Looking for a cheap Android with these exact specs: 1GHz Single-Core/Dual-Core processor with 512MB RAM. The reason is that I have tried both iOS and Windows Phone with a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM (iPhone 4 and Lumia 520) and I have never tried Android with the same specs as these 2 phones. The Xperia J is a good option I think, any suggestions?

I bought this phone back in 2012 to be my backup phone and it worked well..... as long as you don't install anything. 1. Phone is just too slow 2. The screen, started to act up 3 months in. It started to become unresponsive to touch in one part of the screen 3. The screen unresponsiveness became a very big issue after a few more days. almost the entire screen could not recognize touch/clicks 4. I contacted SONY support - what they told me will shock you! 5. They told me that if I bring the phone to the SONY service center, it will take 6-12 months to repair due to lack of parts needed to fix the phone 6. I ended up throwing the phone in the garbage in just 3 months. This phone is basically a garbage SONY tried to sell for money. Because you know, SONY!

Absolutely terrible phone. Was the first smartphone I owned. I can't remember a single positve thing about this phone - actually, the battery was ok, but since the phone isn't capable of running literally any app without lagging, that's only an upside if you only use your phone as a phone.

I've been using this phone for 2 year(2013-2015) and I'm satisfied with it the display is great...bold color and accuracy...it's bright...the ram is slow.. only runs 512gb ram at that time but I'm don't find any problems with it aside that I cant runs game pretty well on it (I don't really play game on mobiles that much though)... aside from taking picture or multitasking, this phone is great when i use it to watch movies and listening to songs...since it only support 2g/3g i cant get my connection speed above 10mbps but wifi connection is great... Bluetooth is great too, i can get it connected to my i mac and transferring files between these 2 machine is easy.. on the other hand the internal storage is small, so small that i kinda get annoyed and had to install micro sd card on it... what striking me the most about this phone is the design. which is unique to me cuz i never seen any other company had create this kind of design... i hope that they upgrade the phones though...make the display 5 inch(Bezel-less if possible), bigger ram, quad core chips, better camera mp, bigger storage, bigger battery, USB-C for charging.. keep the design though and NEVER ever remove the headphones jack :)

Not happy with phone, had it a few months and it has major software issues. Doesn't connect to any other computer when trying to transfer pictures, doesn't connect or recognize Bluetooth devices, and when I put on Data, my phone service is unavailable, so I get no texts or phone calls!! the musics feels good with any earphone and long lasting battery (8 hours and above) but.. this is worst phone ever. very slow, lag untill you feel want to throw 'em to wall. even overclocked to 1.3ghz but still like crap. dont buy this phone unless for music and contacting purpose only!! from 2013 - stop and ban all programs - facebook (i have downloaded fcb lite), google play, maps, and every one program, which is using of your ram memory, i only use the phone for talks, reading books, fcb and browsing in internet. It works 2 days with one charge. BUT i`m stopped almost the all programs "favorite contacts, twiter" and etc. Because it use RAM memory. I want to change the phone, cuz wanna new, and sometimes it`s slow - don`t open keyboard, and just want new, but dont know witch one to choose.

Dont buy, it is utter crap. Really slow and awful storage(roughly 1gb). It crashes when sometimes only 1 app is open and sometimes restarts randomly. Avoid at all costs. Save your money and buy something better than this.

This phone is absolutely amazing and looks beautiful I really love it , My Xperia J went through hell and it`s still holding strong! I can`t count the times i`ve accidently dropped it and never broke , it`s a very tough phone , also the battery lasts for quite a long time and recharges very quickly! It`s 2016 and mine still works perfectly fine and im only looking for a new phone because i can`t get android 5.0 on this , it`s getting outdated. One downside to this phone is the little memory space and i never could store apps on my sd card for some reason... Nevertheless it was a great phone and a great experience overall :D

Had the phone for 2 years but it is now very short of internal memory and I've hardly added any apps. Disappointing. No use for gaming. It was good value at the time and has stood up to being dropped several times. I wouldn't have a new one.

this is the worst phone i have ever used. it's a fail model from sony. let me tell the problems i encountered. 1. the phones have autofocus problem. it goes on blurring frequently while recording videos. even while taking still images, the camera goes blurr n we have to wait until it fix the issue. 2. some times when we remove head set from phone while listening to some multimedia, it won't automatically switches to loud speaker. similarly sometimes it's speaker does not work while attending a call n we have to use either headset or use loudspeaker to respond to the caller 3.phones motherboard died and repaired from priority center. and after few use it again got complaint. i throw away this stupid phone away and now feeling happy.

