I think the Nokia 6560 is a very rare phone since it's US only. I just looked on ebay for fun, it can't even be found on there. It's gonna be a hard time to find a 6560 I think.

The US variant of this phone (6560) was announced on 12 September 2003 which was the exact day I was born. I live in UK, so it's impossible to get the 6560, the 6610 is the original though. This is why this phone is special to me, I hope I get it one day. I make 1080p videos on YouTube (same name as my GSMArena account) as I am a Nokia phone collector, so far I have a 3410, 3510i, 3650 (Faulty), 3109c, N95 8GB and a 5230. They are all in decent condition. I have made ringtone videos on the 3410 and 3109c. An overview video has been made on the 3650 as it's faulty so I can't make a ringtones video or retro review. The 3510i ringtone video is in the works, so are the rest of my phones.

I tried this phone for some few years ago, but I found it too plastic, with bad and difficult buttons. And not AT ALL as good radio as, for example, Nokia 2300 (6610 has worse radio audio, slow radio FM channel changing, and so on). The standby time was not good. And the handsfree plug was often troublesome... But the phone is NOT a "total catastrophe". I anyway think many people like/liked it! (It has also a very nice design/look!) :-)

I have purchased Nokia 6610 in the year 2005 for Rs.6000/- and felt very nice to all of my friends.After 2 months while taking railway ticket thief stolen my phone and I felt very very bad.After that I wanted to purchase the same phone but by that time this phone has upgraded to 6610i and I did't liked that.And I searched everywhere and finally I purchased second hand phone black colour and still I use this phone occassionally.This phone is very cute and smart.The shape is very nice.But the colour of the case has faded and I am searching for original black or white coloured panel. I was using one of these until yesterday after my HP Multimedia Messenger died earlier this year (probably the worst phone I have ever had). What can I say? The 6610 is now a 9 year old phone. Yes it still worked but just barely. It's a far cry from the Blackberry Torch I'm using now. It was good in its day but hardly meets the personal and business demands of 2011!

I got mine in jan 2003 and it is perfectly working even now and that same battery is holding up to 5 days (original battery). I'm more than satisfied. It is a perfect phone for call/sms only users. Quite durable, it fell from height a dozen times, broke apart but still working as new. I especially value it's loudness, I hear it ringing loud and clear even in full bus. Although now it is a bit antique, I still use it and plan to give it to my Grandpa when I get myself a newer model.

by far the best from Nokia even without a cam and music additions. Its simply simple, classic, elegant.... all the good adjectives that can be used. I have been using a 6610 since 5 years and I am still not willing to give it up. the second hand set i had to buy is still working great since 2 years. unfortunately i lost my 6610 in a charity event .. To connect to the internet with the 6610, you have to use GPRS. Check with your mobile provider if you can use GPRS with your GSM account, and enter the settings from your provider in the "Connectivity" - "GPRS" menu. Then you can surf the internet (text only, and very slowly wrt todays standards) by using the menu option "Services." Under that menu you have the options you know from your web browser like "Go to address" and "Bookmarks."

Is a basic phone by today's standards. I have been using this phone for almost 3 years. Previous owner was using it for almost 2 years. That was the quality of Nokia phones now, quality gone down. Hanging on to this for as long as it is functioning. No complaints just got it serviced coz there was accumulated dirt. Get a trusted hp technician (some shops have their in-house technician) to do it. Some shops will tell u some funny problem charge rm100 then u will get a new hp from them instead. I paid rm25 and it is as good as new! It has gone thru some bad drops, some water, travelling and heavy usage. I only bought new batteries. I hope it will last another 2 years, i don't care if it looks old-fashioned. It is hardy and reliable! Much more than many new phones these days heheh

It's a pitty that no common music or ringtone files can be downloaded easily on this phone. I had to flash my phone, and everything (ringtones, sms,...) was gone!!! no way to have them back, or get new ringtone from anywhere. It's a big disadvantage.

i have had this phone with me since 2003 so it has been 5 years! it is really solid. it has taken alot of punishment from me and it still makes and takes calls and sms. i never needed a backup phone with it. the battery life is incredible and i have never replaced the batteries in my unit since day one. with just the minimum amount of care and maintenance this might see me through for another 5 years. im planning to get another phone but i am keeping this one with me for he main line that i use. the new one would be my backup.

i'm agree with most of the comments.. a really really reliable phone, conservative design, built with excellent quality of chrome, good feature at its time and it's even still comparable with some of the new nokia phones at this time.. i have used it for more than 5 years, and i have no complain at all for this phone, like the others said, best phone i ever had, thx 6610..!

