Samsung Gear S3 frontier LTE - User Reviews

  • I have same problem with you now. Have u solve the problem yet? Would you like tell me how? Thank you!!

  • I'm not sure where you are looking as its been available here for ages. ie more than a year, just do a google search.

  • Shame it is not available in the UK yet! What are samsung playing at? Apple have now been allowing you to call and text off their watch without connection to a phone for 2 series of their watches. Samsung still do not have an offering for this. I thought they were leaders in the market. Gutted as I just moved over to Samsung thinking it was the bees knees. Looks like I will be heading back to iPhone before long as no news about this model allowing for calls and texts coming to the UK anytime soon!

  • I like this watch a lot. I recommend It for men, though, because it looks big on women's hand. Be low are some pluses of this watch. I found only one minus in this watch. "+" The watch is waterproof. I took a shower with it and my watch works well. It keeps charge for a long time, around two days. This is a lot for a smart watch. The watch has a lot of functions, such as internet, music playback, timekeeping, Samsung health. "-" The only downside is a high price. You really must get this watch. You will love it!

  • any luck with this?

  • Will have it soon, cant wait really excited

  • Does it work with iphone 6?? If yes!! Are functions working or not?!

  • I'm owned gear s3 frontier about 1 month.. Its rotating bezel not smooth.. In spec,it has built in gps but in fact, thats not its gps..the watch require gps phone to enable..when its in stand alone mode, its cannot lock gps signal at all..a big liar..

  • I actually tried that. how do you bind it to an iPhone? or an LG phone for example?

  • Super!!!

  • Its OK so far but i just ordered the I4 Air Smart Watch Phone - 1 IMEI, 3G, 5MP Camera, WiFi, Calls, Messages, 16GB watch and to me its better.

  • It works with all android handset and can even pair with apple devices.

  • As far as I'm aware..it is Works on all android phones. I have it and it's without doubt the best SmartWatch going. And I've tried a few

  • Needs a built-in laser pointer.

  • Is this watch compatible with all Android phones or only usable in Samsung smartphones ?

  • LTE version is almost banned in most countries, only American Sims work like iPad works. It does not work like any GSM sim. Forget LTE.

  • Does it work in Srilanka? If yes, with what carrier to get an ESim?

  • If I buy the the S3 Frontier LTE and bring it to Belize in CA would it work with BTL carrier

  • Or maybe a bottle of water without a bottle... Cheers ;)

  • Yes, Steve Jobs wouldn't, R.I.P.

  • I have the same question. I may go to US to buy a LTE version. Would that work in Canada Telcom Network?

  • I've been using my gear s3 since december... and everything is good. battery life lasts upto 3 days (not to mention im a heavy user) and swimming with it is not an issue.

  • Tizen OS It's actually a lot smoother, easy to use than Android wear. Don't be fooled by people who automatically claim this without knowing the facts.

  • Is Gear S3 have auto EL light like Casino Protect have? Cause it will very useful while riding motorcycle in night.

  • By the way I am also traveling most of the time. I have not visited any network company yet so I am not sure if this watch can work. I now in Paramaribo Suriname.

  • I have this problem. "The USIM CARD is required to download USIM. Start the registration. " But it always failed. Anyone able to use the phone in stand alone mode? Mine is locked to KOREA SK Telecom. Samsung Gear S3 LTE. THANK YOU FOR ANY POSITIVE REPLY

  • I wish Samsung wouldn't use TizenOS, and just use Android Wear 2.0, because that's the only reason why I don't plan on getting a Gear S3

  • At least they are outselling everyone including Apple! They offer free software management to all customers and help us out with REAL PEOPLE, instead of having to hope we can send out technology off to some random place to get it fixed. Their products are sturdy and reliable. By the way, they recalled over 3 million note 7s and took a huge loss, I bet steve jobs and Apple wouldn't do something like that and admit fault. Hands down the BEST products ever and they wont be beat any time soon. Also when i bought my galaxy I got free Smart TV! Yeah, try finding that somewhere else.

  • when will be lte lauched in india ?

  • I am reading on www.tim.it (Telecom mobile in Italy) that e-sim is supported. They are selling the S2 with e-sim with a new number or you can assign an existing number (but the actual sim will be blocked). I do not know if you buoght the S3 LTE it will works because now in Italy they are selling only the S3 without LTE module.

  • No way is esim supported in Europe. Samsung marketing on this point is digracegul.....totally misleading. Just what you would expect from the 'exploding battery' people.

  • I just got this watch and its great it looks better then the picture. For two easy to navigate and control also easy set up.

