LG Optimus L9 P769 - User Reviews

  • This was a great phone and still is, kept it on a silicon case still looks new. My primary is still not the latest but good V20. Only reason here was to check the video spec 1080 at 30 fps such a cool action cam back up. and Secondary phone I use for Sim cards in the Philippines for text and calls only.

  • My LG P769 automatically restarts. And it also gets very very especially the upper part. The battery also runs down very quickly

  • dude, it was made in 2012, you can't expect it to be a phone god like Samsung phones of today. When it was made, it was the best phone on the market. Anyway, Mine still works great as a primary work phone. My personal is a Galaxy S7 though

  • Pls by a new phone

  • pain in the ass. cant move apps without rooting! bull

  • Suddenly it says "install sim" (when a sim in it).. after putting another sim phone is not responding to the sim what should I do?

  • Lousy phone. Cant move apps to sd card without rooting and rooting it is a bear. Loaded music to sd card and it deleted it!! Not once but twice!! Had to reformat the card twice. Stopped using an sd card all together. I paid way too much for this piece of junk. Main storage space is way too small, 4 GB? Really, come on! Battery gets hot and runs out way too fast. I got a Samsung and its 1000 times better than this. DO NOT BUY!

  • My phone is very complicated if I turn it on then it says LG SYSTEM HAS STOPPED then it freezes then off and on by it self please I need your help where should I bring it for repairing

  • I guess, it means CyanogenMod. search it on web and you will be able find helpfull information

  • @Anonymous, Pls what do you mean by CM 12.1 because I want to update my phone too.

  • @Anonymous, Pls what do you mean by CM 2.1. I want to update my phone too

  • I flashed CM 12.1 on this phone and it is so much better. Anyone that has this should do this as well. I went from having almost no storage to 20 GB with my SD card acting as internal storage.

  • Ok, throw the phone in the trash and get a REAL phone. I had the same phone too so, I can tell you that the optimus L9 (P769) is a piece of garbage. Honestly, take all of your valuable stored data from from it and save it to your computer. Next, get a REAL phone and copy your data in to the new phone and enjoy! The P769 was just a toy for programmers and phone tweakers, nothing more. It wasn't meant to be used as a permanent phone. All the best!!!

  • The update for the L9 will never be coming out.

  • My phone on display have word (sorry !unfortunately, WeQR has stopped what is a problem? Please i need your help

  • how can I get my lg p769 calibrator and y dies it get over heated wen in usage or not? please I need a quick responce???

  • My LG P769 is reali slow which makes difficult using it

  • When will an upgrade of this phone be comiing out!!!!!

  • i cant make video calls with the phone

  • Beast of a phone. I've had it for 24 months. It's held up well for the 2 years that I've owned it. I've kept it in a case always and even though it's taken serious drops all the time the phone has no issues. It definitely shows it's age when it comes to multitasking but the battery still holds charges very well and if I didn't have so many apps it would definitely be a lot quicker. Honestly the ram and front facing camera are my only true complaints. And back when this phone was worth buying they were pretty good specs especially for the price I bought it at.

  • I've had the phone for almost two years. Before that my sister had it for about a year. I've dropped it multiple times without getting a crack, but I dropped a lamp on it which led to it be cracked. It doesn't have a lot of storage and isn't loud. But, its done me well.

  • My comment is for it's durability. It had every chance to self destruct as it often jumps out of my shirt pocket and nosily crashes. It should have broke in half long ago as I carry it in my back pocket most time and sit on it. The rubber cover is kaput now, but my LG and me are still clicking and aticking.

  • my fne just stopped displaying, if i turn it on it displays LG and then just no more display. whats the problem. it also heats very much

  • i was told that my LG P769 was compatible for hotspot but i have to have an 30,40,or 50 dollar plan to get hotspot.i need some advice

  • I've had this phone for two years now, it was my first /smart/phone. I honestly wouldn't recommend it, with only 1GB of RAM it can get pretty slow especially with applications updating to heavier design trends. It is sturdy though, I've dropped it plenty of times and the screen has yet to crack on me. The speaker isn't very loud, and the back placement makes it even worse. I don't care much about the camera, but if I had to comment I'd say it's mediocre. The display isn't terrible so to say but it isn't amazing. LG also branded the phone on the front and the back, which may or may not matter to some. The user interface is subjective, I personally don't like what LG did with it and wish they kept it more stock. The statusbar in particular irks me with its inconsistency. The battery tends to drain quickly when streaming or w/ local playback, but manages pretty decent stand-by time. If you use your phone only lightly throughout the day then you shouldn't have a problem. This phone hasn't gotten an update in the longest and won't be getting KitKat or anything following. The LG-P769 has nearly no ROM support and unlocking the bootloader is a real complex pain. It can be rooted (I used some shady foreign tool), but doesn't have much compatibility with customization-related utilities.

  • I have same problem with my LG phone it restarts automatically, may be its a battery fault.

  • My Lg P769 always turn off automatically..what should I do Please

  • I also wanna buy lg p769 please what you advice

  • It is always become hot when am browsing

  • My phone had some problems like speaker complaint mike complaint and some time sim will not connect and also mobile data prblm its not working properly,

  • apart from apps storage problem in SD card, it's really a good phone

  • its gud and i enjoy it very much. U can consult me if u have problem. Tank u

  • its a good phone, no doubt...

  • It lags a lot and even if you have a sd card in it, it doesnt add more space for you to install apps, the sd card is only for files not apps, i rate 2/5

  • My LG Optimus L9 was highly recommended by T-Mobile. I've had it replaced three times in two years, and the T-Mobile store assures me it is functioning properly. In my opinion, it's a $700 piece of junk.

  • Hello folks, I just learned how to move things to the sd card... Settings-File Manager-sdcard0, hold down the file you want to move, tap move, choose external card, press paste... it is a lot more work, but I now have a faster phone and my music back!!!

  • You need to acquire Root, then there's a script out there that will trick the phone into swapping storages, so your SDCard becomes your main storage for apps and etc... Found that out the other day.

