To skip the alignment screen, download MSP remote alignment, connect your phone to pc and run the program. just click on the "skip alignment screen" button and your phone will reboot straight to the Today screen. My screen works 50%, but only registers left or right, so if i touch the screen anywhere on the left the calender opens and on the right contacts, doesn't matter where on the screen i touch! it seems to have been split into two? any ideas how to fix? (this was my fault which stopped me aligning the screen)

How to change language ? Go to settings> regional settings (tap the blue globe) select Us or Uk English then tap OK, a pop up will appear shut down the phone for 5 mins. your phone language is changed to English now. Note :- phone should be shut down for atleast 5 mins.

The only reason would be that the Battery is not connected properly, try to take the battery out and install it again, it happened with me, and after several attempt, it worked. you may need as will do soft reset

I've been using this phone for last year its it has given me hard time, one very bad thing in this is that it looses the network quite often, and my callers gets a switched off notice. i'll have to restart it to get the network back. i gave it to the i-mate service centre but they did not solve this problem. Hi Mishal, You can use your USB cable to charge your phone. However charging process is much slower, when charging with USB cable connected to your PC or LT; than charging phone with a AC charger..

sorry for the late response...here it goes,based on my experience...when you hard reset your i-mate 8150,your i-mate will ask a question answerable by i think if its yes or no..sorry i can't remember the right term used..anyways, when it is turned on..just pick the answer NO,DISAGREE or any words saying NO..then,wait for your i-mate to install and that's it!

I have owned the imate Ultimate 8150 for a while now and the performance has been great, with the 6.1 upgrade and the SPB shell supplied free from imate it runs smoothly and without problems. I have not experienced any dropped calls on either tmob o2 or orange and signal strength is good. Regarding some of the issues people are experiencing. I bought my imate through an authorised retailer and received a full retail box with software cables phone and documentation. The documentation was in English which is the regional standard. For those of you who have foreign docs can I suggest in future you buy a product from your region or expect translation problems when you do need to read the manual. As for the device resetting to Arabic or whatever language other than your own native tongue, again can i suggest you buy a device from your region with all regional languages installed.. I bought mine in the UK, it has English OS and docs. I have never had it change language on me and when I do reset it, it always returns to English. I love the build quality but feel that since the HTC devices have come out (this is 2yrs old) it is very bulky in comparison. The screen is great but the trade-off for the VGA res is a lower battery life. There is a good variety of connectivity options including BT, WiFi and VGA out. I charge my phone every night with heavy usage or every few days with average usage, I believe this is a result of imate using a lower than required capacity battery, though others report wireless using too much battery but apparently this issue was resolved with the release of WM6.1.

I bought this pocket pc 2 months ago,and i also encountered the same problem about the language settings.it happens when you hard reset your i-mate 8150 or in other words,when you restore its factory settings.but guess what guys? I know how to change its language back to english!

Go to settings, select system tab. Find Regional settings, and select your prefered language. You may have to restart your phone by removing battery....

Hi, I'm also stuck with the same problem. Unable to go past the pwd screen as my pwd being alphanumeric, the onscreen k/b shows only NUMERIC keypad and likewise, the sliding k/b is not accepting alphabets!!! any solution? I wrote to imate.com, but no response! :(

Hi. I have this phone and i am using it in Malaysia. i have to recharge the battery every day, and recently when somebody calls, he can not hear me and i have to change my position but some times changing the position does not work. :(

The phone does everything I want and more, I did have to send it for repair due to poor signal (they collected it on the day I wanted and it was free), after 4 weeks due to waiting for parts, Imate sent me a new phone from Dubai, I live in the UK and it was sent by DHL next day service. I think the service was very good, easy to keep up to date with the progress of repair via the website. I think its very important that you register your device and have an Imate account, its all free and gives loads of features and treats. I will be buying another Imate phone, not because of the phone, I know better ones are out there, but for the customer service, 24/7 online support (working hours only in the UK), in todays large corporate companies getting someone to decide that they are going to send a new device does not happen. Always fast replies to my emails, I can�t fault the service and the phone has 2 years warrenty. My only advice is; A) register your phone online @ Imate.com, B) any warrenty issues contact them directly and not your local shop, C) use the online forms to book the repair, D) Check online to see how the repair is going and after 2 weeks if it is not returned, contact Imate (don�t leave it 4 weeks like me, Imate told me that I should of contacted them before). They was really helpful!

