Oooh the memory remainds....but one point I noticed in this mobile phone, the flip mecanism not so smooth as flip/calm shell from samsung or motorolla at the moment, but I love the music player, camera and the design of this product...when I upgrade this phone to Nokia N73 I sold this phone as 2nd phone to my friend and amazing he still use it till today...even just as call & text phone only

maybe it depends on the user of the phone..my n71 is working perpectly im using it for 2yrs i dont have any problems with my n71..signal,lcd,sounds,graphics,keypad,microphon­e,camera are good and working perpectly.. Before i have this n71 i have n70 i trow my n70 away becouse of signal problem im only using it for 4 dyas..i bring it in the service center of nokia then they fix it..but just an hour ago signal problem again..then i take it back to the service center..the technician said i will get my n70 in 3days they have to test it..3day past i came back the technician said that my phone is fix ..but on my way home the signal problem again..then asual i take it back again at the service center..then technician says they will contact me when my n70 is fix..but 2weaks past they havent contact me so i decided to go to the service center..then they said that they are still testing it..then 2days past they contact me..they said that they cant fix it chance ur phone..that n70 is a a waste of time and money ..

This is one hell of a crap. it's a waste of money. I suggest you guys not to buy. I own a shop here in thailand and I sold this phone to many customers back in 2006 or 2007 i guess. There was a lot of return and complaints. just a couple of months usage and the unit is still under warranty, there are software issues. LCD issues, signal issues, reception issues and many others. So, we send it back to Nokia and Nokia says it has been repaired. So it worked fine for couple of months and after that, same problems occur. its crazy. about after its 1 year warranty. people come back to my shop and convince me to buy their N71s. Its crazy I won't buy this phone coz its a lot of headache even for the seconhand market. its really a lot of trouble. and very unstable. it's like a experimental phone of Nokia. Also the Nokia N73 faces the same issue. the most stable one is the Nokia N70 compared to its other siblings. trust it from me. i'm a phone dealer. as well as a secondhand phone dealer. DON'T BUY!

Well its been three years since i got my N71 and over the period of time its been wonderful. Its fully packed with features which all work fine. The only slight draw back is the screen getting scratched with the keypad. That can be taken care of with a screen protector. I love this phone.

Yeah i got the same on my two N71. The guy in service center said that there is a problem with a cord connecting main part with the display flip part. After he replace it the problem is gone. And more of it, before phone has been fixed i try to use some 3rd party software and camra works fine with such software. I do not remember the name of the programm. More of it i was disappointed with nokia for N71 and 6290 models. They are so fragile. Both my N71 got scratchs on the screen from keypad, ocationally memory card removals, problems with a usb cable. And on 6290 cower of power supply broke after a month of usage.

I have N71 for 3 years. Now, the main camera is not working. The screen always get scratch because it hits the keypad if you are a "hard user." Sometimes it says "memory full delete some..." even if it's really not while texting then you have to restart it all over again. That's the only problem I have.

I bought this phone in somewhere 2006 2nd Quater, I am really Happy with this nokia product however later I made some changes due to that it started facing issues Spares are really big problem for this model rest this phone is the best in its own class. The memory of your phone shows full when you recieve your sms. Solution- go to messaging.Go to option.Choose setting.In setting,choose 'other' setting.Select memory.Change it to the 'memory card'.After that your phone will work fine.

you need to replace the ribbon inside the fold. the connecting ribbon in between the main display and the keys has been damaged.

I got n nokia n71 it hang up all time and send it in for repairs came back and its stil the same, if i try to go on the internet the screan tune black and the phone try to restart and the screan turne black agen i have to take the batry out and pres green buton star nr3 and hold then pres the star butom, till the phone start it will not sart unles i do this, i try this code *#7370# and *#7780# and it sill do the same what can i try to fix my phone i like this phone a lot .

i opened my camera and my cam wasn't working, and i took it to a service, they said that the upper board on the phone was corroded and that they can't fix it! a new board is 460$!!!! and i thought that it was maby the software, so i downloaded the new version 4.0642.1.05 BUT IT WAS EVEN WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!! my phone now does not have a camera or a loud speaker, it slows down and it hangs up calls, even the screen is scratched - by its own keys!!!!!!!!!!! it is a stupid phone i hate it I REALLY DO! Had the phone for about 2 years now. Dreading every moment of it. Had to have the operating system changed twice, because it kept rebooting by itself, rejecting calls, failed loading my memory cards etc. Does have a nice sound system, but that's no reason to keep it. Everyone that I know that has this phone has a scratched screen - its own keys do that!

All your babbling are software issues, yep i've heard lotsa complaints about the main camera not working and stuff... n71 carries a new breed of symbiam os so it is in its boomer stage when Nokia used it with n71, n91 etc... a firmware update make be the best resort but be very careful when you do it by urself... may cause much bigger issues when done the wrong way.... Hopefully i will not stumble on the same problems you guys have, i love this phone so far... and what the hell is, ..."it can play music but it is not what its built for (or something like that..),? this phone plyas much better music that n91!... (tested thru sennheiser headsets)...

I planned of buying N71 before. With the fold closed, can you take self-photos using the main camera? I am kind of a narcissistic person; i love taking photos of me. the camera, and the ability to take self-photos using the main camera with the viewfinder facing me is really my top concern. i have now my N93i but it disappoints me when I knew that I cannot take good self-photos with it (except when you use the front camera, which resolution is not good). I thought I can twist the viewfinder to myself while the main camera facing me, but no! It doesn't work that way. I still have to twist the viewfinder to the other side, making taking self-photos a difficult task (try, and try, and try? that's a lot of hard work). can you guys email me if N71 does what I want for a phone? i don't visit this site very often so please kindly send your answers to my site zangcaesar[dot]com as comment. i would appreciate it. although N71 is now rather not sold by Nokia, I believe there are those who can sell it for me as second-hand. thanks!

this id the worst phone i have ever had, nokia should be ashamed and they should give a new phone to every owner of this horrible phone!!! i bought it and on the 10th day its camera stopped working. it was on a 6 month repair, and after the 5 day it stopped working again!!!!!!!! i am going to run over this phone when i buy a new one, i haaaaaateeeeee it!!!!! i updated the software and the new one is even worser!!! in restarts on every call, and the speaker is quieter then before. in am so disapointed i am just angry i hate it!!!!

I have the problems like the others have said, I love the Nokia N71 very much but it dissapoints me when it says MEMORY FULL DELETE SOME DATA i have tried to delete all un-necessary data but still it demands to delete some data, another problem is ntework conncetion is not available at no reason, another problem is sms sending, it takes 1 minute for one sms to be sent, it reboots its self at no reason, pls if you have any way to solve these problems help me pls I like the phone

had this phone for nearly 18 months. 2mp camera stopped working after 6 months for no reason (not dropped or wet...just quit working). OS is uberslow... sending a text takes near a minute. Also crashes and resets for no apparent reason. It is by far the sloppiest designed and worked out nokia I ever owned. Like everyone else, the screen has mega scratching all over which is clearly a design flaw in my opinion. I recommend against purchasing this phone. Either a different brand, or another N-model would work much better for most.

