Friend.if your b2100 is not showing pictures on facebook app i think you dont have a memory card.to show pictures in any app you must insert the memory crd.

Hi, you need a USB data cable with which you can use the phone's internal memory and the SD card as separate logical drives. I think bluetooth can also be an option.

Great phone. I work in maintenance and there is no problem with hidraulic oil, dust, water... Also, very handy and great feature is flashlight. Very basic functions, but tought as can be.

Hello. The vibrate feature on my B2100 has stopped working on all profiles, e.g., meeting, outdoor, although vibrate has been selected and saved for call alert type and message alert type. I have not been rough with the phone, and bought it in 2009. Melody for call and message alert work well. Has anyone experienced the vibrate feature stopping to work, and if so, how were you able to get the vibrate feature to start working again, if at all? Perhaps it is just old and worn out, and if so, is it likely to be beyond economical repair (I live in Calgary, Canada)? What is the successor to the B2100 in terms of similar features and robust construction? Many thanks for your replies.

The symbol E is edge. That is related to internet .if it is in blue colour it shows that it is offline .and if it is in red colour that is in online.if u get rid of these then do this thing. Press-*#4777*8665# then u can disable that E symbol here.

dude dont go by the tv shows or programs cause i have actually done the testing myself by putting it in a bucket of water and dropping it down from 20 ft and as far as the waterproff test is concerned it was absolutely and definely water proof since there was no water anywhere inside the screen or the battery slot or on the battery so dude tv shows just take it as a tv show and nothing elae. everything seen on tv is not true. you should know it better :-)

FAILED, not waterproof. Just saw a test on GMA News channel TV, this vs the Xperia Acro S and Motorola Defy. The Samsung B2100 was the only one that failed. It was still working but had water in the LCD. This is a fat rubber phone, still samsung cannot make it waterproof, while the slim big sexy Xperia Acro S with its HD display had no problems at all. Something is wrong with build quality for the B2100. FAIL.

Terrific & timely comment. Nobody in his right sense would buy an outdated & discontinued phone like the 2100, but for it being waterproof. Need to use it for boating & trekking (snow & water). Option was the 2370. But everyone says battery is very bad!!!!. How hv u masnaged for 3 years

If there is one mobile phone that will compete for toughness and being waterproof...Samsung B2100 Xplorer will be the winner. Two Thumbs up! Been using this for more than a year, torch light helped me a lot during brownout and dark areas. No need to worry when you drop it coz it's shockproof. The only downside of this phone is the SMS capacity in the inbox, outbox, folders, sentbox and draft which is limited to 300 messages only. After that a message indicator will appear that its FULL and you need to delete some SMS for the indicator not to appear again. This phone is highly recommended for people engaging in sports, bikers, runners, and even mountaineers. I may probably get a new phone but I will make sure that my Samsung B2100 Xplorer will still be in my bag or front compartment of the car. It can withstand any weather, typhoon, hot and cold temperature, you can even text and call in the rain. Get one if you can still find it in any mobile store or online store.

Awesome phone doing what I need a phone to do ie: calls and text messages. Battery life is fantastic (almost a week with moderate use)and the torch light has come in handy on a few occassions, however....the only downside of this phone, and Samsung could have done a better job here, is the screen legibility in bright daylight!! Often need to cup my hand over the screen to read text messages, see who's calling etc. other than that a very good phone

Has a low limit on number of files on the SD card. If the card has more files the phone is not able to create any new file. There is also some limit on the length of file so I cant see all my mp3. I just bought in promotion in Aldi and learned that Samsung didnt fix that, altough the phone is quite long on the market.

Curious that there are so many complaints on the features. this phone is designed as a basic ruggedized cell phone. If you want a quality music player, buy an IPod. If you want a camera, buy a camera. If you want a GPS, buy a GPS. Buying a "Cell Phone" and complaining that it's not something else seems a bit silly to me. I am actually curious how effective the phone is at being a phone. How is the operation in a fringe area? How is the basic intelligibility for communications (not sound quality of music playback)? I am looking for a phone that won't quit if I use it in the rain, or it drops off the hood of my truck. I work in poor reception areas and need a phone that won't be constantly dropping calls due to a poor antenna. I need a phone to talk on, not text, surf the net, or listen to music. Any takers on a real evaluation instead of whining that you didn't do your homework and realized it's not a full featured GPS?

I am a builder and do a lot of sea rowing and always have my B2100 wherever I go, it has been fantastic and has lived up to all its specs. The only trouble that has been its demise is that the little waterproof flap which protects the charging socket suffered from perpetually being opened and closed and eventually fell off un-noticed! The next time the phone got splashed it died on me. I'm not put off as I am going to replace it with the same model. The perfect phone for outdoor roughy toughies!

great phone very tough, and it is lashed to my life jacket when kayaking with no probs from salt water.great camera,bit annoyed by the predictive text,you have to wipe out the complete word you cant correct it!and text memory seems to fill up quick. You aren't stupid. This phone is made for active men and women that just happen to be computer literate too. 1. Purchase a data cable for your phone. 2. You need a computer, laptop or otherwise. 3. You'll need an internet connection. 4. Once online, Download "iTunes" from Apple.com 5. Set your "import" section of iTunes to MP3. 6. Insert your favorite Music CD into your computer. 7. Convert the Song you want to use to an MP3. 8. Connect your phone via data cable to computer. 9. Create a folder called ringtones on computer. 10. Transfer folder to phone folder, in "Music" Folder. 11. Disconnect phone from computer. 12. Hit Center Square button on phone. 13. Scroll to "My Files" 14. Click on "Music" folder 15. Scroll to "Ringtones" folder you just created. 16. Open. 17. Highlight the song you created in that folder. 18. Click "Options". 19. Scroll to "Set As," and select. 20. Pop-up window; 1. Ringtone, Caller ringtone, Alarm Ringtone. Choose the one you want. That's it. Actually, this seems extreme, but most other phones on the market, it's alot easier, but it's a lot more expensive. This way, you won't pay for ringtones, and you can use any song you have created into an MP3, another impossibility on other phones. I hope this helps. I love this Phone - and I've dropped it a few times in water on accident, and it still works. I even take it into the shower and talk while in the shower - I just hate to miss a call. :)

I have now one of those for over 1 year and I'm happy with it, but: - beer got in in about 2 min. It still works but the screen and speaker are damaged - the speaker is too loud for some calls. Applies to some specific numbers in my phonebook but I still didn't figure out what they have in common - the bluetooth is sketchy. I can generally connect but not always. The Samsung application can seldomly connect and when it does it can only backup a few messages; most annoying, it cannot back up the phonebook

B2100 is very tough. Have used mine while traveling on sea under a terrible weather and have to keep in touch with the office. Despite of sea water splashing on the phone, it is still very usable. Voice calls are clear also. Very tough when thrown. Got few scratches on the rubber housing but still, no particular defects. But, it has a very limited usage - SMS, MMS, Basic Web Browsing and Low on games.

