  • Hi! How were you able to use ur softbank 904SH? I really can't find any technician here in san pedro laguna... Please reply asap

  • Hello, I'm from the Philippines too. I used to have 902SH and 904. Yes, 904 is possible to use in the Philippines(open line), I've been using mine for about 4years now. And in your 903's case, try going to mobile fixers

  • hi!.. I am having a prob with my 903sh, 904sh and 910sh phones.. I got 904sh and 910sh last 2007 and havent used them yet coz these phones couldnt be open lined here in the phil. As per technicians i've asked. Regarding my 903sh- I first had it on 2005 and used it perfectly here in the phil for years, it was just last year when i tried turning it on, a "please wait" message appeared, and then, "initializing".. Unfortunately it initializes forever, until now whenever im trying my luck to turn it on again. I really love sharp phones, but because i couldnt use them, i've decided to have nokia5800 last yr..

  • i have a sharp 905sh,why there's no specification posted on your site about 905sh,how can i unlock it so i can use it here in the phils.

  • you will need an xsim not a usim, this will not guarantee that you can use internet on your phone, your network provider will be sending you the OTAC settings if available.

  • go to cellphone repairing stations,, they will install and put something called USIM to the sim you will use,, xD and after that , you would be able to use you phone,,

  • i have 904- and i am in philippines i can alrady use it for text and calls,, but i can't its WAP, and one more thing,, can i make it wifi ready?,,

  • Unlike someone below who has no knowledge whatsoever, I was just trying to give people the correct information. Whereas, the action must be taken in order to fulfill the requirements is not my problem or responsibility!!! My task is just to tell people what to do in order to make it work!!! The truth is if you are planning to use a 2GB miniSD on your beloved 904sh, stay away from the Vodafone version and be sure to get the Softbank 904sh!!! My advice is get your facts straight before telling anyone anything!!!

  • do u think we would go to Japan just to update the phone? i dun think so

  • No, not true! I am using a Kingston 2GB MiniSD in my Softbank version 904sh, and it works like a charm! If you have the old Voda version, the only way you can use a 2GB MiniSD is to upgrade the software online......meaning in Japan only!

  • I bougt it 2 years ago and couldn't unlock it,then I took hipesim and it is working, but there is a little but,it is working only one day, aftet I have to change my sim card and put another one,and i am doing this every day,who knows what to do,thank you

  • have these ever been available in the UK, Id love one, Ive had the 902 and the 903..........sharp phones are the best, ever since the faithful gx10

  • Using 904sh on rogers in vancouver. Just like I remembered using it in Japan a year ago. Too bad no network functions.

  • can you use a nextel sims card for this phone

  • re: jackie 904sh with japanese fw doesnt have t9

  • help help~ does this phone has input method T9? hopefully it does! Thanks!

  • 904sh can only use mmf and aac/mp4 ringtones the latest hyper card cost about $6XXHKD

  • hey.. does anyone know if youre able to use mp3's as a ringtone on this phone with hypersim??

  • do you know how much is the hyper card itself?

  • Selling in HK for HKD$2350 with hyper card

  • finally this phone can be used here in canada.. all over the world.. it is unlocked.. just use the hypersim card.. and it will work.. .. great news

  • 904sh in canada on Fido. dream come true.

  • go to yahoo auction HK and search for the phone

  • get it from ebay, cca 380eur,this is real photo king even 5mega mobs can't compete

  • nice color

  • this phone can be used worldwide now!!

  • OMG 80%!? Its better than nothing! I'm sooo still waiting!

  • sharp is real king of mobiles, best quality, best camera, best battery...,but most models u can get only in asia, always a step in future, when nokia had 1,3m camera sharp was 3 mega, see now sharps with 26mil colors screen and so on...we just arn't lucky in europe, nothing better then japanese mobiles forex.casio exslim53...

  • obviously not u i suppose

  • Why sharp make phones. Who buy their products.

  • wow.....its "available"??! does it mean its in the market right now???? unlocked?!

  • so any news ? its been a while..

  • Software solution will come out pretty soon and as soon as this phone gets unlocked (japanese firmware), prices will go up dramatically like the 903. China already have it (BETA). Good luck! ^)0(^

  • hey what's diz phone it looks like da phoenof 1970 of ancaint police talkywalky

  • Below is the video that proves 904sh can make/send and receive calls + txt:

  • Dear all SHARP fanatics & lovers: I have pleasure in advising you all that the 904sh is finally able to make and receive calls, it can also send and receive txt (note that it is only 80% complete and receiving call isn't stable). Below is the video to prove: However, please note that the 904sh is still very locked!!!

  • @Z yes, that's the one sorry :) @unknown Oh god you were right, happy?

  • @Harlekkin do u mean i-mobile 902? cause i am using that one with 5mp of sony CCD.

  • @dundun You are right. It is still locked and will stay locked. Though DB2020 has been cracked there is no one to work on SHARP unfortunatelly. Harlekkin

  • @Aparadektos Uhmm... and your point? Do you think I only watch pix on my phone, or don't you think I would download them on to my PC to post on my website... They are still the best quality pictures a mobile can produce to this day. 5 glass lenses and a CCD image sensor are top-notch and nothing short of spectacular for a mobile phone. Harlekkin

  • From my understanding, 904 is still locked and no solution, isn't it?

  • The display is better, not the picture quality, you fools, the pic you can see on your mobile's screen depends only on your mobile's resolution, the real quality of the fotos can be seen at your desktop's screen!

  • @ Keita totally agree with you. I long sold my 903SH but the 904SH uses the same module and the picture quality is SUPERB. The k800i and N73, plus the N95 can only dream of sharp and well saturated images like that! The only better 5mpx phone I have seen is the non-3G i-Phone 902, with a Sony 5 Megapixel CCD. Harlekkin

  • its better than the 5 megapixel phones nokia and SE combined

  • hey could anyone tell me how is its picture quality,is it better than the other phones??? thx.....

  • Too ugly

  • Actually, I just read up and Vodafone has NO shares in Softbank, HOWEVER... they do own a 50-50 VENTURE in producing mobile phones. So Softbank and Vodafone will develop handsets and technology together and we should see more high-end mobiles hopefully soon. Europe needs to catch up with Japan though and I have a feeling that Vodafone will be the first carrier to introduce new systems in Europe. Read more here: www.networkworld.com/news/2006/051806-vodafone-softbank.html?fsrc=rss-carriers

  • From my knowledge Vodafone is still involved (part shareholder?) in the business, however Softbank is the official brand. A bit like Verizon in the states (Vodafone holds 48% of their shares). SHARP is releasing the 816SH (880SH for Europe) in a month or so and hopefully a VGA model before not too long. There will also be a low-end GX33. More high-end models may be expected once the western market moves on to IC services like FeliCa (Mobile Suica). Cheers, Harlekkin

  • I don't think there would be any more sharp released to the market, because it used to be vodafone in japan that encouraged the exporting. But now that the vodafone japan was bought by softbank in japan i doubt there would be any latest models being mass produced to export to other country other than japan

  • 904SH locked selling price in HK is $900

  • SHARP does have its own market in Japan, and is quite sucessful at that. However, it is planned to release new models for Europe this year. One being the slider 816SH and probably a VGA model like the 815SH. SHARP is not trying to compete in our markets, but it certainly has had the better technology all along. FeliCa and GPS are old news for the Japanese... Harlekkin

  • can Sharp beat nokia, motorola, sony ericsson etc

  • I doubt that new sharp phones from vodafones are going to be released outside of japan, and if they were it would seriously be very expensive

  • New European Models for this year ARE planned however, with Vodafone being the first to introduce Europes first flip-phone VGA screen model. This could be the 813SH or similar model, including a slider phone which was just released in Japan. Checkout Softbank.jp for all the new models. Harlekkin

  • its only a matter of time b4 the 904sh hits the european markets, just like the 903sh, it will take some time. They have 904sh beta firmware versions in china, but the firmware is very unstable. It will only be a matter of time...

  • hy to everybody..does this phone..coming to SPAIN???im waiting this phone for 1 year..but stiil not coming.i have the 903.and for me SHARP..is the best!! by by..

  • 910SH is out in Japan ONLY.

  • also if anyone know the 910 will be release to public, i heard that the camera is worst than that of the 903, but the design is really nice.

  • gonna stay locked forever :P

  • japanese phones now have 3 inches screen! and with sony ericsson in japan, its using the bravia technology found on their TV and sharp is using its Aquos technology! OMG is it that hard? If only most people would be like the japanese when it comes to being happy with bulky phones that can do everything than having a very slim phone that easily drains out of battery!

  • it is old, yet, no phone has managed to overrun it. ==>kick ass phone

  • this phone is old~ out for almost 1 year.... should have a look on the Sharp 905~ a wide screen.... much better... ashame that no one actually cracked the phone for outside of japan use as yet... not like the toshiba 904T that i used to have... the software is far more sophsticated than any other brands, the jap softwares rarely has any problem with bugs...

  • dude is crazy the phone is not available yet in the uk. I have had the gx10 and gx30 and both were very reliable and dude has had the gx10,gx30 and 903 and she is very happy with them to think i have to put up with her wrong infomation every day as i live with her. dude wanted to know when it is available in the uk as my w800i has just broken and i am desperate for a new phone.

  • The best quality phone you'll ever find on the market. Totally reliable. Are availiable in the UK yet? Apr07

  • japanese phones are waaaay advance than the phones we currently have in the market! Why don't they invest outside of japan,am sure they're gonna be the best!

  • beautiful beast! Too bad it is not unlockable now!

  • i know the exact price bcoz im in hk...but ask "Harlekkin" as he is a the perfect professional of Sharp mobiles as he is not using any of these mobiles....`

  • 480x640 screen refers to resolution of the screen. sharp 903 and many others are 240x320. the only difference is pixel count and how far they are spread out from eachother and how big/small the pixels actually are. 640x480, however, produces a better picture.

  • So frierich+milky does that mean its not gona be available in the uk for ages? im gutted was due 4 a upgrade, it looks brill sharp i luv you.

  • @ Friedrich & Milky ===================== You guys look at all this way too shallow. Vodafone Group and Vodafone KK are under two separate managements of course. The reason why the 904SH is not available in Europe is due to its specs. There are no VGA models available, so to speak there would be no VGA content (most commonly QVGA). Europe does not have any systems in place to handle IC transactions via Felica. This models is way too advanced at this stage and was not suitable for release. Period. And only because Vodafone is part shareholder of Verizon does not mean it IS Verizon. Harlekkin

  • the plaza usually dun accept trade in....u have to sell it outside the plaza first...

  • dun get the tx80...its gay and ugly.....not comparable with 903sh

  • Im a big fan of sharp fones, ive had gx 10 20 30 903 which is brill so easy to use especialy for a bloke, please tell me why vodafone dont know when there going to get em ? im dying to know

  • to the guy below me regarding the Sincere plaza in HK....which store is trustable because i am also considering to buy the water product of TX80 from toshiba...my mom will go back to hk this summer and she can buy it for me.....also do they also do trade-in? cux i have the w810i and dont want it anymore

  • GOOD POINT-Miky! I absolutely agree with you. Sharp 904 (WCDMA/GSM roaming) phone is very similar to Verizon's old Samsung SCH-a795 ( CDMA phone with GSM roaming capable but without a sim card). VODAFONE: Get out of the market-you piece of scam!!

  • Regarding buying mobile at 'Sincere' in HK, this is the place famous for selling mobile directly imported. I have purchased several mobile phones a year from this place and trustable. However, buying this mobile still facing unlockable as so far no one could unlock the IC inside.

  • Ou of all Vodafones (=Verizon Wireless) B.S. games, Sharp 904 crosses all the limits: The phone that is GSM capable is impossible to use with GSM carrier (not unlockable!) WOW!- Vodafone will not stop at anything! LOGICAL QUESTION FOLLOWS: What is the GSM in this phone for? Only for Rich Japanese dudes who travel to europe and the Sharp 904 simply will roam through GSM carriers so the huge $$$$$ will fall into Vodafone's pockets!) CONCLUSION: Vodafone=Verizon Wireless (they own the Verizon wirelss part, if anyone didn't know) thus no wonder that Both companies always disable the phone's features (to rip off people with roaming, downloading and other crap!!) UNTIL SHARP PHONE BELONG ONLY TO VODAFONE, they are dead for me! Not available, no use for them!

  • Sure you don't mean the 705SH / SX633? That one is available via Smartone, but the 904SH maybe available there...just not unlocked. Harlekkin

  • this fone is available in Hong KOng for quite awhile now. one place for sure i know where to get the phone is in Mong kok...at a plaza called "Sincere" but people say their phones are not trustable.

  • i told u,Harlekkin ,. this phone will be locked forever, u didnt believe me.....haha.... i was right all the time

  • Ok, so GSM says this phone is coming soon and not available because it's locked. So who is it locked to?? I have been waiting for more news on this phone since Feb 2006! The Sharp 903 was awesome and I'm dieing to see this one. Anyone have any news or links?

  • GSMARENA says "Available" to phones that are globally available. The 904SH is a Vodafone/Softbank Japan exclusive only and has never been released outside of Japan. So technically speaking it IS AVAILABLE, but never outside of Japan. There is a 10% chance of an unlock, but I wouldn't hope for it. Harlekkin

  • this phone IS available in the market right now but its just locked.... GSM arena only says available to unlocked phones....

  • if you look at the status of the phone you will see it is "coming soon"

  • CHARLO: Where can I buy this phone from? You said that it has been available for a long time but I can't find no dealer who sells this phone.

  • the phone has been available for a long time since 2006.

  • This phone is so pretty! I really like the colour and the fact it has karaoke has made my day, I can now practice for X factor with it!

  • HAHA!!! a photo taken by my 910sh!

  • Ey Finally an openlined 904SH in Greece, wait till I post screen pics of the open unit, MMS is still not working but it can call and send SMS........

  • OK, good for you.

  • HA...it doesnt worth much in my currency....WAKAKAA...

  • And what are you going to do with it??? The camera isn't as good as compared to the 903/904SH... or not from what I can see in the sample pictures. So it's going to be a music player and camera, but is it worth that much money to you? Harlekkin

  •

  • artefacts as in artifact??? u arent a native speaker either 910sh is sold in the japan yahoo auction smartgeek, people can buy it and import to elsewhere, HA! im getting one soon....u dun.....haha

  • Noisy pictures =============== For the non-native english speakers: Noise in images refers to the grainy artefacts seen in images. High noise levels are typical in low lighting conditions. 910SH ===== No, the 910SH is not available outside of Japan unfortunately. Its a SOFTBANK exclusive and WCDMA only. Harlekkin

  • no roaming for 910sh, only for japan

  • Hi, I'm actually interested in the sharp 910SH, I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about it? I heard it's only usable in Japan is that true?Is there a possibility that it might be used in other countries as well??If so when would that be? I know it came out in around October of this year, but that was only in Japan. If anyone of you can help me please email me. Thanks

  • pictures dun make noise

  • To my disappointment I found that the new 910SH's 5MPX camera is pretty shocking. The pictures are extremely noisy, and I blame the zoom-lense for that. 3x Optical Zoom comes at a price I guess. Unless they had the crappiest settings selected, I wasn't that impressed at all. Harlekkin

  • i forgot to mention this phone has one of the greatest screen's ever seen on a phone (480 x 640 pixels)..that's simply..amazing !!!

  • this phone is great ..and i know from the past.that sharp have the greatest phone camera..what's the price on this phone..and how good is the flash?..simply LED flash...or Xenon..or something better than nokia has

  • @ Gouki What are you talking about? Everyone knows and agrees that this phone is AWESOME!!! One of the best phones on the market. It's is just simply worthless as a PHONE... outside of Japan. You know the story... Harlekkin

  • who would buy a locked phone???? and who would buy a phone which will be locked forever???

  • I wish people just shut up if they don't have anything good to say simply becase they don't have one....

