Samsung A767 Propel - User Reviews

  • why cant i install gimme it now atnt

  • I can't download content on samsung A767

  • same here!

  • i dont know to get this phone or not what would be the best phone like this one ????? x

  • most of the alphabets are not functional like letters A, O, and many others. i lost my baterries since then all the new baterries i bought dont last up to 30mins. some times it will bring out bold red and black lines. though i still cheris the phone

  • This phone was great when I first had it 1 and a half years ago, and now I have this issue with the service. It just drops all my bars no matter where I am, and a lot of the times it just gives me the icon with a phone with a slash through it. I think that that is awful. Does it happen to y'all? I really wouldn't suggest people to get this phone. AND, the battery life dies like every day.

  • Hi everyone, Do you know how to switch the 3G on. I try to change many SIM Card but it still show 'E' icon near the network signal. I never see the 3G or H icon showed. Please help. Thanks

  • yes it will the exact same thing happened to me after water gatorade and laundry soap poured on it. The downfall was the laundry soap. Sudenly my phone started to work one day. so i just started using it again it just smells like laundry witch is reall y nice when u think about it lol

  • I totally agree with you, I can't understand why this phone drains battery so fast. It's a perfect phone except for the battery life... I hope someone techy can resolve this. I charge my phone every night.

  • i dropped my first one quite a few times and it stopped working after i dropped it in a puddle a few days later. then i got another, and someone accidentally kicked it into a hot tub, but strangely it still works now, though both stickers are red.

  • my girlfriend had this phone and after a year it started acting up, i also have this phone and ive had it for a year i randomly loose reception and dont get it back for days and then sometimes it says it has reception but it wont send or make a call if my life depended on it, it makes me sad because i absoulty loved this phone while it worked :/

  • Had the Samsung Propel for about a year, worked great. Dropped it in the sink and had the moisture sticker turn red. Took the battery out and dried it; popped the battery back in but when it wouldn't stop vibrating left it to dry for a day. Came back and it turned on normally, updated the time and shut itself down. A friend tried turning it on several times, although I warned her it might damage it, and now all it will give me is the download screen. This is the second day it's been wet, and I just popped it into a bowl of rice. Will it work even though the battery has been in and out of it multiple times since it got wet? If not, will I be able to retrieve contacts/texts/videos/pictures if I take it into the store?

  • I have had this phone for almost two years now and all of a sudden the keys on the face of the phone stoppped working, is there anything i can do?

  • there's no problem w/ the battery, there's no warranty, what if i bring it again to the service center, is there any change for it to be fixed?

  • i would suggest you to call att warranty if your phone is still under warranty/ or have you check a diff battery on your phone? you might have battery issues aswell

  • hi there we do have the same problem, what happen to your phone now? is there any change to fix our phone? mine was no longer functioning, it shut off on it's own and never turned on... i bring it repair shop for 3 times but still it will function and will no longer turn on...what do you think is it the program that have been affected?or it can no longer be fixed?

  • I had a A767, now i can no longer use it, i can no longer turn it on, i been to repair shop then it works, then last night the battery was drained then i charged it i can no longer turn it on again, would you mind to help me w/ it. I been to repair shop for 3 times then the same problem was still unsolved, once been there it works then for an hour it will automatically off then i can't turn it on, what might be the problem? according to the repair if it will turn off again the problem would be the program but i doubt it, because one night i accidentally pour a small amount of soft-drinks on it, then the problem begins but it's not grounded, it didn't drained the battery, help me guys what might be the problem.

  • it has gps

  • ive had a Propel only a couple days ago before it broke. the phone was green and in perect conditaon. it was my 3rd year havig it and when i yurned it on a couple days ago, it turned itself on to the main screen turned itself off and repeated.. i cannot find anyway to fix it, even a repair man for this phone couldnt get it to work. if you use a samsung phone i suggest going to walmart and getting a pantech moblie or samsung impression. if you want internet unlimited texting and all its 25 dollars. i will comment later if i have any ideas. need any help again? add me on facebook. and this is a 13 yr old girl. need any more tech questions, ask :)

  • yeah it mine it started to turn blue to orange and sometimes when i open it screen goes white and u cant do anything except turn it off and turn it back on also now keys on the front of the phone does not work so i cant go to inbox to delete my messages nor send messages my inbox is full so i cant even read the texts.. now i cant even call people because i cant get to the address book.

  • Dear all, I just bought it for few months. I wonder that this phone has GPS or not? Wishes,

  • i love this phone it is not that hard to figure out...the camera is awesome!

