Asus Transformer Prime TF201 - User Reviews

  • This is by far the best tablet I have ever used, even now in 2019. Even after it's release in 2011 (Eight Years!) I have been running Katkiss Custom firmware (Android v7.1.2) on this tab, and with a slight overclock when needed, is capable of running most software including Microsoft Office tools for work purposes. Almost every game emulator runs smoothly on the tab, and with a £24 bluetooth game controller, this makes the perfect companion for on the go gaming. I cannot fault the reliability and durability of the tablet with docking keyboard. And for weight comparison to a hefty laptop, this tablet is extremely portable and versatile for home and work purposes.

  • For some reason I am addicted to this tab and even though I know there might be better, I still want my tf201 back. The battery life is beyond my expectation. It is just an incredible, reliable machine. Love it.

  • Is it still working good ?

  • You do realize this has 1gb of ram right? Move on with the time mate. I have it, upgraded to the Samsung Tab S 10.1.. great tablet with 6.0.1, next one will be the Google one..

  • From Timduru at xda developers, im using android 5 at this moment but there is version 6 available and a beta of 7.

  • which rom?

  • I will never but ASUS tablet again. I bought the TF201 many year ago, right after release (including the keyboard). It' was an amazing tablet with spec way over the market standards. - GPS wasn't working, they send some dongle (OK but still a major issue) - WIFI rage is very weak. but the thing that disappointed me the most was that they haven't upgraded the s/w since ICS (android 4 !) GPS and WIFI are hardware related issues so even if it's looks bad that ASUZ didn't see such important issue during testings ... software upgrades are pure service. Sure that I'm was not exacting to android N but JB/KITKAT ?

  • Install custom ROM, it will improve WiFi issue significantly

  • Even if I am in the same room as the Router the WIFI signal on the tablet shows only 1 or 3 bars and is slow. Tried changing the channels but same case. The Internet is slow even though I have a 16 MBPS line. However on my cell phone I get a five bar. Any solution to this

  • Good, GPS doesn't work(signals bounce around metal body, but overall, amazing.

  • Try a different channel on your router. it works perfectly for me

  • This is an very good Tablet. Its fast, performance is perfect. And 18 hours fulltime availble with dockstation. My next one will be TF701.

  • This is a great tablet... The only problem is, that it has really bad wifi... When you are sitting right next to the router it still has only 3 bars of connection! I would definitely recommend it. I got given mine, so not bad at all.

  • Almost perfect...really weak WiFi

  • OS upgradable to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ;)

  • OS upgradable to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 since 2013 ;)

  • Real good tablet that works fine. Can easily find accessories for it at fair price - Good sound with bluetooth loudspeakers. Everything works as promised

  • Loudspeaker Yes, with stereo speakers It does NOT have stereo speakers. It only has 1 speaker, with crappy stereo capabilities.

  • @Neeloy, not sure if you have solved your touch pad problem (I'm assuming this is the keyboard dock touchpad), but in case you haven't, try performing a cold boot with the dock connected to your prime. To get more info on what a cold boot is and what steps you should perform, please see this thread:

  • My android version automatically updated to 4.1.1. Now my touch pad is not working. How can I get back my previous version of android or touch pad firmware for new version? Can anybody please help.

  • Love it works vast easy and the extra battery in the keyboard is very handy.

  • is good.

  • love my asus tf201

  • Wifi works great! No bugs! Battery life excellent!

  • which one is more powerfull????? Transformer Prime TF201 or the Iconia Tab A510???? somebody please reply :-)

  • Wifi in my Prime works wonderful 5*****

  • Is it true that TF201 has wifi problems?

  • Is it true that TF201 has wifi problems?

  • yes i have Photoshop Touch and i works out of the box!

  • Does anyone here used Adobe Photoshop Touch in this device? Does it work properly?

