This phone isn't the best but can get the job done for texting and calling. The camera is terrible though, with no front facing camera or flash at all. The battery life will last the day if you use the phone for texting and calling only. Not lots of space is included with the phone. The price is very low so this is a good phone if you want to pay a little bit of money.

I've been using this the last three years. For phone calls and light texting, it's fine. The keyboard is small, if you have large or callused fingers you're going to need a stylus. For browsing, it's very slow. 2GB of RAM crawls along with Facebook, forget about loading any videos. The photos and video camera works fine, not fantastic, but good enuf. Cheap phone, does the job. If you want to do a lot of browsing better get something with more RAM

used this phone for a couple years. It is a low cost phone that is good for texting and talking and maybe using wifi once in a while. If you want a phone to use a lot of data on then get a data package and your carrier will set up with the phone of the month on a data plan and a Contract if your not into that then. a newer version of this phone will do. I say a newer version because this phone was low end when introduced. At this point in time you can get a S2, a HTC amaze or iphone 4 for the same price and any of these phones will do more than Just txt and talk.

I bought this phone in 2012 for $100 and it came with a free sim card ($20) as well as $10 airtime to get you started. It was my first Android phone, and is a decent basic phone. The screen is very low-res with horrid colours as its only 256K colours versus 16M for most smartphones. The battery is crap. The adreno 200 and 800mhz cortex A5 are very weak, so gaming won't work unless playing low quality games. All in all, its a good first phone to give a kid or an older person who doesn't need bells and whistles. But its truly a brick.

I have had it for over and year and it works really well and glitches every once and a while but it a great phone with a camera that works if you just want to capture a few special moments :) There are some reviews out there that say this isn't the best phone but for me it's great and I use it a lot for social media and games.

the speed on the browser of the phone is based on ure signal or wireless speed dont blame the phone for your wifi connection or signal and fyi a mobiles internet is always slow no matter the phone model and if your carrier has 2G only in your area well ofcourse it will be slow.... stupid people

to take a screenshot you press the power on button and the volume down button at the same time, holding them down till it makes a very loud snap and youll see the screenshot being shrunk - there is an odd delay before it registers the frame you want so if you are working with a video then you need to start pressing the buttons about 2 seconds before the frame you want

I paid 30$ for it and another 35$ to get it unlocked.For less than 70$,as a pay as you go phone it's decent.Its a basic cheap smartphone.As for battery life,yes it does discharge fairly quickly but I just turn all the settings down n it's fine.You get what you pay for so people should do their research before buying something.I knew what I was getting with this phone because I did some checking and knew the phones limitations.Im happy with it.You want all the bells n whistles,go spend 300$.People are so spoiled these days!

I like this phone, great bargain. To take a screen shot press vol- & power will store in gallery. Save batt power goto settings display brightness(set to 20%) most of batt is from display/music/video/speaker.Get the 2.9.201.1018 driver for usb,the default MTP one doesn't let you see the files.Got alot of HD space to use which is awsome I have downloaded other apps to view different video file types. Many newer games will run well, I decided on this phone because of the good specs and my tablet runs android(ics). Find a small mobile repair shop see if they got batteries buy one and throw it in your bag because battery life on this device isn't great.

I'm having the same issues as many others here. The apps stop working frequently and even when they do work, they're glitchy. The apps change position on the home screen all the time and reception is crap. Also, the GPS shows that I live in Louisiana but I live in northeast Georgia. Even calling my provider couldn't figure out why. In all the only thing this phone is good for is the occasional phone call. Rating it a zero would be a compliment.

This phone was the worst phone ever made. It was slow as hell. I would literally take about a minute and half to open any app. It would also make me miss phone calls. The battery life aND camera sucked. And forget about the alarm clock. It goes off a couple minutes after when it's supposed to.

This is easily the worst and slowest phone I've ever used. Giving it a rating at 0/5 stars is too much for this pile of garbage. At the very best an app or page will load in about 3 minutes (don't be suprised if it takes up to 10.) I would rather have no phone at all than this. The only upside to this phone is it has some good apps but other than that it is so bad that it is almost funny.

As with any ion battery you should follow these steps. 1) When you first get your phone , don't turn it on. 2) Insert the battery , and with the phone off , plug in the charger. 3) fully charged , turn the phone on and use it as normal. 4) For this first time , run the battery down completely. 5) turn the phone off (no charge maybe its already off) again completely charge your phone. 6) once charged , turn on the phone and use as normal. 7) Each night attach your charger and charge with the phone on. All the above trains the battery to not lose its charge. Once in awhile (perhaps each month or so) follow these steps as if the battery was new. I do this with every ion battery and have never had a problem. This phone included.

GPS not working downtown isn't a surprise at all. GPS requires line of sight view of a good chunk of the sky, so it can "see" the GPS satellites. If it can't see enough of them, then it won't work. Tall buildings, like you see in most downtowns, will block that view, making GPS less reliable, not more so. GPS works best out in the open, in the middle of nowhere.

