Nokia 8800 - User Reviews

  • Still using this.

  • This phone, cutting edge in design. It was expensive at the time for a reason.

  • Staying at 800 euros? It actually dropped prices! (Check the prices on ebay, it's much cheaper than 800 euros)

  • you can buy it from ebey.com

  • Hmmmm, well I hope this isn't true....... I just bought a used one....... And it isn't....... I know cos I had one when they first came out..... And now IV just bought one in mint condition....... But I will see if it's fake when I arrives.

  • I have a gold plated one for sale, it is the real deal and I have the silver casings all in mint condition should you want to revert back to silver. I'm thinking of selling it as I'm not using it that much anymore and I don't like taking it out for fear of scratching it, the gold is absolutely beautiful but is temperature sensitive.

  • This phone was an absolute cracker at the time! Would love to get my hands on one now, but most on ebay are fakes apparently!

  • Its the most beautyfull nokia phone !!!

  • oooch this model is battery less.only one hour why so?

  • I have been using this phone for ca. 4 years now. To my mind, it was produced using quality materials in the first instance, like saphyre cristal or steel. Battery is a weak side. I managed to buy the one of higher capacity (1100Am) at ebay and it still woks fine for some 72 h. Nice phone for calling, and I like it. Maybe, for I do not care of text messages and / or smartphones capacities as for now :)

  • why do this phone cost too much? whats with this fone fellas please help me im a filino

  • 2 of owning this phone charger looks flawless I seen them worth 0,731,649,277

  • i have a long doubt since it has no features why is it expensive abt the normal 8800 im talking abt plzz clear the doubt

  • The phone is really good I have been using it for 2 years and nothing is wrong, the only drawback is with the battery, but I have a trick that will save your battery. Make sure that you charge your battery only for 6 hours per day dont put your phone on charge for a night that will destroy your battery life. just follow these tips.

  • I had both the 8800 and 8801 and I live in Canada. If you live in an urban area (Montreal, Toronto) 8800 will be just fine. If you live/travel in more rural areas (I live in Montreal and sometimes travel near U.S.-Quebec border) you will have no signal. Also, if you travel between Montreal-Toronto route, your signal will be on and off with the 8800 because some places use GSM 850. If you live anywhere else, however, it should work fine. Hope this helps.

  • Yes it will. I have both the 8800 and the 8801. It will work in Canada.

  • Hi. I am from Canada. I just purchased Nokia 8800 First edition. it is not a Sirocco edition. it is on its way. i just did some search on the internet and They say regular Nokia 8800 has GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900. Does it work at Canada or not? because there is a Nokia 8801 which is providing 850/1800/1900mhz Network. Between 8800 and 8801 is there any different these phones? do they both work Canada? Thank you Ozzie

  • buttery????

  • In my opinion if your Nokia is silver from nokia (you might have changed the casing etc) the most appropriate battery is the Nokia BL-5X. To get quality battery, I will suggest you buy the battery from authorised nokia outlet.

  • its the battery model for 8800

  • what do you mean BP-6x? i like the handset but a can't use it bcause of its worst buttery! what can i do? anyione can advise me ????

  • what do you mean BP-6x? i like the handset but a can't use it bcause of its worst buttery! what can i do? anyione can advise me ????

  • sexy phone but worst battery life

  • when the phone was launched this was one of a kind, the best camera around. The phone is a stunner , for the time it was launched

  • battery problem! last only 8hrs! every thing else was great. then my flex broke! i bring it in nokia care, flex cost around 150 dollars. i dont want to spend that much on an old phone so i sell my 8800. i have now a nokia 2730 classic.

  • battry life is great on the BP-6x, great build for a handset.

  • Is the battery life really that awful? How much talk time do you actually get (or used to get when the phone was new)??? I want a stylish and reliable phone for calls and texting, nothing more.

  • i'm going to get this is in June can't wait :)

  • Chnage ITS battery IC'S than it will start working...

  • Am using the phone and its hell trying to replace the battery.I've bought two and still a battery cant last a day.the metal hood is also close to the bottom keypads * 0 # which makes it uncomfortable when pressing them.and for a phone this expensive,it should have a higher camera megapixels and at least a memory card slot.

  • it is not a good phone as its features are not good and a high price is charged for it.i do not like this phone

  • great looking phone...battery sucks! probably one of the coolest looking phones. still see it in blockbuster hollywood movies!

  • Is this model a dual SIM capable ?

  • i love this phone more than any other phones.. it's cool and it looks decent...

  • your phone is stolen thats the reason

  • Boss I wld really appreciate if u look at N73 and chk 5800 as well..

  • i been inlove with this phone for years now and hopefully will be picking mine up tonight after work. I CANT WAIT LOL

  • What is it in this phone tht costs so much..Doesn't have a Wi-Fi,GPS...Nokia 5800XpressMusic, N73 are better option..

  • I Love This Phone..His grace is very cool & easy to impress others.

  • I have this phone. When you have the right firmware on it (i believe 3.96 or later and you get the nokia 8800 sirocco battery it lasts 3 days with a few phonecalls/sms a day.

  • i'm planning to buy this phone but i'm not sure of the battery life...... does anytell me if i;m having the right decision if i buy this phone pls... i love the bulit but i'm not suure how long is the battery life

  • I had 8800 several months ago, it was just too shiny and i sold it. Months later, i saw 8800SE in a 2nd hand store but not in a good condition, Now i just bought a mint 8800SE with lifetimer 11Hr. got it around $260 in kaskus.us there is a man who sell 8800 series (sirocco, gold, arte) in a really good condition, he does not sell a bad looking one. and he even has several bnib items

  • Battery performance *Really POOR, my car broke down at 2am, and I got stuck at the side of the road and needed to contact roadside assistance what luck the battery died as I was on hold to the Motor club. IF you have one of these best to get a mini charger or 2nd battery just in case (You don't wanna be in the same situation I was in).

  • The product is very nice but just dat would have being nice if its has Memory card slot in it. how much is the screen nor flex of the phone

  • Thanks for your valuable information... I too have nokia 8800 and the battery life is so poor.

  • Got really confused when i knew that there are so many 8800 phones with same name :( i found this comparison to select my best one, check hope it benefit you

  • I love this phone so much. But it always had problems with battery life, and also with keypad. Left half of keypad didnt work from time to time. Ive sent it at the service but the repairing was too expensive. Now i regret selling it for 80$ :(

  • This phone is the most beautifull 8800 series

  • i had nokia 8800,its display screen was not working.may iknow the cost of its display

  • they make a gold plated version

  • You can connect this phone to a pc using pcsuite only by bluetooth.

  • No, only black version of this phone produced for needs in Russia, then it was marketed to whole world

  • Anybody knows what cable data ( Nokia to PC ) use for this mobile? thanks

  • does anybody here knows how to format this elegant phone?

  • Hi guys i am Shan and i have this Nokia 8800 4 3years and i think Nokia did made something 4 the people who love elegance, who love Fashion, who doesn't care how Expensive things are,and 4 who love stylish and sexy. They should have this Nokia 8800.

  • i love this phone so much pro cool ,elegance. cons.. hateries life only 3 hours for call. does anyone. can e-mail me where i can buy sparepart for this phone. i live in indonesia..so hellp me. thas al guys..

  • The answer is simple: you can't. The operating frequencies are determined by the hardware. You basically have two options left: - move to a different country where you can use your phone. - try to find someone who has the same but opposite problem and trade phones.

  • I recently have nokia 8801 (US Version). Now i have having problem with ma frequency in ma country. The mhz of this nokia 8801, dosnt match with the network of the telecome compnaiezz in ma country...can any1 suggest..how do i solve my networkk problem........I dedlyy to know..that...........

  • Hi am using an attached bluetooth headset with the phone. will you able to let me know is it good to connect the headset all the time or else? or else since its a battery sucking phone please let me know a conclusion. i have bought the new 6X battery and its awesome

  • Battery has problems!! but the screen is awesome and body is amazingly sturdy. I Cant tell you how many times i have dropped it and its still in tact

  • Dear all, the experiment is now complete. In total the Bp-6X Sirocco Battery is able to tackle the 8800 energy-sucking phone for at least the maximum 4 days. For mine, the battery was loaded on wed and it signaled low-battery today(sat) hence it is able to last 4 days. So far, i have made 10 calls, 5 messages.3 bluetooth transfers as well as play music for 15 mins. Hence, my conclusion, with the Bp-6X battery. All your battery problems are hereby solved and part of history! Enjoy using the phone for i am going to!

  • Experiment Phase 1 Time Frame Hello all, its been 48 hours since the phone has turned on. After installing the Bp-6X battery (Sirocco( it has only lost 2 bars so far). Updates will be coming soon.

  • Hey all, i will be conducting an experiment to verify the truths of the Nokia 8800. I will update you on my results. =) Issues covered: -Battery (BP-5X, BP-6X) -Reception -Weight -Systems -Stability Stay tuned.

  • I recently acquired a Nokia 8801 (US MODEL)so far the connectivity is good. I will be conducting a few tests when my BP-6X arrives and i will be doing overnight charges and proper battery management techniques. I will update all of you on my experiment results.

  • Hey guys and g... That phone is one of the best phone ever made Nokia. You guys have to use original battery made in German, Finland, Norvey. Not like bu Nokia Chinas gunk battery...!!!!!!!!??????? An better learn more function be for tape something stupid word.... The Nokia 8800 was made for Russian, for elite high level !!!!!??????

  • Expensive phone and has minimum funtionality. The battery life is suxx, the my phone can't store the contacts to the SIM, every time when I change the battery, the phone losts time and date. I do not know why it costs so much. I like only the design, steel case, cradle and leather bag.

  • I will only buy this Phone if it was coated with Gold. and the screen is Plasma. LOL

  • If this was a better phone, then why it's only rated around 7. somethin'? i think its durable phoen thats why its expensive, but well it's not multi task phone and it's not really recomended to those techie people like me. Why you need a durable phone if you can get the Nokia N91 which i think touch and durable too, and it is a music and multimedia phone compare to this, if you buy this phone then you just about to trow for a bunch of your money from your pocket. It's oldie stuffy phone. This phone is suited only for careless people, as they always want durable phone. They want that if they dropped it it still workin. and this phone is recomended to boring people, they dont want hi-tech and more advance phone. I better buy inexpensive Nokia Phone like Nokia 5110

  • battery has no problem

  • why memory card option is not added in this mobile

  • Dear fuz don't you think that this phone is much beautiful than other ones with more functions?

  • hey guys is this phone cover made by platinum steel or something? why is the phone soo expensive comparing to an ordinary phone which has better features than this phone?

  • can u say me that where can i get high power battery of this phone? the main problem is the battery

  • Let some one know where i can get the the battery replaced from 8800 Nokia.

  • In theory battery life is not a problem. If you talk too much, you certainly have an office or a car to recharge it.

  • its an awsom fne nd my battery has no problem. i wonder y.....

  • whoever says that 8800 sucks means he doesnt have money for it. 8800 for its time was a masterpiece of the mobile phones. it looks great,it feels great. the battery problem can be fast resolved by buying a sirocco batery. it is just a great phone to have, stylish and sexy.

  • its realy a nice cell but the only problem is its battery!

  • 8800 arte battery does not fit for 8800 classic but the solution to the battery problem is to replace the old one with a 8800 sirocco bp-6x witch lasts 2-3 days even after 6 months of usage

  • I am very disappointing abut its battery performance. Nokia should think abut customer point of view, because we are paying VERY HIGH PRICE FOR 8800, But battery backup is 420!!

  • pucking battery!!!

  • Is there a possibility to change original 8800 battery to 8800 arte 1000mah battery (bl-4u i think). Phones look the same type, so battrey should fit too. IS THIS TRUE?

  • i love my 8800 but problem is battery and keypads, the battery i use now is the third one,but problem still there, i used to charge it for few minutes like 30mints and it shows the battery is full, and when you receive long call it shows empty battery, keypad i cant go back by using keypads i must close the folder, and when i write message i cant delete if am wrong i have start a new message, its very bad but i like it.

  • Forget Nokia 8800 - it is past! Look for the future. But NOKIA should really look for batteries. The life of all phones is so poor thet it is beyond criticism. Exept for the phones with no functions at all.

  • I LOve MY 8800..This Phone Is GOod...Just The Battery.. Is VEry Poor :S

  • I have a gold nokia 8800 and the *,0,#,and the top right key doesn't register, screen is blank when you turn it on. Needs fixin! i have a question DOES anyone know if i replace a new keypad or a full house case for my phone will that fix the keypad problem,or is it not the keypad that need to be fix becux its the inside of the phone that why the keypad is not working? And Does anyone knows is it okie for me to put a sirocco case on a reg. 8800? screen is blank when i turn it on how can i fix that? if some of this is not fixable by me then where can i send it to be fix? thanks alot if you can answer my question thanx thanx thanx

  • i think this phone is for gays

  • stylis phone for stylish people just 8800, but y its battery is poor??? Pakistan zindabad.

  • m from pakistan m using 8800 its realy a master piece but battery is realy poor.

  • you guys kept on criticizing this phone. dont you know this phone is only for retired rich guys who is always on vacation? it does not need too much of multimedia. its just like buying a freekin vintage aston martin its classy and it serves its purpose. thats all. you dont buy a vintage aston martin and go at the trunk and see if it has like 20" monitor a bose sound system and a 30cd changer. this phone is like a car the design must be superb the features not muched to be focused on.

  • 8800 is good .. but battery is very dull and poor

  • good phone but the only thing lacking is momory

  • I'm a designer and I think a lot would agree that the 8800 is a fabulous piece to have but it would have been more fantastic if it was capable of wi-fi and if it had a memory card slot that could support at least 1gigabyte of memory space and be able to effortlessly save and play multi-media brilliantly. Also, not all classy-look comes in shiny stainless...I think it's rather brilliant to have this mobile phone in a flat neutral color that's also scratch-proof and easy to clean. Would have been ten times worth the price you're buying it for eh? just a thought..thanks!

  • In manila, there are places where people can purchase used phones including 8800's and get a fake one but not be able to tell that it is a fake or a reconditioned version of the real thing. There have been pirates manufacturing the metal cases and all the other parts of the unit and having it mass produced due to it's popularity in the market. I think Nokia should be alarmed about this to ensure the exclusivity of the ownership of this prestige handset.

  • guys just bought this phone, at the back of the phone when i put off the battery prototype is written what does it mean? does all 8800 silver is noted as prototype? even at the back of the battery. Thanks please!

  • i just bought battery 6x and my phone lasted 3-4 days.

  • Don't worry about the battery;now there is a solution!Buy the Nokia Sirocco battery and make sure that you always charge your phone with it's specific charger!(Battery: BP-6x, Charger: ACP-12E). You will not only see an improvement but your 8800 will be as good as new!

  • this phone have bad battery problem; good sound.

  • my nokia 8800 is suppppperrr

  • nokia 8800 have some seriously problems like battery and icons milot preteni

  • This is the worst phone I have ever had the batteries are useless, standing time is very very short. Looks nice but not work the price. Also problems with volume control. A lot of research is needed to match the look of the phone and its reliability.

  • m ali from islamabad pakistan my comment iz dat my cell phone 8800 have some problem . when i charge my handset than some icon will b show on my display screan and due to this i cant call with some others else so pls rep me m waiting ur ans ... m very thankful to u for this act of kindnes.... regard muhammad ali paSHA email id :[email protected]

  • truly a masterpiece, seen on the movie Transporter 3, tropical thunder, Crank, etc ... really never goes out of style

  • One word 'Masterpiece'

  • about $500USD for the stainless version. 24K gold $2,100USD.

  • Hust wanted to ask about the price range of ths?

  • The 8801 will work on asia as long as it is unlocked right? coz im worried because my phone is 8801 not the 8800 for asian model.

  • hi guys. i have a nokia 8801 and im going to travel to asia. will this work there? the factory battery is BL-5X? right? please give me some answers.

  • yes it does

  • i've just got 8800, this is my 2nd time that i owned one , one was a year ago. Switch back to 8800 coz its damn good looking phone, it's like a Classic prestige car that no one hass one, buy another battery the BP-6X it would solve the battery problem. Cheers!!

  • Awesome Looks, Buddy Its Great With 6x Battery, i m Using it with 6x. Wallah.

  • I agree, the battery sucks for this phone. It is not at the point where the phone will not work unless it is plugged in. If it's not plugged in, it will say 'Battery Low', and then I plug it in and it says 'Battery Full'. What is up with that!

  • Nonsense..... Waste fit for nothing... May Jesus Christ bless the waste fellows to but tis...

  • just buy a BP-6X battery(Sirocco Edition's Batt), it would really solve the battery issue.

  • I just got one in Singapore. I use Singtel as for my network provider. But i couldn't send MMS and the customer service said that the phone doesnt allow me to send MMS. Also tried to put my SIM card on other phone and it can send MMS. Anyone tried the MMS feature? Something is wrong with my Nokia 8800.

  • Just buy another one !

  • ive just got a nokia 8800 silver the battery is crap, nokia should make a better battery.

  • No doubt the phone is cute and silky, but the most disgusting aspect of the phone is its battery. If only NOKIAcould produce stronger batteries for the phone,it would have the problem.Bcos that is the only problem the phone has.Thank you.

  • It was also in Tropic Thunder.

  • pls the battery is having serious problem.

  • I have bought an extended life battery (1000 MAH) from mobile fun via the internet. The phone performs much better. I guarantee every one will be satisfied with the results. Try it everyone! Still have my 8800 (mint condition) best looking mobile ever. Beats the 8800 Arte anyday.

  • Can anyone tell me if the Sirocco 6x battery works fine with this phone?

  • you sure about that? i bought and non original battery. the original one has 600mAh, the one I bought has 2300 mAh. but same problem. no more than 1 day. is really the 6X better? thanke you for answering.

  • battery talk time up to 3h? sorry, but that`s not true. i have a 8800 and i am sure that nobody ever got to talk more than 40 minutes. i really like this mobile, but the only problem i have is the battery.it just goes off anytime with full battery. on stand by no more than 1 day, and talk time no more than 40 minutes.and this is the truth:)

  • Anyone notice this phone is in every other big movie that comes out. The ones I can remember are The Dark Knight, Wanted, Body Of Lies, Crank and a ton more I just can't remember at the top of my head.

  • This page said the color that available was silver and black(for russian market). How about the gold one ? Is it original ? Anyone can help me ?

  • Battery can last up to a day only. My LCD and flex were destroyed. How can I replace it? I inquired but its so expensive. The price of the LCD is as expensive as a brand new phone. Comments on these please... Will I have this repaired or buy another phone?

  • Hi Guys, does the 8801 US model works in asia? especially the Philippines. or no? please answer. thanks!

  • good looking phone.. could be more thinier, now is fashion thin phones.. i prefer 8800 type of phone more then brick like n95.. but it isn't perfekt. cuz if i wanna buisnes phone i just wanna good looking phone with strong battery... battery is most imoportnant stuff i looking when buying phone.. it must least 2-3-4days, not just one day.. phones that you must fill every day is just crap.. nokia make better batteries.. look at s.e.

  • The click sound of closing the cover is the best thing about this phone!! No other 8 series has the same sound!!!!!!!

  • In nokia's official site there is no ifnormation about colors for 8800. But there are 3 color options for Sirocco. So i think Black 8800 and other colorfull versions are just NOT Nokia made. Does someone agree with me? Also i think it is more beautifull than Sirocco an of course than Arte.

  • i had this phone before and the battery is pathetic!! if you are going to buy this phone, dont waste your time,as you will encounter endless problems. the styling is really beautiful but you will end up paying much more to repair the phone than to buy it. and my friend had the exact same phone btw...

  • buy another phone

  • Hei, i am quiet shocked to use nokia 8801, i am from bangladesh. my cell phone having band-width problem.. it cant run smoothly with the sim i use. network goes up and down. can any one tell me where can i fix this shityyy problemm..other than that...there is no doubt that, this is a handsome beast... • i am using nokia 8800 since 2006. i replaced the 5x battery with 6x and it last for 3 days!

  • are you sure if i use sirrocco 6x bat. my phone will last up to 2-3 days? coz i really like this model but bat. life is my big prob. thanks.

  • Nah, im not saying that I got it during a war, but the previous owner didnt really take care of it properly because the housing is scratched up, and I think he did not charge the batt properly because once i made a call the battery would just die out immediately. But after changing it to the sirocco batt, all is good and im going to use this phone for a super long time =)

  • i bought this phone 2 weeks ago......the design is good, bt the feautures r not very impressive.....

  • the phone is so luxurious ive been using it for almost 3 years now its been the most perfect phone ever. its just like having a rolls royce classic in your hand. looks perfect for a man who does not need any gadgets just the essence of style of communicating. this is the coolest nokia 8 series you just cant compare a nokia 8800 classic to the new 8800 sapphire arte its just like comparing a classic rolls royce to the latest mercedes benz sclass the 2 are for luxury but one really makes a statement...

  • I just got the Nokia 8801 unlocked, 2 weeks ago. I'm haveing a hard time setting up the configuration for the MMS. Is this a recurring problem with this phone? Sad part about it is I work as a sales Rep for the service provider I'm trying to set the phone up with. Thanks

  • Hi there I got this phone like when it first came it and it was $1500AU which wasn't so worth and i dont agree with you that the previous person u bought urfone from went through a war with the phone because this does does actually run out of battery so quick that would last only for 3 hours and apparently its becasue of the cover which is steel. Overalli regret buying it.

  • Just got this phone 3 days ago, but i got it 2nd hand and I think the previous user went through a war with it. The battery ran flat every time i called someone and its scratched to hell. All I needed to do was to buy a new battery so I got the sirocco edition and its working brilliantly. Now all I need is a new housing which I am going to order now. =D

  • An old phone now been passed by by better models it is a very basic phone but this is not reflected in the phones original price but today you can pick up one in your local trader papers for around 50 to 70 and the lack of memory storage and the lack of memory in the phone itself has put many off this phone and the phone is no real use to men with large fingers as it will be easy to press other keys when texting etc and the sliding front makes this phone not very practical in everyday use and is under the metal case just another nokia from the origins of the series 40 range from a few years ago but the reported battery life of 190 hours is more like 3 days but even then it may go flat on you so spend your cash on better models and in todays credit crunch they are many to select from and prices are coming down every day so why not look at what you need from a phone first but if you want to make out you smoke cigars then this phone will do this for you as it does resemble a cigar case the standard nokia 6300 costing far far less does the same task as this but offers more for far less i class this phone as a nokia inovation from bits of other phones so i must assume they have x fiat workers employed there now

  • put a sirocco baterry man it fits and it's more powerfull it will last for 2 3 days

  • Battery problem Phone?

  • such a expansive phone but the battery does not last a day how can I solve this problem?

  • This phone is good. and it needs more memory.

  • bluetooth genius!!!!

  • one of the best phne nokia made!!!! battery problem? changed your 5x bat to 6x sirocco bat...

  • yes definitely u can chnged ur 5x bat to 6x bat of sirrocco

  • hi,friend, you could use bluetooth to transfer something to your computer

  • I have this phone. It has software for PC and Mac. I use it on a Mac. It has very fast bluetooth transfer. Click the program and it sees all contents in the phone. Drag and drop. If you erase what is seen on the computer...it erases it from the phone; visa versa. Works like a charm.

  • I've had my 8801 (USA version) for over a year. No problems. Battery lasts much longer than I've read about. Some people must be flipping it open and close every five-seconds. Sound quality is better than my Sony or Motorola. Camera is not so good. But, it's, generally, faster then my D600. All-in-all a good phone. I purchase it again. One complaint: The "Performance" opinions on this site are worthless. The 8801 performs better than most phones I've uses.

  • hey........this phone doesnt have any usb so how do u transfer stuff from the phone to the computer......answers are much appreciated....thanks

  • Very beautiful phone with class the only problem with the phone is that the battery does'nt long enough.

  • i bought my phone last jan of 2007. flex damge as well as the LCD slide. if you want your phone to be repaired the best ways ever,, go to Ayala Town Center (Alabang) 3rd floor. just find Nokia store. You'll find all original parts. In my case, they have to ship the parts from I think finland or US. not more that 10k. I find it absolutely best for Nokia_hiGh-eNd_N-sEriES for phone like 8800.. jot -09292946777-

  • well done nokia!!! stilish, professional!

