I had that same problem too, but when I had my phone repaired for water damage (under warranty) I noticed that the technician upgraded the software, and the phone stopped making those 16 MB dump files, plus navigating the camera album became faster too, and I can now download large files like mp3's. But I doubt the software update is still available, because it's already 2016, and SE phases those old model software updates.

Never ever buy this cell even if someones pays you to! The only thing good about this phone is it's speakers. Everything else sucks! Camera is ok-ok, but features are very poor. Poor organizer, you can't minmize games and applications. And no app larger than 1mb will work. Cell works too slow when you upgrade to 4gb memory card, plus low internal memory. And once this cell falls down, out of every 10 times 9 times the display will be gone. So you have to be extremely careful. I am very disappointed with Sony Ericsson after using this phone

yeah... same problem with me.... i hav used this for two years.... its a very very good lookin model n excellent speakers.... but it lags in many other qualities.... it cant store more than 100 SMS n no other space available to store them.... when sending an SMS... especially to a group... 99% possibility is it hangs... screen goes blank... half of battery gets down .... sony provides no pc suite...neither CD nor from site download.... as if this phone doesnt belong to their company..... this could have been the excellent phone in economic range... but looks like sony doesn't care anymore....

Had this phone and it lasted for just over a year before it started switching it self off at random intervals. Screen quality and resolution was terrible, case felt very light, cheap and plastic and predictive text was crushingly slow. Had a few Sony Ericsson phones before that were very high quality, perhaps this one is just the black sheep of the family? Avoid.

Dude, Manually create d settings. D fone already has preloaded settings for idea, aircel, airtel. I hav manually creatd d settings for vodafone. Creating it is child's play. Just set 3basic things like homepage, APN etc n u will b able to access internet.

It will support... U can smoothly play .jar games upto size 1.3Mb. Now i guess, ur fone is installing a game, but whn u open it, it mi8 b showing error n app closes. If u face such a problm then, 1st of all take a backup of ur fone-like reminders, contacts etc. N format ur fone memory. Switch off ur fone. Wait a while n switch on The OS reloads. Wait until it gets installd. N now try to install a .jar file game. Hope it helps.

Hi throwa, It seems u hav problem with your camera. If you r clicking pictures, then do check its settings. May b u hav selectd on sepia, fluorescent, solar, blak n white image colour options by mistake. If u encounter such a thing then change it. If such a thing is happening while shooting video, then i guess then the fone has got some internal faults because u dont hav much option in video recording. Go in to the authorised Sony Ericsson service center. Probably the software might have been corrupted or the camera sensor might have got some problem. Well, some people think that dis fone is a crap. I just agree to it. But when i turn on the WALKMAN PLAYER, i just forget evrythng! I hav several issues with my fone. I hav used it very roughly that it has scratches etc n looks rubbish. Yet i love this fone. A music fone 4 lifetime. Ok. Let me solve some general issues. *does it support themes? .yes, some softwares of this model support it. But not all. My fone supportd it until i went 4 a change in software *screen freezing/whitening .Go 4 a change in software. May b the flex has got damagd. Keep ur M2 memory card virus free. *camera .Camera is ok. Gives good results in sufficient light. Zoom is only possible while capturing pics in VGA resolution. If u hav any problm on dis fone then contact me at [email protected]. I have this phone. Its only good for its sound quality. its very slow and the slider jams sometimes when opening or closing. After 1 yr its screen got slightly whitened in the upper corner, may be due to the reduction of liquid in the screen. Camera is OK. Not too good.. So buy it only if u r a music freak..

Ya even i do accept dat the predessors of w395 were better in bass!! Ya even i had THE GENUINE WALKMAN EXPERIENCE on w700 and on w810i. But i must admit that the stereophonic effect is better and distinct in the w395. Though the walkman fones of today are not that powerful in bass as the older WALKMAN fones used to be, yet i can sure evry1 that u can listen music in it for hours without any pain in the years. And comparing the WALKMAN with any other mobile brand, i challenge that there is no doubt that the WALKMAN still rocks and rules! Other brand's music fones hav a long way to go in terms of music. WALMAN is truly in the zenith of mobile music. Jai ho Sony Ericsson WALKMAN!

Sorry, but if you've had the chance to use other walkman phones in the past, they would qualify as "genuine walkman experiences"...not this one. My old k800i is even better in audio and functionality than the w395. i know it's a mid priced phone, but so was the w200, but that was by far BETTER than the w395. As far as walkman phones go, the best was the first w800. it's so powerful that i can even use dj quality headphones on this one. the last best was the walkman 550 and 880i. the w395 doesn't hold a candle, much less and lighted match stick to its more powerful predecessors...

