  • I owned this phone for about a year. I like the look and easiness of use but there are enough negative things about this phone that make me wish i hadn't bought it. The volume for the earpiece and the speaker are super low. You really have to listen hard. The internet is super slow. It takes forever for even google.com to show up. There is very little RAM, so running two or more programs at once slows the phone down a great deal. The phone froze as often as a couple times a day where i had to take the battery out and put it back in. If they just fixed these few things, i would love this phone. but with just these few problems, it's enough to not want to use this phone again.

  • they are for sale in an auction on Grays on line for starting bid $125 so you say dont touch.?????

  • only problem i can not download games, tired of bubble breakers and solatire any suggestion

  • Jack or someone else would you give me very clear advice on how to do those 3 steps; indeed instructions for a real dummy? I've been searching for those but get just puzzled. Thanks, T

  • I've had PDA's as far back as the Psion which was a clamshell black and white resolution device. The Glofish X-800 would be my 7th. PDA. I can say I've a bit of experience with these types of devices. To make the story short, the Glofish X-800 is by far the worse phone I have ever owned. Every problem blogers have experienced I have also. I upated the rom for months with no avail, always a new problem with very little and ventualy nil online support. I will never purchase a product from this company again. The worse experience of my life, nothing but frustration.

  • ij

  • hi, did u solve ur email setup problem? if not i can help u. indeed customer services efficiency of whichever tel operator are approximately nul. Write to me a note at [email protected] . Best regards. claude

  • Its not true that X800 is slow. Mine has great performance. Windows mobile is all about the user performance. If you are not technically knowledgable then don't buy any Windows phone. Otherwise I recomend this as everything is just fine. i put tones of software, watch videos, and everything is just cool.

  • How do I send messages. Just can't do it. Even T-mobile can't help. Same problem with the songs. Can't open or play. Is that normal. Pls help P.S where can I buy a card as no one seems to have heard about that phone. Amazing isn't. Can't wait your reply. Thanks

  • dont buy this phone, well now it's a bit old but still you shouldn't have bought it anyway. SLOOOOOOOOOW performance, drives me crazy like no other phone I've had. Wanted to replace it after 2 months of use, tried upgrading the firmware, still too slow. Had everything I wanted therefore I bought it, but the crappy 64 mb memory is just too small to actually run the device normally. No Eten again for me, I'm going for the HTC Touch Diamond 2, SE Idou or Omnia HD now instead. The HTC looks nice, small but still an amazing resolution, hope it's not slow as Eten, it DOES run Windows mobile, so maybe it'll be slow too :o(

  • how can exit the align screen window

  • I bet every phone has their own special function. There are camera-phone, sms phone, music express phone and I feel x800 is fix for me as a teacher.I can at least store my data, timetable, notes and etc. Of course, you'll hv to sitdown sometime to do your things. just wanna ask the ETEN co, to keep up with the after SALE service. If u can solve half of the customers is good enough. Keep up.

  • I have owned an x800 for over six months and quite frankly it drives me crazy. Because of the processor used the phone is extremely slow on startup which means usually you miss incoming calls unless you use a bluetooth headset. When using the phone for other functions it gets better after running for awhile and the GPS is outstanding. I have tried some of the internet tweaks and trimmed out functions but am still unhappy with the speed. Being a businessman and not a programmer I expect an expensive tool like this to work, right out of the box. Maybe I am expecting too much. The support is nonexistent and the camera is of very poor quality. Buy something else.

  • No that is not normal. Mine runs for days, with use, before needing a recharge. Averagely, 4 days with heavy use (calls). Standby mode could last over a week. GSM usage runs the battery out quickly, say 5 hours, depending.

  • main problem is the battery i have torecharge every 6-8 h is that normal with x800

  • I want to buy an x800. i see here many negative and also many positive opinions. i'm not very sure what to do: buy it or not! someone said that the WiFi is not good, another one said that the telephone is not good and the list may continue... can anyone by objective about it and give me correct opinion?

  • ALexis, latest version WWE is 473. Stable, pretty fast.Works OK. Check out the eten-users forum

  • Guys I have searched for the new ROM so I could solve my problems but when i downloaded it, is says that i need the euu file (EUU_X800_XXX_A42_040_0402_XP.EXE (XXX stand for language version). Can anyone tell me where i can find this file please?

  • guys.. go to here..

  • Slow response to touch screen. poor battery performance, no shut down function as amny PDA phone, Think twice before buy eten. I prefer Asus, HTC instead of eten. I I will trade in as soon as possible.

  • Think twice, before decide for any ETEN!! Mine X800 has to be repaired under waranty and Eten wants, that I send it on MY expences to Taiwan. In such case I have also in/out (so, twice) EU CUSTOM procedure. If YOU have time... I don't and I'll just trash it.

  • H, what patch or firmware did you install? I have also a Glofiish X800 Thx

  • I am owner of Glofiish X800 and I am very satisfied. I wished to buy iPhone 3G but no support Greek language so I decided X800. It has many features.

  • How many hours(days) it stays in standby?

  • After 7 monthes of happy use, I got screen problems - screen was less and less aligned every day. Especialy in the middle part: if I touch it there, it behaves as it was touched somwhere else. No way to draw a line. I was reading forums and find out that meny people are complaining for the same fault. I bought my X800 (earlier also X500) over web from Eten Budapest-Hungary. But they don't sell Eten any more and they dont want to tell about service or hear about waranty. Ignoring. I wrote to Eten factory (att pics of screen), asking for advice or official service adr in EU. In three days they were not able to send any reply. I don't know what to do now. I did reload "ROM" with no beter result. If you have some advice, please, write me [email protected]. Thank you.

