It's awesome, although it doesn't have touchscreen. But it has it all - 3G, flash and autofocus, bright screen and crystal picture, Opera mini, Maps.. The only thing I don't like about this phone is lack of GPS. it's so sad, it would've been complete with GPS.

Overall the phone is great. I almost have it for 2yrs and im about to get a new one in 2 months. I love the camera, themes, color, and i like to double tap it. If only i delete messages and old photos this phone would've last longer for me. Everytime i try to delete messages it will freeze at some point, which sucks so bad. I had over 20k msgs and over 200 photos in it. Thanks god i delete those photos. Lesson Learned!

I've been using it since October 2008 and am quite happy with it. Pro: Nice design, it's very small, easy to handle (no problem opening the slide with one hand), sturdy (fell down twice, no damage apart from little scratches) and it's been reliable with minor problems. Contra: Battery-lifetime is limited (2-3 days with normal usage, but a lot less with longer calls), sound is poor (don't place it with the back on a table, you'll hardly hear anything, like the alarm clock) and it gets quite slow on the startup when you've got 2000+ messages in your folders. I can recommend it but wouldn't call it the best phone I've ever had.

I have 6600 Nokia. The size of this phone is so short that it cannot be opened by one hand, because if you try to do this, it slips away and tends to fall. The other specifications are good. It is nice but its signal strength is weak. The battery gets exhuasted too early. On the whole the phone is good for ladies who can have this in their hand bags.

when i accidentally forgot to turn off the camera, the phone got so hot and there is a build up of dark pixels that spreading through the screen. when im palcing the phone in a very cold place, those pixels are minimizing...and when hot. it is spreading again..

Hi, this phone is not as bad as you think, 4 me it was perfect. For those who complain about poor signal and battery power i can tell you to please check your network provider if it was 3G cos if you set this phone to 3g and your network is not, then ur signal will be poor and battery drains quickly. So switch to GSM 1900 or to the other.

Nice looking phone, never hear it ringing, battery dies really quickly, dropped it once not even from a height and had to replace screen. Hard to text one handed. Cuts out when making calls and poor reception. Now it died on me and I've been informed the main PCB needs replacing but it is uneconomical to repair. It is 2 months out of Warranty. Stay away from this phone if you want one that lasts.

Not a good phone at all!!! fully charged this phone last night and i woke up to the phone burning my arm and the battery dead!!! I have problems with service (at first I thought it was the service provider as they are upgrading their network at the moment). I have had nothing but problems with this phone since i got it (i've only had it for 2months). Phone likes to turn off whenever it wants, phone often freezes, speaker is really quiet, service is CRAP! I strongly suggest to stay away from this phone

This phone is terrible. The OS etc is fine, but it has a fundamental design/manufacture issue, in that it heats up way too much, and drains the entire battery in 12 hours. I've just had one replaced on warranty for this issue, and the new one is doing the exact same thing. It's a shame, it'd be a great phone if it actually held charge.

Used it for 1 year, have the same problem with my colleague who is also using same model. It will black off itself and restart. Always hang when browsing photo. Restart by open the battery, all selection of mode become 1 step slower. Ringing tones/incoming call not strong enough coz the sound come out from small hole behind. If put on the table, soften the sound somemore... Other than that, is quite a good phone, small size, light and easy to carry. Will Nokia 6260 better than this?

..the only thing i'd noticed with this fone is that, it heats very fast when you make a call... maybe because it has a metal back cover..but it's no problem..the battery lasts for 3-5 days...(for a better fone, buy directly at nokia stores)

I've beat the S@#t outta this phone (accidentally of course), it's indestructable. Had mine for a year now. Bought it unlocked to 3G and it's worked like a charm. Yeah, it's small, yeah, it's no iphone, but I want small, and I don't want an iphone. So it's perfect. Battery life is great on standby, talktime sets it back a little, still good batt. life. All-in-all, i'd recommend this phone from the Nokia line for sure, if it's a Nokia you're looking for.

i bought this fone in may 2009 and was very excited about it and really pleased with it UNTIL: my display began to fade.. luckily the problem occurred within 14 days from when i bought it so i was able to swap it for a brand new one... BUT unfortunately my display began to fade again slightly, but this was over 14 days after i had it replaced so it had to be sent to an approved repair centre for repair under the manufacturer's warranty... when the fone came back from "repair" (2 weeks later), the guy in the shop switched it on for me to check it, and the display was even worse than before!!! so he immediately booked it in for another repair and i had to wait another 2 weeks.. so i went back to the store 2 weeks later to collect my phone and it was fixed!!! BUT later on the same day, surprise surprise, the display began to fade again... so i sent it off for repair AGAIN and it came back fine, But then had the same problem AGAIN, this time to the point where i had no display at all, so it went for repair YET AGAIN.. (bear in mind i paid £140 for this fone and hav only had around 2 weeks worth of use from it, in a total of 3 months!!) This time they told me that if it couldnt be repaired this time around then they would replace he handset for me with a new one.. indeed they did replace the handset for me with a brand new one but it was 2 MONTHS & NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS LATER!!!! OVERALL DISAPPOINTMENT...

