Sharp 930SH - User Reviews

  • Help! I can't find this phone anywhere for sale!

  • I have a soft bank 930sh but it's locked its displayed us in locked how can I remove the lock.

  • where did you bought it?

  • Near About between 8000 to 15000 thats my thinking

  • What is the price of the phone

  • they have a chinese-market only version ending in a -c suffix, MTK platform, rubbish. might use the same batteries as this version

  • i have this phone,,but we have no battery its hard to find,,here in the phillippines,,

  • I dream of a phone with these specs PLUS the latest Android and full 3G capabilities, unlocked of course. :-o

  • how's the battery life for this phone,is it good?

  • i have this sharp 930 SH from japan but i want to know if i can open line this phone here in the philippines?

  • I want this phone especially the blue green one. Is this available in Hong Kong/Singapore in English? And how much? :)

  • anyone can help me?? ican't play video mp4 file on my wxt930. i try some file with different size.

  • i want to buy wx-t930, but the seller said the battery is not last longer. are there another type of battery for this phone that have better capacity? can i install ebuddy or other messenger on wx-t930?

  • sharp DO sell phones in south east asia. specifically taiwan. search "far eastone" then prepare to pick your jaw off the floor when you see the prices they charge.

  • i have one of these phones, and i live it to bits. the camera is great, the screen is FANTASTIC (just as good as samsungs AMOLED in terms of contrast and color re production) and the build quality is better than anything i have played with from the western markets. but having owned 4 japanese phones now, i must admit that your money is much better spent on a "normal" phone. lets look at what you get in the standard 930sh if you "acquire" one out side japan. first off it will cost you 500 USD for the phone (or there abouts) then an extra 40 or so to "liberate it." if this is the way you chose to go, for your $540 you get a phone that will send SMS, make voice calls, take photos and play video. (only when encoded in the correct aspect ratio, format and bit rate (and its VERY picky about all 3) thats all. no internet at all, no video calling, no installable java/flash apps. if you buy the chinese "sharp 1810C) then you get GPRS thrown into the mix, all be it at 100-150 bucks more. this is what i have and its (slightly) less picky with audio / video formats (but not aspect ratio or bitrate) internet is functional, but even a $100 normal phone downloads faster. want HSDPA (that you can use outside japan)? want it in a 930SH case. how does $1000 USD sound? you can buy a factory unlocked 930sh from taiwan for a grand. i love japanese phones. they look great have amazing screens and i have yet to have a single one stop working (i have 6, the oldest being from 2002) but unless you dont use mobile internet, i cant recommend this phone to you. however if you dont use mobile internet and are are looking for a unique camera phone, look no further than the 1810C........ because every japanese camera phone after it has its camera locked to a soft bank simcard :P

  • where i can repair software 930SH ?

  • Why SHARP didn't sell in South East Asia?? I a fan of SHARP phone, hope it can globalize it..

  • @abs: well, what type nokia are you comparing with? at least nokia doesn't have product that use WQVGA. so it's totally better at the screen.

  • don't listen to him, im using the taiwan version, only lack of wi-fi...the rest, beat flat nokia and the rest of the phones...their more concern with the built...

  • yes there is an "AM" radio u are like me you like listining to news very dificult to tell you where to go on you phone it is in sound, setting, alter,am,fm click sorry if this no help to u as im not good giving instructions go into local phone shop

  • This phone is crap you will be dissapointed with it... 2 out of 10 (NEGATIVE)

  • i would like to know whether this phone is sold in malaysia? or if i buy it in taiwan, can i use it in malaysia? well, i don't think there is any sharp phones available in malaysia. i m a SHARP fan,i just love the big screen n secondary camera. i saw people in japan n taiwan used sharp's phone, mostly. so i was planning to buy one too. what bout the new limited edition sharp phone,SH-o4B? the melty chocolate series by docomo? pls reply me msg.