One of the worst phones ever. when want to play game,it enters BUT later it hangs and go back to homescreen an i'm like wat the... Phone always lags all the time(not even once it doesn't lag). internal mem and Ram is too low. DONT BUY THIS PHONE. This phone was great when you first get it, works well. after a couple of months you constantly have to be updating apps that take up a lot of space and you cant delete. Then if you don't update, the phone will slow down so much it won't work when you try to work it then because it wont work you might press a button and BOOM! the phone is frozen and then it'll restart. Unless you have amazing MB, the phone will be worth nothing. The only good thing about this phone is this dont break easily.

I got one little over two years ago. At the beginning I loved it. Apps started crashing. I might have some virus or so, it's running really slow, even after using Ccleaner. The usb cable never kept good contact when recharging, so it usually ended up ruinning the memory sd, and I never got to use the phone as usb or... idk if one could ever do it anyway. Nowadays I cannot understand anything people say on the mic. All my phones ended up like this. I wonder if it's my faulty use or if it's the weather or the materials are bad (might be all 3?). I'm wondering for a phone, same price range. Mine's still got, just not as a phone, but as a mini tablet kind of deal, yea :)

While the phone is average in itself, the memory is a killing point of this phone. 2GB usable? Try 800MB. And once you've installed the mandatory updates on all of the google and sony apps, you've barely got enough space for a single 3rd party app. If this phone is still a thing in carrier stores, stay clear!

Fantastic design. From hands own experience, i wudn't recommend this phone. The speakers are loud enough, bravia engine and a sleek design. I like design and battey life was very good. Corilla glas is ok. Other thing - bad phone. Software - it hanging very badly 2-3 times durin the week. During the phonetalk loudspeaker turn its self on and and other side didnt hear me. If I wait about minute, phone make restart after that automatically. But if I want to end phonecall, must take battery off. After restart, all ringtone changed. Sometimes phone show network, but call didnt come in. Afrer restart everything workind again. The virtual keyboard is a pain in the as. Right when im typing something it just vanishes. I click the box where im typing and it doesnt appear again. How am I suppose to finish typing? The company says 512 ram - It is true! You dont understand maybe, but android has predefined ram memory size, so 386mb ram stay for user (applications). It is a case with every phone, not for this only. This phone is not good in mid range, really.

Prone to have network problems. My Xperia J does not receive any signal for my sim which works perfectly well on other handphones. Sending it to the sony center to replace the antenna did not resolve the problem either. In short, do not buy this phone unless you want to end up with a hand phone that you can only use as a mid range camera.

I have used the xperia j for a few months. Good phone, battery and sound. BUT too little memory and storage space minimal. Even with an added mini SD, many apps must install to phone only. I suggest you uninstall most of the factory apps, then disable auto update in google play. Why? Many of the factory apps are bloatware. For example, many apps are only 1-5 mb but they update themselves and expand to 50mb. After 24 hrs of use the phone became sluggish and unresponsive. After I removed many apps and only updated the apps I regularly use, phone came back to life. As well, remove flashy widgets. Camera very poor in low light. Great sound with Walkman app. Great display and colours. Bottom line, it is a very good low to mid range phone.

absolutely terrible. i've had 2 xperia j's and both have malfunctioned in the same way. i can't type, like, at all. the keyboard is messed up, keys either won't press or letters just come up on their own, sometimes it lags so bad that i have to restart the phone. sometimes the phone turns off just because, it won't let me receive texts and calls. also i'm not a fan of how sony limited android's abilities. the only positive thing is battery life.

I've had this phone since about march, it started off as a great phone and over time it just gets worse the best thing about this phone is battery but even that chooses when to work well. It is so laggy it takes about 30 seconds to sometimes load up the key pad. And I sometimes miss phone calls because it takes so long for the phone to bring up the incoming call screen. I have been put of Sony products and would never get one again. I prefer the blackberry I had before this phone. NEVER BYE A SONY PHONE!!!

A terrible phone. The touch screen is incredibly unresponsive and always lags. Even with all of my stuff stored on the sd card (3gb used out of 32gb) the simplest of tasks take so long I just give up. Sending a letter via owl would be a faster alternative than texting on this.. Don't even try the Internet on this thing. Android app stores just aren't as good. The camera takes a year to take a photo- this depresses me further. It's a fantastic piece of technology and I'm sure in the 1970s it would have been at the top.,. We should spend less time on phones and more time face to face.. With the xperia j time is spent on the phone trying to talk to people whilst excluding yourself from reality. This phone reduces quality of life.....

Some people are noob, they buy a cheap phone and they wanted to upgrade to the latest version of android.. Take note, do not update your firmware to the latest version or it will not run smooth.. I downgraded my phone to its stock firmware coz I realize that when upgraded some application will become heavier or putting some additional app to run in the background.. My phone is very smooth and it's like brand new.. Upgrade if your ram is 2-3Gig..