This is Samsung's unltimate fail!!! Every 70 sec almost every app stops responding; facebook, google chrome, google+, calander, clock, processing, & youtube. I then have to wait for each one to respond again to close it AGAIN (what good it does since 70 sec later it all stops responding AGAIN! The thing won't make a sound either unless headphones are plugged in.

have had the phone since end of december 2013. Yes..battery life is much shorter than expected but am getting at least 24-26 hrs. Have had is freeze up a few times, but this happens on my home computer as well. have been using this as a back up for a while, it doesn't have the fast specs and performance as others but at 70$ it is a great first phone and back up that will do all the basics fairly well. the only issue is battery life, the most you will get out of this device is 4-5 hours even with light usage.

Fantastic $49.00 2nd phone, emergency phone for the glove box or employee hand out phone. This is the phone I take with me if there is a chance of me damaging or loosing my good phone. Its also its a good 1st phone for your 12 year old, it has a-gps so you can locate them. I have modded the phone with: NEXT Launcher Full, TEAM Battery Bar Pro, DIGI Clock Plus Full, Memory Booster Full, AdBlock Plus, MBAM, and a whole bunch of others. The phone was not meant to run all this and lags a bit, that's where the mem booster helps. Rooted, SIM Unlocked, Stock ROM. I have no battery problems. It has a 1300mAh battery, if you are listening to mp3's, have the wifi on and surfing the net, sending some texts and then gaming with the screen on full bright the whole time you can expect 3½-4 Hrs of battery life.

OK standby - 2nd phone for $49.00 CDN. Good for the glove-box, co-workers going out in the field and taking a company phone, going some place where you might damage/loose your good phone. I've put in the NEXT Launcher, TEAM Battery Bar, DIGI Clock Plus, Memory Booster Full Version and a whole host of others, this runs them all fine, it lags a little but mem booster helps with that issue. SIM Unlocked and Rooted. Battery life is fine, its ONLY 1300mAh, what do you expect with something that small. Run the phone as a MP3 player and go on WIFI, do some texting as well,,,3.5 Hrs at most.

Back in August a D Hurst wrote about the Samsung Discover and was clearly upset with its performance. My experience has been almost exactly like his. I bought mine in August from Future Shop. I wanted to give it chance so I didnt rush back to the shop. This phone is absolutely useless. From day one it has let me down. I have tried every combination of circumstances. You name it, I've tried it.No apps, battery savers, airplane mode on, wifi off, bluetooth off, sync off, take the battery out, put it back. I've been there. Read kilometers of reviews and blogs.Talked to Future Shop. Forget that.Dont ever even look at this phone unless of course you want to give it to a two year old baby to play with and pretend she has a phone. Its performance reminds me of that scene in the movies where the police tell the prisoner he can make one call. I make one call and the battery starts to drain and an hour or two later it has gone down to 30% from 97% And thats with the phone shut down completely.USELESS, Did I mention I didnt like it?

I bought this phone back in June or July for around 70 bucks CND its been a great phone for me, the only complaint i had was the camera was crap but i downloaded the cyrema app and its awesome! its my only phone and i use it ALOT for talking and texting as well as wifi I always have service and its clear no issues or complains from me. the battery holds a good charge for me, I always charge my phone when its off and i charge it only till its completely charged, leaving it plugged in when its not needed ruins your battery as does charging it while its turned on. Great phone IMO

I here to say that I'm very glad that I did because this phone is great for the price. My advice is to anyone thinking of buying this phone is to READ ALL THE POSTS. Time spend researching is never time wasted! I followed the advice of many who have posted that you need to initially charge this phone while it is still turned off. FIGHT THE URGE TO TURN THE PHONE ON WHEN YOU BUY IT.

i have had almost the exact same experience and have the same feelings. they take my money and every corporation passes the buck and has ignored me. i have purchased this phone for my parents for emergency calls and they have never been able to use it. the only "suggestion" i got was, we know this is a bad phone and everyone complains about the battery - samsung warranty does not cover battery, i'd suggest buying a new phone. -20 karma points for samsung. they should be ashamed.

Initially the default driver only let's you copy some media types to the phone, which was disappointing until I got a newer release of the MTP driver then it worked. I was swapping the sd card between the phone and tablet constantly before this :/

Yes, there is an indicator icon smiley as you should see at the top of the screen on a missed text msg/call that remains there, but unfortunately no beep/mp3 reminder to configure. I looked into an app to resolve the reminder issue for android os, and there are many out there like lightflow app. Only thing is the led light portion in the app does not apply to this phone, since it does not have one.

Wow sorry to hear that sir. These big companies nowadays care about nothing more than money, once they take yours you'll never see it again unless you're still able to return it. If the date passed then forget it. I just returned mine, getting rid of that piece of trouble. If you only need to talk to your Mother, why don't you just buy a reliable "Dumb"phone. Less worry about battery and drops. Good luck with that troublesome thing though.

