Motorola DROID X2 - User Reviews

  • it says can't upgrade to jellybean 4.1

  • I picked up an old Droid X2, and well i just love it. It's a rather solid feeling phone, and I honestly wish that Motorola would release something identical in terms of overall feel and appearance but with a new version of android, and while it does say "not up-gradable to 4.1", that only applies to the official Motorola upgrade channels. If you look around on the internet (specifically the XDA forums you can find a modified 4.1.2 by Cyanogenmod designed to run on this particular model. However Android 4.1.2 being as old as it is has very poor application support, and even third party web browsers such as Firefox and Google chrome will not work on such an old version. If you can find a working Droid X2 for cheap in reasonable condition pick it up, it might be worth something to a phone collector, as a daily driver though, not so much unfortunately.

  • It says it can get jelly bean, but mine can't get past gingerbread

  • how do u get it to turn on it won't

  • good phone.

  • How can i use sim card on this phone pls

  • how to reach for hot spot

  • The Motorola Android X2 does NOT have a front camera

  • Probably cuz its not a blackberry.

  • it gose ape once in awhile when it gets too many commands

  • it doesn't support bbm.

  • Can this phone use bbm because I want to buy one but I love bbm so much help

  • to the stoner opinion above, you duno what you're talking about- no offense all other stoners. (you guys dont put newbie opinions out there. i know this is old but i had to straighten the overall look/ opinion on the dx2. one of the best i've owned! bloatware on the phone makes it run slow there cletus. root it, sbf, and cyanogenmod 7 that thing and it'll run like michael johnson! i run youtube, streaming amc walking dead right now. and they're cheap on ebay, around 100 bucks. cant beat it.

  • This is hands down the worst phone I've ever owned. Every app glitches. It's slower than any phone I've ever seen, today it took 30 minutes to watch give minutes of youtube video before it decided not to play anything at all. It over heats constantly (expect it to run around 110° when using any app or taking). At least once a day it will close a program while I'm trying to use it. It will automatically download random apps. It automatically calls random numbers. Some days it will not access wifi. The bluetooth does not work. My gps always locates me in a town 50 miles away from where I live and never where I am. This is worse when I leave the state. One day it started deleting my contacts one piece of info at a time. First it would delete their photo, then their email, next it would take out the text messing, then their phone number, and finally it would delete the name. A couple of months ago it stopped making calls. Then once it cycled through turning itself on and off several times, it would call everyone I had spoken to recently several times in a row. By this I mean while I was talking to that person, it would redial their number creating a convene call with the same person. It refuses to send texts to my best friend. It auto-incorrects what I type, often inserting gibberish in place of the actual words that were on the screen until I hit the space bar. Within a month of owning the phone, the photo gallery stopped working. When I looked up how to fix it, the companies own website advised me to download a third party app! Every time I eremite to synch my phone yup my computer it factory resets my phone. The alarm doesn't already work and sometimes resets itself, sets itself, and turns itself off. Every app that comes on the phone stops working within the first year and I was forced to download third part apps to keep the phone working. It also burns up chargers. I am currently on my fifth.they usually only last about two months before they ate completely fried. I've been through three batteries and none will hold a charge four more than 4 hours, 1 if I actually use the phone. On top of all this the paint has pealed off the aluminum back of the phone. The ONLY reason I have not smashed it with a brick is that it has a trade in value of $40, and that will help offset the price of an iphone. I hate this phone.

  • No I don't. Iphone's are worse. I have a RAZR i now... It's x86 powered so it just doesn't have the type of performance issues that ARM devices have. The x86 architecture is actually good. I don't know what idiot thought ARM was a good idea in the first place.

