i used this phone for 10 months, & the touchpad isnt working, it costs Rs. 1,500/- to get it repaired. the phone is worst coz ur sweat / perspire gets it in the touchpad easily. which stops functioning ur touchpad. moreover it's bad coz company doesnt cover this. ASUS is worst company coz it doesnt make phone as per climate control.

Hi, I like this phone a lot. I can say that the only problem I have is the signal. Whit long calls I somethimes lose the signal. The rest is simple. when you start a call you just have to block the screen by moving the switch down. If you use wi-fi, you just have to turn it off when you are not using it. the battery problem is resolved by asus, you have to update it at their site. By conecting it via usb you can update it.

I bought this phone about 6 months ago. Its lightweight, fast.. but the battery is a big letdown. Also the backlight... few seconds into the call, the light automatically comes back and stays put. After a call is over, sometimes the display doesnt come back on and the phone is in a hibernate state. You wont get any calls and turning the phone off is not an option. You HAVE TO take the battery out and turn the phone back on again. Camera is very good though, lacks a flash but takes good pictures and videos. If you wanna play games, make sure you are connected to a charger, they eat up the battery. Ringtone volume is low and you wont be able to hear it if you are outside. Vibration works well. The ear volume is also very low but if you connect headphones... the sound is very good and can go even louder. I liked the design and the menu format. Music - Like I said earlier, very good quality when on earphones. Decent when played through the speaker. Touchscreen is the biggest problem while talking. The call might get disconnected... cuz the wireless settings key may get pressed accidentally... or depending on the profile settings, time/alarm may get pressed.. etc... My advice would be... go for some other phone in this same price bracket.

I have this one as work pda.... And I must tell I have never had worst phone in my life. It's small, it's fast and that is end of everything. Touch screen is no mater how many times you calibrate it work like sh.... If you use it like phone with big buttons it's fine but to write sms or use for numbers!!!!!! Pressing 1 it type (,1,4,7 sometimes at same time, also on 2,0,5,8 etc... So for small use as phone only but without many sms well maybe if it's cost 30% of current price

This is the worst mobile i have ever used: bad signal strength, very bad battery backup and lately a portion of the touchscreen has stopped responding. Also, time and date changes automatically when phone is switched off (which happens many times bcoz of the lame battery). Not only this, latest messages get deleted automatically. If i were you, i wouldnt touch this phone even if i get it for free. ASUS SUCKS!!!

I have been using this mobile since last 8 months. This mobile sucks. 1. Charge does not stay for long hardly for 1.5 hourse if u r running some applcations or on call. stays not even for a day if unutilized. 2. From last one month, I am experiencing that all messages which are 10 days older automatically gets deleted. 3. Touch screen life it very short. finding lotta trouble to use it no adays. 4. Network coverage is worst. List is very long. All I hv to say whoever is planning to buy please give a second thought. personal advise dont opt for thid mobile at all.

i got one 3 weeks earlier. i couldnt see the best use of this thing till now. i strongly feel that it gets better with time. camera is good though it says 2mp. Only thing that troubles me is the battery backup. U cant use this phone for music.. and i somehow feel its speed is low for the specs of 640+ MHz processor. what is this 'extended battery'? please someone clarify on battery and speed.

This phone is no good. Or is it just the windows mobile software? I cant save pictures to the sd card. This means i have to use active sync , but i dont all information transfered, i want to select what data i want transfered. Next the signal is erratic, even when i am in a strong signal area. The device is seriously glitched. It flips from program to program without prompt. The gps turns on automaticlly, which takes up a lot of battery power. Speaking of which is not that long. I dont use the music purely for this reason. Also it connects automatically to the internet, which has cost me dearly in airtime minutes. I should have taken it back straight away, but the seller said i had international warranty, but if you go to the web site it says "contact the reseller" Major handball. No one wants to deal with it. What a waste of $300 , Might make a good frisby.

1600 x 1200 res. is almost Full HD screen res. If you choose "Superfine mode" to take a photo, it will be satisfactory enough. It does not mean more megapixel is better quality photography.

Had mine for 2 weeks, then replaced it because it reboots all the time. Also I've noticed that the screen flickers. Also, just like the others have said, the battery standby is very poor. Now I have my replacement , so far no problems encountered except for the screen flickering and poor battery performance.

Once I thought of throwing this phone .Now I started appreciating this because of its internet connection speed in GPRS/EDGE on BSNL connection. Tne WIFI is superb. I have opera mini ,opera java based ,Bolt ,Fire and Internet explorer. I overcome the power problem with extended battery.This helped me in over heating because of space for ventilation . I regularly use it for my inventory statement and accounts without any difficulties. I purchased a better Scratch guard and using old used ball point pen as stylius.Asus supplied a dirty cheap stylus for such a good unit. The usb connection for sound system is a bad proposition.There are plenty pin based units are availabe as altenative. Downloading is quiet fast.

Hello. Please save all running Programs and Data to SD Card. Then go to setting and reset default settings. The default password is 1234. Before this you please check your sim card on another mobile phone and confirm whether it is in order. I had similar problems and now it is ok.

Similar thing happened to my P552W. I just set the device to Default setting and reset the system ( default Password was 1234. Please check this before reset). Now it works flawless

Does anyone knows how to increase the volume through the ear speakers and bluetooth. I find the volume a tad too soft even at maximum level. While connected to a handsfree, the rocker on the pda does not seemed to increase the volume. Any tweaks and links appreciated.

