You need to flash it with the the English version of the OS.Scour the internet to find the english verison of the OS and flash it.I did this 5 yrs ago and was succeesful.It is possible and it was done!! You may find help in the XDA developers forum. All the best.

To change the language you would have to get that specific ROM and flash your device with it. I'd first try contacting your service provider if it's a branded phone.

for all you folks that want to change the language, you have to reinstall Windows (well, before you have to get yourself a "Windows English ROM" (WWE ROM). There are plenty around, and you can install Windows Mobile 6 and even 6.5 instead of version 5, which is highly recommended. You can find info on all this stuff on "XDA-DEVELOPERS" forum, there's an exclusive section for this device. hope it helps. --

hey antonio I replaced myself the screen on my HTC/3600, the next model of qTEK S200 and it was quite easy. I bought it in a hongkonese website and got delivered to Spain in only 3 days. If you are interested the website is www.cnn.cn. They offer both "only screen" (very cheap, around 10�) or screen+touch area (circa 40�). I recommend you the latter, as installation is a matter of 10 minutes. You can find excellent guides on xda-developers website.

I had to do the alignment of the screen stuff as the PDS asked me, but afterwards, when my cell went to password screen, the keys werent right, is like 7 presses 3 and 5 pressed 8 and other keys are simply not pressing, after a few tries it bringed me to a screen asking me to copy 6 numbers / letters and still, in the small keyboard on the screen, is not writing all the letters and numbers so I'm not able to use my phone. Can anybody HEEEEEELP???!!!

I have read most opinions here about this device and in most cases i dont agree. This device costs 400 US$ in Iran. For 400 $'s you cant even get a decent Nokia. This is a windows mobile phone and i think its the cheapest in the market, so dont anybody expect it to be perfect. You want a perfect phone spend +800 and you get everything in one pack.

My company gave me this S200 for free, as I am an AA customer, thou the list price was USD$890. This Pocket PC totally disappointed me for several reasons: Poor processor (I-Mate Jam has a better 400mhz), severely sluggish, and the most important of all the cons: very bad overall quality. Touch screen is terrible, I have to recalibrate it every day. The speaker stopped working after 6 months of use, so I have no sounds at all (including rings or music) 3 people I know had the same kind of problems.

this is stupid phone. omap 850 chip should be beter at 195 mhz than x-scale 416 mhz if they've just put another arm core instad 160mhz dps core(totaly uncompatibile with wm system, only for gsm and audio) or make them to work together, and now it is to slow, just 60fps on atomic cannon, 589 score on vsbenchmark2006 and so on...

im buy s200 1 year a go,with out garanty in iran 400$ and now its 500$ :)) this phone is good,and i no have a problem with it.but the speaker sound is to low but in this 1 year never stop it,i dont have a broblem with LCD but i have a LCD protection on it.in this 1 year only 1 time im hard rest my s200.my s200 is 3 time Drop on ground but its never have problem.i have a meny program instaled on my device but only on program cant work properly with s 200 its shape service for messanger connecting,camera???dont forget its PPC and they dont have good camera,in sunlight u dont have problem but in night i think u never can capcuter the pic.if u use GPRS connectin for internet 1 day u can play with this phone with out battry charging,and u know if my phone need LCD i can replace it only in 1 hour in tehran with 120$ in mobile center.s200 s wifi is good and working good.my ringtone is mp3,i have a ansering machine,bluetooth is good and i have a DrYar Program and can recive my file and save in memory card,i have 2 gig sd memory.if i have a money buy HTC toch crouse,i love it...

Today it might look a little bit outdated but you can get it really cheap. And it has all the basic things you need. The main problem is slow processor (use OmapClock overclocker for Skype!) and weak speaker.