  • You own an iphone don't you

  • This is by far the worst computerized device I have ever owned. Firstly, I paid $550 for it. At the time, this was the best phone you could possibly buy in the whole smartphone market. It was an OK phone for the first 3 months. It began getting slower and slower. I tried an AOSP ROM, using ram re-allocation hacks, using task killers and using ram cache clearing apps. As time progressed, it got worse and worse. After a year of use, the gps stopped working after a few days of the phone being powered on. You had to restart the phone to make the gps start working again. After 1.5 years, the calling and testing capabilities would quit working after the phone had been powered on for a day. I had to restart every day which at this point took FOREVER. There is no excuse for that. I paid $550 for it. I will never buy another device with an ARM processor ever again. There is no excuse for that. Period.

  • I got a Droid X2 for a birthday present, and it was perfect until a month or two afterwards. It just started to slowdown, overheat, it eats my battery most days, and all around its a price of crap phone; even when its rooted its a crap phone. Also the design, if everyone else can make a slim flat phone then why can't Motorola do that with this? NO ONE BUY THIS PHONE ITS TERRIBLE!!!

  • best phone ever I had... ^^

  • Do the Droid x2 have an similar card

  • Not officially, but there's always CyanogenMod.

  • you can use 3g service on this phone, here 3g network name EVDO...............

  • can i use 3g services in droid x2 plese send the rply

  • upgradeable to ics??

  • no ICS

  • i dont know about tata but for reliance cdma it will work 100 %

  • Guys I need help! Not only about this phone, any cdma phone from US. How do I use it in India? I already have Motorola Droid 2 and want to use it with TATA but no clue what to do. If this works, I plan to get the X2!

  • i am using it and its really good handset i use this phone in India i have unlocked and running on R CDMA u need help then contact me

  • This phone is the worst I have ever had. Its slow, it turns off when I'm in the middle of calls. I only have like 10 apps on it. I will never own another Motorola phone ever. I thought it was a smart phone more like the dumbest phone ever. The guy talked me into it and my next phone will be an iPhone. Good luck to ppl who own this phone or want to own it...

  • well if u root this phone, n install some tweaks or even custom rom from xdadeveloper , will be very fast and powerful phone u ever had....

  • best phone of the world i am having it since 2 months its price is just RS:17000/only

  • CDMA phones do not use a sim card unless it is for overseas usage on a GSM network.

  • I have this phone. Dont get any Motorola Phone. They ALL Turn off radomly. I have about 40 apps and it restarts at least once every 2 days. Usually everyday. My moms Restarts Once every week and she has 10 apps. My GF has the Droid 3, Hers restarts about twice a week and she has 20 apps. I had to return my phone twice and i still have the same problems. my mom had the droid x. SUCKED. got another X then got the x2 then got another x2. OMG. Im getting the galaxy nexus. Ive never seen a motorola phone not restart. Read reviews on verizon

  • The phone doesnot use cdma sim card. It doesnt have CDMA RUIM

  • does the droid x 2 phone use CDMA sim cards?

  • halos does this phone use a CDMA sim card or how does it work with CDMA?

  • can u tell me price of droid x2

  • dude, dey've 4g technology nt 3g so they've made cdma.this is LTE DEVICE AND IN ASIA no country is currently having lte technology.bt moto rocks!!

  • Heat warning! How hot is your Droid X2?

  • Is it just me or can Motorola NOT make a phone without some design flaw or quirk? Its almost like the guy in R&D is paid to put something queer in the phone.

  • they will launch good phones only to the CDMA networks.. wat abt the people who r using GSM..tats why moto still sucks in india and whole Asia

  • review

  • Actually it has a gyro sensor like any other touchscreen, so don't get your panties in a twist

  • even lg optimus 2x is 512ram just think then write

  • Monster specs? 512 mb ram? That is a joke

  • Motorola Photon 4G Specs Well Sprint users here is your next handsets specs: ~4.3-inch 540x960 qHD display ~Dual-core Tegra 2 processor ~8-megapixel camera ~1GB RAM ~WiMAX connectivity ~Soft-touch backside with a metal kickstand ~Laptop dock, similar to the one made for the Atrix 4G ~Target ship date July ~Android 2.3 running beneath the new of MotoBlur, which is the same version found on the DROID X

  • Why motorola? why did you do this, you disappoint me, a gaming mobile with no gyro sensor??? anyone would expect a 6-axis gyro sensor arrrgh, this is the only reason I am not buying this phone :(

  • monster specs, like the htc sensation, the specs are reason enough to buy that machine, the tegra chipset is a big step forward.

