I feel so confused how to choose between A50 or A8 star. In my country these phones are in the same price range now, but some people say A8 star has better built quality and camera but it lacks dedicated microSD slot (but it still uses SIM 2 slot as hybrid). A50 looks great in battery and chipset which is better in gaming and it has ultrawide camera but lacks NFC.

I'm using last 7 years ago Samsung's product. I have no issues any problems. I do very updated but performance better then last updated. Currently Samsung a8 star using and beated redmi not 5pro,7pro i camper. It's perfectly smartphone. Many security features are in build. Without your permission any one not poweroff and factory reset. If any try to factory reset to without unlock then smartphone goto FRC automatically. Only real user unlock this lock or Samsung service centre.

I got the 9.0 Pie update overnight yesterday. First impressions - it's really great! I'm quite happy that we get the new Bixby, better camera app, night mode, faster app loading and so much more. You can now tap the screen to wake up - no need to press any hardware buttons! I have more free space after the update. Guess what? I can use both sims now on 4G LTE! It actually feels like a different phone now. The update size was about 1.4 GB. Totally worth the wait :)

One of the most reliable phones I've ever had. Tech today has come far enough that you don't need the flagship model. I have the Note 8 along with this and I'd rather use this as the Note 8 is mostly overkill with the specs that you will barely notice making a difference. It's not water-resistant but sure as hell can last longer (3700 mah vs 3300 mah). Simplest phone I've had considering I've used Note 5, S7+, S8, Huawei Mate 9 before.

I own the Korean a8 Star, and it only has Samsung Pay mini. Same from other countries, I have read. Yes, it has gorilla glass (but an older verison) which is almost half cheaper to replace than Note 9.

Just bought A8 star for MYR1050. Good vibrant screen but not as great as note 9 that I owned before. Otherwise it is pretty smooth with occasional hiccups sometimes. Generally worth the money that I have spent. This phone shall be good to be used for few months until S10 comes out

Oh, and I want to update that I found another app that fixes the exposure and focus issues. the Open Camera app is free, and has Exposure Lock and Focus Lock. I'm so happy! Apparently, this is an issue with many Samsung Cameras.

There is NO heating issue. I have no idea why people are complaining about that. I have come to the conclusion that there are people who just want to hate on Samsung, or are fanboys of their particular phone brand. The camera photo quality is very good. The downfall of the camera is that it is missing some ability to control higher functions in video mode. It can record very good quality photos and video, but I have found that even though it has some software image stabilization, the brightness of the video recording keeps ramping up and down with small changes in lighting. I cannot find a way to keep the shutter from automatically doing this (no manual control). This is one thing I dislike about my A8 Star. But for photos, and static video in good lighting, it does very well. Night photos look quite good, at this price point. Selfie photos and "live focus" where it blurs the background around the person in the photo are really good, and I love it. The best thing about this phone is the big color screen. It's very nice for watching youtube videos. I'm not experiencing any lag. I did have to turn my touch screen sensitivity up, because I am using a really low quality screen protector. Samsung phones can balk at those. I purchased a better one, but am waiting to replace it. I am taking some getting used to the Samsung keyboard (and I replaced it with Gboard, which helped a lot). I ran an LG phone for over 4 years, and had more key space for my fingers.

Get the Samsung over the Poco. The Poco cuts corners on licensing, and won't play things like Netflix and Hulu in HD, because they didn't pay for proper licensing agreements. Of course, they don't tell you this up front. The CPU in the A8 Star is very fluid and smooth. I also made mine even faster by unlocking Developer Options and turning off the 3 settings for animation speeds.

The Asus 5z definitely has better specifications, but it belongs to a much higher price bracket (at least in my country). Also I feel the Samsung UI is more refined when compared to Asus or Pocco. If you want high-end gaming and the latest specs, go for Asus. If you want a clean UI, after sales support and reliabilty go for A8 Star. I have no regrets with the A8 Star!

Oh, and you guys must have the wrong phone? The A8 Star has Haptic feedback. Mine came with a free clear jelly case. Free pair of AKG headphones (although they lack bass, so I don't use them for music). Keep in mind, this is a different phone from the base A8. I'm absolutely thrilled with mine, and I got it for free after registering with a credit card, and agreeing to bill $275 a month to that card (easy for me, as I just have an auto-pay and stop using my debit card). I avoided the chinese phones because they always leave features out. For example, they can't stream HD video from Netflix, Hulu, etc., because they cut corners on licensing to offer a cheaper price. I got the 6GB RAM version in White and it looks beautiful! Its silver on the sides. I love how the display is so large, colorful and bright with such thin borders. Its got Bixby voice, really fast face unlock and fingerprint gestures. The fingerprint scanner is fast, but not as fast as an HTC, although I'm not complaining - just a tiny difference. The dual cameras are good. Low light performance is decent with selfies as well. It supports 4k and slo-mo videos. I like the photos I've taken with this phone. If you're wondering - yes this has a notification light that can change colors. And the speaker volume is very good (call and music). It has a Bixby button on the left. It charges very fast and the battery life lasts forever! I am usually between 60-70% at the end of the day. I get an average of more than 8hrs screen time with moderate usage on 4G (really fast 4G speeds too). I know its a bit pricey, but its a really good phone. I'm really happy I put my money on the A8 Star. If you're buying this phone you should get the White color since this color makes people take second glances! If you have any questions about this phone - ask me and I'll try to answer them for you...