  • Excellent PDA - except screen outdoors. Crap phone. GSM coverage very poor. WiFi coverage useless. My daughter has an iPhone and the WiFi works everywhere in the house. The X800 is very fussy about WiFi. Needs re-setting about once a day - and no calls will be received while it's frozen.

  • man shearch "iGO.2006.Plus" work excelent to x800 but only Europa and USA

  • igo 08 torrent

  • Hey, Can someone tell me from where can i get the GPS maps & the software. I tried Copilot but its not working on the X800. Pls let me know Other than that the phon if gr8 cheers.

  • you can turn it off to standby.. but not completly off. if you wanna do a restart press the off key and then stick the pen into the little hole on the left side and it restarts. :D

  • well i had mine i the sun right now. just like any other screen lol. cant see that much whats going on

  • Hello. I'm curious how X800 screen performs in bright sunlight. Does it remain readable? Opinions vary, and I'm quite confused... I'm about to buy the device, and this feature is very important to me. Thanks for any info.

  • Maybe you should try a ROM upgrade. After that it works excellent!

  • you can't shut down X800, i,ve asked and i've been told that all E-ten models don't have the option shut down. The only you can do is to pull out the battery after you disable all comunications (Wireless manager => all off).

  • I have the same problem- I don't know how to shut down X800, but the telephone is very good:)

  • My overall experience has been good. As some have mentioned, the phone is "finicky" and a soft reset is occasionally required. However, all of my previous WM devices needed a soft reset every now and then. I flashed my ROM to WM 6.1 and it's been fairly stable. The VGA screen is nice when I watch movies or videos. Having used both HTC and Eten devices, I would still lean towards HTC as having slightly better quality.

  • One of the worst phone that I have ever come across. Missed lot of important phone calls because of the frequent freezing. Not recommended at all.

  • Well - The 3 main "issues" I had with the phone have been corrected on this unit, and now it's just great: 1. Slow - new firmware fixed that 2. High CPU usage when using Touch - Fixed w/patch 3. Sound problems - fixed with w/patch So starting from a sluggish phone - it have become a real pleasure to work with - but of course, like a lot of stuff - the experience "out of the box" isn't smooth - but, a bit of footwork will eventually get you there.

  • I just forgot some other thoughts about it. It's beautiful but not gorgeous, the design and the keys are good enought, so you wont be pissed of or angry at it while using it. The screen is the best screen I have seen, even comparing it to Iphone and PSP. The sound is a little low, but you have a fix for it in ETEN USERS forum too. The processor is very fast and with 3rd party apps like Core Player 1.2.2 and Igo for GPS it can play videos perfectly (although not full res 640x480, it lacks just a little punch, skipping some frames, but 320x240 already looks marvellous) and use GPS really fast. Again, if you don't want to change anything in a device, get HTC cruise, if you a re willing to try something and change it to your way, get this, it's better. The battery is fine, I'm a heavy user and it lasts for 2 days with this use, not like a SonyEricsson 5 days, but for this kind of device, it is very good. P.S: Update the (GSM radio) better reception (which was already good), and better speeds in 3g (which where so-so before it)

  • I have this phone and I must say that it is not for the normal person. I'm a geek and AFTER the CHANGES you can do to it, it is WAY BETTER than any HTC even the cruise. The way ti comes from ETEN it is overloaded with apps you will never need, if you look at the forums of ETEN USERS you'll find the fix for the slowdown when you touch the screen, and new ROMS for it. The screen touch fix is the best thing for this phone, makes it way faster than any HTC I have ever used (several, since I work for a mobile operator). The new roms are really good, and clean without all the crap Eten throws at you. Doing that I'm very pleased with this device and won't change it for nothing else on the market today. If you can't or wont change ROMS or install fixes, run from this phone, if you do it, I can't recommend anything else.

  • Overall I like this phone. I don't have a lot of 3rd party apps on it so it runs ok. I do find it somewhat slow. As a negative, the phone is finicky and I sometimes have to do a soft reset. But I find all the WM phones that I've owned, I've had to do a soft reset every now and then.

  • does anyone know if the eten glofiish can support a 6 gb or 8 gb memory card?

  • well, is a good phone, but eten always have problems whit the quality of their products, better buy an htc, you will be shure you are buying a quality piece

  • but is it a good phone?

  • When i play some game like TombRaider in X800 i find some screen problems... When i press onscreen buttons in that game the the screen just shakes like it's working slower..in other phones like HTC i don't find that problem. Can anybody help me finding out the solution plz..

  • Does anybody know whether X800 has a complete switch off button or ways? I know if u press switch off button device screen is off... But i need to switch it off completely without removing battery... Plz

  • Bought this phone kept it for a day and returned it a day letter. Too slow and freezes, reminds me of imate phones. Anyone reading this please tell me why would anyone buy this phone when you have the option of the htc cruise.

  • it seems the joystick that sticks out is a failure. a similar feature to the newer phones would have been more appropriate, and the lack of comment on battery life is a drawback, indicating a short battery life. otherwise, i would have bought this phone.

