I've used HTC salsa for about one and a half years now. It's been a terrible experience. Like everyone has already pointed out ,it has incredibly low internal storage. It can't support more than, at the most, two large apps(like whatsapp, viber, Kik, instagram etc.) and a few smaller apps. You try to put any more apps in it and it crashes. Also, the Facebook button at the bottom is useless. It doesn't work. Like at all. So much for being a Facebook phone. I won't complain about the battery because more or less all smart phones suck a lot of power so.. The back camera is okay, the front camera however is a whole different story. In short, don't buy this phone if you have a choice. I'm stuck with it 'cause I can't afford to buy a new one for another year. But please, listen to me and save yourself the misery.

my opinion is dont buy this phone.i used this phone for 6 months its internal memory is only 150mb. poor battery life skype video call yahoo video call is'nt supported on this device. this phone is a pice of shit.now im using samsung galaxy sII 16gb its the best phone i have ever seen.

I've had this phone for a year now, and it has been a bad experience. It just progressively got worse. For starters, the internal memory is only 512 MB, and though it can be expanded, I wasn't able to do so for quite some time and had to keep deleting pictures and videos to accommodate ONE application. The button devoted to Facebook is crap. It works fine for a few weeks, then it crashes and the link appears to be "broken". This is apparently a common problem. The phone gets VERY hot. Burning hot, on just some use. The battery life has been reduced to 3-4 hours when I use only one app. The touch-screen is not responsive,the keys gets numb all the time, the camera/video quality is terrible.. And its no longer compatible with a bunch of apps! I am getting a new phone, never going to HTC again. I had a terrible experience.

I had root my htc salsa and made an external partition on sd card. plus link 2 sd is also installed in it. this all procedure is followed as people suggested to solve the problem of internal memory. "A software person in the market has done this," but my problem is that when i create link of any application to sd card it still take internal memory. skype creating link consume 17.68 mb of internal memory.and it also show a move to sd card option in manage application. soo can any one help me in this if there is some solution of application to move completely in memory card.or is it bogus ?

The phone is beautiful, sturdy and reliable but I very strongly suggest that nobody, I repeat, nobody should buy it as HTC warns that part or full of its warranty becomes void once we unlock its bootloader. What the hell! Peter Chou, are you listening? You market a phone with Internal Memory and warn us not to tamper with and live with it. Are you sick? Xperia is million times better. It hooks up easily to your PC for backups unlike HTC Salsa which has so many versions HTC Sync that it doesn't get detected most of the time. You can play with Experia's memory, there's no issue. You can't apps on Salsa. Its a nagging headache, believe me if you can.

Bought in Oct 2011. Was impressed by it. Then first time in Aug 2012 had to send it for repairs to HTC due to display issues. Again after one month sent for the same issue, then again after a month sent for repair for the same issue. Till today 5 times this phone has been sent for servicing to HTC and till today the same problem of dead pixels remains. So much for HTC.....dont think will ever buy another HTC in my life.

Internal memory is not a big problem....u ppl just increase it.....simply unlock it from htc website, then install clockwork recovery n than root it..the procedure u can find on web....make a partition on sd card with ext3 of whatever size u want to increase ur internal memory and finally install link2sd app from play store n associate ur ext3 part to it....now with the use of it place ur app to sd card or create link of lib or data files to sd card.....

hi guys here the steps for increase internal memory HTC salsa must s-off and root link for data2sd zip file 1) Backup your MicroSD card 2) Delete the content off your MicroSD and copy over the DATA2SD rom of your choice 3) Turn off phone 4) Remove battery 5) Reinsert battery 6) Press and hold the down volume button and then about 1 second later hit hold the power button - keep hold of the volume button! 7) Check that it says S-OFF somewhere on the screen (if it doesn't your phone isn't unlocked) Press volume down, highlight recovery and then click power 9) At the recovery screen wipe data and clear the dalvick cache 10) Click advance then partiton SD Card 11) Click 1024 bytes on the first screen (ext3 partition) 12) Click 0 bytes on the second screen (swap space) 13) Copy over the DATA2SD rom of your choice using a MicroSD reader 15) Reboot the phone into recovery (steps 4-8) 16) Select choose zip from SD 17) Navigate to the rom you want to install 18) Accept the installation 19) Wait for install (it may take a while) 20) Enjoy your new 1GB "internal" memory phone! any confusion contact me daanniey@gmail dot com

