When I call a person from my recent call log it takes me to a wrong person but showing the name of the person I call. But when I check the dialed number it shows the name of the person that i acuity needed to talk but his number has changed to the one I actually got to talk (the wrong persons number) This is really annoying and sometime its very embarrassing also. Once I got a call and it show a name of Person A but the call was from a Person B Can anyone help me please ... thanks in advance

I absolutely love this phone. Especially the ring tone that I have 'The Cat Dance'. It cheers everyone up. I have mine over five years now and it's still working away. I love the keys as the lettering is very easy to see. I will be really upset when it finally 'dies'. I would love to get another one. I have newer replacement mobiles but I'm still using my E700. Please bring it back on the market.

I bought it approximately 4 years ago, when it was first produced. I still use same phone and I think it s a wonderful phone. If you need just calling and sending messages it s a classy designed ideal phone. Once I paid 20 Euro for repairing about a screen problem. If it s possible I would buy a new one after this one has been broken down. Also it s very useful.(get messages and calender with one key)

Very bad phone quality. Quick tipp: If your screen is blank, close it again and make a photo while closed and then the screen should work again.Problem!: You have to do it every time your want to use the screen.

My original Samsung E700 'died' two years after I purchased it on my vacation in Spain. Due to the sand, I thought. I was so naive. Of course, incredible beautiful phones like these are built to last for only two years. Why else whould you buy a newer phone? Long story short: when my Sony Ericsson K800i didn't recharge anymore in the end of last year, I dove on eBay and got myself a refurbished Samsung E700 from Hong Kong. And thus the most beautiful phone ever built twirls in my hands again. So while I'm sure the E700 won't last longer than two years again, there is a lot to love about this phone. The outside of the phone is just incredible sleek, with a stylish darkblue line breaking the metallic bodycolour. It flips easily, it's got great buttons for calling and sms-purposes and it's still equiped with that sweet little VGA-camera. You could just call it poor now. The callsound, speaker and the amount of functions too are quite pover for todays standards. Back in 2004 however, the E700 was top of the bill. If you too had great memories shared with the phone, you should consider to look on eBay. It's worth it.

i had a E700 3 years ago but within the first year of using it, i had it repaired for 4 times already because of the LCD connector something. my cousin bought one also and at least 3 other of my colleagues at work. they encountered the same problem. now the other unit my cousin bought is still functioning after he changed the LCD twice and changing it is costly. lucky me coz i emailed samsung philippines about it and presented the documents from the service center. they exchanged it with a Samsung E720 which i am still using right now. I have no complaint about it. it is very dependable although the rubber portions are already worn and deformed and had to be removed. i really appreciated the move of the samsung representative who was very polite and kind enough to give me another phone. plus, the local dealer here in bacolod city offered a free mp3 to go with it. my only regret is that my cousin has to spend for the LCD to be repaired and the units that my colleagues bought which they were only able to used for a few months.

Great for it's time, spent 400+ euro for it in 2004 and very happy with it. Still use it to this day as my main phone, but it's lack of BT and gprs incompatibility with new service provider makes me look for a new replacement. Batt life went from about 5 days between recharge when new to about 2 or 3 days now.

Well a lot of u have the problem of white screen, i have a black screen problem. 2 days ago i opened the mobile and found the screen black. 1st i thought it was off but after restarting it same problem only the front LCD was working.So i switched it off hoping it would b fine after some time. but same problem till now. now i also have the white screen sometimes but remains black when i open da mobile. i tried 2 see if i da screen worked at any angle. i found out that it worked in 45-55 degree angle, sometimes normal and sometimes too bright. now i will have 2 give it 4 repairing as i have no warranty.it is goin to b costly and i will have 2 pay 4 it because my dad will kill me if he knows.

The phone has now decided to only give me the name of who is calling me OR the name of who is messaging me, depending on how I entered the number...ie if I entered the number as given to me, it goes to call option and I know if they call me, but only get the number if they text me. If I entered their number when I recieved a text, I continue to know when they texted me, but not if they call me: number only. now I need to carry everyone's numebr around in my head: v difficult. I have tried saving everyone to phone rather than SIM...same problem....any one else have this problem? Could nice person from Samsung give help? Thanks

i have had the same problem as every one else exept mine has seemed to last longer...as this phone as been passed down 3 timesthrought my family i just recived it after losing my new phone...and has been working fine for about 4 months untill last week the screen went white and now the keypad doesnt work, its now just a useless...the onlything i can do is turn it on and off...is there any point in trying to fix it or should i just get a new phone...

I fell in love from the time I saw the mobile in the shop. Got mad to buy, even though it cost me alot. During the first 12 months I had no problems with it, but after the camera and the screen started to give problems. It became white and I couldn't use it anymore, I was so annoyed! Now it's been over a year since I did not use it, but I'm missing it alot, and in the same time, it's not worth it arranging it. What a shame! Even friends I know who bought it had the same problems.

well the problem you all mentioned(the display goes white,or camera is not working etc) appears because of the flexible band in the phone....I know...we repair lots of telephones of these with this problem.....they always go wrong....this phone is not really worth....although its' colours and sounds are beautiful...

2 Years past...Still working good, no problems at all!!! Compared to other color phones - more and more faster phonebook and menu than even Nokia. Sound - the best, with some trick u can use mp3 as ringtone, personal rings to names, camera - the obsolete deFacto standard of mobile cam, why to pay more fo MegaPixels and get bigger and equal part bigger noise and sucks colors. If youre pro-sumer - buy PCB133LBE cable and make your E700 as you wish - even Windows mobile Edition Style. The Be-e-e-e-est from classical Samsung - first with internal antenne - first with best MobiCam, First with best TFT Display. This phone is the legend and some day will be in Samsung Museum of Arts!!!

well it has been 2 yrs(wen it was just launched in my country) that i have been using this phone!i must say that it is a gud 1 with gud features though the screen burst after using it 4 1 yr but after i changed the screen,it is working fine since then!the sound n cam are the best features that this phone has!no other phones can beat the pic quality it got!i wont be denying that it got its own share of problem but come on pple which phone doesnt have any prob?samsung rocks n this week am going to pamper myself by getting an all new samsung mobile!

This phone was quite good for the first 18 months or so. Now I am experiencing problems similar to those in these posts. My battery will not last more than a day or two and the main display has gone all white. The brightness and contrast have killed the display almost to the point where I cannot see it unless I view it from an angle. My next phone will not be a Samsung. Once bitten twice shy.

