I had this phone back in the day and loved it. Its design was and still is beautiful. It also functioned excellently as a phone which is exactly what it was supposed to do. I've since moved on to smartphones but I do miss the days when a mobile phone was just a mobile phone and not a mobile computer. If Samsung could still release phones like this I would get one in a heartbeat.

samsung is quite infamous for their mobiles' battery life and this mobile was no different; also after approx 1.5 yrs the touchscreen broke and started playing up so badly that it made the phone impossible to use HOWEVER to me it was and it still is one of the most beautiful mobile phones ever designed.

To switch from "Silent Mode" to "Normal" (sounds on), simply press # for 2 seconds. The loudspeaker icon should be right there.. To turn "Silent" back on again, just do the same.

had this phone for about 3 months, screen begins to break. rainbow lines and SH**.. then took the phone to a samsung store, replaced flex for 15$, now ok. after 1 month, flex breaks again, 15$ for the flex. after 1 month again!, flex broke again. fck this phone. never buy this. maybe its too thin to make flex invulnerable to breakage. :(

i've had this phone for a long long time. the camera is good, takes very nice pictures and the video works satisfying as well. i mainly use it for phone calls and taking pictures, listening to music.if i don't listen to music the battery lasts for like 3 days, but when i do - it lasts for 2 - ish. i think it is a nice and simple phone. i am shopping around for a new one. any suggestions?

I have this phone or rather had dis phone and its ok for people who dont want many features on their phone. So if you get bored on a car trip then dont bother gettin out dis phone to fiddle with cos there just ain't anything to fiddle with. i have this fone fr more than two yrs nw...my experience wd ths fone has been excellent...the camera is brilliant n i have it in a lovely pink n silver color..the document viewer is great opens all kinds of files..the only drawbacks r that the camera n music player is a bit slow..lags a few secs n the speakers nt that loud though its great on headfones...bt othrwise its a great all rounder n a v tough fone...i ve dropped it on concrete floors n there wasnt any damage

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone. The touch buttons are way too annoying, easily making calls without notice. Evenmore, while writing a message, an accidental touch on the upper right button forces you to exit the SMS writing, simply asking if you want to save your current message or not. HIGHLY annoying if you ask me... Further on, the camera / video mode are really slow. But the worst thing of all, is the erroneous behaviour that occurred. Me, and a friend of mine, experienced a weird "bug" while writing messages, where the screen light would go "blinking". We've never been able to recover from that weird behaviour. Couple months later, the phone decided to turn its screen light off while slided up, rendering it almost useless. Quite an old phone, perhaps no one would be interested to buy it now, but still, stay away from it.

Can't recommend this phone. It takes too long to take a picture. I just wait with the phone in my hand for 10 sec to take the picture after I pressed the button. When I put a memory card in the phone, it lags before it starts actually playing a song.

I use U600 from almost 2 years. This phone have realy TV-out. I bought a TV-out cable compatible with the phone (around 10 euro) and works. I use the phone to play (MP4) cartoons from phone on TV during the summer holiday for my kids. The resolution is 320x240 pixels is ok on old TV (640x480 pixels), but on new HD TV (LCD or plasma) may be problrms with the image quality, depend on kids or you. Use the programs Samsung PC Studio 3 deliver by Samsung to convert your movie in mp4 format. An advice: use short movies aroun 5-6 minutes log to play, if the movie is long 1 hour the coresponding file (mp4 file) is big and the phone canot play (because of its internal architecture). So the only way to play a long movie is to cut the file in small pieces and play each separatly. To return back, is OK to entartain your kids in the hotel room when the wheater is not good for playing out (is raining :(( ). The phone is OK from this point of view. The realy problem, for me, is the battery. If a hear radio (very good stereo quality on ear-phones) during the day, I have to charge the phone in the same day. If I use moderate: a few cals, a few pictures (make great picture for a phone), wake-up alarm with sound level 1, after 3 days I heve to charge the phone. If you want a longer time use for a period of day on off-line mode. If I put the phone durring the night on off-line I can have the phone for 5 days. After that I have to charge the battery.

Lot of people complaint about its slider touch keys. more over no tv-out and doc viewer is just to show off no use. Samsunng after sale service is worst according to my own experience.

Why are you whining like babies - no camera, then no sound, then - black screen, then - etc!?? :D Simply disassemble the phone, buy Flex cable for Samsung U600 on eBay for what...2 pounds!? :D Change it and it shall work again. Or order the flexi cable, bring the phone and the cable to a service center and they will switch it. And you won't have to pay full replace price, 'cause you'll have the main ingredients! :D Good luck, folks!

The phone overall in my opinion is pretty good. Admittedly it does take a while to take a photo, or play a song, but has some great features. Quite reliable i've had for 3 years, and I even dropped it in a small river and it still worked for a good 18 months after, but not some buttons aren't working so i'll have looked at. I'd recommend buying.

bought fone jun/08-lcd now goes black or has vertical lines on it periodically and since screen is unreadable u can't acess menu/contacts. have been told its a problem with slider fones-connection btween mother board and lcd gets fractured however u can still make/rec calls. yes camera takes too long to act and i wish flash was automatic

Have this phone since Jan 2008. Love it! Never used it as a primary thing for music (I have iPod) or picture taking (I have camera for that) because things designed specially for those purposes always will be better. Ok, I used camera a few times, pictures are great. Never had problems with the battery. Remember, it is very important to charge your phone correctly at the first time, and your battery will work nicely. And now the most important thing - recently my cat started to jump up to the kitchen shelf where I keep different things, including phone when I'm around there. So, twice in one week my phone fell into her water tray. Both times I noticed that in some time. after the second time it wasn't working at all, I already started to think about the new one. But this morning I put it together again and it works! Love Samsung phones! Never had any problems! I have destryed a few or lost, but never had to get a new one because of something wrong happening with my phone!

i had this mobile for a year and it was fine but i accidentally broke it. so i bought the same one again and after only having it for 2 months it started stuffing up. i took it to the phone repair store and they told me the motherboard was corrupt and it wasn't professionally made. very upset. i wouldn't reccommend it.

This phone is absolutely the biggest pile of rubbish I have ever used. I purchased this phone back when it came out in early 2007 and used it for a few months. It is essentially a little toy made out of flimsy cheap plastic that mars and dings easily and readily. The plastic screen cover is utter junk, low-quality plastic. The sliding mechanism is decent but if you are used to precise sliders like high end Nokia's you will be surely disappointed by the lateral flex. I did not have so much problems with the four touch sensitive keys, what I found disturbing was trying to text on this phone, it is really counter intuitive and the bluetooth configuration if connecting to a headset is dangerous to use at best. The photos are okay in good lighting, I find the flash useless and worthless. Since the phone has a tiny digital image processor it takes forever to take a picture, the auto focus is miserably slow. Since the phone is limited to 50mb of internal memory, some of which is used up by the os the phone requires you to use a memory card to store media. Now reading anything off the memory card takes an obscene amount of time, 20+ seconds. By creating many folders you can speed up your access of the media but it will still take a very very very long time. It is useless as a media device in any way shape or form. The screen at the time was fairly nice but quickly starting amassing dead pixels. I had about a dozen after two months. And to top everything off the reception is awful and the the speaker is not as loud as I would like. The call quality is also relatively mediocre, but the reception is a disaster.

this phone is cool and very sexy, it has nice features...i had the pink u600 for 5mnths and now it has flex problems. i called car phone warehouse where i got it and all i heard was that my 12 months guarantee does not cover the screen. how painful but i hope to get it fixed sometime soon. Generally, the phone is cool for female teens. it has a nice camera with flash but the music volume can do better.. NS: the screen scratches really easily..

I have had this phone for about a year now, and overall it has worked well. It doesn't take long to charge up although it needs to be charged quite frequently. The screen is nice and colourful. The camera is not bad although the flash does absolutely nothing aside from blasting your eyeballs out. The radio unfortunately operates through the headphones, so if like me your headphones stop working you've also lost your radio. Almost all of the games are trials so not much entertainment there, which is a shame. It's a good size and weight, easy to carry around. The buttons on the sides are very useful; it is easy to change to volume as you are holding it, and also to access the camera. The touch keys seemed a good idea at first but I have had a lot of trouble with them; they are very sensitive so if my phone isn't locked I can accidentally call someone, or if I am already calling someone hanging up on them. The middle browser key is extremely annoying, I am often ending up on the browser by accident. All in all a good phone, particularly for the price; it looks nice but is also functional.

The two buttons left and right from the central joystick (pick-up and hang-up buttons) are WAY to sensitive. The slightest slip of the finger when in a menu, gets you right back to the main screen. You can suposedly set the sensitivity of these buttons, but this doesn't help the problem. Extremely ANNOYING!!! Never Samsung for me again (also had a G800 with bad experiences).

well when my U600 was upgraded from 512 to 2GB microsd card it became slow in processing certain operations and maybe if you exceed to more than 2gb it will became slower than ever.

I had this phone for roughly 2.5 years and it gave me everything i could have wanted. You wouldn't have thought it would withstanded half as much abuse as it got from me dropping on the floor,getting it wet and other clumsy things i did to it. However last week it finally stopped working due to me sledging repeatedly down hills with it in my pocket. So reluctantly i went and bought myself a new phone, only to find that 1 day later my amazing U600 had come back to life! Great phone - the best phone i have ever had!

Wats up U600 users, the U600 is a BOOOOOOOOMB though it has started giving me complications since the screen blacks out anytime and the images on the desktop turn like when one looks into a mirror then a problem with the earpiece coz it keeps silence when someone calls at times yet it is ringing and there is no single light when it is doin such, man, it at times nugs though its a very good phone one can afford to get. flex is just like a "cord tape" that connects the screen(upper part of the phone) and the lower body of the phone...

i got this phone 2 years ago... it was nice... i drop it several times but it is still working great. the sound quality is also great until now... image quality is also great.. but... i have a problem in this phone. once the original flex is broken... u need to replace it and it last only for 2months for me... and need to be replace again and again... it is costly... but... the original flex or the first flex is good because it can't easily broke..

Shooter, When you are in your music player you have to go onto 'Settings' then turn the 'Music player override other sounds' to on. Then it works!! Does any body know what video file types are supported?

Godd@mn it this phone is pure bliss! i had this phone for 1 year and a half and i only had to have it fixed once, kudos to samsung customer service since they actually replaced its screen without a charge when it got damaged on its 11 month. the only reason i bought a new phone was my ex lost it. so she became my ex and i got a new. phone jet is nice by the way the screen lag is forgivable basically i love it almost as much as my u600. it has to prove itself to me though.

I got this phone 2 yrs ago, black. It is a But the phone is so slim i drop it often and the screen registered a white screen and then went blank. I got it repaired twice in 8 mths into the purchase. & I blamed it on the number of times i dropped the phone. & In the end i stopped going to the service centre totally because of the extremely poor service i got from the Samsung service centre. My verdict, it is a good basic phone and is pretty.but must take good care of it.

ive have this phone b4.. if i wer u u should choose u600 than u700 since the flex is better than u700 my gurlfriend have u700 and have the flex replaced three times within a year.( good thing it is under warranty ) and now she no longer use it since the flex was broke again ( no longer under 1 yr warranty ).. i have my u600 for 2 yrs and my gurlfriend is using it right now.. i have replaced the flex only once after a year and 5 months of usage.. so u600 have a better flex..