The sms are saved in the memory and i am unable to remove them at once. Msgs can only be deleted one by one other wise the phone stucks. More than 3000 msgs are collected in my inbox. Can any one tell how to remove them in one go ? The ring tone is very low even with the high volume. Still the phone loooks good. Bingo... lol

this phone is great, i like it. there are just few negative things about it... it has weak vibrations, the flash doesn`t work while recording video, it plays mp4 pretty slow, while you are in video call longer than 6-7 minutes, the phone starts to warm up, and it is s40 based phone...it would be much better if it was s60, and you can`t listen radio on Loudspeaker. although, it`s great. camera is great,the flash also, i use it with 4GB MicroSD, there is support for a lot of java games, and software, it has Nokia Maps which supports connection to a GPS device, the slider is great, the internet is fast, it has great reception, and a lot of other great things...

i have bought this phone and using it almost for 5months. the phone is handy but feels like it will lose the grip. so have to be careful. battery is good as well as the key pad. the picture quality is also good.u can charge the phone with the usb cable too. the headset is also in a good quality . but you cant mute the camera sounds in any condition. And ringing tone cant be heard when the phone is kept the face up.i have missed many calls due to this.and sometimes miss alarm and alerts too

I think this phone is the best..very handy. The appearance of it is very sophisticated and stylish. To prevent the fingerprint magnet,, i bought a transparent housing protector for the back of my phone...you can also buy a screen protector for the front ...it will really help reduce and prevent your phone from scratches and dirt..Moreover, the battery is great!!you can charge it just for an hour and by then you can use it all day long!!love it..!!

the map function is good. the sound volume from the earpiece is a little low. the keys are small and too low on the bottom slider - the lower slide should have come down further to allow larger keys for better grip whilst texting. Nice pocket size, good features, a bit heavy.

i have this one also, and yes it is normal that when you slide up the front part of the phone is a bit woobly, but i had a dozen of nokia sliders so far and i think that this one has the highest build quality, and for this price range nokia does not provide that 0.2 mm precision wich makes the difference between 6600 and 8800

I hate this phone. I got this as a birthday gift and within the first call i noticed its flaws. Its been 3 months now and all i can say is 1. It doesnt pick up signals as well as my old sony k750i. Call clarity is seriously compromised. 2. The speaker at the back is not good enough. I miss all the calls because I cant hear the phone ring. Miss the alarm in the morning also :( 3. Camera is a total let down 4. Everytime i use loudspeaker, i have to restart the phone to use the normal speakers. 5. phone gets really hot after long usage. 6. The back pane is a fingerprint magnet. Hard to keep up the shiny look. 7. No back button, or C button like my old k750i. Have to go through long menu options to delete one message. 8. Battery is pathetic. The quality of your mp4s will be too high, your phone can't decode it fast enough to play smoothly. You need an mp4 converter on your pc to change the resolution of the videos from 320x240 to 176x120. It happened on my 3120c as well

just update my n6600s firmware from 4.13 to 6.14..it seems that the older firmware is better.with latest firmware,the transition effect is gone even though i switch it on.notification detail is less accurate,since only the date stated on message received,compare to at what time we got the message with old firmware.overall performance of my phone become slower than before.the only positive thing that they add with latest software is my nokia and share on ovi software on application.i'm really regret about it.any solution to restore my hp to make it just like before??thanx

Actually the steel backing is very classy, it is very scratch proof. The plastic front however, gets scratched easily. I had this phone for about 5-6 months now. The front part of the phone seems to be scratchless for the first 4 months, after that, you start to notice scratches pop up all of a sudden. The scratches come from the faux leather case the phone comes with because the case gets worn and dirty over time.

i got Nokia 6600 slide the time it was out in the market. paid a bomb of 15,000rs,(NOT WORTH) not bothered about the other features i fell for its looks...and i REGRET. the look is awesome. but there is no sound quality, very delicate, does match the at par picture quality. i feel nokia should just stop distribution of these phones in the market as this will spoil their brand image. this is one of the worse (or the only) model of nokia.