  • I have a plan to buy this. Is there any problem with this smarwatch guys ? Is tizen OS as good as android wear ecosystem ?

  • I am thinking about getting the Gear S3 Frontier LTE in Canada. Does anyone have real life experience with this? I suspect I will have to purchase this from the USA. If I do, can it be activated in Canada?

  • Can you enlighten us, what would be so useful that they add a camera to a watch ?

  • I bought S2 3G instead of Gear S3 - way too big. Apps selection miserable - there is no real selection. No facebook, viber, whatsapp integration. I do not buy the excuse that it takes time to develop new technologies/apps - gear s2 is almost two years old.... when was the last time a new app for gears s watches was introduced?

  • Without camera it likes a empty bottle without water

  • Owner of a Gear S2, no complains. If you decide to buy an innovative device it is normal to take longer to have more application options.

  • its price 400 hundred in uk price

  • Have you had sucess on switching the provider? I am still searching for a solution for my korean version :(

  • Hi, has anyone been able to get the LTE version to work in Europe? Are there any companies in Europe that support e-sim?

  • I want to buy this watch (Samsung Gear S3 frontier LTE).. how much of this I am from Pakistan

  • Does it work in sweden?

  • Did you get the USIM setup

  • Any more updates I have the same problem any fix

  • Can i make whatsapp and messenger calls and receive it on the watch or can i use it as a loudspeaker during such these apps ??

  • yes it can

  • Did you get any Feedback or found another way to connect the korean version with an european ESim? I have the same setting (korean unlocked version, branded from TK telecom, and a german ESIM from Vodafone) and have no idea how to get that combination work. :(

  • Is there anyway the Samsung Gear S3 work on tablets? Tried pairing my S3 with galaxy tab A LTE version...did not work! :(

  • it's a very good phone with lots of potential, but for the LTE version lacking dedicated messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Facebook and Facebook Messenger hurts a lot and limits it's potential!

  • Did you manage to get it to work? My South Korean Version won't download the USIM in the UK. My carrier denies any knowledge of how to activate the e-Sim...

  • Did you manage to get it to work? My South Korean Version won't download the USIM in the UK. My carrier denies any knowledge of how to activate the e-Sim...

  • does the gear 3 can "read" hebrew

  • If you have bought it in Melbourne it will most likely be the Bluetooth only version. This runs through your phone, so if your phone works in Thailand, then your phone will. The 4G/LTE version is not commonly available in Australia, but, if you were in possession of the 4G version, it will work anywhere, as long as your SIM inside the watch allows for Call/Data in said country.

  • You can use e-sim

  • i buy gear s3 frontier from Melbourne,Australia can i use it at thailand?

  • Can youn please update me with your solution as I have got the S3 frontier LTE from Korea and till now the USIM download always fails.

  • Only 2g 3g 3g+ will work in europe. 4g LTE uses the 850 Band which is not available in europe. So the best is to wait and not order the korean vs

  • Thinking about ordering a korean version but I have the same question...will it work in Europe? Please update if you find out.

  • Does it work in Europe?

  • my LTE watch from TMobile was activated with TMobile and worked there in US ..but no roaming outside so LTE stopped...

  • I purchased the LTE version couple of days ago. the watch itself is well built, side buttons does not have that tactile feel and make low quality toy noise when you push them, other than that the watch itself performs as expected. I hooked up my Bluetooth handsfree with it and I can make/Receive calls which is nice. the only problem of the watch is that it's OS and software market. Tizen is not that bad but comparing to android. lets just say I prefer android wear better, and there are no messaging apps like TELEGRAM, WHATSAPP, VIBER, SKYPE,... as a stand alone device I expect Samsung t work more on adding some neat and fairly huge user based apps to it's arsenal, if they plan to win the WAR! if you who and what I mean! cheers!

  • Hello, Just wanted to know if your watch did really work with European LTE sim card. If it did, then which koren carrier did you chose ? Appreciate your feedback

  • i have the frontier UK version not LTE and i also have the frontier LTE version witch i bought from Korea i have been trying to set my LTE version up here in the UK but not having much luck the watch tells me to download the USIM to start the registration when i do this nothing happens when in stand alone mode all i can get is emergency calls only any ideas anyone.

  • till now the gear S3 LTE works only in certain carriers in USA and Korea , otherwise useless anywhere else. the thing is that Samsung has to provide the import Sim Profile function back in the Samsung Gear app.

  • Can anyone confirm that the Korean LTE version works in Europe? Thanks!

  • Maybe, you can get this in Korea.

  • Hey man! I'm waiting for your updates 😄 is it working? The Korean one?

