do a hard reset, just key in: *#7370#, then your phone will ask for your security code, if you have not change it, just key in 12345... afterwards, your phone will restart and you have your phone just like before you bought it..

Nokia is the best gsm mobile maker how ever they lack in many features on a single phone, pic quality is not good like sonyericsson, they need to make phone with better high speed processor & all major features in a single phone like radio,camera with 1.3 and above prefered above 2 mega pixel, bluetooth,screen colour 262k, memory slot with a capacity of 2 gb or more and internal memory of 128 mb,possible then touch screen,email,gprs,wap,and all major features found in communicator it should be called all in one phone it should not be in big size it should be flap phone & non flap phone as customer can have as per the requirment ,ake 1 phone with all fetures in it but should have in flap & non flap trust me nokia can be the only company which can do this but prise also matters need look in to it try not to use fancy colours try to have in black,gray,pink,gold colours only as per customer requirement at the end customer is the boss to decide

There is actually the 6265i out, its not on this site, but its the same phone, 2mp cam, camcorder, bluetooth, sd card, and mp3, its currently out with metroPCS, and its a good phone for the price.

I have owned a NOKIA 6280 before, but had to take it back in exchange for a NOKIA 6131. The 6280 would just black out, it did this three times, and the third time it took 3 days without switching on again. Could this NOKIA be better? And what are your plans about the NOKIA Dups supplied in Africa? How can i know a genuine Nokia?? Thanx

LISTEN UP EVERYONE!!!! We have just received the new rebate forms and the 6282 is no longer listed. This mobile even though cingular wireless did not carry it it was been in the last 2 revised rebate forms...well the new rebate forms start tomorrow and this phone is now missing... i seroiusly dought that they aren't giving a rebate for it i just think that we aren't going to carry it because of the 1900mhz only that nokia couldn't get around for some reason... we are adding the samsung zx20 (3g) rumors to be the first VIDEO CALLING..., samsung d807 slide up style (NOT 3G) but the LG CU500 IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is LG answer to the RAZR! is razr thin but packs 3G and 1.3 MP cam and a bunch more stuff! "Push to talk" works like a radio or one way communicator where you have to push the button before you talk, vice-versa with the response to whom you are talking to but he/she should have a phone with the same feature. This kind of service is offered by mobile service provider capable to use their network like radio frequency. Hence, if the mobile service provider did not offer this you wont be able to use this. Well of course, if this would be available it comes with additional/separate charge.

Yep i absolutely do.... they were aiming at OUR CHEAP MARKET! People don't buy expensive phones.....we sell 95% of our phone which are under $150 so a phone with a 2mp cam and all those other features would not sell good...remember the 7610? well guess what the phone got discontinued in a couple of months after release cause it was too expensive and people didn't want it! Also the second cam was removied cause we dont' yet support 2 way video calling... there for is useless and by taking it out then the price of the unit it self would be reduce.... bottom line the mayority of the US customers don't see "THE POINT" as they always say in spending that much money...Also note this OUR phones are more expensive then the rest of the world cause look at our plans...and look at plans from vodaphone and O2 and so on very very little airtime compare to the USA rateplans....so they always get you wether is on the phone or plan...so do you want alot of minutes to use your phone or a phone that is off the chain but your bill will be almost a car payment...the mayority has spoken and the decition is CHEAP PHONES AND MORE MINUTES...also keep this in mind... When you walk in the door to any carrier in the usa and you look at the damn stupid map if it isn't completely covered then the idiot customer goes well happens when i go here "poiting at freaking HICKS VILLE USA where no one lives anyways" so we spend millions and millions of dollars to cover areas that are pointless in case you ever go there JUST to stay in business and have those idiots sign up... compare the size of the usa and any other country other then china and you'll see that we spend ALOT more money in the network then any other country IN FLORIDA alone this year Cingular is spening 365 million dollars and that's just to launch 3g and do maintanance work this is 1 fu@#$ state out of 50 people! thats the FREAKING TRUTH of the matter....

