Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5 ZS550KL - User Reviews

  • Great, beautiful Smartphone - where can i get the original Asus Clear Hardcase? It is so rare. Need it very bad.

  • Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5 - Android up to 8.0.

  • After Android 7.0 update I can't switch to the front camera, the front camera button is not present.solution?

  • I got this phone last year and when i purchased it i checked it to make sure that my active dual sim worked properly and it did until sometimes this year it stop working like it should.. if there is a call on the second line coming while i am on my first line it is suppose to show me that another caller is calling and i would be able to put first call on hold and take call from second sim and complete the second call and go back to first caller.. now it just goes to voice mail and does not let me know i had a call.. i have contacted asus and they have no clue as to the workings of the phone.. i have had it in for service but to no avail.... i am not very happy with the phone or asus.. anyone had this issue ???

  • Thank dear!

  • The phone came in a very nice box packaging and looks very premium. When first holding the phone it feels sturdy and nice to look at not to mention it's quite light weight which is a plus for me. But (in my case not sure about anyone else), when you observe the chromed part of the phone when the screen is facing you, you will notice there are small gaps of unchromed areas, in my case 4 small gaps (top side right, left side near top, bottom side right and left mirrored). Not sure if this is intentional. Upon turning on the phone, the interface(ui?) feels smooth and no stuttering can be seen. Instantly updated this phone to Android 7.0 and the performance stays the same with no problems during the upgrade process. The display is a 5.5" 1920x1080(? Forgot 😋) is very nice. In a bright open area under the sun the screen is brightness is good enough for me. Can watch YouTube at 1080p 60fps without stuttering because of the hardware that is equipped in the phone. As for the fingerprint scanner which is located at the back of the phone, it is not the fastest out there, but it does it's job. I didn't even need to put my finger on the scanner for a long time. Just a quick tap will unlock the device, do take note when I instant tap the scanner with my finger it takes a few moments to unlock the device. The 16MP camera is very nice but as many others, it suffers in low light situations when it is set on auto not to mention the not so bright camera flash. When capturing a photo you cannot move or else it will be blurry. The front facing 8MP camera is decent, can use it to pick my nose from time to time. I do not really use the camera much as I'm not a camera guy so I can't give any detailed points for it, sorry. The 3000mAh battery life is decent and very situational as I used occasionally watch videos on YouTube and sometimes browse 9Gag from morning to the end of the day, you can expect the battery to be around 30%~ left based at least on my usage. The fast charging is very convenient just plug it in at 20% and let it charge for an hour it is near fully charge. Again, battery life in day to day use is situational. The LTE is a very nice upgrade from my last phone (Samsung J3 2016). On my old phone I can hardly get LTE (I use WEBE/Unifi sim card) at my place (KKTM Kemaman hostel near facing a forest) if I do not move around to search for LTE leaving the confort of my bed. On the new phone I can laze on my bed without leaving it and enjoy the LTE connection. This is also situational to the place you're living. The speaker is a bottom facing type. The audio at max is very loud as it has an "outdoor" option, but sometimes causes the audio to break or have that unclear feeling about it. Can't describe it well LOL. Would have been nice if it the device is a dual speaker, but got to live with what I pay for. As for the included earphones, the quality is nice and they also include extra ear buds in the earphone box if you somehow to lose the buds. When jamming the earbuds into the ear hole (? Lol) you can barely hear anything outside unless it's loud. When set on highest volume the earphones doesn't really sound so good but in the mid range volume it's decent. When volume is at max the Hissing when a word with letter "S" sound is too high pitched it hurts my eardrums. Well that's all. Hope this helps anyone decide whether this phone is for you or not.

  • Gallery app didn't support all images and video files so if you want to watch, install something like MX video player.

  • Lithium Ion Polymer (LiPo) batteries are more expensive to manufacture and offer only slightly higher battery life. So they probably used Lithium Ion instead of LiPo to keep costs down.

  • yes, it is. just bought one

  • Interesting and good spec for its price but the battery was quite disappointing. Previous unit was Li-Po why would they make this one Li-Ion battery? Btw anyone know how does ZenUI 3.0 perform? what are its strong points and downsides?

  • Hi Everyone! Can't play video: My Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5 (ZS550KL) can't play video with GALLERY of Asus but for photos work well. Plese help me! Thank!

  • nice

  • is this available in the phillippines?

  • ZS550KL (Z01FD) does have a am/fm radio, laser for cam and ruler app, and the sound of the earbuds are great until you max the volume. The speaker volume is not the loudest I have heard, but it works just fine. The picture quality is nice, (a little grainy in low light), and the display is very bright and crisp. The processor speed and memory are more than enough to run multiple apps at a time, and the storage can be upgraded, adding a memory card to one of the slots of the dual sim tray. I have upgraded to Android 7.0 N and have yet to have any problems with anything on the phone. I love the fingerprint reader on the back. It works well as long as you make sure to capture your print at the right angles. Battery life is very good. Sometimes it will take about 2 days for me to drain the battery with moderate use, (movies, hotspot, news, weather, and music).

