Motorola DROID 2 - User Reviews

  • None of the Verizon phones of that vintage use SIM cards at all, they only began using them with the launch of their 4G LTE network and phones capable of using it. Even newer Verizon phones probably won't work with Consumer Cellular, as it uses the AT&T/T-Mobile networks and those operate at frequencies that aren't supported by the radios in most Verizon phones.

  • my droids 2 is having touch problems as its no longer responsive. all efforts to get the spare part in Lagos Nigeria where I resides proof abortive. please I need help.

  • Can I change over the Droid X2 from Verizon to Consumer Cellular? Do I need a SIM card? Where is it located in the phone?

  • 1.Ensure the device is powered off. If screen is frozen, remove/reinsert battery. 2.Slide the keyboard open. 3.Press and hold the Power button+X key simultaneously until the Recovery screen (exclamation point with an android figure) appears. 4.From the Recovery screen, press the Volume Up+Down buttons simultaneously. 5.Select wipe data/factory reset. Utilize the Volume buttons (Up/Down) to highlight and the Power button to select. If necessary, slide the keyboard to the closed position. 6.Select Yes -- delete all user data. Allow the factory reset process to complete (approximately 1 minute). 7.Select reboot system now. Allow up to 2 minutes for the reboot process to complete. To setup the device after the reset has completed, refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

  • I have the Motorola Driod 2 in which my phone is locked. I\'ve forgooten the password and didn\'t setup the google account. Can anyone tell me how to do the hard reset on the phone. The manual say\'s nothing to do a hard reset.

  • I will be honest about the phone I have 2 right now they are the worst phone I have ever had it takes like 30 mins to try to call someone it just freezes up all the time the first one was like that so I thought maybe it was just that phone so I got another one and its the same from 1 to 10 I would give it -10

  • I'm not sure about staight talk but I called net 10 before I purchased and they told me it would work ... that's a pre-paid service as well....

  • I'm thinking about getting this phone tomorrow and turning it into a straight talk phone. Is it a good phone and would it work with a straight talk SIM card?

  • How do you take a screenshot on this phone? This is a very important question and I would love to know the answer because I had an Iphone and I used it more than my camera. So please reply.

  • does this verizon phone have a simcard slot according to the google phone specifications? please help..

  • I have this phone, I want to know why I am not able to play some of the files online. It just says unable to play, does anyone know what I have to do to it so that it can play media files online?

  • No u do not has the customs of a non keyboard phone jus with the extra keyboard options for people like my bf who hate texting on the tight keyboard on screen....... people are to stuck in the old days lmfao. Keyboards arent the thing anymore. Its hard to even find a good keyboard phone but i have a feeling that this phones gunna b the best keyboard phone to get. Instead of a shit phone like the samsung stratosphere. One of the worst excuses of a "great" smart phone verizon has to offer.

  • Nope. They come as unlocked so u can get them for any company without paying an activation fee and they also make them with company name brand phones like verizon will only except verizon phones (unless you get lucky depending on the verizon u go to or who u get and or what mood there in.) But i have not yet seen this brand phones as pre paids

  • Miss informed. The os of droid 2 uses it 100 to 120 mb Leaving around 380 mb for apps usage and gaming.

  • It have kik, vine, instagram and more

  • i wanna know how to activate ethernet movil on my motorola android2verizon as soon as i want to activate it it asks me to enter MMI code complete. i want to know how to get away from or take it out?

  • does this phone has whatsapp or any of the modern apps

  • Is this a prepaid phone?

  • you tellem tech.....

  • Durable, Fast for an average user. Plays some games well. What the con is for me is that it has only 512mb of ram which is common but 2.3.4 uses about 200mb of that for its cached apps. Its been in a fire and it lived. the keyboard is stupid to me but that me.

  • if it is a 4g phone, they use sim cards for the 4g. So technically ALL 4g phones are partially GSM

  • This is not a GSM device it does not use Sim Cards.

  • it has a thin metal back that slides on. the Sims card and mini USB are right above the battery.

  • hi where does the sim card goes in the cellphone?

  • How do you open the back of this phone to get to the battery?

  • How do you open this phone?

  • if you open the back you will see a silver metal guard, take battery out, once out there is a picture of an SD card.

  • how do i locate the sim card slot?

  • I was told by Verizon that this phone does not use a SIM card... There is no place to put one.

