Battery life for this phone is really good. It lasts about a day after hard gaming, OS tweaking and such. No problems with that. Camera for a phone from 2013 is really good. Really clear front and back camera, no problems. Performance.. well.. we had to get to that at some point, right? If you're a heavy user, I advise you to NOT use the Stock ROM, keeps crashing, has got a lot of bugs, and overall no security believe me. If you're a heavy user that likes gaming, don't install too many demanding apps. Install CM 14.1 ROM from XDA forums, you won't regret ;) Can't compare custom and stock ROM, no doubts. If you'd like better performance with this phone, trust me. Screen - very fine 4.5" display with 1280x720 resolution, small but overall nice. Overall, no problems with it, hardware and software, both are great. The only issue is the memory.

Lovely phone. Withstands a good measure of abuse and use (falling, bashing, getting wet in the rain, being used for four years). Sadly died to a soft brick after being a trusty companion for such a long time.

Had this phone since Sept 2014. I've dropped it a hundred times, still works like new! only put on a silicone back cover but apart from that no special protection given of any sort and the phone lasted! Sadly had to upgrade to Moto G5s Plus. But Moto 1st gen is one phone I wont forget! All Hail Moto!

100% True. I am owing this device from December 2013 and it still works like new. Screen is also in perfect condition because I have bought 3.99$ 3x plastic screen protectors together with the phone. Extremely durable device. Good job Google, Motorola !

I am using this phone for 4 years and I dropped many time but it's works like a charm and not go for service even one time. I've rooted it and flashed many custom ROMs. Currently, I'm using Pixel Experience ROM (based Oreo 8.1) it is butter smooth. PS: I have one problem that is nowadays the battery drains too quickly. I bought my Motorola Moto G (1st Generation) back in summer 2014 while on holiday in Canada and it has been brilliant under constant daily use for everything, calls, internet, video calls, photos, voice recording etc. BUT - Lesson learned: buy your phone where you live: I have had big problems with the Bluetooth on this phone, I think because it was a version for use in Canada, and I live in UK. Fortunately I bought a rubber case for it which is probably why it has survived a lot of abuse including being dropped on hard ground a few times. Now, nearly 4 years on, the OS (Android 5.1- the last available upgrade for this phone) still handles apps, and the only slight negative is that the battery is now not as amazingly good as it once was, but still gives good standby and talk time.

I have had this cellphone for ~2 years. Now, it opens programs without my instruction, must be running in the background. It also screws up the numbers associated with the names assigned. This cellphone has not been mishandled. Dropped from waist height 2-3 times. Am now looking at a cheaper (~$400 with trade-in) iPhone. They seem to have a better reputation at a greater expense. Can not decide if this device is worth cost of service. Moto g was among the highest rated phones when I made the decision to purchase; previous LG phone was not satisfactory.

hello everyone, i have this phone since 5 years i dropped 2 times, at the first drop screen had broken but saler changed the screen for free in a warranty, second time i dropped it from my pocket while i riding mbike, after 1 day i found it with helps of google device manager because my phone was not dead, in a random street. then i just changed the screen. it works great battery and main board conditions are great and both of them has waves, because when i dropped it in that time, it damaged by a car tire, yes this phone is immortal.

I've had this phone for nearly 5 years. It has never let me down. Its been dropped multiple times and is as scuffed as Jean claude van damme. Not really sure why motorola is not as popular as some other makes, which break if you so much as look at them wrongly. If this phone was still in production today, i would buy another one. Nice work Motorola.

This phone is built like a rock. I've dropped it so many times I've lost count, haven't had a single issue. Eventually though I accidentally dropped it onto concrete from a second story window, which cracked the screen. Despite losing a good portion of its lower part the phone itself still works just fine, as if nothing had happened. Seriously, this phone kicks butt. If you want a phone to use for years with little to no problems, look no further than this one. I only hope that other Motorola phones are as good as this one, because I'm probably going to be exclusively using Motorolas for a while.

Had the phone 3 years, no real problems. Sometimes loses network connection but only for a short period and normally only when I'm in a bad reception area, other than that I can't fault it.

Launched in 2013 but still this phone is rocking for me, recently 8.1 Oreo ROM came out for it. With such a great custom ROMs support this is by far one of the best phones by Motorola.

My mom has the Motorola Moto G since 2014 and it still works today. The only major issue I had was the power button component that came off the board. It was easily fixed by soldering and I added a piece of paper between the buttons and the battery to have a back support.

