  • the design is exactly similar to O2 XDA 2S.

  • Too bad wifi is only b, but to this day I love this phone. The keyboard is useless; the layout of the key makes it very difficult to type. On screen keyboard and handwriting recognition really eliminates the need for the qwerty keyboard. A large bright screen is quite sharp for a phone this old, and I can't complain about the size & weight.

  • very good

  • for information on upgrading to WM6 goto

  • This phone is the qtek 9900 they are both made by htc. Just different labels sold to different carriers.

  • this the htc blue angel wich has many varients such as siemens sx66,XDA III, MDA III, Qtek 9090, PDA2K but there all the same exact phones the only difference is there names. all in all a great pocketpc even in these days its power full and full of features and you can even upgrade it to WM5/WM6 pro 6.1 head over to xda-developers for more info about that.

  • well might be a complete knock-off but it seems that it was out earlier. and qtek doesnt even produce their own stuff, its all htc.

  • r u serious?this phone is a cheap clone of qtek 9900.check it out

  • i have seen and ireal love it to have it it is so cute for men and female if you can transfer for meit will better

  • Does SX66 has a SIM card?

  • I received the phone November 15th 2005 and at first I was very skeptical but now I have to say that I love this phone. It does everything that I want it to do and then some. It is very stable. I would have to do a hard reset on my Toshiba 805e at least once a week. As of today I have never had to do a hard reset. Knock on wood The size is a bit large to hold to your ear but I need the larger size to view/show pictures to clients. It has a great speakerphone but I prefer the Bluetooth headset. I paired the unit with a Motorola HS850 Bluetooth headset and it works great. Im not one to walk around with the Bluetooth headset on my ear the entire time so I did purchase a carrying case for the unit which works perfectly. The phone rings and all I have to do is to open the headset and start talking. The phone switches from WI-FI to GSM automatically with easy. It is a bit slower on the GSM network than if it was equipped the new EDGE technology but is still much faster than my Motorola Mpx220, V551, and V400. WI-FI is IEEE 802.11b which is only 11mbps but plenty fast enough to surf and download email. I have used the phone as a modem connection to my laptop both to dial up to my home office and TCPIP/VPN. Again it was slow but it was usable. Finally I have to mention battery life. There is no comparison to the battery life of my Toshiba 805e and theSx66. The Toshiba while turned off would last a max of five days, turned on playing mp3 at 400mhz was only approx three hours, playing mp3 at 100mhz approx five hours. The Sx66 while turned off with phone turned off has lasted ten days, with only the phone turned on six days, while playing mp3 with phone on has lasted eleven hours. Simply put I can not find anything that I do not like about this phone. It does not have music ringer ID if that is important to you but it does have photo ringer ID. Again, it does not have camera but that wasnt important to me either. Being on the road all the time traveling all cross the country I needed something to keep me in-touch with my home office. The Sx66 allows me to do just that without having to breakout the large laptop.

  • Can the SX66 sync with Outlook Express 6.0 instead of Outlook 2002? My Outlook 2002 program on my PC is not working properly but my Outlook Express is working fine. If this can be done please email me at [email protected] Thanks!

  • The only piece of software you need is ActiveSync, which you can download off the Microsoft website. The CD also comes with a copy of MS Outlook, but if you have office, you should already have this. To the guy who was wondering who actually makes it - it's a company called HTC (Hi-Tech Computer) in Taiwan - but they are an ODM, and don't sell the phone under their own name.

  • i just purchased one of these online at ebay. the "gentlemen" that sent me the phone did not include the windows os -- 2003 SE, anyone have any idea where i can find it? thanks

  • this device is actually produced byHTC which has some variations of manufacturers,Like O2 XDA IIs,Qtek 9090 and etc note the siemens version is said to be the most stable and also the camera's on the other varients really sucks

  • can anyone here tell me who is the true maker of this mobile ? siemens or I mate ??? check out this page

  • I am confused as to why some saying NO CAMERA, while some lucky ones say they have CAMERA?????

  • One question and one comment: I bought an "unlocked" phone and find the user manual really useless. Is there a better user manaul avaiable online (or anywhere else for that matter). How can I get some user support by phone? Thanks for providing this forum for questions and comments.