  • it will stay locked forever.....:P

  • @ TOM ======= I do admit that the N73's camera isn't quite as good as the 903/904SH, but the flash is much brighter. The Symbian OS is powerful though a bit buggy every now and then. Symbian OS does give you plenty of functionality that SHARP simply cannot offer. But then again the 904SH isn't a smartphone... The music player on the N73 is much better than the 903SH's and probably on par with the 904SH. Software updates are available for both the N73 and 904SH and the ringtone volume level on the N73 is extremely loud. I would rather own a SHARP. But SHARP has decided to withdraw their high-end models from Europe as their is not enough Interest :( So I'm stuck with SE and NOKIA... Harlekkin

  • @Gouki ======= Why would I buy a phone that I cannot use? I know of plenty of people who bought one and sold it again. And the point is: This phone cannot be used by anyone who is not a Japanese Citizen or Japanese Resident with a valid SOFTBANK Contract and enabled International Roaming. Which excludes 99.9% of all GSM users... This phone is brilliant, I used to own a SHARP 903SH. But it IS a PAPER WEIGHT for me as I will never be able to use it outside of Japan. And I don't buy phones just so I can own it. I need to use them... Doesn't that make sense? Harlekkin

  • to u harlekkin maybe u have not yet try sharp phone, but 1 thing i wanna tell u that your N73 is suck.it is really suck when it's compare with sharp phone.trust me see u

  • guys it time to move on and think about other phone. this old is kind old.

  • So, then it works and could be used outside Japan. You are discribing it as if it works only with Japanise network. Why are you so negative about the 904SH. can't you afford one? So you could make a review of its features for real not hearsay stories you have been doing in this site for the past 2 months.

  • @ Gouki ======== And how do you imagine I should get a contract with SOFTBANK/VODAFONE KK???? SOFTBANK contracts are only available to Japanese Citizens or temporary residents as you need an immigration card to get them. And who would be so dumb and pay these ridiculous roaming charges?! The phone is only available to Japanese residents and can only be used by THEM...even though INT roaming is AVAILABLE (yes, japanese people do travel). Harlekkin

  • With your Usim on roaming you can use it at any part of the world with GSM. its not true that you can only use it in Japan. some people talk like they have a 904SH.

  • hey Harlekkin dun u own a 904sh?! is it possible to use USIM to turn on the phone?

  • @Mike and others ================= This phone is a VodafoneKK/SOFTBANK only model and can only be purchased via SOFTBANK JAPAN. Gray Imports are available on eBay, but the phone cannot be used outside of Japan. This model can only play DRM protected music. That's Japan for you... Harlekkin

  • this phone doesnt support mp3? but the 903sh did =..=" that makes alot of sense lol

  • Harlekkin i thought u owned a 904sh!?

  • To the copycat ============== I don't want to buy a 904SH... I'm happy with my N73! Harlekkin

  • I've talked in a place here in Athens GREECE and they told me that the unlock is on it's way. And yes the new phones like the 910 have no GSM but as many other phones in Japan. And don't forget that GSM is going to be away soon also in Europe since the 4G phones are coming.

  • he gadget guru are u sure that it is gonna be soon? cuz i got my 904sh more than half a year now

  • Design 10/10 Just hoping that the features and performance may all be the same like N95...cos in look and design it has overtaken N95 but features and performance N95 rules...

  • no it wont...if it will, it should had come out long time ago =.=

  • 904 cant play mp4?

  • there are only 5 themes that are free for use

  • What current sprint phone has got a VGA screen with a 3.2Mpx camera?

  • we think its a ok phone , sharp should stick to making every things els than phones, sprint phones are the best, in camery, looks, memory, you name it, "boom".. (all)trinidad west indies..

  • RE: keita i download the themes from www.custamo.com den transfer to my sc card but the fone said i need to d/l a key in order to apple the themes. what should i do next?

  • www.custamo.com is a site dedeicated for sharp904 themes! but its pure japanese unless you can japanese like me then it wouldn't be a troulbe for you

  • hi whats the max miniSD capacity for 904SH is it 1GB?

  • hmmm.. where can i get free themes and java games for 904??

  • itunes?

  • Help: i jus got my 904, i cant play mp3.. any good converter for mp3 to mp4?

  • now on sale 810SH, 811SH in JPN

  • Hi All New VGA model 810SH 811SH

  • Hi Harlekkin, Thanks for enlightening me regarding the roaming features of the 904SH. Anyway, even if it stays locked forever i now enjoying its superior camera functions (better photos than my 903SH), great video and music player and the unmatched clarity of its VGA lcd display.

  • @ Ferdie ========= Your phone could only log on to those other networks because your Vodafone Japan USIM was roaming on those networks. That is normal and doesn't indicate whether or not the phone can be unlocked. At this stage there are not many developers left that are working on an unlock unfortunately and the hopes are slowly fading. Even most Nokia BB5 unlockers I know are giving up because it is becoming less worth-while for them. At the end of the day the western market will need to show more interest in this awesome technology, only then we will be abl e to enjoy SHARP and TOSHIBA phones without limits. Lack of interest, that's evertything that is holding back SOFTBANK/Vodafone KK from releasing those phones to the EU. Cheers, Harlekkin

  • 910sh is the best of the best....its perfect!!!

  • obviously the 904sh is way better except that its not unlock yet. so that means 903 wins... as for now. but once unlock come out for 904sh, it will own 903sh BIG TIME!

  • which one is better? (functions) 903 or 904? by the way, which one is the lastest?

  • Hi tim I bought a locked Sharp 904sh at Greenhills with a used vodaphone sim. When I selected network at the settings options menu I was surprise it could sense Smart and Globe networks. When I chose either one of them the network names appeared on the main LCD display. But when i insert my Globe sim, it could not sense my sim. How could this be? I fully know the cp is locked but If it couldsense Globe and Smart then there's a glimmer of hope i the horizon. Hope somebody figure it out on how to make this networks function. Thanks Ferdie

  • i love SHARP fone, they make the best camera fone in the world

  • too bad 910sh is just like 905sh... no GSM.

  • yea........a whole lot better than 904sh and N95

  • everyone the 910SH is coming out this Christmas!! 5MP camera, VGA screen, 3x optical zoom...beats the N95 haha

  • is anyone can tell me what is the differences between AAC vs M4A & AAC vs MP4? any reference article? Thx.

  • it wont be

  • Ey Fredie, My unit is still locked Im using a Vodafone sim on roaming to make it work here in Manila. The DVD Quality Video cam is what i like the the most, it always gave me sharp and brite video, plus the sound recording is great even on noisy places the sound quality is still very audible, I compile and edit it for DVD viewing. This DVD video cam is so small, forget the phone. Just use it for an Ipod a movie player, An autofocus 3.2 Mega Digital Camera with 2x optical zoom and of course a fine DVD video cam when you need it. unlocking it would be a big plus. and did i mention the 640 X 480 true color screen......I wish this phone never gets to be unlocked ha ha ha

  • 904sh is best 903sh is perfect...in both design and features... beat that

  • Ive got 903SH as well, but still 904SH is the BEST BEST and only the BEST hehehe.. THANKS SHARP!!!!!!

  • Sharp 904SH is the best camera phone now, the screen is definitely number ONE,,,,, the best in the world...VERY VERY GOOD SHARP 904SH...

  • I've got two 904SH units, black and violet. This phone is really awesome, so mucccch better compare with other 3M pixel phones from other manufacturers.. Video is really superb and still shots the best in the world.. Keep up the good work SHARP...

  • hope it stays locked

  • wow... i can't wait for the unlock phone come out, sharp make the best camera phone in the world

  • i see you understand the point of a joke. har har har.........................if you have a sd card reader its easy as pie to transfer pictures.

  • Hi!!before I buy this phone I have to know about how to trasfer photos to a computer, because I heard that it isn't easy!!

  • Hi unknown 904SH Cutting wires guy The 904's motherboard does not have any "wires" as such... it only has wires in the top half of the phone connecting the earpiece and the LCD. The mother board is made up of compresed cardboard that uses copper strips and solder to make connections. I have heard about removing a chip and blowing it up with a car battery and then putting it back on the PCB Board thus removing the network code but aparantly that dosnt last long hahaha Only time will tell.. but be assured that its comming.. remember that 902SH tool 2 years as it was new technology. ths 904 is new technology and its been 6 months and look where they are! Beta unlocks already. regards Tim

  • if only manufacturers would be able to come out with a phone that can come near sh904 then we wouldn't be like starting to become paranoids to get our hands to an unlock software and wouldn't debating so pointlessly!

  • Thx Tim Have you been able to convert a video in VGA for this fone?

  • re tim high recommended for japan use only? this phone is not even unlocked yet

  • Hi @ The HK SX833 firmware is YUCK, if u want the most out of your Sharp phones use japanese firmware. this allows the full use of everything. The Euro version does allow MP3 as ringtones as long as they are under a certin size i believe. The 904 can record VGA Video and its GREAT!! 904 is the best phone ever. a highly recomended buy! Tim

  • crap design

  • Want to see more of the 904SH? • The 904SH is just Fantastic!

  • Thx Timmy The problem is that I have the HK firmware of the 903 and I cannot record QVGA video in 3gp and cannot set mp3 as ringtone. So I just want to know if there are restrictions by the network of the country for 904.Has anyone tried to convert a VGA video for this fone? Thx

  • Hi @ The 903SH does have different firmware versions for the network that its sold on, Being that the 904SH is only sold on Vodafone Japan network there is only one firmware version. Thanks Tim

  • Can anyone tell me if like the 903 the 904 has different firmwares according to the country where you buy it or only one firmware for every countries??? Thx

  • Nah, I don't really care whether or not 904 will be for the HK market. I prefer the Japanese system the most out of HK and TW systems.

  • Hope this phone never gets unlocked. cause if it does Nokia's flagship and all the rest will go 2nd. Cause in Japan its 2nd to none.

  • To Harlekkin\ ahh nvm your right... i called the dealer again to make sure... it turned out to be the toshiba 904t, which now im very dissapointed! oh well there goes my first pick...

  • @ RYU I think you are talking about a TM150... The V-Series phones are exclusive to Vodafone, and the 904SH is exclusive to Japan at this stage. Harlekkin

  • the phone has great features but i thin the 903 looks better... regardless its only 45$ here in Us with a 1 year contract with t-mobile .. i guess i have nothing to lose might as well give it a try

  • 904SH for HK Market ==================== I doubt that the 904SH will appear on the HK market at all, though with SOFTBANK taking over there could be a slight chance... After all, the 705SH appeared as the SX866 which is good news... My 903SH v1.046 EU had all the functions I could possibly want including the Alarm, MP3 support, Vodafone Live etc... it's not the most stable version but it definatelly does the job for me! I use the Sennheiser MX450 and the sound is definatelly good, but it's a pitty that the 903SH had no real Equalizer presets... Harlekkin

  • It's nice to really know that awesome functions like mentioned below is present in the 904SH! So I didn't make a mistake in purchasing two of these bad boys after all!!! sugoi na!!!

  • In response to the question posted by a fella below, it seems the best 903 system is the Japanese! Second runner up will be SmarTone's 1.02x, 'cause this is the most stable system ever for 903! In addition, with this system, you can actually modify the phone with #+Power combination keys to sync 903 with MiniSD, allowing to play Java games straight from your MiniSD (you should be able to do this same trick with other systems, not too sure). Also, you can use a trick to actually assign Mp3's as ringtones. Whereas, you can also consider the Taiwanese system which has no Mp3 restrictions whatsoever. Yet, this is least stable system you'll ever have. Hope this helps.

  • Sharp 904 can definitely play m4a and set m4a as ringtones! What I do to make this happen is using iPod's iTunes to convert my mp3's to m4a...bah lah boom...here we have the legal m4a files that can be recognized by my 904! Finally, I plug my Sennheiser MX500 into the handset and enjoy the music with the high quality that can measure up to the iPod's. What's more? I found out that I could actually assign m4a ringtones straight from my 1G MiniSD, without the real hassle of having to copy the ringtones to handset's memory first. Note that the version of my 904 is Japanese Voda. Since I don't have any other version such as T-Mobile German 904, I am not sure if any of the above will work for systems other than the Jp. This is why I will not flash my 904 to any other systems...no, not even the SmarTone system (which isn't smart at all; Ill get to the reason below), if this system will ever be released, that is. There are just too many useful functions that the Japanese system has but the SmarTone lacks. First, the Mass Storage connection option, which allows the users to connect the unit to USB port via an USB data cable so that you can upload/download pics, music, and videos from your MiniSD to PC, vice versa. SmarTone had cut this option for the SX833, and it will most likely cut the same thing on the 904 as well. Well, why did SmarTone do this? Who knows! No offense to the Japanese but perhaps Voda only permits Japanese phone systems to be perfect, in order to keep the Japanese tradition of "ONLY THE BEST IN JAPAN." Consequently, Voda forced SmarTone to remove some features from the system. There's absolutely a lot more SmarTone had removed from their system, including options to DOWNLOAD and CHANGE new Screens or Themes (Dude, this is a truly breathtaking, must-have feature! Again, this was removed by SmarTone, however), Wake-up Alarm, when your unit is turned off, any alarms you had set will not ring (someone claims that wake-up alarm is available for version 1.02x)! Auto Power On (I definitely want my 904 "come to work with me" at 8 on the dot every morning, who doesn't), mp3/m4a's restrictions, assign ringtones from MiniSD, inserting Emotion Icons for Greeting Messages, possible BlueTooth/Infrared restrictions -- of course, all of the above might be wrong assumptions, which I definitely hope so; however, they had all disappeared from the SX833! Fingers crossed, and knock on wood!

  • Hey thanks for the tip Timmy! Definitely the Japanese Firmware it is!!! I can't wait!!!

  • This is one hell of a Phone, with people buying it and waiting for it to be unlocked. There is not a lot of phone out there with this capabilities all in one. If you ask me I think the Sharp 904SH is on a class of its own.

  • I have a feeling that bythetime this updated (only in display) 903 model will be released, Panasonic will launch new series of mobile phone with way more advanced digital camera technics. Sharp better to hurry with this phone because this megapixel race in mobile phones means nothing to me. When the mobile phone will have real optics , lens, and camera features, then it will be worth to review its camera. Untill this moment comes from Sharp or Panasonic there is no need to review camera in a mobile phone.

  • Hey Java Boy I recomend that you get the Japanese 903SH... i recomend this (i flashed mine to jap) because when my black 904SH gets unlocked I wil be familier to the japanese firmware!.. Good plan ehh! The unlock of the 904SH should be out late September early october, People are saying 10th October..... who knows! Thanks Tim

  • Honestly I never buy this fone before, but i think it's just too heavy.

  • @ Kabayan =========== Sorry, you misunderstood the guy below. The 904SH is NOT UNLOCKED yet. He meant features like MP3 etc. which has nothing to do with sim-locking. And I don't believe that the 904SH can play non-DRM MP3's and M4A's either... Again, the 904SH is NOT YET unlocked. Harlekkin

  • Thats Good News unlocked 904SH is already on the market. I wonder when they are going to sell the unlocking keys to other users with exiisting lock phones like mine??? But at least its on its way it should be available in Manila anytimre now. Any Info please email me... Thanks

  • get one and paint it white urself

  • Hey thanks for the reply. By the way, does anyone know when the WHITE 904SH by Softbank will be released in Japan? I really.....really want one... It's frickin' sweeeet!!!!