  • You must not have the model phone that were talking about here because the L9 doesnt give you that option dear.

  • Hey...how can i move my apps to sd card. i have no internal space but sd card is empty!!! My system is troubleshooting because of this. Rush, can somebody help.

  • Tried but didn't work

  • Wow, this comment has been very helpful, I came to check reviews but I most get just Troubleshooting requests... Thank you bro, I was going to purchase this, but I always use custom roms... this is a no go then.

  • i purchased unlock code for metropcs network, when i dial 2945#*769# igot a hidden showing, options in following order 1.network lock 2. service provider lock 3. network subset lock 4. corporate lock 5. sim/usim lock they asked me to enter code in option 1 but it is showing phone is not personalized some body help pls

  • This Phone Has Low Memory And Low Volume. I'm Going Back To My Galaxy.

  • It's a decent Mid Range phone, but with entry-level performance. The crippled OS that LG thought it'd be cool to force us to use hogs WAY to much RAM, causing this phone to run slow at best. I'd imagine just how smooth this thing could run if LG weren't such $*%#s about it and let us customize what we spent our hard earned money on. Let's go over the Pros n Cons. Pros: -The design is nicely centered and looks nice -Decent Specs, Runs Minecraft PE 0.9 infinite well -Gaming performance is decent (Whatever you can add into that tiny space of course) -Decent physical size, is thin -Pretty good video camera -Decent pictures, though could use more saturation -Physical home button is nice -Front facing cameras for selfies and etc. Cons -LGsystemUI sucks. There's absolutely no need for it. it's essentialy a bloated version of stock with more cons than benefits than it's worth. Just having NOTHING running except just the basics, 678MB of RAM is USED UP! leaving BARELY ANYTHING LEFT FOR THE USER. (a stock CM ROM would barely take up 256 tops) Making this thing run SLOW all the time..... It's like I'm using a $50 Net10 phone.. The system UI is THAT laggy... -EMULATED INTERNAL STORAGE?! The thing i HATE most about this phone, the internal storage is actually bound to the Android File system, which can cause potential problems..... One being running out of space just like that because TOO many programs and games use internal storage as default, which most cases cannot be switched. This causes problems, and cripples your experience way too much, leading to the very common and infamous "Insufficient Storage Available" message. The worst of it all... -LOCKED BOOTLOADER. This means that it's WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. this means NO! you cannot use CM, AOKP, PARANOID, PACMAN or ANY CUSTOM FIRMWARE. You're stuck with version 4.1.x and that's all you'll ever get. While there are some people who managed to unlock it, the trouble is WAY more than it's worth, as more and more users report failures and are stuck with a semi-bricked device. If you are someone who likes to use custom ROMS and etc, and are/were contemplating on getting this, Get something else.... Do some research and make a better choice. You'll thank me in the long run.. and if you JUST bought it, you should return it and just do research on other similarily priced phones. You'll likely find something that may be faster, and also a bootloader that isn't impossible to unlock. To round it up, It's yet another phone that's great for the basic user(i.e. never change launchers, play games, or many apps.) but if you're like me, and of course want an at least somewhat snappy experience, then LOOK ELSEWHERE. My next phone will NOT have a locked bootloader.... because I'll make SURE of it.

  • How do I transfer apps or data, etc to my microSD card. internal storage isn't working out. Not enough memory either. I am very disappointed. For the amount I paid for this phone (full price) when it first came out, I shouldn't have these problems and limitations. I purchased a new phone at full price, and it was quite expensive. Help! Can the microSD card be used for storage or can it be used at all??? If not, I wasted a ton of money ey buying your product. I should be compensated.

  • how can i see my old massage

  • What a $&@#!,he said he couldn't move apps to SD card and yet you still tell him to buy one. Duh

  • This is a good phone but have two things I hate: 1- low memory and 2- front-facing camera sucks. 😕 And oh, it has 4.1.2 jellybean, not gingerbread.

  • how can i turn of speak ?

  • Hello please tell why my phne lg l9 does'nt want to unlock....and it gives me de message of'NO SERVICES'

  • *locked bootloaders. Sorry.

  • A dev over at xda, kuma82, made a custom rom for unlocked bootloaders. He managed to make it so that you can install apps to sd. There is a catch....you can't unmount to correctly remove the card. So that means you risk data corruption if you remove without unmounting. Your choice. I tried it and switched back to stock after my photos got messed up.

  • Correct why is sd slot even made? Featured

  • Factory reset

  • By the way, guys. Just to let you know, not only did my authentication error go away, the audio got a significant boost. I was just watching a movie using MXPlayer and the people in the other room heard everything! Mind you...I work in a call center so there you have it!

  • Ugh...to make things worse, not only has LG stopped updates at 4.1.2, now the T-Mobile stock firmware is giving me authentication errors when trying to connect to my personal WiFi. That problem got fixed by me flashing a Canadian Wind Mobile kdz using the offline flash tool. That is unacceptable support on the part of LG.

  • why does the phone get so hot sometimes and often destroys the sd card

  • No, it's not LTE capable. The Optimus F6 is LTE capable but if you are into custom roms, you're gonna be disappointed. You'll be luck enough to root it.

  • does this phone use 4g lte networks ?

  • what type of songs are you downloading that are 145mb.... are you crazy?

  • One of the Best mobile in this price range with the Best features. using it for 6 months. simply awesome mobile. I love it !! yes u can root it with with VRoot; very easy but root isn't needed as u will not be able to move apps to SD Card even after that because that's the most anticipated function bcoz mobile's apps installing memory itself is only 2GB which can't be extended...so dats the only draw back :( not actually a draw back though.

  • I love this phone, have it for a year now...however... I have a power/lock button problem on my lg l9...power button is not working, but when i restart my phone it works for like an hour but then it stops working again. Sometimes the screen does that too...please help with this...can rooting the phone help? i have 4.1.2 android. thank you in advance :)

  • so I rooted my LG l9 I just don't know what apps are bloatware I don't want to mess up this phone...does anybody happen to have a list of said bloatware?

