Motorola Moto G 4G (2nd gen) - User Reviews

  • The comments about not having LTE 4g are crap, this phone is great, still going strong running Lineage OS custom ROM and i bought it when it was released

  • 2g only for this phone so fake ID

  • 1.Can moto g2 xt1068 phone's mother board be replaced with this moto g2 xt1072?? 2.Does the sim card also needs to be replaced??

  • Not sport 4g and no camera not sport and only 3g

  • i have this phone from last 16 month and this is the worst phone ever i have used. This have issue with continuous 4g connection it lost the connection every 5 min, Even if i am not using any apps this phone shows the Used RAM is 98% i dont know why. It camera app is not gud. this phone have many issue from 1 day . some time i am not able to pick a call it hangs very badly.

  • Check with your mobile provider and ask them to ensure that 4G is enabled on your sim card. I had this problem with O2 4G sim card and one call to an advisor at O2 put it right....

  • jio 4g not working,it can not read jio 4g sim

  • My moto g2nd gen LTE 4g Woking

  • LTE problem on my moto g2 Buffering the LTE simble net on off problem. Not continues lte on

  • yes, but in english !!

  • Ya bro iam using jio sim in it but the 4g is not at all working well it always show connection lost what should I do

  • I've had this phone for about 18 months now. It cost less than A$200 and I never regretted buying it. It failed once in the first year and was repaired under warranty by Motorola. This phone has all the features that I wanted including compass and accelerometer sensors that are often not available in phones in this price range. The phone's main camera takes pretty good photos for its specs in daylight but the results are poor once the ambient light starts to fade. If I could change one thing on this phone it would be to give it a better battery life. Most of the time I get through the whole day before needing a charge but heavy use (especially with GPS on) can leave it going flat.

  • Do this phone have vietnamese language

  • Hi...motorola can u give a volte update for moto g2nd 4g....this mobile handset under android update police (18 Month) but no any hint for update for volte and nougat... Shame on you motorola.xaomi doing well in case ofsoftware update.

  • @Manju This phone *is* 4G LTE. Other versions of the Moto G may not, but the Moto G 2nd Gen 4G definitely does support 4G!

  • Moto G2nd 4g

  • Very bad phone. Network problem maximum time.

  • Heating too much and Memory card not detected sometimes then I am opening back door and removing memory card and kept memory card it is showing why this is getting this problem please help

  • Mine performed flawlessly. I never had any problems with it. The only reason I sold it was due to my upgrading to a totl phone. Btw, I only paid $100 for the Moto G 4G LTE at US Cellular in Jan, 2015.

  • the best phone on camera

  • wise opinion DON'T go for it. 1. very slow 2. not able to pick incoming calls 3. very offen your phone will be shown out of range of switched off(If u call network care they will tell its your handset issue) 4. battery drains 5. Hitting issues

  • I got the android 6 update last week but the gsmarena page didn't update the info. How often do they update related information?

  • Yes. I am also facing the same problem. Battery drains very fast and its get very hot when i charge the mobile or use the internet

  • This phone's battery is junk, bought this at Walmart. I tried to take this back and exchange this. But no they only have a 15 day return policy. This battery gets hot and feels like I left it in the back window of a car while shopping. Battery charge does not last all day. I keeps hanging up on people while on a call. Please don't by a Motorola 2nd generation with LTE, it's J-U-N-K!

  • Have not been able to answer incoming calls. Would like a detail list of procedure to answer the incoming call. Four other people have tried, to no avail.

  • after the recent marshmallow update, my phone's battery drians off quicly.. the phone becomes exceptionally hot most of the times.. any of you Moto G2 users facing the same issue?

  • My mobile not working 4g

  • all of a sudden microphone is not working on phone call.Suggestion welcome for rectifying problem

  • set 2g or 3g in your mobile networks

  • Your Motorola's 4G band may not be available in your actual carrier's antennas system. Give it a double check.

  • Why does not my 4g ????

  • My 4G SIM shows no service. how to rectify this problem...

  • I have the same situation,my 4 g is not working, but when I put the sim in my lg g3 it will work, what's the deal?

  • Why does my 4g not work on my phone ?