  • I too would love to own one of the many fab jap phones out there. Has anyone ever heard of Hitachi Woo H1? Look it up and be amazed as I was. The problem with them is that many of the services that make owning 1 of em unique isn't supported by carriers outside jap, features like their i-mode or i-wallet. Hopefully one of the jap cell network companies setup operations in the U.S (my location), or at least collaborate with a telecom company to make their services available as I would gladly pay even if it were much higher than other providers. BTW if you think you have it bad with your current pick of phones in Europe then what would you say about the U.S where phones like "my touch" from t-mobile are considered great phones, leaving the few phone savy (like myself) to buy phone from the Euro or Asia (those few that would work anyway)

  • is there any cellphone out there that has a am radio station? its always fm station are only available in all brands. i like to have a am radio station. i like to hear more on news. guys all brands of cellphone pls invent this, to be unique to others. this is one thing to add your marketing strategies

  • mobilemaster is a fag

  • I am really impressed with the phones features and the ways it takes pictures ,i am a SE fan actually coz it takes great pictures and has walkman...just wondering.! Does this phone have a theme downloading site? or can i download just any theme ..like other phone themes? Also, can i download music? and does it work outside of japan>? i live in hongkong! pla replay anyone ..thanx.

  • do we have this phone in southn africa or it available in abroad? i also need one it an awsome phone

  • Thanx for answering my question. I'm so sad they probably won't release Japanese style phones though. I really has my hopes up for it.

  • Hi, this question is a little bit hard, but I think Sharp will make European style phones, because I read on a site Japan can't enter with their designs here so easily. Sharp wanted to enter this year with smartphones, but this recession.

  • I hope so, i love sharp phones and have done since i got a gx20 right thru to the 930sh Id buy sharp phones everytime, there screens and camera quality was light years ahead nokia!!

  • @Mobilemaster I have a question about Sharp's plans to release smartphones in Europe. Do you know if Sharp plan to release high-end clamshell smartphones like in Japan and China, or tablet phones like the iPhone and Motorola Droid ect? I really hope they release a European version of SH-01B (traditional clamshell with a 3'4 inch touchscreen that sviwels 360 degrees) but for now we can only dream I guess. It would be a nightmare if they only released iPhone touchscreen clones to Europe, I really like Japanese clamshell smartphones and I'm sure I'm not the only European who feel that way. I'm crossing my fingers for a high-end clamshell for Europe :)

  • Bro, I said they will enter on the European markets, and I am NOT speculating! On the X10 forum you wrote a comment almost hurted me bro. :(

  • i live in the middle east but i am from Europe , so i will never have this phone in this area ,, i wish that sharp will change their policies and sell it in the middle wast also

  • You said you live on America right? And I said Sharp will enter first on Europe with smartphones, Sharp said they will enter this year, but this recession stopped their plan, and they will enter next year to Europe. :)

  • I think I forget to tell you this phone won't be available outside of Asia! If you want Sharp phones to be on sale on America, you have to wait since they will enter in global markets. I said Sharp will come to Europe with smartphones, but they will enter on America too, but later(I don't know exactly when). Panasonic and Nec will enter too, and probably Fujitsu too!

  • Hi Arak! Sharp will enter first on Europe. Where do you live, can you tell me plz? Sharp said they will enter first on Europe, coz they had some phones here, in America not really. Panasonic will enter too on global markets, but I don't know where they will enter first.

  • This is not fair , why only in Europe ? I want this sharp phone and i hope it will be globalized soon . i hope sharp will bring more new models at least some candybars with the same specifications

  • I wanted to reply you last week, don't be sad, Sharp said they will enter in global markets(first in Europe) with smartphones! If you live in Europe like me, you can be HAPPY! I have more GOOD news to you, Panasonic said they will enter too in Europe with Android phones!!! I have another great news for you bro, Nec will reenter in the European markets! :)

  • makes me sad rare phone to get, i remember sharp Mobile in UK was easy to get once just pop in to the vodafone shop and get one on contract. sad really sad great phone once

  • Yes bro, I will say this, because the people needs better phones, eg Fujitsu has many fingerprint sensor phones, the first was announced on 2005 May!!! Sharp has waterproof solar phones, and phones with GREAT camera!!!