  • I thought the same, but in fact you cant. And after doing extensive research, the only way that Dev online found was to root it. There is actually a really interesting article, that says most companies are going to start doing that with their phones, in the future. And this article named this phone as well as a few others, as a comparison.

  • Hello!! Previous people Go to setting then to APPS click on app select MOVE TO SD CARD!!!

  • this is one of the biggest waste of money ever. There's no room on the phone and no way to move apps to sd card. I hate this with a passion this is a terrible phone once again.

  • You need to get rooted and remove all of the bloatware.

  • I can't instal any app to SD card( On another phones i can instal apps to SD card. Why? The biggest part of space use apps.

  • LOL,,,,145mB and you expect to do what with it? You cant fit 1 song onto that space.... Delete some garbage and clear up some space or get an SD card and move the stuff to there.

  • I have 145mb free space, but i can't instal any program!? Tell me why. And what to do? I haven't root.

  • Issac, Sounds like your battery is crapping out.

  • fine

  • Sounds like a defective battery, dude. Sorry.

  • Please I have a problems with LG Optimus L9 P769.The phone just shut on and off without even when is idle. The battery also becomes very hot.It is like driving a car and you turn on signal light on and off. Please could you tell me what to do I bought this phone less than 2months.

  • Actually you can, using a certain technique. But this ONLY WORKS FOR ROOTED ANDROIDS! If you're not rooted, You can't free more memory. You'd also need an SDHC card for this process.

  • How can i increase the Internal Memory?

  • Moving Apps to SD??? In some LG phones like the L9 you cannot move or install apps to your Sd external card, thats a pain. you can only do this to apps that can use or not use the internal memory. Like for example, A Theme or Launcher app can be moved to your SD card and wont eat any space in your Internal Memory however if the app is moved or installed in your SD card then you'll just have to re- install it every time the phone is turned on or off so its better for these apps to stay in your internal memory. But there are some techniques or hacks that some people do inorder to do this action, but I believe it will only void your warranty and LG does not suggest their users to even Root their phones. If you wish to install more HD games and Apps then better buy a new phone with high RAM and Internal memory...

  • Surgery is an accurate description of the unlocking process. I have never had so much trouble unlocking a bootloader and I've unlocked some difficult phones. I may give it one more shot but I think there is a 99.9% chance of it not working. It doesn't help that LG removed fastboot.

  • Yes it's like this out of the box. However you can do the external 2 internal swap Very easily. Mine now has 32gb internal memory. The only complaint is some people are unable to unlock the bootloader, plus the process to do it is like surgery since you must flash a p760 kdz which inverts the screen and messes your touchscreen up. Once unlocked you flash a zip file to fix the screen issues. You are also able to oc the cpu to 1.2ghz which makes it fly!

  • Very bad service by lg dont buy lg products.Lg l9 was my first smartphone, within a week I realised that the battery backup is very poor,Lasts 3 hours max.I have been to the customer care centres(3 of them) 7-8 times over 5 months still my issue has not been resolved :(

  • IS this phone compatible for Yahoo Messenger Video Call? TIA

  • damn you lg....for locking the bootloader!!!!!!!!

  • You can't move apps to SD card because of Jellybean not because of the phone. God. You can't move apps to SD on Galaxy S3 or HTC One either. It's because moving apps to sd card caused a multitude of problems. Don't blame LG (Do blame them for the shitty memory though.)

  • I'm not a developer. I just have a lot of experience with unlocking bootloaders and rooting. I got this device thinking it would be a step up from my previous LG G2X. I am so wrong. I want to toss this into a wood chipper. If you need help though, there is a few guys over at xda that are much more knowledgable. There's omgbossis21, kuma82 and Lelus. Good luck!

  • I agree with Cyclohexane - avoid the LG Optimus L9 P769. I find it to be more frustrating than it is worth - touchscreen inconsistencies compounded frustration. I also have an LG flatscreen that is excellent but will return this LG Optimus L9 P769.

  • Just emailed you. Plz help. Hopelessly disgusted with this phone

  • Are you a product developer for LG? Im asking because i need help with this stupid phone and im scared i will mess it up if i do it alone. Any suggestions?

  • Avoid this phone at all costs. It is a bad design due to the inability to move apps to the SD card and coming stock with such a small internal memory. It makes it impossible to enjoy many apps after you have used for awhile (texts, emails, contacts, fill up). I am not going to go through all the steps and risk not being able to use phone, lose all contacts and apps (I have older version I want to keep and will lose with format), trouble of formatting / moving contacts, etc. I have had older phones (and cheaper) that could move apps to SD card easily. What kind of moron at LG decided to do this? Was it motivated by greed? I'll never purchase another LG product again (I have TVs and this is second phone). This turned me off forever. I'd love a return on my money but they won't give. I didn't know this was a problem until it was to late. Take my advice, avoid like the plague.

  • Go to xda and install LGPwn.apk to get rooted. Afterwards, you can use one of methods to doedex and zipalign. Then, use root uninstall to get rid of all that useless bloatware.

  • does it have nfc? bcoz some specs mentioned that all versions of lg have nfc

  • When i installed HD game in external card anroide/obb then its not work then i installed in phone memory then its working but some game i no play because phone memonry is to low Please Idea what i do ?

  • its very stylish and wonderful phone u will fell in love with this phone when u hold this phone in ur hand

  • This phone has great potential once the bootloader is unlocked. That's if you can perform that miracle using a P760 kdz, the LG Flasing Tool, several modified files and lots of luck...and time. If you're a person that receives a lot of calls, then this is just not a possible option. Look for another phone.

  • Just go to xda and install LGwn.apk. It will alter the built in restore and root the L9. After that, it would be a good idea to install SuperSU first to load the su binary and then switch to Superuser. After going into the SuperSU settings to switch superuser apps, you may have to install Superuser again. Finally install Busybox. I would use xUltimate to extract both the framework and app folders in order to deodex and zipalign....but that's up to you.