Now I think that 1 GB RAM is very small to handle the big apps, in market the 4gb ram Mobiles flooded with new choice going to moto G5s plus with its 4GB ram, 3000amp battery, 64gb in build memory, better camera, LTE, external memory support, all this make it better choice. But moto g original is still going smooth if we keep less apps & free storage like 6 GB. I love moto g brand.

Yes brother, you said the truth. I also have the same experience. I have been using Moto G first generation 3 and half years. No problems yet. Thank you Motorola moto G first generation. Because first generation is made by Google company. I think, all other generations of Moto G (made by Lenovo company) are not worthy as Moto G first generation.

Would you happen to be running "Shut-App"?- My Moto G ran great for a year then suddenly was hot all the time, and the battery wouldn't last three hours- Found out that an update to "Shut- App" was the cause. The day after I uninstalled that app, , it ran perfect again- To this day, as a matter of fact. Maybe also try a longer cable plugged into a usb port on a PC or laptop- longer to charge but it's easier on the battery

Love it. Longest lasting Android. I've used Motorola phones since the Nextel walkie talkie was cool. Actually, probably had a Motorola beeper first. I dropped the moto G and x probably 100 times working on concrete or heights and never broke the glass (without a protective case). When they'd finally break I'd buy a new one. $50 each through republic wireless or cricket. Now these phones are hard to buy and I don't mess with eBay. I wasted $100 on a galaxy sol with the promise of gorilla glass in the specs and it broke dropping 2 feet onto a dinner plate. It was a horrible phone to begin with. I find a gently used moto G on Craigslist for $40 and meet the guy at the store and voila! Back in business. It's old but reliable AND came with a case this time. Thanks Motorola. Bring the good phones back.....and the walkie talkie

This phone does indeed have a micro-SD card slot. It accepts micro-SD cards of up to 32GB, which is exactly what I have plugged into mine. You do have to pry off the back cover to get access to the slot. It has always worked flawlessly for me.

Very good phone. Have had it for a while. Decided to buy another phone because Moto G died on me suddenly. It was the battery, which I replayed myself. And now I have it as a back up phone. Never an issue with this device. Oh and it can really take falls. I had dropped it several times I the worst of outcomes, and still pumps life onwards.

The Moto G was super cool relation of price\quality that time. - good CPU - cool matrix - antiscrathes glass - cool design - modern software - and really good price (about 230$ if I'm not mistaken) --- My girlfiend brake her display few days ago. So we are looking for new one. I still use my Moto G. Like it. - Battery - about 1 day. Yes. the better battery would be great, but not critical. only internal memory - really not a proplem. In modern world people can use cloud storages. Or transfer the photos taken to the PC HDD 2 or 3 times a year. - Cool phone. Like it. Will use it forever)

Had this phone for barely a year before the plugin was too worn out to charge without being held a certain way and it was slow as heck. In terms of phones, this was a complete waste of money from the get go. I also had alot of problems with my micro SD card not reading. It would just randomly disconnect. Seriously buy a different phone.

Wrost service ... They r cheating with the customers..I gave them my phone for charging issue they solve that issue but they change my camera and gave me a scratched lens camera ..and added a statement on form that my camera lens was scratched...but when I submitted the form nothing was mentioned at that time...I feel cheated there still I don't know whether they have changed other parts or not?? I trust moto g phones. But these types of cheating broke my trust upon them..the staffs don't know how to talk to the customers....thanks to the manager he solve the problem but still I am not happy ..in my family we r using 3 Motorola's phones but after today's incidence..I will not recommend anyone to buy this phone because of the service centre incidence At last if we r trusting your company don't break our trust please......

Best phone ever, this phone launched back in late 2013, Android Lollipop is a decent Android version, in my experience I do not like Marshmallow or Nougat, Lollipop is a great OS, battery is decent, I bought a backup Moto G to use for parts so I am set for awhile. Here's my exceptional experience with my. Moto G (2 yrs 11 months old). This is the best and longest lasting phone I ever owned. The display and UI are really attractive for me, for a price under RM700 back to 3 years ago. Really flawless and less issue of lagging (if all the unnecessarily file and apps are removed). The cons are only the camera 5mp rear and less than 1 mp front & ROM (8 GB or 16GB). Heard that G4 now has a lot of issue, really hope new generation of moto G will getting better instead of getting worse.