  • Does anyone know if and how to input a new sim card in this phone? There is a black dummy sim in the phone now, but I heard it can be removed and replaced with a personal sim card in order to use the phone unlocked. Is this actually possible? Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Hulu

  • im ralphi,now i use a motorola doid2 i can't remove the airplane mode. please help me.

  • Homie I am guessing you don't know much not only about the droid but any other android os based phones go to your music and go to songs now go to the one you want as ringtone and push and hold on the screen on that song till more options come up and one will say set as ringtone lol you're welcome

  • I need to unlock it. Does someone know a solution beside calling Verizon or using a Smart Sim?

  • Right now, am using Morotola Droid 2. But i dont no how i can you an Mp3 as a Ringing tone on my phone.

  • yes it does have a sim card slot

  • Speak so everyone can understand wtf your saying!

  • No there is not. Its a CDMA network device.

  • I've had this phone for since it came out and its pretty awesome. I want to get a new phone because I got my verizon 2 year upgrade, but I'm so conflicted cuz I like this phone so much. Has some lag when flipping through screens or exiting apps, much better since the OS update but its still present, occasional freeze where I have to do a battery pull. Phone is built like a brick, never had a case on it these 2 years and it barely has a scratch, some1 at work even accidently spilled water all over it and it was fine. I dunno about the other comment about having to replace them because I'm hard on my phone (leave it in my pocket no matter what I'm doing, dropped it a few, etc) and its fine. I'd say if u get it on a deal cuz its old now then do it, its a solid choice even now. even at 2 years old when I pull it out people will be like "damn what kinda phone is that?"

  • This phone is nice at first.. Then you get stuck replacing it over and over again. I'm on my third one already and my last replacement was a month ago before this recent one I had to get this week. :[

  • is there a sim card for this droid 2?

  • Beauttiful phone. Problem with physical keyboard, repeatts somme lletters. This one is a repplaceement and Ii have the same problem

  • No. It doesn't work in GSM network.

  • Is there a sim card slot in Verizon version?

  • It's a nice phone I had some issues when the OS was Froyo but updating to Gingerbread it's working fine. If you want to update follow this from where I have updated:

  • kindly info.the price....

  • what is the price????????

  • am in luv with dis fone since I started using dis moto all ma class gals are like wassup! jay should I come for a ... .

  • where is the ROM? galaxy S even provide 2GB ROM

  • This phone sux. It freezes sometimes the camera doesnt work and u hav to restart. I hate it. Buy iphone 4 ppl. I wanted to and now i regret not doing so

  • The Droid 2 Global will have a 1.2 GHz processor

  • You don't have to slide open the keyboard at all if you don't want to. The OS is the same that is on other non-slider android phones, you can do everything just by touching the screen (email, text, internet, phone, etc...).

  • I thought this is GSM Arena. What is this CDMA phone doing here anyway?

  • It supports MULTI TOUCH as well, so you can type without sliding/gliding!!! have fun

  • my friend, the phones, both of them exist already., now is coming the droid2 global(beginning of november), wich would be cdma/gsm for verizon usa and i believe then the world. ** for the first post ** you use the keyboard you prefer phisical or onscreen, all depends you!

  • does anyone know if you have to use the slide out EVERY single time you want to type something? even if its something short and quick like a word in the search box or a phone number, or can you use an onscreen keyboard if you dont want to keep opening and closing the phone?

  • it'll be awesome phone cant wait foeits relase............

  • Dear friend, as far as I know, Droid is the same as Milestone the difference is that Droid is for USA networks and Milestone for GSM networks. Same difference between Droid2 and Milestone 2 (wich doesn't exist so far...).

  • The milestone 2 is the non CDMA version

  • is there any unlocked droid 2 that could be used in gsm?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is difference between Droid 2 and Milestone 2 ? who can help me,please? i couldn't find something clear by comparison of their specification in this site!!!

  • what is difference between Droid 2 and Milestone 2 ? who can help me,please? i couldn't find something clear by comparison of their specification in this site!!!

  • I officially hate when this CDMA thing happens to high end devices...

  • Which part in South??... I'm from Trinidad as well.. Central

  • you sure it is a gsm and you sure it is not a dual clone

  • there is a guy in my country, he has 1 and it works with a gsm chip.. he got it in a store on the south side of trinidad.he paid $3000.00 tt dollars( about us $500.00)it works just find.yet still i would go with the n900..

  • Let e know when it uses a chip..

  • best battery android

  • The original Droid versus the Milestone had the diference on the multitouch ability (on the Milestone). Maybe they still have that diference. I haven´t looked closly to the specs yet.

