I have 4 Nokia N91. I gave the 8Gb to my friend. I have a V20 with usb audio player pro installed. I have to say nokia n91 sounds better. Probably i upgrade the last firmware manually. Its not hard to upgrade just tricky. But it does sound better

The nokia n91 sound quality is utter trash avoid at all costs. Its overhyped and because people said it sounded good i went out and wasted my money on ebay. Mind you them posts on forums are around 2006 to 2008 on Google, so if you read them like me, you will be thinking this is a good music phone. It was at the time not now. Like danny said the volume is loud and i give it that, but the clarity is good only at low volumes with the eq no more than the middle for each slider the frequency adjusts. If you adjust the slider above more than half, the sound will start crackling. Also there is static in the background when you turn down the volume, no so sound quality now eh? Lots of distortion above 80% of volume. Not to mention the crap mono speaker on the left. Don't believe me, you can waste your money and try it for yourself. Even the first HTC M8 sounds better than this, of course with sound mods being rooted with sound enhacements. Nokia n91 is Not bad for £40 or $60 not £180 or $250, if you are spending that much you should know better to get a stand alone music player.

I don't understand what all the hype is about the nokia n91. I got one from the day it was released and still have it today. Now the sound quality on the internet is known to be good. The sound is decent, its nothing special, its just ok. The detail is not that great, clarity in vocals is just not there, its ok but not the best. It is loud on earphones, but sounds like crap if you turn the eq higher or go above 70%. Like somebody said on this site, the nokia n91 makes alot of hissing as even more when plugged in charging through the earphones. The music player is old and slow. No memory card support, what can you do with 4 or 8 gb these days. I like the phone for the timeless looks, but for having it as a music player probably not, i rather spend it on a standalone device that is made just for music. Dont spend £150 or $300 on this older banger. You will thank me later.

V20 and V30 beat N91 8GB with HD600 and Noble K10 IEM. Even the HTC one is on-par with N91. I have owned both N91 and N91 8GB. They are still one of the best, but no longer the king.

Its king for being loud, but the sound quality to me is not great, distortion etc... You got to admit there is hissing on low volumes. SQ is not that great, the nokia n91 can't even play flac files, the music player is laggy and you are only limited with 4 or 8 gb of music. I have a 32gb memory on my Samsung and its almost full of music. Each to there own i guess. I still like the classic nokia n91 feel and look though, its nice to have in a old school phone collection.

I compared n91 with N81 n82 n96 5800 3300 Samsung i450 Sony w950 HTC m8 sprint...no one sounds better even not close to n91...N81 is good but not loud as n91.. u may agree or not but n91 is real king of music via 3.5mm...even in 2018 no other phones comes near by n91' audio quality...

Also the fiio A5 is an amp not a dac. It has no chipest to improve sound quality, all it does is amplify, basically make the input signal more louder. If you are using a poor input source, i.e low sounding mp3 player having an amp will only make it sound louder, not better. Try getting the Nokia 5800 or the X6 and using your fiio A5 with it. They both have great SQ for phones, better than the N91 and an amp like yours will make a big difference on either of them. Then compare your nokia n91 against an Nokia 5800 or X6 with an amp, you be amazed how poorly sounding the nokia n91 really is. Also there is hissing on the nokia n91 at low volumes, not good for true SQ . You got the wrong amp if you want better sound. All amps do without the dac is add volume and more bass.

I will give it a try. But that way you loose alot of midrange around betwen 200 to 2000 hz. That will give you more bass, but i doubt more clarity.

I can confirm that my Nokia n91 is 100% original, i paid good money for mine. Yeah its loud, but it crackles and distorts at high volumes. So its not good for sound quality, as soon as you push it more than 70% the sound quality dips. The phone is loud via headphones, but the sound quality is not there for me, its poor, it was made in 2006 though, so i rate it at the time. I also own the NOKIA X6 the new xpressmusic style phone and the sound quality is much more better, also comes with stereo speakers, not so cheap mono speaker like with the nokia n91, however its not that loud, but at least its hi-fi quality and doesn't distort at high volumes when using headphones. If you need volume all you need is a headphone amp. SIMPLE.

lol man, you got a fake one lying across eBay. It drives my Sennheiser HD DJ7 efficiently with beats that will make Samdung's new age notes and galaxies a run for their money. And did I mention the amplifier? That is louder than anything ever I heard on a phone. And yes, I own V20, V30+, Vivo V5+, Lenovo Vibe X3 and yet N91 towers over them all alone.

Yeah, i just got one off ebay a few days ago, they nice to play with in your hand, but the sound quality sounds old. Its not clear at all, like you state it distorts easily. The nokia x6 sounds better than this. Nokia n91 too old its 2018 audio has moved on.

I was thinking to get the Nokia N91 all these years just to test the audio output on the phone. A few weeks ago i finally got my hands on one that is near mint. Straight the point. The sound quality is not that great as its said all over the internet it is overated. At high volumes it is distorted, the equalizer if you adjust the sliders above half in any of the 8 bands of eq it started to distort regardless if its on half or max volume. Not sure if its a fault in the operating system or not. I have to keep the eq flat to prevent distortion. The bass is very muddy and doesn't go deep below 40hz, sounds like a cheap 10 inch subwoofer regardless of what headphones you use. There is also a hissing in the background when you turn down the volume, reminds me of an old cassette player. At the time it was great i guess, but over 10 years + now my samsung s3, with custom audio mod / rooted with the wolfson dac chip sounds much more better. Don't buy the Nokia n91 for sound quality, the audio tech hardware it uses is outdated. For the prices it goes for around £150 for a good one, best get an Fiio DAC.

The senior model N91-1 had 3G and Wifi... The junior model N91-5 had only 2G & no Wifi. Similarly, the 8GB N91 also had 2 models, one with 3G & Wifi and other without. However, please note that it is 3G and not 3.5G (no HSDPA/ HSUPA), which means its 3G's maximum speed was about 384 kbps... that's it. I also owned one in the best days of my life... I wish HMD-Nokia revives this phone's experience in a modern day setup.

Just got one, very well preserved. Plugged Sony MDR-XB70AP headphones in, chose Martin Garrix's "Turn Up The Speakers", volume set to 50%, default equalizer, press Play...and after 2 mins I started to laugh hysterically. The sound output just blows away HTC M8 that I also own as well as my head and even dedicated music player from Sony (NWZ-E463) it's no match for it at many songs. Now I rarely use my MP3 player anymore!

Another phone close to N91 sound? I still use my N91 8Gb. Really like the faces of my friends when they compare the n91 sound vs iPhone, etc ,after they try to convince me that their devices are better in term of sound quality and loudness. I also use it as source for my amp.

Actually the sound mod sounds great even with AC3 tracks and dolby with EQ set to all bars max with earphones connected directly to the headphone jack rather than the AD54 adapter(which sounded distorted in this scenario). My AD54 is probably not genuine. A hacked 808 isn't just a great cameraphone, it's also a great audio device(both playback and recording).