After purchasing Moto G4 Plus within 6 month rear camera gets so much scratches on glass so that rear camera photos getting completely blur. camera quality becoming worst. I am using back cover to protect camera glass but still it got scratches. My four friends have Moto G4 plus and they all having the same issue. I went to the moto service center and they are not even ready to listen the problem. Their executives are saying that this scratch wasn't there when I purchased so they can not do anything in that. But they have to agreed on the point that it's not our fault too , it's a model design fault which moto people didn't solved at the time of Moto G4 plus and now they launched moto m with the same camera issue. But they are now providing a back cover but that will not solve the problem . I am requesting to Moto community that kindly give us a proper service so that our decision to buy Moto G4 plus will not gonna wrong. Thanking you

To be honest, this phone was one of the best purchases I have ever made. At under 200 Euros, the phone was an absolute steal. Great screen, great UI, good connectivity and a decent battery to boot. Plus you could equip it with a case that made it very resilient to drops, and also enhanced its look. The only downsides are camera (which was good given the price, but poor relative to flagships), the storage space (because I cheaped out, and got the 8 Gb version) and with recent android updates, the memory capacity. But even now, it is still a very reliable smartphone. People complaining about limitations should realize that budget phones will eventually show limitations when running the latest software. To be honest, an extra 512 MB/1 GB ram would turn this into a performer even in the current climate of smartphones. Great great phone.

Bought the Moto G in late 2013 and am still using it as a back-up phone. Battery life is spectacular, compared with the later "high end" phones I have bought. The screen has vivid colours and the hardware is nonthing but spectacluar considering the price of 1700 SEK ( about 170£ at that time), when I bought it. For fun, I downloaded Asphalt to the device- and it worked as a charm. I did that after the Moto G had been in a coupboard for nine months without recharging, and it still had some 95% of juice in it. A very good looking device it is to. Not to mention it is nearly impossible to break it. I've had it on me, unprotected, for wihte water rafting, skydiving, military exercises, to arctic environments aswell as to equarorial heat and humidity. I have dropped it in the ocean and in peat bogs and at one time a reindeer used it as a chewing toy and it still works (a bit smelly- but any way). The only downsides with the phone is the meager 8 Gb of storage and the subpar camera. Eaven so, I have taken some spectacular photographs with this phone in the right light. Battery also very poor. Please dont waste money. Look and feel is very bad. It dont look like smart phone. I can give rating as 0.5/10.

For memory problem buy a usb on the go adapter with external micro sd card max size 64gb and plug via usb .Download a programm called usb stick plugin and total commander totally free and transfer your files (video/photos/mp3) in case you need extra memory then you can transfer them to your computer.

I have been using the Moto g 1st generation for 2 years and the only problem I have is low storage ever since it had updated. I have epilepsy (seizures disorder) so, I've dropped my phone around 60 times, and 3 times in the toilet. I only got minor scratches to the corners and a tiny stratch on my screen. I've even tossed in on cement. (Seizures) And my phone works perfect. I'm getting the Moto g play 4th gen soon and hope its just as good but, more storage. Has a SD slot! Wood woot! I'll post a comment about that phone in a few weeks. :D

While the official updates stopped with Lollipop, the custom roms are updated up until Marshmallow and it seems that they're slowly porting Nougat to our devices. At the moment my Moto G is using CyanogenMod 13 (i.e. Marshmallow)

I have had the same problem with my Moto g. It engages in "pocket dialing". I place the phone in my pocket, then hear a voice speaking . Also, I try to use contacts I have entered. This phone assigns the number I have entered to a different contact person. This appears to be a problem with the touch screen.

I purchased a Moto G (3rd Gen.) recently from Consumer Cellular. It sets up well and has a few nice features but unfortunately does not run FB or Pandora with any efficiency. These two apps continually stop when on a home wifi and require manual intervention to restart almost every time. Its not official but Nougat has been ported to the 1st gen Moto G. While it is possible to brick your device its rather simple, for the most part, easy to install a custom rom. I have been running an unofficial port of Cyanogenmod 14, a modified version of Android 7, successfully for a number of weeks. Furthermore I have enabled google assistant and it works beautifully on the Moto G. Read up on the forum below and good luck!

I've had the Moto G 1st Gen for 2 years. Still works excellent. VERY disappointed to be abandoned by Lenovo when they took over Moto Mobility: no Android M update in 2015, and no security updates. With Android Pay coming and making security much more important, I won't trust Lenovo with another phone.

Motorola lied in their spec. I just bought a Moto G4. I wanted to use it for my astronomy hobby. No good at all. NO accelerometer! They state that the G4 had one. It doesn't. No compass either. Great phone. Rubbish for apps if you need an accelerometer. Are they allowed to lie?