  • can someone help me activate my internet on my phone.. im with bell my phone works and all i just cant get n to the internet and i have an internet plan.. they told me i had to enter my wap 1 and wap 2 im not too sure.. i need help :(

  • I like this phone. Now that I finally know how to use it. Takes a while to figure out the buttons. I like the fact that it slides and covers the buttons so you don't accidently call someone when you sit on it. It's slim and fits in your pocket or purse very nicely. I really like it. Takes great pictures and videos.

  • Both my wife and I had the A767 Propel for a year and a half. The battery life is just terrible --- the worst that we had ever. We use it very little but we keep them with us all the time --- essentially in "always standby" mode. The battery does not last 3 days. We need to charge every other day at least. Once, I had an overseas trip. I turned the power off on the airplane. I brought it with me only to call my wife when I come back at the airport. When my plane landed in my home city after a one week trip (during that time, the phone was completely OFF), I tried to call my wife. The battery was completely "drained" and I could not make one call. I replaced the battery but it did not help. We are not going to choose another Samsung for our cell phone. Samsung is a great name but our experience with the A767 Propel has been just terrible with regard to the battery life.

  • Lets just say that my phone is a piece of U know what. Mine shuts itself down and will come right back on 4 no apparant reason. It overheats, gets hot 2 the touch, after only being on it for 10-15 minutes. I will never own one of these phones again. AT&T should B ashamed of themselves.

  • I've had this phone for about a year and I have to say it's the best phone I've ever had. It has amazing storage not to mention a good quality camera. Aside from the fact that in some places it takes a while for texts to send, it's a great phone. I recently dropped it in water and I took it apart and let it sit in rice for a few hours and then tried it. It worked for awhile, and then went haywire on me. I thought it was a goner but I left it in rice overnight anyways, and the next morning I turned it on and I was relieved to find that it worked just like normal.

  • I got this phone for Christmas of 2008. For about 5 days now it has changed colors on me from blue to orange, when I flip it up the screen might be all white and so I will have to pop out the battery and restart it, the ability for it to send out a message is horrible. I am a ver avid texter and when it takes me up to 20 minutes to send one text message I get pretty steamed. At first this phone was great, but over the past 3 months I have lost more and more signal, the power is always depleting worse than any other phone I have ever owned, ability to send a text is horrific, and because the humidity strip in back is pink/red I have to claim to the insurance and pay 50 dollars and if they do find out it's water damaged than 100 dollars ontop of the 50 dollars. It was a good phone, but not worth it in the long haul.

  • omg i only brought it in the bathroom once or twice and had a case on and it just stopped charging and tht thing had turned red so ya i got an upgrade

  • I've had this phone for like a year. And I really havent had any problems with it besides the Battery Life, and sending messages. Some Messages take up to like 8 minutes to send. And I text alot, So I have to charge it everyday, which is annoying. I love te keybored on this phonee, its not too fancy but its really amazing. So easy to text on :] And I swear I have droped that thing more than 894 timess. And its still all good. I even chucked it across a parking lot one night, and its still alive. C: And it also stores alot of stuff I never had too many pictures and sounds and what not and right now i have like 600 photos. Hah. So I recemend this phone to people :) Its a pretty rad phone, even know its not that fancy. Hope I helped

  • I've had this Samsung A767 Propel since Christmas of 2008. It was a nice phone for a while, then I had problems when I would send out text and it would duplicate numerous times without my control. Eventually, that stopped. Then, just last night, I was texting and my screen suddenly turned orange and blue. I shut it off and turned it back on, and it was fine. Moments later the screen went completely blank, all white, and I could do nothing with it; I then took out the battery, replaced it, and then it was alright again. Later that night the screen had many horizontal lines going across it, and since then they will appear and then disappear. I'm not sure what the cause of this is, so if there are any solutions you have, comments, or if this has happened to your phone, please respond to this.

  • This phone is a complete piece of crap! we bought it 8/2009 & since then AT&T has provided us w 3 refurbished phones. Each 1 that came had more problems than prior ones. Multitasking key WON'T work while on internet-can't call out, text play games etc., earpiece on phone is hard to hear person your talking to, most calls are dropped, several texts don't go out or come in, internet usually doesn't connect-it says error 20,when texting if you hold caps shift it doesn't capitalze them and on and on etc!!! We probably will be leaving AT&T since we've been thourougly dissatisfied & utterly disgusted!! Don't buy this phone unless you want dissapointment.

