I find that you have a proplem about using your phone if you want to make the keybord appeare and diappeare, any time you start any program need to write the keybord will be shown as an icon in right lower of the screan, just tap on it once or you want to change the way of writting or typing, jus tsp and hold for few mint, and change the way from the list

yes. what you have to do is hard reset your phone. There is a prompting screen that when it reboots that asks you about installing something (it's the arabic language pack). Click cancel and it doesn't install the arabic language pack. then the phone will be in english. Or you can learn arabic.

Also, it does not support SD cards above 2Gb, and there is no way at all to make them work. Worst phone ever. If you still own it, sell it on ebay, or just throw it in the garbage where it belongs. Especially now that imate went out of business.

This is the worst phone I've ever used. It's slow as ****, it takes forever to boot up, gets VERY hot after a few minutes of internet usage, causing your hands to sweat a lot, the battery doesn't even last a day, the touch screen is unresponsive, the compatibility with programs is very limited, when I used it half the programs I tried would not work, windows mobile is already an horrible OS on its own but on this slow piece of crap it's even worse than ususal, even if it had a decent processor and "video card", videos over 640x480 would play like crap, the phone would sometimes hang completely, one time I received an SMS, the phone hanged and the SMS was lost forever. Not to mention customer support was basically non existant. What would you expect from a product made by third rate arab company. Horrible phone, I feel bad for the poor guy who bought it from me on ebay. I'm glad imate went bankrupt, so that they won't make those horrible phones anymore.

Got this phone a year back... one of the best phones i've ever used.. so many features and it has got everything a PDA should have.. i have no problem with the phone yet and i expect not to have any for some more years to come.. i am using windows 6.1 ever since i got this phone.. and i don't intend to get windows 6.5.. i'll easily give it a 8.5 out of 10.. thats because of the weight of the phone and the clarity of the camera.. it could have been better for a 2MP camera.. other than that there is no issues with the phone.. well it would have been better if they still didnt close the i-mate company..

...some of u guys who'd encountered trouble w/ U6150 never read well or understood the user manual or even the simpliest way to click the help icon installed in ur program... 1.) aligning the screen - u should have good precision w/ ur stylus, ur problem maybe is that - u have a tremor on ur prehension. or eye probs maybe likely...ask help from younger ones. 2.) arabic prayer time bec ur a christian nd not wanting it - re-set ur entire phone, while re-installing progs (in the process u'll be asked to install it or not) click NO 3.) arabic language change into eng. - arabic language is just a default language in ur phone, u have to re-set ur phone again nd never install any arabic prog while ur phone intalling its progs...click NO 4. GPRS setting when u changed ur SIM card (New network) - re-s et again ur unit, before ur phone re-start installing its program, it'll ask u, ur phone network provider - scroll in to choose ur network provider fRom the list. if not found, u have to call or visit the website of ur network provider and sure u can get result...encrypt it in the connectivity (Connection) seting 5. low battery life - OFF wi-fi, bluetooth, beam, decrease brightness of ur phone whenever not necessary for u to use them (check ur backlight icon nd learn from there)... 6. phone easily get hot - when u work on surfing the net, loading big menus in destop setting instead of mobile default, making some art or editing pics in u'r sketch pad...or running on ur progs, long callings...our phone is not equiped with exhaust fan like laptops so we expect a little heat.. the battery's fed up...beat it! see no. 5 Everything is just a click away in ur phone, i've been using i-mate smartphone for 6 yrs. now, and my phone was really maximized to communication, entertainment, and productivty. Always on the go and never let me down. One good thing is that, when browsing the web, click on the smallest text and presto! very nice - clear enough for me to read on contents. Inernet web icons, symbols, ads, pictures (large or small) are automatically save on your windows profiles (check it once on sub-folders nd delete those u don'want) except for copyrighted pics. This U6150 nd other I-mate models, i can say, iphone for smart. It's user friendly! unfortunatly i faced the same problem and completly failed to solve this until i updated the phone firmware with web firmware from imate, if you r not using arabic then go for it, beware it makes the device completly english with no arabic support at all, for me thats fine.

I dont think you are getting a great deal as if you are located in the UAE, you can go to sharaf DG and get a brand new one for 599aed. In sharaf DG they are also updated to windows mobile 6.1.