  • but phone freak do gave us alot of info

  • Hi fellas, It's my first time here at the forum, I have question in your own guesstimation when do you think the 904SH will be unlocked? I purchased 2 from ebay few weeks ago. I bought a Black 904SH first, then I thought the Blue 904SH was more attractive so I bought one as well. I simply cannot wait until the day I'm able to finally use them! I must admit before I came across the 904SH I was just a casual mobile consumer. Now, with two Sharp 904SH's on hand waiting to be unleashed, I may never go back using inferior phones. Except on a occasion where I'm going camping etc where the phone might get soaking wet or dropped, only then I'll use a cellphone (*cough-RAZR*cough) that I care less about. Anyways, while I'm waiting for the 904SH's to get unlocked I'm in the market for a White 903SH my question which Firmware is the best to have for the 903SH? Thanks in advance for the replies!!! genkidenne!!! Java Boy

  • Hi DeathGun If you are wanting a very simple answer....NO There will be an unlock for this phone, They have made some progress with Beta unlocks but as we all know.. there was some MASSIVE faults and it wasnt really good enough as the phone turned off after 20secs in a phone call, no SMS and the phone would randomly restart but it was UNLOCKED!!! All they need to is iron out the bugs and then were all set to go. If you people havnt heard but Zuela has given up his USB-Smart tool after 9 years. There is some rumours that 904SH and K800i (DB2020) has gotten the better of him but who knows... how about we bully him and then he will come back and show us all fools with this awesome unlock!! Thanks Tim

  • This Phone is just way ahead in features, VGA display GPS, High Quality 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera with 2X Optical Zoom not to mention its Auto Focus with manual overide. Wait a 30 frames per Second 640 x 480 video. Is this a DVD video camera or what.... well it almost got everything I guess... The whole world is waiting for it. Good Work Sharp.

  • unlock this phone would be good, 'cause i want to import one to Brazil... Excellent Phone, Excellent Features, and When I was in London i saw the performance... Quick phone, nice design, nice cam, nice sound, nice everything!!!!

  • Last time I checked, forums were a place to exchange opinions and help where possible. I have owned a GX20, GX30, 802SH, and 903SH and can say that I happily will stick with SHARP. Can you see that I like these phones...? The "unknown" probably doesn't even own a SHARP model...so much for the fake. I'm fake...as in what? Nothing I post is fake. Maybe you should choose your words more carefully. YOU are offending ME and maybe others by posting PERSONAL messages. I refrain in most cases from posting anything that could be taken personal as I'm not talking about the person and try to justify my views on where others might be wrong. I know the phones and have mostly used them with the exception of the 904SH. I refer to Timmy for most of the features as we also chat outside of GSMARENA. I have also used many of the Vodafone Carriers and know few Vodafone-Tech's in Australia to be able to talk about Network's. I speak from experience in the GX and V-Series phones and have used and played with all available V-Series outside of Japan. Calling me fake is the dumbest thing you could offer... good on ya mate. Harlekkin

  • Yo Everyone, Harlekkin is only helping people out, this is a FORUM... a site that has people helping other people out on, Harlekkin hasnt done anything wrong in helping other people out.. he dosnt start or spread rumours... so whats all the fuss about? Personally... I appreciate Harlekkin's posts and encourage him to keep them up! Regards Timmy SHARP Freak!

  • I'm getting sick of people complaining about why I post so much on these forums. Everyone that is excited about SHARP phones, or phone technology in general, will be happy to have a discussion about this awesome technology. At the end of the day I don't mean to offend anyone and as far as I know all advice is taken in good manners. Thanks to Timmy & Sketch and the rest of the guys who really do care and even when it gets a bit heated...who cares. We all love our SHARP phones ;) Harlekkin

  • @ Sketch ========== That the 904SH is better than the 903SH is obvious. Clearly. No one would ever argue this matter. The 904SH is a next generation phone, a flag-ship of SHARP. Just like the GX20 and 903SH were for their screens and cameras. Because the 904SH IS such an advanced phone, it is not right to compare it to the 903SH. The 903SH was just as much European as it was Japanese and Chinese. Vodafone KK, Smartone and Vodafone Group all chipped in for the 703/903SH series, during the time period all networks were on roughly the same level. You don't just gamble and simply release a phone to see what happens. But nonetheless Vodafone's expectations were not met, not even close. Vodafone KK (SOFTBANK) and Vodafone Group have now gone separate directions where it won't be as easy to merge such technologies. There's really no point in releasing a FeliCA phone in the EU market, unless it is cut back to its basic features. It's sad that SHARP is withdrawing it's ultra-tech devices from the EU market, but if the markets not strong than its a fair enough reason. And if our networks are not going the same way as the Japanese, we are again distancing ourselves from their technology. We were close... but no one wanted it. Harlekkin

  • @Har Ah.. wrong. 903 was mainly for japan. They just saw an oppurtunity for the euro market. just like the 902. but it was too expensive so no one bought it. Besides, major features aside, the 904sh is a much better phone the 903. The user interface is much friendlier and customizable than the 903 will ever be. I'm not gonna expound on this coz it doesn't matter anyways. And plus, you need to get your info from somewhere else coz timmy isn't exactly the best source for info.

  • SHARP Interview ================ I read this interview with the SHARP developers on mobileburn.com, and the reason why the 904SH wasn't released in Europe was simply demand: Not enough people care. And they are right, Europeans and rest of the Western World simply want their cute and cuddly handsets. And it's Vodafone's fault by making the 903SH and 902SH so damn expensive... The only reason I bought from ebay was the price, otherwise I would have been happy to become a statistic. Oh well... the way it goes I guess. Harlekkin

  • @ Sketch, Your comparison wasn't quite right though. The 903SH was developed as a Japanese AND EUROPEAN version. So it naturally came with T9 and editable WAP settings. It didn't need any mods to the firmware... Was the Japanese firmware crap, YES...but we still had the EU version available. The 903SH JP also didn't have a firmware-upgrade facility on the phone itself (just being picky...) The 904SH is developed as JP only. It doesn't have an EU equivalent and hence wouldn't need to have editable WAP settings or T9. Whether the GPS can be usable... who knows until you try. But the firmware will require mods for the rest to work, and I'm relying on what Timmy's told me about the firmware. But really, the 903SH and 904SH were developed for different markets, so can't just simply bounce your conclusions of the 903SH. Harlekkin

  • And sorry, i forgot to write my name on that last post. And to add, no one's sure when the unlock will come out. So if you don't have a long string of patience and some extra cash lying around, don't buy it. This phone is not for peasants. Kthx.

  • those things have yet to be proven true.. some people from other countries have gotten the GPS system to work in Toshiba 904Ts and i don't see why it won't work on the 904sh since it basically uses the same system. The GPRS solely depends on the unlock developers if they wanna edit the firmware to put the the network settings in. Seriously, i think you guys should do more research before you guys go spouting out some things that you aren't even sure about Seriously, how about we compare the 904sh to the japanese 903sh. that'd be more fair just so we can point out how much of a crap phone the 903sh was when it first came out. Japanese 903sh - can't use GPRS/3G - can't send MMS/e-mail - can't use Firmware Upgrade - can't use T9/predictive text and as you say, the 904sh - can't use GPS - can't use FeliCA - can't use NAVI - can't use GPRS/3G - can't send MMS/e-mail - can't use Firmware Upgrade - can't use T9/predictive text Oh look at that.. the japanese 903sh is just worth as crap as the 904sh.. but look at it now, it can use T9 and gprs because of firmware edits and stuff. I don't see why developers will not wanna do this for the 904sh. And no one's asking you guys to buy the 904 anyways. At the end of the day, no one really cares if you like the 904sh or not. I rest my case.

  • The 904 is the Best Phone eermade as far as features is concerned. Can anyone tell me a production phone with this features. This is how High End Phones should be. Its the Ultimate phone.

  • @ Keita ======== The 904SH is not a 903SH. Apparently you cannot modify the Internet Settings as where with the 903SH you can... so it doesn't matter where you live. All these "arguments" are not about who is right or wrong, it's simply about what this phone can/will do. I believe Timmy that there will be an unlock. But an unlock does not mean you can use all features of this little beauty. Timmy has different needs to what I have, and I would not buy a phone for it's sheer beauty (any longer). At the end of the day I still admire the 904SH and if I'd have the money to just buy a locked version I would. Harlekkin

  • Hi Harlekkin Thanks, I will enjoy my 904SH... Goodbye

  • - can't use GPRS/3G - can't send MMS/e-mail - can't use GPS - can't use FeliCA - can't use NAVI - can't use Firmware Upgrade - can't use T9/predictive text GRRRR! pepapipz hu has been mean to this phone shut up! The usabilty of this depends on your network! like here in the phils. the 903 was very usable since customers can ask for gprs/3g settings and mms.... video calling is superb as long as u have 3g signal since video calling doesn't need any settings! as for this phone i'm sure slight changes would occur! and about the predictive input! Of course if u don't know how to speak/write nippongo its really useless but for us who can its great help! GPS, Felica and Firmware upgrade would really be of no use since no country can match the adancement of technology of japan and no country would be able to afford to use it or even think about it only japan! This is J-Wave! and by the way cellphones came originally from the philippines just like the flourescent and others that western countries had taken! ja ne!

  • @ Timmy ========= Ok Timmy, you do that. At the end of the day it's not that important anyway, but this has nothing to do with risks, it's a simple matter of common sense. With car payments, rent and other expenses most people can't simply throw out US$400. But it's only a phone, no matter how awesome it may be. You enjoy your 904SH. Harlekkin

  • Hi Harlekkin ^^^^^^^^^^^^ I am not going to say any more about 904SH, People dont listen. I would rather save my energy to enjoy my 904 and think of all you people missing out cos you wont take a risk with an awesome sharp product C ya Tim

  • @ Timmy ========= Don't misunderstand my point. I love SHARP and I have a loyalty to it because of the great QUALITY. But this is us... the other 95% of mobile users simply want a phone that WORKS and is functional, functional with the latest that our modern networks can offer. Most people won't care how advanced the phone is when it is not available here, and you will find similar great firmware features in the latest NOKIA and SE models ( I believe). It is kind of silly to put faith into SHARP or "unlockers". I don't want to hack my way through to using a mobile phone. In reality we should be able to use a phone without having to do that. Obviously no one can test the 904SH because there are no shops outside of Japan to offer this model. No one will buy a US $400 "phone " just to play with it's functions when you can't use it as a phone. Putting aside the fact that it may eventually be unlocked. I know you know that it will, but how good this unlock will be is still in question. I am asking on behalf of others that may want to know those special things about this phone, not because I have "no faith" in unlockers. So do us the favor and take 5 minutes to summarize briefly of what you can see in this phone aside from the non-usable features (Felica, NAVI etc). Again, this is not to put down the 904SH or in any way discourage people from buying it. But customers should get a sense of "value" for this model, especially when so many features will not be available outside of Japan. Or what other point should there be to buy this phone? Think of others, not yourself in particular... SHARP fanatics don't count ;) Harlekkin

  • Hi Harlekkin I am not going to list all the better things over the 903 as it seems that people dont listen, If people want to know then please buy one. I noticed that you said earlier on that SMS is a "maby" on the unlocked 904.. where did u read that? That isnt true at all. some guy once said on a forum that 904 didnt have an option to change MSG number.. well it does so that blows that theory. 904SH is WAY WAY better then the 903SH, 903SH is dog meat over the 904SH, I am glad that not many people have brought one, just goes to show the people that have faith in Sharp and unlockers. They WILL come up with an unlock but i am more then happy to wait. Good things are going to happen. If people are wanting to know about the 904 over the 903.. please buy one or go into a shop to see.. seing is believing! Regards Tim a VERY happy 904SH owner

  • SHARP 905SH ============= 905SH is WCDMA ONLY and hence not really GSM. It doesn't support GSM frequencies and cannot be used outside of Japan. It cannot be unlocked as it was never designed to work or ROAM on any other WCDMA network outside Japan. This is to safeguard the phone from foreign DMB signals that may overheat or damage the phone. This information was obtained from the 905SH Vodafone Manual. Harlekkin

  • nice but the design is weird.

  • I have the 904sh and love it. I saw in China the other day a guy taking a picture with his 904sh and the camera made an awesome customized camera noise when it took a shot. Is there any way a 904sh owner can go in and customize the picture taking sounds? His 904sh featured something that was like the "energize" sound from Star Trek. Very cool. My 904sh doesn't have that sound as an option. (Are China versions made with different sound options?) If anyone knows how to customize 904sh camera sounds and what file or files need(s) to be added/replaced, could you please let me know? Thanks! 904sh Daisuki !

  • @ Unknown ========== Yes, even when the phone can be unlocked you will not be able to use network features other than voice call and maybe SMS. This phone is not meant to operate on foreign networks, so don't be surprised about this. It has been exclusively designed for the Japanese Vodafone Network and most functions can only be used there. Harlekkin

  • Hey Duke, sorry, haven't been "over there" a lot lately. For the best pics: 1. Make sure the lense is clean!!! Buy a special tissue/cloth to clean the lense regularly. 2. Set the setting to fine or super fine. 3. Use the full 3.2MPx only during good lighting. I recommend 1.3-2 Mpx for darker environments as the "shutter speed" will be much quicker. You'll notice the difference in bluriness. 4. Use manual focus on close-up objects and auto-focus on objects further away. Auto-focus isn't good in judging objects close by. 5. Make sure you hold still!!! Have a look at these shots I took: www.christianlegere.com/images/903SH.jpg www.christianlegere.com/images/903SH_2.jpg www.christianlegere.com/images/903SH_3.jpg cheers, Harlekkin (former skater42)

  • i thought id give here a try as nobody bothered to answer me on the sharp 903 forum...as u can tell i own a sharp 903 and i was wondering if anyone knew what the camera settings should be in order to take the best possible pictures..the weird thing is that ive come across some pics taken with this phone and they look awesome, but the ones i get look rather crappy..pls advice..thanks

  • i live in USA, so that mean even if unlocked that mean it wont have much of the use?

  • SOFTBANK ========= I'm quite excited to see the new SHARP models, as they are supposed to catch up with FOMA standards. And since Vodafone isn't completely out of the picture we might even see one or two models in Europe!!! So I hope... Harlekkin

  • So are you guys ready for the new 904sh lineup set for october? the older colors will probably be phased out and will be replaced by White, Pink and Navy Blue. They say the replacement will take place the same time Softbank takes over Vodafone JP, which is on October 1st.

  • Hi Timmy, don't get me wrong, you know I LOVE my SHARP. But what advantages will this phone offer anyone even when unlocked? A pretty firmware and nice display - what features will definatelly be usable that will make this phone truly outstanding? - can't use GPRS/3G - can't send MMS/e-mail - can't use GPS - can't use FeliCA - can't use NAVI - can't use Firmware Upgrade - can't use T9/predictive text What can you use other than the MP3 Player and camera? What features would be attractive for someone not living in Japan? I've wasted enough money on the latest "Technologies" and have learnt from my beta 903SH that I just don't want a pretty phone only. I want one that works. I'm in NO WAY insulting this SHARP masterpiece. It IS ADVANCED, if the features weren't locked or so damn network dependant. But shed some light on any features I may not be aware of, PLEASE ;) Harlekkin

  • @ Timmy ======== Hey, what other features can you recommend? Do you have a list of new things over the 903SH? cheers, Harlekkin

  • Hi Tim.G The Japanese firmware will use AAC Media Files. On my 904SH and my 903SH I have converted all the files in i-tunes to AAC for them to work on the japanese firmware phones. As for the unlocking of the DB2020, Most of the K800i's are unlocked as they havnt been brought on a network or have been unlocked via an IMEI Calculation. The reason that Japanese phones cannot be unlocked by IMEI is cos the lock is usually in the firmware and is a Full 4 lock, on the IMEI unlocked ones they dont have all 4 locks. There is news on the cracking of the K800i and the firmware can be flashed and unlocking can occur on a tool but connects to a server and they charge for the firmware. The 904SH unlock is very soon.. i can almost smell it :) To everyone saying that this phone is nothing more then a nicer display over the 903SH, please be aware that this comment is 100% wrong. This phone's firmware is NOTHING like Sharp firmware that has evern been seen in their vodafone phones ever. This firmware is totally unbranded only says vodafone when you turn it on, there is no vodafone red themes like on 902 and 902 what so ever. So many features have been added that make the 903's firmware seem as thick as Nokia 1100. 904SH is a huga advance in technology that people cant understand until they buy one. Tim

  • AAC switch trick doesn't work

  • does the japanese fw support AAC ringtones?

