  • I have a 8330 from Alltel. This is my first and last blackberry. The problems with the phone are so BASIC is seems ridiculous to even have to state them. I travel to New Orleans on a regular basis. Would say you could set your phone to it, but you would have to have a non-blackberry to do it. When disembarking off the plane look at my phone and the time is wrong. Have to take a $500 phone and manually change the time that a free piece of junk from the local convenience store does by it's self. The other BASIC item is closing apps that are open. There is no close all or simple way of doing it. The only option is "alt" "return" and switching to that app and going through the effort of closing it and every single submenu. Then just keep repeating that for an hour or two till you get everything closed. Yeah real simple. Of course with my razor when you shut something off it actually closed not just hidden in sub menus. RIM and Blackberry need to get their act together or get out of the way.

  • HOw can you see which software version is on a Blackberry phone ?

  • I'm sorry but this is going to be quite long. I just need your inputs... I've never owned a blackberry but i'm now considering it. why? emails. partly for business and partly for personal use. Business: when i'm out of the country and get business calls, i end up spending so much. I was thinking that having the blackberry and emailing instead of calling would save me some cash -- any comment? am i correct to think this or will it just cost the same? Personal: I'm not the type of person who logs on to my pc just to check my personal email.. hence i've accumulated loads of unread emails from friends i'm trying to keep in touch with. I'd rather tinker with my phone or send an sms versus emailing, but some of these friends are in another country. So basically, I want to get a BB so that it would be easier for me to email them. I'm a current owner of an N95 that's loaded with a 5mp camera and mega 8gb memory. It has themes that i can download online and i can save music files. I love the camera, but figured i could settle for lower mp as long as the picture quality is good (doesn't have to be excellent). Do you guys think that the BB will bore me? Any input will be really really appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

  • I bought this phone simply because its gorgeous I dont own a business and i dont even email, i dont even know what this phone can do but I LOVE it

  • Hi We had some of the same problems in my business i think you may need to look at an XDA or some thing like that that has mobile windows. Most of the XDA units can support blackberry so that function is there All the blackberrys we use have word excel and PDF viewers hope this helps

  • Dear All, i have the curve and i got it from vodafone egypt. how can I update the firmware of the device? does anyone know?

  • hi all, i run a finance business that relies on email i need a phone that is reasonable in size and can recieve emails when im out of my office all up average 2 business days a week im out of my office, i like the size of the pearl but there isnt much good news about them in this site forum, what do i get, and i hate touch screens.

  • I am looking at getting myself a BB. I handle multiple businesses and hence use multiple email IDs, 3 to be precise. Any idea if the BB can be configured to handle multiple mail IDs, like I presently do on MS Outlook? Can anybody recommend the best option from the models available? I am looking for a model that can support: 1) send/receive file attachments in mail 2) open & edit of Word files 3) open & edit of Excel files 4) open PDF files 5) etc. I want the service only for me (not for anymore staff) as I am constantly moving between offices. Can I work it as a stand alone device or do I need to setup the BB Enterprise Server?

  • thx mustafa

Themes look great with this phone and email/browser is flawless. This phone is Silver so it looks WAY better than the 8310 Titanium. (8310 looks disgusting in my opinion!)

  • can blackberry 8300 edit the adobe pdf?

  • I have been using Curve 8300 since past about 6 months. While the phone is good to use, it has given me technical trouble twice during this period. First, within one month, its trackball conked off. I had to give it away for repairs which took about 15 days. Now recently it has developed new error. The USB port has gone bad due to which I cannot charge not take any backup. Have to send to repairs again. Buyers beware. Even my friend using BB has problems with his Pearl instrument. All in all, BB seems to be snag-prone. They are not sturdy.

  • This is my first BlackBerry ever, and I have to say, it's an absolutely fantastic phone. Push email on its own is fantastic technology, but push email on a phone is even more phenomenal. It's light, easy on the eyes and most of all, it's functional! The design will only make the BlackBerry appeal to non business users. Absolutely fantastic!

  • Please do not buy this phone. I am afraid this will become the new Razr. Everyone will have them.

