Palm Palm - User Reviews

  • Hi, I've just bought it; as you may see, has android 8.1. Can I add Greek language? Thank you.

  • there is no way this 'phone will last a day without recharging, unless you're keeping it SWITCHED OFF; in fact, you will likely have to recharge it SEVERAL TIMES OVER in the course of any 24 hour period, which leads me to expect with its non-replaceable battery that you'll end up with an even more useless telephone than it already is after you've cycled through the charge/discharge enough times and the battery starts to lose its efficiency. sending a handful of text messages and making a short telephone call (let's say of around 10 minutes duration) is going to knock the stuffing out of your battery charge, so if you're operating the telephone for a full day (even if only considering day-time hours) you are likely to have to recharge it at least once, if not twice.

  • Yes

  • No you cannot put in the unlocked ROM. They do not have unlocked bootloader, so no way to flash any custom binary. I use it the same way, i have disabled all the apps from Verizon and installed lighter versions most task from app store. Like Uber lite, Firefox Lite, Gallery Go etc.

  • the battery life is absolutely appalling.. I'll give you an example: - I can turn it on, and turn it off, and it'll be showing me a loss of 5% power! (I'm not exaggerating, this has happened to me on more than one occasion) this is hopelessly flawed in design, and I'll be sending mine back on my return to the US (I picked up one of the unlocked versions for stand-alone use when they started shipping them in August) as it is about as useful as a chocolate fire-guard if you're looking for a stand alone 'mobile' 'phone - this model is going to need tethering to a power supply if you do any amount of anything on it. FYI - the above happened to me with NOTHING syncing in the background, I had the display set to 16% brightness, and I so desperately wanted the bloody thing to replace my Sony Xperia Mini Pro. I contacted the company asking why they didn't make it thicker with more battery inside it, and they alluded to design difficulties with Li-ion battery thickness and fires. No matter what (because other manufacturers seem to get bigger batteries in their units) even a split shell which incorporates more battery power with a fan in the middle (like the smallerDell XPS notebooks) would give more utility than something that's water resistant and dust resistant & so light you can barely feel it in your pocket but that can't last more than a few hours if you're actually using the bloody thing. an utter waste of money if you ask me, and for $350 USD a huge white elephant in the smaller mobile 'phone market * and the operating controls are pretty sketchy too.. IF ANYONE is reading this from Palm, for god's sake get someone with decent UX experience & design on your team; with a few changes this 'phone could be what everyone wants - what a wasted opportunity.

  • How is the battery life ? You can use the palm phone one day without charging ?

  • my opnion of what could change: *bigger battery (around 1800 to 2900 mAh using Li-Po and increasing the size to 4" max) and removable *headphone jack *volume buttons *14nm CPU (maybe GPU as well) *2GBs of RAM (i wouldn't use much more than that, unless Android eats too much of it)

  • The same here. US versions are not the best choice. Locked Bootloader, No 4G. I have tried every root solution without any success. This phone just flys below the radar of any capable persons..

  • I bought one on eBay, verzion sidekick model. Nonetheless I use it as a standalone phone in Korea(KT network). I'm curious if I can swap the rom with global version rom. I do like the phone, but not the useless verizon softwares(myverizon, message+ etc.). Is there anyone who can help me ?

  • I bought one, and alarmingly saw something similar on the unit I've got.. I'm sending it back and am extremely concerned all of them are like this - which would negate trying to use it as a mobile at all, since you're going to have to have it plugged into the wall or your computer the entire time you're using it. Battery life is just nonsensical. What a horror of a design flaw.

  • Refurb, US$100 - maybe forget the phone and use it as an MP3/streaming music device?

  • Can’t help this: Say “toy phone toy phone toy phone” 3 times fast. I can’t take it seriously, but want to play with one anyway. (Shrug). Only Verizon? And $350? Meh

  • greed

  • 300 eur in usa, 400eur in eu :-d

  • Waiting eagerly for the second version. Hope they come out with a full screen phone with same body size and a snapdragon 6 series

  • How the hell does it cost 300eur?!! O3O

  • I am using a Redmi 6A so clearly 6A

  • The idea is great. Execution has more negatives than I'd pay $350 for. If they had a more efficient and powerful processor, higher resolution OLED screen, bigger battery, and could switch between being a companion phone and a standalone, that would justify this price and a little more. For a cherry on top, I'd want it to be rooted fairly easy and expandable storage. All that should be more than manageable, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

  • Yes it is possible to change the launcher..