If the box reads "genuine walkman experience", it should live to its claim. Unfortunately, it does not, on audio quality alone. I'm not expecting in terms of interfaces or functionality, but since it carries, the walkman trademark, it should pack a good sound. on the latter account alone, i'd go for my old k800i. It's not primarily a music phone, but it can't beat any of the present day walkmans. Sony and Ericsson should be about raising bars, just as before, but it seems that they're doing the opposite. Sorry...my next phone won't from them.

Ya u may consider nokia 5130 as d winner for its gud battery backup. But in terms of a complete muzic fone package, its d WALKMAN! I know its battery backup is not as that of the 5130, but it has superb,awesome,mindblowing music as compared to any other phone belonging to nokia (including the X2)! Though X2 has stereo speakers yet its clarity,quality and most importantly, the stereophonic effect on its stereo speakers of W395 is better than that of the dual speakers of X2! REMEMBER-Im talking about the entire music package of the fone. And W395 Is d clear winner when compared to X2 or the 5130 (in terms of a complete MUSIC PACKAGE)

I have this phone for over a year. I find it great. Advantages: Good battery. Loud speakers. It is strong and endures. Someone said you cant install themes-its a lie, you can. Nice menu. Disadvantages: Small sms memory, you ll have to delete all messages every week or so. Although it takes good pictures, they dont appear good on the phone's screen. No flash- if there isnt strong light, the photos are totally bad. Very very very bad video quality. Very few preinstalled games. Summary: If you want a mobile that does its job, will last long, and is good for music, W395 is the one. Just dont rely on it for games, photos or video.

So, As per d promises, its USP is crystal clear muzic on headphones n also on stereo speakers wid stereophonic effect! Great looks,awesome music,good camera in light,good gaming. But, Worst software,bad battery backup,fone hangs-up,sloppy internet which makes d fone feel like ignoring. Anyways-its a superb muzic fone. Sony Ericsson thumps!! I have all network bars showing yet phone shows no network, or emerg. calls only, if I get the vodafon signal it disapears again before I can do anything. Why? It also goes to standby in seconds, again before I can read, or do anything, even when I'm putting in a number or trying to text. Why? The music is not distorted even at full volume. And yes, it can play music whose bit rate is 128kbps and over. I have some songs at 320 and 256 kbps. It's playing fine enough.

You cannot save messages in memory card. Messages are saved in the phone and I think around 100 messages. It depends on the size of each message.

it may look nice and yes, the sound quality is good. but other functions wasn't good. it stores only few sms and also the camera wasn't that good. i am using it for a year now and it was already repaired twice first because of the LCD and next the ribbon. i sold it already coz its a mess. if you have other choice, just don't consider this.

I've been using this phone for the last 8 months. And despite its shortcomings, it's a beauty. I bought it purely for Music and I'm not disappointed. If you are looking for themes or extremly good camera it is not so good. And yes, it hangs sometimes - just free up the phone memory and frequency of hanging will be minimum. The dual speakers are awesome !!! I've also mentioned that for this price, it's not a bad choice. You'll not be able to find any other phone which has better speakers than this. Some people are opining that it's a China phone(made by SAGEM). They need to remember - 1. This is merely a speculation-no solid evidence! 2. In Asia, regardless of the brand, all phones are 'Made In China'. Nokia will not bring you phones from Finland if you are in Delhi/Karachi/Dhaka. 3. If SE has decided to name it as Sony Ericsson W395, then they have reasons behind this and it is a SE phone. Battery back up is reasonable enough. Takes 2 hours to get charged and stays for 2 days if used used moderately. The 2 MP camera is reasonably good enough though not suitable for night shooting. You can zoom in VGA mode. Signal and FM reception is also good. Net surfing is not that good. 3G would've done better. The price has become less drastically over the last 1 year. If you are looking for a good phone, buy it! It's far better than Nokia 5130 in terms of music. One fine morning if SE decides to pull it out from the market, then you might have to repent like many others did for Nokia 6233.

I bought it because I had a previous model of sony ericsson and backed up all my contacts on my memory stick, when i tried to restore my contacts to this phone... i was really dissapointed!! I can receive contacts via blue-tooth, but only one at a time!! VERY disappointing! :(

I think the phone would be really good except for.... ITS SLOW SLOW SLOW!!!!!! Can't even type a message without getting a headache, or browse through your stuff like videos without growing old!! The memory is not very good either, its annoying having to clean up the messages very often.

If u want to bash SE for the sake of Nokia or Samsung, then it's ok. But on normal scenario, it's a very good phone as far as music is concerned . Those who are saying Nokia5130 is a better music phone, go for an audibility test! It's good enough for it's price range. of course, everything has it's pros and cons. The PC connectivity is not good at all - as modem. It doesn't support Theme and it hangs some time. Still as most 'TRUE & NON-FAKE' users will agree, this is a very good phone for Music Lovers. And the 2 MP camera - view the photoes taken in natural light in PC or have a print-out and comapre them with Samsung and Nokia's, you'll get to know how 'TRUE' are the people who say Samsung and Nokia's 2MP cameras are better. Keep the phone memory free as much as you can and it will function like a dream - even if you use 4GB of memory. Buy it, you won't repent. Don't go by voting result. It's a much better phone than that. If you still have a doubt, find anyone who's using one. And anyone using a SE(any model) is a head-turner for sure !!!