  • Hi, did you already get your Gear S3 and is LTE function working in Luxembourg? Where did you buy it? I'm looking for one too. Thanks for your answer.

  • E-sim was made to make things easier and faster to the device owner / user when he decides to switch network providers while travelling or even while staying ..without the hassle of sim swapping and sizing...etc but the new gear S3 LTE had failed to provide any kind of freedom or easiness to the user ! its just coming with a fixed E-sim profile tailored for a specific carrier ! so if u go to a different carrier and ask to run their service , it is like going to Vodafone and asking them to provide mobile services on your Orange Sim !

  • i think no carrier can easily jump over another carrier's e-sim card data , the box itself has its built in E-sim serial no , so even if u ask Tmobile or similar providers for an unlock , what do we really expect them to do ? we need samsung gear app to add the option to Import E-sim data on the Gear S3 LTE

  • Sooo.... despite all my searches, you're saying that it will probably not work straight ot of the box, at least not without a tweak or *cough*hack*cough*?

  • actually , there is nothing called " clone the sim card data" to the Gear S3 LTE . not available , sorry :( unlike the Gear S2 3G version ,which has the ability to import e-sim profile data to the watch , but the new Gear S3 LTE version comes with a pre-defined E-sim Card serial no (which is a part of an approved list of Sim Serial numbers belonging to a specific Carrier) so it is not a matter of unlocking the watch , it is more like you are trying to let an another carrier provide you mobile services on the same sim card of a competitor carrier !

  • Well, after a lot of research on the web my SM-R 765 LTE is on its way to Luxembourg from Korea, delivery Monday Insh'Allah... Based on what I have read, the GSM bands are compatible so it *should* work over here if the Gear app on my Galaxy S7 Edge will copy my SIM card to the clone host on the watch... One rumour is that I may need to procure a Korean pre-paid SIM card in order to pair the things, we shall see... Am I the only person to import a Korean Frontier LTE to Europe? Will this work? The suspense is killing me...

  • Hows the call in and call out function? clear?

  • mine does not rattle at all the plastic is not cheap at all I think you were to quick to dislike it before your gave it a actual attempt to like it.but that's only my opinion (side note mine runs great and functions perfectly and feels comfortable speaker on it sounds great when I'm making as phone call on it mine is Bluetooth)

  • Got my gear s3 two days and I must say it is the best smartwatch Samsung has put out so far mind you it is a more manly watch, I have not found any thing wrong with it. I love it, it is the future to me everyone will be playing catch up.

  • Bought the frontier from ATT, returned it, disappointed. The front dial is made out of a cheap plastic, not well secured and rattles. The Gears s2 is better buillt. I'm sticking with my gear S2.

  • Yes you will need to get a new sim card/new number then you can forward your old number to gear and use both numbers. You'd better buy this watch from your mobile company like T-Mobile.

  • Hello I have a question is it compatible with other Smart phones like Huawei,Sony or any other... anyone share his/her experience is this better then Samsung gear S2 classic ?

  • Hi .want to buy this as present for my husband .he has s7 edge will he need to buy another sim card ? Not sure how these things work

  • if your are worried about your money, then forget it, you will always find something wrong with it once you bought it, so don''t bother.

  • $299 version is non lte

  • Yes it can, I have had mine for the past 2 weeks and have used the voice command to dial home. It uses the onboard speaker and mic for the call so no searching for my phone in my back just tell it to call whoever !

  • should I buy this watch?? help me guys I need advice for the best watch to buy I don't want to waste me money

  • I couldn't agree more with your comment about Danieel's silly & pretentious comment. I have used Garmin products in the past and frankly they are extremely difficult to use (seemingly designed by software engineers rather than user interface experts). Having a Samsung S2 myself for over a year the idea that it is a toy is just plain daft. Dannieel should grow a bit and stop being just a Garmin fanboy.....

  • This isn't Android Wear OS, it's Tinzen

  • If you didn't figure this out, order from Samsung, then it will work everywhere and is currently $50 off($299).

  • Yes only if your running 4.4 or higher on the phone version

  • If I purchase a Gear 3 Frontier with LTE (esim technology) from AT&T or TMobile, will it be compatible with the Verizon network (unlocked) when they support it in the future? Or is the esim technology specific (locked) to each carrier?

  • You have not idea. This is not an Android watch.

  • The Garmin has no 3G/LTE connectivity.

  • The profits speak for themselves. Claiming you'd buy a sophisticated Garmin watch over a kiddy's toy Android smartwatch that only has a percentage of the capabilities is pretentious. Each watch has it's own specific usage, so unless you're trying to compare the GPS functionality of the two, your comment adds nothing to furtherment of technology for the better.

