Asus Transformer Prime TF700T - User Reviews

  • so. i biught this tablet today (yes, today 11.6.2016) it is 3 and 1/2 year old, paid 160 € for it (roughly 200$) and it is better tham i thouht it will be. i spent half day on it. trying what he can do. and it is perfect tablet for me. ofc i had litle problems until i hooked up with what and how he is performing, but i am just satisfaided with it. good tablet!

  • My techie skills are so rusty, I would need step-by-step instructions. Sad, for a former high school tech teacher.

  • You need to install a custom ROM that will enable your tablet to use a microSD card to store its data. That gets rid of the bottleneck that causes the TF700T to run so slowly. It takes some doing however, but I did it to mine and now my tablet runs very well. Do a Google for "Custom TF700T ROM F2FS support".

  • What do you mean by "rom swap". Does the tablet perform faster? How do you install this rom to make the tablet faster?

  • how do you install this rom to make it faster? Mine is very sluggish as of now too. I bought mine at launch with the keyboard dock.

  • I have struggled with the performance issue of the TF700T for about two years. Installing the CROMi-X custom ROM helped a little. Today I discovered that almost all my performance issues go away when the keyboard dock is removed. Wow! No the thing behaves like a real tablet! :)

  • This is a well built tablet but seriously lacks performance in all areas, out of the box. With a clever ROM swap and an overclocking, this tablet is quite zippy with the exception of the total garbage network card that just refuses to move data at a viable rate.

  • It sayshere non removable battery. How dyou replace the battery ??

  • Precisely what I'd have written. I've tried a few different roms; none make the performance acceptable. Why oh why didn't I go with the nexus 10? :-(

  • I own a TF700t and also an older TF101. I'm happy with with my TF700, but yes, 2g memory is better than 1g (the tf701 has 2g but also -- even used -- is more expensive). I bought my TF700 on ebay for 230 dollars, with keyboard included. Yes, running stock Jelly Bean it lagged badly sometimes. Being a lover of custom roms anyway, I immediately installed Crombi-KK and then Zombi-X. Both are very good, much speedier, alternatives and based on the KitKat Rom instead of older Jelly Bean (where Asus left this machine). My own recommendation? If you want a very inexpensive tablet and keyboard, you cannot go wrong with the TF700. If you have a few more bucks, go for the the TF701 and its 2g of memory. And do ask yourself - For what tasks am I using this tablet? I use mine for extensive web surfing and for Bible study (the Mysword deluxe version is awesome and there are massive numbers of free downloads of commentaries and the like). So... four stars from me, it would be five if the TF700 had 2g memory.

  • I own the Asus TF700T tablet for two years now. It is a nice piece of hardware, but its default software is very bad. I recommend to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP recovery, and replace the stock Asus ROM with CROMBi-kk ROM which is Android 4.4.3 KitKat. It has much better performance. You can additionally insert a fast microSD card (class 10) into the microSD card slot, and install the CROMBi-kk ROM with the optional ROM2SD feature onto the microSD card, disk access time are then much better, which makes installing and upgrading applications much faster.

  • This tablet looks nice. The UI is cool ,but it's not worth it. It lags so much no matter what you do. I can hardly do anything on it without getting very frustrated. My phone that is a year older runs faster than it. This product is awful. I will probably never get a mobile Asus product again.

  • Hi,dearest friends. One of those high mid range tablet of Asus that I mentioned before without GSM voice calls!Good design,performance,features,cameras,Wi-Fis,and other qualities and specification!!!I hope Asus doesn't forget its update and upgrade with the powerful public relations whom are answerable to people and feel responsibilities!!!?Thanks gsmArenaMobile,Asus, and this trusable honest site users.Just justice rights+slashing of the prices logically!!!?I found no T 100 or T 200!!!?Thanks.

  • Retired after 31 years in the it profession. I am totally satisfied with my tf700t. I talk face to face with manufacturers in China daily. Video and sound are perfect. Oh, one other thing, the calls are all FREE. It eats apples for breakfast. THANK YOU Bob Hart NEWFOUNDLAND CANADA [email protected]

  • I do enjoy my tf700t, and would'nt change it to any of iPods. Here many negative things are writen about this tablet. I dont know people, what did you do to your poor gadgets, but mine with the latest ics update works perfectly! There are no apk crashes or a browser delays. I use Opera, and happy about it. My tip to you guys: -Check very carefuly what you're installing to your device! Read the notes, -what the other users think about current software. I saw here some opinions, that 1gb of ddr3 isnt enough for tf700, but I disagree, for Android OS its more than enough! But for Win8 based asus tablets, just poor.