Can anyone tell why I'm not able to connect it as a modem? I've tried all ts steps. Windows XP SP 2 is not at all recognizing it as phone mode though as Mass Storage Mediu, it can. I have installed SE PC Suite latest version. I have gone to Device Manager and followed the necessary steps. I've seen many other people is having this same problem too.

I have installed SE PC suite v4.0 and v6.0. Whenever I am connecting my W395 via USB(2.0) in my PC(I have Windows XP SP 2 as OS),it is not getting recognized as either phone or modem. I have tried in different USB ports, restarted the phone and pc,have selected phone mode while connecting, have reinstalled Motherboard(DG 41WV and Quad core Q8300 2.5 Ghz.) drivers.How do I connect to internet via dial-up connection using W395 as modem? Imagine being dragged naked across a fifty mile stretch of tobasco soaked shards of glass...nope, not even that compares to the horrificness of this dreadful blizzard of misery. first it all it claims to be a media phone, hmmm....theres no standard headphone jack so your forced to use SE's dreadful one which break in ten seconds, halve of the media files out there are'nt recognised, most of the supported MP3's dont work, it freezes halve way through a song, it resets the equalizer constantly so everytime you play the next song you have to go into a menu then into 6 further sub menus just to make your song sound anygood and worst of all it said that 'the beatles - please please me' was from the year 1932 and was rap...eurgh, the list continues. the camera is'nt bad but try to actually take any pictures and well, your stumped, as the measly 1gb of supllied memory will be full of failed attempts of copied songs and tons of systems files. try to delte them? you cant as it freezes everytime you open the media folder. buy a new memory stick? you can't, it freezes completely if you try use anything that did'nt come with it... ARGHH!!! Video viewing is atrocious, file navigation is impossible, compatible 3rd party software/apps are non existent, contacts are deleted everytime phoneis switched off, battery life is barely 12 hours, the so called 'scratch resistent screen is now full of scratches...the list of the bad goes on. saying that, texting is simple and effective, calling/recieving is nice enough and the UI is good looking and user friendly. but the positive ends there. I really wan'ted to like this phone, its very good looking, slim and feels nice solid in your hand but the list of problems is too much I should have to cope with seen as I spent my hard earned cah on it...sorry SE, better luck next time.

Camera is really good quite contrary to common perceptions. I have had print-outs from the phone directly (6 inch by 4 inch) and it's quite better than low-end SLR cameras. You don't want a digital camera like features from a Walkman series phone, isn't it? Sound,styling has been much talked about so no need to elaborate. Battery too isn't that much bad (believe me, I have listened in the pre-loaded walkman mode in full volume via external loud-speakers and it lasted for more than 2.5 hr.s). If you like more juice in battery, then better not buy a walkman phone with two awesome speakers ..... Nokia 1650 will be fine enough for you !

im really disappointed with this phone. it is so basic. the sound sometimes dont function well. its a music phone but it only has short recording, 30 seconds. motion game support is fake, i cant feel its motion-ness. too many message prompts with regards to internet settings and others. no zoom on images. so sorting too. no pc suite support. left and right selection key cannot be changed. no theme support. i wish i had bought nokia 5130 instead of this phone. sorry for the bad response.