I have had my U600 since august 2007 and I love the phone's look and it's slim body feels great when held in hand. As for its functions,the phone offers a camera that can produce quite nice pictures and videos(bear in mind though,the camera is not really usable in dark),image editor is also nice,sound quality is very good but the phone isn't very loud. Since I bought it, I haven't had any problems with the phone - it still works great(slow memory card reading is irritating,but normal for this phone so if you're going to use it,get used to it). There is one thing,though,that I find most annoying of all. I have never dropped the phone and instead of carrying it in my pocket I carry it in a leather case. All in all,I take great care of my phone. Still, there are a lot of tiny shallow scratches on my screen and the back of the phone and the paint on the edges on the top of the phone is starting to peel off. That makes me wonder, how would my phone have looked like if I hadn't taken so much care of it? I know the answer because a friend of my has the same phone but often drops it and alway carries it in the pocket of her jeans or in her handbag(along with keys,makeup and many other thing that can scratch the phone). My recommendation for potential buyers is: if you want a phone with great functions,you are looking at the wrong phone; if you want this phone because of its looks(as many do),be prepared to take good care of it because if you don't the phone will lose its good look after 6 months or so. If you buy it, give it the attention it deserves by buying it a leather carrying case.

you can only use this function PAL/NTSC once u have a TV out cable.. you have to purchase the cable or borrow it from someone who does have.. once you connect it to your TV.. you can view ur pictures,videos,sms and listen to a music with ur tv as the screen..

I have this phone since august 2007 and i really love it...it has unique msg setting like the vivid mode and gurls do love it..camera is good but not as good ( night - flash shot ) as cybershot phones that has 3.2 megapixel..it can store up to 1000SMS..you can have 3gp short video as a wallpaper but it consumes too much battery..my battery only last a day .thats the downside though..whats the initial standard charging for most phones specially samsung phones ? bcoz i only did 4 hrs charging when i first bought it..when playing mp3 - the system runs slow when txting..not a problem 4 me...my phone broke last jan 2009( i dunno wat happened ) - it has something to do with the flex and motherboard - and have it repaired..they replaced my motherboard - China made..ive check mine b4 and it was finland made...since then my phone dropped twice ( one in a bamboo floor and carpet ) till now my phone is still running and alive but already have some defects like the keypad - u have to press hard some keys to choose the right letter and the answer key ( touch sensitive key) is no longer working..so i have to use speed dial to make calls... im just waiting for this to be fully not operational b4 i will buy a new one..im thinking to buy samsung s3600.just a basic phone with the all the features... i no longer like slider phone bcoz of the flex issues..my gurlfrend have u700 and within a year her phone's flex was replaced three times..good thing its under warranty...Overall i was satistfied with this samsung u600 for two years...sexy phone and nice features...yahoo!!!

After about a year of using this phone the screen has really gone dodgy, it goes black all the time and it makes it very difficult to even send a text. Ive actually never dropped the phone or anything and lots of people have complained about the same problem. I wouldnt reccomend this phone simply because of how easily it is damaged.

I am sorry to say I owned this phone two more than two years ago when it came out. What a terrible experience. At the time I thought it seemed stylish, it was after all very small and light. The specs were fairly good though every other phone in it's class voice dialing and voice features that this phone lacked. The phone looks nice when it is new, but rapidly mars and dings and scratches look horrible on this thing. The sliding mechanism gets very floppy with a lot of lateral movement. This is not a quality device by any means. The plastic is thin and cheap and has a considerable amount of flex. When you feel the phone in your hand it does not feel like a high-end Motorola or Nokia phone. With that being said, the screen is nice when it works, but the plastic screen cover is awful and quickly becomes scratched. No mineral crystal here. The touch screen buttons are very responsive, almost to a fault. The keypad and bizarre interface makes texting a nightmare. The phone is extremely slow and clumsy and unstable. Reading from the memory card or taking pictures takes a obscene amount of time. The worst part about the phone is the terrible reception and mediocre call quality. Because it is among the worst in both aspects. It is simply not a good phone, especially if you care about call quality and reception.

I have a U600 phone and I don't really like it 'coz the keypard is so hard to press. it is so delicate that when you touch the screen, it blurs, that you can't see the icons on the screen. I only used it for a very short period of time.

well, i would like to disagree on some comments here as i had this phone for over a yr now and I dont have any problems with the camera as it takes clear ones. phones reception is good and battery on standby w/ minimal use usually last me 2-3 days. just be careful not to put this phone in your pocket as this is a slim phone and all sorts of problems may arise when you do so.

I'm so sorry for you. I used three nokia and I had problems with the phones soft. It freez, it was necessary to take out the battery and put it back in phone. But, still I am nokia fun, I prefer to use my last nokia like phone because of its battery (after 2 years keep around 10 days, u600 after 1 month the battery keep 2-3 days). So, my u600 become my personal photo camera and mp3/mp4 player, not my personal phone. :)

I'm agree with you about the speed of taking pictures, is slower like a dedicated photo camera. Who has a phone like this, he/she has to accomodate with this disadvantage. I keep my observation: take very beatufiful pictures, for a phone, of course. This phone can take faster photos (has an option to set how many frames takes) but the photo resolution is 320x240 (not good), that is.:)

I have a contract lease and changed this model THREE times in the first twelve months, twice because of screen problems and once because the battery was draining completely when the phone was switched off. The camera function is slow to respond when taking photos, and often the action/scene has changed before the 'shutter' has opened, although the auto focus is a useful function. I personally would not recommend this phone, or maybe I have been a little unlucky!

Make very good quality pictures. I compare photos of the same scene take by a Nokia 5130 and by U600. U600 take the best. Because the u600 has autofocus the picture will have very good quality (beautiful colors, clear images). You can take pictures of scenes, peoples and texts and you aren't disappointed. On night conditions you can also record movies because it has a LED light (the flash).

Great little phone had it for 9 months sat on it dropped it still works, great features for a cheap phone. people should read the manuel all the things people are moaning about are in their as well as the samsung website.The camera shot delay can be alterd in the settings the battery problem charge the phone up overnight with the phone turned on the next night do it with the phone turned off now the battery is calibrated.the screen and key problem is dust and static fron our pockets i turned the phone off slide up and put the hoover pipe then its ockay hope this helps

fadz, you can easily change the way you answer the call: go on menu, settings, phone settings, slide settings, then change UP from 'accept call' to 'None'. This will give you a chance to see who is calling you, before you press 'accept' to answer the call. hope this helps (:

I also have this phone, it is really good and I also like how small and slim it is. The camera is of very good quality for photos and videos, at 3.2 megapixels. There are two colours that are widely available - dark blue/black and violet - so the phone can suit anyones needs. Overall I think this is a very good phone, and I recommend you buy it if you want something a bit special that not everyone has.

after about a year of using this phone, the LCD screen stopped working, and when it did it was upside down. although a major problem, it may have been a one off and this is the only problem i encountered. the screen is prone to scratches, and fingerprint marks should be expected. overall this phone is easy to use and should not be an inconvenience to the user.

the thing is that it doesnt detect that files are music files... and when music is stored on the mem card and u remove it and reinsert it... the musoc doesnt appear on the music player and it doesnt transfer music from the phone to the music player. and the time taken to acess the memory card is a long time.

i had this phone for a while and a very good phone. the only thing that concerns me is the sensitivity. i.e. it wont give change to see the screen display for incoming calls, coz it will auto asnwer the call when i try to pull out from the pouch. it would be nice if i can see whose calling first before asnwering the call.

this phone is awesome i bought it when it became available.. why are you having second thoughts for? this phone is very stylish and cute.. comes in 5 colors.. for the people who are having problems with ther phone.. i think it depends where and who you buy it from.. some places will sell you refurbished items and that goes towards any phone brand.. so be aware of that and ask the seller questions.. i workd with all phone brands nokia, motorola, Sony E., but i always come back to samsung phones.. Going on my 3rd and buyn the samsung Ultratouch.. my personal opinion is the samsung features/ prgrams fit my needs from alarm clock to image editing.. and the phone itself is durable.. But thats just my opinion.. i hope it helpd =)

BUT for the time that i had it i was VERY PLEASED.. compact, cute, and very stylish.. as for as prgrams and features its only slightly different than older samsungs.. some highlights 1000 for txt message, mp3 ringtones, photo id, scratch resistance screen, video cam, and flashlight.. the only real DOWNSIDE to this phone i think is when yer out in the sun the screen has glare - comes with sun mode, but doesn't really work that good. if you like a cute stylish phones i'd say you can't go wrong with this phone.. Im getting the SAMSUNG ULTRA TOUCH now! samsung phones are relaible vs SE phones if you ask me .. SE phones falls apart and get damaged easly my cuzn had TWO SE phones during my THREE years with ONE samsung.. keep that in mind

My U600 got damage because of the rain... I brought to a service center and the technician opened my U600 and told me it was a goner...He told me to buy a new phone instead of having the phone repaired...9 months after...I just tried to charge my dead U600 and it was a miracle....The U600 worked after 9 months of hibernation in its box.... I saw how the technician took apart the phone and saw everything was corroded ...well digital miracle happens...I still love the U600 despite its bugs... So slim yet complete...

I have to say im very disappointed with this phone. I've only had it about 5 months now and already it's decided to stop charging!! Also the battery life is pretty poor, required charging every night and I didnt even use it that much to drain the battery. One main annoyance I had is that it doesn't even have a silence call button; you have to either manually lower the volume when a call comes in, or just put the phone constantly on vibrate - only a small thing but still annoying nonetheless. Going back to Nokia for my next phone.

Yes! I bought this Samsung u600, 2nd hand (thought it was brand new) yesterday and when i start to try and use the flash of the camera. damn. it never works. and the phone starts to hang up and the touch keys and some weird stuff is going on already. NEVER REALLY BUY THIS PHONE! really classy at first but NO. ITS NOT USER-FRIENDLY. might wanna use Sony Ericsson or Nokia.

This phone is nice - at first. Cute smileys and all... Then after a year, or less, those touch sensitive keys start to not work... then the keypad follows. Then later, the screen would start showing weird stuffs! - If you encounter this problem, have your phone's "flex" fixed! Unfortunately, the new one would last for 2-3 months only, then you'll have to have it changed again! (and it costs a lot!)

I use the Samsung PC Studio 3 software to back up my messages, contact details etc. I've saved over 8000 messages from my phone to the PC Studio Message Manager. Now I'm in a desperate position in formatting my computer. But by doing so I'm going to loose all my priceless messages. Excellent design but did not last long... My U600 last only for 8 mos... After 8 mos, the screen display is not working because the wire the connects the phone and the screen were damaged by sliding.... disadvantage of slide phones....

I got this phone about a week ago. I kind of like it but I'm having a problem with it. This is a really good phone as it is really slim so it will fit into anyones pocket and has a really good camera, though it takes 5 seconds to take the picture. Also, it is good because it can read basic documents such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and and PDFs. Also, it has room for extra storage so you can have a Micro SD Card. I have had this phone for 4 monthes and I have not experienced any problems with it. YAY GO THE SAMSUNG U600!

Stay away from this phone. I am not sure why anyone would still want it, it is basically a welfare phone at this point. If you cannot afford a nice phone and think this phone will pretend to be one you are surely mistaken. This is the most unreliable phone on the market. The phone is ungodly slow, the interface is menacing at best, the bluetooth configuration is dangerous and just plain awful, the call quality rates among the worst, the reception is terrible, the battery life awful as well. Believe me this phone is worse than anything on the market. Do not be fooled by the sleek design, it is really a plasticky pos phone.

this phone has very nice features and i can use most of them it has great pc sync which i like the most. unfortunately, everything is too good to be true..i had this phone for almost 2 years now, and the flex was broken 2 time already, i think this the flaw of all the slide and flip phones since, no matter how careful i am in sliding my phone it still broke... but i do recommend this phone, for those busy people out there but i have to warn you, after 1 year or so, this phone is good as junk.. and it will start to break depending on how you use it, could star as early as 6 months....

However, I've had it only 5 months and the slide is already extremely loose and there is a lack of connection - I have to hold the phone together for it to actually send the message. Also the cancel button isn't at all sensitive and I've never been able to cancel a sending text message. Good design but the system is full of buggs. Sometimes when you are looking to your pics you have taken the phone block and then shuts down. And allso if you want to add for example a picture of a friend that you have put on your Micro SD card you need to copy the picture to the phone memory! Thats not very logic!