  • I own 5 PPC's including this one. This is the slowest one that I have. Even slower from a 4 years old I-mate. It cannot open more than 2 applications and it is very often needs a hard reset. Sound quality is poor. Recmmended only for guys with strong nerves...

  • This is my 3rd PPC phone that i've owned and a first for the 3G/HSDPA handset. On first look, i quite like the look of it. I wouldnt say its ugly at all. A few people have said that its Slow yes indeed that its slow but your not on it like a computer. I've managed to delete pretty much all the Eten Software that came with the phone which made it a little bit faster. I just left the main ones such as Video Call, etc, etc. My conclusion, i quite like it especially the GPS (I use it with TomTom 6) Nice design, and looks to be quite solid. As for the mp3 sms notification, Nope it cant be done. Only Supported files are WMA/WAV and more. Just copy the clip to the Windows folder on the Unit, Then select the tone via sounds/notification. JOHN

  • I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you can change the message tone? I know you can change the ringtone to an mp3, but can you change the message tone to an mp3?

  • The I-mate is a piece of brick!!! 18mm thick only 2.8 inch screen and 3MP camera - huge with outdated features - are you kidding? There are at least 5 phones better and smaller - but I guess you work for.....

  • If u all are so pissed up, maybe u should sell u're units and wait for the i-mate 9502. I has everithing, VGA, qwerty, 128 ram, good cpu, etc...

  • Too slow, too buggy - - I really think ETEN cant fix all problems with the next version (X900?) Obviously, the X800 is totally f... up unit. It had great potentials but as time went by ETEN failed to address the problems and the meantime iphone, samsung, etc came out or just about to come out with WORKING units. it is a shame.

  • Another video:

  • This is some dude on YouTube showing you how the phone works and what it comes with:

  • stay the hell away from this phone! it doesn't do hsdpa 850/1900 and e-ten doesn't give a damn! you will only get crappy umts speed on 850/1900 band even the phone "says" it is accessing hsdpa!!! stay the hell away from this!!!

  • Hya, actually i m searching to buy a pda with good specs like including GPS, windows Professional 6,and durable one with good ROM,RAM n processor.I was thinking in between HTC TYTN II or ETEN glofish X800, a bit confused now,can anyone guide me which one is better..or if anyone can tell me any better deal than these two...i ll be really thankful... Regards

  • Hi , I got an X800 Eten just second week of january 2008, I am not usre if I need to update the ROM or not, could some one help me to find it out?, thanks Adolfo.

  • Its my 3 post here.I have a X800. As i already told the X800 speed somethimes is slow and other times is very good. I dont know ho to blame, if the ETEN teck or Bill Gates. Even when i shut down the programs it continues to be slow. The only thim that cures that is to do a reset on the phone (the litle button on the left). Somethimes when iam in a phone call the speaker sound really messy, and other times is ok, werd. And the camera is to forget. I tryed to take some pictures with it at this cristmas and it was a big shi****. I tryed to upgrade the software from eten site, but when i register me on the site i made a mistake and register the x800 to be on portuguese software. But it is on english. For that reason i cant do the download of the software upgrade. I have email eten for that. And received 2 responses form a chinese guy. I know my english is bad, but that guy is a dum ***. So the support suck as hell. Hope i help you.

  • To answer the question of "Can I turn off the phone without removing the battery?" Yes and No :) Yes, you can RESTART it by pushing the reset button on the left side of the phone. It is under the voice command button. You can only reach it with your styles. NO, you cannot SHUTDOWN the phone without removing the battery, but instead you can turn off GSM/WIFI/BT from your wireless manager, which is as good as having the phone shutoff. I found this to be a good feature since I can stop all incoming calls and prety much put the phone offline while still being able to use the windows applications.

  • The phone is good and it provides features that do not exist in other phones (at once). For the slowness, this usually a memory issue. he application do not get shutdown when you hit the x button. This is an intentional feature to allow you browsing and opening multiple application. when you feel the phone is slow, hit the RAM icon at the bottom and it will give you a list of all the open applications, close the ones you don't need. I have had the phone for a couple of months now and it works great. Yes it is lower performance level than some other phones, but it does provide so much more the other phones.

  • I got a X800 for a few days. It was not able to read SDHC but after I download the update OS X800_CHT_A42_040_0402 from www.eten.com.tw (for registered user), my 4GB SDHC is OK. But the speed/response is slow sometimes, especially when I use GPS and IE and need reboot, but this take long time to restart from soft reset. Hope someone share any way to improve the speed. Danny

  • STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!!!! I have warned you and I do it again! TOO many bugs. Do not reward companies which release half ready product on your expense! IT will take at least a year to make this phone usable.

  • Did anybody buy the X800 in US TRONICS?? Is it locked or unlocked?? In their web site they do not say that it is unlocked, so I am afraid to buy it from them. Thanks in advance. Mauro

  • I got my first x800 a week ago 30/11/07. Could not sent SMS, read forums on buying a new latest sim which would solve the problem. Before buying a new sim and 5 days after getting the phone my x800 crashed and could not pass the second screen (windows mobile). I went it back to get a new x800 (6/12/07). This time my old(1yr sim) was working fine and the phone would sent SMS without problems!!!! Two days after getting the new phone , it crashed also. This time it could boot fine without the battery but with the battery on it would give the same problem as the first one. Crash after windows mobile screen. All in all I love the design and preferred this phone due to the large screen. still the 64mb ram are very limitted! Consider to keep AWAY from this phone for the time being! Both phones crashed while they were disconnected from the charging device!! Building electricity had nothing to do with the phone.MAybe problematic batteries!?!? Anyway today 10/12 I returned the second new phone to be checked by the customer service of PLAISIO computers Greece. No news yet

  • is there hsdpa or no ???? thats alfa and omega for me..thank u

  • Its me again. Update on my opinion on X800.i had problems with the speed on the x800 because e let it turn on for several days. Now i turn it of at night. And its perfect now. And TOMTOM 6 works perfect.