And to make it clear - its not problem with my unit only and its not problem with batch that my phone came from. My brohter bought exactly the same phone year after I got mine and it has exactly the same problems as mine and he doesnt even abuse his phone as heavily as I have abused and used mine. So food for thoughts ;)! DONT buy this phone if you intend to use it as you only phone. Buy it only for specific activities such as sports and alikes. If youre not into active lifestyle then this phone will disappoint you very soon. Its cheap tho, new Xcoer 271 is more expensive and probablt with the same problems and little bit better battery life.

Been using it for 1.5 YEARS. The good - its tough The bad - call quality is terrible, people often baterly hear me so I have to yell like an idiot into the phone so they can hear me well. I suspect its due to water resistant membranes. Also, if you get it wet, it will lover call quality significantly, because water gets trapped inside speaker and microphone so you will both get bad speaker quality and people will not hear you good so AGAIN you will have to yell. My phone is nearing its end, its battery cover broke. Screen is very reflective, so if you are out in a sunny day, you will have problems reading it. Screen scratches easily. Its big and its heavy. It should be slimmer and tad bit lighter. Overall nice beater phone to use on holidays when hiking or riding boat, but I would NOT recommend it as your main phone!!!!

I am the happy owner of a B2100, too. I do, however, have one question. I accidentially activated the "block function" for incoming call from one of my contacts. Now I cant un-block it, which means that I cant receive calls from that person. Does anyone know how to unblock it again ?

I love this phone! This is the most practical phone that I have ever had! The battery performance is excellent!(lasts for 2 weeks with average use: texting, radio, torch/flashlight, mp3 player, and some camera and internet) The phone doesn't freeze, has very loud loudspeakers which can be used as portable music player. The camera is 1.3 mp and records videos which are clear enough to be watched. The speaker sounds muffled and contained as it is completely sealed. There is an offline mode so you can use it in airplanes. THE LED TORCH IS VERY BRIGHT, BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR HIKING IN THE WOODS OR MOUNTAINS. It's radio doesnt have rds as what this site says but you can record radio clips. The torch may turn on in your pocket if you forget to lock the keypads. Overall this phone is great for those who dont want to carry extra flashlights with them. It can be used as a -personal music player and fm radio. Camera is great for taking snapshots but video isnt that clear if played through the phone.

i have had my b2100 for 4mnths and havnt experienced any problems at all.maybe you got bad units both times mine has been in the water,sand,dust,mud etc. still works everyday:)hope you get a better unit next time.

I have had the same problem with the B2100 battery suddenly going to zero and the phone shutting off. Restart it and the battery is full. This happens randomly as far as I can tell. The store has given me 3 new batteries and a new phone, but I still have the same problem. The only thing I have noticed is that it seems to occur most often when the signal strength is poor. After turning it of and on a few times, it seems to work correctly. No one has been able to help me, yet. If you find an answer, please post it.

The Samsung b2100 is a very nice phone. I've been using mine for 2 months and it is very tough indeed. Mine has remained scratch free all around. For all basic communication purposes (texting, calling), it never failed me for most of the time. I would say that this phone would be perfect if you're always on adventure or work in very humid, dusty or sandy environments, and if you have a constant nightmare of having your cellphone being dipped in the toilet, then this waterproof phone is definitely for you. This phone may not be for everyone. Its camera is only 1.3Mpixels. Though its camera is decent in taking pictures, I could name a number of other brands with much better cameras. Its camera also has no flash capability.

I've had this phone for a year now and I'm very satisfied! One thing that's annoying is the low battery sound alert.. I can't find a way to turn it off unless I'm in Silent Mode. I want to be in Normal Mode and just let the battery run out without hearing those alerts! Have any of u guys been able to "fix" this?

Just got this phone; let me tell you first that availability is pretty scarce in india. To answer the question some guy below me asked regarding display notification when you recieve a call or a message; yes there is notification displayed on screen. There are couple of things prospective buyers should be aware of; first off the feature set of this phone is pretty basic. But let me tell you, the loudspeaker is ultra awesome. Also, I think there is a problem with the ear piece in this phone. The solution to the problem is to reduce your ear piece volume to 5 or below. And even though the display is 256 k colors, it is bad due low resolution of the screen. Another thing, this phone is a strict no no to sms freaks, as the keypad is very hard. I also experienced problems during opera mini 4.2 installation. I am using airtel service. If you experience the same problem as i did, that is, you are able to download opera mini using the built browser but it doesnt connect during the initial setup stage - in all probability it is due to your time settings. First off, try disabling daylight saving. If this doesnt solve your problem, try setting your phone time zone to gmt; this should solve your problem. All in all, i am satisfied with my purchase. It does what it is supposed to do; plus it has features you dont expect from such a phone like Good music player and good all round functionality. But dont let the marine tag get to your head; the phone doesnt sport ultra outdoor features like alti meter and such. But let me tell you, it has one awesome torch lite. Also dont put your life on the phone's battery backup; it barely suffices if you ask me. Ciao.

Syncing with compute

Does anyone have an experience syncing this phone with a computer for contacts and address book? I manage my addresses with Mac OS address book and have been able to sync it with my phones (Blackberrys, Nokias, and Sony Ericssons) using isync. Sometimes by fetching an extra driver. I've done my research into good outdoors phone and am heading out tomorrow to buy the B2100. Just wondering if someone can share their experience with syncing contacts.

I purchased this fone for myself for the exact reason tht it is shock, water and dust proof. Perfect for indian weather conditions. It is really good for these specs but i have been facing a battery problem since the time i have bought it. The battery indicator shows a full battery still the fone switches off by itself due to low battery reason. I charged it for a whole day still the same problem continues. Ifthis problem gets sorted out i think this is one of the best fone's for india :)

I have this as a back up phone and all I can say it serves it's purpose well. I wanted a phone that was tough regardless of the other functions and was not too pricey. Heck, I can whack a mugger on the street with this! It's a solid piece of hardware! Besides the not too comfortable keypad there's nothing more I can complain about the phone. It's has a good battery life and brilliant sounds, those reviews who said it sounded weak or had short battery must've had a bad unit or second hand unit and they didn't had it replaced immediately, mine was A-OK! Sometimes, I also get a kick scaring my friends who's not aware of this model by dropping it in a glass of water or the aquarium during parties. I even brag about it while I'm in the shower and having a conversation with them. So again, if you want a tough phone, this is it...but don't look for other fancy features like wifi, high pixel camera or GPS. This has a big brother, the B2700, maybe that can satisfy your more or the 2mp camera of teh Nokia 3720 Classic, however that is only IP54 certified, this phone is IP57.

