Nokia 8.1 (Nokia X7) - User Reviews

  • Hi everyone, I am absolutely thinking same like Carol and Nyj. I have bought my phone Nokia 8.1 two months ago and only negative side of the phone is that it is so slippery...but at once I bought the flip cover for it. I always appreciate the trustworthy opinnions of the Nokia phone owners but sometimes very disappointing the flagrant lies. I am thinking to use that phone a long time...maybe 4-5 years same as my Nokia 930 that is going on its life with my second phone and without any problems all the time...

  • I own this phone Nokia 8.1 for more than 6 months now and all i can say is I'm very much happy with this phone and I guarantee you that you will be happy too. Low Light pictures are very clear even without light you can shoot and have a clear photos because of the Flash. Fast Finger Print, Fast Charging, Loud Speaker everything is good. The only thing I can say about the negative side is that this phone is Slippery because of the glass (front & back). Everything is really good. Trust me you will like it too and I'm still planning to buy another 1 as my second phone. I hope my review will help you. God bless you all.

  • Call drop problem..... Call connectivity issues.

  • If you believe that the pigs can fly, then is true. Of course it ain't true, is called marketing. All prices drop at some point.

  • First, learn to use it. I never heard of such problems with any snartphone ever, but if you really have them, try doing a factory reset. It's a pain but it always solves problems.

  • update google apps from play strore

  • As i am suffering from call drop problem as many atimes it disconnected in running call. Second problem is the miss call alerts notification sometime showing on lock screen sometime not showing.it's creating problem in my business. How to solve the problem

  • Reset ur device once

  • Need software update urgently. 1.face unlock slow 2.finger touch unlock slow 3.doesnt gets off after the call ends. 4.hanging problem

  • Need software update urgently. 1.face unlock slow 2.finger touch unlock slow 3.doesnt gets off after the call ends. 4.hanging problem

  • Will nokia 8.1 receive 1080p @ 60fps video recording?Or,Slow motion at 240fps at any regulation?

  • Your one plus 7 might be creating photos with 1mb default but have you open that same pic on pc? I am sure the quality and the details will be no more near to your photo on One plus 7 screen. Nokia photos looks similar on both the platform thats why the size is more

  • The bigger the photo size the better. I have this model as well. Some glitches with screen turning back on after ending a call, but other than that, no problems. Very good camera! Comparable to an S8 or Pixel 2.

  • Using nokia 8.1 from last 6 mths, its having glitches and buggs at many points and not smooth experience always. 1) Majorly photo size is nearby 8-10mb and doesn't reduce easily unless resolution is reduced. As compared to one plus 7 camera which takes 1mb with default settings. Please reply if any solution for this. 2) while using screen cast it doesn't play video in some spps, plays only audio on both the smart TV and mobile. customer support,

  • The Android 10 update is a buggy mess even after a factory reset

  • Just like expensive iPhone and Galaxy S10 does. Glass is glass and can break if dropped. A drop test I seen showed it never broke after 7 drops

  • Panel glass breaks easily.

  • what's the difference between each Models?TA_1099,TA_1113,TA_1115,TA_1131,TA_1121

  • Thanks a lot.

  • Not quite sure of the cheap quality stuff thing but i dont think this is true Also if your second option is samsung and your priority isnt the performance and the processor then i guess you can also opt for samsung but samsung is using a very bad self manufactured processor called the exynos series. These are dead slow and we all know how samsung tends to slow down in performance in afew years. In slightly costlier series they have givin a snapdragon 600+ processor which was already in devices years ago. Nokia 8.1 gives you stock android and snapdragon 710 which is also a bit old givin that snapdragon 855 is already out but 710 is not a bad performer. Displays are almoat the same in both the phones but samsung has amoled so it winsin terms of displays So it all comes down to you andwhat you prioritise first.

  • Restart your device, its a bug in software

  • After taking photo i can't view the image (image preview). It show in the circle but when I touch to open ,it won't i have to go back to gallery to view the image ,can you help

  • I think its the most Dumbest thing i heard till now, then go buy from the local store as they would be having old stock and they will provide in the same price

  • My friend told not to buy recent manufactured 8.1 after it's price drop as it has cheap quality innards to match the price drop is it true? I watch more videos, display and battery is the first priority.please suggest shall I go with it or samsung a70s??.

  • You get many more features after the update while retaining the features of pie. There are hundreds of youtube vids where they show you the difference after the update with all minor bugs such as the gcam not working etc. I've heard you can revert back to pie if you dont like the android Q.

  • I got an inhand experience of the phone today. as you must be aware it has around 400 ppi density which is good. I personally dont like amoled displays because they oversaturate the colours and are not comfortable when used for a long time. You can expect the quality of the display somewhere near an amoled display but not at par . But the display is actually a competition to amoled as it has the Always on hdr feature

  • Thank you so much for the detailed answer :)

  • Its a temporary bug. Its with all the devices. The gcam will be rolled out when the upcomming pixel phone will be launched

  • What do u think about realme xt camera vs Nokia 8.1??which is better

  • How is the Display clarity/crisp of 8.1 in comparison with Amoled screens ?

  • Something seems to be wrong..GCAM isn't working after 10 update..it keeps processing... I tried different mods.. Anybody with the same problem after updating to 10..? India..

  • Yes I'm updating my Nokia 8.1 as well. Lets see what new does it brings to the table..

  • - Also theres is no headphone jack issue.. I haven't faced any problems regarding headphone jack

  • The audio quality is fine.. The audio quality also depends on what headphone you are using.. As far as I can tell I'm using realme buds2 with the device and the audio output is good and the bass is good too.. And sorry I can't compare it to samsung device as I haven't used any.. -Talking about the screenshot sound, yes you cannot turn it off but you can switch your phone silent for no screenshot sound.. - Sadly there is no pause feature while recording videos but you can use Gcam for better features and the pause while recording option - I've been using the device since 9 months and haven't suffer any charging issue, nor my usb port felt loose.. The device just got Android 10 and in future I hope nokia adds these missing features

  • For those of you who have the phone, how is the audio quality via headphone jack? How good is the bass and clarity of voice? how would you rate the audio quality especially from the jack as compared to a decent samsung phone Also some minor hardware issues I've gathered through other reviews: -cannot dissable screenshot sound -no pause option while recording -some sort of headphone jack problem ; it does not connect well when inserted -charging port (not the wire) becomes loose overtime How many of these problems have you faced?

  • I upgraded my 8.1 into Android 10 and it is 👍 ..

  • Idk m I de only one hu is facing charging problem model-:Nokia 8.1,phone is not getting charge at all bought dis phone 8 months back n also I was always concern abt my battery n plugging de charger taking note in my mind dat phone should not get damaged through bad maintanence still I faced such difficulties anyway 2nd time giving it for repair in authorised Nokia service centre since my phone warranty is still valid.

  • It supports 4g+,CA INDIAN bands any ???

  • You have faulty battery otherwise it's battery easily beats other manufacturers 4000 MAH

  • whether we can update now r to wait? updated users do reply

  • Also, from what i understand, the gesture can be turned off and android 9's style can be used instead... well it is though easier to complain then to learn the device you're holding...

  • Well, some problems are your's and not devices: when you bought it, didn't you notice the "not so impresive" screen?. I saw it, and is like all displays. Horrible sound? I'll be dam if i ever heard a smartphone with great sound... nope, still didn't... waiting... nope.... Autobrightness? Android of this days has machine learbing, so the brightness will accomodate your settings to what you have set up in a short period of time, so all you need to do is set it up manualy whenever is not bright or dark enough for you, with time it will learn your ways.

  • Try to use wifi when possible, data connection will eat battery for breakfest...especially if the connection is weak, if it is weak try to lower the connection to 3g only. Try to change the charge pattern, do a weak of "chaos charge" example: it is at 30% plug it in for 20 Min then take it out. Later after an hour of use, plug it in again and so on, lithium loves chaos charging. Do not discharge under 20% but only once a mounth or two mounths. Charge it to 100% randomly but not daily. If it's new, maybe it needs to settle.

  • A restart of the phone after the update fixed that same problem for me! The update did not fix the many hardware problems, horrible sound quality and unresponsive screen, and the software problems with too aggressive/dark auto brightness was not fixed, but the update added a problem with wifi connectivity and the new gestures are horrible, it is impossible to swipe from the left edge in Google Play to open the menu/settings, and the dark mode makes many notifications unreadable!

  • My nokia phone's lock screen is getting wake automatically. This is happening randomly (30 sec).

  • Give it some time to update until the latest and check your background apps also. Mine just fine. 1 day battery life with 2 hours per day youtube and some other basics things, Instagram was easy

  • issues on nokia 8.1 android 10 or q issues is android system webview it's showing updating but it's not updation what i have to to do please help me

  • They skipped nokia 8.1 for review..

  • I bought this phone 1 week ago. I felt Worst life of battery. I am not a heavy gamer and not using too much internet above all battery drains from hundred to 40% within 2 hours. Except battery concern everything is very good it has very good build quality e it has fantastic selfie and front camera especially in low light where mostly phones are R dump this phone cameras are very good

  • please review this phone

  • Where is endurance rating for Nokia phones

  • Got android 10 update for nokia 8.1.. No matter how worse hardware nokia phone provide in their recent devices.. gotta admit that nokia software game is strong.. they stay true to their promise and nokia 8.1 became 1st nokia phone to get official android 10 public release.. great work HMD.. really impressed

  • finally got the android 10

  • Now it's just 14,499 INR in India and for this price its more worth than any other one, I would recommend to buy this over Poco, redmi note 8 pro, and etc. The SoC 710 is a bit old but not worst. The camera hardware is just amazing 12+13MP the gcam is a true beast in this one the HDR10 Display, the Android one program is itself great, last but not least the premium build quality is solid and far stronger than the other in this price segment. Just go with it without any second thought it will satisfy your needs for what you pay..

  • Can't really tell you because i've never used oneplus. But comparing by the sensor only, nokia 8.1 definitely better especially if you like more natural looking picture.

  • The 4th quarter of 2019 has begun so Android 10 is coming soon for the Nokia 8.1

  • Not at all, I tried it in a retail store and it feels very good in the hand, doesn't feel too heavy, a good weight that fits the phone.

  • Nokia 8.1 best

  • Wat is the Display nits measure of this Nokia 8.1?? Better than A50 ??

  • How to connect this device with my Samsung LED through cast screen option

  • I don't know about other RS 30k phones but it definitely is better than op6t,I don't think any of the OnePlus devices are anyways known for extraordinary camera.

  • If we install gcam in both Nokia 8.1and realme x which is better then??

  • Is Nokia 8.1 6gb 128gb variant is better in camera performance than one plus 6t n better in comparison to this 30k phones??..cause it has OIS n zeiss optics n android one

  • Any phone will get warm when you charge and use it for a heavy task, one is always advised not to use games, taking calls, when charging, reading a message or 2 ,will not harm it

  • Agreed ,I used it for 8 months no issues

  • Zac32, for your kind information some phone can't divide the weight in different parts of phones, so if you know full information, then reply..

  • Bang for your bucks after the huge discount. Installed gcam since i need a camera apps that can shoot raw. Then this phone will become beast! Came from pixel 3 phone. I don't feel a big loss. The size is just about right for me. Not too small not too big. The responseness is comparable with pixel 2. Better than pixel 1. With android one as the back bone this phone is really complete. Reception/connectivity is fantastic. Was sceptical about emmc 5.1 at first but for daily use, you really can't notice any difference. My advice. If your budget is tight. Just go for this.

  • Great phone...no issues at all. Great battery that lasts one whole day! Camera is top notch Media experience is great too.. Its doesn't crash or malfunction on start-up like other phones The heaviness is an indication of build quality..not the light weight phones out there that are not durable in any form whatsoever.

  • Google it.. Gcam for nokia 8.1 and you should be able to get it

  • The device's camera was very good.

  • The phone has180gram.compare to other phone this is normal weight and the size was 6.2" this is compact for your hand.i am play the YouTube at two hours, the device have normal heat.dont go for other brand.trust the Nokia brand.this is very very good device.

  • Pl tell me a proper link to install Google camera as everybody says it works very fine than the stock camera, Thanks in advance,

  • How can it feel heavy if its the same weight?... Talking about build quality, Nokia makes finest build quality phones with great design..

  • Is Nokia 8.1 feel heavy in comparison to other phones having same weight please reply

  • I've been using nokia 8.1 for 9 months and no problems yet.. and I don't see users of 8.1 complaining about charging port issue or any other issue.. Its the best nokia phone currently available..

  • Does the phone get heated up while charging. I watch youtube continously for more than 3 hours in a days, hope the phone does not heat up and over heat up issues r not there in the phone, planning to buy this phone soon

  • Does this phone have charging port issue? Like 7.1

  • Around 1 hour 45 mins

  • 8.1 without any doubt

  • Does Nokia 8.1 feel heavy and big in hands as comparison to Nokia 7.1

  • Pls tell which is best to buy Nokia 8.1 or Nokia 7.2

  • Hello, I'm using Nokia 8.1 with two Sim cards and it takes 1.5-2 days before the next charge. I'm not playing games but I do watch YouTube and browse in the net around 3 hours per day.

  • In Single sim Nokia 8.1 give very good battery backup. But with double sim backup deteriorates. For average user in Single sim it will last around one and half days. But with double sim it hardly survive for one complete day.

  • Nokia 8.1 users from India, Please tell me how much time does it take to charge from 0 to 100 ?

  • Here is the List of Updates Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 9 Pureview - Q4 2019 (October to December) Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 Plus - End of Q4 2019 to early Q1 2020 (December to February) Nokia 2.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2 - Q1 2020 (January to March) Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco - Q1 2020 (January to March) Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 1 - Q2 2020 (April to June)

  • There is no data available for when the updates will roll out ,all you can check is there update tracker which they publish when there is a new package rolling out,on their website

  • Hey there, anyone facing touch screen issues with there Nokia 8.1? If yes then what can be the possible solutions to it? I have visited Nokia service centre and have got OS re-installed, but still the problem persists. Thanks.

  • Do you know where to find a timetable of some sort when the different Nokia phones get the update? I am curious about when the 5.1 Plus will get the update.

  • Nokia 8.1 will be the first nokia to get updated to android 10 and the update is comming very soon.. Kudos to nokia

  • No one buy this phone. Poor Network coverage. While calling suddenly network disappear

  • Thanx so much for ur valuable time in replying for the question popped by me..

  • using this from 3 months now after issues with nokia 7 plus replaced by this phone. absolute no problems whatsoever. everything perfect and fast

  • You are talking about 2 different budget segments here ,if you have the budget go for OnePlus if you don't then 8.1,you can't compare them, also you have not mentioned which OnePlus model you are referring to. For what I have seen personally 8.1 beats the oneplus 6 in cameras and it's not bad performer either although there would definately be a hardware restriction 8.1 is pretty well optimised

  • Just have it for 2 days. Batt is not a prob. Fully charged at night and till morning pass 9am it's at 97%. Not bad in my opinion cause I've seen worst. I don't have any issue with heat. Also charging is not as quick as I would expected but since it has a 3500mAh batt so that's reasonable. Other thing is that the camera is very nice, gave me clear pics indoor and outdoor.

  • Users who have been using this phone, plz guide if it is worth buying this phone, any issues as such . Also, which to choose between one plus and this phone. Hope no charging port and heating issues .. Kindly let me know. thanx

  • That is why it is called "accidental". You don't "plan" to go to work or "plan" to go out in the rain do you? I'm only talking about accidental or unplanned incidents such as exposing it in light rain or accidental spills.

  • excellent pic quality. excellent low light pics very good battery life good built superb processor performance....no lag what so ever...

  • If you are normal user then you would get 1 and 1/2 day of battery backup Approx. 7-8 hours screen on time, If you are gamer then 1 day of battery backup in the night you have to charge. The screen on time will be 5-6 hours.

  • Yes Definitely but that doesn't mean you will intentionally use it in rain or water to damage it.

  • It's not certified officially & the experience I had was when I got the phone wet in rain accidentally then the earpiece stopped working so hard to leave it to dry off for sometime then it started working again

  • No

  • But what I want to know is the phone Nokia 8.1 absolutely safe when using in light rain or won't get damaged or stopped working with accidental spills of water or fizzy drinks?

  • SO, can you confidently say the Nokia 8.1 is absolutely safe when using in light rain or won't get damaged or stopped working with accidental spills of water or fizzy drinks?

  • 2 days screen on time 8hours

  • I'd say two things to choose for the Nokia 8.1, Android One and the build quality.

  • How is the battery life of nokia 8.1? How much screen on time should i expect with normal usage and with gaming? Can someone tell me?

  • Nokia

  • To All the people who answered my question, Thank you very much for your time. can you talk more about this phone? any important thing worth mentioning about camera quality both in terms of video and pictures?

  • This nokia have led notification ?

  • So can you confidently say it is safe in light rain or accidental splashes? Another concern for Nokia is Customer Support. They do have ways to email then but they obviously don't reply as fast although my experience is they do after 24 hours. I have not tried the chat service so i don't know if it's any good. Unlike Motorola and Samsung they don't have a Twitter Support Account to make quick queries and requests for help.

  • In terms of the overall camera photo quality?

  • Not the charging problem. U should change the charging cable

  • Does this have same video capabilities with Nokia 7 plus?

  • The build quality of Nokia is enough. The best reason to buy the Nokia phones. And another main reason is stock Android

  • I have used in rainy days and some time the screen and back is filled with water, but no water was inside the Port c charging point, since 6 month its running fluently

  • This phone balances battery, screen, camera. Good at it price.

  • Realme x is far better but realme xt is good option in this price range..

  • Bro Nokia is Nokia ... You can't compare with realme .... Realme is a budget mobile makers and even they have more features and specifications they don't have that quality that Nokia is known for . 8.1 is better as it has a hdr10 , android one, ozo audio which realme doesn't have

  • I am actually leaning towards the Nokia 8.1. If only it is splash resistant or safe in light rain or accidental spills.

  • G7 is no where close to 8.1

  • Can anyone tell some convincing reason to choose Nokia 8.1 over realme x. Given that the price difference is marginal.

  • Yes you can install Gcam Directly there is huge improvement in images, you will be surprised with the image quality.

  • Definitely I will go for 8.1 I have checked the G7 plus, It stands nowhere in front of Nokia 8.1

  • 1.If you are Samsung Lover and like Amoled displays then go for A50. as the dispaly is more vibrant and crisp. 2. If have a tight budget and want good phone go for Realme 3 pro. 3. And if u want to get clean and pure android, then go for Nokia 8.1 and it has the best design and premium look, And the HDR10 display is amazing, not as amoled but better then LCD displays. As per the cameras three of the devices have the same type of qualities, but you can use Gcam in Nokia and Realme, which would give to more details, color, contrast and HDR on the image.

  • After September Update the phone have become super fast, the finger print has become more responsive and fast, loved the performance.

  • OK. Thank you for the replies. But, what if we say: Nokia 8.1 vs the Moto G7 Plus. Based on those questions which one comes out on top for you?