  • The TF700T has both a beautiful screen and fine detachable keyboard but it has serious problems with speed and response time. I have communicated with ASUS support where they give suggestions about reducing applications but almost nothing helps. I have not been in contact with anyone who has a clue regarding the origin of the problem. I have been puzzled by the suggestion that the machine's response will be better if applications are reduced. When I do the "one click clean" to reduce running tasks, I can get to 0 but within minutes 16-18 tasks are again running, even if I do nothing with the machine. I appears that it is designed to overload itself and become a dog. This is a top of the line tablet by price but it is poor in performance. Has anyone gotten a meaningful response from ASUS or any information about OS upgrades that might reduce the problems? I will continue to try to get some useful information from ASUS but unless they put some attention into resolving the problems with this tablet line, I will not be purchasing any new products from them.

  • Ok, so I would really to know how well your HDMI works on Ipad 2? I am sso tired of people praising the merits of a tablet that is popular solely on the number of people who own them. I've had my TF700T for about 18 months and the only time it lags is when I have an excess of 10 apps running at once. This tablet is far more versatile than any ipad out there.

  • Do you have Asus shares?

  • I' have had my Infinity for almost two years, regular browser, Chrome and Puffin with no lags or errors. I hav no complaints other than wanting Kikat for an update.

  • The device is built well with a beutiful screen. However, the cronic problem of Browser not responding is extremely anoying. A "wait" does go on but the time is often seriously long making the machine seem very slow. This is not network problem in that it happens when I am connected to a very fast network. I assume that ASUS has no interest in fixing this problem be it hardware or software or this would have been fixed long ago. I have 64GB of internal storage and a 64GB microSD so there must be plenty of storage. The machine is dissappointing for the $600 it costs.

  • Very very slow tablet, this was a $1000.00 mistake for me, bought the 64Gb with its specific dock, based on all the superior specs, and nothing but troubles! It was so disappointing, when ASUS would not or could not fix, it suffers from an inherent input output data bottleneck, that can't supply the screen with its hi pixel rate. Internet pages on the fastest routers and services take 10 seconds to render. Tried all types of fixes, including custom roms and browsers to no avail!!! Stay away from this unit not worth the money, any money!

  • Technically a nice tablet. The browser is very problematic. I constantly get the message that the browser is not responding, do you want to wait or close it. So very slow responsetimes for the browser. I read this complaint from many people on many websites. So Asus must have been aware of it, but never did anything to solve it.

  • my asus tf700t wifi direct not working please if any one can help me and tell me what to do ???

  • Avoid it and later models too. Asus did not solve any problems tf700t. Faulty, black flickering lines. Slow. Very, very slow and laggy. Saving files from computer to tablet memory takes ages. Viewing stupid pdfs drove me crazy. I lost my money buying this hardware. If decide any i won't be straight from Asus. It oulde be better buy hardware from google because it is better optimized.

  • Hey, I have no idea as what you people are talking about I have had mine for 2 years and it runs perfectly and doesn't lag or crash so stop "I thought Asus was better than this"

  • read lots of negative comments but i have had nothing but positive experience with this tablet. runs flash fine but that did take some reading to manage. 1 gig is more than enough. just don't have a bunch of unneeded apps running and for god's sake disable any app that is never used.

  • i bought it last year, wow it sure lags, very disappointed with it, 1gb ram is not enuf for android 4.0 and up.

  • It's well build and both cameras are great, design is very good i like it, but that's about it.Almost verything about this tablet is awful, i don't like that this pad has only 1gig of ram and those crashes get's on my nerves.I thought ASUS is way better than this. I'm disappointed.

  • You're so right, i've got those crashes a lot.

  • Im sorry but I rly have to agree. Hardwarewise the pad is nice but it just does not work how its supposed to. Apps crash all the time (even the paid ones), browser unresponsive all the time, huge delay on keyboard typing.. And can't even update SW, I know there is a new version but when I try to update it says it's up to date.. Eventho I know it is now.. Just dont bother, buy an iPad if ur planning to spend this ammount of money on a tablet.