  • when sharp be on the market with great phones , please announce it not only here but also in samsung and se forums so some people can wake up and see the truth

  • Yes, February will be an interesting month, we will see what will do SE. If you are interested on Sharp phones, don't be sad even for a minute, because Sharp will enter in the global markets, with Panasonic and Nec too. Look Toshiba is already in the European markets, now the other big companies will enter too. Maybe at MWC Sharp will announce an 1GHZ CPU 3.5 inch smartphone(with Symbian, coz Sharp use Symbian on Ntt Docomo)with 10 MP CCD camera. We can't say this can't happen, coz Sharp promised they will announce this year a smartphone for Europe. :)

  • just like you i am also start to be interseted on sharp phones , specially this one , , se is my love but 2010 feb would bee the decissive day for se to live or to die , , the new manager has only 4 months in his hand to turn things to positive , and barcelona 2010 feb will be the answer

  • Yes it is not available worldwive, visit unlocklinks.com, to see their Japanese phones, or visit echigoya-honpo site.

  • i am a gret fan of se , i own personaly over 25 se phones all are in good working condition , , i maintain them all and keep the charge full . i use them all regularly , i am intending to purchase the satio , aino . tell me where can i purchase this sharp phone ? it seems that it not available worldwide , by the way 25 years ago i bought my 1st sharp cassette player and it was the first one to have a graphic equilizer on it

  • how can i get this pnone if i live in north america???

  • Yes bro, Sharp make a lot of things, they are the best in camera phones, in TV's they are good, they have a 3 meters TV, so Sharp is AWESOME! It seems you know me, I am a SE fan too, I have many comments on the Satio, and on the X2, I saw you there a few monts ago. :)

  • i am happy for your deep involvement in this site , and I agree with you for Sharp innovations ,, dont forget that Sharp is one of the leaders in photovoltaic cells , they are building the biggest solar powered power station , and they are the leaders in solar cells , and they have a massive factory for LCD panels

  • And your phone make very good photos, almost like the SE K850 or the N82 right? I HOPE they will enter in the European markets, Sharp promised this, so... maybe NTT Docomo will enter in the European markets! Who knows! ;)

  • Yes, I'm really impressed by the CCD sensor on Sharp's mobile phones. That's why I'm still using my 903, accepting the nowadays "not up to date" features like the weight (140gr) and the cam resolution (3.2MP)...

  • I hope they will enter in the European markets with smartphones, like I said it before. I read about this a few monts ago, so I hope those infos are true.

  • WX-T931 (931SH) and WX-T932 (932SH) are just around the corner! Really exciting news!

  • I talked with that guy, he said the Tg01 is weak, I don't think so. :)

  • My friend has one and it is a GREAT phone. Amazing Camera and amazing looks. I'm getting the T923 on Monday if all goes well :)

  • You bought one? How do you know is a failure, that phone is very good, only problem is the battery.

  • TG01 sucks, read reviews yourself. It's a failure, just like HD-DVD was.

  • Yes , all the japanese phones have this "feature" , i don't know the exact purpose of it , but all of theam has is .

  • Heyyy guys, does this phone has the "click" sound when you close and open the phone?

  • Maybe you are right, by the way Sharp is the best, the can make what Nokia can't, so Japan is the best! Next year we will see great phones here in Europe, I mean smartphones, well not clamshell ones, but I am not care if is clamshell or HTC style phone, to be Japanese, this is the most important for me. :)

  • Yeah, I sometimes respond from home or from work. In any case, SHARP is not aiming at beating Nokia or Apple I can tell you that. They will aim at a different segment of the market. People know SHARP for their LCD TV's in Europe, SHARP needs to target that segment of the market - and that's not the geeks. So I believe that the devices will be smart and Touch driven. Hopefully there will be some sort of segmentation like they do with Docomo - Smart, Style and Pro series would be nice. We'll see.

  • Oh sorry, you have more computers right?

  • You are more computers right?