Great reliable phone I picked up recently . I went back to using this model instead of my new LG KU990 as it is a touch phone and a pointer which I do not like. My other phone N95 was stolen in Hongkong. My old N71 bit the dust when it fell off the bar and landed on the floor . ALL functions failed and the hatch holding the memory card snapped off. Moral - dont take your phone to the pub. N95 internet function is excellent

oh...i like this phone so much from all of my previous ang latest phone becoz the camera is very good, good quality and really brings out a perfect picture. its stylish bcoz of its clam shell appearance its classy bcoz of its stainless matte finished and the keypad is very good...its one of the N-sreies family that really has the good quiality from its features! the only problem of this phone is the scratch mark from the keypad to the screen...day by day its shows a big scratch and beginning to look not good!

Nice and trendy phone, however several problems such as keys scratcing the main display frame, error design that is; also somehow picks bugs so easily you have to delete info and format always; main camera has gone and no sign of getting back, loses power and reboots itself at will. I saw that one of my classmates has this phone and thought it was japanese. It is a big, brick of a phone that is very rugged and high quality. I liked the vivid, colorful screen, simple clean menu, and the high resolution camera. Although, many owners have seemed to have many issues with various firmware causing slow proccesors and text speed among other things. One of the more ineresting phones I've seen.

I come with this problem with the memory on the N71 at my shop , i think it could be resolved with a hard reset or with an update , this eror is seen at video capture mode , i'l try to play with the settings , if not an HARD RESET is written on it .

This is one of the troublesome phones i have seen. The keypad scratching the screen...phew. For sms speeding try and download sms accelarator from nokia website. It you cant find it then go to nokia 3250 or N80 page and click on the software and look for sms accelarator. I guess upgrading the firmware might help the blank screen and the slow reponse of the mobile.

hi , i bought this phone 1.5 years a go . it's not bad , but has many serious problems ! lately i upgraded it's main software and it work's more better ! it's first problem is memory card ejecting automatically ( make me mad !!! ) , second: keybord scratching the main screen ! Hi, I have this phone for about 10 months now, so far I'm glad, but there are lots of problems. Most of the problems were corrected with the new FIRMWARE v4.0642.1.05. with the new FIRMWARE you don't need to install SMS Accelerator, or when installing a new software your internal memory will not be occupied, your phone will not restart when ever it wants, I use a 2GB MiniSD 80X and with the new FIRWARE I have good speed. But the FIRMWARE cussed a new problem, some time the memory card becomes offline, the memory is in the phone but suddenly the phone says " closing all app.." and the memory goes offline, and I have to eject the memory and enter it again for making it online.???? You get used to it!!! But still scratches on the screen, very small and bad keypads are on your nerves. Still great screen res... And colors. good sound. symbian OS great music player lots of great software. If I was going to buy a phone right now I would not buy a N71 because there are lots of great phones out there like N95, N75, N76, N81, P1,... BUT STILL I'M GLAD WITH MY CHOUES 10 MONTHS AGO.

I've posted once before about this phone losing the memory card function. Now I'm posting again to advise that as soon as I downloaded Nokia's latest firmware update, the phone lost voice dialing. If you try to use the voice dialing feature, the phone shuts down! My previous posting discussed the horrible design of the memory card slot, which failed on my phone, rendering the use of the memory card useless. So now, two key features of the my phone are not useable and I cannot get it repaired (living in the USA). This phone looks great on paper and would have been great if Nokia had actually delivered everything they advertised. Sadly, they didn't. It's an over-priced paperweight and I'd advise anyone thinking of buying it, to think hard about something else. You'll be sorry.

My N71 had a SMS_Accel -program installed right out of the box. Maybe this solves some problems with slow sms:ing. SMS_Accel application is available at Nokia�s web page. I�ve had no problems with SMS. Cons: Internal phone memory (not RAM) fills up too quickly (13MB), even if you install all your applications to memory card. Power button is too small, diffucult to use. Keypad is clumsy to use. Had some problems with my sim card, it doesn't go in place (worn out sim card, doesn�t go deep enough, solved with a piece of tape). Badly balanced, by this I mean that when you hold it in your hand, the screen-part is way too heavy. No ability to record from the radio. Internal RAM in filled up quickly, example: when surfing the web using fring in the background, fring is often killed to obtain more RAM. Pros: S60 v3 + all the great applications Radio

Word of advice: KEEP OFF! There are problems with this phone. It's thick for its features. It also has the bad habit of crashing and restarting when doing things. Keypad is smallish and difficult to type or navigate with. Camera is good though. Speaker is ok. Also, despite lots of people saying it: Yes! Whatever you do, the keypad scratches the screen horizontally in the middle. Either use a plastic film screen protector, or don't use this phone. It really scratches and it's quite visible. Get another N-series if you want, like N80 or the N76.

I have had my 71 for a year now. Its gone for repair 4 times now (thats once every 3 months).Each time I get it back its great for about a month then it starts slowing down again, freezing, taking 5mins to send a text & completely random application msgs appear all the time. I've updated software etc but still it keeps happening. I really love this phone-when it works! But sadly, I think it will never be reliable, and completely inconvenient when I have to be without it for 2-3weeks at a time when its being repaired. (I had to buy a cheap one - well �100- just to tide me over at these times cos the repairers dont offer you a replacement!) The concept of the N71 is good but the reality isnt. What I want to know is-what happens when the 24month warranty runs out? I'm left with a useless phone that cost me �359 that I thought & hoped would last me at least 4 years, thats why I forked out that much in the first place. I've always had nokias (have tried others but always migrated back to nokia) & to be honest I'm very disappointed with them & their aftercare services. They once tried to fob me off with a horribly scratched replacement that had bits missing off it like the nokia panel on the back & the memory card cover bit. Cheek! And when you contact nokia (a fete in itself) they wont replace it for a dif model. Disgusting when we pay so much for these things dont you think. Please can anyone offer any advice!

I've been using this phone for about 8 months, everything was smooth and i adore this phone so much my friends are green with envy, until 2 months ago when all problem started and hit me like a tsunami. 2 major problems I'm facing are missing internal memory and delay in sms-ing. I'd moved all my data into my 1GB memory card but the phone keep on showing low memory, please delete some of your data. From 300 sms-es now i can only keep 20 sms-es. Worst still now I have to delete at least 2 messages to receive 1 sms! I have no more messages to be deleted and I can no longer receive any more sms due to short of memory. I'd checked and I did not keep any data in my internal memory, It's mystically missing. It drove me to the wall and I almost threw the damn phone into the pit. The slow sending sms process is still tolerable for me but I just can't stand the memory problem!!!! I've decided to trade in this damn phone....

This phone could have been a great one but I've had nothing but problems, culminating in the loss of use of the memory card. The design of the slot for the card has a small lever, which when opened, then relays a message to the screen instructing the user to remove the card and press ok. The problem was, I wasn't trying to remove the card...the lever had a defect in it. Finally, it failed completely, so the memory card for this very expensive phone is now useless. I've tried to contact Nokia in several countries for advice, to no avail. I live in the USA and since the phone is not sold here, Nokia USA will not talk to me. This used to be the leading mobile phone mfg. in the world, but their product has defect and their product support stinks.

use of screen protector in this phone is highly advisable. I have this phone and scratches in the screen do really come out, plus it shuts down all by itself, hangs etc. but its all good though. I rate this phone as an average good buy.

Wrong, got UK model made in Finland. Actually came with minor unnoticable scratches. Put a screen protector on it and that's been scratched a few times. If i close it hard, big scratches build up on the bottom of the screen where the multimedia button would make contact with it. I'm getting a silicone skin for the phone and that will add width to the screen protection and that should fix it. The scratch problem with the N71 is universal. Old or new. Only got mine a month ago and unless it was an old make, which I doubt. There are ways to protect the screen. Just be wary of it.