I have been using the Moto G 1st Gen for almost 3 years now and have to say that I am absolutely pleased with it. It somethimes switches off for no reason, which is annoying, but acceptable for such an old phone. The design is good IMO, the display quality is still very nice and the plastic back doesn't increase slipping. Apart from better pictures there's absolutely nothing I really miss about it. It actually makes it pretty hard for me to find a phone similar to as it was back then now.

I have the first gen moto g for about 2 years now and I honestly feel like smashing it with a sledge hammer as many times as it takes for it to disintegrate. it takes terrible pictures, the processor speed will literally make you want to rip your hair out and im not sure if this is just me, but the smooth material-like cover on the back cover makes it more bound to fall which can be extremely irritating. only thing i like about it is its gorilla glass screen, it has survived many on purpose smashes against whatever i could smash it on at that point. the first gen moto g is the antagonist of every phone ive had so far. if youre considering buying a first gen moto g, stop right now and look otherwise, you will definitely regret buying this. I highly recommend everyone stays away from this handheld hell device.

I bought a mobile - Moto G 2nd generation during this year beginning. Initially the mobile was good and photos are fine to see. But later on it slowly getting off and the main mother board becomes dead. It is merely the manufacturing defect. I went to the nearest service centre in T Nagar, where they just checked the mobile and kept for more than 10 days and informed me that the spare was on the way. But later they returned the cell and told the software was totally off and not serviceable. I really wondered how can it possible within the short time of purchase such a big company like Moto. No reply your service people. I am planning to go consumer court for remedy.

I've had this phone for just over a year and a half, and it's probably one of the best phones I could have gotten for my lifestyle. Constantly moving, bumping, occasionally dropping. The screen and phone itself has taken quite a beating, but hasn't cracked or physically broken in any way. It's small and light, and for the first year it was very fast. The lack of memory on the phone was rather annoying, since there was no SD card slot. I got the Lollipop update way after every other Android phone, but it still ran just fine without it. It started to get slower and freeze after the first year. It heats up pretty quickly if you're not in air conditioning, and since I live in the south, that can cause problems. The front camera is very low quality, and not good for selfies (but never took any anyways). The rear facing camera also isn't that great, but much better than most phones from 2013. The speaker is fantastic on it, and I can blast music when I don't have my real speakers with me. I was worried about the charging port breaking, as that is how a lot of good phones break, but there still aren't any issues with it. The actual body of it is strong and flexible. The way this phone met its end is the SIM card slot no longer recognizing the SIM in it. I tried everything. Off and on, taking it out and putting it back in, the whole thing. My carrier (AT&T) said that they sent a signal to my SIM and got no response, meaning my fears were confirmed: my beloved Moto G 1st gen was busted. I'm getting the Moto G4, and I hope it's a better, faster version of this one. All in all, very very happy with this phone. Motorola did a great job. Would reccomend, if we were still in 2013.

Now things have changed, dude. With the lollipop the things you mentioned is just a touch away. Such shotrcuts are all put in notification bar. Seamless and easy to use. I've been using this device for almost two years (on 24th july it'll be two years) and believe me it's the most fluent device among the ones that I used before. It's not even affected by water for the long term. Hard and strong like a rock.

I bought Moto G sometimes back. Earlier had Samsung. One draw back i find compared to Samsung is that Samsung operation is more friendly. For example to put on and off in Data,Blue tooth,it is only one step process in Samsung. Where as in MotoG it is too many step process.You first go to Settings,then go to data,then put it off.this is much faster in Samsung .

This is a nice phone for the beginner. Nice features, camera etc. However, I have been using this phone for a little over 2 years now and would not recommend it to anyone. Within 3 months of first using it the phone lost its cell signal. This has been a major problem until they did an update. Off and on with the same problem.It's not dependable. Got a phone in your pocket and don't even realize it that it's not working. It took an hour with service the first time and I couldn't understand the oriental person to fix the problem. Then I found out that all you had to do is turn the phone off and on and it will correct the problem, until it happens again. At least three times in a day. What a pain in the butt. I don't think I will be purchasing another Motorola phone. Not a happy camper.