oh yeah and by the way the coverage check for CINGY lets you search by "landmarks" "airports" "institutions" "parks" "recreation areas" "transportation hubs" "Intersections" and it lets you see the upcoming ATT OVERLAY which is being finalized before the year is over... so not only can you see what's avaibale now bt what will be available... i'v used the tmobile search engine and mmm sorry to say that it doesnt' really work that well try entering "Nevada" and "montana" "seattle" and the list goes on, these aren't places in HICK"S VILLE USA this are major cities and coverage is very minimal with mr "T"...it was best said by the guy a couple of comments back all these companies have their strong points you can't bash any of the really or call them names cause they all work in certain places where the other's don't.... but we could always compare couln't we ;)

Ok "tmobile fan" guy here it goes that is where you go to check your coverage area with cingular... it gives you even the STATUS of the TOWER that are in the area so if there is any outages you will now...also it lets you track any store, payment center, and service center anywhere in the USA. Also cingular gives you a 3 day No install period meaning if you cancel withine that timeframe they dont' charge you for the activation fee or airtime usage...ALL THE OTHER CARRIES DO CHARGE YOU FROM DAY 1 or if you use more then 75 minutes of airtime also Cingualr gives you 30 full days to try the service. and oh yeah the ALL IMPORTANT QUESTION.... cingular overlaps over TMOBILE's coverage and THEN SOME so.....just cause they are owned by JEWS you dont' like em? mmmm it all makes sence.... you like the german company and hate jews mmmmmmmmmmm.........interesting....

But at least T-Mobile is the only carrier that starting about a year ago, will give you an honest coverage check ( slef coverage check with the nearest as the intersection where you live) Ones you type the intersection, if the service sucks there, T-Mobile will show the lightest color (equal to c- or d) NO OTHER CARRIER DOES IT! Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, they all will sho you a great coverage everywhere! SIMPLY AMAZING!

Um, no offense, but T-mobile isn't great everywhere. And it IS still about the coverage in alot of areas. GSM in my area is almost non-existent. I actually have to drive almost an hour from my house to even get a GSM signal of any kind. It all depends on where you are, and where the different companies have licensing. I have Verizon and it works for me. I'm very excited about this phone coming out. Hopefully, VZW will start selling it.

Yes, in 2004 Cingular became very corrupted (Thanks to sh..ty AT&T). HOWEVER HERE ARE SOME CORRECTIONS: 1)Till 2005 Cingular was Owned 60% by SBC and Only 40% by BELLSOUTH. It is thanks to SBC not to BELLSOUTH, that Cingular was a great carrier (almost like T-Mobile). 2)NO MORE AT&T BROTHER!!!!!! In the beginning of 2005 SBC made a smart decision to acquire first brother- AT&T for $16 Billion and rebrand it as NEW AT&T! SBC has dropped its name too (because people are more familiar with AT&T name than with SBC name). Now you see, that Cingular's new 60% AT&T ownership is basically the same SBC (just new name). 3)NO MORE BELLSOUTH BROTHER! 2006, The greatest decision by NEW AT&T is to acquire second brother- BELLSOUTH!!!! TO MLKIDS: Next time you are inside elevator and still have reception means that that the cell phone tower is within two blocks from the building! (And it could be any carrier: Verizon, T-Mobile, Cingular or Sprint) IT'S NOT BECAUSE OF 850 FREQUENCY (Do your research, before throughing misleading statements). However CDMA Cignal is by 5% stronger within infrastracture than GSM (not a significant difference though to choose Scaming Verizon or Sprint with their horrible CDMA sound quality and high power consumption of the batterry life on any phone).

T-Mobile is starting to make all their phones come equipped with 850 mhz. It's not just for rural areas, in fact it's more beneficial in downtown areas where 1900 mhz has a heck of a time trying to get reception when it's blocked by buildings etc. Next time you go in to an elevator and you still have coverage, guess what, you're using 850 mhz.

What cingular-rep is stating about the 850mhz frequency and postpaid versus prepaid service areas are true. T-Mobile has announced that it is expanding its coverage map to include 850mhz frequency it is leasing from Cingular and other rural carriers. This is a good move for T-Mobile and Cingular and both will benefit from this. And this isn't only for rural areas along Canada, this is so they can provide better coverage over the entire US. This phone is not intended to be a top tier phone for those that are complaining about its features. This phone is in direct competition with the LG CU320, which I had the honor to play with today. This will be the first UMTS handset available on the Cingular network. Using the 850 and 1900 WCDMA frequency is important for Cingular to stay competitive in urban as well as rural areas. If you look you will find that Cingular only offers one coverage map for all its features on their postpaid services. And as stated before, prepaid Cingular services unfortunately have a much smaller coverage area but this is not true for the Pick Your Plan prepaid service.

