  • Probably need to back up your contacts to a computer w/BlackBerry Desktop installed (https://www.blackberry.com/us/en/support/deskto­p-software-downloads), then transfer to either iTunes or your iCloud account to get them onto your iPhone. Maybe import the contacts from BlackBerry Desktop to Outlook, then to your iPhone. Other options would be to try exporting your contacts as VCF file or you might have to text or e-mail each one if all else fails.

  • Hello I am desperate to get a smartphone which doesn’t give me pains. I am suffering from kind of unexplainable electro-sensitiveness. The DAS amount doesn’t seem to matter in my case, conversely to the majority of people suffering of electro-sensitiveness. I don't get head aches and serious symptoms like that, fortunately. (for the moment!) Otherwise I would never plan to use a BB phone! the DAS being very high, as for the Iphones. Most of electro-sensitive people flee BB and Iphones! The thing, in my case, is that when I touch any smartphone, and even some tablets, it triggers unbearable pains within minutes. The pains last several days. I had to stop then. No choice. I know that it can sounds weird but that’s it. in my view, it comes from A +B A = the sensitiveness of my nerves. B = the electro magnetic fields, which are generated by either the touchscreen, or-and by the numerous antennas (WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC sometimes!) that we all hold in hour hands, guys, when using a smartphone! So, I recently had the idea of getting a non-touchscreen phone : I thought about BlackBerry, then. I thought that a Bold 9870 could be a good idea, even though I am not sure of nothing. Not sure that the Bold 9780 won’t give me pains, but I woudl like to try. I did purchase a brand new one and I’m now waiting for the delivery. I would like to ask several questions to you: Will I be able to run Skype, for ex., and other basic nice apps despite of the old OS version, which is 5 or may be 6. What nasty limitations will I experiment for sure? Is it possible to upgrade the Bold 9780 system, from 5 to 6, if necessary? We are in December 2016! I have seen the BB Classic in a store one hour ago: for me it is disappointing, because much too big in my hand. The keyboard didn’t drive me crazy too. But I believe that the Bold 9780 is smaller.I read nice reviews. It is clearly far much better to use a phone with a touchscreen nowadays, of course, but it is forbidden for me as I explained above. My goal is not too ambitious: If possible, I would like to use a not too big phone... - Allowing me to occasionally surf on the Internet via WIFI (OK the screen will be small, I know) - With a good sound in conversation - May be some basic good apps. - To send -receive emails. Gmail and others. - Have a camera in my pocket, which is much more convenient than to have to get my camera with me. It is too big, fragile and expensive. Even though it is a Sony RX 100 one, it is not useful at all, then most of the time I don’t have the camera with me. I have never used a BB phone but I know very well computers, and other brands of Phones. Your advice and ideas will be welcome! Thanks! (English not being my native language, I hope I didn't make too many mistakes writing)

  • So I recently ordered this phone from ebay as a second phone to use it for calls and texting. It arrived 3 days back. As of writing, its been 24 hours since the last charge and I have sent and recieved a total of 400 whatsapp messages, did 10 mins voice call, sent 10 SMS, browsed the internet over wifi for some 10-12 mins and downloaded a mp3 file of size 9.2 MB, restarted the phone 2 times while changing the sim card and it still has 70% battery left. Wow, this is just crazy. I was on EDGE and WIFI all the time. It means I can go 3 days on a single charge with my usage pattern. This is just fantastic.

  • I have been using the Bold 9780 for about 4 years now(2011-2015). The phone has been amazing to use with super good battery life with the about 30min of calls, 3G email/ internet and facebook app whatsapp, 20min mp3 play morning and evening_= close to 2 day battery life. The blackberry pc suite is easy to use too and backups taking less than 40sec from start to end. ***Cons Unfortunately the apps on the store are not many which hense the reason to move to an Iphone 5 32GB. For a person who is looking for work horse and not into many app usage the BB Bold 9780 is one of the best to phones to have in your pocket.