  • I dont know why big companies like samsung and apple humiliates themselves with these kids toys ... i would never buy one of these pricey toys instead i would buy a real smart watch and i mean Garmin Fenix 3 HR by that .

  • I do wish though that watches would raise their storage to 8 GB, 4 is just laughable.

  • e-sim (electronic sim-card) You don´t Need anymore a sim-card. The Provider of your sim-card can actived the e-sim-function (if there Support e-sim!) so that you can do phonecalls over your watch without cellphone.

  • what is E-Sim?

  • For LTE version yes.

  • Yes.

  • Can the gear s3 Frontier (non Lte) recieve calls directly on watch when connected through Bluetooth to phone?

  • Will the watch recieve all notifications that the phone is recieving when its in stand alone? In other words, will I be able to leave my phone at home, and still get Whatsapp messages displayed on my watch when Im out running?

  • I find it extremely frustrating that there is NO communication from Samsung on the Gear S3s release in Australia. Although I'm not fussed about LTE, I don't want to buy a Gear S2 over a Gear S3. I've had the Apple Watch and didn't like it, and I don't want to wait until Google release theirs next year. Any inside knowledge would be appreciated......

  • if no network provider supports e-sim in canada, then it would be inutile to sell the lte variant of samsung gear s3

  • A few questions. Are Samsung watches compatible with any android phones? Also can you use Samsung pay on the watch if you do not pair it with a Samsung phone?

  • Does it have turn by turn navigation ?

  • Why is it that best buy canada is selling the non lte variant?

  • Keep note that the frontier has two versions.. LTE and none-LTE, so countries that do not sell the LTE will still sell the frontier. As far as the e-sim itself, it is basically a very universal electronic sim, that is not physical and can be programmed on the fly. I do not think carriers would have to "support" it since it still acts as a regular sim via communication with the systems. A country not supporting it would most likely be just a choicemade by Samsung, like how exynos phones are sold in certain countries etc.

  • I agree in AU we dont have Esim

  • Is it going to blow off my hand?

  • I couldn't agree more. very frustrating indeed.

  • Why only eSIM? In most country don't working!!!

  • Tizen is much more reliable then android, tizen has better power management than android, it has enough application for daily tasks.. so I guess that's why.

  • SAMSUNG!!! Why Tizen??? This was your biggest mistake to switch to TIZEN from Android, Android store has far more good improved APPS then TIZEN STORE, you are loosing sales because of that!!!

  • No LTE in the UK, no sale.

  • can it turn into wifi hotspot??

  • We all do my friend... lets expect it for this month (octuber). Well as far as i know, samsung said that the samsung gear s3 will be released in octuber or november 2016. I read a lot about this watch and im searching for a long time.. in forums i got the idea that the s3 classic will come 1st (m8b the octuber one)because it has no LTE system. And m8b the frontier one will come later (m8b in november 2016) because of the E-SIM LTE technology.. currentlly only available in few countries (my country [Portugal] is not included yet). So, the frontier will eventually come to sale but some of the technologies will not be available at time. Hope that my answer helped you my friend :)

  • Samsung executive confirmed that like the Gear S2, the Gear S3 will also eventually work with the iPhone. Beyond its own tests, the company also needs to submit its app to Apple for approval in its App Store. Opening up the Gear S2 and S3 would allow Samsung to tap a much wider base of iPhone users. Apple, after all, sold more than 40 million iPhones just in the last quarter. It would also give iPhone users an alternative to the Apple Watch. i search on internet~

  • does it support ant+ connection?

  • This is a standalone phone basically, and I believe it supports mic+sound for bluetooth devices in-order to make/receive calls. I believe the answer to your question would be yes, it should work fine for a car system as long as the car system has bluetooth.

  • Actually, Samsung are actively working on making it compatible. A beta version of the setup has been released for the Gear S2 already and is working fine from what I read. Samsung have also said they plan to have the Gear S3 ios ready by the release to market. Let's see what happens...

  • Does anyone know if the Frontier can connect to a car system via blue tooth. If I am using the watch as standalone, can the car blue tooth answer the call?

  • October 2016 (that's all Samsung has said so far...)

  • No.

  • I need to know when the gear S3 frontier will be for sale.

  • can i ask ¬iphone can use gear s3?

  • Acctually i didnt bought the samsung gear s2 because its 2 small and i love big watches. I think that the size of S3 its just fantastic :)

  • Hey sir, your comment acctually makes me think! Thanks for sharing.