Great Phone - only gripe is the camera is poor... 5Mp is 4:3 mode, on 16:9 mode its only a max of 3.8Mp but takes poor quality pics in comparison to other phones, for 1Gb ram its nice and nimble probably due to quad-core CPU, you can upgrade to lollipop 5.1.1 as of May 2016, good battery life if only turn on data when you want to use it I get 3-5 days between charges, leave data on 24/7 and you will be charging daily almost - definitley the best budget phone you can get today (the 3rd Generation ((which has a 13Mp cam + more)) can be had on Giff-Gaff unlocked for £119)

Please provide us the updates with optimized features like 1.one touch data activation(even if we inserted single sim we need to go to setting panel of data activation) so make it faster by providing single tap activation.. 2. contacts app (to delete some contacts we need to go for edit option then go to the options in that screen then go for delete option,,) soo irritating Right ? 3. Modify the messeging app ( there is no option for deleting multiple msgs by selecting in a single thread.. But there is option to delete whole msg thread, so make it more useful) 4. If we forgot the pattern there is no recover option from locked screen ( my suggestion is to give one recovery pin which is to be set at the time of setting the pattern or else send link to mail id to reset the pattern , doing so we will not loose any data) 5. Dont buy Motog3 mobile, there are many issues. My mobile only 2 months old, SD card not detecting. Hardware issue, when i handover the mobile to service centre they said they need 3 weeks to services it. When i called customer care no support from moto customer care also. No proper response Its very very bad service ever i seen in my life. First of all why i need to accept faulty mobiles? Why they need to sell customers. For service why we need to wait for 3~4 weeks. Have been using the Moto G (1st Gen) phone for 1.5 years now. The phone works absolutely fine and does not hang up like my previous Samsung phone. Even my Nokia phone used to hang sometimes but i have never faced this problem with Moto G. I'm a tad disappointed with the battery (lasts for about 8-9 hours) and the camera (good but a bit grainy at times) though. However, i still recommend this for people who can ignore those two minor weaknesses. One word of caution... this phone may not do great with Lollipop version of Andriod.

After much research on a new phone I dededed to go with the Moto G 3rd due to it's compatible bands with local 4g lte service in my area. This phone is a disapointment. The camera and flashlight shake on feature often does not work. The voice quality on speaker phone does not come through clearly. Have owned cel phones since 1996. All of them came with frequent audible voice mail and or blinking light. This one does not. I depend on it for work. If the phone is not with me 24/7, or I am in a noisy environment I will miss the one only audible alert for voice mail and text.

For the past few years I have had several phones (blackberry, samsung, lg). None of these phones survived the horrible falls they made (I am very clumsy). The screen always broke, the sides missed parts. But this phone, is (for me) the new unbreakable Nokia. I have the Moto G 1st Generation. And dropped it many times these past 3 months (even fell phone first to the ground). A little scratch, hardly visible. Screen is still perfect. For the rest, I love the amount of space I have for pictures, apps and everything else you need (unlike Samsung, where you install 1 app and your phone starts working slow. So are you a clumsy person who likes to have a lot of apps, music, pictures or videos on your phone? Then this is the right phone for you!

I've been using it for about a year and a half and it has been such a good device. It was my first smartphone and I feel as if it is the best device to get into the android world. It was pretty cheap, but very worth it. I do find it to lack power when I am using it sometimes. It freezes for a few seconds once in a while and becomes very slow. Most of the time, it runs very smoothly. I don't like putting restrictions on devices because they are 'not as powerful' as flagships, so I have been using it quite extensively since I've had it. Sending texts, playing games, taking pictures, social media apps, watching videos, etc. Sure it doesn't run as fast as other phones, but I didn't spend 800bucks on it either.

Using Moto G for a year now. Never had any problems. Great charging and great battery time. Screen res. is awesome and you can see the screen for hours and your eyes won't hurt. Sound is good, gaming is good but it only crashed when i was playing Asphalt 8 since it is a heavy game and camera is fine.

I had brought MOTO G and I always had charging issues with the phone. Now a month before the display - touch screen started malfunctioning. From last 1 month MOTOROLA service centre claims that they have no parts to repair and there are lot of pending devices. Everytime I get a call from their L2 service centre in Hyderabad they give me a date any again a new date. Do not buy MOTOROLA phones they have failed at service and support.

Moved to motorala after using Samsung S3 for almost 2.5 years. 20 days experience with Moto isn't that exciting. Few basic things such as one touch shortcut for Mobile data, select multiple contacts, clear all recent apps in one go, LED notification for messages etc are missing. These things make huge difference for me, at least in the initial days. Otherwise, performance is good. Battery could have been better. Adaptive brightness doesn't work well.

Hi all, I bought MOTO G3 2 months back. Now it is not displaying the name/ phone numbers of any incoming call. It just displays "Unknown number calling". I tried restarting my phone, re-fitting my sim card, finally FORMATTED it also, but upto no avail. I am really dis-appointed and pissed off. The customer Care guys say you have to come to us and we don know what the problem is. I had a samsung phone before, now I feel we pay heavily for the brand because they have better quality checks done... Feeling 13K down the drain, when a phone is not doing its primary function itself properly. I am switching back to my old phone now, thank god I din sell it.

