HTC EVO Shift 4G - User Reviews

  • hold power button and the volume button down factory reset

  • How do you unlock a HTC EVO 4G Sprint smart phone without password? I bought yhis phone from a friend and don't have any clue how to get it unlocked & am starting to think that I wasted my money on it now, so if you have any ideas, id love to hear it. thanks.

  • we can use all social apps in this yes or no

  • Can I upgrade this phone to ICS? Or JB?

  • Phone is okay when you first get it, and if it's your first smart phone, you'll be enthralled by it like I was, but the effect would have been the same even if it was any other. If you've had a smart phone enough to get over the "Wow" factor of Android, then this phone will immediately come off as a disappointment. The battery life is terrible, and never lasted more than 5 hours outside of the box without changing settings around. Turn off the 3G unless you're using it, or the radio will DRAIN your battery so fast, you'll wonder how it hit 15% so fast. 4G isn't worth it unless you live in a big city with an antenna right over your head. Upgrading from Froyo to Gingerbread actually made it worse somehow. Everything lags, Android runs out of memory so fast your apps will close within a few minutes of being open (to open up memory)... stock, it's not worth it, unless you mod it yourself that is. I got an extended battery, I've changed a few settings and have an application (Juice Defender Ultimate) to mandate my settings to maximize battery while preserving performance, rooted my phone, install Cyanogenmod 7.2, flashed Sparksco's kernel, overclocked it to 1.3GHz with SmartAss governor, changed I/O scheduler to SIO, downloaded Android Tuner and used it's preset system tweaks, removed all of the bloatware crap it comes with, etc. I've put a lot effort into making my phone into what it is, and I must say I'm actually satisfied with it, I'd even take my phone over most others but the most powerful ones. The phone is complete crap until you take the extra time to improve it.

  • yp it supports skype n u can do even video chat

  • Very interesting, but no details: according to HTC, impossible to upde to Android 4 the phones will only 500 mb RAM. So, explain your recipe:)

  • yes

  • Dears , Kindly i need a reply please , as i wanna buy this mobile but i need to know if i can download Viber and skype on it ?? waiting reply please , thanks in advance

  • i had this phone for like six months.loved it it was great.. it worked awesome and was quick i could do whatever on this phone cause everything worked. however the service was terrible and dropped calls constantly.. also eventually the screen was sometimes unresponsive and eventually completely stopped working. then the screen went completely black and now its trash.

  • This device with the stock OS is decent, but once you flash to ICS(Android 4.0.4) or JB(Android 4.1.2) it becomes one of the best phones I've seen for its age. I run it at 1.3gHz and get atleast 14 hrs of use on JB and I've had this phone for 2 years. Better than any iPhone.

  • if this is a CDMA only phone, what's the sim tray for? someone's selling this here in ph, just wonderin' if it can be tweaked and make it work as gsm since it has sim tray. :)

  • can any one tell me that this phone is use full for prepaid UFONE sims and is it dual sim?

  • Lol, is that iPhone thing a joke? Ab iPhone 4s is no doubt better than this phone in every single way. I mean nothing against this phone, but there are a lot better phones

  • Wat app iz't to make your htc evo shift 4g work like an iPhone 4s

  • I think this the greatest & the cheapest smartphone ..........

  • what app did u install that make it like a i phone

  • why is this phone cheap! ie any problem with 3G or Internet speed?

  • what version of android does it run?

  • 99.99 at bestbuy

  • At a sprint store near you. Cost is like $199.00

  • whats the app name

  • No You cant......

  • can i use my zong or telenor internet on htc evo shift 4g

  • overall is nice,i never bored with this 1

  • I agree. The evo shift is an awesome phone the only thing it lacks is a dual camera. Its a great phone I love the fact that its an Evo, but its not as big as the evo 4g. The android market is amazing and absolutely no complants about sprints awesome 4g network. Htc has made a great phone and i dont envy apple users at all:)

  • What app was that?

  • I downloaded a app that now made my evo shift just like the iphone 4s but it does a lot more no way in hell i would ever say the evo sucks and in no way is the iphone a better prduct...o by the way how much did that song cost you to download onto your iphone. i got it for free. better luck next time apple people!!!!

  • i know htc is a very good cellphone but i phon 4s is better than htc phone

  • Pro: the design looks amazing. The display is sharp. Its Keyboard and processor are great and easy to operate. The battery holds its capacity for normal use from 8 am - 8 pm (still got 30% left). If you are a high user of IMs, this is the best phone for you. Gorilla glass is just what i need. Cons: the sound is not as good as the sony ericsson phones. the camera dan so called 720p video arent that good either.

  • hi all frnds, its a very good mobile then other mobile.