Never go for imate products. With in a month of buying ultimate 8150, it is giving me horrible time as the phone is losing signals even during conversation. Auto power off doesn't work at all and when I took the instrument for warranty repair, they want two working weeks to fix it since they have huge pile up of imate phones for repair. This proves the reliability. BTW I live in UAE

the phone cannot use the keypad alphabets to type a simple message.... you have to use the stick the all the time to write any sort of things anywhere!!!! what if the touch screeen gets spoilt??? i mean the keypad is just for show?? and to dail numbers only????? gosh!!!! and i can't even upgrade the new windows.....!!!! imate needs help!!! noika is far much better than imate though imate is windows based but it's pathetic!!!

i got one, it was fine at first since it was new i got excited when browsing it. yet, when time goes i experienced this what we called disadvantages of it. like, it easily get hangs up, low battery, low signal and wifi disconnect easily. same with other comments which i can testify its really really true what they said from above comments. however from a scale of 1 - 10 and ten is the highest i go for 7.

This is the worest set i ever bought. My experience: Hanging. Battery cover poor stick with like paper glue. most of the time i loose my credit by placing a call and same problem for caller too i guess. wireless network very bad all the the times unable to find net work connection while people using other brand mobile in my office can access easily network connection and the price of the set is less than half of my set and i feel ashamed. Battery needs be charged daily even if you dont used any function. I am planning to buy another set and keep this set in showcase, because i tried to sell at 60% less but nobody is offering. I am very much disappointed.

I just want to share my experience, please do not under any curcunstance buy this phone. i was amazed to find out only 3 weeks after i bought it that the battery cover was glued. what kind of company sales glued phone for �400? and the worst bit is that they are not willing to solve customers problems. all they want is your money and that's all. please avoid buying this phone.what i learnt from this is better spend extra �50 or so and get a branded phone where you can atleast get refund or support.

Very unfortumate Muhammad that u have this experience with your 8150. I am in saudi too and understood ur plight very well. Jarir will not help u, u need to visit one of the imate service centre depending where u are leaving in the kingdom. Mine was not recognizing memory cards and i got the mother board replaced thru free since it is still under WR. So I see no reason why yours should not be fix too. Good luck

I have bought one i-mate Ultimate 6150 in this January from a famous seller called Jarir Bookstore. Within three months from the date of purchase, this device is not recognising any SIM cards... i brought it to them and they were saying that its needed to be formated and reinstallation of software... after done such it was not working and was giving the same result. every pocket pc have their own shortcomings. with regards to this ppc imate 8150, i have been using this for 3 months and it works just fine. here are what i have noticed: CAMERA- the thing i love from this phone is the macro capability of the camera, however, the autolight adjustment is the problem. it doesn't adjust light in darker places. hence, you will be able to take a good clear picture in well lit places. BATTERY- battery wen on standby mode runs up to a week! you won't believe it but i tested it! i added some advance configuration from xdadev and some adjustments to the power settings as well as unchecked the receive data in incoming. i even tried it playing mp3's and works just fine. but IN NORMAL USE, BATTERY RUNS 2 DAYS MAX, CALLING & TEXTING. SPEED/CONNECTION- this phone runs fast. however, due to its high resolution screen. it automatically adjusts its speed when it should use more or not.i have tested 8150's Wifi and its fast, used it in browsing using "Oper@" browser (cant use d entire word) for ppc. SCREEN- one of the best things i also like is the VGA SCREEN of this ppc! it has clear distinct sharp LCD for graphics. APPLICATIONS- there are hundreds of useful applications for pocket pc! and few of those are medical dictionary, nursing books, browser and a lot more! XGA OUT- on of the best feature this phone have and one to beat! try it yourself in a projector or LCD monitor. THINGS I HATE- 1. long respond time every time i turn on the phone from its standby mode. 2. no update driver for the graphics processor. nvidia should have updated! 3. back cover lock if not taken care of easily peals of. SO FAR THATS ALL...