  • galaxy ace 2 has ips screen too but samsung names it lps its the same and galaxy ace is cheaper and the camera of it is awesome

  • galaxy ace 2 has ips screen too but samsung names it lps its the same and galaxy ace is cheaper and the camera of it is awesome

  • LG Optimus L9 P769 is the best than ace 2,very slim & good performance..also it has IPS display tech..

  • LG Optimus P769 or Samsung Galaxy Ace 2??? I need answers! thanks

  • isn 8 camera?!!

  • Does it work in Spain?

  • Can you expand on the method you used to root? I am not necessarily interested in loading a new rom on this device, but I *am* interested in removing all the bloat.....

  • guys send me lg pc suite download link pls.....thx :(

  • Great news....a dev over at xda is coming VERY close to unlocking the bootloader! We may see ParanoidAndroid or Slimbean running on this device!

  • UPDATE: I have managed so far to brick my phone, mirrored the touchscreen and flash back to stock to get it replaced...LMAO. I'm learning though. So far, I have deodexed using adb with su, used the easy root and removed bloatware safely this time. All that's left, is to theme this baby. Good deal and I will never regret it! Pretty touch cookie to crack, though!

  • I must say, for such a cheap phone, lots of damn good bang for the buck. Running a custom kernal on mine and its stable at 1400 mhz.

  • I have noticed that LG's method of updates is similar to adding a layer over the existing OS. No actual modifactions. I'm telling you by experience, dude. My guess has to do with the APIs not being conigured properly thus making them now useless. I have decided to void my warranty and scrub this phone clean and start from scratch using the update.zip method.

  • Oh, and cmahendra over at XDA is the man. Many thanks to him.

  • UPDATE: Never ever remove LG software. I just softbricked my phone...LOL. No biggie...I'm known as RicAndroid over at XDA and have made custom roms for the Sidekick 4G so this will be a challenge. I already unpacked the system.img and getting ready to manually flash using the awesome flashboot tool once I create the update.zip file. This may be the start of themed roms for the LG L9, guys! Wish me luck!

  • Just got this phone yesterday! Used the Jelly Bean Easy Root method on XDA and got rid of all the bloatware. WARNING...once removed, you cannot get them back. Not even with a factory reset. Got this baby looking and behaving like a Nexus...well, there are some minor differences. Like with the settings menu....white instead of black. Not the complete Holo look. But after installing Nova Launcher, it looks sexy and behaves great. It's no Galaxy S4 or Xperia Z, but if you're looking for a nice 4.5" smartphone at a low price, you can't beat it. Waiting for custom roms now. :-)

  • incredible cell in amzng price wd amzng speed

  • Hey guys. Help me out. I updated my L9 to Jellybean 4.1.2, now alot of my stuff isn't working. Like I can't lock the phone, it wont unlock again, you have to reset and reboot it, so it's permanently on now, can't enable sleep screen. Also, my camera doesn't even start up. My google chrome doesn't start. Some games does'nt start. What can it be? I thought it might be java. I'm sending it back but I'm still curios. Thanks, and I'm in South Africa.

  • is this android phone/

  • Man...thanks to the guys over at XDA, you can make this look and behave like a Nexus 4! True, there are no ParanoidAndroid or other customs but just need to follow the steps to root and install CWM. You can easily use ES File Manager to change the boot animation and add a add blocking host file. You can even go all the way and replace the ringtones and notifications. Once that's out of the way, install the JellyBe4n'ish theme and use root uninstaller to get rid of the bloat. I may wind up getting this after all. The price is just too good to pass up.

  • HI, need to confirm how can whatsapp data directly store to sd card instead of phone memory pl help

  • hi can anyone tell me about OTG cable... can we use OTG cable for LG L9

  • i didnt get any update bro.......how to upgrade to Jellybean...and how to root bro pls tel me :(

  • pls send me link how to root :(

  • If you upgrade your OS to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean moving apps to SD will be integrated in the system

  • This weekend at Fry's electronics you can buy it for $150 but you have to unlock it.

  • Apps to sd card is possible if your willing to spend some time with ur phone for rooting etc.

  • Battery backup is decent for moderate to heavy usage it gives one day of backup. without use it gives standby of several days. PS 2G uses less battery than 3G/4G.

  • It can move apps to sd card, but not right out of the box. you will have to do a list of things to get it to. for $200 i think its worth doing the extra work for it. you will have to: 1.Root your phone using Lelus method. (Search XDA) 2.Install Voodoo rootkeeper 3.Install CWM recovery. (Search XDA) 4.Partition Sd card using CMD (Easy) 5.Install Busybox and Link2sd 6.Install and use directory-bind. for queries mail me at [email protected] I'm currently rooted on LG P769 USA T-mobile version, unlocked network, 10G firmware, Cool Droid login animation as well. Transferring all apps to sd is possible. regards, Axe

  • HSPA+ is the latest release of UMTS. Many consider it as 4G or 3.75G. Practical Speed of HSPA+ is pretty close to the speed of LTE.

  • You can transfer games to sd card. However you will have to do a couple of things for it. 1.Root phone using lelus method (search on xda) 2.Install CWM (search on xda) 3.Format SD card partition (I did EX4 part. type) 4.Install link2sd 5.Install and use directory bind as required

  • Their was already an update

  • Yes

  • I have one and i love it. I have had mine for about 4 months now and i needed it due to my vision going bad. it has a bigger screen than my previous model (samsung galaxy s blaze) but a slower processor. I love it and i would recommend it to anybody who wants a dual core phone that has a decent size screen. (4.3 inches).

  • Which one is the best ... lg optimus l7 ii or lg optimus l9 ? plz comment... I m confused..

  • You hold the text you want to copy and click the two papers then hold to where you want to paste and click it

  • You may try google play, which i saw at xperia L opinion.

  • Hi! I just read that phone would not allow user to send applications to external memory, like most other phones do. Too bad.

  • these specs are wrong as they relate 3g bands. on the official website of the phone, clearly says it supports UMTS i/ii/iv/v please correct these specifications

  • Jb update for lg p768?