I get the opinion that a lot of users expect to be able to drive their cars over the phone and still expect it to work. I cannot follow the complaints but I can say that my Samsung is still working perfect, it plays tunes and displays my Logo and lets me take fair quality photos which I can download with the data cable. For good photos I use a proper camera, the E700 is a phone - for speech.

The Samsung E700 was my first phone, I really liked it apart from some annoying things like the crap resolution on the camera, and the fact that the camera activation button is on the outside which resulted in a LOT of pictures of the inside of my pocket, and the way sms messages in progress couldn't be saved when answering an incoming call, but I could put up with these things! The fact that the phone completely DIED exactly 2 years after I got it (starting with the LCD screen going) will put me off EVER buying another Samsung product. It was an expensive phone! I don't agree with the "disposable" attitude some manufacturers seem to have...not good for consumers or the environment! I just wish I had done some more research before deciding on that brand...Buyers beware!

I've had this phone for 2 years now and the screen has gone bust twice already! Once when i just bought it and the second time just recently. Judging from the comments in the forum i guess this is a common problem. Such a shame for Samsung they make beautiful phones but with crap quality. The Samsung e700 is an excellent phone that has great aesthetics and a good range of features. Like many phones, it has a fair share of problems \ errors, especially the dreaded "message preview error". The error is usually attributed to a fine wire behing the screen snapping, not the camera itself. The problem can be fixed by replacing it, which means buying a new LCD screen, as it is connected directly to it.

the phone is one of the most beautiful ever... and thats about it. i've had it for about 6 month, and i got no problem with it as a phone. its quite great actually, the batery lasts long enough, good signal and stuff, but other than that its stupid. camera aint satisfactory, no voice call and the menu isnt very userfriendly to search for contacts. anyway, i recomant it only if you want to use it a phone. it totaly sucks considering all other features.

Yes, when i bought this phone is was very pleased with it! but after a year more the phone got crazy, the battery was up. When i want to charge him up the screen was al over white, besides i got a new phone that's a not a bagger like this one. sucky samsung phone the E700 , most of the people E700 are already died out! But yes hope that samsung have fixed that problem! Very funny it was the phone died after a year more! When the guarrantee also have a year! i have this phone at the mo and i can say it is good. it has beautiful design, great camera, two LCDs, but these phones have short lifes. i have my phone from a year and a month ago it started with errors. first phone book, after that camera, and a week ago it stopped working. i dunno why is that [i have 3 other phones all are still "alive"] be carefull with this phone and if u can take another model of samsung. this is not the best.

A few good things about this phone it takes and save the picture at the same time doing that in about 0.4 of a second and you can have the view finder for the camera on the external screen by shutting the phone and holding down the camera button plus this phone USUALLY work quite fast it only wieghs 94grams and it has an allright clarity screen...

this is a great phone, and although ive heard many people complaining about errors and malfunctions, etc, my phone has been dropped countless times (on tiles, i might add), and the top is held together with super glue from when my brother threw it at the mantlepiece in a tantrum. strangely enough, it still works great!

This phone sucks so much it sucks vacuum. It's another case of a bug infested first-try phone... The clamshell design makes the data connection cable between the screen and the main part VERY fragile and I've seen a lot of defective E700's with this problem, including my own. After 1 year of normal use it won't even communicate properly with network anymore. Camera gave up after 7 months. By FAR the worst mobile I've ever had and a shame for a company with such a good reputation of producing quality products.

I love my phone so i try to change the LCD, but here in Malaysia it cost me about RM250 (USD62.00 approx.)It is a gud fone relying on the picz quality but the IR regretfully can only send & recieve contact.

I am getting that preview error aswell, but closing the flap to 90 degress and selecting take photos seems to stop it, you have to do it each time though?? Mine may not be a serious as others or could be a bit of luck but give it a go!!

I have used this Samsung cellphone and it's a major upgrade to my old Samsung V200C. The fact that there are decent ringtones is a big bonus. Also there is JAVA on this handset and that games do work.

i cant understand, why when you buy this phone from certain retailers, the usb data cable, which you NEED to transfer photos and numbers etc, isnt included in the package!!!! Its all well having infrared but thats no good for photos. These cables ive seen cost a fortune and i dont see why we should spend �30 on a cable when its cost us loads to buy the handset itself! The only other way in which you can transfer ur pics from your fone to a PC ive found is by sendin an MMS to an email address, but again thats costing 30p or more per pic and when you've got 100 or so photos, you dont want to be using up all your credit for that!!

A good fone to start with but definitely not worth the money!! Spend �200 on it when it was first brough out, what a big mistake that was! And this isn't my first one! I had to change my first fone after 10 days, cuz the camera had already starting packing up. Must admit its been thru the wars, dropped in the sink once, thought it was finished but after bein dried with a hairdryer it worked fine. Been dropped a few too many times, by accident of cors and camera and screen was ok but the strange thing is its just packed up and all i did was open the fone to read a text messgae! Screen has completely gone!! Front display is fine but when you open it, it either flashes a white screen or its totally black. Such a disappointment. My sister bought one exaxtly the same, at the same time and hers went the same way! We've only had it a year!!! Loved this fone when i first bought it. Camera is fantastic quality, good design etc but ive never come across a phone which breaks dwn so quickly. Anyone thinking of buying one of these, my advice to you is don't!! There seems to be a common prob with these phones and thats the screen. Now after a year ive got to go out again and look for another fone and just hope in another twelve months i wont be doin the same thing!!! Us students need all the money we've go for other things! We dont want to have to keep wasting it on phones that dopnt work! Samsung sort it out!!