Well i gotta say I did like this phone. I had it for about 3 years. I had to have my first one replaced (Aerospace industry and this phone dont mix well). However I did like this phone and replaced it with the same model. I liked the fact that your bluetooth couldn't be hacked, but the way in which that had been sorted out left your phone unable to install applications. I only had one problem and have found it quite common amongst others who have had the same phone. This is the charging/data port and the fact that the connection is weak and breaks very easily, causing you to have to jiggle the cable around to get it to charge. All in all a stunning phone. I'd give it a 9/10

That's a common problem in most slide phones. After about a years use the cable connecting the buttons in the sliding part and the rest of the phone start breaking. Soon all the buttons will stop working and possibly even the screen. Don't slide your phone too rapidly if you want to stop this. The good news... its fixable by replacing the cables. >Visit your phone servicer.

Brilliant fone. It holds 1000 text messages and 50 on your sim. Is this the only Samsung fone that has this amount? Usually it only holds 500 (Samsung F400 and Samsung U900 Soul) and Samsung G600 only holds 200 plus 50 in sim. It doesn't show you the time or date when you send a text message but if you go into your call log it will tell you, plus I get delivery reports and that shows time and date. I also like the way a text comes through and when somebody has typed certain words like bus, cake, cat, dog etc, a picture of that word appears!! It's really good.

I've had this phone for about a year now and its no where near as bad as some people say it is. Personally I like it. I've even gotten sand in it and the sliding action is still smooth. Granted the touch screen can be a little annoying while texting but most of the time its fine and you get used to it quickly. The music player is a little slow but the memory card isn't. And you'll only need to charge it everyday if you use it as an mp3 player. Its a good phone and I don't regret buying it.

I only got this phone cos my last phone (Samsung D600) was so awesome, and so reliable, good reception etc. Over 18 months of ownership, my U600 has been the opposite of everything my D600 was. It keeps switching itself off & on, (only tuning off the predictive text stops it doing this), the camera is the worst I've ever seen on any phone coz of the lag, the display keep fading off....Its a hopeless, useless phone. Avoid!

I never read so much about nothing. Your excuse for a review undermines any accurate analysis myself and many others have put forth over a long duration of time. Those of us we expressed our experiences throughout the ownership of this phone. Now please do not compare the battery on this phone to the N series from Nokia, especially the N95. Because this phone is at a huge disadvantage in the battery department. Let's not even go there because you do not know what you are talking about. Now as for the voice quality of this phone being compared with Motorola's own "Crystal Talk", it is more humorous of a statement then a statement that would say your perspective is relevant here. I cannot think of one Motorola phone made in the past six years that has worse voice quality than this phone. And let's talk about the awful reception. I was getting two bars where I would get five on nearly every other phone I would try. Not only that, but in borderline locations this phone proved unreliable at holding and finding a signal, aka "bad reception". Now as for the camera: if you think that a camera with a four second lag in the shutter is a good one, then kudos to you. Because I surely don't. And the pictures are not bad if you use it in bright light with minimal movement, but it is nothing special. The lag ruins any joy the megapixil count will give you.

I have the samsung u600 for 2 years now. Its the phone i stood for the longest time. After droping it maybe 4 times and once in the water it is still working !! the pictures are amazing and the flash is still working. The screen is stil perfectly clear and the buttons are perfectly working too. Never had problems.

Because I never imagined Samsung would create such a piece of utter trash. As for your comment, who needs to lie about owning this phone? It was never a high-end phone by any means. And it can be purchased for next to nothing these days. The phone has some good ideas to it, they simply were not properly implemented. The problems with this phone are so numerous it is difficult to decide which is the worst. Everything from the cheap plastic screen cover, to the horrible battery, to the terribly slow utilization of the memory card makes this phone unbearable to use. The camera is really not that good. Actually it is much worse than the 3.2mp camera on the Moto Z10. And it simply is nearly impossible to take a pic of anything that is moving. The fact that you can only have perform one operation at a time also sucks. You cant have any applications open in the background like with every other phone on the market. The music player is also deadly slow and lackluster. The bluetooth operation of this phone is insanely bad, so bad I cannot comprehend. If this phone was actually made for the US market there would be so many lawsuits over the bluetooth it is not even funny. I see not many people have mentioned how terrible the reception of this phone is. This phone has the worst reception of any phone I have ever come across. And I am being serious as I have tested it against every phone I could. And the reception is not just a little bad, it is significantly worse than most phones on the market. The call quality is worse than any Nokia or Motorola I have used. It is literally 2nd rate. It is a terrible "phone". If you love quality, if you love to have a phone that sounds good, that feels good in your hand; this is not the phone for you. Trying to send text messages on this phone will bring you to tears as you will end up erasing many messages or saving them to the drafts folder. It is also painfully slow, so you will have a huge learning curve, and even when you get over the curve the texting will still raise Cain.I can go on and on, but the point I am making is that I implore everyone to stay away from this phone. Do not make the same mistake myself and thousands of others have made. This phone has one of the worse track records of any phone in cell phone history. I cant think of one phone that has more complaints, one phone that has more issues. There are so many better phones on the market than this one, even by Samsung. This phone was a huge mistake, do not let yourself be taken in by it. I assure you it is rubbish.

I got this phone two days and I'm loving it. The slide design is really comfortable however it takes a little time to get used to it. It's got a voice recorder, good quality camera/video camera and a decent music player. It's not the best but it suits me well. And of course, there's the nice user interface. There is also a reasonable selection of Java games and internet browser. Overall, I think it's worth it... but not exactly the one with the best music player.

it does not play mp3 in the background! you can't even read an sms that arrived while you were listening to music. it takes 5-10 seconds to start playing and again when changing tracks. the "visualization" is just a bunch of silly images with no relation to the music. they could at least put a waveform or something, doesn't need a powerful cpu. it has 32 character filename limit. i thought we stopped doing this since 1995? opera mini can't save pages or read files to send as attachments (e.g. at gmail.com ) the interface is a bloody mess. You can view the next or previous photo with the left-right buttons, but ONLY for the photos in the main memory. you can't do that with photos in the memory card. to view next-previous sms, you need to press * and # instead. the side buttons either work as up-down, or as volume or as other things but you are rarely told what it will do. scrolling a photo takes 1-2 seconds each step. if you press [Back] by mistake when writing an sms, you are asked "save to drafts?" [yes] [no]. you can not cancel. your only option is to save in drafts and reopen the message from the drafts, or you lose the text you wrote. when deleting characters in sms, you can not hold down the C button to backspace quickly, it deletes the entire text, no questions, no undo you can do about 7 10 button presses to select a section of text, and then 'remove' it when the battery gets low, it shuts down any program you might be running, no questions. afterwards, you can't run anything you can't open the camera. the keypad light turns on when you press the unlock/power button, even if you have not opened it. but if the batter runs out, the keypad NEVER lights up. you might be in the dark and in desperate need to call but you can't see the keypad. java is ridiculously slow. opera mini takes... 15 seconds to open and 6 seconds to close. google maps takes 37 seconds to open. java is practicaly useless because you can't keep a program open in the background. camera takes 4-5 seconds to take a photo. side buttons do not zoom in-out (but they zoom in-out when viewing photos...) bluetooth a2dp is low quality when connected with the pc you can't access the memory card from the phone. contact searching is case sensitive when sending an sms but not when browsing the contacts. in the home screen the side buttons change the volume... of the sound... that the phone makes when you press a button that does nothing. example: you are in the main menu and you press the 'call' button. because at that point the call button can't do anything (i dunno... maybe bring up the recently called numbers?!?!) it makes a sound. the side keys change the volume of that sound. completely wrong choice. it should change the volume that you care most about: the ringing volume! shortcuts work only when in the home screen. it's not a really good shortcut if you have to press keys to go to the home screen before you can use the shortcut. battery works for less than 2 days with maybe 20 minutes talking, 5-10 sms and about an hour of java. the volume buttons are right next to the connector so it's not easy to change the volume when you listen to music. i can go on...

i've had this phone for about a year now and i've had to have this phone fixed at least three to four times because either the battery wasn't working properly (it would be fully charged and then after 5 minutes of talking on the phone, it would say low battery.) or the screen would not show up. the screen would glitch and flicker and then it wouldn't show up at all anymore. i definitely would not recommend this phone, but i'm not saying that all samsung phones are this bad. it just so happens that samsung made a bad call on this one.

Maybe you are just envious of every other phone you wish you could buy, you settled for this one because it is cheap but comes with a seemingly impressive array of features, and bam! You bought the phone and want to validate yourself. Well, I bought the phone to, and when I bought it is was relatively expensive and new, and it was the most godawful experience I ever had using any cell phone. I go through cell phones and technology like you go through good ideas, maybe you will have one every six months or so...? The form factor of the phone is cool and when the phone is new the screen looks awesome, had they made this phone in metal it would have been far sharper. But they did not implement what is there. As a phone, it really does not get any worse then the U600. If you care about call quality and good reception, I assure you to run away now and never think about this phone again. Don't walk, RUN!!! The reception on this phone will leave you scratching your head wondering wtf happened? The battery is shockingly bad. While the open OS on this phone is fairly smooth, loading and utilizing external memory is unacceptable. I actually used a stop-watch and calculated how long it took me to load a video, take a picture and play a song: Loading a video can take anywhere between 14-22 seconds depending on how you configure your menus, taking a picture takes almost four seconds, listening to a track can take seven seconds! The screen cover is a very cheap plastic that has no protective qualities at all. The thing will get so f'en scratched and marred unless you are insanely protective of it, and even then it will scratch up bad.

Yes, today I went to the salesman and I told him the story of the battery, he replace it with another one and now I am testing how long the battery will last noting that I do not talk a lot in the mobile phone and I do not listen to the music or playing the games. Wouldn't recommend this phone at all. I've had mine for 18 months and twice the screen has broken - not physically but when you slide it up it just glitches or doesn't come on at all. First time I had it repaired under warranty 2nd time I gave up as I was out of contract and just got a new phone (not another Samsung I might add). Also the phone doesn't remember words that you add to the dictionary which is really annoyingif you commonly use names. This was supposedly fixed at that same time it went to have the screen sorted but 6 months later it started to 'forget' words again! Steer clear! This phone has totally put me of having a Samsung again.

i've had this phones for two days now. did a lot of research before buying it. read a lot of opinions. i'm not intrested in it's radio / camera / music player. just looking for a small, light, easy and quick to use phone. i think it's a great phone. i used motorola all my life and their problem is the slug on menus. i'm really satisfied in lmost everithing i was looking for, except for messages. you have to chose ringtone OR vibration. i'm used to both. i only hope it has a good durability.

I have the wrong provider? Maybe you need to do some research. Everyone knows this phone has horrible reception, it is not my opinion it is fact. Maybe if you could afford a nice phone you would come to realize this one is utter rubbish. Please do not undermine my reviews, just because you got lucky with your unit. And the phone has not even been available for two years, so obviously you are confused as to how long you had the phone. There are few phones in the history of cell phones that are as infamous as the U600. I am currently using the Motorola Z10 was using the V8 luxury edition and those phones blow away any samsung in terms of quality, build integrity, sound quality and reception. It is not even close. Trust me on this.

it's a good phone.although it takes some patience to use it, especially if you want to listen mp3's because it sometimes takes about 5 seconds to play a song(oh! by the way! i have 131 mp3's on it.so...) it has a quite bad reception in a supermarket, behind a shelf it was 0(zero). and after 4 months i had no problems with it.and i hope i'll never have.

I bought my phone in September 2008 and the phone worked great, the best features you could think of, camera and the works. In December 2008 the screen just went blank (total black out), the lights would stay on and drain the battery. I tried testing to see if it was the battery that was the problem but to my surprise it was not. I did an independent research from persons who owns the same model and surprisingly they all experience the same issues. Conclusion, it is a great phone but it suffers from the above problems. This has been my second Samsung branded phone that I have had issues with. By far they have some of the best features but very delicate phones.

No as a matter of fact the screen is one of the worst facets about the phone. Anyone who actually owns and uses the phone can attest to this. You do understand that every other manufacturer uses mineral or sapphire glass while samsung used some cheap consumer grad plastic screen cover, it is miserable. Aside from the physical, the phone is remarkably slow when reading from the memory card, which in essence renders the phone nearly useless unless you have all the patience in the world locked up inside of you. But as a phone, it is just not good. The call quality is mediocre at best and the reception of this phone is absolutely horrid. Pick up a Motorola V8 and then pick up this phone and you will see a world of difference in call quality and reception, and the V8 is hardly a good phone. I have never been so disappointed in my life from a cell phone.