  • I bought this phone today. Nd i determined that some lag on screen the touch is not work smoothly. What i do

  • I want to buy a phone galaxy on5 or moto g2 4g which is better

  • I am using this handset from the day of launch, i love the set so much in all aspect except the screen which irritates me the most. When i compared the screen with xperia i feel it has a purple tint always present. You can see some lines from corner to corner if you look the display from sides. However i managed the tint with some app but still i am not satisfied, it really gives a cheap feeling. Now i hate my set so much only because of this.

  • I have been using the mobile for 1 month...... so far it is good....lollipop is irritating.... but now I faced the problem with memory card....few second after inserting, it shows " SD CARD RWMOVED UNEXPECTEDLY ".....Someone tell me how to solve it....my mail I'd is [email protected]......

  • How is the battery back up?? Screen on time?? Video on time? WiFi? 3g on time? 4g on timd?

  • The moto g is one of the best smartphone when it comes to spend less than 200$ with decent camera result. The build quality is ok, the display big and crisp enough for its price and the processor does its work pretty nicely... obviously it can't compete with other flagship on the market but if you are looking for a cheap, great smartphone, this is exactly what you should get!

  • Two years ago, the Moto G was the best budget handset around, offering a good screen size and a quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset that were ahead of its time for the price. Six months ago, the Moto G (2014) kept the same internals, while increasing the screen size to still feel like a great budget option. With this latest variant, the glacially-changing Moto G line is finally starting to show its age, particularly in light of growing competition from Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi. The Moto G 4G (2015) remains a good budget phone, but we hope that the next Moto G - which we're expecting to see later in the year - takes a big step forward in terms of hardware so it can keep up with its rivals.

  • Front cemara normal and front cemara very bad

  • the magnet IS the problem. you could try inserting a thin piece of metal between the leather and the case so the magnet doesent interfere with your phone. it worked for me but i riped the leather part of the plastic case before i figured out it was the magnet and i had to glue the two back together. you could just try inserting it without riping anything off. gl :)

  • moto g 2nd 4g is best.but one problem iam facing OTG Cable not support IDEA net setter plz Solution

  • is call conference option present in this phone??

  • Same problem here with cases. Phone us one week old. I Tried two different branded cases. Screen goes black when trying to unlock the phone in the case. Without the case the phone unlocks ok. I think it has something to do with the magnet in the flip case.

  • I just got this phone on an upgrade and trusting motorola having had last years edition I didnt look at specs thinking it would be better anyway. Why has Motorola just put 1GB of RAM in the phone. It was a main selling point in me getting the previous one.And now another model is coming out shortly with 2GB RAM,what are they playing at? K

  • I have a same problems.. and a few more problems. lollipop 5.0.2 are the probleme and more bugs

  • XT1078 version has 16 GB internal storage. All other information on XT1072 here seems to match XT1078.

  • Having problems with my Moto G 2nd gen 4G - when I put it in a case and try to unlock the phone, it unlocks for a second, then the screen goes dark and it locks again. Oddly works fine out of the case. Tried 2 cases - same problem. Any ideas ?

  • been looking at this phone, love it but has issues as do so many phones but also thinking about the Sony Xperia T3 as like style and design. Both phones on offer in argos "sim Free" which would you guys go for???????

  • Anyone know if you can use an external TRRS microphone with this unit?

  • The Moto G 4G 2nd Gen. XT1072, 2015 with; 5" Display, 2 Front Speakers, 4G, and 1 SIM - SHOULD USE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE; Case, and Screen Protector as - Moto G 2nd Gen. 2014, XT1068, with; 5" Display, 2 Front Speakers, 3G, and 2 SIMs. - Two SIMS Versus One SIM doesn't alter the physical case shape size.

  • If you definitely wanted a white one than buy a white case, but The Motorola Flip cases are faulty: 1st magnet is too strong and the 2nd generation the magnet is too weak: I cannot recommend any case, because I haven't found the correct case yet (shockproof) protect the phone's display if it falls onto a concrete floor.

  • The problem with white is that it easily display marks compared to black. A black picture frame wither television or smartphone display the colour better.

