Siemens SL10 - User Reviews

  • Are there chargers still available

  • Are there chargers still available

  • I have one, but no charger

  • Cool because the fact it is the first slider phone but all the rest is crap 3.1 Stars

  • Where can I get this phone?

  • averhielle - not only it's one of the very first slider phones out there, but it's also the first phone to use three color (not real full-color, though) LCD display. Siemens engineers went for interesting approach - combining three colour STN LCD layers (dark blue, red, green) into one display panel allowed phone interface to show notifications and interface elements in different colours.

  • Well, good luck, mate. I was looking for replacement battery, in vain. Siemens is not producing them any longer and knock-offs are not compatible. Device is a bit sophisticated, before it accepts it, it measures impedancy. If not within parameters, no go. Anyway, if you find it, please, let us know where. Regards.

  • the first slide phone!

  • I just bought this rare retro phone in Ebay auction. I'll find compatible replacement battery to be replaced, because, of course, original one holds 15minutes, but aside that it's stll in perfect condition. I must say I admire three-colour screen - manufacturer also uses dithering techics to make it look like it has more colors. Of course, at the time of launch (1999), there was no compact pure white LEDs availavble, so screen have strange greenish backlight. Slider formfactor - radical innovation at the time, and, if i'm not mistaken, this was first phone to implement it - still works. And overall design of this phone is amazing - i'm tired of all flat and similar phones novadays (I understand that phones are designed around large touchscreens, and there is little room for imagination, but still..). SL10 have full function phonebook with multiple numbers for each name, VIP phonebook with different call tone and red incoming call background. No EMS though. So - overall this is amazing phone for it's time - innovative breakthrough - first slider, one of two first phones to use three-color LCD, one of first phones with IrDa PC sync, very good design, sharging cradle as standart.

  • This phone was by far my favorite for years. It looked really good, and it worked very well. It was pretty much the most advanced phone you could get at the time. The sliding mechaniam was a new thing, and the screen was nice and clear, and it had a color screen which is what made me get it. But I will now stick with my iPhone, can't complain as it is a good phone!

  • this was an ufo for it's time the best tel for 2000 even after 10 years is a good looking tel but out of date

  • ;sighs;, another one stuck in the past, future and present phones are lightyears ahead of this piece of ancient tech. Move on buddy, times change and you need to adapt. Having said that, for a phone that's 10 years old this would have seemed uber back then and much more advanced than anything else with the exception of the communicator. The SL45/i, SL55, S45 and SX1s were the last great Siemens phones. The German prowess has disappeared. Normally German makes of anything are usually more advanced technologically of any other nation bar Japan, especially their cars, a pity then that Siemens stopped making cellphones.

  • OMG this phone was such a advanced phone of the time, by the time i had this phone I must have gone through a number of phones such as the nokia's and the motorola's. This was good. I remember selling it to some guy in college saying it was one of the most advanced colour phones around and sold it for a large sum.

  • Dont think so, I remember this phone very well :-) Even 3 years after it was introduced it cost 1500$ in Germany when i was studying in Koln.

  • This was the first phone that i ever had and i rmemeber taking it into school and all my friend where very jelous becuase it was the best one of its time,It was amazing!!!!! ooo how i miss it, unfortunatly i broke it due to water damage :( Still using sliding phones today.

  • This phone is legendary! It is the FIRST SLIDER PHONE EVER!! Too bad only few people know about this. Plus, it has color screen which was advanced compared to other competitors like Nokia and Motorola, who at that time still used monochrome screen (traditional green background with black pixel text)

  • its ten siemens design phenomenom,SL10,SX1,SL45,ME45,M35,SL55,ST60,M55,S55,ME75

  • I had this phone when it first come out in 99 and loved it. Is it not possible to bring out the same looking phone but with what the today's phone's have. So i say bring back yesterday today

  • I have one, really simple to work, but shame the display external glass is weak, and with one fall, it broke... :'( (my d*mn dog let if fall from me) For its lauch time, it was the best!

  • I owned this phone about 7 years ago now. Truly great phone. Way ahead of its time, the active slide and colour screen. It was a very cool fashion accessory. Would love one again.

  • hello, i have a siemens sl10 but its battery is dead i need a new battery but i couldnt find it here in india, please kindly advice from where i can get the battery. thanking you, with regds, prasun

  • Great phone but I'm having trouble with the aerial connection. Anyone got any info on spares/fixing. It doesn't seem to sit in right resulting in "Network Search" half the time. Anyone any info? DR

  • I've had one of these ' golden oldies ' for some time now. IT was very much ahead of it's time. The design, however, is still very eyecatching and attracts favourable comments from others, as does the colour screen! It's only real shortcomings, is it's lack of vibrating alert and a lamentably short standby time of 40 hours. This means you have to keep a close eye on the battery indicator! However,it's an able performer, with a great set of ringtones. It sometimes crops up on the U.K.'s secondhand market, in it's Vodaphone version, the SL10D. It's worth considering as an example of a rather, unique and stylish phone.

  • Siemens SL10/SL10d is still the best designed phone till this date. Its user friendly controls, excellent touch sensitive keys which remain hidden thanks to the proslide system and large screen were way ahead of their time. Unfortunately Siemens launched this amazingly designed phone way ahead of the time. The technology of that time could not match is designing. Had this phone been launched today it could have easily become the best phone in the histroy of mobile phones. An improved display like the one in Siemens SL45, predictive text and a "usable" IR port would have skyrocketed the phones sales. Even an MP3 player could have been easily been included in the phone. In short if siemens had relaunched SL10d with the same body design and concept but SL45/SL45i features and amber display, this black beauty could have distroyed the most of the other GSM mobiles. • Vreau sa cumpar un SL10.Are cineva de vanzare?(ma puteti contacta la 092480647)

  • What the hell are you people raving about this phone , its old and out dated, start liking the sl45i its the future of mobile phones !!!

  • This phone is the greatest!! you just cant beat it, an amazing colour screen very loud ringers, desktop charger and pro-slide. what the hell have siemens done in stopping making it, you can keep your Nokia crap!! give me this anyday.

  • A truly grest phone, I had one and I loved it to bits!! If anyone knows where I can buy another please E-mail me. This phone is so easy to use and the pro-slide is so handy.

  • It's a good phone but one finds it difficult in getting the accessories.Iam using the SL10 and i need to get a new anntena but as at now i haven't gotten one yet.How can you help me out.do you know of any place i can get one? Well i am in West Africa,Ghana so if anything i'll have to send you the money so that you post it to me. Thank You.Hoping to hear from you real soon.

  • Very nice phone. Unusual design that makes it even more beatiful. And I just love those colorful displays... (and I think - that they are the ones that drain the battery so much)

  • I love it, it's different from most cellphone in the market, the design was perfect, but lack of supporting product and spare part make them extinct

  • Does anyone know where I can get an in-car charger? does it support handsfree? can I get anymore ring tones? please e-mail me, thank-you.......

  • Top Phone. Very Reliable and light. Colour screen gives 100%. Bad point - discontinued and rare.

  • the siemens sl10 is one of the best looking phones i have ever seen and the most exclusive.

  • Please Help!!!!!!!! How can I erase the missed calls from my SL10? Thanks Magda

  • can you send me more information about the price? and where can i have it? thank you very much!

  • I like it very much but i have a problem with battery : my battery performance is half that it's supose to be - 20 h in stand by and 1 h talk time

  • The battery life is VERY short. It seems it is designed to stay all the day on it's desktop charger :) And why is that color display?