Hi everyone I've a little problem with my Qtek S200. The other day,when i ran out of battry charge and my S200 turned off, after connecting to the power for recharge,the phone stpes for the phone lock that i had set before and asked for password and guess what !!! it doesn't reply to my password. I know the only way is to make a hard reset and return to factory defaults but i will lose all my data including my contact which are really important for me ... Van anyone please help me. I have this phone over a year now. If u buy it because you need a pohone thingy - you are wrong. This is PDA with phone feature. Simplest nokia or even sagem has at least 3x more phone features than qtek. I use it mainly because i need outlook on the fly, and just to make phone calls. Camera is shitty if shaken and in the dark. And some info for gps lovers - i use it with pretec gps BT module - works GREAT!!! And for sw i use iGO 2007 - also perfect. Nice bundle of pda and phone for not so bad price. BTW - if u wanna use skype - be sure to download "SLOWER CPU VERSION" because qtek has 198MHz CPU. I use a lot wireless access - it's nice to see some blogs or news while in bed ... It is a must for computer geeks and techies but for someone who wants to send sms, use it just like a phone - no!

Hummm!.. Ive read out most of comments and finally have to say some solutions and advices. I like my s200 PDA after a week but i dont advise it.cause i love to challenge with phone..and thats it : S200 full of horrible problems. ---------------------------------- 1.First you have to give up some shortcut-key benefits to speed your accessibility to main functions. i mean its better to specify [Comm Hot-key] ---> [ Today ] [Hold Comm Hot-key] ---> [ File-Manager] Path to do: Start>Settings>Buttons 2.To resolve Ringing malfunction with .MP3 files,note you should place your mp3 files in My Documents or My Documnets\My Ringtones and then be sure that those MP3 extentions MUST NOT! be specified with 3rd-party programs like (Mp3 Players or PocketMusic,..) If its happened to your registry,you should install (My Extentions) program to return its default situation..or edit and Change registry manualy. 3.I prefered to remove big HTC-clock from screen,cause it decreases phone speed extremly. 4.Dont install untrusted programs that sits in your boot and startup level.it could slow down boot or even interrupt it forever. 5. for (Hard-Reset) you have many ways to go. A:Holding [Camera]+[Comm]+[Soft Reset] all together. B:Holding [Camera]+[Comm]+[Power Button] C:Holding [Camera]+[Comm]+Pluging USB Cable 6.for Speaker problem i guess im too young to experience with 1week old phone. ;-) 7.Camera is wholy god-damned reatard.too SLOW at dark! and i dont suppose that could be any solution around. 8.Language changing unless its featured original languages cause bad effects on regular woking of phone!!! to Marko MNE: No, there is no way to move contacts to the memory card.However you could backup your PIM info( including Cotacts ) to your memory stick. You have to use Sprite or SPB backup. The nice part about both of these software is they create an excutable file u can simply run to have your info back.

Don't make a mistake and buy this cellphone if you really want to keep it. The speaker won't work after some time. (there are a way to fix it instead of replaceing it though). the cover(color of the body) will be gone after some time (mine after 1 year there are some white spots on the body). and the screen is toooo sensitive... be careful with it...

Qtek S200 is capable to connect your BT GPS receiver.

It is the one of the best PDA only in theory but the worst ever in practice. It has millions of problems with the Destinator software, I have experienced many software and hardware faults (I have send it four times back for service). It is very very slow (start-up and processing) and it can crash unexpectedly withough any reason at all. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody unless to those that they are looking for serious troubles and risks.

Can�t get the bluetooth to work properly with my GPS (Garmin), nor some Nokia headsets. Software goes funny, and its unacceptable that QTek doesnt provide software upgrades and corrections. the pens are expensive and hard to get. I won�t be buying Qtek/HTTC again. an expensive mistake.

for what u need the Qtek S200 cd? there is nothing in it. you have an active sync 4.2 software for windows synchronisation ...that u can get in net freely ..just search for Active sync in net ... any help me...mail me..

To download Skype simply go to the Skype homepage (www.skype.com?) and download the Windows Mobile version. It will automatically install to your S200.

This is my alltime favourite phone. I got it almost a year ago. I use everything; the mp3, windows applications, as a wireless Edge modem, email, camera and yes also as a phone. Only the camera could be better. For the rest it's perfect. Way ahead of the iphone. Recommend it to everyone. AV.