Best phone I ever had, it is a pity Nokia don't make anything as good any more. I could talk on it all day without the battery going flat, it never had "software" problems, just so reliable. I still have my old battered one as a back up. I have "tried" a few different models since and still dream of the days of the 6610i.

i am a proud owner of this phone, the best phone ever! ive been using this phone for more than 5 years and no complaints about it. the size is just right, the keypads is so friendly to my hand/thumb, still working thought i dropped it for so many times, so easy/simple to use and durable. great value for money. i still dont have plans of buying a new one until my phone surrenders and quit to function. im still waiting for a phone with same size and keypads as this.

Greatest phone I've ever owned. Better than any phone available today. I don't want an MP3 player, I don't need a PDA, give me a small phone that works consistantly and has a clear screen and I'm happy, this WAS that phone. Why they don't make a smaller or lighter version of this phone today is beyond me.

i've been using it for 4 years, and i can't complain.i like the look, and it works well.I changed the battery(because i like to listen to the radio!), and cover (tired of black colour!) once, and it's OK.I like the design most, it's a pity that Nokia doesn't produce the phones of this quality and design anymore

Easy access, smart professional look and many more.... and ya its infrared port is something strange. when u attach phone and pc with IR port then it will work fine. but u cant use it directly to other phones. U can only send receive bussiness cards through it with other phones. but over all its nice...

this is my first colored phone and i used it for 4 yrs, i dropped it meters high for several times, dropped in a pail full of water but it is still in good condition until i sold it. keypad was great, and also the speed. i believe in the saying that simplicity is the best thing in the world ^__^

This phone is the shizzle.top dog for christmas. kids love it. the 10000mp camera makes photos easy to take, and develop. The only downside is that their are 2 many features to handel and yeah. good phoe in general.

6110i. Been using it for a year and a half. changed the panel and it looks new again. Q: how many lives does it have. fell down from the bus. drove the car over it, still works. Dont feel like parting even though market is flooding with new technology and designs. there are some things u cant beat. its like a trustworthy partner u can always rely on.

my dad got me a 6610 when i was a senior in high school and it worked great. im a hardcore SMS-er and the letters on the keypad never faded no matter how much i pounded on it. the user interface is easy to understand (i got it in like 5 minutes) and depending on your network, downloading wallpaper is uber easy i run out of prepaid credits in mere hours. im not much of a gamer so it didnt bother me that it only had two games. doest get hot on your ear right away (great :)) and SMS-ing is just FANTASTIC. overall, 9/10

6610 has 750kb memory while 6610i has 4mb. Memory shouldnt be a concern as u cant play music or have a camera. Upload stuff from a pc using a dku-5 cable. Using the computers Infra-red would be cheaper as the cable costs a lot.

This phone was my first phone. Everything just fine,no bug no flaw. One day my 6610 gone weird, I can turn it on. at first I tought the battery was run out. But after 1 day charging, I know something wrong. So I take this to hp rapair, and it said it IC was burned and I have to pay almost like paying full price of this phone. So I decide to buy new cellphone instead. AND IT'S motorola ROKR e1. And I'm happy with it.

I got this phone before taking the board exams as a gift last 2004. It retired my old buddy 3310 after almost 3 years. All I can say is it is quite well with simple design(not to flashy) and pretty good features. Got a great fm radio too, all though I dont use it much now since it drains my batt all too quickly. Although it only had 2k+ colors when 65k colored phones were flourishing, still good enough for starters. Well, after sometime...my keypad (esp the middle row)dont quite work too well. I shouldnt have played too much back then.hehe

I have been using this phone for past one year. It is really good but I am not able to connect through DUK5 cable so I got an IrDA and am now able to connect to PC through Infrared. It has a very small memory size around 302Kb which is really small it doesnt have a memory expansion slot which I really miss.

i m using DKU-5 Cable, Nokia PC Suite Version 6.x (only for WinXP) is working fine with my Nokia 6610 & Nokia 3100. But i cant transfer data to my cell on windows ME and windows 98 with same DKU-5 cable, Nokia PC Suite 5.8 & 4.x. (versions for Win98,ME)

The nokia 6610 is one of the worse phone i ever had, only had it for 2 months and i got rid of it for a better one. No camer it dose hold a lot of sms's but thats the only good thing. After a while the keys got really hard to push and sometimes i hae to bash the phone to get it working again.