The 808 is definitely better than the s4 at stock settings. However, one can improve the s4 sound by setting up Adapt sound properly(use a headphone that has a relatively flat profile, one that doesn't colour the sound too much). OR use jetaudio or poweramp players. For the 808, you'd need to hack it to get even better sound. Install the Delight custom firmware. This firmware increases the overall volume of the device for headphones without sacrificing quality. It gives you the ability to edit the equalizer in default player(which affects most other players too) and create your own eq profiles. It also has a sound mod that improves the output when an eq profile is selected(better seperation of instruments, clearer voice and clearer bass) that you can turn on/off. With the increased volume levels + custom eq set to all bars max + the sound mod on, the 808 sounds fantastic. Pair this with third party player QuasarMx for FLAC support and great playlist management as well as its own audio bass and treble enhancers, preamp and 10 band eq for a great experience. Unfortunately it does suffer from stability issues but such a hacked 808 blows away the s4(non rooted). When it comes to audio in video files, there is no competition. The sound mod+custom eq(default music player) + dolby is awesome for regular tracks. For AC3 tracks, Dolby + custom eq(all bars max) is sufficient, the sound mod off as it distorts in this scenario. The loudness filter(default music player) plus the activate bass mod can also be turned on to add some niceness to some videos although some purity will be lost. I own both the 808 and S4(exynos version) and there is no contest. I'm not sure how much V4A would improve the S4 but I'd need to hack the device as viper4android doesn't work with stock settings.

yes absolutely it is one of the first phone to offer high impedence driver unit to drive large headphones still use it besides my regular vivo x5 max. its has almost no distortion even at loudest point in headphones almost 50% is rich enough to supply sufficient power to casual earcanals...not too much of audio settings are there but it has 8band equlizer and loudness and pan audio and stereo audio controls and decent playlist organisation features as recent year artists genere albums etc ...and most of all durability.

the only reason i am still using this, jst coz of its music player..otherwise everything is outdated.. even better than reputed standalone music players, dn knw why nokia stopped putting in audio chips, n91 is very loud while maintaining audio quality, bass is superb audio hiss is 0%. such quality is rare now a days, todays phones hardly lasts for a year or two but my n91 is working perfectly fine since its very 1st day almost 9 years now, in 2005 i used to protect it as a mother cares her baby lol may b that is y its still with me n working.

I just recently got it around $40 (Rp.400.000)for 2 UNIT from 2nd hand store in Indonesia. They need tweak here and there but now they work enough for daily used. AND THE SOUND JUST STUNNING. I compare with my iphone 4, 3gs, ibasso dx50, sansa clip+, N8,N9,N900,fiio x3,.. all paired with cx300II...(yeah..i owned them all)...in my opinion.. The sound completely different...better and different. I listen to 192kbps-320kbps and they sound prefect, warm, crips, beeffy...The feel and The soul just macth. I know i only used entry level equipment...but even for a novice i can tell that N91 is The real celebrity for mp3 player. #this is my first post,and sorry for my bad english..#

It was a good comparision- n91 vs m8.. I hav purchased a used n91-1(8 Gb) few days back, totally abused condtion & i hav given it for complete restoration.. I own sony walkman z-764 & nokia 808. I doubt n91 could be restored as the spares in india is a problem and not received any progress abt the n91. I want to know the second best phone which is capable of reproducing upto 90% of audio quality which n91 does and comparision with n91(only symbian), detailed as ur previous review. To all those who think HTC M8 (One) or other earthly gadgets come near the N91 in terms of audio quality, here's some food for thought. HTC M8 has an integrated audio-amplifier support along with few razzmatazz in form of software tweaks and gimmicks to give you a placebo that the sound quality is improved. With a brand name of Harmann-Kardon, it's easy to trap customers in believing your words. Reality remains, M8 is hardware-limited to go any further down the beautiful sound alley that leads to salvation. That Harmon-Kardon thing you keep hearing about is plainly limited on embedded player that HTC comes loaded with. Root/disable/uninstall that, and HTC will sound like any other run of the mill phone. Now iPhones are distinguishable from the current gens mainly because the audio renderings in them are better than the Samsungs but not better than HTC flagships. Apple�s audio library has some exclusive dlls that make it possible to add a distinct ting to the sound they produce. The original beats on the m8 is just an algorithm designed to extract the best out of whatever audio it may produces. But then, put all these phones at one side and put N91 on the other - strictly for audio observations. I have a classy-chrome N91 with me for last 6 years or so. I have a Sennheiser CX300II, Sony XB90EX and BrainWavz R1 Dual Dynamic Earphones. During one fine Saturday, I went to nearest store to try out the M8 One as I was sick of �audiofools� going gaga over its oh-so-orgasmic audio output. The song I tried was Massive Attack - Angel on stock audio setting on both the phones. Part 1: M8 coupled with CX300II - Above average sound. Distinct mid-range but passable low and upper range with obvious muddled sound noticable. Sound quality at full volume is awfully shrill. M8 coupled with XB90EX - Same as above. Sony�s IEM are overrated like nothing else, barring a good built quality. Sound at full is quite OK, nothing to boast about. M8 coupled with Brainwavz R1 - Awesome! Low range was flattering, Mid was astoundingly wide in terms of sound spectrum but who listens to Angels on low and mids? Highs were good but indeed not loud! Yup I mean it! Part: II N91 with CX300II: Extremely bassy and yet so subtly vivid with sound produced. Though I could sense Sennheiser wasn�t happy when I jacked up the volume beyond 85%. The earphones were vibrating on even smallest of the beats!! That doesn�t imply a bad headphone just that, I used a 128 kbps mp3, whirr noise and static accompanies the song throughout. Or maybe a loose connection N91 with XB90EX: I take back my statements regarding Sony. They were astounding with ranges. You could hear the picks hitting the guitar at the very same time when intense bass blasting was flooding out of the spectrum. That was jaw dropping performance. Again, I couldn�t withstand beyond 90% of sound levels... N91 with Brainwavz R1: Just the perfect companion to the legendary N91. The very first beat of the song sent the shivers pumping down my spine, hair on my back stood up for the most versatile performance I�ve ever heard, I was immersed into the song beyond comprehension and at 85% of volume level, that electric guitar strumming which hits the song at the highest tempo, was masterfully rendered making it one of the most beautiful things I had ever heard. I recall hearing a song where I heard the singer whispering, before actually starting the song. My affinity with M8 one was long gone. The dedicated Toshiba DAC 33 DCH audio chipset, which was then not regulated by EU laws, led to the most beautiful thing in the audio arena ever, the world has witnessed. Even though N81 carries the same chipset, it is softer and more towards generic sound thanks to limited hardware prowess of the otherwise legendary chip. HTC M8 isn�t even remotely close to sound quality produced by even the N81. Yup I had that one as well. Software tweaks, good algorithms cannot replace even a real yet poor hardware. It�s like installing the best graphic driver for inbuilt graphic unit of motherboard will replace the need of an external graphics card. HTC One M8 is great but N91 great? Sorry to disappoint you guys, grab both and test it out yourself.

hi samarth... I hav listened to samsung S4 & S3 and i can clearly say that the stock mp3 player of s4(stock firmware) in the audio department is not as gud as nokia 808.. The instrument separation in s4 might be a bit better, but 808 is very accurate sounding compared to s4(with dolby turned off)..