This fone is the worst fone. The text is so small in sms's u can't read it. The outdoor profile is so quiet u can't hear it even when the radio isn't on. The alarm clock is so quiet it's a good fone for those who say I slept through the alarm. For the money I paid I feel I downgraded not upgraded.

I quite agree with your comments about the Nokia 6600 slide phone. I received this phone from O2 yesterday as an upgrade and I now can't get any reception at my my house even though I could get a signal with my previous nokia phone from 02.It is also quite difficult to open the back of the phone and the screen does get very smeary. Luckily I'm still within the 14 day return date so I'm sending it straight back.

I bought this phone from 'Clownphonewh' earlier this week. I am selling my Omnia as it has started doing my head in. Have an iPod Touch and that makes the Omnia's UI feel inferior in every way. I have had alot of experience with mobiles so the fact that th 6600 isn't a 'smart phone' made no difference to me. I just wanted a well made, simple and small phone so I opted for the 6600 slide. Well.....I actually like it at the moment. Yes the backlight goes off quickly and the ring volume is a bit low but these things don't bother me. I use 'silent' alot. The buttons can be used by the big handed And the camera actually makes a beter fist of taking a photo that the Omnia in my experience. Just a couple of concerns though: 1) I tried four 6600's in the shop and only one of them had a slide that didn't wobble or 'see-saw'. That's the one I bought....but how long will mine stay acceptable? wonder if it will start to spoon around just after the 14 day exchange period?! 2)I have had a couple of lock up's as described below by another user. They occured upon restarting the phone after switching off. Only the off button would work. However, It occured to me that the phone might be up to something especially as it told me that it was not ready to display my contacts. Hence I copied the contacts from my sim to my phone and the problem has gone away....at the moment. Incidently, what surprises me the most is that I am posting serrious feedback on this site as usually I just take the p*** or regard the comments made by others as rather unhelpful. Still GSMArena is a great source of information and I thought I would try and say something positive. The 6600, like most Nokias has issues in some way or another. Just depends whether you can put up with the issues and accept the compensation of the super little form factor of the 6600. I wouldn't say the phone is gender specific and if it is....who cares if you like it. Reliability will also be a mixed bag I guess. Some will have loads of issues and some lucky customers will get away with it. Check out the customer reviews on the net before you buy. Alot of problems with screen failure. There you go, Fingers crossed!

hi, actually there is the volume control when you pick up... it's the navigation button (middle button). when you answer a call, press up to turn up the volume and down to reduce the volume. hope this helps :)

guess, you are talking about an other phone not the Nokia 6600 slide - maybe a Chinese brand??, found camera ok and everything works well and the quality of the phone itsself is much better and more solid than most mobiles in that price range.

i bought this unit last december '08. we'll unit went well, its slick design really did the trick. but recently i just experienced something with the phone, suddenly there is no response on its menu button, its call. only the on-off button is functioning and the key pad. already did restart the unit a couple of times but still the same result. does anyone had this kind of experienced? wat did u do?

Did you know that Nokia is not a Chinese company? Also in reply to everyone else the Headphone quality is superb, the phone does has bluetooth, it doesn't come in pink as far as i am aware. other than that it's a really good phone :)

I have had this phone for two months and bought it on an o2 PAYG it has caused nothing but grief as there is no volume bar the reception is consistently poor and it never goes over 2 bars. the screen and cover is always smeary and dirty. this is not a very nice phone and i am being forced to buy a new one. My comment overall the phone looks good,nice grip and nice pouch. BUT the battery cannot last for even one day, i need to bring the charges along with me. The camera are poor and the speaker phone are poor. Handfree are hard to find. The keypad also didn't light up at dark environment, only lights up at bright environment. I can say its a nice phone, looks really nice and beautiful, the camera is superb, the sound using the mp3 is ok, but the loudspeaker is not that powerful, internet speed using 3g are up to standard, the radio is. So i bought a 2gb memory card.its ok.Make sure you format it first(card) before using it, otherwise it might make the phone slow and hang, The camera is crisp clear. Overall i give it 8.9/10 Both the China and Hungary/Finland versions are the same quality(dont be cheaten) furthermore the China version is cheaper at the same quality coz of cheap labour in china, so as long as its the original not the Nokla clone. Not at all, I haven't found anything in the phone specifically for women or men. It's more a business phone than anything. Of course it's nothing compared to Nokia's N Series or Windows Mobile phones but it has full access to all sorts of e-mail accounts and different types of converters.