I think most people complaining about the screen are those who bought from Asian market, ie "Made by Nokia" item. Mine is from European market and obviously "Made in Finland". I haven't had the screen problem yet, but who knows it might come up soon! So far so good. Quite happy with it. To me, it's comparable to SE V800/Z800 (the chunky flip phone). But I prefer the hinge of N71 to SE V800/Z800. Currently I don't like N71's response coz it seems a bit slack...surprisingly. Normally we always complain about the slack response on SE.

one more thing, if your business relies too much on taking pictures and sending them via email and/or computer why not try getting your company a nice digital camera instead of a camera phone. the picture quality is better, it wont take up too much of your time uploading to any computer simply pop up your cable and click and drag to copy pics..

6288 and N71. Both are 3G phones. 6288 is Series 40 3rd edition while N71 is Series 60 3rd edition. Probably, the advantage of N71 over 6288 is its Symbian 9.1 operating system which makes it possible to install additional softwares, like games and other useful applications.

Hi Bro, I have a N71-1 for about 5 months, since the first day I'm using a "Transcend 2GB MiniSD 80X" & never had ran in any problem. the main thing is that u will lose some speed but it depends on what flash card u are using & how much free speas u have on your flash. fren, if ur N71 sometimes lagged when sending sms, u should install "sms_accelerator.sis" which can be found under N71 support page in nokia.com it really helps. I've been using this phone since oct 2006 and quite satisfied, just the keypad annoyed me.

TO 0fwM Dude, not everything made in China has bad quality OK! If you got the money you can get whatever good stuff you want. You can also get cheap and fake stuff in China if you are not willing to pay the right price for the right quality. Even PS3 & Xbox360 are made in China. You should feel lucky that these stuff are made in China otherwise you might have to pay $1000 for a stupid phone.

It is perfectly fine, your phone is made in china by nokia factory, quality is as good as other. firmware maybe a little old, but nothing big.

its clamshell design is very cute when i saw this phobe for the first time. the stock of this phone in my country is limited, so it's quite hard to find this phone. although makes it cute, the clamshell design also makes the screen crash easily with the keypad. the flexible (rotator of the flip phone) doesn't work well, too. the battery is very weak, too bad. anyway, it has good quality of camera, music player, and other multimedia items. but maybe with the price range of this phone, nokia N70 is better choice.

Hi, I have a problem. my internal memory is going down & this is troubling me, & my sms sending is slow, my internal memory goes down whenever I install any games or themes even after throwing all my games & themes it's still like that & I always install 2 my memory card. i just have this phone for 2 weeks and this is really a cool phone, i think i know the problem with "memory eating problem" with this phone: always clear your "CACHE" in your Nokia Web browser and in your wap browser..... because it eat lots of space in your phone memory....... bec it function like a computer so just always delete the CACHE Generally i love this phone, this is the best phone ive had....and im contented with this phone.

i have had lots of problems with it, its always crashing, the infrared doesnt work, it wont acceot the memory card that i got with the phone, the internet doesnt work, neither does the instant messenger. many more problems aswell

this phone i amazing. the screen is bigger and the sound quality is superb. Though not comparable to w series of sony ericson..however..this is a series 60 version 3 so most of the applications from other nokia cant be transferred..The scratch is very serious thoug..it annoys me to look at the screen but the resolution is good..again it is not comparable with n80..this phone is better than n90 and the only flip that has the attitude..i love my n71..the picture is good but if you happen to print it..the quality is really not that good...overall i love it though..i like flip phones..

To huy Have you been living under a rock? The cheapest brand new n71 in vietnam is 4.6million,i saw a couple for 5.3million or so, which is not even close to $400 man. N71 have the same screen with n73, so you can get screen protector for it

i just bought a nokia n71 its terrible crashes now and than. when running applications it takes a long time to execute commands. tryed to delete all images i took and music but still runs slow. the fact that you can not seperate your images from videos is frustrating you can only do that in albums of which you dont just go through them when you open your images. the plastic screen has been scratched buy the key pad.when trying to do anything on this phone it takes a long time.

i would like to make a correction..hehehe..its keypad indeed has the tendency to create 'accidental' scratches ON ITS SCREEN...i have a total of 7 scratches on fon's screen but its not somethng really serious.. to agnes..its not that serious though but its something that needs to be addressed..wat i most like about this fone is that it makes u feel like an executive..

hello.i hav this phone for barely 3 weeks and im pretty much impressed with its features. music quality is exceptional, picture quality, superb, close to perfect, this is one heck of a phone. it has some drawbacks though. indeed, its keypad may create 'accidental' scratches on ur keypad so guys close them slowly and lightly. i hope nokia has a screen protector for n71. overall, i am highly satisfied with this phone. Questions to all of u guys. For now I only have the free 120 miniSD, but if I opt to buy a 1Gig miniSD, do u think that would affect my phone's browsing speed or performance? Im a music lover and I always play d songs I've downloaded. i have been using this phone for 4 months.its fully loaded ,and has almost everything,but does not have a good resale value.so if u really like flip mobiles than go for it otherwise n72 or n80 are good options.screenguard does solve the scratch problem but is not 100% effective....

I'm having a huge memory issue with this Phone, I have nothing what so ever stored on the internal memory, yet it's always low on memeory ! I have a good few Scratches on the screen due to a factory fault on the key pad. I would never want a model like this again.

I've been using this phone for 9 months and i HEAVILY use it. I can give you my honest and unbiased feedback about this phone 1) OUTLOOK - The outer part doesn't look as pleasant as other outer flip Nokia models. The inner part of the phone is just simply beautiful. Sometimes i would just open up the phone and admire the inner metallic silver color and platings. 2) AS PHOTO CAMERA - 2MP back cam. Front cam is 0.3MP but in my opinion, acceptable enough for video calls after experimenting. The back cam takes pretty impressive 2MP shots, in fact better than other 2MP models and other manufacturer models. It has 'shutter' shots, but no big deal to me :) Some find it very useful but not to me. 3) AS A VIDEO CAMERA - Again not bad but nothing spectacular. Better than some models but not all. 4) AUDIO RECORDING - Pretty impressive sound quality after playing back. Even transferred it to a PC with proper sound monitors and it is acceptable again. 5) AUDIO PLAYBACK / SPEAKERPHONE - Very VERY good. Crystal clear, bright and loud enough. 6) HEADPHONE - Tried both standard mini jack (converter) to my own stereophones and Nokia handsfree proprietary ear plugs and found them reasonably good. I have no complains about this. 7) SCRATCHES - Yes, caused by one of the small embedded curves around the keypad. So whenever you close the phone, do it lightly. Oh i do love to hear the metallic 'click' whenever you close the phone. In doing so, the phone gets shut at a faster pace thus inviting only more 'impact' scratches. 8) INTERNET BROWSING - I'm happy with the browsing although i've had some problems opening Flash sites. That's because I simply couldn't find a link to download the latest flash compile for the Symbian OS. Now 9 months later i've decided to sell this phone. I just realised this phone does NOT have any 2nd hand value. I will be making a 60% loss after 9 months based on the used market rate in Malaysia. Reason i'm selling this is because the front camera does not function (i've sent it once to repair but haven't sent it again), the OS appeared slighly buggy and prone to error returns. This only happened after 6 months of use. I DO NOT install any 3rd party software and so that only leaves one reason why i get the camera and error problems on my N71.... ... i can only say that i have dropped this phone about 25 to 30 times in the past 9 months... ... so you make the call and be the judge ... :)