  • im glad im not going crazy and my phone doesn't go swimming while im asleep. so i've only had this phone for about 2 months and suddenly it starts turning itself off and wont turn back on. i examined the phone to find that the water damage strip had gone red alert and this perplexed me. i have NEVER exposed this phone to moisture; not in the bathroom, not in puddles, not in my soup, i've never spilled beer on it, etc. the only thing my phone does consistently is go from my pocket to my face to my pocket. now it does nothing. "traps body moisture" my foot! so does my underwear which is why im smart enough to not design a cell phone function in it. granted the phone was a gift (or a steal) but the warranty cant be voided because i USED the phone properly. such an ill conceived design should have never made it to the public and AT&T should refund or replace all propels that have shown this same type of malfunction (which i can only imagine is a lot of them.) thanx a lot AT&T.

  • My dad got a phone a while ago and now if he presses a button it will put other letter in the texting area when he textes. Also when he talks the voulmn radomly go up and down by its self. IT WILL MAKE A LOAD BEEP!!!!! aahhhhh

  • my phone has these glitches where it randomly just freezes then turns off and right back on and sometimes doesnt turn back on for about 5 minutes. i have had this phone for about a year nd 2 months. this problem has been going on for about a week. i have never had water damage although i do drop it often. what is wrong with the phone?

  • its proble cuz u hav the speaker on mute dummy

  • silicone cases have a tendency to trap in body moisture while its in your pocket so that y ur stickers probably red.

  • Ive read all these comments too and im having the same problem with the speaker... ive NEVER dropped it in water, but i have taken it in the bathroom where i shower and the steam gets it moist or w.e, and now i cant hear a thing when people call me or i call them, but they can hear me.. i can only hear with the speaker on and this is just ridiculous and its making me VERY mad.

  • i have it i dont think its as bad as all the other comments but i would rather have a smartphone like an htc one or an iphone

  • Phone is literally a year old Christmas Day and now I can't hear anyone on the other end unless I use speakerphone; this started two days ago. Am reading multiple posts about possible water damage; phone has never been rained on, dropped in water, showered with, etc - took battery cover off and moisture indicator still looks white. Phone also does not turn off/on easily. Liked the expandable memory feature (I also use it as an MP3 player), but not happy with the proprietary headsets. Slide cover is cheaply made and does not seat properly after a year of normal use. Will NOT get another one of these and definitely would not recommend it to anyone.

  • wat does the charger look like thats wat i've been lookin for,for the longest and haven't found it

  • this phone stinks! my buttons wont work anymore!!!! :(

  • this phone stinks! my buttons wont work anymore!!!! :(

  • Hi peopple, I buyed this celular phone, yestarday....its sucks?...wrong dicision, no?...i cant find the manual...internet, he doenst work.....

  • ATT does absolutely nothing about this situation with the red dot on the back of the phone. I am apalled at the customer service, with this company! I can not believe that with reading all of these comments, that they do not see that numerous customers have had the same problem, and should definitely honor the warranty if your phone is less than a year old. We went on a vacation to the beach just a week ago, and obviously the humidity was high, as it always is. I come home and unless my phone is on speaker phone, i can not make calls, as I can not hear the other person. They can hear me, but I can't hear them. some kind of speaker problem. I have not had this phone in any water, but have taken it in the bathroom when I shower, which they now tell me is a no-no! My bathroom is the size of a small bedroom. I've always taken phones in the bathroom. Never had a problem until this phone! ATT I hope you guys are reading these posts and see that your customer service is horrible! I can't wait until my contract is up!

  • So i recently got this phone, it sucks, i downgraded from a 3g Iphone which that had a shattered screen and the speaker had water damage. The propel has very poor battery life. i charge it everyday even when i first got it and one 5minute call drops the battery to 3 bars, its outragous. the keys are very small and slim and it freezes alot. it was only 30$ but still its a crappy phone. I lose signal all the time and when i call someone and they talk it doesnt let me talk back

  • I am glad I didn't buy this phone. My friend got this phone around the time when I got my Pantech MatrixC740 & he wants to trade it in. This was about 6 months ago & now he cant do anything about his phone cuz of the water dammaged sticker. I know him & he did not get it near the water. The phone is now unfixable because it can't even hold a charge. He is now using his old phone & is still regreting on buying this phone. Again, glad I didn't buy this so called "cool slider phone"

  • Same as everyone....bought 6 phones at christmas--still under warrenty---one was not charging--called the warrenty line--checked the sticker--it was red!!! _NEVER dropped in water--been in humid conditions tho--it's a mobile phone--in my purse all the time--now i am stuck with a phone that doesnt work--i have 6 phones - 1 that is useless and 5 that i am now waiting for the other shoe to drop on those--bummed.....

  • I have had the phone since christmas. It four months in it started losing its signal. I couldnt recieve calls or call out. Took it to ATT they said that they detected a signal problem but because the moisture strip is red I was out of luck, I could do an insurance claim and get a replacement phone. I got a second one and now I am having the same problem. I live in Louisiana its humid the strip is going to turn color just from walking outside!