Hey guys, I'm using HTC salsa from last oct. From last march my phone was getting restarted every now and then. I neglected this issue thinking may be some minor issue. From nearly one month its getting switched off if i switch it on with SIM card in it.. no issue if i remove the SIM card.. the problem starts when it starts searching for the network.. coz of this issue im not able to use my phone from nearly one month.. HTC care people are saying there is no issue with the phone and qualified each and every test in their service centre..

Hello everyone, I just bought this hp on last week. Honestly speaking this is my first HTC hp since im a huge fan of Blackberry,yet i still using bb as my primary hp and this htc salsa is just my second hp. thus, for just a secondary hp im totally encourage you to get this hp but depending on how you guys use it. My htc salsa is just being busy for twitter and instagram, the 5mp camera is fantastic. I repeat fantastic with the auto focus technology it just few steps behind htx one x or samsung s2. Great camera for a cheap hp. No problem with the batt since it lasts for one day. Better compared to bb. Minor problem for those who are obsessed with apps and games since the internal memory is just 512bm but the real one is only around 125 mb. Then u might thinking to change to another hp. Talking as myself im using bb curve 9360 for bbm and texting, htc salsa for twitter instagram and fb while my ipad 2 surely for surfing itnet and apps and it is one great combination

Here are some more video tests on HTC Salsa for mkv and mp4 formats. Mkv Xvid 640x346, 24fps mkv video, plays fine. Mpeg4 (H264) 1280x528, 25fps mkv video, OK. Mpeg4 (H264) 1920x1072, 24fps mkv video, video but no sound. Mp4 Mpeg4 (H264)1280X536, Blueray 24fps mp4 video, OK. Mpeg (H264) 1920x1080, 24fps mp4 video, audio 44100hz stereo 125kbs, played OK, but sound out of sync. Don't expect the Salsa to play every HD video available, but it does a great job playing most. Does not work with the stock HTC video player and you need to download QQPlayer from Google Play.

Hi guys, what if I told you you can play HD videos on your Salsa. I guess you would not believe me, but you would be wrong! The installed HTC Salsa video player doesn't even play avi movies on my phone. I have conducted months of research on every Android movie player available and it has finally paid off. You can play 720p and some 1080p movies depending on type of format. Go to Market or Google Play, search for and download "QQPlayer" (free), a 5mb download, this takes up around 10mb memory, if you transfer app to SD card. I have only played avi and mp4 movies, but it also has support for flv, 3gp, mkv and mov. Should also work on other HTC models, with at least a 800mhz CPU.

Hey guys, M using this cell phone from last 10 months I like this phone it works good and looks nice, but have some drawbacks as every one said, low internal memory, phones gets heated when you charge the battery or connect to data. I want to get rid of low internal memory, can any one tell me how to root the phone so that I get more internal memory coz I don't think and expect that HTC is going to over come this problem. Have used this mobile for more than 6 months and here are my reviews. Pros: 1. The Sense UI is good and user friendly. 2. The build is good. Light and handy.Though the metallic matt finished body on the rear is little slippery. 3. Nice budget phone at this price. Cons: 1. Low internal memory of just 512 MB. Any android app will need the space for apk, data and cache. All these are mapped to partitions on the internal memory. Even on a rooted salsa with apps2sd or links2sd, only the apk gets moved to the SD Card. Another option is to flash data2sd and move the data partition to the SD Card. Here the phone will crash heavily because the apps are supposed to write heavily to the data partition. Because the SD Card write speeds (even with a class 10 micro SD) are low on Salsa, this will crash. The data and cache will always be on the internal memory. So ths low internal memory is a terrible problem. Other manufacturers like Samsung and LG have made their internal memory of 2 GB for most of their budget phones even, HTC has to learn. 2. The phone gets heated up when data is enabled. This happens on both 3G and 2G mode. The metallic body makes it even worse by passing the heat on to the body. Bottomline: Better dont buy HTC phones till they learn it in a hard way.

