Which Huawei? Yes those in house AppGallery cant be uninstall & i dont see a problem about it. Using 3rd party launcher anyway, easily hide the apps. That store also updates some Huawei system apps, which cant be found in Google Play, so it still useful.

I have try Huawei, it has the same requirements, it is running android 7. The Huawei's Appgallery just like the Samsung app shop requires some permission, even you disable it still can't uninstall or hide it. My another XA Ultra (Nougat) rely on Google play store I can choose to disable most of the permission just left the storage enabled.

Thats what happens when u stuck onto Z2 for too long. Those permission for collective information is a new Android standard since Android 7 i think, user control privacy on every newer Android phone, including on newer Sony. Curiously to know what china phone u use? If u hate notch & love bezels so much, why go for it? Why dont u pick older flagship Xperia? XZ2 is cheaper now. And if not Sony, why dont u pick China previous flagship with full bezels?

I also use many Google apps and force stop all those build in apps on my China phone. Don't get me wrong, It still can use but not the best and some it quite annoying can't fulfill my needs, most importantly it all need to enable contact permission for the build-in apps to access, why it must have these requirements? I can't understand, they don't makes it simple just want to collect information?

Its a choice decision. I'm used to Sony before, therefore i use their apps more often & for the looks. Most consumers just use things out of the box, and its fine for them. Besides Android is open to everyone, customized every parts to suites your taste. Get over it.

But Xperia 1 get praised with more texture and more true colors in the descriptions of Dxomark rating but in the end the texture and colors score are very unusual low. Just like people who praise more of Huawei as a fans but in the end they still rely on Sony apps to enjoy the Sony 's experience. If I myself will definitely choose the Huawei Mate 20. Coz it has bigger display, IP53, Leica optics, 3.5mm jack & infrared port. Although the Huawei Nova 5T has 8GB RAM & Huawei Mate 20 just has 6GB RAM. It doesn't make a big difference between them. Back in the days, almost all Xperia has installment plans on all local telco. Because of the bad sales, all telco ditch Sony from it, as dont want taking further risk. Its reliable a lot, to me. Especially when u misplaced the actual remote (but found it on the other day), or suddenly battery runs out, and the day is hot as hell, u need to turn on the AC. Any extra features is always welcome. Just because Sony dont do it, doesnt mean its unreliable.

If u care a about bigger screen, bigger battery, ir blaster, go with Mate 20. OLED & 3x zoom, low lights are P30, the rest of the camera aspects i think Mate 20 are better (RGGB color science & video stabilization). Why not try Celcom package? For 24 month contract, RM98 per month the price will be lower for about RM400-RM500 more. For RM188 per month 24 month contract, they even give the phone for free (dont know if the promo still in effects). I got my Mate 20 by the second option. So for next Mate 40 (after 24 month) i'll get it for free again lol, by renew my contract.

Mate 20 every time. S9+ has terrible battery life. S8+ is a better phone than the S9+ anyway, apart from camera. Mate 20's LCD is lovely, cameras are better, battery is much better.

If you need a super big screen phone & like to play games then go for Huawei Mate 20 X...But, in my opinion, Huawei Mate 20 is big enough for me...BTW Huawei Mate 20 X has 8GB RAM as compared to Huawei Mate 20, 6GB RAM. Besides that, Mate 20 X has better camera, 40MP & Mate 20 just has 12MP.

I am concerned about three things before making my decision for this model: 1. battery life - how is it in normal use, mainly for social media, web browsing and video calls? I will use it mostly for work and those things are part of it. 2. processor - is it future proof? I mean, I don't need an overkiller phone, but in a couple of years will it still be working fine? 3. screen brightness - I like amoled screens because of their bright vivid colours. Is this the case in this screen, or I'll notice darker washed colours? should I keep the brightness of the device on maximum all the time? Maybe imporant: I have a Moto Z Play (first generation) for 2,5 years now and I like it, just I need an update that I hope will endure the same amount of time. Using it, my battery endures half a day, so I need to charge it in the middle of the day... The processor and memory attend me well, nothing to complain here so far. EMUI & MagicUI basically are the same. Actually both are good. Its just one of it are compact, the other bigger. And the camera, Leica optics just produce a bit sharper image than Honor. The rest of the image processing are identical. Hardware wise, i'll choose the f1.8 on Mate 20 rather than f1.4 on Honor 20. Both using a smaller camera sensor, so the slower the better, and f1.8 is spot on. F1.4 maybe will be slightly brighter in low lights but f1.8 result in less artifacts considering both camera sensor are just for mobile. But yeah, Mate 20 is great in low lights already. If u found Honor 20 Pro cheaper than Mate 20, go for it.