  • does this phone allow bluetooth headphones such as motorola HT820 i don't want to purchase them and have them not work

  • Answers to questions: 1. The backup battery is a part of the battery pack. Backup battery is NiMH while main battery is LiIon, but they are in the same unit (which detaches). To replace your SIM without losing battery, plug sync/charge cable into bottom of PDA before removing battery. 2. 2 GB is not "out". Up to 4 GB is possible with SDIO cards now, but costs > $500 US. But you can buy a 2 GB SDIO card for $120 US or so. I have. 3. This unit is the same as iMate PDA2K, Qtek 9090, others, except no camera. See the other phone reviews for more opinions and information. A phone camera is bad because it's not allowed in some places, and because phone cameras take generally poor pictures. 4. has the most information of any site on this phone. 5. Bluetooth support is weak, but there are patches available. See XDA-Devel. 6. If the PDA slows down and shows memory maxed out, then it almost certainly is maxed out. Go to Settings/System/Memory and move the slider to allocate more memory to "storage". If main memory is too low as a result, then remove software and reinstall it on storage card (i.e. SD card). If reboot takes too long because of permanent storage (e.g. contacts), then save contacts on SD card instead of using permanent storage feature. This phone is a great PDA phone for the technically-inclined, but its phone features are less well-designed than its PDA features.

  • i'm having a problem with my internal battery. when the lithion battery is removed for even a second, i loose all data, even though the back up battery reading is always reading 100%. forget about the 20 min leeway the book you have if the back up battery reads at least 50 percent. i had my phone exchanged and still have the same problem, so i am wondering if i am doing something wrong or have i gotten another lemon.

  • Simply put, the Siemens SX66 does it all. A full color display slides down to reveal an integrated QWERTY keypad, while integrated "wi-fi" and Bluetooth keep you on the cutting edge of connectivity. Powered by the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system and with support for corporate email accounts, this device is designed for maximum efficiency, wherever you are. It's the ultimate power tool for mobile professionals. Design The SX66 follows the standard form factor of the latest Pocket PC devices, with one major addition; as mentioned, a sliding QWERTY keyboard is hidden below the screen. A generous, 240 x 320 full-color touchscreen display dominates the face of the unit. Just below the display is a five-way selection button that allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. Meanwhile, shortcut buttons positioned both above and below the screen offer quick access to your Outlook calendar, contacts, messaging, Internet Explorer and more. Alternatively, the device can be directly controlled with an included stylus that slides out of the rear of the SX66's case. Under the hood, the SX66 sports a 400 Mhz Intel PXA263 CPU with 128 MB of RAM and 64 MB of embedded flash memory storage. The unit's SD IO memory slot supports additional flash-based memory so you can expand available storage. The Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC operating system is completely touchscreen-enabled and features advanced handwriting recognition that is compatible with all of the device's applications. There's a standard stereo 2.5mm headset jack, while USB data and charging is handled by the SX66's docking ports on the bottom of the device. Calling Features Many of the SX66's calling features are integrated with the Windows Mobile operating system. For instance, the included Pocket Outlook software features a contacts list that is cleverly integrated with the phone's dialing functions. Meanwhile, the phone's handwriting recognition software can be used to dial numbers and enter contact information. The SX66's built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are available, as is a vibrating alert. Caller ID and call waiting are also supported. Lastly, the SX66's Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to sync the unit with a wide range of handsfree, wireless headsets and car kits. Messaging, Internet and Tools The SX66 is designed as a complete mobile office solution, so Internet and messaging capabilities are robust. The unit comes packed with pocket versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. In addition to keeping track of contacts, Pocket Outlook features integrated calendar and email functions. Microsoft's ActiveSync software keeps the device synced with all of your PC's Outlook information (via USB, IR, wi-fi, or Bluetooth connection). Users who want Internet connectivity on the road with their laptop or PDA can tap the SX66's wireless modem capabilities (Cingular data plan charges apply). An included Cingular Xpress Mail Suite provides real-time access to your corporate and personal email (with optional Cingular Xpress Mail service). Meanwhile, the unit fully supports basic text messaging, as well as multimedia messaging (MMS). A generous toolset ships with the SX66's Windows Mobile 2003 software. Pocket Outlook includes to-do lists while pocket versions of Word and Excel are included so you can review and edit documents on the go. A calculator, alarm clock and voice memo recorder round out the tools package. Entertainment The SX66 delivers the ultimate music experience. You can store MP3 files and easily exchange them with your PC or stream them from the internet. The included Windows Media Player application can also play videos for even more mobile entertainment. The SX66's wallpapers and screensavers can be customized to suit your tastes. Windows Mobile and Java-based games are also supported. Vital Statistics The Siemens SX66 weighs 7.41 ounces and measures 4.92 x 2.83 x .75 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time, and up to 168 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM 800/GSM 900/GSM 1800/GSM 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty. What's in the Box SX66 handset, USB Sync Station, li-ion Battery, headset, spare stylus, travel charger, 22-pin DC jack converter, carry case, user manual, quick start guide, companion CD

  • yes this thongy has mp3 and aac support duh read the specs before posting

  • 2 GB is also out .. does this thing has MP3??