  • I believe its because you cant download apps over wifi, blackberrys REQUIRE a data plan with your service provider to download apps, if u jave a data plan, then it may be a motherboard problem, or check your connections in the menu that appears when u click the telephone signal icon

  • Yes, 4gb is small. It can take up to 32gb. I am using 16gb on bold 4 (9780) and it works perfectly.

  • Probably the 'ribbon' that connects the screen with the board is damaged. try using your nails to press on the connector ribbon and press the unlock button repeatedly if the screen comes in to life for a second, then it's ribbon problem. The best solution is to replace the screen. (It's going to cost you though)

  • You may have to format your memory card for your bb. Certain files eg. Music or fotos taken frome a Nokia phone may not be viewed or listened to on a bb because of formatting issues.

  • This is a good phone. Whatsapp, facebook, twitter, viber(now with calls), line, wechat etc... Doesn't lag and crash. Camera is very good for a 5MP shooter. Only thing now is battery life is pretty bad now as the phone is 2 years old for me. Lasts nearly 11 hours on edge. 3G is about 4 hours. All and all a solid good phone that doesn't lag

  • Glad that you're going well with your buddy the Bold 9780 dude. Well, seems the problems is not about your device but your memory card the microSD is corrupted. Have you had sync your data routinely with your pc from your memory card Because if its happen unfortunately you cannot restore your data from memory card.   • The Bold 3 9780 is one of the nicer BB's in the market. Its a must buy for the first time Blackberry user who wants to join the bbm fraternity or simply wants to flaunt the blackberry. It has ample space for the heavy duty applications being created even by RIM. The Blackberry messenger used to be a 1 MB file which has gone to 6 MB. Older phones cannot keep up even the Bold 2 9700 once you update to OS 6 you have to keep deleting applications here and there to make space for the really essential ones. This should not pose a problem in the Bold 3 which comes on OS 6 though OS 5 is available for the adventurous like me. Battery life is good for a Blackberry mostly going slightly more than a day. Its a toss between too much data especially using 3G and Wi-Fi or talk time. The phone is sturdy though the Bold 2 and this one does have a squeezed keyboard so people with big hands like me need to take extra care when typing fast. You get used to it though. Having gone through all the models launched by RIM I hardly ever refer to the keys. This is one of the nicer models pre OS 7 so people who want the latest should go for the Bold 5 or the new Curves not the Bold 4 or the Curve 3G aka 9300. Read my review on the Bold 4 9930.

  • Check if the screen is broken or just a WHITE screen problem. You can rectify the White screen problem yourself. You need to reload the OS. Download the OS from BB site and then disconnect the battery connect it to computer via USB and start reloading the OS. Midway you will have to repop the battery. There are number of articles online on how to do this. Search on NUKED BLACKBERRY and you will know what to do.

  • Looks like your battery point is a problem here. You can first try by re-loading the software. Check online there are many sites which give you the steps on how re-load the OS. If that doesnt work it should be they battery point problem.

  • I have had mine for just over a year now, and it is currently sitting at home as I have not been able to use it for the last six days. this is because it is the second time the screen has broken. It has the "white screen of death" which is a common blakberry error, but I've asked around and many of many friends have never experienced this whilst this has happened to me twice. Without insurance it costs £90 to repair which is only to fix a slight error but which prevents you from using the phone at all. I'm now looking at getting another model of blackberry for the rest of my contract before I upgrade to an iphone, as this model is unreliable, with poor battery. Statistically speraking, 1 in 3 of these models of blackberry is likely to experience this annoying error.

  • Unfortunately you can't save browsed pages but you can screen grab them using screen grabber from app world. You can then review them in your pictures folder later

It does not read all the data saved on 32 GB memory card, especially music files, gives a lot (90%) of errors during copying. Cannot comunicate with pc software - does not accept password to connect. I used to use Nokia C5 before and I it would support company email I would still use it as it met all my expectations (which are not big in hand help aspect).   • This is a great device. It's amazing on battery also. It's more of a sipper if you will on battery life. I can go almost 4 days with regular bbming and texting before having to charge.