Is there a conspiracy going on?? I bought 2 E700 cameras 20 months ago from the Link. 1 from Tmobile on 12 month contract. 1 from O2 pay & go which went back 3 times with the same problem before they fixed it. We went to Thailand this year and bought local cards so we could use the phones there. Came back this month and decided to both go on Virgin as we liked the bundle offer. So far both cameras worked fine on any cards in both countries. 3 days ago my wife switched her phone off while she was in a meeting and when she turned it back on again had the white screem problem on the inner display. We were quoted �40 to repair it from a local shop. The wierd thing is I decide to let her borrow my E700 while hers is getting fixed. She put her sim card in my phone and switched it back on. My phone screen went white as well. Could it be coincidence that my ribbon just became loose at exactly the same time? What are the odds of that. I went to the Link where we bought both phones and sim cards from. The shopgirl (who I think was traing to be company lawyer or chief engineer or her dad owns Virgin) almost called me a liar when I told her. In her "4" years experience she had never seen a sim card that could possibly affect two phones. To prove it she put the card in a brand new E720 and showed me it working. I am going to give her the address of this forum to read!! So I will look at this problem logically. I have two identical products (E700) one works fine the other not. I take a component (sim card) from the broken E700 and transfer it to the good E700. The good now behaves in exactly the same way as the broken one. The only common denominator is the component. Could a problem in the sim card have "shorted out the E700 software? Having read a lot of messages I tried to check the cable m,yself first. I took the screws out but I was scared to break the back off. Can anyone tell me how to get the back off? Does the spring clip have to come off first and if so how? cheers for any help anyone can give. Has anyone who has this inner display problem tried the sim in another E700? because I am going to contact Samsung about this please email me and (or) respond on the forum. Bob

I realy regret spending good money on this phone!!the thing has never worked properly from day 1 ! i have to switch it on and off about three to four times before the screen can get activated i've tried to get it fixed been told that its a software problem and no one has that software!! (at least in Zambia where i live)stresses me everyday!

I just got a Samsung E700 off ebay and went to use the camera and got the preview error message. However i got it working by turning on the camera with the phone shut first then just opening up the phone and going to take photos.

Hi guys i've been putting up with the screen problem for a a few months now and will have to unitl the 8800's are avaliable in my country, today i discovered a partial fix for the problem.. this morning i decided to change the wallpaper from a photo i took to an image on the phone and guess what, my screen is perfect now although i'm still getting the camera problem but atleast i can now see the screen 100% let me know if this works.. Well, this is what happened to MY E700, working as a divemaster in thailand I had my phone in the sidepocked of my shorts, and moving equipment to a speedboat on the beach I forgot about the phone and it got weat when I was walking in the water, the phone didnt work, couldnt start it after it dried, a friend told me about this thai guy who fixes phones, so I gave it to him, but he couldnt fix it because he usually handles Nokias, anyway, after careful investigation I saw that one of the pads on the battery was burned, so I bought a new battery and the phone worked just fine, now about six months later my phone started acting weird, the screen was showing everything all distorted and garbled, but then be ok after a while, then after a week or so the screen started to go white, after turning the phone off/on it worked again, and so on until finally it didnt do anythign else but showing white, then the outer display stopped working too, so I had a workign phone without displayes, after reading all the posts here, I thought I should give flashing a try, but last night I was angry at my phone and took it apart, everything looked ok, all chips and the motherboard was nice, except the connector between the motherboard and the lcd which was all green and black, fungus or whatever it was, so I cleaned all the pins on the connectors and put the phone together again and now it works just fine again, its like new, because I cleaned the inside of the windows except the shell which is all scratched and ugly from over 20 months of dropping.. anyway, open the phone, clean the connector and you might be fine, IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A WHITE SCREEN..

the problem about the white screen is because of the bad connection between the mainboard and the display.this happens allot tho the not so well build clamshells after about a year.its the mecanical stress made by the openning and closing of the cell.It's bassicly a bad case of production and concept

Same flickering and later white screen problem as all of you after 14 months. Havy discussion with the shop where I bought it (free on a 2 year contract) In NL there's a law that says that even when the guarantee has expired, you may claim price reduction of repair or partial money back when the product does'nt fuction as 'to be expected in nbormal use'. The 2 years contract strongly suggests at least 2 years of troublefree use to be expected, so.... Result: heavy dispute, ending in: go to court if you want your claim rewarded. I opened the case and noticed a partially cracked flexible between the case and the frontpanel. However, it's a ~60 leads multilayer flexible , one end a 60 pins coinnector (no problem), but the other end a multylayer printed circuit, so no way to (fine)solder some wires. (:-( End of story, other shop, other make. Any other Dutchman that would join for a legal action?

Yeah i have had the same problem with my phone. white screen the letters and menu all wrong the wrong way. Phone only 12months old. it hasnt been droped or anything its in great condition.

I just got the white screen problem tonight. I think it's due to the amount of times a drop it. I showed my dad the problem, and he thought this as well. (He fixes Cameras and comes across this problem in the LCD camera screens aswell). So he's recommended me to buy an new LCD screen, and he'll install it for me. I'll let you know if this works.

Well i sure am glad that im not the only person who has had problems with their Samsung E700! One day my camera stopped working and the screen would go completely white. Now the screen is completely white no matter what. I took it into the Samsung repair centre here in WA, and waited 2 weeks because i was informed that i had to wait on parts? 2 weeks later i return to the store to find out that no parts have been ordered for my handset and that it is corrosion that has corrupt my handset which voids the warranty. I am very very dissapointed that my phone is now wasted and over 200 numbers lost. Any suggestions for what i can do? Please help!

Well guys, since my posting on the 14th of July, where I stated how to temporarily fix the screen so it's still usable as a phone and not a camera, I have finally sent the damn thing in for repair. Friday after charging it, I turned the phone on and couldn't see a thing, the screen flickered on and off. Totally stuffed. I phoned the samsung agents in my area and they said to me to bring it in. They would check if it was "the latent defect" and if so, would fix it free of charge even though the phone is out of warranty. I'm waiting to hear about the outcome. Will keep u posted :-)

Anthony, interesting stories/ theories you have. I guess the main question you have to ask yourself is how does Samsung benefit from bugging its own software so the screen fails after its 12-month warranty? Will they get a commission from the local technician who replaces the screen with a cheap replica from China? Or will they gain more customers as a result of the poor build quality? You can flash your phone with all the cool firmware you want but your screen will still not work. What you need to do, is go to your local phone technician (who secretly works for Samsung!) and get them to replace the screen.