  • My comments on Blackberry Curve 8300 are very much positive, since 1996 I have changed hundreds of mobile phone sets like Nokia, Samsung and SE and used one Motorola only which was Razor. Other all phones were highest priced and good quality, when Mobilink launched Blackberry in Pakistanwith affordable price I have decided to go only for Blackberry and I purchased BB 8800 on 4th July 2007 and then BB 8300 Curve on 11 August. I am very happy with the services of Mobilink Pakistan on BB and performance of Curve 8300. There is no complaint about Mobilink, the services is really remarkable in Pakistan, the fastest communication service of the country. But I would like to ask all of you to kindly help me to find out a Holster with Swivel Clip in Black Color for my BB 8300 Curve. Kindly send me your Bank Account Number with other details so I may send you the money for Swivel Clip Black Holster for 8300 Curve. This Holster is not available in Pakistan and online shopping site the country Pakistan can not be selected. Please help me in this regard when I purchased my BB 8300 Curve the pouch I received was very simple, No swivel clip, no flip cover, I didnt like this pouch, I can not clip this with my Belt. My frineds I have sent emails to RIM, BB Shop and all others and there is no answer, no help, nothing, Can any one send it to me via DHL or Fedex, Kindly bhelp me, if you are ready to help me kindly send me your details so I may arrange payment if you need in advance. Waiting for your reply at; [email protected] Thank you very much in advance, if any one is planning to buy a business phone, the Black Berry 8300 Curve is the most favorite and intelligent choice. God bless all of you

  • I think RIM should be called Research In slow Motion...no wifi,no HSDPA..isnt it suppose to be a business phone...i know that in terms of email, it is unparrelled but everybody deserve better especially when other brands are offering more....i personally was thinking of shifting to the curve but i think will have to wait....pity RIM.

  • hi all ; some one in his opinion sent here said that where is wi-fi and 3g, in blackberry 8300, all you know that it is not neccessary that wifi should have and 3gshould have in buisness phones, i am using blackberry 8300 and i am very happy with this phone , in pakistan blackberry has gained a very good market share with lat couple of months, the demand of blackberry is reached on its peak in pakistan, corporate sector is crowded with blackberry 8800 and 8300, all users from pakistan are requested to endorse this fact by sending their emails here, unfortunately all bb users doesnt use this site,

  • this phone is amazing

  • the company is called RIM, blackberry is just the product name......

  • hey where can i find da call transfer feature.......pls help

  • I wanted a phone thats small..fairly light with the QWERTY keyboard..and now i'm curious..would the owners of this phone say its mostly for business..or would they say that it can be used ofr virtually everything including MP3 playback?

  • I hope not, BB with WM6 on it "UHG"

  • There is a rumor that Microsoft will take over blackberry

  • It is great. We talking about Phone can be used fully for Business. BlackBerry is mainly made for USA market which consumer have no idea what is in market. Not for outside of USA. This phone if is set to be business phoen then where is the wi-Fi, 3G, and so on? Look at Song P1 please do same and much more than Blackberry on such as 3G and Wi-Fi too and also give you most of multimedia too.

  • Hi guys. All that I need is a honest opinion. Forget about camera and songs between this phone and E90 Communicator. Lets get this straight, both phones are for busy executives, now which is a better choice in term of performance. Thanks

  • Guys, I run a small business. I don't have the Blackberry Enterprise option. I only use the PUSH option on my local email (@rogers.com) is there a way I can syncronize my rogers/yahoo calendar with my Blackberry Calendare wirelessly? What about contacts? Cheers

  • I installed desktop manger 4.2.214 however when i open it, it doesnt show icon for media manager. someone please help as i need to upload mp3 but i cant do it without media manager

  • please notice that this phone is not a 2mp camera but a 1,3 mp its bescribed rownly whit this info whit many companys

  • Maurice... While not all Blackberry Phones are attractive, there several reasons why may prefer BB to those with Windows flavors or Symbian: - The OS is just fast - Very easy to use - Equally many applications written for it as for Windows - In the case of Curve, Pearl, or 8800, the designs are very attractive and usable - Sturdier than most phones (i.e. survives hard crash/drops) - And, yes, WAY MORE STABLE than Windows (trust me, I tried so many times with the various versions of Windows, and I ended up either returning the phones or giving them away!) - And, yes, the easiest-to-use email service

  • It won't be much longer for both the Blackberry 8320 and 8820 to release with integrated WLAN(WIFI).

  • I read most of the comment abouy why should use BlackBerry. But still do not understand if it meant to be for e-mail and business. Then it would be good idea to include 3G and Wi-fi. Businessman travel around the world. When i am in Japan United Airline Business Launge. BlackBerry is useless if you have no 3G or Wi-Fi to down laod e-mail or go through internet.