First of all I would like to comment on the Camera, if you read the online review on here they will tell you that the camera quality is below par, I don't know if that's because they only tested a beta handset. Either way for a 3.2MP camera it's great! I've taken pictures in the dark and they have mainly come out good, a few bad ones (but that can be expected, whit the fact that it's a phone not a compact camera). The pictures I have taken in sunlight/natural light have come out just fine, they are nice and sharp and show colour well. The phone does run on S40 which I don't have a problem with, theirs lots of neat features within applications that i've never seen before (probably because this is only my second Nokia handset) for example adding videos or photo's to text messages is made much easier because they have added a bar at the bottom of the text that allows easy access to your files. The Nokia Maps application is fantastic and is actually really quite quick. Along with Nokia Maps there is an application called 'widsets' which allows you to add items to the application so you can keep up-to-date with a number websites for example: Ebay, Push email, Facebook and so on. I do find that the phone lags a little bit, but this can only be expected with mobile phones that have an actual opperating system. But you soon get used to this and I tend to not find it a problem. I am a big fan of listening to my music on-the-go and to be honest the music and radio player are more than up to task, the rendtion of sounds is really good and to be honest I can't tell the difference between my Creative and the 6600 appart from a few bass notes that are produced differently here and there. The actual working of the phone is nice and you find yourself sliding the phone up and down repeatedly, a feature I like is the 'double tap to mute' and show time. It doesn't make using the phone any easier, it just makes the experience of using the phone 'nicer'. The screen is fantastic and produces colours really well. The design of the phone is actually much nicer that the pictures portray. Overall? 8.5/10

I finally decided in getting 6600 slider against all bad reviews. I had mine for only a week and Im completely satisfied with it, to all first time user, read the manual carefully to appreciate the phone. Its a conversational piece because of its cool styling, i recommend BUY, you wont regret it.

Well there are a few features which could be modified or added: There should be a possibility of multiple alarm. One would like to have different times to wake up on week days and weekend, and so that he doesn't have to set that every week and weekend. Removing back cover is not an easy job. i wonder while they have relatively easier mechanism for some other phones, why Nokia can't stick to that. This could be a problem for people who have to change memory card or sim frequently. I admit, if I really need to be connected through WLAN, I ought to move to some other mobile, but still wish it could be built-in on this mobile.

I am using this mobile (Made in Hungary) for quite sometime now and still not able to explore its full features. Well, I think the primary purpose of buying the phone is to make calls and secondary purposes are to pass some time while you are traveling (not at home or at a place where you are staying for a longer time where you ought to have time and space to bring the dedicated things for secondary features in a phone like camera, games and similar stuff). I think 3.2 Mega Pixel camera is quite good, the games are quite addictive to pass time while traveling for hours. I spent my 3 hours train journey, playing on the mobile and yet I had to charge it the following day. So there is no difference between the claimed battery life and the actual one. If you are ready to spend this much money into a mobile, this is the best and right choice.

Though I already have some ideas of the product I'm also encountering some flaws on it's functions: 1. It's backlight keeps on flashing hi and low right after opening.Don't know it's remedy. 2. Battery life does not meet it's specifications. Talk time is only two hours maximum without using video call. 3. Using it's video call makes the unit hot,thus affecting the performance of the unit and it's battery usage will be shorten by about 50%.

Just got the 6600 slide, luv the design and very small, but I have a Question? Did anyone have a hard time just trying to get the back cover off. I must of pressed the release button so many times, but no success in removing the cover. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Denis, I used to have Nokia 3100 it's almost 6 years old by now, my mom's using it, and it's still in great condition , I really didn't have any problems . But last March I bought Nokia 3500 , and last the phone started to turn off on it's own. I dont know what to do because the shop where I bought it is closed...

6600 is awesome and I hardly anyone can deny on it. At the same time, it's very very poor on reception, battery life. Nokia shifting the production unit from Finland to China for economic reasons are fine but not at the cost of inconvenience to the customers. I will not hesitate to tell people about the poor quality of mobiles you are after producing. Just two weeks back I bought 5800 and it's in workshop since a week. Why are we made to pay this? What is the problem with Nokia?? I mean why the hell are they putting blue accents on their new phones these days? It just looks bloody cheap!! hi there . . 6600 s has the same functions as 7610 supernova except is has a classier finish and looks more upper class. it is also a tad more expensive. If u see a phone as a short term replacement item then get 7610s cos it is cheaper and wont last as long. . but 6600s lasts longer in terms of outer case. .and also is a bit heavier. . it is even laggier when viewing pictures. .

You need to focus the object using the AUTO FOCUS mechanism this will make the images sharp....