  • Can you change the launcher with palm phone?

  • yea :(

  • I really hoped mine would work with a usb c headphone adapter. But it is blocked by this crippled Verizon software on it. Here in Germany I use it with a O2 4G Sim and it works perfectly on 3G but it is never ever switching to 4G. Generally 4G should be more compatible all over the world. Again I suspect the software..

  • Can it be used by other gsm providers?

  • If only it had a headphone jack :(

  • Currently it is selling on eBay for $85. Since I followed this phone from day one, I had to grab one. It is really nice, but the software is a big pain. I tried things over ADB and different root solutions but no success yet. There is not even a thread on XDA. LineageOS would be a dream.

  • i had swallowed that it has no headphone jack even that the battery life is shit due to the 28 nm processor, the tiny battery and no induction charging. But 562€ (incl 24 month 2gb plan)?????? wtf is wrong with you?? The absolute maximum i'd pay for this is 280€

  • I would've bought this if it had a headphone jack. Sadly that's a huge dealbreaker for me.

  • COME ON PALM!! If you want it to sell then: About same size. Bigger battery. Better processor (helps a lot with the battery life) and a REASONABLE PRICE. The price for even as suggested model 220 to 260 euros MAX!!! THEN IT WOULD SELL!!!!! Way too many huge slabs on the market.

  • Battery: Palm uses a USB-C charger that is compatible with any standard outlet for all-day use. With Life Mode on, Palm gets an all-day battery life with typical use: Talk-Time: Up to 3 hours and 20 minutes GPS Workout: Up to 4 hours and 45 minutes Music LTE Streaming: Up to 5 hours and 30 minutes Music Wi-Fi Streaming: Up to 6 hours Local Music Playback: Up to 9 hours and 30 minutes Music Over LTE + GPS Workout: Up to 3 hours outdoor workout with streaming audio, GPS, and LTE Standby Time: 3+ days Charge Time: 50% at 31 minutes, 100% at 68 minutes

  • Specs sound really nice, especially the small size and the Aluminum frame. Although +1mm thickness for more battery capacity as well as a 3.5mm audio jack would have been nice.. maybe with Palm v2 we will get "the perfect phone" ;)

  • Finally a small one, but I'll wait for prices to drop

  • If it delivered a better camera like from Sony I'm all in.

  • i love the design of this mobile but , have you noticed that in the video link you posted it has spent 4% battery in 4-5 minutes not doing any special? :(

  • 300 euros for this? Come on are they serious

  • It's so adorable! It even looks like a tiny S8!

  • I got mine at the Verizon store for $199. It was on sale They have 2 models, one is the compassion phone only the other a regular phone. I had to make my own SIM extraction tool. Basically a 5mm quilting needle where I clipped off the point and bent the end. Verizon doesn't want you swapping SIMs but it is unlocked and works

  • Where can you find this for only 199? Can you help me find a listing that isn't like $500?

  • They should make a Palm Pre 4!

  • Hi guys, if anyone of you is hesitant to buy this phone, worry not. This phone is unlocked to begin with. I have proof as I am using it here in the Philippines with no problems. All you need to do is improvise a sim tool like the one in the vid to get the sim tray out. And it's 199 now so you guys may want to go at ebay. That's where I bought mine.

  • Verizon has now launched this phone for $200, and it works on it's own, no secondary phone needed anymore. Pretty decent for that price if you're in the market for a real compact phone. It even has IP68 certification which you just can't find on any other phone in this price range.

  • where to buy it?

  • can someone tell me how many hours this plam's 800mAh phone can last on constant or off constant use??

  • For a 3.3" screen I would expect a lower screen resolution than 720p! Guess not!

  • Such a small, and inexpensive screen.. You'd think they could afford at least a 600 series QC chip set for $349 US, although the 435 may be a better option if you take into account the small battery.

  • Also at Vodafone Germany is available for 399Euro

  • Goddamnit, why can't they release that version in Europe..?

  • The fatal achilles' heel is the extremely weight. To make the phone light, let the battery life become so short. The weight should be controlled as from 80 grams to 105 grams for a 3.3" phones as phones 10 years ago. Sony Xperia Ray is a very successful product.

  • A version for Hong Kong will be released in a few days! With SIM card support!

