My phone was stuck on Android 8.0 Following a tip I did a Factory Reset and as soon as I set up WiFi v9.0.1.175 firmware became available for download. I don't know why that worked but it did!

Looks like this is now fixed. Today, I got notified to update to 9.0.1.176 firmware. After the update, 5Ghz WiFi is now fully working again. Both lower and upper channel ranges.

After reading the comments being posted I'm glad that the Pie update was never released in the UK. Honor NEVER update their phones in the UK but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

It seems that after upgrading firmware to 9.0.1.xxx, the Honor 8 Pro can no longer detect the upper 5GHz wifi channel bands (149 to 165). Only the lower 5GHz bands (36,40,44,48) are usable. This is clearly a bug. I was forced to change my home router to use the lower 5GHz bands. The other solution is to downgrade firmware back to 8.x which was working fine with all 5GHz bands. I hope Honor will fix this problem soon.

My phone can't connect to 5ghz after the pie update also the 2.4ghz wifi connection becomes very unstable sometimes only transferring a few bytes of data per second... Whats wrong with honor and the software???

That is weird though, because even if the update appeared in my phone, I changed the location to the UK in order to have it requested (through HiCare) and everything went just fine....what if you try to change it to another location as well?

Will the UK get the Pie update? Not a chance! The same thing happened with the Honor 8 Oreo update; it was released in certain countries but never in the UK, so the Honor 8 Pro won't fair any better.

Also got the update in Greece, through the HiCare app (requested update and then searched for updates in the settings). So far the user interface pretty good and its features are really nice, the phone running fast and smooth

I'm in Greece, the device is still on Android 8 (emui 8) and I got the last update on February.....I also searched for updates in firmware finder and the updates shown are not approved for installation.....should I wait a little bit??

Yup got it too in Serbia. Android 9,Emui 9.0.1,March security update. So far smooth,new camera interface. Battery is little bit shorter but maybe things need to settle up a little.

Play Mobile Legends after got the .369 Gpu Turbo update, magnificient. Now GPU is not a problem anymore on this phone. Games played smoothly even after an hour unlike before the update, which got stutter here and there. Just make sure to put your games inside Game Suite list, to enhance the Gpu Turbo. I love it!

DEAR ALL, I have been using this honor8pro phone for more than one YEAR now.Its reception as regards mobile network and WIFI is excellent.The microphone and the speaker are very good.THE camera is exceptionally good since I ,for last 67 years of my life have used all good cameras, know how to make various adjustments provided therein.The pictures and videos either closeups or distant look lifelike and with excellent natural colours which match exactly the original colours and the sound recording is sharp and clear.The front camera is also equally good.The screen is large and the view is very sharp because of the high resolution.The build is very sturdy and the finish is attractive.The battery is huge and easily lasts for whole day.There is fast charging with any 2A charger and 0 to 100% charging in less than 2 hours.The phone has no heating problem even when playing games.I can go on and on.The one drawback is very late software upgrades.I my personal opinion this is the best phone for this price and is better than some phones costing almost double the price.GO FOR IT.

If you're looking for a performance centric phone go for the play..it has a decent camera as well and a good selfie camera.. If you're looking for smooth performance and an excellent rear camera go for the 8 pro.. You'll lose out on the notch or the 18:9 screen but the display quality is the best among the three.. The performance is quite good for a regular user.. You can do heavy gaming too but don't expect the ultra high setting on PUBG:-P.. The front cam is decent.. And if you want the best of the performance and the camera the v10 is the way to go.

Now i'm on july security updates, and i think it will jump straight to EMUI 8.2 on November as GPU Turbo only exist in that EMUI version. As for Android P update, last time this phone listed in Project Treble phones. So definitely will get Android P but as for the update timeline, i dont know.

Dont worry i too got this phone from flipkart in sale, when i started using this phone on first day without case it became very hot near camera espesially while charging and playing videos i too got scared after that i checked for updates and it showed an update for 313 mb trust me after this update my mobile is not even getting normal heat on charging and the mobile response also become fast, pls do it immediately and after that update u will get oreo update but dont go for that there are so many bugs in that so stop at that 313 mb update

Honor 8 pro does not currently support 1440p videos on youtube maximum resolution of 1080p available, better go for samsung if this is your criteria. Earlier in 2017 it used to support and you could view 1440p videos which was great not you cannot

Hey don't be get worry I am using the smartphone from last 1 year I got premium experience by using this device you will fall in love with this mobile in the way t looks, performance ,camera performance, battery life, screen quality gives a pretty good output. Yeah device get quite heats us because it has just thickness of 7mm. And it has a metal unibody due to that it feels like hot but it doesn't actually the temperature of that smartphone is same as the other mobile gets when they are running a high processing applications.

The heating issue has been resolved with updates and even before that it just used to get a bit warm, those stupid perfectionists overglorify it by calling it over heating. Yes, EIS can be enabled up to 1080p 30 fps. 1080p 60fps and 4k dont have any stabilization. For the price, camera is pretty decent.

@Shui8 That's not exactly true. Fast Charging on the H8PRO only requires a Qualcomm certified charger with 5v-9v 2A output. You can always tell if it is Fast Charging because you get two lightning bolts in the battery icon. I purchased a third party charger with that output from eBay that works fine with my H8PRO. Hope that clears things up.

Weird way of issuing an update though. First you download a security update dated November 2017. Then you check again and get the Oreo update. Then you check again to get the March 2018 security update. Then you check a fourth time to get the Face Unlock update.

I am also having issues with this phone. Before oreo update the phone didn't have any issues. But after the update the camera quality has gone down. Low light and artificial lighting photo quality is bit low. Heating and battery draining is an huge problem. 100% to 50% just in about 3-4 hrs. Standby time is quite normal. Despite all this the display of this phone is awesome. Front cam is pathetic. Even phones pricing around 15k INR gives better quality than this phone. Hope Honor india finds some solutions with the current problems.