  • @ Tim ====== Hey buddy, ok: - max. size is 300kb (length depending on quality) - there is no English Dictionary available You're better off using MP4/M4A ringtones. If you have SD-Jukebox you can DRM them with that or you can use the IMA trick to use any AAC+ ringtone up to 2.5 MB. cheers, Harlekkin

  • RE: Harlekkin From 903sh: 1) what is the maximum length for the mmf ringtones in 903sh? 2) what is the maximum size of the mmf ringtones? 2) does anyone know if there is an English dictionary for the 903sh? thx

  • @ Unknown ========== There is a difference between upgrading the firmware and unlocking a phone. There is also a difference between an IMEI unlock and a hardware lock. The K800i released by the 3 Network comes with a free UNLOCK CODE. This code will unlock the phone via IMEI (the phone's unique network identification). Your brother probably has obtained a phone by 3 or another cellular provider that offered the free unlock code. According to the report I read it is not yet possible to directly unlock the phone via cable. Timmy mentioned that there are about 4-5 locks that can be activated, the IMEI lock being the easiest to unlock. Japanese phones unfortunatelly do not utilize IMEI unlocking and hence it is more difficult to unlock the SHARP 904SH via cable then to buy an unlocked K800i (both use the same chip DB2020). Harlekkin

  • I just can't stop looking at this very attractive cell. phone! I can't wait till it get released on the market! -Great Size (Fu..C all small inconvinient stupid Sony and some new Nokia phones!!!!!) -Great Camera -FANTASTIC SCREAN!!! (300.000 PIXELS!!! VGA!!!) BYE, BYE, BYE -Sony Ericsson!!!! BYE, BYE, BYE -New Stupidly designed Nokia phones!!!! We are tired of sissy looking phones!!!! Welcome to Sharp phones! Welcome to Panasonic phones!

  • re Harlekkin: "The K800i (same chip) is currently upgradable but NOT YET unlockable" what you mean by that? My bro is using it in the USA

  • Unstable Firmware ================== If it were true the firmware + unlock would be available. At this stage there are no real success stories as the developers are still working on getting into the chip (DB2020). If this phone should be unlocked over the next few months you will definatelly know about it, until then don't believe any reports unless you can see the evidence! Apparently this one is a bit tougher to crack and the reports I have read from Timmy were not all that positive. Definatelly not impossible, but it might take longer than people would hope for. The K800i (same chip) is currently upgradable but NOT YET unlockable. So we'll wait... A thought for everyone: ======================= Yes this phone is AWESOME, but think twice before buying even the cheaper LOCKED version. Even if unlocked, you will only be able to use the most basic functions, do not hope for any 3G/GPRS services or any other network dependant features. If the screen, camera and mp3 player is all you're after, then go for it! Harlekkin

  • it true tht china have an unstable firmware

  • don't believe everything you hear

  • Haha, Tim -.- The question is how..

  • sharp 904sh is I telephone of much quality to see if they put the o09pcin to him of which 3d to mini sd can be unloaded the games and that it is possible to be seen while sd to complete screen is recorded in the video and without icons and that can be renombrar and be ordered and be created folders in the video sd a greeting

  • Hi sunshine Are you worried that your 904 has eaten your USIM hahahaha, The Battery, battery and sim card all come out again. Dont worry. Tim

  • This might be a weird question but, after i put the battery in for the sharp 904, can i take the back case part out again? i can't seem to open it T_T

  • it looks that this phone is built on video Tv out

  • @Timmy - Nearchat Near Chat is easy to navigate even if it's in japanese, me and aznboi128 met up to test it and we made it work w/o any effort. proof.

  • thx, Tim.

  • Hi thierrs You will have to flash this phone with a tool, its not as simple as just changing it, the country code meens nothing about the firmware. The EU Firmware is EU.046 Thanks Tim

  • Hi, i have 1 Jp 903SH. do u know how to change the country code? i wan load the uk version. anyone able help?

  • I feel that gsm arena has always had a strong bias towards "big brand" phones like Nokia, Motorola and SE....I wonder why they never review phones produced by manufacturers like Sharp, Toshiba and Panasonic...they may not have as big of a repertoire, but that doesn't make them less worthy of attention.....and to be honest, i find the reviews here way too lenient...never seen a strong criticism in any of the reviews....hahaha I feel this post is going to be erased soon...anyway just voicing my opinions

  • Hey I've got the toshiba 904T but something occured when i broke up the contract with vodafone. I had just unlocked the SIMlock and I was happy that I could use it in my country but.. it seems that I cannot hear any music.. I was wondering if someone knew the answer.. please mail me [email protected]

  • Wow I just read from the Sharp website that the 904sh can also record videos up to VGA resolution....nicely done again Sharp!

  • This is such a kick-ass phone! But from what I've read around the net they aren't going to release it in europe at all. I'm hoping someone unlocks it. The manga viewer option is cool on the japanese version..

  • Hi Also you cannot update the firmware unless you are in Japan, - Menu - Settings - Software Update We recomend that you stay in a good place with good reception while executing software update, Continue? - Please Wait - Cannot Connect, Please try again later It cannot do it without Vodafone Japan firmware.

  • Hi, Near chat is no good unless you speak Japanese as there is no english support for it, just like the Java games.. 100% japanese 904 ROCKS... i use mine for AAC's and Movies... its great, Such a nice looking phone and a nice screen... VERY nice screen

  • hey are there any thing that can fix the Near Chat cause vodafone made a update for it to fix and near chat seems reli cool so if you guys noe where to get one pls post. O and an update for the other software bug would be nice too

  • A sharp 904 with included usim and cheap:

  • @ Unknown =========== What do you mean by costs? Apart from the actual handset costs this phone won't be any more expensive than any other model. The voice-rates are the same for all... Data (3G, GPRS) won't really apply as I don't believe you will be able to setup 3G/GPRS outside of Japan. This is based on Timmy's observation that WAP/MMS settings can't be edited. Unless the unlock/hack can enable the editing of those settings there isn't much hope. Even if you could change WAP settings, the chances of using the 904SH on 3G/GPRS overseas is very slim, as Networks may not allow the phone to access those services. Harlekkin

  • hey whats the limits to how much the things you bring cost. because i dont wana buy the phone and find out that i cant bring ti over to canada cause its to expensive. O can u also provide the website so i can check

  • whats the program for doing that?

  • Yo Harlekkin Yes my 904 is sooo cool Yes you can watch videos, I have been downloading videos from the internet and then putting them on my 904 and watching them in my spare time. The 904 is SOOO cool. Tim

  • hey could the 904 watch videos?

  • @ Timmy ========= You LOVE your 904SH!!! I can't wait for the unlock, as the design still draws me so much to it.... It's just so sexy. Keep us up-to-date! harlekkin

  • nobody knows...

  • never :D

  • AAC & MP4 ========== AAC - Advanced AUDIO Coding This is an Audio codec that optimizes music better than MP3. It is also referred to as MP4. AAC is best at 128kbps. AACplus is an enhanced version of AAC and comes in two versions: AACplus version 1 and 2. AACplus v2 plays songs at 64kbps at the same quality than MP3 ~160kbps. AACplus is available in most modern phones and is the audio codec used in 3GPP's video standard 3gp. The benefits are smaller file sizes (3:50 mins at 1.6 MB, 64kbps). It's the way of the future! Harlekkin

  • hay whats aac is it like mp4? Is aac a video format?

  • 3G in the USA ============== To my knowledge, Cingular(ATT) and T-Mobile are the only UMTS 3G carriers at this stage. The only downside is the frequency. Both carriers at this stage, to my latest knowledge, can only implement the 1900MHZ spectrum for UMTS. Auctions for the 2100Mhz Spectrum will be auctioned some time this year. - Without the 2100Mhz spectrum in place no SHARP phone utilize 3G as all phones are WCDMA 2100. - SHARP phones can only operate on the GSM 1900 frequency band; possibly low reception; - GPRS is not likely to work unless operators (Cingular, T-Mobile) permit "foreign" phones (phones not registered on their white-list) to operate on their network - SHARP WCDMA phones are NOT compatible with CDMA2000 1x, 1xRTT or EV-DO. They will not work with Sprint-Nextel, Verizon or any other CDMA provider. Check with your service provider if in doubt! Harlekkin

  • Hi, I have been reading the post for the 903 and 904, trying to decide to jump and buy one. I live in Chicago and the 3g works really good for Cingular in the area, now saying this, does anyone have an experience on using a 903 on a USA network. My concern is setting it up to work (ie on the internet) etc... tks

  • @ Unknown =========== Trust me, we're all waiting for the unlock, you're not alone. But it's not going to happen within the next couple of months I think. I've heard rumors over rumors and nothing happens. The 903SH is voice-compatible on any GSM 1900 US network with the right USIM/SIM (not Nextel), but you may find it difficult to get GPRS up and running. 2100Mhz 3G is NOT supported ANYWHERE in the US, and hence no 3G services (video call, streaming etc.) can be used. Hope this helps, Harlekkin

  • Re: previous post I meant to say GSM not GST. Service tax has nothing to do with bands and frequencies... Harlekkin

  • That will greatly depend on WHERE in the USA you live... Don't expect it to come to Idaho anytime soon LOL 3G in terms of CDMA EV-DO is already utilized through Sprint. WCDMA is on it's way BUT: 1900Mhz WCDMA So almost ANY 3G phone on here (except a FEW Nokias) will NOT work on that standard as most are 2100Mhz WCDMA. And this frequency is the world standard for UMTS. But don't worry, to make it even more crazy, AUSTRALIA is releasing a 850Mhz WCDMA frequency for rural Australia in 2008. I think we need a "hexa"-band (6-band) mobile to fit in all variations of WCDMA & GST. HSDPA isn't even in this equation. LOL Harlekkin

  • i wonder when does USA has 3G and watch TV on their phone.

  • 904SH, 903SH & Toshiba 904T ============================ AT THE MOMENT the 904SH will NOT work on ANY network outside of Japan. Not on Rogers, not on T-Mobile...nothing until it is unlocked. The 903SH is more expensive because it is UNLOCKED, and though the 904SH is technically better, the price is lower because it is LOCKED and cannot be used outside Japan. The 904T (Toshiba) is less advanced as it only has a QVGA (320x240px) screen. The 904SH boasts a VGA (640x480px) screen, which is 4x the resolution of regular QVGA's. The 904SH also has 2x OPTICAL zoom, which no other available phones other than the 902SH & 903SH can offer at this stage. SHARP is technically the most advanced company on the market, only being outweighed by others through specific firmware features. Harlekkin

  • o and i forgot to ask earliar how come the 903 is more expoensive then the 904? i mean 904 has alot more functions and its a bit thiner so whys it cheaper? is there something wrong with it?

  • hey i just found another phone thats almost like this one but better. its Toshiba 904 lol their both 904 its 26 mm thick and has about the same futures and the onboard memory is 40 mb and i think it has a great design to

  • @ Timmy Just sent you an e-mail, let me know whether you got it! Harlekkin

  • I agree with Tim :) SHARP, even though they seem "small" in the Western world, have an excellent track record. They are the first to release cutting-edge technology in the GSM/WCDMA world. - First 3.2 Mpx mobile phone with optical zoom - First VGA screen on a GSM/WCDMA mobile - First ever to use CCD cameras (GX20) With high quality standards and SOLID flip-models, SHARP has established itself as one of the most trusted manufacturers in Asia. Vodafone KK (Softbank), DoCoMo/FOMA and Willcom stock many models in Japan, that are used widely by the population. Vodafone firmware has been the only complaint customers have launched, and even the firmware has been improved on each model . If you're after Quality you can't go past SHARP, you need to try one and you won't be able to go to any other manufacturer ever again. Harlekkin

  • HI Unknown I will speak on belalf of Harlekkin... 903SH is by far the best phone, i have seen on eBay in the US that they advertise phones that will work on all networks but Version, Sprint and some other one but it deff aint Cingular. With the Z710 from Samsung you will most proberly have huge battery problems and the LCD will just be the same as all other samsing phones, the interface will proberly be booring as bad S**T (Quote Ian Stables the juge from NZ Idol hahaha) Overall i highly recomend ALL the sharp phones, I work in the mobile phone industry and to be honest.. We hardly ever see SHARP phones in for repair, mostly Sony Ericssons Alcatel and Hyundai Thanks Tim

  • o and i forgot to ask could this phone play mp4?

  • ok so which one would u choose Harlekkin?

  • @ Unknown ========== Technically the best phone is: 904SH. Superb screen, one of the best cameras with optical zoom. The best USABLE phone is the 903SH. Same great camera, optical zoom and great features. SAMSUNG is good I'm sure, but the camera quality MAY be less than that of SHARP. I haven't tried it. I'm sure SAMSUNG has excellent usability though. Harlekkin

  • @ Timmy ========== I'll e-mail you when I get back from work, gotta get ready now :) later, Harlekkin

  • nice phone

  • Yo Harlekkin Can u email me? (this post) Thanks Tim

  • Hi Harlekkin So.. what happens if you put in some weird as number? Will the phone still turn on? What is the Japanese number that aint buggy? Or what is buggy about the jap 21 one? Will the number go from 00000000 to 2100000? or do u go 2121212121??? Thanks Tim

  • Hey Timmy, The 903SH is just awesome! The firmware MUST BE v1.046 to do the PWR-TRICK. Here are a few numbers to type in the menu: 1. UK 2. Spanish 3. other language 4... 5. Germany 6... 9. Vodacom 21. Japanese (buggy) You can't break anything, just play with it. Setting the 0000000 to 0111111 will enable the JAVA-Sync on your phone. You can then sync SOME games you download to your memory card. It will also allow you to enter your phone and browse the menu WITHOUT A USIM CARD. If something does stuff up do the following: 1. Set the language back to UK for UK GPRS Settings, or to 5 for GERMAN GPRS SETTINGS, etc. 2. BACK UP all information to your miniSD. Then turn off your phone and take out your SIM CARD. 3. Press # + PWR and your phone will start re-formating. Try not to interupt the process, it will take about 20 MINUTES. After it has finished it will display the check-sum, press any key to turn off. 4. Take out the battery and remove for about 10 seconds. Now enter your USIM again. Turn back on. 5. It will take a good minute to boot up for the first time. Now you will have the GPRS-settings pre-installed for the country you chose (UK, Germany, etc.), and the phone is completely factory-reset (clean). cheers, Harlekkin

  • HI Harlekkin Just another question... What happens if u put some weird number in, insted of 1 or 2 or 62? for eg 13? Thanks Tim

  • HI Harlekkin can I please have some moew info about that pwr trick? I am getting another 903SH in a few days and I want to try it! is there some big long number and u change it from 1000000 (UK) to 2000000 (JP) or something? I like the JP firmware and T9.. I hate it! I really really really like my 904SH and use it every day for music and alarm clock.. i just dont make calls or txts from it! I have my Nokia phone for that soon to be replaced with another 903 hahah, This time I have gotten the A903 (NZ VER) and I will have to flash it to the 903v (UK) in order for the power trick.. Flashing of the Sharp phones takes quite a while as I will 1st coppy the genuine 903 sharp firmware from it 1st and then flash the UK hybrid stuff.. Please can you also infom me.. i have been told that if the phone starts to stuff up you just pwr #.. will this re-lock the phone? Thanks Tim

  • @Timmy : I LOVE SHARP...but ============================= I found too many negatives than positives after I had read your message. I really don't know whether it is worth buying a phone just for it's screen and maybe Music Player. I LOVE SHARP, but I can't put up with a half-working phone. It's not SHARP's fault, but what I hate about Japanese-only phones: - no T9 for English - no other foreign languages available - hardly any or no compatibility with 3G/GPRS overseas (re-provisioning etc.) - restricted Music/Media player - many features not offered overseas To me it is not important whether FeliCA and NAVI work since it's not supported anywhere on Vodafone Australia anyway. I can live without MP3 since all my Music is AAC+, though the RINGTONES I like, if possible, without the DRM solution! Now: NO T9 or foreign languages just bother me. I can get over customized screens and games really quick. I don't need them really. Customization is secondary to me. But I do need German and English in fully T9 AT LEAST. I do like browsing 3G with a compatible browser, which is not likely to happen with the 904SH. The camera is still the same, and though it has anti-shake it doesn't take any better pictures than the 903SH. I LOVE the video function on the 904SH, but not enough to seriously consider buying it. I'm SO TORN LOL I love the design and the hardware features, I just hate the firmware restricts!!! If SHARP doesn't release anything similar in the Western network real quick I'm starting to loose it! I can't stand the 1.3 MPx they just brought out in the UK, what a waste of investment. Anyway, enough of my whinging :P I hope you understand my frustrations!!! HONG KONG & PWR TRICK ===================== It's 62. But the code won't work unless it is a HK firmware already. I've tried it. Cool other stuff though. 9 is Vodacom 5 is Vodafone UMTS Germany etc. Try it! Harlekkin

  • This is Amazing Phone. I like it.