Hi Amit, The answer to your question (Can i use internet through my computer with w395?) is a resounding "YES", provided you configure your phone modem properly. I'll tell you how to this for >> ANY PHONE MODEM devmgmt.msc) Under 'Advanced' tab in the phone modem properties, Enter this Initialization command : AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","" Just don't copy & paste it, See carefully, You have to first replace your internet service providers access point (GPRS APN). You can find it in your phone's GPRS configuration settings or you can ask the customer care support of your ISP or alternatively, you can download a list of popular GPRS APNs worldwide, Click to dOwnload the list . Example "airtelgprs.com" for airtlel (India) and the command will be AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","airtelgprs.com­" Note : All phone modems doesn't support all commands, but this is the one which worked on most phone modems. Once you've configured your phone modem, the only thing you have to do is to create a dial-up connection using the phone modem. This is very simple, even for newbies. Open Network connections in windows control panel and select 'create new connection' from file menu. When asked, select 'set up my connection manually'. You can give an ISP Name or you can leave it blank when asked. The most important thing while creating a dial-up connection is the dial-up phone number. First try using *99# or *99***2# (it works for most GSM based ISPs in India) and then, if it doesn't work, ask your ISP for their dial-up phone number. Hi there.. What is your opinion about these missing basic features that any phone of this price and standards must provide ?? 1. It doesnt support themes except the 5 default ones 2. It doesn't support pc suite or any such applications. It completely misses obex interface 3. No synchronisation of contacts or anything possible. I appreciate the efforts of all the review writers, but in fact none of the reviews can be said a TRUE review, so here is a true review of W395. So, You'll agree that different phones have different features and one should by the one which matches his own requirements. After comparing with many other phones within the price range, W395 is the best phone I found matching my requirements. So here are my views about W395 . FEATURES : Sound Quality => It's just awesome with the Two Streo Speakers on the phone and it's a blast with the headset, after all its a Walkman phone. Every music lover should have one. (and, and its much better than Nokia 'Xpress Music' phones within the price range.) 2.0 MP camera => Good camera quality (much-more better than Nokia & Samsung phones with 2.0 MP camera, especially in insignificant light, it's very vivid than Nokia 2.0 MP phones) however it's lacking flash light, but it can be ignored due to it's vividness in the night mode. It's auto-adjust feature just works great. Looks => Just one word... 'WOW', it's almost a slim handset even if it is a SLIDER. Deserves ***** (5 stars) for this. I think i didn't need to mention it here, probably everyone will love its looks. Java Support => Java applications (176x220) are supported on W395 and people complaining about the problems (with opera mini and all that...), Listen Dude, this phone doesn't have any problem, running any compatible java application. Those, who complains, don't know how to find the compatible and correct version; it doesn't implies that there is some problem with the phone and, in fact, MOST JAVA APPLICATIONS (176X220) WORKS ABSOLUTELY FINE ON W395. They, I mean the manufacturer, also claim MOTION GAMING on the phone, but due to some reason, it doesn't work on mine (probably because i dropped it down a few times, not sure that it ever had a motion sensor). One of the preloaded games, 'NitroStreet Racing' is a motion sensor game with 'Gesturetek' controls and many more motion sensor games are available on the internet. Music Player => It's a Walkman phone guys, The built-in Walkman Player is amazing, with one touch key on the phone-front and volume keys on the right-side. The best thing i liked in this player is the manageable queue of the songs. Video Player is also fine but i don't like watching videos on the phone, so i cannot say MUCH ;-) about video player. WEB => W395 employs OpenWave Web Browser, it's OK, but I am more used to use browsers like UC Browser; the fastest among all and it also have video streaming function, it's -> BOLT Browser Simple and friendly, classic style of Menus. FM Radio => it's OK DRAWBACKS : 3G not supported; preloaded themes only, no support for user themes; takes some time in application installation; Short keys on the numeric keypad, only suitable for people with thin fingers; lack of flashlight with camera; and... Everything Else Is Satisfactory. Mistaken Issues : Some people say their phone freezes. Well, then may be your phone is not faulty, it's either due to your style of operating the phone, or, due to the most common reason -> LOW FREE SPACE ON THE PHONE MEMORY. Yes, it's the naturally the most common reason for slowing down phones. W395 comes with 15 MB of phone memory, keep it as free as you can by storing your files on the memory card, and you'll enjoy a really fast phone. The low free space on the phone memory, as I've found so far, is the most common 'De-accelerator' for any phone manufactured by any company, So keep it free. Well, my battery seems to last for 2 days and 3 days max. When I first bought it, it had low battery, but when I asked the shop, they said I have to charge it for 1 hour for the first use, so that's what I did, did you guys do that too? External sound is really good .. it could've been at least 15-20% louder. Any one of either flash or 3G would come in handy. GPRS is not that good. Battery back-up for a dual-speaker phone like W395 also could've been better. Would like to rate it 7.5 out of 10.

Please dont buy this model. It hangs up very easily. no photo caller facility.. not much user friendly. seperate sms for delivery report. Once rejected, no idea, which sms rejected. Hi there, well the feedback here for this phone is a score 8 out of 10, i didnt overload it,,its used mainly to play songs, i like the speaker sound quality also the earphone sound quality,,camera quality is actually good in day time,,,except that the screen is small and picture looks dark,,send the same pic to pc and view,,quality is good..it takes almost 480kb to 500kb per picture on high settings,,u need to be steady still, while clicking the pics.....drawbacks -- battery standby reduces when music is played on speakers,,,and can average to just one and a half day on high usage by just playing music..overall a basic good phone with some features

