What I found helpful is to plug the charger into my phone and leave it on my bedside table to charge ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT; and only unplug it the next morning. I do this every night and don't have battery problems with normal use. However, I have found that if you use a pushmail service which is connected to the internet 24/7, the battery lasts a maximum of 4 hours. Haven't yet found a 'cure' for this. It also helps to use dark themes as they use less battery power. turn off everything you don't need, eg the standby screen, power saver animations, lengthy backlightd, etc.

Super Phone. Press green/send button + Asterisk/star button + 3 button + red/power button - all four of them at the same time and keep them pressed for a few seconds. If you did it correctly, it should revert back to the blue theme and the first thing it would ask your country. This does a 'hard format' and resets your phone to the way it left the factory. I have found it resores my phone even after serious problems caused by iffy apps.

For its time, it was a great phone. After some 4 years, it still is. For everyday use, it is good. I believe that the best place for a GPS unit is on your phone. You can use is while driving and yet it is available when out walking and you can always find your way back to wherever you are staying, even in a strange town, provided that you recorded the location on arrival. For GPS turn-by-turn navigation it is one of the best phones made. However, it is disappointing that Nokia have no free navigation maps for this phone for India. I am actually running some other map on it and that system's guidance and voice is not as good as the phone's. I was looking forward to the 6120, but it does not have 3G, let alone the WiFi I miss in the 6110. So I will wait further before I will buy a new phone. Sound quality (Music): very good on earphones, good on built-in speakers which are loud enough. Camera: Quite good, only in good light. Battery could have been better lasting, but stand-by time is adequate. During Navigation, charge in car (or else!); while walking, stop and use whenever in doubt, unless charge is full and you can get to destination in an hour. (A trick is to keep the main GPS off, but to keep the "GPS Data" running, which consumes much less battery while keeping the GPS locked on. Run GPS when needed, briefly.)

Hello in Philipines. Im going der again soon, and i have a defective 6110nav, was wondering if this is still considered a good unit there? If its worth to repair mine and bring it... What i dont like is that its so thick, feels like an old brick, reminds me of N95, but much smaller display and no WIFI, so im not sure if its worth it, so im asking you?

What are you saying! N96 is one of the slowest ever, much slower than its predecessor N95-2. N96 was downgraded to dual Arm9 at low clock speed, i think Nokia did this to improve battery, since N95 and N95-2 lasted only a few hours. Its actually funny how bad N95 battery, i know of a gurl who have N95 and every time she visited the first thing she would do was borrow a charger, and she lived 5 minutes away haha. And i had similar problem with my N95-2, after 2 hours in the car i had to plug it in. N96 however, ok battery, even if its lower capacity, but slow yes... Still usable speed though

hi, this happened to my daughters 5530, but it came back to life when i charged the battery in another fone, it just needed a "jumpstart" to the battery, it has charged all by itself ever since. U dont have to use a fone dats exact same battery, as long as you can make some kind of contact its ok... Carefully check that its the same polarity (polarity is often swapped on Sony Ericzn, not sure if nokia also does this on some batteries) Or use a desk charger for the battery if you can find one. Do not use jump wires to connect the Nokia charger directly to the battery poles.

i think i know whats wrong with your fone... u need to change the flex cable of the slide. my 1st 6110 was the same: the buttons wouldnt work but when i had it changed it worked great. problem is the replacements available in the philippines are not of good quality... it broke down again after 2 weeks... but i bought a new 6110!!! its a really great phone... do you know where i can get a good flex cable replacement?

Thats because you press the red key for exiting an application. Because of the RAM of the phone, you can let some applications working... if you want to exit the program, you need to use back button (right selection key)

When I open the camera at night its too dark, and in few seconds becomes kind of white, like its something activating, and the camera at night is not good. When I open the camera, when its not dark, its good, when i put my hand on the camera and becomes dark, its starting to get like a white balance when is on dark, and is not good, it has like lines on the camera when picturing on night... Had the same problem. The ribbon cable that connects the slide to the main board of the phone got damaged with wear and tear. Cost R20 to buy the cable and 20 minutes to replace with the right tools. Download guide from the net

I have had my 6110 Navigator for two years now and it is time to upgrade.The 6110 is the best phone I have ever had and I just cannot siply decide which phone to upgrade to since nothing compares . Yes there are phones with fancy gadgets but you will never find a phone with the functionality the 6110 has to offer . Well done Nokia and can you still buy 6110 Navigators as I dont mind keeping it for life.Only 1 suggestion I can think of is the keypad is not very functional (if you sms a lot perhaps consider a keyboard similar to the Ericson w910 or samsung J750?)

Victor, it's about ram memory, you can have any storage card (4gb,8gb,...) there will apear the same message. you can install a kind of program like CCleaner. hold press the menu key and there will apear the applications that are running and you can close them.( i hope you undersatnd me because i don't know to write so good in english language) ;)

hi all, I got this phone sometime in 2007 or so(can't remember now) and I have enjoyed it so well especially the picture quality of the camera. the only problem is that mouth-piece had issues which resulted in me using the head phone as mouthpiece. I tried fixing the phone with Nokia Care in my country but they said they cant fix it here in Nigeria :(( . So right now I gave the phone to someone travelling to Dubai to help out. i just they will be able to help me out since I am so angry i have so many contacts in the phone and the phone cannot even come ON now. The Flex is also bad, so I just feel depressed about this issue. Please if you guyz can help with technical support please do. thanks! [email protected]

if you exit using the red button it doesn't exit the program just puts it on standby you need to press exit if you don't do this and leave too many apps running it can freeze your phone and cause problems.

You will have to format your phone. Go to the company or a place where they put softwares and format ur mobile and install new softwares. Before that you connect the 2GB chip to a computer and check it for virus using a good virus gard. ok

If you want to experience excelent music u will have to buy a 2.5mm audio jack to 3.5 audio jack conveter. They are avilable in manu eletronic shops or record bars (you cannot find then in mobile phone shops)It will not cost y more around the world it does not cost more than a one (1) USD. u can buy that jack and plug a sterio head phone used in computers and Hi-fy setups.

Yes as the video format of 6110 mobile phone is MP4 / MPEG4 you will have to have a MP4 video player such as VLC player or Quick time player or Real one player etc

No need of a call record software in ur 6110 mobile phone. While u r ansering a call or after taking a call u can go to voice recorder and record. When you have a 1GB or higher memory card u can record up to one hour continiously. And if the discussion goes more than one hour again u have to start recording as the recording stops in one hour. Ok.

I use it for 1,5 years. It's a big fat phone, compared to others, its camera really really sucks (too much noise under any light environment), no stereo/RDS on radio, the battery lasts for 1 day (with ~1,5 hours talk time and GSM only mode). Don't bother checking Nokia Navigator as is the most difficult NAV program to use, and depending on your country it may have a very bad map. Garmin instead is great, the integrated GPS performs well (disable it from connecting to internet cause you'll get a big paybill). I only use it in my work and the only good thing is the GPS.