i have been using this 8150 for the past 2 months...no probs at all...even the battery issue is not coming up....just use the Stand-By mode always, so that the screen gets switched off and battery is saved...u wont believe it, but my 8150 ran without charging for 3 full days!!...it all depends on how much time u use it..only issue i found was that it hangs at times when no range is found...just hangs!!..cant press n activate any button..only solution that time is to remove the battery n restart it...sob..sob.. :((

I emailed imate technical support re ultimate 8150 upgrade to wm6.1, their reply stated that there is no upgrade. they didnt mention if there is in the future.

Dear all i-mate user, especially the ultimate 8150 user. I've bought this phone about 4 months ago in Indonesia, but now i've got a problem with the battery casing in the back. It won't closed good enough with the phone. After i examine the problem, it seems some of the glue that attached between the hook and the casing is peeling off. Then i started to put more glue again to make the hook and the casing attached again, but after 2 days, the glue started to peeling off again. I've already contact the local dealer regarding the new battery casing, but they said they didn't have one. Any suggestion? Thanks & Regards...

guys,, i live here in the Philippines and i have this phone. you know what, its so bulky, that u cant even put it in your pocket. battery life is short. camera is not that good. but when it comes to browsing the web, its cool.. i mean its fast enough. my only problem with this thing is that i cant maximize the phone's capacity. my network provider, Globe, Telecom, is not supported by i-mate, that is why i cant set-up my mms and gprs. i tried to email i-mate tech support for them to help me but i got no response. anyway, this i-mate ultimate 8150 is just a gift for passing nursing licensure exam. good thing im not the one who spent or rather wasted money on this thing.

If you mean, hardware qwerty, NO. it doesnt have. But it doesn't mean its not user-friendly, the presence of the number pad with joystick is really cool, and easy to get used to. However, as common to all windows mobile, it has the screen qwerty. I hope its clear.

its a great device its ok yes the batterie does not serve you for a long but this is normal comparing to it features and speed, comon guys its a full PC in your pocket as simply as it is, be nice with and deal with your device as you're dealing with your "fiance" and you'll be fine just be nice with it. however, this huge processing power consumes batteries quickly, so I won't be surprised if this device cannot complete the day without recharging.

More on battery life: I seem to get more battery life when network setting on phone is GSM. Appears to be 3G that runs the battery down. One problem, signal on GSM is terrible. Often there is no signal where my previous PDA would have no problem. Of course, the selling point for this PDA is 3G data service, but with current battery life this unusable. Also switching networks appears simple, but often doesn't work.

This would be a great phone/PDA but for a couple of drawbacks. When the battery is flat it won't charge from the USB port. Just hangs. Battery life is terrible. My new 8150 gets about 30hrs from a full charge with no activity on the phone whatsoever. Moderate activity, brings this down to under 20 hours. For international flights this means fully charged in Sydney and your phone won't work when you get to London. Not much point in a phone that will stream internet video, but needs recharging every few hours.

I bought my 8150 from Jacky's in Dubai in Jan 08 shipped to Kenya and it was DOA. I tried a friend's battery and it worked. I called and emailed the shop and they insisted I ship back the unit. They shipped it back claiming they had fixed "the software problem" but I still could not start up the unit. Tried again with the friend's batt and it worked. The shop insisted that I ship it back again and this time they installed a new batt. The phone worked fine for a day until I tried to use the camera. It hung on the camera icon - never started. Soft and hard resets just give the blue boot up scren and it hungs there. It cant shut down with the button and I have to remove the batt. Feel like hitting the phone against a wall and get the satisfaction - I bought the phone in Jan and I have never used it!!

Hi, but i've read that this device comes with GeForce 5500 Graphics accelerator.. i guess the performance of this device is great in processing power(520 MHz) and gaming.. however, this huge processing power consumes batteries quickly, so i won't be surprised if this device cannot complete a day without recharging!