  • I can not believe that the TCL only give 800 mAh battery for this phone. just like a joke. are u kiding me? Octo-core+ HD screen+ android 8.1 with 800 mAh battery ? even a 2G feature phone, a 2G candy bar keyboard phone, their battery capacity is bigger that this SHIT !!!! what are u thinking, TCL?

  • In the UK the Palm is only available from Vodafone (either contract or £350 PAYG).

  • The phone is a Dream a like small phones but how stupid is the marketing from this company a want to buy one in Swizerland no wher you can buy this phone in Europe . Stupid hope they finaly realize people want buy also in Europe

  • I love the size of this phone it's so cute

  • $300? lol

  • Why didn't they put a webos on this thing ?? Webos is open source therefor they can make android playstore work with webos too The same as blackberry should stick to bbos with their phones but also integrate playstore into their os The same concept as how Chinese phone manufacturers are using android but put their own playstore in instead of Google playstore

  • Something called the Energizer Power Max P20

  • Lol. Can u put a huge battery in a small container or place?

  • They should've made the screen 3,5" as in the original iPhone, I know a lot of people who consider it the most comfortable size. Also, for the price I'd expected amoled.

  • no headphone jack.. facepalm could have been the perfect phone for everyone who just needs a music player, phone, gps and in rare occasions to look something up on the internet. guess the battery won't last very long in idle anyway...

  • Can we play pubg game in this

  • i am with Kiyasuriin model please!

  • model please?

  • Lemme get this right : this is a phone for your phone??! Bubuhahaha! What are they sniffing over there at Palm? I bet this mini phone can be hacked just by looking at it :))

  • How about if I told you that the device your looking for actually exists... I was looking too for the perfect small phone... and I found it... 4GB RAM 64GB Storage 2000MAH battery 108 grams only Android 8.1 4G IP68 Certified! 3.5MM Headphone Jack 2.45Inch screen I am not making this up this actually exists my friend google

  • You just answered your own question.

  • i have no addiction, i just just need the smaller, the better phone, with current hw-sw. there are none. water proved? great. this size/weight is perfect. price is ok, if it works standalone and is sold unlocked/root possible, with pure android.

  • it have sim slot, after putting simcard, it worked, at least piece reviewed. its capable technically (why not, when some current phone watches, can do same thing - work standalone). its just sales strategy (shyty one huh!@#). is it available in alibaba, unlocked without operators idiotic strateGiess? it would be breakthrough.

  • I would buy this in a heartbeat if it didn't require pairing with another phone, like seriously how big of a fail is that? What's the point of releasing one of the only smartphones on the market if it still requires people to own a plus phone or a phablet??? Madness.

  • IF THIS WOULD WORK AS A PHONE with out connection it to A SECOND PHONE!!! I would consider it. Even with the hefty price. But if this would actually work as a phone and had a price of a phone of it's specs. (200 euros). I would buy it straight no questions asked. Tired of all the phones going way over 5 inch. This you can actually forget to your pocket and not feel the size of it.

  • Exactly, I'm thinking about getting this phone to get rid of my smartphone addiction when I first saw it just two hours ago lols. You can tell why i'm here. :)

  • It's funny how I read some of the comments from people who have no idea why the existence of this phone, typing them from their gigantic 6+ inch screens. The whole idea behind this device is to fight smartphone addiction, using your voice (Google Assistant) and giving you a device that's a phone PLUS added capabilities, not the other way around. It's a $350 phone, small screen, small footprint, which works for making calls, texts, and some sporadic social media usage. That's the kind of customer to which this device is intended.

  • Because they are greedy , this is not worth for money

  • Still the battery is small and the whole phone is small. I have no idea how people will work with phone like this??? They will barely see something on screen and even if they see its hard to type on a touchpad if the letter wuill be very tiny. I often hit many letters at once due to thick fingers.

  • lol, 350 buck for LESS feature phone? and it's not even a functional phone, it must be connected to your REAL phone. there's nothing unique about this thing at all

  • No,3.3''screen with 1300mah battery will not be a technology problem.Check with those phones produced 5 years ago.

  • Why should they go to hell when this device is actually something unique and great for a specific market unlike the hundreds of 6in iPhone-X-copy mediatek Oppo and Vivo phones.

  • The bezels are actually quite slim for a phone of this size. The iPhone 4 only has 54% stb-ratio whereas this has about 62%

  • Because The size of phone body is small

  • This phone looks like it could be simply used on our palms oh wait

  • 800 mAh and 3000 euro...