HELLO TO ALL NOKIA USERS NOKIA 6610i is one of the best mobiles ever seen. It has amazing features such as WAP, BROWSER, INBUILT FM RADIO, CALENDAR etc. But one thing is of the CAMERA which is not good as NOKIA 6600. The rest is all fine and fantastic.

i absolutely LOVE this phone. the overall look of the phone is just adorable. I've had it for a little over a year and so far no problems. I have even gotten it wet and dropped it. The radio is great, as well as the speakerphone and cute backgrounds/ ringtones. this phone even has a degree converter.

no problem for buying this fone.its better than 6610i.its screen is better than 3200 and 6610i.the infrared port is no good.it cant b used 2 connect 2 other phones,however its very easily connected 2 ur pc's IR-port. another plus for this fone is dat its battery is superb aand d radio sound is really loud and clear.

Hi! this is PARDEEP BHANDARI from North India. Sorry! for reposting and also for some what bad english. My english is not so good but I will try to tell you the whole idea. I want to tell you the whole story of my phone i.e. Nokia 6610(Black) with firmware NHL-4U Version 5.53. Last week (May 10,2005) I was using Oxygen Phone Manager v2.xxx with my Nokia 6610 through data cable DKU-5. I was sending SMS. In first try of the sendign the messege, the software did not send any SMS although I have send SMS with the same software several time before this event. I thought there is some problem with the phone because it generally hang out while using GPRS and I have to switch it off and then again on to rectify the bad condition under which it doesn't connect to Internet. So this time also, when I proceed to switch off my phone then what I see that my phone was already switched off itself. I was very strange. However I try to switch it on again and this phone refused to switch on after a blue flash on the LCD. Now every time it was behaving like that while I was still trying to switch it on. I even put off the battery and SIM card out of my phone for 12 Hours but the condition doesn't rectified. Next day I went to Nokia Customer Care for repairing purpose. Nokia customer care is in next town to my residence and it took 2 hours to just go to Care Center and returning back to the home and I have to go there by bus becuase I have not any vehicle. At this point I want to tell you my phone was 8 months old and was under warranty. I was sure that this is the problem with firmware of the phone becuase my friends' Nokia 1100 and my cousins' Nokia 2100 were rendered Dead but without any reason as they don't ever connect their phone to any PC. So in their case the reason was not known. Anyway, I told Nokia Customer Care person the whole story and he promised me to give my phone back the next day after repairing but I got my phone back after 4 days and travelling to that town 3 times in the summer when there was so hot outside. It proves that Nokia Corp. has such type of customer care center where their employee don't understand any reponsibility over their customers. Hmmmm! Very Bad Nokia customer care support. Now Back to phone again. My phone was dead because of what I was thinking before i.e. Firmware (or Software) Problem. Customer Care replace it with ver. 5.63 and now phone is working right. But I have learnt one thing that I will never send SMS via PC now even while using Nokia PC Suite (It is Bundled with Nokia Phone). Now you can understand how badly stable is the nokia firmware. It is just not an issue with Nokia 6610 it is also a problem with other NOkia Phone. I think Nokia can never make a stable phone. Their phones are just to Show Off and they really don't meant to do what they must do. If you want to buy the Phone then don't go for Nokia. Siemene and Sony Erricson are very good choice and last but not least Never use stupid shit softwares like Oxygen Phone Manager as these creepy software made by Buggy software Engineers do nothing but render you phone really "DEAD". Although the phone is good but Nokia Support is bad and really really bad. I had to go to other town 3 times for my 9 months old Dead Nokia 6610 Black phone. I was sending SMS through trial Oxygen Phone Manager Version 2.0 and then phone just dead (wow!). It has very bad firmware. Nokia never put stable firmwares in their phone. Mine was NHL-4U VER. 5.53. It was really very experience to be with Nokia for first and last time.

This is a perfect phone.Thanks to Nokia.But recently the Infrared in the phone is not functionong properly.Try to send ringtone from other Nokia phone to this model the infrared not access the service.

dont buy this fone it is the worst fone ever. first of all the fone broke never been droped or wet (only 2weeks old) sent it back to nokia and they supposedly fixed it. but when i got it back nothing had been done to it and it was still broken so i sent it back again and once again the same so on its 3rd visit back nokia said it had been wet and wont fix it but it had never been wet because it spent more time at nokia than with me so i went and bought a sony ericsson t630 and it was the best thing i have ever done. so dont ever buy this fone or any other nokia because a simelar thing happened to my brothers 7250i

Frankly, i love this phone. It has the same futures as 7210, but in the lower price when it was thrown into the markets. Thought Nokia was very briliant poncell producer that always make different series with same specs. 7250=3200; 7210=6610; an many others type that we've just not only realised. One weakness that i found was it has hard button, especially at the bottom, between * to #. Hope that Nokia could give me a solution for these blunder?