  • Good Phone. Better PDA. Quick question. I installed the battery bar program and it appears that the RAM is "maxed" out. The bar shows that I am using only 45mb, but calls it 97% full. I have also noticed that the PDA has slowed a bit and that it takes a little longer to load programs? Is this a problem with the battery bar prog. or do I have a setting wrong. Any info is greatly appreciated. Get over the camera.

  • The Siemens SX66 is a mixed blessing. I received one of the early versions in Jan 05. I had numerous problems with it including low volume, no internet connectivity, no MMS capability, and the bluetooth would not work with a handset, etc. I returned the phone to Cingular and received a replacement which did not fair much better. After installing the ROM update everything started to work ok. The bluetooth started to work better--albeit not perfectly. The volume is still a major issue. I believe this phone has one major design deficiency; and that is the dual use of the earpiece and the ringer. When you have the phone pressed to your ear, and it rings--you get a mind-blowing blast from the ringer. This happened to me several times, the phone volume is so low that you have to press it tightly to your ear to hear. I was in the middle of a call and had not realized the phone had dropped the call. I still had the phone pressed to my ear and when my disconnected party called me back, the ear-piercing ring left me unable to hear anything for a couple of minutes. After having this happen several times, I only used the speaker phone and purchased another phone to use for a phone. As far as the PDA functions, this unit is hard to beat. Using the additionally purchased voice command software, this PDA's functionality is increased incredibly. I primarily use the calendar functions of outlook and sync to my laptop for my email. In these modes, the PDA is fast and efficient. If you are a primary phone user, do not buy this phone. If you are a PDA user and occasionally want to talk on the phone, this might be a good value for you.

  • anyone know what the max ram sd card this will take? i've heard 1gb, but just wanted to make sure.

  • Here's a friggin idea. If you want a camera that bad its called get and SDIO Camera they are like less than $99 and if you want it that bad go buy it seperatley..

  • mjMH What type of WAP do you have? make sure it supports 802.b, I have one at home and work fine. I did not have to perform any config when brought the SX66, Also make sure you do not have an ACL(Access Control List) configured on your WAP(Wireless Access Point).

  • it is very nice. it shoud be finger tough.thats better. thank you.

  • Hi Guys, I bought SX66 couple of days back and I am having hell of a problem connecting to Internet via Wi-Fi. I tried soft reset and hard reset to make sure there are no hidden seetings I messed up. Still it does not work. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

  • no camera dont buy it just buy the xda IIs or xdaIIi they're better

  • this siemens's phone is very good, but where i can buy this phone?because in my country indonesia is not available.thanks

  • There is no insurance for this phone for loss or theft nor is there any extended warranty. Are there any third party solutions?

  • please... just go an install ms voice command it doesn't take much space and is a great software much better than any voice patter reccording system like other phones.. no need to train it at all. its great. Now, you have a PPC in your hands, if you are smart enough you would get the software that fulfill your needs and install what you need. I have voice command, GPS with TOMTOM, and many other feautures installed in my sx-66 working just fine. This is not a phone for people with little knowledge of PDA technology thats for sure.

  • It's nice, but the battery didn't last the first day and it doesn't have voice activated dialing or ringer ID. A camera would be nice but is not a necessity. I called Siemens to ask about a possible software update to add some features. They said that the device was made with "corporate users" in mind and after a survey those features were deemed more of a liability than an asset. As a result ringer id and voice activated dialing could be added by an update, but Siemens will never put it out.