  • The best HD test

  • The milestone works on the GSM network while DROID 2 is locked on a CDMA network.

  • If anybody want 2 buy a Android device then i think,it will be da best still now.ADOBE 10.1,HD video,HD screen,CAMERA 5mp ok,2.2 os froyo. Etc Yap,its da best

  • what is the difference between the droid 2 n milestone 2 ? the spec sheet is pretty much the same

  • just got my motorola droid 2 smartphone and its awesome! grab it for only $89.99 if you're going to open a new verizon account with 2 year contract. go to the link below. steps: 1)change the zip code 2)Customize your plan option ( select the plan of your choice) 3)hit the green add to cart button 4)on the "Recommended Options" page you can get insurance(optional), accessoriesoptional), additional plan features (smartphone data plan is required). then click the green arrow that says continue. 5)reveiw your cart then click "check out". 6)fill up the application them click "submit order".

  • the screen size is 3.7"??

  • The GSM version of Droid 2 we've all been waiting for finally arrives :)

  • Motorola released an official promo of the Motorola Milestone 2 but pulled it down as quickly as it came. Can t take it as unintentional. But some people who have been spying on it could grab enough information, that could hurt Motorola. The Motorola Milestone 2 looks more like a Droid 2, than its predecessor Milestone original. The yet-to-be- launched Android smartphone features a a 3.7-inch FWVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera/HD camcorder, powered by a 1GHz OMAP processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB internal memory and an 8GB microSD card in its slot. Looks like Motorola has given away more than what it wished it did, as the video says that the Milestone has the 3G Mobile Hotspot functionality, meaning that it comes ported with Android 2.2 FroYo, and Adobe Flash 10.1 is a last minute entice.

  • Milestone 2 video promo on youtub the official one. All of you that wanted the GSM of Droid 2, is coming just have a look and say HELLO MOTO.

  • very True

  • Disappointed with Motorola for not having GSM version for Droid 2.

  • compared to the htc and samsung android phones Motorola phones build quality is really good.

  • You're talking here about a SmartPhone. Not a handycam. Compared to iPhone's quality I would say that it's a bit lacking, but seeing price vs performance vs opensource you'd be getting what you pay for.

  • i wouldnt mind having this fone.

  • CDMA is outdated,Motorola Droid 2 without Gsm is not going to suceed atleast in india

  • I heard the GSM version will be out this mid-September. Well, I've been longing to buy my first smartphone for some time now, and if the Droid 2 arrives here in the Philippines, I'd buy it right away :)) I won't mind how bad the camera is anymore. I guess the perfect phone isn't out there yet. And if I keep waiting for that, I might end up waiting forever :P

  • It is true. Even Droid x with 8 M pixel is far far lousy when comparing with Iphone only with 5M pixels. Moto is well known for good audio, operating systems, design. Been waiting for GSM version for Droid 2 but it seems impossible. Let's move to Nokia/ LG: N9, LG C900, pls come soon.

  • haha. It's just that I first wanted to buy the N900, but then I found out that it's OS (Maemo 5) doesn't have that much to offer yet. So I waited for this Froyo and found the Droid 2. And now they say that the camera of Droid 2 is not that good. And I've seen some samples of videos recorded by Droid 2, and to be honest, I'm kind of disappointed. The video quality is poor for a smartphone such as Droid 2, the audio quality is good though.

  • n900 or dext this is beter !

  • d2 or n900 !!!!! lol are u crazy how can compare poor n900 with d2 world first android 2.2 - 1ghz cpu - 6gb flash ram this is beter compare : n900 or milestone or dext

  • For the fair evaluators out there... Nokia N900 or Motorola Droid 2? :)

  • Motorola Droid 2 for GSM will be a blast. How can they ignore GSM?

  • Will the same design be released for GSM as successor to Milestone?

  • nokia's n9 will be the furst gsm with meego operating system so it will be the best when it gow's out. but yes motorola droid is a good cell phone it is a shame that droid 2 is limited like that

  • gsm version we want !!??

  • Battery test on Android devices shows DROID X shines, AMOLED devices fall short Over at LaptopMag, they have conducted a test on a variety of Android devices to compare battery life. Devices included in the test were: HTC Incredible EVO 4G Samsung Vibrant Captivate Motorola DROID 2 DROID X Dell Streak The results? According to the article, Motorolas two flagship phones, the Droid 2 and the Droid X, ruled the roost, but phones with attractive AMOLED screens clearly fell behind the pack. The worst phone for battery life that we tested was the HTC Droid Incredible, which managed an average of only 4 hours and 33 minutes, compared to the Droid X s 7 hours and 42 minutes of endurance.