Are u sure? I use to own Honor 8 Pro as well back in the days...and still has a lot of photo samples that i took. Its camera simply great considering the price. Even gsma review said so - My wife own the Mate 9, and base on my observation, both Honor 8 Pro & Mate 9 has the same image processing, produce a similar pictures quality. The only difference is Mate 9 just a bit sharper (Leica optics) but thats it. The rest are the same. Mate 9 & P10 got the same exact camera. Its really weird that u experience the opposite way. Before that i use Xperia Z5, and Honor 8 Pro camera quality surpass all my previous Sony phones be it on daylight or lowlight.

Thanks for your suggestion. I know that the performance of Honor 20 pro is better than Huawei Mate 20 since it has 8GB RAM whereas Mate 20 just has 6GB RAM. But how about the system on both phones? One is MagicUI 2.1 and another one is EMUI 9. Which one is better? Besides that, is the Honor 20 pro has better cameras as compared to Huawei Mate 20 since it has a 48MP main camera with f1.4 aperture (world largest aperture). Apart form that, it also support the ultra clarity mode that is very useful. But in another hand, Huawei Mate 20 has it Leica optics.

To all Huawei users, no worries too much as Huawei is becoming no. 1 worldwide. Huawei will find solutions to all these issues and will regain its market and dignity. It's that U.S. and Trump administration was so insecured that Huawei top the Apple and Google Pixel phones and wgo knows, Trumo is one of the stockholdera on either the two companies. So in order to gain back his shares of stocks, he had Banned Huawei, thinking Huawei will drop its sales but to be honest, Huawei is the worlds best phone ever. Anyways, my Mate 20 here just got the last Android Security patch uodate for May 2019 and it is pretty fast, best camera and best battery back up. The Best phone ever. The main problem with Hongmeng OS will be the apps... since the most popular ones are from the US including Google, i think it will be pretty much an impossible task to replicate Google Play store, it will be like Windows Phone app store all over again and trust me, it's frustrating to use a OS without popular apps, i had the Lumia 920 and 640 so i know.

1. Yes it has a notification LED right above the front camera, it is small but very strong and definitely noticeable and easy to see. 10/10 2. Screen visibility under sunlight is not bad, but i have seen better. 8/10 3. Battery is amazing, full day of heavy use and still have 50% at night. Best in class. 10/10

If the main features that you want out of a new smartphone are: 1) Excellent battery life 2) Versality of Cameras (2x telephoto + wideangle) 3) Night Mode 4) IR Blaster + 3.5mm headphone jack (rare dynamic duo) Then Mate 20 is best suited for you, coming from a Mate 20 user myself. Photos taken in both daylight and night time are great. Battery of huawei flagships are well known to be class leading and top notch (particularly due to power efficient Kirin chipsets), and they do not degrade easily compared to other brands. Mate 20 does have its drawbacks. It has up to ip53 protection, hence do not drop it in the pool and take caution when using while using it outside during heavy rainy weather. Its point-and-shoot video capability is above average (and does not support 4k@60fps), and truthfully is not that spectacular compared to iphone/samsung phones, so keep that in mind. However, Huawei's superb fancy modes such as super macro mode, aperture mode and AI portrait mode somewhat make up for it, giving itself an edge over other phones out there who lack such features. If you can afford to spend more cash, the newer P30 would be an upgrade, with an OLED screen as well as improved main/selfie cameras due to its RYBY sensors. However, it is smaller and does not have IR Blaster (pretty rare on phones nowadays, but very useful in many situations), so take note if you are considering P30. The Mate 20 Pro is also a noteworthy alternative as well, if you do not mind the notch. If you have even more $$$, P30 Pro is the best that Huawei currently has to offer, with ip68 protection, unparalleled periscope telephoto and night mode, not to mention wireless charging and exceptional battery life (tested and proven by critics worldwide), sans audio jack.

Battery - Excellent, easily 2 days on light usage. Camera - Excellent, triple versatile camera & high end quality on both daylight & lowlight. Screen - Very good, high quality IPS LCD screen, blacks almost like OLED, great brightness at 820 nits because using RGBW. Speaker - Average, older Mate 9 & 10 are better. Definitely Samsung are better. As for overall feature for the price, i'll pick Mate 20.