My N95 keypad doesnt light sometimes, this is due to the light sensor, why does your keypad need to light up if its already light enough to see it, will that not be the reason it sometimes doesnt light up on the 6600??

Ive had this phone for about three weeks now and yesterday something very weird happened. The screen was flashing in and out so I turned it off then back on again to see if it would fix that. However when I turned it back on, all the screen's colors were wrong. Instead of the normal theme, the colors are pink, green, purple and red and you can't really see what the screen says. I can still make calls and texts but anything that involves the screen is very hard to do and things like the camera are now useless. I was really impressed with this phone up until now. Hopefully this can get fixed because it is a great phone.

Hope it can hlpe you: If yor keypad doesn't light up, you may go to the camera mode and then quit. Then the keypad light will return to normal. Or you may cover the brightness sensor at the top right corner with your thumb for about 10 sec, the keypad light will come back.

Got mob from o2 uk on friday. Charged fully. Started setting up friday evening, within 2 mins the mob restarted its self, my phone contacts half were deleted, the other half were not in alphabet order, turned it self of yesturday & would not come back on for 1 hr then came on fine. Its been drop several time, once drop from my motobike ride. hey julie. texting will take a little getting used to as the keys are a little narrow, and there isn't much to hold on to below the keypad. however, i think it's possible to find even the most uncomfortable keypad text-friendly once you get used to it. i found the notoriously confusing nokia 3200 keypad fine after a few days.

i just got this yesterday and i hope these answer some of the questions posted: mine came with the leather pouch yes it is a fingerprint magnet but a regular wipe with the cloth used to clean spectacles is a small price to pay for its amazingly sleek finish ringing volume is LOUD the update from v4.81 to 5.23 is now available on the nokia site it DOES creak when i press down on the part below the navigation keys which gets pretty annoying overall, i'm willing to overlook these minor irks as i am very in love with this phone. if like me, you're over bulky N-series phones jam packed with features you have no need for and are looking for a phone you can do the basics with and look good while doing it, i'd say definitely get this. especially since the price has fallen a fair bit since it's release.

worst phone I've EVER had. seriously, don't buy it. if u can't decide between this and, for ex, 7610 supernova (slider), the supernova is WAY better phone. it really took me with its wonderful design and really cool options, like size converter. yeah, the supernova is cheaper, but really better phone, especially for ladies ;) oh, and this one's a bit uncomfortable to text writing, 'cos the buttons are way too close. yeah, only problems for me in this phone. :/

I AM THINKING on getting a phone for a 24 month contract, so please I want users that can be trusted my choices are NOKIA N77, NOKIA 6600 SLIDE, SAMSUNG U800 and SONY ERICSSON G700 I had the samsung U700 and it cost me a lot to have it repaired..it was a slide phone so I,m a bit concerned about getting a slider again..my ribbon flex broke after the manufactures warranty so it pretty lame.. I'm not getting positive feedback for the NOKIA N77 but I like the TV! SAMSUNG U800 is nice however im afraid to get another SAMSUNG FONE AGAIN!! BUT I was thinking this is OK since its an open faced phone..so no prob with the ribbon of flex there with the SONY ERICSSON I was thrilled it has touch screen and the fact that it has image stabilizer..but most of the opinions are saying its not that good..like it hangs... I just wanted a phone that has a pretty good camera (w/ flash, night mode etc.,)..uses a micro SD ( san disk transflash ), secondary camera for video calling, nice speakers like the samsung one (bang and olufsen technology) and a bit sturdy..I cant help it, there are times that I unintentionally drop my phone..but not too hard..I dont like too sensitive phones..size is not a problem for me..I was thinking on getting the nokia N95 however its to expensive for me..so I'll settle for this candidates.. anyone?genuises?techies?help?

I hate it. i got this phone purely for the contract and ive had nothing but problems with it. software crashing refusal to turn on deleting numbers and files camera is tempremental loudspeaker is very quiet I seriously advise steer clear of this phone. if you want a good phone get a nokia 5500 sport. they are literally indestructable. Mine had bricks dropped on it and it was run over by a 40 tonne truck and dropped in acid in chemistry. Came out smiling each time and still worked. Just dont get a 6600 slide

Very nice phone but since i updated the software ,the map keeps crashing the phone at "Find address" mode. Also the vibration is almost nothing and i just wish it had function programable 1-9keys...and a torch/flash program that works on the S40 platform.

