This is my sweetest phone I've ever used. I have more phones now, but this is the only phone which always remain in my drawer for emergency uses which can last for about weeks sometimes. This moto x 2013 is actually my Nutella Brownie which is the sweetest phone off 2013 days. Although it's not like it used to be a while back, but still it has an impressive battery life and charges from 0% to 100% within 1.5 hours with a 5V 2A charger. Despite that the operating system is now slow and lags more often; still this is the smartest and intelligent phone which I think should be considered a phone for emergencies as well as for daily usage. This moto x 2013 has never disappointed me. I think I will keep it with me forever. Short review: You can play almost all games except pubg. The battery drain is no more static; it keeps on draining overnight upto 6% only. Which i think is impressive considering that it is a great grandfather now. I've used almost all children of moto x, but none of them could beat this phone.

I used Moto x for 3 yrs till 2016, after that switched to couple of new generation phones due to battery issues. Recently my latest phone broke and pulled out my old Moto x. It works like a charm. Now I realize the beauty of Moto x. So compact and perfect..Love the AMOLED display.. My flagships seem like a ugly duckling in front of it.. If Google or Motorola can again release the same MotoX again with better battery and RAM, I would blindly buy it for any price..

Bought my Moto-X (XT1058) in December 2013. As others have pointed out, this was perhaps the "perfect" smartphone design for ergonomics. Great feel and control in the hand. Button placement is great. Screen is nice and bright. For its day it was a top of the line performer. It is now July 2018 and I've officially retired the Moto-X 1st Gen. and am now using the New Moto-G6 Play. I prefer the (2013) for a few reasons, but it does have it's drawbacks. First however, I must point out why I have upgraded. The USB charging started to get a bit wonky about 2 weeks ago. As it got progressively worse, the USB Data connections also began to deteriorate. Finally, 3 days ago, USB data died altogether, and USB charging was extremely finicky, requiring a reboot in order to take a charge. After 4.5 years, can we really complain? I've never had a cell phone or smart phone last over 2 years until this Moto-X. I say that's a great testament to the phone. Perhaps it is a battery issue... At some point I may get a replacement battery to test that theory, (although the battery is the original 2013 battery and has performed well over all, except when heavy gaming)... Now the good: Fast processor for it's day still holds its own 4 years later. 32MB Ram was astounding in 2013 and is still respectable today. Main camera was very good in 2013 and is still ok by todays standards (capable of slo-mo, HD still and HD video). NFC Capable which puts this phone ahead of many others today, still! Small size, fits perfectly in hand or a pocket without poking out and looking ridiculous! Easy to service: Ive replaced the screen once (much easier than ANY iPhone!) and the battery is even easier to replace. The Moto-X 2013 (XT1058) is 4G compatible. The bad: No SD slot! I ordered the 32GB version in 2013 because of this and I've thanked myself every day since. At 32 GB this phone is still competent today, but no SD slot was the worst aspect of this phone then, and now. No FM. There have been many times I wished I had FM, but the 2013 left it out. Reception is not as good as other phones. (Ive tested this side by side with same Carrier against an iPhone, and the iPhone always had better reception. Android stopped support for this Moto-X in 2016 with Lollipop 5.1... And finally, the USB charging and USB data connections began to deteriorate after 4 years and finally became nearly non-functional. (Although there may be a battery related cause to this... unknown) All-in-all the XT1058 has been the best phone I've ever owned, without a doubt. We shall see how the Moto-G6 Play holds up.... I like the G6 Play, but I'm not expecting it to last more than a couple years!

The phone of the melinium if Nokia 3310 is something to remember in 2000's so should be lmotox for the 2010 melinium . It's a price of art with the best hardware of it's time still enough for Danny needs in 2018. Mine just died last week when it's screen broke to pieces and turned black though the system is still funtional . I wish someone can copy the design of this marvelous device and realise it again. Currently have Google pixel, though it's faster but it's uncomfortable to use even with two hands.

I bought the device as 'new', directly from a Parallel Imported store. It was sealed in it's original and with manufacturer's packaging. As again, it works fine for daily use with a few stutters here and there. The latest Android Firmware Version in device is the official Lollipop 5.1; it is unable to upgrade higher than that. Battery life is mostly okay (as being new), except for pressured usage where the percentage dips a lot. If it had the Qualcomm's QuickCharge 2.0 technology, I will have considered it the best smartphone in the world (Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset still handles N.F.S. Most Wanted & Real Drift Racing games quite well). But..the compact screen size and one handed compatibility far outweigh the battery charging speed. :-)

This phone is still functioning very smoothly as my daily driver; a smart downgrade from Moto X 2014 mainly due to it's screen size and one handed comfortability. The original moto x had the perfect dimensions, a more hits than miss camera, an ok battery and a great display . If I could take it apart and upgrade the battery (even better if it was swappable). If someone make a phone like I just described I would buy two of them. It is a petty there is no phone like that on the market. Sony experia compact is the closest one to it better on some aspects but over all not good enough.

2018. I know this phone is dated but about 9mths ago I came across a seller who had some new ones of these for about £90...obviously old stock...but I bought one took it home. I ran all the updates that were easy to install and was so impressed with the phone I went back and bought the last one he had as a spare. Now I know many of you will wonder why I didn't go for another up to date phone but I have to tell you this is everything I need. It's small enough to fit nicely in one hand, small enough to put in a suit jacket pocket without bulging and fast enough for my needs. Having looked at the other versions of the Moto X this is still the best looking on they have released.