Looking at the specification I bought the mobile.. Exactly after 1 week the screen touch is not working.. Screen touch is operating automatically.. Battery pick up is little bit lower if you addicted to games or browsing.. No file manager.. Not exact performance for 2GB ram.. Lot more to improve... Moto g3 is just a average mobile..

The Motorola G3 is simply the bandwidth ,like the speed of phone 3G verus 46 I qhve the Motorola g and it's a good for if you get the one that has more than 8 gig of. On board memory it s a great phone. I had the Samsung galaxys2 but I cracked my screen and decided to go with a phone that has long standby time and this one works for 2 p'us days with no recharge ,so far it's a fine phone ,and the settting are very easy to use and the signal seems pretty great .I thing Samsung make a great phone , I use the textnow service for 20 bucks a month and I have unlimited everything even bandwidth is when you runout past the allots amount you buy then it goes to 2g automatically so your ne without. Internet ability for surfing, I also just bought the new lLG Volt 4G LTE (LS740-WHITE- for 27 buck delivered and the screen is 4.7 verus 4.5 plus it has a sad card slot to upgrade storage which is a drawing card fir me ,plus the talk time is 6 plus hours more and still it's warranted. Although the only constraint of limited memory 8 GB I have been never had any problem in using the MOTO G. Infact it gives the feel of Nexus. It has been one year plus the phone never hanged or heated up. If you compare MOTO G with MOTO G2, I would recommend MOTO G. Phone is amazing. Its picture clearity, sound, Battey backup, easy to use and above all some the Only MOTO G Apps are superb.

I have had the first gen moto g since it came out, and I bought the 2nd gen as soon as it came out. Both are good very capable phones. Also very durable. I use both of mine on a fairly regular basis (I have 4 phones I rotate through at any given time). As I write this, I have also already put in my order for the 3rd gen and I am quite sure it will impress. Even at 2 years old, my first gen moto g gives me roughly 14 hour battery life and average of 5 hrs screen time. The 2nd gen averages 10 hours battery with 4 hours screen time.

Yes I am viewing those vertical lines on the screen too. Also, I am experiencing an issue with the front camera. While clicking selfies, the camera turns to a white screen and freezes for a good. 1-1.5 seconds and the selfie is clicked only after that.

Since recent Android update, auto connect on wifi will ONLY work if an Internet connection is idenified. This can be bypassed by goig into the list of your wifi AP's, select the AP you wish to connect to and select connect. Really handy update if you have an action camera (GoPro, SJ4000 etc or FPV drone) Google, thanks for that!

Change your WiFi channel to be under 9. This is well known issue not only for Moto. Best channels are 1,3 and 6 but this is depending of all other WiFi routers around you.

Awesome device to use on WIFI. Verizon prepaid 1st gen Moto G was on sale at Best Buy for $20-25 with $25 reward so I ended up getting three for about US$50. Love the 326ppi display, build quality, design, curved back ergonomics with soft touch material, loud clear speaker, good WIFI reception across different floors, built-in radio tuner, long battery life, snappy performance, light Android skin, etc. and camera is very decent in good lighting. Only drawback is only 8GB internal storage but plenty usable if you don't install a lot of large games but it supports OTG external storage. Getting an OTG flash drive so I can dedicate one as a file and media server. Don't hesitate to snatch these up when on sale or free with money back reward. 1st gen is true Motorola which won't be the same with later generations since Lenovo took over.

This phone performs good. The only issue i have is that phone calls can barely be heard so i have to switch on the loudspeaker. The battery life isnt that long enough as it lasts only less than 4 hours for internet and or gaming. Otherwise overall performance is good and great for its price.