  • U have to go into settings, privacy, option for pin lock, pattern lock, or face lock

  • U have to go into settings, privacy, option for pin lock, pattern lock, or face lock

  • Android update 4.1 for this device was another disappointment for me. Some apps are not working as well as earlier , for example Skype, front and back camera need to much time to start, they often jam, and if the the wi-fi signal is not excellent there is no picture. Only browser that work more less OK is Dolphin, every other jam and after some time stop responding. So, just one advice to owners, i think that there is no need to update factory 3.2 android. It works perfect. Cao

  • hold "back" button

  • It is Portable Hotspot/Tethering. Go to Settings.

  • Yes it has.. I just received my Eee Pad Transformer TF101g from my service provider and it has sim card slot. however, if you prefer to use it via wifi it will still work even if you dont have sim in it.

  • how can we take screen shot in it..

  • the cpu is quad core 1.5GHz not 1.3GHz

  • No..it does not have it. Re-read the specs....

  • how about sim card to use internet, does it has???? please tell me.

  • if it was a app you upgraded uninstall it, or check again for updates. Its a bug in the code.

  • Great Tablet ! I had no problems with it, and i bougth it from Amazon.com :D ... Android is much cooler than iOS. For me the Prime is the best for now ...

  • Much better than the IPAD2. Deadly device. Personal experiance.

  • Asus will have to make lot of effort to make Eee transformer compete with iPad. 1. Screen of trnsformer is too glazy. 2. While scrolling down, the browser is too jerky. 3. While opening and working on office files -document,spreadsheet etc- transformer is very slow. Not worth RS 10000. Leave alone it's price tag of 49900.

  • I have tf 201 for some time, and about two weeks ago, I upgrade something (not OS). After that, tablet had crashed - restarted two times, one time I was unable to turn it on, the battery was on 45%, just after plugging into electric source it had started. It is interesting that I wasnt offered to cancel any install just to postpone and after that it jump very often. So disappointing

  • tanks nice games

  • Actually I think that stand-by time should be much longer because of NVIDIA Tegra 3's vSMP technology (the fifth companion core)

  • viva apple

  • Camera has crashed, green screen needs sent back to manufacture. Really an awesome device with a few minor issues.

  • yeah i think the same!! no need it to has GSM SLOT

  • me too +1

  • He means those portable wifi modems. It's a little thing you turn it on, it will produce a Wifi signal. You let it connect to it and yeah.

  • All android devices either support this natively or with a standalone application , the transformer prime is not excluded

  • hi, i'm not really clear with your saying that it can transform 3G signal to wifi access point? Are you sure that it can does that? Because from the specification I didn't see any Wifi direct features.

  • U can buy one of those wifi mobile, it can transform 3G into wifi signal, it`s wireless, doesn`t weight at all. That`s whati did becoz i wanted my tf prime soooooo bad

  • U can buy one of those wifi mobile, it can transform 3G into wifi signal, it`s wireless, doesn`t weight at all. That`s whati did becoz i wanted my tf prime soooooo bad

  • Please do a review for this device. I sort of rely heavily on GSMArena's reviews and for that reason I cannot decide whether I should actually get this or not.

  • There is no way to compare this device with apple devices on a 1 place android is catastrophe of OS and because of there is no diferce between 2 or quad processor and for sure this is my last android device !

  • iPad 3: slightly better display, slightly better pictures (even with less megapixels, more responsive Transformer Prime: Better Battery life, docking keyboard, ability to accept usb and much more customizable OS Overall: both are amazing can't go wrong with either just depends on what your looking for

  • hi I bought it it is very very nice I think it is better than i pad 3

  • does it have voice call features?

  • Hey guys, I'm considering whether to get an ipad3 or eee pad transformer prime? any opinions?

  • there is no face unlock for asus transformer prime yet

  • nice tab ! i love it so much ! yes it has a microphone on the top

  • Is there a microphone in this tablet?

  • I don't see face unlock function in 4.0.3 (ICS) update. may be I'm so blind and didn't notice that function. Can someone suggest for me, how to config face unlock? thx for answer.

