It is a nice phone. You can use mp3 music as message tone but transfer it first to phone memory before you can use it as message tone. You can set your photos to be automatically saved to memory card.

Do not buy this phone. I have had this phone for just over a year now, and already I have had to order a new phone (nokia e71). The slide function has become loose and unsteady, and the screen has now completely gone, flashing white and rainbow, and only showing half the display. I have never dropped it, and always keep it in a safe pocket in my bag or pocket. My opinion: looks smooth and sleek, but you get what you pay for; a piece of crap. Never buying a samsung again.

To download games or applications . u need to first have .jar and .jad files of the game/application that u need to install. Then upload those files on euploader.com Then from ur phone go to m.euploader.com and download the file. ta-dan ... thats all ..

It is wrong that software and games are not supported by this phone. instead it supports various software like nimbuzz, filelock,operamini, java games like racing games, chess, puzzles and a lot more. so my advice will be first learn how to maximise the use of this phone and try to experience 3g. in the market there is no other 3g phone with these specifications and in such a low price!!! the only model is l700. its good. but it doe not have any application key which is really bad.

i am using this phone over a year without any trouble. the very special feature of this low-priced model is it has an application key that allows you to make call, messaging playing music or browsing internet while you are doing anything else even transferring data via bluetooth. but yes, the model should have a bit more internal memory and a g00d screen display. i have also installed "nfs games" which runs fine. and the phone never hangs. but it does not support linux platform. pc connection and interface is really good. earphone sound is also satisfactory. speaker may not be loud but it is really soothing and clear. mp3 player sounds better than the radio. but if the signal is clear then radio also works fine. bluetooth speed is normal but it should have atleast 30mb memory with a free 2gb card. keypad is large enough and keys are also soft. overall this is a really a good daily purpose phone. its 3g network is very strong and fast. also 2g speed is good.

I have this phone, and one thing i really hate about it is that you cant change the tone to your messages! It also has a very small speaker, which also annoys me. Really , its battery performance is not good. Its back speaker is not good.. It is supports very less type of file format. But its body is solid. Its its internal memory is very bad. My experience of this phone is good. Its earpeace speakar is poor . Eapeace speaker is large and it create earache. Camera and video recording quality is very poor in night . Its background black colour is not good. So please do not buy this poor samsung j800 phone.

A good basic phone with a good screen, good sized keys for a slider and reasonable sound quality. The menus are relatively easy to use as well. On the downside, the battery life is poor and even with little use, generally still needs a recharge each day.

I had my J800 for less than a month and the screen was cracked while in my pocket. No dropage, no scratches but I was told I might have leaned against something and exerted pressure upon it. I would not buy another Samsung product and someone could make a fortune in providing "bubble wrap" cases for protection

Just don't go for this phone, cannot transfer large file via bluetooth directly to memory card, jad/ jar files work only when downloaded via net, slider gets loose to the left side after frequent use, front camera is only for video calling, video quality very poor,and even this 2 mp camera isn't very good, message memory claims to be 500, but cannot use after 200, overall u have much better options...

In this mobile there is no risk of virus in the phone memory. 2MP camera take the shots perfectly. Replying to the 11 year old kid, i think you should definitey get the J800. Im 12 and its great for me because its got a 2meg camera, blutooth, and style. its one of the coolest samsungs released so far and its had no technical problems yet.