U can change screen resolution if using Emui 8. Settings > Display > Screen Resolution. - If u not a gamer, best to stay at 2k res and enjoy the clarity of the screen. - If u a casual gamer, change screen to lower resolution to improve performance. - If u a hardcore / fanatic gamer, only play high end games, dont buy this phone, at the same price better get Oneplus 5 (Snapdragon 835). Each Honor 8 pro and Oneplus 5 got it pros and cons. Buy phone which is suitable for your needs.

U should know at the 1st place this phone GPU is weaker compare to Snapdragon flagship. But it still decent for me though, using Oreo, change resolution to FHD, launch gaming using Game Suite. Its just that the 2k res screen damaged the GPU performance.

When i bought the phone. I instantly check for update but i had not got any update. After that i insert two sim in both slot 1st jio and second airtel and used data on jio sim.and finaly I got the update. Thats why i suggested you to use the sim data.

When I had purchased, it was on EMUI 5. then after few months, I got an update which turned it into EMUI 8 with Android 8 Update. Now it is showing as DUK-L09 8.0.0.310 (C675). And there after no new update. As you had mentioned about the face unlocking, I didn't receive the same yet. that is why i was asking you.

Oreo is so good settings are arranged properly. Wait for next update, got face unlock (some have received it already). Best thing in oreo, can change resolution to FHD (gaming fps improved), 2k screen is overkill and damaged GPU performance! In camera, panorama mod in low lights quality has improved a lot.

For me the sound is quiet loud, but quality is just average. What is your firmware version? For a 2017 phone, the low lights camera capability is quiet good, its even on par with iphone 7 plus and sometimes better, even without OIS. I dont have any complains for the price.

Also, I tried to download the 108 MB update but it failed as it is an unauthorized package....when I bought the phone, it had emui 5.1 and Android 7, after the update i have emui 8 and Android 8 as well...so, should I try the other 2,7 GB package or just let it go?

In my country latest .362.....yes u can bypass the full download and use that OTA 108mb file since u already have oreo installed. If u come from emui 5.1, then u have to use the 2.7gb full download.

Good for u mate... yup .362 is the latest one.. no need update previous scurity patch, as the new will superseed previous one. Agreed, oreo update is much mo smoother, wait a few days, battery improved significantly because of the AI system... best thing is, can change resolution to FHD.

@Shui8 Stop complaining? I think I have a right to. I spent nearly £500 on a phone that has never been supported by Huawei since it was released. My phone is unlocked to all networks, so if the update doesn't arrive in the UK then the fault lies with Huawei, not the carrier. I've explained to you before that the Oreo update is only being released in Asia, Huawei has stuck two fingers up to the rest of the world.

Stop complaining and take action, i'm just suggest alternatives available. Its not huawei's fault its ur local telco fault, use another telco brand or wifi connection and try update.

@Shui8 Seven security updates in seven months? Really? I don't think so. Even the Google Pixel only received two updates in that period so I don't know you got seven for the H8PRO. In an earlier post you suggested using a third party app to find newer firmware for the H8PRO. Why should I have to? I paid a lot of money for this phone and I expect Huawei to update it, not go searching around for it myself. I belong to a Huawei support group in the UK and we have owners of H8, 7c, 7x etc. also all complaining about Huawei lack of updates.

Not for me, support is very good. Bought mine july last year, got july, august, sept, nov, december, january and february security patch along with emui 8 oreo. Therefore i have nothing to complains. Performance now smooth like day 1. Oneplus 5t a good phone as well, but not the same league as honor 8 pro. Honor 8 pro should be compared with oneplus 5, whereas got oreo the same time as 8 pro. 5t competes with honor view 10, which got oreo out of the box. And camera always superior on the Honor side.

@Fikri I don't think I'll live long enough to receive the Oreo update in the UK. Anyway, I managed to dump it on eBay and treated myself to a Oneplus 5T. As soon as I connected it to WiFi it got the Oreo update straight away. I will never trust Huawei again and I'm not alone in thinking that.

@Fikri I read somewhere (but I can't find the article now) that only the H8Pro models that were made for the Chinese market would receive the Oreo update, so that phones made for other markets (i.e. Europe) would not receive it; so it seems pot luck whether you get it or not.

Sometimes, mostly when there is white background on a page, there is a part on the top left corner of the screen that becomes white for about 1 sec and then it returns back to normal...it looks like dead pixels but the screen is functioning properly though....this has happened sometimes and it will be disappointing if something is indeed wrong....it should be added that the device has never been dropped or anything like that....has it ever happened to anyone??

Oreo beta? Lol the latest is official and not beta...I found oreo update on my honor 8 pro more arranged and clean. Love the resolution can be changed to FHD as gaming improved. After every update, I always clean cache partition and clear data of camera, apart from the 3d creator not working, the camera quality is better. Love it.

if you want to downgrade your honor 8 pro from oreo to nought, then you can simply go to honor store, they may help you. if you don't want to do that then you can flash your phone to factory settings using it's firmware. it will definitely help you to downgrade. but be aware while flashing, read HOW TO FLASH before flashing.