Rather impressed when I purchased it. I am one to be intuitive in the purchase of technology, and decided on the phone as being a good all round choice. All the features were fantastic, it had a camera, it had MMS, GPRS, many other great features. This was in February 2003, on a 2 year contract with my phone company. I'm still on this contract, as there are only a few months left, and I get $60 worth of calls for $60 a month. It just so happens, that in May this year, I opened the phone and Hey Presto! No screen! I had half of the screen visible, though it was back to front. I tolerated it, thinking it may be temporary, and I could deal with it for the mean time. Now, it has gone completely white, no vision at all. My camera still works, so I am lucky there. I have ordered a USB data cable from eBay and have downloaded the latest flash, and am pending the results of this once it is received. However, to anyone wanting to purchase Samsung Technology, I WARN AGAINST IT. They released a TV in the 1980's that had a fuse. Now of course, most TV's have fuses, but this was 'timing fuse'. 100 hours after the TV was used, it blew, forcing a technician to be called out to fix it. How do I know this? My dad was one such technician. How is that for corporate deception? As for phones, my mum had a similar problem on her Motorola V720, the screen went white. People, this is not a hardware problem. In rare cases will the ribbons be of poor quality, my technician father confirmed this when he opened it and checked my ribbon. No faults at all. And it is not a ribbon, when my screen goes back to front, and then switches off. Samsung has placed a bug in the firmware causing the phone to screw up approximately 14-15 months after purchase, 2-3 months after their warranty, forcing you to repair it out of your own pocket. Sound familiar? As for flashing, I believe this is possibly the only way to fix the problem. Buy a cable off eBay, they are about US$7. Good luck, and don't buy this phone, get a trusted old Nokia (My 3310 still works fine after 4 years!).

My screen has recently gone blank and white on camera mode and is brighter than usual on all other menus, and the contrast between the background and the text is decreasing, making it harder to read. When i take photos the screen is just a green blur. Taking the battery out and using the camera reset code has not worked. Even when i pull the screen 90 degrees towards me the display does not show the camera mode screen on it on it. Is there any way of fixing this problem without changing the inner LCD screen, as they are horribly expensive. The outer camera view screen works fine! Please post back :( i cant live without my samsung x~*~sam~*~x

I have had an E700 since October 2004, my ex-boss through it out as the screen was going white all the time. I got the phone working, but the Preview Error msg would pop up whenever I wanted to use the camera. The self portrait cam worked, but that now too has broken and displays Preview Error on the front display. Wierd the way the screen goes white after one closes the screen after switching the phone on. The only way to get the screen back is to close the flap after turning it on, pushing the side camera button, seeing "Preview Error", then flipping the flap open really fast. If you do not do this soon after turning the phone on, this method will not work and you'll have to turn the phone off and then on again. Pile of dog doo, this phone is, if you ask me.

Mengulo, you should try reading previous posts before making silly comments. No one denys that this is a cool, well balanced phone. Yet there is still a serious design flaw which Samsung is failing to acknowledge. Those users who experience this problem are posting on this site to seek help and advice. Hey. Ok, so i bought this mobile just over a year ago. It was all working fine until last weekend. As many have already said, i simply turned it on as normal only to see a white screen. Now it is completly black, nothing can be seen at any angle. So i rang up samsung customer help, but no, they say that the warranty was 12months, and as this has now passed there is nothing that they can do for me. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any options i have left, except for paying the pricey repair bill they were happy to give me? To all who love this phone, do not believe of what other has to say. Some people try to flash this phone with uncompatible firmware and it voids the phones warranty and that is the reason why many problems occur such as screen and power problems and they cannot put back the original firmware. It is the fault of the user who try to flash this phone with uncompatible firmware. So if i were u, leave the phone as it is as much as possible and if not, make sure u have the right firmware. I think the phone is superior in design, hardware and software compare to other brands. Do not deny yourself with this phone. Maybe it lacks other feature but what a heck it sure is a reliable phone. thanks

Mark, you've got the same problem everyone else has. Take it down to your Samsung repair centre and they'll get it sorted out for free if it's still under warranty. I recommend doing what Jonesee says and sell it on after getting it fixed.

Hey guys, yep i have this white screen problem now too, it was so unexpected it's a shame cause i really like the phone but now i have no access to it only to answer calls which is annoying. I've had the phone 6 months now and so i have decided to get it repaired under warranty, then keep it for a month and then sell it on. I can't believe how pathetic this phone had been built. This is a good phone but i recommend you don't buy it, pick something else instead but not the Nokia 7610 that is a poorly built and expensive phone stay away from it.

Albert, the problem can't be prevented mate. Its a design defect by Samsung. The ribbon cable that connects the screen to the main unit gets worn out very quickly for some reason or another. Best advice is to sell it on before you end up with a dead screen.

Just got the white screen fault today after 14 months. My inner screen has now completely died so can't do much accept answer calls. If so many people have suffered the SAME problem than this is obviously a design defect which Samsung is responsible for. God knows how much the technician will charge to fix this :(

Three months out of warranty (15 mths old) my screen went white - there were no warning signs. I had it charging one night, then opened it the next morning and it had turned into a paperweight. Luckily my 5-year-old Nokia was still working... No warranty, so I opened it up and discovered the cabling had become worn - it's just not good enough. No more Samsung for me!

Hi, About the white of flashing rainbow screen, turning all black few days later....: I've got the problem after 14 months of fine operation: pity, out of warrantee said the man, too expensive to repair, know the problem, but no move at all to a coulant solution. I opened (with some problems) the phone and noticed a broken strip in the multilayer flex connection between bottom and lid. (the lowest layer, just one strip, obvously a ground connector ((;-) mobile phone)and repaired it with a thin bypass and some solder. After assy the screen was all white, so I'd solver\d some but not all problems. Checked again and found minor cracks in all conductors of the flex (in total I'd gess 25% of some 60 leads and stopped the opertation. I'm very disappointed that Samsung is not willing to solve this problem at split cost, as it's obviously a design failure of a 1 cent strip. For me no Samsung anymore! (btw: in some countries it's illegal to limit the warrantee to a time period, much shorter than one may reasonably expect (it is in NL, the shop servant recognised, but simply invited me to go to court to get my rights!

hi guys, if your screen turns white you have to bend the screen towards you, app 90 degrees, then the screen will work again, then navigate to the display menu and select a other background, for example bananas.. close the phone and open it again and it will work again. you will have to do this after every time the phone is switched off. good luck!