i have had my htc for nearly a year. with my memory card i have quite a few games but i do find i have to clear cache often. i find that setting a text limit to 200 messages per person helps as all my memory was taken up by texts. the general phone i find is good, its not often it is slow or crashes. its only fault is the poor internal memory but it is still classed as a budget phone so they had to cut corners on something i guess.

After usage of this model nearly 6 months, i came to know that i have taken a wrong step... i have got lots of issues- Pros: Good battery life, nice camera, good touch experience, volume is also great. Cons: Android update of google play is not yet available, just a twitter client upgrade is given. Memory is another deal, as per the spec he has not given 512 MB internal memory ( available only 150 MB ) and 512 MB RAM is also not available. Few games cannot be installed, and worst part is the internal memory keeps on filling up without installing any apps. Latest problem is that cannot install any app from the android market since few days. My advice is to go for a mobile with good internal memory and battery life if u want to enjoy android, if u need a camera, buy one :D

I hate the HTC salsa. If I wasn't on a two year contract I would have got rid of it after about two weeks. Firstly memory is rubbish...i can only hold 2 games. And have to keep clearing the cache about 10 times a day. Secondly it freezes all the time and comes up with errors that close programs down that I'm using. Thirdly the signal is rubbish. Fourthly its meant t be a social phone yet Skype doesn't support it. Basically it is stupid and I can't wait for next year t get rid of it. Biggest waste of 27 pound a month ever !

I have been using Salsa for about 4-5 months now.Its the be4st possible phone with its features in that price range.To clear the rumours,Video calling works perfectly on salsa ,I did a video call with my friend for half an hour via yahoo messenger.yes skype doesnt support salsa,but others do. Please don't buy this. It won't support video calling. Though u install skype also there is no video calling option in it. And internal memory is only 150 MB with which you can hardly install 25 Applications even if u move apps to SD card also. I have this mobile and i am suffering a lot because of this.

As this had metallic cover I thought decided to buy. Before that I asked HTC call center weather it will be possible to have video calls. They told yes. As it had front and back camera I thought it will be ok. But I realized that it is the most useless phone. No battery back up, if you wanted to use you should not on the data network. Else by 6 hours battery is out. It has no video call in 3g network, now the call center say me to install tingo, none of my friends use it, skipe will not work. Sudden switch offs and date reset, I wasted my money, request all never by this. Or even HTC as they are telling lies. The use of front camera is for using as mirror.!!!!!

I even compared both. my HTC salsa lacks in speed n music. while HTC explorer has srs for music n even video format support is better thn ths crap. feels tht ths one is 600mhz processor not 800. even I did couple of benchmark test. explorer leads. even it has inbuilt task manager.

Finally the here is the solution 4 low memory problem in salsa!! HTC has given official bootloader unlock 4 salsa....unlock your device, root your salsa and install link2sd from market...u can transfer any system app 2 SD using this software by creating an extra partition on your SD card...the new partition will act like internal memory and the partition size is what we decide! Seems a little complicated first but once u read the steps carefully, it will be so easy! Checkout xda developers 4 more info....I have more than 80 apps installed on my salsa...really loving this phone now!! But u have to compromise your warranty :p

Mate, a lot of apps cannot be transferred to the SD card and such that you are reliant on the internal memory only. This phone is flawed due to this. You cant even download software updates as it needs mininum internal memory available so if you have apps that reside only on the internal, youre stuffed!

