Philips Savvy - User Reviews

  • I had it 19 years ago. After 4 years of use the battery still lasted for 4 days just like in the first day.

  • Owned this phone 17 years ago. My favorite feature was a voice assistant. Similar to Siri in modern IPhones but 12 years before apple copy paste it :-)))

  • Get a decent phone

  • How do you do???

  • It was very difficult but this post was send by this Philips Savvy phone!

  • This awful piece of prehistoric tech-turd was my wife's first mobile. If I'd have known what a pain in the arse it was to do anything remotely clever (like find a stored phone number or put a new contact in) before she first asked me to 'Do something with this, I don't understand how it works', I would have happily used it to beat myself to death with it. I can't believe Pillips had the gall to continue to make any other models after this one!

  • This was my first ever phone way back in 1999..... It was cool @ the time! Um, I'm a little surprised to see in previous blogs that; "The phone is very clever however I am unable to send a text yet.... "(June 2011). 😝😝😝

  • That classical song was from Mozart called turkish marsh.

  • Hi, there was a classical ring tones on it I think it begins with a T, would you be able to check what it is as want to down load to my new phone. Mant thanks

  • hello everybody . i still have my phillips savvy. it was my first phone and i stil have it stored in a kitchen cupboard. i was lucky to be able to choose my number. it happens to be my birthday. i must try it one day

  • It was my first cell phone too.. I was going to get the Nokia 5110 as my first phone, but couldn't afford it at the time, so I got the Philips.. miss that phone.

  • This was my first cellphone 12 years ago. I remember, when I was sending the sms, I've must wait 10 hours for report, haha ;D Good old times. Like everything else, right

  • Still got mine. C12 and C13. Have just put a new battery in one of them. Batteries and chargers are still available. A bit big and heavy, and I don't like the sticky-out bit (aerial), but they have served me well. I am now looking for a smaller basic phone to replace them. I'll probably pass them on then. The crucial thing for me was that I could see the writing on them. The only comparable phones now are the Doros.

  • My first phone... I liked it very much. A good phone for its time. Incredible what advanced phones are today!Who would have imagined in 2000 that technology will advance so much in 10-12 years. Everything seemed SF yesterday, you can see in stores today. :)

  • my brother used to have one back 12 years ago. but i remember them to be white, not yellow, golf green or black. good phone for its time. i however had a Panasonic G520 which was way cooler. lol

  • Was also my very first phone, loved it to bits

  • love this phone and still use it today. have the box etc and still going strong

  • had this one back in 2000... i kinda miss this phone, a lot of good and fond memories... wasn't user friendly especially if you're used to using nokia 5110 back then...

  • I miss this phone. It was my very first GSM phone. Was hip back then.

  • Call your network if u need to know the message centre number for SMS.

  • I got this phone in 2000 on my 16th birthday from my parents. I loved this phone with my whole heart and I was the coolest person in school with it. Wish I could get one of these again.

  • What phone are you using cos the saavy sure as graavy didn't have mp3 or internet

  • It is my little brother's first phone and I think that it is the best old phone and the most complicated phone in the same time!

  • I think the Philips "Savvy" phone is very clever but I have not yet been able to send text because when I try to send the message I am asked for the number of the message center and I do not know that. Can anyone help please?

  • This is my first phone.

  • is there any one that knows where i can get a charger for it? i love it so much but the charger for it is broken:(

  • going in to 2011 and i still have one of these and still use it. its my backup phone that i keep in the car :D

  • could anyone tell me where i could purchase its battery ... my phone is still working except for the battery ... i cant dispose it since its my very first phone ... i still would like to see it working.

  • ahm can i ask you one thing?? what is the source code of philips savvy??/ because i will program it and save it to my cell phone as an application and it is a part of my proposal in my subject, the mobile programming

  • My first phone too. This phone was paid 140 DM.

  • my first hand phone. come with all basic phone needed. Long stand by battery live. No problem at all until end of service.

  • This is good phone. I use it to go on the internet or listen mp3, at school. Best one, a little bit expencive!!