I would be very greatful if someone could suggest which phone to buy. We have a love hate relationship with Nokia. The Navigation on this phone was fine but after a while the software started to freeze. You cannot pick up when it rings and end a call etc. We have tried Sony Ericson and Samsung as well and after a few weeks the same problem!! My husband is a business man and he receives and makes a few hundred calls per day. We can't seem to find a phone that can keep up. PLEASE, ARE THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS?? Thank you.

It would be a great all-in one, if it was tested before came out. I had it for more than a year, and it is an annoying little crap. It is all designed well, and the features are great, too bad that poor in overall quality. Call quality is useless - just like many other nokia(surely you don't know unless you try for a week or 2 a samsung or Sonyerricson or anything), cheap little samsungs and lg's are uncomparingly better. I bought this phone for hsdpa internet, which works good, however they forgot to tell that you either use the gsm or the 3g(hsdpa). If you set the connection to automatic, it will drop calls and call quality is nightmare, becuse it is switching between networks ?? (the nokia service guy said it is a known problem and said to switch to gsm, and just switch back to auto when you use the internet) I thoght it is phone, and plain camera, and handy internet tool. I was wrong. Now it is not a usable camera, not usable for the internet unless you keep swicthing connections everytime - and definitly NOT A PHONE - it is useless for calling (bad bad voice and speaker quality )ridiculous. The Navigation is working great though, so i found out this is a cheap NAVIGATION TOOL, and I can use my old $50 samsung for quality calls. So if you want a music player and mini navigator, get this but if you need to make calls too forget it. ALso forget for internet...

Stop talking rubbish. There is nothing wrong with the navigation software. I've had mine for over a year and it's been great as a GPS. If you wanted Wi-Fi, you should have not been so cheap and just paid the extra money.

I bought this phone bcoz of navigation and 3G internet. I have been using M600i and i could open many apps at the same time but with the 6110 i have to close all apps when on internet bcoz it runs out of memmory. It also runs out of mem even when all apps are closed and you open a few web pages not wap.

Had this phone for about 16 months now. At the 11 month 2 week period (just before warranty expired. Was still under warranty but 3 Hutchinson are a gready company and give nothing even when they are obliged to) when I connect to my bluetooth car stereo it drops off regularly. Had this repaired and problem still persists. Apart from that its packed with features and not a bad phone. Will be considering another network when my contract expires though.

This is a very nice phone for guys. The only problem is this, once you take out the original memory card and insert a new one with higher gig, then the memory port corrupts and there is nothing you can do to fix this. I guess it's one of Nokia flop with this phone. So think twice before you buy.

People i have a 6110nav v03.58 for over a year and its been grate, still grate! No problems, No errors, no switching off itself - NOTHING!! And I am using a 4GB HC Micro SD, Scandisk, of course and it reads just fine my old maps were loaded thanks to file transfer. I just need to Know how to get the GARMIN Mobile XT (loaded from the Samsung i560 or whatever) to work on my phone, the phones are using the same s60 os9x just the 6110nav OS is more advanced and 10x quicker.... I'm not hating on samsung, thats a fact! 6110nav owners lets update the phone and use FREE GPS forever.

Hi guys, I am Bangalore. i bought this mobile see the gps facility and new all together package. But to tell u i was really disappointed with the service. The slot where the memory card in put in, let the card and the saving in the set are vanised. We have once againg rearrange it. I called nokia customer care and technical team ther only know to tell u - pls reset the mobile to factory setting. I recently did a backup on my Navigator (got a bigger mem Card) ,Coudldnt restore data as 8 % through the restore message comes up that sez connection lost. That not an issue as I have copied all files form original card to new card. However , The hash key function used to select multiple items as well as to copy and paste within sms is nit functioning correctly. It works as though it is being "held down" when used in sms and for multiple selection. (e.g , if I press it to select an item in images , and then scroll , it automatically selects the next item and the next). It should only select an item when "pressed" and not select any items when not "pressed". Any suggestions on how i can resolve this issue?

hi you can update via ur cell but note that updates cost. Activate the gps and select options select extras select maps select route 66 store and then ur country. You can also do it through ur computer by using the route 66 map cd that came with ur cell. Not certain though how you pay on the net for it.

To all you guys having problems with the garmin maps for africa and other not so well covered areas. Have you tried google maps? I'm from Kenya, and I deleted garmin because I couldn't find maps. I installed googlemaps and now I have all the maps I need plus satellite and aerial photographs.

Hi Co, Is there something you did before your phone goes that way? If you have installed a program (application/game, etc..), try removing that suspected program. Try also Turning off the phone, remove the memory card, and turn on again. Check if you still get the problem even without the memory card. If still no avail.... Try restoring to Factory settings, BUT backup your data first. To reset to factory settings, go to Settings-Phone Settings-General-Factory Settings.

hi there Auvik I have also experienced the navigation proms you mentioned. I tried searchinh my own address and the phone couldn`t find it. I then found that it seems the language you need to use is very specific but still often experiencethese problems often taking time and effort to find simple things. Could you please explain more specifically how to use google maps as I travel often and always need maps of different countries other than my own which was the main reason I bought the phone in the first place. thanks

Good day,ive got Garmin 2006 loaded on my 6110 navi and it works great with 2007 maps,it does'nt freeze or lag at all.It does however it takes about 270MB memory but you can delete the voice prompts for other languages.

GPS can use network or not. It means it can be free of charge depending on your settings. To use it free of charge, go to settings-phone settings-general-positioning-positioning methods and UNCHECK "assisted GPS" and "NETWORK-BASED". Advantage of CHECKING (enabling) them is faster and more accurate GPS data. But for me, unchecking them works well enough.

The 6110 Navigator actually does not support 8gb micro sd. All micro sd card over 2gb is HC (High Capacity) and does not function with this device, which was really disappointing.

Those themes might b sis files and 6110 have some issue in installing sis files however u can try this your 6110 navigator supports SIS files, however do note that 6110 is a 3rd edition S60 device, as such only 3rd ed S60 software will work with it, those older applications from the the 1st and 2nd generation S60 like 7650, 3650, 6600 will not work with the 3rd ed S60 devices... also goto Application Manager click options/settings and make sure that Software Installation is set to "All" and Online certifiocate check is off you can also try

checking ur credit depends on ur server e.g. Vodacom is *100#. You need to disable agps else you will be charged for using the navigator via ur server. On normal gps you don't get charged. Anonymous to update your maps you can use the cd to link you to updating but you have to pay for new maps as far as i no.

Most themes for Symbian S60 V3 will work. But take note too, some themes will make your Navigator application fail to work. If ever you experience it, just don't load the theme.

HI Keita GPS is network dependant simply cos it is Global poitioning and your network will be able to point out where you are on the GLOBE in Latitude/longtidute. Navigation is built into the handset itself.

To Austin: You have to copy ALL files anf folders from your old memory cards INCLUDING the hidden files and folders. To show the hidden files/folders, on your Explorer (on your PC), Click TOOLS on the main menu then select Folder options. On the VIEW tab, select, select "Show Hidden files and folders". Select OK. Now copy everything from the memory card as you normally would.

Guys, I've discovered something. Be aware that using some themes generally designed for S60 3rd Editiion (which 6110 belongs) bugs your Navigator application. So if your Navigator does not continue loading, try using the default phone theme. It works for me.