Bharat, I have heard N91, Nokia 808 and Galaxy S4 in headphones. Nokia 808's audio is clean, clear, good enough if you love music. I have it, and I listen to it. Galaxy S4's audio is actually better than 808. Its audio is something you would call "spacious, crystal clear" with all elements being perfectly audible... There is a feeling of evolution in it. N91? Well, its the incomparable legend. Its sound is clear enough with all elements being precise and audible, but its enhanced bass, music processing and very high volume levels make listening music so damn exciting that nothing in mobile phones quite matches it. Today, you could attach a N91 to some serious amplifiers and it still has best fidelity among phones. And that audio quality.... it sounds "exciting" like nothing other can. No matter what you listen to, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Indie, Country..... N91 makes any music "better", such matured and lovely music processing it has. Seriously. You will have to listen it to know....

Finally i ve got it.can u believe it in 2013! Yes i m a music freak and i hate the rubbish android and its sons (read Samsung,Lg etc).i ve a smartphn though.i searched a lot.and found only one piece in kolkata ,India at rs 2400(40dollr approx).it is in very poor condition.but i will try ofcourse to repair it,after all it will be my companion forever.(sorry 4 my english).

I'm afraid that the Elop-misguided Nokia staff is not even seeing our comments. All I can hope is that they come to their senses and create a more modern N91 version 2 with: 1. FLAC+ 24 bit playback support, 2. Music modification, Pitch blending, speed, equalizer, etc. 3. Atleast 64 GB memory. 4. Upgraded Nokia Music setup with addition of high quality music option, 5. More music keys, 6. The SAME AUDIO QUALITY... not even 1% change, please. But its a sad dream. Won't be fulfilled unfortunately.

i'm currently using xperia l but i jumped to my old nokia n91 only due to it's audio chip inside WOW! i just felt the bass with my sennheiser cx 270 headphone which i couldn't on xperia l.xperia l has very low volume levels.

Yes,N9 is very good. Of course not as loud and bassy as the N91 but it is very clean with less hiss than the N91. But I really like the wider sound spectrum the N91 has. All in all, both are very good in terms of audio and they happen to be the two devices I use on a daily basis : ) ps: One has to be very carefull with the N91. It can really damage your ears. Be cautious!

nokia n91 uses a dsp chip from toshiba and a built-in amplifier made b Harman-Kardon.they tweaked the dsp chip to be at the halp of it's output power to avoid the distorsions,and they coupled it to the amplifier,witch boosted the volume very high.but the thing is:the signal that the amplifier boosts up is a very clean signal,due to the fact that the audio chip(dac) is set to be at the half of it's volume capacity even if you turn the volume up.that's why N9 has the cleanest,strongest,richest output ever.

i'm afraid nokia 3250 was a misfire in terms of audio quality.low output combined with high bass distorsion levels,a useless eqalizer that would make music sound distorded if the bass was lifted more than 3 quarters...and to make things worse,if loudness was set on the on position distorsions were amazingly high.pair that with the pop port connector and you've got yourself a mp3 player wannabe that actally sucks...by the way:they even got the reverberation settins wrong...

Yeah as I said in my previous post couple of months back, the N91 is Nokia's audio king and maybe the best ever. Surely it is the loudest mp3 player ever. Loud, super loud, with great bass and audio clarity. Only drawback is the some audio hiss but it's not that bad. But what I want to say today is that don't write off the N8 & N9. They are not better than the N91 of course but they are close. Along with 3250 and 5800 those phonea are Nokia's best audii devices. btw... the N9's audio player UI is stunningly beautiful. It's visuals and style are gorgeous. Also, the N900 has great audio. I am writing all this because I've been using Nokia phones since 1999 and the legendary 7110 and music is my main use on a skartphone since 2006 ane SE's W900 (which was awesome). Trust me when I tell you... N8,N9 & N900 have awesome music quality. The do not beat the N91 of course but they can compete with it. by the way, when we talk about music through speaker(s), things change. The leaders are the 5800XM and the 6110 Navigator. sorry for possible typos, I am writing from the N9. Cheers fans of music and Nokia! I salute you! :)

The TV adverts showed this set attached to a huge set of Bose headphones- a rare sight back then. And those adverts' music- Moby singing, "In my Heart". It was futuristic back then. I used it well: 2 MP Cam snapping quick pics now and then. Listening all kinds of music on it. I also liked a girl (VK) in my college, and she used to listen to music on my N91 a lot. n91 is really a good music phone but it lacks a memory card slot. The hard disk drive gets corrupted if the data exceeds 2.5 gb. Otherwise this will be an awesome musicphone without any compromise.

h every one , i have N91 8gb more over than 4 years it is one of the best which will never any of Mobile company will issue the the same opions compairing with the time is issued . in 2005 it was 3g - wifi- big memory - big secreen -all the options with is now in 2011 were compatitive with all other compaies the only problems for that phone is heavy weight - short live memory - no GPS-(no touch secreen which i think it is not problem) thanks firro

Make sure there is not a lot of applications running in the background, this will drain the battery significantly. Use GSM mode only, dual mode drains battery a lot faster. How often are you in the need of downloading at the same time as on the phone anyways? Unless you're using video-calls.

i've had an N91 8GB for over 3 years now and it is no longer fully funtional but i cant get rid of it. i love it soo much. yea when it says memory full, ignore it because there's nothing you can do about it however if you want to transfer anything, use a usb cable and transfer from a laptop but if you use bluetooth, it never going to work

I have this phone for about 2 years now,the music features are amazing & the hard drive space is ridiculous but i have a lil problem with the wi-fi. Last year i bought a Cisco wireless router & as i tried to surf the net(on my phone) with it, it either never goes past the 1st webpage or it just doesn't load at all. I don't know if its because something is wrong with the phone itself's wifi or the router cause it(wifi) works perfectly with any other wireless acces point, so i think you can understand my frustration! I even tried playing around with the wifi settings a lil bit. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Charge battery and back up your daa if you can,if you cant you have nothing to loose. Put in *#7370# to reset device back to factory condition as if you bought it new. run it thru nokia software updater.

this is not my ego sense, but i consider myself as a better cellphone consultant even than an official critic or expert. so here i want to share with all of u about N91 experience n experiment: 1. 1st thing 1st, its music: it has Toshiba DAC-33 chip for sound hardware. i tell u, no no no i bet u that its music quality is comparatively best in the world than any other cell phone of this world till date or even an i-pod shuffle. just consider to use a good headset like sennhieser or boss. 2. u'll never find a better camera picture quality in 2 mp camera category except N91. if u use photoshop, u can create a digital camera like photo. it can also record vcd quality video. 3. sophisticated cell phone with symbian s60 os yet nokia's user friendly materials. 4. exceed of memory for performing all functions. 5. a royal n unique design. 6. finally most of us criticize this cell phone for some drawbacks. but just bring to me an another cell phone that have the features that i've mentioned in above. good people n good things always have some weakness. but it doesn't means that they r ignored. if u notice then u'll see that what types of major celebrities has this cellphone.....