  • on what web page can i buy the flex for my phone, some stupid technician ruined it and now i cant find it at any store, but i want one that doesnt need no heat gun to install... thanx

  • please note that, the current phone goes off in the middle of sending a message or the battries goes off after a short period. kindly advice on the way forward to avoid disposing the phone off. From kenya.

  • i have a 8800 which has a horrible battery and to top it my camera does not work what is the solution please help me.....should i reinstall the software and the 6x sirroco battery are a good option or not thanks abeed

  • jsut got the phone. its not new but the battery life is really bad. both batteries wont even last a day. is the bp-6x a nokia battery? is this a better option than the sirocco battery? it wont save number on the sim. has anyone experienced

  • hey ive got the 8800 its a very good looking phone but im sick of it and i want to sell it but i got it as a gift and dont know how much to sell it for.

  • Personnally....BEST PHONE EVER. alright, quite some disadvantages, but I just love it! I can't think of changing it....it just doesn't have any replacement! well done NOKIA!

  • get sirocco battery for better timings.

  • even BP-6x is not a solution. The telefon is nice and glamourous, but has a lot of disadvantages.

  • Well nokia 8800 is still selling in good condition here in Pak. for about 100 us dollor.

  • battery is a real problem, i bought it with a spare battery and they are both useless! what a shame.

  • I'm a person who loves style! No matter what it cost... I bought this phone in 2005. Still using it but i've replaced the battery with BP-6x. It works wonderfully. Hopefully i'ii get one Arte as my next phone! Congrats NOKIA.

  • shine outside! dark inside!

  • Turning off when it wants to??? I used to own a Motorola V3 Razor and it had the same problem, I took it back to where I bought it and it was repaired. The software was faulty and was replaced...but...make sure you save everything from your old software (pics, videos etc...) that are stored in your phone or you WILL lose it like I did and I was so disappointed. The software was changed without notifying me to let me know that I would lose all my pics etc. Your best way to find out what is wrong with your phone is to have preferably a Nokia repairer take a look at it :)

  • The Nokia 8800 is a very stylish looking phone, I was lucky to receive 1 as a gift but the battery life is not good at all. I will look into buying a genuine Nokia Siroco battery and see how that goes. As for the speaker (not being able to hear properly), this is a common problem in Nokia phones and a genuine Nokia repairer is definately recommended to rectify this problem. It probably won't cost you that much to fix but please see a certified Nokia or phone repairer. Nokia 8800 is great quality within its materials and suits me just fine as an everyday phone. Most stylish phone I'v ever come accross, apart from the battery lol

  • i love this phone i'm so used to change my phone every single year, but, this phone had been with me for 3years now and so will for many years coming

  • the phone always go off every other minute. can anyone help out?

  • This phone is the Best Old is Gold, Nokia got it spot on with this 8800 i Love it, the new arent as good as this Original 8800

  • its cool, durable, flashy, but i just have one problem. the screen is going white, even when its been powered on with my sim card in it i can't recieve any call. it returns user busy and i dont know what to do. please can anyone reach to me by my email address on how i can fix this problem or just call my cell phone +234-8039451044. thanks

  • this phone is one of the best phones around. i have used mine for over a year now and despite falling down so many times (no thanks to my clumsiness) it doesnt have a single scratch on it. and everyone seems to complain abt battery life. i will suggest to have a spare charged battery with u all the time! that always comes in handy!

  • Does this phone come in black color like Sirocco? If yes Does Nokia provide it or others? Thanks in advance.

  • One of the best looking phone i've ever seen. Got this 8800 and i find it great. Just that the battery life sux. Got the BP-6X battery instead and it can last me for about 18 hours (heavy usage). It's recommended to get a car charger tho. As for the price, this is pretty solid and i dont find what so bad about it. Comparing it with 8600 luna, this is way better in terms of how solid tis phone is. Love it!

  • this is very nice and gently phone is the best i ever seen buy it hi can be your partner .........point

  • i need help why does my 8801 all ways shut down when it wants to

  • i am not satisfied with the battery life, if we change the battery is it solving the proplem, please confirm, thanks

  • i just got mine three days ago and i like the brand. but my only problem is that i can't communicate it with my PC.though i've the software installed and a bluetooth device connected to the PC and also picks the phone when bluetooth is turn on.the Nokia PC Suite also picks the phone status at the drag n drop portion, but gives error that; (could not connect to the phone)when i click the file management key.i love NOKIA so please help me enjoy this brand.thanks

  • the life of battery for this phone is very short, it needs to buy another battery, this will resolve the problem

  • im having a problem with mine just got a brand new one and everynow and then it just goes blank and i have to open it and close it to bring the screen on..even happens during calls very annoying any suggestions

  • "Had a dream that the N95 comes in the 8800 cover. I would pay a thousand dollars for such an innovation" @enchanted: it would cost fairly more then just a thousand dollars, lol.

  • i dont know everyone complains about battery life..i bought one just cause its my favourite phone and i charge it once and it lasts all day and i talk a lot on it

  • Nice looking, highly priced. I got this phone because it looked hot and I saw that P.Diddy had it in one of his film clips. Small problems like the buttons being too small, and the battery life is way too short. Enjoyed it for the duration of the contract but I think its time to move on...

  • great phone. Had a deam that the N95 comes in the 8800 cover. The world was so perfect...I wish that were possible. I would pay a thousand dollars for such an innovation

  • Hi all, use the battery BL6x instead of BL5x.. m using now the BL6x and it last for one day...

  • Wow! thanks so much for the information... I hope i should have read your post earlier :( Just got a new just yestrday .. Encountered the same problem. I was hoping to charge it once a day, but it seems like it'll take me thrice.

  • Hi! How long is the battery life? I have one it lasts for about 5 hours... im not sure if the battery life is just that fast or i may have to replace the battery. Kindly help :)

  • For e'one with volume problem, the soln is very easy. Nokia 8800's speaker is on the upper rt corner of the phone,it's not in the middle cause the camera located at the upper lt. Thus if you place it on ur lt ear,the phone has to be backward to get close to rt corner. On the opposite, if u place it on ur rt ear, place in forward. It's goona b OK now.

  • this phone is much better than the new 8 series.............................. point

  • I have had this phone for a couple of years and I love it - it may not suit everybody, as it does not have a lot of features, but it enables me to do what I need to do FAST and FAILSAFE! There is no waiting for screens and lack of keystroke catch-up that you have with the N series phones. But now my battery life is almost nil. Is there any other phone which operates similarly to this one? Or is a newer version of this one available (which is not gold)?

  • does this phone has a usb. how can i transfer my data frm my pc into this phone.......plz help me out

  • 8800 very nice. but i have a problem my nephew he change my security code. How can i know the security code. can i restore my mobile again. tnx

  • does this phone has a usb. how can i transfer my data frm my pc into this phone.......plz help me out

  • i am having problems choosing between the 8800 sirocco and the this one. which one shall i choose ????

  • i have this phone and it's great phone but i always have my charger withe me cuz the battery sucks. other than that its really nice and classy

  • I've had this phone for a few years now & it's a decent phone. There's better phones for the money, you buy this one mainly for fashion. People turn their heads & say ooh when they see you with this phone. Feature-wise it's lacking, there's no memory card expansion, the camera is pretty weak... but worst of all is the battery life. I have about 4 batteries and have to rotate through them daily because it dies so fast! Also the reception isn't as good as I had hoped. All in all, if you want a fashion phone this is for you. If you want something that does a lot of things look elsewhere.

  • My 8800 slide is stuck open. Is there a special key to prees to close it or have I busted it?

  • I'm recommending OEM battery its capacity is 750mAh. I just bought one and it wroks very well with no problem to stand by 48 hours. But i didn't check its duration yet but I think it should not bad. But not worth to buy original from Nokia since too expensive.

  • For those of you who use the 6x battery, can that battery be recharged using the 5x charger that came with the 8800? Thanks for the clarification.

  • for whoever is having a problem with the battery life....GET A FREAKIN CAR CHARGER!!!

  • does the sirocco battery fit the ordinary 8800??

  • I use a 6X on my Nokia 8800, it works fine. Go ahead and buy it, no risks taken.

  • Can anyone help me out please. I went to Nokia store yesterday trying to buy the BP-6X battery for my 8800 but the Nokia sales manager discouraged me. She said it is not compatible with the 8800 since the BP-6X is for sirroco. They had a case where in someone bought the BP-6X batt and used it for 8800 but it did'nt work. Could'nt charge the batt after it was drained. The BP-6X battery they are selling is made in china (is there any difference where the battery is made?)Shyould I go on and risk buying it anyway? Please advise. Thanks

  • Nice phone, classics. You can increase battery working time, by mounting sciroco model battery.

  • nice phone but battery time always disturb me do any one know how to increase battery timing.

  • I had been looking at this phone for a few years now, before it was even introduced to the US. I always dreamed of owning it. Finally, my phone died a month ago and it was time for a new one. I checked this one out and read about the horrible battery life problem. Yet I was optimistic and went ahead and got a barely used one off of ebay. Well, it's true. The battery life SUCKS. And for me that's a huge problem because battery life is extremely important. And the battery meter on the side of the main screen would go from full to one bar without anything in between. My batteries only lasted about 30 minutes talking, and half a day on stand by. I realize that this might be because it is a used phone, but I doubt it. So I went ahead and bought two new batteries on ebay. One was a "longer life" aftermarket battery. It was just as bad. Then yesterday my battery from Hong Kong arrived. I heard that the BP-6X battery for the Luna worked so I tried it out. It is a fairly large improvement, but the battery life still is nowhere near what I hoped it would be. the problem with the battery meter on the side also seems to be fixed with the BP-6X. All in all, I would highly caution anyone looking to buy this phone. It's definitely not meant to be a primary phone. Unless you plan on charging it throughout the day, this is not the phone for you. It's beautiful, but barely functional.

  • Yeah the battery life is awful on this and the camera isn't great either. But I still prefer it to my old Motorola V3.

  • I have had three 8801's within the past year. All were covered under the two year warranty but all still had the same problem, including the one I currently own. I can hear my callers but they can't hear me. I need to press many buttons to trigger the mic to work again. Such a pain, I've given up on this 8801 Sirroco and just bought the 8600 Luna. I pray that the 8600 won't share those problems similar to the 8801. They are both good looking phones and because I am a loyal Nokia owner, no matter what happens, I will always buy another Nokia.

  • Yeah, you're right! I've got sirocco battery. It says bp 6x on the battery. Woohoo....i love this thing!!!

  • D, You must be so lucky to get that long battery life!! It's kind of imposslibe. You might have got the Sirocco Battery.

  • Hi lads, just got my 8800 and love it! It seems that i got the good one. Battery last 2 1/2 day with heavy use. Would you guys share tips and tricks? Cheers maaate....!!

  • Hi M.J The problem you're having is same as mine, There's something wrong withe the speaker. You must have it fixed by Nokia. I had to do It myself and now it's working properly.

  • Smart Hand set but very bad bettary Bad camera ,didn cover my needs.

  • regarding the 8800 does anyone know how to solve the volume problem?... people can hear me but cant hear clearly ..even on loud speaker. please advise . regards M.J

  • i have da exact same comment as the perso below. can you provide a link to the one you bought so i dont buy a bad one too? have you try testing to see how long it last?

  • Anyone know who on ebay sells real bp-6x's, i see some that say genuine, bought one and looks fake, the hologram only is red, doesnt go green to red, and the nokia and bp-6x text is skinnier than my bl-5x text

  • but D mate if u really like it go for it your the one who is buying it.Its up to you but i have told u my opinion on this fone plain old boring rubbish

  • D mate there is no point of buying this fone because its a waste of money plus the features are rubbish trust me have got one and i regret the day i first bought it

  • Hi lads, I'm planning to buy 2nd hand 8800 gold edition for about 300 us dollars. Still in really good condition, is that too expensive? What should i do in terms of checking the quality of the phone? Need advise a.s.a.p, Cheers!

  • i got a nokia 8800 last year and it's not that user friendly plus the navigation is only limited. mp3's are only limited for a number of 4 or 5, then if you will load songs at the same time, there won't be enough memory space for the pictures and videos. unlike the other nokia models, you have to carefully choose the tone pattern or else you will just waste your time uploading it. plus, i'm having a hard time hearing from it and when i turn on the loudspeaker it's just the same as a standard volume. the battery is such crap that you have to plug-it in if you want to talk for long. for pairing bluetooth devices it drains the battery right away. it is really fancy and classy style, but i will never buy this kind of phone again. it's just sleek and easy to put inside the pocket but aside from that functionality is really low. i've dropped it for how many times the housing now got dented, i looked for the new housing and it costs me half of its price.

  • Hi i am having a 8800 set and could you pls tell me how can i increase the memory of my phone and one more thing its battery is also very week after charging almost for 2 hours it is getting discharged with in 15,20 mints.

  • does the bp-6x charge fine in the 8801 desk charger?

  • i have a 8800 and iam facing a problem regarding its camera(operation failed)!!can anyone tell me how to get out of this problem??

  • hello guys, i have Nokia 8800 but am having problem with the volume.sometimes am not hearing when some one is talking to me.Is there any solution or suggestion?

  • the best ever!! just buy a BP-6X battery w/c is the Sirocco Edition's battery, and your battery problems will be solve!! Pretty sleek phone indeed!

  • Nokia 8800 is the best mobile phone ever made!!! Just put battery from sirocco and you wont have any problem...

  • you should buy the BP-6X battery(Sircco's Battery), it last longer, mine it last for 2 1/2 days. Try it!

  • the phone is beautiful and coooool but the battery is a complete crap.

  • my god the battery is unbelievably crap! so i got a new one- which is even worse!! It won't last for a whole day, even without using it for calls, which is impossible without being plugged into the wall. And the sound is shot, i have to have it on loudspeaker as its all crackly and tinny otherwise. oh and the scratch-proof glass has two big scratches on it. No wonder they were selling it on ebay- thanks for the total dud Nokia!

  • This phone is the equivalent of stapling e800's to your forehead and dancing around singing 'I'm rich and have no taste'

  • I was wondering if anyone had a problem with setting the ringtone of the phone. I would set it with a tone, and a few hours later it would go back to the default Nokia tune? Could this be a software/firmware problem?

  • 8800 phone would last for years!! never out of style.. in the near future it would be a classic like old classic ferraris, value remains at high price. =)

  • to victoria: 5300 is a nice phone but i think 8800 is far more better than it. Let say I drop my 8800 on 4th floor building and your 5300 on a 3rd floor building, who do you think has the greater damage? For us, the most priority for a phone must have is the capability of call and text and most especially its durability for everyday AOL. Features are just secondary mainly because, it is not the main thing why you buy a phone...

  • Sorry o! this fone is COOL like that! i have it and have been on it for 9mths now, just got the 5300...and this phone that is way cheaper than the 8800 has alot more fascinating features..even with all its features its battery life is much stronger than that of the 8800..i am still amazed at how that is...8800 is just slick/ fancy on the outside..period!!

  • thank you very much for your reply. btw, i have a plan to change the case of my nokia 8801 into a sirocco case. i asked a seller in ebay and replied it will directly fit to nokia 8800 but to nokia 8801, it will need an antenna. Is it true that sirocco casing will fit to an nokia 8801? also, where will the antenna be putted? help plz. thanks...

  • this is the coolest phone ever made.. so you gealous people who can't affort it.. shut the f*** up!!!

  • to brenda: 8800 is different from 8801, it differs from there MHZ, like in the US they use the 8801 instead of the 8800 different frequency in different countries. Maybe that the reason why your signal goes to zero. Or maybe go to Nokia Service Center and have it check. About the pouch for the 8800, i just recently bought a Original Nokia Pouch the CP-153 color brown. Google it to see what it looks like.

  • helo guys! good day! i have a problem with my nokia 8801 mainly because the signal coverage bar has zero bar whenever i'm on a closed areas such as hospitals, industrial buildings, etc. Recently I saw an ANTENNA BOOSTER in the net. This thing is attached at the back of the phone(example phone on net is nokia 6300 that the antenna booster attachment thing). I just want to know guyz if this "ANTENNA BOOSTER" really work on a nokia 8801? Please help me out guyz!!! thanks

  • It's a bunch of craps, how can they discover it if a 8800 is being used by a a replacement non nokia battery. I think the only thing that a warranty can be void if you used a non nokia batt and the battery damage the phone like if the phone exploded or etc ... they can check throught it. Better use the original nokia to be safe.

  • A guy from a Nokia service point told me that the warranty on the phone is lost if you ever use a non original battery in a Nokia phone. He said if you bring it in for repair (for any reason) they'll be able to see if it has been used with a non original battery and. Is this true or just a bunch of sales crap?? Regards, Jasper

  • is it advisable to use a non-official bp-6x battery on this phone? or if i could find a higher one with about 1000 mAh, is it ok?

  • yes, you can use the bp-6x battery of the 8800 Sirocco Ed. ... much better than the BL-5X ... i've bought one and use it! Works perfect!!

  • Is it possible to use Sirroco's battery in the original Nokia 8800?

  • i took of my operator log and it looks much better just go to wap.mob453.com

  • i've just bought a BP-6X battery, seems it will solve the battery problem. Anyone who has same problem about battery issue of the stock BL-5X, you should buy the BP-6X

  • i have a problem like this but after 4 calls recived or made after i rechared the battery. it says empty and if i let the phone for about 3 hours without touching it it shows full battery. if i change with sirroco battery wont't have any problems?

  • i have a 8800, my problem is its battery when someone call or i make calls the phone just say battery empty... anyone here has the same problem?

  • First of all, 8800 it's a fabulous phone. Necesary technology in a extraordinary design. Can please somebody tell me some tricks about this phone? For example, when a line in the battery indicator falls or dissapear the light turns on? Mine does this. Thanks, i'm waiting for some tricks about this phone if anybody can tell me. Thanks

  • hi christian the sirocco bat will go in fine mine works a lot better

  • hey guys! does anybody here know if the battery of 8800 sirroco edition will fit in this fone? coz im really having a hard time with the battery life of my phone! kindly tell me if anyone knows.

  • I think the original 8800 is better looking that the sirocco and the luna non have good features so just on looks and style the 8800 black and special edition are nicer. The 8800 doesnt seam to scratch as badly as the sirocco and are much more user friendly day to day. I had an original 8800 and went to a sirocco and got rid and bought my black 8800 and I have not owned a better phone. Any one that has gone from an 8800 to sirocco and feels the same let us know. The best thing about the sirocco is the bat, head set and leather case that I kept.

  • Got Nokia 8800 and I been using it as my car accessories. And for those who say this is too expensive and not worth of it due to its poor feature...... SO WHAT??? some people have the money. Dont be jealous. I personally dont give a damn if other phones have this 5M camera or 7MP or infinite MP. The fact is they will NEVER beat a normal camera!! Do you really take pictures using phone? How bright that flash could be and how many flashes can it withstand before running out of batteries? And i dont giv a damn if other phones have this mp3 features. If you so concern about the features and sound quality, get a BOSE or harman kardon or whatever audio system on the market!! The quality million times better.

  • Can you change mask on this phone?

  • the display is not scratch resistant!!, the battery life is horrid!!!!

  • Is the sound come out from the right headphones ostiole always louder than the left? Mine does. Make a call and put the two corners in your ear early or late. That would be clear to compare.

  • the bluetooth you'll find in menu-setup-conectivity-bluetooth.

  • i just bought sirocco black. do i have to charge the battery for 16 hours like the rest of the phones?

  • am using the nokai 8800 its really nice and lovely but i cannot find where the bluetooth is an in Ghana and my number is 2330243850518 Pls kindly help me out.

  • i think there is no composer in it if it has plzz tell me where

  • hi, i just dropped my 8800 and the plastic trip crack :(.. anyone know how i can replace that??

  • the first time i so this phone i fall in love with it .it is too elegant and slim but every budy blamed me when i bought it because it has minimum features .i don't care cause this phone is like ferrari not every budy has it.

  • Hey. I have been looking around at the nokia 8800 (silver), and i have nocied that some have a black triming aroung the outside of the phone, and others have a white coloured triming. Can someone tell me, is there any difference between the two?

  • I have the silver/steel nokia 8800 and I am about to tie 2 cups together with some string for a better result. It goes from full battery bars to nada in a blink, mid call etc... I may purchase the BP-6X and see how it goes but has anyone had problems after buying that battery. I am in Ireland and batteries cost at least a kidney.

  • Great phone, looks great, very stylish, as for the battery problems, just buy a BP-6X, it'll last longer, I have 2no BP-5X's charged and with me all the time!! as for people moaning on here about the battery life, read before you buy, if you want super long battery life don't buy this phone (or just carry spares like i do).... one of the best phones i've had, does everything I want it to.....

  • so i found a non OEM high capacity battery for this nokia 8800/8801, its an 3.7v 1100mAh battery on ebay. Will it work and would if so would you recommend it?

  • i just bought a nokia sirocco battery and it lasts me 3 days with an average 30 mins pe rady talking

  • this phone is the most beautiful phone ever released, i like the look better than scirocco edition, yes the cam quality is poor, but i noticed i dont take pictures neways. the only issue is the battery for me, but i have just ordered the bp-6x battery of scirocco and that should solve all my pain :)

  • If you materialistic and you think this ph will boost your ego, then this ph is ideal for you. Try not to scratch it.

  • dis is one of the best looking phones there is right now,...

  • What is the point in buying this phone. I mean it costs way to much for the fact thats its metal, oh woohoo. The features are garbage, the camera is just nowhere near good enough for the price and the fact that the phone is just to easy to scratch makes it possibly the most pointless phone evr made.

  • this phone is literallly crap compared to the nokia 3210 lolzzzz. if there was a slim line phone in this then i would definately buy this. who agrees ???

  • Scirocco battery works perfect on the 8800.. it's standby for a day and a half .. :)

  • Bad Phone Ugly Phone this Phone makes People fool .Only those people who buy this phone they have no idea of purchasing ,its too expensive if u want to spend money move to nokia n95 great phone in the world. All features in One Mobile Phone

  • Hey guys I seem to have a little problem. My Nokia 8800 doesn't seem to let me usje my regular speaker. As in the one you just put on your ear and talk.....( sorry i don't know the correct term for it.) But there is this "car symbol" in the middle of screen. Right under where it says "Cingular." So I was wodnering does anyone ealse ha ve this kinda problem or know how to fix it?

  • i find this phone to be kool

  • do you guys know if a 8800 sirocco battery will work on this phone?

  • yes, this nokia with 1.3mp cam and memory card is fake. It says mpeg4 on the front, has an extra toggle key, is dual-band, and is made in china. do not buy-not real nokia

  • I just buy nokia 8800 I charge 24 hours and phone dead no power at all.I don't know what's the problem.please give me idea

  • hi eve body am using nokia 8800 now d issue am facing is regarding memory...... i just wanna know hw can you utilize message memory mentioned in memory status of the mobile? i have almost 90 msgs saved in my mobile (saved msgs)which has reduced storing capacity of inbox. if u check memory status of ur mobile ull see FREE MEMORY, GALLERY & MESSAGES...... in my case space held by messages is appearing 0.0kb....... can i utilize phone memory to save msgs or is there any option that the number of msgs u can save be increased? will really appriciate ur help. regards.

  • I found a nokia 8800...whit 1.3MP camera and card slot.It's not sirocco.It's possible?pls help

  • Regarding those that they are faced with BATTERY problem on their Nokia 8800.....just replace your battery with BP-6X (standard battery of 8800 Scirocco) which is Li-Pol instead of the older battery of normal 8800 BL-5X which is Li-ion. Your problem will be solved at least by 50%!! WE have both batteries in stock but it seems tthat after explaining to customers nobody wants to buy the old BL-5X and we need to get rid of those!!

  • Hello,I have a small problem with the volume of voice on my 8800.The other person I am talking to can hardly hear me. Does anyone know how to pull up the volume? Thanks

  • i really want dis phone

  • hey to viking. Does the BP-6X really help because i need a battery solution. Please help me out . Thanx

  • really,,,,a great phone .stylish looks .and i am lucky to have such phone.