Hi Karen, I found the way to turn off the phone saying the caller's name. Go to Settings - Profiles. Choose the Profile you want and Customize. There you will find "Say Caller's Name" - Switch to OFF.

Lisa, a Softwase update will not help. Hopefully Nokia will detect the problem and issue new software. In the meantime keep your phone on during weekends. The problem only occurs when the phone is switched of over weekends.

Lisa, what you described is true. I have made the same comment months ago. I have recieved my 3 rd phone and it has got the same problem. There is a flaw with the Nokia 6110 Navigator's clock when you set the clock for weekdays and turn it off every night. My service provider has tested several phones agreed with me that it is a problem. It is now referred to Nokia. hopefully they will resolve the problem.

All I can say is I am satisfied with the GPS of 6110. I don't own an N82 so I can't really compare. As for me, I would not buy 1 6110 if I already have the N82... You may want to consider the 6210 Navigator - newer and has a bigger screen, but with mono speakers, unlike the 6110 Navi.

Overall an average phone. The navigator application or GPS is a little to slow for current stanndards. The Navigator application is frustrating to use, cause of speed and limited locations. The phone has avery plastic cheap feel to it. Not as strong feel as the original Nokia 6230. Camera shutter rattles after one accidental drop from waist hieght to floor. Keypad is hard on the thumbs. Battry is good. Good use of optional short cut keys, to suit your preference.

I ried what you said on my 6110 but I got no problems. Try this one. 1. Reset the phone. Turn off, remove the battery for about 1 minute. Put back the battery and turn on again Try if it solved your problem. If not successful.... 2. Restore to factory settings Backup data first. Go to Settings - Phone Setting - General and select "Factory Settings" If not successful 3. Update your phone firmware "IF" you are not on the latest version. I just purchased the nokia 6110 navigator 2 weeks ago and I really love it. I just have one problem and dont know if its a fault or If I am doing something wrong. I set my alarm clock to go off weekdays only (mon - fri) and the actual date on the phone stops every friday. Well it doesnt move over to Saturday. The time changes but the date with the month, day and date on it just stays on Fri?????? I have to manually change it. My service provider only gave me 7 days to change phone. I got the phone on Friday and didnt set alarm til monday. when I realised it was a bit strange it was already 2 fridays later. Please could someone help. so cant change it. is there a general problem with the Keypad on the 6110, my keypad light for the numbers 1,2,4,5 just doesnt go off. it stays on even when i put the phone off. only when i take the battery out does it go off. Sending it back to Vodacom to see whats wrong.

I have had this phone for over a year...its a very good phone if you are just usesing it for calling and txt and taking photos, but if you want more i wouldnt go for this, i have over 100 apps on my phone some times it is very slow...,if you were on say the n95...it wouldnt make much differents, and for the GPS i give it a 10 out of 10 cuz you dont have to pay and it gets GPS very fast ten times faster then n95/8gb, and also the phone is bit fat, and when you slide the phone up or down it will hit your key pad and will leave marks, and the 2mp is not bad asit has a case over it, that will alow it to work to its best al the time. the looks of the phone are not bad, just a bit big, but over all i give this phone a 7 out of 10, if your are lookintg for a good phone that has verything that you would need the nokia n95/8gb,n73,n78,n82,n81,6220,6210 and 6110...they al have everything you will need thanks

hey no probs. ummm reception between the 2 phones wouldnt be much differnt as they both 3G handsets which generally have a slightly stronger inbuilt antenna over your standard gsm phones) and battery life between the 2 are almost identical aswell. now to which one is built better, there isnt to much differnce except that the 5700 is slightly lighter and more premium qualty speakers. as the 6110, although an exceptionally loud phone, is commonly known for the speakers to blow because the speakers just cant handle the high volume whereas the 5700 is designed to being a music-based phone. so if u do end up getn the 6110, im just sayn, leave the volume on 80 or 90% instead of 100% lol. hope that helps :)

to your 1st question...thats a toughie. both good phones, so its just a matter of weather the gps would come in handy or not. because if it would, go the navigator but if not, gp the 5700 as it has a better music setup and bigger memory card. to your second question.... id say the n82 personally just beacuase it has the bigger viewing screen for photos. the 6220 photos when viewing on the screen isnt as clearer coz of the high resolution on a smaller screen. besides that, both phones i would highly recomend :)

i would probly have 2 say the 6110 would be the way to go. the i560 is lil 2 bulky and comes with no memory card. and although the 6110 is only 2mp camera, it still takes really sharp photos in comparison to other phones with higher quality camera. hope this helps

Hey guys I have a ques please if can someone clears my doubt. Does this cell gives the position in latitude and longitude? If it does than this position is been received directly from the satellites or the service provider has got some role in it? In places where there is no signal from the provider than this cell still get the position from the satellite and display it in latitude and longitude as am in navy and most of the time out at sea we dont get signals from the provider? and last question how is the bass effect in the headphone of the cell? please answer coz i want to get this phone as soon as possible.thanks

It is rubbish. I've never had more problems with a phone than I do now with this one. They keep saying it's a software problem but no one can ever seem to figure it out. I've had it for 4 months and have taken it for reapirs 5 times already. It has potential to be a great phone, if it actually worked at all and I could see my screen without it flashing on and off all the flipping time.

Yes you can renove the background icons. Enter the Menu->Settings-> Phone Sett-> General->Personalization->Standby Mode and turn off Active Stanby. Hope I helped you.

The loudspeaker is really good. I believe it�s one of the best. It has a sound effect option (3-D Tones). You can modify the sound quality by adding effects like �Sound Trajectory� or �Reverberation�.

Actually you can upgrade the memory card and keep your maps! If you knew anything about phones you would know this. When you transfer the files to your new memory card you have to show the hidden files whilst the card is in your computer. Click on tools, folder options and then the view tab and you will see a selection that says view hidden folders and files. Make sure that is checked and hit ok. Once you have done that open the system folder then apps and copy and paste the navigator folder into your new memory card. If you have any problems doing this email me at [email protected] and i will do my best to help you.

In Navigation mode 'address' is for searching address in you map. For example if you live in Australia then write sydney in the address option then you will be able to see the map of sydney. If you want to find something more specific like a restaurant then write down the name of the restaurant (exp: pizza hut) then it will show you pizza hut in the map. You said that you are getting no result prompt. I think its because the map of your country is not loaded. You didn't write about your country. So I can't tell that for sure. If you have the map of your country in the cd and if its not pre loaded as free map like sydney then you will have to purchase it :( You can download google map. Its very good. But you need an unlimited subscription of gprs or edge to run google map. You can use gps with google map. I don't have the map of my country so I use google map. Its good. You can try it. I hope this will help you.

you guys try to get Nokia Maps 2.0, it's compatible with 6110. I personally think that it's better than route 66 pre-installed, a lot more like a GPS interface.

This is an unsuccessful venture for NOKIA in NAVIGATION option as No Dealer is able to explain this or any service centre has the patience to set this navigation. I have committed a mistake in buying this model. We can not also upgrade the memory card as navigation will not work, if U upgrade it.

I only want to find out how to upgrade the maps as it only has the 2006 Q4 maps. that's 2 years ago !! Other than than it is brilliant. Battery live is longer than what is posted.