  • use for the SDHC cards using 6 Gb MIcroSD w/o pb now. convert with pocketDVDconvert for good movie quality, takes some time but quality is perfect (did not overclock)

  • HI. I finally have my 1st pocket pc. And its x800 eten. Here it is my obs: - If you dont install anything, the phone is great. work just great, - VGA is very cool but dont try to see movies on it, too slow; - in some aplications you can see the processor is slow. But a friend of mine as a HTC and i think the slow its the same. Hoppe the next generation processors would be faster, this one just cant suport VGA :( ; so it as vga but just to internet and menus; Dont aspect mutch of this phone in term of velocity. I have bought, iam happy but i dont need a loot of things on it. A good calendar, email sincro, pdf and word reader, and for me its ok. Hope i coudl help any of you. Thank

  • Dont do update after bugs - do QA before selling the product! TOO MANY BUGS, FALSE SPECIFICATION!!!!!

  • Good GPS, size, price, and VGA screen. There were some bugs, but Eten try best to update the new ROM, X800 will be more better than before with new ROM, I feel good about this device.

  • Great specs, good size anfd nice screen! BUT, too many bugs!!!!! No HSDPA support!!! Incorrect specifications given and posted everywhere. Very poor quality control. By he time if ever this unit becomes relatively reliable it will be outdated. Sorry because it is probably the best on paper right now.

  • OK in light of the responses No Soup for you bye bye Eten

  • There is no dialing buttons. No SKYPE. And some bugs! I was intended to buy it, gave up after learning more.

  • NO HSPDA SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!! incorrect specification given!

  • So in answer to my questions...??

  • The X800 has got bad press from forums like this by people who don't know how to use and troubleshoot devices. As laid out on the eten-users.eu forum, one simple tweak (increasing font cache size) dramatically improves performance of this device. The VGA screen is gorgeous, it has run everything I want it to run, and all functions work flawlessly. I don't have all the random reboots, network issues, etc. that everyone else seems to have. I think they either got the phone from an unreliable seller or just don't know much about technology.

  • So far so good . I love this phone so much . GPS and FM work very fast sometime you have to reset the phone because not enough memory If you like to turn off the phone you have to turn off GSM network first I don't problem turn my phone off

  • I guess few people bought this device, there are few detailed reviews. Glofiish as name is absolutely not attractive for westerns, they should change the name and the case design, in rest it should be fine as set of features.

  • I'm very tempted by this device, but I wonder if anyone who has the deveice could answer a few questions that I have seen posted elsewhere: 1-Is it correct that you cannot actually turn off the device withouth removing the battery and the power button only puts it into "hibernate" mode? 2-Ive seen quite a few other posts suggesting that this, contrary to advertising, doesn't properly support HSDPA browsing Speeds-is this correct? 3- I have read the manual online (yes that is sad!) to see the device details and it looks like the phone charges via a charging cradle type device, I assume that this means the device does not have a mini USB socket-does it? 4-Does the GPS contain maps-if so, what regions are covered? Thanks

  • so the thing is there is a better phone. I-mate 6150.. it has got everything this thing has but better. the only thing which i not there is gps.. which technicaly doesn't work on this toy either..

  • Go to www.eten-users.eu You will find everything you need , including the sdhc patch

  • There should be a patch for HCSD cards up to 8Gb wich worked fine for the Glofiish X500 and X500+. Not sure it works for the X800.

  • 6GB MicroSDHC or 8GB MicroSDHC I try to buy this type of memory but not sure it support X800 . please help Thanks

  • x800 support 6gb microsdhc anyone know please post

  • BTW, have you checked the main Eten's website??? Check before post ridiculous opinions like that!!

  • No, X800 is not on Eten's website because they have made a new one for it..... sigh..... sigh again....

  • Eten doesn't mention about this model on its web site It means that this cell phone has some problems and they aren't sure about its success.

  • Florin -- did you test SDHC cards on your phone ?

  • Let us know if the firmware update solves some of your problems if not all. E-ten always releases its products in Rusia and surrounding countries first. It seems that EU releases are more stable. Let's hope the NA releases are stable as well with the latest firmware. May be this why their original September launch was postponed to October.

  • Bought it In Romania for one week. My ROM version is X800 VER A04 WWE 040 0324(2007/09/28 12:43). It seems that this version has a lot of bugs, many people who have bought it in Romania have the same problem. Anyway there is a new version released by Eten (0363). I'l try it tonight. Hope nothing bad happends.

  • Have you updated your firmware. The latest update is on etencorp. I am not sure (just a speculattion) but it seems that there are some pre-production x800 (buggy) out there and some people are selling them. Where did you get it from?

  • Bought it for one week. Everything ok except the RAM. I tried to use it for navigation but it does not work with Igo, Miomap, neither with TomTom. It says "Memory Full" and crashes. After soft reset I have 20 Mb of RAM but after one day of normal use only 15 Mb (no programs running in the back acording to Task Manager or WisBar Advance). Is there anybody who can help me make this damn thing work? Thanks in advance!