  • If you can invest then purview is better for cameras than 8.1

  • 1. Which of the two phones have a wider angle rear & front cameras? 8.1, bigger pixel is better and the aperture has a reverse value the more smaller the number the better it is f1.8 will be better than f2.4 , so bigger pixel size and smaller aperture number ( wider aperture) is better. Plus: Does a bigger pixel size (um) and smaller aperture size mean it is better in capturing more light and more detail? 2. Which of the two phones have stereo speakers? How loud (in dB) they are estimated to output? And which phones have support or built-in Dolby Atmos sound? None 3. What Display colour settings available under the Settings menu? (e.g. Basic, Vibrant Saturated?),3 settings are available, basic, vivid, dynamic 4. Which of the phones support aptX or aptx-HD bluetooth standard?aptx 5. Which phones support 24-bit/192kHz audio or hi-res audio? None 6. Which phones have an IP rating or have a nano coating or are considered splash resistant? None Which phone are actually safe to use in light rain or accidental splashes? None 7. Which phone support dual-band/dual-channel wifi? Both

  • So you change your phone after 3-4 yeaes.. well.. nokia 8.1 has solid build quality that can easily lasr for 3-4 years.. its just been released 9 months ago but its build quality can easily last for 3-4 years.. It has great specs which seems to be future proof except it don't support 5g but still.. It has great display with nokia pureview display and hdr10.. sunlight display is good. Easily as good as super amoled.. only thing thats dissapointing is the notch.. Otherwise I think its better than other phones.. Now K20 is great but it doesn't provide you stock android as well as nokia 8.1 has better build quality.. just look at K20's coulous option.. seems like a toy for kid.. Nokia 8.1 has definitely classy design over K20.. Tho k20 has better processor but Who said SD 710 is worst.. OEMs still using SD 710.. and yeah its a great chipset co-oped with great device.. gofor it

  • Nokia 8.1 fulfills all of your requirement.. Stock android is best experience.. Nokia 8.1 is great gofor it.. do share your experience after..

  • Go for nokia regular update best quality

  • IMO,,8.1 is the greatest. hdr 10 capable display. Lcd have better endurance than amoled,so,lcd is not that bad. Great zeiss optic camera. Great software support. Very beautiful design

  • Plus, 10W charging support instead of 18W in case of Nokia 7.2.

  • I am confused between A50, Realme 3 Pro and 8.1. My requirements are Should have Great Display and Camera. A50 has a SuperAmoled Display but i really dont know about the display quality of Nokia even though it has HDR10. One more thing is this device HDR10 Certified? and Also does it support neflix HD playback.

  • Hi there. I have some very technical and hardware questions about the Nokia 8.1 and the Nokia 7.1. which I am unable to find in your official website or Nokias. 1. Which of the two phones have a wider angle rear & front cameras? Plus: Does a bigger pixel size (um) and smaller aperture size mean it is better in capturing more light and more detail? 2. Which of the two phones have stereo speakers? How loud (in dB) they are estimated to output? And which phones have support or built-in Dolby Atmos sound? 3. What Display colour settings available under the Settings menu? (e.g. Basic, Vibrant Saturated?) 4. Which of the phones support aptX or aptx-HD bluetooth standard? 5. Which phones support 24-bit/192kHz audio or hi-res audio? 6. Which phones have an IP rating or have a nano coating or are considered splash resistant? Which phone are actually safe to use in light rain or accidental splashes? 7. Which phone support dual-band/dual-channel wifi? Please kindly advice all. Many thanks.

  • I also had a lot of doubts before i got my first Nokia android. Not because of the phone, but because of the system. I started to proper use android in 2017 when i bought nokia 8. It was a hard decision, again.because of the system. I would not buy any other brand, first because of priciples and second, again, the system. I hate bloatware, and i hate to have to brake my warenty and security just to get rid of it. In symbian era their were a lot of things one cloud do without "getting rid" of security, uninstalling everything was one of them, but well... I hardly turned to android, cause well, rhere is nothing left, so i wanted a system as empty as their can be, on a device that i actually want to support, i like and has enough strenght to handle my... let's say, way of handle it. Also a device that takes stelar phone calls. I do not like social media and use it very rarely, if i want to say something, i make a call. And at the end, a good camera. All of this criterias are mostly done, just by Nokia, i wanted to try Blackbery (great security features) but they are to expensive for the hardware and the camera sux. So i went back to my good old Nokia, that never dissaponted me, and if i ever had a problem with a Nokia, i would have taking it back and take another, the same model...cause i am stubborn. And that one would be great. As for turning back to nokia 8.1 and 7.2. I really think HMD stopped not using watter proof a long time ago. Nokia 8.1 definetly has it (even though gsmarena does not wright about it) you can actually find videos with it merged in watter on you..tube. For nokia 7.2 we have to wait. But i have a fealing would be a nice gift for a family member this year.

  • As Far As My Concern X7 & 8.1 is Same In Every Aspect. Brightness is super Awesome. You Will Love Its Build Quality Battery Is Decent Enough. & Camera Is Supercool After Installing Google Camera. I Am That Kind Of Person Who Changes Phone Every 3-4 month, But I'm Using It For Very long time like for 8-9 month, Not That Long Time For You But I Usally Swith My Phone Very Quick. & The main reason Is Its Build Quality, Display, Camera, Clean Software, That Cute Nokia Logo On The Button & Its Decent Processor. But As I'm Very Very Heavy Pubg User I Have To Charge My Phone Every Night

  • Hi I have a couple of questions about this phone: 1- what's the difference between the Chinese version (x7) and the global version in terms of software. 2- how's the screen in direct sunlight? Is it bright enough? 3- how much storage is available to the user? 4- how's the camera quality? Does it have night mode? 5- between realme x, Nokia x7 and Redmi k20 what do you recommend and why? I change Phone every 3-4 years so it's important that it lasts long.i use the phone with case always. Battery life is important too. I always have either wifi or data on.

  • How is the battery backup of Nokia 8.1

  • Go for Nokia 8.1 definitely. Snapdragon 710 processor, Carl Zeiss optics, OIS, HDR10 Display, 18W charger in the box. 7.2 has weaker 660 processor. NO OIS.

  • Nokia 8.1 is way better than 7.2. Better processor, Better charging speeds and OIS is also supported.

  • If you want stock android, excellent build quality, regular updates and HDR10 display then go for Nokia 8.1. If you want full screen display, better battery life then go for Realme X. its your personal choice. Cameras are great on both phones. Low light quality is slightly better on Realme X.

  • Please go in local shop and buy it. I bought it for 14999 in local shop as well. If you have HDFC credit card you will get 5% discount on Flipkart. Extra Rs. 250 also off on EMI transactions on HDFC credit cards.

  • How is the camera in Nokia 8.1? Can I install gcam? Is there any improvement after installing gcam?

  • Is it a good buy at RS. 15000/-?

  • IMO,,nokia 8.1 is better than realme x..better software support, very premium design,a little more compact. the battery life on 8.1 is great.

  • I plan to buy nokia 8.1 from india it's now ₹14,999 on flipkart 9qiJEJ5MIZLxMOvd9z7cTFUzLT0de4QMohdHqOYyI_TjQ and Rs. 15,999 on nokia website so is still worth it or there are other alternatives and it's better to buy from flipkart or nokia or local shop

  • Really get confused between Nokia8.1 & realme x??? Worried about Nokia 8.1 battery life???

  • I am torn between 2 Nokias: the 8.1 & the 9 Pureview. I'm downgrading my Galaxy S9+ to a more reasonable and modest phone. I need to find a phone with a slightly wider angle front & rear cameras, something with decent/above average night photos (with somewhat less noise), a decent/above average 2-3x zoom (with somewhat less noise), natural-looking photos and not oversaturated, a "loud enough" stereo speakers (75dB & above), fast updates (similar to Android One) and a camera that has decent/above average dynamic range (less overblown highlights on the background like sunlight or artificial indoor lights). Les buggy software and safe in light rain or splashes would be an awesome too. Comments and advice please.

  • No zoom option?? Available to click pictures?

  • Hi I am from India,I bought the device three months ago.this is my first Nokia touch mobile.this is very good for me,i am normal user.this mobile has good performance,no heating problem and good camera.the battery is ok for one day.the iron colour is very beautiful and slim design.everything also good.

  • Don't worry. Check Gupta Information YouTube Channel. He placed Nokia 8.1 in a water bowl for 1-2 minutes and everything still worked fine. Its touch, speaker, earphone jack, charging, fingerprint, camera. All worked fine. He does some crazy tests, including dropping phones from 6-10 feet height 6 times on all sides. For camera review, I prefer Gsmarena and Technology Jock.

  • Realme X if you hate notches and Nokia 8., If you are okay with notch..Nokia 8.1 has better softwareand don't wprry about the batterylife of nokia 8.1it is good

  • Really get confused between Nokia8.1 & realme x??? Worried about Nokia 8.1 battery life???

  • 8.1 strong processor

  • yeah its safe in light rain...it get wet many times...for me. no worries

  • Nokia 8.1 which has better chipset and cameras may be need to test

  • Which one should I buy?? Nokia8.1 & Nokia7.2??

  • Which Nokia phones you know are actually safe in light rain or splashes?

  • Not completely waterproof but as i asked earlier is it safe under light rain or splashes? (you know the daily elements that you encounter to & from work or on holidays?)

  • It's risky to use this phone in rain, I faced an issue where the earpiece stopped working then had to dry it to again function properly, so keep water far from this phone

  • its not complete waterproof android 10 expected starting from oct 2019

  • Hi. I would like to know if... The Nokia 8.1. is somewhat splashproof or is safe in indirect light rain? When will it get Android 10?

  • its selling at 15999 on nokia website now and its worth buying

  • yes for that reason itself, i got a 8.1 replaced for faulty 7 plus couple of months back

  • nokia 8,1 is very beautiful, the battery life also very good

  • I didn't face any quality issues during usage period of 8 months with it

  • Am also using Nokia 7 plus .this phone also having charging port problem...

  • Nokia 8.1if you want stock andt and better software, K20 if you want better processor.. both phones are great on their own way

  • Nope, as it comes with android 9 and will be one of the eraly phonrd to get android 10.. performance is good to in nokia 8.1 so, no.. another good reason is it has better batter life compared to nokia 8

  • The main points or feature to buy nokia phones is android one and its build quality.. I think nokia 8.1 is suitable as its the best nokia phone available in market right now.. if you looking for best camera then I suggest you gofor nokia 7.2 if uou can wait other wise there aree many affordabe phonrd under 20000 inr with 48 mp camera with good performance if camera is your priority.. But what nokia 8.1 best points are regularly updates, good performance and good design and build then yes gofor it.. Also it will be the one of first nokia phones to get android 10 which is a plus point

  • if budget is 20k go for poco f1 its got 6gb ram and 128gb storage for almost the same price, but nokia 8.1 is still better looking than the upcoming 7.2.

  • Is it worth to buy Nokia 8.1 today??? It's price is below 20000 now. my priority is camera and battery. Plz answer my question. Budget:-20k Or should I wait for Nokia 7.2??? Any suggestions??

  • Should I swap my nokia 8 for this one?

  • could u please describe this issue? disconnections when trying to plug in pc usb port?

  • In continuation, If you opt for a Chinese brand phone xaiomi is still the best option to buy

  • If you are considering 2 phones then consider 8.1 and k20 ,a70,A50,a60,and whatever a's are there are just not the value for money phones it has too much premium payload attached to it.if you like to take lot of photos and want a versatile camera go for k20 and if you just take normal clicks then 8.1 is for you, both phones have very good performance, however 8.1 may look a minimalistically elegant and k20 has a more flamboyant look ,both have metal glass, and very frankly choose a 7 series processor, that 675 is not optimised by any OEM to work properly I don't know if it's hardware or software issue, also the thing to look at it is the software experience ,android one vs custom skinned android ,so my suggestion would be to look at either k20 or 8.1 forget A

  • I had used 3 phones of Nokia from last 3years Nokia 6 Nokia 7 plus. Nokia 8.1 all the phone was god compair than present availability of phone but all the phone have a charging port issue.

  • Where can I found a good camera review of this phone? Sadly, Gsmarena overlooked this phone despite its amazing specs.

  • Nokia 8.1 good premieum look camera qualitty sooper

  • Go for Nokia 8.1 the best ever

  • led notification in this device ?

  • nokia best.pubg must b so smooth.camera so many clear.update alaways best.loud speaker sound so clear.head sound so good.battery performance best.

  • I want to get a new phone. I am considering Nokia 8.1 or Samsung Galaxy A70. What informs the choice I will make is as follow; 1. I want a phone that won't hang 2. I will prefer a low maintenance phone in terms of hardware. What is your advice.

  • Thanks a lot..What's hdr screen and how it works in video play..is it true it turns memory card saved sdr videos to hdr?or only useful for online videos.?

  • Thank u very much .

  • Hello, I have Nokia 8.1 and I'm very happy with it. First, Nokia 7.1 and 8.1 have almost the same displays. 7.1 have 432 ppi which is more than 8.1's 408 ppi but in real life you can't see the difference! As for the other question - you can wait for the premier of 7.2 since it will be in 2 weeks. If you wait for it - at least you will know the full specs of 7.2. But I doubt that 7.2 will have OIS. The last is the most important thing for me in phones cameras, so if I were you I would buy a phone with OIS.

  • Wait for 7.2 if you can.. nokia has bad history in releasing phones quickly even after announcing them in markets. Nokia 8.1 has a notch nokia 7.2 will not. Otherwise nokua 8 1 is a hood buy overall

  • One of my friends suggested The upcoming nokia 7.2 has better screen than 8.1 and better battery life as nokia using new technology in its upcomingphone.l am confused shall I buy 8.1 or wait for 7.2..??can any body who is technically expert guide me in detail.. besides he told nokia 7.1 has better screen than 8.1!! Is it true..?

  • Nokia 8.1 is better option if I had to choose from your given list but there are other better phones available.. Check Realme 5 pro or K20.. Camera is average in nokia 8.1 plus the notch design is outdatted..

  • Hello Guys. I want some suggestion about a phone which has a good battery, avg gaming, nice camera of any of these: 1. Nokia 8.1 2. Nokia 7 plus. 3. Galaxy A30/A20. 4. Realme 3 Pro. 5. Honor 8X. 6. Redmi Note 7. 7. Galaxy J7 Pro. these are almost at same prices in my region except the j7 pro and the a20. please suggest me a good phone with no issues. Thank you

  • better go for nokia 8.1. It's a brand also phone has a good hardware. the performance is also good.

  • Short answer is: Get Nokia 8.1 for better camera and quality. Get K20 Pro for better gaming and full screen display. If you aren't after best possible gaming and don't have a display preference between IPS LCD (realistic colours) and Super AMOLED (fake colours but better visibility under sunlight), then your only reason for buying K20 Pro should be notch less/full display. K20 Pro selfie cam has f/2.2 aperture which is quite poor. At worst, most phones in this price offer f/2. It affects how much details a camera can capture and noise management in low light. The main camera is quite decent if there is enough light (f/1.8, 1/2). It's capable of capturing slightly better but almost unnoticeable more details than Nokia 8.1 (since both have f/1.8). 2nd camera is a telephoto lens to zoom in without losing too much details and 3rd is ultra wide angle camera. But it's main camera is 0.8um. Cameras with 0.8um need software to artificially make pictures brighter in low light. Huawei does it quite well but quality isn't as good as daylight (noise, inaccurate colours, loss of details). - Ultra wide camera is not as good as main camera so details on sides will be lower. It's also turned off if there isn't enough light and also if you take pictures in high MP settings. - Telephoto lens is also not as good as main camera but it helps if you want to zoom in. It is also turned off if there isn't enough light and pictures are zoomed in digitally instead. Not sure if it works in high MP mode. Nokia 8.1 main camera is also quite decent (f/1.8, 1/2.55). It has 1.4um which is very high. Generally speaking, anything above 1.14um performs decently in low light and 1.4um captures at least 40% more light than 1.12um. It also has OIS. It moves the lens to cancel out handshake, further capture more light and details, further significantly improving low light performance. In short, Nokia 8.1 has better selfie camera and better all rounder main camera. While K20 Pro has more feature rich main camera at the cost of picture quality. - K20 Pro has bigger battery and more battery efficient chipset. Although, it has MIUI so in heavy workload like PUBG, it will last same as Nokia 8.1 which gets the advantage of Android One. You can take example of Nokia 8 (3000 mAh battery) and Pocofone F1 (4000 mAh battery). They last about same amount of time in PUBG despite Pocofone F1 having more battery efficient chipset. - K20 Pro has MUCH more powerful chipset (SD 855) than Nokia 8.1, which is where it is truly superior. It *should* be able to handle PUBG on Ultra HD with 45-60 FPS. Nokia 8 with SD 835 handles PUBG on Ultra HD with around 30-40 FPS and SD 855 is at least 50% more powerful. Nokia 8.1 (SD 710) can handle PUBG on HDR with 40-60 FPS, so its performance is quite good as well.

  • I want to purchase a phone but stuck between xiaomi k20 and Nokia 8.1. Please suggest.

  • K20 pro without any hesitation.. if you have that budget

  • Yes, Just wait till 2050+ :D

  • I'm considering Nokia 8.1 and Redmi K20 Pro... Which one should I go for and why?

  • I'm confusing between Nokia 8.1 and Redmi K20 Pro, which one should I go for?

  • I play pub g with my friend regularly; Nokia 8.1 is 4 GB RAM my friend owns OPPO RENO 8 GB variant he gets in the match always behind me. Not internet issues because I experienced gaming on varying net...And I feel proud to own Nokia 8.1

  • I like Nokia 400gb space and 64 gb ram please help me

  • Besides the processor, there are a couple of differences. The display of the Nokia 8.1 is bigger, it's released with Android Pie and the Nokia 7.1 with Oreo, so the 7.1 already had 1 major OS update, the 8.1 not. Then there's the battery, 3500mah vs. 3060. Both phones are very solid and well build, but I'd go for the Nokia 8.1 if I were you.

  • Except processor, battery and screensize I guess.. 8.1 better buy than nokia 7.1 which I still think as a worthless release by HMD global.. Nokia 6.1 plus and 7.1 are more similar to me

  • If you have the budget go for 8.1

  • Thank you so much for your revert.

  • I was told there is no much difference in 7.1 and 8.1 except processor I am confused which should I go?

  • Honestly, if you read 2 or 3 pages of reviews of Galaxy A50 and read Gsmarena camera review, you'll find the truth of that phone. It's among most disappointing phones of 2019 so far.

  • I've used A50 and there is no room to be confused between these two phones. There is no A series phone that is worth buying except for A10, but that lacks many features. Go for Nokia 8.1 or Realme 3 Pro. A50 camera is supposed to rival Realme 3 Pro and Nokia 8.1 but it's very very bad. I don't mean slightly poor than its competitors, I mean it can't even compare to Nokia 7 Plus and many other lower priced phones. Realme 3 Pro main camera is as good as iPhone 8 and better than iPhone 7 Plus. Don't know how 8.1 compares to it, but its camera specs set high expectations. A50 performance is average. You should have high expectations about performance in this price range. A50 only gives 30 FPS in high graphics on PUBG, which is same as Nokia 7 Plus and other SD 660, Kirin 710, Helio P60 & P70 phones. Even Realme 3 can do that and it costs 30% of its price. Nokia 8.1 and Realme 3 Pro give 40-60 FPS, which is a big difference. They're the top phones in this price range.

  • If you ask same thing on Galaxy A50 page people there will give their reasons and would prefer galaxy A50 over Nokia 8.1 but honestly I would prefer nokia 8.1 over A50 anyday.. Better build quality, Better process and stock android makes Nokia 8.1 better choice over A50

  • If you are looking for an option with custom skin go for k20 it is much better than Samsung as of now pertaining to cost and value for money

  • But do remember this is android one so no fancy stuff on it

  • Dual sim

  • 8.1 is miles ahead of a50,a70 and whatever a's are there in every department, except for a80 in the processor having sd730 but that too not by much

  • If you re thinking about build quality and durability better you take 8.1

  • I want to purchase a phone but stuck between Samsung a50 and Nokia 8.1. Please suggest. Here both are with 4gb ram.