I have had the 6600 slide for about six weeks, and used it on a daily basis, and my experience is that it is a good little phone. My version is the 1c-black-magenta, and is made for the Hong-Kong market I think, as it has English and Chinese language options, I have not seen it in the shops (bought it new off e-bay), it has eight themes on board, lots of ring tones, but no Nokia maps.

hi, I think this phone is good. I have it. but it has one problem. I have version 04.81, but there are some 6600 slides which are 05.23 version. well, on nokia update, there should be an update for this. but there isn't, so I take it to the nokia servis where are going to try to do next: Update my phone. Remove bug where sound crackles if some1 call you. remove the loosenes of slide. well, at least I told them to try repairing this. well, if you're buying this cell phone, you should now, that you will have those probs, but I'm sure they're going to fix that problem.

Dear Friend, this phone has no build in GPS antenna, means you need to buy a bleuthoot GPS receiver and connect the receiver by bleuthoot to the phone, than GPS will work. However allow me to tell you the mobile screen is small and difficult to see if you use the gps in a car. Most optimal device for GPS now is N96 who works fast and accurate and has a big nice screen. but N96 is expensive

cities folder and voice files are for use with gps receiver and nokia maps. maybe u can try different way holding the phone. the antenna is near the loudspeaker. this phone signal is very weak compared to other model / brand i use before. but the battery last quite long if u notice. it last me 1 week wif less than 30 mins of phone call during that duration.

I have this phone for a few days now & find the fllwg to be correct and true: -It is a fingerprint magnet -It is not that easy or 'comfortable' to open the USB port or Release button to open the back cover. -It is vey sleek, stylish, smooth, looks great. -It is a very basic phone with basic features, not a business type with Quickoffice etc. -My biggest issue is the CITIES folder in the Memor Card with subfolders called Diskcache and Voicefiles: The phone switches off when i click on V.Files and switches back on itself within 10secs & the diskcache folders say'file format not supproted'. Does anyone else have this proplem? I called three Nokia technicians and got three different answers,ie, software upgrade (there is none currently), delete the files & download when i need them - i tried & it still doesnt work) and take phone back to the dealer i purchased it from. Any suggestions anyone? I dont think this phone is a bad choice, its just pretty basic. -None of the keys are faulty/wobbly. -Reasonably priced here in SA -Caller's voice is not that clear at times - a bit irritating -It is not recommended for someone with big fingers/hands who sms's a lot as the keypad is quite narrow/small -Quite small but heavy - not a bad thing -If ur looking for stylish & basic,this is the phne to get. - -

Yes, you are right! There is a gap (and not very tiny!!), and when I press the buttons on the right feels somehow uncomfortably... the upper part (with the screen) is balancing. Also you are right about the Navi-Key: when I press it down, it creaks a bit (is not the same sound as when I press it the other directions)

I like nokia very much and also I like this brand 6600 s very very much but I faced a problem with it don't know why I bought it 4 days ago but I found that the speed dial only takes 7 out of 9 number and two doesn't worked, Also some problems with the software such as language shifting and some applications doesn't work or even open. I changed it and I found almost similar problems with the new one too though I don't have any data on the phone but my contacts and calendar notes If someone can give a real feedback for this phone coz I really want to buy it again, it's gorgeous with its colors.

the over heating is definately an issue. pls note it NOKIA. i like nokia phones but its heat up very fast. do something bout it. if i live in canada or alaska... i will not state this then. again, try to lower the heating problem or eliminate it. that is the future of handphone. no heat is the way man.

i don't have any overheat issue with 6600s. talked 45 mins and yes there is heat but not until it's too hot. maybe your handset is a parallel import aka not imported by original distributor. maybe can try flash the firmware to the latest one.

I have 6500S & 6500C, 8800Arte & this 6600S - all sucks ... fingerprint magnet, short battery life, lousy camera and overheat during calls! Overheat during longer duration calls is the biggest issue! I bought it a few days ago. Its realy nice, the only 2 things i had to mark is: 1) the button to unlock the backplate (to remove it and acces the battery/simcard/microsd) is a bit, hmm lets say difficult at the beginning, but after a few tries you are used to it. Also the cover for the usb port needs a bit training, but in the case that i wont use this more than 1 time / 2 months its ok. 2) the issue witch is noted in the review that the sound-grill is at the lower side and will be dampend if laying on a flat ground is half true half wrong, in my case at least. Due the reason that the back plate is not 100% straight it still sounds loud enough, only if you press a little bit on the side its like noted in the review, may result in some production problems or something but for me it works. But i would still recomment that you turn it arround with the screen to the ground so you are shure if you are realy relyed to the alarm clock :-)

i will never buy those exclusive phones. too expensive, even the sound quality/reception is not extra special. the only reason they are expensive because the material/brand/design and status. they are there for their statement to the ppl around. in other words expensive doesnt mean good or reliable all the time. yeah, i use those bulky not even qualify to consider as a "handphone". then move on to the microtac before changing series of single band sim enabled phone. but i didnt use as early as '85... only around '89 or '90. still miss those old motorola, solid construction, reliable and long lasting. new generation phones tends to hang and problematic.