I have been using the mobile for over a year and a half. Four months ago in camera mode the camera screen initally went all black so i was unable to use any camera at all. Okay I can live with that, after all it's a nice phone. Two weeks ago, I've suffered the white screen affect. It has now become unuseable. It's like walking around with a home phone with no LCD display. Gonna try and get the screen fixed and ebay it off to make some money off it. Good luck to whoever buys my phone :)

Ive had the phone for probably over a year now. And firstly the camera displayed a msg saying Preview error and turned green, and now the camera function doesnt work at all. Then later on the screen slowly went white. After a few weeks it went white all the time when i flipped it open, and i had to turn it off and on to work.. AND now the screen doesnt work at all... so i cant view msges NOTHING at all!!! so once u start getting a white screen, i highly recommend u get it fixed straight away!! all my numbers were saved to the phone and these very important numbers which ive been holdin on to for 5 years or more! and the e700 does not have a function to copy phone memory to sim at all! useless phone! looks good but is shocking!! i dont think my warranty can cover it coz its been just over a year! haha just remember, dont judge a book by its cover! I cant rely on Samsungs anymore, its caused me a lot of trouble and i think i'll stick to the trustworthy and original phone NOKIA! PEACE!!!

i have this phone but the only bad thing about is as a i bought it and walked out of the shop with it set up i accidenlty dropped it on the carpet and it wasnt even high up or anything and the battery clip just smashed off it. so i only had it for ten secs and it broke. and theey would swap it becauyse it was my fault it broke WELL DONE

Had this phone for a LONGGGG time now, from when they first came out and havn't had any problems except no mms....for some reason! However, now 80% of times i get a white screen upon opening and the quality when working is much lower than previously, all things considered it was a good phone, maybe not the best but good. 8/10

I'm using Samsung E700 model for the past 7 months. Recently i'm facing some issues when i had to take some photos. LCD was white and from Y'day it is displaying an error "Preview Error" when i tried to take the photos. Pls feel free to pass your thoughts on this. Thanks for the help.

My screen was white-ish from day one - but not having seen another up untill recently (10 months later) I had nothing to compare it with to know it was nackered - just thought they were generally rubbish (well, I still think that!) I'm going to kill it slowly when I get my new phone :-p

I agree, not happy with this phone at all. Just outside its warranty with 11 months to go on contract and like so many others, screen has gone white and no camera. Not really interested in getting it fixed, although I think Samsung phones usually look really good, I wont be using one again.

All I'd like to know about the phone is, is it possible to change the contrast of images and THEN save the image? So that the contrast changes you've made, would be saved. I know this is not possible to do with the Nokia 6230, wich I'm currently using, so that's why I'm wondering.

Had this phone for a little over a year and i've been very pleased with it. No problems at all, very easy to use, camera was ok for a phone camera. Very nice looking phone indeed. I've upgraded now to the D500 but I'd still highly recommend the E700.

I've had the phone for just over 12 months. The screen has started to turn white for no apparent reason, it gets so bad it becomes unuseable, even when it comes back to life its of a very poor quality. The camera no longer works (preview error) and the battery life is down to about 24 hrs max. When the camera was working i found the images were of a very poor quality compared to other phones, also the auto power facility for alarms was unreliable and only worked around 50% of the time making me late for work on several occasions.

Hi. Well i bought this phone at the end of january, and I have 2 say that I absolutely loved it. But suddenly the screen started going all 'liney' the camera quality that was top class has now diminished. I don't know whats up wit it but considering that its so new I wouldnt have expected a fault quite so soon.

what i hate about this phone is that you can't send pictures via infrared and no bluetooth either.. so i dont know how to have the pictures developed.. gosh.. but generally i love this fone.. even without extra care, it still works good although as some of the people here have mentioned, only white screen appears every time i try to take pictures when it's opened, but you can still take pictures in the front camera while its closed.. i want to upload the pix in my PC but i dont know how to do it, can somebody here help me pls?! tnx =)

This phone is very annoying thus the mms messages don't work propolee like, i know, but yeah, you can't ringtones or pictures via the infared which is quite annoying, but other than that it is a good phone if you like but if don't you might not some how yes but why i know. My E700 has recently been saying that i can't take pictures as there is a preview error. I could take pictures fine when i first bought the phone. My screen has been blanking out. It goes completely white when i take a photo from the side button and try to view it. The screen also goes white when i turn the phone off and on again. Recently the screen has been fading when i've turned my phone back on and hasn't fully gained its sharpness back. These problems have only started to occur and i can see from the ammount of posts about the same kind of problem that the phone is obviously faulty and has nothing to do with the owner but... my warrenty has ran out by about a month so would i be able to get it fixed?? concidering it is a manufacture fault thanks Gilz

samsung always have the best lookin flip phones around. i guess the e700 is a pretty good lookin fone. the sound is really clear and loud and the display is just superb. but as usual no bluetooth which all high priced fones should have. overall i give it a very good!!!!!!

Very disappointed! Purchased phone in australia about a month ago when it was on special. Infrared does not work at all, phone seems to occasionally freeze during picture taking, and every time my friends original samsung data cable is connected the phone switches off, and can only be turned on a couple of minutes later. And how disappointing, when i go back to shops, its been discontinued due to the amount of errors and problems with the phone!

The reason that it makes a noise when you take a picture, and you cant take it off even when the phone is on silent, is because of privacy reasons. Because people won't know a photo is being taken if they cannot hear it, that way if some random person walks up near you and holds up their camera you know that they are taking a picture...

wel..this phone is great! The camera is good quality even when you change it from mobile size to a bigger size! its small and stylish! Ive had it for around a year, but there are a few problems with the phone I found. 1.my front screen broke, it didnt display the time date etc. 2. When I bought the E700 I didnt get a cable or any software to get my photos onto my pc! which i found rather annoying as I have to send them all through MMS which can often cost alot of money seeing as I often send photos to my PC. 3. You cant set recorded sounds or downloaded music as messaging tones, or assign them to callers. apart from that the phone is good, but I cant wait to upgrade my phone because I am fed up with the phone now!

i think the e700 is a great phone but the one problem it has is getting ur photos off ur phone to your pc. they should have put a bluetooth with it, but instead u have got a usb lead that doesent work.

Well, I've had the same problem as some of you. After 9 months of having this phone, my display has decided to fade and the camera, yes, it's a blank white screen. I've sent it off to Samsung today to get repaired. I had to download my pics before sending and I too couldn't do that with the data cable I bought, USB. I was lucky enough to have infrared on my laptap, and that's how I did it. There apparently is a certain cable to use on this phone but I can't remember name, it's the only one that works.