  • With 2 sims or single Sim??

  • Phone is awesome but 6 t has better processor

  • Well unless you are in dire need of wide angle and telephoto lens you see lot of new mid range phones are coming with sd710 so yes you can buy this and definitely you will 2 major os updates so it's a big advantage

  • As compared to 6t Cameras are better, although you won't get any Chinese fancy settings No heating issues Battery backup is almost as 6 cause it's a lower specd CPU (2big and 6 small cores) and consumes lesser power.

  • Whats price of this phone and how is it wht abt camera

  • Thinking of buying this phone as against one plus 6 or 6 T though there are many positive comments, lot of negative comments in Amazon. Confused. What is true, heating issues, battery not upto mark and other comments given. Can anyone help and clarify whether worth buying since its been more than a year of launch for this phone.. Thank you.

  • I purchased this phone yesterday (in the Netherlands), what you already know is correct. You can use 2 sim cards or 1 sim card and 1 microSD).

  • Are there any known issues of compatibility with TMobile in Arizona ?

  • I am not 100 percent sure but I think ,ta 1128 ,is a single sim version

  • I was looking reviews about this phone and all of them told it is dual SIM but every retailer says it's only single SIM. I know in the dual SIM version one of the slots is hybrid shared with memory card. Or is there a market based variant? Can someone make it clear for me please?

  • I got the Home Gamepad T3 Wireless. I use it with the ePSXe app and my old PS1 games. Works nicely.

  • It has LTE-A Cat15 800/150 Mbps due to qualcomm x15

  • Can anyone suggest me good gamepad for nokia 8.1 in india from a trusted online site. Ty

  • Go for the Nokia 8.1 it's a quality product and you get Android One, no bloatware. And if you want the phone to keep going for at least 2 years, it's good to know Nokia offers you the software updates as well aside from durability in terms of hardware.

  • I own a phocophone.

  • Do you own this phone?

  • At first glance, this looks like a pocophone with Nokia branding on the chin.

  • For gaming purposes alone, this is not the right one. You can buy cheaper from other manifacturer.

  • Nokia 8.1 vs Realme X? Ignoring the price difference, Nokias main selling point that were rarely mentioned nor tested were it's OZO audio recording. If you're "that someone" that chooses to record a very loud concert then you might just get a Nokia than a budget phone. Durability? It's not even a main factor, why? Because it depends on the user but a plastic phone would last longer than glass rear especially when you're clumsy.

  • I,m using nokia 8 from last one year above .. no issue yet very nice and handy phone

  • If talking about durability, you should go with Nokia 8.1. But do remeber it is made of glass and glass is breakable so do use with care, use a protective case.

  • Most of the bugs in camera are rectified with updates which are mentioned in the review

  • For extended use buy Nokia, cameras are on par with top notch phones,it's already on android p so q and further updates will follow Watch these two genuine reviews

  • Which one should I buy Nokia 8.1 or Real me x ? My rneeds are camera, looks and mainly durability because I have to use it at at least 2 years.Pl do suggest with reasons

  • I use 6/128gb version and it operates butter smooth in day to day actovities. Gaming performance is also very great thanks to adreno 616 gpu whioch is very powerful, Pubg can be playable on HD graphics with high frame rate smoothly and talking about apps the phone runs smoothly.

  • No

  • Is it really good? Is it good for game apps? How about the camera and the other apps? Is it lagging?

  • I know ,if you haven't read I am replying to the other poster,I don't know if you are in consent or against my opinion, vivo is not my favourite,it was a reply on sd845 launched recently with as mentioned last year's flagship chipset

  • Vivo makes cheap quality phones. You would know if you head over to your favourite Vivo phones opinion section and read a few pages. Including the phone you just mentioned. Most common complaints are overheating, poorly optimised cameras and battery drainage. This makes their device's high specs completely useless. Reminds me of Xiaomi. Learn what software optimisation is from Google Pixel devices and you would know it's just as important as hardware - if not more. If you're spending a lot of money, you would spend on a quality brand. Not a beggars can't be choosers kind of brand.

  • did you do the july update ?

  • Thanks alot

  • wait for the OS/firmware updates

  • Try amazon or gearbest

  • My mobile freezes when jumping from one app to other

  • I am looking for 64/128 GB, 4/6 GB RAM - Nokia X7Y version, but not able to find it in Europe, can somebody help me, even the Nokia Support doesn't know where I can get the 6GB version. Thanks

  • You can buy it.. Its one of the best nokia phone which is available in market right now

  • I am using nokia 8.1 for few months now and I am totally satisfied with its performance.. Its a good buy imo but which phone you want? It completely depends on your preference..

  • Hi, should i buy this phone? I am from Argentina

  • It's a faster OS phone However some of the features it seems it only low class...

  • Yes price will be higher because of the extra hardware used along with 845 ,plus it's an poled which more expensive, and you forget the time it takes to synchronise custom isp and dap settings from Qualcomm and other vendors so for you it might be outdated but sd845 still beats the new midrangers chipset so if a company is so willing to cost cut then there is no better processor that can be used than a flagship processor on new models especially when they don't have the so called by you 5g built in them too,I would rather buy a sd845 phone over the sd730g anyday because it will be faster and it should be more cheap logically

  • And fyi sd855 doesn't have 5g inbuilt modem, check the spec sheets on Qualcomm site,it has to be coupled with extra hardware so yes it maybe faster but as for 5g forget about it on 855 otherwise all sd855 phones would have 5g

  • That is why it is not supposed to be a niche phone and only available limited

  • It was specifically was sd845

  • One word.. '5g' and ofcourse sd 855 is better than 845.. and if spending soo much bucks then why not gofor the batter one.. now talking about nokia 9 it only offers 6/128 gb with no sd card slot to increase the storage, no 3.5mm jack and battery is below average too. These all things matter.. why to compromise when you are spending so much minoy

  • Even tho it is using last year flagship chipset you can clwarly see the price gap between nokia 9 and that device.. and leaving this device of vivo behind it actually releasing better devices than nokia.. No wonder why vivo beats nokia in Smartphone market

  • Vivo iq neo is launched recently with last year flagship processor ,this is just one example

  • And what did you use to utilise the full last year flagship processor, any app, game or what, can you specify, did you use Photoshop on your phone, do you when know what flagship is processor is capable of and what these companies are utilising it for, do you know there is a additional processing unit used with last year flagship chipset in the flagship phone,do you know how much time does it to synchronise that kind of hardware, nothing, just because you see a new processor you want it, and that is exactly the reason why and because of people like you Qualcomm instead of upgrading technology is just making money by just increasing clock speeds and launching a new processor every month

  • And 95 percent of people just go by presentation and sound of big hardware, example is that hyped 48mp cameras

  • Thats because after nokia 8.1 no good devices were ereleased by nokia. look at nokia 2.2, 3.2 and 4.2 not worth.. and obviously their failed flagship nokia 9.. Atlease other companies don't release a phone with a year old flagship processor and bad specs (except cameea ofcourse)

  • 8.1? You sure, because it was released 8 months ago.. not possible that you have used that device for 1 year unless you raided area 51 and time travelled

  • My Nokia 7 Plus and my friends Nokia phones 6.1 Plus,5.1 ,8.1and Nokia Siroco and Nokia 8 all are running with charms after one year.

  • No it doesn't,it has ambient display

  • Is this phone has a notification light? It is very important for me, every body knows please answer me,Thanks a lot

  • You can check some sample shots on my Instagram saditya j ,I don't edit my photos mostly & I am not a photographer :-)

  • Thanks for the replies and comments. I got my cell phone back last Saturday with the remark: Software update performed, no hardware damage. Just to really clarify the problem that happened to me: The phone was locked in FastBoot mode. Even with the sequence of buttons to get out (Power + volume for 40 sec), the phone restarted but instead of going to bootloader, was jumping directly to Fastboot mode. No way to get out and no way to turn it of... Just posted here in case anyone experience the same problem. By the way, I returned the phone to seller and got my money back. Sorry that I can not provide more details about what was done by Nokia....

  • Depends on your usage ,4gb is sufficient but storage is personal choice, unfortunately can't locate the local UAE buy link, but you can try international links like amazon or any other like that

  • Nope

  • I am using 2 Sims with one day batter use easily,of course I am using LTE on one and switch to 2g on other ,and maybe sometimes WiFi,but using dual Sims smartly will help more battery efficiency,I don't think you would need LTE on both Sims at same time, just my usage and thoughts,I do use a lot of camera so that surely takes up battery but still one day of easy use on 8.1

  • You shouldn't panic bro. I had same issues with my Nokia 3.1 plus to which I complaint to the Nokia feed back section on my phone about the problem. Surprisingly, Nokia sent me some software updates twice regarding system stability and UI improvement and voila! the problem is gone. So please take your time & be patient dude!.

  • Yes

  • Mobile freezes when jumping from one app to other

  • I' not sure if you talking about nokia 8.1 which was released in china as X7 or the later launched X71 which is powered by Snapdragon 660 and has 48 mp main camera which is only available in Taiwan and china only.. I assume that you are asking about nokia 8.1 which is thee global varient of nokia X7. Well I must say battery life is better than expected even tho the device is powered by 3500 mah only thanks to Snapdragon 710 which is build on 10nm which is power efficient compare to other midrange processor. Plus with addaptive battery feature of Android Pie it makes the device more power efficient. Thats what is in the paper, now talking about practicle usage the device can last for 2 days if you are a medium user but if you are a heavy user and likes gaming it can last for one day. But yes do remeber these are the stats that we get if we use single sim. However using dual sim we see dramatic decrease in battery performance of the device. I get screen on time of 6 hours+ even more than 7 hours sometimes and some users have even reported to get 8 hours screen on time which is pretty good for a 3500 mah battery device. And ofcourse there is 18w fast charging support for the device which is very convenient. The conclusion is Battery life is good in nokia 8.1 but only if you use one sim in the device, afterall the device has a hybrid sim slot, so you may want to use one sim and one sd card.

  • Which one of nokia 8.1 is better to buy? 4/64gb or 6/128gb. and i am unable to find this 6/128 in UAE. Can anybody suggest me a website to buy 6/128gb version?

  • Ok, but in very low light is this 8.1 can capture details n edges properly Has it strong flash like others???

  • I forgot to mention mate you should get the copper color it looks amazing i have it too it’s brilliant

  • Hello mate, I recommend the nokia 8.1 i am use the phone for a month now really great phone snappy performance fast and also android one fast updates no bloat ware believe me it is a very good buy. Buy unlocked of course good luck!

  • Help plz...how is its battery life?i wanted to bye x71 because i need a better camera but Ive heard nokia x71 has a problem with its battery and get empty and warm soon

  • If you are looking for low light photos as you see ,I mean natural then 8.1 ,if you are looking for low light paintings then buy any phone ,right from pixel to Huawei to any ,none of them capture original photos in low light especially with night mode on

  • Samsung a50

  • I want a smartphone for nice low light photography is Nokia 8.1 is better all time for it Plz suggest me

  • Hello, I got Nokia 8.1 and I'm very happy with it. For me it's better than A50-80 Samsung models since the last don't have OIS. I got shaking hands so OIS is one of the most important features for me.

  • Between both I would also recommend 8.1 anyday over a50s,70s 60s or whatever it is

  • Z1pro ,or k20 would be a better option if you want other than stock, realme X is also a good option

  • Just wanted to add I have heard network issues on A50 , actually I don't think sd675 is a very good processor ,it's just that Qualcomm wanted to release something above 660 so they have done it,none of the phones perform flawless on sd675,just my opinion,I am certain that under 20k now (INR)there is nothing better than 8.1,build,cameras,os,screen quality,

  • It's up to you. In terms of performance, their on par with each other. Go for the A50 if you like more camera's, bigger battery, better display, OneUI, and a smaller notch. Choose the 8.1 if you like stock android, OIS and Nokia's build quality. I personally prefer the Nokia but in terms overall value, I think the A50 is the better deal

  • Should I buy this or the samsung galaxy a50?

  • Hi, Automatically Wifi gets disconnected and takes time to reconnect. I have to give several attempts to connect Wifi, also touch suddenly becomes unresponsive at times. I'm not sure what they are up to. They have stopped sending timely updates in India and when you expect the patches to come with fixes, it's just mere waste of of data and time. hmd Nokia, you need to learn or you would be soon like original Nokia.

  • you can but careful with the screen put some tempered glass immediately and also phone is slippery so use a phone case

  • The main key selling point of nokia 8.1 is its design and the fact that it is running on android one program with stock android. It is one of the first phone to get android Q when it will release. Other feature include HDR10 display, Nokia OZO sound. It totally depends what you looking for in a device. Nokia 8.1 performs well , has decent battery life and looks really cool But there are other phones available in market which uses the same SD 710 chipset which are cheaper than nokia 8.1. Its a decent phone, if you are a fan of nokia, you can buy it, you won't dissapoint.

  • Sound quality is fine dude.. you sure you haven't done anything damaging to your speakers? Like pouring water or something because that will harm your device. As far as I am concerned I am using this device for 6 months and it works great. No issues for me, its a fine device

  • It is crazy that any sofware issue is not cover in product warranty. I doubt that. Well as much as I know any physical damage to the phone is not covered under warranty. I suggest you to read the terms and conditions of warranty recovery written in paperwok you got inside the phone box. I am using this device for 6 months and it is working as good as I used it in day one. No issues here.. I do think that the company will replace your phone if the issue is huge and it is under warranty. I suggest you to visit nearest nokia care for the solution

  • Should I buy it ?

  • unfortunately....screen broke....its so delicate..never expected

  • The sound quality is extremely bad in phonecalls when using the small speaker above the screen, it is very difficult to hear the other person! Do not buy this phone, it is very bad, there exist many far better alternatives! You have now been warned!

  • I doubt some app must be creating this problem. Please factory reset and see most of the times such problems will vanish. check any fishy app you are installing

  • Hello, I have this phone for 1 week and I was really well impressed with its performance and functionality. Unfortunately 2 days ago the same problem occurred: the phone was frozen at the FastBoot mode with the battery level at 60%, white background on the screen with AndroidOne logo on it. Absolutely impossible to get out of this mode. I took the phone back to the seller and they said it should be handled to Nokia and it could take 2 to 3 weeks in order to get a solution. Worst of all, the seller technician told me (in a not polite manner) that in Germany phone software is not covered by the product Warranty and they could charge me 75 Euros. I just would like to hear if anyone else also experienced this problem and if they really got a solution for that.

  • Both ridiculous never worth

  • yes I agree on this. i think this is same with other brands as well, i experience this on my other phone samsung m20 too

  • I have noticed something strange at nokia devices, they work way better after you factory reset once, even when they are new. Do try, you might be surprised.

  • Can you move apps to SD? I formated mine in the phone, but I cant move any app (no CHANGE storage button) I can move only photos and media. What the...

  • Nokia 8.1 som NOT support exFAT!

  • my device is 50 days old suddenly in last week of may screen freezing issue started lock unlocks then it works (same as nokia 7 plus) wanted to go to service center but this issue doesn,t show regulary. even touch feels laggy like responding late . will go SC in few days waited for june patch but waste

  • At first I thought that I was the only one on this page who was having problems with this phone. But now after seeing the comments below I can tell that this is a certified garbage phone from HMD. Thank You Horrible Mobile Devices (HMD). P.S. To whoever is thinking to buy a hmd nokia phone and have come to this page to see reviews, my advice is to just dont or else u will regret it alot.

  • Realme x far better....

  • Realme x far better....

  • Which one is good & why? Nokia 8.1, or realme x

  • Which one is good and why ? Nokia 8.1 or reaalme x

  • It's because of the software. Directly from Google optimised for Nokia.

  • I am using this device from 1 month. And now the touch screen of the set is not working fine .. The min problem is, it doesn't show this issue always. So we can't even take the phone to the service center. I feel like I should have gone for a better phone !

  • Nokia 8.1 can only be used in landscape when wearing polarized sunglasses! HMD should not be allowed to use the Nokia brand!

  • Mine never freezes

  • if you like android one operating system and concerned about branding . then you can go fot it.. if not go with k20. which will cost the same price. below 20K

  • I am willing to buy a 8.1. Can anyone tell me is it better than Nokia 8.0? or non of them to buy? :)

  • i received it yesterday june security patch, its not same for all the devices and models. ios system is correct

  • Haven't got June Security update and it's almost end of June. What kinda Android One device this is? If you are so late in releasing the patches, at least ensure that they are bug free and bring some serious improvements. Otherwise it's simply baseless to release monthly security updates so slow.

  • yes something seriously wrong in their software, battery n motherboard i had the issues with my 7 plus and finally got a replacement to 8.1 so far so good it works well, but at sometimes it freeze dont know why its a pure android and Soc is SD 710 it should not happen like this

  • Bought this and within one week got issue phone switches off on its own. service centre claims software issue fixes, again it repeats in a week. 25 days passed. three formatting, still phone in service centre. Nokia is replacing phone , I have to wait 4 more days.

  • Too bad GSMArena hasn't done a review for this phone.

  • My Nokia 8.1 is very solid, it a couple of times on the floor I expected that the screen will crack like all other phones. But there is no problems at all

  • No flickering on mine

  • I dont think u understand about the pricing of smartphones but no company reduces the price so much in 6 months unless its a flop model. Generally there is 10 to 15% price drop not 30%

  • Didn't understand what u r saying but the build quality of this phone is very good

  • If that is the case then GSMArena can try to expose them.. It is like GSMArena is indirectly defending Nokia. Recently in India phone has got huge discount which is very uncommon for phone like this from Nokia. Nokia 7+ did not receive this kind of price cut after 1 year of launching. Now i think this is the reason for huge price cut.

  • Stuck on it..!

  • eMMC storege I agreed but for those who play games all the time average users don't care about the eMMC and ufs storege. Why not share Nokia 81 pros It's capable camera with OIS and Zeiss optics,HDR+10 display, premium build quality, good battery, Android one phone timely Android update and updates are bug free not like Mi A1 and A2 Xiaomi didn't provide bug free software updates for its A series phones. Now Nokia 8.1 is available at 18310 for 4gb and 64gb and 21749 for 6gband 128 gb.Best buy phone at this price

  • Every smartphone reduces it's price after 6 month nothing especial with Nokia phones.

  • GSMArena do not review every phone, and Nokia 8.1 is now too old to be interesting! Nokia 8.1 have very many problems/bugs, both hardware and software! On of those problems is the screen flickering at extremely low 75.76 Hz at below 10 percent brightness, causing eyestrain and headaches after extended use, and that is a big problem because Nokia 8.1 screen too often go below 10 percent brightness to save battery making if too dark to use! Nokia 8.1 also have very slow internal eMMC flash storage, and a screen with a 0.61 cd/m² black value, which results in an underwhelming 930:1 contrast ratio.

  • Not solid at all.. Very poor resistance. I would not recommend. All front and back windows are awfull, they break waaay to easely, we had that in booth of our 8.1 phones.

  • From notebookcheck about Nokia 8.1 screen: The display backlight flickers at 75.76 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 10 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting. The frequency of 75.76 Hz is very low, so the flickering may cause eyestrain and headaches after extended use.

  • Ya its very durable and even better than other gorilla glass phones

  • Good for u man but i have experienced bugs like my phone was automatically switching to vibrate mode so I had to reset the phone and it was working fine until recently the phone's screen started to freeze and would recover when I power off and on the screen. I know that this will also get fixed when I reset the phone since it is a software bug but the point is that a phone so costly and with a powerful 710 soc should not perform as such and also the company is now selling this phone at 70% of its original price and even Chinese phones do not get such huge price cut in such a short period of time meaning that this phone was way overpriced for its mediocre performance.