I bought a 1st generation Motorola Moto X a week ago (Nov 2017) and have been giving it a thorough (every day user) testing since. Prior to buying it the read reviews online were largely positive with only 1 or 2 people critical about it's performance. I feel that I'm unable to fault it and it has more than lived up to my expectations. Yes for the techgeeks among us, it doesn't have the most powerful processors, 1080p display, 15MP+ camera or the latest android OS. However for everyday use none of this really matters. For a reasonable price new (about £100 - £120 in 2017). It delivers all that your average everyday user will need + more. Battery life is very good, the screen in my opinion is excellent, the camera is very good with easy and useful functionality and 2GB of ram is plenty. The best thing in my opinion is how ergonomically designed it is. It sits very comfortably in the average size hand, especially with its smoothed edges and the 4.7" screen feels bigger than it really is covering almost all of the phone. All making 1 hand use much easier than with the 5" or 5.5" screens. I can't vouch for other phones of similar spec such as Samsung's, LG's etc. But for the price I think this one's tough to beat.

I got my 1st Gen Moto X in October 2013. Got a soft silicon gel cover for it as I work in the construction industry and phones tend to get buggered up in my line of work. 2 years later virtually to the day I upgraded to a Moto G3 which I still have. My youngest daughter has the Moto X now which will be 4 years old in 4 months. Still going strong, never misses a beat and still never lags or freezes.

better stay in kitkat, some hardware get buggy after install 5.1 (boot optimizing every boot might takes 15m which happen to some nexus and others). If you want 5.1 just install twrp and find image recovery 5.1 (this is also way out to those get boot optimizing even after hard reset and re-install 5.1). Don't ever try downgrade

I moved to an x compact from my moto x. Ergonomically I prefer the moto, but the x compact is a snappy performer with much better battery life. Camera is another world in good light but low light isn't much better than the moto. I have a carbon fibre skin on mine, think that's as close as you can get to this phone's spiritual successor.

hey umang. same here, been using it since 2013. but now my moto x is facing problems. last month its vibrator stopped working at all and now speakers have almost died. one can barely hear some sound being produced even at full volume. i have had extremely content 3 years with this mobile. It is just perfect in all senses. Now i don't want to proceed to bigger sized mobile but small screens are only available in brands like oppo vivo etc. Any suggestion ?

Using this phone since Dec 2013, and it has proven excellent in all terms. Perfect screen size and screen to body ratio. The Moto Voice features still amazes me at times. Thou, my battery suffered issues of a sudden drop, after successfully calibrating the battery, it was all good again. My headphone jack isn't working as good as new, but I guess it's fine given the time and way of use. Camera is not so good as compared to other phones in the market now and especially there is no as such thing as low - light captures in this phone. We still have an option of recording a HD video.

Jio is working fine for me on motorola moto X. Calling is possible only with Jio voice call app. go to sim settings and change the sim type to LTE/Auto. It works.

But some disadvantage I found in my fone is heatup, abrupt discharge of battery and some times a lot of apps are not working and respond app doesn't work... Overall I love this fone

I have been using Moto X for the past 2 years without any issues but lately I am experiencing network connectivity issues. There won't be network connectivity most of the times in my phone. First I thought it might be because of the network carrier, then tried using the SIM on another phone in which it worked fine. I have tried using the SIM card from the other mobile (other carrier), even then network issue is there. Sometimes the network will be fine and if you try to make calls, it will drop again. Have tried doing soft & hard resets, also tried changing the network preferences as 3G/2G instead of LTE but nothing helped. If I try to manually search for available networks, it won't show me any list of networks available. The phone is currently running Android 5.1 which was upgraded from kitkat almost an year ago and haven't been updated recently. As my device is not a developer version one, I am unable to unlock the bootloader and play around with other stuffs. I am confused whether this issue is because of hardware failure or software issue. P.S: Having this issue only for around 15 days now and the device didn't had any fall or spill on it to cause any hardware issues I believe. Suggestions/ comments are welcome.

You can upgrade the operating system if you want to. Root it and go in and turn off some of the system apps you don't need running that suck the battery up and you'd be pleasantly surprised. Mine is on all the time, day and night, and I get about 3 to 4 days before it starts getting down into the teens of battery percentage before I stick it on the charger......

Great phone for the consumers who don't want a hefty price tag, but it's a pretty rare phone now to see around here. It's quick and snappy, doesn't have anything dragging it down like TouchWiz. It can run modern apps like Pokemon Go. Oh yeah, don't upgrade to lolipop, you will kill your phone's battery twice as quick. It gets the job done and doesn't over compensate for what it has.

I got a Moto X pretty late in the game. A few new models are already out in the market place. But I like it a lot. I have the 32 gig example, have updated it from KitKat 4.4.4 to the latest Android version 6 Marshmallow, even skipped the LoliPop versions completely, rooted it and crashed it a few times to the point where I needed and got the original Motorola bootloader software to bring it back from oblivion. I have no issues with any apps, although I can disagree with the reference below to something like 574 hours of standby time, which must be "moon time" where gravity doesn't drain the batteries. It is pretty hard on power, but it isn't an issue for me because I have a charger in my BMW which plugs right into my USB port. I also use TeamViewer, currently v.11, which enables me to not only access my entire home network for where ever I might be, but also load the Mot X onto the desktop or laptop or tablet when I am at home, making the phone much easier to use in terms of screen resolution as well as access to updates and installation of apps via the laptop instead of Google's Play Store. I just go out looking for what I need on my laptop, and using the USB access, install to the phone right from the laptop. I would recommend this phone to anybody. Now a days it's pretty inexpensive, there are lots of apps available for it, and it is pretty damn reliable too. Fact is, I'm about to get another one for around ten bucks specifically for crash practice. For ten bucks, if it bursts into flames, I'd just throw it in the sink, run water on it and toss it in the garbage. Leni Kalish, Somebody

Just make sure it is the screen and not the protective screen cover. I loved my Moto X and thought I cracked my screen. Was happy to find out it was the screen protector. An ATT dealer at the kiosk said it couldn't be fixed. Took it to an ATT store and they took of the shield it's perfect once again..