Checkout scratch test in youtube, the screen is strong. I havent use any screen protector for 7 month already, not even have any scratch. But you better use it, I just dont like have screen protector. Nevertheless, screen is so good and strong.

people don't read fake news. oreo doesn't have any serious bugs that would render it useless and huawei has not stopped roll out. every device will get oreo but their rollout speed is slow af. i got oreo after about a week of rollout news. the brand doesn't manage updates well as it promised oreo in december 2017 but delayed it till feb 2018 but same is the case with even flagship devices i also have samsung note 5, my brother uses s8 all got updates pathetically late. if you are not using nexus or pixel device then expect to get updates late. this is not just huawei rather every android manufacturer is at fault. but do not read false news that there is some major bug which has led to suspend oreo update and other crap news. also after big update hard reset your phone and every manufacturer suggests doing the same else you may face minor bugs. make yourselves aware of things related to your device as you have a smartphone not dumb phone.

Using it and its good. U cant compare with 5t, as its competition is honor v10. And honor v10 got oreo out of the box, whereas 5t has a bug oreo updates. If u want to compare honor 8 pro, its oneplus 5. I got july, sept, oct, november security updates and later january security with oreo. For the price and features, I dont have any complains.

This company, not the phone, is a disgrace. Last YEAR they reportedly stated that Oreo would arrive before the end of December 2017, yet it is now February 2018 and there is still no sign of it. It's okay saying 'Just wait, it will arrive' but it is already two months late and no indication of when it comes to the UK. My contract expired a week ago and I decided that I couldn't trust Huawei again so after looking at other phones I decided to swap to the Oneplus 5T. After taking delivery I opened the box, connected it to WiFi and straight away it upgraded to Oreo. Now THAT is how it should be. If Huawei don't get their finger out and look after their loyal customers then like me they will be saying "I'm off".

I don't know much about the Sony you mentioned, especially since Sony is having a really bad year with phones I'll not even look into it. But I use h8pro and I am contended with it. Its my daily driver and works well. Heating could be around 38 something and that's during some misbehaving apps (at least for me) like some app trying to catch gps or such. It worls fine rest of the time. They nerfed it a bit with one of their updates when people reported issues, but for me it worked excellent with out of the box android version. You seem to be a very conservative user and it should get through the day fine. Since you are saying it's an upgrade I suggest going through other phones too because h8pro is very late 2016 to early 2017 type. What I like about this phone is its 2k screen(allows 2k youtube videos). Just too good wonder why next models 9 and 10 are sidegrades. Pros are day light camera, screen, battery,audio and a large storage. Cons for me are no cloud backup and clumsy updates

Based on your usage I will say the phone gets warm on any of the continuous usage of more than 30 mins except Music... but warm, not hot. If you use a back cover then you can feel less of it. Single charge will definitely keep you throughout the day. Camera in Low light is avg until you use the flash. camera in day time is excellent. Rest all the department is very good.I'd recommend the latest View 10 instead of H8P.

yes, the update is free of bugs, none of apps crashed even once since the update,No slow downs or freezes. Quite a lot bloatware has been added in form of EA games offerings but everything is uninstallable, Battery life seems to be marginally better now.

absolutely not. I have been using it past 4-5 months and its pretty hot even after the Bug Fix update. it easily touches 42dc. if you use the camera for 2-3 min, it will be at 40. i dont know why so even after the update. I took it for a tour and had to take a lot of photos but i couldn't: the phone was uncomfortable to hold after 15 min of Camera use!! thats absolutely disappointing right? I am waiting for the Oreo: that may solve this or at least reduce the degree of affect! if not, I will sell this and go for other ones. (Im from India)

Hello Great H8P users. Please give a glance here and help. Im planning to have a phone-upgrade. I have two options in front-- Honor 8 pro and Sony XA1Plus... H8p is definitely much promising on paper. But some Cons are seen mentioned invariably across reviews!! So this will be my final resort. My Daily-usage habits go like: #1. Call- total ~3 Hrs; of which 1 Hr at a stretch is typical part of my job. #2. Youtube- ~1Hr 30Min at a stretch #3. A. Browsing- ~1-2 Hr a day B. Gmail- Hourly check. #4. A. Camera- Only still photos as part of my job (like, may be some 30 Clicks forenoon), B. Video call over whatsapp- ~25- Mins a day. #5. Document Editing- ~10-15 Mins (just a page to type dailly) * Absolutely no FB no Gaming or anything like that. * I usually keep my phone in power saving mode (Asus now) * I dont keep the Data Always-On. Nor gps. I need them only when I use them * I dont keep apps on RAM unless when i use. (may be except Gmail and Browser). ...As I am intolerant to Phone-Heating i am sceptical about H8P. ?.. Does the phone heat up much in any of the above mentioned use-patterns? ..Especially during extended phone call or data connection like browsing, Youtube. ..By Heating i mean anything above 40-41 DegCel. ?.. I have been using this phone since the last 6 months and absolutely love it. My one grouse is the audio quality, or rather the lack of audio quality of the phone. The speakers simply dont sound the way they should. And, of course, dust/water proofing would have been the proverbial feather in the cap.

That music player is the default when we get the phone initially, later it has become 4 tabs, one tab has that all songs as shown in that section 8 in review, the other 3 tabs have chinese songs list. Good for u though. Respect ur opinions. Oh by the way honor 8 pro nemesis is oneplus 5, not 5t. And oneplus 5 only got their oreo recently. Maybe honor 8 pro a bit late because they have their own tweaked software, unlike oneplus which about 95% stock android. I dont mind that as emui 5, 7.0 nougat on honor phone even have some of oreo features which stock 7.0 dont have. Oneplus 5t nemesis is Honor View 10, which will got oreo out of the box and a bit cheaper.

Its because of the battery saving features on emui cause the halt notifications. But no worries, it has a solution. 1. Go to settings>battery, tap on the settings icon on top right corner, make sure everthing off in there except keep mobile data on during sleep. 2. Go to settings>battery>lock screen cleanup, make sure your desire apps not turn on. 3. Go to settings>apps, tap on the setting icon on center, go to special access>ignore optimisations, change to all apps, choose your desire apps, and make it allowed. Voila! All sets and your desire apps will be working normally without notification halted. Hope it helps.