The best feature is the built-in handsfree speaker-phone.It's a pity all phones don't have this function. Great phone for the basics of phoning, reminders, SMS etc. Q/ Why do MMS rec'd not take up the entire screen? Are there any sites for free or cheap downloads of ringtones? I've had my Nokia 6610 for past 18 months. My only frustration is the stupid menu - it's not as well thought out as earlier Nokias I've had. Sometimes u get stuck on a pathway & can't reverse back (have to cancel to start), or if the screen isn't clear when someone calls, you can't put the handsfree on. Too many keystrokes for simple sms-ing.

I have a 6610. Bought it new in Kuwait from Xpress Cell. Everytime I get a picture sms from naharnet.com, it breaks down! I mean it shuts off and I have to take it to Nokia to have it repaired. I don't know why this happens. You guys can try it as well. For some reason it breaks down when I get sms pics from this site. On my other phone 3510 it works well.

Color-depth, polyphony, no voice-dialling and flickery button LEDs let it down. But even just after upgrading to a 6230, I will still be sorry to see it go.

THE NOKIA 6610 IS JUNK!!!! We bought two here at work and have had nothing but trouble with them. We are high end users making phone calls all day. There are 5 of us in the office with full coverage - the others have Sony-Ericsson with no problems. The 6610 repeatedly hangs up calls usually with the message �Insert SIM Card� or other garbage on the screen. I was issued a new SIM but to no avail. I have taken my phone back 5 times for numerous software upgrades and repairs and finally they replaced it with a new phone and guess what � IT IS NO BETTER. My colleague is on his 3rd handset and it too doesn�t work any better. His phones have had exactly the same symptoms as mine. I spoke to the man at the local cell phone shop, his comment � the 6610 is the most returned handset for complaints� He listed all the problems I was experiencing and more. SO WHATS THE STORY NOKIA? HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT PEOPLE WANT TO MAKE PHONE CALLS WITH THEIR CELL PHONES????

I've had this phone for more than a year now and I'm still very happy with it. For those who can settle for a serious, honest to goodness phone, I highly recommend the 6610. It may not be as flashy as the newer camera phones but it serves its purpose quite well. It's just simply so easy to use and reliable. I may still keep it for quite some time :)

this phone is crap, i had it for 5 months and then i sold it. the screen quality is crap compared to other phones, and the camara headset is good, but the picture quality when viewing the pictures on a pc is realy realy poor. the phone also kept crashing if i played java games or browsed wap for more than 6hours daily. the memory is also crap. i seriously do not recomend this phone

I just bought this phone in May...after doing some research on the Internet. I like this phone... Overall, this phone should be considered as a user-friendly mobile phone. It's easy to use. And it supports GPRS and MMS! But the MMS is very good..let me tell ya'guys my experience. There's one time when I was composing my MMS..the phone suddenly switched off automatically..after a while...the phone switched on itself! That was not because the battery was flat..this incident happened several times when I try to send my MMS...well I don't know the reason...but one thing that I'm very sure is that this is the phone's problem. Maybe I should write to Nokia Co. The other con is that this phone only supports 4-chord poly..(compare to Samsung's 40-chord poly and Sony Erricsson's 16-chord)...the screen only has 4K colours (compare to Samsung's 60K...)..and it doesn't has built-in digicam...