Unbeleivable Phone! Sat Nav works perfectly, Phone features work perfectlty. Have only had to reset the phone after I have installed some rogue application. There are tons of usefull software out there that works on this phone. I highly recommend Nokia's own software, SportsTracker for GPS tracks etc. The quality of speech is brilliant. Camera does not like darkness, but in reasonable light, does a superb job.!

Please help a real oaf. I bought and downloaded a UK map from Route 66 to my 6110. It said it was being saved to my computer and phone. I can't find the map on either. How do I know it will work when I go to the UK from SA? I would be most grateful for any help in simple layman's terms.

i have this phone for 5 months now...very happy with it. the only thing that i find strange is that it gets a little warn if i browse the internet too much(but that may be because of my hands, i don't know :D ) pros: very good GPS(if u use other app than the one it comes with which is crappy); very loud and clear speakers' sound, bright display, fast response in app, good camera for a 2mp,VERY nice video recording smooth and the list can go on... cons: none at the moment I highly recommend it!

I have had my 6110 for 7 days now. I am still very happy and have had no problems so far. Downloading with 3.5G takes about 10 seconds per 5 mb. So hsdpa does do the trick! I agree with wanting a 3mp or 3.2mp camera in the phone, but even the 2mp takes great photos. VDJ.

when u use any magnetic case for slide phones, it will do something funny, like unlock your keypad automatically/answer calls etc. so magnetic stuffs is NOT recommended for slide phones. hope this helps!

just updated the firmware, all seems well but i do get a short delay and clicking sound when i play the videos. the clicking only happens on vids taken with the phone. i think someone had the same problem but with their music. not such a big deal but can be annoying. i have dial up so it took me 9 hours to update, also the update may complain about losing the connection to the server because the dial up is too slow but keep trying. the gps is built in but make certain you deselect agps else u will pay to navigate. mph to km/h i can't remember how to do but i found out by reading past comments on here, so go over them. you may find more info on other questions you may have. updated my pc suite software and seemed to sort out the modem problem, still can't get it to see my phone even though it's connected and transfering files. ps if you guys haven't given it a try download widsets, it's free, through the nokia site on your phone under downloads. comes in handy for news, games, and checking your mail. the nokia site link should be pre installed on your phone.

I got my 6110 navigator today and WOW!!! The sound blew me away! One would think that Nokia only focused on the gps, but they certainly did not. I must still test the gps, and the camera. Buttons are placed well for quick access to anything. BUT, try to get a black one. Mine is white and the keypad lights shine through the casing in the dark, making it look like a cheap rip-off. Lots of features and i would recommend it to anyone whose looking for a great phone with good looks, and sound... VDJ.

I've installed Garmin software on my Navi and it works great as it's got the 2007 SA maps but it takes about 200MB on the memory card.Much better than the Route 66 software as it takes long to pick up GPS satalites.

I will be getting a nokia 6110 navigator on a contract in about 4 days. My question is : Was this a good or a bad choice? Other options were: Nonia N73, Nokia 6500 slide, Nokia 6500 classic, Sony Erricson, and Samsung D900i. I have never had such a phone before, and wonder if i will be happy with it, because this is a 24month contract. To Tsepz, The battery life is just fine. I won’t say ‘good’. If you talk a lot then it will cause you a little bit trouble sometimes and if you use gps then the charge will stay for 2 hours max. However this handset is really great except the battery life. I really enjoy using it. Using internet in this handset is a pleasure. I send all my mails from my cell phone and sometimes I download mp3. It’s great. If you want to buy it then just go for it...

not to bad but I have some trouble with the sound on the phone. I've sent it in for repairs, but onle two weeks later and the problem is back. Navigation is ok but I've found some new area's to be missing from the map in JHB. I've also find it tends to take me through some dangerous area's that I don't think is nice for woman. Who want's to drive through Hillbrow Yeoville at night or day for it is worth. I know it's the shortest way to my house in Houghton, but still. You'd think that the phone is in your hand and the next moment it's gone stolen by a smash and grabber! I like the interface and would sell the phone to friends to also get one.

hi shelly i live in JHB and found the nav to be great, haven't had problems. i even used the nav to find directions to a street address in fourways blv from my home near auckland park without having to move. only deal is the string address and when i was looking for roos and fourways i had to type in roos only, but found it quick enough in the results. i took the phone for the gps cause i don't like getting lost. if people buy the nav for the gps they have to use it, even when they know where they are going, you don't have to put in an address, just switch it on and see how it tracks you. no point in having a gps if you don't experiment with it, but make sure you have a car charger. hope this helps.

Hi everyone. I hope I can shed some light on this phone for people contemplating a purchase. I must say I love Nokia phones, their Symbian S60 series phones are very nice. I previously owned a Nokia N70 before this phone, and a Nokia 6600 before that, and before that was a Nokia N-Gage. All of these phones were Symbian phones. The S60 3rd edition is a lot more stabler, and very quick compared to the likes of even the N70 (S60 version 2.0) which got very sluggish after taking so many photos and videos. The 6110 Navi is just okay for taking pics and videos, as its not an N-Series the display on the screen is a lot brighter, but when you actually view the picture on a pc or big screen, there is a lot of noise and static, as the lens isn't as good and tries to cope without as much light. All in all, I'd say its a decent phone, having used a Tom Tom GPS prior to buying this phone, the GPS function does have its limits, sometimes its a bit fiddly to try to get to another destination in between your current position and your final destination. You basically have to set a 'TRIP' instead of normally navigating to an address or saved landmark. Another gripe with the phone is that the actual call quality I get on my Navi is quite muffled compared to my N70. Couple that with the not-so-solid construction and you get a bit of a squeaking case when you're pushing the keypad buttons or even just holding it next to your ear during a normal phone call. This is really annoying for the person you're talking to, as the squeaking gets amplified because the microphone is inside the casing, and the buttons are a bit clickety, compared to the softer push action of the N70. Imagine the person you're talking to is on a 6110, and they want to punch something into the calendar while talking to you.. They start pushing the keypad buttons as they're entering text, and it sounds like they are wacking a table with a ruler. REEAAALLY ANNOYING. When I first got the phone, it frequently resetted on me while using the GPS, but I upgraded the firmware and everything was fine after that. Another gripe, more to do with Symbian than the phone itself, is that you can't perfectly transfer all your SMS and MMS texts and messages from an S60 V2 phone to a V3 phone. I have tried this, and it appears to work, but then the phone freezes after you've turned it off or reset. I had a heap of SMS messages saved from my N-Gage, 6600 and N70 and wasnt able to port them over to this. Also, with new S60 V3 applications, they must have a signed certificate or something. Most of the time when installing a new application, you may get an expired certificate error. In some cases this is easily negotiated by changing the date of your phone, installing the application and then changing the date back. Some applications however just won't work, as they require deeper functions that the phone needs a proper Symbian signed certificate for. I'm no expert on this, but used to use the excellent program FExplorer on my N70, but haven't been able to get the new FExplorer 3rd edition to work on my Navi. Its a nice looking phone, decent size screen, light sensor so the keypad glows when there isn't much light, and its my first slide phone. The slide can shoot up accidentally when slipping it into a pocket now and then, but this isn't a major thing. The position of the Navigator key on the front just under the directional pad though, is a bit too close to the pad, maybe I have fat fingers, but sometimes you're racing around the menu and bang, you accidentally hit the Navi key and she starts to go into the GPS mode. This takes about 5 seconds to exit, as the splash screen appears and then goes to the map allowing you to exit after that. For all the perverts and voyeurs out there, NO you can't turn off the shutter sound when taking photos, something which I used to love about my N70 and previous phones - No i haven't stalked anyone.... recently. Battery life as far as I can tell is pretty good, although I have a nice little car cradle which is just for the 6110, and allows you to slide her up and still hold her in place at the same time, allowing you to punch in numbers, etc and I have a cigarette car charger that I hook up to it when in the car. The charging port is on the top of the phone, a little strange seeing as I'm used to the charge port on the bottom. The display of the phone is very clear, and has much better resolution than the N70, although as I was saying about the actual pictures before, they look a bit grainy compared to an N series. If you're looking for a decent phone and a GPS in one, this is an OK choice. (I hate carrying around an array of gadgets) I am hopeless with directions, so I really needed a GPS, and I still have to part ways with my N70 which I am still keeping for now in hope that I can transfer my message across before I sell her off. Good size phone, lots of functions as usual for the S60 phones, nice and quick, GPS works well if you can get used to it and overall probably around an 8 out of 10. My dream phone is probably an N95 8GB or a Nokia N93 or N93i, as I dream about the thought of having 3X optical zoom on the 93's and VGA quality video. If I can be of help to anyone just email me. sorry to hear about the phone giving u so much trouble but with all phones you will get a few duds. I worry about upgrading software so has any1 had success with that? Also for the string address in nav leave out the words street and road. Just put in the street name, number and area. If i already said this sorry but my last comment didn't upload.