It seems to be a very good midrange phone right now. I've had mine for about a year and I personally love it! It uses touchless voice activation, which is useful in certain situations. Say that you are baking and your hands are dirty, you could say "Ok Google Now..." and then the phone would light up waiting for your request. You could set a timer, make a calendar event, call or text someone, or even have it read you your notifications. The voice activation phrase can be changed too. I set mine to "Ok Friday..." Mine on Verizon currently runs android 5.1 Lollipop, so it is smooth through the menus and is great for doing normal smartphone stuff. The Speaker on the back is clear and pretty loud. The camera is very "ok quality" it's not the best, but the quality isn't bad at all. Here is a review of the phone from two years ago, most of it is still relevant. I should hope to keep my 2013 Moto X for at least another year. Hope this helped!

Question? Says 4.7" display? Mine measures 4". Apps say 4.39", and 720x1184 pix, not 720x1280? Mine is the xt1056 64gb. I know my screen is definitely not 4.7 but everything I find on web states 4.7 is the size. Thought I ordered a totally different phone at time when it arrived, but size felt very comfortable and have had no problems with phone, just not understanding why screen display isn't equalling out. Overall Good mobile i bought by 2014 jan.. Its running gud. Its auto upgraded to lollipop. All the features are gud. While reboot it checks all the application and starts after an 15 min. Sometimes by using lots of apps may stuck or hang for a while. Battery is a drawback its juz a 2200 mah battery may dry soon. Camera clarity and auto focus are much better..

I disagree, been using this phone for a year and a half and it resisted quite a few falls with no case. Compare it to my previous phone (Galaxy S2) that by that time required a new motherboard, and was having serious shorting problems with the battery contacts. Never had a problem with wi-fi either. Customer service (in Brazil) used to be poor, but now is pretty good, on par with Samsung. But i do agree about the bad battery life. Also, no water resistance: my main cam is busted from one time i caught a downpour, the phone was in my jeans' pocket. The good points about this phone: amazing ergonomics (one reason i ditched cases), near stock lollipop 5.1 and internals beefy enough to run it with little lag. Too bad it won't get Marshmallow. All in all i'm pretty happy with it.

One issue I have after the update is that when you unlock the phone or try to use the swipe down setting or dialer, after the phone has not been used for a while it's choppy and laggy for a few seconds. Even the fast twist to open the camera is the same. But after a few seconds it's back to working just fine.

I give a honest review about this phone. In terms selfie you better go for lenovo vibe shot 8mp, better than zenfone 2. You will have earphone inside lenovo. In terms main camera the only compatitor is xperia z5 family or droid turbo. zenfone2 battery and lcd not as good as lenovo.

I have been using a Moto X DeveloperEdition for the past year and its the best phone I ever had! Love the camera, the memory, its fast, voice quality, screen clarity, speaker volume and sound clarity, moto apps, and the phone size are just great. I do miss an SD card, but the memory on this is so big, I keep my photos on it for months. The 5.1 Lollipop is also a bonus. Battery life leaves something to be desired, but overall its an amazing phone!

Bro, H+ is not 4G..If u connect to 4G it will automatically show 4G not H+ or H..H+ or H are just variants of 3G networks probably 3G or 3.5G respectively.

I get myself corrected, got recent update from my friend from chennai, who uses airtel 4G, There are currently two bands in India in which 4G is launched: 1. 1800 MHz (FDD LTE) -Band 3 2. 2300 MHz (TDD LTE) - Band 40 Airtel has launched 4G in many states. Following regions have TDD LTE i.e 2300 band: Mumbai, Kolkata , Bangalore, Maharashtra, Punjab, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Orissa, Haryana, Delhi etc. Following regions have FDD i.e 1800 MHz band: Chennai, NCR So, you can check your mobile specifications and decide if your mobile wil support 4G, given the region. Hello Aamir, i know exactly what you are facing... This happened with me too, i got the over the air update for 4.4.4 and my sim locked aswell. What you need to do is get your phone flashed to 4.4.2 the stock from the market and then when its done, connect to wifi and search for updates it will give you OTA update for 4.4.4 update and then let it install. Once you have done this do not search for updates again. The initial update for 4.4.4 is stable.

I have been using the Moto X (1st Gen 2013). I'm a very heavy user & this phone has not let me down, Ever. Its a very handy device just like iPhone 5 or 5S. Though the screen is 4.7in it feels very compact & handy. The UI is almost stock, I'm on 5.1 as of now & its Super smooth. It never lags where as my other LG G2 (5.0 Lollipop) often hangs bcoz of heavy animations & all. I love my Moto X.