I think this phone is really good, i mean, you don't always get a phone that's that good from Nokia. But the only hitch I have is the battery life. I think Nokia should have done something about that. I have mine, but I just can't find a new housing. Otherwise, everything's good about that 4n. I love it.

I remember having this problem in my n91 as well, I don't use it anymore but I still have it as its 1 unique phone. I will look into it and let you know, as I remember the problem went away, try restarting the phone, taking the battery out. i used this phone for a decently long while...and i swear i am still in love with it...its the best looking thing any phone company ever came up with. however with 64MB ram, its rather slow. so after a few months of usage and say about 70% of d hdd filled, the phone became tortoise slow. used to hang every so often...if id send a text (biggest issue), the phone would go into a coma..it would blank out for some time in which i could do nthng till the text got sent..this time period of wait was iitailly 4mins and towards d dying stages of d phone went upto 7mins...i rekon deleting msgs will help!!!

I seen this, its the weirdest fone ever made. I dont think any other nokia has lower second hand value than this one, so those who buy this now shud not pay too much. If at all. No it doesn't. Nokia never made any dual sim phones, those you may have seen are chinese copies. If you do want a dual sim mobile get either the Samsung Duos, or one of the "Sciphone" series (iphone replica made by CECT). Nokia copies are just a waste of time, and are 10 times worse than even the most basic real Nokia.

When I bought my N91 it had no wifi, but had N91-2 and RM-43 written on the back (below the battery) and when I dialled *#0000# I found that I had V3.10.023 and RM-158 installed. I flashed my phone with the same software version but the firmware was for RM-43 and I got wifi functionality in my phone. Don't know why RM-158 (non-wifi) is installed on RM-43.

this doesnt damage your hard drive....face the phone towards you...put a magnet on the back right hand side ...hold it on the outside . see if your hard drive switches on or just ask some one that also has an N91 if you could put thier back cover on your phone ...then check if your hard drive works...the magnet switches the hard drive ON...

Not realy. The N91 was dethroned long ago by phones like the Samsung i450, Nokia N81, Samsung Innov8, i8910 OmniaHD, iPhone3GS, SE W995 and Aino, theres more,but ultimately theres no longer a "king of audio" ,most are around the same.

I've been using my N91 for several years now, and although it can be a bit slow and can occasionally hickup, its still in good working order. I have upgraded the OS over a year ago, so I'm running the latest version. I have an unusual problen with deleted Access Points. I use my N91 to make VOIP calls, using Nimbuzz and sometimes Fring. I predefine the Access Point for my N91 WIFI connection to my router. I have noticed that Nimbuzz and also Fring display Deleted Access Points in addition to currently predefined Access Points. The deleted Access Points dont show when I display Access Points through my N91's menu > tools > settings > connection > Access Points. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem?

Sometimes it happens kit.. Turn OFF the phone and turn it back ON. If that doesn't work, remove and re-insert the battery.

u can connect it to any PC using a USB 2.0. There is no need to install PC suite for N91 but you will have to go to connection manager of 91 & select the option as "Ask on Connection". Once this is done then when you connect you set with the Pc then the phone will ask the mode of connection. So select "Mass Storage". But remeber when you select it as mass storage then you fone will be offline till the time you don't discontec the connection from PC. Remeber now n91 will work as a PEN DRIVE/USB so whil disconecting from PC disconect it by cliclking on "safely remove the hardware. Hope this helps you.....

N91 Sounds little off compared to iPhone 3G whereas Samsung i450 Sounds equally good except for volume. Volume problem is in iPhone 3G too as compared to N91 but ultimately you have to think about iPhone 3G simply because it has far latest technology and support. Hence little of sound quality should not matter.

Hard Drive can not be displayed means the Phone has been attacked by very strong virus.Only solution is to format the hard drive of Nokia N91 or you can go to factory setting. 1st thing you've to do: type *#7370# and dial,than the phone will ask you to type security code(Default security code is 12345).You will get the solution. This phone is very outdated BUT, N91 is has the best sound quality via the headphones among all Nokia phones even up to now. N91 is also the most durable and most solid Nseries phone ever. I've been using it for 2 years already and it still performs excellently. The latest Nseries are cheaply built and made of very cheap plastic that creaks all the time. N91 is really a very tough device.

i don't understand how people consider this phone (or any other nokia) to have the best music. I'm saying this because the earphone which comes with it is so bad. Even when hooked up with ipod touch (which i believe has the best sound quality) the quality of the sound from the earphone is still bad.

I've had and checked many phones such as w-series and k-series of SE , n-series of nokia , etc . now i have innov8 and n95 ( for checking the quality of features ). if your goal is music , without any overstatement , nothing can make you satisfied BUT N95 (volume or clarity). Be sure about it !

From other forum, I got link for this updated firmware for 8GB which is: Can I update my firmware? Any anticipated problem? What advantages you got after updation to this latest firmware? do not use superglue bcos after gluing it is going to be whitish at the back and then the screen would not longer be visible instead use a glue or gum that takes time before u stick both of them together eg the type u use in gluing shoe or lets say leather.

there are 2 variants of n91. n91-1 which has wifi and 3g, and n91-5 which doesn't have wifi and 3g. i think nokia should've not made the n91-5 because many people were misled by that particular variant.

ive tried both n81 and n91 in a sound test. i used a pair of senheisser headphone. i played same mp3 file with 192kbps on both phones. n81 sounds great. but n91 sounds even greater. i can't put it into words. u have to hear it by yourself. n91 is the king of sound.

Ive tried a lot of phones, from 5610, 5700, N73 ME, N76, N81, N95, to SE K850i, W800i, W910i, W960i, P1i, and none of them produce the same audio quality as N91. N91 has this certain power and amplification in its audio quality that makes listening to songs so much enjoyable. You can hear every audio elements, the highs and lows, the treble and bass, the kickass volume... Even a low bitrate music file encoded in stereo, sounds good on N91. Even the bundled headset provides great sound quality. And the best thing is when you hook it up to a Bose headphone, sound becomes so much better. You have to hear it with your own ears to believe it. Its so much pleasure listening to music on N91. Even songs you don't wanna play sounds good on N91. N91 rules. I still can't find a worthy replacement for my N91 up to now.

I strongly agree. N91 is very very durable.. i dropped it several times accidentaly but it doesn't even get a scratch.. =.= i could use it as a weapon as well you know it's like a brick!! lol Anyway, another thing i love about N91 is that you can use the headphones of most common type.

you are a liar! my n91 is almost 3 years old and it's still very good as new! hard drive is very tough! the phone's casing is the most durable. no matter what abuse i do to this phone, it does not malfunction. old phone models are more durable than new ones. cannot remember how many times i dropped my phone and all i get are simple scratches that's just okay for a 3 year old phone. this is a phone that is sure to last for a decade or more! this is the most solidly built nseries. the rest of the nseries are cheap and really feels cheap! lucky are those who have this magnificent phons! viva la vida n91!