No sorry to tell you, this phone is utter junk. It is a poorly made, poorly conceived, poorly implemented phone. You obviously have no understanding of the market and I will go further by saying you are not aware of what is available. For you, this is probably a step up from whatever you were using. For most of the civilized world, this is merely a conceptual attempt by Samsung to create a phone within certain size constraints. This phone is nothing more than a poorly implemented concept that should have never been produced. It is just not a good phone by any measure. Let's say you are right and I am wrong, let's say I treated the phone badly and that's why it broke after little usage, that's why the plastic screen cover got scratched and broken, that's why the phone is one of the slowest phones on the market and that's why even Samsung has stopped supporting it. It does not change the fact that the phone has HORRIBLE battery life, TERRIBLE reception, it has the worst reception of any phone I have ever picked up in my life. If you are planning on actually using this as a phone be prepared for horrendous reception. The voice and call quality of the phone are exceptionally bad, worse than any Motorola phone ever made. I do not know what bluetooth phones you have used or whatever bluetooth devices you have enabled but I have never come across a bluetooth phone or device that is so difficult, uncomfortable and dangerous to use. I guess you have never used bluetooth on a Motorola, Sony or Nokia? I don't see how pressing four buttons to do what every other phone on the market does by pressing one is a reasonable bluetooth configuration? But that just me, I have modern expectations from devices especially when a phone released in February of 2007 has an inferior bluetooth integration over a phone constructed in 2001(Ericsson T39). As I mentioned before the plastic screen cover is one of the poorest covers I have ever seen. It is simply cheap single ply consumer-grade plastic. It has no protective or visual benefits whatsoever. It damages and mars extremely easily. This phone has an alarmingly high fail rate, but you would not know that because you are a glum a$$ with no life and vision who comes on here with a demented glee to undermine my honest review of this junk of a phone. This is absolutely the slowest phone on the market, using anything from the memory card will drive you crazy especially when compared to any other phone.

I bought this phone as soon as it appeared on the market in my country and I'm still using it(that would be almost two years of usage).To me,it is the best looking phone ever and I'm pretty satisfied with its functions,too.After a bit more of one and a half year of using it,the flat cable and the slider mechanism still work perfectly.That is not "next to impossible",it is only a matter of care.I don't know what you've done to your phone but you obviously didn't take care of it at all.If you throw it,smash it or do something similar,of course it will brake but so would many other phones as they aren't made to sustain large amounts of physical damage.For those of you that do not take good care I recommend buying some other phone. My screen is also in perfect condition,no loss of pixels,just few minor scratches on its surface.There is a tweak with the screen,though.It is hard to use it under direct sunlight due to the reflective surface of the screen(it has a high-contrast sunlight mode which makes it slightly more usable under direct sunlight). The camera does take a while to shoot,but it's worth it as the picture quality is great(in daylight,when shooting in dark it's lower).Video quality is great,too. As for the memory card,it is very slow.I avoid using it for pictures and videos because it opens them very slowly(I measured 11 seconds to open a folder full of high quality pictures,about 4 seconds to open a picture).It opens music faster. Touch sensitive keys aren't bad.Upper keys blink when you press them,so you know you pressed them.When you press the call key,the phone automatically locks down so you can't accidentally end call by touching the end key.You can accidentally touch the end key and exit the menu,application or whatever you were doing,but if you get used to the touch sensitive keys,that will rarely happen. The bluetooth service works good on my phone,I had no problems with it.If you have problems with bluetooth headsets,you can always use wired headsets. Reception-no problem. The covers are quite good and show no problems. The phone's speaker isn't very loud,but it has excellent audio quality. My battery holds on for three days of average usage,but if you listen to music,play games or use the camera a lot it will drain the battery within a day. Not once during these almost-two years have I had problems with phone's software.It worked well and there wasn't any sing of strange behaviour.Perhaps you got a flawed phone. All in all,it is quite a looker,and has decent performance.It's not perfect,but it quotes high enough in my opinion.You should know,however,that the primary purpose of this phone is fashion.At the time it came out,it was the best fashion phone in terms of performance.Being a fashion phone,it also demands a certain type of users.This means that all those who do not take good care of their phones and submit them to physical damage should seek for a more resistant phone and those that seek excellent performance(if you want all the goodies symbian and windows mobile phones have)should seek among smartphones.If you like a good looking phone with a good camera and music player,and need a document viewer,than this is the phone for you.

This phone is total garbage. It just feels like a cheap piece of junk and operates as one as well. I feel sorry for anyone who has yet to experience this piece of crapola. This phone is nearly two years old, hardly top-of-line, actually it is quite cheap these days. ANd for good reason, what you think you are buying is not what you are really getting. This phone is seemingly feature rich yet you will never use the features you will never do anything with this phone other than constantly be perplexed by how mediocre it is. Those of you who think it is a great phone, obviously have no experience with cell phones. This phone can and will break at the first chance it gets. Finding people who have had this phone fully functional for even a year is next to impossible. Everything from the cheap plastic screen cover, the the flimsy plastic body is second rate and starts to feel as if it is compromised very quickly. I have never seen a phone that mars so quickly, and the screen is very delicate and easy to break. The screen also starts to lose pixels at an alarming rate. The slide mechanism is adequate but not robust as with many other "high quality" sliders. This phone is nothing more than a large compromise of everything so that Samsung could boast at the time that it was so thin and light and was the slimmest 3mp camera when it was released. The camera takes literally three seconds to take a picture. Reading anything from the memory card can take as long as twenty seconds per file! The touch sensitive keys will either drive you insane or leave you with a bas taste in your mouth as it could have been implemented far better with decent firmware. The bluetooth configuration on this phone is the worst that I have ever seen in my life. Using the bluetooth with a headset can prove extremely dangerous to your health as you need to unlock the phone which is a two step process, accept the pair and the confirm you are accepting the pair with your headset. It is bizarre. No phone jack port, the usb cover is not well implemented either. Another issue is how this phone behaves, and you have to learn how it behaves. You will have many glitches and strange shut-offs before you figure out how to "keep the phone stable". And even then, it will surprise you how poorly thought out it is. Another HUGE issue with this phone is the terrible reception. I compared this phone to countless phones: Motorola V8, V9, V3i, KRZR, Nokia 8850, 6280 and some others and this phone by far has the worst reception of any phone. You have been warned. The battery is the worst on any phone ever made most likely. You wont believe how bad the battery is until you start using it.

Hey, my sis has the phone in chav pink, and she's been having problems with the bluetooth. i consider myself a bit of a phone geek (check me out on the kc550 thread) but I cant find anyway to fix it. Quite simply, it refuses to be activated. Sometimes you try to activate it and the phone crashes and reboots, other times it just refuses to turn the bluetooth on. thanks for your help VP

The problem you might first fall might be the slider problem where some of them are really weak. Some are stronger when you slide up. Most of our customers came back for warranty just for the slider problem. In most cases, when the flex encounters a problem, the screen and touch pad will not response. Secondly, it's the battery life. It's not of the best out there and the battery indicator is somewhat not accurate. For example, when there's 1 bar left in the battery indicator, the phone would go off within few minutes time or indicates low battery. I'd say the outlook design is awesome and it looks very cool, whenever I take out my phone, I seem to be the center of attention. =) I've read reviews from all over the internet and most of them tells me that the reception is very poor, but I think it depends on your operator since I always get more than 5 bars in my place and I'd say the reception is quite good. Also, some said that whenever an external memory card is inserted, the higher the capacity, the longer it takes to read, also it takes time when changing mp3 tracks that are stored in the memory card. My advise is, get a 1GB which is more than enough and to prevent lagging problems. The keypad is too slim, which may be hard to press to those who have big hands or thumbs. A cramp feeling is felt whenever I type messages. The keypad is a bit sensitive, but it can be configured in the phone settings, so it's I'm not really bothered with it. But one thing is that, it's a pain to hangup calls despite you need to unlock the keypad in order to hangup calls. Despite taking longer time to hangup calls, this also means higher phone bills! As an advise, try to unlock the keypad first, right after the call is successfully made or answered for you to conveniently hangup the call when you have finished talking. Other than the above stated, the phone is fine. The picture quality is acceptable, the menu response is quite quick (depends on the firmware). Some of those who owns this phone which have very old firmware said that the menu response is rather slow. The built quality is acceptable and the speaker volumes are acceptable despite the Bang & Olufsen ICE Amplifier. Some have discovered codes or ways to make the ringing tones louder. Google it up. I'd keep this phone for occasions and I'll be using my reliable K810i for everyday use.

First of all, try charging your phone overnight, at least 8 hours of full charge. Possible, don't plug it out until the battery is fully charged. Try setting the dialing display to normal, then keypad tone to off. Also, set the vibration feedback to off. Test it again to see whether there's improvements in battery life. =)

I have had this phone since april so only 8 months and last night it turned itself off. When I managed to get the phone back on, it had wiped the memory of all of my pics/videos/music. VERY annoying. THing is though it didnt wipe my contacts or messages so Im a bit confused why it wiped the stuff it did. Also having problems with the alarms. If I save one it deletes another and it has changed them all to "wake up alarms" so i cant save them without changing the names to all of them. But because of the other problem I cant change more than one!! anybody else had either of these problems? I have to have this phone until october according to my contract!!!

I don't recommend buying this phone. I've had it for about 6 months now and it's already showing signs of wear and tear. The whole slide mechanism just looks weak to begin with, I seriously don't know how that has held up as long as it has, it's just a thin circular spring. The "soft" keys are over sensitive as you said, to open the phone, you either have to touch the screen or hit the soft keys (and one of the soft keys causes it to redial the last number). It has almost no worth while features so it's overpriced. The camera is good but you have to be patient with it. The battery lost its capacity quick (not that it had much to begin with). It lasts for about a day now and I don't even use it much AT ALL. Overall, if all you care about is looks, this phone is very good looking, and that's about it.

I am planning to buy this phone. But i am worried about few things. Heaps of samsung phones (slide) have poor screen lifetime and usualy turns wyt wit alot of usage. I think battery life greatly depends on both the usage and GSM provider's network quality. If all day long you're sitting with your phone talking to friends - no wonder it lasts only one day or two. I have this this phone for about 4 months now, and the battery takes 6-7 days. I usually charge it from Saturday's night to next morning, once a week.

I love this phone. However, 2 of my friends and i have experienced the same problem. the flex. not even a year and its broken. had it fixed though. then the next problem is the touch pad. after getting the flex fixed the touchpad gets busted. i dont know about you, but i dont think 3 persons suffering the same problem is not a coincidence. :)

I bought mine yesterday. It's quite slow when accessing the music player, takes quite some time to load especially when it's on the Memory card. Bluetooth transfer is slow and the battery sucks bigtime. I have plans to replace it with something better soon. I won't say 'stay away from the phone'. Hi ade, when you get the request for a pin number, type in the same number on both phones eg 123 on the u600 and 123 on the other phone and they will then pair and your file will transfer.

The battery suck from this modell you have to recharge it every 2 days without using it much. Love samsung, use to have the d600, gonna buy it seond hand again. The u600 if you talk handsfree you have to unlock the screen before you can dissconnect, very annoying!!! buttons are very sensitive, you have to touch them very softly. in one word terrible, I regret buying the u600. It is pretty but not handy! get it :-)

This phone looks great and has great features. But other than that this phone blows because of all its problems. Mine was running fine until the touch buttons started acting up. Turns out it needed a flex cable, $80 repair. Fast forward to 3-4 months later and my touch buttons are acting up again and this time my display is also really messed up to the point where it goes all black! I'm not even going to bother to fix it again im just gonna buy a new phone!

