Bosch 1886 is a great phone, but Siemens are poor producer, so S40 was a bad release.

when U lost your inbox and outbox, turn off phone pick up the SIM card, enter the code *#337# and ten turn it on... ATTENTION!!! U lost all sms and kontakt on phone...

I also have the sms inbox problem. I cant access my sms inbox or outbox. Now I read that one can reset the phone but does one also lose the saved sms on the phone when doing that? If one does lose the saved sms with the reset, is there a way to avoid lossing the data? For example, with a upgrade of software? In addition to that, is there any software to export the sms inbox and archive? Thanks

I've tried to reset the phone with *#337#. but It can't be done...because when I pull out my card it starts and it says Introduce card ... on the screen I've written *#337# but it doesn't do anything...what buttun should I push ??? It just won't work!

just upgrade ur software version to 9.0.0 . ask ur local siemens service center to upgrade.. its free, after Ok dont u ever left ur inbox+sent item+draft full, because I think if the buffer stag , u'll have a problem with sms and phone book, I love my s40, its exclusive. thanks

Just in case any one has any funky problems with the S40, take out the sim card, turn it on, punch in *#337#. This is the reset code. It really helped me out. Now my phone is back to normal.

My S40 just started malfunctioning and I love this phone. The prob. is that I will not be able to receive calls if I press the (middle)scroll button on top right after the phone is turned on. The S40 series is one of the best phone I ever had. It is simple to explore, and also very small to fit any pocket. The only function I have not discovered is how the minutes are displayed while talking. I thought that would have been a grater advantage.

I bought my s40 1 year ago and I had to change it 6(!!!) times. There were Software- as well as Hardware-failures! Today I got my 7th one. It has a new firmware installed (5.0.0). I'm curious if it is better than the last ones and for how long this one will work properly... I am absolutely NOT SATISFIED with the S40 although I prefer Siemens. But it isn't even a Siemens - in fact it's a Bosch Do yourself a favour - get another phone... :)

I bought this phone for my wife a few months ago. Very nice attractive design but... That's the only good thing I can say about the phone. The menu system is too complicated (I used and owned both Ericsson and Nokia and this one stinks!). The IR communications is faulty. Tech support in the US is terrible (still waiting for a response to a claim made 3 months ago...). Too expensive. Not recommended.

i am sorry to say this but for those who have problem with this phone u better have a better line as my phone works perfectly.another thing the battery life depends on the usage and also the transmission of the line. if u are in a place where the transmission rate are low, your battery life will be lower.thats all

The design of this phone is great and for the rest it sucks. Bought the phone in April. Issues: Could not get internet connection working. Could not get Palm synch working. Battery lasts 2-3 days on low usage (specs 260 hours). 3 weeks repair to fix problems with SMS. Upgraded to version 2.9.0 Again SMS not working. Phone switches off by itself. Check www.s40forum.se DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, unless you just care about the looks

I have had this phone for months. Its a great little phone but the version I have is full of bugs. I have ver 2.4.0 - to check type in *#36446337*8378# then press call. As soon as it tries to call, press end. Now in your menu you'll have a new menu called engineering - if you go in there, you can check lots of cool stuff - including the software ver. I don't know exactly how, but if you mess around in there too long, you can void your warrenty through siemens. As soon as you reboot the phone, the engineering menu goes away and its like you never entered it. I don't know the latest firmware version, but I do know ALL the bugs for ver. 2.4.0. If anybody has any more input, I would like to know.

I got this phone five days ago and it's growing on me. At first I didn't like the keys and the menus but now when I'm used to them they are OK. Design is great. I like the aluminum front and it's pretty rugged.. dropped it on the road once and nothing happened. The blue backlight looks really cool when it is dark. The features are great! I love the calendar and dictaphone functions. The calendar uses the Vcard standard which means you can sync with almost anything. User friendly: Siemens has done a lot to make this phone userfriendly. Among other things the menus change, so you can only see the ones you need. And the display has different levels of contrast to emphasize important information.. Nice :-) Software: The software stability is a known issue on this phone. It crashes a lot and behaves strangely know and then. Siemens are working on upgrades to improve on this. But it is a bit annoying.. All in all I like the phone. But there are a few annoying things about it.

Ok I've got this phone for close to 3 weeks now. If you're living in the States, I would not recommend you to buy it till it's officially out! It's a pain in the ass to search for the accessories, and when I finally got them, I immediately regretted. 1)The carkit comfort plus doesn't come with the mounting plate, it's sold separately, meaning you've to drill a hole in your dashboard to get it installed. The least they could have done was include this info on their website! 2) The earpiece goes through the bottom of the phone, the same jack used for charging. I haven't gotten the car charger yet (this is different from the car kit), but if Siemens has no better sense than to make them use the same jack, I've to salute their design team for their stupidity 'coz it'll make your earpiece totally useless when you're charging it in the car. 3) The battery life only lasts 1 day max on standby mode and with very light usage! This is a complete rip off, a far cry from the 170 hrs or so they've promised. 4) As I've stated, if you live in the States, wait for this to get released and get it from an authorized dealer, there's no one to turn to when you need tech support and this is a major turn off.