  • Hi everyone, I�m using my new 9780 for one month right now and today I noticed that this one seems to have the exact same problem as the 2 other 9780's I had before. during an incoming call, the MP3 ringtone I use sounds real funny (Jessie J sounds like Dr Dré at the bottom ocean) and when I re-listen to that MP3 using my Media player, the ringtone sounds pretty normal. Solving the problem by updating my baby to the highest level is horseplay. (won't work, believe me), this feels like a hardware issue to me. besides, the speakers for media player and incoming calls are different. A quick battery remove helps to get this problem 'sorted' but unfortunately only for a day or two. as a BlackBerry retailer i sold hundreds of these units before but no-one else seems to have this problem (at least, they don't complain..) Bad luck or am I the only one who's worrying about this problem. you tell me! yours sincerly

  • simply remove your sd card but before you do,back up all ur contacts on bbm,then go to options u will see security click on it and it will tell u to delet datas and apps once have deleted it just leave it for a while and it will restore back to factory settings then u will have ur app world again i did it and it worked.hope this will help

  • My 9780 has been my primary handset since March 2011. The 9780 has been a stable handset - my carrier is TMobile USA. I purchased a subsidy unlock code (the same week I bought my 9780) in case of travel. It's been a sturdy and reliable BlackBerry and the 3G has come in handy with tethering. When BlackBerry comes out with a 4G handset that's 4G and uses OS10, that's probably when I'll upgrade again. My 9780 got good Speedtest.net scores while I've tethered it to my PC.

  • Hi Nasr. I'm using BB9780. If you're after for the latest OS (OS7), go for BB9360. But I have a friend who has a BB9360 and he was not impressed with the battery performance of his phone. Camera and Battery performance of BB9780 is better than BB9360. I have no problems so far with my BB9780. :-)

A decent camera Now I have zeroed on BB Bold 9780 (OS6) instead of any of the models in the Curve series which operate on the latest OS7.1. My budget is 20k INR. Frankly I�m not really impressed with the models from the Curve family except for Curve 9360. But the reason why I ruled out Curve 9360 is its poor battery life. The rest of the models that satisfy the above requirements (from the Bold family) and at the same time operating on OS7.1 are touch type which I don�t want. This is why I am thinking about buying Bold 9780 which seems to be a decent phone as per my needs. The biggest reason why I am inclined towards BB 9780 is its awesome keyboard (I am a chat freak). Is it advisable to go for a BB equipped with OS6 even when OS7.1 is being appreciated in the market for long? What are the pros and cons?   • wel it could be repaired if as soon as u took it out of the water u removed the battery disassemble the phone and allow it to dry properly (NB.if allowed to shut down by itself then u av a real prob). i would recommend that after removing the batter u take it to a repair shop, there they will blow it dry and whatever else they do best. a fren of mine wife's phone fell in the toilet after finish urinating and she took it fro the toilet and washed it in the facebasin.   • by far this is the best experience you could get on blackberry platform... the only drawback is a bit limited memory... the battery significantly improved compared to 8520 stuttering keypad is old problem, fixed by installing newer OS signal reception and battery life vary by OS version, which lead the usage of hybrid OS (combining different java platform and sfi) this device is very stable, unlikely to crash, though low memory will slow it down sorry for bad english

If you feel an OS is buggy or suck your BB battery, you can freely change the OS to the best for you.   • hi ! ive had this phone for over a year now coming from the bold 9700 and i can honestly say i wish i waited a bit more for the 7.0 os and perhaps the new bold 9900 or even the new 9790. typing is very good and very very fast i cant say i know someone with a touch screen or even a full qwerty keyboard, but the software itself is something like well lets say "windows vist" - not ready yet and whoever bought it and saw the new windows 7 - was upset :) dont get it - its slow and not worth it! good luck (cellcom network israel)

  • If you ever question what is the best blackberry ever made to this very day, then the answer is this 9780. Simple, good-looking, reliable, and tough. It's even better than the touch-screened OS7s, namely Dakota, Monaco, Monza, Apollo, Bellagio, etc. Personally, I hate touchscreens, they give you almost nothing but troubles. Incidental touches that cause undesired settings changes is one of those troubles. Believe me, if you already hav this phone, stick with it. Never get easily tempted to swap to those OS7 or you'll be sorry.