  • why does the Droid X2 still bring the small amount of RAM...? it's only 512 of RAM i think it is to small for the smart phone this time. at least use 768 or 1ghz of RAM would be nice for this phone :D

  • sorry I cant hear you..

  • Motorola DROID 3 You might recall that the third-generation model of the phone that started Androidmania is expected to have a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and a TI dual-core OMAP4 1GHz CPU under the hood. The screen is said to be 4 inches of qHD pleasure with both rear and front facing cameras expected, along with a 5 row physical keyboard. A "reliable" source at TechnoBuffalo has filled in some of the missing pieces. The Motorola DROID 3 will come to market, according to the tipster, with an 8MP camera in back and a 1.3MP camera in front. And while the informant wasn't as sure as Nenamark about whether the handset would sport the TI OMAP4430 or the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, he was sure about one thing that will make DROID fans upset-like its larger stablemate-the Motorola DROID X2-the DROID 3 will be launched sans 4G. Speaking of the launch, the release is expected sometime next month.

  • Droid X was one of the most successful droid and motorola recent phone i think you forgot it was launched with iphone 4 and gave it a run and was sold completely in just few days. now it is back with second generation of does power... and it will go strong till galaxy s2 or iphone 5 or htc sensation arrives. but it will be time for droid 3 and bionic to take the charge from droid x2 this is just a special appearance from motorola the real hero is coming trust me in around september and it will change everything....wait

  • why only cdma???? y u not listening motorola?

  • Overlooking the scores put up by the handset, were still pleasantly impressed with the overall operation of the handset so far since we experience some responsive and quick actions in the short time using the handset. Naturally, moving across the homescreen with a regular wallpaper activated is smooth, with no evidence of any slowdown or lag. Furthermore, loading up our web site, were able to instantly start browsing, scrolling, and zooming with no adverse effects befalling the handset. Surely enough, well be doing some extensive testing over the course of the next few days to really get a feel for its operation.

  • Motorola DROID X2 Benchmark Tests Even though were starting to see a steady stream of handsets offering next-generation dual-core processors, the Motorola DROID X2 has the prestigious title of being Verizons very first handset to boast a dual-core 1GHz processor, and rightfully so, its only fitting for us to run a couple of benchmark tests to initially better gauge its capacity. By no means is this handset a slouch, even though some might be put off by the fact that its lacking 4G LTE connectivity, but despite that omission, the Motorola DROID X2 has some serious hardware under the hood. Running the Quadrant app first, were first impressed to see it completing the test in such a quick manner thus giving us test scores of 2,398 and 2,442. Sure it might not be as mind blowing as the results weve seen with the LG Optimus 2x and Samsung Galaxy S II, its still nonetheless respectable and better than most others out there. Furthermore, we ran the AnTutu Benchmark test and it ultimately gave us an overall score of 3,382, which places in alongside other high-caliber devices like the Motorola XOOM and LG Optimus 2x.

  • I had the droid x b4, i returned it back to verizon. I wanted to wait for the x2. I really don't see much done to the phone. Did i quick my self in the ass by returning the phone back???????

  • Its huge! Thats what she said... lol

  • flash 10.1 on gingerbread is incorrect. Gingerbread comes with 10.2 flash. Some intelligent work done by moto by splitting internal memory into two so that 8 GB can b used for purposes other than apps and system. One things missing is battery capacity. Atrix has 1920 mah. Droid X2 being a 4.3 inch unit needs higher one. Moreover, the only thing MOTOROLA needs to work on is, its screens' SUNLIGHT LEGIBILITY, MOTO screens dont reach closer to SAMSUNG's screens when it comes to sharpness and clarity despire having little higher res at the moment.
