is this one better than the Cedar ? I like ericsson phones because I had k500i and he still work after 10 years !!! Ofcourse the battery is ruined.But the phone felt on the street 300times ,I even throw him from 3meters,hit em also on purpose against the wall but NOTHING STOPPED HIM ! HE'S LIKE A TERMINATOR. Their displays are not the best but they are GREAT!

i had this phone for about a year and a half, it's true that not using the pc suite affects its software making it restart randomly, the battery if formated correctly will last 3 to 4 days, it's reliable i even dropped mine in water then dried it and it was fine just that the mic was less sensitive and had to use the handsfree all the time....

It's design not cool. But it's features still better now. It's true, it's loud spk sound is not good bt it's headset sound is better then some kind of nokia's this categories set. It's camera quality ofcourse better then nokia. And it's vedio quality and video's sound quality is awsome and almost nokia 'N' series. It's stand by time 3days. Music playback time 14hours. Video play back time 6h. It's support flash theme 4.6 version. And support any kind of java,jar, 3d 176*220size game.(all hints r checkd)

I have this phone for almost 2 years. Very good and fast. but avoid using USB mass storage because it will make ur phone restart randomly. Install a sony errcison PC suite and transfer data through that. I droped it like a 100 times and still works perfectly fine. The case is very resistent no scratches.

The Sony Ericsson V640i is a very good phone in certain fields. Music is a good part of the phone but it drains the battery somewhat else. When I got this phone i wasdpleased at the volume of the ringing and media player but it has been very slow to start up and has a maximum battery period of 3 days (in my experience) overall it isn't that bad a phone but could do with some inproving

I have had this phone for about a year now, and have dropped it several times......given it rough treatment....not intentionally of course....but the phone still goes perfectly, never needed any form of repair. battery life isn't the best, but I don't really care about that anyway....I can charge it anywhere, car, home, computer. Great phone!

Had this phone for about 2/3 months now and I think it is a great phone for the price I paid for it. Bought this phone from littlewoods in early March for just over �50. It has excellent features for that price: Bluetooth with A2DP, 2 cameras, MP3/Music player, M2 memory card slot(comes with 256mb free) and also HSDPA. This must be the cheapest phone to come with HSDPA, and it works greatly. The downsides to this phone are the battery life, and the fact that it is slightly chunky. But apart from these 2, it is a brilliant phone.

My phone is not charging with wall charger again, [tho it charges thru the usb cable in phone mode]. Tried 'reset settings' once which worked. The next time it didnt so I tried master reset. No luck. 11 months old so lucky its still under warranty. Good phone otherwise. Next phone I get will have a separate charging port as the handsfree keeps popping out now

Yeah the volume buttons on the side can be used 2 fast fwrd and rewind as well, depending on how long you press them.

I have this phone in a black case for over 1 year and works great. i charge my battery once in a week, the videos and photos are cool, and sound aswell. but not everybody has the same luck :(

The worst ever made by S E, I myself regret chosing it since I am a fan of S E and still is admiring lots of model, the issue is that Vodafone in Egypt is managed by people throwing everything to their clientele, I had to redeem points so I have chosen two phones of this model against my points, the phone can not even forward sms easily, it is oftenly stucked in the Outbox and can stay there for days trying to send it while this is against really S E Reputation since it is well known for their efficiency and their excellent performance. I wonder how S E did manufacture this phone it is a real disaster

yeah It's a great phone but still it's sometimes complicated how to get some where for an example when you want to change the music volume there aren't any two buttons on the side of the phone for volume you need to go to your settings and adjust that. Then if you are more for the simple and cool phones buy yourslef a Nokia, for an example Nokia 6120c It's a pretty cheap phone and It's great too!

It's great phone, I had also a V630 and now I have V640. Both are great phones, because they are not expensive and you get almost everything. V630 & V640 are very similar so you won't mistake by taking the older one.

I've started using Ericssons when the first models were released. Those were almost like bricks you could talk to people with. The brand has more or less stuck with me and i've been very happy with the phones of this brand. Now my better half has this model. I've gotten the newer G502 and i can make a slight comparison. While both are great, G502 has a slightly better screen resolution, finer text and longer standby time. This model, V640 is also cool to have - unless you don't want to constantly connect to internet; the right softkey is hardwired to internet connection and you can't change the shortcut. That's the only major weakness of the phone. If any of the makers read this, you might consider a better softkey adaptibility; not all want to surf the internet and most of us like to have customised shortcuts. I was lucky, G502 has a different softkey configuration and just accesses the phonebook menu. Overall, V640 is a solid, good and reliable product.