  • Had a bit of trouble and could not think why? Anyhow after a visit to shop my BB BIS account takes 48 hrs to activate ..Just 20 minutes ago i got through and its been activated,,Now done a hard reset and setting it up again..I use a free utility called flashlight by Jarrad company i think and assign it to left conveniance key so got instant torch,,i assign right conveniance key to camera for instant access. When i had torch 9810 i missed left conveniance key because it does not have one..I now need shazam and horn to complete my usefull app set up..Dont know yet if these are available but will search later tonight..BB still has a away to catch up the app world is painfully slow even on my laptop ..Also BB does not have much free stuff and the fee payable for some apps if laughable.

  • I have been Nokia symbian fan since Nokia 3650 and only had BB about a year.I had E72 for 14 months and wanted to upgrade to E6 but no auto-focus so thought i will go for BB 990 but that had no auto-focus...So i hung on to my E72 and tried iphone and samsung galaxy range but hate full touchscreen.I really loved my first BB the 9105 but i found the touchpad very awkward to use but it was a great smartfone and long battery. So i have the 9780 for now which is second hand and its great to have real buttons back..I am my money to try the new QNX BB when they arrive ..I got my BB 9780 for 135 GBP.Its got a few scratcheon it but the camera lens is OK..The BB 9780 is still selling for 370 GBP here in UK which is still a lot of money for a smartfone a year old.

  • I have gone for 9780 because its cheaper and got auto-focus..I was in your position for about 1 month going round and roud on which to buy.. If you go for 9790 it has poorer battery life and poorer audio..The 9780 is so much cheaper and more solid a device in all categories..The 9810 torch was another contender but it is a bit heavy but ticks EVERY box. I immediately ruled out the new 9900 with poor batter and NO auto-focus..Its up to you how you use your BB and whats more essential to you..If you just want BB messaging and email the 8520 was the best selling smartphone in the UK last year and cheap as chips.. I did have your dialema but think i made the right choice before BB goes QNX but in the end its up to YOU.

  • yes it can be replaced!!Blackberry does it for free if you havent dropped your phone,if youve dropped it you can stil send it in and they will replace it take it to your service provider but beware its very expensive i fixed just my track ball/cursor cost me R400 but it is replacable(took 3 weeks)

  • Hey bro this is one of the best business phone. It has flawless email, instant messaging, BBM and also integrated social network + long battery life and nice input i.e; keypad and keyboard. I have used this for a month now and have no complaints. PS: Personally I feel high def. cameras have less utility in phones & their is little difference BB OS 6 & BB OS 7 but this cost difference is nearly 100 euros.

Our company ordered 500 of theses and I am going to replace the person who made this call.   • I got my Bold3 in August 2011, It's more than 6 months now,and it's the best buy ever, it's the best phone I ever had ! Never gave me any sorta troubles, the flash and the camera are really good, the best part is using the flash in the dark, it lights up the whole room ! I abuse it's use whenever I'm in the dark ! The battery is long lasting (provided your not always on 3G mode) on 2G mode the battery works great ! Applications are great, downloads are easy, I just hate rebooting every time to complete installation of an App ! It takes a little too much time to reboot. But that shouldn't be a reason not to go for the phone ! if you're planning to buy your very first Blackberry, go for the Bold !

It has got blackberry os-6 .. Its has also got nice loudspeaker compared to my e6....go for it blindly ! Trust me ......!

  • After 18 monthes leaving with my 9700 and 6 months living with my 9780 i can say this ... if 9780 had exactly the same materials with 9700 it would be the best blackberry ever...the software is great, its smooth the life of battery the same with 9700 depends of the use 2 -2,5 days ...the 512 mb r enough and camera hmmmm even its 5 mp sometimes seems the performance is lower than the 3,2 mp of 9700... bb OS 6 fits perfect on this phone..... Disadvantages some bothering noises from the plastic case and of course the lack of the secondary cam, while u cant have video calls through ur network, and some applications u find at competative OS ...But its blackberry always so we can live without them