Lol, dont be so sure i have taken apart my old N80 and a friends N91-8gb, that metal can easily bend and dent, and its cheaply stuck on the plastic. The N81 has an outer rim thats pretty thick, ive dropped my N81 on concrete, it fell about 2.5metres, and all it got was a scratch on the rim. But anyway its lovely how fooled you are by the "metal", so im still waiting to hear what else its good at besides music? Multitasking? No. Speedy? No. Good screen? No. Good battery life? Hell no. What is it good at? If i want to throw something against the wall il throw a ball, not my phone, cause that would just be stupid.

N91 means Business? It has under 17mb RAM at start up, it has a 2.1inch 176x220 poor res screen, it has low battery life, it has a poor keypad, it looks like a hammer, slow UI, slow CPU, it cant go higher than 8GB, poor loudspeaker, but hey its got good music quality, but it cant stay up for longer than a day, lol yep it realy means business, PATHETIC business. Looks can be decieving, because even if the N81 may look like a toy its a great device that does all its meant to do plus more impressively, most if not all sites say its sound is as good as N91 just volume is softer due to EU Restriction, best part is it can be a proper Smartphone when needed to because its not like you're listening to Music ALL DAY LONG, the N81 can also double for Gaming, true Web browsing with loads of RAM to back it etc. . . .lol the only device that means business between the two is the N81 itself because after you shut off its Music Player, it's still great at other things. NOKIA will never make a N91 type device again, this lemon sucked EVERYTHING else except for Audio Quality. It was big,slow UI, low battery life, crap screen, weird keypad, etc. . .as much as i liked N91 it just had way too many flaws, hence why they made the N81 which gives excellent Audio Quality, loads of RAM to Multitask, a beautiful bright, colourful 2.4inch 16M colour screen, 369mhz CPU for fast UI, FP2 Menu Effects to make it enjoyable to use, Ngage Gaming for those long trips, On-Demand Paging to make it very stable and less power hungry, spring loaded key lock switch etc. . . To make it more useable, and a lot more user-friendly thats why the N81 makes a good N91 replacement, its good at EVERYTHING the N91 was bad at, and better at some things the N91 was good. n91 was released 3 years ago, the 1st 3rd edition s60 phone, at that time 176x208 pixel is the only available on s60. qvga resolution just appeared just until 2006. even if n91 may be beaten in other aspects but newer phones, n91 still is better than these latest phones in some aspects. sound quality is unmatch still up to now, build quality is the best in the nseries! n91 ia truly one unique phone. it's a phone that will not be forgotten unlike these new phones that are so alike with each other!

i have a nokia n91. i bought it 2 years ago. i never updated its firmware since then. it's still the same 1.10 as it used to be. actually, i don't have problems with the old firmware on my n91. i don't know about yoy but my phone doesn't hang at all. it hanged as i can remember in first few days when i bought it. but now i never experience any hanging problem. my phone also does not lag except in the gallery when opening my tracks, but in the other menu and in the music player it's so fast. of course i've had some serious problems with it. in 2 years of using my n91, i encountered hard drive corrupted only 2 times. but since then my n91 is functioning very good. but actually my main problem above anything else is the BATTERY!!! i have changed my first battery already because it became physically large, the center part was like bloated that i could not fit it inside the phone. and also, battery life was noticeably reduced a lot. now i'm in my second battery. but it seems like my problem on my first battery is happening again this time. i can feel in my fingers that the battery is becoming larger and larger in physical size like it's getting swollen, or bloated or bulging. also battery life is becoming shorter and shorter. how can i remedy this problem? is it the battery's problem only or of my unit? i know that soon i have to buy a new battery again but please help me sort this problem. pls help me. thank you.

N91 is louder than N81 with or without EU volume restriction and there's nothing that can be done about that. It's in the hardware not just the software. Contrary to what people know N91 has different audio chip compared to N81. N91's audio chip is manufactured by Texas Instruments.

N81 has the same audio quality as N91. Very much the same. N81 is even better because of volume restriction. N91's sound is so painful to the ears after a long time. It can damage your hearing. It happens to me. N81 is the best music phone.

I have this phone and all I can say is its loudness impairs your hearing after a long time. Keypad is the worst ever I've ever tried. Joystick is horrible to use. Menu key so inconveniently placed at the upper right side. You can't multitask at least 3 heavy applications. Screen is poor and dull. Loudspeaker is not even loud at all. User interface is boring.Battery is the worst thing about this phone. This phone is a disaster. It's a total opposite of N81! N81 is the best music phone. N81's APAC firmware has no EU volume restriction and it sounds better than N81. But I prefer the EMEA firmware with volume restriction. N91 impaired my right ear. So for music addicts out there, better get a phone that has volume restriction. After 2 years of using N91 I give this phone 4/10 rating. I give N81 8/10.

I traded my Nokia n80 for this one. I'm missing my n80's camera and screen resolution. Also, the wifi menu on the active standby. Other than those mentioned, I'm pretty much content with this one. If you're planning on buying this one, I suggest look at ebay or other shops that sells 2nd hand items. Don't waste you're money on a brand new one. Get a n82, n95, n96 instead.

After having this set for 2 years, my opinions are :-- Camera - 4/ 10 Music - 9.5/ 10 Memory Stability/ Lag - 4/ 10 Overall Features - 7/ 10 Moreover, I still can't find a decent upgrade for my N91. I need SAME MUSIC with better Camera. I'm Considering Samsung Omnia, Samsung INNOV8, Samsung U600, LG KF750 Secret, etc. Wondering why no Nokia's in the list, because their "music" phones get only 2 MP Toy Cameras ... I just bought some Ultimate Ears Super-Fi 5 Pro headphones, oh my god!! i have never heard my N91 8GB sound so good, you will hear more detail on your 320kbps mp3`s you even have to turn the volume down to half or less as you dont need it up as much as you do on the standard Nokia earphones, they cost me �115, but the best investment i ever made, tried them in my brothers ipod and even that improves, but still the N91 is king of Audio Quality, buy these headphones!!

Sorry they are not. Just look at the Frequency response between N81 (in review on GSM arena) and the one on sumbianworld. N91 is cleaner and has a boost in the base end. N91 is better quality than N81. Best music audio quality jh

as a music phone and as a complete package n81 is better than n91. n91 only edges out n81 in audio quality. n91 has better sound quality via 3.5mm jack, louder and has more bass. well, n81 and n91 share the same dedicated audio chip in the first place. but n81's inferiority of sound quality to n91 can be attributed to n81's having "EU VOLUME RESTRICTION" in it, as well as its music player's 5-band equalizer only. set aside n91, n81 has best audio quality among all nseries. n81 is also overall better than n91. i've had a n81 8gb before but i sold it already to buy n82.. i still have n91. but if i could sell n91 for higher price, i would have sold it instead of my n81 8gb. i just find my previous n81 as so much betteras a whole than my current n91. battery, screen, dimension, software, form factor, design, and more extras, n81's so much better. only loses a couple of points to n91 in audio quality.