  • Great phone, astonishing looks, not so many features but taking into account the fact that a phone is made for making and receiving calls, this phone is all you need. The famous battery problem is solved by switching to BP-6X. I just did and now the standby time with normal use (50min calls a day)is 3 days. Last but not least the battery capacity indication FINALLY works!!! Having solved that one, the only drawback is the price. You must pay a hefty price tag for the looks, the luxury and the build quality. If your wallet can afford it, this is the best phone money can buy (up to 700euros then you have other choices as well...)

  • I love nokia 8800

  • i have just bought the nokia 8800. my battery lasts 2 days . i must be lucky

  • how the hell do you withold your number on this thing?!! I cant find the bloody thing anywhere in the menu!!!

  • Battery life ? battery dead more like....after one day of use !!!!!!

  • I just got 8800,and it's beautifull, but batery life- one day :( Scratch-resistant glass :( I have allready two scratch on display :(

  • This phone has alot of bling, but the battery life is horrible. And scratch-resistant, huh yeah right

  • it is just a little difference with how does it look. but phones dont have any more other differences. i am celling this phones, and people really like them

  • oh, i see. theyre both tri-band but they got different frequencies or whatever.

  • can someone email me and tell me the difference between the 8800 and 8801? i know that the 8800 sirocco looks a bit different and has a better camera, but whats the difference between the regular ones?

  • N8, very usefull comment. Without that battery the phone is a piece of garbage. Thanks

  • it is not worth such a price

  • Worst battery life on any phone ever me and about 10 friends have this phone and we need to charge it at least twice a day useless peice of garbage

  • @ "gzzz" Surely it has 128mb but the camera dont look 2 mega pixel.

  • Are they still offering free BP-6X battery? I just called the customer care, n' they said they'll call me in 48hours. Where can I find the cheapest BP-6X battery? someone pls.. email me

  • @ "dan" If u want to recognize wich is the sirocco and wich is the 8800, u can understand from the camera and the internal memory. 8800 : Camera SVGA, 800x600 pixels Memory 64 MB internal Sirocco : Camera 2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels Memory 128 MB internal So I think its not difficult to recognize it if u make a search on the settings of the phone...

  • Just to further add to the enforcement of switrching batteries to the bp-6x. I have all the battery problems mentioned here until I switched to the new battery. Interesting for me I out my 8800 in for a firmware upgrade and had a general winge at nokia about the battery, nokia replaced the bl-5x with the bp-6x no charge. Intesrting they ( nokia ) did not replace with bl-5x. At present getting 4 - 5 days elapsed with various usage patterns. If your serious about keeping the 8800 long tern then switching ti a bp-6x battery is a must.

  • I was wondering, do any owners of this phone have problems such as the phone reseting by its self or blocking? I'm thinking of buying it but this problem keeps coming up in every review I read. I'm from Serbia and though maybe its a problem with the phones that are bought in this region. Any advice would be helpful. thanks....

  • Do somebody know if I cud instal on my nokia 8800 a software "epitools". This software is requiring a windos qapplication on the mobile?? It is possibile to instal such a soft on this nokia model ?? thankU

  • How can you tell if the nokia 8800 sirocco is fake and its not the real mobile ? for example if someone changed the face from the normal nokia 8800.....

  • Great phone

  • well guys.... it seems that nobody is reading my opinions.... i have used a bp-6x (sirocco) battery in my 8800. it fits fine, it works fine, talk time is 4 hours standby time is 3 to 4 days (depends on use) no trouble at all..... been using it for more than 6 months now and no more battery problem i think nokia will never do it...... thats why i posted many time here but always getting same problem... c'mon guys switch battery and use bp-6x.... and no more complaints .... beleive me.

  • can anyone tell me whether sirocco 8800's battery (BL-6X) can be used in 8800's (BL-5X) phone? as far as i know, the BL-6X battery is thicker than BL-5X.

  • I bought this phone in anticipation of owning the best phone on the market (with the price and everything). However, I was extremely dissapointed. The battery last for lest than a day. Talk time was about 1 hour. Every so often, the phone would freeze or restart all by itself. No expandable memory card slot. POOR camera option. For the price and phone feature, it would be like paying for a Lorenzo and getting a Toyota. Worst PHONE I had ever own. But I'm still sticking with NOKIA. I now have the N91. Let's see how it goes with this one.

  • I just bought a Black Nokia 8800. I always have short battery life. But knowing this fact prior to my purchase it really isn't a issue. But heres the thing every time I am holding my phone when its charging, the touch pad (the thing that controls the mouse on a laptop) wouldn't work. Could it be that there something wrong with this OEM charger that I bought from a local phone store?

  • NOKIA really dissapointed me; i hav this phone about 3mts and tawt the battery was faulty but after checkin this site and readin the comments they jus screwed up wit the battery, this phone is jus for 'S H O W' nevertheless i'm STAYIN WITH NOKIA...wati'll do before buyin any phones that any NOKIA phones is to check this site FIRST cheers

  • your totally right. whats the point having a phone that lasts for an hour. anyone who says this phone is good is just trying to justify the amount of money they spent on an awful phone.

  • if you wat a piece of metal that allows you to talk for maybe an hour, then buy this..nokia had great intentions with this phone, but the result is the total opposite. Buy it if your not going to call anyone or use the phone, its just for looks.

  • i have this phone for more than a year. I always love and apppreciate it. Although not as functional as other cheaper models, I have it because my intention is to use only for voice call, mms and sms. Thats all I need. If I want more function I would buy N series instead. Charging the phone everynight is not a big issue to me, I`ve got time to do that..

  • How many times i have to say this? If you like a phone packed with feature, this phone is not for you. Dont you even know what you're buying? At least read what are the phone feature before you buy it. Not buy it, use it, then complain that it has no feature!

  • i have a nokia 8800 for 2 weeks now and am so frustrated with it. its battery life is shocking and has no features worth talking about. im going back to my sony ericsson w810i which i should have stayed with in the first place. avoid 8800 at all costs.

  • Many of my others phone have that problem, when you wiggle the cord, it starts charging, which is another symptom indicate that the problem is from the charging port in the phone. So just wait for the charger to come and try it, just to be sure, then if it is not working, they just bring it to nokia, they just have to replace the port, nothing big so it shouldnt cost much

  • The thing is, I've heard there are some problems with the dock. So I actually just ordered a extra dock and wall charger from eBay for cheap. The other thing is, don't get me wrong from my post prior to this one. The wall charger does charge, its just that it has to be on a flat surface, or it would stop charging. But once I wiggle the cord around it would begin to charge again. Do you think it could be a problem with the phone itself? I might want to add I am using the charger and dock that came with the phone, and I also live in the U.S would voltage be of any concern?

  • The problem sound it is fron the phone charing port, not the charger, bring it to nokia to have them look at it

  • Is it me or does the desk charger doesn't work unless the spare battery is in? Because when my spare battery isn't in there my phone just keep saying "Not Charging." And also I have some issue with the wall charger too, it sometimes stop charging, then it would all of a sudden again. Thus showering the "Charging" logo every 5 minutes. I was wondering because I bought the phone online, would it be that I live in America and the output or what not is different? Can this be a factor?

  • Having just read some of the comments about poor battery life & the quietness of this phone i'm quite suprised. I've had mine well over a year, only ever used one of the (2) supplied batteries and still get 3 days life from it. As for the quietness mine had never been quiet and is in fact as loud as every other phone (and thats a lot) I have owned. This phone has proved to be the most reliable and best performing of all i've had. Its easy to use & i'm not interested in extra fancy gadgets, I want a phone to be just that, a phone. It still looks almost new & continues to perform well. To those that rubbish it, fair enough you may want extra goodies such as huge memories & excellent cameras but this phone was never designed to give those so get over it & buy something you will be happier with. Its a fantastic phone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion & you just had mine.

  • Mine got ran over - long story - It sill works - just need to get the screen fixed. Well Done Nokia

  • hi guys many ppl have asked me about using sirocco battery in 8800..... yes it can be used wiyhout any modification and worry. i m using it and i charge my phone once in 3 days,,,, dont beleive it... try t for yourself with original sirocco battery BP-6X... can email me n e time

  • well just love it because it is a luxury and not common. the camera of course is not clear and am not particular about that also the tones ain t loud but guess wot at my age i always put my phone on vibration wc is gud enough for me. in uk today a new one is 350 and for fairly used 170. it is good for me and meet my requirement for now. the only advice i have nokia should compensate all users if they can am a club member anyway.cheers!!

  • is realy vorks baterry from sirocco

  • Whoa... Thailand? Awesome that it was so cheap to fix there but any other way besides going there? Thx for answering!

  • I've been using this phone, and I love it. I freaking HATE the battery life, but so does everyone who owns it. Jade1 - I cracked my screen once, but I got it fixed for only $23. It's cheap in Thailand. I also made sure I put one of those stickers on the screen which prevents it from getting all those finger prints and scratches. I'm waiting for a new cell. Hopefully, they'll come out with something nice and awesome battery.

  • I have this phone too & love it, but am having same probs that you guys have. Horrid battery life AND my screen got scratched and now cracked! Any suggestions?? Nokia customer care SUCKS!

  • i think its beter choice for those ppl who are rich but i cnt afford that kind of phone coz i m not ready to bought that phone. i have only wish that May i bought this phone................. but it is just a wishhhh...... thanks

  • heeey guys i had resolve the problem of the battery usage!!!! i had bought 2 non official nokia battries on solware.co.uk!!! they are 1000mah!! now i can use it to full potential with bluetoof gprs ect ... it just don't go down and when it empties i had the ohter!!!! lol For the extra low volume ringtone i had download a beep which trancends the limit of sound!!! now my 8800 is better than my old k 700i thrust me on this guys!!!!

  • Dont be hating when you cant afford it.

  • Nonsense. Paying so much just for its design, pfft. Strongly discourage anyone buying this phone. Unless you are filthy rich, forget about buying this one. Not worth the penny.

  • when im buying it, i have a little doubt, but when i recieved it,i cant stop holding it! Battery isnt good as my n73, but much better than my stealth!

  • i bought one for $342 two days ago. At the first glance it seemed to be styled for an assasin lol BUT DON'T BE FOOL this is the worst energy saving phone ever thus this affect it's riability ! it says stanby time 190 hours!! don't make me laugk nokia on a mix usage i use 3 batt bl-5x 600mah just for the run but i love this mobile because ti is stylish, rock solid and it will still be on the run 10 years after you buy it 4 1/2 stars on 5 {the 1'2 is for the batt consumption

  • Got a used one for $350 off ebay. It is sleek, my mom doesnt even know how to use a camera phone, so this phone is perfect for her :D To who ever bough a special edition for $500, the price is ok,it is more expensive because it is rare, that is it, it is litterally the 100% the same as the 8800

  • i just buy one today i must say only one thing: it is awesome if you forget about the poor power conservation the frequent messages of insert your sim card and the too low volume ringtones lol

  • this phone gives great emphasis to the phrase "looks can be decieving". although the phone does present a sleek and sophosticated look, the features are horrible. the phone is really below average, and the worst thing about the phone is its volume. HORRIBLE! I could barely hear a thing while talking, and even when u put it on speaker phone its not loud at all. nokia should really consider a re-call on this phone. NOT RECOMENDED!!

  • Hey Guys Nokia 8800 is a great look of Luxury. But it not worth to buy a too much expensive phone only for luxury. This phone doesn't have a card slot & even no data cable can be attched & half mega pixel camera. So now u think is it worthful?? Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just purchased a Nokia 8800 Black edition on eBay for $500USD. Is that price worth it for the price? Please give me your regards to my decision no matter what your opinion is. Thanks!

  • the best design ever !!! :X:X:X

  • hey guys, my 8800 says "insert sim" or "sim card rejected" from time to time. whats the best firmware for this phone? im using v4.1 lmk thanks guys

  • this is excellent phone in every feature but the battery is the worst part of it.it signle sometimes go up and then down

  • the original 8800 is better than the sirocco for 1 reason..the navigation control..the origninal has that scroll thing..but sirocco hss those rubbish buttons.....always buy original not fake...buy the original 8800..instead of sirocoo..

  • Hi what is the average talk time on 8800 ?>

  • YEa the phone shut off by itself and the battery life is terrible. Especially after bluetooth it switch off. Is there a update to the nokia 8801

  • What is a built in memory card? is it removable? I want to upgrade is that possible?

  • Does anybody know what the active devices button actually does, i don't know if i have a fault but when i click on the menu it just says empty and and you can only go back?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • this is far from luxury - i purchased a beautiful CEO piece from www.continentalmobiles.com this is something else!

  • Yes guys..... I personally shifted from BP 5 X to BP 6X..... and i am using it for now over than a month, no problem at all..... actually both batteries have 3.7 V, only difference is BP5X has 600 mAH (i dont think so) and BP6X has 700 mAH.... with same 3.7 V... so no problem.... I replaced mine with BP6X and no problem..... my standby time has doubled from 1 day to 3 and some time 4 days (4 days in case i dont travel many)... talk time is great... so believe me... want more details..... just email me at [email protected]

  • Yes guys sure...... Sirocco battery works great in 8800..... as i already told you all that battery time (standby + talk time) simply doubles..... in reality it is more than that...... dont believe it,,,, just try with sirocco BP-6X original battery i can bet in improvement of timing.... atleast one good thing NOKIA did in sirocco version.... The Nokia customer care does NOT recommend the use of 8800 Sirocco BP 6X battery on the 8800. They insist that BL 5X only should be used. I would like some feedback from those of you who have switched batteries. THank you.

  • it`s a good phone ;) represent luxury but in these world are many theaf`s ;)

  • O Rly? The phone is too expensive. It dosen't have a card slot. Camera resolution - small. And the list continues. I wouldn't advise you to buy it!

  • At this price I prefer a SE P990i for example with a big-ass touchscreen, 3G, WLAN, 2Mp Camera with autofocus. Also... only 64 mb memory with no extension card slot. The "stainless" steel case needs intensive care to keep those fingerprints away. Most people buy it because if it's expensive must be smart, well, it isn't, it's incredibly stupid. Waste of money :))

  • By far the best phone I've ever had. Its reception is great in comparison to the Motorola RAZR and SLVR I had before the 8800. If you want to be occupied with a lot of features, this isn't the phone for you. But functionally, it works great. They battery life is not really an issue for me, as I charge it every night and don't really talk on the phone everyday for extended periods of time. Even so, if I go on an overnight trip, I just bring the extra battery that comes with the phone. Its not a phone for everyone, but if you don't spend all day everday on your cell phone, and if you don't need a 3 megapixel camera, lots of games, etc. then I would definitely recommend this phone.

  • To Search for Bluetooth devices: Make sure that you have a bluetooth adapter capable of detecting multiple accessories and the software installed on your PC. On the phone, goto > settings > connectivity > Bluetooth > On Acivate the BTooth software and and connect the bluetooth device to your PC. Open PC Suite for Nokia (should be pre-installed from the CD) and follow instructions.

  • Fantastic phone! The only problem is that people assume your rich when you use it...

  • I love this phone it looks great in and out of your pocket! the battery problem is a big one but i got round it by buying a 1000 mAh battery i get a good three days out of it now !

  • the phone have a wonderfull look .the memory is not big enough the option is not as good as it suppose to be. the worth thing ever is both batteries, both won't last for 10 min talking time, standby tim is not that important to me

  • I have a gold 8800 Scir Ed. The phone is beautiful but it is overpriced. I has a short battery life. It has a lot of quirks and doesn't even have a normal non musical ring tone loaded on the phone. It is the Super Model of phones but it doesn't have much to offer when you really get to know the phone.

  • This phone is terrible looks good but poor features battery life is useless even with both batteries. Such a let down from Nokia and heavily overpriced.

  • To add a voice tag go you names list, Pick a name and click details, then click options with the highlight on the phone number. Scroll down to add voice tag and follow instructions, hope this helps!!! Now can someone help me plz, how do u search for active bluetooth devices

  • Will someone please let me know how to activate a 'voice tag'. Thks.

  • I think NOKIA 6310i , mine batt lasted about 9-16 days :) full talk time...

  • I got this phone for my birthday. I took it out of the box, charged it and was checking out the menu but then it restarted all of a sudden. This kept happening until i gave it back to the shop. They did a firmware update but still this problem kept on happening. I finally got really frustrated and sold it. After that I got myself a Samsung X820.. Recently I sold it and now I'm on a nokia 1100 and waiting for Nokia Aeon to come cause Nokia Aeon is one design beast and it Rules 8800.

  • hey guys, i love this phone but jeeze, the themes are lame. does anyone know how to get a blank theme? i can set the display background to white (none) but the theme still dominates when reading the menus, and text messaging. i've tried and tried but there's no way to set it to NO THEME. anyone have any sites that are not full of spam that i can download a simple theme? also, GOD all i want is a simple low ringer...and not all these freaking hippie space age tones. i'm on the USA tmobile network. HELP!!!

  • Somebody help me...im goin mad ive got the nokia 8800, can someone plzz tel me if you search for other bluetooth devices, you can serch for audio enhancements such as bluetooth dongle but what about other ppls fones with bt switched on.

  • Have had this phine for 18 months am on my 3rd battery and today it lasts for about 20 minutes from fully charged the battery metre shows half full and wham out of charge. If anyone knows which phone has the longest battery life let me know. Ray

  • Hi, i have the lg chocolate and i'm thinking to change it with this nokia model. I do not regret that i bought the lg but this nokia is soooo hot. The only thing i need to know is if the sound is loud enoug ex when u play mp3 as a ringtone? Should i get the nokia 8800 or should i stick with the lg???

  • Yes guys sure...... Sirocco battery works great in 8800..... as i already told you all that battery time (standby + talk time) simply doubles..... in reality it is more than that...... dont believe it,,,, just try with sirocco BP-6X original battery i can bet in improvement of timing.... atleast one good thing NOKIA did in sirocco version....

  • The design is beautiful. The gold version is the best looking phone out there. It is very durable. The graphics are very good. At least it has a camera, even though it's 0.5. Some phones don't even have a camera. It has video too. Some camera phones don't even have video. The screen is bright, and it slides. At least it also has blue tooth. The price dropped nicely too. It went from $1,250 Canadian, to $400.00 Canadian. That bargained price is the same as the over priced, retail price at Malls, for the Motorola V3 Razr. The charger looks cool too. It has a radio, where other phones do not even have radio. The battery problem can be changed by putting a Sirocco battery. As for the scratching problem, you could put a screen protector on the body of the phone. But function wise, this phone sucks. If you are the type of person that only uses phones for calling, and you like nice phones, then buy this price. Remember that everything in life is over priced. 50% of your yearly makings are taxed. Too many fees, and things that should be free, are at cost. If you are going to try to be cheap, and buy a $50.00 phone (yet some people, who are short-minded, rack up the phone bill to $300.00 a month, and own a $50.00 phone), and try to play the game where you overly try to save as much money as possible, even though you still waste 95% of it on fees, taxes, over priced object, theft, et cetera, then stick with one of those fat, ugly $40.00 virgin, black and white virgin mobile phones. If you can afford it, buy this phone. If you don't like it, then why have you bothered to post your negative comments?

  • does replacing the battery with a sirocco battery really work?

  • Hi guys...this is the first handphone i use it just for 12 hours and then trade it in with another handphone in the same day. The problem is THE BAAAAAAAtTTTRY. I thing this handphone is good to be your accompanied when you go for official occasions(for 2-6 hours) to show your status and when you go back home keep in your desk drawer for the next occassion. If you seek a daily use and heavy duty handphone I ADVICE you don't GOOOOOOOOOOO for this handphone.

  • Whats newest firmware?? for 8800/8801 usa etc..

  • what firmware are you guys one??

  • this phone rulzzzzzzzz i love ittttt nothing can beat its style its rocksss

  • I don`t undersand people who say not to buy this phone...why do i need these unuseful options?? the cellphone is a necesary attribute, like a watch..I have an 8800, and it`s the best celular i`ve ever had.Smartphones are for little kids who want to play games..

  • This phone is the worst phone I ever seen , it cost 800$ and it have a SVGA camera , it doesn't have 3G , doesn't have Infrared , no memory card slot

  • JUST SAY NO! waste of money due to BATTERY!!!I actually had this phone for 2 days and realized it was not worth the $400.00. It is an expensive phone and looks quite nice, but gets tired very quickly. The video memory is the best, especially for a phone, as for BATTERY! NO NO NO NO NO, THE BATTERY POWER IS CRAZY, AND I SHOULDVE KNOWN, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAME WITH 2. IT SAYS TALK TIME UP TO 3 HOURS, BUT REALLY ITS LESS THAN 1 HOUR OF TALK TIME, BECAUSE I TESTED IT OUT MYSELF, its embarrasing to carry 2 batteries for 1 phone, and have to charge one, just when you just used it for only 30 min, then after 30 min with the new phone, you have 2 dead batteries for 1 hour of talk time. make sure you guys look at the talk time before purchasing fashion phones from Nokia, because now Nokia is releasing a whole line of fashion phones with the least amount of battery and talk time. Just like the Nokia 7280. The average talk time is 5-7 hours like motorola. GET WITH THE PROGRAM YALL!!!

  • wow 8800 is the greatest looking phone ever made.It looks better than sirocco

  • GREAT NEWS FOR EVERY ONE Nokia released sirocco.... with BP-6X battery. this battery is 700 mAh as compared to BP-5X with 8800 with 600 mAh... If you use sirocco battery on your 8800 (ofcourse you have to buy a genuine one BP-6X) the standby time doubles as well as talk time.... I have done it and i have no more battery and charging problems..... Nice thing NOKIA improved in SIROCCO

  • I had problems with the phone not charging properly, the head set, and the screen is really easy to crack. I recommend you keep this phone at home on a pedestal, if you want it to last.

  • its a great looking phone i do not have one but i go to fido every week to look at it, fido gives you to batterys becasue the battery is not very good and they also offer a 2 year warrenty as compared to alot of phones that offer just the 1 year. nokias have always been a durable phone and i plan on getting the nokia 8800

  • phone has bettery probs.big time

  • Well, this phone is extremely stylish, very sophisticated. However the speaker phone is very average, have to put it next to my ear to hear a voice! Ring tones are very weird and eccentric, i uploaded a song and set it as my ringtone. Picture quality is ok , not the best. One big drawback is that after a while dirt and lint gets on the screen and basically impossible to clean, i had it in the pouch for 2 months but still dirt made its way in. on the otherhand, its a very strong phone, hard to break ! This phone gets 7/10 because it doesn`t have anything special software wise.

  • It's just an expensive phone. 6233 has more features, better design and cost less !

  • I have one...it s very special but the battery doesnt last more than 12 hours..is it only my phone or all of them are like that?i need advice...

  • i just bought this phone a few days ago.I would give 9 points from 10 for design,9 for sound quality,6 for options( very avarage) Basically you paying just for the design.still i love it,i have no regrets of buying it

  • wow!it is really a beautiful phone for the matured minds and people with class over here in nigeria. One can hardly see it aroud only once a while.

  • i like it it's really 4 elite i got one

  • when i slide down my phone...it seems to take forever to get to the screensaver...does anyone know if i can change that, so i can see the screensaver faster thxs

  • Had the 8800 for 2 weeks. Must say its an extremely beautiful phone for people who just want a phone for basic phone functions. The battery life initially is really bad but it improves a lot after 3-4 charging cycles. The buttons are quite cramped but you will get used to it after a few days and its not so bad as the reviews describe. The Menu key is a bit raised compared to the Navi keys so its not that difficult to press if you use the tip of your thumb carefully. Has anyone had any experiences dropping the phone on a hard floor or managed to scratch the screen? Also does the 8800 Sirocco battery fit the 8800? Anyone?

  • what a Great looking phone. wow!! nokia have done it again with this phone. the only thing to spoil it is the terrible battery life. O well still a great phone!!

  • dont buy it...awful battery

  • I am struggling to hear a caller, the volume seems to control the ring tone only. Any advice??