  • I do preffer Android OS. The rest you have a point :)

  • You have a point here sir.. for me its the only thing thats makes me think to buy it or not.. im an app developper and really prefer the android system just because have much more pottencial.. but yeah, i understand samsung... For dayly users..tizen is like more..i dont know.. user friendlly? (Still dont agreed with that) but its obviouslly cheeper to pick a tizen instead of an android OS .. thats why this watch will not cost 500€ as the huawei (hopping so)

  • Acctually is not waterproff, its water resistent. Check the differences b2 IP68 and IP78

  • are you blind @kpappa its waterproof open eyes -_-

  • e sim ?!!!! noooo :( in my country dont exist electronic sim :( :(

  • yes but not water proof... Why Samsung ?

  • but deos not video recorder and low bettey

  • What about the compass sensor? Without that map navigation is very tricky at walk speed between tall buildings.

  • They did.

  • "water and dust resistant" umm..

  • I just waited so long for this watch, looks all good, nice, efficient and practical, functional...but why couldn`t they add water resistance, so I can take it for swimming too??? so sad...

  • Michael, I think that's more a faulty model than tell-tale for all of them. I owned the 1st gear watch, gear s, now the s2 classic. My battery life is roughly 3 days (I turn mine off between 10pm and 6am however). As for your comment "If the product was good, Samsung would give 1 year Warantee" I don't know what country you're in, but in Australia this device comes with a 2 year warranty.

  • Wrong Peter. I have both Tizen ane Android Wear watch, Tizen don't have many apps faces, compared to Android Wear. Try owning both of them, first then you can compare. Don't know why Samsung still use Tizen, while all other manufacturers go with Androd Wear, that is so much better. Battery time on Samsung is very short, after 6 months watch discharge even when watch is off. Used to last a full day, but after 6 monts it hardly last 6-8 hours only. If the product was good, Samsung would give 1 year Warantee. Avoid Tizen, and go with Android Wear.

  • Not true. I owned the Gear Classic the square shape. Fantastic smart watch in terms of clarity, texting, speaker, numbers of watch faces and having battery-backup pack. It was one of the few watches that I could easy open whatsapp images on the watch. I sold it easy as 2nd hand. The other Samsung watch that I had was the Gear S2. It is a very good watch with excellent battery. However the screen was too small for me to read messages and notification. I am eager to get my hand on Gear S3. Tizen is much superior to both Apple Watch and Android Wear. I have both, and none of them can beat the Tizen.

  • Owner of the first samsung gear s, actually 2 of them. None of them lived more than 3/4 of first year. Warrantee only 6 months, for a reason. Also, not many apps and watch faces for Tizen, so consider this seriously, before buying any samsung tizen watch. Else I love my Samsung phones, but samsung smart watches and their short life span, is it worth the price?

  • I wish, that this little display had a WACOM-Digitizer to work with the S-Pen.

  • Great if your carriers support e sim. No luck here in oz.I considered a s2 classic 3g from Korea till I found this out. I still use my gear 2 & gear s. I think the s3 is perfect as the s2 was a tad bit too small. Now it seems there's an optionbfor men & woman but us guys who want the bigger 1 will pay more but get more. I can't believe people have actually complained about the size of the s3. & they were males too. I think Samsung has done a great job. Now I hear I may have a recall on my note 7 only 2 days in. Shattered. If this happens I may wait for note7pro with 6g ram &128g storage. See what they have to say I guess. Glad I haven't set it up as yet.just used it through with fi from my note 5 to download dome apps.

  • If you can afford the watch then you can afford to divert your contract sim number to a spare number you have registered in the watches e-sim....logic 101

  • eSim card is another step closer from losing your name and became a simpleton number. the comedy part is that people are actually paying themselves for this

  • Less sensors, ram, etc than note 7 but it has e-sim.

  • The best thing about new devices is the electronic sim card, eSim all the way.

  • Why?

  • Fantastic watches, but why not bluetooth le version with aptx , stainless steel bands on one would nail the look, why no browser, its handy to download podcast on wifi for the gym for later, I use opera on gear s. That e sim nonsense needs rejecting by the public, why shouldn't I use a pay as you go spare sim card in it when I have my phone with me as well, and, swap the major contract sim from my phone into it ,when I only want to have the watch on me at, say , parties or the gym. The control element for corporations here has crossed the line. I know if my galaxy gear s would have worked with Samsung Pay, I have the perfect watch, no problems, in nearly a year, no broken / scratched anything, as aposed to the internet Pr liars, and great with Hs3000 bluetooth plugs. With a proper sim slot I would buy one of these definately.

  • Electronic SIM card is by far one of the most dangerous and evil thing that came along with new technology... this thing need to be killed with fire