  • How do u copy and paste?

  • can anybody help me how to send my apps to my external memory card?

  • can anybody help me how to send my apps to my external memory card?

  • Best Solution For those of you having problems moving the Apps to SD Card!! Root the phone and Use Titanium backup look for that option under operations Kudos....

  • bether is vetru ti

  • What do you mean battery back up??

  • Dont go for lg phones, because the battery backup sucks

  • where did u get the codes to unlock the phone?

  • Dude...u have to update android to 4.1 then u'll able to move apps on sd card..

  • Best phone in 16k range...GOOOODDD but u have to compromise with the battery life..battery drains extremely while playing...any game..

  • in android 4.1 you press vol down and power instead of home and power

  • After the latest update about a week ago I'm unable to take screen shots. Does anyone know why?

  • please help!!!!!

  • after the jelly bean update i can see emojis but i cant use them, how do i activate them on this phone?

  • after the jellybean update i can see all emojis but i cant use them. how do you activate them on the optimus L9 P769?

  • do you mean the sd card is just useless in this phone? poor lg l9. they didn't do improvements on moving apps to sd card. eventhough i download apps2sd it is not effective.

  • you cannot move apps to sd card with ICS and above.

  • It's not the phone as it is the OS of ice cream sandwich and above that did away with app to SD capabilities. It's some sort of deal Google is trying to do with manufacturers to force larger internal memory. It sucks.

  • How come my lg l9 doesnt have move to sd card whenever i want my games to transfer to sd card? Help please?

  • How do you unlock? I'm looking to buy to use in Brazil? The 3G works?

  • no contract means that the phone is locked for t-mobile, prepaid. but its very easy to unlock and it will cost about 12U$ online. i have bought two last month in orlano-fl, i am using both here in brazil!

  • I saw this and got interested, but, got a little bit confused. Being 'No Contract' still doesn't mean it's 'Unlocked', right? So, no way to use here in Brazil? Or is there an unofficial way to unlock it for other carriers? Or the lock is only for US carriers?

  • I am following the cyanogenmod development on this forum. However, I am a novice and there's no way I'm going to attempt this stuff they're talking about there :P

  • the bootloader has been successfully unlocked, but it is difficult to do from what I understand because the touchscreen goes bananas during the process. I have read messages about people putting cyanogenmod on there by effectively turning the phone into a P760 beforehand. I think I remember there were issues with the GPS and the screen not rotating properly when you flip the phone on its side. the phone has been out for awhile, but I'm hopeful that it will get real support for custom mods soon - it seems to be gaining in popularity as a pre-paid phone. I search about once a week, watching for a stable custom rom to be made available by someone. I'll say this much, the possibility of a custom rom being made available looks much better now than it did a couple of months ago.

  • T-Mobile is selling this at 199.99 no contract. Not bad. Anyone know if the bootloader's been unlocked and running on custom roms yet?

  • Power button and volume down :p

  • You must set some kind of screen block or else it will be turning the screen on and off and drain the battery in half a day. Also, download a battery saver (Like Go Power Master) and set it to turn off data an wi-fi when screen off. I did all of this and now get almost two days of battery life.

  • How do I take screenshots now? I can't use lock and home buttons anymore

  • Guys I updated to jellybean yesterday. Now I can't make 3g voice calls from my mob using viber, line etc.Even watsapp is not working. However net browsingtwo using 3g is working fine. • please upgrade ur optimus L9 to Jelly bean 4.1.2 the update is available over the air.... LG started giving the update 3/4 days back.....

  • not this version

  • very true.

  • GSMARENA giving us chance to let us tell the smartphone manufacturer to concentrate on better MIDRANGE smartphone not just on flagship devices bcaus everyone cant afford to buy flagship device.for your voice to be get heard you just have to sign follow this link

  • you can get many FM radio stations by downloading the app iheartradio

  • The LG Optimus L9-P76910G Is a good phone. My dad got it for me. The store sale it to him. I was looking more for a Nexus 4, a Droid or else. It was a replacement from my great awesome Motorola Defy MB5xx... great phone running Android 4.2 with a costume rom. Still alive since 2009!!! This phone is fairly good. Pros: 1-It never run slow. 2-Battery is more than average battery. I notice is better to use original charger.Somehow it just charge faster, fully and better. 3-Slim light weight deign 4- Smart 5-Nice Gorilla Glass feel. The glass screens feels goon on touch, **SPECIALLY*** scrolling. *It does gets scratch easily tho. 6-Glass screen cleans very easy. :) 7-Nice graphic quality. Cons: 1-Really LowQ camera at 5MP. Forget about taking a decent pic or video with both front and rear camera. Images are just grainy not matter lighting conditions. Being a Video expert, i am 100% sure that the image sensor is very low end. To shoot 1080p video you need at least 8MP. I noticed how the camera actually crops and zooms the image when switching from 720p to 1080p, to mimic 1080p resolution. like come on!!! it is very noticeable LG. Useless videos. Very pixelated. 2-Quick Memo, is noting else than a screenshot. It is not that useful if you have big fingertips i think. 3-Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. A Upgrade to JB will make this phone even smoother. 4-This phone is not that bright in sunny day. I have to put my hand ontop to block the Sun. 5-Screen scratches very easily. Even tho it has Gorilla Glass 2. 6-One momo speaker 7-No NOTIFICATION LIGHT. You have to constantly be looking at your phone to see any notification. 8-Annoying Keyboard icon on top if you modify or change any settings on your keyboard or how it should behave. 9-You cant store app to external SD card... So forget about installing large files on your phone.

  • Hi! Got this model as a gift - is there a way to listen to FM radio on it? Thanks!

  • where can i buy this lg 9,, i been to many malls but it says i still have to order..

  • You must have a faulty battery/unit. I average 4 hours of on-screen time. Screen brightness no lower than 50%. I am not conservative with this phone. Wifi, Bluetooth, gps stay on sometimes throughout the day.