Awesome mobile phone this is.......A 2013 model is still powerful to match with 2015 mobiles......Even Samsung Galaxy S5 got 5.0.2 while moto x got 5.1 After iPhone i like only Motorola mobiles because of the built quality and feathers. Resistance to dust and water, scratch resistance also. Handy design (manage small size phone even with 4.7 inch screen) Software update are quick like iPhones and Nexus devices.... Assalam-0-Alaikum. Got 5.1 Lollipop update in my At&t Moto X 1st Gen Xt-1058 yesterday in Pakistan. I would like to share my experience with you guys. Overall nice improvements as mentioned on Motorola website. However, the device feels a little bit slow may be due to long animations and effects put into UI. After updating, it took too much time saying "Optimizing Apps X out of 173" may be because I had many apps installed. On first bootup, I saw too much LAG during every operation even switching apps was hell. Then I did a factory reset and erased all SD data. That solved the problem completely. Now my phone works flawlessly smooth with no Lag or whatsoever. I also noticed slightly better performance while scrolling in browser or in other apps. Moreover, the battery seems to have improved a little say by 30 minutes more backup. The bad thing I noticed is that Active Notification is not working as before. The phone does not lit up upon hovering over it to show notifications like I was doing before. Now you have to pick it up to see notifications/clock etc. Hope they fix it soon. Bootup animation is also something which I don't like. It's weird. Huh because I have At&t version. As compared to Kitkat 4.4.4, the UI is a bit slow but not laggy. Notification bar is awesome. Moto Voice(touchless control) is better. Things that Motorola should seriously improve are: - Active display - Notifications - Camera App - UI and exposure/focus problems etc

After Lollipop update.Its running same for me. Rather the phone is working better as per the UI and feels of usage. And as per battery though its consuming more.Still its working fine for nearly 20h straight with stand by and mixed usage.I dont know why u people are complaining much for battery.My data connection remains on (3g) for all time. I think,it took a year time but it adhered to its promise.

Guys update it do a factory reset and cache partition rest all is fine.yes the battery is slow charging very slow so try getting better output charger for ur moto x and for battery drainage issue replace ur old battery it will surely help.better charger and new battery surely should help. Lollipop on moto x first gen it seems is better than on second gen moto x

I have 5.1 now for more then a week. Don't do it. The keybord is worse, it takes longer to charge the battery. The wave your hand over the phone hand gesture to turn on the display no longer works, The icon to turn on the speaker and hang up the phone is much smaller. The letters for the phonebook are smaller. The voice commands don't always react anymore, the whole experience does not feel like an improvement but a step back. Right now I wish I could go back to KitKat. The one positive is that the battery last longer. I did not get the chopping feature that is supposed to turn on a flash light and there is so much more negatives to list I just can't remember them all.

Finally the day has come. My Moto x got Android 5.1. It takes nearly 1 hour to install. Upto now no big issue as such. It's like using a new phone altogether. Lollypop is as smooth as KitKat. Only one problem I faced that during updating my apps it got hanged 2 times. In my memory it never happened before with KitKat. On the whole UI is great, new things like notifications, Moto voice, material design are worth for waiting. So many new and beautiful things now my Moto has got. Anyhow I am not quite hopeful to get Android M so overall it must be the final update for this old horse. Now I noticed that voice commands are working batter but it is some what slow in typing. Upto now I have spend only few hours with it so after using it for few days I will try to give more update.

I had Lollipop installed for several days now. It first was really laggy until several more additional updates took place and several restarts. Now it works just as good as before with definitely improved battery life, especially with WiFi and LTE turned on.

I agree with everyone who is saying that Moto X is a great phone. However, esp. in India, why is the charging cable and the ear phone quality so horrible? Charging users a 24K + price, its unfair to receive a phone cable that needs to be really pushed hard to get plugged. Instead, Samsung accessories are much better in quality. Having no card slot is a pain. I was not given the option for the 32gb model or the 64. After installing the few apps I needed and porting my music over, the phone was too full to update the apps that it came with (ie.the ones I can't get rid of and don't want) also the integrated battery will become problematic eventually, and with previous phones, I could just go buy a new battery, I guess that's impossible now. What a pain in the petunias.

My moto x (2013) seems to have run into problems after 7 months of usage.The screen does not automatically turn off. Even if I leave the phone for 1 hour, the phone screen glows continuously. Maybe your carrier's 3G band is not supported by the phone? That's why it is limited to 2g? Check specs to be sure.

It feels bulky due to its thickness and bezels. Size ratio isn't optimized. Contacts aren't stored on phone but on your gmail account so beware when deleting/cleaning them.. Photo/video quality is okay. It's not totally bloatware free experience as some are mentioning since you got all nagging Motorola apps popping up from times to times. Battery is really really average and draining quite fast. No notification led : breathing notifications are buggy/not optimized. Audio speaker is quite loud. Vibrations are not customizable and feel very cheap (you will see when turning on the phone). It's a 16gb device so with 10-12 only usable with no other expandable solution so be sure it will fit your needs.

Well after a week of using 5.1 on my Moto X 2013 i can say battery has improve with 6 hours standby time. Call quality is also better as well as overall speed. I am still getting use to the way Lollipop work compare to Kit Kat. Moto Voice is also a lot more responsive. Charging time has also shorten with about 15 min. The Camera is better but not in low light. I am not a game person so sorry a cant give info there. One more thing you must do is please remember to factory reset your phone after Lollipop as it is a big update. U.S will get the update in a few days and EU to follow soon according to Google.All i can say is i find the Upgrade to be worth the wait. Cheers

You can change the Ok google now to anything you want. Active display more features in lockscreen. Just miss the wifi toggle widget. Display is much more sharper than before had to turn brightness way down.