This is my first time owning an Asus windows mobile phone. Have been using products from HTC for the past couple of years. The big difference I've noticed comparing to HTC devices is the build quality of this phone is so solid. Also there is no chance of keys fading because the keys are made of laminated plastic. The outer shell also has a rubbery feel so it snugs firmly when you hold it.

I think XCPUScalar is rom dependent. It may work in some roms or not. Same with Pocket Hack master. When I reverted to using stock rom, I've noticed that this device is battery hungry. From 100% to 80% in just 2 hours. Regardless if you still set the CPU mode to Power saving mode. If you set it to turbo mode, 20% decrease in just an hour, maybe more. Anyways, went back to asus p552w stock rom. Then tried some minor tweaks using SKTOOLS. I tried experimenting with the results for days now and here's what I did. Go to Category then system tweaks then Optimize then on the screen click Action, then choose Performance, then Optimize. This will prompt you to restart your device for the changes to take effect. Then I set CPU mode to automatic. I fully charged my phone to 100% before going to bed. Took note of the time, it was 10:42 pm. Woke up at 8:10 am. My battery meter reads 96%. I think that isn't bad at all. I'm sure anybody can do this. No risk in doing it. SKTools is very safe to use. One more thing, stay away from Pocket Mechanic. If you're a novice pocket pc user, this software can get you into a lot of trouble especially if you're trying to free up some storage space and do some registry cleaning. this also applies to ASUS P565. both have Marvell processors. Hope this helps.

got this phone as a gift from my girlfriend. this is the best phone i've ever had. spent hours downloading software. some of which i never thought existed... like a decibel meter, wikipedia (i mean whole wikipedia. 2005 edition that is), call recorder, gps tracker, all in one movie player (coreplayer), palm emulator(style tap), talking dictionary, internet radio, usb drivers ( i can connect any memory card/flash drive and transfer files to and out of my device... now how cool is that. i don't need to turn on my pc just to transfer files on my phone.. makes me love my asus p552w more.

I called up asus, the staff explained that 8gb microsdhc had been officially tested with p552w, but not for 16gb yet; they went on to elaborate that the are no complains about the 16gb microdchc so far. I bought ASUS P552W in March 2009 very recently from KL. I could not use much of it's features till date. The reason is the battery life is very very poor. The battery charge level comes down to 20% level from 100% level in a few hours time and in that period I use it for phone calls only say total of 10 minutes. I have adjusted the setting such as brightness, auto back light off etc but to avail. I took it to the shop where i bought it from but they are clueless. I have observed the phon eto be a little warm to touch. I fear battery is being consumed internally without any output. Please let me know how to reduce the battery consumption as per your experience

@ onerror haven't used gps that much. wireless connections consume a considerable amount of battery life. only used gps for less than an hour. it consumed 15% of battery life. wifi connection last for about 6 hours. i use it when browsing and when listening to internet radio. This pocket pc is a good buy, in my opinion. And is much cheaper than an htc diamond, but didn't compromise on quality features. If you have any more questions, just post it on this site. Thanks.

This device equipped with a very powerful Marvell Tavor 624MHz CPU promising super fast performance and with sleek and slim design, looks like ASUS has product that promises to be a winner among people. It comes in black or white color. The unit I got was white in color. The body of it is shiny. So, it picks up fingerprints pretty easily.On the left side, you can find the volume button, GPS antenna. I really love this phone. Better than my HTC TyTn2. The build is very solid and no chances of paint fading. Performance is way faster than my previos ppc. I get to play warcraft 2 and age of empires in full screen with no slow downs. Definitely a bang for the buck.

I got the unit just yesterday in singapore and this is my short feedback. It feels good to hold, not much lagging excepted from a wm pda phone. I am cool with the camera not being as high as other device. It is kinda cute with the own skins over the standard wm os. Really nice to use.

I was on the verge of buying this device, but then something attracted my attention: it's card slot is UNDER the battery, so everytime we want to use the card separately, we have to turn it off, and then back on. This drives me crazy! This is so lame. I don't understand how such a beautiful and fast (and i mean realy fast, it's among the fastet PDAs on the market, in not the fastest) could not benefit from a smart design regarding memory card slot. Were the designers drunk or maybe doped? It's unacceptable. I'm sorry Asus, but small things make our world.

my dear friends, i agree that it looks like touch viva but there is lot of difference between both. viva has 201 mhz processor where as 552w has 624 mhz processor. also viva doesn't have gps receiver, whereas p552w has inbuilt gps receiver. so i guess my friends, the price is justified.

weak arse resolutioin, 2.8 screen at 320x240, could at least be vga. still it's pig ugly anyway so that's reason enough to leave it alone

ok, so Asus is not one of the leading phone manufactureres but maybe the idea idea of copying the HTC Touch and enhancing features works. I mean 128 MB of RAM instead of 64 MB, and the processor of more than 600 MHz. For these two it challenges any PPC already on market. But the fact that only HTC has such a great forum site xda-developers from which I have freely benefited so much will make stick to HTC. I'd hate to have a SE Xperia (so heavy! 145g :( ) and enter on HTC forums to download the best apps.