Ok things to consider when comparing some of the Nseries phones that I have experienced before for N80, N73 and N71 : N80 : Best resolution on screen, Wlan, UPNP N73 : Best camera among the three with autofocus and carl zeiss (Though its just a marketing scheme) N71 : Best music quality among all the 3 and the largest screen

m.a, Its a good choice to buy this phone...compared to N70,the user interface is somewhat alike but the OS is upgraded from N70's S60 2nd edition to the third edition..the resolution is better than N70 and exactlly the same as 6280's QVGA..so this phone is a good choice not to mention its low internal memory compared to N70.

i got this phone last november and it's working very well. aside from the scratches on the screen made by the keypad, the phone is working perfectly for me. as soon as i got hold of it, i installed the sms accelerator so to avoid experiencing the-slow-sending-sms problem which most people experience with this phone. the flip is not loose unless i apply force to make it loose. n71 has good sound, nice picture resolution for a 2mp. i love it when the phone say the caller's name while ringing so i know at once, without touching my phone, who the caller is. i am well satisfied having this phone in my hand! get one! =)

I just bought the Nokia N71. When in the half open position (or sitting position) the top part of the clamshell is quite lose - it moves to and from easily! Can anyone tell me if this is normal please or did I get a damaged phone? Thanks...apart from this it appears to be a great phone!!

N71 is a very great phone. It sounds good(the loudspeakers and the headsets) and it can support many sound formats. Screen is very vivid and clear, you can't even see the pixels. User interface is great, responds faster than the n70 and n80. The camera, well I could say that it has about average quality in taking pictures. The memory is only 10mb but can be upgraded to 2g mini sd card. As of now I haven't heard of any virus that has infected a nokia n71, maybe because of the new OS (s60 3rd edition). This maybe is the reason why the os is not backwards compatible with the other application...there are antivirus programs that can be downloaded, you just search the internet...thanks and goodluck.

for encrypting files, use the y browser.install it then use it. select the file u want to hide, then go to file, attributes then make it hidden.then save...wait for a while or reset the phone to finish encrypting the files...

yes u can save messages directly to the mememory card,the only problem by doing that is the phone will not connect in data transfer(usb mass storage mode),cos the mem card is being accessed by the phone,so only option whould be then to use a card reader/writer...

Hello! Good day to you all! I have always liked this phone but i keep putting off buying it because of so many bad reviews. But, finally, i am now as decided as i can be to buy this phone. Since i already saw it personally and touched it and fiddled with it for a while in a shop here in the Philippines. But i didn't get to test and scrutinize the phones functions so my only question now is can you save sent and received messages to the memory card? That's one of the best things about my old N7610 that's why i can't let go of it. I also have SE W800 and while it has a great camera and music playback/functions, i get so annoyed that i have to keep erasing sent and receive messages so often because the message memory is full.

Yes i fully aggree with eli71724 comments that the N71 is really an excellent S60 3rd Edition smartphone that is underated cos of its somewhat bulky size.It is excelent value for money relative to the N80 and N73.I have lots of apps and games working perfect on my N71. My main pros would be: -big,high quality 240x320 screen -good quality 2mp camera with good quality components used -good audio playback thru speakers or headphones -audio adapter in box to use your own headphones -fairly speedy UI once everthing is loaded into memory -i like the clamshell design -good build quality -very good compatiblilty with apps and games(some games run faster on N71 than N73) My main cons would be: -screen marks on the main screen caused by the phones keypad,but can be wiped away with a cloth -really low internal memory of around 10mb -bulky size (depands on the person) -smallish keybad -difficult to remove memory card slot,will not be a big issue if u buy a big memory card though On the whole i am very happy with my N71,the phone is smooth running and hardly ever crashes unlike other s60 v3 phones like the E61.A recomended purchase.

Yes both cameras can be used to take pictures and videos as well. N71 is for music and is more affordable than the n73 and n80. N71 performs faster than the n80 (based on my observations). The sound quality of the speakers is great! Also the headsets perform very well...Great screen, very vivid and clear but cannot rotate images in gallery.The only feature missing in n71 is the wi-fi...U should buy a screen protector because the keypad causes scratches on the screen... N80 has wi-fi and has 3megapixel cam...but the sound of the speakers i think is weaker than the n71...slow user interface especially on the gallery... has macro mode(for taking close-ups)unlike the n71... N73's lens user carl zeiss(glass) and can capture 3.2 megapixel pics using the main camera.it has no wi-fi but the screen is large...light weight and looks like the sony ericsson phones...go for the nokia n71, it's worth your money.^_^

Best place to download apps & games for S60 3rd edition phones like N71 is at: www.dotsis.com www.imserba.com/forum www.symbian-mobile.org www.series60v3.com And N71 is way better than N70,two big selling points being the way better screen = N70 has 2.1" 176x208 screen whereas N71 has 2.4" 240x320 screen which makes a big difference. Also N71 runs the latest S60 3rd edition OS whereas N70 runs the older S60 2nd Edition OS. I am very satisfied with my N71.

mudasser you are taking utter rubbish, The N71 is a proper series 60 3rd edition smartphone.I have a N71 and have tons of apps and games installed and working perfectly fine.Maybe you do not know how use the phone or something else.Go to the "tools" folder,then "app manager" and then settings and make sure that installion is set to off.All the sis and jar files i have installed on my N71 worked 1st time,the themes support is a bity crappy but that seems to be a problem with s60 3rd edition phones in general. Furthermore the N71 offers excellent value for money than say an N73,cos the N71 has the same screen(240x320,2.4" size) same OS,same CPU,similar amount of free RAM,same video recording abilities and more. The main advantage the N73 gives u is the excellent camera,slimmer size & more internal memory.

The screen resolution of the N71, is 240x320, not 320x240 as stated in the spec page here. The identical screen is found in the N73 & N93: 262k,240x320,2.4".My box of my N71, clearly says 240x320 also some other Nokia phones on the Nokia site spec pages also gives incorrect info, screen resolution 320x240,while it is actually 240x320,an example being the 6233.

Screen resolutions are described horizontal to vertical (176x220 240x320). So what i don't get is why is the N71 resolution described as 320x240. Does this mean that the sreen has more horizontal pixels than the vertical? Wouldn't pictures look distorted if that's the case? Owners of N71 please post your comments. I've always wanted this phone but i keep putting off purchasing it and i buy another phone instead because of many negative reviews and comments. But i really like this up to now so i might buy one in a week. N71 users please post positive and negative points of this phone.

in the video when he connects to internet and then removes the arrow on the screen like if he is using a mouse, does he do that with the multimedia key located just under the internal screen or with the normal navigation key located below it between four keys?