  • Nice mobile.

  • man usa, still in the stone age helppppppppppp

  • Hi Harlekkin Yea ill be your 904SH lab rat hahaha the 904SH will be hardly usuable on the NZ network also.. There is many features that are network dependant - Comic Browsing - NAVI GPS System - FeliCa - MMS (Cannot edit the settings) - WAP (Also cannot edit the settings) - Vodafone CAST! - Update and Data Re-Prov The Customo Themes are downloadable from the internet and then you put them on your phone from the memory card, The MP3's require them to be AAC's and all those Stupid things about the Japanese firmware. Also on this new firmware you cannot Edit the wap and MMS settings in the phone, under Internet settings you have options for Get WAP and MMS data and Clear Data and White List. Also another fault that i have noticed with this 904 firmware is that the Clock will not adjust unless you have the time on 24hr time. If its on 12hr it just stays at 00:00 and even if I change it it says Accepted but when you go back to standby its just 00:00 still... I cant work it out! I have heard rumours about 904SH unlocking.. - The unlocks there, its just a $$$ problem - Zeula Dosn't know how much to charge - Unlock is done.. just SMS problems - Never unlockable - Not unlockable in the near Future - Unlocks out in Philipeans - Unlocks out in Veitnam All sorts of rumours but.... its deff not out yet.. its comming tho.. im sure The 904SH isnt more expancive then the 903SH.. 904SH is locked so the price should be about $100 less then the 903 until unlocking is out and then I think that it will be about another $250 more then the 903SH. We will just have to sit back and wait Also Harlekkin you know that power 8 trick on the 903SH.. what is the number for the HK firmware? Thanks Tim

  • would any one care to explain to me why the 903sh is more expensive then the 904?

  • @ Timmy ======== Hey, absolutely no doubts that the 904SH is the best thing ever! I'm a 903SH user and my last 4 models were all SHARP. I know what I'm in for! If the full unlock will be available it will be great. But here are my concerns: Because there is no European Version available I am afraid that the 904SH will only be compatible with my Network to a certain extend. It is nice to make calls and SMS, but I want ALL features to be available. I used the 903SH Beta Unlock for 3 Months and was unhappy about it's incompatibility with my network. MMS didn't work, and GPRS/WCDMA browsing was buggy. I used the 802SH with European Firmware, yet I could hardly get anything to work on it. The 904SH is miles better, but from what I have read on Vodafone KK, there are too many Network dependant features that just simply cannot work outside Japan. Custom screens are nice, but if you can't download them via the phone it's useless. Can you get them via the internet? So once the full unlock is available I shall consider it, but maybe I'll let you just trial the 904SH for me ;) cheers, Harlekkin

  • The Gap: Europe - Japan ========================= Today I realised again how far we, and Vodafone Group, are behind the Japanese. The new SHARP models firmware can be updated and upgraded via the NETWORK - no cables. This is possible with few Siemens phones, but I beg to differ these models from the SHARP models. That's pretty thoughtful! Another reason why the 904SH and 905SH would in NO way be compatible with our networks - even if we do unlock the 904SH. For proof: www.vodafone.jp/english/important/060619.html Also, the rumoured unlocks all seem to have HUGE problems. Not being able to send SMS is one of them. I have gotten used to my FULLY working 903SH, and I can't go back to using some half-finished product. It either works or it doesn't, but I can't put up with some incompatible device where I can "only" make calls and maybe not even send SMS. With these devices being so advanced, I want to utilize everything. I won't buy it for the screen alone - that is ridiculous! Harlekkin

  • @ Timmy ========= On eBay Australia there is a 12-in-1 SIM MAX card with reader. Now it does say that it cannot decode Generation 5 SIM's, I don't know if that would be the kind of USIM Vodafone KK & DoCoMo are using? Would it be a possibility? Harlekkin (former Skater42)

  • to skater 42 ,,,i"ll be patient then!! Lets hope hspda gives a good result everywhere & does what 3g should have done.I wonder down the line if wi-max will end up being the winner as it also has potential to really lower browsing costs.I love the whole mobile /gadget devices"as you"ve guessed"& 3yrs ago or thereabouts they said it would be impossible to get video working on small devices & now were streaming tele.Who knows where we will be at in another 3 years,,,I KNOW...i will be going to the shops to buy a 904, ha! ha! only joking "but" they may have blood pressure & diabetes monitors built in & the much needed methanol power supplies.:)

  • @ Kenny ======== The UK is better than Australia, stop being a girl about it LOL :P:P:P (joking) Germany has just released its HSDPA network in all major cities, which is a real advancement. Europe is slowly starting to implement these "Asian" things, but its a cultural barrier to a certain extent. You ask the majority of people on the street whether they would have their Oyster Card, Credit Card and Social Security Card on a phone and most will be skeptical about it. Especially Germans... I think that on our Continent people are programmed to stick to what they've got, a miracle that we're already using cars. But we will see these things at some stage I believe, generally everything takes about 3 years longer :P I'm hearing ya... Skater42

  • to skater 42,,i see these fones on bbc click online & in magazines and japanese fones & the like are big but great..They have buttons all over the place & scanners & they can pay for items with a system called eddy etc,,,,that said here in uk were just launching hd tv!!!..In the end i will have to up sticks & move to these places & at the moment south korea sounds super... Did you know their home brodband speed is 100mb & to put that in perspective weve just been upgraded to 2mb!!!I am jealous in reallity but i suppose things can only get better,,iam 36 now & hope to see as much technology as possible before i croak it thanx for reply skater 42

  • @ Kenny : It's not SHARP, it's us =================================== I think most of us hear your cry, but unfortunatelly SHARP is doing very well with their mobile sales...even without the European market :( They've got a high market share in Japan with DOCOMO/FOMA and Willcom etc. You have to blame the Europeans. Sharp sales in Europe are disasterous. Nobody wants these "chunky" and heavy phones. Most people want a pink, fluffy and super-sexy anorexic mobile that beeps "New message for you...master." And the slimmer the sexier, sounds familiar (damn you Hollywood...). Vodafone stores don't even stock the 903 anymore, it can be ordered on request but it's not there to make money. Nokia & SE can sell their toys because thats what people want. SHARP knows where to make money, and its not in Europe. If only half of the mobile population would want these awesome Multimedia devices SHARP would be in! I mean, my whole holiday in Germany was captured on my mobile...IN SUPERB QUALITY. www.christianlegere.com Skater42

  • hi i am still mad at sharp for remaining with vodafone...companys exist to supply a product to make a profit so the rest of the world suffers because these fones are not available to us (im in uk).I had trouble way back wen the gx30 launched & voda locked most things & could we buy it sim free NO,,can i go & buy this sim free NO..I am sure sharp would be up there with the top place near enough it it went on its own & supplied the whole world with its handsets..This continual hacking and unlocking is solved overnite..SO in conclusion let the whole world enjoy your phones sharp your sales will rocket,,no more trying to obliterate your handsets in attempt to get them to work elsewhere & its fair policy as we in uk & the rest of the world have a right to own a phone we desire..CAN YOU HERE OUR CRYS SHARP..p.s. hello timmy ,,you used to gee me up & call me kenneth

  • @ Timmy & All =============== My Question: What is the actual lock on the phone? Why does the phone reject a non-japanese USIM? Is it possible to modify a foreign USIM so the phone allows access to the card? Or does the phone lock when no valid operator (Softbank) can be found? Can anyone explain how the locking process actually works? cheers, Skater42

  • No, it doesn't support a2dp

  • Hi eh... I think that the phone does support the bluetooth music headsets if thats what you were asking Hi KAY... the 904SH is not unlockable anyware in the world yet.

  • does this phone support a2dp profile for bluetooth stereo music. does anyone know. thanks

  • haha timmy thats okay mine's in a lil red box too

  • Without a doubt the best sharp phone ever. Best LCD and really nice sounds even tho u have to buy the earphones seperatly. Very nice to hold overall a slightly better design then 903SH. I have to continue with my Nokia N91 until unlocking for this beast comes out. I have $700 NZ sitting in a little red box in the corner of my room inside that box is a little black block with a huge padlock through it hahaha... SAD!!!!

  • yikes! the best gsm phone ever! its speakers are really loud! especially when you're taking pictures! hehehe oooo well just have to wait a little longer for the unlocking tool to come!

  • to add to sketch there it take vids up to VGA 640X480 at 15fps while it can play VGA 640X480 at 30fps and smaller (320X240)

  • In addition to my previous comments. i would like to add that the 904 supports video playback for the following formats: *.ASF, *.3GP and *.MP4 All videos can be view in full screen.

  • totaly agreed at sketch other then the part i'm gay ... grrr haha anyways the 904 is a much better phone and its mostly in japanese AND if you dont know japanses DONT GET THE PHONE simple as that

  • @Aznboi128 You're gay. =) @ Kidz The phone will not play any mp3 format songs unless it is DRM protected. This is one of the none piracy functions of the most Sharp phones. This restriction was present in the 903sh as well. @ Coolphoneshopper All the phones made after the said date have been updated w/ the latest f/w. @ Jesse The 904sh's sounds is A LOT louder than the 903sh. @ fotis Go to the menu and select the icon that shows a wrench(a tool) The language changing option will be shown in english. You will recognize it right away as it is the only english phrase in the sea of kanji.

  • To Timmy.. The face recognition works fine.. The phone is set to accomodate both the Japanese and English language.. all the functions except for the V-Applis are converted to english when you choose "english" as the phone language. Face Recognition works fine. You need to take 5 pictures of your face though, in different angles. The speed of face recognition will mainly depend on how good the quality of the profile pictures are.

  • Hi there, To the guy that posted that piece about the 904 and about how the manual was a monster and in japanese..... Do you meen that functions such as the face scanning feature are in Japenses and no english speaking person will be able to use it as even if the phone is in english this part is not? Thanks very much for your time. Tim

  • RE: Kidz im pretty sure that the media player in the phone accepts 192kpbs. u chk this when u right click the file and go to properties. then go to summaries and then advanced and then scroll to the bottom and see BIT RATE... 128kbps is the cd sound quality and 192 is abit louder. but if u want to make ur song louder, try using GOLD WAVE.... on the other hand, im not sure bout the mp3 ringtones. does this phone support mp3 ringtones? bcoz it doesnt says in the specifications. but 903sh does.. thx

  • I mean both of them...i even cant play it in media player in the phone..not sure whether its 192 kbits or not...cause dont know how to check it....mind teaching me some..lol

  • RE: KidZ waitwait...u have to say properly first.... do u mean the media player in the phone or mp3 ringtone? Im not sure bout if 904 uses mp3 ringtone or not but i am definitely sure that the mp3 has to be 192KBPS bit rate max.....

  • Hey....i wan to ask...why 904sh cant play mp3 songs...i tried to upload it into my phone...and when i play it...it says..not supported...haiyo..it only plays aac and m4a and mmf i think...sad..i cant receive songs from my friends anymoren cause seldom people using aac songs

  • the fw update is automatic if your in voda's network area a simple re-pro makes it perfect no need to worry

  • Here is the 904SH info in English

  • Japanese Vodafone's announcement dated 5/18/06 says there are some bugs found on 904SH sold in Japan after 4/15/06 and asking customers to download new software to fix the bugs. If you can read Japanese, check the following link: I wondered import version is free of bugs or not.

  • i heard that its available in Vietnam now =) but no sms available >

  • Sharp are the best phones in the world!Maybe a little bit expensive but the best!Next week i will bye one 903 :),i can`t wait

  • I have a Sharp 904SH and very much satisfied.. Good work SHARP... You are the best when it comes to camera phone...

  • Oh, and about design of this Camera/Phone: I really admire Sharp for having a courage to desing the most convinient, stylish and large sized phones, despite being surrounded by stupid, sissy-fagt looking, thin toy phone brands with their horrible slim fashion! GO-SHARP! GO-PANASONIC! NOKIA: STOP FOLLOWING SONY'S FASHION!

  • Even GSM arena - that never reviews Sharp phones, has acknowledged in its preview of Sharp 904, that Sharp phones are known for having the best quality cameras! GSM arena also stated that Sharp camera phones are known to be the most expensive ones. Well, I would definitely disagree with this one, because no one can beat Nokia in pricing! Even today, Garbage Nokia N90 costs $600!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ ANDY ======= Dialed Numbers =============== Keep in mind that GSMARENA isn't the most accurate portal when it comes to features and specs. The 903SH can hold ~20 items for each outgoing, incoming and missed calls. My combined history takes me back all the way to beginning of May. That should be plenty, and I'm sure it won't be any less on the 904SH. cheers, Skater42

  • does this phone have mp3 ringtone??

  • is this phone louder than 903?????

  • I just got my 904 today and it looks great.I wish that they get it unlock soon.I'm having a bit of a problem though changing to the English version.Does anyone know how to do that?

  • @ edwin yup ive had it unlock as one of those beta phones to try the software so they wouldn't say that they have it available... yea its still unstable but is usable and acceptable for the moment.... as for the store i realy couldn't remember it...

  • Yup it's got plenty features, but seems to have been hit with the ugly stick

  • What's up with such an expensive phone that can only remember 10 missed calls and 10 for the received calls. They should at least offer 30,30 & 30 for all calls. People are paying over $500 U.S.D. for a phone in 2006 that can only remember 10 numbers per category.. Sharp can do better then this.

  • Can anyone tell me if it has fullscreen video playback?? Thx

  • who has got the sharp 904 from japan and it works ok in australia??

  • Well, right now locked versions are going for around $550 USD. Once they get unlocked, I reckon they'll shoot up to $650 - $700 USD. Its a pricey phone, but if you want a good price, buy locked version now and get it unlocked later at a low price.

  • also i noticed here that the 904 unit doesnt comes with an earphone. there no jack or a slot to connect in. i tried my daugthers sharp 802 earphone. it wont fit. how can i listen my music privately and not using the phones speaker. am i akings a dumb question or thers a thing that i should know. PLEASE GUYS HELP IS HIGHLY APPRECIATE!!

  • i just got my sharp 904 from japan just last week. my sister aquired it from vodaphone , she send it by ems. it still connected with the vodaphone. she havent cancelled her contract with the network yet. im waiting to get it unlock. im just enjoying the great features of phone for the meantime.NOW!! my problem is. i just both a 512 mb mini SD memory card. when i try to set it to save the picture to the card it SAYS CANNOT SAVE! is there any thing that i forgot to do. even i already formatted it. i try it to my daugthers sharp 802 unit. it works on her phone. for those who own a 904 i appreciate if you can help me with thig technical problem!

  • it's obvious that it's not true.. =\ HK cracked the phone but it's not stable yet, so they haven't released the method yet.. i don't think that philippines will be the first to have it.

  • @keita congrats coz I read that u been able to hv ur fon "modified". I went to GreenHills last week and they said that they're still in the process of studying & experimenting on how to modify this fon. could u pls share to us the info as to where, name of the shop & how much did it cost to have it modified. thanks in advance.....