The phone became so frustrating to use and I now have to restart it about 6 times a day. It was good in the first few months I got it, but after that it just became the worst phone I've ever used. Please don't get this phone. It has so much space yet it keeps saying there is no space. I try to clear space but it never works. Many of the apps keep on stopping. Extremely laggy. You have to download truecaller app if u want a tracker on it. Steps to download:- 1st- Go to menu and then go to App Store 2nd- There would be an icon which is a magnifying glass,click on it 3rd- Enter 'Truecaller' 4th- At the top, there would be written "Truecaler", Click on it 5th- Then click install and when it is installed click open button 6th- Enter ur phone no. and then ur phone will have a tracker also.

Owned this phone for 18 months and was initially quite impressed. It was not as good as my previous HTC in terms of build quality, but then it was about half the price, so that is fair enough. It has always had an annoying tendency to randomlu reboot, which is infuriating if you are in the middle of a phone call or long SMS, but that is nothing compared to the problems over the last month. The touch screen has become steaduly more unresponsive and and worse still it changes between screens and apps at total random. No amount of reboots, factory resets or software reintallations has made the slightest difference. In summary I would like to pound this phone into the dirt, set light to it's shattered remains then spit on its electronic corpse. I do not think I have hated an inanimate object quite as much as I hate the Sony Xperia J.

The only way is doing swap memory (change your ext sd card to internal Memory) so u will have more big internal memory and u can move more app to your internal Memory without problem. but to doing it you need rooted device. That strange, I never had problems like yours on my J, are u using stock rom? Coz Stock rom has lot of bugs, try root and install custom rom(I suggest alien rom) maybe will be the answer of all your problems.