You need to turn the Assisted GPS (AGPS) off for the browsing to be free - it does come preloaded with all of the maps. AGPS generally helps you lock onto a satellite faster as it downloads more information about your location, hence the download charge. If you just want to use the preloaded maps, then turn it off, be patient and wait for the map to load (can take a couple of minutes sometimes).

Hi I just got my 6110 not to long ago and I was blown away by the GPS it locked onto a Sat in less than 5 seconds. However, after upgrading the software to V4.22 it now fails to lock onto a Sat as fast. At times it will never lock on, other times I have to close the Navigator and reopen it a few times until it locks (while doing so I did not move from my current postion) I am from SA and I have turned off AGPS but it doesnt seem to have made much of a difference. Has any one else noticed this? Thanks Deno

mumof5: I wanted to use my memory card cause it had my music on and was 1GIG, I used the Nokia Map software found on the CD that came with the phone, transfered the maps to my computer, put in my other memory card and transfered the maps the phone again, they were saved directly to the memory card. works fine. Does anyone know if you can lock the keypad without having to open and close the slide? Sometimes I use the phone without opening the slide and have to lock the keypad by opening and closing it again.

Ok, i bought the phone and love it. a bit of info for peeps in South Africa on price, look at cacell and exactmall, price is currently under R3700, or go to nokia's website and look for retailers, i found one down the road from me via nokia's recommendations for R3350 vat incl all networks and a 2 year warranty with nokia. To remove the AGPS (you get charged about 1c per 3-5min) got to Settings - Phone settings - General - Positioning - Positioning methods - as far as one of the posts go only intergrated GPS should be ticked. Just tested it and seems to work fine. I had the samsung F300 before this one, the Nokia has a louder speaker and other options, camera and video is a lot better plus screen quality is wow. i don't mind the 2MP camera because i have a digital but it's good enough. i'm still learning about the phone so can't say much else. take a look at nokia's site on your phone for free content like a wellness diary etc.

HELP! When I bought my Navigator, I tested the phone (not the nav application) in the shop using my old memory card. I was confident that the map of the country I bought it from is already in the phone NOT IN THE BUNDLED MEM CARD! So, I didnt mind the memory card that was in the box and now i've lost the thing. Does anyone reckon that if I go back to the shop, they could perhaps transfer the contents of that memory card from one of the Navigator boxes there into my own memory card? and if they do, will the thing still work? If it won't it shouldn't bother me much cos I didn't buy the Navigator for that. It's such a good phone, i bought it for its form factor, being an S60 3rd and its speed. But it will be nice to have the navigator working on a detailed map. So i'd like to know has anyone of you transferred the contents of the bundled memory card into your own memory card and if it worked. Thanks.

ime23: make sure that you have the map loaded. it should've come with the fone's memory card when you bought it. i did that terrible mistake of leaving the memory card as i had my old one and cos the salesperson didn't tell me that the map was in the pack's mem card - i reckon that's why i get the same error as u. still have to load the map though - hopefully that solves it. the alarm of nokia 6110 navigator will set off even if it's turned off when the alarm time comes. i think most, if not all phones have that feature to change the message alert tone: go to menu>settings>profiles (choose the one u're using)>personalise>message alert tone

Hi, I've just got this phone. My previous phone was a samsung D900 and it had a really useful feature - for me anyway. I use the alarm clock every day, with the Samsung the alarm would come on when the phone was switched off, a great battery saving device. I can't find anything like this on the 6110 - am I missing something or doesn't it have this feature. Thanks

This phone is absolutely fantastic!!! The GPS is very accurate in Cape Town and its free (as long as assisted GPS is off). As a smartphone, it functions very well - the phone is fast and applications work great! I just wished that the camera had auto-focus, but it serves my requirements well enough, I have a 8MP digicam anyways. Keep up the good work, Nokia.

ime23 When you type in your address look carefully at the example they give you. You need to type the street name first then the number then the city. You should have better luck that way. I do not know how you were doing it before but just check against the example. Hope that helps.

hi me again, went searching through the reviews and for those of you who don't want to go through the some hundred or so opinions this is what i found here about the GPRS. For people who are confused by this, the Nokia 6110 has its own GPS receiver, tyou can connect to satellites free of charge and you dont have to connect through GPRS Uh, sorry if I didn't put in the name of the person who wrote the opinion, was in a hurry but thanks for the info. I've sent an email to Vodacom asking about this and let's see what they say.

hi i also want to know if the GPS is standalone. was trying to decide between the HTC Tytn and the Nav but the Nav has a better screen. I don't use wifi so that's not important and the reviews are more positive about the Nav than the Tytn, although I had a look at the Tytn and it was a nice looking phone. Still will go with Nav.