  • Slide mechanism is fairly weak and isn't difficult to break. Screen resolution is humorous and the software is pretty bland. Lol, seriously. I hate this thing.

  • A friend of mine just got this phone for free from AT&T, so I decided to come here and look at what people were saying about it. The discussion about the moisture indicator got me thinking... does my Motorola E815 have that? I've had this phone since 2005 (yes it is four years old). So I popped off the battery cover and there it was, exposed as all can be. It was still white. I've had my phone in the bathroom during showers, outdoors in humidity, in my pocket, and everywhere you could imagine in four years of use. The battery compartment on this phone is by no means "sealed". So I can only guess that the sticker in the Propel is extremely sensitive. The problems with this phone and the "reason" for a voided warranty seem to be completely unrelated, though. My friend has had his phone for two days now. No problems, yet. I'm going to check on his sticker the first chance I get.

  • I have had my propel since christmas and have never had a problem. The battery life sucks bad but still a good phone. I got my from an athorized retailer, my friend got hers from a corprate in line store and hers has had all of those problems. Maybe its just place you are getting ya'lls from.

  • I too got this phone. After 4 months, I could no longer text. The Software would not load. They told me that because of the moisture sticker turning redI was out of luck and AT&T would do nothing about it. This phone is badI believe a class action lawsuit would be perfect. I was even told that the body moisture from putting in your pocket could cause thiswhat a scam.

  • it stinks do not get this phone!! i have had it for 2 months and it is all ready doing that

  • I received this phone for mother's day 2009. By June 8th when my family took a trip to Florida, it had stopped getting service. I too contacted AT&T to find that my phone had gotten "moisture damage." At&T refused to replace it or even to allow me to buy another phone at the same price. I am back to using my old RAZR and am sorry I got the texting plan and sorry I bought this phone!

  • If I had read these commnets before I would not have gotten this phone. Acivated it just before Christmas and in the last month the phone started turning off by itself, now up to 5 times an hour. Called at&t and since the dot shows "moisture" damage, no warranty. This phone has never had any moisture damage and as a matter of fact has had a silicone cover on it since day one. Do not get this phone

  • i have this phone and it was ok for the first couple of month but then after a while it just started shuting off on its own and it was just not sending messages proberly. All in all it was just aggravating me. I could be in the middle of a phone call in it would shut off. i went to to the store and they told me that it had water damage. Mind you i bealy ahd the phine for a good 3 months before the problems stated showing up. I have a one year contract so i really cant get a new phone untill the january of next year. They told me to get insurance and get a new phone but what they fail to mention that the price of the phone will show up on your next bill if you get a new phone through insureance. im starting to hate this phone.

  • I cant believe what I am reading right now. today is aust 4th, I got the propel phone a month ago, I knew it was problematic when I first got it. It doesn't hold a charge at all. one 15-2-min call and your down two bars. I get static, and other problems. I've been a custemer with at&t since the late 90's through all the changes and I went to the store to exchance it and the same thing happened to me. They said the box on the back was red, which meant water damage. I lost it, I said the phone has never been wet and I had paid full price for the phone because, unfortunately something did happen to my other phone. I told them this is a scam, I spoke to the manager(who I could not believe was a manager) she wanted me to buy another phone for $40.00 and said she would give me insurance and also said I could pay a fee to get out of the contract, I was so irate I had to leave. Oh and I had also mentioned that there has been like 90% humidty off and on especially the day I brought it back, I am with you, any attorney's out there?

  • Don't get this phone, the phone has a design and manufacturer's problem. Samsung should should re-check their product. After using it for 5 months, the life of the battery is worst and the moisture on the back turns orange and a big message on the screen 'Download' with red background. You cannot do anything on the phone. This summer, we have a lot of moisture in the Northeast with almost everyday rain. And all of a sudden I got these message after charging it overnight. We should report these to the Better Business Bureau. ATT does not honor the warranty because Samsung does not honor it also. Do not buy Samsung product if they don't do anything about this product. They design it to fail and they included this like litmus paper to justify themselves.

  • My husband and I upgraded to the Propel in March. This is July and my husband's microphone does not work. We tried to get AT&T to replace the phone under the warranty and they will not honor it because he has a red dot indicating moisture. I decided to look at the dot on my phone and it is also red. Neither of us has gotten our phone wet. I also called my daughter who has a Propel and she said her dot was red and she has not gotten her phone wet. AT&T said we should not have our phones in the bathroom while showering! I was with Cingular who was bought out by AT&T since 2002 and never had any problems with any of the NOKIA phones we have had. I think there is a defect in this phone which lets moisture in and we as customers are getting the short end of the stick. I too have had battery charging problems. I have no doubt AT&T will loose us as customers and I don't care if I have to pay an early termination fee!!!