  • what about the joystick? i generally don't like them...always breaking. is this i any better?

  • From usage point of view... the battery seems to last 8-10 hours for internet browsing with wifi. 4-5 hours GPS. Talk time and standby is about to the specs.

  • anybody know what's the battery life of dis handset? y is it not posted?

  • Summary of finding about the x800 - The VGA rendering for the x800 is lightly better than x500+ due to its CPU clock speed. But the CPU is still the same, just overclocked. - No separate video processing allocation. Main CPU does all the work. Watching movies is ok as long as not other programs are running at the same time. - Some owner's review indicates that VGA screen works well and it is still viewable outdoors(fair and better than QVGA). But not too many apps takes advantage of its VGA resolution. Mainly works under the QVGA resolution. - Web browsing and remote PC connection works good under VGA resolutioni. No problems reported here. - RAM is an issue with only 20 to 22MB left after reboot out of box without any other third party S/W installed. Reviews indicate that running multiple applications at the same time (3 or more depending on the application memory consumption) runs into out of memory issues. - Many issues poped after installing the SDHC patch (same patch used for the x500). Device becomes really unstable including shutting down on its own. Install at your own risk type of scenario. - No problems were reported when the x800 is used with all its preinstalled apps. Out of the box performance were Ok as well. - GPS works and performs very good.

  • SDHC supported ? ETEN doesn't reply. Links to a How-to ??

  • I wait in anticipation of this PDA's arrival (expansys - will you please stop teasing me with your website delivery dates). I too have spent many nights reviewing the competition. There is NOTHING offering full VGA, GPS, decent 500 MHZ processor, 3.5G or touch screen at present or imminently. I hope the lack of a keyboard won't be a problem.

  • Oh, .. ok. Thanks! :P Has anyone got any suggestions abot the new "oh my god best phone ever" ? :)

  • More RAM is necessary for multitasking eg if you are browsing while playing music in the background effectively having more than one application open at the same time. If RAM is deficient the device will crash or reboot or applications will sporadically close.

  • So how about my ram question.. Why do we need more than 64mb ram on a pda again?

  • Found this : BSQUARE releases drivers to enable support for SDHC memory cards up to 32 GB Now manufacturers of Windows Mobile phones have no excuse not to support big-size high-capacity cards... because BSQUARE provides full support for them - available now. Link : Supported CPU's : TI OMAP 2430, TI OMAP 850, Marvell PXA270, Marvell PXA3xx and Samsung 2440 ETEN X800 has the Samsung 2440

  • But then again : Is SDHC supported ? When with a patch - (working)link anyone ?

  • Email Syncro with attachments Big Powerpoints Music Collection on the go Movies on the go Never enough Gb's -- 6Gb is available now here in CH - 85 CHF = 70USD = 50 Euro The 8Gb Micro-SD is coming soon.

  • Well tell me my friend.. How much ram is usually used on your x-pda? well i got 50MB on my qtek s110 when playing call of duty 2. WHY do we need more ram? It's just me, simple user..

  • All, I just got this email from SUPERETRADER, looks like that this X-800 phone finally arrived. See the like below. Enjoy it and please let me know what your thought about it if you are the 1st one get it :-)) Best Regards. Important : You are receiving this email as you requested to be informed regarding the release of the new E-TEN X800. At last we have a delivery date for the product! It will here on Monday 29th October and all preorders will be shipped that day for delivery on Tuesday 30th October. We will be the 1st UK supplier with stock!

  • Vitaly, you are entitled to your opinion but the Asus P750 only has 64MB RAM with QVGA res! If one is after a vivid encounter between man and machine you need 128 MB RAM with VGA res. I am pleased that an M800 Eten is imminent but I noticed it only has 64MB RAM. Perhaps they may upgrade it before release. The Eten M800 is the only WM6 device that has a sub three inch screen, full QWERTY with VGA res. So Eten have taken a brave step!

  • Yea by the way can someone tell me does the cheat for sdhc really works?

  • I still think that asus p750 is better. You can type in your pocket, low resolution is not a flaw. quality is not that much worse but the preformance boosts up with a same processor, plus you don't need any hacks to have sdhc cards on it. bluetooth v2.0 not only with edr but with A2D...well whatever that cool stuff was.. so you get the point. and oh yeah the camera is 3mp. don't see that one here. If you are ready to pay about a 120 more dollars for it (maybe 100) and wait another 2 months holding your old phone you hate, wait for this one to come out.

  • Ibrahiem, are you looking for M800? Please refer to the following URL : Have a nice day

  • hey guys .. has anyone bought that phone from mobileplanet.com .. i wanna know more about that cause that handset isnt anywhere online ...

  • James, I have just read your review. It is candid and inspiring. I am very pleased that the battery and processor were able to support the SiRF Star III GPS chipset and the VGA res screen. My only problem is I need a keyboard for fast text entry. I have been patiently waiting and hoping that Eten would announce a slide-out keyboard version of this but it is obvious that it will not happen in the near future. I feel that Eten should have announced a keyboard and keyboardless version simultaneously but this was not the case. At present there is NO slide-out QWERTY WM6 device that has both VGA res screen and integrated GPS. So I am stuck!! It looks like I will have to compromise and go for TyTN II.