JUST FYI prepaid does not have the same coverage map as postpaid. Prepaid has the bare minimum coverage by us... Meaning any roamig aggrements and new ATT coverage is not compatible with the prepaid plans. If you pick up a prepaid brochure you will see that prepaid is about 50% of our real coverage... And sorry you feel so strongly about it but hey... i think all companies will help their customer if they have issues...but since we are the largest of course we are going to have the biggest number of complain DUH! ALSO, T-Mobile coverage is 90% the same as of Cingular, for I happened Cingular prepaid service as well. NO matter where I go, the cignal is one in one the same. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE COVERAGE TODAY, it's about costumer service, billing policy and call quality! UNFORTUNETALEY ATT/CINGULAR along with VERIZON have been rated the most SCAMEST companies. 6265 looks awesome Ok I have a 6270 and have had nothing but problems with it 1 week after I bought it its an over seas phone I live in San Diego, ca. the phone would always restart on me and now wont even start up. So I'm going to have to send it back to Nokia over seas dont know how long that will take. But the phone was awesome when it worked. And yes I have heard of the 6265 and I am really thinking about getting that one instead of the 6270 it looks better and is smaller. I have researched phone for many many months america gets all the left over crap if we even get it. Europe gets all the good stuff thats why americans buy over seas phones

WELL GUYS BAD NEWS! the FCC finally approved this phone and the N80 to be sold in the USA but Cingular SAID "HELL NO" and send them back... Nokia failed to provide cingular with both 850/1900 UMTS bands on those models, they only provided the 1900mhz which cingular make quite clear it wasn't going to buy any phones which only handled one band. So nokia is going back and twiking the model to provide the enhansements. Most likely the model number will change also. So is going to take longer then we expected to see this phone in the stores!

T-Mobile will always stay the same.. Due to the lack of power in the US! The only way T-Mobile would be big in the US if it merge with a big company like Sprint or Verizon.. Well I don't think It would merge with Verizon because Vodafone owns Verizon Wireless, and Sprint just recently merge with Nextel.. So T-Mobile is T-Mobile ain't goin down and ain't goin up either. T-Mobile was given a chance to bid on AT&T wireless.. They blew it! They lose to Cingular! That is why you see a slow phase on T-Mobile Development.. Besides T-Mobile is one of the biggest company in the GSM world.. T-Mobile is BIG in europe!!

This is for cingular_rep Wow... never even knew that. All I know is that 3G technology uses 2 bands.. The Uplink and the downlink.. I guess they will use 1900 as their uplink and 850 as their downlink.. or maybe the other way around. Im just upset with Cingular!! They are selfish.. Im sorry to say that but I have my reasons.. Cingular only wants you to buy phones from them.. They don't want people buying phones that are made for the european market. No wonder they use different frequency here in the US to be separated from the world.. I have a 6680.. now I wouldn't be able to use my 3G technology because my phone only have 2100Mhz UMTS.. That's not cool!! Ever heard about the rumor about the N80?? Cingular was interested in getting the N80, until they found out it has WiFi.. Which means they would loose money in urban areas.. and have you ever heard of skype free calls.. that too.. so Cingular had decided to banned the phone until they get rid off the WiFi tech!! Guys I just checked Tmobile's website and EVERY SINGLE PHONE NOW SUPPORTS 850MHZ. They pretty much dropped the 900mhz which is useless in the USA and very weak as a band anyways. 850mhz is here to stay! sorry! lol

yep you are absolutely right we are going to be using 1900mhz and 850mhz. We are probably going to favor the 850 side of it cause like it said before the signal goes farther so we can put up less towers. And actually CINGULAR "WAS" the only carrier in the U.S. that use the 850mhz but Tmobile has recently started to buy some 850 spectrum. If you notice most of their new phones support this new band....850 is mostly use in the USA with a few exeption in latin america. 850 is more cost effective specially if that country is as big as USA and has alot of RURAL states as we do. Recently cingular told NOKIA that we will only buy phones if they have BOTH the 3G 850/1900mhzif they only had the 3G 1900mhz band then we wouldn't bother with that model NO EXPETIONS which strengthens my theory of our commitment to the 850mhz band...