  • sharp 904 is a very interesting phone but i can't use the internet service.... i read about the comment that he/she was able to use web surfing here in the Philippines... pls can you tell me how to enable it? because it wont let me use it. it keeps on saying "internet service is not enabled" although i configured the gprs and mms already.... pls plspls can you tell me hows it done? pls e-mail me. thnks

  • WOW! the phone's great! u can just stare at its screen all day and still be more suprised! I've just unlocked it and it's everywhere here in the philippines! it's sooo cheap in greenhills! the sounds superb and the camera is the best ever! eventhough many of its other func won't be optimized outside of japan..who cares! I was able to use it for video calling and web surfing! and of course the DRM is still a problem so i just use video from youtube and convert it to 3gp with mpg4 as its sounds!!!!!!! and its louder than walkman or moto's roker phone! hehehe

  • @ SS Awesome, thanks for the links! Very interesting what you said, and I agree completely. We are already seeing SHARP "Europized" handsets like the 550SH & 770SH which are due end of May at Vodafone UK. They are not the latest in technology, but certainly SHARP quality...to the taste of the Europeans. Looking forward to seeing what else we can expect in the near future, though I will not hold on to the hope of seeing anything similar to the 904SH until next year. Thanks for your info SS, great stuff! Skater42

  • Hello Skater42 As you know Softbank bought Vodafone KK. As the result, Vodafone KK no longer exist (Vodafone brand name remains in Japan until 30th September 2006). They have announced last week that the new name for the network will be Softbank. Very imaginative! So this joint venture is between Softbank and Vodafone Group in the UK. Softbank is not interested in EU market. So you are right there! What Softbank is interested is the Global Roaming and other services Vodafone Group offers overseas that other Japanese operators such as NTT Docomo and au doesnt have advantage on. Also the benefit for Softbank is the introduction of handset manufacturer such as Motorola and Nokia into their line up. Then you may say WHY??? Japanese handsets are miles better in functionality and services. True! But for Japanese, unique design of Nokia, Motorola and Samsung is still seen as attractive and Softbank certainly want to make a difference in Japanese market from design and impact aspects. Benefit for Vodafone is more obvious. They will still keep in touch with the latest services and handset technology, so that they can introduce handsets with advanced technology faster that anybody else in Europe. So what we may see are completely European models but with latest functions etc from Japan. Also to answer your question on Softbanks expertise being Broadband and IT etc. Softbank bought Vodafone KK. Most employees worked for Vodafone KK remained in new Softbanks mobile division. Only the top directors etc have changed. So effectively Softbank is adding IT and network solution expertise to the existing infrastructure of Vodafone KK. So as the result, we may not see direct import of handsets like Sharp 902,903, 703 and Toshiba 921, 803. But what we may see are handsets designed in Europe but taking advantage of latest technology and services from Japan through the join venture. You may already know but if you are so keen on latest mobile handsets and technology from Japan, check out these sites. The sites are updated daily during weekdays and are the best on the web for mobiles news. But of course you may need to start taking Japanese lessons to read them! You might have guessed, I am Japanese! You certainly know the stuff. Keep the good work!!! SS

  • Softbank & Vodafone =================== SS: I hope you're right. I don't quite see it that way though. According to the japanese news Softbank is known for its aggressive competetiveness in the japanese market. Vodafone KK is only a small subsidiary of Softbank, and their other fields of expertice lay in the Broadband & IT sector. They are a Japanese company, should they care about the EU market...we'll see. Whether Softbank & Vodafone KK will have further dealings with the Vodafone Group...I can only hope so, but I don't think it is all that likely. But we'll see how the EU market is going, maybe there is a slim chance of receiving a bit more input from Japan. Skater42

  • Good news! Softbank and Vodafone has teamed up to form a joint venture to develop handsets and software / service / network solutions. Meaning there is still doors opened for slightly altered, yet high spec Japanese models to make it to the European market!!! Very exciting news indeed. I hope that will include this phone to make it here in the UK!!!

  • just got a purple one in hk only 3480hkd...approxiamately $450cad... hope they unlock it soon!!

  • My all time favourite in design was the 802SH. Don't ask me why, but therounded edges and the funky colors were really cool. I LOVE the look of the 904SH as it is very smooth. Black is just as nice as the purple. They look great!!! And I don't mind the size... they are great to hold and everything is just perfect for me. Skater42

  • i heard that the unlock will be up in the next 3 weeks... guess i gotta get this phone... you guys have to actually see the phone in person to appreciate its coolness@! like honestly it looks so much better in person than in the pictures. ;)

  • Quite the opposite... ====================== I think the new models get sexier... The live footage of the 904SH is just awesome! Very nice phone indeed. I really envy the improved Media Player and apparent volume enhancement. Other than that I'm happy to stay with my 903SH for now. The VGA video is cool, but yeah... I'll wait til an official unlock is available :) cheers, Skater42

  • Sharp fones just get uglier and uglier everyday! Who agrees>

  • i already have one of this 904, but still no place could i unlock it, even in greenhills. they says unlocke key will be available in a month or two....i hope its true. so i can navigate how really good it this.

  • Guys chk this out.... Also the below mentioned site, www.umobileco.com this phone is fantastic...but i still love my 903Sh....lol

  • There aint no grey imports. Its officially available in Japan

  • @ Chris If you have a secondary phone you can use in the meantime, maybe. It is not guaranteed, though most likely, that an unlock will be available. Make sure that the source you buy from is trust-worthy, as I have found two sellers on ebay.com that were suss and got taken off. cheers, Skater42

  • should i buy the phone right now? or wait till its unlock kus i heard the price will go up once its unlocked...?

  • @ ALL ====== The only way I will ever learn about this amazing technology is by asking questions and being corrected. I'm willing to learn about this and I DON'T CARE if I get it wrong occasionally because I CAN answer most of your questions when it comes to the 903SH and general mobile queries. I help out occasionally in a mobile store and customers appreciate my feedback in all matters... At least I'm giving it a shot compared to certain other people on this board and that won't change. All I'm asking the MODERATORS of this board is to take a closer look at what kind of TRASH-PITT it is becoming. Skater42

  • @ PJ No offence intended, but can't help it...it was a very funny questions Lisa asked... and I didn't mean to be rude. I've heard that the W900i has an amazing Music Player. I'd love to try it one day. Sharp phones are very high in quality and I've used them ever since I had my first GX20. You should try the 903/904 first before you compare it to the W900i. Skater42

  • Shut up Skater42, dont talk to Lisa like she's stupid. This phone still sucks compared to the W900i, but it sure has some interesting features, like Karaoke. Plus its camera quality is better than the W900i. And I'm sure its screen quality is just as good as 903. Although the battery life doesnt last longer than W900i, its a new phone with a color touch to it.

  • 904SH grey import ================== I have seen the 904SH on ebay.com from US/HK sellers, but one of them was dodgy and got taken off. So, there are grey-imports available for a somewhat reasonable price US$550....BUT unless there is a confirmed unlocking solution I wouldn't dare gambling with this handset. I learnt my lesson from the 903SH. The hacked JP version was good, but it's not comparable to the full-working UK version. A full working phone is worth so much more than one with the latest gadgets. VGA screen is awesome, but I can't really do much with that. I need to access the internet and make phone calls etc. So I'll wait until we have a confirmed unlock... Skater42

  • Locked Sharp 904SH handsets are being sold in Bangkok, with an assurance that a hack to unlock it is on the way and will be available in about two weeks. I have one here with a Vodaphone sim in it so that some of the features can be used. The default wallpaper on the VGA screen is a photo of a leopard, and it is so sharp and vivid that it startles you the first time you see it. When you press the menu button you are asked, "Do you want to get the latest provisioning and update?", but of course that is impossible without a functioning Japanese Vodophone account. Answer no, and the main menu comes up, a nicely designed grid of icons. Most of the standard functions on it, and even some of the new ones, are intuitive and easy to activate. Turning on the motion sensor involves rotating the phone in different directions, and once that is done you can access a compass on the "Tools" sub-menu that really does point north. The user's manual is a monster, but it is written completely in Japanese except for a much-abridged summary that fills a few pages at the end. It includes no instructions for activating the face-scanning security feature, but a Japanese friend who scanned the Japanese-language part of the manual said that directions were given there in detail. Many of the other features, like the comic book reader with its animations and sound effects, won't mean much to anyone who can't read Japanese. Many of the other capabilities that make the 904 so interesting depend on downloads from Vodaphone Japan, so even if it is possible to buy a grey-market unit on the Internet and unlock it, the phone probably won't be as useful outside of Japan as the 903SH is, unless non-Japanese firmware becomes available that offers features different from the ones implemented in Japan.

  • @ Lisa Yes, Japan is in Asia. :) The phone is JAPANESE ONLY at this stage and will officially be sold in Japan, with few gray-imports available on ebay. This phone will not be officially available anywhere else. Skater42

  • @ Ray Hey, that's great news! I'd love to get my hands on one, but just not yet. Can you take a sample video and post it somewhere? I would love to see a short demonstration. No need for images, I've seen samples already and it's the same module as in the 903SH. Also, how is the music quality and speaker-sound? Have they improved volume-levels and Equalizers? cheers, Skater42

  • I just got mine from Japan and WOW!! The Sharp is Sharp! The best phone ever!

  • I haven't ever said anything in this forum but utilize the good comments and information. But the hater who keeps trying to bash on skater needs to stop. Get serious man/woman. If you want to be unkown keep it that way all the way if you are going to demean people. skater I truly appreciate all of you comments on all the sharp forums.

  • karaoke...... amazing

  • @ Mark2 only SHARP flip-phones available in the UK are the 703SH (1.3Mpx), 902SH (2 Mpx), 903SH (3.2mpx), GX29 (VGA)and GX30 (1 Mpx, but not in black). I'm saying you saw the 903SH. Skater42

  • need your help please UK based people. Went to Vodafone store today and saw what looked like sharp 904. but black not blue. said it had 3.2 MP CAMERA, BUT ABSOLUTELY AND DEFINITELY was not 904, what am i looking at then, what model number is it if its not 904?

  • everyone in this form has a right to an opinion on this phone, so lets just keep the opinions on phones, and justs chill................ peace......

  • just recently hsdpa has already been deployed in our country (Philippines) and been thinking if sharp will also manufacture an hsdpa phone. hopefully. the vga is so nice so probably it will stay for sharp's high end phones. about the megapixel, i think 3.2 is pretty much enough for me. what matters is lens quality to produce perfect images. and hey, 904 has anti shake technology. that's a plus. this phone also has a faster processor and graphic engine which enables you to record videos in vga resolution. as some 904 owners say, the speaker is way better than 903 and the 3d surround is superb, the screen is so good that you'll think its fake. that's all what they say with their newly owned 904. man how i wish i can have this phone

  • @ the rude UNKNOWN =================== I debate opinions because this is part of what forums are for. If I feel that someone is being "mislead" by shady or simply unlogical information, then why get everyone's hopes up if it is never going to happen? If the 904 is not being released outside of Japan, and official sources (CeBIT) say so, then why should I encourage a contrary belief? On the other hand you are welcome to prove me wrong. As part of my interests I am analyzing trends of mobile developments, and it is clear that Japanese and European operators and manufacturers have different interests and goals. On the handset-side of things Europe is catching up to Japan quickly. There are still few months in between, but we are getting there. Forget about the US, they will need a fair while. In terms of infrastructure Europe and Asia are on very different levels. With the latest developments in Japan it becomes even less likely for Japanes Exports to enter the EU market. If you do not agree with me than you better give me a reason or simply don't say anything at all. But so far you have nothing better to bring... that's what I call lame. Skater42

  • @ Borgis, M & all ================== Thanks for that, I also believe that this isn't the place for personal attacks, and my opinion is my own. I respect other opinions but when I feel I should contribute, then I will... Spelling mistakes are due to fast typing (not that I need to justify myself). With HSDPA already rolled out in Germany I am hoping for some great Handsets from SHARP. I strongly believe that the VGA screen will stick around as the QVGA started on the GX20 and stayed ever since. In Australia I don't hope for all that much, I would already be happy to get 3G in Coffs Harbour. But...if Telstra eventually rolls-out WCDMA 850 I'll need a bloody new handset. I'm hoping Vodafone will do something soon. I'm happy for SHARP to stick to 3.2 MPx if they keep on improving the CCD sensor they way they have. 5- or 7 MPx would be fantastic, but better processors and the fantastic lenses they make are really my concern. I see a great future in this... Anyways, cheers guys, I enjoy these chats ;) As always, keep me updated if you hear anything new. Skater42

  • heyz all , thanx for replyin to my previous post , been a while since ive checkd anyway a toast for skater ur alrite mate at least u follow sharp fones and know a bit abouts whats goin on , the 904 is definately something to consider , unfortunately its price and availibility are bringing about its downfall , its not available or affordbale to the average joe in AU or EU etc , surely it can be improved and a 905 of some desciption must be on the drawing board some manga cartoon artist must be drawing up a sketch right now , its great to see the japanese people are so far ahead when will other manaufacturers catch up , when will we all have fones that are well worth it , as for attacking others oppinions , dont judge anyone for only god can judge all humans make mistakes no one is perfect we can only try to do our best , till next time folks take care and have fun and watch this space sharp is exactly that SHARP

  • @skater well if the fcc for a new sharp for euro market, which is currently on process, is a 904 then that's very very good!!! otherwise i just hope that it is something high end almost comparable if not comparable to 904. i hope it's the same vga resolution and video recording and louder speaker.

  • guys this forums is supposed to be all about sharp 904 and as the rules say "expressions of hatred,.. sex, sexual orientation.. are strictly prohibited. why blame skater when he himself has the right as well to post his opinion and it seems he know a lot about these kind of phones. to believe or not, its up to you. he's been so positive about his posts specially with sharp and been helping people with their questions. you better give some good contribution to this forum instead of attacking someone.

  • @ Borgis There's no chance of trimming down the firmware without making it a brand-new model. I don't believe that the Japanese Softbank/Vodafone KK would have any interest in "ruining" the reputation of the 904SH for the sake of "under-developed" European networks. Hopefully we will receive a similar quality product with similar specs, but the hope of getting the starved 904 for the EU market remain very VERY slim. It will be interesting to watch though what SHARP will have to offer us in the EU. It better be good. It'd better be more than a 770SH! Skater42

  • @ Uknown Thanks, how nice of you. YES, I am gay, but I don't know about the bastard thing. I've got legitimate parents, thanks. All I'm saying is perfectly reasonable, so I'm sorry to disappoint you guys. If you need to cry about it then I have a few good counselors available. Should you be able to live on then I suggest you make it til your 18th birthday, get a job and get laid! Skater42

  • to everyone this is mark. just changed name to BORGIS to be more identifiable. to tell you frankly i haven't seen the fcc yet. the member i was talking about has some info that "the fcc is currently in approval stages of an unknown sharp phone for Europe... and its not the 770sh. so... all signs are pointing to a euro 904sh." those are his exact words. the phone is still unknown. like i said it is a slim hope. well, i don't know how are they going to trim down some japanese specs of the 904 to make it more european. it has a felica chip inside right? so i'm wondering... will they remove that felica chip for a euro 904 since it is not usable outside japan? anyways, just whatever they do i just hope the euro won't be restricted to just a single theme, since the japanese 904 can customize themes that you can download from custamo.com. i'm planning on getting 904 now since it is cheaper because unlocks are not yet available, but they say it will be soon. but probably that time, prices will go skyrocket. and now comes to view a hope of a euro 904. i'm still thinking if i should get this one now or should i wait if a euro already comes out. i'm just so amazed with the vga resolution. just imagine you can watch your videos in dvd quality with your PHONE. you can even record videos at vga resolution. really great!! i think only n93 can come close to this phone, if not better.

  • OMG!! :-)) 640 x 480 display?? 2x optical zoom? If the menu is intuitive and comes with a flexible OS, this is a must have. The keys could have been designed better though.

  • @ Mark Hey, that would be good news. Have you seen the FCC approval anywhere? I have only seen the Japanese FCC sticker, which means that unless there is an English sticker with an FCC ID it won't appear outside of Japan. Keep us posted if you know anything more, I'll keep my eyes open. Skater42

  • alright i'm back. i've seen some posts from another forum and one member on that forum, a pretty reliable member, has some slim information about a euro version of 904. combining research and some guesswork gave us a hope for a euro version of it. it is because there is an fcc approval already but the phone name is not yet announced. that means a possibility of 904 being released outside japan. so it is still a rumour but atleast it gives us hope.

  • Sorry, my LG wasn't a 7200 LOL, rather a G7020.