Go to a reputable mall then buy it for Php6,500.00 with 2gb micro sd card. It is good but the screen is too small and not as good as those with 2.2 inches screen. I was about this one last xmas but the message font is too small also not good for my eyes.

Can anyone help? A few months after I purchased my phone the audible alarm for my appointment reminder stopped working. I sent it back to the supplier who fixed the problem but the phone had all my contacts and future appointments cleared. Now the fault has occured again. There are a few waterproof/shockproof phones out there, but if you only want a basic one, that is very tough, you should look at Sonim. I would recommend this phone, because it is very tough, and has a good battery life, and is cheap.

Got the phone 10 days ago and love it. Its really basic with no gadgets. Its an outdoors phone: Perfect for my mountain biking and daily commute - with winter here soon in Cape Town, I need a water proof phone as I got tired of carrying zip lock bags with me. Love the email feature - once again basic but it works. Great for checking my inbox when I'm out on my bike. This phone is a great talking point, especially when you get to freak out your office by tossing it into a water jug for a few minutes and then dial it. :) I love the ruggardness of this phone and its important factor for me. It reduces the risk of getting smashed during a tumble. The light came in handy two nights ago - very, very bright but not a maglite. If your looking for a 2nd phone to haul around to the beach, or on the trails - get it.

This phone is both good...and f'ing annoying. Some very very basic errors...such as not automatically resending a text until within signal - surely a massive mistake on a rugged spec phone that will tend to be used in out of the way places with limited/marginal signal reach? Thats the main day to day annoyance. The phone could do with G3, if only for live streaming of internet radio...and that brings me to apps...or rather not to apps, 'cos there are none as far as I know. The screen does scratch easily it has to be said, and is small. The internet browser is weak, most forms can't be filled...it does work with yahoo mail and ebay but little else. You can view downloaded PDF documents. Torch good back up light for the wilds. Music player very good and loud, but voice phone is weirdly metalic. Battery life is good and it does seem to be waterproof etc. It also has a hole at the top for threading string through so you can sling the unit around yer neck...so anyway I lost mine the other day and am trying to find another one that does all the above things that I want without the annoyances...I don't want to have to buy another one of these phones even though I have a pile of accessories..just one to many annoying features...oh another one I think is the inability to unblock a number. (sorry Dad - I thought you were animal rights extremists. Nod to Neighbours)...seriously. Anyway. Gonna upgrade me thinks.

B2100 is my fifth mobile. I usually change mobiles during 2-3 years. The former four mobiles were all equipped with 2 batteries in order to make things smoothly. In fact, I think 2 batteries are really helpful to me especially in business trip. I am afraid that none of the four needs to reset the time and date after taking out the battery. That is why I am quite surprised at this new mobile. Anyway, nothing is perfect. What I can do is just to make it perfect. The four moibles I used are Panasonic GD85.GD76, SonyErisson K750C, NOKIA 6300.

Almost all mobile will have to have their time and date reset when u remove the battery... so its not samsungs way of preventing u from removing it ,... But yes it is a bad idea to get multiple batteries for this phone ... because when u remove the back cover offen the back overs on most phones tend to get loose ... with this phones such a thing would restrict, decrease or even nullify its waterproof capability so its advisable not to buy a 2nd battery unless u travel alot and will be far from the nearest place (car, house, hotel, etc) where u could charge ur phone

I got it yesterday with two batteries. When I took the battery out and restarted it, I was told that the time/date needed to be reset. Accoring to the seller, it is OK. 43 days standby mode means that it's on standby without touching or minimal use..duh! You disagree with the phone being able to last for almost a month because you said that your phone only lasted for 3 days with minimal use.....SO IT'S STILL MINIMAL USE AND YOU STILL USED IT.....so you are wrong in saying that the phone cannot last for almost a month because when you tested how long it could last, you said THERE WAS STILL MINIMAL USE. STANDBY means not using or touching it even a bit that's why the standby of this phone is long. IT'S impossible for ANY phone to last only three days on standby.

I know! The flashlight/torch feature of this phone is the most important feature which totally complements it's purpose of being an outdoor phone. I never knew id be using the flashlight of this phone more often because it is SUPER POWERFUL, LIKE A REAL HANDHELD FLASHLIGHT. The sound quality is even superb without distortions. I purchased an 8GB micro sd card because i thought that I will be recording a lot of my adventures through the videocamera feature and this will be my final phone because im looking forward to its features. Keypad is not as stiff as they say. Its has that general high-tech feel.

The newer model of Samsung (2nd Q of 2009) use that center button as a shortcut to the main menu...(so, if B2100 shortcut is annoying, just buy a newer model)

i have samsung b2100 since november 2009 and i asure all of you that ip57 is very good.i wash it with soap every ten days.the tourch is very good and the battery stays from 7 to 10 days.you must change the network settings from quad band into gsm 900/1800 or gsm 850/1900 and thes all will be okay...

The only reason y the phone got water is because it wasnt properly sealed! I have put the phone in water and left it there for 5 minutes and nothing happened to it! Always make sure that the port is sealed and that the back cover is correctly closed! It has never had issues despite the fact that I have also dropped it several times!! I have this phone for a 6 months and I was satisfied till today. Today I dropped him accidentally for first time in water, and I picked him up about 5 seconds after, just when I noticed. His display had few drops of water. So he failed water test. ip57 is only reason why I bought him, because I am kayak-man. Phone is legal and I have 2 years warranty period. But guarantee does not cover water resistance as i see. So I immediately opened phone and dismantle him with screw driver and wipe his display and dry him out. Now everything is working, but this is scam that is ip57. I lost my warranty because I opened phone myself. Don't believe that it is waterproof unless it is guaranteed! Bitter experience!

just got this fone. battery is full in 1 hr, drains in 2 days simultaneous music, text, call, flashlight, and other applications. When just use for call and text, it lasts 3 days. the music sounds good too. even better with an earphone. the camera sucks, especially the video player. i cant play transferred mp4 and long range videos from sony erickson, which is one of my phones. it cant play 3gp type of videos too. the keypad is hard to press. you can create themes, which is cool. the games are all demo, not even one is with license. the body is shock resistant, but the lcd is not scratch proof. but i still like the phone, the flashlight is better than that of nokia. i just don't like the switch button for the volume and flashlight, it feels dettaching if you're not careful enough. you cant open the battery cover most of the time, the lock might get loose, could compromise the phone's waterproof ability. it has blocking options for call and text. it doesnt freeze even the mem card is full. sending message is faster than other samsung phones.