  • Desperately need info. I love my sx56 and dont own the sx66 yet. I really need to upgrade but I need information about the phone issues. I just don't feel comfortable enough to downgrade to just a phone or have two devices again, but the sx56 phone portion bites. I have bad reception. I can't connect to live areas quickly so I always have to redial. This always chews up extra minutes when I didn't even get a connection or a "click" noise. Is this problem solved with the new faster device? I really want answers before I upgrade and if I choose a camera model (which I don't really need), will I actually not receive the benifit of having wi-fi? Sick of buying sx56's need new phone does anyone have answers if the new faster sx66 2003 se has a better phone performance then older models? I plan on buying the sx66 next month yet nobody I know has answers. HELP

  • You can purchase this SAME exact phone with the camera and also video it is called the I-MATE PD2K. It is much more expensive, but if you are looking for those features, this is the phone for you.

  • The phone may not have a camera, but it does have a WiFi LAN adapter. The Verizon Audiovox version has the camera but no WiFi LAN. I prefer having WiFi over a camera. I had a camera phone, but the camera did not benefit me personally. As for voice dialing, pickup Microsoft Voice Command. It works great for dialing and also accepts other application commands. For example, you can ask about the battery life.

  • For those of you who are interested... Voice dialing is available through the ATA/Cingular network... (Even though it does cost an extra $4/month). I do agree that with phone types as big and 'clunky' as these to hold up to your ear, it would be nice to have that capability ON the unit itself... you can probably buy the software, but it would probably take up alot of space (unless you could 'train' the software to your voice on your PC, then migrate the profile parameters for your vocal inflections onto your PDA to recognize your speech patterns. Only thing is, I wouldn't want any hacker to get ahold of those speech patterns ;-). Just thinking out loud.

  • I'd be happy to purchase a pc phone w/ out a camera. Do you think I want to be proving where I'm at everyday to my lady by sending her freaking pictures!? Thumbs up to no camera phones!!!

  • Why can't these "smart phones" include voice dialing? Dialing is cumbersome enough on these devices anyway, why not make it easier with voice dialing?

  • A lot of PDAs don't come with camera because some high-powered users work in document sensitive workplaces. For instance, you'll never see a Blackberry that has a camera.

  • Why is everyone so damn worried about a camera on this device? Buy it for what it is. Most camera phones are lacking at best. Has anyone heard about these being pulled for software issues?

  • Is there anybody who tell me what is the " Cingular" s mean? I live in Turkey and no company bring it here I am planning to order it on the internet Can it be any drawback because of Cingular ? Thanks.......

  • Nice phone and PDA, but slow. Disappointed to find that it does NOT support EDGE networks. Keyboard is nice but is annoying when typing alpha and numeric. Battery life is short, I can't find an extended life battery (yet) If you can't wait to get the phone then don't. If you can wait, wait for a version that support EDGE.

  • It's a perfect phone except that it doesn't have a camera. I wish it has a video lens and a 1M pixel camera. I love it very much, much much better than the iPAQ h6315 that I used to have.

  • Anyone know where I can buy this phone in Canada (Toronto area)? I own the SX56 and the SX66 seems like a winner!

  • why make a handset that doesnt have a camera seems a bit weird siemens always seem to bring out superb phones with important features missing. this handset will sell to business people but will be very expensive and not worth the buy.get an o2 xda instead same type of thing and has a camera

  • It's Great PDA phone. The only weakness is only : it doesn't have a camera feature.

  • This is the best I've seen to date, some learning curve but a lot better than other mobile/internet/cellular systems to date. Singular covers the U S Virgin Islands/great phone/blue tooth headset combo will see how well it works on the mainland in a couple weeks.

  • Actually the phone is not based on the Samsung. HTC builds the reference device, the blue angel. Many have adopted it, Siemens. Personally I am happy to find this device without the phone. I don't need the phone. As an amateur photographer, I find even the best of cell phone cameras to be horrible. I have more than one excellent camera. I needed an excellent phone and PDA and the Siemens with its full range of communication capabilities fits the bill.

  • Question: According to the manual I should be able to copy wav files to the windows/ring folder of the device. I have done that and can see that they are in that file but can't see the files on my ringtone list . What's the problem. Plese email me if you know how to do this.

  • Cigular has Car charges for these now. Also bluetooth update is out from cingular. Just take it in and they will update it.

  • I just got it not too long ago and i have to say well done. I love everything about it. To all of you who complain about the no camera thing, have you ever used a phone with camera. I have yet to see one with acceptable quality.

  • I will to buy but in my state have not ready stock. How many USD the price?

  • a clone of Samsung's i700, just a worse one because no camera... who makes a mobile today without a camera?!?! no normal company would dear to take such a risk.. and siemens did it.. shame on them...