This is the worst Sony Ericsson phone ever (exept for the soundquality) the procesunit is as slow as a snail, the menu sucks, most of the usual software does not excist on this phone or is a few (years) steps backward, the camera is even worser then the first camera ever made and it will not connect with any bluetooth headset except for the little cheap one that keeps falling out of your ear. This is serious a no go phone, please dont buy this phone save your money for a better one

well i bought this phone just yesterday,,,i liked it,yes i used it to play music on loud speakers for a long time, excellent speakers just like the nokia 6233 loud enough to wake u up.,,,used bluetooth to transfer music,,the phone responded just fine,,,there was a ,,point.,, split second delay i noticed ,when i loaded the phone with its memory card almost full...hence now its 80 percent used..camera was a bit blurry but certain settings to an extent gave a better picture,,,,its okay,,i bought it for music,,,the preset equalisers are good,,although its missing mega bass as in other walkman phones,,but the presets cover it up.... .battery drained from 100 percent to 78 percent,,will be using this,,,will keep this comment updated ......and let u know how its performing...so far so good...

I recently bought the SE W395 - I have downloaded some music from my computer onto it. A fewe have gone onto the Walkman - the rest have gone in a Folder in the music option - I havent been able to transfer across because it wont allow me to play music from there... I have also tried putting the list of songs into a single folder to tidy it up - but after 2 or 3 songs it says the folder is full. Its starting to really annoy me! Can someone help please?

The easiest is way that i could think of is to turn on bluetooth in your phone.....If ur PC has Windows 7 with bluetooth, then add ur phone to yr pc.....right click ur fon under devices menu....a number functions will be shown....just click connect to internet...ur pc will connect to internet using yr phone's settings @ a max speed of 236.8kbps

Nope! I have used almost all Sony Ericsson models including those latest line-ups like Satio, Vivaz, X2 ; eg. I was using my friend's W395 (DUSKY GREY) for about 2 weeks. We exchange fon s.times. He also has access to all the Sony Ericsson models. So, while using i discovered all those 'ups' and 'down' of this phone that I hv mentioned. To me regardless how powerful the phone is, it will only stand out to me maybe for longest 1 week, after that I will get bored!

Hi Kiran, if u ask me personally i would definitely recommend u 2 get it if u dun mind about the camera. The other compartments r fantastic especially the music quality & the design. The system is very user friendly. The basics are there. As i have mentioned earlier, i dunno y there 2 many complaints bout this fon. If u seriously 1 this fon, then buy it frm authorized dealers. I believe those who complain din buy frm authorized dealers & instead got it for lower prices.

Mine doesn't hang like many say, the music player is great, the design and durability is great, never had any problems with it. the camera should and could be better.But For someone who just needs a simple phone for calling texting and music it's a great choice, it all depends what you expect from a phone.

Hi there. The photo-fix built in this phone is too basic. The photo-fix alteration is done automatically. V won't be able to edit further b-cos there won't be any options available. I tried using Microsoft Office Picture Manager & the final editing satisfied me....Just give a try bt i would highly recommend u to use PC applications to edit.

Hi there. Well that condition is normal on this fon.The simplest way 2 fix that prob would be 2 use the photo fix application frm d fon. If u dun feel satisfied, then undo, transfer d pic to a pc, then use commercial software's to modify d pics. The only drawback that i found frm W395 is the camera quality. U shouldn't expect much frm the camera b-cos & it lacks auto-focus. Right nw, there are no any firmware updates 2 fix the prob, but u cn e-mail 2 s.eric's official customer service centre. If 2 many similar complaints are registered there, then they might fix the prob.

I seriously wander y many complain that their W395 hangs & suffers with many other problems. Mine is working perfectly. I wouldn't say the system is running very fast but its just nice. Maybe they wouldn't hv buy frm a authorized dealer. All in all, i'm truly satisfied with the performance of this cute slider. Its definitely worth 4 its price.

This model is a little different frm others in Sony Ericsson b-cos it runs on OpenSSL platform & other models run on S.Eric's standard platform. Certain models like F305, S302 ;eg shares similar system characteristics with W395. For those interested 2 know more bout this model, kindly leave yr query here & i will reply ASAP!

I think sony ericson w395 is not that bad as i readso many comments from the user.i've just bought this model and the sound quality is fantastic.the others function such as the camera and the inbox messages not relly good but for me it'sok for those who just need to call or enjoying loud music..the design looks great...i dont care bout the other things..

hello fellow user, since nothing seems to be playable on this phone, you may download "dvd videosoft free studio manager" for you to convert videos so they would be playable to your w395. i believe the compatible option, when you have already downloaded it, would be "free video to ipod and psp converter".

hi alexis, to change lettering, click on messaging,then click on write new message, click again on txt message, then go to options and scroll down to txt format and click on that. in there is txt size, small medium or large, choose from that ok, if u click on txt style choose option regular. hope this helps.

Actually, this model runs on OpenSSL Platform(which is an open source platform).It was was fully customized since this is a mid-range model. Many people are mistaken that its made by SAGEM. That's why it's interface is a little different than many other sony ericsson models because they run on standard SE platform. If u are going 2 use it for basic usage, then sure it will perform very well.

