Asus Zenfone Max (M1) ZB555KL - User Reviews

  • from the asus web there is already an update, but the OS pie beta, I haven't tried it. Has anyone tried Pie beta?

  • I bought this phone on a sale(20%).So when I bought this phone it had some lags, maybe this is a issue that shope made and I was little bit disappointed about it. Later lags stopped for 4 months, but than they came back. For me, phone memory is litle bit too small. If you want to make a lot photos, you'll need to buy a SD card (16 gb or 32 gb). Camera is very nice, I like that fact that it has a double camera, you can make a very nice landscape photos. If you want to play games (for example PUBG) this phone will be OK. Overall, if you aren't a maniac phone user, or you just like to have everything fast and pure, this phone won't fit you. My grade: 6,5/10

  • I suggest choosing Redmi5plus with a higher spec at a slightly more expensive price

  • Well, it definitely has nice specs but for me, I can't even feel that the phone has those specs. I am an owner since october and up until now, I can't even see that the phone is worth its price. Poor battery life, can't properly connect to mobile data, and devastatingly poor camera. I love installing games and taking photographs that is why I am so much disappointed. The phone can't even last 5 hours of continuous surfing with mobile data.I regretted the day I chose to own this mid range phone. I should have chose to buy a Realme C1 or even a pre-loved iphone 5s. Maybe those phones are much worthier than this crappy device.

  • Yes without any issues or lag u can play

  • Try one hand mode

  • Factory reset your phone from recovery mode by clearing and erasing all phone data after Dat it should work

  • Uhhm..I think you're in the wrong comment section bruh. You're talking about the Pro version of the M1, this is the vanilla version. This only has 4000mah.

  • Mine worked fine.

  • I can't recommend this phone with it's camera. But if you're into gaming then it's a go to.

  • Agree..camera is so bad when going for night photography. Image to is too noisy and quality is very muddy.

  • I think it depends on your location..if you think other phones work well for you, then I suggest you use that. Don't blame the product for your issues. Because other users may not have the same experiences like yours when it comes to using this product. Just sayin'.

  • Is that M1? I didn't know they have 5k mAh. Mine is just 4k but its working pretty fine. I bought it for gaming as well but it doesn't take me 7 hrs to charge the phone. You also have to consider the fact that its not a fast charging phone since it has a large battery mAh, asus wants to prolong the life of the battery. I charge my phone every night because my phone can last for a day, so I don't really know how long it takes to fully charge. When I do forgot to charge my phone at night, the 40% battery can still last as long as I turn on the battery saving mode and lower the brightness. And when I charge it for a few min it gets a decent amount of battery that can last long time. Also, maybe your graphics while playing pubg is too high, and maybe you are playing it in high volume without the earphones. Just maybe. But I really don't think there is an M1 with 5k mAh.

  • I didn't enable the double tap to lock the phone but I did enable the double tap to wake it up. Sometimes it does not respond at once. But it didn't really bother me for a long time. I noticed that when its laying down and it didn't respond to the double tap I hold it up and double tap to wake it up and it works.

  • Its almost 3 months since I bought this phone. I'm still pretty okay with it. There are ups and downs, but I got this for a cheap price since M2 was released recently. The ups of this phone is its cheaper because of M2. Battery life of my phone can last for a day. I don't use my phone all day, because I do eat, sleep, watch netflix on laptop... I do stuff other than use my phone. The downs, its not a really popular phone to have a tempered glass for it. In my place, it doesn't have a temper glass for M1. When you found one with the same size, the corner of the temper glass doesn't stick cus thd phone is kinda curved on the sides. The port for charging is upside down. The free earphones sounds bad. Doesn't really have a good touch response. When you check the files its kinda confusing. Taking videos is unstable..... There's actually a lot of downs. But I bought this phone for its specs considering its price. I didn't need it to be really good or else I would be buying something more expensive and better than this. Its pretty good imo and its working pretty well. If there are phones that are better than this, okay. But I won't care because this phone is working fine. Since there's been a lot of bad reviews about this phone, which I'm not having, then my tip for those wanting a phone. Do your research. Know what specs you really NEED. The specs you want it the last thing you need to check. Look for phones with all the specs you need, then eliminate the phones that doesn't have the specs you want. Then just compare which ones you like from all the research you've done. Just do your research. If you find this M1 crappy, that's because you didn't do you research right.