Ok...I think its now time to decide on what to buy. I read most of the comments here and appears to me nobody is satisfied with this phone. You cant expect much from a Chinese Techfaith device , rebranded here as Imate 8150. I got to compare this phone with the HTC Tytn II which are almost in the same price range(Tytn 2 is cheaper)in Iran. They are just not comparable. The first time I turned this device on, it stopped responding. I managed to get it running after unplugging the battery and reinstalling again . Thats my first impression. The diplay is not as bright as the Tytn. Thats the second impression. I decided to forget about my third and fourth impression and go for the TYTN 2. I have that now and its an amazing piece of machinery. Sorry Imate, you really blew it this time.

Hi, I bought this device, and I knew for this problem with battery. But, this is definitely software problem, not hardware. I had lot of devices (WM2003-wm6) and this type of battery can't be so bad on this processor. This is the same machine like qtek 9000, and I had battery with lot of usage (talk and surf)for minimum 2 days. Well, i-mate promissed that during february will be battery patch. Very good device, but problem is with keyboard, there is no keyboard drivers, and there is T9 installed and I can't remove this (if I remove T9 there is no letters, only numbers) :-) Hope it will be fixed in next WM6 (this is very buggy). Well, only software seems to be bad, hardware is very good. best regards

Be careful,don't do the same mistake , i did buy the 8150 Ultimate for 1100$ in Lebanon , i didn't ask myself why they didn't put the standby time and talk time for the batterie, you can talk for just 40 minutes and standby time 10hours only without talking . and other thing the divice don't turn off the light, you have to turn off the device for saving batt..

X800 glofiish no good, too many driver problems HTC, just too many driver problems and I have an HTC tilt right now and it is sloow, real slow, not worth it I am thinking about the MITAC MIO A720, read some bad some good, but everything compared nothing too bad overall, I just with it had hsdpa support, but for me it reall has everything else I need and is not too expensive, if cound it cheap at plemix and a few other places, I will look in here to see if you ahve any suggestions

Nice looking phone. features are great. If only this phone can deliver the features. Freezes regularly. calls from the phone buttons sometimes dont work. Lousy lousy battery life. Please Please if you want to avoid the frustrations this phone will cause stay away. All my friends including myself have returned it after a day r two. Shame Imate you guys dont seem to learn that you should sell your phones before removing the bugs in them. You should learn from HTC they are making great and high quality phones. I rank it as a 2 out of 10. The same goes for the 6150. I returned that last week.

i-Mate has confirmed a delay in the release of this phone until December at the earliest. It's habit of showing these phones and claiming they'll be available soon for shipping is getting very old. Time to deliver on the product or get out! Look at the E-TEN X800 for specs similar to this device. Who knows what problems this phone will have when it first gets released...

A nicely balanced WM6 phone. Great features: 128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM, 520 MHZ XScale processor, NVidia graphics accelerator, HSDPA, VGA RES, 3.5 mm audio jack, FM radio, IrDA, BT 2.0. It only lacks GPS, granted. In my opnion it's almost perfect. Good work i-mate!!

Guys why can't u understand that the human eye can not distinguish more than 65k...a screen with that resolution 640x480 it`s more than perfect.Take 2 phones with the same screen resolution but one with 262k and one with 16 mil or one with 65k and one with 16 mil and u will see there`s no visible difference.Sry for my english. i would love to mention that i m waiting for imate 8150 ultimate since April 2007 - Since the official release from imate company will be during january 2008, i think it might be so hard so keep waiting, The HTC also has great options as well as LG ..IF someone could advice me where i can find these characteristics associated : 265 k colors, cam 3 or more MP , FM Radio , GPS ,Bluetooth,Infra-red, HSDPA, Mobile windows 6 ,and the most important feature is to be AVAILABLE in the market or coming before Christmas 2007 . The phone HAS VGA screen! And it\s avaiable at welectronics.com! ALso there is already owners, that confirms the VGA screen! The phone is marvelous! The most beautyfull along the Ultimate line! And yes, there is nom GPS, but not everybody want it.. EVERYTHING else is perfect in that phone! Great job Imate! We wait the 8502 and 9502 closer!

EVERY other review/preview i have read about the I-Mate Ultimate range states that they have a VGA (640 by 480 pixels) touch screen. I am pretty sure that is the case!