This phone is super! The sound quality when playing the music player is better than other phones because the audio quality is clear and crisp with balanced amount of bass and treble. The sound in NOT THAT muffled like what the reviews say. In fact its speaker is louder than SAMSUNG CORBY AND SAMSUNG STAR from my brother. But since im very obsessed with keeping my phone brand new i just noticed something. When i switch the volume to maximum using samsung tune as my call ringtone, the speaker distorts and sounds "basag" slightly. Im concerned because i feel my phone is used up and i feel like buying a new one. Does this occur in your b2100 handsets when you set the volume to maximum in samsung tune as your ringtone in profile settings? PLEASE REPLY ASAP :))))) REPLY ASAP. yes it does haVe an OFFLINE mode which you can activate by going to settings then phone profiles. The phone even works without a sim.

B2100 has a poor screen resolution 120 x 160 nokia 2700 has a 240 x 320 pixels with 3.5mm audio jack which you can use Creative EP630 or the Philips SHE9551 . Nokia wins here but for the durability I will go for Samsung B2100. Go to a shop and then try both of them then decide. Please let me know what did you buy.

IT HAVE OFFLINE.IT WORKS TOO... but in nokia we have flight mode.. if that was enabled when somebody called we gets a reply that the customer is out of coverage area...in offline mode in samsung we gets the reply that the phone is swithed off... (it was a trick that i tought lots of people and atlast they tried that at me...so now a days i dont teach all the tricks to evrybody.....

I own the B2700. GREAT phone and will take anything from a drop to submerging into water. In some reviews of the B2100 I found that apparently the B2100 is still preferable (even though has less gadgets) due to it's more robust software. it is true that my B2700 sometimes crashes. So, if I would buy a new one I would go for the B2100.

In case you are looking for a no nonsense phone and long lasting this is the one. I don't have to worry about water for I have put this phone in a tall glass of water for 5 mins and checked. This phone has not been reliable and service centre is unable to fix errors. I have had this phone since November 2009 and the menu is quite complicated. Issue that firmware update wasn´t able to fix was that sometimes caller on the other end heard my voice badly. After a reset the phone works fine for a while but the same problem occurs again. The phone has been in service twice and now they´ll give me a replacement. This phone is still much less of a "tough phone" as was Ericsson R250 or Nokia 6250 and considering how many different problems people have had with this Samsung it is definitely not worth buying.

I looovee this phone! Go on and buy it! I used the torch in lighting my way up mt. kanlaon. It worked wonders! The torch so far is the brightest of all phones with flashlights. You can even guide ships with this thing's torch. I love the music player because its background equalizer is accurate. Its camera is even clear for a low priced phone. I use its camera for taking snapshots of sceneries. Its torch can be turned off even when the keypad is locked but you have to unlock first before you turn on the torch.

Got the phone 3 month ago in malaysia , worked like a charm till 3 weeks ago , LCD started to Blink and turned White after it , now in Service Centre :-( a few days befor this problem , i had taken it to a Beach alongside my Waterproof Olympuse Camera , after the trip there was some moisture behind the LCD , i guess the water has gone inside ... USB cap was always Closed perfectly during this time , so it's not about the port or battery cover , the phone is not Bullet proof as i was expecting. Sorry for my poor english.

Been using this phone for some time now and think it's a great phone but I do have one issue, which I find a bit of a disappointment considering this is targeted as an outdoor phone, and that is the screen display. I find the screen impossible to read in bright sunlight no matter what the LCD brightness is set at. Any others had the same issues? Other than this it's a fab handset and the best battery life to come out of Samsung yet (in the phones I've had anyway) unless of course the light accidentally turns on in your pocket because you forget to lock the keypad.....

This mobile has the strongest flashlight of all cellphones with flashlights! I never expected it to be that powerful, in fact you can use it in total darkness without hassle. Its music player even can play for houyrs without sucking too much power and it has a setting where you can put an equalizer background that is accurate. I used its flashlight in mountain climbing Mt. Kanlaon last week. Very useful!. Its torch can be turned on when the keypad is not locked. Its NOT true that even when the keypad is locked, the torch can be activated.

The Samsung is definitley better than the nokia 6303! The user interface of nokia is too BORING and the samsung b2100 user interface has a high tech snappy feeling. Its screen is even bright. It has high tech music player with nice equalizer. All nokia phones have a same, common user interface.

@Tough Phone I estimate the light from our B2100 to be around 6 lumens. This is basing it from my 9 lumens (minimum power mode) Fenix LED flashlight. And yes it does offer one of the best mobile flashlight beams I've seen so far. OT, those "LED Lenser" lights from Hahn Manila aren't really very good. I have a hunch your B2100 will outlast it by several years.

I just bought a GREY and Black model at SM Cebu City, Philippines Junrex for Cash Php 5,975.00. Inserted a 4 GB Sandisk card. Very handy. The most important thing - the LED flashlight is VERY BRIGHT. It's even brighter than my dedicated LED LENSER flashlight. Very rugged and tough build. The price does not hurt my budget. I feel very safe and secure that if I drop this thing, it will not break easily. Basic phone I use as a backup. Until I buy the Nokia E72 whose price has now gone down from the stratospheric Php 21,000 to just over Php 18,000. I highly recommend this phone. For its features, five stars out of five.

Samsung b2700 wasnt successful because of its poor performance. Its battery life can last for merely a day which defeats its outdoor purpose. Samsung b2100 can last for up to 3-4 days with standard use which they have improved. I think that b2700 has features fit for outdoor use like digital compass, altimeter and also a flashlight but due to battery's poor performance and it keeps on freezing, it didnt become successful. I think they improved the battery life and improved the "RUGGEDNESS" by releasing samsung marine. A lot of people have negative comments about samsung b2700. Samsung b2100 is the better choice because its battey life is meant for not hitting the socket for days plus its handy flashlight which is useful in night adventures in camping. Samsung b2100 has better mp3 sound in speakers and headphones than b2700. Plus Samsung b2100 has an equaliser which b2700 doesnt.

it doesnt mean that if samsung's speakers lack bass, it's not good for music. IT's excellent for music because the sound quality is clear and the high notes are defined. Lg gm200 only has an extra subwoofer which adds the sound quality. Samsung is the choice!