If you like clamshell, N71 is good. Better OS and faster than N70, better video, good display, good camera, 3G, 2 lens, radio, got everything in a Symbian phone. Compare with Samsung clamshell, N71 is slightly heavier, but held in your hand, its got the same feel as Samsung clamshell. I left my N70 for N71. I leave it open on my table n it looks like a mini laptop. Nice.

in the Philippines, this fone is always out of stock. Shop owners our discouraging me from buying this phone due to a lot of problems w/ the software. Most of them are hesitant to sell this unit due to constant requests for repair that they get shortly after the phone is purchased from their store. However, i'm still in love w/ this phone! despite the negative comments, i love everything about it: the look/style and the functions. I just hope i'll be lucky enough to get a problem free unit of N71 :)

If you like a phone that can do more than just play music, go for N71. N71 is like a computer because in ways it behaves like a computer. It has high resolution camera that takes high quality pictures and videos, a nice stereo MP3 player and FM radio. You can also watch videos and full length movies in the N71's large screen. You can make video calls with it, surf the internet at broadband speed, play games, and download a lot of applications and games. Not to mention, you can also open your office documents in N71 like Word and Excel. So whatever drawbacks there are in N71, I think they are minor only considering the many advanced features and functions of this phone. And besides, you can have all these features of the phone at a very affordable price compared to other Nseries models which cost a pain to the pocket...

@ ashouhdy Hey, haven't you read the review about N71? It's a matter of taste. Some people like big phones. It's just how you look at it. If you don't appreciate N71, it's simply just because it's not your taste. People wouldn't buy this phone if they think it's ugly. In my opinion it's not ugly. I actually find this phone simple in the outside but very interesting inside. (I curently own a N91.) And FYI, the N71 was made for the middle class, to give people a choice to own a phone with the latest features at an affordable price..

When I got my N71, I had no problem with the "scratches" and then I put on a screen protector, and like under I weak I can see thin line scratches under a white background, and its workong on my nerves so should I remove the protector altogeter and just use a soft cloth like for your reading glasses and clean every the screen every once in a while.

My friend has this phone and its really awesome it has everything but the only problem is that its so darn big this thing is like a laptop it has all the features of a laptop its like a pda a EXTREMELY BIG PDA great for features but not great in size so consider the size before you buy it online people ( its about 8 inches long i think and 1&half inches thick)

Buy the phone that best suits ur needs and wants. If you need a phone with a certain dedicated feature like music, go for N91; video, go for N90 or N93, TV, go for N92. Or if you're the type who wants it all in a device, then go for eiher of the N7x phones. Just to remind you, if you want a phone that has lots of available software downloads, go for N70. If you're after a totally new phone but only mid-class, N71 is that phone. If you're not that tech-savvy but style matters more, go for N72. Or you may wanna try N73 for good photography and other advanced multimedia features. It all depends on you.

Please help me with my problem. I am having hard time with this gadget~!! I am trying to upload the pictures from my N71 unit to PC. But when i connect the cable to unit there is an alert saying "unable to activate data transfer mode. memory card is in use by other application" Even though I have tried to close the screen display and even set the picture saving into phone memory. Yet the same alert is keep showing. what should i do???

hi everyone, i have been using N71 for 3 months now. It's not the perfect phone, but still I LOVE IT! as for your inquiries, here are my answers... a. scratched screen - as it has been suggested a gazillion times, use a screen protector. This is a design flaw. =) b. slow SMS sending - you may go to the nokia website (N71 support) and download the SMS Accelerator. It indeed made SMS sending a lot faster. c. Rotating pictures - you may rotate pictures in gallery by going to EDIT then APPLY EFFECT. :) d. poor signal - i just discovered that since networks has just incorporated the 3G network, they dont have as much cell sites available yet. meaning, it is not available everywhere (unlike GSM or regular network) and since there are only a few cell sites where it's available, there's traffic. e. "memory eating" - i am experiencing it myself with my phone (phone memory and memory card) i still dont have any answer as to why this happens. others say that it's a glitch with the S60 3rd ed. i found out that there are hundreds of small files in source folder in the memory card that may be the files that's eating up the storage device. i havent tried deleting them yet.. i hope i was able to help. thanks!

I bought my N71 phone last three weeks ago and so far I'm contented with it. The large screen display is superb and I don't have any problem with the scratches things. I think it depends on how you take good care of your phone. With regards to the internal memory, my free space right now is about 10.50mb. I usually put all my pictures, videos and application in my 1 gb memory card. The sound quality is great and the camera is better than nokia n70.

I just bought the n71 yesterday and so far the only problem that i have encountered was I couldnt rotate the images in the gallery. I already tried using the shortcut keys for rotating images and i also tried searching for the rotate option from the menu but it was not there. Please, anyone help me...Does your n71 also have this problem? PS: the sound quality of the speaker and headset of the n71 is great, actually it is one of the best i heard so far...screen is also very clear. thanks!

I am very happy with my N71, no real scratches with screen problem, I also recently put on a screen protector on the external & internal screens and it enhances the picture a bit, the one main niggle I have is the really low amount of internal memory of around 10mb, I find it not sufficient, my phone is has a about 5.8mb free, memory even though all my apps and games and pics are on my 1gb memory card, what are other peoples comments regarding the internal memory size.

N71-1 is 3G capable while N71-5 is GSM-only. Same with N91-1 which has 3G and Wi-Fi. N91-5 (my phone) is a crippled version of N91-1, no 3G and no Wi-Fi.

I have this phone for about a month now, its a n71-1 RM-67, I'm using a "2GB Transcend MiniSD 80X" memory card and it's great(no hanging, high speed)Recommended!!! + best display (Colors and size) + good price (compered to n80, n73, n72, ...) + great camera (2MP outside, KP inside) + speaker (reasonable) + connectivities + Package (128MB MiniSD, headset, ...) + OS 9.1 - bad finishing (scratch on display because of the key pad, light leakage around the key pad, ... the making quality of SonyE and samsung are lot better!) - heavy (~139g) - dis pointing keypad - weak battery, i have to recharge it every 2 days, some times every day (this is a problem with all OS 9.1 phones, guess we need a revolution in the battery industray. * does any one know the difference between n71-1(RM-67) and n71-5(RM-112)?????????

hey every1.N71 is a great phone with superb sound quality and excellent picture quality however the problem with the screen is a major downfall.with the flap closed i actualy get scratches on and next to the screen.the paint on two of my buttons are coming off because of it touching the screen.my phone just got back from nokia repair centre and my new screen got scratches after the second day.very very disappointing

To those complaining scratches on the screen, I don't think those are really scratches. From time to time, I examined the screen and I really notice that there are really some prints on the screen done by the keypad. however, you can remove those keypad prints on the screen by wiping the screen with a soft cloth. to jhun you can make use use of 1gb memory card and it will work just fine. I just bought 1 gb memory card and i'm quite happy because i was able to put so many vidoes and mp3s there. with regards to sms sending and poor signal, I don't experience them so far. my phone can send sms very fast. maybe it has something to do with your location and not because of the phone.