  • Was my very first phone as well, had it in black.. awesome phone in it's time

  • That was my first cell phone....Remembering that with tear in my eye.....I will never forget you....

  • the best akku (batery) ever

  • it was my first gsm phone:had it for 2 years:problem was its tiny screen

  • yeah,it's my vintage handset ever!haha, a game called Biorithym was so cool during my college days..geee! :)

  • yeahh... diz was also my 1st fone...luv it! reminisin d past... :)

  • OMG - come back to the future guys!!!!

  • This phone is really good and is very easy to use. I like the fun little game on it, but I do think that the screen is a bit too small.

  • this phone was top draw i mean look a the class and beauty of it this phone is the bobby charlton and george best of football long gone but never forgotten!!!

  • this phone is pimp daddy, i mean you aint cool unless you have this phone, i know i am cause i did have this phone back in the day..... i remember listening to the spice girls hanging out in the park with my totally awesome phone.... ahhhh memories :)

  • what were you all to pov to afford a decent phone?

  • huh, funny i had this phone, i believe my brother does as an ornament, however its red, or a maroon colour, that isnt listed? only in australia perhaps?

  • Wow,my first phone, thought i was so cool having this phone. The memories.

  • good phone

  • wow memories. had this phone for a good 9 years now i still use it. old mc donald has been the best ringtone ever.

  • dis 'n poes cool foon

  • I got one of these in about 2000 as my first mobile phone. The battery life was good, I agree the sonar ringtone was cool, and my sister had one too so we could send the little pictures to each other. I had mine about 2 years. Didn't really miss it that much when I upgraded to a 3330. Although the Nokia fell apart within months and I found myself using my sister's Savvy again for a while. Two years later, we charged up the savvy again and gave it to a younger sibiling to use. It's basic, it's old, but it's solid. Not many made like this anymore.

  • OMG This was my 1st phone in 98 when i 1st started college, well i had the black one. Was a brilliant phone ' the time even though many peopel had better ones. @ least the screen size compared to the erricsons of its age was a little bigger. I lost it twice and found it on both occasions. Overall phone was good whilst it lasted, and calls were quite clear also...

  • Oh, this is my very first phone! I love it before i bought a Nokia 5110. Too bad, my brother borrowed it and he was chased by a holdupper. :(

  • Very good phone for his time,it was my first phone,i bought it in 2001 and it workts for 2 years, now i have it,but not working.

  • I don,t know what to say about this phone coz its say like the "pyramids" my dad bought this phone say (12)twelve years ago and today am using it too as my back up phone, its battery is still OK though it has got no much to todays walkmans and pda's its still the best in networking and standby time I think off passing it on to my son now its agreat phone built to stay or what do you say?

  • i remember getting this back in 97, cos me a tuppence it did, alhough you could by a car for 50 pounds back then.

  • my mom and dad each had a black version of this phone. since i really didn't know that cell phones actually could have built in games back then, it was this oldie birthday-luck application-thingy that i often turned to and i LOVED it. i would've gotten my dad's if only it didn't get lost in the taxi he was riding. (after that, though, he became an expert in getting back phones--his nokia 3310 got lost in the blue THREE TIMES after that with people he didn't know but he actually managed to get it back!) Boooooo. :( I have a K700i now anyway and that's much better than this!!!(although i had to go through my mom's 3310, a 3530, and so on, so forth before i actually got it)

  • I'm using my N93 now and I'm in the Blackburn Library. This guy is sittin next to me with this phone except that it's a black colour. I can't believe it that he's put his phone next to mine! Hasn't this guy heard of Modern Technology or even 3G, 3MP cameras etc....? This guy is whack man, I'm gonna explain everything to him about Modern Tecnology! I pity him, I do!

  • omg wow i cnt believe it they still sell thesse phones thier likes bricks mi 1st eva phone =] lol thier soooooooooooooo old

  • Yep, we sure are switching off the SIM cards that are in most of these phones, but not all.Go to an 02 shop and we can check the phone number. If it is one thats being turned off, we will do you a new SIM,free of charge, that will work fine in the Savvy and you can have your old number and any calltime you already have as well.It just takes 2 weeks to transfer over.