  • I well buy one coooooooooool phon

  • i've heard really terrible things about the battery life for this phone....does anybody have any first hand experience with it?

  • this phone is very stylish and luxury its nice but its well suited for models, boss, celebrity and doesnt have time for mp3, picture taking and fun. i guess nokia have cellphone for everyone :)

  • This phone can be used in Asia GSM network(Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore etc...) Yes this phone is extremely durable and it does not have all the fancy features such as extended memory or 3MP camera. The phone itself is a work of art, mostly to look good, easy to use and have all "phone" features. For more information, please visit or Any question, please email me. I will try to answer fast.

  • @ shizzledizzle im still waiting for my phone...but still 3 second in the water lol...with the weight that this phone is carrying, it sunk DOWN lolll but thats good...shows how strong this phone is

  • I have altered my review of this phone 3 times. Initially, i was disapointed with the buttons layout, lack of features and design flaws. However, this phone is EXTREMELY durable. I have dropped this phone 100s of times and provided it isnt on concrete no scratches appear. Even concrete 4 foot drops only scratch, do not dent. Last week, I drowned this phone in the bath, good 3 second soak. After sticking it on the radiator, the phone runs like new. Is this little gem utterly indestructable?

  • Does this phone works in Usa and Europe also? I am thinking to buy it over the net so i need to know. Thank you.

  • My friend has the 8801 and I have the 8800 and his phone doesn't fit in my desk charger when my phone fits in his, so I think the 8801 is a bit thicker than the 8800.

  • theres only luxury n nothin else. no memory slot, no camera flash n not even infrared

  • The network that cingular provide is 800/900/1800/1900. Will 8800 or 8801 work in these networks?

  • Please anybody can tell me that if i can use Nokia 8800 Siccorro battery in my 8800. I heard sicorro battery is very good.... please help.,...

  • nokia 8800 : GSM 900 1800 1900 and nokia 8801 : GSM 850 1800 1900 .. find out what GSM network do you have in that in that aria and buy one of these phones .. another thing different is that the 8801 has 12h clock and 8800 24h clock :P so..i think thats all :)

  • It's a luxury phone! It's very cool ...

  • Please can anyone tell me what's the difference between the Nokia 8800 & the 8801? Which one should i buy & why? Which one can be use in asia(Vietnam)??? Thx a lot, really appreciate peeps

  • This is a great phone! I have dropped it a few times and would like to know how to remove scratches. any ideas? Jeweler? does nayone know if the stainless is only on the surface or is it like a stainless elevator door that can be sanded and re-polished?

  • This is a grat phone! I have dropped it a few times and would like to know how to remove scratches. any ideas? Jeweler? does nayone know if the stainless is only on the surface or is it like a stainless elevator door that can be sanded and re-polished?

  • this fone is beautiful, but it sucks.picture is bad.and then its so exspensive.come on man

  • really elegant phone... otherwise, hopeless with its battery energy and the memory.. like a beautiful woman with a small capacity of brain.. know, wat i mean??

  • i believe that when u slide it, u also have to press speak...read it in the manuel

  • do you know if this phone nokia 8800 have a defect or not?? my ringtone dont work even tho i set it to ring.

  • can you tell me if this phone opens up with automatic opener or you have to slide it?

  • @ Andrei the difference between the 2 models are that 8801 is for north america 850mhz and the 8800 is 900mhz so more suitable for like other countries out of north america...like hong kong japan china indoneisia etc

  • please can anyone tell me about the difference between 8800 and 8801

  • Hey i just got this phone, and i have nothing bad to say against it,just the battery life is kinda dissapointing, hey, but thats why they`ve put in the box two batteries, just in case.Yeah its got the looks but, lets face it,this phone does not deserve its price tag. I also have a n80,but i very dissapointed because it keeps ressetting all the time, but its brand new and when its not ressetting, its moving real slow,i took it back to the warranty and they flashed it with the latest software,it stopped ressetting, but its still a very slow phone. I`ve been a nokia customer for some years now,but i'm dissapointed in they`re way of building these phones, they only seem to care on selling them, not on the quality that nokia used to give to they` phones thanks!

  • I've been considering to buy a Nokia 8800, to be used in between the following countries: (1) Australia, (2) Indonesia, (3) Malaysia, and (4) Singapore. The phone will be used for work purposes. The other day, however, a work colleague in my offer offered to sell his Nokia 8801 (yes, not mistyped, a Nokia '8801': the North American Market version of the Nokia 8800), with a very appealing price tag that is considerably lower than the Nokia 8800. The main difference is that the 8801 has no e-mail facility, and that it operates in the North American GSM Frequency of 850/1800/1900 rather than that of the GSM Frequency of 900/1800/1900 found outside of North America. Will purchasing the Nokia 8801 over the Nokia 8800 (and saving a considerable amount of dollars) have any technical and operational downsides and abnormalities, when being used between (1) Australia, (2) Indonesia, (3) Malaysia, and (4) Singapore? Any help in explaining and determining whether I should save some money and go for the Nokia 8801 over the Nokia 8800 - or going straight for the Nokia 8800 - would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to all your comments, cheers!

  • the battery life sucks on this phone. it dies quickly.

  • wat bluetooth headsets are compatible to this phone?? thxs for ur time =]

  • I got my 8800 2 months back, and the handset just hangs in the middle while doing anything. Be it calling..Smsing.. The care centeres tell me that its a high end phone so Software is not easily available and all crap. Some one has a similar experience. I better change my brand loyality to some other celll phone provider like SONY. Rgds Ash

  • Hello to all current Nokia 8800 users: Does anybody know how to get the Nokia 8800 Software via the internet (i.e. downloaded?). I recently bought the Nokia 8800, but after my young nephew went through the box, the software CD has been misplaced (thankfully, the phone is still with me). I'm located in East Java - Indonesia. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers to all, and greetings from Indonesia!

  • Very naspa phone!

  • I can send stuff to the phone via bluetooth from my computer, but I can't seem to send stuff from my phone to my computer by bluetooth what is the problem"?

  • this phone is the crappiest phone ever..ok, i admit it has a nice look & all but seriously, the fonctions are bad ! the battery life is very back, i have to charge it almost every 5hours ! and sometimes, it doesnt wanna charge. the camera is crappy ! for the price you pay, i think you can get better. also, the reception is bad. so this phone, i give it an 6/10

  • If looks is all your looking for, this phone plays its part. Its something everyone wants;and for those complaining about its functionality, they dont have one.

  • hi avve here i hv used tis fone n i lv it it just so kewlll

  • ive had the 8800, n90 and a few others. I found that the 8800 (as everyone may now know) a crappy battery life. It was probably one of the best phones i've had, so i've passed it onto by lil bro who really wanted it. now im using the 6233 which not only looks like half a 8800, but has kik ass features and the battery is still going!!! but yeah, the 8800 is a sweet phone... many people were too cautious about using my phone, let alone touching it

  • This phone is wicked, Alright it has not got the memory, so what. when you got the looks memory does not matter. and the design of this phone is the best. A**********

  • i'm luvin it :P

  • Eric, for a start this phone is chunkier and bigger than a d600. I am sure people would prefer to buy a D600 for 150 quid, than a 8800 plus ipod for 700 quid; unless they have too much money and they dont know what to do with it, which is like handly noone. But i do admit ur rite in that nokia will get a few sales, from people who want to show that they have money. But considering how much money was spent by nokia to develop this phone, nokia have got it completely wrong, and infact have lost money bringing this phoneonto the market.

  • yeah the shop price is quite high indeed :) ... any suggestions or offers to get a new one a little cheaper :) could also be a Sirocco edition. thanks

  • Sayinthen (RGS)- Yeah you could do that, but this phone in gangster. . . Buyign it for the sake of buying it, its just cool. . . Some tiems peopel get caught up in the features of thier phone. . .Then they buy an ipod n relaise they dont want a chunky phone to do a few extra things n jsut wnat a small good lookign phone that will keep its price and be gangsta...its way kooler to slide than a d600 And the fact that you could buy 3 d600 for the price of this one tells you anotehr thing

  • does anyone knows how can i get new themes for this phone? where can i download them? thanx!!

  • I work at a phone shop... both the 8800 and the sirocco are aimed at people who want to look good and they want people to know they have a lot of money.. as for the price... the rrp is waaay above cost price, it is VERY negotiable :d

  • This phone is a joke. It is seriously overpriced, and i swear my D600 both looks better and performs better than this phone. Noone in the right frame of mind would buy this phone! You could buy 3 top range phones, i.e D600, N80, E900, instead of buying this phone. It would be like a 100 times more worth it. What has this phone actually got that makes it very special?

  • i would just like to ask if this phone can use mp3 as ringtone

  • Have used the phone for one week now. It's a T-Mobile USA version 8801. They gave it to me at a huge discount. They will negotiate. Anyway, some of the problems mentioned in these postings are not true--for me. Performance: Same as my Razr V3 and Samsung D500 and D600 Features: Same as most phones--but I must admit the menus are not as intuitive as Samsung. However, still better than the Razr V3 Camera: Better than Razr but much less than the D600. Sony would be the clear winner. Design: Elegent. I have smaller hands, so the size of the keys are not that much of a problem. However, they are a bit cramped at times. Battery: Lasts all day with only one. Signal: Same coverage and signal as all my other phones. Cleaer voice. Bluetooth has no problems and works better than on the Samsung. Has more bluethooth features than Razr. Price: You don't have to pay so much. And unlocked Euro version is a different story. Overall: It's a nice phone but a bit over priced; this is due to the construction. So, the same phone in plastic would be free to the masses. Needs: Memory Card Slot and included cable for PC. Extra: Software for Macintosh.

  • hi..ı change my n91 to 8800 but ıts not good phone only looks good..not memory and camers enough:(

  • well it should stay at a high price phones like these i for one wouldn't buy it if i see everyone around carrying it aswell even tho if they made more colors. its nice to be different

  • The price of this phone will course the sales to be very low.The market now is at the hand of razor because this phone is too expensive.I like this phone but i didnt afford to buy and i decided to take Razor V3.

  • This phone is too expensive! It is better to buy Razor because it is affordable and have nearly similar features.

  • nokia 8800 it suck i buy not even a month, when charge it not working.recomand do not buy 8800

  • the overall design of the fone is nice n elegant. materials used is with quality n have read that some materials used like the bearings were borrowed from porsche, german sports exotics. however the battery life is terrible. using it for less than a year, and the battery breaks down.I only get around less than 30 MIN talk time at a full charge. planning to get a new replacement battery, cost me around 45 US$. unlikely for Nokia to produce such a low quality battery for such a great designed fone.

  • i was thinking about getting this phone but, looking at the features it looks like a low-end to mid range phone.. it doesnt even look that nice.. SO why is it so expensive?

  • i will like to have it

  • gun metal looks better in my perspective but black is truely nice too but i got the regular steel one

  • hi guys, i am planning to get this phone but i am just wandering from the forum, i read that there are black and gun metal colour for this phone.black and gun metal is that the same colour or two different colour??which one is better?? thanks...

  • nevermind i found the answer and yes i am answering my own comment >< plus if you guys are having same problem with find ur own firmware on ur phone just click *#0000# it will direct you to what firmware you have

  • is there a way to check my own fireware

  • wtf i wouldn't use a cheap headset if i had this phone cuz i would like to bring it out and show off with it put it next to my face and wow can i see ur phone nice shizt lol...

  • I have been using the 8801 for about a month now and here is my comment about it. (1)I pick the 8801 because I did not care about advance features like mp3 player, PDA, and other non phone related functions. All I wanted was a simple phone that is design small and built with quality material. (2)Menu software that doesn't delay or lock up and easy to use.(3)Good Bluetooth range because I use the headset all the time.(4)Good battery life. First of all the phone has the worst Bluetooth range of any phone that I have ever try and use. The bluetooth started to static within 5' in clear view. I use my phone when its charging while I'm doing other things in my home or office. If you hold the phone with your hand covering the back antenna then it will started to distort. I have try 5 different brands of headset with the same result. I know the phone is not defective because I have try a few 8801 with same result. I have access to and use most GSM phone because I'm a retail wireless dealer. Overall I would really like use the phone but the bluetooth performance is very dissappointed. The battery life is ok but could be better. Great design but needs to fix the bluetooth problem. The problem could be that the housing is stainless steel and its shielding the bluetooth signal from working effectively. Great phone if you don't use the Bluetooth headset.

  • hi mobile fans .its just a good looking phone hasn't got extra features.

  • so wot is the latest firmwire out for this phone?

  • Bought this phone because I love nokia and I'm not bothered about the techie side of things. I know its got a lousy camera but I have a good digital camera for that! I bought the phone to make calls and maybe the odd text but to my disappointment the thing cant even do just that!! The battery bar indicator is pointless! They might as well just put one battery block indicating Full or empty! Nokia, you need to pick up your game! I noticed the release of the sirocco which I probably would have bought. After my experience with the 8800, There's no chance of that happening. Now I've gone back to using my trusty 6230 and the 8800 stays at home. Pointless.

  • Ii our Region / east Europe / the latest software is 4.10. MR - 13. I recently update my phones....

  • thank you flip very helpful

  • jKrG: The firmware version depends on your specific model of phone, the country you are and the language you are using. The best thing you can do is to call your local Nokia office and ask about. Regards.

  • what's the latest firmware

  • I hate this phone, i have alot of problems with the battory, took Noika 3 weeks to replace battory and i still have the same problem. Nokia told me there no data cable connect it to my pc with. i can only take my pic's off it with bluetooth which often fails. The camera if awefully unclear comparied to alot of other phones which are in cheaper end of the market. I was ripped off. its no good @ all. i've had afew other phones since, thou teh case on the 8800 makes the other phones feel like toys.... Not Nokia's best value for money phone. If i didnt have all these problems i would have upgraded to the 8800se, but now i am untrusting of new nokia high end phones.

  • Is there a powerfull battery for this phone?? because the standard battery is very junk as well as the phone is too expensive for what he knows to do.

  • Though a good looking phone but the battery life if rubbish and Nokia is very unhelpful to assist to rectify the problem. My phone lasts 4 hours a day then need recharging! I think the black version is just as bad!

  • 8800 still the best looking phone on the market up till this minute......even include the 8800 Sirocco in comparison!

  • its very good phone and have full features any one like it to found

  • been awhile now has anynew firmware been up yet? about the lcd burning out has it been fix yet??

  • nice cell phone

  • To: TRZp Thanks. I was a bit worried.

  • To:Celtic How could I not think of that?!?! stupid of me lol. Thanks for the tip!!!

  • my battery is due to i usually use it too call up someone and talk for 2-5min hang up etc.. charge every single day. probably in a day i use my phone less then 20min

  • Love everything about this phone EXCEPT the stupid battery. Phone says fully charged and when go to answer it it switches itself off because the battery is low! Battery life not long enough.

  • Due to the fact that my opinion is concerning both phones / 8800 and 8800Sirocco / Im posting it in both sections Today I have played with 8800Sirocco for about 40 minutes and I have following opinion about it: Positive: - Yes it is better equipped / camera, memory/ in comparison with the original 8800 - Yes the keyboard is a bit easier to use in comparison with the original 8800 - Yes the battery is slightly bigger, but I dont thing this will affect the battery life that much Negative: - I dont like the design; this is personal issue butI truly believe that the original 8800 looks better - Build quality is the most critical point to me, honestly to me the Sirocco is not the same as the original 8800, to me it is clear that used materials are not the same. - The metal parts are completely polished and look extremely dirty in few minutes usage only Conclusion perfect marketing product of Nokia, they create a real story based on 8800 and now they simply came out with the same product, but lower production costs. In order to add some additional value they have included Bluetooth, letter case, but believe me, this things cost nothing if you have order thousand pieces of them to the Chinese suppliers By the way the regular retail price in Bulgaria is 1100 Euro. Based on my conclusion I went directly into the shop that have offered to me 8800 Special Addition for less than 600 Euro and I took it immediately. By the way the sound / ringtones and build in handsfree / of the Special Edition is a bit louder than the original 8800. Both are with firmware V 4.10 RM-13 Regards to all 8800 users

  • Nikoz : Definately agree with you. Although I have both the original 8800 & Sirocco; I found the original 8800 design much more elegant & clean looking.

  • To : Gunslinger_ul, Your gun metal 8800SE have no problem. It's the new design only for the gun metal 8800SE.

  • I have one question for the 8800SE (gun metal color) owners: on the back side, underneath the camera lens, where the regular 8800 has a mirror-like surface, does yours have it aswell? 'Cos mine doesn't have it and I was wondering if it's a common thing of the 8800SE or it's just mine having a flaw :)

  • i found out the problem the xtra battery it charges sideways =P and the blue light tells u when it is charging so haha everyday learning a lil more bout this phone i love the way it looks p.s. if u guys didn;'t find out yet the volume is adjustable when ur in a call by pressing left or right on the navigation key

  • this phone sucks. i paid more than 1200 dollars for it before i came out in canada and the battery life is horrible. i hate this freken phone.

  • the desktop charger for just the battery is so wierd i dont know if its ever charging, maybe atlleast it might show some hotness by me touching it but doesn't so i never really know its charging i left it there for 3 days now i jus recently got this phone, its great just waiting for them to fix fireware problem my timer dont move in standby mode...

  • My Friend, you just have to turn you battery 90 and it will perfectly fit in your desktop charger. Regards

  • Is it just me or the extra battery pack for this phone doesnt fit on the desk charger?!?!?!?!?! why is that?

  • About the battery My friend did not tell me what the reason is, he just told me it is not possible. I did not say that the reason is in the battery, I assume there are some minor differences between both desktop charging stations. Even the plug system is different and as far as Im familiar with this matter, inside of the station there is a kind of software/switch that prevent the battery from overchargingthis might be the reason I dont know. If I get more information Ill let you know Noika 8xxx the best looking phones ever produced:-)))

  • Why coulndn't the new battery be charged with the desk charger? if you say it's identical to the old one?

  • i agree the SE isn't so appealing i find that this one is simplier

  • So the most interesting topic to me is about the new batteryI have a friend in Nokia Bulgaria and he told me that the new BP-6X has exactly the same size and pin structure as the old BL-5Xso it is possible to be used in the old 8800. The only problem is that the new battery cannot be charged with the desktop charger, it must be charged directly from the regular Nokia chargerIm looking forward to buy the new batteryit will solve the only problem of 8800, the battery life. Because Ill not change it for 8800SE, I simply did not find the new design more attractive and in some ways it looksstrange to me. I think that old 8800s design is much simple and cleanerRegards to all 8800 users

  • heard that the battery of 8800 sirocco can be used with 8800 as well. can anyone confirm this good news?

  • So, is there an EFR code for the 8800?

  • how would i check the firmware myself on this phone??

  • it is very easy: *#0000# and you are ready...

  • how would i check the firmware myself on this phone???

  • to CELTIC: Thanks a lot, I will do that and hopefully will help to expand the battery time. Peoples do that and thanks everybody to Celtic, and stop complainig whitout the knowledge. Everybody who just complainig and they dont know anything about the problem are idio.s :-)

  • Peter: Thanks a lot for your comment. My best advice is to charge for the first time with the phone turned off ot even better to take the battery out of the phone and charge it with the desktop charger included in the box. If you have a battery that is not working properly and not too old, it is possible to refresh it by letting it drain completely, until the phone turns off and then do a first time charge. After a few cycles, the battery should regain most of the initial capacity.

  • This phone (with o2) is 424.99 (to buy full price in-contract) and from what I've heard, it's not even worth 150. For what it is, it's a bit of an anti-climax. 1.3MP Camera, bad battery life, almost no talk-time... Why would you even bother?!?!

  • to Celtic Thanks a lot for explanation. One more question. It means that first time I need to charge battery when is phone turn off or doesnt matter and the phone can be turn on? Once again thank you and have a nice day

  • Im agreeing with Chez and CelticI did his with my 8800 and now I have about two days with one of the batteries only. People; please spend some time to explore what you have to do with your phone in order to set up your mobile properly and complainto me 8800 is the best phone money can buy

  • In other words u flush out the battery, so it could last longer.

  • Peter: The system works this way. When the new battery comes out of the factory, needs a special charge time to prepare the cells to operate at full charge. The whole life of the battery depends on this first charge. Phones and desktop chargers have a safety function to prevent the battery to be overcharged and works stopping fast charge when the battery reaches 90%, at this moment you will receive a complete charge notification, the remaining 10% will be charged in a slow charge cycle that can take several hours, when the battery reaches 100% the device will stop sending electricity to the battery. The initial 10 hours cycle is intendes to let the battery to charge at full and then permit the sensors to establish the real limit of it.

  • To Chez... Hi I have been told by N8800 care line that phone has got a function when is battery full charge it`s stop charging and phone does not let you over charge battery. My question then is what is the point to keep phone in charger for 10 hours if is not charging anyway? Thanks for answer

  • Lots of people saying the battery is poor which isnt the case. The battery needs to be charged for 10 hours before the phone is switched on for the very first time. If not the phone will assume that the battery is at full power. This means that when you charge it, it will only charge to the power level that the battery was at when you first turned it on. So if the battery only had 50% charge when first switched on, you will only ever have 50% charge (because the phone thinks its full). Thats why the battery seems poor Not sure why this happens but was told this by a senior member of nokias tech team. I charged both batteries for 10 hours when i first got my 8800 (which was fustrating cause i just wanted to switch it on and have a play)and my battery life is really good. I would say im a medium user and get a good 3 days between charges. If you have a 8800 and havent done this (and your battery life is poor) there is nothing you can do except buying a new one!

  • how would i check what fireware my phone has??

  • this whole 'dead pixel' business is rubbish... my phone is 12 months old and i use the power saver mode with the clock showing and i dont have any dead pixels, neither do i have any 'ghost images' of the clock display when i use the phone again. dont worry- i know 5 people with this phone also and they dont have these problems either. if you really dont want the power saver mode then just turn it off- very simple go to settings, then to 'display' , scroll down to power saver option and turn it off. thats it. ps - 12 months on and i still love this phone. lots of scratches and battle scars now, but it just adds to the character of the phone!

  • how would i check what fireware my phone has??

  • Perhaps you haven't noted yet, but this phone is so well built that Nokia covers it with a TWO years guarantee and a piority customer service. This means that this model was built to last.

  • mr certik got 8800,must be a kool set as it keeps him quite busy

  • What is the EFR code for this phone? the normal *3370# doesn't work also, I'm fearing the dead pixel syndrome, the power save mode doesn't have the time bar move ... *scared* how do I fix please before it strikes!

  • All these comments are insane. Look, if you want to take photo's, buy a camera. If you want to listen to tunes, buy an ipod. Everyone needs to rmember that this is a PHONE, which is used to talk to people. People who slate this phone are just bitchin about it because they cant afford one, also those of you who have brought one and are then moaning about the spec........ well you should have checked it out on this site before you parted with your hard earned cash. This is a great phone!

  • I have got my few days. Is crab with features, but i used it as speare phone because of good look.

  • I purchased my 8800 that comes with an extra battery. Having used several models of nokia, I wonder why the extra battery should be needed. After a day's use, I concluded I have to carry the quick charger as well for I am a heavy user not just for sending texts but for calling as well. I have charged a total of 3 times during the day to be able to call and receive call as well. Nokia should come up with a better battery life. Not to mention the display and the tones that came with it, this nokia model "is not worth it."

  • The phone is all about looks. It is heavy to carry too. The software sucks for the money spent. The ringtones are weird. The camera is only .5 pixels. The phone sucks for what you pay for it. The wallpapers don't work. Save your money. Very dissapointed with it.

  • this phone is great but it's batery sucks!!!hard!!1 day..

  • i owned this 8800 for a year + and i love it but i think nokia should design better battery. it's just plain cute and stylish !!!!!!!!!!!

  • WHAT??? N92 and N90???? NO, they're huge, yes, functions functions yes but as a phone, what's the point. Why don't you just carry a laptop. 8800 is exquisite. It's for the looks. Class and style. If you're rich enough to get an Aston, you can get this to bling your way.

  • Folx what happens when the LCD burns? dead pixels or stripes on the screen?? I use blank pic as screensaver , today I noticed a dead pixel... whats the deal?