Yes, there is a "memory eating" problem! But there is the best solution and I did that on my phone and worked perfectly!!! First of all, you have to backup all you data! Everything you need! (Photos, contacts, sounds, applications etc).Then you type *#7370# This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten. The phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter the security code (12345 by default). So, your phone will be exactly as when the first time you bought it! -is is possible to use 1G for this N71 - slow message sending and poor signal quality anyone knows how to upgrade this? e-mail me. thanks!

i've had this phone for 1 week, and i must say i am quite satisfied with my purchase. it's definitely not a waste of money. i've installed a document editor, ebook reader, pdf reader, 5 java games, and everything still works fine. i'm still using the 128mb mini SD. I've used 60% of the phone memory and 90% of the external memory and I still haven't encountered problems. i've also put on lcd protectors on both the internal and external screens. i haven't encountered the "memory eating" problems, althought i do make sure to thoroughly empty temporary installation files and delete cookies and empty the cache regularly. i think that as with all smartphones, you need to treat this gadget like a computer. so far i'm having a blast with this phone.

help pls! i bought N71 yesterday and excited as i was to use it when i got home, when i tried to switch the message memory use from phone to memory card, it wont switch to memory card although it can detect the memory card. i bought the phone brand new and even the memory card was included in the package. is there some way to fix this? thanks!

well iam using this fone for the last 3 months. frankly this fone has a few flaws,,but it is undoubtedly one of the best in the n series.... i have recently bought an n80,n93,n91 and n72 for my family members but the n71 is a class apart. it is only overpowered by the n93 which is ok bcoz of the major price difference. the flaws are as follow's : 1:it get's badly scratched in a month's time. i had a scratch guard on and when i tried to replace the scratch guard it came out in 3 pieces. 2:sms outgoing or reading is slow. as for the other complaints i dont have any problem in my fone atleast. (a major flaw is that just like the n90 it has very very poor resale value in india and is a failure model) i would give it a rating of 8.5/10

Greetings everyone! I have just bought N71. It's a nice, solid phone and I like it a lot. Only problem is, the reception isn't very good as compared with my other Nokias. I have in my "fleet", N70, 6681, 6680, 6270, 3230 and 6260. On my 6680, I have at least 3 or 4 bars of service coverage while on the N71, I get nothing. Kinda frustrating as I had to get out of the house to get some reception! I have yet to set the GPRS and MMS on this phone. The plus side is the large screen which I love and the sharpness. I give it an 8 out of 10.

I agree with Iaid! Nokia N71 has same problem with SMS, like N73. This problem is in almost all N-Series phones. The display makes big headache! Stupid buttons scratch it after two days! After 2 months, on that place, where was small scrachy, ther appers big, ugly scratch. So think twice when buying this "unfinished" phone.

I�m really very cautious to use it for ‎anything else other than for making calls and receiving calls, and still their I�m ‎facing some problems.‎ The mobile has following problems:‎ ‎1)‎ It hangs too often than usual, specially when receiving SMS message, or ‎when you try to play a game.‎ ‎2)‎ When typing SMS messages the screen will flicker when it goes to the ‎next line.‎ ‎3)‎ It slow when sending SMS messages. Some times it hangs in the middle ‎of the message.‎ ‎4)‎ Battery indicator is not accurate. It may indicate empty power and the ‎mobile switches off automatically, but when you restart the mobile it ‎shows more than half. I've been used this phones for 2 month, nice screen and camera than N70/N72/N90 even they are 2 MP also. Great sound with equalizer and bass option. To bad i can't get to the next track for music player using the Handsfree ( must using the button on the phone ). I've already using miniSD about 1GB and it's works well for reading the memory card, and it's content ( songs, games, video, themes etc. I've been compared with N90/N70/N72, for changes themes N71 is quite fast than N series above which is need a minute also with the connection. Hi, I've been a nokia user,(N71 is my 9th nokia phone)but my latest purchase didn't satisfy me at all. I'm very dissapointed with this phone because 1, It sends SMS tooooooo slow I'm getting sleepy waiting. 2, It eats up the phone memory without me storing anything! How crazy is that?! 3, It hangs too often than usual. 4, Well, it can be avoided but the screen really easily gets scratced. I brought this phone to nokia service center to have it fixed but after a week or so same problems occurs. Now, I'm putting up with this phone's abnormalities while I'm carefully choosing the phone I'll buy next. To those who wants to buy this phone, think a million times. N71 is just a waste of money.

hi. i was searching for review on n71 to see if I'm the only one experiencing certain problems with my unit. I really like the phone, had it for five months already but lately it's been sending SMS too slowly and I hate it so much. Can anyone help? It is connected to the phone or card memory? I read a post on the phong hangging while playing snakes, happened to me all the time but I figured it's connected to the battery. While playing any game, the phone usually hangs when the battery is almost empty. Hope this helps.

I've been enjoying this phone ever since I got it. Just a few niggles, I run a 1 gb memory card and sometimes the phone hangs on me. My pet peeve right now is that there's insufficient protection for the main screen resulting in scratches on the screen, have since put on screen protectors for both displays. Hi i just bought the n71 a week ago... it totally rocks! My only problem is those damn scratches. Actually, they're not scratches, more like dirt compressed on the screen by the keypad. hi everyone, i have been using this phone for a little over a week now and I love it! Yeah, there are some flaws but there are more good things than not. I was planning on buying n80 but my friend, who owns a cell phone shop, did not recommend it as it is slow. His sister had 2 units with the same issue. Let me pinpoint some things on this phone. 1. the biggest issue are the SCRATCHES. after reading reviews, i purchased a screen protector even before transfering my data from my old phone. now, i don't even have to worry about the scratch! **wink** 2. The audio is really nice but, of course, you can't actually compare it with the sony erricson walkman phones..this is simply they are supposed to be WALKMAN phones.. really nice audios.. when you use the headphones, that's when you'll see the clear stereo audio. 3. as for the question with the keypad lights turning on and off, the tiny square below the 2nd camera (for video calls) is a light detector. It regulates the keypad lights. It's one of those power saving feature of nokia. I've tried it by flashing a light on the detector on a pitch dark room and the keypad lights indeed turned off. 4. here are the issues that I am experiencing: -the phone freezing when playing snakes, it has happened to me as well..but not always - some pictures from my old 6670 that i transfered to this one cannot be shown as thumbnails. I have to zoom it to see them. (these are all JPEG) - the screen flickering when the text message that i'm typing goes to the next line. ' ....I have contacted nokia about these and am just waiting for a reply. but still, I LOOOVE THIS PHONE!

I finally realize that n71 is far better than n70, even the price is quite cheaper than n70( it's about $50 lower) in the place where I live. i'm not worry about the scratches, because i've bought the scratch guard. Well for me, using Nokia N71 is a pitty. I mean I cannot even play a pre-installed game "SNAKES" just because ma N71 hangs in approx. 1.5 minutes after I launch the game. And then Its stuck, no keys would work, not even the power key. The only solution to it is that I simply remove the battery and then place it back in n boot my device again to get going. Another problem is with the keypad which is making scratches on the Main LCD that looks awefull. Other than that the keypad backlight goes off very often during the phones being used. It was my own choice to buy a Nokia and N71 for that matter but now I am very ashamed of myself because I simply trew my money in fire!!! Please suggest me what can I do now?

The key pad scratch to the phone LCD problem it could be due to the silicon stopper or hinge.I noticed that and I had my problem solved by changing the cover hinge with free,as is still in warranty.Another common part that the user has to check is your video call function, as I encounter the party can't see the caller image and this problem was solved by the service with replaced the faulty camera.The unpleasant experince I had with nokia service centre is they can't solve the LCD screen flickering problem particulary at the new text message menu and some of the others menu function.After changed a new LCD display,the problem is still there and I am still waiting for their solution.However, is a very disappointed answer they claimed is like this and that and I do not agreed with it, as the N73 and N71 are using the same OS version.Hope that this can be resolved by Nokia service centre soon. Unhappy user,Singapore.

The sratches on the screen basically should be within the warranty terms as it is a fault in the design and NOT user caused. In the future I'd suggest you buy/haggle from the retailer a small plastic piece to cover the display. It'll take a bit from the screen's sharpness but protects the screen from the scratches. Or you could attach some pads to the lid to make the lid rest a bit higher from the body. Easy little tricks to make the phone last.