Cracked screen on the note 9 means replacing the whole display and it is not cheap. The difference in ppi wont matter much especially if youre coming from the note 3. I used a mate 9 and the battery life is still going strong and it hardly lags in contrast to my s8 which slows down and the lackluster battery life.

I own 3 Huawei device, Honor 8 Pro, Mate 9 & now Mate 20. Dont worry about updates, EMUI are stable & good about that, all 3 devices got April 2019 security patch update already (Yes, even on the 2 older Honor 8 pro & Mate 9). Vanilla Mate 20 got no issue regarding the screen. Its a high quality IPS LCD with great brightness. Its the Pro version kind of risky regarding the green tint issue.

After 2 weeks I bought the phone, I couldn't update apps from playstore. It keeps on loading. Had to restart the phone to overcome the problem. Then I did major reset on the phone. Problem solved. Later on I face problems with Google. When I search for stuff, it hangs just like that. Page go blank. I need to close the tab and reopen Google again to continue using. This hppnes each and evrytime I use Google. Next is I'm not sure why my Gmail doesn't pop up notification when I get email.. I need to enter into the app and refresh in order to receive emails. Kinda upset for the problems I'm facing which I didn't expect at all. I really had high hopes on Mate 20 but its up side down. Any idea to solve this guys?

It is very funny how even after two generations mate 20 and mate 10 still can match the screen quality like mate 9.the brightness on the mate 20 7s much lower than mate 9, even with the same resolution for some reason there is noticeable pixelation on mate 20,similar like 1080p amoled panel. The display on mate 20 8s better tham mate 9 only when hdr videos are displayed. But in the ui, social media, and no hdr content mate 9 still one of the best lcd panels on a phone

Ive used note 9 and i saw the review of gsm arena that its battery life has 97hrs but i dont think it’s accurate. Unfortunately i have to downgrade my phone for some reason and i chose mate 20 and this phone has 92hrs only battery review but it seems this phone lasts way way longer than note 9 based on my experience though they both have same 4000mah capacity. Im loving this phone so far, nice camera too, and i like this feature where they can add another user so it’s safe to show ur friends if u want privacy. Unluckily their dual app doesnt work with viber unlike with Samsung and the extra storage is nano memory card which is not i used to have and nano memory card cant be found as easily as micro sd card..not a good step huawei, you may lose some potential customers for this reason, if i knew it was nano card I wouldn’t have bought this phone. But otherwise it is fantastic especially if u want longer lasting battery life.

Hello friends, I bought a Mate 20 few days back. Everything is fine except: 1- phone heats up very quick and that too with immense heat with just over 30 minutes of OUBG mobile (but I can deal with it) 2: WiFi problem. This is my main concern. I keep losing my wifi connection on this Mate 20 but not on my Mate 9. Is it a common problem with many Mate 20 users or is it just me? I have a very good broadband with 1gbit speed. It's awesome and I play right netx to my wifi modem. But I keep losing connection every now and then. Please advise and help. Thank you.

Well, according to the key features that you want out of a phone, i would say S9+ will be the best fit for you. AMOLED screen, Good battery life (not the best, but good enough), great overall camera and video recording quality (both front and back), notchless, has audio jack and user-friendly UI. However, if you can fit a little bit more into your budget, Note 9 would be even better. Note 9 is like a S9+, but better (bigger battery, better cameras, S Pen etc) I myself own a Mate 20 (non-pro), as I value its superb battery life, versatile triple camera setup (not the best, but still pretty good, takes great photos both in the day and at night) and audio jack. Im not particular about the screen (IPS/AMOLED) as Mate 20's screen is one of the better ones for IPS Display. I'm also not particular about front camera which is admittedly not as good as other phones out there (but I'm not a selfie person). EMUI will take some time to get used to (not the best UI, but much better than what it was in the past), but as long as you familiarise yourself with it, it's really not that big of a problem as what other people say. It all boils down to personal preference and how much people are willing/able to accept/adapt to new things, as most android users are already used to using Oxygen OS or Samsung UI. In my opinion, if all 3 are of the same price, I will go with Mate 20 (non-pro), primarily due to its battery and ultra wide angle camera. Just go with what you want out of a smartphone and what features you value most. Or, you can just buy the P30 series or Salaxy S10 series phones, if you can wait that long. Cheers.