  • That's strange. Even i had same experience 2-3 times recently after pie update on my Nokia 6 2017. But the issue was something different. All of sudden my fingerprint was not recognised. And for my surprise there was no fingerprint. Later i used pin to unlock phone. Then checked the settings. No fingerprints were found. The funniest thing happened now. I started setting up my fingerprint. I used my left & right thumb earlier. So tried to give same. Now i got error. Please try to set different finger. Later tried different one. After that i was able to unlock phone with my previous fingerprint & new one. But earlier fingerprint was not shown anywhere.

  • Gsmarena where is your full review?? Annoying to know you do review of some phone immediately after its launch. This phone is already 6 month old.

  • Does display is durable?

  • Let me know if you can shoot this with gcam

  • Very strange ,it could be a problem of either software or hardware or both of them at same time

  • Everyone has their own taste I don't like gcam shots in anyways ,and they are definitely not way better in any ways you can get great pics in pro mode in night since it doesn't blow out the scene like some snow white season as gcam does.

  • Hi, I'd like to write something about phone( Nokia 8.1) I paid for, about one month ago. First three weeks eweything was perfeck, one morning I have noticed that finger scener is not working and in " settings" there was no posibility to find it. Phone is now on servis and nobody could tell me what is going on?????

  • GCam night mode is way better than Nokia auto night shots. Nokia camera better for daylight as GCam too dark

  • Not with my 8.1 I have had it for 3 months so far with no problems at all. I have not had major bugs and not had to reset

  • hi guys am new to this nokia 8.1 club. Accidentally i landed here as my nokia 7 plus gave some issues and i send it for service and later i wrote to hmd global and nokia india and they gave me with this new phone as replacement. its been a day using this device, so far so good. fluidity is excellent and processor SD710 works quite fast

  • I'm very happy with the this phone too. Not any problem at all!

  • Yes ,lot of them are ,at least I can confirm for myself

  • This phone has just got a 30% price cut which should have been its original price. HMD is trying to clear its stock, so it means that we cannot sell this device without incurring 50 to 70% loss. Good strategy HMD (horrible mobile devices)

  • Good, atleast someone is happy using this thing...

  • Speak for yourself I am happy with the device

  • Bro just reset the phone and hope it works, thats all we can do for now and for every bug in future also. we all have done a big mistake buying this shit phone from shitty hmd's shitty nokia

  • I am using Nokia 8.1 from Apr 2019, it was fine for one month. Once i got an update for security that is "Security patch lavel: 1 May 2019". i am getting problem after updating that "Security patch lavel: 1 May 2019" in my Nokia 8.1. - If i enable "Tap to wake" feature (from Setting->Didplay-> Advance ) then mobile display is waked up always randomly 30/60 sec interval, sometime it is occurred 10/15 sec interval. - Battery drains is highly increased. Without any activities (especially when i sleep) battery is reached to 0% from 50% within 6/7 hours. - Mobile is getting hot without any user activities - Now i need to charge the battery twice a day but for the first month it was once in two days Anybody facing this issue?

  • This phone is just developing bugs with every update and u have to reset every time to get rid of these bugs and with 710 soc it should have been much faster but for its price it is just pure crap. Never gonna buy a nokia ever again.

  • It may be slow in shop mode or if the updates are not installed. One of the first security updates fix this issue.

  • Mins fast

  • Tried this phone in a shop and noticed it's not so fast as supposed to be, not sure why, even Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is faster.. And it's the same for other Nokia phones even flagships are quite slow. Why it is so?

  • Hello, I live in Bulgaria. I'm using this phone with double sim. Both got 4g but I'm using only one of the sim cards for mobile data. I'm talking via both of the cards and I have set forwarding between them. Battery life is pretty good - around 48 hours with normal usage + location and wifi on all the time. And I'm starting to power up between 15-25 percent...

  • Missed b40

  • 850,1700/2100,1800,1900,2100,2600,b38,b39,b40,b41. I think global version has more bands than Chinese model, do check with Nokia official support

  • Depends of which sim cards you use, what type of connection and what is the network reception range ,if in India any sim card used along with Jio with 4g volte on both sim have problems ,not anyone points out that but I have face it on multiple phones of different OEMs, network reception is the biggest battery consumer after screen on any phone,I am using Vodafone 2 sim one on LTE and one on 2g not facing a battery drain issue.

  • Using mine since launch no chipping as of now,

  • Still there is no review by GSMArena. When will you post your complete review for Nokia 8.1..?

  • Some people said that there is an issue of chipping of colour after few days usage. Is it true?

  • Nope ,but it has ambient display which you can configure for wake on new notifications or light up when you lift the phone

  • Thanks for the detailed response!! One last question - Does it have notification LED?

  • Is anyone experiencing high battery drainage upon operating the Nokia 8.1 with dual sim ? Wanted to buy Nokia 8.1 but came across this flaw in a review video So I want to confirm the authenticity of this issue with a long term Nokia 8.1 user using two Sims at a time.

  • Hi, Can you let me know the list of LTE bands supported by this phone. Need to check if i can use it in other countries

  • 1hr 45 minutes with in box 18 watt fast charger Cameras are the best as of now on any Nokia , leaving aside Nokia 9,this set is absolutely a steal with this price now.and the cameras are absolutely a competition to even high end phones in daylight especially, although it doesn't have the night mode as of now(rumoured night mode in works)but you can use pro mode to get very good results infact better than night modes, gcam is available for night but again night sight is nothing but a processing algorithm that shoots up high on iso and low shutter speeds, that can be done very easily on pro mode maintaining the naturalness of the picture.there are lot better reviews available on YouTube rather than GSMarena. ( Front camera issue is fixed with a previous update) Camera specific review

  • Why no review gsmarena? I think it's one of cheapest mobile with OIS after recent price cut. Couple of questions: How much time phone takes to recharge from 0 to 100? How's the camera quality? Other Nokia phones haven't impressed with camera prowess.

  • Black levels are definately deeper than normal LCD and you will enjoy it,it's an HDR 10 capable display

  • Thanks!! Regarding the display, is the black levels too high for a LCD or close to Amoled

  • Dear Gsmarena please post the full review of this phone. Really waiting for it. And a camera comparison between all the mid range would be welcome..

  • Cameras are absolutely toe to toe with any top of line phone if clicks are intended to be natural, and don't be fooled by those 48mp phones half of the hype is ill informed I have not seen any phone yet beating the Sony imx363 sensor by a huge margin, plus the 586 sensor is designed to capture more dynamics rather than more details because of smaller pixel size, combining it will never give a pure 1.6 micron pixel size there will always be a light bleed or some loss

  • Well as per my use with both of them the images on 8.1 are more natural and sharper with fine textures captured more .op6t is good but 8.1 is better ,maybe at night you have the ease of using night mode on op6t but if you use the pro mode you can 100 percent take better clicks than any night mode,in normal click photos are better too,an observation I would like to share just don't use AI scene detection mode always ,sometimes it will just boost the colours too much however sharpness is still not lost ,AI is nuisance on every phone in my opinion,it makes photos rather towards paintings than a natural photo,

  • Well then you will need to visit the service centre

  • Tried everything already still the problem remains.

  • Try and change the usb cable ,or at last factory reset the phone, another option is the power output wall socket connect it at different place to check

  • I am facing some charging problem with this device. Device is charging very slow and even with screen turned off it isn't showing 'Charging rapidly'. How to solve this issue?

  • Is 8.1 camera quality compared to oneplus 6t in any way? I really like the colors in 6t, so checking on 8.1. As I'm planning to purchase a one..

  • OK thanks man

  • You can get it unlocked ,search on XDA for someone named calyx he unlocks

  • May be I should have done some research before buying this useless big notched none customisable phone... but still giving a way to unlock bootloader doesnt cost them much

  • Nope I am happy with the 8.1,got used to the the notch but still it's a bit wide,I can hide it thou

  • Nokia android were never meant to be used with custom roms

  • take nokia x71 i orderd one from china

  • not meant to be for what?

  • It's not meant to be

  • Not even a single custom rom for this mobile on xda... shame!!!

  • Not sure about the initial hours. Do you use the original wall charger? The last % is standard practice for Sony phone also. It is actually purposely slowed down to preserve the battery longevity. So its good Nokia implemented this rather than winning the quick charging race but end up messing the battery lifespan

  • Agreed with the notch style ,rather no notch like 7 plus would have been nice, wireless charging would have increased the pricing I guess

  • A very good phone with very good specs and has won the best phone of 2018 in GSMArena, but with no reviews?!!! Very suspicious, but i really like this phone in general, but from my perspective, notch could have been smaller to put in more sensors and add wireless charging since its a glass back.

  • Try this Factory reset using volume and power keys see if this helps

  • Mine isn't slow

  • No issues with mine

  • Not on mine after 3 months

  • i just bought a Nokia 8.1 few days back not about three days today and while i was on call the phone went into fastboot with 87% battery life, showing androidone and refuse to power one i allowed it be until the battery drained from 87% until 0% after 6 hrs, and then powered off, i then put it to charge it came back to fastboot 0% still charge Nokia services center kindly advise on the way out

  • That is good for 3500ma/h battery, considering this phone especially at price point.

  • 1 hour and 45 minutes from 0 to 100 with the 18watt original charger ,unless you are using the phone continuously while charging which hampers fast charging which slows down

  • 2~3 hours. The last few % takes a lot longer.

  • The camera lens are getting small scratches on the first day. I think they are made from plastic or really cheap glass.

  • How long does it take to recharge from 0 to 100??

  • Wish it had a Dedicated memory card option. When will it come ?

  • i bought 20 days back.build quality is awesome back camera is so natural and crystal clear.display is so pure look like triluminous dislplay.the only problem is volte.head phone is look like b&o and is extraordinary no need to buy other company head phones

  • I agree!. I bought this phone a week ago M impressed with the camera and overall features. I would recommend prospective buyers to buy the phone. My phone is updated with the latest security patch of v2.59E.

  • I'm posting this comment from my Nokia 8.1. This is the best phone I have ever had. If you want fast phone with good camera without spending to much - this is the best choice! After the updates there are no issues to worry about.

  • Thanks mate. Yes I too got April security patch with some fixes. I'm not keen on updating the phone to 10 for now. I'm happy to wait until a stable version is released.

  • Just got the April update,of your phone is a daily driver then hold on don't install it as of now

  • Well, at least I'm glad that 8.1 is listed to download Beta of Android Q..I'm confused if I should download it or not, as it say "Normal security updates will stop"..Hash..!!!

  • Im sorry apparently the flash is disabled when the battery is low

  • Exactly how long a day the battery lasts?? With full charge in the morning Mine is only up to 7 or 7.30 pm battery comes to full zero with you tube streaming about 2 to 3 hours and whatsapp and mails of about an hour.is there any defect in my handset?????

  • Nope, looks like they are messing up the updates for 8.1 like they did for 8,8 sirroco and 7 plus too.i don't get the logic of releasing a security patch at the end of the month for that month ,I mean looks like Google is a joker releasing it at start of month plus I don't understand that maintenance release system why the FK it has to be with the security update ,they can release as soon as they resolve any bugs that are there .why does one need to wait 2 months for patch and maintenance release

  • Did anyone in India has got April or May Security Patch?

  • camera flash doesnt work..I dont know if other people got the same issue

  • In India it is not available as of now for 8.1 ,the April update

  • media files

  • They recently released April update, please share your experiences.

  • As mentioned by someone prior, after the March update there are no such issues. Can i assume that the update did fix the delay issue already?

  • Use this instead if u do not like film or glass protector. IMO, it's such a hassle to renew the layer periodically so i opt for film. I also personally hate glass protector which is very fragile in general.

  • If you talk about value for money yes 8.1 is better ,and with your usage is should suffice easily

  • ,I am just using a transparent tpu case on my phone just to be safer, glass is glass

  • What kind of files

  • Instead of a tempered glass you can opt for those soft transparent nano films they are non obstructive and quiet ok unless you throw or drop your phone very much.i am using the same nano screen protector for back and front

  • Yes you can and it sim does work

  • Where the review for this phone

  • need your opinion.. was thinking to change my iPhone xs max to nokia 8.1, worth it? feel like a waste to own an expensive iphone since im only using the phone for normal usage like taking pictures and social media eg facebook, instagram and some chat apps..

  • Please also review this phone!!!

  • Can we transfer memory card data through second sim slot to phone memory does second sim work after using memory card ?

  • pls is a screen protector really necessary on this phone?? I got one immediately after I bought it but it doesn't perfectly fit the screen and ruins the experience in full bezel mode...

  • is it truee that this phone can't play files with 4gb+ size?

  • I tried this phone in a shop a 2 of months ago and really wanted to buy it, but what I really noticed it's not fast as they told. When I just press usual apps like calls, contacts, messages stuff like that then the apps don't appear very quickly but with some visible delay, about 1 sec. I don't know if it's due to 710 proc or maybe Nokia OS itself has such bugs but it's fact. So I decided not to buy it. At the same time interesting that Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 with 636 proc such apps open even faster. So whats' wrong with Nokia ?

  • Review please.

  • Nope, no issues whatsoever with lag or stutter. I'm on March update and it's performing brilliantly. Must have been early software they had stutter with

  • Depends on your usage ,it is always best to use a case with glass back phones it may not get scratched ever but can break on a given bad day,I am using a normal transparent tpu case along with the transparent nano film on display just to be safe

  • A quick question, can it be used without a case? I mean does it get scratches easily?

  • Loving this phone after 4 weeks usage. Camera is excellent in all conditions, surprised me in lowlight too. Battery is great, performance smooth and fast, build and screen excellent. Only negatives are wide notch and front camera is not the best

  • Sahil Shirke, mehtasameer2087 Thank you very much for your help. I think I'll go for Nokia 7 plus though, I know that Nokia 8.1 is overall a slightly better phone. But the price seems to be too high compared to Nokia 7 plus, it's $150 difference in my country, so Nokia 7 plus seems to be a good deal. Specs are not that better in Nokia 8.1 and I appreciate larger battery.

  • 8.1 would be the choice if price is not of concern Sd710 more power efficient and faster than 660, Pureview display and that makes a big difference albiet the large notch Build quality is premium class ,not metal thoug And above all the best cameras,it beats 7plus very easy especially in night shots as it has ois and better camera hardware with functional AI ,AI is just a joke on 7plus ,in night scenes AI does help, had 7 plus for a year and upgraded to 8.1,the difference is subtle but you will feel it,you can check the review links I have posted.

  • Forgot to ask, as I have seen some of you guys facing either hardware or software problems while others don't, I'm wondering wheather it is due to different batches of production. Can anyone facing the issues tell me the manufacturing date of the phone? Usually it should be printed somewhere on the box? Not sure though...

  • Just in time, I'm reading about emmc storage, such a clever hidden budget cutting. However, if you don't handle huge files transfer or high spec gaming, it should be fine as there is no difference in speed for regular uses. What worry me is its degradation in speed(results in lagging) over time. BTW, mine will be delivered by May 18. I'm still skeptical wheather I should get 8.1 or BB Key 2. I am a huge fan of Nokia back during window OS but I'm an even bigger fan of BB back in its hayday. However, key2 is a bit pricey and without authorized seller so I need to take risks with local carrying shops. Now logical thinking versus emotional thought eh..

  • No crashing or stuttering or any other issues, GPS is accurate and Bluetooth works great, the only issues for me are emmc memory instead of ufs 2.1 and heavy gaming but I don't think anyone would notice this but me because performance is my top priority and overall this is an excellent smartphone.

  • My personal daily driver is Nokia 7 Plus and I have had no issues with it and I am using this device for almost a year now. If you wish to go for Nokia 7 Plus then there are pros and cons Pros 1. Larger battery at 3800mah vs 3500mah on 8.1(X7) 2. Notch free display 3. Solid metal build 4. Lesser price Cons 1. Android 8.1 out of the box (though 9.0 upgrade is already available) 2. Thicker bezels 3. Snapdragon 660 vs Snapdragon 710 on Nokia 8.1(X7) I would still recommend you to go for Nokia 7 Plus as I have personally used it and it still handles anything I throw at it

  • I would like to ask you about your opinion because I don't have a deep knowledge about smartphones market: I have an opportunity to buy Nokia 7 Plus which price is 65-70% of Nokia 8.1 in my country. Is Nokia 8.1 worth such difference and is it much better than Nokia 7 plus? Thank you for any advice!

  • Oga thank you..

  • It actually takes photos not shoot paintings

  • And excellent cameras

  • Watch these 2 genuine reviews

  • That guy who said sluggish doesn't know"m" of mobile phone, he is pure junk, there is no sluggishness at all with phone, the Pickens with these reviewers if they can't stand Nokia coming back, they are happy with all these China junks, including this

  • Yes, I understand your logic and analogy but crashing and hanging while switching app is irrelevant. Please at least say that there's no such things. I do not care about gaming so I never thought of acquiring a phone with superior processor or pay for an expensive high-end phone. What I do need is smooth performance in multitasking. May I also ask: - how good its GPS efficiency is? - how Bluetooth connectivity performs? e.g. frequently reconnected? Thx a bunch

  • The problem with reviews is that the reviewers use flagship smartphones and then review a mid range smartphone like Nokia 8.1 and start comparing it to flagships and this is just wrong, I used the Nokia 7 plus since it came out and it was a wonderful experience and lag free then I upgraded to 8.1 and I liked it a lot and no such issues or lag but when in it comes to heavy gaming I want the best possible experience for a reasonable amount of money so I downgraded, yes you heard me right downgraded to the Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi and while it excels in performance and gaming, it falls apart in every other category, Nokia 8.1 has a way better LCD display with punchy colours and HDR support, premium build quality, clean software, a decent loudspeaker despite being a single speaker etc. Nokia 8.1 is a great smartphone for the price and way better than the competition so you made the right choice.

  • Apart from built quality which I'd likely lean toward Nokia, I still find a few reviews about the lagging and stuttering during regular use. Here is the quote from one such review: "Unfortunately, it proves to be a rather sluggish experience and one that you wouldnÂ’t expect to see from a phone costing £379.99. Basic actions like bringing up the keyboard can cause the phone to stutter, making for a jarring and frustrating user experience. Touch responsiveness when swiping around apps can also have lag, which led me to think momentarily that an app had completely crashed, only for it to spring back to life a split-second later" Have you or anybody else faced the issue even after the latest update? Please note that the phone is still yet to be delivered to me so your comments are highly appreciated. If this issue is really apparent and still exists without fixing, I may consider canceling my order. IMO, this issue is serious and a deal breaker considering my daily use. Thx in advance

  • Excellent phone no other word..but I am unable to transfer my photos songs movies from memory card.or from my laptop.then removed second sim and inserted memory card transferred all data to phone memory after that removed memory card reinserted the second sim when I switched on the phone there is no signal of second sim and also no trace of transferred data in the phone.bought this phone for enjoying multimedia but unhappy..till now second sim slot not working please help.

  • If u are in Nigeria and you hv glo sim are care about 4G LTE, dont buy X7 as it doesn't support band 28 but 8.1 supports band 28. Other than that, X7 is cheaper than 8.1. x7 is fine n is blazing wt 9mobile, Airtel, Ntel and even support Ntel VoLTE. I don't kn abt MTN Nigeria as i dont hv Mtn line to test. I got one from AliExpress on Thursday and on good Friday has time to explore the phone, its fantastic.

  • See how many people have posted that they have no problems,it's just that are mentally retarded to understand about glass and shouting about Gorilla glass not being their and disappointed by it,the main point is no phone is unbreakable,on a given bad day it will break ,it's not actually a tank you are buying

  • There is no problem with the build quality

  • Is this true? I have actually made a reservation for the phone but yet to receive so I can still cancel it. I'm skeptical that why some faced the issue while others didn't. It's also hard to believe that Nokia has failed in terms of built quality considering that I used to own 7 plus a few short months.