For your information, I don't just own one 8800 Carbon Arte, but I also have a Sapphire Arte with me too. I always buy good looking & expensive phones - not for functions but for sound quality. My Vertu constellation gives good sound & reception but the screen is not that great, especially hate those small fonts. My Motorola V9 is a great phone. My sharp SH902 has goot excellent screen quality too. My HTC diamond is rubbish. One version of my SE W910 hang quite often, but not much problem with my other SE's. My Motorola K3 & A1200 Ming is still very reliable & I'm still keeping them. My ex-owned LG Prada is good looking but the touch screen is not sensitive nor accurate enough & it did hang quite often too!...My Samsung Tocco is exactly the opposite & the touch is just as good as my Apple 3G. FYI, I started using mobile phones since the beginning of 1985.

Read the V9 review about it's screen quality...It's the best & definately better than any Nokia screen! Obviously, Motorola Aura will definately be the best of the best - no doubt. I can tell that you are a Nokia fan & I have no objection....but Nokia phones sucks big time for business man like me; cos we use our phones for extended business conversations & we need good sound quality. SE G705 = features loaded N6600s = outlook/material build SE G705 features WAY loaded than N6600s. that is good if you looking for features per $$$ you paying. you still have to consider material used in N6600s and yes the brand also have some $$$. if same fatures with N6600s would cost about maybe 1/4 less for the same SE. if you read the review of SE G705, the outlook is just average and made of mostly plastic. so N6600s is all about brand and material. as for SE G705 is more to the fatures. N8800 arte is really OVERPRICED item from nokia. that family model i will NEVER buy because the price is too crazy for the mediacore features. but still it looks damn cool to hold one in your hands. SE camera, sound are very good because sony is making digital cameras and they produce audio visual appliances. nokia core business is still communication products. (they do produce some crt/lcd and some few items) motorola models never attracts me since nokia 6230. the screen resolution just sucks BIG time for now. i used to have few motorola v33, very reliable and as you said good call quality.

It definately make a big difference if you can have a phone with much better features, but for only an extra 1/6 more on the price. In my country, south east asia, both of the SE705 & Nokia 6600 cost the same to buy. Btw, I'm not a SE fan. I'm using a Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte - which is quite rubbish...overheat, low quality & a slow acting camera which is almost useless in low light condition - this will never apply to SE camera! I'm a Moto fan because they produce the best in call sound & reception quality - also very practical & reliable. SE, Nokia & LG phones hang very often but not Motorola phones...

Hi Rohit.There were two places which quoted this price.One was a Nokia Priority Dealer (NPD) opposite Ambedkar Bhavan (near Cantonment Railway station) and the other was again a NPD on New Bel Road,Near Ramaiah College. You can check out other places but the difference wont be more than Rs.200-300 because its a relatively new model and apparently it is doing very well.

what nokia 6600 slide version did you buy? mine is i think malaysian version. never really had any of those problems you type of. before buying this phone make sure that the phone you are going to buy is not the 1st version released(china version) it has been reported to have a lot of bugs. how would you know if you have the china version? the only map available is china.

I got this phone a few days ago and i'm having the same problems with the "tapping" (does not result unless you tap very hard on the screen, i didn't try tapping on the back cover..)and the "white flash flickering lines" on the screen. The radio is working with the earpieces but will not work with the external speaker :( and the photo quality (3.2mp cam) is not better than the 2mp of my old w810i. That's why i will once again buy a w810i which i was using for 3 years before buying 6600 slide. I've got over 30 phones the last 15 years, have tried siemens (my first phone ever), ericsson, sony ericsson, nokia, alcatel, samsung, motorola, lg... nokia may have good phones but i'll not buy one myself anymore!

nokia interface is excellent as always. it is actually a lovely phone. it looks like a lg chocolate phone. camera is not too bad but it wouldn't replace my dedicated camera. my slide seems a bit flimsy and flexes slightly. that's the first slide phone i own that flexes when open. but not too sure if that was caused when trying to remove the back cover. it seems like a mission with bigger hands!