  • Hi - I work at O2 (formerly BT Cellnet) - we still have a few of these phones on our network -they must be indestructible!!! We are disconnecting all of these phones on our network on 31st June because most of them use an older technology ... just thought I'd post that 4 u people

  • wow! i cant believe ill be seeing my 1st ever phone for more than 35th times of changing models. woohoo!

  • to change language on this phone, press and hold 0 and it brings language menu up for you to then choose which you prefer

  • I tried to pack this up because i sold it on ebay for 0.01 but the packaging ripped due to its weight. But good things about the phone are Good Paperweight Breaks your neck if u have it on a neckstrap Weightlifting No need 2 carry on

  • Well that's strange. In my first posting the word ringtone was highlighted and underlined - a link, but when I posted a second time commenting on that it's disappeared - maybe it'll come back when I'm not looking?

  • Great little phone with a good battery that lasts several days before needing a charge. I've owned my Virgin Savvy since 2000, it makes and receives calls which is all I want from a phone - and what other phone can do 'Old Macdonald Had A Farm' as a fairly unique ringtone, in amongst all those samey Nokias?

  • If anybody has a problem with a savvy, then possibly they misused it or bought the phone damaged. I bought mine in year 2000 and todate its still going strong.... I just love it !

  • If you have this phone and are looking to upgrade Tesco Mobile have a good range starting at 9.99 for the Motorola c155.

  • It is functioning well, that is with my philips savvy I can enjoy a network in remote areas where the network has problems.but the only problems with my hand set is that it has only one language which I'm not familiar with, I have tried to learn it by my self and I just managed to made and receiving call, sending and receiving sms

  • Want to know where i can get manual for philips savy like the one in the picture is a yellow one as gave it to my brother and didnt have any instructions with it

  • anyone know where I can download the savvy ringtones such as Sonar for my p800?

  • Good: - battery life - sonar ring tone - very, very cheap (say

  • Sazzys are so shit i cant believe anyone would actualy like them. They are dodgy as anything, yes the battery might stay charged for a while but then it die in a yr or 2. My mum had a Savvy for no more then 3 yrs and now it totally dead and when it does decide to turn on u cant call any 1 and no 1 can call you. SAVVYs are the most featurless pieces of shit eva made

  • Hi, I had the Savvy phone once. I was wondering if ne1 knew what the full name of the 'Dream' ringtone was??? Dont u think its cool??? I now have a Samsung e700 and all the tones on it are s**t. If you know plz email Thanx

  • The best thing about this phone was the 'sonar' ringtone - very cool indeed. Seem to remember the backlight was a bit dim....

  • Good phone but the display is grafic not alphanumeric. It has 23 languages. I like it.

  • I brought one for myself and my mum in 1999 and they have both been going great guns since then. I recently 'upgraded' (I use the term loosly) and brought my mum another 'upgrade' too - I had to prize this phone from her hands so she'd use the new one then she told me she wanted her Savvy back!! Both she and I have not EVER had any problems with either the phone functions or battery lives and the only reason I brought her a new one was that the phone would dial numbers with the number-lock on (not good for handbags!!) alas we should have stuck with the Savvy!!! - our new phones are ericssons and the signal strength on both of them is utter crap. If you've got a Savvy - stick with it - it may not have all the bells and whistles but at least you can hear people and know that your battery will last for more than half an hour!!! I miss my Savvy !! (*sob*)

  • mu 1at fone its exerlant betta than color screen!

  • the phillips savvy is just right and any one who thinks its shitty is dum.why can't i get ringers

  • Philips Savvy is one of the best phone in the world.

  • there the shitty phone ive ever used, thank god i have a nokia 8850 and a 9110

  • its basic but it works for me that is you might be different

  • its basic but it works for me that is you might be different

  • The first phone I got and I hate it. The small screen is annoying and the buttons stick. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