2gb is the maximum for memory cards on this phone, but I warn you: reading anything off the memory card will be like watching paint dry. I have never used a phone with a slower OS then this phone in my life. This is a terrible phone in every technical way. As for taking pictures, the lag is not one second but between three to four seconds. Quite considerable if you ask me. And the battery starts off bad, but gets far far worse the more you use it. The reception and signal strength on this phone is dismal at best. The bluetooth configuration is that of circa 1999 phone. It requires you to constantly pair and repair which is downright dangerous and defeats the purpose of bluetooth. The build quality is decent but within a few months the phone feels like a cheap toy. The plastic screen cover is crappy and scratches and mars easily just like the phone's paint job. This is not counting all the software quirks and counter intuitive operation that makes this phone worthless. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!!!

My Wife has this phone and was a bit worried about the shutter lag ... However , the four or five seconds includes the time taken to add the picture to the memory ... I panned the camera slowly and pressed the shutter and after a second the picture froze ... The shutter noise came after another couple of seconds which was after the picture was scanned and had gone into the memory ... As far as I can see , the actual time to take the picture is about one second though you do still have to wait a few more seconds before you can take another shot ... We were going to take the U600 back but now we are happy with the camera and will keep it ... Battery life is a bit poor as the U600 only has a 680mAh battery ... Replacements are available on Ebay that are 1000mAh which should improve matters a bit ...

Had this phone 4 ova a year, was very reliable and dropped it a few times by accident, still works. Touch buttons are VERY rarely a problem, looks amazing and is very light. However sound loudness can be a bit of a problem, but not at all if u r with m8s in a room or wateva. Comes with 5 game demos includin tetris(!!!!!!!) good call quality, nice sliding feel,easy to use but the camera takes about 5 seconds to take a pic after u press button, v.annoying, good video, all in all, SIK PHONE!!!!!!!

i bought this phone off a friend recently whos owned it for 18months+... the slider works fine the screen works fine the number buttons look like new but the rest of the phone is far from perfect condition and theres some fairly deep scratches on the screen. the music is hard to even hear, so not a lot of use looks good tho and v light, it can take a resonable about of damage but i rekkon a 1 yeah old could quite easily snap it in half if i text too fast the phone cant keep up on t9 the touch buttons kinda feel like there not sensitive enought when you want to touch them, but if you just brush one by accident, you 'WILL' end up calling somebody..or..anybody? however it looks good visually and the menu system is easy to follow, even for your nan hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......good for price, no 3g

i brought this mobile this time last year and everything was ok with it until it hit xmas. This is wen the screen went black but the touch screen buttons lit up and flickered i put it in repair they fixed it and a couple of weeks later everything got deleted and my mobile would play ringtones but it self and a high pich noise came out. i took it to the shop again and wen they gave it back it was fine for 4 months then hell ot loose again when message wasnt able to recieve or send and fone calls would not be used. i think samsung should give people their money back for this bad creation or at least give us a new fone to say at least sorry because fixing it costs more than the actual fone it self.

i bought my device in august 2007 and this trusty phone has not let me down since! Camera is reasonable for a 3.2 mpl. The design and samsung's hidden features (the ones that are not on the handbook) are amaaaaaaaazing to say the least. only fault is that its somewhat slow when accessing media files from the memory card, but i can live with it ;) when i bought it last year, it was on the market (sri lankan local market) for US $300, and by far that was the best in that price category. It is a very good looking phone but I am quite dissapointed. I had siemens and nokia before, both very reliable and nearly indestructible. As for this phone, it starts failing, the display occasionally goes bonkers or simply starts displaying everything mirrored. This is gonna be my last samsung phone, I'll move back to nokia, now that siemens themselves stopped building phones.

Sleek design very slim Good display Many features But the good points sadly stops here itself and it doesnt has good points with the performance of the mobile.. Bad points.. it has many features but none is at the best. Camera very slow and produce shaky pictures. Mp3 player is very slow. Gaming if u install games which has more than 500kb it ends in vein.. very very slow bad experience. It has strip connection between screen and mother board. if this strip went wrong everything in the mobile goes wrong. for me the strip went wrong for 2 times. Mother board had problem one time fortunately samsung replaced it bcoz it is within the waranty period. Ear phone is not very comfortable to use. Messaging is very difficult in this phone. If we send 3 message at a time and call comes at that time the mobile hangs. battery life is very very poor.. if we play games the battery will come for only 2 hours. This phone needs atmost care. if we drop the phone once thats it. its the end of its life. not solid construction. Pictures videos music cant be played or seen next to next option in thr memory card.every time we have to come out and again play. Accessing memory card is very very slow. We need so much of patience for it. Samsung should have concentrated much to give an better output for this beatiful concept phone. Overall its an average phone. it has many features all are not at the best and very slow device to handle. In the fast moving world we cant survive with the slow device. Not advisable.

i am just about to change my phone from the u600 after having nothing but trouble with it. in the space of 18 months(my contract) i have had it replaced 4 times due to the same problem. Whilst txting the phone freezes and restarts which is sooooo annoying, sometimes it makes random noises, and all of a sudden the words i had saved on the t9 dictionary have disappeared and doesn't allow me to save them again. the camera is also very poor quality, and takes aaaaages to take a photo!! I always had chosen samsung in the past with the u600 being my 5th, and had never had any bother like this before, however i am very wary of choosing samsung again due to all the hassle i have got from this phone.

hi you probably have had this answeared but the reason you cant tape more that a few seconds is because the camera is recording video to internal memory if you change the video settings to save to your memory card all will be well

Well I loved it until yesterday when the stupid screen turns black. I plugged the phone in after I took out the battery, put in the battery while it was still plugged in, and it allowed me to turn it on and it worked, now it's not letting me at all. DUMB.

I have had nothing but problems with this phone! Tha screen has cracked on the inside, the WAP no longer works, it often freezes and restarts when I'm in he middle of a text message, the camera rarely works and when he camera doesn't work I'm unable to receive picture mesages either! It's also wiped its memory of its own accord 3 times, losing all my photos and ringtones and as of last night, it is now completely mute! No ringtone, no vibration, no text message alert and if I try to call out, I can't hear it ringing or anyone answering at the other end! Nightmare! Not chuffed at all1

I had this phone since summer 2008, at the time it was out in Canada. the camera on this phone is good over all with taking picture and video, but it is kinda slow. The touch button is great, but if your not use to it, it can be a huge problem ( hit the wrong menu ) there is a lot you can change in this pohne like: colors of the background and then number when you dial, clock style, also different kind of dialing graphics. the mp3 works well but speaker quality isn't the best, but is still quite good. this phone does run java games but be worn, playing games can kill a full charge juice in less then a day! there is a sd slot for you micro sd but, you can't use a 4gb micro hc, only a older micro sd. I got a 2gb micro on mine. larger size card can slow your phone, because it doesn't support larger size card. the slider is ok, but can't break if you use t too many time. you can see the display pressing lower volume button with out sliding. you can go and buy a new color case, but this phone is by fair the most difficult to change case! the North America version came out for Telus juts recent, but is the lower end version. Over all I like this phone a lot and still using it while at work.

Well I bought this phone last novemeber, and overall, I was very happy with it. For starters, i'll write out some good/bad lists to help you out. Good: -Nice quality camera -Stylish -Lots of options (image editor) -Good music quality -Easy to use -Expandable memory -There's more, just kinda upset with the phone right now to think straight. Bad: -Randomly crashes and restarts (especially during long text messages lol) -Camera is slow -Ring tone starts out quiet, then goes loud -Touch keys are too sensative and not sensative enough, for those who have it, know what I mean. -The bigger the memory card, the slower it reads it. -Battery life is horrible, especially if you use it to listen to music, usually a day of battery life, tops, unless you barely touch it. And the reason I am very upset with it is that it has died. FOr no real reason. Its a common problem as it turns out. First the speaker will go, so you won't be able to hear anything, then the vibrate feature, then the screen starts acting up, and the final stage? The screen is just black. The backlight turns on, the phone turns on, but no image appears. It is caused by a chip comming loose on the board of the phone. There are ways to fix it, but it happens to a lot of people, not to everyone, but a lot. It is supposadly caused by dropping the phone too much. Which barely happened to me. Overall, its a great phone, and if you get a case or something, you should be fine. Its really sharp and just beautiful image quality and everything. Its not perfect, but its a beautful phone

I just got this phone last week and i'm liking it so far. Looks great and although the buttons may be sensitive, you can adjust the sensitivity in settings. You become used to the touch buttons. However, camera is very slow but makes up for it with high quality pictures. Only problem i'm having right now is i just purchased a 4gb memory card for the phone but says it doesn't recognize the format for some reason. Any1 know why...would a smaller memory be more compatible?

Looks. That is the ONLY thing good about this phone. It's battery is horrible, it hangs, the "soft keys" are exremely annoying. The phone will often re-dial by itself because when you slide it open your hand will inevitably touch the overly sensitive "soft keys". Switching through songs on the MP3 is like waiting for a family of ducks to cross the street. The speaker doesn't get loud enough so you often won't hear your phone ring when your outside. Oh and forget about counting to 3 to warn people when you take a picture...you'll look like a fool, you need to count to 20 with this phone.

i have had the phone a while now! not 2 bad, dropped it a few times and is still working. When someone phones me tho, the person's voice echo's which is very annoying. When listening 2 the mp3 player the speaker sounds very "tinny". The screen also scratches like anything. But all in all not 2 bad. Can anyone help with the echoing speaker??

good enough phone but just had hassle regarding texting....the software type in the samsung U600 is faulty - causing the phone to freeze therefore you cant write or send text messages! samsung will not do anything to help with this problem as they have not solved the problem in the software.

I've got this phone in black mirror.The design is awesome...class,style,sleek...amazing..I don't know any other phone on the market who looks so wonderful, so it gets 10/10 for design...I have read the reviews and a lot of you said that the battery life is very poor(1-2 days max)and that is NOT TRUE because my phone last 4 days with a 15-20min talking/day few pictures and a little mp3 listening (in the first day when i bought the phone the battery life dry out in 1 day but i let the battery to dry out completely and then fully charged it back and since then it last easily 4 days)but of course if u play mp3/radio take pic and video, play games all day the battery wont last only a day max and i don't know any other phone to last longer...I didn't experience any problem with the phone yet...but it has a disadvantage because is very SLOW when u listen mp3 watching mp4 video and sadly when u take pictures also... but in rest this phone looks just amazing and that's why i bought it !!!

I have the Samsung U600 and to be honest it's a great phone, the only problem i have with it is the fact that after a while the slider becomes weak. Also i have found that my touch senstive buttons take longer to work. I had my phone for christmas 2008, and i look after it very well but for some reason the screen has started flashing and the picture quality is no longer as good as it was. If i could go back and choose my phone i wouldn't of choose this one as it hasn't kept up the relabitly.

Where do i start? had the phone 4 3months and the screen cracked on the inside! was not impressed! also, the very unpractical touch screen was useless and frustrating as the slightest touch would cancel a conversation on the phone!! :( also, when typing a long txt, the slightest tap kept deleting the message!!!!!!!!!! to s_ali- No, can't record radio. I just tried. Once you try to activate the voice recorder it turns the radio off. The g600 has that feature but u can't record call conversations on g600. HEY FELLOW U600 ONWERS: Is there any way to program a number key to voice record while on a call? It doesn't recognize shortcuts while on a call and I have to jump around the menus to get to it. The d900 had a firmware version you could load where you activated the VR during a call just by hitting the camera button.

Hey there is a way that you can use the Samsung U600 as a flash light! All you have to do is to press and hold down the volume button (it doesn't matter wich one you hold) and the light shines! If you want to turn it off you simply do the same, hold down the volume button again! ;-) Hope this helps!