Between Mate 20 (non-pro), P20 Pro and Galaxy S9+, 1) Battery: Mate 20 hands down (13h average screen on time). P20 Pro and S9+ have very similar screen on time, with P20 Pro having an edge over S9+. Kudos to S9+ though, as it has a smaller battery but still able to compete with P20 Pro. Good to mention that Huawei Phones have quicker fast charging technology compared to Samsung Phones, but battery of Samsung Phones are in no way inferior, but degrade a bit faster compared to Huawei ones. 1st: Mate 20 2nd: P20 Pro 3rd: Galaxy S9+ 2) Selfie Camera: Galaxy S9+ (Selfie cam for the Huawei phones are generally not as good compared to other smartphones out there, as they do not have autofocus unlike the S9+) 1st: Galaxy S9+ 2nd: Mate 20 or P20 Pro (they have the same front camera) 3) Rear Camera: - In terms of photography, all are amazing and great, but I would give it to P20 Pro due to its phenomenal Night Mode, and brilliant Aperture Mode (Mate 20 has them too!) - In terms of video recording, Galaxy S9+ (It has 4k@60fps and undoubtedly better stabilisation) - In terms of versatility, Mate 20 (the triple cam setup is very useful for certain types of shots using its ultra wide angle camera) 1st: Personal Preference (But I would give it to S9+ for great overall photo and video quality) Some things to take note are that P20 Pro is the only phone out of the three that does not have an audio jack if you want it. In summary, get Mate 20 if the key features that you want in a smartphone are: - Amazing Battery Life (13h to 14h Screen on Time, aided by lightning fast as well as power efficient Kirin 980 processor. Excellent for everyday use and even heavy usage) - Versatile Tri-Cam Setup (A regular main camera, a telephoto camera, and most notably an ultra-wide angle camera) It does not have the best main camera out there, but it's still pretty great. Only a few other smartphones offer such a wide versatility right now (Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro, LG V40 etc) - 3.5mm Headphone Jack (It's getting rare nowadays for flagship grade phones to include them, as more companies start to remove them from their phones) Of course, if you can handle the large size and more expensive price, Mate 20 X would be the phone for you, with superior tri-cam setup similar to the Mate 20 Pro and also AMOLED screen. Or, you can just wait for the upcoming ones coming out during the first half of 2019 that will feature flagship grade triple or even quadruple cam setups (P30 Series, Galaxy S10 Series), if you can wait that long that is.