this seems to be a good phone. i have rant on US gsm and 3g frequencies though. I live here in the US and my dad works for Nokia networks here, he says that the US is totally bullshit when it comes to cellphone technology. I hate having different frequencies on phones. Hi guy, first of all there is a reason why we are launching 850mhz 3g in the usa and why we use mostly 850gsm. This band travels longer and penetrates buildings alot better then 900mhs and 1900mhz. So specially in the country is a must to have. Another reason is because we can put up less towers and cover more area thus being cost effective and focusing our money in releasing a more reliable network. Think of this when you fall of the Sprint/verizon EVDO network you fall on 1xt or something like that which is a really slow 1st generation data standard. When you fall of our 3g UMTS/hsdpa network you fall onto our NATION WIDE EDGE network which is between dialup and dsl speeds so when we do things we do it right... give us about 5 more months and we will have 3g nation wide will the other carriers are still putting up "HOTSPOTS" and about Tmobile they aren't even finished with edge yet so don't even think about 3g for another 2-3 years.... call them and ask them... they will tell you that straight up.... always a pleasure...peace

This is for Ru.. Europe and Asia has 2100Mhz UMTS frequency, So all phones decided to only put 2100Mhz on their phones. which all nokia 3G phones have.. US is totally new to 3G technology. Because of selfishness they decided to go for another frequency which no country have. The 1900Mhz UMTS frequency. They are selfish that they don't want americans to be buying phones in europe to use in american soil. They said it will hurt the american market.. So in order for company to keep up in their business in america.. They launch this 1st Nokia 3G phone.. to compete here. That's really selfish right? don't you guys think? So beware Nokia 3G phones right now will not work in america 6280, N70, N90, 6680 etc.. will not work in the US. only this 6282 but its not out yet.. so i guess we have to wait!

Hey ppl, sorry to tell yah, but i do believe that this phone is a sub version of teh 6280 which has much better specs than this. It has a 2MP camera and a vga camer on the front for video conferencing. It also has 3G. And i cud be wrong but i thought 3G worked wherever there is a network supporting it. I didnt know there was a diff between 3G UK and 3G USA.

The 3G capabilities for this phone is only for the US market.. it has a 3G technology that no country in the world has or uses.. The 3G capabilities on this phone is running on the 1900MhZ 3G UMTS.. But Countries around the world only uses 2100MhZ and there is no phones out there right now that has dual mode UMTS capabilities yet.. I wish they will have do.. i really like Nokia phones that are made for the Europe and Asian market.

Believe me, once you see the screen resolution on this bad boy you will be blown away. You can't knock the phone, just the carrier. But Americans are cheap, so cingular took out the flash and lower the mega pixels to reduce cost.....its an awesome phone.

Why is almost everyone insulting this phone? come on, I mean I know that they downgraded the camera from a 2mp to a 1mp, which is kind of stupid, but it does make some sense. Cingular wants the 6282 to be the mid-range phone with some nice extras, they want the N80 to be the high-end amazing phone with the extrememly high-resolution screen and 3mp camera (which would be a first in the Americas). Why is everyone saying it has a poor feature set? Does everyone hear hate the Nokia 6230 or the 6230i? it essentially has the same exact features, except this phone has a better screen, better video capabilities (VGA instead of QCIF) and an easier to find expandable memory type (miniSD) and a hot-swappable memory slot. This is a 3g phone designed exclusively for the Americas, which Nokia has never done before, and yes it is lacking the Video Call feature but that isn't popular in The Americas yet. So if you hate this phone so much, don't even bother with it. consider the other 3 slider phones that WERE intended for Europe and every other country, the 6280 (3g),6270(no 3g, quadband), and 6211/6212(no 3g). Summing it up, The Americas get good phones later than the rest of the world, and sometimes don't get them at all, but we just have to deal with that. As far as American phones go, this is pretty nice.

1 megapixel camera is good enough for me.. however the QCIF video is always crappy on Nokias and SE phones too. I hope the N80 has decent video capture and playback otherwise I'll get a Samsung next.