  • The HTC is my very frist touch phone and its the best im loving it no complants on my end

  • can any body tell me whts the price of this cell and where 2 find plz

  • hey whats the meaning of does not support any gsm does that mean tht u cannot use any sim on it?

  • it's really a good cell phone if you want to buy it i suggest you go to know more information abou it

  • Rm003 i agree with you i buy it from amazon it's really very good !!! the htc is so Great !!!

  • this phone does not have secondary camera

  • Can any one please tell me can i use Nimbuzz in this cell.

  • It's an ok phone. I have had the HTC Touch Pro 2 which is a Windows phone and the Shift is a little bit faster, but sometimes it goes crazy and the battery lasts for 8 hours at most. I love the QWERTY keyboard, but the phone could be faster.

  • can the phone be set to english language?

  • please post the price

  • It is available. Desire Z

  • This is the best phone I have ever owned,I can't think of one bad thing to say about it.great price for so much quality in the palm of your hand.I highly recommend this phone,HTC outdone themselves on this device......

  • Decent phone, great cpu and os, pity HTC shot themselves in the foot by making it a exclusive phone to the usa, would have loved to be able to use the phone over in asia or europe since i travel there quite a lot.

  • yes it is light.. super light..

  • hey all, how heavy is this phone? it doesn't seem as light as 130g.

  • Is this phone really that light?

  • What is the purpose frm 4G?

  • my friend have a reg. evo and it the best so this better i bet apple getting scared

  • Just picked one up through sprint, with 4G, about a week ago. It is by far one of the best tablet pc's, i mean phones on the market. No glitches so far, hevent put it down. One day battery life, unplug it when i go to work, plug it in when i go to bed. Five stars.

  • nice just nice

  • its the best one and i really like it

  • this phone is out of the world mehn...so ill

  • I just bought this device and must say that it is unbelievably fast, easy to use, easy to carry unlike the EVO. Good job HTC.

  • ok you people need to stop talking crap about it being only 800mhz. its a newer processor so its not slow. it can beat the evos processor anyday. also it beats the evo in every benchmark so u should do your homework before talking sh*t. also the evos gpu sucks really bad compared to the new one in this phone and in the newer htc phones like the mytouch 4g, g2 and so on. just do quadrant and find out for yourself. look at the fps and then u will laugh at how much the evos gpu sucks.

  • 800 mhz device with stupid 65,536 colours screen??????Unbelievable.

  • Just so you know this 800mhz processor handles better than any 1ghz processor currently. If you'd go over to google and check out the benchmarks of this phone in comparison to others, you'll realize why it is better. It's a 2nd gen processor. Please do a little research before hand. Also people that criticize the overall benchmark results in comparison with the epic since the epic performs better during graphics test, just know that the graphics test aren't the only thing that decides the overall benchmark score. The Speedy/Knight/Evo Shift, is noticeably faster in all the tests before the graphics tests, which gives it the overall higher score. And I don't know about most of you, but I'd prefer it better in the other tests than the graphics test, as I don't plan on playing games on mine. Games that are worth playing are just a battery killer with these devices currently.

  • this phone does not have a secondary camera

  • it only has 65k colors?? and a 800Mhz processor. The original HTC Evo is much better.

  • milestone 2 or droid2 global are veeeeeeeery beter

  • ROM is basically phone memory that houses the operating system, it high speed and if you were using Android's Eclair (2.1) you are only able to use the available ROM to install the apps. and ROM is useful in many other ways, such as providing you with more more memory for bluetooth transfers which cannot go directly into mem card

  • It was known as Evo Sprint 4G with a 4 inches display B4! but well it's soooooooooooooo good because it is the first, yeah the 1st phone with WIMAX great HTC

  • hey guys, im just curious but what does rom do not ram but rom, cause this phone has a crap load of it, and also i wonder if this phone can match up with the epic, probebly could lol

  • looks good

  • Nothhing new.........

  • touch and keypad, pretty obvious

  • The Processor is a bit weaker then the original one, but at the same time that's really don't matter too much. The Desire-Z rocks the new 800mhz processor and it benchmarks higher than almost anything out there. I love my Desire-Z and I've played with all the other Nexus One's and Galaxy's and my phone is just as smooth and quick (if not quicker at times) then the others.

  • Just making one observation... If a phone comes out these days, it should at least have a 1GHz processor.

  • niiiiiiiice. cant wait for it. this might be a better match for the samsung epic

  • This page says there is a secondary camera. Is this true? Does it happen to be 1.3MP which would be the same secondary camera the Evo has?

  • i don't like this kind of sliding phones.. i mean is it touch screen or buttons? it;s kitsch like all of this kind.

  • htc? hmm.. nice phone. good job... hope to see all the features asap.