  • @AMG I SO hope that you're right :) I haven't used another mobile company since my LG 7200 & NEC e616. GX20, GX30, 802SH and 903SH have been in my possession. And they got better and better as I got along. I expect these improvements from SHARP and hope to see more in the future as well...unfortunatelly I do not make executive decisions on their behalf, and they won't do it to do us a favor. It's all about money... cheers, Skater42

  • SKATER42 with a phone so good and ahead of the other companies, who knows what these companies are goning to do ,maybe they will come up with a sharp 904 sutibel for europe , i dont think it will just stop at the 903. lets just wait..

  • Japanese Solo ============== In my opinion from this stage on, as Softbank is taking over Vodafone KK, Japan will once again isolate itself from the European mobile market. DoCoMo has always kept the latest to itself, it has taken years just to adopt i-mode & WCDMA which is pretty much old news now. Vodafone KK won't be much different. And no, Vodafone != (does not) Vodafone. Vodafone KK is now Softbank and will probably loose interest in the European market quickly. Just as much as the European market is not really interested in the Japanese. Simply because we see these exciting new Vodafone models on Voda KK/Softbank does not mean that Vodafone Group will go down the same track I'm afraid. After all, only a small percentage of Japanese 3G mobiles have ever made it to the EU continent, 5 that I can think of. We will see what the future holds, but for 2006 I don't think it will look very good for SHARP, but SE, Nokia & Motorola are in the race as always...yay...whatever. Not cool. Skater42

  • @ AMG The best way to see what SHARP phones will be available, check out the official SHARP site in your country. If the phone isn't listed there, it won't be out. www.sharp-mobile.com Skater42

  • @ AMG Did I offend you before? I merely address you by the name "AMG" which you choose to use, didn't know that was your car... but, thats what you call yourself. I'm talking about mobiles, what else were you thinking of? Of course I respect your thoughts... it's your right to express them. I do the same, remember that this is text you're reading. I'm smiling behind the screen ;) I'm just saying that the chance of getting Felica & NAVI AND the 904SH are very slim. I don't know about the EU, but FeliCA seems to stay in Japan for the moment. No news or press releases that I know of that would change this in the near future. Skater42

  • sorry i forgot to put my name

  • skater42 .. if most of the new sharp phones have all these features then vodafone will lunch these features in europe, you said the same thing i did...........................................we cannot expect the 904sh until felica & navi have been introduced, as most sharp phones now feature them (703f, 804, 904, 905), and it makes no sense to trim the firmware just for the european market.

  • skater42 the name amg comes from the car i drive, so lets just keep it to cell phones, i respect your thoughts. do the same...............

  • @ AMG Whatever... name has not much to do with it. The 902SH and 903SH were perfectly compatible with the local networks and didn't feature anything that wasn't available. We cannot expect the 904SH until Felica & NAVI have been introduced, as most SHARP phones now feature them (703f, 804, 904, 905), and it makes no sense to trim the firmware just for the European market. As someone else mentioned before, SHARP & Vodafone KK are the "brains" behind the development of these phones, not Vodafone Group EU. The 902/903 were just suitable for the local networks but I don't believe that Softbank Group, the new owner of Vodafone KK, will have much interest in European sales. Get a gray-import, but don't wait for Vodafone to release it, I believe you will waist your time unfortunatelly. Skater42

  • vodafone will probably lunch the 904 along with FALICA AND VODAFONE NAVI in the eu......

  • 902 then 903 then 9 0 4 .if it was only for japan it would have a diferent name for example 909 or something. i am sure it will be released in the eu............

  • 904SH...probably not ==================== Uhm...when the 903SH was released in Japan it was official that a European Version was planned. With this phone it is not the case (yet). The reason we will not get this phone is that the majority of Features are not available in the EU. We don't have: - Felica - VF NAVI! - etc. Why should they release a phone if it cannot be used with these features? Why would SHARP create a similar version without these features? The 904 is a Felica & GPS flagship, they won't downgrade the features. So either Vodafone Group is introducing Felica & NAVI, or forget about seeing an official EU Version of this phone. Skater42

  • "The likely hood shes said was that we wouldnt be getting it. Unfortunatley. But this may change" I'm not giving up hope just yet :o) When the 903 was released there were no plans for a UK release either :

  • Hi guys. I work for Vodafone n was at a product presentation with Vodafones head of device portfolio. I myself am a dedicated Sharp follower, having prviously owned the GX30, 902 and now the 903. I asked about the 904 n when it will be coming out in England. The likely hood shes said was that we wouldnt be getting it. Unfortunatley. But this may change. Looked at several other devices n were asked on our opinions as to what products we should be gettin. Nokia N80 n SonyK800 r likely models. Watch customers come in, n be like "Wow, a 3megapixel phone", however all us Sharp lovers known theres been a great little device (i guess it aint tht little) tht does that, thts been out since August 2005 in the UK. Naz

  • Hello again, just to let you know, it was the Sharp 904 that the woman from vodafone said would be released. But when i called up again today I spoke to a few different people who had no idea and just said "sorry, its not on the system" luckily one bloke in the promotions dept was quite sure the SHARP 904 WILL be released in the UK but not until nearer the end of the year,he said he also has always had shap fones and keeps up to date on the news.So for now i've ordered the 903, what a shame it has no external display though! Roll on the end of the year !!

  • Hi mark,Can you please let me know what settings should i make to be able to use my 903 3G on our network.. I have all detail needed to be put on my phone but still it does not work may be i'm missing something .... please mail me on this post as it contain my maill add!!! Thx

  • There's hope... ================ Let me say something positive for a change. This phone is only available in Japan, BUT so was the 802SH. There was still a UK firmware for the 802SH, though it had flaws. It is difficult to say if the UK firmware exists, as the main features are not yet available in the UK/Germany (Felica, NAVI, etc.). As for Australia I can't say that GPRS/3G will ever work, as the 802SH didn't work either (I called Vodafone TOO many times to be wrong). But at least calling & SMS was fine. I don't mind the shape of this handset. I don't care about the external screen, but a lens-cover would have been nice. They really need it. Doesn't matter how scratch-resistant the glass, cleaning fingerprints every time is driving me coo-coo. TRICK QUESTION: ================ All you developers out there. Is it possible to fake a Device ID? When I access the network I want to show the network that I am using a "903SH" instead of a "904SH", which will be unknown since it is not available here. This way I can access the GPRS network as I'm faking to be a "903SH". Sounds like an idea? Skater42

  • as phones go , 7 - 8 MP is gettin on the ridiculous side of things u want a digital camera buy a digital slr LOL , a phone should not weigh in excess of 100g heavier than this it aint good for pocket anyway back on topic of 904 great to see ppl importn it but who can unlock the jap version and offers support for mms grps settings? as i said earleir the external screen should be like gx30 at least if they can afford to put full VGA main screen , visually this phone isnt as stunning as 903 its very squarish and the buttons dont follow classic sharp style ie GX30 , its like a massive version of gx25 lol part from that can it play any mp3 as a tone or is it voda controlled? hopefully we can get this phone in aust and prove some ppl wrong jap fones are indeed the best available and they will continue to advance ... cheers m

  • i just want some comments.... i saw this phone on sale today in hong kong...the pricing for this phone is 3800hkd which is around 490usd. comparing to the unlocked 903 (450usd). this phone however is locked for japanese vodafone only. the sales told me if i use the hk vodafone, i will still be able to get incoming calls.. but this is strange...since if the phone is locked, shouldn't it only work in japan but nowhere else ????

  • It just doesn't like linking on here: "www.fs-newmobile.com/images/media/sharp/v904/cebit%202006%203459.jpg" Copy + Paste this into your browser

  • This is the photo from the CeBIT at Hannover, Germany: (Thanks to mobile-review.com and fs-newmobile.com) It clearly states: "This mobile phone will only be available in Japan." It seems to be another "802SH", which was a tri-band, but Japan exclusive. The only way to get the 802SH/904SH at the moment is via ebay.com. Skater42

  • Vodafone UK =========== Are you sure the lady spoke about SHARP and not TOSHIBA? IF Vodafone UK is releasing FeliCA in the next few months...Maybe. If NOT: Forget it! There are too many reasons against its release in Europe than for it. Sorry, Skater42

  • I'm due my phone upgrade, so i spoke to Vodafone UK. When I asked if the Sharp 904 was going to be released the woman said she hadn't heard of it, but she looked it up and said it IS coming out in the UK, but she was unsure when, could be months she said, but no more info than that. Anyone know when exactly?

  • @Chanakya Shah Yes, the phone is also available for ~US450-500 on ebay.com. I was considering buying it, but I want it unlocked now so I will wait. There are no real benefits for non-japanese other than the display, and maybe a better Video-resolution (VGA?). I don't care about the games and bio-metrics, they are great features but not worth sacrificing more vital functions like MMS & 3G services. My 903SH works absolutely perfect on my Network and its very important to me that I have full access and perfect compatibility. NAVI & FeliCA are not accessible for anyone outside of Japan yet, and the camera is still the same (though with minor improvements). I shall wait over the next few months and see how we go! Skater42

  • @ Gloria, I know, but then again...it doesn't really matter. I feel really awful, but I hate saying that the se models will not come out of Japan. 905SH is WCDMA only, very unfortunate. 904SH is GSM/WCDMA, but you'll have to get a n imported version. It sucks, Skater42

  • just to let you all sharp 905 anticipators know that the camera is ONLY 2.0 megapixels visit this site to check it out!

  • @ Mark That's what I'm trying to explain to you all this time: WHITE-LISTING is a network dependant feature. One network chooses to allow the 802SH access to its GPRS network, the other doesn't. Some allow ANY mobile to access their networks, others allow only certain ones. The REASON: ============ You cannot simply allow any device to access a network. Mobile phones & PDA's interact with a network, receive/send information and this requires processing. Incompatible devices can disrupt or interfere negatively with the network and need to be tested and approved. Some networks do not allow foreign mobile phones on the network because they have not been tested with local services, even though their technical specs are fine. The 802SH was released outside of Australia, and Vodafone AU & Optus chose not to allow it on it's GPRS network. Trust me, I tried all settings possible. Vodafone support could not do anything but tell me what I'm telling you. Lucky you if you can use foreign mobiles on your network ;) Skater42

  • things to look forward to from 904. 1.face recognition 2.anti shake technology for camera 3.full web browser. 4.faster browsing(though its the same 3g network) these infos are from other forums.i cant guarantee on these specs.so its still a better phone compared to 903 aside from those specs that are more network related.

  • @skater when im using 802 i was able to access wap and mms.i used the same settings with my 903.it worked fine.ive been reading from other posts and found out that there are some who cannot wap or mms on a specific network but other users can using the same network.they only need to check the right settings.i really dont know what white list is.i just think its all in the correct settings.;)

  • The lock version is finally available !

  • @ Mark, As I said before, if the phone is "white-listed" on your network (Vodafone, T-Mobile, Optus etc) it may work. My 802SH did NOT even work on VODAFONE AUSTRALIA, and it was a Vodafone exclusive. I called customer support and they said that the network had not allowed the 802SH to access GPRS, ie. not been white-listed. Now this will most likely be the case with the 904SH in Australia, but please do check with your local provider first. One thing is for sure, do not think you will be able to use NAVI, CAST or FeliCA. These are Japan Exclusives and no other Vodafone network currently has support for them. cheers, Skater42

  • To skater42. I may not be in the right thread. I think you only need to adjust your mms and gprs settings because i myself can access wap and send and receive mms without any problems. And i'm not even a vodafone network subscriber. Maybe you can try double checking your settings.

  • available in vodafone jp for 24800 yen with bill pay contract , dats approx 175euro

  • AVAILABLE ========== As of today (15th of April) the 904SH is available in most Vodafone KK stores Japan wide. Skater42

  • 7mp was done bout a year ago by casio but only works in japan but as for thesharp 904 it is a fab fone well worth buying uintill the frenzy of high pixled phone cameras.

  • @ Hristo 904SH will be available in late April in JAPAN ONLY. This means: - Get a contract with Vodafone KK and use roaming or - Wait for some gray/black-market models on ebay. cheers, Skater42

  • Thx for your reply Skater42. Will wait till 5mp or greater fone are availble.I think LG will introduce its 5mp fone in a few months. It has been planned for July and its cam is really good according to the CDMA version.

  • 7 MEGAPIXELS ============= Last time I checked out the SHARP web site they were talking about 7 Megapixels CCD Modules. Now, whether this was meant for "Digital Cameras" or Mobile Phones isn't quite clear, though I think it was talking about "Slimline" models, which could include mobiles. As for SHARP, I think they would skip the 5-Megapixels and go straight to 7. Would make sense to me. cheers, Skater42

  • hello just wanted to know what's the memory slot that you can place in this phone can it go up to 1gb???? If anyone has the answer plz let me know thank you! This phone looks great I don't care how ugly it looks but I'm loven it! hahaha

  • Does anyone know if sharp is planning to make fone with 5mp cam or greater? They were the first to launch 1mp, 2mp and 3.2mp fone on the gsm market.Don't know if they will continue as LG is planning to release 5mp fone before the end of the year.

  • MMS & stuff ============ Yes, on my JAP 903 I had the exact same settings as on my UK one. It would send the MMS but never get anywhere. Even though the 904SH will be "illegaly" available overseas, no network has it "white-listed" and hence is most likely to block access to GPS, WAP, MMS etc. So all those cool functions won't be usable. Skater42

  • Anybody know if it could support bluetooth audio aka playing the songs stored in phone from the bletooth headset??

  • Hey Skater, have you tried adjusting the settings for MMS? I had to adjust mine for it to work.

  • Don't really understand why people keep complaining about no external screen. I'm satasfied that there is no external screen on my 903sh. If there was, they may give up on the swirvel screen , then who the hell am I going to watch my videos on the phone? I'm glad they kept the swirvel on the 904. Am I going to get the 904? Although I'm tempted, its a tough call. 'Cause wat am I going to do with my 903sh?

  • Calming Down ============= If people ask why this phone hasn't got an external screen when it does...well. It's not that, it's the fact that people don't read or take notice of anything that is written on here. I can explain myself 10 times and next is another one that just can't be bothered to read. UNLOCKING / IMPORTING ===================== The 903SH IS available in Europe, and hence has other firmware available. I'm hoping that there will be European Firmware for the 904SH, as it was for the "Japan Only" 802SH. BUT...having said this: The newer models are based on CID49 apparently, which is a bit difficult to crack at this stage. Even if you do get the imported version (very possible), you won't be able to use most of its features (MMS, WAP, GPS etc.) because no network will support the phone. And don't even think of being able to use FeliCA outside of Japan for now. I had the awesome 802SH, nothing worked other than calling & SMS. I had the JAP 903SH, and MMS didn't work. Neither did WAP or Vodafone live. The UK Version is fine though. With FeliCA & NAVI I would assume that Vodafone has new measures of security. After all, FeliCA is the "Mobile Credit Card". You would want to make sure your details are safe. I know that there will be gray-imports, and I'll look out for one. But you're really only buying it for the screen, camera & music player, because the rest simply won't work. We won't officially see this baby outside of Japan until the rest of the Vodafone World get's FeliCA and NAVI. Skater42

  • by external screen u mean that small lcd thing on the front , if they can afford to put the most amazing screen available on a phone as the main surely they can put one on the front (external)? as for it only available in japan , there must be a way to import it , and somehow unlock after all at the beginning this was the case for the 903 only a few small design flaws ie : buttons etc part from that - no question this fone is the one to buy imagine facial recognition - practically no one can be you so only u can get into ur own phone , and GPs is awesome no more getting lost on the road

  • EXTERNAL SCREEN =============== What are you guys on about??? Just look at the pictures. It does have an external screen, very small, but YES, it does. YES: BARCODE SCANNER. It pretty much has all the features of the 903SH, including an external screen. And NO, it will not be released outside of Japan. Skater42

  • as a phone user , guess this phone is the best ive come across, pity no xternal display , having 3.2 with optical zoom is amazing and first fone to have Full VGa screen resolution and 3G capability , why is there no loudspeaker , or locked Mp3 ringtonez is there any fone on market made in japan that can top this? or have similar charecteristics , any japanese made elecronics are very reliable and of good quality my GX30i has lasted for ages , does this phone have barcode scanner like 903 is it as big as 903 or bigger? how long battery last n how much video call can you have cheers phone pplz Masta

  • The only missing here is just the external display!