@mike Yes there can be 1900 twice, because Cingular's 3G network uses 1900 (and 850 later on) for their UMTS network, unlike the rest of the world that uses 2100.

To Mike: I agree with you that this UMTS Nokia phone does not have a video call. But as you might have noticed and many people already know one simple fact: For United states we always get the lowest functional phones. And there is no difference here, whether it's Nokia brand or Samsung or Sony. As long as it is for United States, it got to be the lowest model! We first have to wait from six months to one years before we get european models! It's a shame but reality! We have to deal with it!

I just noticed, it doesn't even have a "Video Call". I hope it will not be over priced since there are no Fake Video Call. Yes, Video Call on today's UMTS is just a gimmik to grab more $$$ from comercially brain-washed childish kids (Video Call quality is horrible and no better than on typical computer camera). First of all there is a mistake. Nokia 6282 is UMTS 850/1800/1900 (there can't be 1900 two times). Secondly with all my love to durable and simple Nokia phones , I don't understand why this phone does not have 900 frequency? This is not a trully international phone. I'd rather stick to simple and durable Nokias without UMTS or whatever else B.S. At least 6170 and 6101 are real international phones (and the hell with Cingular/ATT crappy 850 frequency). I use the best, which is T-Mobile and all normal Tri-Band phones match to T-Mobile perfectly! (1900 that's it!) So, my dear Cingular friends, Nokia 6282 is for you. That is what you deserve for sticking with that Carrier!

There is nothing special about Nokia 6282 neither about any other so-called Megapixel phone. FIVE REASONS NOT TO BUY phone with resolution of 1mp, 2mp or even 3mp (unless 3mp has an optical zoom and shutter speed control) 1)-those phones are well over-piced because of that fake camera gimmic advertisement 2)-You won't be able to print decent 4x6 photos from those phones (not even from Sharp 903!!!! Sharp 903 doesn't have real flash and no sutter speed control, that's why unless you take photos on bright daylight, you will get tone of noice in printed 4x6 photos). 3)-The batterry capacity between 800mhz and 1500mhz on those phones will drain your talk time if you take 10-20 photos a day! 4)Neither Nokia nor Motorola or LG and not even Samsung can manufacture decent digital cameras yet! 5)For the price of $400-$800 you can buy the best regular Nokia phone (with no camera or with add on VGA joke) + the best 3mp-7mp digital camera ( best cameras today are: Nikon 7900 with 7mp, Canon S80 with 8mp and Panasonic's FX9 and LX1 (6mp/8mp) Be mature, smart and don't be fooled by comercial megapixel gimmics!

NOKIA are getting owned again and again, they launched series 60 all symbian models only to make a step back(6233), as the didnt really offered nothing more than problems(bugs,Viruses,complicated aplications that never worked)to save some reability, the few clamcell attempts failed as they become oversized(N90) and now they are using pop ups (like 6280) ignoring (again) the fact that people preffere clamcells, they entered the mp war with "quality" and expensive Carl Zeis lenses but the "cheap" K750 owned them and so they abonded the Carl Zeis expensive lenses in a try to be competitive(N80). What are they going to proove with this one megapixel phone? NOKIA is going down...

maybe the ccd chip producer can�t produce so fast and they have to thake the 1mp cam?! the 6280, 6280, n90, n91, n70 and so on have an 2 mp cam. each cam 1 ccd-chip. how many million phones are produced??? and when theres only one producer and SE is supplyed too (i just say D-600) Think bout it... ;-)

Apparently this phone will be offered by Cingular in the US. They downgraded the camera from 2 megapixels to 1 becuase they don't want it to compete with the N80 which will be offered by Cingular as well. I have to say, that is completely stupid. N80 has a 3 megapixel camera, and is a totally different phone for a totally different buyer! I'm just annoyed because I'll probably have to buy this phone when I really want the 6270. Be happy you guys get good phones while in the U.S. we get complete crap!

All I can say is, given this phone is the same as the 6280 except for the swapped 850 for 900 and 1900 for 2100, why in the H*ll did they not leave the camera 2mp? That's just ridiculous. And for the wanna be MBAs, Samsung has released 2mp phones for Sprint so that nonsense about different targets prices is bs. This phone will cost just as much as the 6280 though it has only half the camera.