  • hi frnd which site available for this mobile for $220..plz rply me...

  • Are LG L9 have video speed control like LG 4X HD ??

  • How do you do that? I have a microSD card but nothing happens.

  • my battery lasts for 4 hours on full charging. i was just browsing through my phone which i bought today and i saw my battery level dropping after every min. i have reduced my brightness to 10 %, disabled 3g, cleared ram, and i have not installed any applications. This phone really sucks. My advice, dont buy this phone, you will regret. it been hardly 6 hours that i bought this phone, and now i am thinking lumia 620 was better option.

  • @coachkropp Thanks for the Answer I meant by heavy duty, files and web browsing without hanging... or lags.

  • well, not much internal memory. if you root it, though, you can make micro SD into internal memory

  • within this range u cud hav xolo x 900 or sony xperia sola.

  • it is excellent except it does not have enough internal memory for more than maybe 1-2 large games (500+MB)

  • When I bought it, I could not wait to open it I was like a little girl in the candy store. I did not have a sims card when I opened it but it can function with wifi if it is avaliable. the features are awesome. I got a good deal at Best Buy for $199.99+tax came out to $220. I love it!!!! I have a 2GB SD card and have a lot of memorary.

  • guys is the phone good for gaming? i m from india and need a good gaming phone under 15k

  • 1 yes 2 no 3 its fast, sleek, and light weight. it suffers from low internal memory - so no large game files

  • like someone already posted, apps like iheartradio will allow you to listen to radio stations. as for room for apps, the phone does suffer from low memory. 99% of the problem is due to not being able to move apps to SD. you could delete every bloatware on the phone and still not have more than maybe 2GB of free internal memory. its really pathetic.

  • I have couple of questions: 1- does it accept Whatsapp Application? 2-Ist easy to transfer data to the external memory 3- ist a heavy duty phone/ thanks

  • That's wrong, you can download apps no problem. Its a great phone with everything. Does not have a fm or am receiver but most phones don't have it anyway. Use iheart radio.

  • Can you access and listen to different radio stations on this phone? For example, in the US, we have AM and FM radio stations that play music, have talk shows, and have news broadcasts. And, from reading some of the postings, you cannot download any new apps to this phone, because of the preloaded apps? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • ya U Can Use This Phone In Canada..........

  • Can i use this phone LG L9 in Canada? please answer thanks...

  • I wonder if LG locked up the bootloader to prevent people from turning this into a customized Nexus with a memory card slot and removable battery....lol.

  • I have brought LG optimus l9 P765 in INDIA on 7th mar 2013.The phone diplay is good, body is slim but the worse thing is its battery backup even though the lg has provided 2150mAh it took 2.5 hrs to recharge & to my horror with meagre work like browsing for half an hour & listening to music for one hour & receiving/doing calls of duration 30 min its battery lasted only for 12 hrs which is not possible with such battery capacity infsct all major brands smartphones give atleast 1-1.5 day backup also the music output from loudspeaker is not so good.

  • If i have the older model of this phone can i get it for a cheaper price ?

  • You will have to buy this model from USA. its not available in Asia. If you can, it will cost almost half of the price of the Grand in India. It has a sharper display than the grand and the S3 mini. The Xolo 1000 seems to be of almost very close specs to this phone. However Xolo being an Indian company not sure of the service etc. i Don't have personal experience with Xolo. The service of LG and Samsung has been good for me till now.

  • I have this phone. For a basic and semi advanced user this fulfills all purposes. It has a 4GB internal memory(1.8 user accessible). Very thin, flat cool look. This is the american variant that runs on T-mobile micro-SIM (which can be unlocked for about 10$ to any network.). This different from the Asian variant by the slightly smaller screen (4.5" vs 4.7"). However it makes up for the same by sporting a Corning Gorilla glass 2 vs ordinary glass screen. However I still use a scratch guard for addition safety. It has the HSPA+ 4G band for 168mbps high speed internet. It doesn't come with a gyroscope, but has an accurate accelerometer which will give you correct readings unless you are freefalling from a building or a crashing aircraft. Battery seems good enough. overheating not too much, speed quite good, no lags. camera quality good, flash good. The only major drawback i can find is that if it comes with a firmware of 10G or above it is very difficult to root (10e)is fine. However it may be rootable in the near future. Overall for a price of a mere $200 in the US market, for a 4G phone you can't go wrong anyway.

  • Me using the phone and i feel that u go for samsung galaxy s3 mini or xolo a1000

  • frds i want to buy this .please upload ur sugections.compare lg l9 with samsung galaxy grand

  • frds i want to buy this .please upload ur sugections.compare lg l9 with samsung galaxy grand

  • No nfc(P765) No gorilla glass (p765) only 768mb ram (P765) No usb on the go(P765) No battery back Portable heater No auto brightness No night photo clear No jelly bean p765 preloaded Only good thing is best look

  • hi guys, I read this all, thanks but what about its main feature said by the ad. is it has really 2150 mAh battery. Is it real, 30 days standby time.

  • dude your a liar the p769 cannot have apps moved to thesd

  • Holding my breath until the F7 is released ... LOL.

  • Awesome news! I may wind up buying it then. The Nexus 4 is sweet, but hte lack of a memory card slot is a deal breaker for me. I have a 8 GB memory card and would hate to just toss it aside.

  • Thanks for the info

  • Walmart for $199

  • yeah I hear ya! I bought this phone but then went back to my G2X until someone makes a custom ROM for it. I read in a forum recently though that someone did get the bootloader unlocked just a week or so ago so now its only time...

  • LG has the bootloader locked up pretty tightly on this phone. Reading the negative posts over at xda makes me want to get the Samsung Galaxy Relay now.

  • Ebay...........

  • anybody can help me where i can buy this phone..

  • To have ur apps go to the sd card go to ur browser. Go to settings. Go to advanced. Storage. Click sd card and allapps downloaded will go to the sd card

  • Awesome phone i like it

  • NICE

  • optimus L9 is much better than samsung advance.L9 bettery is very good & no hangeing probelum

  • Yeah its really well-specced. Which network provider do you use and how much did you get it for?

