Kyocera DuraForce Pro - User Reviews

  • lol. worthless piece of crap.- seems to have good random access memory. 3gb.

  • I'm surprised 2 c so many negative reviews I'm currently still using my duraforce pro and will b going to the 2 shortly and that's only due to the battery and charging port I've abused this phone for over a year it was given to me used and I can't tell u how many times I've droped this phone off ladders stepped on it droped in the pool I even left it on top of my car it skidded down the road when I stopped Idk how many times I thaught for sure I killed it but nothing sure it's kind of slow camera kind of sucks but as far as durability this is the best phone I've ever had I've killed 3 galaxy actives and so many other phones but I can't kill this one sure its got a few battle scars but still running strong and even as old as it is I can still make it through a work day without a charge

  • I have had my pro for over a year & half and love it, Full charge lasts me a full 7 day week with 30% left. The sapphire screen needs no protection and has zero flaws after being dropped many times. Don't understand all the bad reviews, I've owned IPhones and Galaxys plus the active line and the Duraforce Pro is WAY WAY better in every way. I had the Brigadier and that was also great quality and very tough, would of kept it if it would take a larger capacity micro sd, The Pro takes a 256gb with the internal 32gb and for now that works for me. I will wait a year or so for the price of the Duraforce Pro 2 to come down and have 64gb internal and 512gb sd plus the camera lense is now sapphire like the screen (Verizon only AT&T is Dragontrail) Anyway I love my Pro and have had zero issues in over a year & half

  • I just bought this KYOCERA duraforce pro 2 because I liked the first generation. However they did something to the second generation. I've had this phone 4 days and I'm about to smash this worthless piece of crap. And she KYOCERA for even selling this. I have so many issues it's unreal. freezing, Bluetooth, keyboard hitbox issues, camera is worth less, battery barely makes it 8 hours, screen won't scroll randomly and also won't let me scroll it just scrolls back up. It came with so much pre installed junk and you can't uninstall half of it. Or disable it. I "upgraded" my 16GB Galaxy J7 to this which is LITERALLY TWICE THE PRICE and OMG. I can't do anything on it.

  • This phone is a monumental piece of shit!! Crappy battery life, crappy camera, everything about this phone is shit! And don't believe them for a second when they tell you that the screen is "crack proof" that is a flat out lie! Avoid this phone like the plague!!! I'm about to get a new phone and will probably make a video of me smashing the Duraforce pro with a hammer with a big smile on my face.

  • Used it for about 2 weeks,it's really good.A little overheat but because I'm playing video games so no problem, just put it in the freezer of my fridge then out it will be fine.I'm using the samsung wireless charger it's worked so no problem with the wireless charging.Gaming is great, some old gameloft wapstore games worked like a charm because someone fixed them, some are not working because of the resolution, chipset bla bla, besides their new games work fine.Camera?I think these rugged phone will not have a good camera but i think the photos quailty is still good in some scenes but sometimes it's bad, this camera lens is not sapphire like the pro 2 but it's not important.Hope that I can buy the pro 2 in the future

  • What wireless charger you got, I have tried alot of wireless charger but it doesn't work with the Kyocera Phone. email me the model of wireless charger thanks, [email protected]

  • What wireless charger you got, I have tried alot of wireless charger but it doesn't work with the Kyocera Phone.

  • I don't like the Duraforce Pro,it has never kept a charge, it overheats. It's been 11/2 yr frustration. Verizon failed to help on 2 attempts. I'll be paying off soon, can't wait!

  • I have a turbo 2 , may I ask why u hate it? And what u recommend instead? I drop my phone alot love the camera and wireless charging . And nothing seem to compare 3 years later :(

  • And since then, (according to GSMArena) Kyocera has not released another phone. Good riddance!!!

  • If you had a Droid Turbo 2, you'll hate this phone. I'm going back to Motorola.

  • I have the DuraForce and Duraforce Pro. The photo quality is awful, but there is a free and easy fix. Download Open Camera from Google Play. It now take wonderful pictures. Enjoy.

  • Bought the Kyocera Duraforce E6762. Within the first year, the soundboard went. I leave the phone in my vehicle during the day. I went for the more expensive phone as I do construction. I was still under warranty, so we sent it back for repair. Now, at almost 15 months total of owning this phone, I have the same exact problem. The soundboard once again is going. As in last time, I have to put it on speaker to hear. And, even with that, the sound is garbled and sketchy. I need my phone for work. I called and they said it is no longer under warranty and I would pay upwards to $145.00!! to have it fixed. I told them that it is a recurring issue that started within the first year. Why would I pay to have the same issue fixed, when apparently, it will happen again in the next few months? I also told them that I paid decent money for a rugged phone. When, in all reality, it is still a cheap phone as far as the insides are concerned. I would just as soon buy a basic flip phone. I will not be getting another of these. Oh, on another note, I was going to something on the screen and when I tapped it, the screen shattered. I didn't drop it or abuse it. Just doing what you normally do. Yeah, not covered. So why are people getting this?? So, yeah, bad review from me.