  • Full GSMArena review please!

  • Don't ask us ask Nokia

  • Why is the notch so wide?

  • good camera, good screen, good design. Very satisfied with this phone

  • Me 2, This phone really deserves a review from GSMArena. It is a bit too expensive for the offered specs. So we need to know what is so special about it ?the good ,the bad , the works....

  • I agree 1 000 000 times

  • I have a request for gsmarena to please review this phone

  • That could be service provider issue ,I am using Jio as well as Vodafone on volte (remember in India Vodafone and Airtel are not pure volte networks),no issues faced

  • Best phone i've ever used

  • Same feeling with my nokia 8.1

  • Nokia x7 is good but feeling trouble in data sharing. WiFi direct didn't work. Even didn't share data via data cable with laptop. Hanged during phone calls Screen sensor didn't work sometimes during calls You can't make a conference call and can't merge your call. Speed is good PUBG experience good

  • I wonder when GSMArena will do a proper review of this phone, despite giving it the title of best mid-ranger of 2018?

  • Hi guys. May I know, does anyone has a link for a working GCAM port which supports night sight mode as well?

  • go for 8.1,the battery life is oustanding, the design is very beautiful. I think the main camera of the three are almost equal

  • P20 with the monochrome and RGB sensor should be a tad better than 8.1(not the lite version),these 2 are best in their own sense

  • Hello, guys! Which phone is the best Nokia 8.1(250euro), Huawei p20(320euro) or Xiaomi mi8(320euro)? I'm looking for cameras - main and selfie and battery life - I'm not a gamer :) Thanks. :)

  • thanks for helping again. I have been trying to contact the amazon Germany seller for a couple of weeks, but nor the buyers neither the seller answer it. The seller is Amazon Germany itself, nobody answer...

  • I think nokia is very slow in smartphone competition now a days better phone are coming day by day.nokia please waiting for your next powerful smartphone with better camera,ip 68 rating and long battery. please any body knows when will nokia release it's next phone except nokia 9 and x71.

  • Pls which variant is more advisable to buy in Nigeria. the x7 (China) or the Global 8.1 version. I want to place an order for the phone today

  • And how do you know they aren't any good?? They are Japanese who are fantastic when it comes to tech

  • It is Gorilla Glass 3

  • I don't know if anyone else has experienced it but I had issues during phonecalls. I could hear others fine but others couldn't hear me very well. I was breaking up and that got worse the longer the phonecall lasted. Disabling VoLTE seems to have helped but I shouldn't cheer too soon.

  • For long battery of course Nokia. There is no compromise. And with android one even better than Samsung. Nokia is on the way to come back. They will be back in one day. Just wait.

  • I have read many comments about the touch screen problem..is it true ...

  • If you looking a for best android one phone this is the one to buy it without any doubt

  • thank you for the reply..I really need the upgrade my phone its already +- 7 years old and its hard for using 3g network in this LTE realm

  • Pros Display Performance Camera Build Battery Pure Android (android one) Cons Hybrid memory slot Notch is wide (courtesy iPhone) You can very easily go for an upgrade to this phone from rn3,but don't expect miui like custom features,it's pure stock android ,just having the camera and radio custom apps from Nokia

  • Hello, can someone who already own this phone give his/her opinion on this phone on pro & con?? I've planne to upgrade my "loyal" redmi note 3g to this phone

  • Also since you are saying you will be in Germany so have a look at local stores that should help more

  • Well you can confirm the band's supported by your service provider and from Amazon and buy it ,That should not be an issue, only thing is bands supported

  • Why Nokia Nokia 8.1 (Global) version also made in China Not Vietnam or Finland?

  • Thanks a lot for helping :) I will be at Europe for a couple of weeks, Do you suggest an European online store that sells Nokia 8.1 model TA-1119? I was planning to buy it at Amazon Germany in the link below, but nobody have confirmed which variant is sold by Amazon: I did some research, and It looks like that model TA-1119 is the one that I need.

  • thanks for helping. I tried to contact Nokia official support, but they did not help me because Nokia do not sell cell phones in Brazil :(

  • They are former Nokia employees

  • You can also chat online with Nokia support on their website for more conformation, that should help in finding out exact model as 8.1 is still not available in Brazil if I am correct

  • This may help

  • Brazil. I need a nokia 8.1 variant that supports LTE Bands B3(1800), B7(2600) and B28(700). Please, May you help me? I searched about it, and I am very confused. There are at least four different variants, and no Nokia Official documentation about its differences...

  • I am using ta1121 that is android one version available in India, with dual sim and 4/64gb version

  • Which country?

  • please can anyone tell me what about the audio in loudspeakers and headphone is that loud or low is that in headphone good or bad thanks

  • I can not figure out which nokia 8.1 variant is compatible wit my country LTE bands, May someone help me please? What is the difference between models TA-1119? TA-1121?TA-1128? and Nokia 8.1 6GB RAM 128GB supported LTE bands?

  • There are no touch issues on my handset, you probably have got a bad handset

  • The screen is both too responsive, making the use of the keyboard a pain because it senses touches that it should not sense at all, and not responsive enough, I very often have too touch the back button many times before it reacts, and this is a hardware problem with the NEG screen! Nokia should have used Gorilla glass, because NEG are unable to make the same quality glass even though they try to do exactly the same "recipe" as Gorilla glass? HMD is not Nokia, they do not have the same quality..., they only want to enrich themselves by using the Nokia brand!

  • i was a hardcore fan of nokia from my first mobile phone in 2004. have used till the n series . nokia 8.1 (nokia x7) is a wonderful model except the dedicated microsd card slot. its needed if you have dual sim to use for. hoping nokia will bring a mobile with dedicated microsd card slot, 4/6 gb ram and 3500 mah battery

  • Yes it can run Fortnite, just install the game from epic games website because it's not available on the play store

  • or asus zenfone max pro m2

  • While using this phone for 2 months, i found only one real problem i don't like, it can't run fortnite :)

  • How?

  • wait for oppo reno if the price, three or two time more than real price go to buy redmi note 7 pro i think its better choice than nokia x7

  • IMO, Nokia 8.1 is better than galaxy a50. the build quality and design is a lot better, and the android one support is nice for software side.

  • It depends 1) A50's One UI has more features but lesser updates. you can also switch key right to left on A50. One UI is pretty good. 2) N8.1 has vanilla Android. faster updates. but less customization on stock. but is faster overall.

  • Edit: Apparently NEG isn't as familiar as Corning Gorilla Glass but it is on the same level. Sorry for jumping to conclusions 😅

  • I picked up this phone 3 weeks ago and it works great! But I only just now read that it doesn't have Corning gorilla glass but instead it has something called NEG. Um what? Why no Corning gorilla glass? This might be why my touch screen reacts to the slightest touch and even when my finger is hovering closely above it. Nokia, stick to Corning Gorilla Glass next time and don't use vague brands like NEG!

  • Of course Nokia 8.1, but is little bit expensive.

  • 8.1 anyday hands down

  • Most beautiful phone

  • Which one is the best Nokia 8.1 or Samsung A50?

  • Not the light version, the normal p20 with monochrome 20mp lens and 12mp RGB lens

  • P20 was in with p20 pro the flagship from Huawei,my pick is Huawei p20 on this one,but don't expect many updates for OS and also I am not sure about performance, but for camera only it is a good bet.

  • Can't decide Nokia 8.1 or Huawei P20. Where is better low light camera and battery life?

  • We need a review!

  • Coming from a Super Amoled you'll definitely feel the difference. Amoled screens are just better no matter what, however the Pureview display isn't really bad at all it'll just lack the punch that an amoled has. The colour accuracy, tones etc are all well balanced and can put any cheap LCD panel to shame. The nokia 8.1 does come with an SD slot.

  • Please review this beautiful babe~

  • Please review it! Thanks.

  • No

  • Nokia 8.1 users: Can Nokia 8.1 take photos in raw format using stock camera app? Thank you

  • gsmarena please testing nokia 8.1

  • If you specifically get wet all the time then you can wait ,otherwise 8.1 can take a sprinkle, although officially there is no confirmation for it,new phones are launched everyday in the market so it's your choice of use which one do you want.

  • Need review

  • My friend told me to wait as nokia is releasing better phone with ip rating except nokia 9 in near future is it true shall I wait or buy nokia 8.1?

  • Yup

  • It can game Fortnite mobile so anything should be playable.

  • It's not that 8.1 doesn't handle games it does and very smoothly, but sd845 is definitely has an upper edge for gaming

  • Specify your usage,if you are looking for a gaming device then poco F1 other wise 8.1 is better than both of them, and just for info it's pure android so no extra features other than what Google has incorporated, only camera and FM radio are the extras on Nokia 8.1

  • nokia 8.1 vs poco f1 vs one plus 5t which one should better to buy?

  • 7.1 audio is bad. 8.1 is better. Rest all is great in both phones. 8.1 is bit expensive......

  • If anyone's wondering what all stuff comes in the box, here's an umboxing video

  • Pocophone F1, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2

  • Hello. I am planning to buy this phone. Is it good and what are the alternatives (upper midranger)? I am looking for something with a long lasting battery.

  • Can anyone help me to get camera hardware information ,by any app or codes, the apps like aida64 don't show the camera manafacturer

  • Does this phone support AT&T? Their main LTE band is 12, which I think is 700Mhz.

  • The screen is amazing, for the resolution, you won't notice any different beetwen fhd and qhd in 6 inch size

  • I'm considering buying this phone, upgrading from a Galaxy Note 4. I'm just a little bit worried about the screen, how good is it? Coming from an Amoled with 1440 x 2560 pixels to this, is it a huge different? I was considering buying Nokia 7 plus, but after trying it in a store, I thought the screen was so bad compared to Note. Also all this premium phones, like Nokia 9 Pureview, they lack of MicroSD and 3.5mm which is a must-have for me.

  • Dear GSMArena, please....please....please make a review for this phone. Not only me, people all around the world has been waiting for this phone's review.

  • Very disappointed with G.A. How can they proclamate the best phone of 2018 when they didn't even test it!!?? It is corruption that we are talking about? I hope not, even so I have the phone more than 2 months, truly happy.

  • Well then you would need someone to look ,perhaps some IT technician,I am using windows 7 too but no problem.

  • I do that , and nothing happend , click on Run set up and nothing , have 140 gb free storage on the hard disk ssd , windows 7 !

  • As majority of people already asked: where's the review GSMARENA !!

  • Pocophone & honor Play are also quite competitive with it. :)

  • Please review this device. Impatiently waiting.

  • Yes so run the setup and install the drivers and check if your device storage is accessible

  • The best offering in this price segment.

  • I try and nothing ! Thanks

  • Thank you for answer , whan connect phone with cable opens little window and whrite Run set up and nothing's happend ! Sorry for bad english

  • Try to unlock your device when you connect it to PC

  • Review it gsm arena ...

  • GSMArena review it please! :)

  • Can this play 4K at 60fps video?

  • 8.1 is better

  • Between nokia 7.1 and 8.1 some users say 7.1 is better than 8.1 except battery anybody please give the genuine comparison which is better option.?

  • Did anyone get feb security update? Being android one i bought this phone for timely updates. My samsung note 8 got it in the first week of feb. hello Nokia....

  • Yes possible, when you connect the phone it will prompt you to run setup at first pop up ,run it and install the drivers and see if it helps

  • Halp please , my computer don't see nokia 8.1 whan connect the phone , what is the problem , any drivers missing ? Thansk

  • Nokia 8.1 is far better than galaxy a7 2018 in camera, design, cpu, gpu, battery life..so,go for 8.1

  • This pun can Fortnite! O3O

  • 8.1 is better

  • 8.1 is better

  • I need suggestion on camera between nokia 8.1 and samsung A7. I took lot of snaps both day and night, so need a best one. Any advise..

  • Thanks for the article. In this article is reported, that in pure display there's a dedicated chip with16bit engine to convert in real time SDR content to HDR.

  • It has PureDisplay tech. You can get more info here:

  • X7 is the Chinese version. Not Android One. As we know Google is prohibited in China.

  • No NFC,no android one, that's the basic difference as far as I know, for band's I am not sure

  • No it not. Just software to enchance the color.

  • Here is the link for more details www.nokia.com/phones/sar

  • Please i wish to know the difference between the 8.1 and the X7 as there was a huge price difference. Also if the X7 support band 28, as i wish to get the 128gb from AliExpress.

  • Glad to have this phone,it's a perfect phone

  • This phone has great display, camera and battery, solid performance. Worth every penny. I am very satisfied with it.

  • we are still waiting for the review from GSM Arena. Why it is taking them so long ? Are they ignoring this phone ? whatever....please let us know...

  • Gsmarena please review this phone

  • Anytime

  • Thank you ,for your precious response and for the link of the well documented article.

  • Does anyone know what type of OIS is used,is it 2 axis or 4 axis Is it lens based or sensor based

  • 0.514w/kg head 1.49w/kg body Max SAR values

  • You can get some details here

  • I don't know about the pixel chip but it uses the 16 bit engine to convert normal SDR content to hdr real time that's for sure

  • Hi to all of you.Is anyone knows,if the puredisplay in this device converts SDR content to HDR,as in Nokia 7.1, with a chip (of Pixelworks), inside it?

  • Hi everyone, I want to buy this phone but i cant find Sar values for it I will be thankful if anyone write it

  • Yep, it's there.

  • Radio is there .

  • The screen, camera and design are outstanding

  • I was too curious about it so I asked Nokia customer care myself and they answered in less than an hour! They say : "Nous voudrions vous confirmer que les codes correspondants à la version globale de Nokia 8.1 y compris la France, sont comme suit: Double SIM TA-1121, TA-1119 Simple SIM TA-1128" So I guess it's the same or Belgium. But the french version is only a single sim. So you should check on the Belgium Nokia website if this is a simple or double sim. Also I don't know the difference between TA-1121 and TA-1119. Here is the screenshot of their answer :

  • I don't know the model number of the european version of the Nokia 8.1. But you should be careful not to buy the chinese or indian version! Because they will not have all the european LTE bands. So the phone will have an inferior mobile coverage and data bandwith. You could ask to the customer service by mail. Just go on your local Nokia website for Belgium and click on Assitance on the top right. I asked the French customer service about the available frequancy bands of the device and they answered within only two days! They said the phone supports these bands : GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA: Band 1, 2, 5, 8 LTE: Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41 You can get more info about frequency bands on phones and how they are important here (in French) :

  • When will GSMArena do a review for this phone?

  • Processor is good so is the graphics processing unit

  • Great phone !

  • just watch the video for durability

  • Anyone know when this will arrive in Indonesia and the Philippines?

  • Is this model good? I read about some issues with the screen? How long does the battery last?

  • pros: screen, camera, battery, design cons: no ir blaster

  • Why nokia 8.1 not have Ip68 water resistant

  • Why no review ? Why ?🤔

  • Gsmarena please review this phone. Waiting

  • I think Nokia Boss is come with 5 camera

  • Premium phone one could have in pocket.there is no gimmick to find.best and bright display full day battery life with heavy use.I have an opportunity to use my friend's phone for a week I am totally satisfied waiting to get 6 gb variant iron colour soon..hello nokia expect water and dust resistant with same features in next successor.thums up.

  • Handsome phone, very good on all aspect

  • Maybe got unlucky,I am just using a plastic fibre film for protection now , transparent one to be on the safe side.you never know which glass will break when and at what angle and with which hard object.:-)

  • A friend of mine bought a Nokia 8.1 and was disappointed: One day in his pockets with keys and the glass wasn't looking all that great. Maybe this wasn't his smartest decision to put his smartphone in the same pocket with the keys, but a decent smartphone screen should handle this with ease. Probably he was just unlucky, probably not. Who am I to judge?!

  • No such issues faced by me,connected mostly 24hrs on WiFi ,glass has not a tint of scratch with 2 big drops on floor, maybe you should reset it once to check

  • X7 has it(non android one) ,8.1 has Google trusted face for face unlock

  • Is it come with face unlock?

  • Extremely unhappy with this phone. It has wifi issues (keep disconnecting from some APs), bluetooth issues (doesnt work with samsung galaxy watch). Also glass (NEG) is crap, it got damaged first day of use, never happened to me before with gorilla glass.

  • Nokia 8.1 is the device with better pricing and good quality phone. The device has 6.18” display with dual primary camera of 12-megapixels +13-megapixel and a selfie camera of 12-mp in the front storage capacity of the device is 64GB.

  • Quick personal review after one month of daily use (coming from a Nokia 8) UPS 1. Excellent build quality 2. Gorgeous display 3. Very fluid UI, fast and reliant 4. Good response times on multitasking 5. Excellent telephony and audio 6. Gps ok, fm radio ok, NFC ok 7. Fast charging ok 8. Battery endurance very good 9. Camera a lot a lot better than Nokia 8 and better than Nokia 7 plus, very nice bokeh effects, excellent pictures on good light, video very nice and OIS reliable. DOWNS 1. no water and dust protection 2. no Qi charge mode (strange having a glass back panel) 3. Strangely no UFS for internal memory (not a big difference) 4. Strangely no 3.0 usb speeds even using usb-c port (noticeable if you transfer big chunks of information using usb) Downs I think are price oriented because this mobile can be considered as a medium-high level smartphone! Even with the "downs" mentioned above it's a very good thought, produced and oriented mobile device. Just my opinion, though.

  • Very beautifull phone, and glad that the FM radio is present on this phone

  • And why even talk about it when someone is not going to buy and use them

  • The touch sensitivity is not only glass by the xyz company it is substrate that is sandwiched in between and how close it is to glass,Gorilla glass is not a full proof and rocket science technology used glass in any sense, asahi is even better than Gorilla glass ,I have a Lyf phone which I have dropped on floor many times in 1 year of use and there is not even a feather scratch with no touch issues,it's just a mindset and nobody can change that if someone is stubborn to accept anything new and better

  • In my personal opinion this phone is way better for its price and it has quality, unlike poco and Asus giving good processor ,I don't say that they are bad but they are for different segment of people, but this 8.1 doesn't have a replacement in its price as a whole package,be it stability of performance, cameras, build ,it's totally in a different league

  • Well I have put a protection on both front and back glass ,I am also using a transparent case for more security, there are some good back and front glass protectors on AliExpress,

  • Yes I thought so ,8.1 would be better in camera as compared to zenfone5z

  • Belgique

  • Still no reviews yet?

  • Currently using the 8.1 what I'm worried is that the back glass is scratchable compared to the front. I think the back glass has no resistance or whatsoever but thr fingerprint sensor really is scratch resistant.

  • bro choose 8.1 .... it has zeiss optics camera and it is an awsm phone... and there is some bug with zenfone 5z and it is 1 year old

  • There are number of apps that have high amp gains and thats why I faced the same problem in Nokia 7 plus as well as 8.1,then I used the apps without any amp gain and their was no distortion ,just used the the EQ in the app(not the musicfx).this i faced in rn5 too but not mia1,so there is some locking of amp gains which some apps don't have access to change properly

  • Try musicana

  • Can someone suggest me which one would be better in camera ,Asus Zenfone 5z or 8.1?any link to see comparison videos please

  • HMD should have used Gorilla glass because even if "Dinorex" maybe is just as scratch resistant as Gorilla glass it is not as good as Gorilla glass! The screen/glass on my Nokia 8.1 is mostly far too sensitive, sensing touches I have not made making using the onscreen keyboard a very unpleasant experience, but sometimes the screen is not sensitive enough forcing me to touch the back button, or any other button anywhere else on the screen, three to four times before it sence my touch! This could be a software problem, but I think it is a hardware, "Dinorex", problem! I will probably never buy a HMD, "Nokia", phone again! My Moto X4 is far better, and was cheaper, than my Nokia 8.1!