Why would anyone buy the next generation of Nokias? My love affair with mobiles started with Alcatel OneThouch 301 nearly 6 years back. Since then I've had four Alcatel models. I liked them all for their functionality but due to Alcatel's inferior hardware, three out of the four had died before their lifespan got spent. So after much of a searching and fair amount of convincing from my friends this time I decided to go for a Nokia. I've had used or played around with many Nokias but this is the first time I truely own a Nokia. The 6610 is a jewel on eys. Nice esthetics. An ornament to carry around. I ain't realy complaining but was this the Nokia(Phone) I dreamed of having? Read on.. After nearly a month of use I am not convinced. I get the feeling this is the last phone I am gonna use which incarnated as a phone. They all function the phone's basic job adequate, making calls but nothing else. My all last Alcatels did, this one does. Being not bias to Alcatel, I still like the way they've implemented their OS though. I expected a little more from a Nokia because it's Microsoft in the phone business in many ways. So what is this Nokia 6610 is lacking? As somewhat a tech savvy person, for me it's EVERYTHING. Because I use it EVERYDAY, EVERYWHERE. All my surrounded people seems to be impressed over this 6610 beauty, but I am not convinced. Software wise Alcatels did almost all what Nokias do, slightly better. Their OS was more intuitive. Less cumbersome. More responsive. Reading a 250 memory full SIM with 10 voice tags was a snap. I always carred 85 full SMS inbox with no dealy at all. Nokia takes hours. Menus were buried too deep in this 6610. They've had speaker phones for years with the exception (Forgot, picture messages which I sometimes missed) of FM Tuner which I ain't use. The phones form factor is just right with my average size hand. (It is the exact size of my early Alcatel 501 without the protruding areal) My main reason to go for a Nokia was it's IR port. It has an IR port then why on erath I can't truly communicate through IR with my Palm which had been using an IR port for years? Sending a biz card a gimmick I enjoyed in my childhood. That don't impress me much. The phone suppose to support JPG, GIF, MIDI like format but why can't I beam them using the standard Palm's IR? I expected true communication to my Palm through IR. That is not possible. Period. Colour screen is quite good for a day today use even with it's 4000 colors it is equally good as my Sony Clie screen for what it does. Good. Numeric keyboard is owesome. Easy on SMS but less responsive sometimes. OK. Navigation keys are wierd and really crippled. Less responsive. Needs some serious work, too small even for a small (kid's) thumb. Combined keys are not a good idea you always tend to press the wrong one. Specially the call and hang up keys should be separated, well, we actually don't need two dedicated buttons. The same key should act like the call and hang up key like in some Nokia's and Alcatel's. Menus are too deep and annoying. Why do I have to open things (ring tones, images) like in a PC? They shoud just start playing when you are at it. Absurd. Call registry has too many options but lacks the individual call duration. I see the Missed Call Alert on screen, then why on earth the phone can't pick up the name for the number from the directory and say I have a Missed Call form Ruani? Why do I have to dig into the menu to see who'd called me. I get the Missed Call Alert as a SMS from my ISP when the phone is either off or out of range, but why the hell the phone can't pick up the corresponding name form the directory looking at the SMS? Why I can't set a duration reminder beep periodically to keep track on my long calls (specially with loved ones) which I tend to always lose track of? Why it can't show the on going call duration for the same reason. Why Nokia can't set the menu status(on, activeted) right in front of Menus? (A tick in front would do the trick) without wasting too much of my valuable screen landscape. Whereas you can make more menus visible at a time instead. If handspring can give the world on Treo 600 with 160x160 pixle palms native screen. Nokia probably can do better for a phone from the 6610's 128x128 screen. Utter waste of pixels. Why not customizable font sizes (smaller), more information at once like some Nokias since my eye are still in good shape? Afraid of change? Why four way navigation? Why it doesn't have the fifth selection status? Whereas the rest of the world has accepted the five way navigation was the success story of the mankind or so to speak. My Alcatel had a 5 way dial for years. Palm, Pocket PCs and later even Sony Ericssons came with it. (Hay no matter what, my next phone will be Handspring Treo 600 or a Pocket PC clone with that 5 way navigator for that simple reason.) So how you gonna convince me to go for another Nokia, say when this is gonna die on me? This isn't a hardy piece of hardware either, just like the Alcatels. They all die after a couple of free falls to the ground. Ain't phones are most of the time hand carried by the users and tend to lose the grip on them time to time? Poor assumption. So where all there takes me to the next round? I mean can I be stisfied with a crippled phone originated phone like this anymore? Would you think your 6600 series with Opera browser would impress me enough without you improving the way things behave at your OS level to the hardware esthetics? Will you think that I'll adopt Symbian? It is simply not ready for the prime time. I would rather go for a Pocket PC smartphone than buggy not compatible Symbian OS device, If I am to give up my much loved SONY Clie. Sony Ericssons P900 looks impressive but Palm and Pocket PC devices are years ahead. I know what happened to the T68i, I almost brought one, thank god I didn't burnt my hands a year back when I got crazy over it having seen the mammoth freature list. Not a single unit that I knew lived up to it's promises. I never heard Sony Ericsson ever anounced upgrading it's firmware either. Period. So I still feel you add little more tweaks to this 6610 OS it'll be a remarkable phone oriented phone . So I think 40 series OS Nokias will stand a better chance than Symbian OS devices. It least within the average SMS user generation. It seems you most phone companies simply don't get it. A taste from both world looks impressive but it gives a bad taste in mouth. At least for now. Since nobody got it right unless Handspring that I know of the Treo 600. Microsoft would eventually. So if you don't wanna me to buy another Nokia (A phone oriented phone) that's fine with me. I brought four Alcatels before I let it lose and gave it up. But I feel like getting rid of this Nokia 6610 beauty even before I am gonna leave the first scratch on it's screen. I really wanna love my new 6610, but I couldn't. Nokia, a big name, a nice piece of hardware and a truely a phone oriented software system but badly implemented. No I am not impressed with 6610. It's been long time for you to get things perfected. A nice blend from hardware end to the OS end. You didn't, yet. So, People will choose. I will decide. I will rather live with a PDA incarnated phone than a phone originated phone which tries to be a PDA but yet still can't communicate gracefully either with my PC or the Plam. Viola! nice phone indeed. True, the tones are not loud enough, an the vibration is too soft. @Bala, you do not depend only to GPRS/WAP for games. It's easy as 1,2,3 to install games via cable or infrared using the Nokia software. I am using it with my laptop and it rocks. Never want a phone without IR again. About the vertical lines: more or less, they exist all the times. I have noticed that in some conditions they become more obvious (I was in the subway once), but usually they are not very noticeable / anoying. Not in my case. A great thing is that you can use covers (with keyboards ofc) for 7210 and 7250. This way, you never get bored with how your phone looks ;)