  • Hey "jeffs" go here: "http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8300-series-discussion/91736-why-should-i-choose-blackberry.html " for a well rounded answer

  • Nice phone but I cant understand why it doesn't have wifi. Very strange for a business phone.

  • I need an intelligent experienced blackberry owner to fill in the blanks for me. Why do most people choose Blackberry Devices like the 8300 or 8800 over Windows mobile devices such as the T-Mobile Dash other than stability and corporate access? I have used the Dash for a long time and I find myself attached to the ability of liberty with WM devices. For some reason I feel that WM devices are superior in multimedia activity than Blackberry's. Correct me if Im wrong. Why should I be converted into a Blackberry user. I find so many more people using Blackberry's than Windows Mobile Devies. Why? What more functionality does a blackberry have over a windows mobile device?

  • can this sync with ibook g4 10.3.9 with pocketmac? has anyone tried it?

  • Can you upload pics on the curve from a PC...and then use them as contact pics?

  • is it possible to have the coloured of the trackball changed?

  • Does anyone know how to just turn on the flash for the camera w/out using the camera part?

  • Is there a place you can get a privacy screen protector for your curve. Ive looked about every where but the only thing i can find is the 8800. And if i get that will it fit?

  • This is a very nice phone and a perfect phone to do urs job never hang so i give 100% to this phone

  • this phone is sooo cool i need me one of those but their expensive! i'll buy mine when the price goes down ...lol

  • Has anyone experienced the "Camera Freeze" on this 8300? When I choose to use the camera the 8300 just freezes with a black screen. I have to reset the battery to get it working again... Thanks, CJH

  • Hi all, I am with a small business and currently use laptop and USB adaptor to get emails from a pop 3 server. I have a great phone already but want a good device for emails on the move rather than booting up the laptop frequently. I get 20-30 emails a day about 20% of which have attachments (Word, Excel, PDF etc), but I can generally wait to get back to base to get these if needed. Overall would you recommend the 8300? Advice appreciated...

  • Features doesn't show document viewer. Is it downloadable?

  • To vikesh jain ... I am almost 100 poitive that Curve and 8800 ahve the same size screen. you can compare them side by side on this website. Open the curve review, click on compare (right uner the phone pic) then choose the BalckBerry 8800 that you want to compare it with. You can compare alll the specs. Cheers

  • i am new to this phone but these questions are for adam... can you pls tell me what is the processor speed? does the phone hang when switching from one page to another during surfing? thanks...

  • can anyone please tell me that black berry 8800 screen is bigger or blackberry curve 8300 is bigger. please anyone, help me in this context.

  • umm jus got it... WHYYY can't i make any videos?! only damn pictures is this possible... a camera fone that u can't film with?!?!?!

  • Hey guys, anyone know if you can record your voice notes on this? It's just that I don't want to carry a digital recorder & 8300 at the same time. Many thanks...

  • Go into settings and under Screen/Keyboard. There is a setting for Trackball sensitivity.

  • The only thing I don't like about the phone is the track ball it jumps around to much the palm 700 phone is what I currently use and the navigation is much easier to use. This phone might be next phone I buy since palm can not get there act together and install a built in flash for the camera. TOO BAD for Palm.

  • Got mine 3 days ago and i have to say i am impressed, i was amazed at how easy it was to get my email up and running, it literally just asked for my address and password and does the rest itself and was working in under 20 minutes. As for being able to view documents, i got an email today with a word attachment and it opened it with no questions asked, also sent myself a pdf and that words again with no questions asked. I love the maps feature and also google maps works brilliantly on here, blackberry messenger although very basic in looks is a great tool to have and communicate with. The Camera is alot better than i expected and i like that you can use the whole screen as the viewfinder. Before this i had a Nokia N91 and found the email system on there very frustrating as well as gettin the wifi to work and it crashing and losing all my contacts, now wih my curve it just works, granted there is no wifi but i have had no problems with speed etc accessing email or the internet, this is a great tool to have and works really well, i am yet to find a fault with it except maybe that you can find yourself playin with it for ages! One other cool thing is that it comes with a holster and when you put the blackberry in it automatically senses that its in the holster and turns the screen off straght away and activates the holster profile which you can change as you wish, meaning without you doing anything when you put it in your pocket it will switch to vibrate whilst when out of its case it will ring loud without any changes being made by me, the same happens when you remove it from the holster, the screen comes on and it wakes up by itself. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone, the interface is a bit tricky to start with but after a day or two you can do most things without thinking about it and as for the build quality, i like it, it feels good in my hand is light but no too light, the buttnos are perfect and the trackball is a great idea, a GREAT phone!!