Well well well, I just read a preview www.infosync.no, and according to them the phone actually supports 65K on the touch screen QVGA 320 by 240. The rest of the information is almost accurate. I just have to say this, gsmarena is a nice website and i relied on it whenever i needed to change my phone, but false information can give a customer a heart attack, and i guess my fellow phone enthusiasts will agree with me. plus a little suggestion to gsmarena board, crank it up a notch, its time to have some downloads on this website. some themes, ring tones, screen savers etc will make this website absolutely flawless. thanks for reading

To the dude who was 'worried' about the CPU: ARM XScale PXA-270 is the Bulverde and clock is at 520Mhz according to the review at ce4arab. Color depth is 'only' 16 bit though, not 262K as iMate say.

Judging from the club i-mate site given three posts below the specs have changed. The colour palette is now only 65K instead of 262K. The processor is now XScale instead of IntelBulverde. They may have even cancelled the 7150 Ultimate. It is nowhere to be found on that particular site!

Oh yes...I am delighted that this phone has FM radio. FM is free, fast and friendly when it comes to business news! So many devices have excluded FM eg HTC TyTN II and Nokia E61i which is a huge mistake. So taking all into consideration I will have to go for the i-mate Ultimate 7150 because of the QWERTY and a second phone such as Nokia's N95 8GB because of its rich multimedia features. It is clear that you can't get it all on one device!

Is the phone really out in the Middle East? Has anybody used the phone? Many have said that WM limits colour depth to 65K so how come i-mate managed 262144 colours?? The prospect of VGA resolution on a 2.6 inch display is mouth watering! I disagree with i-mate in one aspect: it is designed for serious work so why did they use the alpha numeric 12 key system instead of the QWERTY? I-mate attempted to cover all styles with their Ultimate series but they missed out the candy bar QWERTY as seen in phones such as Nokia E61i and Blackberry 8300. Sure they have 7150Ultimate but this is too bulky. Palm Treo 680 and Blackberry 8300 all have similar widths to the i-mate 8150 so they could have easily placed a QWERTY on it.

New render of the black 8150 on club imate looks nice. Has a silver thumbstick with more shaping/bevel around the adjoining buttons. Wish it was thinner though :( Seems like a mid Oct. release, ~$650.00 USD. I'm going to wait. The 8600 Luna is nice but it's no 3G PDA :P

According to me Imate 8150 rocks. Excellent specification. It will be launched in October 2007. And will be available in India max. by 1st week of November. The price will be approx. Rs. 40000/-. A bit expensive. But an awesome piece and worth buying.

DJX, unfortunately for you I am willing to fight my corner. Any comment I make is not superfluous. My aim is for high quality mobile devices to be available to anyone who needs them. I mentioned Palm Treo in an earlier text purely because of the keyboard. They have managed to place a full QWERTY keyboard in a device that is thinner than the I-mate. Why couldn't I-mate give us a QWERTY since the device is for serious work? Incidentally the Palm keyboard is great! Far better than the inferior, inaccurate T9 text entry. Secondly, when it comes to colour screens Windows Mobile are legions behind. Other companies are standing loud and proud presenting devices with 16M colours and there is little you on another planet rejoicing about 256K!!!

@mJZx You have completely no idea what you're talkin about. The resolution there means 256K color display (touch screen), not just a vga resolution (640x480) Most of PDAs on the market right now only have 65k colors (including your lovely treo)and I'm talking about PPC/PDA with touchscreen capability (excluding smartphones etc) I won't even dare to compare Treo to iMate ultimates series. You should compare your treo to others which are more equal. Such: Sony ericsson p990 or anything cheaper.

Juan, it is you who are blind! If you cannot speak straight and true with civility then don't speak at all. I am talking about a QWERTY keyboard to make fast, extended, accurate texting possible. You are talking about resolution. Two completely separate issues. Let us look at resolution. VGA res was seen over two years ago with the O2 Xda Exec, so there is nothing ground-breaking about i-mate's resolution. Contemporary devices such as Eten's X800 and Toshiba's G900 also have VGA resolutions. The i-mate is meant for serious work. It is FAT enough to fit a QWERTY. They should have done so regardless of the resolution.