  • I would have bought this if it was available in white

  • 4 week Experience= 1)advice -buy an separate sd card atleast 16gb sd -have separate ear/headphones -buy a separate micro usb sync cable 2)review -battery life can take you about a day with continuous usage -rear camera is okay but hit or miss. -front camera is good. -quality is actually good although plastic -display is very good. 720p hd. bright. good! -performance is good. ok for everyday tasks. Dont overload it though. can handle any game you through at it but i wouldnt say they all work maybe 6/10 trippleA work well.Multitasking and speed is good. Not excellent but good. problems -some performance issues but that is due to lollipop memory management problem, can only open up to about 5-7 apps at once for it to work very well and fast. 12-15 apps open at once will slow it down. -sometimes call quality was a bit bad. -whole phone is a finger print magnet. -speakers arent that good.they loud though. overall review= 7.3/10 very good phone for the phone.I recommend it to anyone.

  • i post the link from Amazon USA. .it is stated GLOBAL UNLICKED. Last i boght G 4G lte from US Amazon using in Idonesia. I have no problem. My Moto G still running ok. I hope this time will work same way. Do not buy just any unlocked. It has to be Global Unlocked phone

  • I think that you could only buy a Global Moto G 4G 2nd Gen., XT1072 Phone in Europe. I also don't think that the USA actually has the equivalent of a XT1072 phone: I probably got that information from Motorola, but I can't remember whether it was from Motorola UK or USA or both. Erica Griffin in one of her www.YouTube.co.uk videos also stated that she purchased a USA Moto G 2nd Gen. 2014 phone. If she had known she would had purchased the European Global version - Had more bandwidth was one advantage, I think. In the UK if we purchased a locked phone we can pay to have it unlock, and the phone could then be used by any network company, but in the USA there is a different system: Even if you unlock the phone they still may not allow you to use their Network - I thought was a con. Oligopoly in economics is when a handful of companies have complete control of a market. Similar to a Monopoly which has one company that has complete control of a market, but Oligopoly is were an handful of companies have complete control.

  • You should check with the network that you are going to use before buying a phone especially in the USA. This is because some networks won't provide deals for phones not purchased from themselves. I have forgotten what it is called, but it is a rip-off in the USA.

  • Where do live ? I plan to buy from Amazon US. Unlocked global version. Check out the frequency of the phone. If it will work in your area.

  • what is the status of the phone when compared to lava iris x8 pls tell me guys thank u

  • is a must have phone.people.

  • Can we use shell of older moto g 2014 to this 4g moto g 2014???

  • how to buy this phone

  • Hey guys can any1 tell me that this phone is water resistance or not can we wash the phone? And plz tell me 4g version is available in India or not does it have any problems? and does it have lollipop at unboxing?

  • Where did you get it from please? I want to get one too.

  • I have now got the moto g 2nn gen 4g,do you think I have made the right chose? It was this or the moto E 2nd gen?

  • It is definitely the phone as nothing else has changed. The 1st generation has full reception and in the same place the 2nd generation has almost 0. Shame really as it is a great phone

  • would that be the network provider, or place? or is that defo the phone?

  • Great phone and fantastic video quality. 2 problems I have found are it only has 4GB of usable internal memory and the signal quality is much worse with this 2nd generation compared to the 1st generation.

  • what do you mean?

  • Gorilla Glass with Scratches after 1 week of use. Got mine a week ago moto g 2nd gen XT1068 dual sim version. Updated it to lollipop and I'd say it works great. The only problem that I had for this phone is the "Screen". I never used it quite often yet and after 1 week of use it already has 2 1-inch size hairlike scratches on the lower 3rd of the screen. I haven't used it that much and never put it in a pocket with keys or coins so I'm surprised it had these scratches. I have been very careful with it because of the replacement policy but I was surprised on what happen. I remove the factory screen plastic 3 days after purchase believing it has Gorilla glass and the screen is clear at that time. Never drop it and never used it with sand or hard steel. Only gone to (clean)pocket to hands, just that. I have been a user of "Nexus 10" tablet for 2 years now with Gorilla glass 2 on it without any screen guard and even now there is still not a single scratch on it, I even put things on top of it like keys and coins, even used rough cloth to wipe out the finger prints, even used it as a pingpong racket once, still no scratches. So I suggest for users to put screen protector on it. I don't know, maybe because my Nexus 10 was made in Korea unlike my Moto G that is made in China, maybe they have a different way of making Gorilla Glass in that part of the world. @Morgan: Screen viewing is great, even though lower than 300 ppi. I used it to read some of my pdf files on the go and no problem reading small letters. It's very hard even if you try to find any pixelations on the screen. Watching movies is great as well. Scratches can only be seen if screen is turned off and focusing it to a light.