  • does this particular model have document viewer for word, excel, powerepoint and adobe PDF?

  • can curve record video ? or only still? how

  • In reponse to the question "can calls be recorded" the answer is conventionaly no. But there is most likely some thirdparty software that could do it... i recommend www.handango.com they have some great software but its not free, or you could go through the posts on www.pinstack.com to try and find something. Also i recommend that you get a memory card for this as the ammount of memory on the hs is limited for this sort of thing.

  • REgarding the dropped calls, we recently depolyed 8300/8100, we have some 8300 dropping calls and we are just replacing them. I did notice that the problems seem prevailant on the Hungarian handsets, the Canadian handsets have not had any issues . . yet, Can those who are experiencing dropped calls checn the country of manufacture and post. thanks

  • to the guy that asked about the wheel, its trackball operated....see the ball in the middle just like the pearl and 8800

  • I saw the BB Curve in the showroom today. I feel the finish of the phone is not upto the mark. The quality of plastic is bad. BB 8800 finish is much better to the curve

  • A request to the existing user: Can anyone tell , if we can record our calls or any normal business conversation using BB curve.

  • please advise about downloading software like quick office, bb pearl 8100 opens files but its not possible to edit the files, is this feature available to bb curve 8300? thanks

  • Does the CURVE have traditional blackberry type scrolling at the side with the wheel? If it does not, is it easy to maneuver through your phone with one hand?

  • Great phone, email is robust very reliable and straight to the handset, you can take a good quality picture and email it straight to your friends or work etc.. voice dialling is very useful just press the button on the side of the phone, say the command call, say the name, then say the location (mobile, home, work etc..) then the phone will dial for you, no setting up or voice training, fantastic. Google talk/mail is very good and free on the blacberry tarrif. Media is great although you have to watch the files that you convert to the phone as it has limits, still good overall. The phone is also very small for a bb. Battery gives a good days usage and handsfree calling is high quality. This phone does everything I need for business and keeps me entertained and in touch with my mates all within my airtime contract, I get 900 free anytime minutes to landline or mobiles, 50 texts, unlimited bb up to 75MB per month (fair usage policy) all for 30 per month. Well happy.

  • Does anyone know if this phone has any type of document viewer? If not do you know any good phones that do?

  • does anyone know if you can stream video on this? ex. (You Tube)..i doubt it but just askin ???

  • very beautifull phone with a sharpe brane i think now one can do work and enjoy this phone in his ledger time. Black berry is a class phone for Class people

  • Does anyone know if this can take video as well? If it does, will it be in 3gp or mp4 format? Also, when it rings, is it quiet for the 1st second, THEN comes on loud, or is it loud right from the start?

  • Can someone tell me what are the biggest differences between the curve and pearl other than then full keyboard and larger screen and if it is worth the extra money to buy the curve

  • Can someone tell me what are the biggest differences between the curve and pearl other than then full keyboard and larger screen and if it is worth the extra money to buy the curve

  • Hi I am vivek from india and I got curve two days back and belive me the best phone very good work rim keep it up its worth buying this phone very beautifull designed and good performance I am loving it......

  • You can use Yahoo Mail on there. I have yahoo mail setup on my BIS. All you do is type in your email [email protected] and your password. Unlike with other email like exchange, Yahoo and GMail are both delivered in real time. No waiting 15 minutes. There is even a special icon on your BB for Yahoo Mail. It is rumored that they are working on a way to sync your address book and cal. from yahoo to your BB as well.

  • Again your worng! U imply need to instal software that will push ur hotmail or yahoo to ur pop3 server (Getmail) this will then allow u to receive e-mails from any web based email account

  • BB does have wifi versions specifically designed for instutitions such as hospitals where cell phone signals may interfere with sensitive equipment. Drug information, paging services, patient charts, and emails could still be delivered using wifi. There are rumors of wifi being integrated into consumer versions, however.

  • Hi i am an agent of AT&T and just so you all know it does set up hotmail, yahoo, roadrunner, aol, pretty much any of the basic emails with the blackberry BIS 29.99 service plan.