Ive had this phone now for about 9 months and have loved it from day one! Until now... the phone has not been treated bad, has not been dropped or damaged in any way but the screen has recently started looking 'washed out'. The colours are fading and the camera has stopped working with a white screen replacing the actual lens screen display! This is a common fault according to my local mobile retailers and the only solution is to try and use the phone 'half closed' (starts working if you close the clam half way) or send to repair shop. Anyways, Ive paid the remainder of the contract up and changed to the new Sammy E800 which looks even better than the 700. I just hope its more reliable after 9 months! The E700 was a fantastic phone, great ringtones, great screen etc. but Im doubting the lastability of the unit after 9 months...

ok, i've had a quick look at all ur lottle "opinions" about the E700, or i should call them complaints because that's what most of them are... here in melbourne, australia, this fone costs like $900, now thats a fair bit, and i'm sure it will go down in price soon due to newer competition, seriously tho - wat difference does it make whether the picture quality is 95% or 99%???? who cares...bottom line is this fone is excellent, many of my mates have them and they're all happy customers, i myyself have had a fiddle with one and the camera is incredible to me granted, i'm not an "expert" on mobile fones and the capabilities they have...when i see people havin a bitch about resolution it's pretty pathetic...altho the whole MMS thing i agree with, thats definitely a flaw in the model, but this fone aint exactly new either. so i dunno, i've written a fair bit, to summarise; crazy fone, one of the best looking flip fones too. 8.5/10 .... cheers mAzzA

I am an E700 user.I am dissapointed with the fon.I was told by maxis that this model is not able to MMS.I purchased this fon from your dealer.I was not adviced by them.I paid a sum of RM1,500 for a camera fon and not being able to MMS.Now i would like to know if Samsung will refund me.I feel cheated.Please reply soon.

For a while I thought that the E700 was one of the best phones available. But to be honest,...no, it's just not that good as it looks. First of all I miss tri- or quadband frequencies (GSM 850 or 1900). It has no bluetooth and the screen is average. Why? Have a look at a Sharp model like GX20/22/30. The TFT is certainly brighter and clearer than any (C)STN could ever be, but the Sharp CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) is by far the best on the market. I give the E700 a 10/10 on design, and that's probably the reason why it's still so expensive and wanted. But other than that it is just average. I own a GX20 which is cheaper to get (on ebay) than an E700, and has a better and bigger screen (320 x 240px), excellent Picture Quality, Triband (GSM 900/1800/1900), and a torch/flashlight. Unfortunatelly the memory within the GX20 is less, but if you regularly download your pictures via IrDA/data cable it's no problem. Allright, have a good one yall.

This phone is very nearly perfect. All it needed was bluetooth and FM Radio to get a 10 from me on features. For a 10 on performance I'd like to see faster keypad recognition. Entering data via the keypad gets a bit laborious with the slow response time. But all in all, it's a 10/8/9 phone in my opinion.

cool fone, I bought one, then after 4 months I had to return it and they gave me a new one. It was something with the folder, I could only take pictures with the folder closed because the display got all white when I was trying to take pictures with the folder opened. this one seemes to be ok, I think I got a better built one cause it feels more solid. In rest it is a good fone, nice display and all.

i just got this phone a week ago and i love it! this is my first phone that isnt a nokia and it only took me a day to get used to the new keys and menu format. the camera is clear and of excellent quality compared to other camera phones available on the market and you can even take a nice self portrait and use it as wallpaper on the phone. the ringtones sound amazing and the keys are nice and easy to use. its packed with features (calendar, stopwatch, world time, calculator, java games, currency converter, WAP.. u get the point) although it does lack in having a photo phonebook and bluetooth. the size is nice and compact and it is very lightweight- i have no complaints on its design. the internal antennae is convenient and you can attach a wrist strap at the top of the phone. the only dissapointing thing i can pick out is the battery life. packed full with features, the e700's battery gets drained pretty quickly and i had to recharge after just 2-3 days of buying it. overall, if you want a nice looking phone with lots of features and a good camera the samsung e700 is perfect for you!!

I find that E700 is good as in the camera itself only. It does not have any new functions like the video recording or the mp3 player. A more improved version of E700 would be great with more functions included in the phone. I wish in there will be such a phone in this world.

Not true about sending photos, sound files etc... I can do this from my computer to phone and vice versa... I've created my own "sound clips" from mp3, and they work out fine... nice phone, but has some "small" errors that could be corrected - not completely silent when chosen no sound... camera makes sound, and "abort call" make a sound, too. The Alarm funktions has not got snooze which I kind a liked in my old SE... other than this... very nice :D

E700 is quite expensive coz it doesn't have a lot of specs that cheaper phones come equipped with. It only has infrared that only works for sending phonebook entries. It only supports MMF ringtones and has problems with MIDI. Can't send pics via infrared. Doesn't come equipped with software, have to download from samsung. can only assign ringtones that come originally with the phone, wats the bloody use of downloading own ringtones then!!! asides from MMS, which does not come cheap. can't assign pictures taken with the phone to phonebook entries. can only assign group entries with the phone's original ringtone. E700 is crap! better off buying sony-ericsson, cheaper n loads more it can do.

yo! I bought the fone this Christmas from Frankfurt (I`m from Romania).It`s ok, I like it very much, but a couple of days ago, the display got a little bit brighter and I can`t take photos with the folder open, the display is completely white. ok, u`ll probably gona say that I dropped the fone, but I didn`t, I took care of the fone.I can take photos only with the folder closed. I went to a local service (not samsung`s) and I`ve reinstalled the software, but the problem couldn`t be fixed. does someone got this problem? does anyone know how it can be fixed? If I had my software reinstalled, the warrany is still good,no?? The fone has the T Mobile brand on it, and know the menu is a bit diff in colours and some little changes. the fone is cool, but if it can`t be fixed or if I lost my waranty, what should I do? ok i think i fixed it....although i am sure there is something wrong with it. I went to "Incoming Calls"..... then "Ring Volume"... and turned the volume setting to 4 bars AND now it works.... BUT if i set it to anything lower 1 bar or 2 bar... or even turn it to 5 bars i dont get any sound.. very wierd

So guys here is da code to turn off the cam sound: On main screen type: *#8999*8378# --> Test mode H/W test Audio Settings Melody Gain Then replace 6 by 0, it'll show 12 but it's OK Press back until main screen Then press key volume to minimum and let's try !!! no more sound If you want sound back turn key volume to 1 or above and if you want original settings restored, start from the beginning again but change the 0 to a 6. So for those guys who said I was wrong can fuck them-selves!!!