I own a Salsa, and I'm very unhappy with it. Mostly because of the little memory space that has been allotted to the applications. I barely use 5 appplications: twitter, facebook, gmail, and google maps. But even then, the memory gets full twice a day, and I have to keep cleaning it out. The phone claims a 2 gb ram, but reallly it allots only 150 mb ram to applications, which include native apps of the phone, like the address book, etc. It is completely stupid to do that! I moved to HTC from Blackberry, and never had any such issues on any blackberry phones. The UI overall is average to below average. I know I'm not going to recommend this phone to anyone. The camera is really average, the screen is okay. The 4 default buttons at the bottom are not as responsive anymore, after just 3 months of use. The facebook button on the phone is stupid. The facebook app of the phone is also quite useless. I'm quite frustrated as a HTC Salsa user.

Bought the Biege/brown color one, which is very attractive. i love this phone as the battery back up is good, screen colors/touch response is very good, well built, good camera with led flash all this at 14500INR. Only compliant is with internal memory which is very low and useless. only 150MB usable. If HTC advertised without hiding the actual memory details i would have gone for different model with higher memory capacity.. felt like cheated.. some times i think of selling it off...

The phone has very limited internal memory. I have removed all my applications but still it says 'low internal memory'. My phone is not updating to 2.3.4 either. There is a front cam but don't know the purpose of providing. I guess all issue will be settle after ISC if there is any such update by HTC.

To all those who are Gung-hoing for Nokia devices, the whole point of spending this amount on Smartphones is apps which Nokia sucks in big time, even Samsung's Bada OS has better apps than Nokia's. As for internet memory problem, use Apps2SD like the other guy before me suggested. The quality you are getting for the price is just mind blowing. I have my HTC salsa for the past 2 months. Very low internal memory. A sony Ericsson with half of its memory can load almost dozens of programs from market. Even if we load more than 3 programs in salsa it will show no internal memory. HTC needs to look seriously into this matter. And the funda of front camera still confuses me. Though all the features in the mobile is very good. Due to low internal memory we cannot use many apps. We have uninstall most and install only those required. Big draw back of this Mobile. As you are spending so much money on this phone, better go for a mobile with higher internal memory.

The phone is pretty good to use. The are only 2 problems with this phone. Firstly, there is not enough internal memory therefore i can not download much apps for the phone. and secondly, the front camera for this phone is mirror image (upside down). Therefore, when you use video call or take pictures with the front camera, the image is upside down. I have tried to adjust the settings but it does not work.

Bought the Biege/brown color one, which is very attractive. i love this phone as the battery back up is good, screen colors/touch response is very good, well built, good camera with led flash all this at 14500INR. Only compliant is with internal memory which is very low and useless. only 150MB usable. It HTC advertised without hiding the actual memory details i would have gone for different model with higher memory capacity.. felt like cheated.. some times i think of selling it off...

This phone rockzzz....to all those who have problm with internal memory, just disable Facebook account and sync in your phone....it can save a lot if memory ...the fb app is crappy, it is stored in internal memory. It consumes a lot of space.If anyone can't live with out fb in phone, Use your browser to log in to Facebook :)

I bought this phone recently... And I have to say that this phone hasn't failed to impress me.. The video chat feature that you guys are talking about is absolutely true... No one has lied to you.. to use you might have to download an application but you can surely use it... The only thing that is irritating me is the low memory space... My salsa is giving the exact problem is yours... and i am so frustrated that the whole point of buying an Android is defeated. There r many important apps that can only be stored in the internal memory and bloody 30mb cant even fit in 5 apps ;-( This is poor show by HTC, leaves a bad taste Deception at its highest.....Thumbs down HTC