  • Just got this phone yesterday in South Africa , Just the 4.7 inch screen and 8 megapixel , quite cheap here too!

  • In South Africa the camera is a 8MP and not 5MP

  • Great job . you have done it .

  • New model LG Optimus L9 P768f, just released in Australia, is superior phone. 4.7" screen, 8MP primary camera (3264x2448 pixels), full sim card and other specs. are similar. Just bought this phone, it is awesome, no problems so far.

  • check what are u saying its a 5 mp camera not 8

  • Its not the wrong specs, the P769 is 4.5" and 5MP camera, its sister P760 International Phone version is 4.7" and 8MP.

  • I have bought the phone unlocked from U.S.A through my brother in law ,with rubberized silicon case. The phone is superb and works good but without T-mobile in built Applications.I recommended this slim phone to my relatives.

  • I'm almost to the point of smashing my still on Froyo Sidekick 4G. I've been comparing prices with my partial discount and this seems to hit the mark. The Relay is just too expensive and it seems Samsung is pretty much ignoring this model too. The mytouch 4G Slide is very cheap now and does have good specs but I want a bigger screen instead of getting another 3.7 phone. Sure, I'd love the Nexus 4...buuuut....once again...too expensive. AND hard to find here in T-Mobile Puerto Rico. I'll miss the keyboard but at least LG has a history of awesome dev support over at Cyanogen and xda. It's only a matter of time.

  • Good Handset

  • I rooted mine within the first couple of weeks with no problems. But I'm a noob at this, so I read lots of posts and took my time with the instructions. No point in rooting yet though because it still won't let you move apps to SD and cyangenomod isn't supported for the phone yet. So I don't think I really gained anything from doing this.

  • i need help to root this phone...anybody..plz..

  • this review is the most honest and on target review of the L9 I have seen. thanks so much for sharing!

  • app2sd or any other app for moving things to the SD will no longer work as of google os 4.04. Without providing an alternative, google removed this feature from the android os. The only thing you can put on the SD card is pictures, movies and music. So getting a phone with a large internal memory is crucial.

  • Though L9 might not be the latest hard-hitting Android handset in the market, but with a powerful spec sheet and latest version of OS, it seems to be a good deal for budget-conscious consumers, who want to put their hands-on latest and advanced smartphone. Still, if you are not a big fan of LG phones, you are free to lay your hand on Nokia Lumia and other Samsung and Sony handsets. But if you are one who wish to bring it home, LG L9 might not go wrong. Hope, this LG Optimus L9 Review proves to be helpful and provide you with right information. Read more @

  • Nice phone...with the same specification, take more money for samsung, htc, nokia. Very elegant, i like it.

  • Just using app " APP 2 SD " from play store...hope it can solve your problem...

  • lg optimus is nice phn......m using it......sleek and stylish

  • What about Chipset and GPU?Does this phone have those? Please tell me what are the functions of Chipset and GPU.I want to buy this phone but dissapointed in seeing that nothing is written at the Chipset and GPU section.I trust GSMarena.com so please answer my questions. One more question:How many sets are there of LG Optimus L9(like LG Optimus L9 P769,LG Optimus L9 P760 etc. exactly how many sets are available in the market, also tell whether they are available in India or not.)

  • Both this and the Nexus 4 are always out of stock. Way to go, LG....FAIL. LMAO.

  • Guys m using dis phone from 1 month, m enjoying all its feature, its damn awesome... :-) But i hv a 1 doubt does it allow us to move applications to external memory card???? If yes, plz tell me how?????????????????????

  • even LG's own website states it's 5MP camera and 4.5" screen

  • wrong information on camera and lcd 8MP AND 4.7" NOT 5MP AND 4.5"

  • Soung is not that great when copared with Samsung or Nokia..but is better if we us headphones

  • nice phone.......

  • hi, i like to buy L9. Before to that i need to ask about the sound quality of this phone. hear volume, speaker volume and ringtone volume etc. because the phone which i am having (MMX A90)is not having these. Can anyone please suggest me

  • "No Contract" simply means you can buy any device with cash/credit or debit with no annual agreement. In order to use the P769 in your country it would have to be unlocked for carriers in your city.

  • brother i am using P765 which we get in india, it awesome , its got gorgeous 4.7 inch ips screen with dual core processor with 1 gb Ram what more could i ask for 17k. I don't like sony cause new xperia phones have micro sim slot which is diffrent from normal sim cards, and like swaping sims between phones so it would be pain to get micro sim for the each time. also the customizations done by LG in optimus are really good looking like it supports themes by defualt you can customize the toggle buttons these features are normally found on custom roms which LG is giving by defualt.

  • Hi, Planning to buy this mobile from US, in one of the online site it says, No Annual Contract, just concerned that if i can use this device in India???? i know that "Unlocked Mobiles" can be used any where. But want to know what "No Annual Contract" stands for please suggest....

  • Dear Healper, I dont say arc s,but i mean xperia s(1.5 ghz duel core+12mp+1gb ram)...and a suggestion which would be durable and good in performance between sony xperia s and LG L9....plz suggest me who r real user..

  • I suggest you to buy LG Optimus L9 rather than Xperia Arc S, because Arc S has poor quality in Camera and the internet is slow. The battery in Arc S doesn't last long, memory and RAM is lower than L9. I know that L9 might lack in Design to Xperia Arc S, but L9 has better features and performance than Xperia. I personally suggest that you should buy L9, but it is your choice to make whether to buy L9 or Xperia Arc S. I hope this information helped you to decide which one to buy.

  • plz suggest,,, which would be a better value of money LG l9 or xperia S......for performance and quality.

  • plz suggest me, between sony xperia s and LG L9......i come from a middle class family, hence suggest me a phone which would be durable and good in performance to value my money.

  • ,,,,sony xperia s or LG L9.....plz suggest me honestly,i m in a fix between these sony xperia s and LG L9.....i come from a middle class family so advice me a phone which would me durable with good performance.