Hi I have tried both and went back to My N91 8GB. From a headset music perspective , sound quality , loudness , music keys and focus nothing beats it, not even the N81 N91 won the head to head competition in stuff magazine back in 2006 (pre N81) and won against the iphone and has been compared to the tand alone iPOD as well (beating it in the majority of audio areas). N91 is the best thus far and i have seen no similar contest wins by N81 for example. With that said however I was informed the N91/N91 8GB went out of production in late 2007/early 2008 i suspect because flash memory costs are better now for 8+ GB making HDD's no longer needed and these high end devices tend to live about that long. So unless you can find an N91 9GB then N81 is the next bestthing (wrt to MUSIC). I myself want to try the N96 when it come out. Cheers pappy

i've had both n91 and n81 8gb, and n81 8gb is overall better than n91 as a music phone! n91 only beats n81 8gb in sound quality but not by too much! but the rest, n81 8gb is so much better as a whole, better battery, better design, better keypad, more stylish, so much more ram for multitasking, a lot better screen, much more stable software, better storage disk, and more essential extras like dual stereo speakers, ngage and naviwheel. n81 8gb is a complete package as music player!

Hi, got the Nokia N91 off a friend for $40. When I got it, it had a nasty dent on the side of it and firmware problems, but with searching round the shops and ebay, I found a nice new housing for it, and upgraded the firmware to version 2.10.013. Nokia N91 is one of the greatest phones ever, with symbian 9.1, Wi-Fi, bluetooth and a fully functional music centre, the N91 is sure a great phone, with a great 4gb hard drive, for all your games, music, video and images, it is sure for the multimedia/business person. n91-1 (n91 wcdma), n91-5 (n91 gsm-only), n91-2 (n91 8gb) have virtually no noticeable difference in their audio quality. they have the same audio hardware chip installed, same sound processing built into the firmware so they have the same audio quality via 3.5mm audio jack.

My N81 doesn't give off any creek sounds unless when the battery cover is not completely closed. Theres play in the slider? WTF!? Its so smooth, yes it has a slight wobble but nothing serious. I don't understand why some of you N91 users are so bitter about the N81. The N81 is a lot better allround, Get over it.

N91 vs N81 - Well N81 has very poor industrial design, its useability is much worse than the N80, N91 etc. Poor mechanics, everything creaks and there is all kinds of play in the slide, just horrible. Also the music is not as loud as N91 and its actually heavier than the N91 and it is not made of steel - go figure

From this time many /companys & Nokia released many multimedia or Music Phone like 5610,N73-M,N95,N70-M,5310 Music Express,Moto E6;E8, Samsung Beat 450 e.t.c. But No one have Better sound than N91. Thats' why, its call "iPOD Killer".It come with "BOSE" Mobile-Sound IC,for this it sounds too good. But its (-) Point: the Nokia earphone is too Poor Quality for this Phone. It sounds Better if you use sony Erricson Vacume earphone or Genius Vacume earphone or Creative Vacume earphone or BOSE Triport earphones.Sony W810,W910 is good Music Phone but not better than N91... the hard drive is a fragile component of n91 but contrary to what most people know, it's very well protected inside the phone. you are more likely to damage your n91's exterior rather than hard drive when you abuse it. see how durable n91 is? i've noticed something in the n91 specifications page. it says there that n91 has dual arm 9 processor running at 220mhz. the other older models don't have dual processor, just single arm 9. now, it's once clear how special n91 is among other phones.

n91 is a great phone! i love it! the sound via 3.5mm jack is fantastic! whether im listening through the headset or my n91 is hooked to my stereo component, sound is just so good! it makes you want to listen to music even if youre not a music lover. even a low quality mp3 file sounds good when played in n91. im just thinking why nokia doesnt put the audio quality of n91 to their latest phone models. i will buy a new phone sooner or later for other features but im keeping my n91 forever as my main music player. im just not enjoying listening to music in other mp3 players now that im used to the sonic experience of n91. i mean, you gotta hear it to believe it.

have this phone n91-5 for 2 years already. still on old 1.10 firmware. great sound via headset. good sound via home stereo component. very durable. very solid. good video quality. average image quality. bad speaker. fine keypad. worst battery life, hardly last 2 hours on music playback. boring screen. nice, unique, classy design. prone to fingerprints, smudges, scratches. fat, not so pocketable, no 3g. no wifi. overall experience, good at least for me! need to replace it cos it doesnt give all my needs in a mobile. i want a phone that has larger nicer screen, long lasting battery, loud stereo speakers, has 3g and wifi, better camera, and a lot more convenient to use and manipulate. either n78 n81 8gb or n82 would be my next mobile phone.

It's disappointing that Nokia hasn't replaced the N91 yet as its flagship music phone. It's been 3 years now. There isn't any music phone released by Nokia either in the Nseries or XpressMusic lineup that can surpass nor even equal N91's audio quality and sonic experience. N91 still has the best and loudest sound among all Nokia phones up to this moment. That's something that N91 has that new phone models lack, even those music phones announced to have been equipped with dedicated audio chip. I wonder what audio chip was installed in the likes of 5320xm, n78, n81 8gb and those phone still don't beat N91's sound quality. I'm glad I still have my 2 year-old N91. It will remain my main music device forever. I'm going to buy an all-in-one device this time, not a music phone anymore.

N91 is one of the most durable phones ever. Even if you throw it intentionally or even you put much pressure on it just to test its durability, you're most likely to damage the external parts rather than the internal, which includes the HDD. It can withstand a lot of physical abuses.

Lol ive got a N81 i don't use my N80 often anymore but i can also type fast on N80. I won't lie my N80 is scratchd mainly because i droppd it down a rock face when i was absailing, it fell down the equivalent of 2stories and landed face 1st, thank goodness its screen is recessd or it would have also bn scratchd,im pretty sure if i did the same with a N91 its sensetive lil HDD would have died. :-P

Yes, N91 has better keypad. I can even type in accurately without looking in the keypad nor the screen. Let's see which phone will last 5 years and more. My N91 is already over 2 years old and it's in perfect condition. How about yours? :-p

Excuse me but did you just say N91 has a better and more text friendly keypad than a N80? That is utter rubbish! The N80's keypad is a lot more text friendly and well spaced out, one of the best Nseries keypads along with the N93's keypad. Battery life? Lets be honest here the N80 and N91 both have bad battery life, both differ by like an hour. At the end of the day the N80 was a lot better than a N91 as an allround device, i'd know ive got a N80 had it for over a year and a friends N91-8GB. I really cant see why you claim the N91 to be better than a N80, the only thing the N91 had over the N80 was the 8GB Memory and the Sound Quality otherwise the N80 had the better camera, screen, better memory management, more stable, MUCH better keypad etc. . . Im sorry but except for music the N91 is not that great at anything else and its definetly not a better smartphone than the N80.