  • Your country??

  • Black front, no thanks. Shame. White front please.

  • Hello guys, I saw you nominated Nokia 8.1 as being the best Mid-ranger of 2018. How it was nominated without having a review? When we'll have a review for it? Thanks for the great job you're doing. Wish you all the best!

  • Hi.. can anybody tell me which version number is for Europe? I saw so many vendor on the net mention TA1119 for low price! So is there other version?

  • Gorilla glass is just hyped because many of the vendors are using it,8.1 has NEG from the top most company Nippon of Japan ,it's on par and anyways glass is glass and Corning isn't giving you armour grade bullet proof glass for phones.point is the neg glass is good enough

  • I'm using Poweramp and I use this app on all of my smartphones and it improves the audio quality a lot but there is a very noticeable distortion when you plugin your headphones, I'm using Bose QC 35 and I can definitely tell you that audio quality was not up to the mark on Nokia 7 plus and based on reviews it seems to be the case with 8.1 but I can live with it.

  • Oh. The price might justify as the variant which you get in Chine is not under Android Once Program. Also I feel some bugs and cons have been fixed when compared to Chinese Variant aka X7. Still it's hard to justify the price they are charging for the phone in Europe. May be you should wait for some sale in your country where you can get a real deal.

  • Waiting for review

  • Just a nice phone, premium build quality, good processor and a great display. So, hard to complain about anything you might guess, but Nokia is just making fun of customers in europe. 450€ for this smartphone in europe and in china you can get it for 250€. For below 350€ this smartphone might be the one bugdet phone to rule them all. The second problem with this phone: Why is there no gorilla glass and why does it have a glass back. It doesn't even supports wireless charging. Those are my complains about this phone. Waiting for Nokia 9 und hopefully the pricing isn't to bad.

  • Just loved the built quality. The sound is great from bottom firing speaker, not that great with earpiece. The performance is great and after installing the G-CAM (made of POCO F1) , the low light photography is up to the next level. Also the selfie is great via the Stock Nokia Cam. Battery life is the best I have ever had in a phone combined with a 18W Quick Charge. Comes with Android Pie and 3 years of Security Update and 2 Os Upgrade. Who would not want to watch videos on HR10 Display. Crisp and Clear. Price in India justifies what's on offer. Please now don't compare the look and feel and experience with no frills (Chines Brands).

  • Very good phone, extremely good build quality

  • +1 for GSMarena to review it

  • Waiting GSMArena review for this cell phone

  • I had 7 plus for more than 8 months and then bought 8.1

  • Audio quality is good on 7 plus provided you use the right app, take a look at specifications like I said they are wrong for 8.1

  • Dear GSMArena Team, I have been waiting for your review of this beauty quite long. I need your reference :)

  • Actually this is the only site I trust when it comes to reviews because they're very detailed and accurate and their review helped me decide to buy Nokia 7 Plus and they mentioned for example that the audio quality wasn't that great through the 3.5 mm Jack and they were absolutely right so I'm eagerly waiting for Gsmarena's review.

  • Wondering what good of their review you will get, check the specs on the official site and check the specs here, if they are not correct at the first place, review is far distant benefitting

  • Waiting for GSMARENA review....

  • long time no review

  • I didn't understand the country details, anyway if it's not listed then you can get it from AliExpress or someplace ,just check the band's with your network provider, i am using model ta1121,dual some/64gb,and be sure of x7 and 8.1

  • In the link below, the name of the country is not listed

  • Which country?

  • Thanks, but I see only 4/64 on the site for the 8.1 version MEMORY Card slot microSD, up to 400 GB (uses SIM 2 slot) Internal 64 GB, 4 GB RAM

  • I have Nokia 8.1 budddy.. the one with Android pie and 6/128 GB storage..

  • It will depend on where are you from, what you use ,on Chinese ROM some features are added and some are missing ,like NFC is not there on Chinese version, also check the band's that are supported they are different, android one is pure android and Nokia pushes out updates very regularly on these.not sure about Chinese variant.

  • Well 8.1 is available in 6/128gb version at least here in India ,well there is no full full proof method of upgrading to android one from China ROM ,you have to change UID of the system and lot of stuff ,if you use telegram search for a group Nokia 8.1 or on XDA forums there are people who have done it they may help

  • That might be x7 s issue. I heard from some one else of this issue. If they use chip panel, this problem can be.like honor play and pocophone f1.

  • I want the phone with the 6/128,In your opinion, the android one is better, how do I upgrade this, android one will update?

  • You can do it but it's tricky ,why not just buy the 8.1 instead of x7,that would be better

  • Do you face this problem without gaming while swiping down notification panel from top right side of not then it shouldn't be a screen issue,I although don't play games but haven't faced any issue while swiping down the notification panel from that side

  • I just brought Nokia 8.1. it's a great phone but there is problem with touch while gaming.. sometimes touch are irresponsive on the top right corner of the phone.. is it defected price? Should I ask for replacement?

  • Can the android one be installed or upgrade on x7?

  • Do you think nfc will be operational in the future?

  • Redmi note7 pro is not yet out ,Redmi note 7 is and 8.1 images are better

  • Officially not but it should survive splashes

  • Camera is way better on 8.1/x7 ,I don't have much idea if you can remove all the bloatware but the x7 is not on Android one program ,8.1 is a android one device with pure stock android with only camera, FM radio apps from Nokia, also 8.1 features nfc x7 doesn't

  • Does 8.1 comes with water and dust proof?

  • thank you for reply, why x7? Which camera is better? Can I clear all Chinese programs ؟

  • X7

  • The design and the camera were amazing

  • oh yes

  • Clearly x7

  • hi guys which one Nokia x7 6/64 china Rom or redmi note 7 pro 6/64

  • It is not a problem with ROM (except lacks of Google apps in Chinese version). The problem is with hardware. Chinese version (X7) doesn't have e.g. NFC and there is less LTE Bands

  • Its a great phone, glad to have one

  • Nice phone....unfortunately dropped in water since then not working properly after service the problem persists please help .

  • Difference of Global Rom from Chinese Rom? Cause this phone is not available in our country yet. But I can buy the Chinese Rom thru Online Store? any major difference?

  • I love this phone but it's not for gaming, Asphalt 9 doesn't render full graphics like water drops motion blur etc, Can't play PUBG at HDR and Fortnite can only be played on medium. I expected more from the Snapdragon 710 but the display is good.

  • Yup

  • The most beautiful phone. it also powerful, great camera, screen and battery life

  • Neg dinorex glass from Nippon (Japan)

  • The screen auto brightness on Nokia 8.1 is far too aggressive/batterysaving/dark when used in anything other than the brightest sunlight! Because it "saves batterylife" I do not think Google/HMD will fix this problem! To fix this problem I recommend using "Velis Auto Brightness" by Velis Works!

  • Does it have gorrila glass

  • Heard that it comes with ip54 certification water and dust proof but not confirmed in specifications.

  • IP68?! :(((((

  • Get it changed since the screen is under 6 months replacement warranty

  • Yes they are since the parts are of high quality, and normally are linked to one another, for example if a screen goes bad the whole unit(pertaining to screen) is to be changed ,that's why they are expensive

  • Yes

  • Many thanks for your reply and answers.

  • I am facing issue of screen edges is blurring. I am very disappointed with nokia 8.1

  • My friend told me not to buy 8.1 because it's parts are very costly and not available easily service is not that quick. is it true??

  • Ok,best wishes

  • I am sorry, but Nokia 8.1 desperately needs software updates because there are so many annoying little problems! My Moto X4 is still far better than my Nokia 8.1! The Snapdragon 710 in my Nokia 8.1 is faster..., and have better battery life, than the Snapdragon 630 in my Moto X4, but my Moto X4 feels a lot faster, as long as I do not try to play PUBG because Nokia 8.1 is better at gaming!

  • Good review.

  • With respect your replies and the Youtube link sent is not very helpful at all. I was hoping to really get some real answers here (and Nokia's website which was just appalling) but never mind. I'm just gonna stick to what I think is best...a Motorola, Xperia or Galaxy.

  • because gsmarena has not yet published the review of nokia 8.1 ???

  • One more just for reference

  • The only thing different on that video is the gestures, android version and NFC,on 8.1(android one device) you will get pure android pie gestures ,you will get android pie out of the box and NFC is present unlike the x7 which is the Chinese variant(,which is not an android one device).

  • Here is one of the videos which is pretty much explains everything

  • You can check the review videos for more clarity ,my answers are pretty specific as what you asked ,cpl ,lean and lawnchair are launchers

  • I'm sorry but what is lean, cpl or lawnchair? Please kindly re-clarify and be specific with your answers.

  • Please kindly re-clarify and be specific with your answers as they are not very clear to me. My questions are very specific.

  • It's an android one device so it's getting mostly what pixels are getting including gestures ,there is no Samsung or Moto style gestures, whatever is on pure android you will get those pertaining to pie

  • Customisations are possible with lean or cpl or lawnchair more than stock launcher

  • It is splash proof but no official ratings

  • Other 1st & 2nd point it has got everything, system wide dark mode is not available till now but some apps are running in dark mode ,NFC,blue light filter,OS update for 2 years, eisand ois, full manual control and everything you mentioned

  • Nokia 8.1 have PureDisplay, that meen that have HDR10, and have OZO audio. size is 154.8 x 75.76 x 7.97 mm, and camera slefi and main have Zeiss optics.

  • 1. Does it have option for a systemwide dark theme? 2. Does it have Dolby Audio (or custom equalizers) in the audio settings? 3. Does it have selfie flash or screen flash when taking selfies? Does the front camera have EIS? 4. Does it have an NFC and blue light filter shortcut toggle? Can you set the time for blue light filter to turn on? 5. Does it have various settings for screen mode under Display? (e.g. Vivid, Adaptive, etc.) 6. Is it splash-proof? (i.e. against light rain or accidental thrown in sink) Or is there an IP rating? 7. What bitrate (in kbps) is the audio recorded during video? 8. Does it have full manual settings under the main camera menu? 9. Does it have the "Clear All" option on the multitasking pane? 10. Does it support full Android 9 Pie gestures similar to Pixel and some Motorola and Samsung phones? 11. Are you able to customise the Google search bar on the main screen? 12. Will updates continue beyond Android 9 Pie? Thank you all.

  • It comes in 3 color options: Blue Silver (Dark Blue), Iron Steel (Magic Night Silver) and Steel Copper (Night Red).

  • To be blunt there is no one else to compete in OS other than the gold plated IOS,WP was there but it's history, gestures are very well modded on custom skins like miui

  • Some people like it the way it is, unadulterated

  • We are waiting full review by gsmarena.

  • My Nokia 8.1 have really good batterylife, after 21 hours with 7.5 hours of screen on time with rather heavy use streaming full HD movies over 4G and playing games and installing/uninstalling apps/games, it has 10 percent battery left! The screen auto brightness is too aggressive, it is almost always too dark! The screen is both too responsive and not responsive enough, I often have to touch the back button 3-4 times before it goes back! The speaker is ok but not as good as the front facing speaker on my Moto G4 and Moto X4!

  • If I only write to Google then nobody else will learn about the problems before they buy an Android One phone, because reviewers love Google regardless what they do and Google think they know better than everyone else!

  • Write to google ,no point in commenting here what can't be changed on an android one device, stock android will remain a till Google implements any changes

  • Android One gestures are horribly bad, and they do not even make the screen "bigger"! I recommend "Fluid Navigation Gestures" by Francisco Barroso for gestures done right! Android One do not have "one handed mode"!

  • Is nokia 8.1 6gb ram available for purchase in offline stores or will be availbale after 6th feb? Please answer anyone who know

  • Money matters

  • Is nokia 8.1 6gb ram already available at offline retailers or will be available after 6th feb in india?

  • You will enjoy it.

  • Thanks a lot, please tell more information about screen quality of nokia 8.1 I am a heavy video watching person.

  • I wonder why GSMArena hasn't reviewed this phone yet?

  • Really check their forums and see how problematic that device is,just by giving sd845 doesn't mean it's a good phone,Asus always has problems with their software.i would suggest you buy a poco f1 that way way much better than Asus if you buying any other thing than 8.1

  • ips LCD will always give you accurate colours than any amoled display since colour gamut is different on amoled, also there is not much of a difference in power consumption on the newer IPS panels especially the ltps ones ,also the screen burn issues are lesser on lcds

  • The screen is very beautiful and the same goes for the design

  • Totally overpriced - nothing fancy about the handset - 22k is ok for these specs - just try and compare it with ASUS 5Z - which amazing phone in all aspects - NOKIA is giving a CRAP deal...

  • Nokia 8.1 with 6GB/128GB variant launched in India with a competitive price segment(zenfone 5 and oneplus) of 29,999 INR

  • Amoled will drain battery less when watching movies, would be more contrasty and overall better quality (unless it’s a really poor amoled panel), but because amoled brightness is controlled by PWM (pulse-width modulation) at 200-240 Hz, it might be not suitable for some eyes - so for those people lcd screens would be better

  • Which panel is better to watch movies confused ips lcd pure display vs super amoled..?

  • Is nokia 8.1 water proof and dust resistant.??

  • The main point of releasing 8.1 ,(successor to 7 plus)with upper mid range specs was to eliminate the .1 plus conjunction ,and Juho sarvikas clearly stated that in Dubai launch.so I don't think there would any pluses.

  • Just rather wait for the 8.1 plus

  • 8.1 plus successor of 8.1 india launch imminent !!!!?????? Shall I wait or go with 8.1!!!

  • Nokia is just so bad at marketing.. they spent so much on advertisment which result in overpricing of their phone.. e.g- Nokia 8.1.. I am ready to buy 8.1 but only if they gonna offer a 6gb ram variant.. if I can spend 27k for this handset then why can't I just spend 2-3k more for better version of same handset (More storage and more memory). But there is still no sign of 6gb ram varient launch in India.. So I am going to buy other handset in 30k segment.. Nokia loses it's customer itself...

  • When nokia 8.1 with 6 gb ram 128 gb storage coming to india. waiting to buy ........

  • Why do all brands want to do that their phones look like the iPhone X? Why do they want to put a notch? Is it really necessary?

  • Yes it supports widevine L1 and also the normal content is converted to hdr on the display that's why it is called pure display, there is a big misunderstanding that pure display only means playing Netflix and other content in hdr ,the fact is that there is a chip inside that converts your local normal content to hdr for better view.

  • Hey, guys, Is this phone already support HDR display?

  • Ta1121 ,I am using in India ,dual sim,4gb/64gb,android one device

  • Thx for your reply.. your TA1122 is from which country?

  • There is a Chinese Non android one version and the other android one version, basically you need to know that and check the band's available,I using ta1121 which is an android one device with 4gb,x7 is available in both 6&4gb with 128/64gb and x7 is a non android one phone

  • Try lawnchair, lean, cpl launcher they have double tap to sleep and are bare bones

  • Which model is compatible with Australian networks such as Optus, Vodafone and Telstra?

  • I saw Nokia 8.1 on ebay with low price 345€ version TA1119 , while the price in the European market is 399€ , but I don't know which version is that? So should i care about the version number? Is there a difference or it's only one global version ? Thx

  • I was so curious that I actually bought this phone, and I am using it right now writing this comment! To be able to turn off the screen without using the power button and then be able to use the fingerprint scanner to unlock without password... I really recommend this app "Turn Off Screen (Lock Screen)" by redmanit! On my Moto X4 I turn off the screen using the fingerprint scanner, and I really miss that feature on other phones! I have not used Nokia 8.1 long enough for a "review", but it is good so far even though the screen sometimes is both too sensitive and not sensitive enough. Nova launcher and Microsoft launcher do not play well on Nokia 8.1!

  • Excellent phone with superb design.. 6GB ram and oled screen would have made this phone fantabulous

  • Here watch this

  • It is officially not available for US

  • It is 4seconds as mentioned on the camera app and photos taken at that shutter speed

  • Well I don't think there is any sluggishness, using it from 21st,not even restarted the phone post fully setting up,cameras decent are these guys serious ,it beats op6t which nearly 11k INR coating more ,these reviews are not worth reading ,the people who are actually using it for more time will tell the truth, there is absolutely no problem with build quality too, albeit it is glass and like any other glass back phone it will act the same way,I can give you at least 5 more reviews which say that this phone is whatever not they feel ,I would recommend highly to not go through these reviews from anyone ever ,if possible go and see the handset in person or talk to someone who is using it

  • I recommend reading the good review of Nokia 8.1 at "Trusted reviews"!

  • Camera shutter speed is 3.5s

  • Outstanding phone

  • Nokia 8.1 does not seem to work in North Carolina (USA). It cannot connect to any 3G or 4G network in this area. Frequencycheck.com confirms that it is incompatible with AT&T and T-mobile 3G/4G/LTE networks in the US. I am stuck with this phone. It worked in San Francisco somehow.

  • Yes it is 4sec

  • Can I know the longest shutter speed in pro camera mode in nokia 8.1? still 4 s?

  • Do they even gonna release the 6gb ram variant in India or not?

  • Same here in the netherlands, wanted the red one very much but I guess I am unlucky with only the blue and grey one available here

  • When are they(gsmarena) going to review this phone?.... Its been around a month since release.

  • Common Nokia, Bring up some gaming phone.. The world need it right NOW..!!!

  • Yup that wine red and steel is a looker I have it in India ,we have 2 options here blue one and the wine red or iron steel as officially said, and it's feels like a glass of wine in your hands ,it's absolutely stunning:-)

  • From what i've seen and searched, the colors only available (at least in France in physical stores) will be blue one and grey one. Can someone tell me why the purple one isn't released here? It seems to a great and rare color! Not common like grey, white or blue (or black)

  • But meizu don't have NFC

  • I have FM radio in my Nokia 8.1

  • There is an option to hide the notch under the developer options. Sadly, no default option to move the notification bar below the notch :(

  • There will be a notch, but not visible notch, that's what you meant? I saw some pics, and yeah, there is a notch, but it stays black, the notch is like invisible. I actually don't like the notch in general, and it is true that it will give less space for icon notifications.

  • Notch is not to see on European version Nokia 8.1

  • i see thanks! I just gotta wait some months and see the review about it :)

  • i see! Isn't there anyway to remove the notch thing? i mean, with an application or software, to have a notification bar below the notch ?

  • On very very use you will still be able to get thru the day easily on 8.1,smart use will give you 1.5 days with some juice left

  • Currently I am using nokia 8 it's a nice phone. as I travel remote villages for my work I need two days battery back up phone with bright vibrant screen to watch movies while travelling as well listen to music play games and good network reception with best call quality . on nokia 8.1 box it has been assured two day battery life. shall I go with 8.1 or wait for another monster battery handset launch from nokia. fan of nokia since 2009.. please suggest.

  • Well the large notch leaves a very little space for displaying the notification icons, considering Nokia 7.1 having such a small notch, it makes me wonder why they put that large notch in this phone, when there is no dual camera or infrared scanners etc.

  • But 8.1 and you will be happy

  • I am waiting for the 6gb ram varient of Nokia 8.1. Nokia said they gonna release it in January but still no news. I am losing my patience. I rather go for another under 30k

  • Currently I am using nokia 8 it's a nice phone I am a heavy user need very good battery back up phone (about two days without top up as I travel remote villages on my works) shall I switch to 8.1 or wait to launch nokia for another new launch. Only nokia nokia please suggest.