Something is seriously wrong! It is irresponsible to announce a phone too far ahead of its release. When a company announces a phone it should have started undergoing testing and the release date should be near; perhaps three months. Yet we have waited over half a year for this device. I-mate will lose sales because of this incompetence. Secondly, this phone is FAT (60mm in width). It could have easily accommodated a full QWERTY keyboard. Just look at Palm Treo's 680 and 750- a mere 58mm in width although each has a full QWERTY.

Maahi, viewing the internet in full is a phonae capable called "HTML" enabled, has nothing to do with the connection. The internet connection is always the same but the only different is the speed. I just looked at a side picture of the 8150 and the ratio of length to width is ~6.9:1, which is closer to 118mm:18mm (6.65:1) than to 94mm:11mm (8.47:1). THough I wish it werent true.

i have been using windows mobile phone since 1st time smartphone was released. from SPV Canary Orange, E200. O2 xphone II, IIm, Graphite, Xda II/IIi/IIs, atom exec, zinc. Dopod 595, 577w, 900, 838pro, C720w. Qtek 9100, HP 6965, Eten M600, Asus P525, Imate Jamin, BenQ P50, Xplore and many more.. i really cant believe with the spec and model that they r going to release. its really perfect. this imate 8150 is the phone that i have been waiting for long time ago. i just need to try this phone and Dopod U1000 :) why O2 doesnt come out with such model??? as imate is not sold in singapore.

What's the difference between 8150 and 6150 besides the obvious (the number keys and 2.6 vs 2.8 screen size)? I don't really see the difference. Why would I pay more for 8150 assuming 8150 probably be cost more although we don't know the price yet. Can someone tell me?

The guys who complain about camera need to understand this is the phone which is aimed at executive market. Camera is just there to add some pic taking functionality. This device is about a very strong PDA with great connectivity and phone capability. And for that this will be great.

JR, when I talked of underpowered cam and video I was referring to the fact that camera phones need 3.2MP to produce printable photos. 8150's 2MP is substandard. Secondly to produce clear smooth videos one needs VGA resolution at 30fps.

8150 and 6150; what's the difference? Note the video and camera are underpowered in all i-mate models. Why bother including them if the spec is not up to contemporary standards. This phone is no longer just a PDA, it is a multifunctional convergence device, and YES, GPS has become a consumer crave. Can i-mate afford to ignore it??

Well...we seem to have gone from 94mmx50mmx11mm to 118mmx60mmx18mm or about 150% larger than originally reported. Still not a bad looking phone and it's certainly nice to have a decent screen with a physical keypad. But my wallet's going back in my pocket on this one. Too bad.

To others who don't like that it doesn't have GPS, buy a lanyard and a mini bluetooth GPS dongle or better yet stop being douches walking around staring at your phone LOL. Meanwhile I'll be happily browsing at 1.5Mbit in VGA, watching some sweet quality streamed video and playing a bucket load of ROMS from all kinds of systems blah blah blah - might even find some time for some calls in all that ;)

I agree with you that when you look at it, it looks like another 18mm thick windows PPC but imate have code named this The Ultimate Ultra Slim and if it is to be just that, then 18mm is not good enough! Even the magician was 18mm thick and that was nearly over 3 years ago if I'm not mistaken! The slimmest PPC currently on the market is the Samsung i710 at 13.5mm which is pretty thin. If imate can make this one at 12 or even 13 mm then it'll be just perfect I think. 11 mm would be a dream come true and any slimmer than that would just be ridiculously thin but still I'd welcome it! We'll just have to wait and see really but if the picture is anything to go by then 11 mm is just a dream for imate too!

About the dimensions...indeed, using a bit of simple geometry and the published image of the 8150 the dimensions posted on gsmarena are MUCH more realistic than the official ones. unless they make the keypad so small that you cant find the keys, the official dimensions will be very difficult to implement.

PUbf: no, the dimensions of this phone are not accurate at all. just look at the phone - 2.6in display, with a keybord with wide keys below the screen and it's smaller than say n95 which is a slider. let alone the 1400mAh battery and 520Mhz CPU. the REAL dimensions of this fake will be very similar to Ultimate 6150 & 5150

so... it's a phone that's packed with fetures. if people are grumbling about about size and weight, they should go and buy a razor. personally, i like slightly heavier and bigger phones. you remember it's in your hand and there is less of a tendency to drop it.