Hey chill....1st make sure the format is either MP3/AAC, then send it. If other format like WMA for example & if u really want the song, then use any converter software on yr computer, convert to MP3(MAKE SURE THE BITRATE VALUE IS NOT TOO HIGH>>it may crack yr speaker), then continue sending....If you don't have the converter, go to sites like download.com/softpedia.com & try to look for the best software because there are plenty of them!! W395's music quality is truly awesome, trust me & chill!!

Infact, the saved messages folder only represents the messages saved in simcard. In this phone, there is no seperate folder for that, it will be stored in the same INBOX, saved in sim memory. If you select phone memory it will be among Drafts. So if you had chosen sim, search in the inbox; and if phone, search in Drafts.

Hey annie! I couldn't agree with you more! I loved my cousin's so i picked this one up. I used it for 3 months but was so dissatisfied with it that i exchanged it with my mom (who's not tech savy) and got 6300 from her. I'll keep it for sometime, then i think E72 should be my next one!

I like the model, it's looks, and is indeed surprisingly loud ! The camera is also decent. But the phone underperforms on many counts : 1. Extremely low message memory (60 (YES ONLY 60) including SIM Cards) 2. It operates extremely slowly sometimes : it's as if it takes time for the blood to reach it's brain! 3. Poor battery life, have to recharge it every one and a half days. In general, I can get better features on a nokia vis-a-vis this phone at a cheaper price !

Good work anyway...I din know you are still helping those W395 owners with problems. Anyway, how's the support on your blog page? For me, every model regardless of their functions including those holistic ones only stands out to me maybe for the longest 1 week. After that i will get bored with it. I only feel the pride when i show my model 2 my frens. I was using my friend's W395(Dusky Grey version) for about 2 weeks. We exchange phone s.times. I agree with u, there were some small bugs in the system which was irritating but overall it was a nice fon. I'm using P1i right now( which i started getting bored although its a smartphone).

I never praised this phone madly, in all my opinions, I tried to mention its positives(few) and negatives. And as I used it more, it turned out to be more and more useless. 4. Hey, i though u were d 1 who were busy giving support when people having trouble with their W395. Since u own a Naite now, u hv started bashing W395! When u were having it, u were praising & supporting it like mad! Obviously Naite is better in many aspects because its more pricier. I've tested almost all sony ericsson models including those latest line-ups like Vivaz,X2,satio eg. For me there's nothing great bout them. Y don't u think about those who can only afford a phone like W395. I agree W395 is nt as powerful as other models like the one u own but think about the people who can only afford it & that's y sony ericsson still releases lower-end & mid-range models. My friend wanted to buy a phone, so I told her to buy a SE phone since by experience, a sony phone is reliable both on hardware and software. So she bought this phone last month. It's a crap! I'm a Sony ericsson fan myself, my third phone was a a SE w810i, and I'm still using it for three years now. w810i which was released four years ago was far better than w395. It's even incomparable to the features that w810i could deliver. My point is, is sony's quality has become cheaper than ever? Never thought that sony could do this to its consumers. Its very disappointing. I'm planning to buy an Aino this month, but I would probably look for other brand.

- Scratch-resistant surface ? yes its a scratch resistant surface, but it's a scratchable surface on another side (except the screen) the speakers is great - incl. motion-based + downloadable ? there is no motion based game and i cant use the motion games i download. Picture editor? i cant find it in my phone! we can NOT ADDED A NEW THEME. it will recognize a theme file as unknownable. there is NO NOTES here. the wallpaper cannot be maximized. the keypad is easily broke, especially you with long nails. cannot copy and paste. cannot do task manager. if you send a txt file here, it wont save for you. you have to save manually a file you send by bluetooth. disappointing! i used it and it broke. i've serviced it twice. guarantee are still useable, but i dont want to use this phone. its a crap. i used it only 6 or 7 months. i'm wasting my money

this is the worst phone , though it has good sound quality....but the rest of features is really bad. it doesn't support any themes nor opera mini browser...it's modem software is not compatible with windows 7. and lastly it's processing is very slow,very very slow....so please don't buy this phone ,it's merely a waste of money...i am telling this from my own experience.

I used this model for about 2 months, trying to ignore all its bugs and handicaps with functionality. Atlast I disposed it and got SE T715 and now back into the usual interface and functionality of SE. Honestly, now I feel as if I was in a nightmare for those two months!!