  • I am currently using the second one of this device as the first i gave away to my brother. I just went through some of the comment/opinion from other consumer. Yes the camera is not that good as i expected, but i totally understand that because it's a rugged phone. So far so good with the battery compare to my Honor 8. Everyday i come home from work i still always have 70-85% of battery life, when at the same time my Honor 8 never has more than 30%. Charging is slower than Honor 8 i noticed that, but also it's a bigger capacity. so i don't complain. Performance is not that bad compare to the new model of the rugged phone. i have this phone for more than a year now, and it still get the job done as expected. The design, I love it! It's manly design. I think Sumsung might actually copied the Programmable Key for their Bixby bottom. Speaker is very good. Overall, i would always pick up a phone that has similar design. Holin

  • why there is no FM radio ?

  • Just like every kyocera phone...that battery takes a shit. Quik charge is down to a trickle. Tried all the little tips and tricks that even kyocera provided. Nothing unless I want to spend money and send it away for 3 weeks

  • Truly terrible - 1 month old, down to 74% battery in 1hr 36 mins. And I did get rid of as much bloatware as possible.

  • Have the Pro. It fell out of my shirt pocket and landed on concrete 3' below. screen cracked, not under warranty. Had the XD before this and maybe not as techy but it was bulletproof. Gotta wonder why ATT charges more for the XD if it's older? seriously considering going backwards to the XD

  • Totally agree Kyrocera should stick to producing electronic components such as caps and resistors Let the big boys produce the phones

  • Yeah, I have the DuraForce Pro. I'm seeing a lot about shattered screens. Maybe I'm lucky or have an exceptional unit. This thing has been dropped, kicked, in the water thru the mud and snow and keeps working. I got this phone when it first hit the shelves. Over time the battery isn't what it was and takes a bit longer to charge. I got rid of some of the bloat and regularly cleanup the cache. Installing a 32G card was a definite plus. I will agree at times it's no speed demon. For me, killing off some apps is only short term. They always manage to raise up from the grave. Everyday it goes in the shower with me to catch some YouTube. I can't say I'm 100 percent happy with this unit and may stray to a another manufacturer but then this phone has taken a beating and does what it's supposed to do.

  • Basically the same thing happened to me. Dropped phone, screen cracked internally. Not covered. Regardless whether the phone is ruggedized, they won't warranty drop damage.

  • hi, please, how much did you get yours? thanks.

  • why no Radio?

  • I've jus gotten the dura force but the camera is horrible I'm fr Jamaica and I've used alot of different brands I put phone through hell so the dura e6560 has lead mi to be interested in the dura force pro I'm going to buy I jus need a good deal on a new one

  • Anyone complaining about this being slow is most probably using poorly-coded apps. Just picked mine up today, loaded my full typical app compliment on there (and didn't even bother removing bloat apps) and I'm not seeing any issues. Try using applications from people that know how to code, instead of Facebook and Google, who very much do not know how to code.

  • why no fm radio ?

  • This guy just got upgrade to Android 7.1.2 and if you got model with sapphire glass and 3Gb RAM - it is very much capable.

  • Purchased a Kyocera Duraforce pro in April 2017. I accidentally dropped it from waist height( I'm 5 ' tall) to garage floor. The screen shattered. Talked to Kyocera customer service. They had me ship them my phone and pay $40 for a replacement. 6 weeks later they took another $149 from my bank account and emailed me saying it wasnt covered under a warranty, they state dropping it voids warranty. Won't be buying Kyocera anymore.

  • Calling doesn't work at all only messaging

  • Maybe you should learn how to remove bloat before complaining like every other clueless smartphone consumer. Clear cache, disable garbage apps, etc. Not rocket science. Android phones are similar to PC, you need to take care of them the same way...

  • Truly rugged but slow and stupud.... Multitask?not really. Too much Google garbage in there even the calendar sucks Google bloat ware. Would not recommend unless you call only. Not worth the money. Get a Galaxy. True buyers remorse here....

  • Dragitdownn,I agre wiith everything what you write. Have brigadier, was big diference 3 year ago.

  • It has 3gb of RAM

  • no more production of kyocera mobile :(

  • its 1st version 2GB., 2nd 3GB

  • So, how much RAM is in this thing? I've read 2g and 3g, which is it?

  • Do you have the Sapphire screen model?

  • Its awesome.. do you still want it? I have one

  • yup...surely yes...even it a litle slow but im satisfied

  • TO ALL THE HATERS: I've had the old Brigadier for years and just this week the battery is shot. Yes its alittle slow and the old camera is weak but I've put this thing thru hell and back. That's why I ordered this new DuraForce Pro. Well I should say an upgrade thru Verison for $00.00. But if the old one didn't hold up I wouldn't go with it. Plus I liked the smaller size, 5.37" X 2.69". This one is 1/2" taller X 1/4 wider but I'll take it. If it holds up like the Brigg did then I'm more than happy.

  • Hi i'm from Malaysia. Is there any store in Malaysia which sells this phone? I really would want to know because it seema like a really good phone and i'd definitely would want to know which stores over to go to buy it.