It's a good device. I have been using it for a month. No issues at all. Camera is good. Battery Life is average. It gives me 4 hrs of screen on time with 4G/WiFi and around 50 hrs of standby time. Takes 2 hrs to charge upto 100%. Further, I have played a plenty of games like NFS most wanted, asphalt 8, and riptide 2. All run smooth with no lag or whatsoever. Antutu benchmark gives 27,000 score which is way better than Moto G and Nexus 4. I am very exited for lollipop update. Hope it would bring some software and UI improvements to Camera App.

Well, the 1st gen X is a lot smaller than the G (arguably smaller than anything with a 4.7" screen) and has a decent screen, is thinner, lighter, has better camera and faster CPU (unless you're a benchmark junky), much better graphics and twice the ram. The only bad thing is they don't make new models like this anymore, really a shame, but if I'd have to buy an android phone right now, this would be my choice.

For camera problem, For indoor- increase brightness to 100%. Then on the flash, then set HDR to auto or on For outdoor- increase brightness to 100%. Off the flash.. I think this will somewhat solve ur problem..

Dear Friends, I have been using this moto X 1st Gen mobile since August 2014. This review is purely based on my experience with this device. Build Quality: Feels premium, compact for a 4.7 inch screen, not so heavy, has nice grip in hands. There were some nick and scratches on the outer rim and back panel because I dropped it about three or four times from an average height of 2 foot on a concrete floor that doesn't has a smooth fininsh. nothing happened to the screen/display so far. Battery: I make around a hundred calls totaling 2 hrs of talk time, 3G ON all the time, 1hr of music playback at bed time, around 30 mins of flashlight on almost everyday, it lasts for the whole day. Touchless control: Best feature but doesn't work correct almost 98 percent of the time. Gets activated even when you don't say the closest of the words to 'Okay Google Now'. It irritates by frequently turning ON even when you conversate with someone, in a classroom, when you list to a TV NEWS channel, etc...Damn good feature that doesn't works properly. Camera Quality: With many recent updates in the software, the output of the camera is very appreciative. I used to take a lot of photos of worn out or damaged spare parts (automobile components) to show them to vehicle owners for getting service approval through whatsapp. The clarity of the pictures in HDR mode and Flashlight are good. Speed of the phone: Pretty fast. I have not noticed any significant lags in the transition of menus or apps. I am not a mobile phone gamer. For an everyday usage, the phone is fast enough. I like my moto x ,good performance ,things that I don't like about its the shape I don't think its very practical due to the back curve shape feels like your losing your grip of the phone and when you place it over a flat surface rocks up, down, side to side motion making hard to pressed the keys or navigate, plus the apps from android like voice mail etc not the bestand I would still like to see my banner, or badge number on my notifications then believe me would be the perfect phone ,would never get rid of but until then have my doubts thank you hope something gets done.

#MotorolaCheats Motorola Customer Service Centre Refused to repair within warranty period I had bought MotoX 1st Gen mobile phone 3 months back. It suddenly stopped displaying anything on my screen. It is to note that I had not dropped it. In other words, there is no physical damage. You can also verify the same in attached actual image of my mobile. I visited Motorola customer service centre. As expected(In case of any problem they will change either motherboard or display), they said its display has problem and it will cost me Rs.12500. Over that they will not give me any written proof about mobile diagnosis saying that Motorola said so. The other guy asks for some sort of certificate from service centre about the problem. You have to understand that the cpu is too old/weak for that, it's not that "engineers are limiting you on software side". A powerful cpu is needed for compressing in real time 4K videos since it's hardware encoding (function present on only recent Qualcomm cpus) and also fast memory is needed to sustain those high bitrates recordings.

Well I know most probably they won't let you do 4K even if it could, simply because it's an older model and they want you to but the latest, but maybe using apps like lcamera would hack on the new lollipop capabilities. After all raw shooting and full frame 30fps is not very different from actual 4K video.

The minimal cpu allowing 4K is SD800. So no update will make this available on Moto X. If you don't own any SD800+ phone then you don't know how much they are overheating when shooting in 4K after 2mins (i have several phones able to shoot in 4K not just a MotoX).

Motorola has confirmed thatboth X versions will have the 5.0 update, so it's just a matter of time. The more tricky question is whether the original X will allow other goodies like 4K shooting or continuous 8MP snapping with the lollipop update. The sensor is obviously enough because it's 10MP native 16:9 ratio but the hardware/lazy programmers might hold it back. If someone can try the Lcamera app on a rooted motoX with 5.0 and see what it can do it would be great.

@ Suraj - Not a big issue. just remember not to use a charger having output more than 1 Amp (i.e- some samsung phones use 1.5 A charger while motorola uses 550 mA to 850mA output. @ Strauss - clean cache and check if it happens at some special times. For example restart your phone and check the same if it doesn't happens, then use camera for a few mins and then again check if there is some prob. If not then use some other app about which you are a bit skeptical and check again. If problem is permanently there then only a master reset will solve your problem but you will lose your data then.