First off, this is an amazing phone for the price. I've never owned a device that preforms as well as the Moto G for under $200. The display is great, 720 x 1280 looks brilliant on this device. Parimarrly becuase of the size, its 4.5 inches. Which is perfect for one-handed use and is suitable for the price. I previously owned a Moto X, hands-down great device. Comparing the two, the displays look similar. The Moto G's display is a tinny bit sharper But the AMOLED display on the Moto X produces deeper blacks and vividly strong colors that are bold and exciting. The Moto G's black levels are fairly deep and the colors are bright and compeling but just are not as good as the Moto X's But is still has a grade A quality display for a $200 smartphone. The build quality is great, its strong and there are no creaks at all. The design is basically the same as the Moto X, the both have that outstanding ergonomic curve that feels conforming in the hands. I must say the Moto X looks more premium with smaller speaker holes and a slimer body than the Moto G and bezel. The Moto G's bezels are pretty thin on the top and sides of the phone but the bottom bezel is fairly large, which is unattractive for users. Although It's large is blends in quite well with the form factor, the front of the phone is very sleek and streamlined for the price. The preformance is great, its fairly fast. The snappy preformance lets this phone glide through day to day activities with no lags present.With developers options enabled you can tweak the speed of this device. The software is perfect, near stock android fits this device well. Android Lollipop has been rolled out the Moto G's around the world making this device even more of a steal. The camera is nothing to complain about but is also nothing to brag about. it preforms well in good lighting providing some details. for under $200 this camera is perfectly fine. To sum it all up this phone is amazing for the price. You get a HD diplay, Snappy preformance, Decent camera qualities, A great UI and a well built device for under $200, my only compiant is no Micro SD card slot. Which actually isn't a big deal, well is you get the 16GB variant. For those who own a 8GB model you can use a USB OTG flash drive. Just slimply plug it in and you have more storage. Bought the 16 Gb version through amazon at a great price, I've had it for 3 weeks and have no complaints whatsoever. Excellent Motorola quality, reliable, good reception and quick. Yesterday I got over the air update to 5.0.2, around 350 Mb! Downloaded it thru wifi in just around 20 minutes. I have taken pretty good pictures with the camera, you just need to learn all of the functions it offers. I would recommend to check out the manual first so you can see everything the phone offers. Just google moto g manual!

The phone is ok. But the thing is it will break even from freely falling from a height of just 2 feet. To repair you need to replace the touch display unit. This will cost you very dearly, Rs.5300/- Motorola people will chat you very nicely but they will direct you to go to their service center for replacement of the unit at your own cost. Will a sensible person ever buy this unit for this price?? when quality smart phones are available from Rs.4000/- This is what happened with me when the age of my phone was just 7 months. I've been using moto G for almost a year now and I can say that this phone is amazing. The phone is easy to hold and at 4.5", the screen is large enough to enjoy browsing and videos and small enough for single handed use. Top notch build quality, super sharp display, flawless performance, great battery life and pure premium android experience. What else can we expect at this price point? I was previously using Galaxy S2 and the only thing I felt as a downgrade was the rear camera. Yes, I miss the S2's camera but all other aspects skyrockets above my previous phone. I recently updated my moto G to Lollipop 5.0.2 and at first I regretted due to the performance and battery drop post update. But, I cleared the cache/junk files of KitKat and now the phone is much faster and battery life has also improved. It is now as fast and efficient as KitKat, and Lollipop feels awesome! Totally feels like an all new phone.

It is when you do it from the fastboot option by entering the recovery mode. Look for it on google but dont do it if you dont need to bcause you can mess up your phone. :)

If you have a sd memory card in the phone the pics and videos may be there take it out and get a card reader to transfer them to your comp. If not get your self one and transfer from phone to memory sd micro. hope this helps, C.

So I have give in the aauthorised service centre on 25-3-2015 vide service note no AMSMUD000204 dated 25-3-2015. But still it is not repaired. i actually recommend this phone i dont own it but looking at the specs the battery is great on life being 2070 mAh. good java internet browser . the camera is good pixels for the phone and the operating system is good. jelly bean and kitkat os a probably the best type you want with a phone. and has quad core which should make the phone faster then regular dual core phones

Hi ur hang issue in ur moto g it can be corrected by doing just wiping the cache partition so that the old temporary files of KitKat will get removed and old apps .. U can say it just remaining files of apps u have installed and uninstalled.. Just search in Google about wiping cache partition of moto g whichever gen OK best of luck it works I have done it

I have this one grouse-the brightness level. Why does it have a zero brightness level? Its pointless. By mistake I tapped on the lowest point on the brightness spectrum and then it took me abt half an hour to get the brightness to normal and actually see anything on my phone. I've had this Moto G 16Gb for over a year now. I've never had a better one, and it does EVERYTHING I need without any errors. (Email, Internetting, whatsApp, phone, camera, FB, you name it). It is amazing, an I paid around �175 for it in NL. Too bad I can't put in an SD card, but up to now and after over 1500 photo' s I haven't reached the end (still 6 Gb free ;) Still happy I bought it!

I bought this phone randomly because a coworker recommended it. The week following it was in the internet how this phone saved Motorola. It even compared it to Samsung Galaxy S4. I've dropped it multiple times from high elevation to still works. Yes it has glitches but easily fixed just google. Its worth every cent and I love it and plan to stay with it for awhile.