I have the Samsung U600 for a year or so, and I'm very satisfied from the phone! And yes you need to be very gentle with it, and patient with the touch buttons and how the phone responds. But the slimness of the phone is great! At the end of it all the phone is worth of buying it! :-)

Well I have had this phone for about almost a year now. here is what i have to say First off the phone it self is awesome. I was attracted to it because of the design. Yes it is ultra slim and with the 3.2 megapixel camera, i have decided to buy it. The phone is very slim and this may be a positive trait to some but if you drop it accidently, damages can be seen clearly. Also the 3.2 megapixel camera sounds great but it takes forever for it to take pictures. Dialing a call takes quite a delay sometimes. But other than all these disadvantages the phone itself is amazing. The sound is perfect and the phone is fun to play with. The vivid text messages make texting fun but on the other hand, you get annoyed with it later on. Bottom line is i think this phone is great. Even though its not the perfect phone, i would say this is one of the best sliders out there in the market. =]] hope it helped

my u600 from bmobile works great! had it for four months now. never had a problem. its not the most glam phone but its quite sassy. you just have to be very gentle using it. its not ruggid like some of the nokias & motos out there. its also not the newest on the samsung, so if you want something more current & have a lot of money to waste on a cell phone then buy something else. but my u600 is working for me so im not going to complain.

Owned for a few months. Bought for slim design. Not camera or mp3 or other features so really care little for that performance. Took awhile to get used to the 4 x touch keys but now is fine with me. Speaker has developed a tinny echo on calls. Dont use loadspeaker or mp3 so its hardly been taxed.. Slider is crap and wobbly. Wondering if it'll get worse over time or wether its got all the movement it wants now.. Otherwise, fine. Nice and light but if you crave all your gadgets in one, like i dont, look else where I guess.

I guess that I am not the only one that have problems with the mp3 sounds. I can hear the sounds that come with the phone loud and clear, but if I want to assign my mp3 song for a ring tone, the sound is more than poor.

I will review this phone because some people simply cannot read nor comprehend. Before you post questions why don't you read the past replies. This phone has been out for nearly a year and a half, and I assure everyone every subject regarding it has been discussed. At this point if you are purchasing the phone you most likely are not seeking newer technology nor are you looking to spend a lot of money for a phone. So I am assuming you would have less expectations then myself. I will first address the hardware. The major issue here is compromise: between materials and weight. The phone only weighs 81g so they have compromised robustness for light weight and size. So the phone is not rigid, it bends and flexes, and the slider is simplistic and has a good amount of lateral movement. If you are expecting a high-end Nokia-like slider, this will not be a selling point for you. The slider is spring loaded, and requires a small but fair amount of pressure to open and close. I should mention that the phone is all plastic other than the keypad which is aluminum. I have found that the phone marks easily and even a small amount of damage looks bad on the phone. The plastic outer screen is total garbage, unlike the mineral crystal hardened glass many makers are using. The outer plastic screen becomes marked and marred very quickly. I will say that the LCD screen is nice and vivid even though my new U600 came with three dead pixels. The camera has decent coloration in good lighting conditions but is no better than Motorola's latest 2mp cameras. The camera is useless at night and the flash is worthless (non-xenon). Due to the auto focus which cannot be disabled, it takes several seconds to take a picture, and taking a picture of anything that is moving always comes out bad. The phone supported a 2gb memory card which is one of the sour points on the phone as reading any info from the memory card like pictures, music, movies takes an extremely long time and may require jumping through slow counter intuitive menus. I have to say that this is one slow phone. The slowest phone I have ever used. The bluetooth configuration on this phone is just terrible and dangerous to use. Having to constantly unlock the screen and pair the phone and agree to the pairing. There are too many steps when using the bluetooth even when you are paired and talking. The touch sensitive keys were not such a problem for me and a really a matter of preference. You will get used to them. But texting on this phone is a bit bizarre as there are too many keys and it is easy to end the message at any point or erase because the back and erase key are different. And they function in a strange way. Anyone who knows the phone can validate this. Erasing one too many letters will end the message and the delay when inputting data can be delirious. The call quality is mediocre and the reception is bad, not terrible but bad. The battery is worthless. I could not get more than 2.5 hours talk time on a new battery.

I bought this phone this time last year, its not all that and to be honest, I wish i never bought it. It wont let me send any texts now! Something is wrong with it, and it always happens when i buy a phone from Samsung. I can receive texts and calls and i can make calls too. Also it always freezes when you play music and text at the same time. Not very good.

yeah, what it is that there are the odd few ones shall i say, that dont have any problems and last for a very long time, since there are lots of faults for this phone, thats why something like ebay where you find people selling faulty phones. Normally you only get one fault on this phone which once it has been repaired, it is unlikely to happen again.

Purchased this phone last week. Now, when the screen is in the slide-up position, the touch buttons dont work. Nothing works. Anyone have this problem? It works if the screen is halfway down, but who wants to hold the screen half way down to text message, is it a bad wiring problem, ribbon cable, etc, something like that?

hey.mehdi. i suggest you to buy something better.disadvantages are:bad video recording(although its cif but its quality is less then normal.compare with n70 witch is cif too).2-its slow(becouse of weak cpu 80mhz)you can not send a bluetooth and play a music at the same tim.3-it doesnt have any os 4-shutter speed id very low so you will have lot of problem with camera .battery life is horrible!

i've had my u600 14 months of an 18 month contract and had it replaced by orange 3 times. first one; problem phone crashing during texting rebooting itself second phone; problem phone crashed during video recording then crashed again rebooted itself again but this time moved all media files into one folder in my media when entering this folder theres no files in there but showing phone memory as absoloutley full so couldnt receive any files third hand set ; problem loosing signal constantly going from 5 bars to emergency calls only called orange to check reception in my area came back as fine onto my 4th handset now hope fully it will last the last four months of my contract. NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE PHONES NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AND TROUBLE AND MORE F***ING TROUBLE.

I got this phone in october last year and for the past 3-4 months it has been tripping out and has finally given up on me. It has been sent back to the shop where bought and they couldn't fix the problem so it had to be sent off too a 3rd party. The phone was very good and stylish the only problems i found quite often was that the music player had to stop playing before i could look at any pictures. I did enjoy this phone for a little while until it began to slow down and i am a very fast texting girl so the phone can't keep up.I have had various problems with hearing other people on the end of the line and them hearing me. There are however some good qualitie for example: it is smart looking and small.I wouldn't recommend this phone and i am usually a very good judge of character when using phones this however did not get rated very well with me.

bought the set 1 months ago. the phone is awesome, sound quality is great(sonic sound experience). display is also awesome but its create problem when u outside or under direct sunlight. media player, messaging, remembering the last visit menu, camera, video and tv output is awesome for such a slim set. fm radio is extra advantage over its brother u700(u 700 also record video at qcif, where u600 record video in cif at 15 fps).i dn find any problem using touch button, its great. only problem so far i have seen in sliding mechanism. But i think its ok for a slim set. battery is average. it lasts 2 days with proper use of bluetooth, mp3 player, camera and calling. it has a great feature called u live(menu, messaging, remembering, media player etc). You will not understand this unless you buy this phone. previously i used N95. I know nokia is more advance than this phone. but believe me, It has such some nice feature that i love it over nokia. this is the best phone compare to the price.

ok, i understand most of what you are saying ... mine is 2 years old... IN THE TROPICS... i don t see how you would have a problem turning your phone to silent, when it does have an offline mode which would help if you want to have it on at work but no calls, or just do what normal ppl would do... PUT IT TO SILENT AHEAD OF TIME... YOU'RE JUST BEING LAZY AND BLAMING A TOOL... the phone works just fine for me, unfortunately, the screen got damaged, i do agree that the housing is flimsy, and the camera should have a quicker response time, but its a phone with a 3.2 megapix cam... its amazing either way... my complaint lies with the cam tho, try taking night shots in a club... with flash... you get 'ghost' shots... however when i tried with a ericcson of same year, crystal clear, not only that, you can't edit pictures that have been sent to the phone via bluetooth. its horrible. but hey... i paid like 200.00 u.s. for it... i still love it....

I bought this phone few days ago, for the first time this phone menu confused me bcause I used to goes with nokia. The advantages of this phone are: - Slim and stylish phone, feel comfortable in hand. - Very cool dialing display, as u can see in U600 review. - The battery is ok I think, it lasts for 3-4 days (standby mode). - No profile, only general and silent mode, but I like that and I think it makes it simple. I mean, how many times u're gonna change ur profile in one day? - Camera is good. - Music player is good, u can make a playlist on the music player. Disadvantages: - The switch on/off button is the same button as the unlock keypad button. It's very easy to unlock the keypad, and u have to hold the button more longer to switch on the phone,... BUT u need more pressure to switch the phone off! I'm struggling with it many times. - The sensitivity of the keypad is toooooo sensitive, and sometimes it works slowly. - It's so hard to find free U600 themes download on the net, not like nokia. - No 3G. - The phone automatically lock the keypad for every 5 seconds, it's a bit annoying because u have to always unlock it. Well, anynody knows where can I download free themes for U600? and how bout turning off the automatically keypad lock? thanks

The U600 is severely flawed. 1) You have to use special headphones from Samsung. There is no standard headphone jack. Also the radio feature requires headphones (the wire is also the antenna). 2) The "tv out" feature requires another cable not included with the phone (no mention of this on the box anywhere). 3) Mp3 files on the memory card can only be played by individually selecting them. No autoplay, random play, playlists. Individual selection. Browsing your files is slow and inefficient. 4) The interface is not customizable enough. No profiles for example. I have to keep my phone on during work but don't want it to make any noise in a meeting. You can't quite turn off every noise and stupid sound effect, even by holding # to go into silent mode. Having the "xylophone" sound play when I punch the wrong button is embarassing. 5) You have 3 font sizes to choose from, large, larger, and gigantic. I love dialing 9 or 10 digit phone numbers and seeing the last digit or two wrap to the next line. 6) Many reports from users about the screen going bad. (Google it) 7) Rather flimsy construction. Take the battery cover off for the first time and you'll realize that the plastic case is very thin. 8) Text messaging interface is disfunctional. It's extremely difficult to entrer a word that's not in the phone dictionary (by the way you can't remove or edit an entry once it's added). Try to back up and fix a word that you've already "finished" is so broken that you're better off deleting that word and writing it from scratch. It's super easy to press the wrong button and lose your message. 9) The camera is super slow to snap the pictures, something like 5-7 seconds. Good luck getting a spontaneous photo. I've learned to press the button then say "SMILE" after waiting 5 seconds. I've found you have to hold it down for a long time 2-3s to assure the camera will start the 5-7s process. 10) Using Bluetooth audio for music is difficult and tedious. If you back out of the audio player to use other phone features it disconnects (common because the soft button is so easy to accidentally bump). 11) The software to interface with the phone is flaky and chalked full of features that nobody wants.

sah11 i have had this phone for just over a yr, definitely one of the worst samsungs produced, screen cracked underneath, kept on turning off, screen went blank. ended up taking it back to the carphone warehouse where i bought it from and guess what samsungs has 2yr warranties. so take your phone back if its acting up.

Had this phone for a good 8 months now? It has it's ups and downs. Photos come out superb but the video quality is quite bad. It's video player is also limited to a 176x144 resolution (Large screen gone to waste). MP3 player is alright, no equaliser but the quality is quite good. So far this phone has been quite nice and adequate but not anymore. I read through some of the reviews and I realised I'm not the only one with this problem. The touchpad has stopped operating but only in the slid open form. When closed and unlocking the keypad, the touch works but when it's open it does not operate. My phone also turned off and I am unable to access my phone now because the touch does not work so I can no longer confirm my password...Basically this problem has now rendered my U600 useless...

well i find this phone is great, its the best phone made by samsung, but the phone runs kinda slow when memory is close to full. just ignore the slownest. but overal i will give this phone a 92% pass rate. its great man. JUST DONT LET THE PHONE FALL. THIS PHONE IS LIKE GLASS. VERY EASY TO BREAK!!

I bought one of these two months ago. Overall the design and functions are very cool. But, a BIG but, the communication is awful. I haven�t had a complete conversation with this phone. Doesn't matter that the signal bar is full, the quality always is like you are in a tunnel. I am changing it again. Don�t recommend it.

i have this for about 6mos now. it's stylish, beatiful and light. so cool to use. people just can't ignore the phone. nice interface and screen display. batt life not as tough and viewing files from the memory card takes time. taking pictures also takes time but good picture quality. nice picture editing extras too. overall it's a great phone, just ignore the slowness.

it captures also the sound when taking videos. you can save it directly to your mem card. you may choose where to save it, either mem card or phone mem.