  • It is a very bad mobile because it doesn't have card slot or software like the old nokia phones. THE only advantage in it that its alluminium. I have N93 and N91 and they are the best mobiles ever. I think that every one must have them.

  • BYE BYE 8800...MAKE WAY FOR THE NEW NOKIA 8800 SCIROCCO!!!..key pad lieka fone not a keyring......look at for it at the carfone warehouse! sorri i forgot to add it has a 2megapixel camera aswell and comes witha free bottle of bubbly!!!

  • guys, i have a nokia 8800 black, its a clearance phone, so does not come with the stand, may I know the original stand, is it black in colour or the silver normal type. thanks.

  • "It's all about image" How sad :D You buy a phone because it has features that you will use on it, and because you like the design of it...f*ck what everyone else thinks! I drive a porsche cayman because I like it, not because I think it makes me look cool! Don't try to be what you're not.

  • Can someone help me on Nokia 8800. On my Nokia 8800 the charge pin is damaged and i cannot plug it in. Who should I contact for repair or replacement with in US. Thank you in advance for any helpful hints here with phone number to contact. JD

  • does anyone know how to load new themes on?

  • somebody can help me with my nokia 8800? burn LCD, but phone still working. my ICQ-78405432

  • if your into great looking style and durability grab the 8801 if you want more features like camera/mp3 etc... grab ur samsung.

  • The Nokia 8800 is just basicly a 1 litre farrari.it looks the business.......... and thats about it.but me being vain as i am,i'm having one!! its all about the image...

  • I work for the Carphone Warehouse, one day I was randomally checking the differnt verients of the 8800 the system has, and we I came across an 8800 Scirocco, I did a few searchs online but didn't find much! Today I got a managzine called Mobile and inside I saw some images that where said to have been leaked from Nokia, according to the article there will be a newer version of the 8800 called The Scirocco, from the pics, it looks like the phone has a slightly squarer design and will feature a 2 megapixel camera! No word on if they have sorted out the battery though! The handset will probably be more expensive then the older model which we currently do for 500. It will be available in both silver and black!

  • Or, you could disable the power save mode, and set as screensaver one of the clocks (analog or digital). The digital one doesn't have that horizontal bar from the power saving mode, so it shouldn't burn an imprint on the screen anymore (or maybe just the digits?!). But it's still not moving up and down...:)

  • About the display burning if somebody is so afraid that LCD will burn because of the power save mode / clock, date / I suggest to follow the MJK6s idea. I tried and it works, just upload one blank jpg / 208x208 /. Then you choose this file as a screensaver andno more troubles with this matter. OK, the phone looks like it is not switched on, but at least this is a kind of solution

  • Like i said is the gun metal vers only CHINA written all over it!!!

  • Unfortunately there is no solution to this problem. This is a BUG that it's damaging(sooner or later) the screen. The only solution is to wait a newer firmware from Nokia fixing this bug but i doubt that there will be a drastic solution to the many problems of this "phone".

  • About the screen burning from the screensaver, what i have done is put a blank (white) picture as the screensaver, which makes the fone look like its turned off and does stuff up the screen.. just a suggestion..

  • i can see why might the gun metal vers LCD screen might burn it has CHINA written all over it... started from what you said earlier nokia "china" site.

  • Ok Guys so no version with time bar moving.... what a pity. so costly and screen is damaged... can any one guide me that if i make a 208 x 208 pixel white image (jpeg) and copy it to my phone and then use it as screen saver what will happen ( i used it for one day and time bar damage reduced but i dont know what other damage it can bring to my phone i.e., making totally screen as white or will not damage.... anyone can help

  • The gunmetal 8800 is special edition and is different from the black one. The software ver for the gunmetal special edition is 3.94 - the clock and date bar do not move, which means it will burn an imprint on the LCD screen. You can see it on dark images better - try the converter

  • To:- 2006-08-21 22:45 jKrA Gun metal colour 8800 is not the same as the black colour Russian version. See the gun metal colour 8800 at the Nokia website for China.

  • the nokia 8800 gun metal one is the black russia vers one right?

  • As far as I can remember, not any version of this phones' time bar move in power save mode.......I had been using Nokia 8800 phone since May, 2005. Now I am on my 9th 8800(this one a special edition), in gun metal colour with V3.94 software.

  • Thanks for info. can anybody tell me how to stop or avoid burning out LCD. its a damaging and disappointing to have such a costly phone.. i have version no 3.78 can anybody tell me in which verion the time bar in power save mode moves. please help soon

  • Yes Andy, you can! Just take it to you're local Nokia centre.

  • I have a 8800,and it has some serious scrathes on the display, can i change the front of display?????? THANKS A LOT

  • which was best firmware? can i jus dl that one from somewhere?

  • After keep on changing from one to another......from the oldest version firmware to the newest firmware......still find this phone very attactive.......it's just georgous.......nothing even come close !

  • I have had one on trial for two months. It is a very stylish phone.Function wise it is quite basic and the battery life is disappointing. On the whole it looks good and gets a good reaction from others who look at it.

  • Probably you have the newest firmware v3.94 but a previous fixed bug is back in this firmware. The bug is the power saving time bar that appears after the screen saver, this really does save power however the bar should move from top to middle to bottom of the screen every few seconds, this is to prevent the bar from burning out on the screen. In v3.94 the bar does not move, as a result it burns out the image on the screen, which is visible on darker backgrounds/images etc. Basically it’s damaging the LCD screen!!! Nokia made a big mistake to release this faulty phone and rip off people. The worst phone of 8-series.

  • well its a great phone to have .. though scratchless screen gets scratch pretty soon and there you got it.... there is one more problem.... the clock in standby or power save mode.... if on for a long time it leaves a permanent mark which you can see when there is black background such as converter application... any new software or anybody can help

  • Raz, press to the right of the navigation key for volume up when you are having a phone conversation.

  • I just got the 8800 and cleaning it is really a task. Can someone tell me how to adjust the call volume? Maybe i'm going deaf but the speaker is quite low (outside of handsfree)

  • omar :- The battery is too bad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........................so this is not the phone for you, too bad!!!

  • The battery is too bad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this phone is all u can want for a phone which is perfect.

  • Very costly because it's a great phone :- The best quality hands free speaker phone on the market (clarity wise). The look is elegant. The feel is nice. The size is perfect. Very user friendly. Ring volume is loud enough even from a far distance to be heard.......but not annoying ring tone sound like some other phones.....e.g. Samsung phones. The voice quality is also very clear. Although bettery life is short, charging time is also very short (took approxmately ! hour to fully charge the bettery from empty. Overall, I rate this phone a 9/10.

  • very costly.....

  • i own this handset and it is just a glorified 3510i, Handset has no decent functions, buttons are too small, call quality is awful and ringer volume is too quiet

  • really sexy looking phone haven't really discovered any faults but don't worry will be in touch if i do come across any

  • Really nice phone, is a little heavy but you get used to it. Only down side it battery life, it is really really bad, for instance charged fully made a two minute call, sent three texts and then the battery flashed up low! ... and this was within an hour and a half of it finishing charging. Ridiculious!!

  • to me the new nokia sircoco edition looks like they smashed a hammer on the front of the slider and the inside looks abit strange but then again i need hold this phone to see how is the keypad really like..only the front of the cover looks wierd to me mostly

  • i like the design of 8910 more than 8800 i hope the will use the design of 8910i and upgrade it to a better and more long lasting slide to keep it premium..though i own 8800 and bought it since it first come out..i have no prob with the batery coz i own 2 phone..9500 can last me through a day without the 8800 ;D

  • Yes, the front cover does look wierd. But then it's not official yet.....Nokia can change to a normal slider cover before they put it on the market.

  • that new 8800 edition Sirocco loooks abit wierd doesn't it? anyone else agree?

  • It seems that an updated version of 8800 will be released (Nokia 8800 Sirocco Special Edition). 2MP, new outside look, new design of the keypad... Some pictures are already available on the web. No info about release date and full specifications. To be continued...

  • This phone is great, cun, And Im sur with it... price should be higher man... sound quality is better than DJ... The VGA camera??? Much better than digital camera... memory??? more than computer... Last time when I throw from aero plane... when I see there is not even a scracth...

  • Absolutely fantastic.........the best of the best!

  • absolutely love the look of the phone. Battery life is terrible!!! buttons are a little small. it also over heats, sound quality is Okay - definitely over priced.

  • it is not worth the price. battery life is short and nothing special about it. needs a servent to make it clean all the time. i wish i did not buy it.

  • I have to say this is the worst value phone I have ever owned, I got it as a present I hated the cold metallic look but thought I would try it out anyway. To my dissapointment, I found out that the battery life was so poor it didn't allow for much usage at all. I was also very dissapointed by the camera, for a retail price of 300 I would have expect it to be at least 3Mp going by other phones. Another thing was the lack of memory, I couldn't believe there was no card slot, this makes it's ability to play mp3s useless because you can hardly get any on it and no 3g or wifi meant no fast internet downloads. The screen was also small and not high res like I was expecting at this price level. For a phone so expensive it felt so cheap and it's certainly not classy, it went on ebay soon after.

  • im bored i cant wait to get this phone

  • i recently bought a vertu signature price dropped for this phone more people has it too now... waiting for the next 88 series the 8800i looks impaired...

  • This is a very critical moment, NOKIA has reduced the price to 535 in UK @ www.shop.nokia.co.uk this means that some thing new coming out in the form of 8800i

  • Before getting this phone ia hve used the motorazr,L7, the O2 xda mini-s,,,but this one is awesome..on reading the other reviews i couldnt resist and i have to say comparing this one to any of your other soo called techie and gizmo phones is like comparing a rolls royce to a faster and more advanced ferrari..both have thier own type of users..but if given choice anyone would opt for a rolls,,thats for the Legacy and class!!

  • Sir, Tell me one thing why its so costly, what is in it speacially... there is no Mega pixel camera,no external memory option... Nokia-6600 has more feature than Nokia-8800,than why its so costly...????????? although not so big screen than N-6600,No memory option, or heavy weight... Please think over it....is it make sense?????pls give me response... i m using this instrument.....its worth 35,000, just for a look?????????. this is not fare.....

  • I think it looks Really Posh. But... The Battery.... I don't even wanna talk about the battery. You are in the middle of an important conversation, and ....quiet...why? Your battery died.If they did Proper batteries,I would Love this phone.

  • very beautiful phone,but bit heavy.expensive.its a must have phone.i love.nokia u are the best

  • was eating shawarma and texting at the same time, unfortunately some of the sauce got on the phone, please give tips on how to safely clean the phone, especially the keypad area.

  • first of all....its too expensive, and what can it do? i even prefer a 6630-6680.and second of all...heavy and NOT good looking!

  • vertu r the hit of course

  • This is a very good phone, except for the fact that the battery runs out after about 3 hours. Also the phone is quite heavy so it makes it harder to hold in your pocket

  • This phone is so sleek and stylish, that it makes razors look like cheap plastic rotary phone. And if you think this is expencive, check out Nokia's luxory line Vertu www.Vertu.com those phones go around $90.000

  • dios mio! the black one is very good looking but it sux no mmc card not even good software no infrared the 8910i is better.

  • Where oh where can i view the black 8800

  • I would really like this phone and ive heard roumers of different colours please can any one tell me the different colurs and where i can view them thanks

  • omg i saw a kid with this phone... he wasn't even older then 16 or 17 i need to go get one.

  • when i drive my bimmer (z4 roadster)with the top down, and i get a call, i can just imagine how envious the other motorists get, imagine, i drive a bimmer, i have the best phone around, what a blast. and please don't tell me how your n91 and some such crap is better, if that were true, then your cheap-looking phones would cost more than the uber cool 8800. ciao

  • After having this phone for few months now. So far I like it a lot. The batt for some reason it's really good. Mine will last at least good full day if I talk average 150 to 200 min a day. Plus have of the time I have it on bluetooth on my car. average use I can have it for good 2 full day without charge. Other than that the quality I think it's better than the way it look on the picture. When I first saw the pic I didn't want the phone. after seeing it in person it changed my view completely. Like many here said that the phone has a lot of issue, that maybe just because they bought the first shippment of this phone. Just like cars, normally first year model the car for some reason all have some sort of recalls and problems.

  • wow 7.9 on design 7.2 feature 7.3 performance i can understand those last 2 would be low but shouldn't it be 8.5+ on design

  • i scored 2 of these phones for free and all i had to do was use a fake id and pretend i was Dr Abdul Giar Budari and that i wanted them on 250 plans, the salesperson was more then happy to hand them over... Thanks Optus world

  • Its 0.5

  • hey i was just wonderin how much mega pixel the 8800 was because it didn't say inthe specs. appreciate help....

  • from it's look it's swanky(best/cool)please when making the updated version try placing the walkman/player feature at the space below the numberboard under the covered part this would be extraordinary!!!!!!!!!most compact and very swanky:)

  • I got a black 8800 two weeks ago. It looks damn good. I am quite sure the paint won't be off. It's by ionizing not by painting. But the battery life is pathetic. It barely last for a day. And the phone is not as loud as SE's. But so far I love this phone

  • Chris, I'm agree with with you but ppl who spend hugh money on it jsut admiring it and in the world of fools that makes them feel it was worth buying it but it wasn't really

  • he battery is rubbish needs charging every day, though it was just mine but 2 other friends say the same thing.

  • You have to enjoy it to appreciate that it is worth every dollar.

  • simply breathtaking

  • jesse :- quality.

  • why is this soo much money?

  • if you dont believe that the 8800i is just an mp4 player & just a fake then dont believe me.but i tell u this.. i'll have the last laugh..

  • FYI no slide heavier but with microSD slot...speaker crappier...if your just for style go for 8800,, o ya 8800i has 1.32 mp camera...i got my digital sony camera and my white psp for mp3 so im good with my 8800.

  • FYI nokia 8800i will release around christmas time. its a upgraded vers. of 8800

  • There is no such phone as 8800i at the present moment.......the picture you saw is a fake Nokia 8800i, it's not a Nokia phone! There are lots of these imitation phones in China; made by small manufacturers. There are lots of look alike brand name phones for sale in China........and some of them are really cute & nice looking. I brought a 8800 look alike in China about 3 months ago.......it's size is about 1/3 the volume of the real 8800; except without the slider to cover the keypad. The ringtone volume is much louder than the real 8800. It plays MP3 too.......but there is no bluetooth; no EDGE & no keypad lock. But this phone got a card slot for micro SD memory card. It also got a VGA camera.

  • I think ppl who bought 8800 are now regretted and saying bad abt 8800i and degrading the lovely set

  • the 8800i is just a fake..it is not a mobile phone;it is just an mp4 player..

  • anyone have any idea whether this phone would work in the states?

  • I'm telling you that now i've seen it with my eyes! The painting it's starting ta fall on the 8800 Black version! it sucks! i really wanted to buy it!

  • can u paste the 8800i pic link plzzzzzzzz

  • to sondoro who cares!!!then go and play w/ your n91..i'll play my 8800 special edition..much more expensive than your lyf..

  • Best of the best...especially the top quality hands free speaker phone.

  • 8800i design sux..no slide..thick and heavy..i better go for n91

  • Thanks to celtic2039 for the link. I really wanted to know how the dark 8801 looked like. It is not a problem if some ignorant people neither recognize the russian writting nor the address ending in '.ru'. Russia is the only country where the special edition is being sold.

  • have any 1 seen 8800i,big improvements there i think, but they just killed style of the phone i reckon.thank you

  • This is an expensive phone for sure..........it does not have much features (but it does have really usable features), it is nicely designed & the quality of the material used is top grade. This is a 2.5G phone & it is very user friendly. Sound quality, especially the hands free speaker quality is top grade.........best one you can find anywhere. Nokia should upgrade this phone with a better quality camera & even higher resolution screen, then this phone will be perfect. I'll give it a 9/10 rating.

  • celtic2039 ...that site in iraq or soem other language atleast got any english site for picture of the dark broze nok 8800

  • Best of the best, period.

  • Dear friends, the phone sold in Russia as an exclusive edition is NOT black, it is dark Bronze. I don`t think Nokia is going to put painting over a stainless steel cover, it would fall off very soon. What they do is a process similiar to the one done to weapons to make them look dark. They apply a chemical process to oxidize the surface and make it look dark. This method is nice, durable and clean. It is possible to see pictures on this address:

  • I want to buy the 8800 Black Version as soon as possible, but i heard from someone that has one, that the painting it's starting to loose...Does anyone know anything about this? Is the painting the same like the one for D500 that just falls in time?

  • I`ve had my phone for two months and I am very happy with it. In order to appreciate the phone it is very important to feel it and of course to operate it, causes a lot of different sensations, it is not only a fact of showing it off, it is about pleasure and happiness of having something special. The battery doesn`t last very long, but this is not a problem, this model accepts virtually any charger of Nokia and it is very easy to find someone who has one, the charging time is about one hour to get completelly full. The display is amazing and the sound quality is cristaline.

  • had this phone for 2 month, very nice phone, elegant, nice sound, and a stunning display. although some people said the battery is pathetic, but if you considering that new small battery for 8800, i think the performence is excellent and nokia give us 2 battery. so its bloody good phone mate, guarantee not disappointed. bravo nokia 8800

  • Still the best looking & perfect dimension phone for sale on the market........except if you are looking for a bigger screen & hence a bigger phone; then go for the Moto A1200 (MING).

  • how about d software???is it working properly?

  • i agree Got em all you must have probably if u talk more then 2 hr on your phone... go use your house phone if you do... i usually just call someone say something 10-20min hang up or call someone else for something 5-10min tops i make atleast 5 calls a day and that not going to add up too 2hrs next

  • (filipino owners),do u hv cases that ur 8800 hangs when yr using it???pls tel me cuz im planning 2 buy ds awesome phone

  • Hi just got one today. Swap in my new 1 week old(yes 1 week old) samsung e900. Great phone and looks the dogs well you know. Who is away from some form of power supply for more than 2 days anyway.by the way I have an MP3 player and an SLR digital camera. So I don't them on my phone. Its just.... Well just get one and don't tell the wife the price as its a free upgrade trust me.

  • Still the best looking(also long lasting looks), most user friendly & well designed quality phone for your money. To sum it up, it's the best all round balanced phone on the market.

  • Sickest phone out there money can buy. Ok the battery life sucks its about 2 hrs talktime. So what you get two batterys and if you talk more than 4 hrs on your cell phone daily u need help. I have N91,7610,7280,N80, Samsung D820,E900,x820, sony w600,p910 Mot V3i dolche Gabbna,L7,a1200 and this is still the best phone money can buy. Better than a VERTU.4 the price of course

  • Aside from looking really cool, this phone really doesn't have much to offer. If you're looking for a phone with lots of cool features, lots of talk time, card slot, nice camera, this phone really isn't for you. However, if you just want to walk around with a phone and show the world how bad ass you are, then this phone is the phone your looking for. Everytime you pull out this phone, you'll have heads turning.

  • Hi i am very pleased with my 8800 but would like to know if any readers have found a way to increase the battery life and increase the volume on hands free

  • i've had the phone for six months and still it turns heads whenever i use it on the train. i just love the attention i get because of this phone. i laugh everytime i see other people using their hoi-polloi phones, they just don't measure up!

  • Hi Guys, I found a way to improve the battery life. The main reason for the battery performance is based on huge consumption of the display. So there is a way to be improved. You have to choose a theme with less color and for the wallpaper as well. My experience showed me that the magic waves / one of the preinstalled themes / is quite good for this purpose. Believed or not this will affect battery performance. Regards to all 8800 owners

  • The best phone I have ever had.

  • No doubt the best quality phone.......worth every penny I spent.

  • my talk time is like no more then 30min a day so i got no worries all good. plus addition i charge it daily so no need to worry. beside its suppose to be a phone ur good enough to buy this, you most likely got yourself a goo digital camera, u need mp3 u got ur ipod to hold 1,000,000 songs. this phone was made to be a phone and nothing more only thing i prefer is that i cant even believe y they put a .5 mp camera on this phone thye should just leave it out, the phone itself would be a bomb but its still really is i love it im just sharing my experience, u should check it out if you like.

  • i got the black nokia 88000 its dope just go grab it at some of those imported asian phone stores they most likely carry it

  • Having been lucky enough to be one of the first to get my hands on this when it was launched 18months ago, after a very long wait i was very let down by the audi looks but rover performance, yes you guessed..battery life..user friendly, but v,poor usage, have had 3phones since the best i,ve used is the 6280; brilliant... andy

  • I have the 8801 for a week now and so far I like it a lot. The batt life is pretty dame game to me compared to my razor. I am very use to charging my batt once a day when I was still using my razor. The 8801 will last my whole day with average 1.2 hour of talk time in the morning, and another good 1.5 to 2 hours after work. by 12am before I sleep, the batt show half way down. I know the batt. is still new and it will wear down eventually but isn't this the same for every other cell phone batt? Plus when I drive the phone will always connect to my car bluetooth which mean the batt life should used up even more. Honestly, if I barely use this phone during the day I can have this phone withour worry about the batt life for 2 full day. but since I talk to my customer a lot then so far I'm pleased. The phone hasn't go dead yet like what other have said. And yes, my friend has one and he said he does have problem with his phone but he bought it last year I think when the phone first came out. But again, we'll see how long it'll last. My razor last me 1.5 year and others didn't. I guess it's how you protect your phone. I don't put my phone in my pocket so that it won't get any pressure from my pants, wallets, or keys. 800 is still a bit pricy for the phone but this phone's price should be down a bit now so it's actually not that bad now.

  • Why is black version only available in Russia? Has someone got the black version? I only buy black phones!

  • I have now had 3 Nokia 8800 because I am very Imprested with the overall design , very reliable handset only downside is battery life is a bit poor ,

  • Omg i feel so poor im using a 6230 i saw this little boy and his dad using this phone... the was like 8 years old....

  • cool, sophistcated, the envy of my peers. haha even more expensive than the clunky n91. most people can't afford this beuatiful phone so they malign it, bash it. whatever you say 8800 detractors, this is the phone to beat. you want class and sophistication get the 8800, you want a lot of functions you don't actually use, get the n91 or such other crap. you pay for status.

  • I have this phone and its great for getting attention but $800 for a phone with limited features is not the best investment a person can make but I would still wouldn't return it if i could becuase its HOT!!

  • Gr8 looking phone.. I just think that ppl who make comments abt it without knowing its features n havent used it are just jealous.. And every1 knows jealousy makes u nasty !!!!!!!! Nokia makes the best fones especially when it comes to being user friendly

  • Envy is not a good adviser, If some people don't have to money to buy one, they can aimply go and buy a cheaper one.

  • This phone voted to be the phone of the year by some people for only marketing purposes. Nokia 8800 is one of the most expensive mobile phones in the market and that is the only reason to voted as the “mobile phone” of the year. That’s how marketing and promotion work trying to attract more potential buyers. In reality this is a faulty, unreliable phone which has nothing to show or you have nothing to expect from it, except high price and this is a fact. This “phone” is for people that actually feel better by posing and showing off with it. In market there are better alternatives. Simple as that.

  • I love this phone... its one of a kind....

  • Dont ever buy this phone. It is the most unreliable piece of crap i have ever owned. I have had it replaced 3 times and repaired twice on top of that. Honestly, you would be better off using public phones instead

  • guys,if your after a phone with everything on it,go for the nokia 6230i.if you want a phone that makes you look and feel like a celebrity and have a few more hundred euro than the average person, buy the 8800.this is actually a really gud phone and DOES have camera behind the slide, and in my opinion, its the best looking phone ever made.

  • To: Els Despite of all the phones they created so far, this phone still remains the very best looking phone and for crying out loud this phone has camera! It is located behind the upper face of the phone when you slide the phone up. I think you are just a great pretender having guts to posting false info. here. Get a life and stop pretending that you know anything when it comes to cell phones. Nokia 8800 is still the mobile phone of the year! Buy your self a magazine and read!

  • This phone realy baffles me. No camera!!! its trapped in a time warp. So pricey but yet so crap. Shame realy, cos its a good looking phone.

  • don't use yr time on this phone. not worth.