I'm also very disappointed with my QTEK S200. It simply stopped working (black screen) after 2 months. I got it replaced after waiting for 6 weeks (from the technical service in Spain). But now the speaker of the new one does not work well. I suppose I will have to wait for 6 weeks again until I get it repaired or replaced. It seems that many others have had similar problems (just search "qtek s200 speaker problem" in google). I'm even thinking to try to repair the speaker myself, even if I loose the warranty... This is a disaster, I'm feeling like if I had thrown away 450 eur. I simply recommend you NOT TO BUY A QTEK S200, you are very likely to have problems! It would be a wonderful PPC... if it just worked! IMHO :(

i have this phone in spain really i have 2 the first one stop sound and vodafone change to me its in warranty the second they give me stopped too i liberalize and losse warranty then i read a web sayin its a commun problem for s220 i call to service reapair and they told me no warranty for this and two monts to wait for phone repair back. i change the speaker for other from a sagem end of the problem and now this sound very much great than the original poor speaker believe me its a great phone but speaker is very very bad and they know by this they say is no warranty. if u can get back your money if its so late be ready to change the speaker but never by original. if u are in gran canaria canary island i have a service repair its a little complicate to replace speaker and have to modification the cover but external u cant apreciate nothing now my phone sound really like a bass not poor like original excuse me english Victor Elvira Thanks

This phone is great except the service! I bought Qtek S200, in Sep 2006, and the speakers went dumb like many others! I sent the phone for repair at HTC, UK (http://service.htceurope.com), after receiving the green signal, that the phone is warratied! After 9 days, I received a bill for �48.50, saying HTC do not have the warranty for the supplied product, even though they said it is under the warratied period! Now, to get back the phone without repair, I have to pay them �31!!! It�s not a service, rather its cheating and harassment!! I am going to the consumer court to protect my consumer rights!

Hello, I have had my s200 for a month now and I have a problem. About two weeks ago my speaker stopped working. My device no longer rings (only vibrates) and speaker phone option is now useless. hi all , i have got a problem. I used to use mp3 files as ring tones in my Qtek S200.Now the same files when i setting it as ring tone , they are not getting played as ring tone.The phone is not taking it as the ring tone file .Instead each time i set the ring tone a mp3 song , it sets back to windows default.And moreover previuosly , when i copy a song to the mobile folder ,automatically it gets associated with windows media player format,now it is showing me as a no format file.It is not showing associated with any software.I installed some mpeg players ,since then i observed this.Now i have removed them .Even then , i cant use the mp3 songs as my ring tones. please give me some suggestion...u can write to me @ [email protected]

I have got the phone for months now and I love it but the headset is no good. I shorted out the left speaker on it and the same happened to the replacement, just today. Hi Desmond! Got back from Zurich a month ago. Wanted to buy a S200 over there but all were in German... So I waited to get back home (Montreal) and bought one here. Very hard to find, took me 2 weeks and only found one place in Canada over the net. I was told back in Zurich that you have to go to the Microsoft web site to download the package in your desired language and install it. Takes too much memory to have various languages packages on the device so you have to re-install something. Do not know where to get it however. You might want to try this link Best of luck!

To use your own notification sound for the s200, you have to use a .wav file and place it in the windows folder on the phone. And by the way you need not put your mp3's in the rintone folder to use it as a ring tone. Just put it on your storage card but outside of all sub-folders.