  • I red the infos, but I am not care what happen on Asia, because I don't live there, I live in Europe, and I hope Sharp will beat Samsung and Nokia with some really high-end devices!!! Japan is the best!!! Actually Sharp makes the first camera phone, and they made the first coloured screen phones, sorry 4 my english. Also in Japan was announced the world's first digital TV phone, and the world's first waterproof phone!!!!

  • Apparently China is getting it's first 3G version "the Aquos" soon. Google "China 3G the Aquos" to find out more.

  • Yes, maybe they prepared big surprizes for us. Japan is the BEST!!!

  • Oww, don't be sad :D Toshiba have already re-entered the market in Europe with their TG01, and that device is backed by NTT Docomo. But as you can see, it's a touch device, but one of the best in it's class. SHARP will most likely do something similar. I love clam-shell's too, so I wouldn't mind just ONE model that is flip. Let's wait and see, maybe they'll surprise us!

  • I am sad because of this, I want to see great Japanese phones in Europe too. If the design is not clamshell, this is not a problem.

  • When the article talked about "Galapagos" it was referring to the Japanese Market as "too evolved and advanced" for this world. This means that it's products are too specifically tailored to only suit the Japanese environment and that these phones will not sell overseas. You have to think globally. Many of us who love these phones are a VERY small minority. You have to think about all the iPhone type people that don't care about hardware as such. SHARP may produce smart-phones, but in my opinion they will be HTC like devices. Powerful and smart, but without the bells and whistles of the Japanese phones. I highly doubt that flip-phones will be re-introduced, unless low-end GX-33 type devices. By T930 I was referring to the 3G Taiwanese WX-T930 version, not Toshiba.

  • That T930 device is made by Toshiba?

  • But if you rad all the news, there you can see that the chief said is not too late for them to make phones globally. So we will see...

  • The article confirms to me that Japan will not be releasing anything like their japanese phones in Europe. If you're a clamshell lover like me, the best option is to buy a T930 or T923 from Taiwan and keep it for the next 3 years.

  • You saw the site I wrote? If you not, plz visit that site.

  • Well that leaves no other option to sharp but to propose phones with high features, in order to be chosen by carriers to sell them, hehe.

  • Well, they are only doing this because sales in Japan have dropped. They don't really care much about Europe because our requirements for mobiles are much more simplistic that that of the Japanese. Japan and Europe are two completely separate systems. In Japan, the operators (Softbank, DoCoMo, KDDI..) decide what the handsets should do, look like, etc. In Europe it's the other way around. Whoever comes up with the best mobile will be the one to sell it to as many carriers as possible. SHARP have no direction in Europe, except for Vodafone who would direct them to produce cheap phones rather than high-end. It's tough!

  • Sharp will announce phones for Europe this year, they sad this, so I believe the info. Sharp want to be present in Europe too, not just in Asia.

  • It seems I'm not allowed to post links, but just Google "SH-Mobile G4" and you'll find many articles on it!

  • Really? PLZ tell me the source I want to see this great news!

  • Well, apparently SHARP and a few others are all putting forces together to create a "SH-Mobile G4" for 2010 which is meant to be as advanced as the DoCoMo platforms. So, I guess we won't be seeing much this year then... Will it become available on different carriers? If they want to sell 4 million they will have to!

  • I hope will be available in all mobile phone carriers, not only Vodafone.

  • Yes, that is it. :) And I can sahre withy you another link, is about Panasonic to make phones for Europe.

  • Mobilmaster, I am that user from youtube... I think I found the article. It's the one that says "Sharp, one of NECs main competitors, also intends to release smartphones in Europe its goal is to sell 4 million devices outside Japan this year.", right?? I wonder what is the source of that?!?! And I wonder to if sharp will sell again in exclusive for vodafone?? Thanks

  • Maybe you are right, I will buy one for sure when wil be avilable in Europe. I think Sharp can be successful in Europe too, we will see, I especially like Japanese phone a lot!