Come on, all Nseries phones prior to the release of N76 have all limited amount of RAM! N80 has only 18MB free amount of RAM which doesn't make any difference with the 14MB free RAM on N91. Yes, N80 has 352x416px screen but battery life sucks and sucks more compared to N91. N91 physical aspect is a lot better than N80, it's a LOT MORE durable, the sliding keypad cover NEVER looses, alphanumeric keypad is INCREDIBLY better and MORE text-friendly, and has FASTER Java! People criticise N91 based only on their initial impression, that it's huge blah blah blah, but actual user experience is considerably SATISFACTORY! N80, on paper, seems so good enough, but actual experience is DISAPPOINTING! In short, N91 is BETTER than N80! If N91 is bulky and heavy which isn't that much, only to those VERY EXAGGERATED, OVERACTING people, then N80 is like a midget, short but thick and fat! :-p

Well 1st of all it has VERY little RAM, around 14mb ram on boot up, its using a slow HDD, it has a low screen res of 178x220 and a strangely placed Menu key that ALL makes the N91 a weak smartphone. last time i checkd a N80 had 21mb RAM on boot up, mem card support, a high screen res of 352x416, and its keys are very well placed, so at the time N80 was a better smartphone at a lower price, even the N70 made a better smartphone with 32mb RAM on boot up. IMO for a smartphone to be good it must ATLEAST have a decent amount of RAM available for Multitasking, well set out keys for quick access and a nice res screen. QVGA 2 to 2.8inch is good IMO.

I had N91 8GB It was a pain. Never performed. In six months it went thrice for repair at Nokia Care. In India Nokia Care sucks. hey refused to issue a replacement and went on giving run arounds. inally I wrote to the CEO in Finland and pat came the action. I recieved a call from CCo South India today and said they have issued a replacement N73M and will be getting in an week.

In actual fact. ergonomics and useability tests done by Stuff Magazine back in 2006 the N91 was tops against the RAZR and some Samsung phone - i forget. The keynat keys are small but raised quite high and are very easy. For myself I can text faster than i could on the N81 i had for a while. The industrial design i admit is polarizing -either you love it or hate it. I still love it. I saw on You tube from the Marketing guy after the N96 launch that the same design team did the upcoming N96 so they were not fired, looks like they were rewarded to me to get the next big thing for Nokia pappy

I've just learnt it. The N78 has exactly the same audio chip of N81 and N91. The hardware chip only exclusive before to a flagship device like N91 is now just a regular component of a mid-class handset like N78.

N81 and N91 have the same audio chip hardware. N81 has upgraded software. N91 has old outdated software. They must sound the same since they have the same hardware. Infact, N81 has the edge since it has a newer software which controls the audio output quality. A great music phone is not about the audio quality alone. It's about all the facilities. Better battery life, more decent screen, nicer, faster user interface, slimmer dimension, etcetera, etcetera... in short, it's all about the overall user experience, how good it is. N81 is the best music phone right now! The rest are just second best.

I have been using this phone N91 for over 3 years. And it is still in original condition. It is an awsome phone best for hard use. Once it fallen on the road from a moving vehicle when I was travelling at 80 KMPH but nothing happened and still working.

Hi My wife is still using the N91 and I am still using the N91 8GB. Yes there were some sw problems initially that led to some crashes, HDD being "unavailable" etc. I believe that was something to do with the new wave of the symbian operation system called S60 3.0. (N80, N93, N73, E70 etc) suffered a bit with this. But if you updated your device via NSU with SW version 2.x for the N91 then it solved most of these problems. I hope/think nokia learned alot from that about what it measn to release such a big change in the sw (see symbian blgs). In fact i heard (cant confirm) that they were going to even start setting up beta users (like microsoft does) where people can sign up to get the devices for free?? to test them out. Not sure but if anyone has any info on this id like to give it a go. pappy

Forgive me but I've gotta say this. N91 is the worst Nseries phone and probably the worst Nokia phone ever! Never a phone has generated so many negative consumer feedback only N91! When it was first released everyone was craving and lusting for this phone until it all became hell-like experience with N91: endless hangs, always problematic hard drive, worst ergonomics and construction, battery that explodes, buggy software, deceptive marketing scheme of 2 unannounced versions of this device that made those unfortunate fellas curse it like hell! The good thing is N91 is a thing of the past. Nokia promised never to make a N91-like thing in the future! I'm glad I'm so over this device! I already threw my old N91 in the garbage. If u want the sound of N91 and the screen of 5700, it's all in the N81 8GB. If u want something that's lighter in weight than N91, then its the N81 8GB again. Want both 3G & wifi? N81 8GB has them all and even has better battery life for longer internet browsing. If u want the combined features of 5700 & N91, its all in the N81 8GB. For the record, N81 8GB has the same audio quality as N91, only softer in volume. The two have the same audio hardware chip so they should sound the same. i will have to find that out for myself cos im getting a n81 8gb soon. n91 8gb is a great music phone but n81 8gb could be greater. set aside stuff like screen, memory type, processor speed, battery, etc., n81 8gb still for me is the best music phone, same audio chip as n91 so sound should be in par with n91, more advanced software and user interface.. if youre talkin about loudness, n91 8gb is indeed super loud. but is loudness the sole criteria for judging a music player as the best in audio quality? you can adjust n81 8gb's volume by 20 steps which is better than n91's 10-step, practically, to avoid damaging your hearing. cant wait to have n81 8gb. it would be the perfect upgrade for my old n91 8gb.

Hi As far as i remember the N91-5 is lacking the WLAN chip so no sw upgrade can fix that. Also i believe you cannot put the AD2P se from the N91 8Gb on to an N91 Cheers

Gents, Ladies I have a N91 4Gig for 2 years now. And no regrets. But today the fone hung and i couldn't switch it off(long press on ON/OFF). So in my infinite wisdom;-) I removed the battery, then re-inserted it and switched on(long press on ON/OFF). Now all I got is this 'white screen of death'. Doesn't respond to any keys. Doesn't indicate charge when plugged into charger. Can't switch it off either. Had to remove batt again. I am sitting here with my jewellers screwdrivers ready to perform surgery. Yesterday I became proud owner of one piece of history - N91 8Gb. The phone looks amazing, sound quality is perfect and the 8 GB space is more than enough for everything. The screen is shit but I don�t care because I love this phone.

hi guys, pls help, im in great need, i have n91 4gb.. here's the story, before i sleep last nyt i used my n91 to play some music and sent messages.. this morning when i woke up, i discovered that my phone is drained so i charged it a bit and when i opened it, the backlight is not working but the softwares are good.. i removed the battery and the card, then when i opened it, my phone has back light but it doesnt turn off, so it drains out my battery so fast... pls help me.. what's the prob with my phone.. thank you for your replies...

hi..i've already deleted the data folder in e:/system/data,,turn off and then on my phone,,refresh the music library,,but it keeps on refreshing and refreshing and it doesnt end on refreshing until i stop it,,but no songs are added,,there are zero songs in the music player but i can see all the songs in the gallery & file mngr..i cant use the music player to play my songs so i use the gallery & its very inconvenient..i think the data folder in e:/system/data contains only the gallery database and not the music player database..is there any other solution besides reformatting the hard drive? thank u

hey guys gud eve, can somebody explain to me what is hdd? coz as i read the comments in here, one says that it is a must to have a folder for every files, like for example 1 folder contains 50 songs,then another folder 50 songs, just like defragmentation in pc,says edmund.i dont have n91 yet coz im searching the net and reading the comments of different mobile phones coz im planning to buy a new one, and im searching for the best phone to buy. pls help me to decide which phone to buy. thanks in advance. email me at [email protected] or text me at 09173657222. im from the Philippines.