  • RE: Skater42 i dunno....y dun u tell me?

  • @ZGMF-X322A I'm not arguing that the phone won't appear on the gray/black market in HK. I'm sure it will. The CeBIT stand in Hanover made it clear "Japan Only." The FCC apparently did not approve a European Version for this phone, and no announcements by Vodafone Europe/ SmarTone hint that it won't be released outside of Japan (as many other models). Apparently Vodafone KK also was bought out by another Japanese Company (SOFTBANK CORP). This could mean the end of Japanese series for Europe & the rest of the world. We are not taking into account "gray/black" imports. Phones ONLY officially available in Japan by SHARP (GSM compatible or single mode WCDMA): - V904 (Felica) - V905 - V804 - V802 - V801 - V703f (Felica) Now you tell me why these handsets do not appear on the Vodafone EU, Smartone or Vodafone Pacific market. And I know, the 703SH is available in HK & UK, but not the 703SHf (Felica). This is the difference, Vodafone has not rolled out MobileTV & Felica in most countries outside of Japan and won't launch handsets that are made for such networks. Skater42

  • RE:skater42 Im pretty sure that 904SH will be out in HK in no time since HK's telecom, smartone-vodafone is one of the retailer of SHARP phones. there is a piece of news saying that 904SH is going to be out in April...but they didnt mention where, but it should be in japan. even tho it will be out in japan, there is a company in hk who will try their best to unlock the phone with high piority. just to let u know

  • yaah!! the xcitement of being able to pay ur bills with just swiping ur fone! hahahaha OMG i know DoCoMo would not make their phones commercially available to the whole world but it sucks! they should at least share their japanese technolgy to us! hehehe

  • @ZGMF-X322A 904T is TOSHIBA, not SHARP. SHARP 904 will not be released outside of Japan. Skaer42

  • RE:skater42 V904T is out in Hong Kong already...dun u know??? I do still prefer my 903sh... maybe u ought to chk out this website

  • @ZGMF-X322A Well, the major difference is the VGA screen: That's 4x the resolution of the 903SH, 640 x 480 pixels. That's smooth... FeliCA and biometric locking etc. That's a whole heap of features that I would appreciate...if I'd live in Japan. But the 903SH is still top-class for the Western World. Skater42

  • COMING OUT IN... late April for Japan. NOT AVAILABLE IN EUROPE, ASIA-PACIFIC OR USA. ===============================================

  • Hmm... what can i say?? its kinda the same as the 903sh.... only it has fewer stuff in it, a bit bigger internal memory and a different look...but the back looks awkward... and actually it has another competitor, the 904Toshiba... similar features and the outlook is kinda better...

  • @ Keita, OH YEAH! Japanese phones are definatelly special to me :) Not because they are "cool" and a "gimmick", but because they are THE combination of multimedia. In a few years mobiles will improve the way we: - Read, watch and distribute news - play games - share & distribute music - purchase online - and most of all...communicate with friends, family & businesses oh yeah, the future is exciting! Skater42

  • ahihihi skater42 we share the love for japanese phones!!! yup this phone is nothing comparde to the real phones showcased by docomo! docomo rules!!!!!! and i-mode is soon coming in our country! ahihihihi w/c means i mode capable phones are to invade and kick out nokia! an't wait for that!!!!!

  • RELEASE 904 PART 2 ================== Other sources state that no FCC approval has been granted for Europe, only Japan. The stand at CeBIT in Hanover explicitly mentioned "Japan Only" for this handset. Sorry folks, I hate being negative, but it doesn't look good. Skater42

  • RELEASE 904SH ============= Official Release in Japan is April. EUROPE & ASIA PACIFIC Highly doubtful whether they will release the 904SH at all. Due to FeliCa & other functions it is my opinion that the 904SH will not be release here this year. I could be wrong, but there have been no announcements of FeliCa or GPS systems for Vodafone AU, and European Vodafone networks also do not offer FeliCa at this stage. Vodafone would not release a "half-finished" product for a Market that cannot utilize its functions.

  • I LOVE the look of this phone!!!! When the 903 came out I was a bit disappointed as it didn't have the external mono display the 902 had, but its great to see that Sharp have chosen to add this again!!! I can't wait until it comes out, anyone know when it does????

  • Built-in Handsfree ================== Yes, like the 802, 902 and 903 3G etc, this model has got handsfree speakerphone functionality. All 3G handsets utilize it because of the Video-Call function, which needs to be accessible even without a head-set. Makes sense? Skater42

  • does it include handsfree speaker phone feature???

  • 905SH NOT AVAILABLE IN EUROPE ============================= As per this article it seems that the new 905SH will not be operational in Europe. According to the document it is single-mode WCDMA, no single-mode phones (like NEC 802, 703) have ever been introduced to Europe as they would only funciton partially on European Networks. The majority of Europe still uses GSM. >> www.vodafone.jp/english/release/2006/20060315e.pdf

  • The Sharp 905 has been announced!!! However, the screen has much lower resolution (240x400 as opposed to VGA) and also a lower resolution camera (2mp opposed to 903 and 904's 3.2mp) but it supports TV signals... fair trade? you decide:

  • wow wow excellent Perect 100% millon wining vote,i want vote loudly scream win sharp 904,.I Want take mobile Sharp 904, i dream Sharp said free mobile sharp 904 gift gave me, city Dubai Country United=Arab=Emirates

  • According to the reply from a fellow member, this phone is designed for Japanese market as well as some asian markets. The phone makers do not require to make "good" phones but good camera and good display. This is the easiest thing to attract people to replace their cell phones. Therefore this phone might not fit someone who wants a decent and reliable phone.

  • Again, this is another phone that takes money from your pocket, and you will dump it to the garbage bin after you find out that the VGA screen and the 3.2MP camera become unless and that the reception is still as poor as before few months later. However this phone looks a lot better than 903SH. It becomes its only new selling points since GX20 was intoduced.

  • Someone asked it they could flash this phone with the 903SH firmwarethe answer is NO! The software needed to support the massive graphics capability of the VGA screen are not a part of the standard QVGA OS software in the 903SH.

  • @Johny, it does have an external display and it is due to be released in April in Japan. No formal dates for Europe as yet. It may not be released in Europe any time soon. Skater42

  • When will this model be available in Europe? Also I would like to know how can I see who is calling me (no ext.display?)

  • @ SOT DUDE, forget MP3 & Radio. Wakey Wakey... MP4 (AAC,AAC+) is the way to go. It's up to 3 times smaller compared to a regular 192kbps MP3, same quality. I can fit 223 songs on a 512MB CARD!!! ====================================== Who needs radio... if you want a song you can download it straight. And MP4 ringtones sound just as good, smaller size. cheers, Skater42

  • They can...and they need it! ============================ These phones are primarily designed for the Japanese Market. FeliCA is by no means new. DoCoMo introduced it in mid 2005, and Vodafone is following. Though I don't believe we will see Felica too soon in the Western World. Korea and Japan are the most technologically advanced markets, they are competetive as nothing else. These handset are not all that special (besides the VGA screen, that's just hot!). If you look on Docomo's web site you will find that most cameras offer large screens, 2-4 MPx cameras and motion detectors, fingerprint scanners (to unlock your mobile) and of course: Felica. Welcome to Japan :P Skater42

  • @Skater42 Yes it comes with 2X optical zoom Somehow GSMarena missed it.

  • It seems to me that most of the Sharp phones are for technology demonstration. They come with unusual features. They have included a lot of these applications simply because they can. This one comes with VGA display, motion control sensor, face recognition,GPS navigation, local area chat using Bluetooth, comic book viewer and karaoke application etc. SH902i lets you switch the LCD to narrow-angle view for privacy. 703SHf comes with an integrated Mobile FeliCa smartcard for plane ticketing, point programmes and electronic money shopping. Sharp 902 includes a barcode scanner and optical character recognition package. Sharp V602SH included a dog bark translator.

  • No radio????No mp3 for ringtone???What are they thinking????If there was a chance for bying it they blew it!!!K800 rules!!!!except from the video :(

  • Hmmmm... I'm a little bit disappointed about the camera. I was hoping for a 5 or 7 Megapixel phone. VGA Display is awesome though! I love the size of the V903/V904! I own a 903 and its just so handy, perfect size! Optical Zoom ============ I haven't heard anyone talk about optical zoom. Does this mobile have it? I know that the 604SH did not incoporate optical zoom. I absolutely love the optical zoom on the 903, it's just so good to have. Shape & Color ============= The sexiest phone for me was the 802SH. I like the 903, but am not quite sure about the 904. Reminds me a bit of the 302SH (GX25). Not a big fan of baby-blue either, but after all it doesn't look cheap. I LOVE SHARP :) Skater42

  • vbideo-cll CIF camera?...what happenned 2 VGA??? but overall, i lyk this fone...Sharp should now work on sizing...903 was a bit thick...

  • ixcp, the resolution is 4x QVGA not 2x.

  • A VGA display has 640*480 pixels. In addition, QVGA displays has 320*240 pixels(which is the half). The display of 904 must be exellant!!!

  • what is a vga display? is it better?

  • face recognition ???? wow!!

  • cool a vga display in mobile phones whats next?

  • about the phones size. yes it has 3.2 mp camera and a secondary one inside, and it is 3G but there are other coming soon phones with the same specs and they are significally slimmer!!!!!

  • hey guys. this fone has not mp3 ringtones?

  • dude try google or something. wifi is wireless technology in communications. like have wireless access to internet, or send or receive data again wireless.. and so on.

  • ok......im doing a quiz at work....no one i have spoken to actually knows this...not the networks or most people in the mobile ind.......WOT DOES WiFi stand for.....plz help

  • to kyle dude everyone is entitled to their opinion so there is no point saying i like or don't like the phone. like you said the external display could be bigger. im just kind of disappointed with the overall design of this phone. It should be, like sharp 903, great.

  • TO JON DUDE: Jonny, honestly to me it's a very goodlooking phone. The only thing coud be better if the externa caller ID screen would be larger. I don't care that this phone is for JAPAN ONLY. It has GSM 900/1800/1900, so it will work everywhere on T-Mobile USA (the hell with ATT/CINGULAR and their 850 B.S.)

  • To Timmy or whoever may know...Do you think that it will be possible to flash the 904 firmware to the 903...I'd consider that only unless a 905 drops with a better camera or wifi or something major in terms of improvement. I only would want the face recognition other than that it is the 903 with a better screen (which really isn't something that I was complaining about considering the 903 screen is bright as I've seen on a screen)

  • To Kyle Dude: I dont mind if the phone is big as long it is at least a good looking one and its size is justified by its specs. From the specs of this phone you cant expect it to be slimmer. But can you honestly tell me that this is a good looking phone??And will it have the same features in UK as the ones that are going to be available in japan??

  • Pixels do not decide size... Its quality, which is 16*22cm, so if mobile phone has 4*5 cm it means it has 17 times better display than SE t610 eller similar...

  • "37 x 48 mm" there must be a very small error in one of theese numbers, or the pixels are non-quadratic. Even including rounding theese numbers can't be 3:4 ratio. Could be 36x48 or 37x49 though (higest number rounding to 48 is less 48.5, 48.5 * 3/4=36,375 rounds to 36)

  • Sorry for the double post forgot the link :)

  • Hey check out this review and pics cant wait hope it can be unlocked, love my 903 but really want to get this one, the USA phones suck compared to these Sharp phones so that is why I hope it can be unlocked.

  • 480x640 display??? somebody explain me this!! it would be like 16cm x 22cm i dont rhink so can somebody explain me???!!!

  • YEAH, CUT THE CRAP ABOUT PHONE'S SIZE. You want a small phone? THEN BUY PANASONIC'S X300 , so you can enjoy the rediculous small keypad! Or buy Sony k750, or new LG phone It will take you a minute to dial any #.

  • I doubt that this specific phone will go on sale outside of Japan. So many of the phones features are for use in Japan only (such as GPS & FeliCa). Living in Japan and owning a FeliCa mobile, it is a fantastic feature that I use to it full potential. However, it requires significant investment from other, non-network companies to make it successful; something I doubt would happen outside of Japan. My guess would be that a scaled back version (without Japan-specific features) would be more likely to go on sale in the rest of the world as Vodafone surely will be dying to get this VGA phone out as a 'look at me' flagship phone to stick it to all the other networks!

  • I am curious about the face recognition...I have the 903sh in the U.S. and considering how hard they have made getting new 903's unlocked i can imagine how hard it will be to find one of these unlocked...

  • TO JON DUDE: 1)I'm sorry dude for you, but this phone has a very normal phone's size (means loud sound quality and convinient keypad!) 2) For most people in Asia and in Britain (this phone will be mainly in Asia an Britain) , the large phone size is normal. Only for most europeans, and especially for american kids, the normal phone size doesn't look normal

  • Take a look here, there is a possible 905 type phone already out(the one at the bottom of the page) although it look kind of big but so do those pda phones....

  • i think is ugly, very ugly. and still too big. it would be great if the new sharp had these spec and would also be smaller and more attractive than this.the 903 has better looks

  • 904SH will come out at Japan on beginning of April. The 904SHs VGA LCD had four times the resolution of current QVGA LCDs, making it possible to reduce visuals and render small characters with more vividness and clarity than before The main features of 904SH are as follows: -First mobile headset with VGA LCD AND leading-edge spec: 3.2 megapixel autofocus 2X optical zoom camera and stereo speakers that support 3D surround sound. -Support new service and feature: Bluetooth communication, applications for newly-developed motion control sensor, Vodafone k.k.s first Face Recognition. -Flagship model that fully support exiting 3G service like Vodafone live! Felica for e-money and e-ticketing and Vodafone live! NAVI for GPRS navigation

  • hello...y have the 903..and it is the best.i think the 904 it will be better ..the best!!!

  • bit like panasonic vs7. otherwise good

  • Im about to cry? i thought that the 904SH was gonna be better than 903?? 903 looks 10X better! :(

  • There is a 905 confirmed going to be released this year. I own a 903 and I'm dissappointed that the camera is still the same. If you already own a 903, I suggest to wait for the 905. It should at least come w/4megapixels hopefully.

  • FeliCa = Wallet

  • will this phone come out to austrlia if so when and how much would it cost?

  • i think the main updrade for this 904 is the screen. k800 is using xenon flash which creates more powerful flash light than normal LED flash. we are still dont know how is the camera quality would be, would it be the same as 904 or better. but the great feautures from this 904 is the face recognition. it is damn cool to lock the phone instead using PIN number

  • phone will be available on april. ONLY in japan. Taiwan will be available on oct. UK probably will be end of 2006.

  • Sharp, Sharp , Sharp. Yes, this is definitely the sharpest phone ever made and it's made by Sharp. EXCELLENT PHONE. Not a real digital camera yet (no manual control, shutter speed or ISO settings, no xenon flash), but Sharp is almost there. LOVELY DESIGN, BEAUTIFUL SCREEN AND FEAUTURES MAKE THIS PHONE #1 in 2006 so far. Will see if Panasonic will com up with new ideas as well this year (Remember, this year Panasonic is working on creating UMTS phones only).

  • with such a beutiful screen they might as well include DMB or DVB or TMB something like that

  • Ok guys, since today there are two latest design out (K800 form Sony and 904 sharp) which one you all think is better? personal feeling, i love the K800 perfect phone but the new Memory card format put me off a little.

  • Sharp continues delivering the most Amazing, Sharp, Mature-Looking and Durable phones! Unlike Sony and lately Samsung with Nokia, Sharp makes normal sized, mature looking phones! (Looks like a real man's phone, and not a sissy female toys such as Sony k750 or Nokia n70 and Lg 5mp new phone) WELL DONE ONES AGAIN. GO SHARP!!!!

  • Thats one nniiiice phone.

  • one of the most fully pack handset around!!!

  • Amazing phone in terms of spec. But the question is when will it be available in the UK!? and what about Felica function???