  • I have wrote comments twice before, both negative. Anyway just installed the latest update, and the tab is working much better,( streaming especially ) and all round most apps running much better. Only the browsing still very poor. Ran it alongside my iPad 2 and still a lot slower. ( tried dolphin and google chrome browsers as well still no better) but overall much better than pre update. I still think the tablet was overpriced ( 600 pounds including keyboard) expected and hoped for better, because this was supposed to be the best android tab when purchased, and I wanted it to kick apples arse. But from my experience the iPad 2 was better at most things. Might try a windows 8 tab next

  • Don't buy this very overpriced tablet. 1: I experinced random app crashes, this was due to a graphics driver bug, so i upgraded to jelly bean, not I get random reboots. 2: Browser is rubbish, is advertised as supporting flash, you have to do this manually and the HTML5 support in the browese is crap. 3: only has 1GB of ram and on startup about 700mb of that is used 4: Keeps killing off background apps etc... even though there is memory free, my puney wildfire phone doesn't even do it to that extent. This causes performance issues and annoying data loss and happens even if I root and use mount 1gb swap space. 5: Umm... how do I print stuff... opps, though that's an android issue. 6: Some idiot made the screen resolution 1920x1200 not x1080 which means that it doesn't scale up to full HD properly, doh. 7: Camera is a bit crap 8: I developed a mysterious screen crack, upon searching on the interent this appeas to be a common fault and not user damage, though good luck with the warenty department. 9: I have a dock/keyboard, the tablet keeps popping out of it which is really annoying 10: Video play back sometimes 'stutters', happens a few times if say watching a 1hr 30min movie. on the pluss side if you have ICS installed and don't upgrade to jelly bean it's a doddle to root, allyou have to do is turn debug mode on and copy accross su, no need to unlock the boot loader etc....

  • Err wait what ? ...why iPad WiFi never been complain so far although the 3G not the best choices as eating your batteries ? ...Take notes that some user prefer WiFi more then 3G itself. To me I rather using WiFi for downloading heavy content better then using my 3G. Tablet nowadays no 3G is not an issued. Its a trend right now. Learn it.....

  • I agree the RAM should be 2GB at least due to 1.6 quad core but I disagree if the tab is slow and sluggish. Hence, my tab never down on me. Playing THD hardcore gaming without issued. This is Asus not Samsung or Acer. Asus made for quality.....

  • Reading comments complaining, and I am puzzled: do you really have the same tablet I do? I have mine since September and never had any problem: works fast, gives great support for videos and games and the browsers work pretty well (the only problem is that Dolphin doesn't support Flash anymore, but this is a problem with Dolphin, not with Asus). And about the absence of native 3G, is not an issue: I just tether (this is: "to borrow the 3G via wifi") from my smartphone to my tablet. Works perfectly, and pretty fast, if you ask me. If you have a smartphone running Android 2.2 or above, you probably can tether too Of course, the ideal is to get the version with dock, as the USB is in it. But, also, I don't think is absolutely necessary (the card reader does the job, if only for storage. And usually Android USB slots are more for this, not much to connect peripherals, so...) I am absolutely satisfied with my tablet, and advise anyone felling sorry for the 3G absence to learn to tether.

  • Slow and sluggish. I dont recommend it. RAM needs t o be increased.

  • I have data with my phone, I will literally never be out with my tablet but not my phone. My phone battery would last longer than the tablets battery and the keyboard dock has a USB port on it so would never go flat before the tablet. Why would I want a second data service? Especially as having my tablet tethered to my phone's WiFi hotspot has a whole host of advantages anyway (Such as all the DLNA stuff).

  • Tether to your phone when you're out. Simple.

  • Without 3G you have to use the tablet where there is a wifi spot. An analogy is being forced to used a mobile phone only when inside a building with a fixed line - whats the point? A tablet without 3G is a waste. And why should I buy a phone to use as a wifi connection in addition to a tablet? Phones have small screens - wifi is wasted on them. Tablets sit between phones and laptops and SHOULD the connection options of BOTH

  • @Ishtiak You have to buy a router dude. they are not that expensive. they have them at best buy for like 40 bucks that would be plenty for your tablet.

  • Just install Dolphin HD. That's all!!! Your browsing experience will change. My Transformer Infinity is very fast with Dolphin HD. I just love it!!!

  • just updated to jellybean hoped this would fix the terrible browsing experience on the tablet. if anything its got worse. do not waste your money buying this tablet. im going to sell mine and try the new samsung galaxt note. after all the hype this is one of the worst tablets i have used or seen. the specs are brailliant but the tablet just cannot do what it says it can

  • Can anyone please suggest me that,do I able to use Internet modem for Internet connectivity. With this device as it is only has wi fi, option.