Salsa production was stopped by htc. I have searched every where in chennai. They are telling like htc going to change the dealers, going to fix the problems in salsa, etc.. I thing they are going to fix the issues in salsa and also upgrade it to Android 4.0 (Ice cream sandwich). And also they will increase the price also. Its my opinion guys. Guyss.. im using this one from 1 month.. the fone is awesome in look and feel.. touch is spectacular.. long lasting battery.. fastest bluetooth.. my lappy transfers files via blurtooth with same speed as that of data trasfer.. awesomee.. Though internal memory is a problem.. many of the applications can be moved onto sd card. there is no video calling support over 3G. u cant use skype also because the skype version for salsa is not available yet. u can use tango and fring for video chat. no full flash support in browser. every one should know that every mobile has limitationss.. this one also has some.. buts its u who should decide ur requirements while choosing.. I dont play games n install stupid apps on my fone.. so internal mem is k for me.. no need of video calling.. i needed a fone with good browsing and chatting capabilities in budjet range.. Salsa didnt let me down.. im vey happy with salsa.

I totally regret buying this phone, on the specification it sounds impressive saying it got 512mb internal memory but the truth is its only 150mb memory and some of those from 150mb internal memory were used on some pre install application of this phone that leaves the total memory of 30mb or less, that memory isnt enough to get some important apps through the android market. HTC is a biggest LIER, pls advertise what is true and with accordance of its specification, dont deceive people.

I have been using Salsa for past 2months now. Its an awesome phone and now that the price is slashed down its a big Yes! for salsa.. Have to admit that internal memory is less, but its very easy to move it to SD mem, now that most apps at the market have features to move it to SD card you dont need to worry about the internal memory.. No lags whatsoever when multitasking.. browsing is superb and battery way better than any other phone in this price range.. I really liked the HTC sense.. And about Updates no worries HTC is known for providing updates often... For guys who are confused with Samsung ACE, Wildfire and Salsa... I assure Salsa is way better in camparison..

Which is Better? Samsung Galaxy Ace or Motorola Defy or HTC Salsa?? Some people say that Motorola is a not so nice brand.. but Motorola Defy has nice specs but doesn't have android 2.3 update! HTC Salsa is very nice but it only has 3.4 inch screen with the resolution of 320x480 so gaming won't be that fluid because of the screen resolution. Samsung Galaxy Ace is Awesome! Simply this phone is for facebook and twitter only. Don't think about anything else because it doesn't have the memory space to be used for other application. Even though you buy 32GB SD card, most application doesn't use SD card. So you will still have fuxxxxx internal memory issue.

A Good phone, but not too smart, Battery life is awesome and the phone is not so delicate. TFT display � is no ware comparable with Amoled. Salsa�s internal memory is less compared to other models(150MB), so you cannot load much application. Sometimes I found even Angry Birds are struggling to execute. Overall the phone is good (with a front VGA camera) and latest Wi-Fi technology. You can go for it if you don�t want to do execute memory eating apps.

install application called "App2SD" from android market. This application is in KBs and automatically identifies if (any) recently installed application is transferrable to SD card. Very helpfful. Always keep >30 mb of free space in your mobile to perform your mobile smooth operating. I have been using this application for over a month... and very happy with the performance.

i would like to say that the built quality of this mobile is excellent just as i expected from hTC however its hardware is not good as samsung galaxy gio... (samsung world number 1 in hardwares) they both have same 800MHz however samsungs CPU seems to be higer quality than hTC's... its camera is very good quality, its lense is quite big for its size, speaker of the phone is loud, touch is excellent... overall i give it 8 since its a solid, cute and compact mobile.... hTC has to work harder to beat samsung and apple this year

Hi, I am planning to buy this phone, but read your comments on internal memory problem so confused. They say the internal memory does not matter with android 2.2 and above as when you download an application or game, it will ask you the option to store it ie, you can choose to download on SD card, this option to choose is inbuilt option of Android OS 2.2 & above. This mobile has 2 camera and i dont know why!!! to use a as a mirror! Video in mobile network is a feature which HTC was giving in their old phones like touch cruze. otehr mobiles do have it. when asked the call center people told you need to download some application and it will work. but after buying phone i understood they are talking about skipe and qic etc which are pc calling applications. HTC has not enable the feture in the phone. some one can develop any application for this!!