Do not buy this phone. Motorola are making money from repairs. In my opinion the phone has a design fault and is not fit for purpose. It slid off my knee and although the outside of the phone was unmarked the inside was broken. They want me to pay for repairs and I have refused. I am taking legal advice as I would like to challenge them in the courts.

Only to share a few words. Even that G has great thing to offer, like screen, dry android experience, great ergonomy there are many negatives too. Unfortunately I went trough most of them. First, the usb cable was DOA, then phone didn't want to power up after full discharge, my back cover started to creak only after two weeks even if I have opened it not more than twice carefully and it only got worst. When bluetooth is activated along with wifi at the same time, browsing is heavily compromised. Audio headphone output is lousy and noisy (yes I have turned of all the EQ settings), and at the end headphone socket is loosing contact and google now is activating as a part of malfunction "did you say something, if you did, I did not understand it, can you repeat it once more" ---- GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY YOU B--CH!! lol Yes it is budget phone, I know , but there are too many flaws with this phone as well as glowing reviews which from this point I can not understand.

Don't upgrade to lollipop. I just did it in my moto g 1st gen. Its 5.0.2 now. Not I can't open any ppts with more then 5 slides. It keep crashing. I used QuickOffice,Slides and MS Office but nothing works. Dialing numbers is very slow. Its keep changing fancy colours buty req is quick call and no lag. I am not sure but it looks I have to go for factory setting. My feedback - lollypop sucks.. I was very happy with KitKat.

Purchased this phone based on the reviews. Reality doesn't match the hype.When accessing the phone using my security number the numbers drift on the screen so I press 7 and the number 8 appears. Apps disappear overnight. No alerts so you have to open your messages and e mail to see new ones. Yes it makes a sound but that's not really helpful. No charge either. This phone is overated and overpriced. Why so many tech sites rate this phone is beyond me. There are much better cheaper phones out there. Don't believe the hype. I won't be buyind a Motorola again.

you can turn off camera sound in lollipop.. it also possible to set set new ringtones just copy the file to 'ringtones' folder using any file manager then you can set that ring tone... there is not 'silent mode' in lollipop.instead of that there is 'priority mode' in which you can set 'silent mode' according to your convenience... don't know about wifi as i don't use it. those who are having complaints with lollipop update please try factory reset. as for me only complaint i have is lag in 'dialer'

bro moto E2 is soon going to be launched at this same screen size however ppi will be a bit less but no big issue because you also have to pay very less for everything almost same as moto g first gen. Expected price is 8000 Rs. Only drawback is ppi less than moto g first gen. all other things are quite similar. front camera is just a VGA if you dont use front camera a lot then definitely this will turn your head around. Also motorola is now adding autofocus to its moto E's 5 MPX rear camera. Improved processor and GPU will definitely attract people.

Despite some glitches in the 5.0.2 update, Moto G runs smoother on Lollipop than on Kitkat. It seems that the RAM management has improved in this update. Hopefully, the glitches will be fixed in a minor update in the coming days.

@ vivekvk There isn't a 'silent' mode on Lollipop because Google decided that we don't need it anymore! Amazing, isn't it. I've been able to select 'Silent' on every mobile I've owned in the last 20 years. The good news is following lots of complaints, Google is going to include it again the the forthcoming Android 5.1 which will also correct a lot of other problems that Google made with Lollipop. Meanwhile, there are plenty of 'Mute' apps available on the Play Store which will work until this mess is sorted out.

@ moto g ist You've got it wrong, I don't hate Lollipop, I just hate the mess Google made of it. I have it on my Nexus 5, and it didn't take long to find it's shortcomings. Lollipop has it's good points,e.g. ART runtimes, which was long over due; but it was rushed out without proper testing. Aesthetically it is ugly! The dialer looks like something out of the 80's. I had to use Exdialer to make it look anywhere presentable, and Chomp SMS for messaging. Then look at all the complaints users are posting here and on the Nexus 5 Forum for this rushed out mess. It shouldn't happen, and it is disgraceful that Google has to issue an update to correct the faults after such a short time after release. My Moto G is going to stay on KitKat until Google get it right, because right now it isn't!

its rolled out as per the IMEI nos.. wat ever lolipop updates they rollout is of soak test ones... official is not yet released...

Motorola doesn't encourage this type of updating that is why they are saying that you won't get any future updates & void your warranty etc. You know why if every one starts updating by downloading the zip file from XdA forums then what is the use of OTA update when Motorola finaly release it? ..so this update is mainly for those who can't wait for the update from Motorola itself.

no..after installing this version of lollipop moto will not support for future updates or even warrenty wud be over ( as i discussed with moto representative on live chat)