I bought the Samsung Galaxy Discover phone on June 24 or 25 2013 and since that time I have had nothing but, trouble with keeping a charge! I charge the phone to 100% and leave the phone of and my battery is drained. I leave it on and within a 30min to hours time my battery is drained 30 to 40 %. I talked to the store where I have bought the phone and I have been treated like garbage and my complaint is a lie to them. Finally one of the store managers goes on the net and tells me that this type of phone has a flaw in it's design. I was giving another phone and it does the same thing. I called samsung and I was treated horribly to where the customer service rep hung up on me. I asked samsung for help and was given nothing. I asked for Head Office and was not given the info. I asked the rep for his name and he said Tim. I asked his last name he refused to give it and refused to give me his employee number. How can a company sell a phone with this problem? Why do people who work for samsung or my provider treat me like I am dirt? I pay as you go and because of this, I am not entitled to a lender phone. My money was easy to take, but to get help and compensated for all the stress and problems is unavailabel. I bought this phone because, I have a heart condition and to be able to speak with my precious mother everyday. I have to always find a place to charge my phone because it drains very fast no matter what! The rep from samsung refused to give me head office info or anyone in a higher position than him. This is morally repugnant!

I'm not kosmos but I can help with "Factory Reset" The factory reset reverts your phone back to like when you first bought it (Erases all your data) You can do this by going to the Settings App. Then "Backup & Restore" > Then choose the last option. I don't remember exactly what it's called (Something along the lines of Erase Everything, Reset Phone, or Factory Data Reset) Select that and follow the prompts. Personally, when it finishes I like to go to the recovery and choose "Wipe Data/Cache" as well. Hope this clears up some stuff. And to the other Anonymous I think I will follow his guide and return mine. The battery goes down 1% per minute lol. So thanks for the suggestion.

The phone needs to be power off and not standby. I have no data plan and wifi and gps are turned off. Most of the time I can go for standby for days without a recharge. But once a while it will discharge overnight. I still trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with it. The best way to to keep an eye on it. After you fully charge the phone, turn it on and wait for an hour or so. Check the battery drain meter. It should be pretty flat. (Assuming data is off, wifi is off, bluetooth is off and gps is off.) If it still show a fast drain, turn the phone off for a min then turn it back on and check on it after an hour. Usually that fix it. If you suspect you have a battery drain problem, return the phone if you can. It is not worth the trouble. A phone should be a reliable and predictable piece of equipment. Good luck.

Excuse me sir, but when you mean "Phone Off" do you mean that the phone is "Powered Off" (When you turn it on it goes through the boot sequence) or when the phone is just in standby (Just the screen is off and it turns on as soon as you press the button)? This is for people who have battery problem with this phone. If you leave the phone on, plug in the charger and turn the phone off. Unplug the charger cable when it shows full but leave the phone off. You will notice that the phone is warm for hours and when you turn it on afterward, the battery is drained. This is a flaw in the design. Normally the charger charges the battery and powers the phone. But when the phone is turned off. Some circuit in the phone is still enabled. Even if you unplug the charger afterward. This drains the battery. The only way to clear it is to turn the phone on and off. It has some kind of power latch up condition. If you are going to charge the phone, turn the phone off, then plug in the charge cable. Don't turn on the phone until charging is done. If you want to use it before it is fully charge, unplug the charger then turn it on.

440 hours standby time my @$$.. i take this phone off the charger when i wake up at 10:30 pm and by 4:30 am it says plug in your charger .. i have android assistant to auto kill apps that may open while in standby .. that didn't work so i rooted it to try to kill those pesky factory google apps that keep magically opening on their own .. still not any better .. this is with the mobile network turned off and basically nothing on the phone whatsoever .. says the majority of my battery usage is going to cell standby.. about to downgrade to an old phone here at the house that lasts for a couple days just so i can use it and not have to take my freakin charger to work with me

This phone is Junk! I purchased my phone in Feb 2013, since that time I have had nothing but trouble with the battery, I charge it 100% with the power off, leave it for 5 or 6 hours without turning it on, when I power up the battery is flat, or after a full charge without using the battery will loose 40% in 30 minutes, they have changed the battery but the results are the same.

the phone does not allow you to put your sim contacts on your phone. ive been messing with one to get the contacts off the sim and its like pulling teeth its so hard to do i still cant find any of the contacts on the sim. very bad fro a sleek and clever phone

just doing this model at work atm, i can safely for that even for a budget handset, your not getting alot for money. For some reason, its lacking many standard features of the android eco system. To name a few, cant view or change sms service number and also can not format the SD card. Just got the Discover, do not like it. Lot of features missing, I.e voice tape, memo pad, front face camers, think free, etc.. "GIO" is way nicer, easier to navigate and has more features. The only issue I started getting with GIO is my texts wouldn't go through all the time, I had to remove the battery, re-install it, then turn the phone back on, this happens at least once or twice aday.

Hi I have this phone and it's good as it has a fairly large internal memory for a prepaid (4GB minus almost 2 GB for the OS and preloaded apps). Apps can't be loaded or moved to SD card, only photos, music etc. I find the sound very poor, and Skype works very poorly - when load Skype, it says it may not work properly. But then phone is new, and maybe Skype will upgrade to be used with this version of ICS.