Ok, so I finally got my Nokia 6600 Slide, let me say right away - I love it ! The entire backplate and slider is made of metal, it�s super small and the large 2.2 inch display is great, super clear and with really good contrast. The slider is quite tight, the main navigation buttons are a bit noisy, but not too much. The only negative I can think of right now is that it�s a fingerprint magnet, but on the other hand, when the screen is on, you will not notice. The 110 grams of weight can be felt, but it just gives an impression of quality. The camera is good, the images are clear and with little noise, much better than I had expected, I have not yet tested the music and sound quality ...... but all in all, a great little phone !

it's very small and sleek. very nice phone. love it overall. i read earlier, someone asked; "why the msg received time is 8 hours behind?" My reply "It is because you have to change the time setting to GMT+8". the only cons to me: buttons are very small & tight, quite hard to press, sometimes press wrong button. and worse is you can't try to sms quietly in the middle of a meeting or at night. but conclusion...still 'da best for now :)

The pictures in the review come from the Nokia 3600 (look at the Exif data)...I guess same for video. Shame Gsmarena took their 3600 review to make their 6600 review ! Using the real phone for samples would be better don't you think ?

Nokia 6600 slide Have a couple of problems which I would like to share with someno who can solve it namely: 1. With the vibration on, certain ringers, not the tunes but the old phone ringer and others of the same type, a strange interference like pop is heard at the end of every individual ring. when vibration off all ok. 2. Tapping: difficult to tap on screen and have a reaction for the time in standby mode. Tapping on body especially at back no problem and finally 3. sometimes when moving from screen to screen as well as when keys are locked and you open phone resulting in the change of screens there will be for a second, one or two white flash flickering lines in the bottom half of the screen.... any advise.. I should add that, as mobile-review pointed out, when you are at a very low-signal area, the phone does indeed lose signal while eg. the N78 doesn't. I would say that its signal capabilities is on a Samsung level...not at the bst Nokia level. The same thing is true with the 6500 slide. It is not by any means problematic but people who want to use it at areas with poor reception should NOT buy it!

I repeat that the earpiece is much louder than the average. Much louder than the N78 that I have. External speaker is also louder than most phones. Very satisfactory in this respect

Well when I say "hear" I mean I saw photos of the gap and I came across a Singapore forum where users were complaining about this and that it was scratching their keypad and also about the back light bleed from the sides of the keypad.

I here that there is a problem with the slide, where there is a gap under the area of the d-pad and soft keys. When you press down on it with the slide open it brings the top part of the slide up as in it wobbles up. Also if you press on that area to close the slide it will scratch the keys on the keypad. Also that the keypad has a gap aroud the sides of it and lets the back light out as in the back light bleeds out of the sides od the outer most keys. Is this true?

I've had it for two days and I can confirm that only the back cover is steel...also the back of the UPPER slide. It is very well built though and the slide mechanism is very smooth.

6500 Slide looked much classier than 6600 Slide. All Nokia had to do was design a handset similar to 6500 Slide & make the SW bug free. 6500 Slide looks like a 8XXX series phone. The steel was beautiful & sexy. Every time I have my 6500 Slide out, people stop to ask me what phone is that??!! Nokia's build quality has gone downhill....& people are beginning to take notice.

Nokia 6500 slide was a dud phone. i work for an australian carrier and we send so many of the 6500 slides away for repair, moreso than any other current nokia. go the 6600 slide

1.the camera is grainy. 2.the aluminium frame on the backside,surrounding the camera is prone to detachment unlike other nokia phones. 3.the music player is ordinary. The plus points include the memory card support of upto 4GB.Looks wise it is cool and nice to handle

This phone is not bad for the features and looks. To add on, i dont know if nokia is venturing into the touch screen features because this phone responds to u tapping on the screen twice and the clock would appear, which is quite redundant I must say. But this phone is a real beauty indeed. i dont know if we should be rejocing for the fact that nokia isnt keen on venturing into the touch screen genre or should we be upset that its probably time they take a risk?

i have seen the actual device... looks sooooo much better in person.... 1000 percent beautiful... it can even compete with the 8800 arte... the materials used are top notch glass and metal and the weight give it a luxurious hefty feeling... it also retails for an unbelievably low price.... mid-midsegment pricing with decent features and top class looks will surely make it a winner.. get the magenta if u r a girl and the blue if u r a boy.... one downside is the lack of a volume rocker switch and dedicated camera button (nokia must have taken these features away to make the phone's contours more fluid).... great buy indeed if u r into fashion who likes features....

already out here in the philippines, dunno about other countries. (about 23k pesos) very small and sleek. i think it's exactly the same as 6500slide, just choose if you want sleeker design or carl zeiss camera lens.