  • I have the curve and I don't want to give it up!! I am now relocating to Greece where it is not available by the local cariers only the Pearl is and 8700. Nevertheless I want to know if I can use it though in this country for my coprorate email etc..is that possible????

  • Again your wrong, RIM dis not even add POP access, you cannot have your hotmail sent to your bb, nor your yahoo mail (which all POP mail actually runs through) They do offer messaging services from the aformentioned providers. And yes the Pearl and curve have cameras, but liek teh otehr guy said they are for real estate or insurance agents who need a camera, otherwise why wouldnt the 8800 have a camera, it does have gps, why not put in a camera? Thats what testifies to BB business model. 3G also will not make the email arrive faster, teh only advantage that 3G will have for a BB user is that when running GPS it will be smoother otehr then that its pointless, and as for WLAN access, if a business person is in a hotspot they are most likely already on their laptop because if you are honestly that busy of a person you have that access readily avalable to you. Last time i checked it was still easier to do things on a 12inch 1lb laptop then on a handheld of any brand. Stop complaining about Nokia this or 3G that or Wifi This. If RIM wanted to access those markets they would have already, they are one of the most advanced mobile technology compnaies out their who have innovated and changed many things about the industry. They will include Wifi and 3G when they find it will actuallyt add or help their customers, which just isnt now. So stop complaining, if you all love your nokia's so much then just go hang out on that message board!

  • Contrary to what a previous person stated, BB is NOT only for businesses. If it were only for business RIM would not have integrated POP account access. They would have made it so you could only access email with their BB Enterprise Server. The earlier versions were clearly targeted towards business needs but that has changed especially with the Pearl and Curve. The fact that the Pearl and Curve have cameras testifies to this. Most businesses do not need camera phone/pda's. RIM is doing a great job of targeting both segments now if only the Curve had built in WiFi.

  • I cant believe this phone doesnt have WLAN, is it true?

  • read more about BB, it seems they have actually wlan b (in BB web page), but they have a specific work with BB servers (or smth like that), anyway not suitable for not corporate worker or personal use. Pitty, cause looking for personal messenger and can't find suitable.

  • I have an opinion contrary to most here in that I am not part of a business that requires constant email contact. I dont have a data plan either. However I do really like the Blackberry Curve and would reccomend for these reasons: 1. Functionality (ease of use through their menu layouts) 2. Organizing Features (easy to set up and monitor datebook) 3. Keyboard is the best out there. All of these other PDA phones can't duplicate the touch, feel, and spacing of the QWERTY keypad on a BB. Therefore, texting is easy, finding contacts quickly is amazing.

  • to all those dimwitted people out there. BB are ONLY used for business purposes. RIM promotes their products specifically for those who are always on the move and for those who need to keep in constant contact with their co-workers/superiors. The main reason why they havent integrated wifi into their BB handhelds is because they have their BB servers. If you were to compare receiving an email through wifi and their BB server you will see a BIG difference in speed of both response and sending. Their BB server is a dedicated system that is only used for emailing purposes. 3G is not necessary for BB because they arent useful and they would drain necessary batter life for those who only use it for its soul purpose...EMAILING. Now the curve is marketed mainly for insurance brokers or real estate agents who are looking to take pictures of houses and send them through email. The 8800 is for people who are in offices or who travel. All these extra features only down grades a BB from its main purpose. No reason to get a BB if you arent going to use its main features.

  • I have a 7200t blackberry and whenever its on it looses network and brings something like"Reset error 411".And another thing is that wen i insert the card it keeps going on and off .so i dont know what to do.Please advise me accordingly. How much is a 8300? Thank you.

  • but what the *bunny is wrong with nowadays communicators.. why can't be integrated wlan in every single phone? is it such an expensive technology? 4me this 1 is worthless.. no progress since older BB phones.. of course there is a niche with such a phone, like niche for nokiaE60 - without a camera, but for gods sake.. such a phone + wlan and progress progress.. gps, sat radio, breath taster, thermometer and other.. o just let's stay with old communicators/symbian phones..

  • Daniel the reason why it keeps dropping calls is most likely due to teh fact that it is not being used on teh carrier it was programed for. Unfortunatly smart phones like BB, treos, and other Windows based devices they are intricatly programed through and through for their network. Your best bet is to contact a Tmobile tech person and go through and make sure all your connection settings are correct. How teh balckberry works if there is something wrong woth data connectiosn or things like that it will affect your ability to make calls with the device

  • Gramaloke...RIM will soon launch an application allowing you to have Windows mobile on your BB; just the same as you can have the BB application on your Windows mobile. As RIM still has many loyal customers, and with Windows mobile gaining the market more and more, both players want to stay in the game just as much; the customers will have the choice: a BB with WM for different applications, when needed, OR a WM device with BB applications, again, when needed. Isn't this amazing...?