Hi formatting it will solve it however since you have no PC maybe its just that the music database was screwed up. See the post below i gave for joseph and see if that works first (remember arferwards to refresh your music libbary ) pappy

Your problem is concern to HDD,you must have to format your hdd through the phone itself.Do full format only before that if possible take a back up to any computer.It will work .I had a same problem,i formatted my hdd and its worked well.

I Have had a Nokia N91 8GB for about 6 months now, only yesterday its beginning to have trouble, i was listening to some MP3`s that i have always listened to and it suddenly PAUSED itself! so i pressed play and continued, it then did it again 10 seconds later.........WHY ??????? Pappy??????

Must say...Whatever you people think,conclude.....whatever...This phone is GOD OF ALL MUSIC PHONES...as being a Fulltime DJ, My chioces varies from ranges in case of music mobiles...and naturally I look for the sound quality produced..seriously this phone has changed my habit of changing phones...all SE phones are minnows in front of this phone...thou bat life sucks.....I still change phones but this one is always with me..no matter whatever happens..hale NOKIA N91!!!

N91 dosent support sis files cuz of it have latest os means s60 3rd version.It accept only sisx files only. Enjoy the music.

I am satisfied with the capabilities of this phone except that for one thing.I want to install a pdf reader on this phone and i have obtained the pdf+.sis but it is not installing and an error message saying does not support file.To my knowledge if this phone is sybian it shoul accept sis files. Before this phone i had a nokia 6600 and on the 6600 pdf+ and other sisfiles have worked.hopefully i think this phone is more capable than the 6600 not less capable. any opinions please?

I am using this phone since last 3 months and i should say its a great phone. Its best in the price range (in india its available at the cost of n 73 and n 91 is much superior ) its looks are the best. And it has 8 gb memory. Currently im online from it. Its main cons is that the sound is lower than other handsets. And the phone sometimes restarts on its own.

To joseph Did you refresh you musi library from within the music player? If no try it. If that doens work then it may be your music library is corrupted. Tru deleting the database Go to filemanager (filing cabinet icon) Move joystick to switch to HDD tab Select Options Select Find Select HDD memory Type in system in "Find Text" field See the system folder then see data folder erase the whole data folder Power cycle the device If that doesn work then see tips a tricks cheers

Pappi u seem to be the guru with this N91 8GB problem is that my player cant detect songs the hard drive. so palyer will say no songs. yyet in the picture gallery the pictures are stores under images on the hard drive and those i can access with no difficulty........ santos...inside the battery cover is a little magnet ...check that it hasnt fallen out...try putting a magnet on the side of the phone and see if the message goes away

soloman when you use crystal cover it touches the volume button ....causes all the other buttons to stop working...only one button can be pushed at a time ....try modifying the crystal case so it dont touch any buttons

Got the phone for almost a year now and it sucks, battery life terrible, cant play more than 2 hours of music when battery dies and freezes because of the hard drive, cant answer calls not matter what i do sometimes, this is all after software upgrade, it has no flash.front camera or proper alarm clock and takes long to get into the menu's.i Regret getting this phone.

DONT buy this phone dont even think about it!it hangs 15 hours out of 24 hours.apart from good music nothing special Nokia stopped manufacturing this set may be because of hanging problem

it's just a great phone having a wonderful sound quality........... but when i m using crystal cover for its protection, many of its switches stop working. and it starts showing unexpected behaviour.... help me out????/

se w960 have a nice sound quality,but lack of special dedicated audio chip(DAC-33 IN N91) and because of EU volume restriction it dosent produces a extremely high quality audio like n91.Infact no any single walkman phone sounded like great n91.w960 sucks because of low sound output through out the headset. Thanks to audio chip(DAC-33),and powerful amplifier to make N91 such a special sounding machine.

for all those with hardrive problems ...check the back cover with another n91 back cover i had problem with my hardrive because the littlke magnet fell out the cover...the magnet switches the hardrive on.

I have one correction to make to what GsmArena has said about the N91 4GB and that is that this version also has A2DP profile, and it works like a charm :D .

N81 is definately not clearer than the N91, i have both phones, the N91 is in a "class of its own" - its Louder and better clarity bar none..

nokia n91 is the best fone ever...i purchased it for almost 2 yrs and still got a good condition coz i learned how to use it properly ...i read all the stuffs and care maintainace to this site.. at first my hard drive got corrupted easily coz there are some unknown folder is showing on my file manager[ it means it has a virus in it] but the time i installed a NOKIA pc suit on my pc the problem gor solve..and it almost a year since my memory got corrupted...i guess all the NOKIA N91 user should know how to use the device in able for them to make the optimum function of this fone... i am so happy i have this fone coz the fone really rocks got good quality sounds when you plug it in a speaker...and also i love the dedicated music bottons... but 2 thing is bad on this fone..easily got battery empty...[ so i have 2 batteries for back up] and the mouth piece easily got broke...when you have conversation on this fone...it is badly noisy...like a buzzzzz... but i rate this fone 8.5/10 thas all... any question can email me... Am a proud user of n91 8gb.. i agree,de phone s slow.. Less ram.. Browsin not so good.. Screen resolution ordinary.. No flash or autofocus in camera.. Loudspeaker not so good.. But who needs all those.. U have wifi,2 mp but good camera,3g,os 9.1,... Above all these... 3 excellent things.. 1.music 2.music 3.music plug in de headphones, turn on de music, u forget de whole world... better than other nseries,sony walkman series,even ipod... Words r not enough.. Listen once to know bout.. De model has been stopped.. Damn nokia..But i pity on music enthusiasts who haven't got one yet;)

I got N91 and use it very carefully for two to three months and bought another phone for rough use, after two three months i again switched onn the N91 its buttons kept no working till now. these buttons include 1-Vloume up 2- Left and Right button of joy stick 3- Letf and right buttons of in and out. this is one of my favorite phones that I had! looks really good! the hard disk is a bit sensitive but if you know how to use the Hdd properly you will not encounter any problem with it, try to search the net on the proper way of using HDD, like for example do not save your messages on the HDD because it is not equipped to handle datas like that only multimedia files (pictures,music,videos), when saving your music files do not place them in a single folder instead, make a lists of folder with a maximum of 50 songs per folder (its just like using defragmentation on your pc, that's the concept of 50 songs per folder) and when setting out an mp3 ringtone (if you are currently using it) save it in the phone memory instead of the HDD so that the access in your HDD will me minimize. remember that your HDD spins everytime you use it, it is really really sensitive so you you should take extra precaution with it.