  • Look, they were successful with their GX Series and very unsuccessful with the SH series in Europe. Hi-tech is not anything special anymore, it is expected. Touch phones are expected in Europe and you can expect that that is what SHARP will produce. Symbian OS as such was only used for their DoCoMo phones and not the "Symbian" you would expect (nothing like Nokia). Forget 3x optical zoom, they abandoned that apprach after the 910SH didn't deliver. SHARP is unknown in Europe, and with touch-only devices on the rise will struggle to sell flip-phones when Touch is the new "flip". Trust me, I would hope the same - I owned a GX20 and GX30, 802SH, 903SH, SH905i and N905i... I love my flip-phones. But the truth is - Japan is Japan, Europe is Europe.

  • Sorry, but you are wrong, Sharp has expectations from Europe, believe me people will buy their products, imagine if Sharp will make a phone with 8MP CCD camera, 3x optical zoom, Symbian OS(Sharp has phones with this OS), Wifi, 3.3 inch WVGA screen, rotateble design, etc. Sharp has to make profit now, and they will "attack" Europe!!! Panasonic also will attack Europe with the Android phone!!!

  • Even if SHARP will be selling phones in Europe again, it won't be anything like the Japanese. Don't get your hopes up of getting flip-phones like the 903SH again... it's not the right market.

  • Sharp will make smartphones for Europe, soon!!!http://www.unwiredview.com/200...y-in-europe/

  • Sharp will make smartphones for Europe, soon!!!http://www.unwiredview.com/2009/07/07/nec-to-re-launch-phones-outside-japan-probably-in-europe/

  • with a 680 mAh battery this phone is nearly useless in HSDPA mode

  • Sharp has phones in which you can put 16Gb memory card, Sharp is not entered in European markets with good phones, but when will enter will shake the wholw world with their advanced technology, believe me!!! I heard rumours Panasonic will enter in the global markets with Android based phones, Japan want to be present in the whole world in the mobile phone category too, not just in cars, or computers.

  • Sharp seems to have the technology to build competitiv phones, but they don't know how to sell them, how to promote them,or maybe the mobile phone division is not that important for them,I think that if they really want to they can do much more.....Sharp 930 SH is an interesting device but lacks the radio and the wi-fi,also the micro sd memory of 4G shold be bigger,8 g at least, also it needs a better battery

  • You will see better phones from Sharp, they are the MOST advanced on Earth, they have phones with 10MP CCD camera, Softban has a phone with XGA screen, and 3.8 inch!!! Sharp also has phones with waterproof capabilities!!! So Sharp is the BEST, and I forget Sharp has a solar power phone, and is waterproof too!!!:)Great!!!

  • no wifi, garbage battery life...need i say more

  • 110g

  • Don't worry, Sharp will enter in the European markets, now they entered in China and Taiwan, I think they will enter next year in the European markets with high-end devices. Panasonic says they will enter with Google Android devices worldvive!!! :) GREAT!!!

  • I want this phone too! Market it worldwide! Please!!!!!!! I hope some SHARP CEO read this! It's beautiful! And the screen! And the camera! And just how much does it weigh! But, I don't know how much is it. LOL

  • this phone in japan rocks but in europe sucks

  • how is the ringtone ?? is it loud .. cause i use sharp 903 the ringtone is very small

  • This has video-call

  • people u shud all know sharp wer the first to release hight pitch poly tone such as gx20 also the best camera with advanced macro mode at its time in year 2000 they wer so advanced that they later released the first mega pixel gx30 then the first bar code scanner phone! so dnt be shocked wen sharp come back and knock off every phone on the market theyve done it once and back again with a stunning 8mp camera but this time its special cus if u notice the detail its got the biggest clam shell lcd tft screen :) congratulation to sharp cus ive had my gx20 for 8 years untill it went in the wash and its still working lol

  • Sorry bro, will be available in Taiwan and China, sorry for the mistake. I hope will be in Malasyia too great devices soon!!!

  • really it will be available in malaysia? when will that be like roughly? btw does this phone has video call?

  • Sharp will enter in the European market, and, hahahahahaaaaa,

  • I don't know this, go to a mobile phone shop! Soon you will see great phones from Sharp in Malasyia, you will see the 931 Sh model, has 3.8 XGA screen, or if you will not see that model, you will see the 932 from Softbank, that has 3,3 inch, 8 Mp CCD camera, New generation One Seg TV!!!B-) Cooooool!!!