My phone is still on v7.0 and July 2017 security patch, which is proof of Huawei's poor attitude towards it's customers. Also, although v8.0 is RUMOURED to arrive in January don't expect it to arrive then, it will probably be months (if at all) after that. I'm not bothered anyway, I always change my phone every December and took delivery of a Oneplus 5T two days ago. Proof that if you don't look after your customers they will go somewhere else. I certainly won't be coming back to Huawei again.

Stock music player emui 5.1 very basic. I'm using Poweramp apps with 10 band equalizer, better than honor stock music player, but in the upcoming emui 8 update, they improve it with equalizer and mega bass control added. Maybe after I will back to stock player.

just updated my honorv9 to oreo .. it was not available through direct update app, but instead had to go to service and maintainance app and request for update, first there was 5000 quota , which was over by the time i knew about this , and i got updated in second batch ... not much of difference ... basically fells same ... lags little bit, may be due to being untested properly .. and another funny thing , it comes with google play although its blocked in china .. but guys , have patience , there is emui 8 and android oreo for this phone ... sooner or later you will get updated ... have patience ..

I am using the Honor 8 pro for already 3 months. I come from a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. I must say that I am very impressed! I was at first skeptical going for a Chinese brand. I've done though a lot of research before the acquisition. I was not ready to pay again 700-800 Euros or more for a Smartphone, sa I looked for a good performance - money ratio. The phone works very slick, i don't see any lagging so far. There were one ore 3 crushes, but they can also survey because of the apps, for ex. WhatsApp. Emui 5.1 works good for me. I really don't understand why are some people complaining so much. And there is the battery. Omg! It just won't get empty! Just great. So, for the ones that don't want to spend a fortune for a Smartphone, i can highly recommend this one. Very fast, metal body, very good camera, great battery life, very good screen,great value for money.

CONNECTIVITY ISSUES:- (1) This phone (Honor 8 pro) does not support dual 4G Standby i.e. If one SIM tray is selected for default mobile data (4G), then the other automatically changes to 2G/3G. (3) SINR (Signal Interference to Noise Ratio) in honor 8 pro is in the range of -10db to -11db (negative number range), this is Worst!!! SINR should be a positive digit greater than +20db for good internet reception speed. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi note 4 had SINR value in the range +12db to +15db which is very good!! (4) This phone (honor 8 pro) chooses 3G signal even if good LTE signal is available. SAFETY:- There is no good quality/branded screen guard nor good quality/branded cases for honor 8 pro in the market online/offline. Dude everything is available i have bought this phone on 3rd of Oct, heating issue is there but as soon as you get the phone you get update for it, but heating will be there cause this is very slim phone big big battery and one of the most high performing processors, its not a big issue! This phone performs top notch! Hi. I had bought the phone 2 months back. I am using an Airtel 3G sim in roaming. I have no trouble calling someone. But when I try to receive a call, right from the first day, almost every time the call gets cut after I press the receive button. I can receive calls once a while, but probably 9 times out of 10, I can't. The moment I click the green receive button, the call gets cut! Has anyone else had the same problem on their Honor 8 pro? NO WAY!! op 5 camera in low light is poor. Honor 8 pro cam in daylight and low-light is much better and realistic. Performance is slightly better in real life in 8 pro.(but not much difference, both are excellent) battery life is better in 8 pro, display is lot better in 8 pro, it also comes with VR set and it's much cheaper. So 8 pro is Best.

The vibration while charging is normal for some metal phones. Some oneplus devices had the same issue and the company themself confirmed that it's nothing to be concerned about. I do feel the heat while using outdoor under bright sunlight.at once it did reach 46° but it was on full brightness and 20 min of camera usage. I buyed it from Amazon on 22 sep 2017 by Amazon prime account.. But still they delivered it on 26sep 2017... And after i got the delivery after sometime i puted it for charging and i felt the back of the mobile was vibrating and got heated... So i call customer care and after several steps they agreed for replacement .. They have picked my mobile on 28sep and.. After that again they delivered it on 3rd October 2017... For those who have app crash issue, Google Play dont work properly, Go to settings>battery, go to settings icon on top right, make sure everything off in there. I only turn on keep mobile data on during sleep (keep whatsapp always online). Then go to settings>memory & storage>storage cleaner, go to settings icon on top right and turn off auto clean. Lastly go to settings>apps, choose the apps that u want always active, go to battery, make sure system wake up on, after that go to write system settting, make it yes. Remember to restart phone after settings applied. See if it works. The problem with EMUI 5 is there are too many hidden features that huawei applied and things become unstable because of it. Hope they fixed it in oreo update. Oh by the way, I dont have any app crash issue with the phone anyway, just pointed out suggestion for those who have that kind of problem.

Perfect, update is a let down. Created another issue where google sync and playstore stop working, after hours of research found certain apps cause it, ao had fo delete said app and reset cache. Anogher major feature missing is online backup. Was using Xiaomi's redmi note 3, their mi cloud was just perfect. Wallpapers, notes, msgs, app data almost everything ould be backed up including homescreen state. If something goes just reset the phone and then upon restart providing micloud credentials brought phone back to earlier state. Its such a convenience especially how unreliable smart phones are. Sadly Huawei's HiCloud isnt available. Nor does it do what mi cloud does.