  • Ummm, in response to the question below. BB's don't ever come with Windows.

  • I would like to know which model of black berry is de best. I want it to have windows, mp3, camera, etc...

  • This unit does NOT have a GPS receiver, it only has the blackberry maps aplication.

  • hi, i got the 8300 AT&T unlocked and im using it with tmobile, although its a quadband phone i am getting so many dropped calls what should i do to change the band selection on it? or any other suggestions? please help! thx

  • adil, in answer to your question is yes it does have ad gps receiver as well does the Blackberry 8800.... but the blackberry gps works properly unlike certain other manufacturers and you dont get hit with massive GPRS charges.

  • Does it have a document viewer?

  • it says that this phone has blackberry maps, does that mean that it has a built in GPS receiver like the 8800, or does it mean that it just has random maps like the 8100?

  • I have been waiting for this phone to be launched for over a year. Now that i finally have it i must say i am impressed. So far its been very reliable and call quality is very good. features are great and the only thing that i can think it lacks is a full motion video camera but the 2meg pix camera with flash is more that satisfactory. The thumb wheel took some getting used to after using a thumb wheel for years but now im used to it. All in all i am very impressed especially with the media player, the amazing LCD screen and the keyboard.

  • Just a reminder to all of you complaining about teh phones features...this phone isnt marketed towards you..it is marked to the worlds businesss ppl, ones who need to read their email in three seconds and dont need to listen to the radio or take pictures..in reality 3G isnt going to make a difference for the ppl who are actually using this phone. Many are still using old versions of blackberry's because OF the lack of crap stuffed inside them. If you want 3G, wifi, radio, 22mp camera then go buy a damn nokia, RIM wants you to thats why they created Blackberry connect for Nokia smartphones! On another note I had the pearl and just switched to the curve and they are basically teh exact same phone the only real noticable difference is the keyboard, the camera seems a little less focused then the one on the pearl. However the speakerphone and audio level during video playback is much louder and clearer. If you are debating whether to get teh pearl or curve it is as simple as what keyboard style do you want. The curve will feel noticable in your pocket but still feels about teh same as the pearl in your hand.

  • Thanks to the feedback. Has anyone who has both the Blackberry Pearl and the Blackberry Curve 8300 noticed that the Curve is not as reliable as a phone to receive incoming calls? I have read that the Pearl is a very solid phone- do you think that the Curve matches up in that area? Thanks Emma

  • Unless you're getting a really good deal on this phone, opt for the E61i. It has a better battery life, wifi, 3G, and a wonderful keyboard. No click wheel, but it's world's better for business than a blackberry.

  • This phone is good and I feel that this black berry will going to regain its position regarding camera mobile !!!!!!!!!!keep going bb

  • Hi there I am debating whether to buy a Blackberry Curve or a Blackberry Pearl and I wondered if anyone knew if the Curve will be less reliable as a PHONE then the Pearl? I love the idea of a bigger screen but if there is more chance of a dropped call with the Curve I will get the Pearl. Thanks, Emma

  • dont you all get that this isnt a replacement to the pearl? god everyone's like is it updated yada yada but no it isnt it really is just the pearl with a little more pizzaz and like all of the blackberry phones they make a small suretype version and they make the full form exact phone pretty much everytime.

  • in response to the comment below - why would you want touchscreen and an fm radio? it is a phone/email device for business use. if i wanted an fm radio - i'd buy a radio. if i wanted a touchscreen device - i'd buy a pda. i agree on the lack of 3G support. but i have not found a device that is comparable in reliability for email than the Blackberry devices. ---------------------------------- Sreiously pathetic!!! No 3G!? No touchscreen. No FM radio!!!!

  • hi people is it possible to use msn instant messaging on the blackberry 8300 curve if it is how do you do it???

  • Got it this morning and i am in love with it has every thing that one would need, i have used almost all the blackberry hand helds for nextel and GSM but i think after pearl this is really great..the key board is nice and the bigger screen is for sure a + point.

  • Sreiously pathetic!!! No 3G!? No touchscreen. No FM radio!!!!