  • yes you can buy the dock after you buy the tablet only if in tablet package isn't including the dock.you can separetly buy the dock for 150 dollars i think depend of the market.you can choose the color to match the color of the tablet.and when you're buying the dock make sure you don't buy the previous dock for the older version of transformer, you would be able to see the picture it is slimmer for the transformer prime and it's not made from plastic it is from aluminium.best wishes

  • seriously, guys.. pls read my previous opinions first about tethering b4 u make repeated comments on why i need the 3g version. i simply dun prefer tethering/ making my phone portable hotspot cuz it will also consume my phone's battery. i'm mobile most of the time while there won't be any free wireless n i dun wanna my phone dead due to tethering cuz i need it to receive/ make a call, that's why i need a tab to do other things like browsing, gaming, etc so that i won't have my phone dead while i'm mobile. n extra battery isn't good solution 4me cuz it's a pain in the ass to always change ur battery in the middle of sumthin'. that's why i need 3g version badly. i dun care if i have another 3g internet for my tab cuz i dun have any contract whatsoever in my country, only need to pay $10/ month. wireless isn't everywhere here.

  • i dun like tethering cuz it will consume my phone's battery also n i'm mobile most of the time. u certainly dun wanna have ur phone outta battery when u're mobile n u wanna make a call/ message just bcuz u use it for stupid tethering. then why should i buy another tab for browsing n other things besides calling/ messaging if i'm gonna use up my phone's battery along w/ it? better use my phone only then, if u get what i mean. for me, it's better to have another 3g internet cuz it's cheap here, only $10/ month. we dun have any contract whatsoever in my country.

  • hi i want to buy this tablet but I have 2 question can I buy a dock for it after buy the tablet? and if I buy a dock for it can I connect dock to the tablet? thank you

  • surely sounds and looks like personage from a sci-fi movie :)

  • Great tablet, have one and its the best tablet i ever used.

  • Transformer Prime wins over iPad 3 in every aspect except screen quality. Wonder which I'll buy. $499 for them is a great price.

  • Would have considered if there was a 3g version. Heard it has some wifi and gps issues. I'm happy with my galaxy tab 10.1

  • this is the thing to have....AWSOME

  • Excellent tablet. Played around with the iPad and Galaxy Tablet. The Transformer Prime's performance trumps them all. The design is beautiful. Build quality is top notch. Love all the ports. Display is vibrant. And then there's ICS. A pleasure to use.

  • had two of these units and they were both as glichy as eachother. I returned both of them. Poor wifi, no gsp reception and a host of other faults. Returned it to the shop and got the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and i have never looked back. Dont get fooled by specs, not all its cut out to be. A new samsung fan.

  • Wireless tethering to your phone... why do you need 3g in a tablet and your phone.

  • nvidia tegra 3 has a total of five cores in it in which 4 are high performance cores and 1 is an companion core. when a single core is active the core runs at 1.4ghz and when a maximum of 4 cores are required by the application the each core runs at a speed of 1.3 ghz. its not like each core adding up to make 1.3ghz. if it was like that then the android interface will lock up and lag heavily and also the application which doesnt have multi core support they will perform like shit in this resolution. the only way the interface stays this smooth is when each core above 1ghz. main thing is that androids main ui doesnt require multiple cores and it even doesnt call up multiple cores when there are no application running. only application optimized or support multi core processing calls up multiple cores every others applications just uses an single core running at 1.4ghz. the power management for the cores are done by nvidia firmware on the nvidia soc its not the android that doing that. there are very few application on the market that makes use of 2 cores or even less when making uses of the full 4 cores. you can find that tf101 and tf 201 perform almost same on ics when its running just the ui and no background tasks. u will find tf201 much fluid bcoz of the speed bump and there is also and bump on the gpu but thats not much. apple's hardware also works in the same principle.as far the graphics performance goes power vr SGX543MP2 is essentially two sgx 540. sgx 540 considerably higher performance than the geforce ulp in tf101. the geforece ulp in tf201 has an speed increase but it has not surpased the sgx540 it will be the almost the same. its an very fine piece of hardware and nvidia has done a very good job with the power management in the soc. as far as the graphics benchmarks go its just a difference of mere 1-3 seconds and 2-3 fps it doesn't make a difference on the end user. i just useful on the paper or argument purpose thats it.