I have had the 3210 and then the panasonic gd92 and the nokia 3310. I have the 6610 now and its a definite improvement over the earlier black-n white models by nokia. The plus points are the colour screen, text message memory(75), FM radio(not present in the 6100),long battery life, polyphonic tones. The minuses are the lights do not flash when receiving a call from a caller assigned in your groups, the green call key and number 1 key are too closely placed, the 4way scroll is practically useless, no voice dialling, no composer, only 2 games(Nokia, why do you want us to depend on WAP/GPRS for downloading games? How about preloading more games and increasing the memory pool in the phone?). Also how about live call timer during call session to let us know how much time has elapsed while talking? Panasonic has this facility in its phones.

Yes, I know many others with this phone who is facing this problem. It seems to be the case of using cheap materials in the phone. The connection is of a bad make and it gets damaged easily and therefor when it's loose, it will flicker. It's nothing to do with software (this one that is). That is not a bug. Bugs are software related. This is hardware with connections. So much for FUCKING NOKIA QUALITY!... now where is that jerk face nokia fan who says NOKIA HAS QUALITY?!??

What about bug in 6610, when you assign diferent tones for groups and someone calls you from group, the light doesnt start ? Here is what I found on some page: 28 March 2003 Many users have sent emails to us enquiring about a possible problem with their phone's backlights not flashing when a call is received. After some in-house testing (and asking around), we have found that there is an inherent problem in the newer versions of the phone software for the Nokia 6100, 6610 and 7210 handsets. This problem only occurs when a particular phone book entry has been placed into a caller group, and where the same caller group is using any ringtone apart from the "default" choice. In other words, if you assign a tone different to the one used in the "profiles" for a caller group, the backlights will not flash when there is an incoming call. We have contacted Nokia Care in Australia, and they do not seem to have direct knowledge of this issue. So far, we have found that this problem exists in V4.18 of the 6610/7210 software, and V4.02 of the 6100 software. Unconfirmed reports of a possible newer version of the 6610/7210 software (V4.2 do not address this issue either. Any softver revision solved problem ???