  • good phone but do i see an incling og the spv m1000 in there and no camera think b4 u buy kinda like a nokia 6101 looks like a samsung and lacks functions 6/10

  • I just purchased 2 of the SX66 phones. They work great. I also have 2 of the latest motarola blue tooth ear pieces and they work good also. The only time i get noise is in areas where there is a lot of electrical interference. They work great for our business. It alows us to stay on the road more.

  • I just can't belive, they finally made a good phone, and they don't put cam! Siemens mobile, you will never be the normal company like others, you will always be on the bottom! I hope you will be bought by some normal company!

  • Why it doesn't have a camera to be perfect?

  • excelent

  • Update, I'm having all kinds of problem with bluetooth. It seems like alot of sx66 owners are having the same problem. The conneciton is extremely staticy. There are some homebrewed patches for bluetooth, works for some, but dind't work for me. Any one else got it working for them?

  • it is good .....good......good!

  • The phone is great! The voice command options on it are outstanding, the only problem I ran into was the bluetooth module... if the phone goes into a sleep mode it will drop the connection unlike a lot of other bluetooth phones. The PDA functionality of this thing is amazing.

  • it is the same i-mate pda-2k. only diff. being no camera & no wireless lan.

  • They are made by the same company, thats why they all look alike, depending on who the manufacturer is making it for depends on the services that will be present on the device (XDA2s to SX66 to MDA III to PDA2K)

  • Guys have u ever concidered to compare the sx66 to the I-mate 2k, wow it's exactly the same from a-z,features and design. That's strange...........?

  • The XDA2s is also Quad band, meaning you would be ablwe to use it in more international area's. another thumbs up to the XDA2s

  • This is so much Like the o2-XDA2s or the T-mobile MDA III, in every aspect other than the XDA2s has a camera, all these PDA's are made by the same manufaturer, only the MDA III and the XDA2s compare. If you were to get an XDA2s you can also access the o2-Active portal for downloads and plays MP3, WMA, WMV, MP4, MIDI files, siemens really need to change the style, as more people will go for the XDA2s due to the camera. I cant see this being offered to any major provider in the UK (vodaphone, orange) as the competition is blowing them away with PDA's, one look at the SX66 makes me think of a better model.....the XDA2s.

  • why don't have camera ?????????????????????????????????????

  • just lovely.

  • I just bought one of these and it is VERY hard to figure it out. I am considering returning it as I'm not sure I want to put up with the learning curve. Hard to figure out when you have a message on the phone part.

  • One of the best handsets I've used. Reception is great. Shame accessories are not readilly available, like vehicle power charger. Tested four different Bluetooth headsets but all make noise connections.

  • One more thing. You can't use mp3's as a ring tone, you would have to comvert it to wma file.

  • I just picked up a sx66 and like it very much, the one I have doesn't have a camera on it. But I read in other reviews that some did come with a camera. Wifi works great, able to connect to pc through terminal server/windows xp remote. Speaker phone is not very loud. Other then that i give it a 8/10. -2 for no camera.

  • does it have a camera

  • Siemens sx66 is avery good product

  • p900 is better

  • Does this have a camera? they dont show anything about a camera here...

  • is this really a siemens!? it's the best all around!

  • this is the type i am talking about may this or the other one i will do appreciate it if u send it through pauls mum.

  • what is HTC? please explain me why this cell phone cheaper than other brands? Thank You

  • Supposed to be I-Mate?Everyone,EVERYONE knows that its HTC designed.

  • y companies copies other phones ..this is spoouse 2 be i mate!!!

  • One company made this mobile phone known elsewhere as T-Mobile MDA III or O2 Xda IIs, i-mate PDA2k, SIEMENS SX66 (HTC Made).

  • Its price is in the range of US$ 550-600 in USA.

  • Actually it is HTC-made cell phone known elsewhere as T-Mobile MDA III or O2 Xda IIs

  • It looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the features are a perfect match, large display, 400MHz processor, QWERTY keypad, MMC slot, IrDA/Bluetooth, MP3 and movie players, MS OS etc etc. The only thing which lacks is a camera :( and 65k colors for such a large display looks less. It must be having 262k colors display. In fact this set is for businessmen who need all the things in their pocket, all the time and this is a good mobile-cum-pda. I hope this set will lead the market if its price is reasonable (I don't know yet!) Bye

  • could this phone be available in middel east soon or not how much the cost will come for i want this phone soon

  • It looks that its the same as T-mobile MDA3. Where can I buy it and How much for that?