  • Asus Prime is ipad killer in all fields thats the truth, apple fan boys 3G is your only answer.

  • For what you need 3g version? If you have cellphone with wifi you can make hotspot, you dont need two simcards (double pay)

  • too bad that 3g version won't be released anytime soon. in fact, no statement from asus that they will produce the 3g ones, not even in their work plan yet. hopefully, asus won't regret this.

  • can't agree w/ u. this thing has no usb port, only the docking port has. n if we hafta connect to docking port to use 3g modem, well why do i bother to buy this while i have my 13" notebook? u certainly dun wanna browse, while standing, w/ a docking port! tablet is supposed to aim for its mobility. n wireless connection is not available everywhere during ur mobility. tethering is not a good enough solution cuz it'll consume both phone's n tablet's battery, while during ur mobility, u dun wanna have ur phone dead n can't make/ receive a call w/ it. extra battery? too pain in the ass to always change ur battery. n did u just say broadband w/ wifi router? outta question during traveling. the thing is u hafta know that not everyone's blessed w/ wireless connectivity anytime, n it won't hurt if asus can consider ppl w/ high mobility as one type of the prospective buyers.

  • Ghana @ mix. I'm thinking to buy 1 soon 600 eu for 32gb + doc Still not loaded on Saturn I Joe it will come soon

  • no gps problem after update I have good signal indoor now

  • Can some1 tell me when it ll b available in pak and if it is available den sum1 tell me where can i get it and how much for 64gb champagne gold. Quick response will be highly appreciated. Hotspot available in All smart phones these days so if you need 3g internet for eee pad you can hotspot it from your cell phone. thats wat hotspot for.

  • Gps still in trouble ? what about wifi is it enough strong

  • Apple A5 chipset is made by Samsung , not Apple

  • no not yet available in egypt .... waiting for it as well

  • Quad core doesn't mean anything. Is there any quadcore smartphone can run GTA IV, God of War III Like PC do.

  • These days most phones can act as a Hotspot, so 3G isnt a requirement as much for Tablet devices anymore!

  • the tablet it self doesn't have a usb port, you need to buy the keybord dock also to have a usb port!

  • those benchmark tests are irelevant, real live experience is what matters

  • Wifi HotSpot ? without GSM/CDMA internet connectivity, share WTF ?

  • you can use a 3G USB stick on it

  • dont think it can, otherwise is will be listed. Funny, why there is hotspot feature but no 3G

  • is it available in Egypt?

  • can anyone tell me if i can use a usb wifi in transformer prime tablet ? thx

  • you are not getting the point of what i am trying to say. All i want to explain is that if u have 4 cores clocked at a specific frequency you can't just add up the frequencies 4 cores at 1ghz are not equal to 1 core at 4ghz if an application requires minimum clock speed at 2ghz only the single core machine at 4ghz will run it and not the quad core

  • nvidia said that the cores will run up to 1.5ghz

  • just wanted to add a small note about what you said .. A quad core proceesor clocked at 1.3 GHz can run a 1.5 GHz application if the application itself is multi-core enabled in the code , meaning the application can be divided to diff. processes performed by diff. cores