  • Ive been rubbing my hands to give everyone my opinion of this phone . Perhaps if you had more money than sence you could justify buying this . Yes it does have a buetiful shiny stainless steel finish , but for about $50 dollars I can recomment some decent toasters that would give you the same thing . You will however pay a premium price for this handpiece and if you are so vain that you must pay this amount to feel elite then so be it . The 8800 does not have any features that you could not find on a phone a quarter of the price .

  • Ok.. I need to know how to make my phone vibrates when receiving calls. Yes, I've check ON on my Profile. also, on my first charge, I've so far used 24 mins this morning and batt is still full. My old razor batt will last me just one day with the use of bluetooth on my car. I'll update more info on the latest version when I start using this phone with bluetooth to see how long the batt will last. It feels go to go back to a simple phone. MY razor was really good. It's still working strong after 1.5 year without any problem. I like both phone so I don't think I want to do any comparison just yet. the camera queality is about the same and I think the nokia is a bit clear. maybe because it's new meaning the lense is clean.

  • Helo friends, with this phone occurs the same that with watches, if you want one with a lot of functions, you buy a 'Casio' but if you want something special, you buy a 'Rolex' that will give you the time and the date. period.

  • Evo, My best advise for you, is to take your phone to a Nokia Care Center, it is possible that the battery is worn out and need a replacement. By the way, desktop chargers for models 8800 and 8801 are the same, the only difference between the phones is the frecuency of operation. Regards.

  • I've set the vibration ON but when calls come in the phone doesn't vibrate. Am I not setting it correctly? Please advice.

  • why so expensive? no function whatsoeve lah? status symbol? ajah!

  • is the phone stand charger the same for both 8800 and 8801? My cousin is coming from asia and I think they sell the charger there cheaper than here... Just wondering if they work.

  • thnx celtic. i do charge it ova night an then i stil find myself chargin it like 4 times a day. it really irratin. i've got de orginal charger. so the prob is def wit de battery an not de phone?

  • wow this is a piece of junk!! whats the price what does it have.. wow works so well doesnt it? maybe cuz its so basic like phones from 4 years ago that it wont crash. has no reason to this is a great phone if its 2003

  • Hi Evo, It is not normal that the battery drains that fast, perhaps you are not using the appropiate charger, look for the original and recomended by the manufacturer. Other option is to let it charge overnight before buying a new battery, they are expensive. Under normal use a bettry should last about two or three days. Don't forget to turn off the bluetooth option.

  • I jus got my 8800 but second hand. it a stunning phone. my only prob is that the batt is pathetic. i full charge it an after 2 phone calls no longer than 2 min the batt low warning comes up. is this a prob wit the phone or if i buy a new batt will it fix de prob. pls help thanks

  • I've hand the nokia 8800 for a month now and I am very pleased with it. The so much criticised battery lasts for 2 days on normal use (phone calls, text messages) without any problems and the charging time is quite short. I haven't encountered the problem of the phone switching off when there were 2 more battery lines left, and I've used it to the last line without any problems. I read posts from people complaining about the sound quality on their handset, but I've had no such problems with mine, on the contrary, I can say that the sound is loud and cristal clear, significantly better than with other phones I've had in the past. The signal is very good and without fluctuations. I have a signal on my phone even in remote places where other phones don't work. Also, the sliding mechanism works flawlessly. Indeed, the camera on this phone is modest, but to me that's not such a big inconvenient as I don't use it anyway. One can argue that the phone lacks certain features other phones have, at a lower price. On the other hand, if the user didn't buy it to use it as a camera or mp3 player, I think there is nothing to complain about on this phone. It works excellently. All in all I'm very happy with this phone. I think the elegant design and stainless steel cover set it apart and on the quality of its functions is undisputable.

  • i cannot believe my good fortune to find one just lying around when i went to the park to walk my boss' dog. who could anyone be so careless as to lose a jewel like this? i just ignored the calls then changed the sim, voila, i have a new mobile with the status that comes with it. now i stand tall and proud, people stare whenever i take it out to sms or call. unfortunately, i still don't have a girlfriend. but who cares? people now respect me, hah!

  • The phone has really poor battery life. I am on my second one due to a fault where they turn themselves off mid call. The retailer said he has replaced a few with the same problem. The software upgrade does not fix these problems.

  • when is the next 8 series Nokia releasing? any news???? cheers

  • i have had my phone since january and it has never crashed, never dropped a call, rarely loses its signal and still makes me feel good everytime i take it out of my pocket ,open the slider and hear the metallic 'snap' as it opens. there are a couple of light scratches on the body that can be polished out, however the scratch resistant glass screen has stayed just as new. (i started out with a screen protector on it for 2 months before i realised i just didnt need it and it spoiled the effect of the glass screen). to sum up - awesome phone !

  • After viewing this forum since few months I decided to post my personal opinion about this phone. I was so confused reading all the negative review posted here that it took me about 6 months until I bought this phone. Here are my comments: General opinion - To me it is 100% sure that 8800 wasnt developed as a high tech phone and that is why Im wondering why most of the people are complaining about camera, memory card slots and other functionality that have nothing to do with the reason that drove Nokia to develop this gadget. Important issues: Software - I agreed that Nokia began the sales of 8800 with very bad software versions, but this issue no longer exists and current version are stable enough and dont cost serious problems anymore. Battery - One of the serious questions is the battery life, yes it is not great, but believed or not the phone is capable of 2 up to 3 hours of phone conversation a day. This is possible only in case that first 3 / 4 charge and discharge cycles are made properly. Camera - I will not make any comments because I thing this phone will be much better without any camera at all. Signal and quality during the conversation I thing it is very good, I tried my phone at several places that signal is very bad and to tell you the truth Im completely satisfied. The audio quality is clear, crisp and vivid. Sound My main complains is the fact that the sound of the melody / MP3 or AAC / is not loud enough, I can hear it, but still some extra strength would be very useful. The same about the hands free speaker, still not loud enough. My conclusion Yes, 8800 is expensive, Yes it is not high tech phone, but the quality of materials, the design and the feeling when you take the phone in your hands are something that I cant explain. One word only, different class. Im sure this phone is not a just a phone it is a kind of jewel, something like expensive watch for instance. In case somebody is not able to understand that I strongly recommenddont buy this phone at any price, it is not for you.

  • This is one of the slickest phone around!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well the updated ver of firmware is 3.9 but I don't think just a software upgading can enhance the full functionality of a battery or cell phone

  • can anyone tell me the latest version for this phone?? :) n will the battery life increase for the better after the upgrade? thnx

  • 4double7 9 five shibby. Mr Shibb. how can i help?? 10 quid on under 12 pens nailed on sir at 3-1 mmmk? not a problem.......

  • LOL, funny, it's just like a color screen, rounded, brushed version of the 8810

  • mohammed.zaidh , Press to the "right" of the 4 way navigation key to increse the volume when you are having a conversation using your 8800.

  • Can somebody please tell me how do i increase the Volumn in the phone to hear the conversation(not the ringing volumn)

  • Looks great Features good Camera Satisfactory Battery & Volumn in the Phone,Worst of all the Phones that i have ever had. Overall ,Great feeling & worth if moved with the right crowd.

  • i wanted to set myself apart from all the kid at my school(the only kid that had it), and i did it is heavy but at least i know it is in my pocket. i like the dictionary for my spainish it does come in handy. it is expensive but now everyone can have it because of stuiped t-mobile is selling it it is a good phone and you can get more memory if you delete the programs and the ringtomes you don't need so it will increase your memory. nathan morales

  • no doubt its really a gud ph,though i ven't got 1 but i really liked it n ill definately go 4 it ,as compared to others i find it awesome looking

  • No way, its with an elegant weight/size

  • is it a big bulky phone??

  • SVGA = Super Video Graphics Adaption/Adopter

  • This is the most expensive phone I've ever had and it's also the worst phone I've ever had. The battery life is dismal, often, with four bars of battery remaining, the phone will give the battery dead beeps and turn itself off. I've bought a Motorola Razr and I'm selling the 8800 to some poor unsuspecting individual!

  • Adil : Our family happened to had dinner together tonight with my brother-in-law because of father's day. He just brought a E900. I compared it to my 8800 & definately the 8800 come on top in the look & feel & quality. The E900, well, is just like any Samsung phones.........!!! A phone is a phone, so we talk about the basic features first(for making & receiving calls). The sound quality of my gun metal colour 8800(with newest firmware) is clearer. The quality of the build-in hands free is so much better than the E900. I don't care if other people have the same phone(8800) like I do.........not like some other people who just want to be exclusive........., I highly recommand the 8800 because it is a good "phone". By the way, honestly, ask yourself how often phone user use their phone as a camera/video recorder or MP3? I guess not too much at all!.......or else this is not the phone for them. The radio & dictionary that came with this phone is quite handy too.

  • can someone tell me what's svga is

  • To Adil: Definitely E900 can't compared to 8800 because E900 is by far superior:high-tech features,good-looking,full of features, reasonable price. Atleast you get what you give or expect from a phone.

  • adil :- no context. definately pick the 8800! they are not even in the same class!

  • had this phone since Nov 05, had a lot of problems with the first version *replaced with a new one after sending the phone back to nokia for 3 ties* no doubt that this is a nice phone that rarely anyone would have due to the high price *and stays high* a very nice mon that's better than LCD*computer ones* quality... feels heavy, but this is how a high class phone should be. its simply a phone that people would stare at when you take it out of the pocket... however, only bad thing is the battery life... @.@~ sux hard! for a heavy user like me... charing the phone daily is essential, and strongly suggested to carry the 2nd battery~

  • The phone itself is great. Ive not found any problems with the battery or any of the features so far! The only problem i have with mine is the dirt that has got under the screen! The buttons that are directly under the screen are not in a sealed unit and lets dust and dirt get under them. Whent the phone is switched off, and the screen goes black it shows up and looks terrible. Nokia have said they are aware of the problem and are happy to clean the phone for me if i send it away to them? Seems like alot of hastle for a problem that should not happen! As i said, no other problems with the handset.

  • thats clever!

  • money is no object one thing this phobe us great hardly anyone has it you'll be so special with it which everyone will definitly comment you about your phone.

  • I have had a lot of phones and this is without a doubt the best one. It is not only classy, but full of functions, better than the massively sold V3. I bought it 15 days ago and haven't had any trouble at all. The only con is the battery life, it lasts about two and a half days.

  • i like it nokia 8800 i want she i love u

  • to feedback: yea, I'm from the state. I am currently using black razor and it's an oversea phone. I guess I am the lucky one cuz other people that uses razor have problems with their scean goes out and batt too short. My car has handless phone that I can use bluetooth on so any phone with bluetooth is good for me to use while driving. Razor is a wonderful phone for me but now it's just time for me to have another one. I have check out many over sea phone but for the quality of structure itself, 8800 or 8801 is really nice. Even though the price is high but it has gone down a bit. It'll cost me like 300 dollars to upgrade my current plan so it isn't bad at all.

  • shaolin : So you are from the States, I guess(that's where I used to attend school...long time ago). The 8800 or I should say 8801 for North America is a much better machine than the RAZA. This Nokia is very comfortable to hold(unlike the RAZA which is too wide). I particularly like the build-in hands free speaker phone coz it's so clear even from a little distance(try it for yourself). The speaker phone is very useful for me when driving because I do not like to carry/use any hands free equipment. The battery do not last for a long time; but it is ok which last me a day. It take only about an hour to fully recharge the battery.

  • This is the phone I wanted but and I know it's simple. That's why I want it. I'm just waiting for more updated version. my friend purchased his when it came out and it had problems so.. If the upgraded version and is not making anymore phone shutting down then I just might pick one up soon. This is why I'm here posting and wanting to see more post from people that bought their 8801 recently. Batt life isn't an issue for me cuz my razor barely last me one day.

  • This is the phone I wanted but and I know it's simple. That's why I want it. I'm just waiting for more updated version. my friend purchased his when it came out and it had problems so.. • shaolin : Not encounter problem with the newest 3.9v firmware. If you want a simple, classy, long lasting looking, durable & user friendly phone, this is it, period. Overall, none of my other phones came close.......LIST :- Nec L1, SE K750i & 600, Samsung D500 / E770 / D520 / Z540 / P300(this is the worst one), Motorola V3 & V3i, Vertu(good quality) and a few Chinese/Korean join production phones. 8800 is still the best for me (I personally prefer slider phone...especially thin ones). LG chocolate is a nice slider phone with a good size; but the phone is too plasticky feeling & has got no hands free speaker phone(anyway, LG phones are not in the same class!)

  • okok.. it doesn't matter who will fit better with this phone. some rich buys it and some poor will buy it as well. who cares. I would like to hear from more people that have this phone that bought it recently and if they have any more issues like phone shutting off by itself. This phone has been out awhile now so it should be a little bit better than half year ago.

  • well i got 3.9v firmware and i bought mines like a month ago and it doesn't turn off and on onlyt proabbly is that...when im in vegas walking at the strips holding this phone burns...

  • i can't believe i got one for P15K here in the philippines, slightly used, complete accessories, no noticeable scratches. well, just sharing my great find, enjoying this phone immensely. but i have to say, the 6680 is still my main phone, better functions you know...

  • I know there was a lot people that complain about the phone will turn off by itself but that was when the phone first came out. What about people that bought the phone recently like one or two months before June 2006?

  • To : 2006-06-12 17:39 N9VH , Absolutely true.......this phone is made for the rich & famous. The rest, pls. step aside!

  • This isn't a cell phone. This is status. People who can afford it are not worried about features. They're looking for price and beauty.

  • Beautiful phone, slightly on the heavy side i found. And yes the battery is awful!!!! Not worthing paying alot of money for, but then I got mine for free!!!

  • hi! i bought 8800,it vry eligent phone ,i ever bought.the only thing that distrub me is its battery.it dont stay longer.even while using it goes suddenly down to empty.pls.anyone suggest me whether its a problem of phone or it is the way phone works..thanx a ton..

  • The Cell Phone is beautiful but it comes with a glitch, how can i describe the glitch, well! you got to see my right thumb, its brused, it hurts all because of the 8800. When the Clamshell/pop open cover goes down, God forbid if you get ur thumb or skin caught inside. Its horrible!

  • *Special Edition* gun metal colour 8800 is also available in Mainland China, check it out at Nokia website(China). In the Nokia China website picture, I don't seem to notice the word *Special Edition* engraved to the back cover of the 8800 like those selling in Hong Kong.

  • Err honestly look at the specs, who would pay over $600 for something like that? And if you're buying it for the design than it's lame because you're simply paying hundreds of dollars for scrap metal (you can hear the big bosses in the Nokia HQ laughing at you). Sorry guys, this phone is so outdated...

  • *Special Edition* gun metal colour 8800? link?

  • Does anyone know if it supports Orange Line 2 facility???????????????????????????????

  • Just brought the *Special Edition* gun metal colour 8800. Everyone said that it look even better than the stainless steel colour(I do agree, which is one of the reason I brought it.......although I am still keeping the stainless steel one). As far as I notice, the software has been updated.......some of the functions' details have been changed(you need to press 'DONE' to confirm). The metal part below & around the camera used to be mirror like & can be used to take self portrait; but not anymore!

  • Why you ppl running around your tiny world of MP camera or expandable memory? Go for something else if you dpn't get what you want for 8800 but PLZ do NOT be stereotypes and come out of your tiny world. This beauty really rocks and a truly flagship phone by Great NOKIA

  • 8800 still got the best quality hands free speaker phone. The newest software is 3.9?v.

  • worst signal, it makes you want to break it then to return it.

  • they should have added expandable memory and at least a 1 megapixel camera. then it would be the best phone ever.

  • There is a gun metal colour "special edition" 8800 available for sale in Hong Kong starting on the 6th of June, 2006.

  • Some people are pathetic on this site, posting things purely to antagonise others. It's all about opinions that's all. If someone doesn't like the phone fair play, and if someone loves it, likewise. However, to say this phone has excellent battery life is simply untrue, bulls**t in fact. It's dreadful. Lovely looking handset but wouldn't last a month in my possession, I'd get sick of charging it

  • The best phone........period.

  • how many songs can this fone hold? should i buy this or imate Jasjar? plz email me thank you.

  • The best phone........period.

  • i have the Nokia 6280 and i think it's the bestt the 8800 is a exceptional phone 10x to NOKIA i think it will be my next phone

  • guess it would be wise for people to read up on specifcations b4 buying phones,to cram all things into the 8800 would have meant a bigger phone my model lasts more than a day beside which nokia supply a spare battery which you can charge outside the phone, the slide action is faultless and i do not have problemes with software, voice calls etc, granted the camera is poor but there is a first class screen and looks to die for,as to price a mini goes like a bently which would you perfer, not sure kourus knows as much as he thinks, and as to the post saying the lg choclate phone is better has that person owned one as i have

  • Great phone. Just the look is worth a million! The function is great and easy for daily use. The battery do not last so long like Philips or SE phones BUT the 8800 battery can be fully charged from empty within one hour only, so, as a HEAVY USER, I do not encounter any problem for a whole day use as long as I charge it once every night.

  • Hello i'm back Instead of putting the 8800 down previously I just wan to know if anyone else has been having any problems. Kourus is spot on, he seems to know more about phones than anyone on here. I just don't think the 8800 is worth the price especially when there's handsets out there which beat it in everyway except for the steel casing. We have had customers complaining about the 8800 thats why you will always get negative feedbacks on the h/set And yes the sound and battery are dreadful

  • hi everybody,i have some question ,i just got a black version of 8800 ,and i just want to know how i can find out this black version is real or fake ,can i check on the imei no or anything else (because i have the normal 8800 and i check everything in the box is same as the black version just the phone is diffrence),and how did i know where is my phone made in (my phone has 01). thanks a lot.

  • Lots of *BS* from this poor anti-8800 Koureas G. I love my 8800 101%.

  • I can understand most people are crazy for this great designed phone........it's really so sexy & classy, definately a piece of jewellery. Well done, Nokia.

  • amazingly sexy . something gonna rock

  • I dont get why people keep slagging this phone off so much!!! Its a good phone and thats it!! If you can afford a 500 phone then you can for sure afford a good Digital SLR so the camera does not matter. You can afford an iPod so have 50mb of memory does not matter!! The phone has style and is a great phone!!!!

  • To king and coffee: I doubt that you have ever owned Nokia 8800 because you should have already known that this phone has low voice clarity, poor battery life, functionality, performance and a lot more other software problems. This is the most unreliable and worst phone i have used and this is a fact, but it’s very hard for some people to admit that this “phone” is useless, unreliable and has nothing to show except high price.Maybe the truth hurts and some people don't want to see it because in their imagination is something “priceless” without a reason to be so or don’t want to admit that actually with this phone they feel better by posing and showing off . I have used a wide range of phones and was an owner of all exclusive and high end/expensive mobile phones from Nokia product line(8850,8910,8910i,8800),and YES i have much more knowledge on mobile phones than you have or dream to have. You wish to own and use them like i do. You belong to the 1/4 group of people posting here that are satisfied. It's your right not to believe mine and generally all the negative comments on this phone but how can you explain the majority of these indignant, unsatisfied, disappointed people reviews? Don't give as an answer that excuse again that people can't afford it and is jealous. Jealous of what? This phone is not capable even for the main purpose of its creation which is to make calls. From time to time is switching off by itself,so you have to be anxious when you have a phone call conversation or when you try to make a call. I used both versions 3.60 and 3.78 and none of them work properly, although 3.60 had the most problems. With 3.78 version some problems are fixed and others remain. Maybe you are in the minority of happy and satisfied Nokia 8800 people but this is Nokia 8800 - user opinions and reviews board and not a board for people that actually want or like this phone. Surely i don’t want any suggestions by immature persons like you and i don't want your permission to post my negative reviews on this "phone" and if don’t accept an honest different opinion than yours that's your problem not mine. I only speak with facts and through my experiences. I try to help and inform people for Nokia 8800 major problems as an ex-owner and user of this phone and not do the same mistake of buying this phone like i did. Nothing more ,nothing less. If you don't understand this simple thing what can i do.Your behavior will be judged by others. I was and am very clear in my previous posts and statements on this phone. If you want go and see my previous posts and simply READ them. I believe that you can't realise and understand how to read properly and carefully. That's your Problem not mine. You are a parasite and infest people with your cheap excuses. The truth hurts and some people don't want to see it.If you like to waste your money or want to show off that's your problem. No more excuses for this phone. This “phone” is an expensive bibelot and nothing more. If you want to give more than 450 for a faulty, unreliable phone that's fine,it's your decision and right to do this but don't criticize and mislead people with your cheap excuses. See only the voting results going day by day down and get your own conclusion. In market there are better alternatives.Simple as that. So give us a rest and don't busy yourself and dabble with me

  • Great battery life. Worth every penny coz you will not feel disappointed when there is new technology of phone comes out.

  • Short life battery. Very expensive for its features

  • Yeap, thats exactly what he supposes to do. I was thinking that he probably never had the phone. He just "pretends" to have all these problem with his imagination 8800. He did that because he can't afford one so he's thinking that it's better for him if everybody dont have one as well.

  • Koureas G , May I also suggest for you to find a lawyer to sue Nokia for ripping you off!

  • Koureas G , If you are so pissed off with this phone because you did pay a high price to own this beautiful looking phone to find that it is not up to your expectations; it doesn't matter what your opinion is, because after a year og production, a lot of people all over the world is still eagerly buying this phone! We can understand your dis-satisfaction, but you should be complaining to Nokia & ask them for a refund AND post your complain on the daily newspaper.

  • Absolutely agree with Mr. Coffee.

  • It’s easy to say the same excuse again and again and criticize other people because you don’t have something else to say to defend this “phone”,but it’s very hard to admit that this “phone” is useless, unreliable, not worthy phone and has nothing to show except high price.Maybe the truth hurts and some people don't want to see it. I know from first hand the inadequate "capabilities" of this "phone" and i speak with facts and through my experiences. As i stated in my previous posts the capacity of 8800 is Li-Ion battery forms only 600 mAh, which is too short. In average it worked for a day in case of an hour of talks, and i encountered fast battery discharge during the talk and phone turned off. With 30 minutes of talks the device lived till the next morning and turned off at the first call (two charge points). You should not trust the battery indicator. The device may be used not more than for a day, two days are possible only with little short conversations, NO use of other functions. If you want somehow better battery life it's better to turn off the screen saver and use no bluetooth. Except from the design of this "phone" which is a subjective point of view if you like it or not, there is no other reason to defend this "phone". Surely this "phone" has low battery life, functionality, performance and many software problems. So i don't understand the fanatics owners or fans of this "phone" trying to mention, imply or say something against other people posting here who are indignant, disappointed owners of this "phone" or don't actually like it.Surely we have heard thousand of times that cheap excuses and we are tired to hear them once again because some others they don't have something to say or don't know what they are saying. I wouldn't recommend to anyone buying this "phone" just for the looks.Waste of money and time.

  • we can't really cure jealousy you know. So, just let him be. Let him keep dreaming how to get this phone.

  • Guys listen it's simple if u want the best camera or loads of memory don't buy this phone but if u want the best looking nokia ever made then do. the design is amazing and my 24 carr gold cover looks wicked 100 quid on ebay. you can bitch all u want but everyone wants a harley davidson yet theres alot of bikes that are cheaper and faster but you buy cause of how it looks and how it makes u feel. i have had every can imagine including the new chocolate which is japanese impracticul crap. if your the kinda person who is looks and quality based and doesn't want the most techno plastic piece of crap that samsung.

  • Ladies and gentleman, The code 'Mania" use for all other names is also 'S35r'.

  • Yes Coffee, this guy 'Mania' also use other names to put this phone down; if you notice those codes behind the posted date!!! As I have guessed, this guy is one of those jealous salesman who can't afford to buy one! Also, as he mentioned, he got big fingers so the keys on this phone is difficult for him, & he his pissed off at watching other people pressing the keys so fast & easily.....but he can't do the same. Also, as a sales, he must face the phone all the time but can't own one.....how sad!!! This is going to drive him nuts,I strongly recommand this guy making an appointment with a medical doctor ASAP before it's too late for any cure!