I've had mine for 3 weeks. Initially, i had problems accidentally pressing the neighboring buttons for the scroll key. Its a bit deep and not as tactile as I would want it. Takes a little getting used to but its not a problem now. Other than that... I think the phone is fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

I think it's a very good looking phone, it's a bit heavy, n after reading the reviews on this phone, I found a small scratch on my screen too but shall use a scratch guard..till that time I'l keep it open on my desk:)...I tink it's worth it..I love the camera..the sound isn't as good as sony ericsson, but not bad either!

Great phone! Excellent Media player ! Reasonable fast! GREAT Web Browser! BUT the screen has developed a thin scratch. I have to use a scrath gaurd. Two silicon stoppers (on the top flap or the bottom) could've really helped in doing away with the "Scratching Problem". I must say it's big design flaw by nokia. The beauty of Nokia N71 is its huge 36X49inch screen and seeing a ugly scratch on it after 2 days of using it is a big dissapointment.....anywayz u can't get everything u want.

i wish to record some of my unpleasant experiences with the N71: 1) the gallery/images & video will stutter upon selection. when a picture is chosen it will jerk before displaying. if a picture is backed, a similar jerkiness is also seen. this is irritating to the eye, but according to staff at the nokia centre the fault is inherent in this model. shouldn't the new symbian o/s be better? 2) voice reception is acceptable but not as clear as the N70, my previous model. the quality of tone wavers and fades from time to time according to environ. 3) headset is not ideal. there is a slight buffering noise in the background. the end point does not fit well into the radio slot, allowing frequent adjusting to the connection. 4) after about 37 days into using this model the covers are giving me problems. slight pressure, as i sometimes keep it in my trouser pocket, will automatically switch off the set. to turn the mobile on again, several presses on the on/off button is required. also, this does not guarantee that it will continue to function as per normal for the set, when opening or closing or slight depressing of the keypad cover happened, disables the mobile again. it is indeed frustrating to constantly keep the N71 alive. 5) after web browsing and exit, the 3G/double arrows still shows. this ought not to be the case and the system should return it to the larger font, "3G". let's say a user is unaware of this, can you imagine the bill at the end of the month incurred for non online usage? i had to exit twice before my connection was terminated. 6) in some areas, reception can be down and out for an unspecified length of time. this is not the case with my previous phone. i like the design and feel of this model, but in a way i am very disappointed with its slack performance.

Most does not mean all. Samsung, Panasonic, Siemens, and Sendo also have S60 phones. I'd say that's not quite proprietary. If you go beyond S60, many SE phones use S90 for their PDA style phones. So like I said, Symbian > all proprietary OS :)

Only way to support .sis files is with Symbian Smart phones... SE are just a bunch of "dumb" phones. In other words Symbian > all proprietary OS (if you can even call them real OS's).

Sony Ericsson phones provide a talk time of 7hrs plus.The audio quality of the walkman series is better than any NOKIA phone.The only problem with Sony Ericsson is is does not support .sis files.

i think the nokia N71-1 would be great if debranded. nokia have to many restrictions. and the (i think its called) 3rd party apps should be testet more before they sell it! that cool 3d snake game looks so great.. until it freezes.. it makes me mad when it does that.. i have to take out the batt. to be able to use the phone..

to civilized beast,,ive looked at a few places who say the n91 is only qcif but if youve had the device & its cif i cant argue..the n91 still had the 176 x 208 regular nokia standard res screen & was also put off with people on about the hdd so settled on this one(n71) & only not bought it yet as the 10 mb internal memory cud be a struggle as it was with my 6680+6630 they only had 10 mb internal memory.I am using s/e w900i at moment & its getting awkward with its size(bulk) & video altho 30 frames per second is very speckly & banding type effects due to its 3gp format.THE n93 is what i really want but thinking about the w900i & the n93 weight i think ill go for this n71..All people i know & mates etc hate the look of the phone so i will be the only person in my group with one BUT there again i like clamshells

n91 has only qcif video recording in silly 3gp format...n71 has 4 x resolution video recording in the better mp4 format at cif resolution..some may think that it has twice the resolution but it is 4x if you actually draw it out qcif will fit 4x into a cif resolution..hence qcif(quarter cif).sounds complex but its correct so n71 has superior video recording compared to n91 & n91 is more music orientated

I have been using N71 for 2 weeks now and everything about the phone is great from functionality to style. The screen is a definite plus as compare to N70. Sound is clear and crispy using the phone speaker. When using headphone, sound is very acoustic and bass is punchy. I mush say it can easily rivals any Sony high end personal audio system. N71 is also packed with many useful functions, from FM radio to movie player. You can even view your Excel document via this phone! You name it, and you got it! I especially like the second camera as it is a flip phone, the phone can stand by itself while taking your own picture and you can see the actual picture layout through the main screen. Using the music player while the phone is in closed position, the title of the song currently on air is elegantly displayed on the second screen. For those of you who is look for the most extreme style in hand phone, N71 is bound to make an impression and make every head turn.

i bought this model two days ago, replacing the N70 i had for 6 months. 71 is indeed a better improvement over 70 with a few noticeable improvement over text size display, main screen resolution, camera function, added music features, overall manufacturer body make, ease of use, etc. the external screen display can be improved but i suppose nokia only wanted it to serve a simple purpose and thus the deliberate "grainy (term used by some)" look, thus giving it an unmistakable dreamy look. only rudimentary information like battery bar, signal strength and time suffice in this instance. the keypad is a new robust addition, with firm feelings felt, unlike the 70 when one can find shaky individual keys. a few hours of usage and i found myself liking this new introduction. battery usage is acceptable with 2 full days before recharging. there are many things i can go through but the best experience is discovering what a reliable companion this 71 is: a satisfying, good mobile phone.

Have this phone since a week. The external screen is indeed quite bad very low resolution and somehow face a problem with the external screen when i switch the music player on. Camera quality is good. the keypad is a little uncomfortable to use though. but if u want a flip phone then the n71 is a good choice. The speakerphone clarity is good but feel the N80 will be a better choice

I regret buying this phone. Simple, direct and conclusive statement. The operating system stalls. Seems Symbian 3 is still under development and this phone makes us guinea pigs as users. The operating system is also slow. In addition, the navigation keypad is flush with the phone. Every time I use it, I end up pressing the red hang-up/cancel button by mistake. And my fingers are not oversized. The phone may be full of features, but using it is a nightmare. I must also add I am not thrilled with the external display. It is extremely low-tech. Sony Ericsson's simpler clamshells have a better external display. I just think Nokia have become too commercial that they do not put enough thought into their design. Another feature that would be nice to have is Recurrent Alarm, whereby I do not have to keep setting the alarm daily. The only thing going for this phone is the design. Looks good and impressive. But that is only in front of others. For me, it is a headache using it.

To Cezar or anyone from the Philippines who wants to know more abt n71, I'va had it for two wks and well unfortunately it has some scratches now at the display bec it somehow touches the keypad, that's rather careless for Nokia. But, the phone is amazing, display is better than n70(my bro owns one), music is better than 6280. It has some of the functions of n80 (when you don't want to accept a call it can automatically send a text msg why you rejected the call), can view ofc docs, good 2M pixel camera comparable to SE (except the autofocus), has advance sequence mode, also has a very useful multimedia key (for shortcuts if you don't want to use the active standby mode). I can live with the scratches, I just placed a screen protector to prevent more scratches. I love this phone, it's a good clamshell phone fr Nokia and it's has a cover display...