The sound quality difference of speakers of the two are: samsung b2100: loud sound, but lacks a little bass but clear when playing mp3's louder than most phones LG gm200: loud sound, with dolby sound system,rich bass in speakers, also clear sound in short, both phones give excellent sound quality in headphones. But in speakers, the lg gm200 is louder and richer in bass but samsung is also loud and clear but only lacks the subwoofer speaker of LG gm200. In fact, b2100 is good as a music phone. It only lacks a little bass in the speakers because its not a music phone. But if you want a phone with a little extras like a handy torch or waterproof/dustproof/shockproof, then b2100 is good for you because it works good also as a music player because of its lou speakers. If you want a phone that is really intended for music and has a speaker quality above most phones but lacks essential features like flashlight and waterproofness because you only want music, then LG gm200 is for you. If I were you id choose samsung b2100 because both lg gm200 and samsung are in the same price range and samsung works excellent as a music player plus has more outdoor features like torchlight and shockproofness. LG gm200 is only intended for music. Id opt for additional features like flashlight, noice cancellation and shockproofness so GO FOR SAMSUNG because it works above average as a music player because of its louder-than-average loudspeaker. it only lacks a litle bass

With just one touch of a button the light is activated and is VERY bright for a built-in torch. I used it in our recent vacation in Boracay island to go crab hunting in the pitch black darkness. Very usefull! I love the music player which has excellent sound quality especially the loudspeaker which is very loud. The flashlight could be used for: Blackouts or power outages, seeing your way in the dark, night hiking in the beach or the mountains, finding stuff at night, looking at maps, ghost hunting and many more. It has the brightest flashlight beam compared to phones with built in lights because the beam is spotted not spread like other phones like nokia 5500 sport. I didnt submerge it in water yet because i want to maintain its "brand newness". It has a high tech feeling everytime you access the menu functions. In fact with its basic display that all sites claim, it isnt bad at all, it's excellent with its modern UI! It has that high tech snappy feeling whenever you press buttons. The camera is clear enough ,for taking photos of sceneries you find while trekking in mountains like baguio or banaue rice terraces but i dont find it dissapointing. Im wondering y other phone sites are saying that the camera is dissapointing, IT'S NOT! In fact its camera is just right for viewing pictures because a lot of people are used to super high definition cameraphones.They forgot about 1.3 megapixel phones which were considered very high end before. It also has a long battery life, It lasted for 4 days with me with some calling (5 calls) 30+texting, almost 2 hours of flashlight use( when we did crab hunting in boracay in the pitch black) and nearly 30 mins of music player (obsessed Michael jackson fan). You can use the music player so you will forget about your loneliness and fear of ghosts or darkness when you are alone in the dark finding your way home and completely scared because of the silence and use the torch light to guide your way (heee heee im xcited with this phone in dark conditions)

Bought the black with olive drab accents version of this phone. I've had it now for the last couple of days and I must say that I'm quite satisfied with it so far. Did a dunk test and the phone performed as advertised. No water ingress noted, it stayed dry as a whistle. Be warned though, although this phone can be extremely tough, at the end of the day it is still a BASIC PHONE. Got that: BASIC PHONE. The camera and FM radio are just a bonus. Other than that, the features of this phone might as well belong to something from five years ago. If you're looking for a phone with a TV or a microwave oven, then best look elsewhere. This was built for one thing in mind: to survive harsh environments and situations where other phones won't.

hi its been a tough decision to exchange my 2 year old sweet nokia 5300 xpress music for samsung marine @ 4560 Rupees from univercell. I was mainly using 5300 for web browsing and music. When i look the profile at gsm arena for marine, i thought i can use the same opera mini in marine too. But i was to tally frustrated for not being so after i bought the marine. and no software cd, no usb cord supplied in the pack. so iwas not able to connect to internet through mob;le and through laptop (using mobile pc suite). I downloaded several pc suite for samsung c net and others. But the usb modem driver not detected. This time i was totaly brokedown. i thought of exchange this with any other nokia. Univercell offered 3000 rupees only that too after buying from them and that too 2 days old. I felt to trash samsung. In between i had to manually add the setting for airtel mobile office to use web. the default browser is so pathetic than in my old Nokia n gage QD which i had exhanged for nokia n 73 (Oh! my god, i really want to forget that mob... its a piece of .... for 6 months i was in nokia service centre for repairing that one. every time it produced new complaint after every repair, the mobile went to delhi & mumbai from kochi : nokia care person say so: i waited for 3 to 4 weeeks both time the mobile travelled to mumbai and delhi. i bought nokia 1200 in between to use as a spare mobile while my nokia n 73 went for all india tour. in my opinion symbian 60 is a toatal failure , diastrous for people who buy it, extremly lucky if those mobile are trouble free. NOKIA 5300 express had no complaint. except the broken link of the slide conneccter cost me 650 rs. Nokia sysbian 40 is the only relaible software they have. THEY SHOULD R&D MORE ON SYMBIAN 40 ONLY. And finally i get rid of the n 73 @ half price i bought in 7 th month. ) coming back to samsung... and there was a problem as other readers says here (unexpected shutting down issue with the low batter indicator and on the restart showing full battery). i was not detected it was an issue for somedays. only when i try to use operamini it was an issue. but the opera mini was not wroing etall : it was showing an error LIKE SERVER TIME AND MOBILE EQUIPMENT TIME MISMATCH. what the heck. so when i contacted samsung care shop. they said u can't use opera mini. that was the issue for mobile shuttting down. ok i uninstalled all third party apps. and used pathetic default web browser for two three days. bUT THE SAME COMPALINT HAPPENED. sO I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR 5 MIN. And unexpectedly they given me the new battery and said if the caomplaint pahhens again we will replace mobile itself. Remember i was not aware of the samsung and lg service procedure. Only heard of them. Beacuse i was ever used mobile phones other than nokia,. And the new battery is running great. No issues untill now, it ran for morethan 4 days with medium usage of 2 to 3 hrs per day on net browsing on the samsung browser , music, call. Still i was not able to use it as usb modem because of the wrong software. so I tried the software fiven in samsung site for samsung b 2100 . New pc studio installer , File verion 15.0.0.591, setup_1.1.2.IC7_6.exe around 90 mb. For some reason it didn't work on my vista lap. I installed it on windows 7. AND HIT THE JACKPOT. MAKESURE AFTER WINDOWS 7 INSTALLATION (B4 U UPDATE, B4 U INSTALL ANY OTHER APPLICATION U INSTALL NEW SAMSUNG PC SUITE. OTHERWISE IT MAY NOT WORK. MAY BE IT AWS NOT WORKING BECAUSE I HAD NOKIA PC SUITE INSATLLED IN VISTA. IN WIN 7 I HAD INSTALLED JAVA SOFTWARE IN LAPTOP PRIOR TO THE SAMSUNG PC SUITE INSTALLATION. sO NOW I AM ABLE TO USE THE B2100 AS A USB MODEM WITH AIRTEL MOBILE OFFICE. AND THIS MOBILE OFFICE SERVICE PROVIDED BY AIRTEL IS THE CHEAPEST UNLIMITED INTERNET CONECTION ( @ 1500 PER YEAR) IN INDIA BY ANY SERVICE PROVIDER TO MY KNOWLEDGE. EVENTHOUGH AT A SLOWER CONNECTIO SPEED , GPRS AREA 48 KBPS in downoading u get aroung 5 to 7 kbps. EDGE AREA 126 kbps in downloading u get around 10 to 17 kbps. This is only in postpaid. In prepaid connection it goes to 4500 rs per year for the same thing mobile office. ( u better take postpaid 200 plan and internet so it will come to 2400 + 1500 = 3900 + some taxes will be around may be 500 rs . AT 4400 rs u will get postpaid connection plus a year internet connection in postpaid. At 4500 rs uget internet connection only in prepaid ... which is better . u think. So this is a fraction of my mobile life. CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ANY WORKING THIRD PARTY MOBILE WEB BROWSER IN B2100.