To the Guy with the bluetooth sycronization problem. yes it does work on the s200. I am using it now. Here is how to do it for windows XP. 1.disconnect your phone from your pc if it is connected. 2. Find the bluetooth icon in the windows control panel and open it. 3. Under the device tab if you see your phone delete it. 4.under the Options tap check the turn discover on box. The other 3 should already be checked. 5.go to the COM Ports tap and click add. 6.select Incoming (divice initiates the connection ) and click ok. 7. Look at the the com port # given in the table. And write it down. 8. Click ok and close the bluetooth devices window. 9.right click the ActiveSync icon on Your system tray and click on connection settings. 10.check the allow connections to one of the following check box. And in the drop down right below it pick the same com port as the one you had written down. 11. Click ok to close the connection settings window 12. Open activeSync on your phone. (i made a short cut to it in my start menu.) 13. Click menu and click on connect via bluetooth. 14. You mite be asked to make a bluetooth partnership on your phone. Click yes. 15.click new partnership on your phone. Then click your pc from the list when you see it. 16. Then click next. 17. Enter a pass key on your phone. Click the bluetooth icon on your pc and enter the same pass key. 18. Click next and finnish on your pc and when asked do the same on your phone. 19. Now it is set to setup to use activeSync via bluetooth. 20. To use it. open activeSync on your phone. Click menu and click connect via bluetooth. That should get you on.

I succeeded in making file transfer via Bluetooth between Qtek S200 and PC. But could not syncronile the Outlook 2003 contacts, tasks, calender, e-mails information via Bluetooth and Microsoft Activesync 4.2. Can anyone help me? Or does anyone know MS Activesync 4.2 really supports Bluetooth sycronization? It writes so in manual but is it true? :))

I have had this phone for almost 3 months now. After having the Nokia N72 and the HP 6828 I have came to the conclusion that this device is the best. I had my handful of problems with the HP and a little less problems with the Nokia, but this PDA pleased me most. I am able to go 3-4 days without the battery dying. I connect to the net through wifi and works pretty well. My HP used to freeze when I browsed the net, but no freezing with this phone. My only complain is that the camera isnt the best.

It has been nice to me for a whole week! But, while trying to install new language software, I experienced some problems which led me to a hard reset procedure; according to the manual I have to press CAMERA and COMM MANAGER buttons simultaneously while I press the RESET button with the stylus. Unfortunately, after the message "Press Send to restore factory default or press other key to quit" I find no "Send" option to choose and pressing any key has no possitive effect. Anyone can explain me what to do? Is there a different way to set my device back to factory default settings? I have even lost the connection of the Microsoft ActiveSync program.. Thanks in advance!

Hi, this is my 2nd post, now after 1 month with my S200 this are my opinions: - Hands free is not the best, it works as if it was half duplex or has echo cancellation software problem. When you speak at same time remote caller you might experience audio cuts. You can solve this by not speaking when the other person does or by using an alternative Bluetooth hands free system. This problem also affects qtek 9100.(probably a software fix can fix this?); - Audio (for phone use not MP3) is not bad but it could be better (my 6310i is better); - Qtek support is not the best... I keep looking for software updates (for an audio fix!) and nothing, I think it�s easy with iJAM; I've found this web site but I'm not sure...warranty... - LCD is very good, but for night use even the lowest level is too bright. (Software fix?); - Battery now lasts for 4 days, even with a 1GB SD; - I'm now using a Bluetooth GPS with navigation software on S200 and it works 100%; And yes it still is a great all in one device.

hi all, i got mine about a month back.everything seems to be fine except for the display which sometimes develops some distortions like ghost lines where images and videos have a strange reflection and the display generally has this strange reflection.this does go away after a few hours .is there any fix for this as its really irritating.

I just got mine today and i have to say i am very disappointed. the audio quality is horrible when talking, the os crashes easily, the camera doesnt have flash, the speaker is one of the worst i have seen in a phone, with it the hands free is a nighmare. Hi All, Got mine a few months back, I am in love with this device. Yes you can go online with the device either with WiFi or with Edge. I have been listening to podcasts en watching NASA TV with it. Love IT!!! Hi resolution Video is a problem though, I guess due to slow speed, any video above 150kbit will be jerky. Tough luck on that. Anyway Qtek S200 is a cool, stable device, and with a stereo bluethooth headphone, you'll love it the more.