  • Hi all! I've just traded my N80 for a 8800 about 2 weeks ago. I thought I'd be disappointed but nope! Dispite what people may say, this is a good phone. It lasts me about 2 days, which is already more than the N80. But anyhow, what I wanted to ask was that do you guys know if I can receive fax on this thing or not? Nowhere has mentioned the fax part so I don't know if it is possible or not. Can anyone help me?

  • A Aint John nor Harry or even danielle I'm Mania as mentioned in the name so please get your facts right before writing who you think people might be. I still stick with the decision that the Nokia 8800 is the handset which is out there to rip people off. A Handset thats been out for over a year and the cost of it is the same is a ripoff handset. Nothing to get jealous about when there's handsets like the LG Chocolate phone which is 100 times better than the Nokia 8800 and the 8910i which is also alot better than 8800 The reasons why I dislike the 8800 are as follows. 1 Battery Life, battery tends to die very quickly on the phone which means if your on a call for about one hour the battery dies which is a pity. 2 The price of the handset is too much especially if it's been out for ages 1.6 years 3 The camera is crap on the phone, what was the point in putting a crap handset 4 Menu system, It's basic it doesn't offer anything new on the h/set 5 The flips on the 8800 dend to break easily, We get complaints all the time where I work with that handset. 6 The black version of the Nokia the ink comes off, It's just painted black 7 When making a call on the 8800 the calls sometimes cut off 8 Inside the Titanium case there's a phone what looks like a cheap seamans. Where's only one good thing I can say about the h/set is the design. So summerise all this up and you realise your getting ripped off. So all you Nokia 8800 owners out there who are happy be happy. Me personally I think it looks like a ladies phone and the buttons are way too small. So theres no point in me getting jealous when I have big fingers and can,t text off it and there's loads of disadvantages about the 8800. I've still got the 8910i which many 8910i owners would agree it's a much better phone and looks better too in everyway.

  • ahhhh such a waste.. a $700+ phone should do better than this.. get a n90 instead...

  • Yeap I agree with you "8800 owner". They just jealous coz they can't afford it. Hmm jealousy.

  • WARNING :- Mandelle , Mania , John , Harry who post negative comments about the 8800 is the same person !

  • If this guy "Mania" do not like this phone and want it so badly and also get so jealous of people who can afford to own / or people who is considering of buying one, why do you think he kept on comming back to this 8800 forum and keep on giving negative comment???!!!

  • my parents has this phone, my dad have the black one while my mom have the silver one... nice to look at though...

  • Crap phone for an expensive price, hwo ever has the 8800 are complete mugs And guess what, the gold versions out which makes the silver 8800 look like a piece of tin. owners of the 8800 have been ripped off and hope u slide breaks

  • Excellent phone. I still love it 100%. Great battery life, recharge only require a maximum of 1 hour........unlike other phones which takes 2.5 to 3.5 hrs. for a complete charge.

  • Rubbish phone for a high-price...

  • BEst pHone eVer!!

  • The 8800 looks quite good but I strongly advise people to keep well away. I've had nothing but problems with this 8800 handset. The slide always breaks and low voice so when your talking tro somebody u can't hardly hear them unless they are shouting at you

  • I really dislike the phone, the phone was meant to be waterproof do I went swimming with my 8800 and it stopped working. It is not waterproof and it also isn't scratchproof neither Azad from Phones 4u told me this handset was waterproof and it has 3g I soon found out this isn't true so I sent my handset back. They wouldnt take it back because they said it was wet due to misinformation given to me It's a very dissapointing handset and it makes me want to puke, please keep well away from the 8800 it's a true ripoff

  • Koureas my apologies, i've just read your post and I fully 100% agree with you there. 8800 is overpriced and is getting very old, the design aint that good niether it looks old

  • Koureas you really need to read peoples comments properly then you may have a true understanding on what people are trying to say. Most of the people on here including myself have owned a Nokia 8800 that's why they are making there feelings clear of the ladies basic handset that's well overpriced. So please be clear Koureas or maybe you need to learn more English before making actual comments and learn to read properly. Nokia 8800 is a overpriced handset with basic functions and it's getting old and boring now so please keep away from the handset there's loads of handsets out there that laugh at the basic 8800

  • Excellent phone. I still love it 100%. Although I also encounter the same short battery life(still last me a full day with a lot of business calls), but a full recharge only require a maximum of 1 hour........unlike other phones which takes 2.5 to 3.5 hrs. for a complete charge.

  • In regard to some previous posts about the design and style of 8800 equal the price of it,this thought can't be more wrong. Expensiveness is not always synonym with design, style or quality. Nokia 8800 is an overpriced product without a reason. This phone has nothing to show or you have nothing to expect from it. If you want a bibelot or something to show off this phone is for you. If you want a decent, reliable or good featured phone this Nokia 8800 is not for you. In market there are better alternatives.Simple as that. Nokia 8800 is an expensive and not worthy phone.Nokia should be ashamed for this rip off. I bought this phone from the first day of its release, expecting that this Nokia 8800 as an upgrade would be better from the previous 8-series models but i was wrong .(Even 8910 is better and classic than this). I used both versions 3.60 and 3.78 and none of them work properly. Surely this "phone" has low battery life, functionality, performance and many software problems. It's an expensive and not worthy phone.I wouldn't have a problem if it was a decent, reliable expensive phone. I agree with the most negative reviews on this phone. As for the fanatics owners of this phone they should be real, see 8800 problems and not praise or defend this phone without a reason to do so,saying again and again the same cheap excuse that people is jealous and can't afford it. This phone was a waste of money and time.Believe it or not.

  • Luke : I have brought a total of nine(9) 8800 in the past year, I am very happy with my very last one(3.78v) because it is absolutely faultless(unlike those other seven which I did encounter different small problems. The other one was a present for my mother; nine months ago.....she is very happy & still using it). I dropped mine on the ground(cement) on a rainy day 3 days ago & the four corners of the metal case was all damaged. I am waiting for my 10th 8800 to arrive next week. I buy mobile phones all the time just for fun I have tried so many of them, but to me; this 8800 from Nokia is still the best! regards, phone player

  • Man, First of all, this phone is made from steel. Secondly, this phone is delicate but tough......,so Nokia did not say if this phone is meant for male or female. It's none of your business who it's meant for.........it's just not for jealous people like you!

  • Mania, So your are one of those poor mobile phone repairer who can never afford a 8800!........I am so sorry for you! This is still the best looking, best design & best build quality phone around........for ladies & gentleman who can afford it!!!!!!!!!

  • To Man 2006-05-31 10:19 S35r It`s steel not titanium....maybe, you havn`t seen the phone, but keep posting bad opinions.... I`m happy with mine...100% Best regards to all 8800 users...

  • Have to disagree with you there, The nokia 8800 is a basic phone, all you are paying for is the titanium case. Open the nokia up and it's basic, so really Nokia made a titanium case placed a very cheap handset inside it and Been out too long and there's too many handsets out there which laugh at the 8800 The features are horrible on the 8800. For those who disagree all you have to do is read all the negative feedback on the 8800 tin phone there's loads i've been having a right laugh. 8800 is for those who like to be truly ripped off, handset was intended for the rich but the handset is basic I've had friends who had these handsets mainly girls. The buttons are small so the real man out there would keep well clear from the 8800. Handset is a womens phone

  • Doesn't matter how wealthy you are, the 8800 is a ladies phone with small buttons that is overpriced. The cheaper phones out there are worth more than the Nokia 8800 The Nokia 8800 aint worth it The 8800 is a ripoff and definately not worth the price Inside the 8800 is a basic cheap phone, open it up, u be thinking to yourself why did I buy this basic phone

  • *YAWN* ugly,boring,over-rated.

  • To Ben 2006-05-30 15:05 RNFL , You can buy & use the other cheap phones, cheap cars etc. This phone is definately not for you! Thankyou for your Austrilian comment which made me understand the mentality of your people!

  • Over priced or not really depend on who you are talking to!!! I am wealthy enough, so to me the price of this phone is cheap! To the normal people who is jealous of the wealthy who own this phone........too bad! Anyway, this phone "powerful" is made for the rich & famous!!! It does not suit & not meant for the cheap people!!!

  • Ive had this phone for about 4 months now it is i can say the MOST beautiful phone in the world before this i had the k750i and the samsung t809 abd the pebl but this phone is much superior to the rest. The only problems ive had is that the battery life is too short at least for me cuz i talk a lot and my reception isnt very good which might be bc of t mobile and i can say the phone is not over priced at all and its a beauty. If your a phone freak like me its a must have

  • Exactly cMe! Anyway, how u doin? Still rockin with your 8800? hehehhe, same here.

  • The Nokia 8800 is all hype, i've had this handset and I handed it back within the 14 days. The worst handset ever

  • first of all phone sales people can definitely afford it in australia telstra pays very well just maybe not where ur from , secondly this phone is extremely overated it has a good design but its price is pathetic you can get something a lot better for a quarter of the cost. It may be the case that expensive cars are ni8cer but not with phones in this case im afraid

  • hi, just wanted to point out this phone is like all in the same line before it (8850, 8910 etc), it is a quality phone with all the features a grown up mature (business?)person could want, as previous models show no matter what the price is many wont mind paying it to not look silly with a out of date phone 2 months after buying it, on that basis nokia are doing it all right with this phone as with all the ones before it, one thing guaranteed - people will still want to buy this in another 6 or 12 months due to the style and "charisma" of this timeless phone long after other models from competitors have come and gone just like the 8910i an so on. Phil

  • I Agree with Lucus There's definately no reason why the 8800 should be expensive because it's quite basic and it's been going for over a year now. Nokia really need to start thinking and designing a new version of this handset and make dramatic improvements. Nokia seem to be bringing different colours out and getting logo's on them and overcharging our customers. That's why Nokia are always going to get negative feedbacks, for those who have the handset and are happy it's a good thing but me personally i've had the handset and wasn't happy with it after seeing other handsets out there which beat it. I got mine on a free upgrade but wasn't happy with the little buttons as i've got big fingers. Maybe this was designed for the Women. People might have more respect for Nokia if they brought the price down for the handset and stop been tight especially if the handset isn't worth the price they are charging. Nokia are running out of ideas. Look at LG, they have brought a excellent phone out at a good price, Nokia needs to start adding new ideas like LG.

  • Nokia 8800 is for those with little fingers, it's hard to text but if your a lady go get the phone, or if you want to have the ladies phone go ahead It's still overpriced and the new LG Chocolate phone makes the 8800 look like a crap phone

  • Lol you guys hate it so much dont buy it i have mines i love it you guy not getting make me feel better knowing not much other like myself seeing people with the same phone over and over.

  • Only those people who never actually own this phone will comment the 8800 over priced. Even mobile phone salesman want to own it after a year of selling this phone & facing it for 10 hours per day (just that those phone salesman cannot afford to spend half of their monthly salary on a phone).

  • there is no reason at all that this phone should be so expensive. the phone itself is gorgeous but it doesnt do anything, its feautures are so basic. its a beautiful but extremely over priced phone

  • Had this phone about 3 weeks now, and am STILL liking it. NO problems at all with it.... had read some bad reports, but because of its beauty was prepared to take the risk, and havent looked back. Not as advanced features as my last phone (and that was only the 6680!) but dont use many features.... i use a phone to call and text, i wouldnt use a mobile to get a good photo (I have a digital SLR for that) and i dont use it as an MP3 player, so it does MORE than i need! The whole build quality and style of this phone is pure, its sleek and its timeless.

  • Apart from it's good look; overall, this is still the best phone around that money can buy!

  • I have some Nokia 8800 for sale. All are brand new and very cheap. Waiting your emails at rudy_taylor2006.at.com

  • I got dat fone its a sik fone yh no one diss it ok ok ok

  • Hi, Just want to know if anyone here with the black 8800 comes with the black charger? cause my german friend got me a black 8800 from germany and it comes with a black charger but the little part on the phone where you put your ear to when you talk is silver on mine, but black in some online photos...... Anyone knows why? Thanks

  • evrybody here probly only hates the 8800 because your model broke and now your looking for a new phone, meanwhile ppl with working models are happy and not here looking for anew one. i have one and it works fine, and i do keep it in the pouch to protect it..... if you the kind of person that has unique expensive taste, you like slide phones, your not fussed about megapixels and you use your phone to (heaven forbid) make phone calls! do yourself a favour and buy this phone...as soon as you take it out the box youll know this is the phone for you

  • Have this phone for 6 months now. Never bored with it. The look is so sexy. I've had W800 and D600 before, with so many other phones, but they can't make me stay for more than a month. But this phone never bored me! Just Love it!!

  • Phone is EXpensive and the battery life is poor. How can a 500 phone have a worser battery life that a say 100 phone. I have had this for 3 weeks now and its kinda growing on me. I keep it in the pouch and even without that the marks aren't that bad unles u constantly staring at the phone up close like a weirdo. ITS A BORING PHONE but thats why i bought it so step off people. Its a good phone, features are a bit poor, but it will last and the style will continue to live.

  • Super Awesome phone with such a great price! Go get it!

  • The 8800 marks easily, my ex gf got one and even though it's a ladies phone she hated it and sent it back because it marks easily with fingerprints. Even the black version of the 8800 marks, all nokia has done is painted the handset with black paint and sold it to mugs who like to get ripped off. People who want to buy this handset will be dissapointed within 1 week unless they have little fingers or if they are a women

  • this phone is very expensive and has limited feature unlike the other phone w/c was little bit expensive but high performance

  • best phone ever!

  • now SHIBB you sound like a sound geeza i agree wi what your saying the phones over rated n ye im in the mood for a good smoke some jackiera would go down a treat drather spend my money on a couple o onze o green and a few g's o snow init could even set up shop with amount that phone sets you back

  • too expensive!!! with a o.5 camera and 50 mb of memory...is not worthing,it is am female phone!

  • this phone is so lightweight even to a man of my puny muscular definiton. perhaps i should buy it for all the features it has. its a pity that it doesn't grow marra, as i could do with a smoke......ba da ba da bar!!!

  • Very much agree with u there Daddy, It's a basic phone for nerds

  • i think this phone is overcharged and over rated i think it's a posers phone and certainly for those show offs who believe the way to be liked is to have expensive shiny things.personally after using the h/set i would rather tear my own eye balls out with an orbital sander than spend that much money on this phone. This phone has been made for poeple with more money than sense for people who don't care how much they spend on a h/set as long as they look good (sad) overall this phone is for gimps

  • Nokia 8800 is not the handset you want to get, It's a pile of crap and it's for the ladies. Men who have this women's phone you really need your head testing because it's purely for the women. It has small fingers for ladies and it's like a makeup container. Don't get it's not worth it Agree with all u guys out there who dislike the phone, my old w800 is better than that

  • Jason, If you've not noticed this is where people voice there opinions. If somebody doesn't like the 8800 like myself they are going to express it. Just because some ofus in here dislike the 8800 it doesn't mean there a cramp. I presume you area a owner of the boring handset and that's why you sound like your going to have a cry. Nokia 8800 has loads of faults, it will be on watchdog soon because there's more and more people complaining about it everyday. Handset is boring and lacks the features of the Nokia 6230i and the 8800 is over priced and that's the known facts So whoever has the 8800 I feel you have been truly ripped off by nokia

  • I agree with John that theres nothing worse than having a phone and knowing every one else has it which will make you feel commmon. Also i understand about the design flaws and lack of features however its looks and rariety makes up for it.So having a price makes the phone exclusive just like the nokia 8850 / 8910i and seperates the good and the ugly also stops evil tramps who want to complain about this phone.

  • your definately right the 8800 is a boring phone and the battery life is bad Sony ericsson will beat nokia anytime 8800 looks good but its boring and overpriced

  • The phone looks nice and unique

  • After monitoring the posts on this website for sometime I feel I must post my opinion. Myself and my partner Khalid both purchased the 8800 on contract with Vodafone a little over 8 months ago and are dismayed at the negative reviews that it has received. Having worked in the mobile phone industry for sometime and having had several phones in the past I must say that the 8800 is a peach and at the pinnacle of fashion and design stakes in the mobile industry. Khalid and I go clubbing from Paris to Berlin and all the different men I meet comment on how brilliant my phone is. This is mainly when I go west in Europe as I am a big clubbing fan. The comments people make about that last of features don't wash with me. The 8800 say's what it does on the tin, make call's, send sms and take photo's, I mean sorry, what more do you want from the phone? In one final comment I would like to say that I now to drive a BMW and am a firm believer that image is everything that's why I love the 8800

  • I used to have one as well, got it as a free upgrade, I have 3 things to say about the 8800. 1 It's a nice handset and too many asian brotha have them but Keep well away it's not worth the price wait till the price goes down because it's overpriced and you will get ripped off. 2 The slide tends to break easily on the 8800 and to get it repaired nokia takes months to send your handset back. 3 It's true about the sound quality, it's not that clear and it breaks up. 4 Doesn't have wifi, crap camera, no 3g 5 It's not scratchproof because mine is scratched. 6 These are facts, If the handset was all that I be 1st to admit it because I have one but It's definately not the best out there not by far, it's overhyped and overpriced. This comes from a true brotha Rajab

  • Rahul, Question 1:- Why did you buy it in the first place if you said that the buttons are small. Didn't you try it before you buy it??? Question 2:- If this is a girl's phone, then why did you buy it? Were you a girl at the time when you buy this phone??? Sound like a lot of nonsense / BS!!!!!!!!!.....I guess you have nothing better to do!!!!!!! This is a serious site for owner & user of 8800 to post their comment.........but not for people like you sc**wing around!!!!!!!

  • This phone is a piece of art.........and art is priceless!!! You people who cannot afford this 8800 phone & buy something else; but no point to put this phone down!!! Just like you guys can ware some cheap clothes, but I'll stick to my Gucci & LV!!! Thankyou.

  • The 8800 is for people with small fingers, Had one, sold it because the buttons are very small and it's a ladies phone I agree with mania, keep well away it's a crap phone and its expensive too, not worth it

  • For all haters, you should really buy this phone, trust me and you will know that this phone is truly fantastic. I love using it and never have problems at all. No problem with the keypad at all, love it!!

  • I work for o2 and people always complain 8800 always broken. They tell me battery die all time and cant hear other person on other side. I used to have one and it kept cuttin off when i speaking to friend. Very Very Bad Bad bad Handset I will stick with K750i Better and it look very good indeed. All my family got 8800 but not very very happy anymore Get a K750i

  • When buying the Nokia 8800 your buying the phone for the looks, inside the phone is basic, trust me open it up and have a look yourself then you know where i'm coming from. It's a womens phone not a mens phone, the buttons are too small so for all the guys out there with girlie fingers and small hands you might appreciate the phone. Phone is to overpriced as well considering your only going to use it to answer calls. Voice quality is dull, look in the mobile magazines and see the experts comments, the nokia 6230i has a higher rating and the sound quality is much better. Fot those who have bought the handset I feel sorry for you because you've been ripped off. Nokia are running out of bright ideas. As i mentioned it's a girlie phone, slide tends to break on them after 3 months. Again the overpriced Nokia handset isn't worth it considering there's cheaper nokia handsets out there that beat it on stats. No extendable memory, no wifi, not symbian enabled, low battery 1 - 2 hours seaktime and the picture quality is horrible and its quite heavy, small dinky buttons, It was especially made as a womens phone but some men out there who havr this handset felt like a lady when buying it and then got ripped off truly. The owners of nokia are sitting back having a right laugh, They are bringing pink versions and other colours just so mugs will buy the handset hehe Not a hater on nokia, just on the basic 8800 ripoff phone

  • Kenny you are on fire.I love you man. Cheers for the sexiest phone ever. Just a few real people could appreciate the existing of that phone.

  • The best design, style and display quality. Worth the price. Stainless steel and scratchproof display. Poor features and batery life but you have to pay the price to be COOL. Do you agree?:)

  • Great looking phone. There is no phone on the market so far that look so good & elegant. This phone of does look flashy but it last(this kind of design not easy!!!). This is the best phone for the classy people(definately not for boys........because they do not even know how to appreciate a great design!) The more I use the 8800, and compare to the more newcomer phones I own recently, the more I appreciate & recommand this phone to people who is thinking of buying this PIECE OF ART.

  • Wow!! I like this phone so much! Super awesome features, great battery life and all! I dont even have to use the 2nd stock of battery! Great buy!

  • I agree with must people that perhaps this phone is over priced for what it offers but the idea of this model is not about features but uniqueness. I own this phone and I admit it has faults but I'm happy to know that its rare and that most people won't come across it. Its not a common phone, this is backup by all the 8000 series remember the 8850, 8910i etc not based upon features but uniqueness and rarity oh and a high price tag, but if you owned them you know that must people wouldnt have it. Theres nothing worst than having a phone and knowing every one else has it, it just makes you common.

  • 8800 Not the best phone out there, best looking phone maybe but as far as the phone itself it doesn't offer much, Sony w810i is better, imagine that handset in the samer nokia style which would you go for? 8800 inside is so basic you will end up giving it a kick and maybe give it to your mum or grandma

  • Nokia 8800 isn't worth the price, It's been out ages and it's overpriced. Nokia are doing everything to sell the handset, they have painted it black, also they have the Aston Martin logo on it and are selling that for 949 limited version because of the engraved logo. Nokia are having a laugh and to be honest nokia isn't ripping me off. Nokia are doing everything possible to sell the 8800 at a rip off price. Had a 8800 gave it to me sister, and the buttons are very tiny, if you have big fingers your going to have big problems, It's a ladys phone and it doesn't offer you much. Proce for the handset it truly a ripoff, No Thankyou Nokia Ill go with the Sony ericsson.

  • My dad just got dis fone believe me it sucks, why should it be so expensive when it has nothing to offer xcept stainless and non scrachable screen.

  • You are right, this phone is really good! Probably the best ever.

  • dang so much votes so much replies this phone must be really good sense so many people like it

  • This is a paki fone

  • This phone is a piece of art from every angle.

  • whats the diff between 8800 and 8801.

  • sorry for the bad typing and bad english below LOL

  • my third nokia will be with me on tuesday none of the ohters have worked properly got my second nokia and 10 hours later called vodafone for a replacement it lasted only 15 seconds before turning off Vodafone are useless as they only ever send a refurbished 8800 has a replacement the one they sent me as the first replacement even had a the sliding mechanisim not working properly and the screen is extremley use have more than one contract with vodafone but still send me other peoples broken second hand phones as a replacement completley useless both nokia and vodafone

  • Trust me, this phone is worth every penny of my hard earned money.

  • This is a nice looking phone.......no doubt. This phone is so nice to hold & so easy to use & so elegant looking; I just can't find or name another phone which can compare to this 8800 ay the present moment! Well, this phone is not perfect, but almost..........

  • Nokia 8800 is nice and poterble is admirable i like nokia product Nokia please keep it up N/B my 8800 has screen problem some numbers will call it will ring some will call it will not ring please i need help.

  • you're right Mjke.. it is only a phone!.. nor is any of this all that serious!... therefore i didnt see the need to write something new in order to reiterate the same point seeing that so many poeple are still making statements as to why they cant understand why anyone would buy this phone for the price it is being sold... didnt see the need to write something new to get the exact same point across... didnt realize that anyone cared THAT much..lol!.. its nice to know that you care Mjke... dont have alot of time on our hands do we Mjke?! :-).. that being the case.. i will never cut and paste my own stuff again Mjke!.. i'm sorry Mjke

  • da phone HOT to HOT man!

  • Kenny. This is the second time posting exactly the same message. If you don't have something else to say it's better not copy and paste the same message. So give it a break. It's only a phone. I had this phone and one thing i know for sure is that this phone isn't worth it in every aspect.Believe it or not.

  • Still the best phone you can buy on the market, period.