These are my views as a user of Mate 20 (non-pro). I will list the top phone for each category imo 1. Battery Life: Mate 20, with OnePlus 6T a close 2nd. Bigger Battery don't necessarily mean better battery, and the Oneplus 6T is proof of that. I can use Mate 20 with 12~13 SOT easily on average, consistent web browsing and watching videos. 2. Camera: Mate 20 in terms of versatility (triple camera setup), Galaxy S9+ in terms of overall quality (see 6.) Bigger numbers don't necessarily mean better cameras, there are other factors including focal length and sensors etc. The ultra wide camera is very useful in certain situations. Night mode is pretty good too, but the overall camera quality is admittedly inferior to that of top grade phones such as Mate 20 Pro, Google Pixel 3 series, Iphone, Note9 etc. The camera of the other three phones are of great quality as well, but none offers the versatility of Mate 20 series. Take note that this applies only to rear cameras. As for front camera, Mate 20 front camera is not very good as it does not have autofocus, compared to other phones such as S9+. Even OP 6T has a better front camera. But I dont buy Mate 20 for front camera as I dont take selfies often. Mate 20 and 6T Comparison: Another Mate 20 vs 6T 3. Software Experience: Oneplus 6T Coming from a person who is used to and fine using EMUI, I got to say, Oxygen OS is fluid and nice af after trying it out using a friend's OP 6, and admittedly as well as obviously better than EMUI, though I am not particular about it. Samsung's interface is very good and user friendly as well, but I'm used to using EMUI. It boils down to personal perference and familiarity with the UI 4. Gaming Experience: Snapdragon 845 (S9+ and OP 6T) In terms of mobile gaming, all of these phones are great (its essentially a battle of processors imo, between Kirin 980 and SD 845). But if you are into emulator gaming (PS2, PSP, Wii U, Gamecube etc), SD 845 has the edge. Take note that Samsung phones in some countries do not use SD 845, but use Exynos chipsets (like my country), which will have inferior chipset and gaming performance compared to SD and Kirin chipsets imo. If you want to game for longer periods of time, I would say Mate 20 would be the better one compared to the other 3 phones, due to its superb battery life and power efficient Kirin 980 processor and its system adjustments, such as automatically lowering the screen resolution when battery is low, so as to preserve battery life, just to name one. Mate 20 vs Oneplus 6T Dolphin Comparison Mate 20 vs Oneplus 6T PS2 Emulator Mate 20 Kirin 980 vs S9+ Exynos 5. Build Quality: All are great, personal preference (All use glass back design if Im not wrong) Design-wise, Honor v20 be looking fine and flashy with the eye-catching v design for the back. I can imagine people buying it just for the look. Good to point out that all of the phones have audio jack except OP 6T. OP 6T has in display fingerprint reader while the others have rear mounted ones. OP 6T and Mate 20 have teardrop notch, Honor View 20 having punch hole design while s9+ not having any notches (if you are particular about this). Like I said, personal preference 5. Brand Value: Idk, as long as its not Huawei In terms of reputation, I guess Huawei is at the bottom compared to Oneplus and Samsung due to obvious reasons. I would say resale value of Oneplus would be the best due to its reputation. As for samsung, not so much, as the battery of its smartphones degrade fairly fast (Two of my friends use S8 and Note9 respectively, and they have proven it) 6. Video Recording: Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Oneplus 6T S9+ and OP 6T can record 4K@60fps and has OIS, but in terms of overall video recording and its quality, S9+ is the clear winner. Mate 20's video quality is admittedly not the best out there, but still of good quality with EIS and comparable to the ones mentioned above, sans the 4k@60fps, just not the best. Honorable mention would go out to LG who produce some of the best phones in terms of video recording quality (eg. V30 and V40 Series. I actually was tempted to buy LG V40 myself, but it wasn't available in my country at the time despite aleady being able to be bought in selected countries) 7. Display Quality: Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Oneplus 6T In my opinion, it boils down to personal preference between AMOLED and IPS. AMOLED smartphones have a few exclusive benefits/features such as 'Dark Mode' snd 'Always On Display'. Personally, I'm not particular about this as well as both types of screns are beautiful and great. To compare between S9+ and OP 6T, I would pick S9+. Samsung Displays are one of the best looking ones. Between Mate 20 and Honor View 20, Mate 20 is the clear winner in my book in terms of colour accuracy and max brightness. 8. Customer Service Support: Idk, I don't live in the UAE. You will have to find this out through your local stores and service centres. There's dedicated apps and hotlines for Customer Service and Warranty enquiries for all Smartphone Companies (HiCare App for Huawei. Sorry. 9: Software Updates Support: Idk, cant really compare. As for Huawei EMUI, they update fairly frequently for the past 3 months. Mostly just some bug fixes and patches, occasionally some system upgrades (eg the super macro mode one where you can toggle it manually, good for taking close-up shots with ultra wide camera) 10: Stereo Speaker Quality: S9+ (Honor V20 and OP 6T do not have them) Mate 20 Stereo Speaker Quality is bad compared to the smartphones out there, but I dont buy Mate 20 for its stereo speaker. One important factor that you didnt talk about would be price. Right now I would assume that Oneplus 6T has the most value, with the Honor View 20 being a close 2nd due to it being the newest phone out of the 4, and so it will understandly be slightly more expensive than OP 6T. But since the s9 series has being out for almost a year, its price would also have dropped considerably. It's dependent on the country that people live in. If all 4 phones were of the same price, I would pick S9+ (Overall Best) or Mate 20 (Versatile Triple Cam, Best Battery). But realistically, best value will be OP 6T (Best Android UI, Very Good SOT) vs Honor View 20 (Audio Jack, Better Camera than OP 6T hands down) For me, I bought the Mate 20 due to its superb battery, versatile triple camera setup (not the best, but still pretty good), audio jack, expandable storage via nanoSD card (albeit more expensive compared to microSD ones) as well as great and power efficient Kirin 980 processor, just to name a few. Losing 1% for 2 videos is perfectly acceptable. What is wrong with you? This is one of the few phones that could last 2 or even 3 days without charging and with moderate usage. Screen is excelent. Speakers are above average. Battery as i mentioned is excellent too. Its blazing fast. Camera is above average. Build quality is good too.