Okay. So I work in a phone outlet in Australia. First of all, someone asked how this phone compares to the N95. One. The N95's maps cost to use. I keep having ppl that are told they don't. They do. Trust me. Two. The N95 has a LOT of features. Which is great BUT because of this the battery life is not terribly good. Three, the N95 has software problems. This is not as big of a problem as it sounds though, a simple software upgrade will fix this 99.9% of the time. Basically you need to weigh up what features you need more. I opted for the nav but my partner has the N95. If you need gps but are tight like me then the nav is the way to go. If you need the WLAN and the better camera then obviously the N95. Someone else asked about the 6500 slide. NOO!!!!!! DO NOT DO IT! Don't get me wrong these are fantastic phones... When they work!! (which isnt often) Major software errors and they will show up within the first week. If you're tossing up between that and this, look no further!! Finally, I get around 3-4 days out of the battery on this one. I use it constantly and it is never turned off. My mum has the same phone and she probably gets at least a week out of it. If you use the gps lots, it will chew it. Fast. First day I got it I used gps all day and it died by that afternoon. This is one of the 2 most reliable phones we sell and boy do they walk off the shelf:)

If you are having long connection times for your N95 gps, you need to update the software. Mine now finds the satellite faster than my Garmin!

Hi, i don't think its door to door but it is pretty close (About a 10 meter radius) I don't now if you can view live TV on it yet so if anyone knows please let us all know. I tried using the video camera in the dark last night but i could not activate the light. The N70 light switches on automatically when you begin to record. Hi, i think that the 6110 nav is great. I have always been a Nokia guy but this 6110 nav takes the cake. Its navigation is fast and easy to use. The directions are very accurate and when travelling it shows me the exact right information like car speed and when i stop at a stop street. This is not the only good thing. Its sexy compact and easy to operate, which is one of Nokia's trademarks. The sound is good and the guys voice on the msg reader is also very clear. It has good office functions and excellent graphics. The camera takes clear pictures and maintains the clarity when zooming in or out. It does however short a stabilizer in the camera function. However the cover of the 6110 nav is plastic and unlike the Nokia N70 with the metal face case, the one on the 6110 nav is plastic which feels a little cheap and i don't foresee it having much of a life span. I hope in this regard Nokia have gone ahead and produced a stronger more durable cover for the 6110 as its the kind of phone you don't want to put down. The front camera latch is also a slurp, as its not just a flick and its open like most other phones. You have to apply subsequent pressure to open it which could result in you missing one of those memorable moments. Apart from the small things i have mentioned, its my opinion that all round, the Nokia 6110 nav is a good phone and i would recommend it to anyone. Well done Nokia. Regards Nick from SA

nokialoverbtimer, you'll just have to decide which one is more useful for you - n80's wifi or navigator's gps. but one thing's sure, navigator's faster than n80. it's as fast as 6120 classic and 5700 music express beause they have the same processor, i think. these 3 are much faster than our daughter's n73. another plus for the navigator is that though a bit heavy, it really feels sturdy and built-to-last. i've got the white one. am not sure if n80's build is similar.

Vodacom told me that the GPS function in South Africa is free of charge. I have yet to establish if you have to pay for updated maps though. Mine ordered today (31 March 2008) on the basis of these comments.

I just got these phone for only two days, it's a great I can say from Nokia... The GPS connection only need 10-40 seconds, if bad weather it will only take 1-2 minutes but it's still better than Nokia N95 that I have to wait for 5-10 minutes for the GPS connection. But ONE things to remind all the users of 6110 Navigator, that is the alluminium-like camera cover that bear the 2 Megapixel wording is very fragile... I just bump into something that is not so hard and it sunken a little bit... Please becareful

i really believe this is a great phone, very easy to use but there are a few negative points such as the battery life when you have the gps and bluetooth switched on (problems that can be fixed with a good car charger. The loudspeaker is great as well but the biggest dissapointment is that my phone finds it difficult to get satelite reception even when im outdoors or driving, it has taken from one or 2 mins up to 15 mins. is there any way i can make the satelite reception recive quicker?

I got myself this phone and it is honestly an amazing phone and yes the GPS System is absolutely free and does not expire after a certain time length. The sound is beyond any persons expectation concerning "phone" ofcourse... so if you love noise then this is for you. the camera quality,dispite the fact that its a 2mp camera is quite good. i got 6110 two weeks ago. Best hp produced by NOKIA so far even exceed N95. no wireless is a minor problem for me but the most sad thing about the hp is that you have to pay for the navigation maps. They provide 'custom' button and software but you need to pay to enjoy the facilities especially you travelling abroad.

The GPS is outstanding. One thing: I cannot enter Lat & Long coords. Say 34 degrees 18.67 minutes. I can't get past the 34 degrees. How exactly shout lat/long be typed in ? In my Garmin Etrex Legend, I would key in 34.18.67 for example. Please help ! Cheers, Errol

Love it, love it, love it! This is a great phone, has some mad features and besides the obvious GPRS feature it offers alot!. Good substitute for the blackberry if your considering something other than that. Lots of memory, great for games as well. Also it is one of the loadest nokia phones ever produced, so for music and ringtones its great with sound features. For those of you who want a phone that looks sleek and stylish and you dont care about features, this is definately NOT the phone for you. firstly, Yes Dan. it comes with route 66 navigation for south africa. works great! I was forced to take this phone because it was the only reliable phone available at the time of returning my broken samsung G800. cons: 2MP camera, small screen, buttons and menu take a few days to get used to if you not a nokia person. pros: GPS nav with s/w, you don't have to pay for GPS s/w like for the N95. small,thin,light very responsive(not slow at all) great slide (i love slides) reliable black/silver combo looks gr8 long battery life, even when using GPS. 1 touch GPS, picks up sats in secs. overall: besides for the 2MP camera which is not too bad this phone deserves every compliment it gets. This is my first nokia since 2000 and nokia have come along way since then. The GPS actually works faster than the GPS in my 3 series. very user friendly. you can change tons of settings and it can also be used in offline mode on those long flights. i am using an 2GIG card hot swopped without formatting from my TYTN 2 and it works perfectly. I am very impressed with the quality. This phone is currently FREE on all the networks cheaper contracts in SA and should be on top of your list if you are shopping for a new phone with a smaller budget. It cost roughly around R4500 to purchase. i will surely be looking out for other new launches by nokia including the much talked about N96 which is said to be launched here around christmas but will not be cheap!

I got my Nokia 6110 in October 2007 from Nashue Moblie in Cape Town. Under the following conditions the date on my Nokia 6110 does not change from Friday to Saturday: 1 The alarm is set for weekdays (Mon to Fri) 2 The phone is switched off at nights This causes that the next Monday it is still indicating Friday or Saturday resulting in no alarm!! I had a software update- did not help. Then the phone was replaced by Nashua Mobile in Feb 08 as it was only 4 months old. The new phone has got the same problem!!! Is this a flaw in all Nokia 6110 phones?

@gaesco Dude, are you sure you have this phone? Once you set up the time it will automatically appear on your stand by mode, look closely on your screen, you might be using a theme that contrast the color of your fonts. Regarding saving edited pictures on your phone...dude, the phone does this automatically too!