  • Yes it has flash and SDHC cards can go up to 32GB. THe biggest available is 6GB by sandisk i think. I have the X500 and with a patch it can support sdhc to. Thats great

  • $679.95 at mobileplanet.com

  • I'm thinking of buyng either htc tytnII or this one, what do you recomend;how big memory cards does this one accept and does it or does it not have camera flash? Thanx a lot for help

  • Guys Any news on Philips SD DVB tuner and its availability? Or any other brand?

  • SDHC might work using a patch. Check here:

  • Yes ,bluetooth v2 supports A2DP and yes it can support SDHC. I have the the X500 , witch it doesnt support SDHC but i've installed an application , and now it can support it :) I cannot wait for the 16gb MicroSDHC's

  • Hi guys, does any body know if Eten X800 supports SD 2.0 (SDHC) and A2DP??. And also is there any SD DVB-H tuner available to buy?

  • Just wanted to make sure that this phone comes unlocked or not please responed ..

  • Google and found this: will be vailable in Sep 12 for $639.95

  • To Stiliancho, You said "it's available already in US about $650", I am just wondering where did you get this info from. I would like to get ome for myself too, if it is for real. Greatly appreciated in advance. Regards.

  • Will Eten produce a version of the X800 that has a full QWERTY keyboard ie the M900? Is the M900 just a rumour? I am looking to buy a high resolution (VGA) WM6 device; but it must have a full QWERTY keyboard. I-mate's Ultimate series seems as if it is never going to come out!!

  • It`s available already in US about $650

  • x800 should be out for sale on Thursday 30 August, 2007

  • is eten pdafone Stability ? i ever bought etenfone, often crash.......

  • i think price cheeper thn d810

  • It seems that Linux guys envy now Microsoft for its success in graphical user interfaces (its billions came from Windows GUI). Now some compilations of Linux (that was made for command line console), like Symbian could compete with Windows Mobile, that was from beginning an OS with GDI? Symbian, Linux of any flavor has no chance in the race with Microsoft for OS oriented on Graphical User Interface. All desktops mobile or not are based on Windows in 90%; thats because Windows is more common and appreciated by large mass of users. The hardware gets cheaper and faster with each year passing, the memory is larger and all these are in the advantage of Windows that needs high power and large memory; the tough points of Symbian like little memory and low processor speed needs get to be useless. Windows Mobile is a way ahead Symbian as integration, functionality and development tools for writing its applications. Nokias hardware is made in the same place, by the same people and with the same components from which there are made the devices based on WM (in Asia, using the same source of chipsets; some chipsets from Nokia are even obsolete comparing to HTC and Eten).

  • 4xkS, it is a defect in Windows Mobile's operating system that makes their processors so clock speed hungry. Symbian phones can achieve the same processing power with lower clock speeds. Look at Nokia's E90: it has an impressive pixel count; way higher than QVGA; and still achieves 16M colours; and yet the processor speed is way lower than a WM device. The latter has imminent devices appearing with VGA screens but that is only half the story. It needs to be coupled with the max colour palette ie 16M for it to be truly effective. Internet, stills, video, require vivid colour representation. It is not good enough to say that 16M will tax the processor. Technicians have to find a way to circumvent this problem otherwise they will be coming up with the same lame excuse for the next ten years!! In 2005 we had WM devices such as O2 Xda Exec with VGA screens and 65K colours. Today they are still at the same place. Conversely Nokia are steaming forward with their vivid 16.7M colour displays. The E90 has now greatly increased the pixel count. The next generation of E and N series Nokias will have VGA or wide-VGA screens coupled with 16.7M colours and WM will be left behind because their screens will look washed out. Symbian phones have a far more flexible OS and are less clock speed hungry. Furthermore 2.6 inch screens and upwards is size enough for anyone with normal vision to easily differentiate 65K from 16M. Many are watching feature films on 2.6 inch screens and enjoying the experience. Remember that business and pleasure go hand in hand and people want it on the SAME device. We should not allow WM to cheat us out of a vivid experience. Their record in terms of multimedia is terrible. Substandard video, substandard stills and substandard screens. Remember these "phones" have become multimedia devices. That is why internet, stills, video, radio, e-mail etc appears in the device. Thus M700, X800 etc can be seen as multimedia devices geared towards business. It is important that a high-end phone has state-of-the-art features. If we complain, the scientists will find a way of improving the device but if we keep mute the manufacturers will treat us as dunces and progress will be slow. If you don't ask you won't receive!!

  • The ETEN X800 uses an ARM9 core processor. HTC Kaiser uses the ARM11 for applications and an ARM9 for communications.

  • The human retina can see a large difference between 65K and 16M but just if you have a larger screen and a good display to reproduce all those 16M, Actually most of LCD can reproduce maximum several hundred thousand hues of colors. Also a larger depth of colors can be useful just for showing pictures; but are you happy to spend the same memory and processing power for 320x240 and 16M on a Nokia with and secret speed processors (probably to low to be advertised) or using a WM with 640x480 and 65K? A WM is not just for entertainment viewing pictures, it is for business, showing charts and working with tables havening many rows and columns. So for that purpose WM with 640x480 and 65K is better than Nokias OS with 320x240 and 16M. BTW you have to have the retina of professional painter to see all 16M. It is all about research in development; it is easy to increase to number of colors in software but is it worth the cost of processing?