I bought it today, the first time Huawei. After many years of Samsung phone I switched to Huawei. The phone is excellent, half an hour of watching videos, the battery from 100% dropped to 98%. The sound during the conversation is above all expectations. Always On Display must be in both flagship phones regardless of the non-Pro version. The quality of work is satisfactory, but it must be better, this is MATE. The quality of the screen is excellent, no matter what is amoled, beautiful IPS If I serve it as much as I expect, I will not change the brand.

Performance wise u wouldnt see a difference on Kirin 980 & A11. Both are good & wont see lags on any apps & games. Camera on DXO? Take it its a bit higher than vanilla P20 score. Plus u got the triple camera versatility, normal, ultra wide angle, super macro & telephoto. So yes, camera are better than Iphone 8 plus. Battery are a lot better in Mate 20, easily last for 2 days. But between Mi 8 & Mate 20? Mate 20 are far ahead on most aspects.

Lol i could not remember about it, but now only 2%-3% overnight. Tell u what, make sure u already update to latest firmware, turn off the phone, wait for 5 seconds. Turn on by push power+volume up together....an EMUI settings will appear, pick the 'wipe cache', then reboot. I'll never use the factory reset from day one, for almost 3 month use now, with zero problems. 'Factory reset' is the last resort if everything u've done cant be fixed, as it deletes your data & reset system apps.

If your device is new, no need to factory reset. Make sure u got the latest updates & yes, in a week or 2, it will learn your usage pattern & improve the battery.

Give it time, a week or two for the AI learn your usage pattern, then it'll be good. Also checkout 'App Launch' on battery settings. Only untick the apps that u want to use real-time notifications. The rest leave it in blue ticks.

had this phone for over a month now. at first i was considering the pro however cant bare the notch coming from an iphone x and xr user. anyway, phone is great so far so good. dont take alot of pics so camera is not a problem. mediocre speaker, very good battery life though. overall, experience using this as my daily is awesome. can recommend this phone to anyone who is not looking for a clean android experience.

Yup it is. Front camera - Both device quality are average. Mate 20 got advantage because has HDR features (less blown background). Rear camera - Daylight pretty much the same quality. But in low lights, Mate 20 a lot better even not using Night Mod. When using Night Mod, S9 got no answer. U cant beat physic, Mate 20 camera sensor 1/2.3”, S9 1/2.55”. When talking about versatility, Mate 20 hands down. Super macro, Ultra wide angle, 2x optical zoom with adjustable aperture affects, dedicated Night Mod. 960fps video are better on S9+ though.

Using mate 20 for a week now upgrading from mate 9: Great design and color (midnight blue), stunning camera performance, nice screen resolution but not as good as my galaxy note 8, long life battery comparing to mate 9 even both are 4000mAh, 128 GB enough memory no need for sd cards. But the things i didn't like: -The screen notch -Stereo speakers are not good as mate 9 in quality and loudness -no virtual hd call option -no huawei messaging app which is much better than google's one

Yup, mine has it too, at the bottom. But its very minimal & appear sometimes on certain color background (not as bad as Poco F1 bleed earlier). Actually its a normal thing on big LCD display causing by the backlit technology. Its not bother me that much.

Its missing few things compared to Mate 9, but it upgrades far many things on Mate 20. Camera, performance, software, all screen designed, ease of use. No, i wont miss Mate 9 eventhough it has better speakers lol, as that is not my first priority. As for the Google Messaging app, theres nothing Huawei can do as starting Android 8.1, Google push all phone brands to use their Messaging App.

It's not as loud as Mate 9 or 10 but still has a very good speaker output in comparison with other flagship models from other OEMs. Don't just rely on reviews as preferences varies, go to a shop and experience it yourself. Hey my opinion in sort is yes it is definitely worth the upgrade. I brought the mate 20 for christmas 2018 my only complaint is the sound quality is not very good the mate 9 has better sound quality and I do wish it had a micro SD card slot to store movies tv shows and music instead of storing them on the phone’s storage.The best thing about this phone is the amazing battery life it will last me about 2 days without charging with 20% to go at the end of day two. Yep i tested it and it's not satisfactory, but what's worse is the sound from the 3.5mm jack. Not only it's not very loud, but sound (bass) is distorted at max volume, totally unacceptable.