I have this phone for 7 months now and I have to say this is a very very good Nokia phone..never hang on me. Batt life is good at 2.5 to 3 days moderate use. OS is reponsive. Only beef I have is when that I was unlucky to have one DOA on the first day, had it repaired on the second day. And Now after 7 months, I send it in again as the USB was not working since day one but I left it as that for the moment thinking phone software could be upgraded over the air but not true for us here in Singapore. The Singapore clueless service centre informs that no spare part for this phone so need to wait for it to be shipped in and no leadtime given. Call Nokia Cust relation hotline they are off no help. Bottomline is Great phone if there is no defect as after sales support is a huge disappiontment.... Nokia competitors can do way better even with cheap labour.

i have had this phone for two months now i find that the battery life is fine for my usage as i generally text most of the time i have used the gprs a few times and i think for the 2mp the camera does ok, my battery last a week when charged from flat to fully charged. people suggesting otherwise may either have a fault battery or use more features than i do which would explain there quick draining of battery power

Help! I got the phone because I thought "Practically unlimited entries and fields" meant that I will be able to download all my outlook contacts easily. I admit that 5870 contacts might be a bit much, but my KJam took it just fine. Real problem is, how can I clear all these numbers now - it's in AND the phone is now saying "memory full" even if I just look at it. Deleting one by one will almost be impossible. Please help. Re: Zahiir Battery life is ever rarely wat the manufacturer says. especially if u use the functions such as GPS; here the battery life could be drained in about 2 hours. Well u may get 11 hours of battery life, if you dont use the phone (which i doubt will be the case)

I got this phone yesterday on Vodafone UK. I'm liking it very much so far, but only have one problem with the GPS. I was under the impression that the UK and Ireland map would be free and unlocked seeing as how I purchased it in the UK. This is not the case and when I zoom in to where it finds me I get a message asking me to activate this map. Does this mean that I need to pay �50 to buy the UK map, just as I would any other map, or is there something else I need to do to unlock this map? I am only interested in the UK map for now. I managed to install the Nokia map loader software onto the phone and use the Free UK map with that, but I am interesed in using the standard Nokia Navigator software aswell.

i have got this phone for about a month now and the phone is fantastic, i love this phone it's the best phone i had but i noticed having a few problems with it like eg.my phone froze once when bluetoothing a mp3 but the main problem is when being on mxit because i would be chatting and recieving messages then suddenly i notice that i would stop recieving messages which is really really annoying because if i login again it's works fine then it happens again...........is it to do with 3g coverage?........ please help me out if anyone's having the same problem or if anyone knows what i should do

Arshad Hey im also from SA,JHB. Thats great news that you are happy with your 6110-Nav but may i correct you in some places. I doubt 6110 can fully boot in 5secs,ive got an N81 which uses similar hardware,the actual boot up is in 20secs which is still realy fast especialy for a smartphone. Another thing,its not a 387mhz CPU, it has a 369mhz Freescale CPU also used in N81. Indeed Nokia have done well these phones. :-) 6110-Nav has great GPS, better than N95.

I chose this phone over the HTC TYTN II because: 1. it has a better resolution 16TFT as opposed to something ridiculous from HTC. The picture quality is amazing at 1600x1200 2. There is full HSPDPA and EDGE. Downloading emails via pop3 is easy and lightning fast. 3. Its running Symbian v60 which boots up the entire phone in 5 seconds as opposed to over 1 minute with the HTC and needs rebooting everyday and the HTC TYTN II is slowers that HTC TYTN I as its running windows mobile 6 which is rubbish. 4. It comes with 512 MB RAM - micro SD card comes with full map of South Africa. You must buy additional Tomtom software for teh TYTN II and it freezes all the time. The Nokia N95 comes with a map of only 1 city. you must buy a map for every additional city. 5. It has 2 biiig speakers and you can hear navigation loud and clear with the radio on. 6. Sound quality is amazing. Listen to Radio(TYTN II doesnt have) or loud MP3/4s. 7. The GPS software inuse is called Route66 and works like a charm! 8. It has USB 2.0 and bluetooth 2.0 9. People can hear me on my bluetooth car kit. I had a loud noise on the phone with HTC. 10. Nokia has the ability to move all pictures to My pictures on the computer louder and clearer 11. The phone boots up in under 5 seconds as opposed to over 1 mins with HTC. 12. I can SMS and drive now. 13. Nokia menus are much easier and faster now to use 14. It has a 387MHZ CPU running Symbian which is virtually error free unlike Microsoft's version of Windows Mobile which slows down the 400mhz processor to a dead still on the TYTN II. as opposed to 15.fast to move around the map and zoom in and out 16. It comes with a nice pouch and got a free Nokia cellphone stand for the car I left Nokia after buying the 6260 which was loaded with a buggy first version of Symbian. Be very careful when using the GPS Navigator. Whilst travelling to the other side of town the navigation worked perfectly until the last strech of road. The system took me trhtough a state forest and led me to a fire access track where I could not turn around. Luckily I drive a 4x4 but it was a struggle getting through. Would have been in heaps of trouble if I had a conventonial car. Other than that works fine.

Date does not show on display when in any other profile, camera(esp nite pics) much better on 6288, video has larger resolution on 6288(640 x480, no motion wallpaper on 6110 nav, time does not show on 6110 when using the web

2 of my cousins purchased 6110 units and both needed to return them after 2-3 monthes for repair- either after it was dropped unintentionally or with no obvious reason- and one is still waiting for his device(in which he can�t get to his instored data and the screen keeps on freezing) and the other got another 6110 unit instead, to return it after a month and to get a third device, which is at the nokia survice at the moment and he is waiting for the fourth one!!! can people who used 6110 tell me if this problem is common with 6110 or it�s just that these cousins of mine are so lame?????????

i love this phone..the gps i a very good feature on it..that's why i chose this phone over N95 of N95 8gb . The display is excellent and i simply love the horseshoe rotting menu on the symbian S60. the 3d sound is great, and the stereo speakers work well.. the camera is decent, but i'm perfectly happy with it. plus, it is protected with a stylish lens cover. (be careful with the lens cover, and with the back cover of the phone, as the brushed aluminium-esque is prone to scratches. get a phone sox, pouch, or cover..like i did =P) if this phone comes with the 3.2 megapixels carl-zeiss vario tessar optics with autofocus feature..then this would be the best, perfect phone ever..at least, to me =P

hi its ish again. today i encountered a problem first time ever. My phone decided to switch its self off, but when it turned itself back on, i tried to go into messages then it completely froze up. could not turn it off, tried to call it from house phone could not get through. the only way i could fix it was to take the battery out. has anyone else had this delimma? never had this happen had phone for 4 mnths. is it likely to happen again. encountered this half an hour ago. am hoping its a one off!! i really love this phone.:o(

i have brought my N6110 four month ago, now is in the ward, i just wondering did anyone face the problem of the N6110 screen black out when the power saver is active, and when you need to re-active you mobile for use, and have to restart the mobile, and the more you use the phone, the problem come more frequent, and till the worse, the screen black out after start up from restart...

if u are a bussiness man then the phone will satisfy ur needs....the gps is just great and would help u a lot...the worldmate app will give u weather forcasts and world timings...and a plus is that its symbian S60 which make u get the best of this phone. the only bad thing for a man who travels a lot would be the battery which doesn't last so long...but u can always buy one more just incase:) 6110 Navigator 9/10

this fone is the best going around! i would know i work in a fone shop... no software probs and its tuff as nails. i dropped mine down a garage pit and it still works! hardly a scratch on it. thank you again nokia. it goes to show the guys from Finland know how to make a great fone!!!!

to Dr Dulay; u made me confused...i wanna buy a new phone and i was thinking to buy the 6110 navigator. i like its features especially the GPS.yes there is no WIFI but let say that i can live without it.but what confused me is the built quality....i dont like the phone to make creek noises when i write msgs.every review i read on the internet said that the built quality is good and the phone is solid...and know you are saying that it has gaps and it makes nises when u squeeze the case. so i cant really decide.... in adition to that there is the new E51 and its looks solid enough with WIFI and many features but missing GPS reciever. i think i will explod soon of so much thinking:(

the good: nice loks excellent gps speaker phone nice n loud nice outer slide butons good screen the bad: poor battery life, but this is to be expected whist using gps build quality-the phone rattles and squeeks and feels liek there r gaps int eh body. this is really irritatng when texting keyad is horrible and clicky only 2 meg camera but now im bein fussy no zenon flash heavy camera slide cover scratches easily route 66 software is mediocre, not as good as tom tom so im upgrading the nav software no wifi overal worth it esp if u travel alot!