Samsung just keep on bringin' out new phones in such a short period of times. Ist really hard to catch up and get hold on 1. Cause aftr you buy this 1, the next day, a new 1 comes out. Thn that 1 has the nice features, good looks and so on and so on. Its really really hard to catch up. Like my friend always says: "Its better not to have 1 if your so in love with phones and technology. Its just gonna get better and improve even after u die!" Duhh... Like no 1 in this universe has all thousands of mobile phones frm evry communication/electonic brand. But i wish i have. And also, we do want NEW stuff in the market but the flowing of new communication technology is too fast! ( like the flip phone with a color projector and 4.0 MP digital camera built in with photo printer???)

Well im not a E700 nor Samsung user or anithin but i think if you want to turn off the shutter sound, you hve to put the phone in silence mode. (press the # button long)... :)

I wish theres a new version of E700. like with MP3 Player, video recorder, Video streaming, and higher quality external LCD. If you buy the E700 (or the E3200 in Korea) in Korea, you'll get more features like MP3 player, and 64 Polyphonic ringtones where you could convert MP3s to ringtones!!! And theres also SPEED (faster smoother process of moving images) and VOD (Video On Demand), And more!!!! And they also have other colors other than Dark Blue. They have Coral Red, Mettalic Silver, and Pearl White. They also sell it cheaper there too. Especially for Anycall. The current E700 is also very nice but needs to improve the features cause it does not suite the price tag (Expensive!!)

Regarding the issue of not being able to turn off the clicking noise, I think that has got to do with the Korean govt regulations that the click noise cannot be made away in fear of people using the camera to take secret pictures. Luckily I'm using the V200 and it doesn't have this problem! And V200 is pretty cool and metallic too, which I think is more suitable for men! ;)

I have been using since a month now and beleive me its great. I have downloaded many games and pics in it. Its cam quality is da best. I also use gprs on my laptop through it and the speed is great. If it had mp3, flash, mmc, bluetooth, fm, movie recorder it woul have been the best mobile in da world. But as nothing is complete this mobile is da best. I also know how to turn off its cams click noise.

I had purchased a new SGH-E700 before a week. Its a good cell the zoom in it is small. I have seen SGH-X600, it has a more powerfl zoom then E700. Besides that it has a light asswell and E700 does not, though the price difference is much more.

A lot of the things on this phone are good, however, as I am the sort of person who questions what can be improved all the time, this may seem negative, and almost "in search of perfection!" so apologies, but anyway no harm in that is there...so... Battery life : is terrible compared to Nokias (with same software and functionalites) for example a 7250i which easily lasts 3-4 days in similar use to my Samsung - which is around 10 quick calls per day, and around 10 SMS, 1 MMS. The other problem with the battery is that there are only 3 bars, and to make this worse the speed with which it runs out after going down to 2 bars is far too quick, i found that it kept 3 bars for at least a whole day, but once on 2 bars it would go to 1 bar within a few hours, then once on one bar i found that a phone call or a picture message would push it further to empty, this is ridiculous - compared to a nokia which gives so much more warning and has greater stamina. And no!! Besfore you say it.. the battery was charged perfectly as per Manufacturer/ retailer recomendations and am already on second battery as I changed the first one thinking it was faulty due to poor performance! Side Camera button: Whilst this button does prove useful, I have now taken a round 100 photo's from inside my pocket!! come on Samsung - think about it, if your gonna have a functional button on the outside - dont make it such a soft and easy key to be pressed!! Christ - if you people had supplied me with a prototype I would of UAT'd it for you and found all these things that I am sure many other people will come to find a nuisance too !! Okay next up: WAP - this is isnt a design fault, however it is a cheap and typical ploy, that i feel actually doesnt benefit Samsung/Network provider (T-Mobile), instead it merely gets in the way of other functions, and shows at the same time that you are just trying to get people to use WAP too much - So my point is.... why is WAP one of the first options that come up??? For example lets say on "Sound Settings - Incoming calls", why does "More Ringtones" (WAP) appear before my default ringtones? I know which one would be used more, so why have WAP downloads first?? (In patronising tone of voice.....) Oooh let me see now could it be that they cost �4 each? I realise that the network provider maybe responsible for some of these settings, however I am still not impressed (T-Mobile). this leads me onto my next point.... given the above point and how strongly it seems we are all being encouraged into downloading infront of our main phone functionalities... why oh why in Gods name are these expensive (and non-vibrating I might add) downloaded ringtones added to "My Sounds" when "My Sounds" is not a choice I can make when selecting a Group ringtone ???? this is madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why might you ask? (If you are not sure of the obvious point i am making)..... Well, surely the whole concept of ringtones/group ringtones is finding a tone you like, or perhaps one that typifies the group calling you, or perhaps just the individual (if you only have one of them in that group). For example "The simpsons" ringtone for "Family" group, "Match of The Day" ringtone for football friends etc etc. Why should only the default ringtones be available to choose from?? Either "My Sounds" should be an option in "Group Melody" selection - or Downloaded tones should go direcly into "Defaults" or I should be able to move them between folders - the former option making more sense to me. Surely this is just an oversight by Samsung and one I hope they put right it really cant be that difficult can it to do an amendment to the spec and then send out a software update???? I am sure I am not the only disgruntled customer on this point - especially when you consider.... (onto next point) that photos cannot be attached to the caller number. And yes before you all start saying "oh but the front screen doesn't have the resolution ... blah blah blah boo hoo fookin hooo" - yes I appreciate that - however in that case, put it on the main screen inside and give me the option to answer the call via Green phone button (call accept/dial button). I mean to give us poxy little Icons that have about the same level of creativity and resolution as characters I used to have on my old Commodoore 64 is ridiculous, in conjunction with point about downloaded ringtones and group infunctionality, just shows that Samsung are good at the flashy things but the more common sense things they have overlooked. I say this in context of the fact of how they designned the phoned, and its intended use, not in the context of the old school of people who "just want it to do the basics"!! Anyway I feel a lot better after all that rantin and as I always like to finish on a good note - believe it or not I really do like the phone, I just feel let down by the schoolboy error on the camera fault, and the lack of thought given to the group functionalities. and of course the battery, however other than that it is a great phone and I would and have highly recommend it as I do know that no phone is perfect, and that it takes time to get used to having a new phone, especially when old one was a Nokia who clearly are the people who "think" about things properly, watch where everyone else cocked up - and then come along and do it better !! anyway I know I said i always end on a good note but I lied. Oh okay then... overall 8.5 out of 10