It has always on display, but you have no option to make it really always on - it goes off in a minute or so and you light it up by power button or by lifting the phone. The most annoying thing is that the always on display doesn't show you any notifications at all except for time and date, current weather and steps taken - I hoped to see at least icons for viber, gmail missed calls and so, as I always had on my previous phones.

Just for info, both me & my wife use Mate 20. Mine is Black, my wife Midnight Blue color device. Upon comparing, finds out that my wife Mate 20 got yellowish screen. Install an app called 'Device Info HW' from Play Store, it is confirmed that they have 2 different supplier for the LCD screen, mine using JDI, my wife using Sharp. Sharp screen got yellowish tint, but easily fixed it by adjusting the color temperature in the settings. JDI screen on my Mate 20 got accurate natural color temperature out of the box.

Is it something wrong with your cousin's phone? Did u turn all beauty mode to 0? I'm pretty sure my front camera works well. Like i said previously, Sony implements one of the best front camera out there. Portrait mode strongly blurred background? Well theres an option to use 'aperture' mode, which can adjust the strength of the bokeh effects real-time and even after u take the pics. No problems at all.

I review it from one of my cousin unit. I found that the front camera can change people face become wider. Do you ever know front camera of Sony XZ3 can choose between close portrait and wide portrait? It is a solution better than none because not everyone love wider face. About the back camera in portrait mode, I suggest you to take picture for 2 people and one stand at right another stand at left don't let them stand together. This will show up what I mean, the bokeh effect is too strong and looks artificially actually ruin the result.

Well thats the price u get when using wide lens, on every other phones as well. About the rear camera, yesterday i took pictures groups of my friends, & the master AI detects portrait automatically. The results? Outstanding. Edge detection on every person works wonderfully between foreground & subject. The Mate 20 camera is great. I've use many Sony Xperia flagship before, then switch to Huawei, best decision ever made. At least until Sony makes a proper flagships again.

I don't know the Huawei Mate 20 selfie can show people looks fatter than reality. I just want to confirm that, because I review some photos taken by Huawei and it change people face especially when near the edge of the photo. For the back camera the portrait mode is better shot in only singlr object or people, if there are 2 objects or people, it will looks weird because the background bokeh overprocessing and looks unreality.

I use Honor 8 pro, Mate 10 pro, my wife using Mate 9 previously. Now both me & my wife using Mate 20, be it emui 5, 8, now emui 9, not a single problem on receiving notification. The thing with the Huawei phones u have to change the default behaviour a bit, as its more to saving battery. Go to settings > battery > app launch, make sure your desired apps that want to receive notification real-time is untick from the list. Then u good to go.

Audio is clean & great. But they ditch the 'mega bass' slider option from previous phone, replace it with Dolby Atmos with equalizer. If u want boosted the bass more, download an app called Subwoofer Bass.

It has both PDAF & Laser Auto Focus. If u watch the square camera module on Mate 20 closely, u can see very tiny dual dot on them.

If u care about high ppi than other aspects, go buy a TV lol. Its a PHONE. 1080p 381ppi at 6.5" screen size is still great & acceptable, not like, ehem...XR.

Pixel 3 camera algorithm is the best, no doubt about that. The main weakness of Mate 20 camera are the high sharpening & high noise reduction causing the mushy image. But that only can be seen properly when pixel peeping, which i dont care much as its normal viewing the quality are top notch & at least they improved from previous P20 pro camera algorithm. This is by far my best phone to date.

I'll choose Mate 20 anytime. Better processor, bigger screen but compact, camera more versatile, and really love the design language more, especially rear fps (front fps can be clumsy for tall screeb ratio phone & easy to take selfies lol). I'm in the same dilemma as u before, goes with Mate 20 with no regrets.

It’s an amazing phone from every prospectives, but 380 ppi is a deal broker for me, my current phone has ppi of 520 , and Sony XA premium now offers 820 ppi with half price of this phone!!! I know high ppi is not something which everyone looking for it, but it matters for me.

I think huawei dragged some amazing features like dark mode and always on display exclusively for the pro version! I don't know why as the mate 20 is also a flagship and its much better for me than the pro version

I agree about optimization issues with Pixel 3. However, the camera is definitely great and can beat mate 20 because of Google HDR+. You can't say that Huawei's post processing is comparable to Google's. It's not even close. The oversharpening is cringe worthy. Furthermore, the shadows are almost always crushed. And, don't get me started on the video quality at night, the EIS is all over place and 4k looks more like bad 1080p. As for lag, you can definitely feel a scrolling lag on chrome sometimes, but not always. Also, by using a different launcher you only get to change your homescreen and app drawer, what about the fact that the rest of the UI still looks like a blatant ios copy? It's not all bad tho. The battery life is certainly amazing, and the screen is very bright.