Our nightmare with Sony mobile phones: Here is my and my girlfriend story with my Sony Xperia J and my girlfriend's Sony Xperia S. Both me and my girlfriend needed to update our mobile phones to a smartphone capable of browsing internet, playing music, making simple photos etc. We were not interested in the best quality of picture/screen resolution etc. What was important was reliability. We are both nurses and sometimes we need to send a quick text to each other or check something quickly on the internet. We wanted simple functions that work with no problem. We noticed that everyone has the iPhone and decided that we wanted to be perhaps a little bit original. We turned to Sony Xperia J and S as they looked pleasant and we trusted the brand knowing its history of electronic development. Well�that was really great mistake. Please read till the end and you will find why you should just go for what is proved to work well. Tools given you in the Sony Xperia J & S phones are not working properly either due to very poor hardware such as low cpu;ram;screen of the phone causing it to crash/freeze or to the fact that it is utterly unintuitive to use phone features. - Calling After all�this supposed to be a phone,therefore it should make and receive calls with no problem. Well�my Sony Xperia J is unable to perform its most important task. For example: You must not put your phone next to your face/ear as it will switch the call off. You also must be extremely careful how you pick the phone up i.e. from you pocket as you will most likely switch the call off as well. Furthermore, because of really poor touch screen, I always have problem swiping the screen to pick up the call. It is unresponsive. Also, if there is just a single drop of water on the screen (I suppose Sony engineers are not familiar with the concept of rain), it is just impossible to use the touch screen anymore (cannot pick up or make a call, not to mention making texts etc.) Also, my mum called me the other day to tell me that I have called her from work twice. It was an inter national call from UK to Ireland. Be careful then as your SONY Xperia phone will call people when it wants it, potentially spending lots of your money! It has also sent some random letters text to one person on my contact list. I had to apologise for my stupid phone�Well done Sony ! So�how good is the phone if you cannot pick up the call, you are constantly worried that you may cancel the call, does not work in a slightest rain or you can't even put the headset properly to your ear or if your phone will randomly call people without your knowledge ? - Clock + Alarm One of the things I depend on the most in my phone is the clock and alarm to wake me up for work. To set up the alarm you have to go into the clock,then tap on the tiny little area to access the alarm setting. Mind you, getting into alarm setting is very difficult due to the fact that the screen is not sensitive/not precise�Once you tried several times and was successful, you need to tap again on the time to set it up, then scroll to the time you want to set, then tap set. One may think that it was over, but you still have to tap "OK" in the bottom corner if you want the alarm to work. No kidding�this is the length you have to go to set up an alarm. I once did not tap "OK" at the end and it just did not work..was late for work because of this. Clock on both our phones adjusts itself the way it wants�usually it is about 20-30 minutes too slow or too fast (we referenced the time with BBC News). Automatic time is switched off and yet straight after setting the time, the clock just starts displaying the wrong time and gets more delayed/too fast with time. It�s digital, not mechanical so WTF? - Touch screen Touchscreen is quite often unresponsive. Don't know if it is slow CPU or touchscreen, but I honestly do not care. It does not work ! As mentioned above, touchscreen will not work if you have moist hands/cold hands or if you kept it in the pocket and its warm, I find it just unresponsive. Once there is just a tiny little drop of water (just 1 drop) on the screen, it gets crazy (will behave as you are tapping random areas of the screen). - CPU The CPU in the phone cannot cope with the functions of the phone itself, not to mention other applications. I must emphasise that I am not a power user of demanding apps. I like to check my Facebook sometimes, see the weather report, check my e-mail. I have just few apps downloaded.I had to throw away 90% of them in belief that my phone will work better. It did not work better at all. - Storage Though I made sure I swiped my storage space clean, left just the bare minimum like Facebook and Viber applications in, my phone says that there is no space available anymore to download any app. When I check how much space is actually available, it states that I still have more than 100 Mb available, yet I cannot download any app that is just few Mb in size. Rubbish. I installed an external SD card, but from time to time it just does not read it. Often the contacts on my phone disappear or music on my SD card vanishes. SD card works ok, no problem in other devices. - Phone contacts My girlfriends contacts just disappeared and I cannot add anyone to mine. It lets me add people to the concat list, but then it does not display contacts I add. It is nowhere to be found, not in the phone memory,not on the external card. Also, my phone stops displaying people randomly. I wanted to call my aunt the other day and could not as she was not in my contact list anymore. Surely, my phone had a reason not to let me contact my family anymore� - Music I find Sony to be very proud of its heritage of portable music listening devices like walkman and great influence on music industry by making great gear for recording studios such as microphones. Having that in mind, I thought that Sony smartphone will enable me to listen to music on the go with pleasure. Unfortunately I found myself disappointed again. Here is why: I am using the loudest setting of the volume (loudness) of the phone when I am not listening to music via earphones so that I can hear my phone clearly when it rings. When I want to play the music, I adjust the volume so that it will not be too loud. Then when I play the track, the phone will follow the loudest volume setting for a split second, then adjust itself to the set loudness. I find it extremely unprofessional as this is simply dangerous. Imagine trusting your phone to play the music half loud and then get the loud blow straight into your ears from your stupid phone�Sony..really ?! Music disappears from my playlist. I've put a lot of time to arrange music into playlists in my phone like classic,jazz etc. You can do it only on the computer though as arranging audio files on the phone is impossible. Found that my music just vanished from my playlist. Also, arranging music the way you like is an utter pain in the neck. It is very lengthy process and needless to say, it is very unintuitive Taking everything into consideration, my and my girlfriends experience with Sony mobile phones was a constant frustration and disappointment that turned into utter hate of the brand Sony. Both phones are not reliable in any of aspects that matters to us and it was the biggest waste of money we have ever made. We cannot recommend these phones to anyone and in fact we strongly advise to stay away from Sony mobile phones. The reason for it is this: if Sony has ever released such products and dared to advertise it to the public as a functional device when it clearly is not, do not make the mistake to buy any mobile phone from Sony as you may share my frustration. Sony mobile phones are a joke,rip-off and WILL give you so much trouble that you will start to hate the brand. We will not buy ANYTHING that Sony does again. If Sony dares to release a product that does not work, what guarantee do you have they won�t do it again ? Therefore buying anything from Sony is a potential waste of your hard earned money. Now I use alien rom not very good coz still have some annoying bug, but for me this one is better than stock or both doomsday and seraphic. I have lot of MP4 files (videos) in a 16GB SD card inside the XPERIA J. I am using Astro File Manager to access these files. Problem is, when I it takes 2 to 3 MINUTES to access a file. Had been using this phone for 1 year plus close to 2 years. This phone is really a total waste of money. It starts hanging the moment I bought it even after update. It really really hangs a lot. Whenever you restart your phone, all the picture in the album will go missing even after one day plus. You have to restart your phone and try your luck. Same goes to the camera. Its always not available most of the time and the picture really loads really really really slow. Walkman is not that good too. The sound system and all is good but whenever your phone gets laggy the music will stop playing automatically and you have to go all the way back to walkman to replay the song. This phone also have lots of useless apps that can't be deleted especially google apps omg. It takes up 50% of your storage and it can't be moved to your internal storage or memory card. Cannot update all the apps thanks to this problem too. Please don't buy this phone. There's always some other phone out there which is cheaper and better than this phone. Make sure you do your research and read all the opinion before buying or you'll be regret like me.

dont buy this phone. main problem is internal memmory. it is too low. we cant update any applications, beacause of this stuppid internal memmory. they divided internal memmory for apps, mail, videos, photos separatly. apps memmory space is very low. that is the main problem. we cant move any apps to external memmory(memmory card)camera clarity also very bad. the phone is very poor performance. its hanging always.