I-mate site mention that the dimensions and specifications can change ;) Its a dirty trick from i-mate to bring attention. Imate 8150 = 94 x 50 x 11 mm Gigabyte t600 = 110.5 x 55.5 x 18.5 mm And by the way the size of the imate 8150 is no joke either! msmobiles had an article and a PDF dowload for the whole ultimate series and it looks like this one is really going to be as slim as 11mm.

I've just checked the I-mate site and on there they mention that the dimensions and specifications can change! 11mm thickness seems very unlikely. Just look at the other devices in the Ultimate series... the 6150 for example is 15.7mm in thickness, and just have a close look at it. 8150 looks very similar to me in terms of thickness compared to the 6150. Of course its very hard to tell from pictures so we'll have to wait for i-mate to comfirm this. As for a release date, I wouldnt wait for this over the Nokia N95. I think it'll be a good few months yet before these devices are released! The Nokia N95 on the other hand is already out! If all goes well then i-mate should be back in business with these devices and the best thing about it is that they are not manufactured by HTC :-)

I wonder what the cost will be! You may be better off getting a pda phone on contract e.g. the xda orbit by 02 -- pay over 12-18 mths, and get GPS, WiFi, SatNav.

SP, I don't think weight will be an issue with this phone. It's sheer size that concern most people. I have a Asus p525 that weighs 160 grams and the dimensions are bigger than the 8150. So unless IMATE decides to drop a hard drive belonging to a desk top inside the 8150, i expect it to be at or under 160 grams..

I guess folks at i-mate have realised that their major let down is the weight. That's precisely why they have left out that small little detail on their website! True, with an impending launch of a slew of hi-tech phones packed with features, the early bird will definitely get the worm !

Well, it's official. The Nokia N95 has started shipping. If i-mate doesn't hurry up and give some type of date or price, we'll be forced to stick with N95. I just hope someone can come up with a bit more detailed specs (A2DP?; Microsoft Pocket Office?). If anyone knows the answers or where to find them, PLEASE SHARE! THANX!

to mxNx: dumb thing to say? really? what about the screen vs dimensions? compare e.g. dimensions of nokia n95 (99 x 53 x 21 mm) and this phone. now both phones sport 2.6inches screen - despite i-mate being a non-slider, shorter (94mm) and narrower (50mm) than n95. look at the pics of those 2 phones. look at those wide keys of i-mate..L50mm? 2.6dislplay? well, pure miracle! let alone the other specs (CPU, battery..) why are you ppl so dumb?

And how exactly is N95's display better than this? It's N95's 320x240 vs. i-mate's 640x480, i.e. i-mate has 4 times more viewable pixels... and believe me, 320x240 is absolutely useless for browsing or GPS nav. And 5MP does not mean in any way better quality - picture size is bigger, so what? It's again same blurry and total crap in a bit darker situation. I've been a Nokia user for years including recent N-series but N-series software instability, ridiculous battery life (1 and 1/2 days max !?!) and extremely incorrect marketing policy to users (i.e. every phone has all features but a major one, so if I want all features, I have to buy 5 phones, or what?) is going to force me to a better option for smartphones, will try i-mate for sure.

The N95 DOES NOT have a better screen; how could you even say that. 640 x 480 and 800 x 480 are the highest resolutions today. And those are still extremely rare. When this phone comes out, people will be lined up around the block to see it. It's not going to garner any PS3 lines, however, since most people are Cell phone fanatics like us.

Did they mention the right size, 94x50x11 ?? I mean the 6150 is 118.5x60.5x15.7, so could the 8150 be that much smaller (+/- same specs) or is it a typo mistake?? They look very similar on the pics. Anyway, if the measurements r correct, i want one yesterday.

This is the best PDA phone I have ever seen in the market. For quite some time I have been looking for a replacement for my JAMin phone, and I guess this is the excellent replacement. Features 10/10, Design 10/10, Performance 10/10. This will definately boost I-mate's sales.