Sam, wait until the display turns dark (in the stand-by mode) or until the digital clock screen saver appears. Then ask someone whose number are stored in certain caller group (ie, Friends or Family) to call you. You may dial from your home, but be sure that your home phone number is added in certain caller group. The name of the caller, group and group logo appears, but the display still as dark as before (when the screen saver active). IT'S GONNA BE SO DAMN HARD TO SEE THE DISPLAY. If your phone doesn't have this problem, you are so lucky, coz the Nokia Customer Care in my city (Jakarta, Indonesia) has confirmed that problem. He said ALL NOKIA 6610 AND 6100 HAVE THAT PROBLEM. MAYBE SOMEDAY WHEN THERE'S A NEW VERSION BLA BLA BLA... I left him right away. Go to hell, I thought. Another point. The sound quality from the speaker when you use your phone for talking (that's the main function, right?) was very poor, like the sound from a "not so well tuned" radio. Bzz..bzz.. (Far below my previous phone, Siemens ME45). I'm sorry to say that the only IMPRESSIVE MOMENT during my 6 days with Nokia 6610 was when I got the full refund from the shop. Hey, if they don't admit this problem, would they gave the refund??? For Nokia, how come you do that, selling a product that has a problem, and tragically, you still sell it even when you know the problem? You may think that it is just a simple problem, and people in Indonesia buy expensive mobile phone just for fancy and only use some very basic feature so they won't understand the problem. It may be true, but don't you think that you have the obligation to inform your customer before you sell the product, not when they complain to you? I asked the Nokia Customer Care this morning and he confirmed that problem without feeling sorry to sell that invalid fuckin phone. Well, all the people seem to give the bright side of the picture..... Lets look at some bad things bout the 6610. First the screen isnt that much as its hyped to be..... because almost all the pics cause ,slight to moderate banding and it feels like the screen cant take the pics bits...... The second thing if u've noted is that if u use GPRS or the games for more than 2-3 minutes, the light begins to flicker like theres a little short circuit going inside........ u can note this better while using it in low light conditions......I know these things are rather trivial but these problems existed in the 7210 and should have been corrected in this model.......... Other than this its an cool cell.

Been using it for more than three months now and I've never had any problem except having to spend too much time tinkering with its features. With PC suite 5.0 and my infrared adapter, the possibilities are just endless. Overall, I'm just too happy with this phone!!!

I am really glad to get the 6610, all great features, screw Bluetooth! Who uses it?! Infrared or cable is as much... 6100 is also nice but doesn't have a FM Radio?! What a shame, I would have gotten it. I encourage the 6610, it's really a nice phone, people seem to be impressed with it all over.

Just upgraded my phone's software to v 4.18. You can have it done at any Nokia Care Center for free. I had mine done in a mobile phone shop though and only took a couple of minutes. The stupid Nokia center here in the Philippines didn't want to upgrade my phone when they found out that there's nothing wrong with it. I just wanted the new features like being able to use personlalized tones for SMS and caller groups. The new software also seems to work faster than the previous one. Just a word of caution to those upgrading, be sure to back up all your files prior to upgrading. All files and settings will be lost. I backed up all my files using the PC suite 5.0 and infrared adapter which I got for about $27. Some default images and tones were also lost but replaced with new ones. With the Pc suite 5.0, the're endless and fun possiblities you can do with your phone. Cool!

I think the the NOK 6610 is awesome phone. I've used different brand phone and nothing could beat Nokia's style. Their unit are user friendly. I have a lot of fun with my phone. I started off with a NOK 5190 then a 6190 then a 3390, 7190, 8290, 8390 and now my latest unit is the 6610. Nokia somehow hits right with their units. They make it perfect for every type of user. However, their polyphonic ringtones needs a little more work. The Samsung S105 is the best polyphonic ringtone I've heard so far. Overall I rate the 6610 an 9.3 out of 10. Can't wait to get my hands on the 3650 or the 7250...............addios

I've been using my 6610 for about a month now and it's been great so far. Very easy to use. Size is just right for big hands. The keypad is very soft to touch and just right for my fingers. Originally wanted a 6100 but didn't look as striking up close plus I found it too tiny ;) Color resolution is also great. I'm lucky enough that my service operator in the Philippines provides very good support. I've been having fun dowloading photos, java games and tones. MMS feature helps me alot plan my road trips becasue I get real-time webcam traffic updates. Sending e-mail and surfing with GPRS is also a breeze. The built-in handsfree is loud and clear even when it's about three feet away. This feature proves very useful when driving or when you're doing something else. There are some downsides though. You can't transfer images between compatible Nokia phones through IR. Funny becasue we tried sending an image from a 7650 to a t68i by IR and it worked. You also can't use gallery and downloaded tones as an alert message tone. Just like anyone else, still wondering why Nokia didn't include bluetooth in this phone. Though I really have no use for it, not just yet, it would've been nice. A voice-dial and recorder likewise would've been nice. Overall, it's great because it fits my lifestyle and daily needs. I know it's not for everyone but I believe it's at least worth a look-see. Check it out!

