Motorola V191 - User Reviews

  • Yeah i like the phone's durability that's for sure. It survived a month in 4 feet of snow and the melt completely unscathed but can't recieve text messages and it's only good for calls. It kinda stinks technology wise.

  • I bought this for $100 in J&Rs NYC spring/2009, because it was the only quadband in stock. It is the most utterly basic phone, which is what I wanted. Unfortunately, the brain-dead idiots who made it cannot cleanly implement even the utterly basic spec that it has. It stinks. The motorola phone that I bought in 1996 had a better operator interface. What is difficult about call, hangup, number-find etc.? Anyway time to embrace complexity and buy an android.

  • I lost my manual and was able top download another copy in PDF format from the Motorola website. Just google: Manual V195 Motorola and you can find it.

  • It should have Bluetooth, where do I find it in the menu?? I also cannot find possibility of SMS delivery receipts, can you give me some advice? tHanx

  • My father has that phone. He has used IT since 06 and it supported these few accidents: Being dropped from his pocket Stayed in the car at 12:00 am in Summer!!! (i am in Central America so the weather is hot) Dropped from the stairs IT IS A SUPER PHONE!!! and it supports very nice Java Games And he says: A phone its only to call and recieve calls! DO NOT depend on technology

  • Este celular possui: - conector de fone de ouvido do tipo P1 (2.5"); [ P1 (2.5") headset jack] - sistema P2K, permitindo assim alteraes por programas como o P2K Tools; [support programs like P2k Tools, so you can change many things on phone] -suporte a todas as operadoras GSM por ser Quad Band, entretanto, tem erros ao usar a rede 850MHz em algumas verses do formware! [some users had been face off issue on the 850MHz band, so, I can't garantee the phone will work on all bads correctly]

  • does anyone know if this handset can work in Miami,NY and st.Vincent and if its Quad band???

  • I have a v191 and bought it in Phoenix, the manual is in Spanish. Does anyone know where I can get a manual in English?

  • I read somewhere that u need to use motorola phone tools v4.2.1

  • this phone is very good for day to day use.very strong my phone many times and still working.

  • I have had this phone since it came out in 2006. It is the best basic phone you can ask for. one charge last a week, so i need to charge it only on the weekends. SMS is easy and call quality is very good. small and light and fits easy in your pocket. The best thing is the price as it is dirt cheap.

  • Has ANYONE successfully used SMS messaging with the V191? The manual describes how to do it, but on my phone, the menu option is not available. I have seen other reviews complain about text messaging not working. But, does it ever work? Does anyone have a V191 with working text messaging? I love the phone, but text messaging would be very useful. Thanks.

  • it had been almost a year since i got the phone i like it in all feature it is nice and easy to hold but i shifted my message that i got by sms to hot message and couldn't open it after that what shall i do since i couldn't get the manual

  • Anyone have a clue on how to change character sets? I bought one in Taiwan,, and they changed the character set to English, but when I try to add keystrokes, it uses chinese.

  • this phone is cute but i wonder if it is functional.i probally would not buy it as my boy friend x fav color is baby blue. maybe if it came in dirty, devil red.

  • r these fones small does it look ugly wihout a antennae

  • I just got this phone from a friend today, and I tried to get a ringtone, but there is no support for this model. Does anyone know how I could possibly still get music for ringtones on my phone? Please feel free to email me at [email protected] (Amanda) Thank you, any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • y my phone cannot be hooked up to the internet? i need it to be hooked up to the net....please explain y

  • This product sucks! I didnt cause any physical harm to the phone and the screens blew up! it just looks like tie die! I have no idea how to get them to replace the phone because no matter what i say they are goin to blame it on me!! the outter plastic is all intact with no cracks or anything, the dammage is all on the inside! if anyone knows what might have happened please inform me. thanks. and i appologize for all the "!"...clearly i am p.o'ed by this.

  • I know the phone has an Mp3 player but can you apply the mp3 as ringtone or does my phone have a problem. Yeah and the battery life is great. I'll like to have a reply as soon as possible. Thanks

  • I think is a winner. I love this phone... i bought it for less than US$65. and i got a lot of nice things. The design is just perfect... WAP, MMS, MP3, vids... everithing works just fine. And the blue light... cool!.

  • i have the motorola mobile phone tools v2.1.3 and it doesnt detect my v191! whats wrong?

  • This is a great phone. Basic but performs excellent in all the areas a PHONE should. Battery life is incredible. The door creeks when opened and closed. That is it's mechanism for knowing when the door is open or closed. I doubt that would be a problem for anyone other than a secret agent.

  • i dont know. but try searching "send files mms to phone from pc" in google. i found a site that sends mms data from the pc to your phone (cant remember the name) but it is only for US phones.

  • does anyone know of a site where i can actually download music tones or wallpaper onto my motorola v191

  • not realy an opinion but i own this phone and it started off with a total space of 10670kb, after about 3 weeks it increased to 10930kb for it self! i got 260kb just like that. not only this phone but my v551 had only 4.5mb and now it has 6.5mb!