I bought Qtek S200 a month ago and have been unable to introduce my own notification sounds for sms & mms. For incoming calls, I found I could copy my own ring tones to the windows/rings folder but not for sms & mms. Any tips on introducing personal notification sounds for sms and mms for the QtekS200 will be most welcomed? Got mine a few days ago, comments: - Very good screen - Very good size - Contrary to other comments S200 plastics are good. I got the chance to compare with 9100 plastics, and they seam less robust than S200. - battery goes a little faster than I expected but its to soon since I'm going thru learning days, trying new software, so it is not normal usage (currently lasts 3 to 3,5 days). A note here: if the original 1200mA is not enough I read somewhere of a 2400mA battery! - Very good photos on daylight. Not so good for night shooting (blurred at low light) since there is no flash or led. Not a big problem, since night shooting with this devices is usually a challenge... - Front buttons could be bigger and/or better distributed (spaced) from centre round button. Sometimes it happens to press accidentally more than one button at time. - I got a non English version (in this case Portuguese) and it did not came with Letter Recognizer (same for other langs other than English?). It is not a must since it�s possible to add (download) it later... but don�t expect own lang symbols. - And yes 802.11g is fully supported by this device. At the end S200 is a great phone.

I tough it would be in English�So I m having very hard time to figure out how it works I do know the basic. I forgot to charge the ph since last 6days and the battery is totally dead. I put the phone In charger and try to turn it on after 5 hrs it didn�t work.. so I tough let me put it over night so I put it again in charger for 12hrs its still not turning on. I do not speak German so its hard to find out if their is any special way to turn the phone on after the battery is totally dead.

Other than design, for upgraders the S200 y really a "fiasco". Slow, unstable, incompatible with many apps... Of course I'm "coming" from an Imate JAM (S100) so .... For those making a desition, if none of the specs differentiating the S200 from the S100 is a must, you will be gratefull to save money and time buying an S100. As soon as I got my JAM/S100 from repair (I dropped it), I sold my two weeks old S200... loosing 120� in the way. :-((

@ luke I have i-mate Jamin, which is the same, so here goes... It has "handwriting recognition software"...but i'm sure there are limitations to how ugly your letters are. My handwriting is bad, so I just use the pop-up keypad. Some features I use: When done with a call or any feature: press the (ok) button, untill you are back to your "Today" screen, then press the power button once to switch the screen off. tip: Charge at the office, by leaving connected with usb cable- it charges that way, no need for extra charger...NICE!!!! For skype, there is a setting in your wifi Settings:: Power settings that you can adjust the wifi card for Best Performance or Best Battery. If you set it to best performance and don't walk around, skype will work ok. Skype still needs to come up with some lighter software for the phone. Overall, this is a great phone!

I have a S200 for 3 months and skype doesn�t work very well. It works better if you make a soft reset because the resources are more available, but it isn't the ideal smartphone for using Skype. Maybe Skype will release a less exigent version of Skype. I hope so. Thanks for your posts :)

WOW!!! This really happened! I had my S200 in my bag and it started ringing. Just as I pulled it out of the bag, it slipped out of my hand and right into a large glass of cold water that I was served. Needless to say, the phone shorted and died upon entry into the glass. I quickly took the S200 out of the water and opened it. I took out the battery, SIM card and the 1GB SD card. All was lost... NOT! I took the device and shook it out and then put it outside in the shaded heat of the day. 2 hours later I put the S200 back together and did a full reset. I then connected it to ActiveSync and the device woke up and reset fully. I don't think I need to describe my adulation and wonder that the device survived completely. Qtek rules!

Voice recording, Skype, text size... You can make voice notes using the notes function. You can also add voice IDs to the voice-dialing services. The S200 supports Skype calls but I recommend that you only use Skype via Wi-Fi and not EDGE/GPRS. You can adjust the text size on the display via the Screen function in Settings/System/Screen.