  • We hate these phones. We got two in February. My husbands buzzes when talking so he either has to text or else call on a landline. My daughter's battery life is only a couple of hours. We bought a new $40 and same thing. AT&T says, water damage. Never had water damage that we're aware of! Come on, My husband had an LG and my daughter had a Motorola for a full 2 1/2 years with no problems! What a joke! I'm not paying $250 for a new phone! I'd rather switch to Verizon and pay the termination fee!

  • well i know my kid did nothing to my phone and its had that stupid pink box, the phone is crap.....

  • We upgraded 4 phones to the propel in November 2008. 2 needed to be replaced within 45 days. All of these phones are having shut off problems or charging issues. One of the phones was accidentally run thru the washer and of course ruined. The other 3 are all showing moisture damage although they have not been wet. AT&T will not honor the warranty. Look at all the other posts. Are there any lawyers out there to bring a class action suit? Unhappy Roger

  • i have this phone and its a piece. i hate it and wouldnt recommend to anyone. this phone sucks!!!

  • OK I have read all these post , but my question is What did ATT do about any of this ?

  • I got the Samsung A767 Propel in mid February. It was great, I liked it a lot. It took awhile to get used to the qwerty keyboard though, I'll admit. And then about, 2 months ago or so, maybe less, it started acting up. My phone would randomly start shutting off if it was jostled or if I shut it. It was driving me crazy! So, we called AT&T under warranty, and we sent it back, and they sent me a new Propel. Well, I just activated it today and it's ALREADY having the same problem. It's driving me crazy! And sometimes when I try to turn it back on after it's shut off, it takes me at least two minutes because it just won't turn on at all. I am seriously contemplating getting a new phone, if there's no fix for this one.

  • Same problem with the red sticker. All other phones Ive had have had the sticker under the battery. You have to pull the battery out in order to see if the sticker has changed to red. Not on the Propel. Simply slide the cheap plastic batter cover off and looky there. The sticker is sitting in plain site beside the battery. Not only that if you look at the speaker large speaker on the back of the phone and where the back cover is slotted to allow the speaker to play thru you will notice how very easily any type of moisture can access that darn little red sticker. Could be AT&T way of saveing themselves money on replaceing phones. May see a trend in moisture stickers showing up in places on the phone where water or anything else can get to it easy so when you do have a lagit gripe well then guess what? That sticker releases them from blame and places it on YOU! BOO HISSSSS

  • Ringtones are easy to customize. I downloaded software with my last phone, and it works with this one too. tonethis.com And any music you have on your computer you can cut as long or as short of the song as you want for your ringtone..fade it in and out.. it's nice.. and you just send it to your phone and download it. takes like 2 seconds. I like it, and when you want it as your ringtone for this phone just look it up under audio or whatever and hit apply for ringtone. it's easy.

  • We bought four propels in December, in the last few weeks two have stopped working, my wife stopped in at an AT&T store to see if they could tell us what the problem was, the moisture detection stickers on both had turned pink. She also found out that one that was still working had actually turned red indicating high water damage. These phones have never been subjected to high moisture conditions. Shouldn't a phone have some degree of protection from natural elements such as high humidity or sweat? Ready for disposal after 5 months of normal use?

  • Had this phone for 4 months so far, recently it started shutting off and turning back on intermettenly when I would slide it closed. It finally started to shut off and restart every time i closed the phone. I called AT&T Warranty line and spoke to support who informed me that it is out of warranty cause the water damage sticker was red! Bullshiz (with a z)! Back to the GoPhone. ps- Don't get this phone

  • Did someone find a solution on how to run java software on this phone? Thank you

  • Very disappointing. Turns off during conversations, reception is terrible in areas where we never had a problem with our motorola phones. Highly recommend NOT to buy, you will be sorry that you did.

  • have had the a767 for about 3mos now, and am pretty pleased with it. i use for some stuff (phone, music, vid, notes, camera), but no net/online apps or games or anything. anyways, QWERTY keys are small, but you get used to it. its been dropped many times and hard enough so that the battery door pops off, and is NO worse for the wear. the music player/interface is pretty darn good (though album art is miniscule). that it plays nice with so many formats is a big plus. the thing gets left on the sink countertop while i'm in the shower, never a moisture issue. interface overall is pretty good, and moderately customizable. i dunno that i would've paid full-boat for this as i dont need nearly all this phone offers, but w/the ATT contract continuance discount (phone for $29.95), its pure absolute win.

  • Note: Audio files smaller than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files larger than 300 KB are stored in the Music Folder. You can not assign an MP3 file larger than 300 KB as a ringtone.