  • I have owned a treo forthe past 5 yrs. I'm now switching to BB Curve and hope I'm not making a mistake. I did like the look and feel and will miss the touch screen of my old phone, but I've been told that I'll get over that and appreciate the reliability of this new version on BB. I'll see ans let you know. shard

  • okay, so i found this pick of 3 different blackberrys with full keyboards and trackballs. left: blackberry 8800 right: blackberry 8300 curve middle: ???; maybe the blackberry 9000?

  • another good looking device from RIM...however, the camera is not the best you can get on the market, and the question remains: why the camera, as this device is supposed to target the corporate market? I'm using a 8700r and honestly, i'm not really impressed with anything RIM came out with after this model.

  • im getting the curve. love the better screen resolution and tweaked the media player. its a winner. go curve. pearl is still nice but im still going curve

  • Using a Pearl now. Have an 8300 in to test. Not overly impressed. Keyboard is much nicer, but not as bright a screen, less on-board memory than the Pearl and a cheaper plastic look to the Curve are all negatives. Pearl's camera in my opinion was also better and viewfinder was bright enough to see on the Pearl. In short, as much as I was wanting the Curve, I'm keeping the Pearl. Just a more solid phone.

  • as much as i was looking forward to this phone i may still keep my pearl. been playing with it all day and the media feature is ok at best. still cant full screen videos to well, and i kinda miss sure type. screen is a lot better and the OS is a bit better too. but if i cant get the media player working well, to hell with it ill keep my pearl.

  • Lol to Ivan - the Curve doesnt have video recording capability!!!! Should of done your homework 1st!!

  • Plzzzzzzzz... can anybody tell me that if this hand set have any enhanced feature of attachment viewing or the same as in 8800

  • I bought my 8300 this morning on Cingular's website for $199 with free shipping and I should get it tuesday. I'm concerned I will miss the trackwheel, but I welcome the Camera. many bra-less hot women in the NYC subways in the summer time, I need to make some videos bad!!!!

  • Saw one yesterday at AT&T... only a little wider than the Pearl, but so much better with a bigger screen and a very well designed keyboard. I think the best thing about the phone is the standard 3.5mm headphone jack on the top corner of it and the inclusion of stereo earbuds in the box. Thank God somebody is starting to think...

  • The deal-breaker for me was the fact that there's no GPS on this thing. I'm addicted to my Telenav, and having to purchase an external GPS receiver to use it with the Curve is a no-go.

  • saw my blackberry rep (i work for att) held the curve today and feels awsome in the hand. keyboard is a lot better then the 8800. i cant wait to get 1. bb for ever

  • to george, windows mobile is a fairly unstable OS. while it can handle 3rd party apps, it crashes far more frequently then blakcberries. also blackberrys run the push email system far better then good link and windows mobile touch screens are faulty. i have seen then stop working for no reason several times. blackberry all the way

  • All I really care about is the tereo blutooth. This is a huge advantage to this phone if you ask me. I have been carrying around an iPod and my phone. This is going to be more convienent!!

  • Been trying this out this week and I'M NOT REALLY CONVINCED, it is an improvement on the pearl, but saying that I still wouldn't acctually pay for this thing, should be free to all tariffs over 20 quid if you ask me, save your money and just get another hand set for nowt, it's nothing special

  • Orange will not be getting the Curve - 100%

  • I'm going to the launch event June 14. Can't wait. It looks like the replacement of my pearl

  • its a great phone, the o2 store 134 oxford street have loads of the in stock

  • Wait for the 9000 series at the end of this year,it will have everything on it.

  • i heard that there was gonna be a version of this blackberry called a 8320 that has wifi...thatll be good.

  • d fone is nice bt how much is it fr.................

  • I'm happy that they put a camera on this device it makes things easy for us real estate agents....

  • Damit! I just picked up the 8800... what do I do when this thing comes out! AAARRGG~~~

  • you guys dont seem to understand... BBs are targeted towards businesses... not regular average joe... the BB is for the exec person and managers therefore, most if not all companys dont allow cameras for copyright and forgery(sp?) reasons... get over yourselfs and accept that the BB if for the business person not someone that wants it all in a phone. the BB has the most stable OS out there. i have owned both symbian and windows os phones/pdas and all they do is crash, freeze or something... i now have a BB and have never once had to restart or pull the battery because of a freeze or restart... like i said if you want a phone with a mp3 player or/and camera go elsewhere, these PDAs/phones are for the businesses! get used to it...