Lol i have Mate 20, define laggy EMUI? Tips - i always go to developer options, set all animation to x0.5 (because animation on EMUI slow than others, but its not lag). Plus u can always slap a Nova launcher, or even apply Stock launcher theme if u want to.

Are you kidding? Pixel 2 camera only get no 8 spot, no flexibility of mate 20 pro, pixel 3 worst some more, laggy, auto shut down, many hardware problems cannot resolve, even mid range phone better than Google crap phone

Switched from a Oneplus 3T. EMUI sucks, it's laggy as hell, and the kirin 980 throttles a lot. The cameras are great, but don't be fooled by the night mode, 3 out of 5 times the shots have some blur, and 5 out of 5 times the night shots are oversharpened and the corner sharpness is not there. Pixel 2 & 3 still has the best camera in the market, there is no competition. Mate 20 pro does have a bigger sensor, but the lack of OIS and the crappy ass Huawei post processing kills the camera TBH.

I tried the P20 pro and sold it, then bought a Mate 20. The P20 pro was too small for me, but the camera was utterly amazing. I hated the big notch and hid it, making the screen even smaller. The little dip notch on Mate 20 annoys me too, but hiding it doesn't make screen to small. P20 pro- gonzo camera. Mate 20- great camera, bigger screen. Both operate and feel exactly the same. IMO the bigger screen for a lower price was worth the camera trade-off.

Bought one off ebay for $699. (now at $685) Loving it, but I still like 16:9 aspect of the Mate 9 better. I get it- the narrower phone is easier for one handed operation. Great display, very good cameras, super fast, Huawei builds quality. EMUI 9 on android 9 works pretty slick. I use Squarehome launcher and it behaves on the Huawei device. Battery is amazing. Heavy use and 68% at bedtime get out of here! FM radio works very well, pulling in much clearer signals than I got on a test of the MI Max 3, which IMO was just too large as a daily driver. Gets 4 out of 5 AT&T LTE bands. Always getting 4G LTE in St. Louis area. Recommend!

Mate 20, Mate 20 pro, P20, P20 pro OIS only exist in their telephoto lens! The Main RGB/Ultra wide lens/Monochrome dont have it, only relies on EIS & AIS. Yup about the pricing is a lot to ask for. Luckily in my country Mate 20 pro $862, Mate 20 $672.

P20 pro does not have a better camera, however, some people like me like the p20 pro' s camera because of its high contrast and overly saturated algorithms.... Most people don't like those characteristics, they prefer more natural colors like Apple....

Yes it support wireless charging, what it didnt is the phone to phone charging like the Pro version have. And vanilla Mate 20 got the standard landscape stereo speaker just as last vanilla Mate 9 & 10. Check your source back please.

I am using a phone with the kirin 970. the Snapdragon 845 runs blurry circles around the kirin 970. There's no evidence that it won't run the same circles around this one. If you need your phone to be super fast don't go for this.

Hellow, I know that Mate 20 doesn't have the fancy 3D Face Unlock which is exclusive to the Mate 20 Pro, but does the standard Mate 20 have any form of Face Unlock at all? If it doesn't, I feel that it is a downgrade, as both regular P20 and Mate 10 (through an update) have 2D Face Unlock. Thanks

This is a much better phone than Mate 20 pro! - Norman witdth (almost 78mm) comparing to rediculous 72mm of mate 20pro - Normal flat screen comparing to stupid curved screen on mate 20 pro -3.5 mm headphone jack! (No headphone jack) -LCD DISPLAY! (LCD display is much brighter than Amoled and will not suffer from any visual effect! after 10 month of heavy use ) All amoled displays suffer from visual effects after 10 months of heavy use if you text a lot (because the keyboard image stays on the screen for a very long time ) or if you keep home screen on a lot. My galaxy note 8 had heavy visual effects after 10 month ( tones of texting ) and and screen stayed on for 5 min before being locked. IPhone XS max is adjusted to be Brigher and less saturated so it might not suffer Visual effects (great job by Apple).