Do not buy this phone, there is a slim chance that you may have no problems but if u have no insurance it could become costly. The guys in carphone warehouse do not reccomend this phone and i was told they have a massive problem with this model!! I have just been brought out of my contract on the u600 10months early due to the problems i was having with it!!

i so agree. its the worst phone i was on sony and boy do i regret switching i was in a bad situation where i needed 2 call 999 but guess what there was no network . then the battery died after i charged it for litereally the whole day. and im stuck on an 18 month contract so im screwed really :(... people do not get this piece of crap!

this is my second samsung phone.. i had it for 10 months now.. my phone works perfectly (has been dropped a few times) pretty DURABLE, CUTE, STYLISH and ALWAYS gets complements on how coool it looks. programs are pretty similar to older samsung mobiles with a few updates but wished the phone had better programs for how expensive it is.. so yer practically paying for the looks.. down side to the phone>> hard to see screen in sunlight even with sunlight mode.. camera is reeaaaly slow.. takes a getting use to with the touch pads, MP3 player is kinda slow but it doesn't bother me.. other than that.. this phone is great.. AND its advised to buy a screen protector =) (my phone doesn't have malfunctions cuz i bought mines from a legit seller be careful where you buy your mobiles from)!!!

Hey Guys, I'm having a problem here. I've had this phone for about 7 or 8 Months with no problems... However I've recently gotten a 2GB San Disk Mobile Premier Micro SD card for it. It seemd ok though it slowed down a bit which I expected. However now the Phone just seems to be turning itslef off whenever it feels like... This especially happens when the alarm goes off sometimes on mornings. Has anybody else experienced this kind of thing, especially after putting in a Micro SD Card? How do you deal with it?

I'm a SonyEricsson Person and i totally regret switching to Samsung! it's by far the worst cell i've ever used.. those touch buttons caused me to lose lots of credit, pretty slow processor, and a surely not-even-smart interface! battery drops to LOW in one day if the phone vibrates and/or the MP3 player is used for more than 2 hrs! and a usual BlueTooth file transfer malfunction..as for texting, the too flat keypad makes a more expensive long distance call, easier and preferable!

I wrote a review about this phone a few weeks ago singing its praises, but after a few weeks of use i wish to point out the following issues ive had with the phone. 1) Although the battery lasts around 3-5 days, once the battery meter gets lower than 2 bars, you do not have very long at all before the phone turns itself off. Very annoying if you left for work with your phone with 2 bars of battery but an hour later goes down to 1 bar then dies shortly after that. 2) Scratches very very easily. Ive only owned the phone a month but theres already a years worth of scratches on the phone. 3) Very difficult to see the screen in the sun, even with the phone in sunlight mode. 4) A bit slow in general, especially the camera. The battery problem alone has forced me to buy a different phone and sell this one on. It is a nice phone other than these points and i would have kept it had the battery not been an issue. I just been in too many situations where the battery has died and i hadnt charged it because when i last looked it didnt need charging because it had 2 bars on the battery meter.

samsung u600-my 2 cents I have many mixed feelings about this phone. I have had the U600 for about a year and I love it and hate it at the same time. Here are my gripes (and praises) in no particular order. Some of these are, in my view, serious bugs/design flaws. Others are just my own personal gripes. Like all phone reviews, please take it with a pinch of salt. ***crashes*** -in certain situations (I haven't yet worked out exactly), sending a text will result in a crash and reboot. -calls randomly drop after extended periods (30 minutes and up) ***media player bugs*** -wont read id32 tags in MP3 files -if id31 tag not included, the mp3 will not be listed/visible under the music player -sort order of tracks incorrect. The media player uses the embedded id3 track number field, but only uses the first digit. Hence tracks 10-19, 20-29 get listed before tracks 1-9. very annoying! -tracks with filenames over 64 characters not listed under music player. ***missed calls*** -if you get a missed call, and exit the popup. Then you get a text and exit that, the missed call popup comes up again! This can be quite confusing, fooling you into thinking you have a new missed call. ***other naggy issues/bad design*** -keypad tones uncustomizable, and annoying. Either you suffer the loud, obtrusive keypad tones or turn them off NOTE keeping them on could actually represent a security risk also. Each number has a unique tone, hence if you key in your password with the keypad tones active, it is reasonably easy to guess what password is being input just by listening. (probably this is just nit-picking, but still bad design. Imagine if keypads at ATMs did this!) -touch sensitive buttons very easy to activate while you are using the phone (e.g texting), which often results in accidentally dialling numbers, despite the most careful use. -poor shortcut customization. The u600 has very limited customization abilities. Users can customize the 4-way arrow pad, and there are 5 slots for "user shortcuts" on the up-arrow, but thats it. The select button cannot be changed from launching the browser, which again can often result in accidentally launching the browser -No ringer profiles, just on or off! -camera is ok, but slow to respond, and the user interface isn't clear or obvious. -a little fragile. I am very careful with my phones, and keep them in a case most of the time. However, the one time I dropped this phone (on a tiled floor from a height of one metre), it broke. The GPRS stopped functioning, and also the ability to send/receive text messages. Hardly what I would call solid construction. all these bugs present in firmware version XXGI1 (Sept 2007) ***positives*** -despite my many misgivings about this phone, there are some positives too. Here they are in no particular order -lovely user interface (despite poor customization). The icons are a work of art, and the speed/response of navigation is excellent -the touch sensitive buttons are also a pleasure to use (except when you call someone by mistake), and add to the general speed/responsiveness of the phone -aesthetically a very pleasing device, with excellent screen quality/resolution -ergonomically also very pleasing, feels solidly built -call quality good So that is my brief low-down on the U600. After a year with this phone, and having tried both Motorollas and Samsungs, I am going back to the tried and tested Nokia. Every user expects different things from their phone - for me, I have only ever wanted a solid, well build phone that is fast, responsive and handles the basics well. I never was too bothered about MP3 players, internet, cameras, and what tends to be lumped together as "bells and whistles". But ultimately you have to decide if it works for you.

ive had my u600 for 2months now from bmobile trinidad. the phone was really expensive when i got it. the price has drastically dropped since then. im not sure coz its still a high end phone. the phone works fine. its not the worlds best phone but its a good phone. the phone isnt cheap, it doesnt look cheap but the feel of it is very delicate. it is a beautiful handset with all the features the average user needs. it took me some time getting use to the phone, but im a pro at it now. its a nice phone. buy it...treat it with care...

Can someone pls help ? Just got this phone today and there appears to be something funny with camera settings - when I take a potrait photo it saves it in landscape format - and when taking a potrait photo all the menu items are the other way round as tho I was taking a landscape shot. Ive had this phone since the 5th of october... my friend got the same phone a day later and she has had no troubles with it. I on the otherhand have had a million problems... It doesnt like predictive text and doesnt like texting to fast.. which is a problem when it turns itself off then takes a while to turn itself back on!! Its currently on holiday at carphone warehouse repair centre for the second time in 2 months... I cant get a new handset until it breaks for a 3rd time!!! Has any one been able to totally swap handsets from the u600 to something totally different or have u been told to keep the u600?? Thanks xx

This phone should win the worlds slowest cell phone award. The phone will not support micro sd beyond 2 gb. And actually using that 2gb card in this phone will prove to be quite an ordeal. This phone looks good on paper but in reality it is nothing to brag about. The phone actually feels very cheap, and the materials are. The slim design and extremely light weight come at a price. A price many will wish they never paid. The review scores on this phone are very misleading as this phone has a extremely high repair rate. And those of us in the USA are SOL in terms of any warranty support. Despite the features and the size, I advise potential buyers to look elsewhere as there are now much better options out there.

I find this phone very dodgy- the battery life is terrible, my charger stopped working after about 2 months of having it, it freezes sometimes when I type text messages too quickly, and now it won't let me accept calls. when someone rings my only option is 'reject' and there is a bizarre picture of a computer screen on the phone...can anyone tell me why this has happened and how I can solve the problem??

Hiya, iv'e has my U600 about four months now and the keypad has stopped working completely, i now cannot get onto it as i have a security code on my phone. every now and then the keypad would freeze but then it would work again, now it has stopped working completely. i have not had this problem with the touch buttons though, has anyone else had this problem?

Had this phone about a week now, i think its good but not the best phone i have ever owned. The touch sensitive buttons are a great improvement on those on the E900, however, although i dont have a problem hitting the wrong touch sensitive button like i did on the e900, i sometimes have the problem of trying to get the U600 to a touch, mainly because when the slide is open, the top half of the phone is incredibally wobbly. The camera is rather good, although if you are mainly looking for a good camera phone, head towards the k800. The music player is excellent, the sound quality is fantastic and now you can search tracks via artist name and create proper play lists, something which had always been a let down for me when using older samsung phones. The screen is nice and large and crisp. In normal mode, its incredibally hard to see the screen in the sunlight. But there is "sunlight mode", which improves it, but probably makes the screen too bright. Battery life is great. Navigation of the phones menu's are easy. The FM-RADIO reception is amazing. The numeric keypad is uncomfortable to use, mainly because its completely flat therefore buttons are quite stiff, but also when you start pressing the buttons, the screen wobble is even worse. Very nice design, slim and lightweight phone. Overall a very nice phone, it has its problems, but nothing that should put you off buying one. If you are not fussed about the size or style of a phone, then you would be probably better off with the k800 (which i had owned for a year, a good phone but fancied a change).

I have had this phone the almost a year and the touch also stopped working when the phone is slid open but you have to get it repaired as soon as possible because eventaully it will stop working altogther even when the phone is closed.

I don't know where you get the balls to come here and tell us it is our fault the phone is a POS? I don't know how to use the phone so that is why it does not function properly? This was one of the worst phones I have ever used in my life. I can assure you I know how to use the features a lot better than you ice_man. This phone is severely problematic everyone including Samsung seems to know that but you dont. Your experience does not speak for everyone else's including mine. If you have no concept of technology than this phone my impress you, if you know what is out there it will not. The OS is insanely slow when using the memory card. The bluetooth configuration sucks, text messaging is counter intuitive, the camera is unbearably slow do to the auto focus, as well as the music player. The battery life is the worst I have ever seen on any phone ever in my life. The front screen cover is very fragile and the phone itself starts to feel cheap after a short period of time. Not too many good points about this phone.

so i've had this handset since october 2007(8 months to date) and its been working perfectly. i know a few people with the handset as well and they also got no problems with it. this phone actually lives uup the hype backed up by its manufacturers. its quite durable as well after constantly falling and being squashed. the camera is lovely, i mean its no digital camera but stll gives decent quality and it works great for taking pictures of text books and other wrinting as well. i've been reading and alot of the problems aren't the phone's fault...just take your time and learn to use the phone...inovations tend to be kinda different from others of its kind. all inall, this phone is quite classy, sophisticated and at the same time really not that complexed to use.

Hmmm.. I bought this phone when it was released. After 4 months, nothing on the touchpad worked as well as the round button. Nothing crazy has been done with this phone. Everybody, I know, who has this phone, complain about something: screen freezes while typing a SMS or low-life battery (which is totally true). Too bad, cause it looks awesome, but that's it! Too bad it doesn't work well. I have to use my old E730 now! (which still works fine). I can't wait untill the HTC touch diamond is released.

I have had this phone for about 6 months. I don�t like it. The size is good. I don�t like the toch"screen"-function, because it�s toooo easy to call someone istead of doing something else, can be quite embarrasing. The battery collaps after less than 1 hour with mpw/radio on (when started on full battery). The sound is bad when talking/listening. A good thing is to have mp3 music as both ringtone and sms-tone.For me; design 8/10. Features 6/10. Performance 3/10. My phone before thins one was better.