  • new motorola smartphone are realy great and unrivaled but moto need to released these super technology for all around world for all global

  • for woooooooooooooooorld wide please motorola

  • Can't agree more with you. Should search for other peers like nokia, LG giants to come soon before this season.

  • C7 & N9? They can't even match the original Milestone, why rush to release Milestone 2?

  • excelent Phone!!!!!

  • gsm version please moto .

  • Droid Pro is nothing other than a global edition of Droid 2. Droid Pro will carry GSM antenna to satisfy international users out of Verizon network. Source:

  • its not a tu- rumour, its an android

  • Bad news I just got from Customer support dept of Motorola that they still not have any notifications of the GSM version for this droid 2. Means we still wait for something uncertain. Nokia C7 or N9 with GSM sure to come soon with full qwerty and touch screen can be the best alternates for us. Do not waste time waiting for Moto, too tired. Cheers.

  • too slow!!

  • this is the big wish and request for all motofan around the world

  • Can you send me more information about this rumor ! Thanks.

  • I love FM radio too! Though recently I found an app which has all of my favorite stations, and I've unlimited data plan, so... As for AMOLED, I heard Samsung can't make enough of it for itself, so no others, including the H brand, will get any.

  • every body say motorola released droidx & droid2 for world wide

  • for success motorola need to released very soon all new super smartphone like this one and droid x for world wide flipout - charm - xt800 - gordan - kube and ... for wooooooooooooooorld wide please moto

  • If Motorola wanted a surefire winner, they should have atleast added an AMOLED screen and a FM radio to this model. I won't buy this otherwise nice phone.

  • Cant wait for the droid 2/droid-pro world series to be release worldwide...hoping it will reach here in the philippines w/in this year.. Another great phone moto!!samsung galaxy s just arrived here but motorola android phones is still the king of android..

  • Wonder when its gsm version will come to india! As of now, europe will be getting milestone2 in nov-dec. Maybe it reaches asia by mar-apr nxt yr. But by that time, maybe windows7 extravaganza will steal its hype n glow. Which phone should i go for in the meantime on my b'day in nov? Sammy wave is cheapest of all costly android biggies!

  • bought both :)

  • OMG... not right... Droid 2 is a GSM phone just like the droid. It came with 1 GHz processor and of course android 2.2 (froyo)...... HD 720p video capturing and playback.... A magnificent phone except the screen. Why only the droid X has its 4.3 inch... Hope the droid pro will be better

  • but at that article said that it's Verizon's next project phone ... anyways, whatever it will called later, i think i will buy it ^^ because this month when i want to buy milestone it's not sold anymore in my place :( hope next month this phone is really release for world and hope that this phone's performance will be as great as milestone ^^

  • well if i'm not wrong, CDMA's internet connection is not GPRS ... i forgot what it call but what i remember is CDMA's 3G connection called EVDO so it's still can connect internet even without GPRS because is use CDMA not GSM

  • why not to try x10 as you talk about style. We like moto and I personally like the upcoming Droid Pro. So you are free to buy what you want.

  • can any one plz tell me how are we ganna conect to internet using our simcard while this phone does not support gprs?

  • Yes, like the previous version, it is named Droid in the US, and Milestone outside the US. So this new cell will be called Milestone 2.

  • i will never consider buying droid pro. bcoz its of no style with new upcoming issues.

  • Apparently it's worse, as the signal drops even without you having to touch the Droid 2

  • It's true this phone has the antennagate problem just like iPhone 4?

  • Droid Pro will be better than Droid x. Droid Pro packs 1.3Ghz with better GPU than Droid x, Droid.Pro will have videocall with 4 inches. The Motorola Droid Pro, previously rumored to have a 1.3 GHz processor, 4″ touchscreen and global roaming (support for both CDMA/ EVDO and GSM/UMTS/HSDPA networks, which effectively means you can roam around the world with it.

  • how stupid is Marketing at Motorola ??

  • Hi All, may i Know if we can load visiting card scanner in Motorola droid ? If yes where can i get this application which will work for Motorola droid? plzzz let me know...

  • so hows the droid pro? i think moto droid xtreme is best in moto series! only in MOTO series!!!!