Great news guys if you are a hyderabadi.. univercell is giving away original reebok goggles along with this mobile... they say that the goggles themselves cost you 5000 but they may be around 1500-2000 in market. still it's a good deal for 4450Rs.. aint it.. i was tempted to buy one.. but then decided to wait for the launch of 3g services in india and then go for a 3g mobile.. what say.?

I have had 5 B2100 in since August 2009 , fortunately Samsung has been caring enough to replace them each time under the OBF conditions. The problem I had is exactly the same as many of you have experienced here. The phone suddenly dies while on call or when using the walk n talk headset. The last phone , # 4 or 5, developed amnesia and forgot the words I saved to the dictionary , it also managed to call the wrong numbers while dialling out. This occured on numerous occasions. I returned the phone only to have it OBF'ed again. This time I specifically requested an alernative phone as this would have been the 6th B2100. Well the sales assistant at Vodashop told me they arent willing to do so as samsung refused them permission. She even had the audacity to blame ME for the numerous phone failures. (I ask , why did they OBF the phones then).Judging by your reports it seems it a problem the world over and not my fault! Karl South Africa

I jst bought it with abt 142usd frm Malaysia. Well it's a great looking phone and construction is really sturdy. My phone comes with an orange strip not as shown on internet with red stripe. as i booted up and entered the language set up, my phone hang up and couldn't do anything else. so i jst pushed the power button and shut it down and reboot, the phone came up well to the home screen. and i tried other settings which they all went well but when ever i try language set up, the phone freeze. anyone encounter this problem? and any ways to solve it? the features are all good enough and especially i like the flash light. display a bit low resolution that u will get good looking wall papers and photos. video also is a bit jerky and it wont' play some clips that my previous d600 play. anyway i don't care those much as i bought it for it's roughness to use as second phone. usb data cable is not included in sales package which is disappointing. there is only one multi function port for head set and charging cover with a rubber flap but it's not sealed well enough that i doubt how it can prevent when submerge or use under the rain. it's jst like normal flap frm other phones and not constructed well enough like back cover. so, if anyone know abt this lid's water sealing ability, pls let me know. buttons are a bit stiff but it's ok for a rugged phone. so far i am really happy with phone. if u want slimmer phone for both rug and casual use, go for nokia 3720 which is not as rug as b2100 but twice expensive.

In this phone if you use 32K SIM card works properly with "Contact" feature. But if you use 62K SIM card you need to upgrade the software. Yes! The radio CAN be heard without putting the earphones to your ears. But they must still be plugged in, as the earphones act as the radio's antenna!

I am a member of a Mountain Rescue team in the UK. I had been looking for a rugged phone which would survive knocks, bangs and soaking. So far this phone has fitted the bill. I have found it relatively easy to use with gloves on, speaker feature is useful. It lives on the outside of my kit and was subjected to a serious downpour last night. Battery life seems good, and the torch feature is useful. It would probably get me "off the hill" if all other lighting had failed. I will probably never use the fm radio, WAP features, multiple ringtones etc. For voice and text this seems to fit the bill.

liked the phone. But there are some drawbacks. 1. When we are speaking holding the phone against our ear, the torch light or the min and max keys get compressed. 2. Shifting between the input methods, T9Abc to ABC to abc is a pain in the a** when typing a message. 3. The square and steel smartkey selector/menu selector is not user-friendly. 4. Without a coin, we cannot open the back cover. 5. There are no good themes 6. It does not have a buil-in flash.

its bought not brought. hehehe (joke), The sound is good loud enough but only headset made by samsung is compatible. The screen is a bit small (1.77inch)compare to nokia 3720 which is 2.2 inches. The text font is small and thin 5 lines of text, 1.3mp not as good as the 2mp of nokia 3720. There's no memory card in the sale package. It's nice to hold, durable splash and shock resistant. Go to mobile shop and try to hold both of them or even try it then decide. For me i'll go for nokia 3720 but the audio jack is 2.5mm. One more thing B2100 text alert tone is changeable unlike other samsumg phone. Buy now!

Mmmm... Only problem I had was taking the B2100 to 0.7m below (5-8mins) water surface and it swallowed significant amount of water between screen and cover, it did NOT die, but it was quite a pain to get the water out... it is/was quite waterproof. Only side-effects are that there is some waterspots on LCD behind cover... So it survived but I don't think one should see these phones as waterproof to 1m as stated. "accidental" immersion sure. Water did not go in via powerport or battery cover... suspect speakers or lefthand buttons. Like the phone nevertheless

(u know indian monsoons). further the battery backup is quite decent. (three days with average use). loudspeaker and earphones are both good. flashlight is quite strong and bright and u can trust it completly in darkness (even in rains!). all in all if u really dont look wll after your phone, this is the one for u.

I got a B2100 one month back from univercell in pondicherry...there was a peculiar problem...when i am on the call suddenly the battery indicator will give a battery low alert and the phone switches off..when i swith on my phone again it shows full battery ...it repeats when i am again on the call..I took this phone to the samsung service center and one Mr.Sumesh who sits there promptly attented to my problem and gave me a replacement certificate which i produced to the univercell and got a replacement...The funny thing is that the replaced phone is also giving me the same problem...again i took it to the service center and they tried reinstalling the software but no improvement....what do i do now...though i love this phone for its other features i am helpless and unfortunate to abandon this phone and advice others not to buy this phone since the same problem occured 2 times simultaniouly ...if any samsung techies come across this comment pls mail me and give me a suggestion .... thanks [email protected]

Have used it for about 2 months until it was broken. Lowered it in water for 10 s in 0,5m water and than there was water in the phone. Samsun (Sweden) wont give me a new becuase in the manual it says that you are not supposed to lower it in water.