I have a Qtek S200 for almost 3 weeks. It is NOT slow as I�ve just read in the review. I�ve come from a 624 mhz X50v and I can say sometimes the Qtek is even faster than the Axim ! For those want lightnning speed , they maybe get somehow frustrated . But I had an Eten previously and the Qtek is as fast as the Eten. A great device ! Looks great ! Well built , clean design , great display and camera . STABLE !!! 3 WEEKS , NO RESET ! AMAZING !

skype will work, but really slow and not always. note that the better windows mobile 5.0 core, will have the less effects on the s200 comparing with the previous 415mhz of the s100. so do not compare 195mhz of the s200 with the 415mhz of the s200; but i'm sure you can find other that skype solutions running good.

yes you can use your 3G sim, but only if the provider has the normal fandwith of GSM the your SIM works. GReeZ

Ahmed, you will be able to use your 3g sim in the Qtek S200 but you will not be able to use 3g Services on this Qtek as it's not 3g compatible. If you would like to use 3g Services on a Qtek, go for the Qtek 9000. Hope this helps you, regards!

the wihite screen shd be some theme wrong installation or something ..u can give a soft reset to ur mobile from a hole in the down ..it will set to facotry defaults .....chk tht.. yes u can set mp3 as ur ringstones /.. goto phone-> menu-> options u get all the opions of mp3 songs ..which all r there in ur mobile ...just set as u wish... and u can download hell lot of applications from the qtek site

I will post my review in the next few days/ weeks ^_^ One thing that still puzzles me. HTC actually has 4 manuf. that uses the same model. I-mate Jamin, Qtek S200, O2 Neo, and Dopod 818 pro. Why is the Dopod 818 and 02 Neo the most expensive ones and the Qtek S200 the cheapest of all? Is it just the button?

for those questions posted i-mate or jammin. well the qteks200 same exact thing as jamin,just different name. i had both the jamin is very bulky.its like a mini laptop. does about the same things. the jamin does not haev push e-mail for those who use blackberry or a push e-mail client. I use a 4gig memory stick works fine. no problems with qtek s200 from a u.s user on cingular. and the other question about the processor being slowed down. some times u have to go to settings system tab memory running programs tap on the program you was using example. windows media that u may not be using anymore. calender explorer. close it out. so ur pda can process a lil faster

I bought this phone last week .I live in NY,United States.Using it on cingular network.This is a great phone ,no bugs in it.the 5 buttons is easy to get around in the phone.only time u need to really touch the screen is to type of the virtual keyboard. Battery life is good. Wifi b/g signal great edge on it runs a lil under dsl speed loading up pages.(still great) the signal is way way better than SE p910 signal in ny. I mean i was getting good signal in basements that I could never get a signal.Sometimes the signal to strong which is a plus. Pop3 e-mail is good retrives e-mail every min if u have it set. It has push e-mail for those who was using blackberry e-mail 4 gig stick windows mobile is great on it ,no bugs. alot of people said that the phone shuts off on them.They gotta go to there settings and set the battery settings. overall i like this phone and th size is smaller than a p910. great phone. I got tired of waiting on the p990 and don't think i want it anymore. I prefer windows mobile than the symbian base SE use.they have good phones but this a great phone. i got it for $600 in nyc for those in the city area . oh yea 2 mega pixel camera just no flash ,but still the camera settings are way better than other phones.

Q-tek delivers some good devices, the only thing they lack is a good support division. If you have a problem with your Q-tek it seems as if Q-tek doesn't exist. It would be nice to have a national Helpdesk, service centre so that if you have any questions or are looking for some settings or a rom update, they'll be there to help..

the memory is perfect on the phone you can add a 4GB SD card yourself for $150USD, if they put 4GB internally it would make the unit a rip off, what they need to do is add GPS, VGA screen, a slightly faster dual core cpu like 300MHz, and self destruct option

It is the same as Dopod 818 Pro. It's a good PDA by the price. It has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g (the spec here miss the 'g'). Some people unhappy about 65K colour, but it is OS limitation.

why dont u GOOGLE about it! the 200mhz processor is the "centrino" for pdas, its as fast as a 450+mhz processor and doesnt consume as much power! looks like a nice device!