  • Looks like a good pda phone. Will most likely get one.

  • Well ShortFuse it looks like in deed you do have a short fuse! The blog in question was written TWO years ago and still WM are stuck on 65K colours mainly because of their refusal to modify the type of screen they use. None of the recommendations the writer made have been implemented and it strongly suggests a lazy attitude. Conversely companies such as Nokia have reached maximum capabilities in terms of colour palette (16.7M colours). Ask yourself why? The answer is a more flexible system in terms of colour representation. The human retina does register a large difference between 65K and 16M colours. Windows Mobile have to catch up.

  • Anonymous: "How come Nokia implement 16M colour screens without too much fuss whereas Windows are reluctant to invest in the technology that will bring about a similar result?" If you bothered to click the link and read, you would have had the answer to your question.

  • It would be very easy Windows Mobile to have as default more than 65K. But as there was already explained on this board it is not advantageous as memory and speed expenses to have such color depth for now. There might be better results for the image quality having a higher resolution than QVGA like VGA than higher depth for colors. Also even if the graphical chip supports 256K most of cheap and small LCD screens cant really reproduce high variation of colors so it might be little noticeable the increase of color number in memory. WM is more complex and integrates better with PC world than the OS from Nokia. Also there are more and more applications for WM than other mobile OS; the processors from Nokia are much slower than those from Eten and HTC. Those that are Linux warriors in PC world might prefer Nokia over anything based on Microsoft software.

  • "ShortFuse" : Windows Mobile does support 262K colours. Look at the forthcoming I-mate 8150 Ultimate. How come Nokia implement 16M colour screens without too much fuss whereas Windows are reluctant to invest in the technology that will bring about a similar result? The same goes for the still cameras and camcorders on WM devices.

  • According to the FCC reports, the specs on the x800 have been upgraded. It sports 500mhz samsung cpu and 256MB Flash ROM now. Can somebody make the necessary changes? (page 235)

  • Windows Mobile doesn't support 262k colors. see: It's rather difficult to notice and takes up more ram. 65k = 16bit and 262k = 18bit.

  • What is that means 65 vs 256.? have you ever seen 256k colors on PDAs, with lower screen resolution like 320x240, this one is 640x480 and it's perfect with 65k, you stupid

  • 65K colors vs 256K colors

  • Nokia and HTC are weaker as quality than Eten. Nokia doesnt even disclose for its cell phones the speed of processors, type of chipsets and so on; if those parameters would be on its side against the competitors then Nokia would trumpet them.

  • X800 is the best!! btw ya Alissa ur a lier!! this fone didnt cum out yet!! and if u ment wat u said.. but 4 another model.. ur lien' 2 cuz i have Eten Glifiish x500 & its the best!! Imate, O2, Qtek, & gigabyte suck.. the best is Eten & HTC!

  • To Alissa. Hey, you are liar, you couldn't buy this model even one month ago but you said you've been waiting two month after you bought it. They didn't even start making this model yet. If you're talking about another e-ten model, then go to that page and cry there freak.

  • Worst PDA PHONE Ever hardware key borken after i purchased new on amazon usb port doesnt work when i made my purchase Then i sent the device to Taiwan and i had to wait for 2 months to get it replace with a new one >_

  • with this speed, id rather wait 4 the next one.it wil com soon and we wil be askd to pay again.not me

  • c/p value is too low..I prefer HTC Kaiser!

  • Sorry I meant to say Infrared

  • Infrated is a cool feature I would say only to replace a remote control for the TV, for those who need it of course.

  • Infrared? who needs infrared? It's outdated techonology. They put it just to increment the peripheral counter :).

  • X800 model is expected to be launched at the end of Aug. Hope the CPU will be upgraded to 500 MHz with 256M SDRAM.

  • Anyone know anything about the delays ? We're almost July 2007. ETEN website does not give any info. Most ETEN dealers have no clue either.

  • why they don't just came out the PDA that larger space? if hav to add on to make more space, really really costly. This model already cost usd980++ ,then somemore extra for memory will pay extra money, this PDA will not worth to buy. That's my opinion.

  • 400mhz Samsung pr..r is actually equal to Intel 520mhz, it's like AMD and Intel, E-Ten says that final processor for the firs relise will be 500mhz which will have more power than Intel 624mhz. Memory, yeh is not enough, but they also said about memory that it'll be 128mb.

  • If 2GB is not enough then you can buy 4GB micro SD card for less than $60, soon 6 gigs will be out, isn't it enough ? get spare one or two

  • cancel this product? kidding me? but yea, problem is this model space is quite limit. If compare with i-mate 6150,that 1 is more larger. Somemore got Intel processor.

  • The only thing missing is the ability to use larger memory cards the 2GB. Yeah, yeah. It would be nice with better cpu and higher on board memory. But not a reason not to buy. The 2GB sd limit makes it useless... WE NEED MORE!!!

  • When this phone will be launch ? It take a long time from their demo. I think they will cancel this product

  • i think this model should be around RM2950-RM3300.

  • if a PDA phone without infrared, still consider good?

  • about the HTC Kaiser (P4550) this site seems to have some information about it, but I'm not sure it really has an SD and micro SD card slot, but it would be nice.

  • ey! anyone knows how long the standby-time is at this one?

  • The best smartphone so far.