This phone is much more suitable for people who may not use it heavily, as the RAM is around 512 mb. As a heavy user, i have started to find problems with the phone in the space of 3 months, it began to be very unresponsive and lagged a lot. I would recommend another device if you're a heavy user (play alot of games, store large amounts of music or use a lot of large apps). Not a bad device has a great battery life, but i dont thinks its meant for heavy users.

I've had this phone for just under a year now and I'm counting down the days to change it. First of all the camera has such a rubbish quality, the keyboard makes me not want to text as when you click on a letter a different one comes up. The memory is rubbish, I downloaded about 5 apps and it won't allow any more, I find this frustrating as it then asks you to delete things, even with my memory card in it still doesn't have great memory.

I have had this piece of garbage since Nov 2013. It has a garbage keyboard which layout and sensitivity aspect result in not always the key hit but any of the 6 around it. The auto correct consumes time and patience resulting in more errors than messages and had to be disabled. Dialer visually cluttered and poor quality. Contact menu worst of any phone owned. Does not always respond to swipe resulting in call backs. Lags so much have to hit power button to refresh frozen pages to back out of them. A friend and I both purchased the same day, we're both counting the days until we can replace. Sony should stick to making TV's.

Ive had the phone for 7 months and there have been problems with it for 6 months. after having it being sent in three times it still comes back with the same problem, it does not recieve texts. i recently found my phone is corrupted. I am constantly calling in my phone company for some way to fix the problem and am just given another loner phone an told its being sent in for repair. in conclusion i do not recommend the phone. very slow, laggy, drops calls or doesnt even vibrate.

Absolute worst phone Ive ever owned out of 4 so far (the others being an old samsung galaxy, samsung galaxy ace and an old fashioned flip phone (I'd rather the flip phone). After owning it for 6 months, i`ve finally stomped it to death out of sheer frustration. Heres a list of most of the problems ive encountered: -Refusing to acknowledge someone touching the screen -Acting like you tapped elsewhere than you actually did on the screen (eg. tap on 'Q' and it thingks I tapped 'L'). This happened at least 30% of time and made texting HELL -Refusing to acknowledge that theres new/any pics on phone when I connect it to computer -Randomly turning off (at least once a day) -Holding back all texts from me for up to two or three days. I'd still be able to send texts or send/receive calls -Selecting "snooze" when my alarm went off, when I was 2 feet away from my phone and nothing was touching it -Saying a text was sent by me even though I had never sent it,when infact it was a received text from the other party

I've been using this phone almost a year. I had problem with microphone 3-4 months ago it was under warranty and they solved it. For that price it's pretty solid. But I would not recommend it. I don't like the design and power button is very small and sometimes you should press twice to work. Camera at night is awful, but by day you can take some good photos outside. And it's pretty slow and often apps crashes right after starting them.

The worst phone I ever came across. From the very first month after buying this phone it started getting hanged.It is still within warranty n the sim slot ws not working. When I gave it to the service center they said I hv to change the slot because there ws some water damage which would cost me 8k.I took it back without getting it repaired. It is working fine now without any repair. But if there is water damage how come it is working now? Is it the problem with this model because my friend also came across the same problem which didn't get sorted after the servicing n they mentioned it as a software issue. I updated my xj to 4.1.2 jb, it works well than it was in ics, but the problem I'm facing is, when it was in ics it used to show blue light wenever there is a mis call n unread messages, but now it shows blue light only for mis calls n not for unread messages, I updated in authorised sony service center. any one help..

Possibly it does not support the 3G frequency used by his carrier in his area. Same as SE Xperia Mini this supports only 900 and 2100MHz, and my Xperia Mini had this exact problem when ever I was in the place of my GF, no 3G on those bands on that network in that place, but my Xperia Z has superfast 3G in that same place due to the Z supporting 850 band. The 900/2100 3G limitation affects many low end phones and Xperia J is about as low as it gets.

Specs are not good enough to handle the good resolution. Even simple games lag and browsing experience is bad due to slow speed. But sound quality and image quality are quite good. The only two down sides is the 5 MP cam is sometimes delayed in saving photos, and the OS cannot be upgraded to any further than Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Other than that, a golden purchase.