  • Why is there so much talk about this phone?!.. this forum has so many posts and so many heated arguments.. what is it about this phone that brings out the primal beast in people! My God man!!.. is this phone THAT powerfull?! All of you that hate on this phone should ask yourslf that question!! Can a Rolls Royce go from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds.. no! Is it packed full of brightly lit LCD screens connected to DVD players... NO! Does it have a supercharged motor kicking out 500+ horses..no!!.. well so much for specs!! The same reason why we love the Rolls is the same reason why we love this phone.. it does what its supposed to do so much better than the rest, and does it with absolute undeniable style. To my fellow 8800 owners.. Cheers! .. to everyone else.. live a little and treat yourself to somethin nice... if the price turns you off, all that means is that you're not a Rolls Royce type of person.. nothin wrong with that. There's room in this world for u too! ;-)

  • Thsoe who are class they will get this phone to outclass your cheapass k750, k750 but got techonology and stuff but this phone was meant for it's look

  • too much $$ for this phone, i know the k750 and w600 will outclass this any day. overrated phone.

  • I have had this phone for a year now and is a very easy to use compact nice lookin phone. Only draw back is battery life, but this is sorted by Nokia by providing two batteries and a desk top charging unit that can charge both at once. Great one by Nokia, saw a problem and covered it before it became an issue.

  • Wow!!! Superb phone! Great battery life and scartch resistant glass. This is the 6th month since the day I bought my 8800 and never experience any problem at all! I text a lot and make a lot of call as well, still the battery holds for 5 days, a week max! WORTH EVERY PENNY! buy this phone!! You wouldn't have to worry about every people in your place have the same phone.

  • Great phone, just if you guys don't know it support also 3G technology..KOOL..

  • Nokia 8800 is a nice looking handset but it's boring and out of date. Doesn't do much, easy to scratch and the buttons are too small, if you have little fingers or if your a lady then you may like the phone if your getting it based on looks. Nokia have brought a black version out, what a joke, nokia are laughing at the people buying there 8800, same but just in black. What next pink? Nokia are making easy money but just painting the handset. Battery and talktime is very poor, Wouldn't buy it if you paid me, nokia are ripping people off and the handset isn't worth it, not even worth 30.

  • After a year on the market, this is still the best looking & definately the most user friendly phone I have owned(I own more than 10 other phones including Samsung P300,Moto A1200, SE, & some other Chinese & Korean joint venture production phones. (Forget about my Vertu, it's not that nice although the sound quality & built is excellent).

  • i have got this couple of days it is a very nice fone??? but memory is low??? d500 memory is bigger than this???

  • Creature from t-mobile

  • Eventhough the function sucks but look how thin and small it is !!

  • Creature; you are bit late coz its too late

  • I have heard a rumours that there is to be a black 8800 released which i need immy life. does anyone know if this is true and if so when and where can i get one!!!!

  • i ordered myself one and cant wait to get it i even went ahead and got my bluetooth adaptor for my pc i am excited even though I am more of motorola phone lover maybe this will win me over to Nokia's I was just a bit suprised at how simple the phone looks foe something that cost $1200 but oh well I hope its worth it..

  • this phone is only for fashion, it looks good but the batttery sucks it has less features than the other nokia phones even if it looks good.

  • I bought my Nokia 8800 a couple of weeks ago and this phone is excellent A+. Im 100% happy so far and all my mates are looking to get one too. Great looking, easy to use, and really well built. Girlfriend bought me a goldplated mobile phone cover for the Nokia 8800 from www.Goldplating.co.uk and it now looks super cool! Alex, London

  • wowwwww, this cell is fabolous, and sexy this cell is made for high class society no battery problem i luv this 8800.

  • well..the screen isn't very scrath resistant as advertised, but the build quality is impressive, same is the box of the phone, battery - it lasts one day, good metal feeling into the hand, here in romania every one has one (the silver colour), never seen the black one, seen the gold one (terrible gipsy-like look), worth about maximum 400 euros to pay for one, not 650 as is now the price, i won't sell it because i like it. i;ll replace it only with the next 8 series or with a entry level vertu (if released as i read on one post in here).

  • classic handset i m just waiting for its price to go down but even though it beat all its category........its pride n prestiguos

  • batteryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!... very veryyyy poor and important deficency

  • I got this phone last month. It's just a piece of art. And it's certainly not for everyone. But what I love most is reading the posts from those they hate it cause they can't reach it.

  • This phone is wicked! Mine has no problem at all. Better than any other phones, indeed! Trully recommended for all!!!!

  • This phone is truly a nightmare. I purchased two one for my wife and one for myself being that we are guilty of foregoing content over style. Boy what a mistake! Mine has been replaced 3 times and I have now given up completely on the 8800 and opted for something more reliable and stable (and free). My wifes has been replaced twice and were it not for her higher tolerance levels for glitches in the firmware, would have been exchanged again by now. In total between us we have had FIVE 8800s over the last 3 months We have experienced the following: Phone reboots itself without reason during calls and whilst creating texts Sliding cover fails after about 2 months Battery life is short and the level indicator has no bearing on reality When speaking to customer services having received my 3rd faulty phone I was advised by the representative that the 8800s are indeed a nightmare and was advised to not bother replacing but exchanging for something else. Yes, thats correct the service provided actually recommended a full refund over another 8800 replacement! The Nokia 8800 is a top end phone (price wise). Its difficult to spend this kind of money on a functionally limited phone where style is the selling point unless, you want to go into the crazy realms of Vertu. I cannot believe Nokia have released a top end phone like this that is so compromised did they actually test it do they have any quality control ? I recommend staying well clear of this phone. It may look cool and engineered but, it is far from a relaxing thing to own.

  • fu-k nokia better make iit cheaper.otherwise this will be left as a brick in middle east..i wish they were ;istining to me

  • My boifreind has gat this fone..n now we are fighting to get me one......This phone is absolutely FAB and CLAASY!

  • the most uninterestingly phone nokia ever built.

  • i work for o2 in england and nokia 8800 is the h/set for wot we get al probs wi n its really no good

  • guys what is the latest firmware for this phone?mine is 3.78

  • I just bought this phone few days ago and i am already in love with it. Very easy to use. Looks great, feels good. This phone is for a man who respects style and quality. Best phone which was ever made by Nokia Good job!!!

  • Wow!! received the phone last week. Superb battery life. Dont trust those haters who say that the battery life sucks. It is NOT. Mine holds for about a week and it is totally awesome. I always put it inside my pocket with keys and coins and has no scratch at all! Simply awesome phone!! Great receiver and sexy looking. Recommended for all!!!

  • this phone is amazing i have had it 20 mins and im loving it sooooooooo much the shell is scratched all ready

  • the phone is basic vga camera which is rubbish and the worst phone ever made by man

  • hi all, No doubt Nikia 8800 is a amazing cell fone and no need to campare to other cell fones thats y i m useing this, but still im facing a major problem wid this set and that is battry timing really i m tired now, u knw i have to take a spare batt wid me all the time coz first batt works till 2 or 3 pm and onward i put my second batt for my conviniance and dnt miss any chance to charge wen i get any , but still i love this set ,NOKIA 8800 ur the best

  • Just got this fone. Its classy Its slick Its fabulous Not only just having a pro look, also has the pro tools. Who needs a megapixel phone. Why not just get a camera. fourth the price. It fits easily in my suit jacket or on the back side of my jeans. And bcoz of the diamond cut screen and the steel body not worried abt any scratches. Get alot of stains, Every beautiful thing is this world in sensitive ;) Get this baby. If u are stylish. Bcoz fashion repeats but style never dies

  • Super awesome phone. Great battery life! Mine holds up to 5 days. I text and make phone calls a lot. What a fantastic feature. Do not need fancy 2Mp camera and Mp3 players, those are rubbish. Greatest phone ever!!

  • 8800 is a great looking & durable phone. Some build-in features are exclusive to this phone only. Still love it after using it for almost a year..........

  • really rubbish phone just basic.i had to sell it off to a novice who didn't know much bout it and bought myself the classic nokia 8910i,which commands more respect and class wherever you go.trust me every body thats seen it asked were to get one.really awesome phone.will buy it again i mean the 8910i *****

  • just bought nokia 8800 in silver , wicked phone only faults i have found. Texting hard with small buttons, but not a major issue, Other than that best phone i have purchased. will out last in looks and durability every phone out there on the market.

  • this fone is mintage, and indestrubtable!

  • Really cool I like it. but one problem why all the complaints

  • The Nokia 8800 Black looks sexy. I found the cheapest price on www.foneplanet.com. Looks much better then the silver with the same great features.

  • this nokia cell phone is really a amazing and high class, why there price should be decreasing soo rapidly

  • Seriously! I love this phone so much!! Get yourself a nokia 8800, simply awesome!!

  • I dont know why it smell like some of the NOKIA compotators are putting the feedbacks here to show the NOKIA 8800 down

  • its simple easy scratch casing rubbish technology nokia 6230i has more about it than this pile of junk

  • The feature of this phone may sound simple to some people.........BUT, some of the features of this phone is not even present in any other mobile phones on the market(including other Nokia models)!!!

  • It is a nice phone but it is to expensive for its features!I think the phone is only for showofers thats why it is so expensive so the people should buy it, so they can say their cooler because they have a better phone!!

  • The BEST phone I have ever had!!!

  • The Nokia 8800 isn't worth the price, had one already and it's just a handset that's based on looks. No features at all and all what's in the titanium case is a basic phone. Small Memory, low voice quality, battery life is bad, one hour calltime if your lucky, you need to charge it 3 times a day if you talk for more than 1 hour and if you have big fingers the buttons are really hard to use as the buttoms are very small so you will be pressing the wrong buttoms it's a ladylike phone so good for the ladies is they only want to answer and make calls I'll let you guys make up your mind and please tell us what you think.

  • its definitely not worthed to buy this phone for that much money..u r paying so much money for nothing its just a regular basic phone i cant find anything special to pay the money i did.nokia is using their name and riping off people..this is making me a hater of nokia aswell.

  • stinksssssssssssssssssssssss economy -100

  • Owh yea, that "huachai" probably has better features than Nokia 8800, but they "copied" this phone. It is not original and yes you can say that its a lot more cheaper but its for 3 months only and it will brake appart. This "huachai" will cost more in a long term.

  • Hey, for all the nokia 8800 haters and people who can't afford it, there is a chinese version of this phone, who look alike the 8800 it's made by "huacai", it featured a better screen, and a 2mega pixel caemra. i've seen it on ebay a while ago, and it's quite cheap compare to other phones on the market with the same features, so for all you guys who thinks that the 8800 isn't all that, you can have alook at this phone which as stylish and with more features ;)

  • im haveing a problem keeping my phone clean the black part on the back off the phone whee the camera is keeps getting stained and when i apply water and cloth it does nothing

  • Physical Properties: Looks Great Nice Weight Well Sized Easy Handling Chemical Properties: User Friendly Good Reception Balanced Features

  • Very true N8800, its very friendly and I'm really sick of my N6630 I always forget where to go and I always lost in there don't know somewhere

  • This may be a basic phone........but it is so user friendly, so good looking & the phone is so comfortable to hold(it's overall dimension)in your hand. Wealthy people do not usually need a hand phone packed with features(they already have almost everything)!!!

  • I really like this phone but the only problem is that it's really easy to dent the back battery cover.

  • Some times you pay for the feature but some times for the looks and this is the time for the looks in N8800 case ;-)

  • does any1 know how much it cost to change my 8800 glass?it scratch a small scratch acctually almost invisible but a scratch make this fone ugly so i wan to change it..how much it cost in ebay?

  • Noikia people should think about improving the battery time of this phone.

  • We sell about 1400 phones per month and I think we've sold about 10 of these in the past SIX months!!! The phone works well enough. It's not better than a 200$ Nokia (nobody said it was) Fact is, the phone looks sharp, has better fit and finish than any other phone I've seen. As far as the price...The price is what keeps it out of the reach of most people and you're paying for exclusivity. You won't walk into a restaurant and see 25 other people with your phone, like when you're using, say, a RAZR.

  • discusting phone if u ask me nokia should wear a mask and striped jumper for the price of it

  • I got the 8800 phone on a upgrade, Looks great, feels great, opened the phone up and guess what it's basic. Has to be one of the most basic phones i've ever used, It's definately not worth the money and nokia must be having a laugh. I know Nokia can do better, if the 8810 had more features it could of been a phone killer. Inside the actual handset is so basic it makes you want to place the phone on the floor and stamp on it a few times If your after the looks on the phone and nothing else and you don't mind been ripped off go ahead it's your call. Again it's just my opinion on the phone.

  • To chris you can buy a new keypad on ebay only place i can think of. they got keypad back cover front cover screeen all replaceable parts exactly like the original and some of it comes with tool and instruction on doing it yourself its very ez i bought a set 3weeks ago almsot a month fix'd it myself. but the replacable part are expensive i bought it for $134 usd came with tools instruction and the parts look in to it

  • io bought this nokia 8800 4 months ago.it si nice but the only problem, big problem nobody is fixin the phone in the usa.and one of the buttons broke down and nobady can fix it.big problem.and i paid 1000$.very stupid..please somebody knows where too fix it???

  • this phone is beautiful, if you want something thats sleek and classy, this is the one, dont complain about battery life and functionality, cause this phone wasnt made for that, if thats what you looking for buy a p910i or any other pda

  • so damn i go buy a 8800 and 8801 ill keep 8801(box) and keep 8800(phone) and put 8801(phone) in nokia 8801(box) and sell it back for full price.

  • The only difference between the 8800 (europe & Asia) and the 8801 (US & canada) is that the 8800 works on GSM 1900, 1800, and 900 and the 8801 works on GSM 1900 , 1800, and 850.. As for the difference in the prices of them both, i wasnt aware that there was a difference. If there is, its probably due to the different markets they're being sold in.. i'm just guessing here.. so who knows!!

  • this phone is not worth 600 usd come to talk of 1000usd

  • i agree is there way to tell the difference???

  • just posted posting again so beside features is there something that tells u this is 8800 phone on the phone???

  • To Kenny you responded to my other comment but for instinct if i buy a 8800 and a 8801 of corse 8800 mroe expensive then i jus dump the 8801 phone into 8800 box and sell the 8801 as 8800 price and keep 8800 and 8801 box like it matters just a box.... and i keep the better phone there nothing that said the origin of phone??

  • Totally agree with Kenny. I guess, those who cant afford it can go with another phone. Don't bad talk this phone.

  • Why is there so much talk about this phone?!.. this forum has so many posts and so many heated arguments.. what is it about this phone that brings out the primal beast in people! My God man!!.. is this phone THAT powerfull?! All of you that hate on this phone should ask yourslf that question!! Can a Rolls Royce go from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds.. no! There's room in this world for u too! ;-)

  • .. the 8800 and the 8801 is the same phone!.. the 8801 is the name given to the models being sold in the US and Canada, 8800 is the name for the ones solf in europe and everywhere else.. all the same features and everything else exactly the same

  • hi was wondering can anyone tell me a way to tell the difference between 8800 and 8801 i know that 8800 can be uses worldwide and 8801 is for us only but is there way to tell difference just wondering so if i buy 1 some1 wont sell me 8801 in a 8800 box or something??

  • guyz great phone . feedback if this phone is being discontinued

  • you all make me laugh. If you don't like the phone then don't get it. If you like the phone then get it. I have the black & the original on o2. So Far I have had no problems I had the Original from Last year July & the Black one a month ago I got in Edgware Road. Roaming in US & France has been ok. Wouldn't change it as my friend has the N70 & N90 said the BATTERY LASTS A DAY TOO. Holla

  • Come on guys whats happening, are you all turning into women. no offense to those of you who are. but please all of this is stupid. and my word 799 cos its BLACK. more money than sense. get a very good computer built for that, and whats worse is this thing dont even work properly. So please your as bad as each other. the phone has problems yes but if you want to shell out that kind of money its your own stupidity. Just the possiblity of it being as bad as some are saying would put a sain person off. oh well. Peace!!

  • the color black 8800 is nice.

  • the best of the nokia or other mobilephones.

  • ha ha ha ha u buy a phone 799.99 which technology isnt that good just cos of its looks foolish person must be mad to buy a phone for that much

  • Gotta be done.... I'm buyin the black version for 799 off the Nokia UK website! So cool!

  • To coffee: First of all i wouldn't want to involve in a useless dialogue but i would like to give an answer to you because you continue insistently reply to me. Once again you are trying pointlessly to mention or say something.I don't want to get down to your level. To me you are nothing but immature person who has nothing to do but wandering around to websites and having useless dialogues with others.Dialogues without a reason and purpose.Like dialogues of little kids. I doubt that you have ever owned Nokia 8800 because you should have already known that this phone has low voice clarity, poor battery life, functionality, performance and a lot more other software problems. As for me YES i owned a 8800. Surely i don't want your permission to post my negative reviews on this "phone" and if you are not a democratic person that's your problem not mine. Nobody tries to slate this phone and nobody is pretending up nothing. I only speak with facts and through my experiences. Like i said i try to help and inform people for Nokia 8800 major problems as an ex-owner and user of this phone and not do the same mistake of buying this phone like i did. Nothing more ,nothing less. If you don't understand this simple thing what can i do.Your behavior will be judged by others. I bought this phone from the first day of its release, expecting that this Nokia 8800 as an upgrade would be better from the previous 8-series models but i was wrong.Honestly this phone was a waste of money and time. If you want to give more than 450 for a faulty, unreliable phone that's fine,it's your decision and right to do this but don't mislead people with your cheap excuses. See only the voting results going day by day down and get your own conclusion. In market there are better alternatives.Simple as that. So give us a rest and don't busy yourself and dabble with me

  • to XD3: this phone will not lose it's price, the price will be the same for atleast a year on this phone, since it is made for class and the price will be what it is.

  • The 8800 is sposed to be designed on sleek modern looks to fit into your back pocket when u get into ur tvr. However unlike a tvr it really isnt worth the money. there are so many better phones which r cheaper with better specs

  • My pleasure XD3. Glad that i can help. Well if you ask whether it is worth it or not i cant help you with that because this phone is for class. We know that Korean PornStar cant afford it so he keeps telling bad things about this phone, you know, he just not mature enough, really sad eh?

  • Thanks Coffee for answering me saying that USD 650 (RM 2500) is considered cheap, BTW its for Nokia 8800. Since now i know that it is cheap, i would like an opinion on whether the Specs. is worth it for USD 650 (RM 2500), do you think its worth it? paying for lazer cutting Stainless steel and Scratch proof screen for this amount of money? hope to hear from you soon, thanks again. i would appreciate it anyone who give me any suggesstion.

  • its way to expensey but aston martin is da man! wooooooo!!! YEAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • To coffee: Who do you think you are and try to judge others and talk like that.Surely i don't want your permission to post my negative reviews on this "phone" trying to help other people who are thinking of buying this phone not to do the same mistake like i did because i know from first-hand the inadequate "capabilities"of this "phone" as an ex-owner.Stop saying that cheap excuses again like some others did in the past. The truth hearts and you don't want to see it.If you don't know the meaning of democracy go to school and learn it. Don't bother and busy yourself with me. PS:By the way my name is Koureas G not Koreuous Z.

  • Another excuses, keep going jermaine. Blahblahblah, you can only say that. And to a person below me, yes 650USD considers cheap. Is it for a 8800? or 8801?

  • Can someone please tell me if 650USD (RM 2500) considered cheap for this phone and is it worth it to buy at this price? your reply is very much appreciated

  • LOUSY phone...buy a N80 instead...

  • To Coffee, I do know wat im talking bout.... My friend owns a cell phone shop and sold 2 of tis crap sets last year.... My God...the owners keep coming in every month with some problem...battery, software prob... Trust me....they regretted buying tis phone.... Then, both of the sets were sent to Nokia HQ bout 3 months ago for repair.... Yeah..u could guess......its still there!!! I wont want to own 1 and i dont hav to pretend so....i hav D600 and im very HAPPY wit it unlike most nokia 8800 users.... PEACE OUT....

  • I strongly agree with Jermaine84 because i know from the first hand the inadequate "capabilities"of this "phone".So i belong to the 3/4 group of people posting here.Except from the design of this "phone" which is a subjective point of view if you like it or not, there is no other reason to defend this "phone".So i don't understand the fanatics owners or fans of this "phone" trying to mention, imply or say something against other people posting here who are indignant, disappointed owners of this "phone" or don't actually like it.Surely we have heard thousand of times that cheap excuses and we are tired to hear them once again because some others they don't have something to say or don't know what they are saying. I wouldn't recommend to anyone buying this "phone" just for the looks.Waste of money and time.

  • thanks again, $homie w/ da bling$, should get my 8800 soon too, but still don't know wether i'll get the normal one then change the housings sometime, o rjust buy it all changed already, i'll keep you updated

  • Please guys, this is suppose to be a forum, helping people out when they have problems. I so wish that what ever questions posted in this forum is being answered, to help those in need. i am comtemplating of buyinf one of this phone, the cheapest i could find in my country (Malaysia) is RM2,500 (650 USD), is this considered cheap? is it worth buying it since its this cheap?Do you think that the Price will go down like Motorola V3? BTW the phone is Brand New not second hand. I hope you guys can really help me out here and give me some advice please.i really will appreciate it, thank you all in advance. From, -A person who is addicted to design with average wallet size.

  • this phone has great looks but the features let it down. batery life crap and camera no good your better off with a n80

  • To Jermaine and 3/4 others.. Then the other 3/4 including you are not smart coz you make opinions without even have the phone. Hey, if you can't afford it, dont even talk about it or dont pretend like you have one. You dont even know what are you talking about. Judging this phone base on 3/4 other opinions is stupid! Really. Pathetic..

  • To Coffee, Read all de opinions...3/4 are bad... crap phone..crap features...heavy as lumber.....and its freaking EXPENSIVE.... who's smart now??

  • now this is a GREAT phone. lousy features but great design. got my black edition from russia. juz drawing attention from onlookers everywhere. its so cool when u answer a call in a crowded place. tis is sum phone, ppl. for those who want 1, go get it. dont tink twice. de fact that not everyone can own 1 makes it even more better. only for the privileged few......

  • it's perfect it's the most beutifull phone i ever see

  • Hi, i have been aiming for this phone for quite someitme and finally found it at $650 USD. Its the cheapest i can find in the market, there is this one dealer who offered me this price. i was wondering if i should buy it? at this price is it considered cheap? should i buy? please help me, thanks -a person who is mad about design with little money and need help!!

  • the battery life is really bad.... is there a new improved battery available?

  • lousy features... this phone was not meant for that stupid... was made for design and style

  • Which colour is the best choice??? Black or Goldish

  • Dunno wats de hoo haa all about.....Expensive wit lousy features.... Not a SMART choice!!!

  • thx kenny, you putted my 2 paragraph of typing to shame lol all good struggling to pass world literature class lol

  • I have had this phone for a while now.. its the best phone i've ever had!!The phone does what its supposed to do better than any phone that i've come across. If you're looking for a phone that handles calls and operates flawlessly, and has flawless craftmanship (at least the best that u can find in any mobile phone) then this is the one for you. If you're looking fo an mp3 player.. go get an iPod.. looking for a 5mp camera, go get a digicam!! if you're looking for a phone that works and feels like a million bucks.. 8800!! I was quite skeptical about the price b4 i got mine..but actually having and using the phone is the only way to experience how outstanding this phone really is!.. they could never capture that in the specs that u read for this phone!

  • 4got 1 thing this phone was not meant to be your high tech small portable internet tablets thingy was suppose to be for style and luxury... u want a memory slot mp3 nice camera get another phone i will say again this was meant for luxury thats y the price is so high and usually stay this high this luxurious phone is expensive but thats all it is good for a i love it most poeple who bought thos phone just bought it for the way it looks if they can afford this thing they most likely perfer buying a 5-8+ megapixel camera then a camera phone which only has like 2 mp and then mp3.... go get a ipod or something holds like 1000000000000 songs then a normal phone that holds only... tops like 700 maybe not even but estimate i say...

  • i m lilian from singapore. i m utterly disappointed with the phone. firstly it is expensive! it is not worth the price. i m shocked when the phone automatically switches off by itself. i sent it for servicing today and i was told that the software had been updated but to my astonishment, the phone continues to switch off automatically. my gracious!

  • This phone is only for the elite who wants class, luxury, and "Just" a phone, no other "special features." Most people have Ipods and digital cameras; I don't need all those functions. This phone is in its own class, and the price will always stay high. Please, if you have nothing nice to say, don't post it. Thank you!