  • Droid it is a commercial name use by Verizon which means no company can you that name. That why we don't only have Moto Droid, Droid 2 or Droid x but also HTC Droid Eris and Droid incredible. So Droid only for Verizon. Cellular South also provide Droid in USA but named it Milestone.

  • hmm i've been googling just like what u said to me ... and i found that rumor too ... but it said that droid 2 will come with GSM and CDMA .. is this mean that the name will same droid 2 and will not change to milestone 2 ??? thx :)

  • Cheers and let's welcome this very good news and look forwards to touching it very soon. Thanks Motorola !

  • No need of link, just use google search and tape Droid Pro and Droid 2 version GSM and CDMA you will get a lot of links talking about Droid 2 and even more. Here some good news TMobile will receive a upcoming Moto water proof allowing it more than 10 meters deep in the water and still android phone.

  • woa really ???? hope that rumors is true :) well if u don't mind can i ask link to that contain this rumor ?? thx :)

  • Hopefully next month. The rumor comes from a very trusty source.

  • well can i ask something ??? is there any rumors about gsm version of this phone ??? because i really want to have this phone but i live in Asian country :( thx 4 answer my question :)

  • to motorola company: when will you have droid 2 run on gsm ?

  • Rugged Motorola Jordan will be on T-Mobile By Vlad Bobleanta on 17 Aug 10 Sprint and Boost Mobile may have the Motorola i1 rugged handset all to themselves, but it appears that T- Mobile is prepping to launch a mighty competitor to that model. A new Motorola smartphone running Android and going by the codename Jordan is set to be released by T- Mobile in November. Whats interesting about this handset is that, unlike other rugged handsets, it will apparently be completely waterproof down to 10 meters (33 feet). Its also supposed to be IP67 certified, which means no dust ingress, complete protection against contact in IP code. However, according to the code, that 7″ in IP67″ means that ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion), which does contradict the aforementioned claims of the Jordan being waterproof down to 33 feet. 1 meter or 10 meters, well surely find out soon which it is. And in any case, this will be one smartphone you wont be afraid to subject to the elements or take with you wherever you go even to the desert or for a dive.

  • Man keep voting down this phone and all hater can do so but Moto will still go ahead. Look Droid Pro is not release yet. This will come with 1.3Ghz, videocall and everything droid x have but with better GPU than DX. Droid Pro will be GSM/CDMA means it will be release world wide in november with Gingerbread or Froyo. Also Droid 2 version GSM/CDMA world wide. Not to mention the Moto Table 10 inch with 2Ghz, videocall and more. Then with such things Moto's doing how do you want me to change?

  • Thanks alot for your exciting news. International users are impatiently waiting to have it in hand. Please update the community any latest progress you can. Cheers.

  • Whats about GSM? lol

  • For you Moto fan some good news for you. We have really good news, Moto reveled 2 GSM and CDMA phones. The Droid 2 new version and Droid Pro 1.3Ghz according to the CEO Moto will add videocall on in lastest devices also a Tablet coming with 2Ghz and run Gingerbread this one have videocall. The 3 moto devices will be world wide because it GSM and CDMA. Enjouy

  • This is a pretty sweet deveice baised off it's specs, yeah it looks a little bit like the orginal Droid, but why change what works. I'd be nice to see this come though on the GSM side, I've just ordered the new Milestone, which isn't packing the same processor, but it's still repectable. I'm excited for it, I like the Droid line, I think this really helped get the Android OS off the ground because no one knew or cared about it much until these phones came out. Just compare some release dates to the original droid and then too when other droid phones came out. What is up with the cell phone essay. Ok you want the latest thing we get it. Personally if you think Samsung are innovators your sadly mistaken. Yeah right now they are, because they just came out with the next thing, wait 3 months there will be a million Galaxy S phones and they'll all be the same. They did the same thing back with the Ultra Edition line back in the day. I know this because I own the D900, and the Original Soul, only for 2 weeks later a discount version of each comes out packing the same features.

  • Please I'm not Droid x anymore. I'm Droid Pro Okay? For does said that Droid 2 have a problem, it is the truth but no one knows if it a software or hardware issus. No informations reveled the real matter and in addition it is not all Droid 2 that have that problem. Here what I know

  • You're right! He bash x10 everytime he visit x10 forum and told you he's not free to post comment on x10 forum.