  • howdy --- mp3s have been usable on my a767 with no flush/modifaction needed. what i found was the key was keeping the mp3tone to a limited length & filesize (ie: 320mbps=not good, 96-128mbps=good). i've not yet tried to figure out the exact values, but when i try to use a song/longer section, phone tells me no dice, but when i drop a 15second one in it works.

  • LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) sticker is a sensitive piece of sticker that is at the back of the phone that could turn pink or red when get in touch in any form of liquid or moisture. there are several reason why the LDI sticker turns pink/red like *Prolong use of the handset (talking) which constitutes to possible acquiring of oil / sweat from face and hand thus affecting LDI *Shower room moisture *Using the phone when raining *Dropped in water or liquid *Extreme or heat due to climate condition. the manufacturer's warranty does not cover any liquid or physical damage on the phone. NOW asked yourself why your phone has been liquid damage, NOT the device 'coz you are the one who uses it. this apply to all phones regardless of the manufacturer. FYI.

  • My wife has had this phone for about three months and loved it while it worked. However, the screen whites out regularly and when I called in too have it replaced they said the warranty was void because the sticker turned pink. This phone has never been in the water. Based on this and the many other comments I have seen I will not get this phone again.

  • So how do you flush my phone to allow me to use MP3 ringtones ?? If you are willing to do it for a reasonable cost, I am in. Other technicians said it couldn't be done because Rogers uses a completely different software.

  • i dont understand your problems,i have the same phone, i have brought mine in the bathroom with me while i showered with the door closed, lots of steam, and my phone is fine, and the water thing indicator is as white as ever!! i live in canada and have service with rogers, but i dont think that would make a difference as it is the same phone.... hmmm funny

  • Have had this phone for a month. Disappointing. Like the QWERTY a lot - it's the reason I chose it. THere's two big shortcut buttons you can't customize, lame. Can't use custom ringtones. Mega lame. Stupid phone.

  • WE have the same problem as quite a few others. Bought two of these phones at Christmas time. NOW one is not working right and when we checked the dot...sure enough it was red...Checked the other phone that my daughter has at college and it was red too! We have NO idea what color they were when they arrived but neither phone has been put in water and according to them BOTH phones have water damage in 4 months of use! The moisture indicator is way to sensitive and now AT&T says both phones are off warranty and we're stuck with an expensive phone that doesn't work. I am furious. Do NOT purchase this phone!

  • I agree with the first comment from Jenny. I have the propel and i had it since it first came out and loved it until everyone i called fomr it couldn't hear me due to a loud buzzing noise. Turns out the water damage indicator is pink but my phone has NEVER been dropped or emersed in water ever! If someone was to look through my phone there would be NO signs of water damage but apparently it is all because the indicator is pink. And come to think about it when I first got the phone i dont ever remember it being white. For this reason I reccomend spending the extra money and using verizon!

  • We bought two Propels on the 2 for 1 deal last Christmas. One kept switching off so we called the warranty. They said that beccause the moisture detector had turned red the warranty was voided. We were puzzled because it hadn't been anywhere near water, so we looked at the other phone too--and guess what, that sticker was also red. And I KNOW that one hasn't been in water. The tech said we must have taken both phones in the bathroom or kitchen. You don't say! Isn't that why they're MOBILE? I am furious because this is very clearly a defect but ATT will not do a thing except sell us new phones. I would strongly suggest that you do not buy this phone, and that you don't buy from ATT if they are unreasonable about obvious faults in their phones. This is a scam.

  • I just got this phone 4 days ago so far i am very satisfied, im a huge texter so the querty keyboard is a must have for me, samsung managed to compact the keyboard in quite nicely without making it to cramped up, its a little tight around the top edge but you can get used to it. The camera is only 1.3mp but i find its pretty decent for a low budget phone, a few options you can play around with like adding effects and so on, if your looking for a higher quality camera, youll have to look at a more expensive phone, or go out and buy a digital camera, the video is decent as long as you have good lighting, longest ive been able to record is 28 seconds though, im thinking it would be longer with a larger memory card, i only have 2g in right now..but no biggie. the media player is easy to navigate, sound is clear and loud. The battery life is decent if you know how to work it, for example when you first get the phone charge it for like 12hrs, let your battery fully drain before charging it again, keep your backlighting and brightness as low as you can, i manage to keep this phone charged for about two days, and honestly ive had a lot of phones, some cheap and some expensive and theyre batteries was no better than this one, but i will say that an extended battery for this phone would be great!!! all in all its a good little phone for people who dont want to spend a lot of money on a high end pda, if your looking for the function of a high end pda i suggest you bypass this phone. and should remember that you can always find a fault with any phone your going to buy cheap or expensive!!!!