I recently purchased my first android phone, Xperia J. After a month of using it, I noticed a stuck pixel, just a tiny one and I just disregarded it as it does not conflict with my use of the phone. But just last month there is a weird thing I experienced, whenever I play a music using any earphone and after a few hours of playing, you will suddenly hear a long beep and the phone will hang up and will not respond quickly, it's really laggy. I can't do anything but to restart it. Sometimes, it appears even in a short period of music playback. Restarting the phone solves the problem. & Also It has now two modes.. 1.Earphone Mode 2.Speaker Mode 'Restarting the phone' works as a switch.. too fed up I am.

Its not games that is the problem, its the stuttering and unresponsiveness in the most frequently used apps, like Facebook and Chrome. All single core Cortex A5 phones have this problem. Its actually funny, ZTE Blade had only an ARM11 processor, it lagged in games like Angry Birds and so on but the user experience in general wasnt as bad as these newer A5 single core phones. Maybe mostly thanx to Gingerbread, but still. Gingerbread had awesome performance, even till this day new phones are launched running Gingerbread with only 256MB RAM!

i dont know the performance of Cortex A9, all i know is Cortex A5 found in J is average and its not exactly as Cortex A5 before its something like what they call refreshed Cortex A5.

One of my android phones has 1GHz single core A9 and 512MB RAM, its ok to use but in Facebook it has below average performance, and that processor is a lot more powerful than Cortex A5 at 1GHz. Dual core A9 with 1GB RAM, like Galaxy Grand, is already enough to have above average performance in FB.

I still suggest everyone who doesnt already own a J get out of here and stay away from Xperia J at any cost, the Xperia M is so much better that buying a J now is a crazy thing to do, ultimate waste of money. Well you expected iPhone performances on xperia j,lol xperia j is 4-5 times cheeper than iPhone,you are apple user and you are learned on apple smoothness.All issues you are having are ridiculous i have that phone it's on JB when it was stock everythong worked just perfect except subway surfers that game laggs a bit but everything else works just fine for a cheep phone like this,no issue with setting alarm or any kind.Now i'm using custom rom it's based on stock jb it's a little better but still have locked bootloader so no oc.All i want to say is you are expecting for a cheep phone like this to work like dual core phones.Sony made a mistake for not giving xperia j a GB rom i have xperia arc on gb it runs so perfectly smooth.In xperia j the bigest problem is ics/jb felw does two fw are not made for low hardwares.

For anyone considering buying Xperia J or any smartphone from Sony: This is the worst product I have ever bought in my life. Here is why: - Touch screen does not respond well to touch, it doesnt recognise the touch accurately. Sometimes it gives you lots of trouble unlocking (when attempting to draw the pattern it does not recognise it). If you get only a tiny drop of water on it, it becomes completely unusable (forget to call or even dont try to unlock it when it rains). - It is way underpowered. I had to delete all my applications and it is still extremely slow. I am not doing anything wrong with the device, it is just piece of junk. Forget about using internet ! Logging in to any website is a pure nightmare. Screen freezes all the time and it is just unusable for browsing internet. - If all the "smarphone" features suck so badly, perhaps it is ok as a phone ? Nope, it is not big time ! When you call service which require you to type numbers like banking, topping up the funds etc. you need to move the phone away from your ear and wait till this junk activate the screen back again. This often does not happen and by pressing the screen you may switch the phone off. Furthermore, sometimes the phone cancel the call when you put it next to your ear....its uber frustrating. Then of course you must not forget that the touchscreen is so bad it must have been designed by signle-cell organisms. You won't call anyone if it wont allow you to unlock the screen or will not recognise which number you are trying to dial. - If you like to listen to music on it and like most of the people now have iTunes library, then you are screwed again. Sure there is an app for Mac called jBridge, but it is very unintuitive and does not let you create and edit your own music libraries well. Forget about making libraries inside phone, moving just few songs into a library takes too much time. Bottom line: you can import mp3 into the phone, but you will not have it well organised. Ah and almost forgot: if you switch on the phone and want to listen to music it gives you some ridiculous volume level for a short while. Sure it is just for a short while,but it is just enough to scare you lots, maybe contribute to hearing loss and above all...it is just so unprofessional for a company that seems to be so proud of its Walkman heritage. I surely expected more in the music department from Sony and once again Apple has gone way ahead of the competition just because these guys know what people want and they are not ignorant about little details like management of sound volume. -Applications: the ones that come with the phone are just a misunderstanding. Lets take an alarm for example. Setting it is just a nightmare, you have to tap several times until it finally let you set it. It is not so straight forward as what I get used to on my iPod. You have to open an app, then try to tap in the correct area to edit the alarm (tricky) then you have to tap to the time to change it and finally accept by taping on the very tiny area. If you wont tap the ok button,it wont set and sometimes you may miss it (happened to me few times as I tapped ok,but the phone did not get it - it is close to the edge of screen). I have my xperia charging at night and my iPod is my alarm (can set up alarm in iPod in few simple moves, takes 2seconds - dont tell me that Apple products are for idiots, I want my "smarphone" to work well so I dont have to get frustrated all the time and use my brain for things that need it). The Clock. Simple feature, everything has it these days. Well, but even that does not work smoothly. When you switch on the phone it shows the time from last time you had it on, so it may give you a good suprise/confuse you sometimes. It is not 90's, these things should work reliably and without all these glitches. - Wifi: It constantly loses the signal and sometimes it takes ages to see the network. I have to often switch on and off the wifi to get the network at home and it is not the fault of my network provider or wifi router. I have an iPad which logs in to wifi in seconds and never losses the signal. Sony...it is awful. Not that you could use the internet anyway if you get it as the internet browsing is horrible as noted above, plus after few updates of some apps you run out of the internal memory. Some applications need to be installed in internal memory, I have 32 gig card and it still doesnt change the fact that the phone shows me constantly that I do not have enough space for required updates. - Powering on the phone can take very long time. In conclusion, if you buy Sony Xperia J, you are getting yourself somewhat attractive (matter of taste) plastic shell, which does not work well. I bought that phone because I could not afford an iPhone that time (lost my phone and needed a fast replacement) and thought I will give it a try (to give non Apple brand a chance). FAIL ! I will never ever buy anything else from Sony again and will strongly advise anyone who is considering buying Sony smartphone to do the right move and look elsewhere (iPhone?) J.S. London, UK