  • they are the same. No difference

  • Could anyone pls tell me the difference between Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700 and Asus Transformer Prime TF700T. i will get one of these in the next month and i want to buy the better one. Thanks

  • I have tried the default browser, Google Chrome and Firefox. Firefox seems to be the fastest one on Asus Infinity TF700.

  • had my asus about a month now. im very dissapointed with it the browser is very slow . facebook is a joke on it, it freezes and stops you commenting. the pages flicker and dim on there own. i also have an ipad 2. which is much faster and better at browsing. i hate apple but if this is the best android tablet, no wonder apple sells more. hope the jellybean update fixes the terrible browser experience.

  • You work for ASUS?

  • Gonna grab one

  • when will it be released??

  • So easy to be fooled huh?

  • Any idea when?

  • Guys the new one is coming out in the US. 1.7 GHz s4x processer quad core running LTE batery is 9000 mah which is amazing. Display is going to be 3446x6440 plus with the new option that allows you to run 4 videos at the same time.

  • You can share your phone's Gprs or Edge or 3G internet via wifi hotspot with this tablet easily, so don't worry about the lack of GSM capability.

  • Everybody need gsm. Who said gsm consume battery? I have xoom 3g, and when i dont use the tablet i put in under airplane mode. Only turn on gsm when iwant to browse or open social network apps. I can stand my battery about 3-5 days with mode like this

  • I think, it's great, albeit without GSM. Why do you need GSM for tablet? For me tablet is for productivity. As long as WiFi on it, it's perfect. Also, GSM consume battery. WiFi consume battery too, but it's not always used. Just perfect fit for me. It's perfect tablet for somebody who know how to use tablet properly and productively. Not for lame kid that just buy tablet for Angry B*rds and Fac*book.

  • lol this is ddr3 1066 with muscle. not lpddr2 lyk a baby

  • no gsm = epic fail

  • 1 GB of ram and no gsm ):

  • I guess this is infinity not prime

  • No celluler network, no thank you.

  • this model its the infinity

  • I think nexus 7 is better except for the resolution...

  • Wrong Cpu Overclock ! supposed to be 1.6 ghz.

  • 1.6ghz is on the Infinity, not this one.

  • the cpu should say nvidia tegra 3 quad core clocked at 1.6 ghz

  • Yeah 3G should be standard. Tethering a smartphone as a hotspot is good here and there but the it chews the phones battery so it's not efficient. With a tablets and it's larger battery 3G always on is so much better. I'ts a big loss that manufacturers are stering away from this. Fine if you're around hotspots all day in the big city in Europe but in Australia and in regional European areas there are no hotspots. AND a portable WiFi Hotspot is just something else to recharge so thats also inefficient.

  • Use your phone as a hotspot.. most people who are willing to get the best should have a phone that has hotspot capabilities. No need for 3g and pay extra

  • For those who cant live with out the tablet 3g or 4g...heres an idea buy a wifi modem and travel with it. That is the answer, quit complaining.

  • get a wifi modem and travel with it its what i do...

  • Without the 3G the pad looses mobility, for that I get a desktop!

  • which one I buy? ipad3 or this?

  • I can easy imagine a scenario when somebody uses his\her phone as a wifi access point. I don't like having multiple sim-cards and phone numbers for instance.

  • From what I've read .. there is no 3G ---- Regarding the Transformer Prime 3G rumors and Transformer 700 confusions, we want to clarify to our customers: In the wake of recent reports in the media regarding the development of a Transformer Prime Android tablet with on-board 3G, ASUS would like to take this opportunity to state that these reports are erroneous and no such product exists on our current roadmap

  • You will have a choice..The wifi.version will have the Tegra 3 while the LTE version will have a snapdragon duel core.

  • Thats one of the main reasons they made this updated version. The metallic backing caused poor wireless and GPS. The TF700T has a metal back too, but it includes a plastic strip at the top that allows the antenna to have a clear line of sight.

  • has Asus found how to resolve GPS issues from previous model yet?

  • does anyone know if it will feature the nvidia tegra-3 integreated with new nvidia direct touch technology?

  • there is a 3g and LTE version. this is the Wi-Fi only version.

  • Why no 3g?? That means it completely useless for me while on transportation .

