  • This phone has android 2.3,, but the only advantage of the ICS i see is the control of background applications in development menu. .. the photos are good, do not expect much from the video, seems good in small screen, .but in desktop... The front camera is VGA, modest, only for video calls... The back has a robust design. The rubber on the sides makes it good to hold. The keyboard seems difficult to use, but with two days becomes easy as a nokia E-series.

  • Motorola stopped its operations in India. You wont find new Motorola phones in India. Only service centers will be operational for a couple of years. So look out for other manufacturers.

  • It seems I was wrong: check out the Motorola Brazil page for the Defy Pro and the Wikipedia article on UMTS: I conclude that the Defy Pro from Brazil may be suited for Europe after all (at least the DE/AT/CH market).

  • The phone only provides WCDMA on the 2100 spectrum, so I guess for most European countries that means no. If you're ok with GSM/GPRS/EDGE only, then it'd be ok and you could buy it... but I suppose that would make little sense with a smartphone like this.

  • I think Motorola pro+ is still better option for money. Almost same spec and bigger screen 3.1in and better res 640x480 there is only one thing I missing "call" & "end" buttons

  • I believe the North American (Canada) version operates only on UMTS 850/1900. And the South American (Brazil) version operates UMTS 800/1900/2100. Specs above taken from Motorola Canada and Brazil websites. Also RAM = 512Mb and Internal Memory = 1Gb.

  • I think is a standard. From specs this phone should global work. Since this phone is made for America is obviously they have not got licenses for Europe like SAR value or other EU requirements.

  • You'd have to press the unlock key on top to wake the device and after that you'd have to slide the unlock icon to unlock it. Front keys don't work when screen is locked... clumsy.

  • I just love the looks and specs of this phone. I am a hardware QWERTY lover and have never understood the craze for huge touchscreen slabs these days. I prefer the feel of real hardware keys rather than the monotonous typing on the virtual keyboard. I own the Xperia Pro which I love a lot. But I still miss the down-to-earth convenience and utility of a portrait QWERTY. As a former Nokia E-Series user, this phone seems to fit my requirements perfectly as an E6 + Android combo, with its very sensible addons like Call/End keys, D-Pad and LED flash (which would be more useful to me as a torch with a 3rd party app). And I am okay with a 2.7 inch screen for all this convenience. I just hope that this phone gets available in India as well soon..

  • Why is it that it takes 3 to 6 months to get a Motorola phone after it is released and that is if it comes to our market. One would think that the defy pro would be a huge hit with business users who prefer a qwerty pad and others who are beginning to lose interest in blackberry. Motorola released the pro plus but with a ridiculous keyboard made for small hands and the others that came with it in the same line were so slow and cheap it gives one a heart attack when using them. Now finally when they have made a decent phone lets see how long it will take to we see it in our market. My money is on Samsung or another company copying it and having it reach my market before I see this phone. And I would like to know why was it made for brazil. The people in other parts of the world don't want or would not be interested in a phone like this?

  • I don't understand why this is limited to the Brazilian market. I had the pro plus liked it alot but had an average touch screen. Why don't phone companies make more higher quality touch screen phones with physical keyboards but with high quality screens a fast processors. Why are qwerty phones,l imited to blackberry which i stopped using a couple of years ago, and Nokia. Acre,htc,and Motorola,Samsung etc have produced qwerty phones with android software but with slow processors and low quality hardware. Why isn't there any effort from the phone manufacturers to produce high quality qwerty phones with the same specs as the new higher end touch screen phones.

Now you moto guys add also the BBM messenger and I'm ready to take this one and say goodby to my BB. btw the push email on this moto device is from emoze which I used it ages ago on NOKIA E71.

  • Ever thought about the main reason why power drains so fast on most smartphones? The display! Think about the display size of this and compare with Defy+, then the 1680mAh battery maybe sufficient.

  • Motorola has not replicated BB. I have seen a couple of Motorola phones of the simuilar type which are never released in the market but then, used by upper management within Motorola. As far as the specs are concerned I am not much happy or may be this is a just preliminary specs so no abuse.