Dual core does not necessarily consume more battery. The strategy behind faster processors is simple: Finish processing as fast as possible and go back to idle. With a Cortex A5 energy little thing you do take longer, you always have to wait more, for example a few seconds more to open a webpage, 10+ sec more to open a game like TR2, and in this time the display is on. Not only does low performance waste time, but it also waste battery to keeping the display backlight on. Let's wait for the Xperia M battery test. I doubt M will beat J on video playback but it will demolish the J in everything else.

I'm using this phone for 6 months now, its a great phone for the price tag, the OS works just the same with any android phone with similar hardware capability; sometimes bit slow but gets the job done, have not played hardware demanding games much, but i download the most popular in the store on a regular basis and haven't had any problems with them. Screen is great! I set the brightness on 0% when I bought it - haven't changed it since, colors are great(at first ware a bit more red but after a timescape UI update the red got to normal). haven't had any problems with music playing; speaker is loud enough, bought sony ear buds they work just fine (Didn't had any experience with "slow" or "low" sound). Videos are fine,( Don't care much about HD on a 4 inch size display... ). I don't use facebook or e-mail services on the phone for the last two months, so when I don't play games the battery can get me trough 4 days. The only thing that bugs me is that I need to lock my phone after answering a call, so i won't go trough the menu with my chick and ear while speaking. I doubt that i could have found much better phone at that time for the same price, I'm satisfied with this one.

you cant do anything but to accept that you already bought j before the release of m.imo if youre not a heavy gamer and use your phone for basic needs and some medium games then having j is fine.take note also that xperia m has 2gb internal mmc same as j so eventhough it is dual core and has 1gb ram, playing heavy games with it seems impossible cause it lacks memory and you cannot move apps/games to external mmc unless youre rooted.one more thing m also has 1700(1750) mah battery same as j meaning since m is dual core it will consume more battery than single core j so expect lesser battery performance from m.

Hey, i m using this fone past 4 mnths. battery is gud. camera is vry vry gud. wats ap,we chat, skype, browsing,games are all vry gud. vdo chat can be done from other apps other than skype.For this range this is a perfect smartfone. Only disadvantage - internal memory is 4gb. and most apps cannot be moved to the SD card. we cn play HD videos also.

NOT J! NOT J! Xperia M if you want cheap. Xperia L is kind of cheap also, same performance as M and has more storage so you can install many apps and games. I'm going for M because it's for my secondary phone, then I need small size and storage doesn't matter, more important with smaller display to save battery, but sure I wish M had 8GB internal storage. By the way, also J has only 4GB storage but it's not like it can run heavy apps anyway due to insufficient processor and lack of RAM for running processes.