  • The front camera of 20 mp is unecessary to you, but does it still make good pictures? Would you recommend this phone? I'm searching for a phone with good performance overall, good autonomy (it would last at least 1 day), taking good pictures and videos (for personal use, not professional), run smoothly with many apps opened, and running some games (not too heavy, though) I saw earlier a video and picture samples of Nokia 8.1 and it was really amazing. The quality of pictures were very good, and the videos in the night! It was a comparison with the Nokia 7 plus. I hesitate between Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 7 plus. Nokia 7 plus has the pro that is its current price (about 250€ right now in physical stores in my city). But Nokia 8.1 seems promising, but a bit expensive for my money (i would prefer buying a phone around 200-250€), so of course i would wait for the price to decrease. The nokia 8.1 seems really promising, with a snapdragon 710 that is (according to what i found online) better than 660 (normally it should! but it depends on the smartphone, of course). Apparently, the 8.1 has Optical image stabilisation, that is why the pictures and videos are greater compared to the 7 plus (according to an article i've read) by the way, can someone tell how much the price of Nokia smartphone decrease over the time ? (like 3 or 6 months after). I wonder how long should i wait until the price of the phone is , at least, below 270-300€ Anyway, the nokia 8.1 is really appealing!

  • what's wrong with the notch ? i wonder

  • Very nice phone for the price. However a Nokia 7 for less might be a good alternative option too.

  • Using this phone for two weeks now. Performance is smooth, battery backup is great, rear camera is okay and works better with gcam mod. However, issues start with the unnecessarily large notch with no special sensors or extra cameras out there and it blocks most of the notifications, the bottom chin is also quite large. Also, there is something terribly wrong with the front camera, it just overexposes everything like crazy, and even using gcam didn't improve it either. The display is hdr, and this should mean high contrast and deeper blacks. However, when compared with a lcd of LG G6, it's black don't look good at all, and at angles you can clearly see the color shifts and the blacks becoming grey. Overall, a decent phone, but still a lot more to go for Nokia to regain some of their glory.

  • Yes if you are asking ,it has FM radio not mentioned in gsmarena tech spec sheet

  • Does anyone have tried gcam on nokia 8.1?

  • Nokia 8.1 have a FM radio,

  • Thank u very much.

  • Did someone has tried the performance of GPS on Nokia 8.1 ?

  • You can install play store and stuff ,but 2 things to note..as said by OP it's not a android one device the x7 ..second check the availability of bands they are different on Chinese and global versions,

  • Yes , and both vendors provide high quality, Gorilla glasses is just more hyped, taking care of the device is of more importance ,a glass is a glass and always prone to breaks and scratches, just get a good scratch gaurd and a transparent cover ,infact you can get scratch gaurds for both front and back, dropped mine a couple of times no dents and scratches occurred.

  • Perfect Phone, since i need camera quality for my official purpose, it does it best. Performance also good, Sound quality was awesome, Camera Qulity perfect and clarity. Only thing which i don't like was front camera 20mp, which is absolutely not necessary ,

  • Neg vs corning gorilla glass!!!!! ... safe to buy 8.1 or 7.1??

  • I got my X7 to Android 9 and so far it's great. On top of new features in Pie, it keeps the old navigation gestures along with the new google nav bar, which was my main reservation from going Pie.

  • You don't get the android one program and there were some other things but you really should look it up because the differences could be huge and you dont want to take the risk

  • Agree

  • What kind of GPS chipset does Nokia 8.1 have? is the new Broadcom BCM47755 or an older one? thanks

  • Thanks.

  • Toughened glass like Gorilla is from Nippon a Japanese company ,NEG , dinorex,

  • Note7 redmi

  • What is "protection NEG" ?

  • What 48 mpx junk?

  • it has 300mah less battery, and more efficient SoC, so I'm guessing it's same

  • I'm waiting for GSMarena's review of 8.1, especially the battery rating as compared with 7 plus.

  • This phone is WOW

  • Correct, especially with that 48mp junk launched

  • Do not get your hopes to high you will like the review. I can not say i have ever read a review from GSmarena being more positive then negative.

  • Don't we get any review from gsmarena on X7 or 8.1? I'm eagerly waiting to get a review statement. And I'd like to seek attention of real nokua X7 user. Can I use Chinese variant as global. I meant, will I face any difficulty in using playstore, gmail?

  • If you care about OIS camera modules, get the 8.1, Sirocco is lacking OIS. I would agree with rest of the users here. Get the 8.1 it's a newer device. I'm getting one too.

  • In continuation 8.1 is a newer device

  • 8.1 for camera and overall performance, sirroco is ok.sd710 won't leave you very far behind sd835 plus you are getting the best cameras as of now on any Nokia device so choice is yours

  • Meego harmattan os was so good that even apple copied the gesture UI of meego in their iPhone x.

  • Now there is no competition between mobile os.

  • Actually Nokia went down because of bad leadership by Stephen elop.

  • Nokia rose up from trash and ash. Just waiting to see the day when Nokia and Motorola will be the Kings of all smartphones.

  • Well said. And you forgot to mention that Nokia is going to launch the world's first phone with 5 cameras.

  • Hi thanks for your respond, btw do u have tried it? Does it unlock well in the dark? Because it doesn't not have infrared for face regonization on infront. Correct me if im wrong. 🙏

  • yes it does.

  • I'm quite fond of recent Nokia phones. In my opinion they have the best price-to-camera ratio (Nokia 7 Plus for example). Now considering to buy 8.1. In my country the 8.1 pre-order price is about the same as current price for 8 Sirocco (about 420 EUR). What do you guys think, which of them is better? Especially from camera perspective. Ps. GSMarena, when will the 8.1 review be available?

  • Pls check for me whether this phone can unlock using face id in the dark? Im going to buy but need to check this first. Thanks

  • Hi need ur help, could u check whether this nokia can unlock the phone in the dark using face id? Ur response is really appreciated

  • Hi. I just wanna know face unlock in the dark, is it working well? Cause i have nokia 7 plus right now and it is unable to unlock in the dark. Could u check it for me? Im interested to buy this phone but need to check this feature first. Thanks.

  • Video playback in hdr looks better in Nokia 7.1 as compared to 8.1 but when it comes to camera 8.1 is far more better... except hdr playback, i love everything in this phone...Battery optimization is nice(battery backup) and phone gets quick charge 50% in 25 min... Build quality is premium....but front camera is not upto mark that i was expecting...selfies are not so colourful but are very detailed...

  • The most beautiful snapdragon 710 phone so far..

  • Let me teach you somethin'. Amoled extremly overrated, i know, cause i had a lot of them. Nokia 8 is my first device with lcd since more then 8 years now. Battery is greater then any amoled i have ever owned, you wanna know why? Cause amoled is useless in a system with 70% white menus. Lcd has come a really long road and i heavily tend to think they actually got better then amoled. Bright and saturated colors, deep blacks and hey, less battery consumption and no burn-in. Believe me, no matter what others say, amoleds burn In!

  • Nokia never sold at lowest prices and never gave a bad product. Only that they got stuck with with their OS and a bad leadership, they lost out. NOKIA is still a huge brand. HMD is lead by people who were in Nokia only. If NOKIA lends its brand to HMD , it has done consciously. I wont be surprised, if HMD goes back to NOKIA lap after a few years. I have not using a Nokia, but my next phone will probably be a NOKIA. It will surely not be a Xiaomi. A brand has its value. And a Nokia will be a bit overpriced to retain its worth. Nokia has been one of the fastest launchers in 2018 and will be so 2019 is my guess. Also, Nokia has kept themselves in news continuously. This is good marketing.

  • Always loved nokia product since 2001, take back your rightful position in phone market, happy to have you back.

  • Thanks for sharing James! I'm pretty certain that it was notification for Pie update. It said December security patch was included with Android 9.0. My X7 also updated to 8.1 as soon as I turned it on the first time out of the box.

  • I doubt it was a notification for Android Pie; you may be mistaken. My X7 updated as soon as I connected it to internet - to 8.1 Oreo. Not Pie.

  • Specifications have an error: I own an X7 and it DOES have an FM tuner. Works great. Tuner app is very good too.

  • Nokia is getting so close with their phones. The only things that are missing with this phone is an oled display, and maybe branded 32 bit audio like what LG does. That, and getting rid of the notch.

  • Nokia 8.1 better than 7Plus.

  • When will this be available in Indonesia?

  • The metal frame of this phone is shining,it makes the phone very wonderful

  • I have the Nokia X7. The other day I received notification on Android Pie update. I skipped it for the time. Now I want to update, but when I check in the Settings, it says my phone is up to date, no update available. Any recommendation is appreciated.

  • This phone is a beautiful beast,,very happy to have it

  • poco f1 has cancer screen bleeding so no for me

  • Nokia 8.1 over all best smartphone under 30 k compare to any other smartphone

  • It is like calling Trabant better then Audi only because it has a motor. Shut up man, you are not even funny. People have to lack a lot of sense to even consider that peace of garbage or be to rich to give a d about their money and where they go.

  • Poco f1 you get a better overall smartphone for a way cheaper price

  • Should i go for x7 or 8.1, they are nearly the same If i go for x7 can i update android one??

  • Well I don't think WiFi and cats are related ,cat is much more of a LTE thing and WiFi depends on to her frequencies

  • 8.1, and there is a lot of difference, starting with looks and body to camera to chipset ,the overall performance is much much better than 7 plus ,I used 7 plus for 8 months

  • Nokia 8.1 or Nokia 7 Plus? Pls suggest. I cant see much differences

  • This phone is excellent, no doubt Built quality Performance Camera I'm satisfied with this phone ..

  • Poco F1 is like a egg which will break even a single fall on screen And Nokia 8.1 is hard as Stone You can choose which one do you like in terms of quality(Nokia 8.1) or quantity(Poco F1)

  • Yeah....I agree with you

  • Gsmarena is wrong

  • GSMARENA says no Radio inside. Soneone lies here.

  • Best phone to date from nokia..with 3,5 mm jack and FM radio,i think this phone is better choice than galaxy a8s or huawei nova 4

  • I'm thinking about getting this phone but I'm a bit concered with the network speeds. Does the cat 6 speed affect the wifi too and how big of a difference is it compared to other phones with cat 16/18? Cause if it doesn't affect wifi I dont really care about it.

  • Only 1 word Perfect in all parameters in this price. Guys, try new feature " Swipe finger print for notifications" Nice working try.

  • Why don't you make Led Notification Nokia, why???

  • Try musicana music player ,for normal earphones, maybe you find it better( not from type c)

  • Build quality- Top class, premiumness oozing from all sides. Notch can be covered if needed. Iron color looks stunning. Display - Excellent color reproduction Battery - 18-20 hours on Heavy Usage (6hour +SOT) On moderate usage will go-to second day. Light usage, 2 full days. Excellent standby time on single sim. Performance : Smooth, fast, no complaints Software: Android Pie with December security patch. Smoothery, lag free pure stock Android experience. Camera: Excellent daytime pictures. Low light is on par or better than most Android flagships. Video is good, Ozo Audio makes difference, better than pixels and iPhone in this department. Front camera- images little bit on sharper side, nothing big, but Nokia may fix it through software update. Audio quality- Through stock headphones, it's OK ish..not good, audiophiles will loath it. BUT... figured a solution. I am using a Type C headphone from letv bought from Amazon for 10 dollars /700₹ . Excellent audio quality coming from it, as it has DAC inside headphones. Overall, fully satisfied with the experience. No complaints whatsoever, only audio quality through headphones could have been better.

  • What would you prefer a smartphone with solid build ,pure android ,excellent cameras and a decently fast chipset or a plastic egg gaming device

  • Pocophone f1 is better. I guess.

  • If you need a gaming machine, buy a Poco. But if youre normal user, go for Nokia 8.1. Easy

  • poco f1 or nokia 8.1 ? plz suggest guyz

  • please increase the video frame rate..

  • Am pretty sure, it is the user;). Just joking. Android Pie? What apps? When were they last time updated? Android pie is kind of new, a lot of apps might have problems on it. In rest there is no reason as of why it crashes besides, system.

  • Yes audio quality is better than 7 plus ,speaker is louder and earphone sound is also improved, just don't use the Google junk music app

  • For all the people shouting glass protection read the below

  • Actually the gorillaclass is not different than the normal class i see more mobiles getting crashed

  • Hi All, I am trying to get some information on the volume levels of the Nokia 8.1 for both the speaker and using a standard wired headset for calls, music and movies the GSMarena doesnt have any information at all, does anyone know if it is much better than the Nokia 7Plus?. Thanks for your help

  • It have check this Don't provide false statement

  • And why are you even here if you are not interested,go to whatever you like

  • Stop acting and posting nonsense if you don't know about what glass is

  • Exactly ,just because every second phone is using it doesn't mean it's unbreakable,it may have other properties like clarity of glass, there are lot of hardened glasses available in the market like Nippon and others ,a glass will break no matter what if dropped at certain angles or on certain sirfaces

  • At 1399 yuan (US $203) for the 4+64GB variant, the Nokia X7 is one of the best deals in the upper budget/lower midrange segment. However, the global 8.1 at more than double the price...

  • That tweet is nowhere to find now. They have deleted it seems

  • Actually the gorillaclass is not different than the normal class i see more mobiles getting crashed

  • Nokia said its had gorilla classic 3 cg in nokia Twitter

  • I am waiting for ur review of NOKIA 8.1

  • Stop defending

  • i bought the mobile 10 days back, build quality and screen quality is excelent, but..Apps r crashing too much, in a day 10 to 15 times apps r crashing, whats the problem with this mobile

  • Welcome to Viet Nam 03-01-2019

  • What do you mean bruh? Alll Nokia phones have headphone jack. Isn't that enough for music consumption. Why would they ever do that?

  • If you watch the Dubai launch Juho has mentioned use sculpted glass, even Honor devices mostly doesn't come up with Corning glass ,it might be Nokia is using asahi,or some other glass, and very frankly Gorilla glass or any glass shatters,so it's better to take care of the device,on a side note I dropped my device from 4 feet approximately and nothing happened

  • No

  • Nokia chat support is saying that Nokia 8.1 does not come with Corning gorilla glass protection. So I think this is official stand of nokia on this issue

  • This Pure display

  • Anyone knows if this phone has a led notification light?

  • There is not one device this days that does not cone with gorilla glas or other types of tempered glass, the name does not tell the story. Anyway, hmd does not quite brag about the glass, probably because, it does not matter anymore. However, from experience, gorilla 3 is much better against scratches then the 5.th edition, so, that might be the only reason i would be interested what v. of the glass it has.

  • Does it come with Corning gorilla glass protection

  • I'm in Hanoi Vietnam, where did you get Nokia 8.1 this early(28/12) and for that price?

  • 100% Agree

  • hi. Does anyone know why china version(X7) is 250 EUR but Global edition (8.1) is 400EUR?what's different?

  • So far best midrange of the year. Cheers !

  • The 13MP secondary camera on the back should have included the zoom feature (like on the Nokia 7 Plus and 8 Sirocco) which is very helpful. It is kind of waste to use it for Bokeh purpose only.

  • Honor v20 or asus zenfone 5z priced at 25k in flipkart would be better choice than nokia 8.1

  • Dear Mister dkk, I doubt that you're living in India so here are several information that you need to know :> Well, the avg lte speed in india is about 6mbps, whereas in ideal condition, the speed of the phone equipped with cat6 can be up to 300mbps. Even in Singapore, the avg speed is approx. 44 or in Vietnam in which the nokia 8.1 will be released soon (28/12) the lte connection much lower than the ideal speed (24mbps vs 300mps). Thus you don't have to worry much about the connection speed. Secondly, since HMD did not talk about the term water resistant, a page has proven that the 8.1 is splash resistant Not convincing? Even Nokia 7.1 is rated as ip54, It unreasonable that 8.1 don't have the same feature. Moreover, it do have Gorilla glass 3. Welp, Some people like amoled, some don't. In my point of view, I prefer lcd due to the colour accuracy, hence, it's more true-to-life, not that artificial and oversaturated of the amoled screen. It also ships with hdr10 compatible screen, so what you want more at that lovely price tag? Furthermore, the performance of sd710 is not that bad, I mean it beyond my expectation. Just have a read: Last but not least, the term 'overprice' that some of u guys mentioned *not u* can be the result of tax. In Vietnam the Nokia 8.1 will be sold at 7.499.000 vnd (22.590 inr) which mean it's 4.410 inr less. Therefore it's not overprice at all.

  • Can you please share the Twitter thread link

  • Nokia said its had gorilla classic 3 cg in nokia Twitter

  • Maybe in notch land..

  • I think you have to forget about notification led because next the trend of full display will be on its peak. But in this era you never know what is next. I also love notification led but what user can do. Atleast Nokia have to utilise huge notch area. Latest device Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 have smaller notch but it has notification led, flash etc.

  • Which you can afford, while iphone 7 is more than 2 years old. Nokia 8.1 is latest android-one device. So regular update and upgrade. It has everything even 3.5 mm headphone jack which is not in iphone 7 and expandable memory(hybrid-sim). Nokia 8.1 is a great device for long term. I am not Android Fanboy but Nokia 8.1 is much better than iphone 7 in 2018 and upcoming 2019.

  • Will Nokia ever be launch phone for music lovers as nokia xpress music and so and so

  • If there is a beauty contest for all the phone to date,,i'm sure this one will win for sure..

  • Confuse between Iphone 7 and Nokia 8.1. Which should i buy? Help me. 😭

  • In the developing country like mine, Cambodia, Nokia/HMD does not have a plant so they will have to pay for import-related taxes which will make the price higher than in China where their plant is. So i guess this is the main reasons to make the difference in price

  • False information first educate yourself than others

  • if you checked the china variant X7 having No Headphone in box, No Android One, No NFC. Hence Nokia 8.1 have great quality headphones + Android One + NFC so the price is increased. Even there are some tax difference if you live in india there is a 18% GST applied to final payment now calculate what it should be.

  • Nokia 8.1 comes with stock ui it means it is android one device and x7 comes with Nokia custom os....

  • Why doesn't Nokia make any of their model got Led Notification. I've been waiting until 2017 but no model got Led Notification. Please Nokia make it and i'll buy one.

  • I think we all need to know the difference in their pricing.....like i said, something is not right

  • ........but slow down and wait a minute. What is the difference between the Nokia 8.1 & X7? Is it because X7 is exclusive to the Chinese market and do not receive security patches or what? Then if no difference, why are the prices different? Something is not right

  • this phones is BEEFY af

  • In the next year, 2019

  • the design looks very beutiful,,plus it's android one phone..i think i will go with this one

  • Agree ,the balance of good specs and good performance is trademark Nokia,it is the type.of phone you can always look to use and it will always perform at its best

  • V. Good camera setup with OIS and V. Good bookeh mode and slow motion 120FPS / 720p Zeiss optics Android Pie out of the box with fastest monthly updates (AndroidOne project) without any bloatware Nice design with gorilla glass on both sides and aluminum frame Snapdragon 710 (10 nanometer tech) which is the same technology of SD 845 HDR 10 display 3500 mAh battery USB type-C (Huawei nova 3 & Galaxy A7 2018 don't have one :p) This is the best specifications u can get for 400 $

  • I will go with huawei, but for a midrange with sd 710, lenovo Z5s is the best price to perfomance.

  • Why so difference price from Chinese version.

  • Then go for chinese lenovo Nokia is not for you. Go cheap

  • For the same specs you can get Lenovo Z5s for 220 euro with better design.