It is a great phone. It's cheap, it has many features, including track ID which is super!! In just a few seconds he can tell u the artist, the song and the album u are listening from radio TV or any other source. I also have K810i and yes it is a better phone but V640 is very smart and very cheap. And about Nokia - I've seen a review which - He said that Sony sucks, well then please try to remove the battery from a Sony Ericsson in order to switch the sim card, and try the same thing with a Nokia and u'll see that the phone resets each time u remove the battery! The Sony E - Doesn't! Also try to back up all u-re contacts from you're phone on you're card (for instance wen u go to a service they tell u if u have a back up for the contact book, what can u do?) - If u ave a Nokia, u need to install the phone software connect it with a PC back up contact book then go back to service - With Sony all u need to do is Go to Advance features on Contact Book Back UP to MS and in a few seconds the problem is solved. Not mentioning the fact that usually Nokia is more expensive on their equivalent from Sony.

I have this phone. Have had it for just over 4 months now and it's absolutely fantastic!. Love everything 'bout this phone. Sound is superb through the speakers which are included in the box. Also sounds good through the earphones and without speakers or headphones attatched. Only thing I don't like is the fact you can't delete the pre-set demo games but, that's not important as it can take a big memory card. I love the colour of it (I have it in Havana Gold) and I love the shape of it, It can stand on it's own on a flat surface due to it's curvy top and bottom. It has a nice finish to it as well with it's smooth top and a bit of a velvety feel for its bottom half at the back but, that's probably so it don't slip out of your hand very easily which, is great. I've had around 21 phones within 8 years and I intend to have this phone for a very long time unless something happens or goes wrong with it. I also got it unlocked at the weekend so I can go with another network and still have the same phone. This phone has everything I want including FM Radio,Bluetooth, 3G, MP3 player and memory card slot. I give this phone top marks. Well Done Sony Ericsson!

i recently bought this phone, and since now i have no complains. true, is an entry-level phone, with cheap plastic case and a low resolution screen but it has a great battery-the same as k800i at lower consumption-the sound could be compared with an se "w", and is quick enough, like every SE phones. this phone came with an m2 card, data cable and earphones, all original se. if you don't like this phone i reccomand you an k850i or a w880i

I originally posted a comment saying it didnt have Daylight Saving mode. I was wrong. You can set it to your country/city and it should automatically update. No sleep mode clock and no message icon visible in sleep mode is a hassle. The equalizer and sounds are OK tho. Calendar/reminder settings are good and so too the multiple alarm settings.

I couldnt find a sleep mode clock anywhere but you will see the clock and normal screen when you press a button while in sleep mode and key lock on. In the same situation if you press the volume key then you will see the clock only; similar to the usual sleep mode clock. Still a hassle tho.

Under 'General' there used to be a Sleep Mode Clock, as in the v630. Where did that go??? Is there a screensaver with a clock? If I bring the phone out of it's sleep state, by pressing one button, and the keyboard lock is on, will I at least be able to see the clock/time ?

I have this phone for 4 months and I'm very disappointed. only a few days after i bought it the microphone spoiled. i took it to vodafone and they told me that it was from mistreatment. since then i can speak only with the hands-free. the camera quality is very bad. the RAM is very small too, when I listen to music, it gets very slow, i have to wait 5 seconds to start an SMS. The volume is very low, in a crowded place i cannot hear my hands-free. its not a good phone, dont buy it.

It's not the battery its the cheap charging port maybe. If you use a se too much with earphones, charger, computer. Then the port gets loose. Very common problem.

Really Really Bad quality of plastics and paints.The keyboard buttons made bubbles and started to peel off after 1 week. I found a "fingerprint" from the phone bag's fabric on the back side As about operation and stability, it is OK.

Smooth and slim. The Savannah Gold is luscious. Speakers come with it too. Slightly different soft key layout and no 'back' button like the earlier Sony Ericssons. Sound on the music player is very good. Not as loud as the W810i but this shouldn't put you off buying it. New page layout on the music player pages too. Radio is good. Internet is great and even better in a 3G signal area. Screen size could be bigger. Camera is sufficient. Video camera very mediocre but then this is a phone not a camcorder. No Quadra-Pop game (shame about that) and full of 60 second trial demo games... Come on, give us at least one full length game. Very reminiscent of the T610 and 110% better. Great phone. Buy it...

As per other comments, the phone has either a battery or a software problem as it keeps switching itself off. Had two replacements already, both were re-conditioned, not new, replacements (only had the original just before Christmas), resulting in several weeks without a phone but still having to pay my Vodafone subscription...... seems to me that there�s something fundamentally wrong here.

Upgraded to this phone (theres a laugh). Had to send the first one back because it couldnt hold a charge and kept switching itself on and off all day. Had the replacement for about 6 months now and hey presto it has started to do the same. I dont know if its a battery or software issue, I have rang Vodafone who didnt know either but i have been told to take it back for repair. Now going to be without a phone until they decide its u/s and send me something else, preferably a different phone.