  • Bro which store you bought the phone in Malaysia? And honestly is the phone really good as they say?

  • this phone is the final nail in the coffin for me for kyocera..not only does the battery life suk.. so does the screen and overal OS responsiveness... battery will be dead by 3pm with ocasional use...the sluggishnes of the phone is a big issue..often times while typing a stutter will cause multiple letters being typed... "kyyocerrra iss a huunkk of shiiit".. likewise a delay can cause accidental clicks on web pages and apps.. the phone IS quite tough and the speaker IS loud... also the camera is awesome...but I myself am put off by its sluggishness and frustrating delay.. I typed this on my duraforce/brigadier .. which actually is a solid phone..it doesnt offer a great cam or awesome DPI but it does fit bill for rugged and loud with better battery life than the PRO.. IMO you might want to just buy a samsung S5 active and a decent case, also an extra battery and a stand alone battery charger..S5 isnt really loud SO if you work in or around heavy equipment it might not be best option.. if you dont care to sacrifice screen size and cam quality the Duraforce/brigadier is loud and bat decent... DO NOT BUY THE PRO AT FULL COST its simply not worth it.

  • Had the phone a month, have the screen protector but bent over, was on my knees and it popped out of front pocket, landed flat face down from two feet and screen is shattered. It's heavy and a lot less durable than my 7 in an otter box. Wasted money and now wishing I had my seven back. The reception is pathetic and battery goes quick, too quick. Again don't buy it and save your money.

  • Would not recommend this phone to anyone. I went out looking for a durable phone to replace my Samsung Rugby Pro, which i had for three years, and came across this one. It is no where close to the quality of the samsung. It is slow compared to any modern phone and it is anything but durable. It has taken one tumble onto the ground from waist height and sustained multiple chips and scuffs throughout it. The samsung has fallen from twice that height and never chipped once. I am considering going back to the old samsung because i have doubts if this will last multiple months, let alone years.

  • I have deployed over 100 of these into my fleet. We used them to replace GS5 and GS6 models that have been broken. They're fairly durable. 2GB ram and SD617 is a little shy, considering that Kyocera's GUI is heavier than it's Samsung and Motorola counterparts. User interface can be sluggish at times. Plays most (NOT ALL) games with ease. Overall, it's really the best option for someone who's looking for essential functionality with enhanced durability. Especially on VZW or AT&T.

  • Skype mobile

  • Can you face time or video call with this fone?

  • Where do you bought it?

  • Hi, do you have any website where I can buy a unlocked phone?

  • Where to buy bro?

  • I'm from Malaysia and I was using this phone about 1 month and its awesome device for me. I love it !!!

  • It has expandable memory

  • Got it for Verizon, had for a week but so far very happy (coming from iphone 5s user). Excellent HD screen, touch response is pretty good, camera is excellent, wifi connects quick and speeds are good, reception is OK, not great but not any worse than my previous 5s had.Tried T-mobile SIM in it but I don't think it likes it;( Qi charging works like a charm (got aftermarket base with good reviews and so far no issues) and you save the seal on the charging port by not opening it constantly. Compare to my second line Galaxy S5 interface on this feels faster and snappier. It does have some weight for it but also feels like a very solid built phone. No issues with getting and using apps from the store. Ordered glass protector for it just in case but screen doesn't have any scratches yet and I work in construction with no case and in my pocket in and out constantly.

  • sprint next month then tmobile

  • u can buy on uS market,. it can use

  • Has a Micro sd. Lol

  • Very nice phone, but it cannot be purchased other than AT&T with SIM unlocked. I am locate Asia.

  • It does have an expandable SD card, up to 256GB.

  • It does have an SD card slot.

  • That is very unlikely on a modern smart phone, would be nice if it had. Would look cool too. 8-)

  • I love it! I've had a HTC m8 one for two years and since I changed jobs to bring outside in the elements I needed a change of phones. I was honestly looking at the galaxy active, but there was no way I was gonna waste that much money for something like that. Then I noticed this just came out, I remembered a friend has the flip phone version for 6 years so I decided to get this. Best decision ever.

  • Two points I want to make. Until this year I have always been sold on Windows OS and being with T-Mobile for years was limited on phone choice. That all changed when I switched to AT&T this past spring. I now have my work phone (HTC M-8 with Windows 10) and my weekend/play phone (Kyocera Duaraforce with Android 5.1). Needless to say my first experience with android has been phenomenal and love my Kyocera Duraforce to a point I now extend my use of my Duraforce past the weekend on occasions. I had made a decision some time ago to switch permanently to Kyocera but I did not want the phablet that came out this year. The Kyocera Pro will make that transition easier for me to switch to Android permanently. I look forward to the release date.

  • just needs an external antenna port and it would be a sweet device

  • Kyocera try to save us a separate action camera, that's a good thing. But as I know, you can not buy an unlocked Kyocera smartphone in North America. For those who want to buy this phone unlocked and bring to other countries, stay for quite a while, it become making much less sence.

  • It won't have SD card like any action camera does yet it wants to rival those?