  • does not support true HD recording (720p/+)...comes only at 480....something motorola decided to alterate..real miss

  • No this phone does not have 720p recording and nor does it has hdmi out GSMA are bit wrong on specs. I m sayin in it coz i know and i m using droid x which has all this things and i have tested this device too at verizon store. But all in all this is pretty good device but i like my DX better. Bigger screen and .all the goodies u can have in a phone

  • does this phone support hd video recording?

  • Careful before buying this phone. Antennagate is back, only this time its on the Droid 2, and better than ever. Why? Cos you don't even have to touch it a certain way, you don't have to touch it at all! merce-journal dot com/node/29327

  • Is it not possible to get this one with no games, no GPS and noscript. Thanks

  • To the Management of Motorola Company: Please tell crazy fans of Moto when you will have GSM version for Milestone 2 ? Please response soon. Thanks.

  • Gee...I hope I didn't ruffle your feathers....Galaxy phones have progressed from release to release, can the same be said with the Razors, and what will prob be the same with the Droid? -- answer nope. Had a Razor, and it was by far the worst phone I ever had other than the cool aluminum shell, and I had 3 motorolas going back to the original Motorola Razor predecessor in 2000... Droid 1 is basically the same as Droid 2 except for the 1G chip, Android 2.2, a lil better camera, and a redesign of the original droid.....however, it's still the same. This Galaxy version is a huge leap from the prior versions, Super Amoled, 4 variations -- each different from the other, improved CPU, improved touch screen, better download speed, better call clarity, and to be honest the menus and functions were a lot more user friendly and logical to navigate than the Droids. Spent 20 mins in the store playing with Droid X and 2 and it was like a confused video game. And, this is suppose to be a business phone? Yes you are correct, I was referring the the Droid X, with Droid 1 and 2, it's even less screen space than 3.7. So it's more like a 3.3 screen....no? I've owned many cell phones and returned many. My preference is Samsung, HTC, Nokia, and LG. I've owned Motorolas and the fore mentioned, and not every Samsung or HTC was a winner, as there were problems and lemons in the mix. However, the key factors that keep me coming back to Samsung, HTC, and Nokia, are their cutting edge technology, many great phone variations for all lifestyles and usage, and their willingness to take chances with technologies that really bring out the best in phones. Sorty, but Motorola plays it too safe, and this is probably why their company didn't grow within the last 5 years before the Android and Droid sales. They even played it safe with their Droids. Really no reason to release Droid 2 if they didn't make marked improvements. They could have used Amoled screen tech but didn't. Could've made the screen 4 inches, or improved on their menus and that MotoBlur...they didn't. The Bricking of Motorolas is not inaccurate, they have a program installed that will brick the phone if you make what they consider advanced alterations. If you purchase the phone and you own it, then i guess you really should be able to do anything that you want with it, unless your are stealing bandwidth and services which is wrong...otherwise why do this..am i right? So if I own the phone, I should be able to improve on it as long as I'm not stealing.... no? Bottomline, you like Motorola, I'm not wild about them and their conservative approach with their cells. I will always consider all phones, but if I think the technology or advancement is not up to par i will pass. If I see product and marketing practices which can be deemed monopolistic, or against consumer rights to own and to decide freely, I will also pass. I loved the Iphone when it came out, but refused to buy one because of the marketing practices of Apple. So I passed. I won't buy a phone that prevents me from enjoying my adult toy. Why should i have to buy a whole new phone just to double my GBs? Droids turning into bricks is another example of what's not right with technology. Sorry, but Galaxy S phones are the face of cell phones future for the next 12-18 months. Verizon even signed up, but they're probably delaying release until they move their Droid phones first, and for a little fine tuning of the S. Probably installing 4g, and Android 2.2. Maybe a little fine tuning of the GPS as well. Again, as least with the Samsung Galaxy franchise, each model seems to have significant technological and physical differences from their prior models. Keeps consumers on their toes and their interest alive.

  • To Motorola Corporation. This is a very good product. Could you please inform us of when you will have the GSM version of Droid 2 for internation users. I am in Viet Nam, and could you please let me how long I would expect it to be available here in Viet nam. Thanks & regards, Duc

  • Droids turn into a brick if you try to hack them is a misleading statement. The bootloader is encrypted so you cannot use custom roms but any device can be bricked if you hack it incorrectly. The screen on the Droid and Droid 2 is 3.7 but if you were talking about the Droid X 4.3" screen feeling like a 4 because of buttons underneath then you are just a hater. Your same Galaxy S has a huge D pad under the screen and I do not hear you criticizing that. There are a bunch of Galaxy phones by Samsung and I do not here you knocking Samsung for that like you did with the RAZR comment. Motorola is finally in the pack with technology. You also do not have to wait as long as some other manufacturers for the Android updates.