  • You need to flush and unlocked your Rogers Propel in order to use all ringtones and movies. Cost? $15-$50

  • You need to verify the file is in .mp3 format and under 300KB. Any file over 300KB can not be used as a ringtone. Deleting album artwork from the track helps to bring down the size as well.

  • I have had my Propel for 3 months and I love it. The battery life is good for me but I don't use it that much. I will, however, agree with the moisture indicator turning red way too easily. I have not had my phone near water EVER and it turned pinkish. My phone crapped out (not due to the water - it was electricuted) and I changed the water indicator sticker with one I purchased on eBay. My question is this: Is there some other indicator the techs can find inside the phone? I'm afraid if I send this off for warranty that there may be another way to tell if it has been around moisture.

  • I just got this phone from Rogers, and I like to have my own customized ringtones. So using the software, I was able to transfer my own ringtones in the rintones section of the phone, but it won't let me use it as a ringtone. How do I do it?

  • I have had mine for about a month now, and all in all it's a good phone if you can keep it alive. I am a technician who is on the phone almost all day long, I also used the navigator, internet, and e-mail features daily. On an average day, I am using voice on the phone about 3 hours, the internet about and hour and a half, and the navigator around an hour and generally I can make it through and 8 - 10 hour workday without charging it. The battery meter drops to one bar fairly quick but depending on how you conserve that last bar, it can live for an hour plus of talk time (not speakerphone... only about 35 mins, there). All in all the features are cool, the keyboard is a bit tiny for someone with large fingers, and the battery leaves a little bit to be desired - but it's a good phone, and pretty durable (when dropped from nearly any height, the battery shell comes off and the battery pops out - and the surface will scratch if dropped on concrete (yes, I beat up my phones). It's worth it all in all, but I'd love an extended battery option.

  • the screen looks tiny.

  • The key word in your comment is that this is your "sons" phone. The water indicator on a phone does not turn red from humidity alone (I have tested this by taking phones into the bathroom while taking extreamly long hot showers on multiple occasions and have never seen any indication of water damage or indicator turning red). What more likely happened is that your son got the phone wet and was too scared to tell you because he knew it was a costly mistake. I know we want to trust our kids but one of their biggest fears is disapponting their parents and they will lie through their teeth if they think it will keep them in your good graces.

  • Okay I have the Palm Centro and It is a really great phone when it comes to features but It gets scratches quickly and it looks horrible. Also I haven't had this phone for a year yet and my whole keyboard is gone. Like I have nothing there so I have to use the on screen keyboard but that's just me. My friend also has the Palm Centro and he has problems hearing and had to send his phone back two times. It's internet it great though and you can watch youtube videos etc. If you get the Palm just make sure you get insurance on it like when it starts to get scratches ;] lol. I really want the Propel though because a friend of mines has it and it is great to type on and that's all I want. I don't use the internet on my phone anymore so I told my mom I just need unlimited texting. The Palm is more for internet preferences. So it all depends on what you want in a phone. The propel also has internet though it's just that the Palm Centro has better feature with the internet and without it's pretty much just texting.

  • I love the phone features but the battery life is horrible, it runs out of battery in very light usage and you will have to charge it constantly, my husband and myself both got one and we are returning them, this seems to be a problem I saw on the attand t web forum with some users who returned theirs too

  • hi, i want this phone really bad. but i am scared i am going to regret this. can someone please help me. i need to know which phone would be better. would it either be the palm centro, or this phone ? please i need someone's opinion. i have been reading comments, but a lot of people have good comments. & bad comments. i want the palm b/c the keypad is not as small as the palm centro. please give me opinions b/c i need to know if it would be better to get this phone or the palm centro. Thank You .

  • I got this phone. It is great for IM with MSN, Yahoo, or AIM. Gtalk is not an option! Email is set up for Windows LIVE, Yahoo, AOL, AIM, Bellsouth, Comcast, Earthlinnk, juno, mindspring, and netzero. GMAIL IS NOT AN OPTION!!! I was able to get gmail to work by installing the gmail client, or by web browsing to gmail. In fact, The client from gmail works better than the built in email options in the phone IMHO.

  • Same here after 1 month. This is ridiculous. The ATT agent said the red sticker indicates water damage and so the warranty is void. One month of use. DON'T GET THIS PHONE!

  • should i get this phone

  • Does anyone know if this phone threads conversations?