Have bought the phone for $99 AU, very impressed good enough, and better than expected. I have had a few cheaper Samsung models before and they were not so good. But I found sound quality of calls much better than expected (compared to the cheaper Samsung) but would not say overall fantastic, but good enough. The rest of the functions seem better than the cheaper ones, and am quite happy, except for a few things. The first thing is that the unlock key sequence when the keypad is slid up is too easy to accidentally to unlock in your pocket. Second, it will answer calls in your pocket, because (so far) I have not been able to tun off the call answering when in the keyboard is slid up. It plainly needs to be set so that you only answer when the keypad is down, and to unlock by sliding the keypad down and up. Simple not revolutionary. A suggestion for the moderators. I have hearing problems so sound quality on the calls is vital, if one end is not optimal it becomes very important. So, each time I look at opinions here I try to search for opinions on sound quality (clarity, also handling background noise) but thee is no opinion function to rate sound and other things, or to leave an opinion on it, or mark your opinion as covering it. So, you can get heaps and heaps of unrelated/inadequate opinions listed form many pages, rather than a few relevant ones, it might cut down on 90% of posts if people could simply click on a list tree or search. I also think you can;t search by opinion category for that matter,to find user reviews. The other problem is the greatest. There is an Internet key permanently on the front, I have not found a way to take it away or reassign it, and it is under tha back key, so when you go back it resorts to Internet, chucking you into a connection (money money money). On top of this some features have an Internet option, go to videos and press more videos for example, guess what, an connection, which is easy enough to do accidentally, or for kids to go berserk with the bill. if you accidentally hit any of these things and walk away, you are there connected unknown (how much this effects depends on traffic/hours charging). So, key lock is important. These connection features need to be able to be locked away, with special key verification, if pressed, as well. They should be able to be put in the menu system under a item or folder, as desired (and all the rest of unused time outs etc). For music and video, there really should be in options as "connect to pay to use service/Internet" with special key verification (where you have to press a irregular key to activate, like "5", all others deactivates). Having all these options is one of the best way to handle any possible debate on anti-trust and class action. Bills from things like these are not popular. I had to redo the configuration of the keypad, because they were too many items that cost me money rather than help me communicate. There also was a Google/email functions on it (not so bad, but annoying considering the rest). I forget, but I don't think contacts (phone book) was there and I don't think they had messaging, but had create a message function, which is OK. One thing I found annoying is that the buttons are not so good for gaming (apart from not being able to read the text on Rayman Kart too much). There needs to be more attention to the design of the control pads on phones\, otherwise game play is clunk and unsatisfying) the delicate balance between the middle button press and the outer control pad direction also needs to be balanced (I design things). Also, hidden buttons down the other end of the phone would be nice, like what the Nokia e81, and Sony Ericsson f305 does The video call camera I would describe as adequate, though it really distorts the shape of the picture, so a full head shot will appear to make your head like a beach ball.

I believe that I got a very good phone. It's Just that there is no LED Flash attached that would make picture more beautiful espacially in dark areas. I wish that the files transferred thru bluetooth could directly go to the Micro SD. Nonetheless, I am happy that I have this phone.

Sadly the phone is poor. I initially got the silver model, however the keys have a mirror background and the lettering is in white, so in very standard lighting you can not see the keys. After the phone was exchanged, the was exchanged for the black model I discovered when I started to use the phone every day, the battery is very poor, I can only get about 2 days out of the phone - if I take a call, make calls or listen to music the battery lasts less time.

This phone is great! This is my first Samsung phone and it didn't let me down. I looked at this to replace my Moto W270 and didn't know that this was more than just a basic phone. Physically, it's plastic but sturdy and firm build. The slide mechanism is not wobbly. I dropped this phone once from a double deck bed and it's as if nothing happened. It also has good camera and excellent battery life. I recharge this phone every after four days or more - even with frequent texting and calling. My only con is the 256K LCD which cannot display all the colors captured by the camera. But for the price, I give it a thumbs up.

I gifted this phone to my mum on her 50th Birthday and i have fiddled with it quite a bit so here goes- 1)Sound-Reception is excellent and you will face no problems with voice clarity. However ring tone volume is very low even at max volume and thus not easy to hear a call if the phone is away. Sound over the hands free is brilliant so its great for music lovers. 2)Camera-Quality of pictures is higher then what could be expected from 2MP and i was surprised to see that even on zoom there were hardly any pixel issues on my computer screen. You need to spend time figuring out how to work the camera options especially if your new to Samsung. LCD is horrid in brightly lit conditions but this can be condoned due to superior output of pic. 3)Display quality-Lovely display with true to life colours and satisfying feel. 4)Build-Sturdy build and the slider works well and does not feel shaky/weak.Good rectangular design and keys large enough for fat/stubby fingers too. Only thing is that the cam does not have a protection cover. Overall for the price plus features and taking into consideration specs+looks of other manufacturers phones, this is an 8/10. Get used to it and barring a few limitations you will love it.Like beer this is an acquired taste.

The mobile tracker all you to store 2 numbers in the setings (from your phone book). This will then, if lost or stolen, send a text to the chosen number with your name, IMEI and a short message to your chosen contacts. The beauty being that the messge comes from the thief (or finders) phone numer as soon as the sim card is replaced. This will repeat whenever a ne sim is put in the device.

The Mobile Tracker function comes standard to all new Samsung phones, it helps the user in case the phone is stolen, you can enter phone numbers that the phone automaticaly sends a message to in case the SIM card is changed. * Good looks * A 2.2", 176x220 screen seems a bit odd to me but Samsung followed the same principle when it started producing 2", 128x160 screens. * I don't think that the Luxe moniker fits this phone. The L870 is a more deserving unit, but then how will this phone sell if it ain't got something that gives a bit of excitement. Yeah, 'J800 Luxe' would probably help sell more of it than by just being 'J800'.