Do u know s.ting, u need 2 explore the fon by yourself instead of asking people's opinion. Anyway, I believe that u know its a music-oriented fon, so obviously the music capability right frm sound quality 2 the music player itself, everything is ok 4 me so far. In the camera department, since the 2MP camera lacks auto-focus & flash so its not recommended 2 be used at night & try 2 capture pics with natural lightning 2 get a "gud picture". Then common aspects like messaging, calls are ok so far. There is a small bug i found in the system software which resides on the walkman player >> Just say u set ur favorite equaliser 4 a song, then once the song finished playing, then the equaliser switches back 2 normal. Apart frm that, the system doesn't support 3rd party themes but don't classify it as retarded fon straight away because it comes preloaded with 5 great themes. These are my personal opinions which u cn get 2 know if u still prefer 2 use yr fon as "mystery".....All in all, its a good fon if u ignore all those small drawbacks.

OK, ive had this phone for only 4 and a half months now and its a very bad phone! The battery is ok at best ut the phone freezes constantly, my sis and 2 friends have this phone and the same thing happens to them! It is a bad phone! The bluetooth is rubbish-(constantly breaking) and iys not just my phone...Im busy waiting for a new phone to be delivered as we speak, ive had sonys since 2005 and this is the worst one ive had yet! and the internet is so slow i stopped using it! Even with opera mini! the speakers are the best part and they cant exactly work when it freezes!!!!

You can't turn off message tones and ring tones. While you are listening to a music, automatically, it will stop for a while if someone sent an SMS to you.

I am a SE user for years! I knew how SE works. But this one is really different. I bought it a few days ago, and I am frustrated. It's really different. Take a look at the menus and some functions. You can even zoom or rotate pictures when viewing it. Also, you can't choose what shortcuts do you want (you can choose but limited). According to some research, this phone is made by SAGEM but branded by SE. I emailed SE about this, and until now, I got no reply. I told them to help us users to enjoy this phone more, to have software updates, to fix bugs, to bring back the original SE functions.

Older se phones are better than these. New phones should contain more facilities. There are no themes, no landscape photo view, no good zoom, less message capacity(se a2 phones have unlimited message capacity). Only when you send multiple files via bluetooth the progress bar shows overall progress (no individual progress) is only good change.

Hello there! Between f305 and w395, both of them are not good for PC internet. They don't have a PC Suite which could allow you to do that. For your case, I would suggest you buy Naite instead. It's fully-packed phone already for daily basic needs such PC Sync., 3g, organizers, good music quality, video call. Also, it doesn't hurt your Pocket. It's almost the same price with w395. Also, it has a video call already and 3d capabilities. Try reviewing Naite, you might like it. Win7 Tech.

Why not? There is an option to 'save message'. You'll be asked to choose between phone memory and sim. If You choose 'phone', it will be saved in 'drafts' folder. If you choose 'sim', it will be saved in the sim card and You'll find it in the INBOX. There is no seperate 'saved messages' folder in this phone. (I don't see any purpose for the 'saved messages' folder in common SE phones, as it is just a place for the messages saved in the simcard; 20-30 maximum. You can download the PC suit. Latest is version 6.0. Try updating the firmware of the phone with the latest version available. It WILL fix most of the BUGs. But remember to deactivate the firewall of your antivirus. It might block the update process. have fun. I personally like the phone design. I hate the screen resolution, and the lack of AF and a LED flash. If the phone had a 240x320 resolution and a AF Flash, then it could have beaten Nokia 5130 Xpress Music, hands down, with the added Walkman Brand and the motion sensor.

No software support by Sony Just the USB drivers on their site to view/change files from the PC. With FLV: you can do more even synchronize contacts in SIM to PC (I did it 2 days ago but only for English text), send SMS from PC etc.

Hi SE! I have this phone for about 4 months now. I'm having some issues with it. 1. It doesn't have a PC suite. I can't sync it to my PC. It has a USB driver which says it could allow me to use this phone as a modem, however, it is not possible without the PC Suite. 2. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, the USB driver doesn't work that fine. Sometimes, when I switch my phone to Mass Storage mode, it will show. After several hours of using it, when I swith back to Mass Storage mode from Phone mode, it won't view my cards. I've fixed when I reintalled the driver again using a different compatibility mode. 3. It's kinda slow for some reasons. Slow in terms of USB transfer. It's only 400Kbps. I can't remember whether it was faster with my XP before. 4. It doesn't have any automatic setting for my email account. It could have been better if I could use the email feature without having to manually configure it. I'm using Google though. 5. It doesn't have a theme creator. 6. It does not support MP4. 3gp is not that good. Too much compression, bad quality. 2mp, could have been okay for video recording if it doesn't get pixelated. I bought this phone for its feature. In spite of some of its issues, I still recommend this for youths, or those who loves music. The phone's sound quality is good. For computer savvy like me, especially those who want to take the best out of their phone, try another one. Something which you can tweak more. When it comes to java gaming, this phone is good. It has lite 3d capability. SE, please provide some updates to this phone. It's kinda lacking something that could have been in it. I hope my review benefit us all W395 users. Dun worry Mohit, the sliding mechanism is perfect as I've mentioned earlier. Sony Ericsson have great experience manufacturing slide phones. To be truthful, Sony Ericsson had problem with slide function with their very 1st slide model, W850/W830, but later they managed 2 improvise themselves & their products are now very reliable.