I trade my T68i for Nokia 6610 and used it for about a month. No regret about it, I found that the picture colour and resolution are much much better, the handsfree speakerphone are clear (no need earpiece), the built-in radio saves the trouble having another adaptor radio earpiece to the phone as T68i required. I have downloaded few Java games and the games are very entertaining (T68i cannot download). The setbacks of the nokia 6610 does not have bluetooth, recording & voice dailing-For me, bluetooth and voice dailing not really useful except recording is still good if the phone have it. Lastly, the key buttons is great to press but it's stiff on T68i. (by the way, I changed from T68i to Nokia 6610 because my previous T68i sometime the phone hanged for no reasons and need to take out the battery and on it again. just got my 6610 a week ago for a little less than $350 here in the Philippines. Did I get a good price compared to other countries? So far so good. Love the phone. I got a white one which looks far better than in pics. I have a question though. Anyone tried receiving a photo from another phone using infrared? I tried using my friend's 7650 and can't seem to make it work for my 6610. The same worked when we tried sending a pic through IR from the same 7650 to a t68i. We tried sending a biz card through IR though and that worked. Just wondering :=)

Like the phone a lot, except that you can't use your downloaded ringtones for the user groups, so it's kinda pointless to have all your favorite tunes when you get stuck using the nokia ringtones. by the way, you can just stick your ringtones or images(128x128) on a website and download them via wap by typing in the entire URL....

I have just bought one on 02 contract. Had a S.E. T68i before, read a few reviews the nokia and i have to say that the point about the screen being duller than the t68i is so minor that i dont find it an issue. The 6610 is 110% easier and faster to navigate, texting and other features just make a lot more sense that the t68i. Yeah it ain't got bluetooth but unless your gonna be sat at home pissing about with syncing your calender to your computer and downloading your latest picture of Lara Croft on to the phones memory who really cares that much. I am a high end user an i use my phone to text and and talk any other features are always a bonus but at the end of the day i think this is a good realiable phone, quick and easy to use, good looks and good quality. Besides anyway its got java, so you will soon be able to download some applications that are never going to be available to the T68i. Ringtones are loud and clear for polyphonics and i have not missed a call yet. Charging is very quick, with a good battery life. sorry T68i i'm staying with my 6610!

Nokia uses the Passive Matrix display which is actually not so nice but is low on power consumption. Active Matrix Display produces more vibrant colours but could consume more power...

I saw this unit today and was impressed with its slim form factor. The color screen was a little on the dim side, but very usable. SMALL NIT: The menus differed slightly in content and visual look between the 6610 and the 6100. It's a little confusing when a manufacturer overly tweaks their interface too much. Both are, after all, based on the Series 40 interface and should look more consistantly similar. I'm looking forward to comparing the 6610/6100 models to the Nokia 6200 model when that ships 1st Qtr 2003, and will do so before I buy.

On the 6610....the game "bounce" well it always crash...like if the ball move too fast then it gets trapped inside the wall!!!! any1 come across this? this happens all the time on level 9. please reply

I have had the 6610 for 5 days, and it has been brilliant. No software problems, actually no problems at all. Phone is of a perfect size, like the 3210 but much lighter. You'll never know the phone is 84g, feels brilliant. Colour on the screen is bright and good, contrast even can be adjusted! Loudspeaker function is absolutely wonderful too... Voice can be picked up even from far... The "Sent Items" folder in messages also was very useful for me... Only thing I did not like about the phone was the headset, which falls out quite frequently. Other than that I feel the phone is absolutely worth the SG$450+ i forked out for it. Hope the review was useful.

Dark Vampire: Yes I suppose it is... Previously, my 6510 took less than an hour to charge... And now my 6610 also charges very quickly, in about 1hr30min like you said... Don't worry...

i think one is faster then the other, not sure which is faster.....cable or IR. and also one is cordless and the other isn't....both is USB connection. u can download midi files and convert to phone ringtones by using the sound converter....get midi files from.....

6610 comes with PC suite (composer,image converter, logo maker, sound converter (midi to rinftone)application installer) but u need a data cable. 7210 don't come with the program.

i just got this phone on o2 30 (�15 per month) plus �100 for the handset. i have to say i am very pleased, the only slight letdown was screen quaility i would have prefered an active matrix. but this is the best phone on the market in the uk, the radio is great shame its only got 4 chords polyphonic.

the release date is around october/november. There is no bluetooth in the phone. The phone can be used in any country. Its a brilliant phone, nokia's best yet. I shold know, i work for Nokia customer services and got my product training last week!!!

The covers&keypad for the 7210 will fit this phone also, so wont really matter which one you get.

hmmm.. the difference between 6610 and 7210 is that 6610 does not have voice commands or even voice recorder!.. so I don't that it will be that expensive.. and still good looking phone ..it looks like the Siemens SL45 when u consider the key board.