By the way, in India teh price of Xperia M is only 12990, thats around $210. For example for philippines it equals to only 9200, that mean the price of M could be below 10,000 pesos, and if ANYONE then want to argue for getting an Xperia J instead then we know you are just being difficult. Price difference betwen L and M will be around 4000, or php 2800. Thats also an indication that it will cost only around PHP 10000 or less (not in Xperia stores of course, those are horrible overpriced, charging up to 17,000 for Xperia L ahah)

Hi, I have been through the posts and I can assure you that people are lying here. I bought this phone in Feb and till to that it has not given me any problem. The camera Quality is rather awesome, Music is of Walkman standards and I like listening to it everyday close to 2-3 hours. Rest be assured, its not a bad deal - People are exaggerating stuff here. To get best from your phone 1.unlock bootloader & root it 2.use vengence kernel to get 1.3mhz processor speed 3.use greenfy app and hibernate all apps including system apps. 4. use pimp my rom and scripts from xda from. Now the best thing i can port many latest system apps from high end phone like from honami, xperia z walkman album movies. but i agree if you do not root xperia j it is very slow and lagy.

Delete cache memory dear friends...It works fine with enough speed..To delete cache memory goto setting->apps->click on any 1 of the app->click clear cache...

Extremely slow, bad cam, terrible audio. Why should anyone even consider this phone?? Answer: They shouldnt. Seriously, do not consider anything less than Xperia M, dual core Krait (or dual Cortex A9) and 1GB RAM is more or less the absolute minimum. Maybe Dual Cortex A7 is ok, i havent tried, but surely dual Cortex A5 is not enough, and Xperia J got only single A5!

Hi Romo i use my J w ICS android music just average yet still good but after upgrade to JB d music quality esp d sound softer also smtimes it wipe out playlists & even sound settings reset by itself try to clear data & reformat no different. I suggest u get Xperia M or better other Xperias

For solution to losing touch sensitivity on the screen, just press lock screen and it locks the screen black right? Then unlock it again and it will be back to normal!

It isn't as bad as what you all are saying, for the price I believe this phone has provided us good and especially its battery lasting is amazing! And the big 4inch screen is also good. I am using this phone for a year .It was one of the worst phone by sony.... when compared to previous models it has very low camera resolution,slow touch resolution.....it was so costly compared with samsung s duos. when comming to positives sony stands with its own display clarity and sound, battery backup but this three things are not enough for a good phone.... finally sony failed to provide a valuable product for the given money..

It's my corporate "gadget" for several weeks already and what can I say - it's the worse UI experience since Symbianish Nokia XM5800 (though it was even better). The fundamental lag throughout the UI makes impossible to operate/navigate/use the devices' basic functions - texting/mms, browsing, MAILING, etc. I know it's budget, but c'mon - whatahek!? It is not possible to use it at all. Stay far away from even considering any Xperia budget models, especially J.

What a question, of course you get the L. It may not have the best of batteries but its a new and capable phone with 1GB RAM (important) Xperia U is good as well but you will notice the smaller amount of RAM compared to L, it has non expandable memory and it cant be officially updated to Jelly Bean. The display is small but very clear, high PPI. J has pathetic performance compared to both these, also worse camera and whatever, the only advantage could be battery life.

No you can not. A normal SIM is the size of a credit card and has not been used in new phones since the mid 1990ies. This phone uses a mini sim, which is still be far the most common.

Yes, theres almost always one reason to stay away from Sony phones. Lots of people still cant get over the fact that Z Ultra has no LED flash, since there was no good reason to not have one. Why they do these stupid things, putting so much into a monster phone and omit one cheap simple easy little thing, for absolutely no reason? Crazy Sony, first you shoot yourself in the foot with Xperia S/P/U with no card slot, then follow up with substandard performance in T/TX, and then Z was actually good, but now they are trying to make stupid phones again. ZR no storage, SP not enough RAM and storage, V and L no battery, Tipo, Miro J and E no performance, dis SOny decide that Z was the only complete phone they will ever make?? i purchased this phone few days ago. excellent phone at this price tag, size of screen equal to iphone5, if u don't multi task, it is a amazing device. i have seen side by side comparison with iphone5, speaker volume is same, display is super. also played few videos from youtube, did the job with out any issues. if you are looking nice decent looking budget device, don't look back.

Xperia j is a nice phone.. slim body and nice look..its big screen helps to watch vedio entertainmently... its earphones slot is in top nor in side like others... it has front camera so skype works....Battery life is slightly good than others. Disadvantages Games and other apps slow due to processor Camera nt good enough Gets heated fast Lags a lot lot and lot Guys if u will go for this ph you will hate it... Guys go for Xperia go if u want it for long term, fast processor and hd camera but only 3.5 inch display.. if u want big screen go for Galaxy S duos it has good touch and i bet you will be better than xperia j.. they have same price level

I just bought my xperia j for about two weeks.It is all great but sometimes have a big problem which is when i opened the album file or the walkman file it say there are no file in your collection and there are no music track although i am using my previous sdcard which is 32GB.It happens so many times and i always reboot my phone after that.After a few try the picture and music can be see and play but then they will be like before state.ANyone have the same problem?