  • i want this phone for my thirteenth birthday. but it cost a lot. i really hope i get it though! my friend ronny has it and she loves it it last long and it doesnt break easy so its a top notch phone thanks bye

  • Im considering getting this phone, but I kinda have big fingers. I text constantly! Is it harder to text with bigger hands? Thanxx -Jordann!-

  • I live in Georgia, but went to West Palm Beach ,Florida for 2 weeks. I was outside pretty much the whole time and my phone had no problem with the humidity. Your situation sounds like a defect with the phone.

  • First, you go to settings. Then go to #4 which is "phone". Then #3, which is slide settings. Finally click "continue operation." This means that every time you are using your phone and it slides down, you can continue whatever you are doing.

  • You first need a texting plan, which can cost as much as $20. If you do not have a plan, it is 10 cents each to receive and send texts Also, you cannot send texts to landline phones. I hope this helped you at all.

  • that phone is amazing i luv to tex so this phone is great i tex more than itex so that is awsome and cool so its better than what other people say

  • My granddaughter has this phone. It seems she can only send and receive texts from other ATT customers. Other people I have on the same plan don't have this problem. Anyone know, is this a setting issue in the phone itself?

  • I just got this phone and I like it a lot. But I cannot figure out how to turn off or edit the settings on automatic keypad lock? It turns itself on way too quickly. It's very annoying for me. Has anyone figured it out?

  • my son had this phone for one month and took very good care of it. he had it outside in florida weather and it stopped working. this phone is very sensitive to humidity and att said it was exposed to water and had water damage. ridiculous ! the white sticker inside turned red from just normal use here. dont get this phone.

  • check out the LG Vu CU920

  • How do I upload java games? Is their a specific code for the propel to install java and enable jar and and jad files to function?

  • I got this phone for christmas. it is a really great phone. although the battery life isn't very good and the screen scratches easy. other than that it is a good phone, very easy to type on and very fast. and it is not a smartphone for everyone that keeps asking. i would give it a 4/5.

  • well i just got this phone and i really like the look and it's very easy to text. i love the full keyboard. i dont have internet on it and this was a phone targeted to internet users. my problem is when other people bluetooth me songs i cant use them as ringtones and the camara is not as good as my other phone..and im just not to sure if i want to keep it. does anyone know of another phone i can look into that has a good camara, was made for music and texting and has a touch screen? and also comes in colors

  • No there is no free unlimited texting it is $20 a month.

  • is there free unlimited texting on this or any AT&T phone?

  • is there free unlimited texting

  • love the phone

  • Very cool phone, easy to text and hold in hand. No complaints so far.

  • Great phone for texting. I don't use mobile web or music or video, but I text quite a bit, and this is exactly what I need. Also, anyone know how to turn off 3G? Seems useless if I'm only talking and texting.

  • do i use this phone with another network?

  • You are so right Versed..... you know very much the Usa... :)

  • Yes, a lot of people will, they're great for kids who are texting nuts. These phones aren't marketed towards people who visit this website or websites like this. Its not a smartphone, its just an inexpensive, and pretty decent texting device.

  • I don't get your point. This is exclusively for US. At&T is releaseing it not Samsung. As of now they don't have Innov8 or Omnia at the US market. Omnia is supposed be released with AT&T in early 2009. Phone manufacturers has little to do. It's the carriers that choose models and ask the manufacturer to customize it. Most of the time they take out features. Until At&T release omnia or innvo8, US market will not see them. We love to see them but helpless. People is US hardly buy Unlocked phones.

  • Usa is a very big market but a very strange market too... i have a friend working for a usa mobile brand and a lot of customers use phones like this because they are cheap... and all the people in usa changes their phones between 6 months and a year... so they use a lot of phones... so, somedoby will buy this phone...:)

  • No one should buy this. Why Samsung with all great phones in Market like INNOV8, Omnia and many more introduce a cheap phone like this with AT&T. Poeple in USA hungry for good phone and do not market the right phones to USA. Same problem with Nokia. Nokia lost the market in USA.

  • i buy this phone if wifi capable. very good design, but lack of some important features. i wait for the upgrade perhaps a800 propel, who knows.

  • The cheapest QWERTY phone ever. Good strategy by Samsung.

  • Design: 6 (passable design..) Features: 7.5 (like i said before it lacks wifi and gps and a little better camera) Performance: 6 (passable battery life)

  • agreed, loving the design, i want one! i don't care if its 1.3mpx, it seems like a very handy, useful phone~!

  • Passable design, very good features, good size of the display but awful resolution... The lack of wifi in a phone like this is a negative point, it lacks gps too but that isn't very important... It has a great expandable memory.... The resolution of the diaplay it could be better... The qwerty keypad seems good... Camera should be at least 2mp.... Price must be in the mid-range market because of the lacks of the phone..

  • hmmmmmm... im guessing is a budget PDA?

  • good design

  • good design