  • here i go realme 2 pro xd

  • The size of phone body is small. but why battery is small ,too?

  • This phone should be marketed as a standalone phone, sold together with a small and efficient power bank. Than it would be a success.

  • 800 mah battery???? For real ?? Come on PALM....

  • Well this phone its strange. Too small with too small battery and too big bezzels.

  • Which idiot take this shit , snapdragon 435 and 800mah battery not worth 150 euro , but cost is 300 euro lol they think people are idiot , go the hell palm

  • A nice accessory in the shirt pocket, for people who hate wrist-watches and a comfortable remote for the giant 7 inches phablet in the backpack ! The size of a Tamagochi, price of an Watch, Palmy will become the beloved accessory toy for everybody's pocket ! Eager to buy one for my mi max 3 !

  • Would buy one if only got at least 1200mah battery and a bit cheaper

  • Forget about screen size and battery, i think that makes this smartphone expensive and special because even though with the screen is small but it already has IP68 dust/water resistant, Android Oreo support and presence of the infrared face recognition.

  • welcome palm mobile because 3 sim card , memory card slot and 3.3 inch compact mobile. so many company indidused 6.5 inch 2 sim card.this mobile is not compact large screen daily battery charging. palm mobile is salve all problem . when its lanch in online. price. this phone is over track iphone we are want small screen and compact mobile. 3 sim card is very usefull

  • Small size is ok but 800 mah battery is a joke, abusing people.Really,800 mah and costs 300€?????????????? I hope Blackberry will produce small screen phones with Blackberry OS

  • There is obviously a demand for a phone like this with a simplified android OS and a smaller size but the price is far too high for how low spec the phone is and the fact you have to pair it with another phone just completely defeats the purpose for a lot of people...

  • I was so excited to buy this phone before. And now so disappointed because you cannot use this to replace your primary phone. This will be useless

  • That would be a negative on the SD cardslot, homies.

  • One more please! Put an ir blaster. And larger its battery 😥

  • no expensive. very people have been waiting for small smartphone. but the battery for this phone maybe frustrating...

  • Looks like the first smartphone, never too late to join the bandwagon.

  • For USD50.00 could be an option. But is TOO expensive now.

  • Too expensive

  • OMG, for the first time in years somebody launches an actual smartphone and it needs to be paired with a plus phone or phablet to work? >.>

  • Wish iPhone and Blackberry would capitalize on this.. get the iPod Touch LTE lol and if BlackBerry can see opportunity here and get a BlackBerry side Phone` Running BB10

  • small battery . good look .

  • This phone have a SIM card slot but doesn't support any physical SIM card which is odd. Actually you can buy it only on verizon, but a wider support might come early next year.

  • I want to ask, if the palm took sim card and if can make calls. Thank you.

  • This Phone is no longer rumored. Palm is back and announced this phone as the Palm (2018)

  • No Android phone like this... Pepito is lovely

  • What do you guys think about Unihertz's Jelly pro compare to this one then?

  • Price tag on the specifications is incorrect. Another article was released showing a price tag of $349

  • In this price tag and because fo 800mah battery we definitely deserve OLED display.

  • Reading it from gizmochina the price for it ~350 dollars is over kill for cpu of SD435 and a 800mAh battery. Add more 20g on the phone for battery so it be something 1600mAh at least and some newer cpu that is smaller like SD450 that is 14nm.

  • It has a 12MP single camera and a 8MP front camera. Indeed, it has a 3.3 inch screen. I used to love Palm, lets see what this thing is and if it can bring back at least a part of its former glory.

  • John Connor, come with me if you want to live.... lmao

  • this looks awesome! love where the camera is and how small it is :)

  • I'm hyped for this thing. Small phones forever!!!

  • 3.3" display with 720p? Maybe 4.3"?

  • 3 inch Galaxy Y but 1200 mah battery

  • Screen size ok ram rom ok processor ok and others ok but battery not ok should be 1500mAh at least

  • 2018

  • How if they will lessen the bezzels with a curve design just like s8. I hope they will make the battery larger and a water resistant with ir blaster. Lol overkill

  • It's not about the size, it's about the resolution. A 720p 3.3" screen is bound to eat way much more juice than a 480p 4.5" screen. That's why I think 720p is an overkill for such a small screen.

  • It is gonna be a small phone with 3.3 inch, but smaller phones with around the same size had 1500mah in the past already, so maybe it's gonna be 1800mah. Like the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, it has a 3.3 inch screen too and it has a 1500mah already.