  • This tablet is a big disappointment benchmark tests from GLBenchmark show that even though it has a Tegra 3 Quad-core processor the iPad 2 still beats it when it comes to graphics processing. How can Apples dual-core A5 processor which is a year old still be better than a quad-core processor. This means that the best processor available for Android still cant beat Apples technology that is one year old. What's even interesting is that there is currently no Android tablet or smartphone that can beat the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S. If you want to see how Android manufacturers are failing to beat the iPhone and iPad go to the most authoritative and comprehensive smartphone benchmarking site on the net. Do a benchmark comparison of an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 with any Android cellphone of your choosing. The current overall rankings which you will find on the home page tell the whole story. Using the new GLBenchmark 2.1 battery of tests the rankings are as follows; 1 Apple iPad 2, 2. Apple iPhone 4S, 3. Lenovo LePad K2, 4. Samsung GT-i9100 Galaxy S2, 5. Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201

  • No, the frequency does not add up when concerning multi core cpu. A quad core running at 1ghz does not equal a 4ghz cpu/speed...

  • i think u need to take a simple pc lesson and stop saying bull crap 4 cores at 1.3ghz will all run at 1.3 ghz if there is an application that requires 1.5ghz it will not run. you can't just add them

  • i want this chipset in a phone ( the tegra 3 )

  • that's wrong sir , 4 cores clocked @1.3 GHz , means that each core gives you 1.3 GHz , then the total speed if every core working 100% is 5.2 GHz , read more to know , what is cores and what are threads

  • I cancelled my pre-order of 4 weeks because GPS doesn't work well in the Prime. Sadly I will wait longer for the next great tab...

  • Try doing a little research. you get 4 cores clocked at 1.3GHz each and it isn't directly additive.

  • @fyi that's nonsense. As users of dual core phone's will know is that they can (with systune or other apps) adjust each core separately. They will also know that each core, by itself, is able to run at the full advertised speed. This is no different for the Prime. It has 4 cores that are able to run at 1.4Ghz each. In fact, the Primehas a 5th core that runs at a maximum of 0.5Ghz to keep things going when 2 or 4 of the primary cores are switched off to save power.

  • Post 1... you have no Clue what you are talking about go read more.

  • this tablet got no GPS???

  • When you say 1.3 ghz quadcore, you dont get x4 1.3 ghz cpus, instead, you get 4 cpus clocked at certain speeds that will total 1.3ghz. Its actually not clocked at exactly 1.3ghz, it should be divisible by 4 for a quadcore, same as dual cores

  • Helo averyone. I FKing love this Tab and i wanna get it soon! S o please if anyone knows where to get the 64GB version for $500 or less let me know which online store has it please reply if u guys know! i appreciate it! Thanks in Advance!

  • Use tethering from your handset :)

  • 1.3ghz x 4, cuz its quadcore!

  • Nobody wants windows bud.

  • wifi only??? what a shame... wish it had 3G available.

  • Sh!t happens. Hasbro is suing ASUS over the name "Transfomer Prime". Time for name change?

  • there are two types of them one for andriod and the other one for windows

  • ok NewEgg has it already but says that the CPU Speed is at 1.30GHz not at 1.5..... whats up with that guys???

  • This tablet is very appealing. However, not having any usb port (inclugin micro usb) on the tablet itself is a big big let down. Even basic mobile phones have it. It seems you would have to buy it with the keyboard and carry it with you for data transfer from it. Suggesting card reader adaptors are not practical and they will be most likely to be lost.

  • Windows 8 will not be released until around Nov 2012, by then this tablet will be out of date and newer models will be in the pipeline. I very much doubt this tablet will ever run Windows 8 and have heard no such rumours.

  • hack it to put win 8 WHEN IT COMES OUT :P , i'll do this

  • There is no written about windows8 I heard befor this tablet can oparate win8 and asus may give u choise wither u bay it with android or win8 But now i hear nothing about that??!!

  • 19th dec n still no launch????

  • to connect usb 3g dongle, go here:

  • well, i dont think that android has the driver for that. a friend tested it with the original transformer, it didnt work:(

  • its very nice device but it do not support divx and xvid, i know u can download player but its original hardware do not support it.