I am one of the first users of this type of phone (Dec.2006). I still use it as my main phone, and the remarks that I made are the following: Pluses+ Video output (can be coupled to a monitor or video projector) big memory, enough for all applications (128 to 256 MB). powerful processor (running applications without any problems, interruptions, etc.) good casing material (no scratch, no flaking) extra stylus (I did not use it, but I have as reserve in case that I lose the original) standard miniUSB socket. very reliable. I had no problems with it so far, although I'm an intensive user of the mobile phone. Minuses- Battery: last very little (from 3 hours to a day), depending on use WI-FI, Bluetooth, talk, etc.. Still charging easy from any PC. I have a charger in the car (the original one), one at home and from PC at my office. the relative inconvenience (the square) I had 2-3 months until I got used to it - No separate headphone socket. Castle it connects to port miniUSB - Does not have GPS (I still consider this as a minus, but most can consider)

I had the same prob with an imate jama. tried everything, like language setting etc to make the arabic things go away. the phone would even give a prayer call in arabic 5 times a day. i had to remove the battery and keep. i did this - went to sharaf dg, from where i brought it, gave it to one helpful egyptian sales guy, he did something and it changed to english.

brother you can install windows 6.1 , its easy just 10 mins thing. you have to register on imate website and then in custom IQ you can download windows english. and enjoy english and remove arabic... thanks Tarun

Dear budy, keep in mind that the 8150 better then 6150 and newer trust me for all who are facing problems with their I-mate touch screen, like for example you can't hit the folder or program you want with the pen, keep in mind that with all I-mates you must align the screen for a minimum twice a week than your I-mate will be perfect used,for any question about I-mate plz send me email to [email protected] ,, good luck

I-mate Ultimate 8150 is newer then the 6150 but they are almost the same specification the different is that 8150 with digit button & the 6150 without, and generaly I-mate 8150 & 6150 perfect since they don't have slides & open cover & else, good luck

Had an 6150 for 5 months in the past month have started experiencing hardware faults like screen resolution color depth. I mate customer support has to be the worst i have ever experienced with any company have reported the problem to them have not had any response at all to any technical question. Beware if you buy this model it is a great phone but if something goes wrong do not count on any support

Ultimate6150 is ok but u'll have to cope with its heavy weight, short battery life and evry u do-including making calls is wit the stylus coz there's no keypad. U shd consider ultimate 8150 coz it has keypad but evrything else is same. Just bought one myself recently n already it's been stolen! i had been an i-mate fanatics way back then,but now ive changed my whims and look for something better.yes i-mate is pioneer in pda era but that is not enough to convince ourselves that it is worth it to grab one... sorry to say that this unit is a"dumped" and i am irritated to the point that i have to thrown it because of is malfuntionality. it hangs for a long time and keep on reminding that my 'memory' is full though i have a lot of spaces in my memory card!!!!! its so slow.... my gosh! we are on a fast phase world and it seems that this unit was still stuck at jurassic time period (so exagge, but quiet real) theres a rumour that HTC is the former manufacturer of i-mate, now i wonder why HTC Pda are bulid better and tougher than this i-mate... this unit is a piece of s****ttt move over i-mate.. here comes HTC.

I just spoke to the company I have ordered my 6150 through and he Ultimate will be launching the first week of February with the updated ROM that corrects the battery issue. It has a 1500mah battery so it has to be a software fix. The price of $850 is high as well, the 6150 is available through authorized dealers at a price as low as $695 and the 8150 at $725. Mobile Planet is not authorized and taking advantage of thier import ability to make consumers pay more for the devices.

Local price for this model is $850, a little too expensive for the specs and frankly don't see how they can expect users to pay that much for such little features. Specially when HTC's Tytn II is being offered for $880. I would prefer getting the touch screen and tilting keyboard. But, real problem is the support/warranty for both these brands in the region.

i-Mate (as usual) has again delayed these phones. It seems as though it won't be until December at earliest before worldwide shipping. Frankly, I don't think they will even make that deadline given their past performance. What a shame that they release these teasers and then don't deliver on the product. Look at the E-TEN X800 if you want similar specs to this phone... and don't worry, you won't miss the extra 64MB RAM unless you're some heavy Pocket PC gamer.

The 6150 is pretty much the same as i-mate Ultimate 8150. The difference is that 8150 has a 12 keys keyboard on front and 6150 having 2.8" VGA 65K Color TFT LCD screen, while 8150 have 2.6". Both is goooood! And the price will not be to scary :)

Very nice phone but the wasted space down should have been used to increase the screen size to 3" instead of 2.8". The comments are right, 2 MP camera should have been higher. How is it going to compete with other phones that come with cameras of 5 MP or 7 MP?

Pdadb.net reckons it iwll be April 2007. I think that is massively optimistic! I wish the front buttons weren't so flush - they look too tiny to be easily pressed. Keypad looks decent though, it's got a bit of protrusion to it so you get good tactile response.

I-MATE is getting to the point, looks like a great phone. Full size high resolution TFT 2.8 touch screen with electronic keyboard, a high INTEL processor with powerful ROM and RAM and Wi-Fi. However, I-MATE model designers are determined to destroy the beautiful phone with that lousy 2 MP camera, look at new similar Nokia models with 5 MP camera. Other than the disappointing low 2 MP camera performance, I-MATE Ultimate 6150 deserves serious consideration.