  • it has 3.3 inch display so the battery will be just 800.

  • 8000 mAh in such a tiny body would overkill even the lenovo P2. XD so likely 800

  • Xperia mini 2011 had 1200mah battery, why in 2018 this device has only 800mah battery!!!

  • Adorable, but that battery size makes me worried.... O3O

  • Everything is fine, but 800mAh battery and 3.5mm Jack absence? Whom are they targeting? Kids, housewives or oldies?

  • Battery 800mah or 8000mah?

  • This looks really nice. Would love to see it get a widespread release.

  • nice spec!!! 3" screen!! SD 435!! 720p!!! 3GB ram!!! nice!!!

  • it will be available in european union?

  • I have no clue what is this but i agree with some comments, down, below... I would like to see new phone with descent specs these days but with 4 inch screen.

  • What year is this?!

  • plz 4" phone

  • I like this phone so far. A screensize 3.3 inch means it's gonna be very pocketable, and that's a great thing in these days with 6 inch phones being the norm. Looking forward to more of this phone.

  • It's A53, mate, A53 are known to be very battery friendly.

  • Octa-core = battery eater. Stupid design choice for a phone with that small a battery. Will be lucky to last an hour SOT.

  • Please. 4" and small bezels. PLZ.

  • What!? Octa-core? Auto buy!!!

  • If there is no 3.5mm jack then whats there to confirm for fm radio? :D FM Radio dont work without type-c converter to 3.5mm jack or just 3.5mm port on phone to be antenna for Radio. And well for 800mAh battery music player and video watching will drain it try in minutes :D

  • Keep waiting. By buying this phone you're supporting their decision to remove the jack. Protest against it instead.

  • Thats not the actual device pictured.

  • I would expect this phone to run in webos Why android ?? Judging from this display avatar It doesn’t look like android and instead it look like webos Who owns palm now ?? TLC ??

  • This has got to be the smallest phone of 2018 released.

  • Sadly, Palm has bent towards Apple's cult of "COURAGE" of removing the headphone jack.

  • It will have physical keyboard

  • Perfect, will get at least one. My party phone used to be Xperia Mini (3"), now it finally has a worthy successor.

  • Whipped out my old iPod Touch and it felt so cramped and that's a 3.5" inch screen. Wonder how it'll be for this thing depending on the width

  • It looks like it's from 2011!

  • It‘s not that big of a problem, just put them into the charging port. I‘ve been living with iPhone 7 since 2 months after release and it isn‘t as big of a problem as everyone makes it out.

  • The worst phone ever in my live up to date. I also hate this phone. 😡😤😠&#128574;👎

  • What a joke, like that's what the market need, and they kinda ruining the Palm name... At least give it a physical keyboard

  • Seriously bummed out by the lack of the JACK. I've been desperately looking for a smartphone this small for years, and this could have been the perfect option. Without the JACK, it's going to be a tough choice: bite the bullet or keep waiting?

  • ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh....i don't know what to say....it's like put specifications in the mixer and voila XD

  • Should has 3.5mm jack and atleast 1500mAh battery,it would be my dream phone.

  • Seriously man!!!

  • Answer: Despacito

  • That's GSMArena's fault to put the old Palm Pre series picture on the thumbnail... the first render itself (on the article and pictures section) could be far away from that.

  • Nice processor for a hundred euro phone. Heck, even Samsung just only slap a Spreadtrum dual core SoC for this price! XD

  • Massive bezels. O_o in that body you can fit 4 incher easily!

  • 800 mah battery with 3 GB RAM...How funny😀😀😀

  • Or some sort of s!ck job lol

  • That 800mAh battery must be some misunderstanding.

  • which would you choose: This or the 6a

  • Phone owners be like. What's your phone? Answers: Pepito LOL

  • First fan. Yay!

  • Want this phone to Popular and actual usable? - 4-inch screen 720p, SD450 2Gb ram, can record 1080p, ditch the selfie cam, have 1500mah battery, usb type c + jack - and make it THICC more than a cm

  • Buy one Pepito, get one Vergatario free! (while supplies last)

  • This is quite a reminiscing innovation, small phone with dense screen despite the small resolution of today's standard however, seriously? Only 800mAh battery is by no means qualify even the first Android came standard

  • Wow!! ancient phone from ancient company:-)