  • is the device (& the android 4.0) capable of supporting 3G USB modems as an alternative to the lacking of 3g capability in such wonderful device Thanks

  • Well, the 3g version was not announced yet but there is great chances that there will be one. And i don't think that a 2g only vertion will come. The EDGE/GPRS(2g)era is over.

  • so, r u telling that windows is not supported on the AMR CPU???

  • does asus transformer has 2g or 3g ????

  • yes,powreful ones

  • they have to port it to a completely different architecture. The Intel / AMD architecture is completely different from the ARM.

  • well, 3g would be good as there are many hackers that might use ur connection if u tether(myself). i also not understand why they cannot put windows on their powerful tablets.tegra 3 is comparable to an e7200 intel core2duo,and the gpu is powerful.

  • Does it have Built-in Speakers ??

  • N will it play the movie as smooth as the default player plays?

  • Don't you just download bsplayer - and wow - the filetypes you mentioned become supported..

  • Ahaha. Use your brain. You can download divx, xdiv, etc. Player in android market. . .

  • Ahaha. Use your brain. You can download divx, xdiv, etc. Player in android market. . .

  • Relax, there's app named MoboPlayer which supports you to play any video format, it's available on the Market, and its free :D

  • What the F!!!!! Was in love with this tablet but suddenly it broke my heart. It doesnot support video formats like divx, xvid.etc.... Atleast a tablet that powerful should not be missing these things.

  • 3G will release the end of Q1 2012. It's a great news. About 3G on USB port . So it's a additional device, how many people knows mobile broadband 3G device with android compatibility software release on market.

  • the tablet it self is definition of mobility and most definitely should pack 3G otherwise is half product

  • I like the spec and the design of this tablet. Plus having and HDMI port is a great addition as well to make the tablet act as multimedia player and display the content on a big flat screen tv. I hope they release a gamepad/joystick which i can use to plug in and play the game inside the tablet. Plug in a good gamepad, and output the display the game in a big LCD TV will definitely makes this tablet a great game console as well..yeah..

  • For All People Who Disappointment about no 3g we still don't know yet it will have 3G or not i just want tell you all one thing This device Have USB Port This mean you can buy any **broadband usb and you have 3G**....if you can't there is another solution ...**you can buy Broadband Wi-fi router and connect your Device Everywhere**...SO STOP Complaining ABOUT NO 3G

  • i wanted to know whether video supports mkv format.can i connect my 500 gb hard disk with the micro usb available...while reading ebooks can i underline lines and save it like one note?plz reply..thanks in advance

  • Yea, I am on the side of the 3g squad. I bought my transformer thinking it had 3g and was firstly gutted when I realised that it didn't, then secondly gutted when 2 weeks later the transformer prime rumours started. I am super tempted to sell my 10.1 and get the prime but no 3g, no upgrade. I use apps such as dive log where there is not likely to be wifi. I have a tetherable phone but its a galaxy note and if I am carrying that about, I may as well just use it as a tablet instead of the transformer.

  • Can this able to play facebook games like uberstrike..?????

  • 3G :(

  • i'd like to see a gsm version with 3g.

  • Nice machine but only good for movie playback. The screen's aspect ratio of iPad is much better for serious applications. I don't understand why the make them Wide screen.

  • can I be able to play other games (except from tegra 3 or tegra 2 games)which is based on snappdragon or adreno gpu or from electronic arts or from gameloft game developer.??????

  • Todays We need at-list 3g but how auss launched this the best device in only in 2g..............

  • I love the features of this tablet PC, but most of all I love the potential it has and the fact that it will live long among its competition because it's packed to the gills with hot hardware specs... I will invest in this one for shore.

  • I love the features of this tablet PC, but most of all I love the potential it has and the fact that it will live long among its competition because it's packed to the gills with hot hardware specs... I will invest in this one for shore.

  • is there any 3G Model?