This phone is with 7 MB of internal memory. Try to set up instalation file of any program on memory card, and than try to install it. Because if you do it on internal memory it will occupy operational memory. When I bought this phone with full battery I spend it like this... I turned on torch and it last 6 hours. I recharged it, and one line of battery lasts about 30 hours with 5 min torch, 30 min music, 10 min of conversation. It is my forth day from recharging, and i still have 3 from 5 battery lines.

not sure why anyone would spend good money on a phone and then intentionally drop it in water, run over it, drop it etc. just because the phone is made to a tough spec doesn't mean it can be abused for the sake of abusing it. if you drop it on the job, or fall out of a kayak with it, or any other accidental mishap, it is designed to continue working. try that with your nokia. that's exactly why i gave up on nokias. each time you subject your B2100 to that kind of punishment you are weakening it so that the next time it may not come out of it so well. showing off to your friends by calling your phone while it's in a sink full of water is asking for trouble regardless of how well the phone is made. good luck.

my dear freind jus assign "create message" to any shortcut key.....simple to do so go into phone setting. to add people to ur group: first of all create a group.... then go into ur phone book n browse to the person u want to add than click option - edit - here u'll find the group sign(below the ringtone sign) jus click on it n it will show u all the groups u have created jus add this person to watever group u want.

A phone is not a computer, so I do not expect superior browsing quality from a phone, but definitely do expect very good voice call quality. B2100 does have good voice quality, and decent music player experience (again, a phone is not a music player). If you live in a hot, and humid country, where chances of sweat reaching your phone in your pocket are high, then this phone is for you. I am from India, this phone makes a lot of sense. Secondly, if you have kids in the range of 1yr through 4yrs., then this phone is definitely for you (how many times has your kid daughter, aged 1 and half yrs. put your cellphone in her mouth? :)) Having said that, if you are looking for a all-in-one mobile, so that you can save money on a laptop, or on a good Canon digicam, then probably you need to look elsewhere. ;) The phone does take a good beating, and is surely waterproof (tested by submerging it in a bucket of water for about a minute, and then making a call to it while in water). -Amarendra

I bought this phone just to use as a phone, and it does that pretty well. I wanted something waterproof, shockproof, and small, with long batterylife and few bell/whistles. It does that VERY well. If you want lots of features, however, look elsewhere. Love the flashlight.

I've just bought the phone and have a few questions. Does anyone have advice on the undermentioned? I don't find the phone very user friendly in terms of: 1) To creat a new message takes "long". Go to contacts, options, send message, message...with my previous nokia phone it was more simple. 2) When receiving an sms I first have to unlock the keypad before I can view the sms...can I change this setting 3) I have not been able to add a member to a group. I've been able to create the group but not able to add any members. Any advice? 4) I am able to send a namecard but it arrives as an attachment on someone else's phone who then can't open the attachment? Maybe I'm still an old Nokia fan that still needs to be converted :) but I think some of the functions on the Samsung take too long to activate/use! Would like to hear from people who own the phone.

hi, i had speaker prob with this handset, since purchase, even software upgrade did not work.It had warranty, I contacted a higher up in samsung, they replaced the handset, 15 days. One of the few handsets which are made in Korea. Call quality is very clear, speaker phone is low.All ringtones sound good in it, vibration is good, screen resolution is low end. Nokia 3720 has better specs, but less water resistance, you decide, whether to use in the rain or to swim with it. I dont live near the sea or swim, rain proof ,dust proof,good call quality,battery life,torch will do for me. The centre key is a bit hard to use, gives pain to the hand...

Yes, it is possible to use contacts provided by Outlook - attention, its listing the names as saved in the field "Save as ..". But the Samsung PC Suite is a rather tricky software-item. Not to say it's a piece of ... Well, if you like to use your calendar-items, just forget this phone. NO possiblities to change the alarmtone, except you want to change it item by item. Ridicolous! But to make/get some calls its very stylish. I will keep it, because I'not gaming, not using calendar or the internet - it's just a TELEPHONE.

I have this phone from t-mobile/HU They managed to change the middle button so it does not take to WAP but to the menu. This is generally - as far as I read the opinions - the only problem with this phone, so I have a perfect mobile.

Just try to shake it or simply take and hit phone against your leg, it might remove the grit/residue and everything might start to work just fine, its shockproof after all ;)

There might be some grit/sand in speaker, thats why it could sound like that, i had this problem after swimming with my phone, maybe water leaves some residue on the water proof membrane and causes it some to squeek. Overall great phone, battery is brilliant, love it :)!

I got the phone a few weeks ago, brand new, factory sealed. It is fully charged, but in the middle of a call it beeps that the battery is empty and turns off. When I turn it back on I got full battery sign. I play music, turn on the flaslight, keep the backlight on for hours, the battery hardly drains. But when I make a call it turns off again. Yes, the phone has a function to lock certain parts of the phone like the messages, memory card, etc. it is quite usefull. In my opinion the B2100 is better than the B2700 because the B2100 has a better batterly life and it looks much nicer. I dont have my B2100 anymore though - it gave me problems after only one week of use. I wont take a chance on this phone again.

I had a bad experience with this phone - my specific phone might just have gotten a software problem but I'm not sure and I wont take a chance with this phone again - every now and then when I received phone calls the calls would be transferred to my voice mail even though the phone was on, I sometimes couldnt make or receive calls or receive sms's and for some weird reason the answer button also sometimes didnt work when I wanted to answer a call - the phone was only a week old, i now changed it for a LG KS360 and i love my LG!

I love my Samsung B2100 Xplorer - I got the phone a week ago and the battery life is great, it lasts me 9 days before i needed to charge it again! The only problem i encountered yesterday was that my phone calls sometimes goes through to my voice mail even though the phone is on and i sometimes dont receive sms's or cant send sms's - i phoned Cell C (where i got the phone) and apparantly its only a network problem so i did some adjustments to my network settings so hopefully the problem is sorted out now. But really, the phone is great and i wont want to get another phone.

I own a M110. excellent phone but I will change it for B2100. It seems that a lot of people is confused and has never been outdoors: - when outdoor you need battery life, you need shock resistance, sometimes you need waterproofing and a small flashlight. - you don't need powerful camera, email, 3G, GPS, Mp3 and other useless features on a phone. if you need that, get yourself an toughbook. B2700 has nearly half of battery life, even smaller than my M110, so it's not an option for me.

Java Yes, MIDP 2.0 I have this phone with a sd card 4GB, so I tried to install java applications...There were couple of problems that I didn't see that was specified for this phone... 1. Although I HAVE installed 4GB card, the folder for installing java games and application supports 4MB and it will not install in any other folder... ?! WHY? does anybody has a solution ?! 2.Ok I knew my space, so I tried to install one java app that was about 350kb, than there was a new moment: JAR file is over max size!!! I got a Samsung B2100 Xplorer on contract & to be honest this is a totally brilliant phone - the battery life is excellent (about 1 week) before each charge, the voice clarity on the phone is superb, the internet service on the phone is super quick and I simply have no problems with this phone. The phone itself is beautiful and very stylish and it has a good quality feel to it. I would definately recommend this phone.

Had the phone a few days now and can't really fault it. Yes, it's a little billy basic and, yes, the battery cover can be a little fiddly to completely screw shut but it's really a pretty good phone for the money. The 'themes' are a little limiting (colour 'Samsung' theme looks like a cartoon) but create your own and you'll be well away. Surprised by the central button=WAP comments - mine acts as an ok/enter and is really useful.