If you think your keypad is bad now, wait just a few days untill it starts feeling and sounding as if there was a layer of badly glued scotch tape underneath or as if you spilled a glass of water with plenty of sugar on it (especially the pen/menu/cancel row)... :((( Pitty a display, which is, indeed, excellent, a very good (IMO) camera and a cool operating system are integrated into such a flimsy handset!

@orange: I have it and I've tested its battery life in extreme use / average use / next to none use conditions with according hardware settings. The results I got were VERY dissapointing: best - 2 days; worst - 18 hours. Also, when buying a N71, carefully inspect its finish (no, not the finnish guy who assembled or sold it to you!:). Mine has inacceptable panel gaps (top cover) and unaligments (battery cover) for a device in this class and at such a price. Also, when folded, the top cover rests on everything BUT the silicone pad designed for this purpose. Thus, the screen cover touches the keypad panel, which, after just a few days will result in unremovable scratches on the screen. Overall impression would be (for me at least) that Nokia is getting very sloppy and their arrogance and neglect towards customers has reached sky-high.

Very nice phone, I have it in my hands right now. I think that it looks cool, not ugly at all. Nice screen, easy to use. The battery lasts for about 2,5 days with "normal" use (30 min. talking, sms and taking som pictures). It sounds good - especially with my own headphones (adapter is in the package). I paid about 430$ for it (in Germany). I tested a lot of phones in the last few month and I LOVE this one (better than SE W810i, BQS EF 81 or Nokia N91!!!!)

I bought N71 and I can say that it really gave me a good multimedia experience, it has a good music player and 6 equalizer settings. Pretty good earphones too. And the earphone adaptor wherein you can use your own 3.5mm stereo headset really satisifies the music lovers. Great calmshell mobile for Nokia!

lol, a friend of mine just came from Italy and requested him to buy me this device. I have it already in my hands. It's not ugly as some people claim. Nokia managed to redesign the keypad. Screen is very beautiful. The picture that you see posted here is an old prototype pic. Very nice. Strange. Here in Manila, Philippines, I called three major Nokia distributors namely, Nokia Festival Mall, Nokia Greenbelt and Nokia Glorietta. All of them said one thing, that N71 is NOT available nor out yet neither they have any idea when it will be released. Called up Nokia Careline at 8861234 and the csr said that N71 won't be expected to arrive even by the end of April. So much for "claims" that N71 is already avaliable in the Philippines. Everyone seems to be slating this phone but its got agood features. 2MP camera, great video recording. Even the new to be released SE K800 doesnt record video as good as this or the n70 for that matter. The n70 is also aclamshell which is great fpr pretecting the screen and clamshells are the future of mobile phones without a doubt. Bluetooth version 1 or 2 makes no difference unless you intehnd to chat with 10 people in the same room at one usingbluetooth but if that situation were present wouldnt you just talk to them withyour mouth? Anyway im definatley getting this phone. The video recording is what ets this phone up for me. I absolutley loved the recording on the n70 and cant wait to get my hands on this. MP4 herei come

well it is smaller than N90 which is a good start. and the design is more a less like standard clam shell phone in the market. this baby packs a lots of features which i think will be a better bargain compare to N80 or other Nseries. I will get my hands on 1 of this baby when release in the market, hehe. i do hope that the respone of N71 will be faster than N90...

And the 150 euros price tag, by the way. I've already chosen - the N71. I perefer clamshells over sliders, and it has everything i need (i don't need wi-fi or UPnP, which i will never use)

I think this keyboard is going to be very good. I don't like the keyboards other phone's have nowadays since they are packed in so small space. This one seems to have space to press buttons even with bigger fingers. Also Nokia 7650 has very good keyboard.

I think this phone does have a lot of potential. This phone cannot be compared to the razr cause the razr simply sucks. Even it's newer version does not have what this phone has. You can say the phone is bulky, but this is just as big as the razr in width and height if not slimness. 2MP Camera, Good MP3 Functions / Radio (no rds? :(..) Everything that is enough for someone who knows their phones. Question: Does this phone comes with it's own data cable cords for the computer? What headsets does this phone come with? Thanks. Not bad,however it's my second coice.I think SE W810i is much more better and much more beautyfull.3g is nothing for me,since it is only good for serfing in WAP(and so too expencive),as well as for videocalling(which is not good because it's not for free,and because it is not comfortable for everybody to be seen in phone,for examble when in bed whith pyjamas).N71 has nothing more to offer in comparison to SE W810 which i thing will be my next phone as soon as it comes on the market.

Overall and excellent phone wif features most ppl would wanna have but where the phones's camera is placed dissapoints me as it will not have protection and it's lense will B covered with finger prints so Nokia shld mayb replace dis model in my opinion replace it by changing the location of the camera and the desingh of dis phone.In my opinion i find the exterior N90 looking nicer den the N71 adding the the cons the location of the internal camera isn't gd at all cos if u open and close the phone 2 hard the camera might go cocky.I gell that the internal camera is shld B placed at the btm of the display and not on top of it.

Finally a phone that has ALL the specifications I want! Megapixel camera, speakerphone, clamshell design, smartphone for my address book, dual displays (some of the new clamshell phones don't have a front display, why on earth not??). One review I read said it didn't have speakerphone - if this is true I will be SO disappointed! All other reviews have said it DOES have speakerphone. Provided it has speakerphone, this is will definitely be my new phone when it becomes available in Australia!!

This phone is awesome, It's about time Nokia uis reaching out to there customers..Good Job on the N71.......keep it going!.the only thing I see that maybe a problem is the camera is not well protected, I hear alot of talk here for Motorola V3...or Motorolla V551....both of those phones are garbage and drop carriers consistently...here with rogers.. They Motorola menus are shit and very slow. They battery life on Motorolas is a Joke compared to nokia.......Motorolla drain the battery quickly...........Stop being ignorant. Accept the change, this phone rocks, and looks very,very cool.

Compared to V3X, Z540, Z800 its actually shorter and only a bit thicker. And thickness doesn't make phone look big, does it? No. And OMG it weights 139g! V3X is 125g and Z800 128g. What I'd give for a thin clam Nokia (like the v3)! Forget the camera, put in the connectivity and great calling features! This multimedia BS is driving me crazy! Carrying these bricks around is so inconvenient! Bring back the 8110 or whatever it was (the silver one)! I admit the 8800 is great but the price is out of my league. I wonder why Nokia is venturing in flip phones with such bulky designs.Flip phones are usually bought by people who love to flaunt or want to save space in their pocket.N90 is feature rich like the other N series, but it's like carrying a heavy brick for which I don't have a pocket of that size.Same is true for N71.They have also not included Vibratory mode in N90,this may be because no one will carry such big phones in their pocket.More phones like N70 should be introduced so that they fit in our pocket.Space,space,space......

it may not be as nice looking as n80 but n71 will definitely be much affordable cuz this one will cost around $480 vs $600 for n80. Well if 2mpx is ok for u, go for this n series, it's the cheapest amongst them! OMG i'm confused whether to get dis model or 3250, cuz n71 has far superior video recording, CIF vs QCIF of 3250, but 3250 will cost around $400 only! Only thing stopping me from choosing this n71 is its size specially the thickness almost 26mm kinda THICK and its design! Nonetheless it's great!