  • The stats listed here says it does support GPS and A-GPS

  • it does support GPS

  • Droids that turn into bricks if you try to hack them....this in addition to Verizon's pinch every penny from their customers policy where you have to pay for everything...and Motorola is still a really subpar cell phone maker in terms of cutting edge technology...always behind the curve...how many variations are we going to see of the Droids...hope not as many as the Razors which means we'll see about 20...at least Samsung manufactors the Amoled technology which is far superior to TFT...what is Mototola waiting for, Super LED to come out?....4.3 inch screen, but it's so crowded that in reality, it really is a 4 inch screen, the extra butttons take up the space...EVOs truly have the biggetst screens, not Droid X.

  • Samsung Galaxy S phones just like every other Samsung phone is poorly built. They all feel cheap and plasticky. So The Galaxy line could never be better than this in many ways. Also Samsung touch wiz interface is poor also. Moto did nothing but add its own widgets to this phone yet people complain about it when you can just hide or remove the widgets. Samsung's menu looks like an iphone knock off.

  • 3G 3.1 Mbps ! what a joke.A cheap nokia or samsung phone has hsdpa 10.2 or 7.2 mbps.Its a waste of money.

  • nice motorola

  • Yes man, who ever wanna post can post here. We are not like on x10 forum. Here to bash or not it doesn't matter, it is just a phone.

  • It doesn't support GPS. It doesn't have GSM support. With a blackberry storm phone, it can support both type of network. Man, i wish company can make phones that support either or.

  • For this price you have galaxy S (samsung) is better in to many ways

  • This has business focus, not for social sites, like tweet or facebook. No need of 2 cameras!

  • Don't worry, because Motorola will be this and the Droid X 4 other parts of the world. :)

  • I hope they release gsm versions of this incredible phone. :)

  • and in rest!!! D2 is far far better iphone has dead end now

  • no front camera???? so iphone 4 is better in this field?

  • Verizon and Sprint are running on CDMA in US...just they seldom emphasize what system they use.

  • Motorola Droid X and Milestone 2 to hit France, and other European markets, in few months Submitted by Surjit Singh on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 09:27 Technology Sector Featured TNM Motorola With the Motorola Droid X having already been launched on Verizon in the US, and the Droid 2 also round the corner, a FrAndroid report has revealed that the Droid X will likely hit France in November or December. The report also adds that, subsequent to the Droid X release in France, the Droid 2 will also be introduced as Motorola Milestone 2 with the name change apparently falling in line with the fact that the first QWERTY Droid was launched as Milestone in Europe. In addition to Motorolas launch of the Droid X and Droid 2 handsets in France, the release of the two handsets in other European markets including UK, Germany, and Italy will also clearly be on the cards soon after. It is also being speculated that in case the Droid X and Milestone 2 mark their Europe debut in a few months from now, the devices will most likely feature the newest Android version the Android 2.2 Froyo. In fact, with the ever since the build FRF84B was leaked with Root available, there have been indications that the much-awaited Android Froyo update will soon arrive on the Motorola Droid phones. Going by an unofficial Verizon Tech Support site, which confirmed the arrival of the Froyo update some days back, the Classic Droid may probably get Android Froyo as early as next week

  • I know this weight is bad but you need to appreciate that solid feel comes from metal and metal is heavy. Besides, i personally prefer little heavier phone with heavier battery than a light phone whose battery konks off every 8 hours or so. To run so powerful device with this monster screen 1400 mah battery is underpowered. I doubt the claim of 10 hrs of talk time. like GALAXY S battery should have been 1800 mah..

  • ok, will do it for you

  • i want to know that is this cdma phones work in US or not ? pleas help me out is there cdma network in US?

  • motorola hey motorolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa please you must released this beautiful monster for world wide u musr released this phone this or next month if u want victory and win to other brands u must do it released it for world wide we are many droid lover in iran we want droid x and droid2 come on moto you must keep your fan we are waiting but how many times we cant wait for these new phones ....................................................

  • This "thing" is pretty darn heavy

  • why motorola MAKE THE DROID 2 A gsm phone!!! i want this phone so bad =[ i want the droid 2 so bad make this a gsm phone please moto please

  • this is unrivaled smartphone even beter than droid x !!

  • GSM Version of the Motorola DROID 2 please!!!