Huawei Honor 8 Pro - After 2 months of use This phone is a complete package for this price [30k INR] on paper. I have used and seen other Honor phones in past and aware of their performance. So this time I went with that experience and bought this phone. The options available for me were Oneplus 5 and Samsung C9 pro. I was using Oneplus 2 before this and my experience with oneplus was not at all good because of their ditching behaviour. Samsung C9 pro was not appealing me much in comparison to Honor 8 Pro. Ok, so I am writing my review in four sections 1.Where it shines 2.Features missing 3.Things I didn't like and 4.Issues 1. Where it shines: * Battery performance - Honor 8 Pro is packing 4000mAh battery with quick charge 3.0, it is best in this price segment. - Battery backup of this phone is awesome. I am a little heavy cell phone user and it gives me 1.5 days easily. Sometimes even 2 days in a single charge. - The Ultra Power Saving mode is excellent, however it restricts you to limited usability but then that is what buys you the extra time. * Sound Quality - It has built in DTS sound for headphones, which brings out clear and wide dynamic range in music. - You don't need to buy expensive headphones to experience this, your normal JBL or Sennheiser headphones/earphones can also make you feel the difference. - The Speaker is not a brilliant one but loud enough. * Dual Camera - Huawei is making dual camera phones since a long time and this is not their first attempt like OP5. - It has one monochrome and one normal sensor, and believe me this phone captures sharpest photos I have seen from any mobile phone cameras. - Overall picture quality is not as good as Pixel or IPhone but surely better than any of its competition in this segment. Yes even OP5. - There are plenty of modes for photography enthusiast to bring out some creativity. - The Monochrome photo capture mode is super cool because of its monochrome sensor. - It also supports RAW. - 1080p with 60 fps is super smooth. - The trending portrait mode is also present, and it is better than OP5. It'll be stupid to compare it with IPhone 7 plus though. * Screen - It has a brilliant screen with QHD resolution. Best in this segment. - Excellent for VR experience. - The screen is sharp and with popping colors. * Looks and Build quality - The phones looks beautiful in blue color with its slim profile. And yes it doesn't have that camera bump on back. - It feels smooth in hand and slippery as well. * Other features - It also supports mSD card. - Dual sim with VoLTE support [Jio SIM works absolutely fine] - NFC - IR blaster [Very useful when you have bunch of remote controls to deal with] - 6GB of RAM - 128GB Internal memory 2. Features Missing: - No Google Chrome cast - There is no support for Chrome cast out of the box in EMUI 5.1. It has Mirror Share which is I think based on Miracast. - No Double Tap to Wake up. Yes they removed DTTW in EMUI 5.0 don't know why??? This is frustrating for me. - Another very basic thing is missing. You can't use pattern lock if you have setup finger print unlock, you should have PIN unlock only... Why????? - There is no dark theme mode in EMUI. - Poor implementation of gesture controls. No customization of basic gestures like swipe down or swipe up. 3. Things I did not like * Back mounted finger print scanner - I don't like fingerprint scanners on back, why not on front when you have plenty of space there. Why do you need that huge chin for Honor logo? Back mounted finger print scanner without DTTW and a forceful PIN unlock all makes it so impractical when your phone is lying on table most of the time. Every time you want to check your phone you have pick up your phone to unlock. One should be able to do this without necessarily picking it up. - Headphone jack at bottom - I don't like this position, it is not a natural position for headphone jack. Very annoying at times. - The glass on screen has a weird coating I guess, it makes the screen ultra-smooth and sometimes makes you slip your finger to make accidental wrong touch on screen. - Honor 8 Pro has huge forehead and chin, gives it bad body to screen ratio making it a huge phone. Not so 2017... - Dual tone flash on back is not the best in this segment, in fact I find it weak. - EMUI offers nearly zero customizations. The theme engine is also not that good compared to other Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi's MIUI. - The LED indicator is placed inside earpiece. Useless... I have to come over on top of it to see it. I don't even remember now that there is a LED indicator. - Overall performance of EMUI on Kirin 960 is not smooth it’s jerky. 4. Issues - After latest update [Build:DUKL09C675B140] a serious RAM management issue has been introduced. All memory intensive apps like Facebook Instagram Playstore and other Games are getting killed[stopped] abruptly. The apps gets closed all of a sudden while using. - The default music player has a filter feature where you can say not to include audio from certain folders which unfortunately doesn't work. - Slow Motion video recording is poor and of no use. My 2 years old Oneplus 2 was having better frame rate and clarity. - The display is a little over saturated and has a blue tone. But I think they have fixed this issue. I saw another phone ordered recently has right screen color calibration. - Knuckle gesture doesn't recognise the knuckles... Why the heck NUCKLES???? - Sometimes screen does not dim before going off, it just goes off when screen on time outs. - Live wallpapers makes EMUI behave weird sometimes.

This is the all round device. I am really enjoying using it. Coming from s7 edge I am really surprised to see the performance and future proofing done by Honor. Pros: 1. Awesome Battery. 2. Good Display. 3. Good output via loud speaker ( Cannot match stereo setup but good) 4. Snappy performance. No lag seen in 10 Days. 5. Ample amount of RAM and Storage (6 G & 128 GB). 6. Good Rear Cameras and Selfi cam. 7. Super fast Finger print sensor. Cons : 1. Huge mobile footprint and definitely not meant for one hand usage . 2. Other than that None that I have noticed. ( This is just a comparison with S7 edge) 1. Camera is affected by absence of OIS and results are around 80% of S7 edges image quality 2. No IP 68 Rating. 3. I miss amoled display ;)