  • NICE, cant wait to get this i have the pearl right now, umm but this just looks great equiped with the 2MP camera ill be ready, lookin forward to it, great call blackberry

  • blackbarry is a sign of rich look nothin else. A phone which dont have wi-fi and dont have 3g is not payeble for much money

  • Blackberry is going to keep wifi off of their phones as long as people are dumb enough to pay for the data packages that are offered with Cell Phone providers like Cingular (now ATT). They put a 2 megapixel because that's what they can get away with now....1.3 and it would have been a joke. In a year, every mid-priced phone will have 3.2 and high end phones will have 4 and 5 megapixels. Blackberries will put wifi once people stop buying them because they don't have wifi....plain and simple.

  • The reason we need wifi in the blackberry is simply because we live in asia, where companies are very cheaply give away their employee wifi access (well at least my company). If have to choose, I my self prefer wifi than 3g cause what else? cheaper (payless) communication through wifi. But I don't you guys who live in US or Europe. Glad to be asian ;)

  • can some1 explain this to me? why do you guys want wifi on a berry? the internet isnt that slow and with the push email how would wifi be any different unless you live at starbucks. i mean i clock this phones internet against blackjacks and other 3g windows mobile phones and sites load up pretty evenly. 3g would be cool but to this day wifi makes no sense to me on this device. on the other hand, id kill for a 16 million color nokia screen on this and a 5mp camera with sony software bc the camera on the pearl made me happier using a vga camera. anyway, id get this phone bc berry is the most reliable ever. nokia in close second. they email and do it well. i guess will work out in time nite

  • Switch to Windows Mobile? You must be kidding...I'd rather use an old Sharp Wizard from 1992.

  • I have been using the 8700 for a while now and in between have purchased the sgh-i600, the HTC Mteor, T-Mobile Dash, The Nokia E61 and a hell of a lot more, I still land up going back to my BBerry. Why? simple...its still the best messaging system out there and without a doubt an incredible handheld. I travel extensively and would have loved a BBerry with a intergrated camera and voila - its here finally. No need for me to now carry a second mobile device so i can take pictures (I am in the fashion business) and email my office on the move. The 2mb is sufficient in the curve but would have prefered a 3.2 but it will come. The issue of wifi (the lack thereof) is no major issue as the gprs/edge is sufficient and with the data packages offered by T-Mobile I do not mind the extra few seconds transmitting via gprs/edge as against 3g or even hsdpa. the ultimate phone does not exist and the more performance and option you get, it comes with a price and that's battery performance or the lack thereof. So for now i will wait patiently for the day that someone out there sorts the power issue out. the day will come...and in my lifetime! hopefully.

  • Can this blackberry pay mp3...can you upload them from your computer?

  • i think this blackberry is a step ahead lookin at the Xtra addition of da 2.0 megapixel !

  • I'm still not convinced...

  • Again one more BlackBerry !? Still fat and ugly..

  • Looks like a classy bit of kit Wifi and 3g are battery hogs and aren't necessary for what this phone is about.

  • Was playing with one of thesee yesterday (honestly). Seems like more silly hybridising. That problem someone else had with not being allowed to use a cameraphone at work seems like it could be fairly widespread, and i reckon some connectivity would be more useful in a blackberry than a camera. Still, the nice sales rep guy promised me that they'd have a WiFi model "soon". Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

  • no 3g, no wi-fi, screen no way compared to what is offered by nokia and others, plus the disadvantage of having a camera. i don't know where RIM is going with this...

  • O my God, RIM sitll did not add any WIFI and 3g. We do not need camera for God' sake. And why the hell they take away the GPS! RIM, you guys are out of the league!

  • Where's the 3G? Can RIM at least make the screen resolution better? I was never a Blackberry fan. Looks-wise, this 8300 is ok.

  • I work for Cingular and I'm getting this the day it comes out. I mean, its nothing new over the pearl except the camera and the stereo bt but sure type is getting annoying and I wouldn't mind trying this out. Looks really good. Just wish it had 3g and a Better screen

  • love the look but my company wouldnt let me use it because of the camera

  • Where's the WIFI??? Come on RIM!!

  • Finally a blackberry that every blackberry fan was expecting or at least i was expecting! cant wait to see it in the market!

  • i am SO trading my pearl for this.

  • Another crappy half-breed PDA from blackberry. They should just switch over to Windows Mobile.