  • Using this phone for last 4 months... honestly..saying.. totally fed up with device.I bought this device because of its 5000mah battery.but the only use of this massive battery is to increase the weight of the phone.I play a lot of games, that's why i seek for better battery life.but the battery is draining like hell.and sometimes the phone will take about 7-8 hours to get fully charged. I contacted the service centre and they serviced the phone 3 times within this 4 months. During the 1st week the battery backup was excellent and i got a backup of 2days.But the problem began after an update.the Asus people is not even trying to fix the issue. The phone consumes around 14%-17% of battery on playing one round of pubg, while my friend's redmi note 5 pro with 4000mah battery consumes only about 8%-10% of battery. I bought this device only for gaming.but now i realise that was a foolish decession choosing this device.Another drawback is the camera. The front camera is the worst among the segment.. Having the 5000mah, i need to charge the phone for 2 times in one day. So if you are planning to buy this device, think twice.

  • Anyone having issue with double tap feature in this phone?, When i turn off my phone with double tap it always works but when i double tap to wake up sometimes doesn't work.

  • Asus Zenfone max m1 earphone sound very bad with battery charge out

  • Headphone audio effect is very bad

  • I got mine 3 weeks ago and I am very satisfied. Battery can stand 3 days of usage (once I had over 9 h of screen-on-time). When idle, the phone can get as low as 24 C (normally around 30 C), but heavy usage can heat it up to 40 C. Build quality is good, the phone is nice to hold. Its body attracts fingerprints, fortunately it comes with a plastic case. IPS display is good with decent viewing angles, but it has no blue light filter or night mode. It has multitouch, EIS and a portrait mode with bokeh (but no pro/manual). I didn't test PUBG, but if you want good performance I recommend version with Snapdragon 430. There are at least 4: - USA version with SD425 and 16GB (avoid it) - International with SD425 and 32GB - Asian with SD430 and 32GB (the best) - Indian with SD430, 32GB and 3GB RAM, but without dual camera (listed as ZB556KL). I bought the International from Amazon and I intend to use it for many years. Its main rival was Honor 9 Lite (ASUS won by having bigger battery and wide angle camera).

  • Can everyone tell me if they're satisfied with this phone? Performance, Battery, Heating issues, Build Quality, Display? I'm looking for a phone in this price range to use for at least 2 years, that can also handle games like PUBG. I know that Asus is pretty good in general. Thank you in advance!

  • Templar and not pouch in online

  • mine worked fine if there is proper lighting

  • does it have multitouch??

  • For moderate use the 4000 mAh battery gives me 7h 10m of SOT on first full recharge.

  • Yes, it has split screen.

  • can i know about battery life

  • Split screen is available in the phone ?

  • I have Snapdragon 430 version and 3/32. I can play PPSSPP with MHFU rom with it

  • I bought this and used it about a week. My country origin is Indonesia and got this Snapdragon 430 version with single rear cam @13 MP and front is @5 MP. It come with 3GB of RAM & 32GB internal memory. It's very strange how I got different specification than what I see in GSMarena especially for the cam. and a lot of people doesnt know this version is exist. Dont know but I think somehow the camera is bad or app problem but really is quite disappointment

  • i have not had a single problem with this phone so really it depends on what your doing i guess

  • Listen up, Fanboy. It's not just me. Look at reviews. Look at Asus' own forums. Do some searching on Google. People have major issues with this phone. It's garbage and people should avoid it.

  • I recently bought it, but to play songs using the headset the sound is very small, I have tried adjusting the audio wizard with no changes

  • Shut the hell up you are the one facing that problem,if urs having problem fix it ,it's u and ur phone but stop telling people to avoid this great nice and smart phone just because yours is faulty mine is 100% ok no issue

  • You should avoid this smart"phone". I use "phone" because it hardly works as one. The phone randomly boot loops which can last for hours. Ejecting the sim will stabilize it but then no phone service. Asus' solution is to run it in safe mode which means goodbye apps. Also, the signal quality is very poor. I can't make or receive calls in my home unless I'm 1 foot or less from a window! And when I do get a call to connect the audio crackles. I have a $30 Alcatel that does better using the exact same sim! Android 8.0, 18:9 aspect ratio, Finger print scanner and face recognition all for $150. This should be a great phone but if it can't even perform it's basic function as a phone then it's worth $0.

  • Does it really has EIS

  • No . It depends on the earphone/headset that you are using .. Asus earphone is built for mild and balance but much clear .. If looking for much volume using a earphone i suggest use samsung earphone its the best promise :)

  • Are this smartphone have a great sound if use in earphone? I'm love listening music everytime. I need more recomendation...

  • I am going to buy it soon.. so after you bought this phone you must update it if there is an update already after buying it so that you can use it with less bugs? does it have so many bugs?

  • Yes, it does. Sensor Rear fingerprint sensor (supports 5 fingerprints), Accelerator, E-Compass, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, >> Gyroscope That's top for this price-level.