  • Im looking forward to a new PDA phone. I travel a lot and need to be conected all the time to the internet and phone. There is a new HTC to come out called Kaiser... might be better than this X800... I dont know, does someone knows anything about it!? tks

  • Just would like to ask some question relate to X800's features (I saw in other website): 1)did it include flash on camera? 2)the screen is 2.8" or 3.5"? 3)did it include FM Radio? Hope anyone can answer my question. Thanks a lot!!

  • it looks like it has a camera with flash. another site had some more pictures up.

  • is there a flash for camera in this phone? im looking forward to buy this phone but kinda expensive

  • US Release: End of May 2007

  • When will this phone be released??? Also, can someone please answer the question regarding the 3G frequency support?? (ie 850/1900/2100MHz) Will it support 3G here in the US???

  • A very important feature most people overlook is whether the microSD slot is SDHC compliant. No point having great specs and be bogged down by a measly 2GB limit in memory card expansion. I have an ETEN M600 running 4GB SD card which I could load the entire TomTom USA/Canada maps plus Western/Central Europe maps on it with room to spare. Can't do that on a 2GB card.

  • Hmm.. A faster processor like Intel XScale 520 MHz and a sliding keyboard will make this PDA Phone perfect..

  • Does anyone Know what frequencies the 3G will run on? In other words, will it support the American frequencies that cingular etc. run on? (1900) if someone knows please email me or respond here and let me know! thanks

  • Can't wait to lay my hands on this product.....all I've ever wanted..fast phone, Internet, GPS, VGA and all of the rest is a bonus!!!

  • I was thinking to purchase a Nokia E61i but now I'm going to wait till an Eten X800 will be out in retail stores. Also where can I get more information about an Eten M900?

  • So, having waited for a long time on the N95, the GPS-func. was trashed buy a-mobil.no. Glad to find this one:When will it get on the market??

  • How do we *know* the UTMS is tri-band ? This is a very important question, but I only see proclamations from web users, not hard guaranteed specs from Eten here. If you have a reliable source, please quote it !!

  • Eten sources revealed that X800 will be FOR SURE endowed with 624 MHz CPU and 256 Mb ROM/128 RAM. Enjoy the news and ...keep dreaming

  • Rom and speed. is such a waste. its almost the perfict phone. U have to do somthing about it ETEN

  • I was looking at the Nokia 95, after my N80. Reportedly, N95 only has WCDMA 2100. When I checked X800, it has WCDMA 850/1900/2100... and to boot. GPS. Although it's camera is not as good as the N80's or the N95's, it has a Built-In GPS with WCDMA that will work in North America. I think this is a plus for North American users who are '20 years behind' in 3G/3.5G Technology. Because Rogers Wireless announced it has launched its UMTS, I presume FIDO will follow suit. Cingular in US already has UMTS... now... I will need a phone that is GSM Quadband and UMTS Tri-Band... and this in the only phone in the world (maybe the M900 if it comes out at the same time), that features GPS with all the possible Bandwidth Configurations for GSM and UMTS. HTC has the HTC Advantage X7500 but it is tooooooo BIG. So, X800 it is for me. I am glad I found out the moment I was about to buy the N95.

  • I hope that 500MHz Samsung CPU are true. By the way E-TEN can u squeeze-in infra red in it, and LCD with 16 Mill./ 32 bit color ..... (Dreaming ... ?)

  • check out the pictures from here: it looks like it has a flash... anyway, see for yourself :)

  • looks good, but waiting for fish_moster - M900 !!!

  • X800 shown on CEBIT was a prototype. It's planned that final version will have Samsung 500 MHz CPU.

  • no flash?? please tell me there is a flash for this phone. Does anyone knows if this phone uses strokes/pingying/or both.

  • From my experience with my glofiish x500 I thought ETEN would come out with real new features like diplay size to be 3.6" not 2.8, the processor speed to be higher than 500Mhz the RAM size and the keyborad etc. I found nothing interesting exept the Windows Mobile 6.0 and 3G

  • It's a beautiful phone. Great job ETEN!!!

  • ram and proces,ETEN this way IMATE will beat u wiyh there new ultimates. DDDDooo somthing B4 its to late. moor colors will help

  • color. do changes nothing about TV conection infrared is important

  • Evenrything look fine with this phone....but processor speed and RAM sucks.. It should be like intel 520 processor and 128MB RAM.... Take my advice and Change it ETEN....its not too late... :)

  • w00000w, nice screen, gps and hspda no qwerty keyboard, i dont really care anymore, im tired of waiting for a phone with everything, toshiba g900 is good phone also, but i like the thiness and gps in the 1.

  • Hope they have a Flash for the Cam and a LED-light on the Back for the Camcorder function and it has a 15 Frames per Second VGA Camcorder funktion. And 2 MP cam when there are 3 and more MP now on the other Phones? I think they could use a better (faster)Prozzesor with more Ram. So i can write on and on and on...

  • CPU could be better, I mean 520 or 624(dream) memory 128 or 256 mb could make this thing the best in the world, but 400mhz and 64mb regardless of all other features, I would say is waist of money

  • it looks like a nokia n70, Divided in a half, or like a nokia n80...

  • nice. very nice device.I have a M700, 3 day use.....3 weeks service..No bug, no eten. sorry but is true.

  • Think they have got it right with keeping the inbuilt Gps! i must say Eten are a good competition in the phone Market but they need to step their game up with higher res screens and better mega pixel cameras!

  • Would also be better if they made available a 3G version of their M700 too.