Only had this phone for a few days simple easy to use but the main button goes to wap as others have said so hopefully there is away to change that. Now far more importantly could not resist checking waterproof seal so only tried in a kids paddling pool and no problem , tried again the next day briefly in a glass of water and checked a while later to find phone off and screen misted up. opened battery door would say it was sealed properly and found water so not impressed!

On there�s an English user guide. The battery will charge when plugged into a computer but you�ll need a special cable (S10). I�ve reached 8 days of battery life whith some calls and messaging. It has very good call quality and feels very solid.

Hi Al, have found out they are coming to South Africa next month, so have ordered two !! yay... however your comment about the screen worries me, as we are outside a lot of the time. I have a little Nokia with a colour screen and find that reading the screen outdoors is a reall real pain... can you clarify please thanks

I hate the central button too... It goes to wap... I have a habit from the old phone to enter the menu with this type of a button... :(( The vibration is low...it must be in your pocket to recognize the call, if it is in your handbag you'll miss it...

This phone does *not* have a camera flash. It has a flashlight at the top of the phone, but this is seperate to the camera and doesn't affect the camera in any way (mainly because it's facing the wrong way!)

I got this phone 3 days ago.. PRO: its real..its indestructible!i went to the sea with the phone always with me (even if in the manual thers written that sealed water its not ok) and i went underwater at 4 meters for about 1 minute.. also i've thrown it in the sand, and i placed it to the sun rays for about 5 hours.. in the evening i simply washed it and...like a new phone ! everything works perfectly! something more in deeply..also java works fine,there are games preinstalled...you can customize the pad with shortcuts to your fav applications.. camera also works good, max res 1280x1024.Radio HAS NOT rds, its a common fm radio BUT you can record what you are listening, very useful ! the device also hav a voice recorder, a timer and a stopwatch.. bluetooth works good and samsung new pc studio works great with it.Quadband phone.. it has a torchlight (a led) with a dedicated key.. speakers quality is very good. Battery life its good i've charged it 1 time in 3 days of medium-high usage CONS: i've found just one bad thing with this phone...the central key in the joypad cannot be re-assigned..and when you press it the wap browser will show up.. i hate this ! for any other question write me !

Just got one (in the moment is charging for the first time) In real life it looks more beautiful, but I think that using it on daily basis the red paint will peel itself...I had MP3 player with the same material feel, so I say from experience....

I support your opinions/points,about cell phone industry in general- and i`m looking forward to get my hands on the xplorer! I fiddled about with the 2700,but it was kind of a turnoff-toooo much bells an`whistles. The xplorer makes a whole lot more sense to me. Only problem now: how in darlings name do i wear out my 2,two ! Nokia 5140`s ?? ;)

had this phone a week now and it seems like a good phone.you can change the message tones unlike some samsunngs.ringtones are fairly loud and battery life lasted me 3 days but i was hammering it with all the functions.you should get about a week under normal use.screen is good and the 1.3 camera isnt that bad.texting is easy and call quality is excellent.all in all a good phone for your money.

My mistake. I now have my own text alert :) I meant to mention that the screen is very reflective and in bright conditions can be a bit difficult to read.

with most samsung you can change your text alert, you just need to scroll from side to side when choosing text alerts instead of going down. another thing about samsung is if you press the volume up button on the side while your reading a text, it zooms in.

I got this phone from Play.com for �100. I have broken every other phone I have owned while working in construction. I've been very impressed by it's ruggedness so far. The features suit me perfectly. Voice memo, Bluetooth, Music Player, Torch, Great Battery Life, Excellent Background Noise Reduction, make this an ideal phone for me. There's no need for GPS or a fantastic camera in a mobile so inexpensive. They have put in pretty much all they could on it, and it performs pretty well. Only gripe is that like most Samsungs you can't have your own text alert.

We have just got these in store and I have to say, I've been waiting for this. Everday I have people saying they need a hard wearing phone that makes calls and text. I had to say the c702 up until this which is a k800i in a new shell. This is very tough and we have given it a good beating and it's done really well. I have waited for a phone like this and am glad it's here.

How can anybody say this is a copy or a new version, etc, etc. This phone is FULLY waterproof. Some people just want a phone to make phone calls with and this phone should do that better than any phone previously released. Would have been great to have had GPS but if it was to sacrifice the strength of the phone (and end up like the SE phone) then it would have been pointless. I want a phone that I can trust to make phone calls no matter what. This is that phone and I can't wait for mine to arrive.

Anybody compared it with the XP3? That's the only real rival I think. IP-57 for both, MIL-STD 810F for both. The xplorer looks more softcore - fashionable with the better screen, camera, memory, etc. Lets wait and see.

I just feel Samsung missed out on a new market by leaving out GPS. The only phone that comes close is the SE C702. For people who love to go out adventuring like me, this phone isn't much use to them. As it is now, this is just another average nothing-special "tough" phone, and there are already lots like this. It's also gotta be said there's no way the standby is 600 hours in this...25 days? No chance...the one I've tried doesn't last more than 3 with minimal use!

Within 2 hours the fully loaded battery is drained. Mobile-GPS goobles up battery-juice like crazy. As for the 1.2MP + video; well thats really more then enough for memory/explanation-help. Add to that voice-rec and notes. Add micro-SD, MP3 & radio, alarm, loudspeaker, bluetooth file- and vcard-sharing + more. Im getting slightly tired of the current mobile-feature ratrace, and its obsessed concerns about possible scratces and fingerprints. The idea of jumping of the bandwagon at least 5+ years ahead, with a durable brute phone like the "2100 xplorer" seems more and more tempting to me.

Why do you need GPS on a phone to make it a true "adventure" phone? I mean, it�s got the perfect features like to be an outdoor phone, dust, shock and water resitant, even water proof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes! it�s supposed that, if you are into this kind of activities, you are gona have a TRUE GPS set, like a Garmin eTrex H series, wich is specially designed for this kinda activities, and is much more powerfull than any built-in GPS from any phone set. Besides, going outdoor and using your phone as a GPS you will only waste the phone�s battery in vain, and when the battery�s over, you won�t have neither the phone, neither the GPS. That�s why there�s no GPS.

You don't know what you're talking about man at all! It seems that you don't understand much about mobile phones. Nokia does not have any model that is fully antishock and that gives you the oportunity to throw the phone to the water and for more than 1 meter and 30 minutes long. Besides it has capability of memory card and a good screen. The battery may be not to good compairing to Nokia's Phones, but as a AntiShock Phone it is pretty Good. Go Learn and then you may talk.

I can not understand why they have put on market this model... If you compared with the older model B2700, this one is weaker.