for me,who always on my data using single sim 4g and using volte, as for today, my screen on time is 8 hours, standby 15hours +, battery left 6%. im not a gamer at all. my battery stats for today, i use lazada app for 1 hour 20minutes, chrome 1 hour 8 minutes, fblite 1 hour(major use), and others like whatsapp, telegeam,youtube, google+,instagram and etc including taking some photos daily. the worst i gor is 5 hours sot, standby 18 hours with another 20% of battery to spare. i never use any of huawei battery saver features like lower the screen resolution(what the 2k screen for rite), no restrict auto start at all(i like the apps to maximise the massive 6gb ram). i also turn off auto clean internal space cache, cuz cache for me is really important to speed up things,plus,since i dont play games, i have massive internal space free though. cuz im only love to surf the web, not feeling any uncormfortable heat though. those using vr/playing games,maybe will feel the heat through the metal/alluminium(yeah, i think the body construction itself contribute to the heat,no wonder many now opt to use glass back. suitable for me as non gamer, apps r really fast to load n open. really hard for this device to stutter. if u r hardcore gamers, u shud stick to sd835 devices, better performance n less heat like xiomi mi6, 1+5, or even nokia 8,,or wait for honor 9(full hdscreen, so better for games compare to 2k in h8pro. but if u want a solid performer, good camera,nice screen, big battery to tame arm mali g71 clock 1ghz+ n 2k screen, u wont go wrong with h8pro.

Yeah, I have the B183 update as well. It heats up during normal use too, like installing apps and watching videos, particularly in the bottom part of the screen, right above the Honor logo. When I tried the VR box and watched 5 to 10 minutes it was literally too hot to handle. I thought that maybe I didn't receive the update that fixes the heating, but apparently I have and there's not much I can do about it.

I brought a Honor 8 pro 3 weeks back after a harrowing experience with my LG G5. To start with the battery life on LG G5 is lot bad than what the reviews suggest. As if that was not enough, the RAM management on the G5 was real bad. At any point it would barely have only 500 MB of available RAM, and I am not even that heavy user. The phone heats up real fast and after that all hell breaks lose. The phone hangs, simple tasks freeze the phone, and I had to reboot it atleast once a week. Why am I writing this? Because, I was a fan of LG phones before this, having used G2 before that. It is hard to imagine the same company launched something like a G5. Living with it was so bad I finally exchanged it for Honor 8 Pro. And I couldn't have been much happy. It was a revelation. The 6 GB RAM, coupled with their in house Kirin processor gives a very smooth experience. The kind of experience I missed on my G5. The phone never hangs, is snappy, super fast, and the best part is the battery easily lasts more than a day. The camera is quite nice, and the music via headphones is just surreal. Sure, I had an option of 1+5, however, having burnt my fingers with the 1+2 earlier I decided against it. And it had been a good decision so far. I get 6GB RAM, 128 GB storage, a powerful processor, beautiful display, and that finer print sensor is so fast.

For those people who are confused between Honor 8 Pro and One Plus 5, Every other +points of OP5 is negated by the company's greatest blunder, lack of a QuadHD screen. The full potential of Snapdragon 835 can be used only when you play VR, really heavy games and 4K videos. You need a 2K or 4K screen for that. Else you don't need the 10nm 835 processor and the huge RAM. A slightly inferior processor and 4GB or lesser RAM can easily drive a fullHD phone. It is 2017 and OP is giving FHD screen to it's flagship!!! 3 years back LG had G3 with QuadHD screen that used to run beautifully with the processor of that time. OP5 is like a taxi car fitted with sports car engine. Whereas Honor 8 pro ticks all the right boxes and each of its hardware compliments other specs to make sure the buyer gets maximum value for the money he spend.

Go on XDA forum there is a guide on how to tweak battery life. Follow the steps on it. It has all the steps in the screenshots. But remember some steps like lock screen clean up will close your apps as soon as your phone locks. Then do not complain as why my apps are closing out.

Got to setting > battery > power saving mode on > Lower the screen resolution and keep the brightness lower than usual..... And you gotta click the Optimise button on phone manager app from time to time. and here you go... your batttery lasts longer than you expect.

About the ufs2.1 and getting emmc 5.1, Check that on XDA forum you will know what is mentioned by Huawei and why they did not give it. Not everyone is going to be android tester. Most of us want a device which will work seamlessly. Apple does not give 8/6gb ram their phones has lower processor compared to android devices. But there is a reason why Apple is where it is. They know what will work for their phones to be at their best. Just for the sake of it, Giving 6/8/12 gb ram would not work. Processor should be compatible with it or its a waste. Emmc 5.1 works seamlessly and no one will notice a difference on it vs ufs 2.1. About heating I have answered already in my last post. Charging is slower, All the companies are slower than the dash charge. Is double tap to wake such a big deal for you? Is fingerprint sensor not enough? We already got an update which fixed the only two issues it had. Check about that in my last post. Conclusion: If you want only specs then some random company will next launch 16gb ram with 256 gb rom go for it and not an overall package. And when it comes to the overall package H8P is far better than OP5. Period.

Average fixed focus front camera. Good at daylight, but in low light details a bit loss and noise came up. If u like to use front camera I suggest take a look at Xperia XA1 ultra. Even have small battery but the battery life is decent, spec is mid range but cheaper than Honor 8 Pro.

Never buy samsung midrange phone as their processor or sensor sucks which gives you very laggy ang slow performance. Always buy Samsung Flagship smartphones like S series or Note series. If you cannot afford samsung Flagship phones then got for Honor 8 pro. By the way..Samsung C7 pro screen resolution is very low compared to Honor 8 pro.

Use Honor 8 Pro for a month already. No complains! My wife owns Mate 9 with leica camera, compare it side by side with my Honor 8 Pro, quality is the same! Top notch both daylight and low light photos! The only differents is Mate 9 have that leica color option which I would never use. It has Leica branding therefore the Mate 9 more expensive because of that share. No overheating after new updates. Battery life is brilliant, easier got 2 days life, tweak it a bit by close some apps after screen lock, disable auto sync in account option, enable gps just when to use it. I own Xperia Z1 before, and love it too but at the moment there is no Sony Xperia device that can compete at the price of Honor 8 Pro at the moment. Super fast phone! No regrets.