  • What's the screen quality like? Can someone please reply... Many thanks

  • great phone coming from a s3 mini it's a whole new world. smooth, fast and battery long over a normal day of use.

  • im in the same situation as you. ive made up my mind im gunna go with the moto g 2gen with 4g

  • goto motorola mobile centre

  • internal memory is 8 GB, 1 GB RAM...

  • I saw a solution to this problem recently, but I can't remember which website or YouTube's video I saw it on. I went back to basics: Search the question using Google Chrome, 'Restore Moto G2 from lollipop to KitKat' and than searched for the key words in YouTube I would probably start with YouTube videos: Searched in Google Chrome: If necessary contact Motorola UK: Hope this helps you.

  • If you download and install NAVMII GPS WORLD u don't need data, works great for me. You can download from Google Play for free.

  • Do Moto G 4G 2nd Generation, support 'GLONASS' as side by side with A-GPS?

  • I upgrade my moto g2 from kitkat to lollipop now its not performing well so can any1 tel me how can i degrade it from lollipop to kitkat.

  • good but ,,,,,,

  • use memory card ;)

  • how many the free space?

  • Wat I can do wit a 8gb

  • This mobile will work on USA.

  • ..it's a stereo speekers..,brainy...

  • why is that 2 lines for ? that metal lines make phone looks old.

  • It should be 16GB of ROM is req.....

  • No, only 8GB.

  • Doesn't this device have 16g memory?

  • Please elaborate. Are you only getting 2G from Tmobile in the US?

  • sir g u took a phone and run away from the shop

  • 2g on tmobile,lame as hell

  • Yes. Even Moto E has better configurations (except for the camera).

  • H hey man 2390 mag battery is enough for a whole day.

  • we want the 410 or 615 for moto G 2nd gen

  • Motorola is really good at cracking jokes. A namely new generation but still sticking to 2011 specs.

  • This phone is decent. Cpu is pretty outdated though. Snapdragon 410 would have been more welcomed in 2015.

  • Can point out a phone with a 40000 man battery in this price range???? STFU

  • The Chinese model of this phone is being sold for 1499 Chinese Yuan, which is roughly the same price we are paying for the UK model with no Dual SIM feature and half the storage space.

  • yaa dude... but than also we need big battery for heavy usage... and big battery need in travel or tour... so...

  • not really a bargain, doesn't say anything about expandable storage. on;y 8 GB internal and that's about it. it's almost a bargain.

  • exactly, they would like to have 5000mah sdragon 899, 8gb ram and 10k screen, everything under 200$, maybe then they wouldn't complain. if you want higher specs, pay more fking money, this phone is already a bargain

  • Then it would cost 500$ and you won't be able to afford it

  • snapdragon 615 would've been a better choice.. and yes battery at least 2800 mAh

  • The Chinese model of this phone is being sold for ¥1499 (Chinese Yuan) which is roughly the same price we are paying for the UK model with no Dual SIM feature and half the storage space.

  • my dear friend you are right but install battery doctor go to settings and turn on auto kill apps go to ignore list and remove all apps.this is the setting now you will get 40% more battery life, thanks

  • Shame on Motorola. We need 16GB internal & 128GB Expandable as like Microsoft given. Also 1.5/2GB Ram.Because it is 4G handset & the time for HD movies& songs it is important to advance for the same.In 32GB their is nothing to do.You have to buy a Laptop to store above 32 GB.So why don't you give 64/128 GB external?!It shame for 4G handset.

  • only 2390 mah battery ..... why not 3000 or 4000 ? its really a big shame on motorola ... we need minimum 3000 OR 4000 for heavy daily usage .