  • Please allways post wich version (SD425 or SD430) are you using, talking about! SPECS depending on country. I think for gaming SD430 is much better, it's FHD capable, on HD+ should be good enough. If battery life is more important for you, try to get one with SD425 SoC. More about that in Zenfone Max (ZC550KL) reviews.

  • Gudafternoon. Just want to share my review on asus zenfone max (m1). At first, the problem was the battery but after the released update on the software, the condition of the battery is now better and it lessen the warning of battery usage. That's all, Thanks 😀

  • I am using this unit and it works fine for me...I use the Listenit music player..try adjusting the equalizer's bass just above the 0 line but no too high..same goes to the treble or if you dont like too much treble just rest it in the 0 line...and also set the audiowizard to "PURE". This setting works perfectly for me..and also beware of low quality earbuds or headphones.

  • Good, I love my phone Asus Zenfone Max M1 very much it's very usefull for gaming Like MLBB & PUBG

  • try skullcandy earphone... just beware of fake earphone... and also use the audio wizard of your asus if it is not yet activated...

  • Good day! I am not convinced with the sound quality of my Zenfone Max M1, the sound quality that I am reffering is when I am using my earphones, headset, etc. I hate the cracky sound it hurts my ears, and it really lacks bass, I am using three differrent earphones, and still it doesn't meet my standards, and whenever I use the free asus earphones it's worse than ever. I've also tried using a lot of equalizers and sound boosters at the playstore but still it doesn't do any good either. I bought this phone at Robinsons Mall Naga. This is my first time having an asus product though.

  • Yes it is a nice smartphone, I bought mine last July 12 and over all it works perfectly fine for Me. Only once I charge it per, day. :)

  • How to root this phone? Think this is less popular phone btw

  • I thought it has dual camera, but when i bought it in the online shop, i got single sim version... So sad :(

  • rear camera is single or double?..

  • Does it have a gyroscope sensor?

  • How about nfc,?

  • I tried mine niw in IG story and it's in full screen

  • mine works perfectly fine for MOBA

  • It's battery life is awful. Lasts up to 3 hours on maximum data usage and heavy gaming.

  • Hi giys, Any other honest feedback about this phone? I just bought one today. I hope I will not regret it:(

  • Why is the Mobile Legends not responding in this Unit? Anyone knows the reason why????? :( :( :(

  • Phone is ok... But it cannot play PPSSPP apk games.... Is there's anyone here tried to make it work in this unit? Also it only last for 4-5 hour on games thru 4g connection... Im only playing CoC ang DBZ legend. 😢😢😢 Also it's sometimes sleep when opening more than 5 windows tabs screen you need to push power button to open it cuz finger scanner won't work on it.

  • there is no asus customize settings because of that all my downloaded files are saved in internal storage

  • yahh bat. is good but the screen is not scratch proof .. and its really hard to find tempered glass that will fit for this. .

  • Is the battery life good? Im planning to buy this or nova 2 lite. Help me. Thanks

  • Really? Gorilla glass?mine is only 7days old, Ive got some scratch after playin .. Im very disapointed... My old zenfone 4 is better, 10years =no scratch

  • Well, not all..I previously own a Zenfone Go (ZB551KL) and it has a decent earphone sound volume..As well as my friends' Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) and Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL)...I think it's just the max series that suffers this problem (not to include the max series of ZF3 and ZF4)..

  • mine's got 50% out of the battery in a day in a minimal usage (includes browsing on wifi)..overall, it's a pretty good phone..

  • this phone has a capability to stop all running programs in background(meaning application running without notice) . just look in battery settings, and turn off all running program especially the default program. mine last for 4-5 days with minimal usage. I hope it can help.

  • how's your batts?

  • Good phone for me

  • Same issue here. Battery drains quick and it takes a while to fully charge.

  • Kinda wondering how long does it really have to take to charge this baby.

  • Mine face unlock feature is not functioning too, can not make seem to make it work. Anyboday here was able to make it work?

  • Yes there is just bought mine yesterday.

  • Just got the phone 1 week ago and noticed batery drains too fast and it gets hot while on a call :( #notsatisfied

  • Is this phone have gyroscope sensor?

  • From my experience, I have to use a Bluetooth/wireless headphones or earphones to enjoy loud music.

  • It cant view ig stories in full screen? Is there a way to fix that?

  • Because 18:9 > 2:1 :) my phone is 210:105 wooooo :)

  • I think all Asus phones are like that. Same with my previous Asus Zenfone Max z010d. It has low volume when using earphones.

  • 4k video quality on these phone?

  • Since the phone still in warranty, better go to Asus centre,Something might wrong, but previous Asus phone i use,the battery just average, not so impressive..