  • No this price is not of a midrange it's a budget flagship

  • Very satisfied with this phone !! it was very beautiful, the bezel are slim, the screen, camera,n batery life are very good..absolute recomended for everyone

  • Beautiful and solid handset with ,as usual trustworthy performance, keep it up Nokia ,just one flaw in the box ,no case ... :-(

  • Tell me which phone does that A place where you have low network and hence mobile data speed is slow youtube will automatically convert those videos to lower resolution but in Nokia 7.1/8.1 you can watch those videos on HDR Quality even though video is of low resolution. Even there displays is of HDR10 Compliant and SD710 is one of the latest cheapset as well. They are not giving you that price of flagship level they are midrange enough. Super amoled is just a hype even LCD can give better display experience that is proved and that with HDR10 compliant what else you need?

  • Hdr 10 support qualcomm 710 chipset

  • Haha, cool. Didn't know it is alreay out. Ps the notch has the proximity sensor inside too

  • The Nokia logo at the bottom looks disgusting!!!

  • I presume is kind of normal. India is kniwn for it's taxes. In china are assembled, so of course there are more cheap. Now, their pricing ways, i do not know... so when it cones to that i am out. If find them ok priced in Europe.

  • no super amoled screen no dual speaker. over priced.why i am bought this phone

  • This phone is great and very beautiful !! battery life is good, camera is good, and the snapdragon 710 will rock your world

  • over priced not even an amoled screen gosh that chin and nokia logo at front big no add some bucks get a one plus

  • Carol, its not about quality of Nokia mobiles. Query is more on pricing. In China, X6 and X7 differ in price by ¥400, which is about ~4,000 INR. However, in India, the difference in price of these mobiles is 11,000 INR.

  • You really think that a 2 years old company ca have such Great information just by, what? doing it? HMD might be 2 Years old, but this devices are made after strict rules of Nokia technology. They are actually made with Nokia technology. From OZO audio to hardware design, antenna design and oh everything else. So yes, Nokia is bigger then your xiaomi crapp and the rest that follows. Hack NOKIA actually licensed some parts of their technology to all of them mobile OMS, 5g being one of them. As for foxxcon, that assembles the devices, what do you know, they assemble for apple too, and for many others. Welcome to globalization. But you do not know what that is, right? Of course not, if you knew you would have had something to say besides the normal nothing. At the end, i really do not give a ... about your knowledge. Peace, out.

  • Im not comparing, i dont care for that, only for good all round phone. But fact is HMD 'dil date' is only comparable with Motorola (in Lenovo ownership). Motorola also have history, also have good build phones (most of them), also.. Have exacly same or similar 99% software. HMD is 3-th grade brand, but that expected. And only people like you can compare brand 2 years old (just because of the name in front panel o guess) with brands that are in mobile market more than 20 years.. (Read Samsung). Even Huawei, have better phones than any HMD on the market, also Huawei or Honor have cheaper phones with better spec, better cameras, better cameras in same price range, than HMD.. Can you name only one known OEM (even from China) that uses Mediatek constantly in the last half year? Only HMD, their all low end phones use only MediaTek (even mpre expensive) Nokia 3, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 5.1 Plus ... Etc.. Shame for Nokia name, and on the other hand customers does not have normal choice in this range. Nokia 8 300€? Well that old model , with 16:9 ratio, have last year processor 835 (where is 845 on Nokias in last year?). Take a look on 8 Sirocco, OLED made by LG (worse than Samsung), also old phone, but still price is for some reason more than 300 euro. Right? Foxconn is more Chinese than Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OnePlus..

  • you are 100%.if nokia was not hired Stephen elop and choosing android early then we are able to see nokia to be very innovative brand and phones like indisplay fp,fully bezelless display, good 41 mp camera as on past, etc in present.there will be no rise of brand who are successful now like xiaomi, oppo, vivo, etc.

  • I just miss the original NOKIA were regular people can afford it, No matter if it's flagship or not

  • N8 is the best mobile from Nokia i use it tell now

  • He is also the mastermind behind it. So you are right to blame him.

  • Exactly.

  • Actually i am a fan of good stable devices that nokia always produced. And my nokia 8, is beastly fast, great battery life, great lcd panel and stable as a rock, also great call quality (as expected). The cameras are not on paar with 1020 but are not even close to bad, as you all complain. In the same time, you can't expect an dslr at 300 euros, (the price curent nokia devices are walking). Stop comparing a 300€ device with a 1200 one, it ain't cut it just because has a name. It seems to me is the other way areound, just because it has nokia writen, no matter how much it costs, if 10€ with top of the line hardware and camera will be great, right?. Hmd till date, have not released any camera centric device, so cut the winning! I must know, i own nokia n8 lumia 1020 , lumia 950xl. The best cameras out there and do not complain, but chicky micky whos phone has a camera of a 2 mpx point and shoot, complains. I know i know we all like to complain, none likes to learn. As for the prices, what? To much? When you compare with what? Xiaomi? Oneplus? Gickymiky? When you stop conparing Nokia brand with those crappy devices, then you se how actually normal priced tgey are. Nokia is not a bran that aims for ship work, to get cheapper. And yes, HMD should actually Vo for Samsung and apple... not crappphone, drappphone, whateverphone.

  • Carol, you have a big point. The thing is people should go back and read the history of Nokia that they can't compare with as at then when they was Meego & symbian os. I truly blame Steven Elop for killing Nokia successfully.

  • yes...to choose between MeeGo, Symbian, windows phone 8/10, Android and lastly ios would have been awesome....unfortunately its only android vs ios now...

  • What i want to say is new Nokias have good build quailty (most of them), but have worst cameras than old Lumias, there is no Pureview tehnology in those Nokias made by HMD/Foxconn, there is no PureMotion, No ClearBlack, also they are good in updates (like any other androidone phone), but software is basic, why HMD does not have own skin like rest do. Every other known OEM have developed own skin, but also have here and there androidOne phones.. Also, their price is not right (HMD is not Samsung, not Apple) they are not available in EU in all operators (at least not all models from 2018).. Symbian was on all smartphones with Nokia logo from 2003, until 2012, or you saying than Nokia was on Windows mobile back in the days? Is not. Microsoft ruined Nokia mobile division, and only who want Nokia after all that was HMD Global Oy, not Samsung, Huawei or any other big name, to use Nokia as sub-brand.. It seems that you're fanboy of Nokia letters only, not tehnology, because, only Zeiss for now is on HMD phones, nothin else..

  • Yes it supports Slow motion 120FPS / 720P

  • What a nonsense Cat6 network speed No gorilla glass protection No waterproofing LCD display nautch, and that's too large. Why all company giving nautch? It cut the display on every apps. First design that type of apps. 710 processor It's very cheap product.

  • Yes, but let's not forget nokia n8. That was one of the best selling smartphones of 2010 and has symbian, and Belle had a lot of potential, but was abandoned, mr laptop's fault. Nokia made a lot of mistakes in their way, mainly cause of naivity and Pride i give you that. But if there would have not been the felop CEO, we would at least have more then 2 systems on the market to choose from...

  • when this phone in market(date) pls ?

  • hmm.............cat6 ?

  • i agree with Meego...it was pretty good os.....but symbian was basically developed towards non touch screens... i have used lots of nokia symbian devices like N70, N73, E5 etc..multi tasking in E5 (with a meagre 256 MB ram) was mind boggling... but symbian started going downhill with the arrival of touch screen devices and apple iphone.. whereas android os is mainly developed with touch screens in mind and immediately become a ios rival..and symbian went extinct...

  • There are two things you do not understand. Android was a sh''t in front of symbian, only now in 2018 has something to say against it. Nokia had MeeGo. A system of the gestures everybody are copying now (after w8 years), even android, oh let's not forget the copycat of them all, ios! They did not fail to go with android, as i already said, elop faild to be a real Nokia CEO. He was just a mole inside of an true european Company.

  • Last original nokia with it's own os? I pike people, they like talking no matter what they said. Sybian was bought by Nokia in 2011. Symbian is not a Nokia original system, but only further developed by it. Also, Nokia as a brand is Nokia as a brand, HMD is a company that produces Nokia phones using Nokia technology. Sorry, but i am not here to explain marketing to you or anybody but i cand see the lack of knowledge in this area among a lit of comments here, i am not a marketing guy, but i know here and there how actually things work, and to think Original is only that that is made only there in this world, would be like saying everything this day is a conterfit of it's own. Because NOTHING is made in the same place. Everything is wide spread Globaly, so what is actually original for you? Uou have no idea what you are talking about. Nokia devices of now are exactly like Nokia devices of then, just cause they use Nokia technology, you can't just stample a name this big on a device you have no ideea how to make. You need the technology to actually do it. And HMD must oblige Nokia's standards, Original Nokia enough for me. Let me Guess, Nokia devices that were assambled in Hungary were not Nokia original devices? What are we talking about here? There are a whole lit of exemples i can insert here, from Outlook who was bought by microsoft (not original?) To skype to Blackberry to whatever other brands they are sold, being sold, buy or bought.

  • nobody asked about Samsung...i was comparing Nokia to Poco..where is Samsung in this?...and its my business to state my opinion as this is a free country...Since you are going to buy Nokia 8.1 go ahead and buy it...people can have different opinions and that's quite normal...and time will tell whether the game is 'on or 'over'....wait and watch

  • also check the comments by Xyz, AgheelElectro, Avinash about pricing

  • 'Tell me another platform that is on the market?'....that's what i am saying Nokia choose to embrace android as they had no other choice...they had this chance few years ago and they blew it...it was not because of 'proud' or something but stupidity, arrogance etc..they failed to see what the future is...Samsung saw the opportunity now see where they are...up there with the big boys..the big fish...as for Xiaomi and poco, they do not have a legendary logo like Nokia, so they depends on cheap pricing...and they have made great progress..something HMD global has not done so far ....so unless they learn their lessons fast new Nokia is going old Nokia's way.....Nokia is now a small fish in very big pond...

  • Overpriced how ? Just because it's a 710 does other things matter to you. L1 support Fast charger out of the box andriod pie out of the box. Unlike Samsung whose A7 I was interested in but Samsung didn't even bother to give USB Type C let Alone Fast Charging. Nokia is a brand with value and yes they do charge their premium. And don't worry Nokia isn't going anywhere now. The game is on 😉

  • This Nokia name is HMD phone, nothing more, nothing less. Original Nokia sade in 2011 'we will never use Android os, because we want to be unique' and phone division goes on windows phone and ms direction.. now 4-5 years later Nokia logo is on Android platform, with half baked os (the worse in androidone family, unoptimized from HMD side). Like i vrote, because of HMD global who use Nokia lic for phones, tablets, and not for original Nokia. Those phones does not exist years back (Nokoa 808 Pureview was last original Nokia with own os).. So they repeting same mistake, this phone is overpriced by 20-30%, they are not Samsung or Apple, not anymore :)

  • Tell me another platform that is on the market? And now you know why... Nokia was Proud and stubborn, not greedy, there is a big difference... "If they are so good why are they gone?" Since when good and marketing have something to do with eachother? People would buy crapp if it would have been marked as gold! Why Nokia lost? They were skeptical their will be to many people that would embrace smartphones. And they had a good reason. 90% of smartphone users have no ideea how to use them. Symbian was a platform for people that actually knew how to work with such a device. It was way ahead of everything that came out after 2005, way way ahead. And that is why they were subborn and boght the platform for them selves. Even so, not symbian and nokia lost. Actually was the decision that destroyed nokia incomes, steven flop is quite known for it. For killing the MeeGo (a system that would have brought android down.by now) and calling symbian a burning platform in the middle of nokia n9 release, what Nokia had in mind, could actually work quite good, if sh'tlop would have not decided to sell nokia devices to MS. Nokia, as a company was betrayed, sold and destroyed by the big corporations they actually underestimated, while overestimating the mass, they did not get the fact that the mass are just a bunch of sheeps and one can take a huge advantage of that, instead apple understood and Nokia learned a lesson a little to late. As for overprice? In comparison to who? Picomoco? Xiaomummy and whatever other contrafit goods called brands by kids this days whom parents pay for their will?

  • Asus zenfone 5z or nokia 8.1

  • Anyway love your location id...(-:

  • Ok.. Mr Know -it-all..here it is...i did not bring apple crap into this..you did..i do not care what patents Nokia owns...if Nokia were that good why they lost the market?... because they kept launching symbian craps when Samsung and others were embracing android..Nokia were so stubborn they thought that people will buy whatever crap they were producing..they were still greedy..everyone knows what happened after that..they went downhill..shut down symbian os.....got married to Microsoft ..bla bla bla Now when they are trying to make a come back they are repeating same mistake at least in pricing even though this time they choose the correct platform.. i never said Nokia 8.1 is bad device..i only said its overpriced.. it is not old times when Nokia ruled..now there are plenty of alternatives.. Also nobody is forcing to buy pocophone..if you don't like it don't buy..got it? Now tell me why Nokia choose android this time? if you want more keep replying..i am waiting

  • Does it support slow motion video? If yes how many FPS and at what resolution?

  • agree

  • that's what i am trying say..but Nokia fans...

  • I highly doubt you know something about Nokia, with this claims, i can tell, you know nothing. Nokia got greedy? When? Iphones were more expensive then any nokia device right since ever. And do not come to me with: do not compare nokia with iphones cause bla bla bla. Nokia has more patents in the mobile world then apple has days on the planet. As for the money, nokia always were balanced devices, they never aimed for best chip and pocket brackeble phones with signal and voice quality of a trash can. There is a reason they cost a bit more. Tell me, where is the manufacture factory of this plocophones? On a ship most probably. There are no taxes paid. Nokia has a bit more the just let's make money, as you claim. Of course nobody works for free, and to winn is a good idea for a company. But first, learn who nokia is, then come here with lacking claims. Cheers.

  • they must reduce the price

  • When its compared with Poco F1 for the processor and other things i feel POCO Is good and more over with the camera i see MI A2 does better than this i believe. Will wait and watch how it performs . But with the cost of 27INR its not the worth 710 Processor chip :( SAD

  • i know what Nokia is....once a legendary company who got greedy and greedy and become too stubborn to adapt to market conditions...finally died a slow death.. Now trying to make a comeback with a platform they should have adopted at first place....still greedy with their pricing thinking that people will buy because of brand value.. well, good luck with that... hoping to see a 'million' Nokia

  • And the price also matter nokia 8.1 is cheaper Why not comparing this phone with another xiaomi at the same price ? Xiaomi mi 8 has the same price a little bit expensive for the official price but not that much You find then better display a super amoled one better camera better design faster chipset it is a far better deal than the nokia Stop comparing this to poco even if poco is better in many aspects but this phone is expensive for its price

  • Compaeing Nokia with poco- zen- cen- boom- poc- pac- phone is Like comparing AUDI with Saic Motor, dongfeng, jac- gac- motor, zotyac and whatever other crapp. Stop talking if you can't understand the difference, by doing it, it might make you smarter.

  • I do not know what you think Nokia brand is, but it ain't poco moco my friend. It is actually a brand, not a quick buck take advantage of the trend, temporary companie. Pocophone my a'''.

  • new charger pins ? how ? when ?

  • Ok...then let's see Nokia sells how many 'millions' of Nokia 8.1

  • Does it support Google Maps by GPS Without need for I tenet ?

  • why it doesn't have an fm radio?

  • I think price of this phone is right, bcoz It has Glass body design Pure display (HDR10) With latest android 9 pie New processor SD 710 Zeiss optics with OIS Nokia OZO audio NFC Type C with 18W fast charger ..

  • Good to wait for honor v20 launch on January.

  • Lol A phone is not made just from a processor .

  • Original Nokia 8 is so much beautiful than this piece of junk They ruined the classis design with this iphonish bad design

  • Naah!! Nokia Will soon regret theire price flag decision ,price should be under Rs.22k.

  • Yes me, because when you disable the notch, you have a bigger upper bezel which makes it asymmetrical. Nokia 5.1 plus is more symmetrical.

  • Hmd will never ever reduce the price of nokia phones. Max discount of 1k can be availed during festive seasons.

  • Yes dude.. HDR10 display, carl Zeiss lens, glossy body, metallic frame These really doesn't matter.. only SD845 makes a phone good.. :p

  • Nokia 8.1 Without display protection , it is unbelievable

  • agree.... Nokia have better camera.. but i think the price difference of Rs 7000 is too much..may be price will come down after sometime.

  • Nokia has better camera,better display,better build quality,,stock android,and in practical world not much diff b/w 845 and 710.

  • when the Nokia 9 will come ?

  • RIP Nokia soon.....nokia 8.1 6gb 128 gb variant will be launched in india on next month. Price hopefully 5 digits

  • POCO F1-6GB/64G-Rs 19999----with Snapdargon 845 NOKIA 8.1-4GB/64G-Rs 26999----with Snapdargon 710 great job Nokia!!

  • Yuck! Nokia notch!

  • Too high price Nokia 8.1

  • Another phone that has a notch and doesn't have to. Meh

  • Nokia 8.1 price very over actual price 23999 to 25000 at list and GORILA glass 5

  • I think Nokia will reveal inbuilt fingerprint mobile in MWC 2019.

  • hybrid slots are so annoying.

  • Without any display protection Nokia's price is soo fanny

  • HMD's joke prices, as usual . . . They live from Nokia fans loyality. for INR 25k you can get a real flagship ZenFone 5z (ZS621KL) w/ Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM and so on ... Even in Europe is it on sale for € ~300 I think the best value phone to buy, this time . . . even that overhyped POCO is just a joke-phone by this ZenFone 5z prices. The Max Pro M2 (ZB631KL) - if you like Android pure - will be a much better offer as well. First look around, then compare!

  • Anyone else slightly bothered that the notch is thicker than the chin? Also why do the corners have to be so rounded. However its better than the fat chinned 7.1

  • Definitely this Nokia 8.1

  • Price looks fine

  • Nokia going to Again loose market, Repeated Same Model design as we see 5.1 ,6.1 plus, now 8.1, there's nothing special in look wise, if we pay 10k or 28k we get same model design, Even most of Mobile company provides #inbuilt screen fingerprints as the same budget ....

  • Does M2 Pro come with Android Pie , SD710, Type C USB , Camera with OIS ??? First see quality and real specs then compare. M2 Pro and Nokia 8.1 are very different opponent.

  • Nokia 8.1 arrived in India at INR 26,999 (approx. 371 USD). It is available on Amazon from 20th Dec. This time Nokia done mind blowing job. GOOD JOB NOKIA KEEP IT UP.

  • With brand and hdr display, hmd expecting profit in india with high price for nokia 8.1. Will never buy , waiting for max pro m2

  • This phone or Samsung A8s?

  • Still hybrid slot.....! Not buying.

  • just buy note9

  • Ahhh Nokia, why you guys ruins a good phone with slapping your logo (name) all over the phone. Back is good enough, just like everyone else. Looks hideous with that logo on the bottom of that bezel.

  • Redmi Note 7 Pro will be SD670 not SD710. SD710 is an expensive 10nm based chipset. Xiaomi never do bussiness of loss.

  • HMD have been at it for a while, but I still don't see any sign of 60fps video on any of their phones. If the Nokia 9 comes out without 60fps then my expectations of them may very well just drop below my self-esteem.

  • Nokia 8.1 is very good like Nokia 7 Plus. This device is no compromising. But PRICE GAME will definitely hit sales of this device. I hope Nokia do good job. They will launch at aggressive pricing. Waiting for this device in India.

  • Nokia 8.1 aka Nokia X7 is best among all. Better camera with OIS Android One (Faster updates) 3500 mAH battery Android 9 (pie) out of the box Type C USB Snapdragon 710 (10nm) +Trust of Nokia and many more If you can afford this best device in your mentioned bunch.