If you want to transfer pics to your computer you need to download this program (pims and file manager 31mb) from www.samsunghandphones, they give a step by step guide to setup, just click on the e700 link. good luck

I would suggest users to buy an Innostream 90 instead of this E700.First of all, Innosteram 90 display colour is better than E700.Secondly,the functions are much better than E700.And Thirdly,which is the most important of all is that it is much VALUE FOR MONEY compared to this E700. unfortunately software doesn't come with phone, you have to download from samsung website home page, image editor is about 20ish megabites. there are others too. whole package download is 81meg for e700. a good irda should do the trick (infra red port - except 4 some laptops)i found this very frustrating personally as i had a SE Z600 which was a dream to use with easy gui (graphic user interface) and it connected to my pc for downloads even without the software. e700 has fantastic camera and memory but you can't do naff all with it coz the phone is very unpersonalisable compared to others available (eg the old brick sharp gx1)!! good links 4 e700 from samsung homepage, tones, savers games etc

matt R.E. mms probs. sounds like o2 havn't enabled your mms settings with their server. go to the site to download the settings for your phone,(they should send settings via txt) if that doesn't work then you'll have to ring them (5151 from mobile)to enable mms on your tarrif. Good luck though coz O2 charge 50p/min and provide crap cutomer service on the whole.

I curently own an r715 and the memory is smaller than then the memory of my previous e700 cellphone. E715 has exactly 6708kb (mms+images+java+sounds+voice recorded sounds etc) while e700 about 8.7 . Plus e700 has got dinamical memory so u can store more images or more photos... My question: shoudn't e715 be newer and better. The only minus of the e700 is that they have a flip problem and no phot id... Stupid...

E715 does not have video capture. I own one and it doesnt have this feature. It only has easier acces to voice recording (not only through the mms menu) and picture caller id. Here are some codes to modify mms and gprs settings on t-mobile locked e715: *#87667# - mms *#86927# - wap gprs

to Elessar E-700 does not have any problems at all.The only thing, is that in most of the stores the stock ran out, and it`s not replaced by the E-710, it`s an extension, heavier,with picture caller,video player, but without external oled screen

PROBLEM: my e700's flip mechanism seems weak specialy at its maximum opening angle. For example if the phone is open and u shake it just a little bit the upper shell moves pretty bad, shouldn't it be a little bit more still? This gives me headaches knowing that i paid a lot of money for this my e700; Is it not profitable too change it with a P400? Please help... - cheers

Thank you for your response about turning off the T9 option. It's really annoying because English is not my primary language, Croatian is so when I start writing a message, it immediately goes writing English words. But yeah, I know how to put it into an ABC mode; it's even easier just to press a bit longer top right key, but I was just wondering if it could be turned off permanently. Oh well.

There is no way of permanently turning off the T9, but it only takes 3 clicks of the buttons if pressing the sms shortcust key, top right key then top left key!!!

this can be an annoying phone if your a bloke who carries the phone round in your pocket - the button on the right hand side of the phone is easlily depressed when in your pocket and many a time i have taken it out and found it on camera mode and has taken hundreds of pictures of the inside of my pocket! great. not just that but, if your buying this on vodafone in the uk - beware!! i dont know anyone who has been able to send any pictures yet - may be some kind of compatibility problem????

I just bought e700 but it did not come with any software with which i can communicate between my phone and laptop. I was using s300 before and it came with easy gprs and i could communicate with my phone through IR connection on my laptop. Can anyone suggest how can i go about it ?? Just bought the phone and I must say that E700 is the best phone I ever had and I had a lot of phones. 9 Mb memory , best camera from all the phones , perfect inside night shots , perfect sounds , easy , pretty , no antenna , IrDa , everything except bluetooth , e-mail client and voice functions which i don't need. Connected to PC via Infrared (Easy Studio) can upload and download pictures and music very easy. It is a fashion phone with very good characteristics and I recommend it to everyone.

If you like taking pictures, this is the best choice. I've tested many new cam-phones, includind SE Z600, Nokia 6600, Panasonic X-70, LG 7100... etc. and this is simply the best, even in indoor or artificial light conditions. The menu is easy to operate and a photo and be taken in 2 seconds. It has 9Mb memory to store hundreds of photos. The battery life is not as short as most people expect, even in heavy-duty usage.

I have a Samsung E700 and it's great. 9Mb memory!! That are a lot of ringtones and pictures ;-) For "Kris": buy IR port (not too . expensive) and download EasyStudio from www.Samsung.se. Here you can use your IR port to send and receive foto's ringtones and pictures from and to your E700!! (for you too Pat)_. Battery performance is acceptable, but not as good as nokia or SE. Overall; a very good phone!!

Good phone, but lacks in a few areas. First and sadly no bluetooth, ok i thought, i will try and use the cable - however it turned my phone off and i was unable to turn it back on without the use of the charger, and third and finally it doesnt have any software written for it yet for use with an IR... However, if you arnt a person fussy about customising it, its clean cut display, sleek lines and external display with high res camera makes it a great buy. I certainly am not dissapointed with my purchase apart from the current lack of customisation that you can do to it... Come on samsung, pull your socks up and get the easy gprs software written for it.

compact, sleek, light and very stylish .excellent camera quality with a huge zoom. night mode is good for taking snaps inside but useless outside at night. internal antennae saves the phone from getting stuck in your pocket. all in all its a big thumbs up..

Cant send photo to other mobile, tells them to go to website to collect. if I send via email only the text arrives . NO PHOTO. What a waste of money. If Im doing something wrong perhaps someone will tell me!!!!. Crap screensavers and cant download more. And by the way, anyone planning on using Virgin with a camera phone DONT. Virgin do not support photo messaging.

Hi, Just bought this phone recently and WOW, it's really good and it's camera is excellent. But it does not come with cable and software :-(((. I downloaded Easy GPRS and obtained a Samsung data cable. When connected all the phone does is indicate that it's charging via the PC port!!! CONFUSED now. Don't have an IR port. Anybody please help????