  • Sharp is the best on Earth, has 2 phones with 10 Mp CCD camera for Ntt Docomo, and one for Softbank!!! And those phones has ASV big screens, is much better than TFT or Oled, Sharp is the best, and Sony Ericsson.

  • how do you get this phones im currenly living in malaysia and really love this phone but how and where can i get them?

  • i'm using sharp 1810c and 8010c . They are really good phones without any problems. The batterry life is ok for using camera and even music for 3,4 days.

  • Yes, Japan mobile phones are siuted for Japan only, but soon the thinkg will change, coz Sharp will enter in the European markets!!!!Sharp and Sony Ericsson 4ever!!!

  • japan phone are suited for japanese market only that's why all japanese brand phone does not do very well in other parts of the world. samsung, lg and nokia adopt that's why they are so succesfull.

  • Believe me, Japan is the most advanced in mobile phones, and not only!!! Look at the Sony TV-s, or Sharp, to see the difference. Japan is the best and Sharp is the best of mobiles!

  • yes.. sharp is great but the battery is suck. you can only take 20 photo shot b4 its out of battery, lol. and i dunt think this phone can compare with nokia phones.

  • Yes, disappeared, but not too long, I think Sharp will make phones fot the whole world to see, they are the best in the world. This is true, Sharp has a waterproof solar phone, has waterproof mobile, has XGA screen mobile phones, has big screen mobile phones, has 10 Megapixel phone with CCD senzor!!! And they can make phones with big internal memory, coz they are the best, has super UMPC!Sharp, and Sony Ericsson 4ever!

  • yes SHARP is the most advanced mobile phone on earth !

  • Looks like a worthy successor to the classic 903 (that was amazing). Good to see sharp making some decent phones again. They seem to have dissapeared from the UK market all together.

  • The internal memory of this phone is not 100 MB, is 8 GB! Plz correct this mistake Gsmarena. I like Sharp a lot, and I know is wrong! And plz don't be angry of me.

  • Are you drunked? Sharp is better than Samsung, or Sony Ericsson!!! Sharp is very good, look at the Willcom Sharp D4 model to see what I am telling you! Nokia does not have UMPC models exemple, but Sharp has! And has great, high-end models with big screen! Sharp is the most advanced on earth!

  • Sharp is the best!!! I want to see great phone in Europe too! And this phone I think has OS, has Symbian, not Java.

  • just because they don't have presence in europe doesn't mean they don't make phones .They are prominent in japan and starting to be big players in China and taiwan

  • sharp phones are only available in the Taiwan and Japanese markets.... u may find someone to ship the phone to u

  • it sounds like a failed Mobile phone, i wouldn't touch it if it was the last mobile on earth with sharp because they hardly been seen around in stores now it's probably aload of rubbish ?

  • i own it,it has gps and takes 8gb memory cards micro sd

  • China, Japan, Taiwan. eBAY it.

  • Obviously, the specifications for it is too superior in North America...

  • which country is it available?

  • Its a middle end flip phone~~~don't expect it. Plus Japanese people don't really tether their phones. their HSDPA is fast as it is.

  • No wifi!!! Why oh why!!!

  • Sorry, I was trying to be sarcastic....they are good phones. I was saying that his reason for saying the phone was bad were not valid

  • Excuse me my friend ! I didn't notice that your comment was a reply to Mohamed !! :-(((

  • It means you've checked innov8 , N86 or Idou ?!!! Who says innov8 is bad ? I can add Renoir to the list as a great product in 8MPs . First try them , then add your comment , my friend !

  • so...I guess anything with 8MP and a large screen is bad. Idou...bad, Omnia HD...bad, N86 8MP...bad, Samsung innov8...BAD that makes no sense..plus it has the highest resolution out of all the screens

  • looks nice but sharp you gotta realise you're tolate you've left it to long and some reason you ain't produced many mobiles like you did before But it looks brilliant and sexy

  • This Phone is teribale, it has got 8MP & A huge screen, it is like a PC