Well, I went ahead and bought the A8Star in Korea, today. After a 2 year contract reduction to about $350, and after signing-up with a Lotte Card credit card, I will essentially get this phone for free, after discounts. I will just need to use it for 2 years, and spend $275 a month on my Lotte Card (not difficult). I know it has only been 1 day (and the Korean version only has 4gb Ram), but so far, I'm absolutely thrilled with this phone. The price deal makes it even sweeter. I have added all of my apps, opened as much or more than I generally have open, and find I have about 1.2gb of Ram left in the background (even with Korean A8Stars having just 4gb ram). I have even left the power saving mode enabled, and everything is very snappy, clean, and smooth despite the forced CPU throttling to save power. I am not a gamer, but my daughter found her Tom's Gold Run game played really well (probably not the most intense game). The audio on this phone is spectacular, for the money. It actually has a little bass to it. Downward-firing out the bottom, but substantial and plenty loud. The screen is fabulous! My wife's S9+ is sharper, but you don't notice the lower dpi unless you put the phones side-by-side. The A8Star is just gorgeous, and more than holds its own in colors and blacks. The cameras do very well, also -- even in low light. I really feel like this phone is an amazing value. People poo-pooing the phone for the 660 chipset, or comparing it to the Pocophone are missing the big picture. CPU's are fast enough. If you're not a heavy gamer, you're essentially getting a gorgeous massive screen, great camera, huge battery, very good sound, and a buttery smooth-running phone, almost the size of a Note 9, for a song. I'm also a fan of it NOT having Gorilla Glass. That brings the price down, and get this -- replacement of the glass front and/or back is 1/2 to 1/3 the price of replacing a Note 9's glass, should you break it. If you put a case on it, and a screen protector, you're good to go. The phone came with a thin jelly case (too thin for me) but it does cover all corners and most edges very well. The included AKG headphones have no bass -- my headphones sound excellent with this phone, though. So, if you're someone who isn't a gamer, but just wants a huge, smooth, gorgeous all-arounder with excellent cameras that doesn't cost much -- GET THIS. I absolutely love it. And in two years, I won't even worry about loss of battery, because I can just upgrade to another mid-ranger for essentially nothing. I may never buy a flagship again.

I am curious about your thoughts. I am in Korea, where the Ram is 4gb on the A8Star. If I apply for a Lotte Mastercard, and commit to 2 years at my current phone data plan, I basically get the phone for about $70 -- almost free. My concerns are that the A8Star only has 4gb here. I can do the same deal and get a Galaxy S9+ for about $300 spread out over the 2 year payment, added to my current phone plan. The thought of pretty much getting a phone for free is quite enticing. I have tried both (my wife owns the S9+, and is very happy) but the thought of owning a phone for almost nothing, vs. paying $300, is enticing. I also have to consider the "back end value" of the phone in 2 years. I think the s9+ would be worth a lot more. Thoughts on which phone deal you'd do?

Built quality wise: A7 and A8 Star are better than the A6+. The camera, it depends on your preference: do you want something that can take very rich photos or do you want good low light performance. But there is one advantage of the A7 and that is zoom, it has a triple camera layout just like the P20 Pro. Performance wise, all of these devices are suppose to be the low end S series. Two of which are running SD 660 and one is with 450. It's really your option. Personally, I would choose between the A7 and the A8 star

People are comparing this with poco.... Poco even though it has SD845.. it has so many downside- 1)there is no 1080 p video playback support 2) plastic body so cheap. No premium build. 3) pathetic camera quality. 4) screen bleed issue. Major problem which cannot be fixed by update. Comparing this with perfectly built A8star is definitely not correct.

I've had this for one day and I can say: Pros: The screen is beautiful (no notch is always a plus for me) Headphone Jack MicroSD Card Slot Big battery with long battery life (So far. I've only had this for one day) The vibration motor is nice Honestly the software experience is pretty good. I added a google pixel theme and it doesn't seem that bad. USB C Cons: Mediocre camera Slow fingerprint scanner with not great location. (Facial recognition makes up for it) Quite big phone. For me, it's a 2 handed phone. Okay speakers which are downward firing. They're louder than the OnePlus 3T at least.

The camera position somewhat copying Iphone X, personally i prerfer camera in the middle like other Samsung device, the fingerprint sensor been position way to high, this could be a China only model been market globally due to lack of demand for Samsung phone in China, similar to J7+ which actually C7 in China. Overall is still a good package with an attractive price tag if one can live with the iPhone X wannabes camera & an odd fingerprints sensor position.

Try out this phone in Samsung Shop, the phone just way to long or tall (whatever you like to call it), though the price was quite attractive with SD660 (which is quite rare since nowadays Samsung prefer their own Exynos chips with Mali GPU). But the phone simply not suitable for daily use as is quite difficult to put in my pocket & sit down properly. A8+ size is just nice but way over price for a midrange phone & Exynos CPU + Mali GPU kind of turn me off. Hopefully Samsung can launch a 6" screen phone with SD 670 chips & price it similar to A8 star, that would be just nice, i don't mind the absent of IP68 since i have no use of it.

Samsung A9 Star has no notch and a far better battery than P20 Lite. Also, no midrange phone is going to have a fantastic camera. Add a snapdragon 660 chipset and sell it for €400 or less and this will sell more than any phone samsung is going to release this year. If the price is more than that then it will be the same old story.