  • Does this phone really doesn't last for 1 whole day?! Been using this for 2 days now.. Mine was fully charged at around 9 am but got 11% at around 7 pm. I used it very minimal in browsing Facebook, FB messaging and like total of 15 mins video clips in FB using Facebook App; and then idle time connected to data. I did not even used it for regular & video calling, browsing sites in browser - Google Chrome but still got 11% that fast?!

  • I've been using this phone for a week and it's actually good! Fast finger print sensor, nice bokeh effect, wide angle is nice. Although when I view an Instagram Story, it's not full screen. The edges of the IG pic is not complete, but it's okay. No big deal 😄

  • Is anybody having issue with the sound using in-ear headphones? Mine sound is kinda too weak. Pls reply other users. Thank you.

  • I have this phone for over a week. It has a descent camera both front and rear with bokkeh effect and wide angle, although NO EIS and Pro camera features. Acceptable battery life (5000mah is still better). Smooth performance. Fast finger print sensor

  • Been using this for over a week and it is good. Camera w/ bokeh, battery life, performance are all good enough. No heating issue. Actually love the size, quite heavy for its size but just enough. Cant seem to make face unlock work but not using it anyway since the fingerprint works well. Overall its a good buy.

  • "Special Features Digital TV" Has it the Version in the PH, or only other Version? Can sby check pls

  • I own a asus 4 max lite 4100mah n asus max m1 4000mah, sorry dnt get me wrong both are good battery life. . 4 max lite last a bit longer..maybe the higher spec n wider screen 5.5 of max m1.

  • is the phone good? im planning to buy another phone from asus after had the nougat version - and its gonna be my 2nd phone from them- i like the 4000mah bat

  • Dude...it's the Pro version you are talking about....you must be on the wrong page...

  • YouTube is not in full screen, and when I open the App Scaling setting it is disabled. Anyone facing same issue while using YouTube with this phone?

  • Hi Jonathan, are you actual user of this phone? You are saying that the battery life is not good? Please reply since I am planning to buy this phone. Thank you.

  • M1's Battery drain faster than asus 4 max lite

  • Can PubG mobile run in this Zenfone M1? Thank you.

  • I know the specs other than the battery is kinda underwhelming, but small phone with 2:1 display? Perfect. Why don’t other company do this? Not everyone fond of big phones.

  • Battery ok Screen ok Resolution ok Zen ui ok Size small ok But please use snapdragon 450 and above with 4gb/64gb.

  • LOL.. M1 4000 Mah and Pro 5000 Mah.. Wake up broo !

  • Asus Zenfone M1 has 5,000 mah battery, not 4,000...

  • Does it going to have a LED indicator??

  • Its because the price is so cheap

  • 2:1 versus 4:3 lol you just made it harder for the average consumer to visualize the dimensions of the screen lmao

  • If you want get a lot of midle customer this is what will you do 1. 3Gb - 32Gb 2. 4000 or 5000 mah of battery 3. Snapdragon 4. Single good quality Camera in front and in the back. We dont to much need bokeh effect. 5. USB OTG, and bundle it with mini external Keyboard and mouse. This is the way to make fastest typing.

  • good phone and the size is just right. but the soc is meehh sd430? really its 2018 right?!

  • It is the best combination for long life time battery... because big battery with small screen. But unfortunately there is no OTG... how much the price to adding otg usb?

  • just buy more budget phone, and you will get more spec of snapdaragon

  • Why not...this is not a flagship phone or mid range...but low end device

  • hey asus! why still use snapdragon 425 and 430??..come on man!! it's 2018!!!

  • Where can I buy it?

  • i use asus n its a great phone, asus overheating when they use intel procesor, but now they dont use intel anymore, my zenfone 2 max with snapdragon works great until now, :)

  • Qualcomm series 4xx soc.. As lousy as thousands of phones before it. low screen resolution.

  • Great phone I'm looking for. Size is not too large, long battery, 2 SIM and delicated microSD card slot, chipset Qualcomm. Excellent for a long trip

  • I previously used ASUS phone. The phone's performance are decreasing day by day.

  • Asus is not a reasonable choice for a phone, but i appreciate their choice of aspect ratio.

  • ...Also 16:10 ratio on a 720x1440 display is incorrect... which reminds me that 18:9 is also wrong for a couple of reasons: 1-in phones that is 9:18 and I dont know why we keep saying 18:9, 16:9 and so on 2-that ratio actually simplifies to 2:1 (or 1:2), so can we just say that instead of being dumb?! We never called 4:3 monitors 12:9, that is why you learn fractions when youre 10.