(didn�t finish previous comment) so here it goes: I used it for only week and was very dissaponted with the phone (the cell it self) not the GPS function (very good). My opinion (underline "my") is that this cell is too much things in a single object, and the battery just cant handle it! and the back part of te case (allum plate) is just plain fragile (it got imediatly scratched and for no reason all in). No more new nokias, changed back to SE!

had it for about 1 week. then for no reason it just got damaged (I�m a very careful user)in the camera protection plate (alumm. in the back) (it seems like a beat up car)CHUIF! . Battery is no good for professional users! + - 1 day and dead (if you use GPS for more then 1 hour = no battery for calls (the real primary function of a cell!)! i offered it to my sister! and got a new (again)SE K800i! nothing better (great camera and phone with large battery life (the things I really use))! The more complicated cell phones become the worst they get! Nokia Symbian phones are becoming so complicated and full of Sw issues (i had the 6680/N70/E50/6610 and no more! i�m tired of problems. by the way: For download i use the PC, and for GPS I use a real GPS! and so I have no cell battery problems! no more all in one for me!

Well I got my Navigator through MTN a bit over a month ago. Back then I had to wait about two weeks for it to arrive, but i gotta tell you the wait was WELL worth it. It's by far the best phone I ever had. The only thing I would complain about is the irritating clicking noise during music playback. I would like to ask if the 'smart to go' maps really work on the Navigator. Free maps almost sound to good to me. Plus I thought only route 66 maps would work...

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT! no maps for US and Canada... I just got the phone yesterday and it is really great to use... it is definitly more beautiful than in the pictures... amazing camera and screen and speed... I just love it... the only thing for the North American fans will curse is there are no maps for US and Canada in the provided DVD... I have the Asian version... can anyone tell me that are there US/Canada maps with European version....?

I know that Vodafone stores in Australia have them now. I work in distribution in SE QLD, and we just sent over 200 units to Sunshine Coast stores. I'd say other states and stores should have them now also. ~Terry

@ MJ the 6110 already come with preloaded map for the country of purchase you don't need to pay even 1c At Aus there r 2 ways you can use gps 1: FREE, go to Setting-->phone setting -->General --> positioning--->positioning methods, only tick the Third option delay may happen! 2:FEE, tick 2 3 and 4, using gsm network to give u a better and quicker gps signal!

FSNZ, all you will need to pay for is the Route 66 map for your country if the map is not already unlocked. After that you don't have to pay anything else (unless you want more maps)

Hello, I have just ordered 6110 Nav but really concerened about working with the GPS in Canada. Do I have to pay for it or is it free 'cause I know that the maps of North America are not installed in the phone but are separate in the DVD. It's not 'creamy'. It's white. And looks like a plastic phone from the Chinese Shop. But... I kindda like it ;) At least it doesn't get soiled like the black one.

iv had this fone since 2 days after it came out... it is loud as hell it is crystal clear the pics are perfect the navigator gets me everywhere i need to go without a problem it has no faults it reads messages to me when i cant be stuffed reading all-in-all it a very well made phone... i hated nokia before but since i got this fone i still hate nokia but not this fone :)

We've heard in QLD that there is a Nationwide shortage due to a delay on a part for these handsets. The third party manufacturer in charge of making this part has failed to meet the deadline and hence, the delay on the construction. I'd say December is a pretty accurate time frame.

The phone is brilliant. Nokia maps are free from Download both for your phone and the loader for your pc. Select what maps you want from a worldwide selection (unless you're in New Zealand). You pay a licence fee - either annually or a short visitor fee. All works very well. Best to load all the maps you will use onto your phone micro SD card as it saves time and saves you downloading data via your phone service provider.

By looking at the pictures of the phone it seems like the top row of buttons is hard to use as the slider is in the way. Anyone have any comments to this? I hope the phone producers someday will make the slider go another 5mm up.

Is anyone using their 6110 in the US? Or does anyone know the cheapest way to make it usable in the US? (i.e: where to find good quality maps) I don't own the phone yet but I was JUST about to buy it when I read the post below about someone in California not being able to use it here. If the GPS Receiver won't help when your trying to navigate yourself around using the GPS Receiver alone, you can alway use the A-GPS Service that somehow goes handy when trying to search and connect to several other satelites. The problem here with us in the Philippines lies on the maps. were not that updated with the mapping and not all our roads have been digitally mapped yet. And so long as MMDA is around (and I ain't joking) it would be impossible to work on GPS since roads or alleys which used to be passable before are now blocked or ristricted from vehicles trying to pass thru them even if GPS will re-calculate and point to these routes

just got a new nokia 6110, amazing phone features for a small device, not as expensive as N95. but i'm having a hard time using the GPS device, as far as i know the GPS device is a "stand - alone" feature and its not network, - dependent. its getting the signal from the GPS satelleite and service is absolutely free. mine does not work when i tried using map for manila map, i wonder if it works on your. keep on getting this error " no positioning methods available" and "position unavailable" i've raised the issue to nokia people but i can't seem to get any sensible explanation; are there settings that i still need to configure on? i want to maximize its GPS features especially when getting around the city. i know this feature should work since a lot of GPS devices/ brands have already been sold here, ANY INFO? PLS HELP.

I just got my 6110 and tried to use the GPS in the US (California to be exact), but it does not have a map for US region. The phone asked to go to Route66 to purchase the US map which costs about $43 EU or equivalent of around $60 US. I then called Nokia US and tech said the phone was released in Singapore and the model 6110 is not intended for US release. Therefore, they don't have any info. about the GPS function in the US. Does anyone know if there is any "cheaper" US map out there for the US region? If I was to download US map from Route66 store on the phone, would the US map work? Anyone in the US uses this phone with GPS? Please shed your light.

The phone is available in south africa. I got mine on mycall 100 with mtn. There is lots of stock now,but when the phone first came out it was difficult to get a hold of. Its also available on vodacoms business call 120. Its a great phone. And gps is free. The phone even works without a sim card as a dedicated gps device.

Yes stardust, the sms reading works (and all the languages installed in the phone are supported), it's fun to hear the sms being read, but in my opinion is not very usefull option. I would find usefull the ability to listen the sms I receive when on foot from the headset without taking the mobile off the pocket, or just the sender, as it can me done with the phone calls.