  • Nobody ask you what people should do, if they want 3G it should be there inside the tablet. I stop with explenation what means mobile devices, because is terrible to explain to dummies who even don't know that WiFi is past after 3-4 years. Tablet should have a let say for dummies Mobile network coverage ( it's not WiFi mentioned here - for dummies). I think Prime 3G will come soon enough to bye it . Bye

  • It's a dealbreaker for you ? Who cares ? Get another one. There are 100 others around. Why do you tell us storys nobody is interested in ? Stop crying like a girl and let Infos of the prime into this thread. I can't wait to get it, and the only Infos I get here are from theese girlies, about their problems in kasachstan. Nobody in the civilization needs 3G no more, and nobody is interested in storys of people, living in the woods. The prime doesn't have 3G, so live with it or get another one. Don't spam around here about things nobody can change, and nobody is interested here. Go over the the iPad thread and start crying, that android4 is still not available.

  • hey if u ve a wifi mobile den download joikuspot...its a WiFi HotSpot...u can change ur mobile into a wifi moderm and connect ur tab through dat wifi all de best..

  • Will it support my external hard drive i've got two, will it support both at the same time, one has power from the mains, and one is a portable one any ideas?????

  • It so disappointing there is no 3G! Everyone goes on about tethering your phone. Firstly, not everyone has a phone that can tether. I actually have a phone that can tether, however, tethering through my phone drains the battery. It takes away the "Instant On" appeal of tablets if I have to turn tethering on and off every time I want to use the tablet outside. It's also annoying having to turn off tethering on the phone when you get back home so the tablet connects to your home Wifi. Also, my girlfriend is not as tech savvy, doesn't use her mobile much and has a small data plan on her phone. She couldn't borrow the tablet and use it outside when I'm not with her. I know so many people where no 3G is a deal breaker, including myself. I really hope ASUS reads these forums and researches the demand for 3G.

  • Fu...ing 3G should persist into a tablet. If you don't want it , don't using. I don't care is it 3G perfect compare to phones or not just want to be 3G inside the tablet and that means for mi totally and finally MOBILE DEVICE which I can use everywhere even on the woods were WIFi is not persist

  • guys plz give a gsm slot atleast for gprs..bcoz i m residing in a village where nothing is present except gprs

  • everyone with a tablet has a tetherable phone. there is no need for a built in modem .. my first iPad was a 3G and i realized that i almost never used/needed it, so my iPad2 is a WiFi. there are no more non tether phones on the market, so what is the use of a built in 3G, which cost you 100 Bucks at apple. out in the wood, you just flick the tether-switch of your phone. the few people, who need it, just have to go with one of the 100 other tablet-options out there.

  • much chapter than ipad 2 and the camera too.

  • I totally agree with you!...as i wrote the same 4-5 posts ago. i would like to add to your comment that IT'S NOT NECESARY that a person who owns a tablet AUTOMATICALLY HAS TO OWN a smartphone that can be transformed into a WI-FI router! Sorry for my words, but it's stupid to assume this!

  • Why everyone wants 3G. This is most stupid question> Sorry. I 'll try to explain. Because TABLETS mean 1.MOBILE DEVICE - means have INTERNET connectivity even in the forest. What you gonna do if you can't find free wireless or any wireless? So This is a reason of 3G MOBILE Device. I hope that explanation is simple to understand :) Thx

  • Is it possible to teether a blackberry phone with this device,i'm confused.

  • Is it possible to teether a blackberry phone with this device,i'm confused.

  • Absolutely agree. I tether my Moto Atrix to the Ipad 2 and I do it so rarely. most of the time it's on wifi (even the Atrix too) Definitely no need to pay another $30 each month when you already have a smartphone.

  • I dont understand why everyone wants 3G? 95% of people wont want to pay for 2 sim cards and no-one will use this as a phone. With your phone in your pocket and tethering on you have 3g WITHOUT paying for a second sim and data. I think this is a great concept. Up till now tablets had to many short comings but this has nailed it.