  • motorola made me disappointed.. the Froyo update has been set to september and i cant wait.. i shall port over to iPhone instead ..

  • There is no reason Motorola wouldn't cook a GSM version of this, given the wide adoption of the original Milestone. What's disappointing is the same 'rubber mat' keyboard, although it looks like there is at least some key definition (on angled profile pics at least). Interesting that this beat the Nexus One, although the new OMAP no doubt secured that. Graphics are the usual PowerVR SGX 530, although at least it's not an Adreno (I'm looking at you Qualcomm). Should we see a GSM version, it'll be a nice gap-filler until we see OMAP 4430/Cortex A9 devices next year. Cheers.

  • There is always a bad point, in this case it is the weight. It seems nobody can make a perfect phone.

  • The perfect phone! I hope a GSM version will show up soon!

  • Says here the screen size is an ordinary 3.7 inches whereas in two other articles in gsmarena it's quoted as having a much heftier 4.3 inches. Which is more likely to be correct? Thanks

  • So far this year I already bought 4 Moto Android phones: Milestone, Backflip (but sold already), Cliq (Dext), and Quench (Cliq XT), and I simiply love Moto phones with Android. Overall I'm quite satisfied. Though I sure look for the following features: - app to SD (which Android 2.2 should support) - HDMI and overall I do prefer phones with both touchscreen and keypad. However, one of the reasons I got the Quench is for its....radio! Come on Moto, why you seem to be a bit reluctant to put radio on phones with qwerty? The only Qwerty phone with radio so far is Flipout, which is not yet available where I live. However, most other touch only ones like XT701, 720, Quench, etc...all have radios. If my understanding is correct, it's nothing more than just a chip and programming. So when you make the GSM version, can you include radio on the phone as well? I understand many Americans don't need radio as they also have radio in their cars, and most stations play music which can be downloaded. But radio is important in many other parts of the world, as where I live I mostly listen to talk shows, which aren't available else where. So please add radio on GSM Milestone 2!!!

  • If Nexus One is such an awesome phone as you mentioned, why is it being pulled out of the market and I almost see nobody using it, when even some "mothers" are using Droid?

  • Dude, did you realize recently GSM Arena has been reporting "CDMA ONLY" phones? CDMA only phones simply do NOT run on the GSM frequencies being used in Europe and parts of Asia. Much you praise about your E63, your E63 would get minimal reception throughout most of US, and probably no EDGE/GPRS in some central / south American countries, plus south Korea. So can I say your "device" is bad because it doesn't work in some countries? BTW, I call E63 being a device is due to the fact, when being compared to Droid 2 / Milestone, which offers the industry exclusive Crystal Talk technology, your "device" captures much more background noise than these Moto phones.

  • yeah, make it worldwide & i'd love to know if it will be compatible with gingerbread? anyway, should've come with amoled of not s.amoled. would've made this perfect!

  • Motorola, please make a DROID 2 that is compatible for the GSM network! I really want to buy and use your phones, but I can't live with CDMA networks...

  • Droid 2 benchmark beat Nexus with 2.2 here

  • droid 2 with Froyo faster then any device available in the market.

  • I wanna get the GSM version of this baby.

  • It's incredible how Google Nexus one still has the same or better specs than this phone seven months after it was introduced...

  • graphics is the same as original droid : powerVR 530. only the processor is improved from 550 mhz to 1ghz.

  • Well, that would be something that might be of interest. Missing usb-host.

  • but too bad it is CDMA

  • Seeeeexxxxxxxxyyyyyyy .....salute to Motorola for its design n features.

  • The phone is good, at least with a bigger internal memory. Still lacking of the fifth line keypad row for the numbers. Whoever designs this phone must have thought that he is a genius. He doesn't realized that texting/typing numbers on a 4 row keypad without dedicated number pad is very troublesome, especially those with fat fingers and thumbs. The phone designer I suspected is having a skinny fingers. I sold my Nokia N900 because of the less perfect keypad. My E90 still stays with me though.

  • this is so hot

  • not gsm, no edge, no gprs...Wifi only? so u can share back the Wifi thats already there... hmmmm makes plenty sense... I can share My internet from my Nokia E63 free of cause... to unlimited devices.

  • what about graphics? PowerVR SGX540?

  • what about graphics? PowerVR SGX540?

  • awsome !! android 2.2 for first time in the world with 1ghz cpu voaw well done moto anyway u need gsm version for all droid lover and hight end smartphone lover