In mx player aspect ratio is automatically set, and sometimes it shows a very crappy image quality so try zooming out whenever you play it on mx player by that "two fingers pinching together closer" gesture. It will solve your problem.

i too believe ZR has no issues and in fact acmera of ZR is way better but the voice commands on moto x are far ahead as compared to ZR and it has an amazing processor so even though i know that there are lines on camera and picture quality is not comparable to ZR, I'll still stick to moto x due to amazingly smart processor which already knows when I am driving and is constantly listening to my voice. And also moto x is smallest has very very small dimensions as compared to its screen size so definitely my choice will be moto x.

Switch your system to Art and not Dalvic in Dev options. First batt will last 4 days , phone will never get hot , believe me i have done it and Art is so much smoother. Apps will take about 10 min to convert so make sure before switching you have at least 50 percent batt power. Thanks

bro you are comparing two very different devices. i phone 6 is one of the fastest devices out there. Moto x is just fast. voice commands are however more advanced on moto x and active display on moto x is amazing. gesture control for opening camera is also good. and best part is the dimensions of the phone which are amazingly nice. fits into palm perfectly. But this comparison doesn't makes a lot of sense as screen quality of i phone 6 and fluency are way better in iphone. I've one question for you- From where are you looking to buy this phone because I too wanna buy it but it has been permanently discontinued. I hated motorola when they did this. I loved this phone. I already had one and i gave it to my bro and now i still want another but cant find it anywhere.

I love my Moto x. Its a great device. Its smooth, fast and handles good amount of load specially while using multiple apps. However, I have an issue while using 3G/Wifi sometimes. The phone gets heated up very soon (within 10-15 mins). I have a battery app (DU battery) which once recorded the temperature as 46.6 degree Celsius which is a lot! So I guess the temperature on the surface of the device (that is backside) would have been around 44 degrees. I don't know whether this issue is device specific. Anyone facing such issue? if so, what did you do to rectify it?

This is absolutely awesome phone.. But default memory(16 GB) is not enough to store more games and videos. It have only available of 11.88 GB for user. Moto x have 2GB ram , so it supports high end graphics games. Game file sizes are nearly 1.5 to 2GB. So you can't install more games(5 Games) at a time in a phone. Other than this games you have apps , pictures , videos and etc.... So this default memory is not quite enough. I always backup my pictures and videos in google drive or my computer to clear some spaces in mobile. So new user plz keep this in your mind.

1)those lines are not a major issue. these lines are visible sometimes only in low light. 2)For battery drain you can do a no. of things like - turning off voice commands due to which phone is listening to your voice even in sleep mode. In fact you can have much better battery backup by following these steps - a) charge your phone always when its left with 10% battery or less. and then charge it straight upto 90% at least or full charge. Dont use it during charging. b) use some app to have an idea of battery depletion like i am using battery doctor. This app helps in getting an idea of battery depletion by telling the usage time left for a particular percentage of battery. for eg- when bought new it showed me 27 hours of usage on full charge but now after 4 months of usage it shows me 23-24 hours of usage time left with a full charge. (however its not exact but still i got an idea that battery is depleting with time and at what rate it is depleting) c)Turn off voice commands whenever you are not likely to use them. d) you can always turn off data usage and can check your wats app msgs and mails in regular intervals. This helps in improving battery life in best possible manner. 3) heating up during gaming and charging is normal. 4) Voice cracking problem - cant say, check if signal strength is good and try to use phone in different places and check if same problem persists in other areas of city as well. If not then it means there is some signal receiving problem in your area, even though it shows full signal.

bro every time when you connect you just go to - setting- storage- then on TOP right corner you will find a button that gives access to mass storage. you can check or uncheck it to get your phone detected or unplug it from PC. if its not working then you need to install driver which is available at motorola.in

when i bought it, connected to desktop/laptop (no device drivers installed) there was the detection on desktop/laptop and phone also notifies about usb connection and kept charging. Now the problem is.. when i connect to desktop/laptop(to which my phone is previously connected) its not getting detected as well as phone is not charging and notifying about the usb connection. But when the cable is still connected,i switch off the phone as a result the phone reboots and this time the device gets detected by the system and it notifies about usb connection and kept charging... so everytime when connected to desktop/laptop im rebooting my phone to get detected and to charge as well

Bro to be straight I will say out of 16 GB you will hardly get 13GB . Games and songs is not an issue but if you keep videos then it might fill up too quick but there is a benifit on that as well - No memory card slot ensures that your device has already allocated some space for all your files which means whenever you try to access your data it easily reaches there within no time. In simple words performance improves a lot. And you'll notice that with time phone is not at al slowing down unlike other devices out there with memory card. But if you have a lot of data then I'll recommend to use a OTG pendrive which is available at normal pen drive price. This type of pen drives have a usb port so as to be connected with a PC and on the other side these have a OTG USB point which connects it to your phone. So It is a very handy gadget available at Rs500 or so for 16 gig. Also it makes your work far more easy like - sharing, copying and pasting. Its quite helpful and practical too. eg- say you are out of home and you forgot to download some sort of imp form or paper. Then just download any form or some paper on your phone any time, at the same time plug in a pendrive to your phone and take it out to have a print out. As easy as that.