  • You can use a pocket wifi (myfi) or ur wifi enabled 3g/4g fone as data source. I'm doing it right now with my tegra1 asus transformer.

  • Turn on wifi tethering on your phone and you have 3g

  • how disappointing! it's incredible how some producers has the "ability" to let slip through their hands such opportunities as this... With 3G and docking keyboard this tablet would be THE MUST HAVE and would wipe the ground with iPad and Galaxy Tab.. ...but without 3G..it's...just disappointing. How can you use it in a car or train if you need internet acces !?!? or in a public place without acces to WIFI? i repeat! HOW DISAPPOINTING!

  • Considering it won't have 3G, do you know if android supports a 3G connection via USB ?

  • Asus make us happy and think " The word MOBILE is not depend only for WiFi, if it's not available WiFi or not free the Tablet going to be a useless. Please release Transforme Prime with 3G and tablet will be a Leader of the market and I will buy it.

  • Asus should bring out the 3g version of this becos it really makes it a mobile device.hurry up asus coz i'm already gearing up to buy d 3g version.

  • How can a tablet be mobile without 3G?? Does Asus thinks a tablet is a netbook? The 1st transformer has 3G & they take it out from this edition - wonder what they r thinking? Most of the other tablet vendors come with 3G. Surely, it's not so diffcult to include 3G?

  • can I play all games on android 3?

  • For such an advanced gadget, it is simply disheartening to note the absence of 3G. Can't do much with it if there is no Wi-Fi available. :(

  • why they do not release a 3g version of this tablet. I will be the ultimate tablet! The only thing that misses this tablet is the sim card. :(

  • why not 3g version it's a really disapointed

  • ebook in .chm format runs or what? i also want to know is there any application like microsoft one note that work in android..

  • This is very strong.I Love It.Please put on review for it faster. Thanks

  • quad core but 1gb ram? @@ I wish there is 2Gb ram at least.

  • Wifi Hotspot????? Is this for when it gets rooted and people figure out how to use a 3G modem????

  • I've been looking at this Tablet, but does anyone know if Asus are looking at releasing a 3G version? If they do, they'l have my $$$

  • 3G!!!

  • very nice design

  • Give this bad boy HSDPA\LTE and its golden I'd buy 3...

  • the ICS is already available for this device my dear

  • Looks like a tablet to beat now, hands down. A shame that it wasn't designed for ICS though. Of course there'll be an update but it's never the same.

  • Yes, as a fan of android (not a fanboy, though) i still wish that android tablets can do things my laptop can do.. yes, some functions are already available, but some like full fledge office editor and the USB connectivity with other devices need to be improved.. i am not really concerned about 3G/LTE connectivity, cus if i can tether my phone, it should be no problem with wifi.. really wish that it can replace my netbook.. my only concern is whether i can do my final year project with it or not.. :P Otherwise, i'll have no problem parting with my netbook..

  • needs more pixel density!!!

  • very nice tablet,i luv it.jst wish it'll hve a gsm version.it's also quite affordable,gud wrk asus.

  • Looks a great gadget I've found this video with Size - bad : 263*180.8*8.3 mm / 586 g

  • does tegra 3 take a lot of ram ?or same as tegra 2 ?

  • I wish it had more pixel density, but nonetheless this is a powermachine. Hope it performs well in test, stability is what worries me the most.

  • Yup, that's all it needs to be the perfect android tablet. I know that this is going to get me a lot of bashing, but, i do think that right now, for a tablet to be more than just a play thing, an optimized windows for tablets would do wonders, right now with android you can't do everything windows can.... waiting for something similar with windows8, s-pen and 3g/lte radio

  • if it's equipped with 3G/LTE radio and Samsung's S Pen-like stylus, Asus will have my money

  • Why not a 3G version ?

  • Was gonna buy the toshiba thrive for christmas but will get this one for sure. its basically getting a netbook. well done asus

  • Hope they bring out a 3G/LTE version...

  • First.....