  • Get the Asus eepad then you wouldn't need to pay for two separate connections. Comes with a phone and a larger tablet form with a keyboard all carrying separate batteries so that you could run upto 14 hrs on it.

  • Without 3G or 4G your tables are useless. Few mounts ago i decided to purchase Prime but without 3/4G i wouldn't do that. I stay and waiting to see TF700T and if it's again without 3G or 4G I'll decide to change brand ASUS froever becouse ASUS not listening users wishes and buy Samsung or Motorola. I think you will lose a lot of your customers and lot of potential future customers. So think wisely.

  • Asus it is time to listen to the customers. It is not everybody is desperate for it but some people do need 3G. I want to buy this for my parents who travel between locations so WiFi is not an option so is tethering. I do not want to end up with another Samsung product who has become a snob thinking that they premier vendor but leave their customers on long contract without software update. Come on Asus it cannot be that hard to see that 3G tablets have a market.

  • For sales, field engineers,... 3G is a MUST!! I do not want to cut my phone battery life short by using it as a wifi point. I do not have luxury of charging at any given moment... ASUS..., we need 3G... at least as an option. Please!

  • for this (without 3g) asus transformer is not a tablet best seller

  • There is no need of 3g in a tablet, just share your phone 3g connexion with yout tablet via wifi. How many guys have really need a 3g contract for the pad in addition tothe phone contract?

  • if you need more than wifi get a mobile hotspot from verizon(4g) or sprint(3g), or use your phones hotspot which is cheaper than gsm would cost you.

  • You can use wi-fi modem to connect to internet whenever there's no wi-fi connection

  • Without 3G it cannot be considered complete. While smaller companies and brands ofer wi-fi, 3g and some of them even gsm voice support, Asus cannot ofer these options in a premium quality product ? Wi-fi is not enough as data source. In trains or in remote locations where wi-fi hotspots dont exists, it practically becomes...expensive furniture.

  • That's technologies business, they are thinking just only how to earn money from you and up to date never-end. Ex: I really hate Apple brand they never gave you external-sd card, even they can do ... ADROID the huge killer Aplle(Lemon?¿>)

  • oh please asus ... implement GSM mode to TF Prime ... wifi isn't enough :(

  • In 5 words it's the best tablet ever !!!

  • why asus? we need this tablet with 3G..!!

  • I fail to understand the ANIMOSITY of ASUS with in built 3G capabilities. As I understand putting 3G hardware costs 10 to 15 USD extra which actually turns out to be less than 5% of the total price but it adds more than 100% convenience for users. Sometimes, difficult to understand these corporates' fancies like that of APPLE against flash, like that of HTC against HDMI slots, like that of motorola against open bootloaders and finally that of microsoft against expandable SD cards. Why can't these guys come together and build standardisation and then compete on innovation, quality and capability rather than features.

  • when will this be available in cebu?.. cant wait to get my hands on this gadget!

  • Best tablet ever hope it comes with a 3g version

  • the backdont look as good they hould have kept the other back byt iproved it it look cheap now

  • Although Asus was clumsy with the design of GPS and WiFi, they handled it well by offering full refund, extended warranty and together with a new product that should fix it. They gave people a reasonable choice. Much better than Apple handlet IPhane4 antenna issue - "you are holding it wrong". My only concern with this product is not to have 3G version. I know most people would not mind. Some would need it as in holidays or constantly moving between locations with no tethering option from a mobile phone. If you need it, it is a deal breaker which is for me. I cannot imagine it would be too difficult for Asus to include 3G version.

  • ICS is an individual OS , please don't make a comparison with others . If you like Android , you'll like this enormous machine .

  • Transformer Prime TF700T has: 1. a higher resolution screen and 2. a redesigned back panel, which ASUS promises to enhance GPS performance (current Transformer Prime has full aluminium back panel and that leads to a long waiting time for the GPS signal to be locked on).

  • In addition to pixel density, it also ups the front camera from 1.2 to 2 megapixel and the back case is not all aluminum anymore. Most of it is aluminum but there is a black plastic strip across the top edge that allows the Bluetooth/WiFi/GPS to work better than the original TF Prime.

  • Will wait to see what the iPad 3 offers before i make any purchases.

  • No 3g??? It will become available in philippines by february..what is your suggestion? Netbook or this?

  • the only difference with prime version1 is the pixel density am i right?

  • oh my god, asus is gonna made the best tablet in the world, do you think same of it ?

  • OMG This is really monster With optimum prime spec MUST BUY !!!