Go for S7 not S7 edge if you can.... Edge display is very uncomfortable to hold and type text messages. If you don't trust me then try it in your own somewhere else with anyone's Edge display phone. Edge display is only for Looks but not for practictal usages.. it is Gimmicky in nature trying to allure customers. Better Go for Flat screen... S7. I brought Honor 8 Pro last week before, it is a very good mobile and flagship killer too. Depends on your budget. At 30k Honor 8 pro is best at 33k Op5 is best. If you have 3k more it's much better to buy Op5. You will get latest processor, latest ram, fastest internal storage, fastest charging, 4k eis, front cam eis, Bluetooth 5.0, fastest update for atleast next op device. In Honor 8 pro you will only get 2k screen, and may be better camera that's it. Look at Amazon reviews it has 16nm processor so heating is there, slower ram and slower internal storage, no 4k and front cam eis and Bluetooth 4.2. Honor just did a scam too, it has given all the reviewers ufs2.1 storage equipped device and faked all the benchmark ultimately you will get emmc5.1 storage. So choice is yours.

If you care that much about specs, don't buy this phone. Honor did a scam. This has old and slow emmc 5.1 storage, with old and slow ddr4 ram. And old Bluetooth 4.2, and old Corning Gorilla glass 3. It has a old 16 NM processor with much weaker gpu and it heats very quickly. No eis on 4k video, no eis on front cam. Only good thing is 2k screen but that consumes too much battery so 4000mah is useless. It has 5.7 inch screen with on screen buttons so you will have effective 5.5 inch screen. No double tap to wake with fingerprint in the rear, so you will have to pick up the phone every single time to check anything. Plus slow charging. 2hrs 10 min to full charge being switch off. It's cheap for a reason. Still it's understandable but what Honor did, giving media people ufs 2.1 storage 8 pro was beyond rational thinking. All the YouTube speed test and how fast the phone is actually complete bullshit. Never ever buy Honor phones.

It's a pure scam of Honor and all the paid reviewer are not even ready to address it. Forget those speeetest of youtube, in real life it's no where near to OnePlus 5. Honor 8 pro heats much faster as per 90% reviews on Amazon, not all can be wrong. It's much slower to charge almost 2hrs to 2hrs 10min. It has no double tap to wake and rear fingerprint so every time you will have to pick it up. Your Review, Clearly shows who is Biased. OP5 is no doubt a great phone but it is not better than H8P. I have both and using it from more than 15 days. Battery: H8P gives me 7h15m of SOT and OP5 comes to 6H. Even with its 2K display if this phone gives this battery backup then its awesome. FYI I am a heavy user. Display: H8P wins this round hands down. Whatever you mentioned about Amoled display does not stand a chance against such high quality display check 1440p videos on H8P you will then understand. Charging: OP5 wins this round. H8P takes 1h50m to charge but OP5 is the best in the industry atm. Camera: OP5 is hit/miss when it comes to bokeh effect. H8P is great in bokeh effect and also has an awesome monochrome mode which is amazing. Both support 4k videos with EIS so its a tie because where OP5 lacks it makes up with its better selfie shooter. Pricing: Expandable storage option with 128gb in 30k with 6gb ram compared to 33k for OP5 with 64gb and non-expandable storage also makes H8P a winner Heating Issue: I have tested it on both devices by playing games like Asphalt 8 and taking 4K video. H8P shows temp of 40 degrees and OP5 as 39 degrees. After the update which I got for H8P I got it coming down to 38 degrees. So both devices are same here. Only issues which people claimed it had Heating (all smartphones heat up so it is not an issue) and Jio calling issue has been fixed in the new update. Another awesome thing which happened is Huawei had seminars for their users in Chennai recently and next they are planning to have it in Bangalore. In this forum you can discuss give ideas, suggestions and also understand whether those ideas can be implemented in future updates. You can interact with the devs check XDA to find out about the entire questionnaire and the new things suggested for the device where they agreed to implement them. Android O is promised till end of this year for H8P. Huawei is serious with this device unlike other companies who promise updates and then give it after a year.. Example: OP with OP2.

If 1st sim has 4g with data on...then automatically 2nd sim will switch to 3g/2g. Honor 8 pro works like on whichever sim data is selected, that sim automatically switches to 4G and other sim on 3G or 2G depending upon the availability.

Battery drain issue has already been resolved! Disable Google Now App from app settings. It drains all the battery due to keeping the microphone on all the time. Although it doesnt show up in active app list however you will need to disable this app from the settings menu to improve battery timing drastically. My phone's standby timing improved by "8 DAYS".

I tried everything but jio to jio calls fails. when we call from jio to jio, call disconnected after 2 or 3 seconds. and that particular sim works well in other volte mobile. And there is no native jio video calling. I think this a software fault from honor itself like their other mobile Honor 6X, honor 8 have same problem. Shame on you Honor Your all phone have same problem and till now you have no capability to solve this problem. You are just launching faulty mobile one by one....