  • I like this phone better than other Motorolas (but I still miss my old Nokia...). I agree with whoever said that the battery life was amazing. One problem - I can't figure out how to get a custom made wallpaper into this phone. I found a website (www.moviso.com) but they don't support the V191. Can anyone help?

  • well, i'm from Chile and I think the same of all of you, this cellphone is great, excellent for me, the bateriy's life is so long, but i can't send info from pc to my cellphone, and. really like that, 'Cause is a good machine. well, thanks to Motorola for create it. Sorry for my english, but I learning this language.

  • I have three phone: Nokia 6111, Nokia 6060 and this one. The battery life is, without a doubt, the best i've ever seen in a phone. My Nokias are ashamed. The battery refuses to die. Nokia 6060 should be the real oponent here, right? Nokia 6111, being ping, having blueetooth, 1mp camera is no big deal... this motorola is my baby, what can I say? I love this phone. I used to hate motorola, but now... my hands are tied. Bravo Moto!

  • well this is the best phone i have ever got so far.i really like its cristal clear sounds.so cool. but i wander how i can load extra musics or pics. using its usb port ,do i need a pc suite?

  • This phone is one of the best phones i have ever had...however the memory i think could have been more. Good size and easy to carry around.

  • Well This one is one of the best Phones-to-talk, Motorola has ever launched. Its perfectly priced-to-perfromance product and i would highly recommend people to go for this particular model if they want nothing but just a good good phone at the most affordable price.(Not to comment on the excellent battery life....)

  • Can someone please send me some information on where i can get the software from the internet because they don't sell the software where i live. I would really appreciate it alot thank you. [email protected] or [email protected]

  • Igor, I didn't upload any java yet, but friends of mine did and they told me you can do it with P2KTools or Moto MidManager. What did you do to use the V220 driver? Anyway, use Motorola Phone Tools 4.04+ to use the proper driver! And to the last anonymous poster, I don't understand the problem exactly. Is the problem the usage of iTap (predictive)? Did you read the manual about text messaging?

  • hi - i can't figure out how to text message (in English) - multiple letters keep showing up...

  • I got one and Im very happy with it. I agree, it doesnt have the expensive stuff but its cool. Can anyone tell me how can I upload java software (games)? I am using Mobile Phone tools with the V220 driver, but it doesnt have a file manager. Can I do this? Thanks.

  • Motorola V191 works with mobile phone tools.latest version in it has a search engine, it is in spanish though. You need Mobile Phone Tools V.4.04 which you can download from there.

  • Sorry can someone please email me how to connect the v191 to the pc.Tried mobile phone tools 3 but doesnt support it. Is there a driver? Or a freeware program. Thanks!!

  • Other than 850mhz roaming band and the blue color, this is the same exact phone that T-Mobile USA carries. A worthwhile Motorola without all the BS.

  • I had this phone for nearly 4 months, and I'm really happy about it. Of course it doesn't have all those expensive features, but I don't need them... It's a beautiful phone, but the leather pouch is not nice, although it protects it very well. The battery lasts nearly a week with average use. You always find things to enhance the phone, but I don't regret buying it at all.

  • Anyone knows how does Motorola disabled the USB connection?

  • HI! I just want to ask when will this be available in Philippines? I am pretty sure this would cost lesser amount of pesos...I want a phone that is more lesser in price because I don't have much money, However, I need a phone in my school and in my application process. To guys out there who knew where to find this phone please please help me. This sounds so great as what I read on its user's opinion. Thank you very much!-Ian

  • --Wash says: very good, but it doesnt work with Motorola Phone Tools. It has some driver isues. Ive managed to make it work with "Mobile Master" but it doesnt fully support motorola phones. -- Hey Wash!!, V191 works with Motorola Mobile Phone Tools, just update your software to the last version... keep updating so no more actualization are needed and then the soft will find your phone. V191 works for me...

  • how is the USB port of this mobile?

  • very good, but it doesnt work with Motorola Phone Tools. It has some driver isues. Ive managed to make it work with "Mobile Master" but it doesnt fully support motorola phones.

  • pleasee tell me can i upload games from my computer of just pictures, ringtones and videos?

  • A really great phone!, if a want a picture, I have a camera, and if a want music i have an ipod, a phone is just that, and this is a great one.

  • Big and simple phone, great

  • hope motorola would do something about their phone menu's. it's rather bit confusing. SE already changed theirs when sony and ericsson teamed up.

  • really good calm shell phone i like the simple phone like this by the reat companys coz i like the phone simple like that

  • It's just a cellphone... not a Super-Digital-Cam-Microwave-Laundry Machine-Washdisher-Salad Maker-f*****kin phone. It has Quad-Band! Motorola had make this phone to people who want talk and nothing else. L.o.C. to Motorola! Good Job! I'm enjoying every moment with my v191.

  • ya 1st! this phone sucks what motorola have in their minds??? Nokia, SE, and Samsung are doing their job but what about motorola releasing those simple phones?