Camera takes very nice pictures but takes 7 seconds to take a picture! Soft keys are extremely annoying they have a mind of their own. Battery will last you only one or two days moderate use. Only thing good about Samsung phones are usually their nice design and this phone is no exception.

my dad bought me this phone from orange. when i first got i loved it. thought it was a great phone, ok yeah the touch screen buttons drove me off the wall coz you would never be able to use them how you wanted to. and then when its coming down to hang up, a phone call, you have to unlock, i mean what the hell. well i have the phone for almost a year now. great looking phone sleek and stylish. lately cant get it switched on though, keeps on refreshing and searching for network for some reason. dont ask me why i really dont know. well my mother has the same and she is quite happy with it. to be honest i use it only when i am in good mood because it really needs patience in order to use this phone. looks and design 10/10 performance 5/10 for any questions feel free to ask

I have mine for quite some time. I do charge it every evening, yes. But it can play music for hours. The thing, I really hate about it is its soft keys, battery life is IMHO not a problem (it always last long enough to be charged at home ;-) ).

If only the battery life was any good, the phone would have been a run away success. On normal use, the battery doesnt even last 2 days. Hence, I am having to charge it every evening! Very poor battery life. It is otherwise a good phone for what it is. Good camera with auto focus, good display, very sleek and stylish, improved predictive texting compared to its predecessors! The touch sensitive keys do need a bit of getting used to, but generally user friendly otherwise! Good camera phone badly let down by atrocious battery life!

got this phone 10 days ago. the appearance is ok, stylish & elegant. But the feature is not so good. Camera is rrreaally slow, and the autofocus is not good. Battery is BAD, can only last max 2 days even when I only use for text msg a few times. My old nokia can last 4 days. Music player is slow in changing track. If you're not a patient person, dont buy this one.

this phone is really really slow.. I just don't understand why some people actually say this is the best phone. I regretted getting this phone. The autofocus for the camera is just too slow compared to nokia phones and the "i" button can get very annoying when you accidentally press it and go online. Also the "i" button is sometimes unresponsive, eg when you are typing a message and when you want to send, sometimes I even have to press it 4 or 5 times to send it. overall rating in my opinion is 5/10

Crap phone - had to get a new handset twice as after about 2 months the phone kept on freezing and re-setting itself while you were trying to send a text message. Usually it waited until you needed to send something really important and then when you went into the mobile phone shop for a replacement it would behave itself perfectly and the assistant would look at you like you were a nutter who couln't work a phone. NOT to be recommended. Buy a Nokia or something that works is my suggestion...

You got it right. I'm using this phone for 2 years now and you have to be patient to know its potential. At first I'm annoyed at its keypad but I'm getting used to it now. Today its functioning great both EDGE and GPRS and its cool when playing games, but not too much I say because of its keypad :( Such a sophisticated phone.

i had this phone before and i was not satisfied with the features specially the physical appearance it looks like it will break anytime...well i like the sounds its very clear and also the vivid text msg, it reads the text word for word and even transform the word into image, like when enter the word roses, there will be pic of roses flying on the screen...but more than anything else...its just ok not the best.

Hi read all the various comments on the web about the u600. I have just ordered a replacement handset as after two months the touch sensitive keys have given up and the phone doesnt work . All i can do is answer a call as it is set on the "slide up to accept call" and "stop operation slide down" settings. Love its features but thats my second phone. Not had it freeze or switch off though battery is rubbish. The other u600 that i had wouldnt lock and answered and made calls when in my pocket!

Simple word of advice, do not buy this phone, for your own sake!! I had 3 in the first 3 months of my contract- the first 2 froze then turned themselves off whenever u used predictive text. The third appeared to be working so I kept that one... it worked for about a month (just long enough to go out of the month period where u could get a new phone on warranty!) and then did the same thing. They basically told me in the shop I could get all the phones I wanted but they were obviously all faulty so suggested I get the software updated for the latest version, this worked for a few months and now it has started doing it again! I only really use my phone for text and when u cant use predictive text that becomes really difficult! I cant stand this phone anymore and wish I'd stuck with my trusty old nok!! It IS a beautiful phone, and when it works it is very nice to use. But this fault with the text is unacceptable! And very annoying! Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!!

This phone is drastically overrated. It is a mediocre phone with a stellar list of features that do not function as you wish they would. The worst part about this phone is the speed. It is one of the most sluggish phones on the market. The bluetooth configuration is the most awful crap I have ever seen. My Ericcson T39 which is over six years old has a more organized and practical bluetooth configuration. The camera is not any better than my current Motorola V8. The phone starts to get flimsy and the fit starts to get compromised after only a couple of months. The screen scratches and cracks easily. Why no scratch resistant screen? Using anything from the memory card requires extreme patience.

The phone is too classy, the design is wonderfull, but the phone multytask capabilities sucks, especially mp3, camera with bluetooth functions. Manuvouring the alphanumeric keys is a disaster, due to poor spacing.

Got the phone yesterday through Phones4U. Phone looks amazing and has been working perfectly so far. Got a 1GB card for free so have been uploading loads of photos and mp3s onto it (when you connect your phone with the USB, it prompts you to select which kind of connection, select mass storage, otherwise everything will go directly to the phone's internal memory). What I don't like about the U600 though, is that you can't select ringtones and wallpaper images directly from settings. There also seems to be only 1 available message alert tone. Don't like it! But then that's just minor. Still way better than my old phone! :)

to all the people who would like to install games on their phone go to umnet.com and look for games that are 240x320 or look for samsung u600 games and download the jar. file and then download the JADmaker and use that freeware to turn the jar. file into a jad. file. now you have a jar. and jad. copy of the same thing. put both files into your phone in the OTHER FILES folders. then close all the menus and enter *#9998*4678255# onto your keypad. that unlocks the code that lets you download java games. go back to the OTHER FILES folder and press options (left key) on the jad. file. it will ask if you want to install, press yes. you are free to play your game which is automactically placed into your games folder and you can delete the jar. and jad. file on your other files folder. i got sims 2 and sims 2 pets and stuff on my phone using everything i explained. i hope i helped someone :) the u600 is great btw, better then the last phone i had (lg slide)

This phone is just way too unrealiable when you're trying to text. I've had my fixed 3 time now. I got it from Vodafone direct (the worlds largest network provider). Still it keeps locking up in predictive text. Also the battery has to be one of the weakest ever fitted to a mobile phone. Sure it looks cool, but after the novelty of having phone that looks good wears off & you find out what a pile of pants it is everytime you try to text someone....I can't wait to get rid of mine, I'm going back to Nokia. Next time Samsung, try putting some of that styling effort into making a phone that is actually reliable & not as bad as the U600 is.

Note: I have posted all best about this phone in my previous comments. But by comparing many phone in the market i would say this phone has many features but none of the feature work at the best. If u r k with this u can buy samsung U600. Even higher end samsung mobile didnt support multitasking.

This phone looks like a dream, especially in the black version I've seen, my only concern is whether or not the touch screen buttons are as naff as the ones on the SE K850i apparently are. Even if they don't work exceptionally, the depth of the phone should make up for it, not to mention the delicious Video conversion ability Samsung's "PC Studio 3.0" has, which saves me the trouble of messing around with MEncoder. Looking forward to buying this for sure.

The Phone is soooo cool but i hate that i have to copy the contact pic to the phone memory to use as a contact pic when the phone rings.. and it's soft somehow, i have to treat it with care , but yet i didnt regret having it....

you have to put in the activation code to enable java in the U600. the code is *#9998*4678255# If you turn your phone off, you have to re-enter the code. Have fun, you will still need the .jad along with the .jar file.

This phone looks amazing to me =) I am pretty dead set on getting one. I have a Samsung now (Samsung d807) & it's alright. It's just super old. It was my friends and before her it was her sisters. It's durable so I'm hoping the u600 will be the same. The red one and the blue one are soooooo beautiful, but I found a purple one today =) I don't want black because everyone's phone is black these days. If anyone has had one for a really long time with some advice, please let me know, so maybe I won't waste my money.

I don't know if i am going to get this phone. I really want to in a way but the guy in the shop said Samsung are unreliable and they freeze and they are the brand that is mostly returned to the shop. He reccomened sony ericsson to me. I have a nokia 5300 at the moment maybe i'll stick with that for now.

i ordered mine in platinum silver and i seriously cant wait till it comes i hade the SE k800i and it was ok not the best camera quality was not what i thought it was but samsungs in my opinion are the best and i was looking at my friend's u600 and it really made me want to get it.

Does anyone know of websites where you can download games for this phone or what type of files you should look for? I tried but it does not recognise the '.jar' files & i even tried '.jad' but i am unable to use it.

This phone is perfect! I bought a U600 in mirror black finish yesterday, beautiful phone. I thought the Motorola Razr was the sexiest phone I've had- I was wrong. I am way beyond impressed here. So easy to use. It's such a high spec phone for a very decent price. The only thing it doesn't have is infra-red, which doesn't bother me one bit. My last phone had it and I used it zero times, and I had that phone over a year. It's all Bluetooth these days. There's no point in infra-red in phones. People are morning about texting problems and a few of the buttons being too sensetive. You can turn the sensitivity down (like I have because I'm not used to it lol) and the T9 English is perfect, I promise. For a �100 phone, this is flawless. Pop into you nearest o2 shop. I got about �13 off for being an o2 customer. It was either discount or �24 credit, but that takes up to two weeks to go on your phone, so I chose the other option. After reading a lot of opinions and reviews, i'm getting kind of scared about buying the Samsung since people are complaining about it freezing up. This phone is absolute pants!!!!! At first it looks good and works fantastically, but now ... it's as dead as a doe-doe! It freeze's while you're trying to text, turns itself on and off when it feels like it, ends calls in the middle of a conversation. To top it off eventually it'll turn itself off and won't come back on again, I have only had this phone around 6 months and it was the worst money i ever spent, I've had it repaired twice already and frankly is not worth spending more money on having it repaired again. Chose another mobile phone not the U600, it's the worst thing you'll ever spend your money on ... guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i discoverd that this phone has touch just press on volume's key when slide on it is very useful specially at dark areas do any one know if there anyway to download games or softwares antivirses to this phone

I've had this phone since last May 2007. Frankly, I'm contented. However, I have a problem that it doesn't have the xenon flash on it, which is kinda annoying when taking pictures in dark places. As for the freezing, it doesn't happen to me. For all U600: How do you set your camera to automatic save? I did that once, but I don't know how it happened. lol.

OMG i'm totally going to bin this phone! ARGH Where do i start... The screen flips upside down & back to front, it loses the picture completely, it reverses colour. Predicta text freezes causing the phone to switch off & back on again by its self. The phone is heat sensitive, when texting it will delete all the text you've just spent ages typing in! REALLY FRUSTRATING. I've had to get my handset repaired 4 times in the last 12 months. I'm now chucking away my handset & buying a NOKIA 6300 as i cant upgrade for another 6 months in my contract. Until then i'd rather go with out this Samsung U600. Its pants. DONT BUY ONE.

got this phone and also have the n73 i compare the two camera samsung have good camera at night better than nokia....sound wise n73 have better sound cause of 3 speakers...samsung though is very light and sexy looking that the n73 love both phones and works great for me...get this phone...email me if u have questions

@ nella23 Dont worry. Go for it, its a cool phone. Try to avoid the negative opinions. Most of them actually didnt use the phone. Buy it from a authorized dealer. Wish you good luck. You should also consider w910i

@patatoe u r doin nothin wrong.....that is how it is.when u read mp3 from the memory card u cannot use the next button, u have to manually select the next track,however u can use the function for music stored in the phone memory or better yet play ur music from the music player menu,it will have the next,previous etc functions

Hey guys I had a question. While listening to mp3s stored on the phone I was able to access the next track by simply holding down one of the left or right keys. Since I have put a memory card into the phone, I have lost this function. And the only way to play another song is to take the phone out and select it. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I got the U600 last week and it looked great... but the battery lost power too quickly and after 2 days it suddenly kept freezing & deleting the media files. Rang Orange & they said it's a known fault with the phone. Shame because its a great handset but totally annoying when it freezes.