  • Paid a little over 400usd with overnight delivery. Worth it in my opinion..

  • What is the exact price of this handset?

  • Try to factory reset the phone!

  • Guys...help please...just updated my Asus zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5 to Android Nougat 7.0 after the update I could not access my Google play store...After the update my unit turns laggy...

  • what is different zenfone 3 deluxe 5.5" vs zenfone 3 ZE552KL?

  • why no deluxe review GSMarena????

  • Are you Indonesian,nick ?

  • My dearest brother. Thanks for your mentioning it.I must add that prices are different from place to place according to moderating circumstances!!Right now as I see ,it is $500!!Thank you again (Truly).Justice Rights.Omid12Omivar.

  • The dearest knowledge enthusiasts.Regardless of specifications here,as an upper midrange smartdevice, the mixer of Google android and Asus gives a unique betterment to Asus productions!!An advanced file manager,a strong HTML5 browser, good cameras, necessary WiFi but not complete, high Bluetooth criteria of nowadays, not enough battery,...altogether working properly on a device with a chance of upgrade to android nought!SD 625 as a midrange norm is OK too!!Hopefully Asus has done enough testings in its labs before offering it to the market!!!Price of $400 is natural for those whomever can afford it from Asus one of big shots in electronic software hardware technology of the world!GSMArena review,of course,is much more profound about it in intel atom eras! Thanks mentioned names.Omid12Omivar,....

  • woah..5.5" variant?dont even know that

  • It's available in Indonesia ? Hard to find this one in here.

  • the price of this phone is 379$ not 530$ and its really good for this price and it will be cheaper in a following month

  • Yeahh.. Using it for universal remote.. Aircond.. Tv..

  • About that? Deluxe is not enough and its price range why dont you have a very useful water resistant? Picture taking under the water and for accident even if in salt sea can survive?

  • Dearest fellows. It is a better midrange smartdevice with a price of $530 not digestible for many !!!Also SD 653 , WiFi dual band , DLNA ,4000+mah may have been forgotten to be written but havingnNFC,IR,and complete Bluetooth,USB c are advantages too !!About using hybrid dual SIM slot and using the second one as a memory slot, being mentioned in all GSMArena reviews,as long as buyers do not say anything and brands do not care at all,has become a wrong habitat unfortunately,....Thanks all.Justice Rights,....

  • its irrelevant thease new series haven't any issues and i have to say the last model was good enough specially for the price the problem was the max brightness of screen and camera could be better and compatibility problems of some app with intel cpu but zenfone3 and deluxe version are superb now camera screen quality and brightness performance...

  • I agree with you. Deluxe... at least snapdragon 652.

  • Good luck with that... Their software division sucks bigtime!!! They don't even listen to their customers.

  • Does Zenfone 3 has infrared? Did you use that?

  • Why do this people keep making hybrid sim slot for 2nd sim card and MicroSD ? This is the exact reason I have to stick to my Zenfone 2 Listen, there are alot of people out there who has 2 active numbers and also still needed the extra memory... Stop making Hybrid Sim Slot !!! Please.... I love the zenfone I have proudly use Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 2, but now I cannot buy Zenfone 3 for that reason I mentioned.

  • ZenUI is very bugy and consumes battery very much.

  • I bought this zs550kl last week.. Why do I chose this model instead of ZE552KL.. Though it has same chipset.. 1. Premium aluminium built vs Glass built Gorilla 2.5D 2. NFC vs No NFC 3. Infra red vs No infra red 4. Corning Gorilla glass 4 vs Corning Gorilla 3 5. Quick charge 3.0 vs Standard Charge 6. USB v3.0 vs USB v2.0 My reviews.. Battery consumption really great with moderate use for gaming.. High Internet surfing.. last for about 1 day.. Full charge from 15% to 100% takes 1 hour 30 minutes.. Less heating issue as playing high graphic games and a bit heat when taking video for a long duration.. No lags found when playing high graphic games such Asphalt Extreme.. Camera and video great for moderate lighting but suffers in low light unless u use manual mode.. It much assist.. Fingerprint efficiently response most of time.. Also can be used to take selfie.. Touch gesture if u draw certain alphabets during idle really aids when u in need.. Connectivity great for 3G/LTE/WiFi.. Depends on coverage of your network provider.. Durability is awesome till now.. Sometimes i slept on my phone (67kg)..but no crack on screen..indeed sometimes my phone jumble with my keys in the pocket.. But no scratches.. Still waiting for my phone case and tempered glass ordered from ali express.. Hope that not to drop my phone till they arrived..

  • all? i got ze551ml for almost a year now. update to M? no issues here. maybe its on how you updated your phone. re-do your update procedure.

  • Actually zenfone 3 deluxe is sports with Snapdragon 821 and an Adreno 530 GPU

  • Same thing that makes samsung a galaxy

  • I found here in the philippines the asus deluxe 5.5 were take so long to be available. I prefer to smartphones must be durable than a glass one thats the consumers want it! When and where it will be availble the deluxe 5.5 variants here in the philippines please asus ship here in the philippines.