Bro I have both phones... And both are superb... My daily driver is honor 8 Pro and 2nd phone G6.. It's been only 2 days with 8 Pro.. G6 I am using since April and camera is awesome of G6... Now honor has best bokeh effect in the business... Now 8 Pro is a big phone... And G6 is one hand use.. U decide what u need in a phone.. Don't believe everything that is being claimed in here... Some overjealous Huwaei/honor fans just want to show OnePlus in bad light, so they claim Honor 8 Pro better than OP5 in every area. Here is the truth - Camera - Both are similar in camera in daylight but in low light OP5 is better. Sound via Headphones - OP5 wins. It has 1 volts output, highest ever compared to 0.45 of Honor 8 pro. Also OP5 has Dirac sound. Check Pocketnow review. OP5 is among world's top 4 phones in sound quality. Speaker - Similar in both. Bit better in Honor 8 Pro Battery - OP5 has better battery life. Honor 8 pro just can't compete. It has 2k resolution, bigger screen and older chip(16nm) to push with that 4000 mAh battery. So it loses out in battery life. Processor - OP5 has S835, honor has kirin 960. Cpu power in both is same. But in GPU, op5 has 2 times more powerful GPU, honor has even weaker gpu compared to S820, forget about S835. So in long run when games get more graphic intensive, honor will start lagging. Also honor chip is made on old 16nm while s835 is made on new 10nm. Heating - honor heats up very much. In comparison OP5 remains cool all the time, no matter what. Thanks to 10nm. Display - Honor is better as it has 2k display. But op5 has Amoled, so op5 has better colors and better blacks. So it's about personal preference. Charging - OP5 wins hands down. Dash charging is simply superb. No contest Fingerprint - Both are equally fast but op5 has on front, so it's better to use it. Ram - OP5 provides option of 8/6 gb while in honor it's fixed at 6gb. Also op5 has ddr4x ram which is more advanced than ddr4 ram of Honor. Internal memory - honor provides 128gb but can also be expanded via micro SD, but it's limited to 128gb in op5. But Op5 has fastest UFS 2.1 internal memory while honor 8 pro has old and slow emmc 5.1 internal memory. So OP5 wins here. Design - Both phones look fantastic but i feel honor 8 pro looks a bit better. Software - No contest, OP5 has the best and fastest software. Also updates are very very fast, only behind google phones. So all in one, OnePlus 5 is a superior phone. Honor 8 is a little bit cheaper. Make your informed choice. Also, don't blindly believe youtube reviews. All reviewers have got honor 8 pro with fast UFS 2.1 storage but users are being given slower honor 8 pro with emmc storage.

Hello there, I got it and I live in UAE. Very nice phone so far. It also has an App Twin feature where you can have two separate WhatsApp and Facebook accounts without going thru all the headache of doing rooting or parallel space! It's awesome! I use two SIM cards and it lasts for a reasonable amount of time. Using 1 SIM card will guarantee it lasts for more than a day I think. Negative is the "Smart Merge" feature in contacts. It will, without ur permission, decide to merge and rename contact names on its own accord! So Damon annoying! Biggest advice is that you have all your contacts synced to Google account and in contact list, only choose to view Google contacts, otherwise it is a nightmare. Another small negative is that sometimes, when u tap or want to write somewhere, it doesn't register the tap til u tap several times. Overall, it's very fast and has great battery life. The UI and motion gestures are an amazing component as well.

But manufacturer price is approximately 200 and 250 for S8 and S8 plus. So Samsung earn like 600 and 650 on each of their phones. This phone has so many good things compared to the other Flagship Phones. Yes the s8 specifically. For starters, the volume button and the power button is on the correct side as most people in this word are right handed. The fingerprint sensor is in the perfect spot and it is lightning fast. I love the bigger battery. I have an Honor 8 and it lasts almost three days on heavy use. This is the bigger more powerful brother and if this comes with american bands for LTE T-mobile, my Samsung s7 Edge is so gone.

The best feature of all Huawei/Honor phones is its Ultra Battery mode. In a test for my old Honor 5X phone that would last only 36 hours without doing anything (just sitting on the desk), it lasted 10 days in Ultra Battery mode and still had about 40% battery power left. The phone loses about 4% battery every 24hrs. Exceptional. However with the mode activated the only thing you can do with the phone is making calls, checking contacts and texting. For me, other than occasional browsing and taking pictures, all I do with the phone is making calls and texting. So I love this feature and will stick with Huawei/Brand for the foreseeable feature. That may be what the CPU core frequencies add up to but it doesn't actually quite work like that in the real world I am afraid... just think of it as a 2.4GHz processor that can do 8 things at once would be more accurate. 16GHz would be an insane processing speed and not possible in the realms of silicone.

Perfect for ppl who do not have a computer and use their phone for everything. For the average folk it's another "phablet that cannot be operated with one hand. I am perfectly happy with my Honor-8. Had a 5.5 before and downgraded in size and it was a wise decision. Btw it's a very nice looking handset.

I found a small advantage for capacitive, physical buttons though. I tend to play my games in landscape resolution and using the reverse landscape option on your programs removes the tendency of accidentally pressing them (since they are in a fixed position). The on-screen home buttons follow your orientation no matter how you set it. Making them programmable seems like a good thing for customization though. I wonder if Huawei can expand on this function?

Hi, I'm one of the huawei honor customer. This mobile brand is good in both hardware and software UI. They giving regular updates for all the mobiles even they are old one. I got only one dislike about the brand is they not launching all the models in India compare to other countries. If we need some foreign models we need to go for ebay and amazon global to purchase the unlocked phone. I think Honor 8 PRO will make a good business in 2017 market than Honor 6X. I'm eagerly waiting for this model . TQ.

Yes Larry, it is very disappointing as Huawei is gradually excluding radio in the inbuilt apps. I listen to radio news most of the times when I am away from home on my phone. Very disappointing.

Barometer is missing too. I would have bought a huawei / honor phone if barometer is included. Only Mate series have this feature but it is too big for me. Galaxy S7 still the best on android line but too expensive. Oneplus 3T cut this sensor too.

fullHD screen is already an overkill, they should make more options. FM radio is a must too for such price. Also a little thicker phones with bigger battery are more welcome than thin fragile stuff with less capacity. There should be those options made for people who have a common sense and some knowledge. We know that 1,5;3;6GB is nonsense in dual channel memory chipsets.