to improve battery backup - first of all install some battery saver app like - battery doctor. It wont improve battery but ya at least it gives an idea at what rate your battery is depleting with time. Also it saves your phone from getting overcharged. A very important thing is that - you must charge your phone only when its battery is left less than 15% and straight upto 90% or full and also avoid using phone during this charging time. Lastly and most important if you really feel that battery is not performing well then turn of vice commands which eat a big chunk of battery because of all time listening. Instead of keeping it On all the time just keep it on while you are at places where you are going to use that app. Bcoz it only works in less noisy areas so while you are out to market or some place out of home turn it off. It will surely give you a day of battery life easily. and if you want more then everyone knows internet is the main cause of battery drainage so you can also do this - check your wats app after regular intervals of time and after checking your mails and msgs on net turn data off again and this definitely improves battery drastically. I faced same problem before but as I started doing these things I am now getting 1 day easily and sometimes (with less use) 1 and a half day. updates will be available with in or before first week of dec.

charger is not included in moto x as it is a reason of its cheap price these days. its charger is quite costly so its the main reason of price cut. screen guard that comes with phone is of no use and needs to be pulled out the same time you start using it but if it wasn't there then there is a possible chance that it has been opened before but no worries. Flipkart has a nice service and your work is to inform them as soon as possible so that later on if something wrong happens to phone (fingers crossed) you still be having a proof in the form of an e mail that you told them already in mail while you bought it, and you were already having doubts because of its tempered screen guard. tell them this tomorrow in a mail and ask them if it is fine. obviously they will say its not a big deal but the thing is u'll be having a written proof to show them in future.

i love this device i just want to know if some1 faced issue as i did- i ordered from flipkart without charger- i could find that the seal was cut open and the device had some marks on its screen which cleared off when i wiped it the device did not have any company fitted screen gaurd on it. was i cheated with a used phone or is it normal. and also who removes the charger form the boxes ??

bro company doesn't recommends to clean cache on your own in settings menu. I know it sounds strange but as there is some other procedure to do the same in a better way however you could have installed clean master or some other app for cleaning cache then for sure you did not have to face this problem for sure.

Certainly with all it's features, Moto X is reasonably good at this range and that's the reason I bought it. But after using it for a week, I tried to clear the cache to free some space as there is no slot to insert memory card. The gallery didn't open after clearing cache and I had to restart the mobile everytime after I clear cache to open gallery. I did reset my phone to check if could work fine and the peroblem didn't resolve. I got a replacement handset, with the same problem and hence I returned my phone. Worst is technical persons were not able to provide reasons for the fault. Then I came to know that all Moto X mobiles has that problem

you have to search for it, all I know is that it will cost you around 1500 Rs. One of the reasons why it is right now available at this 18k price. The output of original charger is 1100mA. It has two Usb ports with 550mA output each.

5v 1A charger is acceptable. However its original charger is a very costly and charges quite fast but i am sorry bro that even after this long time i did not get to know the actual output of basic charger. But 5V 1A is not giving any problem. But if i get to kno i'll definitely post here.

I was facing the problem of charging on my moto g and x (1st gen.). Stock motorola charger output is just 0.55A or 550mA so it take around 4/5 to charge 100%. Anyway i talked with Motorola usa and 1.5 A is suitable for moto g and x 2013 addition.

most of the chargers are of 5V in India so instead of that check for output in ampere which is - either 550mA or 1A I think 1A should do its work good but not sure. and normal heating up is ok. It cant be considered as overheating because most og the phones heat up during charging. Anyways I've asked this question from flipkart they said they will reply this query in a few days. I'll post their reply as soon as I get the answer.

cont... (its my 3rd reply to ur question so first read the older ones) now ZR only beats moto x in camera quality. I am a amateur photographer and I do have a good knowledge of cameras So i must already tell you that ZR's camera is quite better than moto x. However I dont prefer camera phone on phones much but still in indoor pics ZR's camera proves its better quality. In day time photographs there's is not much of a difference. Regarding software- You may like the interface of ZR but stock UI of moto x is very snappy and smooth. It is simlar to necus devices which are considered factory devices of google's android. So it means no heavy or laggy make up on user interface will keep it up with greater speeds most of the times. But I recommended ZR because of its built quality which says you can use the camera underwater. Its something that we dont use or consider to use but yeah for sure waterproof features comes in handy. And this feature makes you feel like a bit more confident regarding water splashes and drops. We talked about updates (age), camera, built qulity (ZR is waterproof but moto x is very pleasing to hold with one hand, I said it almost 10th time i think... he he. sorry.for that.) Anything else you wanna know you can ask.

In fact most of the present users dont like 2nd gen because size of end gen moto x is not very pleasing but this device is once of the best to be held and operated by one hand. You will see apple i phone 5s has almost same dimensions but apple could pack only a 4 inch screen on its device where as here it is near to 5 inch in same dimensions. So the design of the product is something that is going to keep it alive for a long time. So at 18k if you are getting a latest gadget which may discontinue but still its one of the latest. According to me its a very good deal.