  • aluminum instead of glass

  • update all zenfone 2 first and then release zenfone 3 , a lot of bugs and errors @ zenfone 2

  • just price of course

  • What makes this 'deluxe'?

  • Those who are saying Asus is a bad brand phone because of Zenfone 2 or earlier models. Your opinion is irrelevant because those are cheap. Nowadays Zenfone 3 models are expensive for a reason, a lot better quality and performance than their predecessors. You should really try to own 1 before being so negative, plus it's a lot cheaper since it launched. I would easily pick this as the king of mid range over any phones, for now.

  • Just realized that I posted the wrong link to the ASUS Zenfone 2 forum. Here's the correct link:

  • You're kidding, right? A note to potential buyers, please be sure to see what owners of the previous generation Zenfone 2 have to say before making any decision...

  • asus works fine for me, tried other brands but i had the same sentiments as you.. by far asus is the only brand that keeps on updating their apps and developing os for updates. i experienced total recall with other brands, bootloop and insanely priced fons that not even worth it.

  • same thing happened to me. sucks.

  • Thats the 5.7" (ZS570KL) version.

  • I thought they say its a 6gb RAM?! Why does it says only 4GB RAM???

  • Absolutely don't buy these Asus phones, I'll explain why...I picked the 4GB 2.3Ghz Zenfone 2 ZE551ML product 10 months back. Till date Asus has not been able to release a bug free Android M update. After months of waiting they released an Android M update in August end, but the update was totally buggy and causes major battery drain on the phone. Asus then withdrew the update and till date all these phones are on Android L.... Asus is not able to provide proper software support, has a lacksidical software development team and a total hit and miss approach to software updates. It is much better buying other manufacturers products !

  • does ASUS think that we the consumers are stupid to fall for this kind of gimmick?i hope they don't sell a single unit of this model coz' its totally a big ripoff.

  • whoever buys this version of this Zenfone 3 is gonna get ripped off soooo much since the specs on this thing is basically the same as the base model Zenfone 3 except for the metal unibody.might as well buy the base models for $100 bucks cheaper with the same specs.

  • it is because about the battery dude 5.5 is smaller than 5.7 besides it only have ahh 3000 mAh battery in a bigger display dude so 5.5 is better. Hope u see that what i really meant :)

  • Can anyone provide an external link to this? I can't seem to find it anywhere. The only results I get are that of the Zenfone 3 ZE552KL (the only other Zenfone 3 that has 5.5 is the 3 Laser), and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL, which is 5.7 inch.

  • I don't see why a 5'5 display would be better than a 5'7 display....... its not on the display dude.... its what inside the device that makes a phone "Flagship."

  • just google it and you will find.

  • deluxe is a high end and a flagship of asus!!!!

  • this 5.5 version is better than 5.7 version but asus make it a lower specs?? wish asus read this

  • when can i buy ur flagship 5.5 version here in the PHILIPPINES?

  • Lol......

  • where is the specs for the 5.7" one?!

  • its up to you and keeping open your mind.

  • ASUS is a bad brand for phone. I bought zenfone 2 and still stuck in lollipop. Not only a year, I have so many shit problems: bad battery life, ghost touches, broken home, return, and the other buttons. It's really suck! instead doing a better with the zenfone 2, they launch another new series. Don't really recommended it ASUS phones. I don't care if this one is getting better, for me I won't trust any ASUS phone anymore.

  • check the bands. The regular zen3 might not capatible with your local LTE.

  • I think better to buy Regular Zenfone 3 4GB RAM (whatever if its Zenfone 3 5.2 inch or 5.5 inch version) cause I think buy this version of Zenfone 3 seems weird. And Regular Zenfone 3 its more saving your money.

  • Say hello to Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6 Plus.

  • Just 3 Ampere battery?. Zenfones are wastefones.

  • It should have come with Snapdragon 652. To really differentiate it from the regular Znf3.

  • It only adds NFC and fast charging from the regular zenfone 3

  • with the current pricing, still not worth to replace your current zenfone 2 4gb

  • Should i buy this zenfone 3 delux 5.5 or a normal zenfone 3 with 4 gb ram ? Please tell me witch one is better

  • What's the upgrade? Corning Gorilla Glass 4, all metal built quality, slightly higher screen-to-body ratio and Quick Charge 3.0

  • Asus got way too famedrunk after the zenfone2s success. Ch3ap hardware and ancient updates won't f00l people anymore. Their pricing got a little steep for their place. I wish they'll remember their place someday.. P!ty

  • This is literally a Samsung C7 that can shoot 4k with a bit smaller screen.Worth the price if you put Samsung C7 side by side. But it's lacking a radio (i sure it has one but oh well),less battery and slower quick charge. Would be better if they put SD 650/2 with this price though.C'mon Asus be better than Samsung, not going their way.

  • they should use SD 652 with that price

  • The same ZenFone 3 , Another name ..... The only difference that there is only one memory configuration , unlike the base ZenFone 3 ......

  • What is wrong with Asus wasn't delux their high end flagship, I feel they are trying to trick people into buying cheap phones for flagship prices by giving them.same name .

  • Expensive

  • fantastic specs