Fyi, W395 runs on OpenSSl Platform which differs frm other model which are running on Sony Ericsson standard platform...Unfortunately, OpenSSL doesn't support that feature. Hey guys. I just got my hands on this cute slider & would like 2 comment on ups & downs of dis model. I tested Dusky Grey version with 1 GB Sandisk M2 on it. Basically it runs on OpenSSL platform & thus its simple & user friendly as well. The phone's user interface is about the same as other models in SE. Just that unfortunately, it doesn't support third-party themes. Users do have the options to use themes but u can only play with the 5 preloaded ones. The best part about this slider is the sound & music quality. Stereo speakers built on it are really gud(loud & crisp). I got HPM-62(the most lowest quality headphone frm SE) in my package. But surprisingly when i hooked it up & played a song through the walkman player ver 2.0, it sounded great. I felt the clarity & the nature of the song. The music quality is mind-blowing. A number of equalisers are present. Bass++ is my favorite but it depends on the user's taste as well. If u want an extra studio-like quality just turn on 'stereo widening'. JAVA apps support is pretty gud. Overall system performance is moderate. M2 inserted works as the RAM. The higher the M2 capacity, the better the general performance! Camera is the drawback. Absence of auto-focus causes the picture quality 2 be just ok(not gud, not bad). The picture will look fine if taken under natural lightning & viewed through a PC. Sliding mechanism is perfect. Now its time 4 me 2 give overall rating. You are kidding right. You are saying that W395 is better than 5130XM. On which planet did you get this crazy idea! Here is a list of things that W395 doesn't support but 5130 does, 1. Flash animations (.swf) 2. All mp4 files support (depending on the encoding settings and file size, W395 fails to recognise this format, there is a 60% chance of failure). On the other hand, nokia 5130 supports all forms of mp4 files no matter how big the file size is. I myself have played movies ranging from 300mb to 1gb in my 5130. 3. 5130 can easily handle an 8gb microsdHC card even if it is almost full (can also support 16gb cards). W395 can't even handle a 4gb card properly. 4. Screen resolution of W395 sucks(176*220) compared to nokia 5130(240*320). Watching videos, photos and browsing web is so much livelier and clearer in nokia 5130 due to higher resolution. 5. W395 Doesn't support themes. 5130 does. I have themes whose sizes are over 2mb, on my 5130. 6. Too much distortion of sound at high volumes in W395 due to uncontrolled bass. 5130 sound clarity is way better in any volume level (comparisons are made in terms of audio output, not the headphones used) 7. W395 price is almost 2000Rs more than nokia 5130. 8. The RAM of W395 is 33% less than nokia 5130. Hence W395 is slower. 9. 5130 has 3.5mm audio output jack. So you can put in any headphone or music system or home theater you like, as all of these in market has 3.5mm audio input jacks. W395 doesn't have this and hence only support the headphones from sony ericsson. 10. 5130 has dedicated music and volume control keys. Thus you can change songs as you are browsing the net or playing any java games or going through any ebooks. Thus it is clear that nokia 5130 is the best there is in its price and not even sony ericsson can take that pride away.

Yes. there is a good mid range phone from SE- that is Naite (J 105). If you want excellent music/sound with stereo speakers, plus cute design plus decent display, go for W395. But its UI, though new and refined, has many limitations and slow browsing of memory card. No, you can't add thm files- it won't support. normally you have security locks on SE, but the function to activate them is hard to find and on each phone on a different place... as far as I know

OK so ive had this phone since october and all i can say is that it wont DIE! ive dropped it down the stairs and thrown it into a wall and it still works fine !!!! Very robust little thing!

to me, the image here is not bad, but when I went to shop to see it, it is super ugly!! Look like those fake phones in china. Who design this? No good... The sound is just okay and the buttons in front is very difficult to press. Don't buy this, you will be very disappointed.

This phone at first looks cool and you might think that if it is a SE it's good. Big mistake!!!!! The design might be cute but the phone it's slow. It always bugs you about not having enough space for your messages. The themes are stupid and you can't add themes. The camera should be 2 mega pixels but actually it's more like 1.3 and the pictures are sucky especially if you don't enough light. Sound quality is pretty good and at least 4 gb card works. It scratches very easy and it looks nasty. Over all if you don't want to much and you just want music and a simple phone you got it but if you imagine you got music,space and a super phone this phone it is not for you. By the way the battery is not that good so don't think that you can listen to music forever. On the bright side it is better then at other phones so..... it's up to you.