  • im using this phone really happy with this

  • Only 4Gb memory when GS2 has 16Gb. so much more confortable...

  • I like this phone, now if it came with a booklet to explain certain things. Like, "how to delete pictures from the INSTANT UPLOAD album." IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.

  • what's the difference with Optimus L9 P765? is the camera position not same? i have the P765 one and the camera was in the corner, i want to buy a phone case from ebay, but i saw it that the P769 camera was in the middle, is it right???

  • Am using it... really nice phone...

  • hi, i just want to ask a quetion, the L9 comes with 5mp camera right? is there any 8mp camera version of L9? cause i saw in the LG Cambodia official FB page, they say that L9 has 8mp camera.

  • superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr phone

  • Superb fone l9 comparing s3 price but dual core im enjoying its 2150 mah baterry comparing comptetiors , if any wants to buy s3 u can select l9 as an option in lower price & almost same features ...

  • These no. are used for different country as well as different network(service provider) specific model for same phone.

  • Is it available for Indonesian market?

  • Hi, can anyone tell me if Text-to-speech is a problem in this phone ?

  • I have this ph for 1 wk now (upgrded from galaxy r) and i`m quite satisfied. to be honest it has some issues though .... the worst is u dont see a shit in sunlight Besides camera could have been better, buck up lg .... But camera speak to click feature is awesome Just say cheers\wisky and it will click not to mention call quality is crystal clear but on the other hand loudspk is boo!! But for 18k its absolutely worth it......

  • Just a follow up to my previous review. I want to say that I already have less than 1gb of internal memory because android OS 4.04 does not let you move any apps to SD. So under these conditions, I would strongly caution anyone to buy a phone with less than 16GB of internal memory at a minimum.

  • yes...very much the screen is gorilla glass

  • does the 4.7 inch one has gorilla glass ?

  • Hi!...I am a power user & hv updated to L9 from P500 after over searching top 10 various models including S3. I give 10/10 to L9. Just a phone so good that you will never regret. Simply Beyond Value for money!! Large clear crisp display....no nags, good gaming & a nice cover that comes free with phone in India. Though competition to top Samsung models...I would say go for Samsung only if your mindset is buying over 30k phone. One last word.... Quad processor @ 1.6 Ghz in Samsung....does not make a dam for 98% of time you don't need that power!!!! Go for it....Well Done LG!

  • Am going to buy this phone on the no annual contract basis.. I want to use it with different operator, so do i need to first activate it with t-mobile or can i directly get a phone unlock code from t-mobile and use with another network?? Please somebody answer soon.. Thanks..

  • I buoght this phone for my girlfriend and guess waht i'd feel in love whit it and not only my but all my friend like it verry much now everyone bought this lg ..... So what do you need to know abougt thi device its very stylis very good to have in your hand , verry good screen , app vork verry good , i even think that is much better than the samsung g sII , i recomanded to all you that want a new phone you will get attach to it in 1 or 2 day If you have any questions ..... Plese msg and ill will answer . I rate this 10+++ .

  • i just got the phone 2 weeks ago. still curious how to activate text to speech function and voice command. i also can't find how to make video calling, though it has front camera.

  • Hi all ok..but tell me how is the camera qwality?

  • I Owned this phone for 1 day so far so I'm still just messing around with it to see what it can do. It has the same speed processor as the G2X, but seems really fast and is a bit larger than my G2X. I have difficulty holding it with 1 hand and I'm 5'-10". Came with Android 4.04 from the T-Mobile store. The only complaint I have is the ridiculous space bar they put on there for a home screen button. The first thing I'm going to do is look for a workaround for that. But other than the nice keyboard spacebar they decided to put at the bottom, I don't have any complaints. I just can't imagine anyone in development thinking that a spacebar as a home key is a great idea. Its just so unnatural and stupid it numbs the mind. If you want me to test any features or apps, just post your questions. later guys-

  • 1. Y 2. Y if you have hands the size of andre the giant 3. Y but it seems kind of limited. the widgets I played around with that maybe occupied 4 squares reduced only to 1 with nothing in between. so maybe it depends on the widget. 4. N, not that I can tell. Looks like you can have multiple accounts saved though. Also, it has I god damn space bar for the home key. No I'm not kidding and its ridiculous!

  • its d diffrnce in d frequencies dey use 4 3g, so jst 2 diffr b/w d regions diffrnt codes r used. And sum minor diffrnces lyk...t-mobil version has a 4.5 inches screen while its worldwide vrsion has 4.7inches f screen

  • i wonder what's the difference between P760, P765, and P769? since we have P765 in here...

  • Is your optimus l9 is bigger than galaxy s2 and is l9 screen size is as of galaxy s3

  • Can we get real reviews for the phone and not questions

  • Why is it so hard to find reviews of this phone? It's already out! I looked at a live one yesterday at the T-Mobile store, and it's really quite nice for the money.

  • 1. Can we create Folders in application menu/ main menu as in symbian phones 2. Is it comfortable to hold in hand and is it pocket friendly ? 3. Are widgets on homescreen resizable ? 4. Can we signout of gmail account ? How ? (not able to do it in Optimus L7 ) Please reply Thanks

  • It is pretty weird that they decided to make two version of L9. I already received mine L9 (Sweden) and it have 4.7" display instead of 4.5" US version seems to be thicker, but have higher ppi. Seems weird anyway, I am very satisfied with this L9, I had Optimus 2x and L7 before I bought L9. Now I am looking forward to see Optimus G. Feel free to ask anything.

  • Im waiting this phone

  • Im waiting this phone

  • When can it reach Indonesia?

  • htc desire x competitior..........chipset dual core snapdragon msm8225/adreno 203=snapdragon s4 play........

  • Great MidRanger.. Keep rock, LG!

  • like!

  • i have lg l7 and satisfied with it, and i think lg l9 is recomended to buy. One think that i hate about l7 is lg Back cover too thin and frail.

  • Looks good for a mid level phone.