See i know what and how you are thinking right now. Instead of just recommending you any phone I'll just give you an idea of how to compare these devices and I'll try my best to make everything clear you asked about. lets start with - Age of the device- You are afraid moto x is a very old device and may discontinue soon. See age of a phone totally depends on the android updates. Older the android version older is the phone. With time and with all the apps on your phone are updated according to latest OS, these apps start lagging on devices having older versions. A big problem. Which means you need to have a device that is running on latest software. Moto X is one of the devices which is going to have all the latest updates that too very early (as compared to Sony and samsung). Sony also has listed some of the devices which will get the latest android 5.0 lollipop update but it will be around january or feb next year. Only high end smartphones ranging above 30k are expected to get updates early. About samsung i am not even sure if any update will be provided to any of the phones below 20k, because samsung is only focused towards its high end market but if you are comparing any of the devices this is the first thing to be noted that will it get updates or not... Because it is directly related to the age of the phone and its reputation in market. All the kitkat phones will become older in 2015 so there's no reason for buying a phone now which will not get an update. (Point to remember is that with every update google is trying to improve the performance, speed and battery life of its devices, So updates are obviously keeping the device alive in competition) All i mean to say is that - there's no point in buying a phone which is still in production but running an older version of android instead of that even if moto x is discontinued for sure it'll not show its age until the next update. Means you are still having the latest gadget in your pocket which supports every software the way it is intended to. Xperia ZR which is giving this phone a tough competition is also listed in the list of phones which will get updates but this phone will get updates on say jan- feb 2015. however moto x will get its update before dec this year. which means you'll get to use the latest OS for longer period of time. (as next android version will be launched on october 2015) So you dont need to worry about the age of moto x before october 2015. I am not sure after that it will get any update or not. Still there are chances as motorola is quite good in keeping their phones running on latest OS.

Bro Honestly speaking lines are there in camera mode but just when it tries to adjust light which enter the sensor. It means only inside room where there is no natural light you may find lines but its not at all a big deal. Outside and in full light you are never going to see those lines. Even inside these lines are there for the time while there is movement as soon as you focus they dissapear. NO BIG DEAL. And about battery - obviously it has some smartest features that you may never see even in latest and upcoming handsets over a few years such as active display and all time voice recognition system, So these features will definitely consume some battery but in normal usage it can sweep the whole day. I am able to do it however whenever I play some heavy games like asphalt 8 and dead trigger it falls short but it depends on you... If you are only a hard gamer and you are not going to use those smart features and also you want a better camera then look for xperia ZR. But if you you totally want an exceptional experience and also you want something far from common then you can blindly buy this phone and believe me you'll love to keep it with you always. It fits in hand so well that you can barely keep it off your hand. And now i am using this phone Its quite hard for me to fall in love with some other phone ever because I just love the dimensions it has been packed in which fit in my hand so perfectly that I dont think any other cell is even closer to this.

Bro this phone is much more advanced than that. Instead of normal led indicator it shows all notifications on screen as you just pick the phone. Yeah that's right you dont need to unlock the device. And you can unlock if you think that the msg is important but if not so then put it back in pocket. In short you'll get in toch with notifications and check time anytime without unlocking the device. This is called active display and takes no battery because it shows it in a a black and white screen and lights up only the minimum required pixels to do the same.

flipkart is one of the biggest online retailers and that is why its safer to buy from them and obviously its better than hTc 816. i've seen some very rare cases in which moto E of my frnd was found defected but no probs at all they replaced it after confirming that the piece is defected and even if one is not satisfied he/she can send it back with one month if there is some genuine reason.

Bro if you already like the look of m2 then I'll not stop you but m2 is only comparable to moto g and even against moto g it loses way behind in screen quality. pixel density (measured in ppi that you can find in display section of specifications of any phone). More the ppi better is screen to look at. M2 is good in every aspect except for ppi which is 229, way too less than moto g which is having 294. Moto x doesn't falls in the category of moto g and m2. Its better than both of them in every aspect. It has touchless controls which work absolutely fine even with Indian accent (I use it a lot) and active display which shows time and notifications to you every time you jst touch the device or bring it out of ur pocket. Camera is something which usually sony offers better than motorola but frankly speaking difference is barely noticeable. On account of a very very slight camera quality difference you get a smoother product with very handy size and minimum bezels around screen and truly smart features and garunteed updates. I think moto x is the best buy and specially in India these days the price is mouth watering. You can not expect this phone to be cheaper than this.

I dont feel that you'll get much difference in camera but ya there will be some differnce. So dont expect too much and if you are only shifting because of camera then I dont think you should do so. But there are some other things that you may like eg.- most advanced voice control, active display, and size of the phone is obviously best for one hand with minimum plastic bezels and large screen.

Yes, those lines appear on screen in indoor lighting when you focus on a bright object. Seems to be a software glitch. Should be corrected in the next update i guess.

Unfortunetly i have noticed the same lines over the screen but just in some conditions (indoor artificial lighting - neons), but not all the time. Outdoors it`s fine and it does some really nice photos in my opinion.

The US Moto X won't work with 4G LTE in the UK (they use different frequencies). However it is compatible with all 3G networks, and has HSDPA+ speeds of up to 42 Mbps so the difference shouldn't be too noticeable (depending on where you are/your network etc). I'm planning on buying a US version to use in the UK, so hope I'm right!

No, after use the phone for three weeks I like it more than my galaxy S4, user experience is awesome. Spec don't mean much once you use the phone I think you will love it.

Hi Krish, in answer to your question, the Moto X is much faster than the Moto G. Although it only has the 1.7GHz Dual Core Krait, it also has a further 6 cores (the Motorola X8 chipset). So it is more powerful and more versatile than the Moto G. You definitely don't need to worry about it being too slow! However it might be worth considering that the Moto X doesn't have a micro sd card slot for expandable storage (the newest Moto G versions do), and the battery life on the Moto G is probably better. But if those factors aren't that important, definitely go for the Moto X, it's a beautiful phone

I am using the z1 compact now after ditching my htc m8. I love the size of the compact and the battery and processing speed seems fine even after using the more powerful m8. I think the moto x would be a lil better than the z1compact as the screen is a bit bigger but the body is quite small and compact.