I did finally buy Salsa. Awesome looks, very new UI and really great features and all but... 1. yep, the internal memory is really low, for my mob, it showed internal memory 109MB when I first opened it and thats nowhere near enough. I spent the 1st day looking for various games and apps on Android Market and after just a little while I had to keep transfering all those downloaded stuff to SDcard since the internal memory was full. All the apps auto running in the background aren't helping either. 2. SKype doesn't allow video calling on HTC salsa. , I still haven't successfully been able to get any kind of video calling, m still looking though. Other than this, its a pretty neat mobile for 15K so...mostly, its good. Even if there's a HUGE room for improvement.

I see that the phone is priced at 20k in India. If a customer has to spend 20k on a phone, at least they need the the Desire s processor( 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon) in this phone not the 800 mhz, Customers will be happy with the 512MB ram. Now the display, a 3.4 inch screen is very good but on the other hand the 480 x 320 resolution does not deserve 20k. I hope the display technology will be upgraded to S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors supporting 480 x 800 pixels. I guess the phone has adobe flash support If the phone features the requirements what i have specified and the price is within 20k, HTC u have put sense in specification part of the phone.

Its name as Samsung Ace with difference of Facebook Direct access switch and double the RAM. But the price of Samsung ACE is cheaper.

the cha cha has msm7227 600 mhz cpu...where as salsa has 800 mhz cpu.in addition,salsa will also be able to handle .avi and .xvid files.coming to think of this,i think salsa will have an adreno 205 gpu and will probably feature the msm7230 chipset.

On HTC own site, GPS is NOT mentioned as a feature for Salsa! I first thougth it was a fault, so I mailed HTC. After a couple of days they answered that THERE IS NO GPS in the new HTC Salsa! Sorry!

The HTC Salsa seems to be a reasonable mid-end but the amount of hate that it's getting for its Facebook button is incredible. lol. But actually it would make for a cool mid-end phone and that Facebook button really makes the phone lame so I understand the hate, really. I mean - who came up with that idea? With Android you can just create a shortcut or even a widget and have even easier access that way. That button looks ridiculous on an otherwise pretty stylish phone.

dear htc user please don't fall for salsa even it look good and work great but they don't a mistake they add future that will be end is journey roaming in internet after the march. so i hope that htc guys find a better way to fix or change it for other social networks so people never be disappoint with htc.

Probably, because my LG O1 has 600Mhz CPU and live wallpapers are absolutely fine with no lag at all. Mind you, the LG UI is a lot simpler and less bloated than HTC Sense.

Yes, processor speeds of 600 will support live wallpapers but you may experience lag with other apps or services with your phone.

Horrible name, Unoriginal look taken from Legend and gone wrong with the weird FB blue button at the front, and the blue thingy that covers the speaker at the back. It's a waste that a dedicated camera button was designed for "Salsa", Should have been on the "Desire S" instead

Yes, they have built in FB chat. You will have easily access to all facebook apps. Almost like you have on a computer. Also, when you take a pic the phone will ask you if you want to publish it on FB right away. So this will be a great phone for FB addicted ;)

stupid and ugly approach with the fb button. it just makes a good phone looks ugly! there's already an fb app, they can just put it on their homescreen. i know that nowadays ppl love fb, but i don't think that they're that lazy to scroll back to the homescreen to tap on the app, just 2 clicks if they're on other page or app. with what you have shown in the area of weather is great already. they can just tap there and go straight to fb. with the button, it just looks soooooo ugly! i know i wouldn't buy it just because of the fb button!
